- 0:11You're listening to the Hidden Lightness on America Out Loud Talk Radio.
- 0:14I'm your host, Jimmy Hinton.
- 0:16The Grammys.
- 0:17I didn't watch them.
- 0:19In fact, I don't know that I've ever watched the Grammys in my entire life.
- 0:24But this year they made it all about ice.
- 0:27And this is what we talk about.
- 0:33The entertainers that all of a sudden they become relevant on everything moral.
- 0:40You know, the people who write really awful lyrics, they're usually the ones who are telling us how to behave, what to do, how to live our lives, what we need to believe in, how we need to vote.
- 0:55And uh one by one, people got up, and I'll play some audio clips as the show unfolds.
- 1:02I have to be careful because they were riddled with all kinds of colorful language.
- 1:08No surprises there.
- 1:10But as it went on, it kept going from bad to worse.
- 1:14I've seen clips.
- 1:16Um Billie Eilish.
- 1:19She had to be bleeped out because she went on a big rant, you know, telling everybody how to live their lives, and then she said F ice.
- 1:32Only she didn't say F.
- 1:36She said the real deal.
- 1:39And on and on.
- 1:40It's it's like this parade of people who are just so angry.
- 1:47And they talk about how protesting is the way to go.
- 1:50Billy Eilish.
- 1:51Yeah, we need to keep protesting.
- 1:54You know, it's this idea go out in the streets, wreak havoc, shut things down.
- 1:59Meanwhile, I saw a video clip of Minneapolis, and this guy was just walking through in utter disbelief.
- 2:08And he said, literally, every single car that's parked on the side has its windows smashed out.
- 2:17There was something like 60 smashed windows in a row.
- 2:22Every single car.
- 2:24And he was walking down.
- 2:25Yeah, he's he's filming it.
- 2:26He's showing.
- 2:27He's like, look at this.
- 2:30He's like, these are residents.
- 2:32These are people who live here.
- 2:35And they broke into every single car.
- 2:39And they didn't just smash the windows, they smashed and grabbed.
- 2:44You know, and and and that's this entitlement mentality that we all owe something to these people.
- 2:56You know, they they're they're turning on their own.
- 3:00I've shown you uh several stories of that, where the anti-ICE agitators are turning on their own, they're literally attacking their own and threatening to kill them and uh calling them ice, and these people are like, We're we're not ice, we're anti-ICE, we're just like you, and the people don't believe it, and they're like, F you, like they're just so angry, you know, the party of tolerance, they're so angry all the time, and just constantly telling people how to live their lives, and I want to contrast that.
- 3:41Like, this is what the story's all about today.
- 3:43Now we'll talk about we'll talk about the the good, the bad, and the ugly, and there was plenty of ugly, but of course, this is the hidden lightness, and we're gonna talk about the good.
- 3:55I want to contrast one person who really stood out at the Grammys.
- 4:00I mean, really stood out, and I've done a story on him before about just what a what a decent human he is, and what a hard worker and and what a humble guy, and that would be none other than jelly roll.
- 4:20And I I want to play this clip for you because it's so so powerful.
- 4:26Now keep in mind his story.
- 4:28He grew up in a really tough neighborhood and got into drugs, he was pedaling drugs, he was doing drugs, and Jelly Roll said he wound up in prison, and he said, I wasn't that guy.
- 4:45Like uh the person I had become is not the person who I am.
- 4:51I've always had a good heart, I've always been gentle, I've always loved people, and he really hated what he had become, and he said underneath the surface, I knew that jelly roll was still in there, that the real jelly roll, the the the soft-spoken gentle guy, he was still in there, and so he wrote his music from this this place of pain and overcoming, overcoming addiction, uh finding grace and forgiveness for all the people he had hurt in his life.
- 5:29And uh he's just such a humble dude, and every time I hear him talk, I just I I get more and more impressed, but I want you to hear what he said.
- 5:38Now keep in mind the entire theme for the Grammys was well, basically two things.
- 5:45Uh, you know hang your body parts out, you know, bear all and curse ice.
- 5:55Like that was pretty much the theme for the whole night.
- 5:58And uh Jelly Roll rolls up to the microphone and listen what he says.
- 6:07The hell was a Bible this big and a radio the same size and a six by eight foot sale, and I believe that those two things could change my life.
- 6:14I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life, and I want to tell y'all right now, Jesus is for everybody, Jesus is not owned, that one political party, Jesus is not owned, but no music label!
- 6:28Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with him.
- 6:32I love you, Lord.
- 6:34Isn't that cool?
- 6:36I mean, what a classy dude.
- 6:39And you can actually hear people cheering.
- 6:41I know I don't think everybody was cheering because he didn't get as many loud cheers as as what Billy Eilish did.
- 6:48Billy Eilish, when she said F ice, I mean the room went absolutely crazy.
- 6:52They were just, oh yeah, rah-rah-rah.
- 6:56Jelly Roll, his message was apolitical.
- 7:01Uh it was it was non-political.
- 7:05He said, uh Jesus doesn't belong to any political party.
- 7:10He's for everyone.
- 7:12And he changed my life.
- 7:13And Jelly Roll was high he was holding a Bible in his hand, and I thought that was so cool.
- 7:19And I'm sure people are critics are gonna come out and talk about how this was it was staged.
- 7:25You know, you remember when Trump held his Bible and people absolutely flipped out, which I think that's part of why he did it, uh, just to get under the skin of people.
- 7:37But that's kind of the difference.
- 7:39You know, Jelly Roll didn't do this to agitate people, he did it because he legitimately is a good dude, and he legitimately cares about Jesus.
- 7:49And God really changed Jelly Roll's life.
- 7:53Every time you hear him talk about it, he gets so passionate and so emotional.
- 8:00And I thought, my goodness, this is what America needs right now.
- 8:05We need jelly roll.
- 8:08We need people like him who are gonna stand up and instead of pointing the finger at people and telling them how to live their lives and how to vote, and if you voted for orange man, I can't be friends with you, or the opposite.
- 8:21If you voted for a liberal, I can't be friends with you, and you know, it's just absolute stupidity.
- 8:30What a bunch of people have become.
- 8:37And Jelly Roll took the high road, and I man, I just can't commend him enough.
- 8:43He really took the high road.
- 8:46He didn't care what people what people thought about him.
- 8:51He put his truth out there, he put the truth out there that Jesus is the only way.
- 8:57I mean, it was so black and white, and I love that.
- 9:03The Bible says, let your yes be yes and your no be no black and white.
- 9:10Something liberals don't.
- 9:13They don't know how to do that.
- 9:14It's everything's fluid, right?
- 9:17Everything's fluid.
- 9:20Everything's changing, everything's adapting, everything's evolving, everything's constantly changing, but it but only if it bends to them.
- 9:31And I thought this was really interesting.
- 9:33I heard somebody talking about this.
- 9:34How if you listen to the people who talk about Don Lemon getting arrested, that they're all getting in tears, and all these liberal uh announcers, they're in tears, and they're like, they just don't, they don't understand the Justice Department doesn't understand the First Amendment.
- 9:58It it's the the
- 10:00Right of free press, freedom of speech.
- 10:05They're trampling on the First Amendment.
- 10:09They forget the part about the First Amendment that deals with religion.
- 10:17Right?
- 10:17They they skip over that part.
- 10:20Here's what the First Amendment says.
- 10:24Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.
- 10:30It's the very first thing in the First Amendment.
- 10:36Religion, not freedom of speech.
- 10:38It's religion.
- 10:40Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
- 10:51Huh.
- 10:53When you prohibit the free exercise of religion, you're breaking the First Amendment.
- 11:05And then it continues, or a bridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.
- 11:12Or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
- 11:23All right.
- 11:23So there's a lot packed in there.
- 11:27But people absolutely have the right to practice religion without fear of prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
- 11:41People absolutely have the right of free speech, the freedom of speech, so long as it's not threatening or harmful.
- 11:52Or of the press.
- 11:55The press has the right.
- 11:58They have the right to cover stories to write what they're gonna write.
- 12:05What they don't have the right to do is to prohibit the free exercise of religion.
- 12:13Like Don Lemon, did you see that he kissed the organizer, the agitator, the lady who organized that whole thing?
- 12:20He kissed her on the cheek and said, You're doing a great job.
- 12:23Like he kind of whispered it, you're doing a great job.
- 12:27Kissed her on the cheek.
- 12:31I mean, if if if he's really neutral, if he's really unbiased, why is he kissing this agitator on the cheek and telling her, good job?
- 12:41Yeah, you stormed into that church.
- 12:44Good job.
- 12:47I love when he went in there.
- 12:48Just I I just happened to be in the neighborhood.
- 12:52I didn't even know this uh this was going on.
- 12:57Yeah.
- 13:00You expect us to believe that this whole thing was secret, you didn't have any clue that they were going to storm inside that church.
- 13:07You just happened to be at the right place at the exactly the right time.
- 13:12And you walked right inside of that church and started shoving a microphone in in the faces of people as they're trying to worship.
- 13:22So they forget about the other parts of the First Amendment.
- 13:28That people have the right to peaceably assemble.
- 13:34There's nothing peaceful about smashing 60 windows in a row and stealing personal items from people's cars.
- 13:43It's okay to be angry.
- 13:44I mean, if people are angry if it at uh the unjustices that are happening with ice, they have the right to be angry about it.
- 13:52Absolutely 100%.
- 13:56But this whole notion that, you know, F ice and we need to we need to protest, and we need to get in their faces, and we need to we need to make noise and we need to block roads, and we need to honk our horns as as they're entering people's houses.
- 14:12You know, what what do they think that's gonna accomplish?
- 14:16You know, I saw a video where ice went inside.
- 14:20They went inside somebody's apartment, and people are honking the horn and blowing their whistles.
- 14:26It's like at that point, what are they gonna do?
- 14:29Oh, oh, I hear a whistle, I hear horns honking.
- 14:32I'm gonna jump out the window.
- 14:34I'm gonna hide under the bed.
- 14:36Like, what do they think that's gonna accomplish?
- 14:38But anyway, it it's the I guess they have the right to blow whistles or whatever, but um destroying people's property.
- 14:47That's a big hard no.
- 14:50But that's what the Grammys were all about until jelly roll stepped out to them like, and what a graceful dude.
- 15:04Uh, he ended up winning three trophies.
- 15:08Here's an article of the taste of country.com.
- 15:12He declined to comment either on stage or backstage in the press room when asked directly if he'd weigh in on the current political climate.
- 15:22The singer said he wouldn't.
- 15:25That's how it's done.
- 15:26Jelly roll, man.
- 15:28I applaud you.
- 15:32That's how it's done.
- 15:34Can you imagine if this is how the entertainment industry behaves?
- 15:41If if they all did what Jelly Roll did, do you realize how few problems we'd have with properties getting destroyed, people getting shot, things escalating.
- 15:57Uh we'd have a whole lot less problems.
- 16:01I mean, and and he sees it.
- 16:03And I really genuinely, I don't think that he was avoiding uh, you know, gotchas.
- 16:09I think he legitimately he just wasn't there to talk about politics.
- 16:14This was a time to celebrate God.
- 16:17It was the time to celebrate God's talents that he that he gave Jelly Roll.
- 16:23Uh, it was a time to celebrate other people, to cheer them on, to applaud them.
- 16:28You know, people work hard for these awards, and jelly roll was there to support and to celebrate, and that was it.
- 16:37You know, this this wasn't meant to be a political gathering.
- 16:41So good on jelly roll.
- 16:44I mean, how fantastic.
- 16:46We'll talk more about this after the break.
- 16:49Um, it's just such a cool story, and there are other cool things that happen that night as well.

- 19:55Well, the Grammys were a complete bust in my opinion.
- 20:01Except for except for Jelly Roll.
- 20:05He was, by and large, the highlight of the Grammys.
- 20:09I mean, what a stand-up dude.
- 20:10And I have a longer clip that I want to play for you here in a little bit.
- 20:14But first I want to talk about some of the some of the stuff that went on at the Grammys.
- 20:19And uh I have a friend here who who just posted, I mean, just a little bit ago, but he said, from what I can gather, the Grammys celebrated a guy who refuses to tour in the country that made him wealthy.
- 20:34Clips performed a groundbreaking song that uses the N-word ten times and brags about selling cocaine.
- 20:42Justin Bieber gave an quote honest performance while wearing only a pair of stoke boxers.
- 20:50I've been hearing about that that he he didn't have anything on but a pair of underwear.
- 20:55So bizarre.
- 20:57And these are the people we're supposed to take seriously.
- 20:59They're the ones who talked to us about living a moral life and doing the right thing.
- 21:08He went on, he said, Heidi Klum dressed like an uncooked chicken.
- 21:12Did you see what she wore?
- 21:15I mean, the stupidity.
- 21:19And I know people, oh, that's culture.
- 21:21You don't understand.
- 21:23You're not cultured.
- 21:24You don't understand.
- 21:25They're making a statement.
- 21:28She literally wore.
- 21:30I heard her talking about it while she was wearing the whatever that thing.
- 21:34I don't want to call it a dress because it's not what it is.
- 21:37She had somebody, I guess, get a mold of her body using latex or something.
- 21:44Or I I don't even know what.
- 21:48And then made supposedly a leather dress, and then tried to match the color to her skin to make it look nude.
- 21:56And she looked like so stiff.
- 22:01She waddled out on stage.
- 22:02I was watching her, and she couldn't even walk in this dumb thing.
- 22:06Like it's just.
- 22:17How to be moral people, how to be upright citizens.
- 22:20He says, uh, my friend goes on to say, Lady Gaga performed with a lampshade on her head.
- 22:26And Joni Mitchell only figured out that she was at the Grammys while receiving a uh uh a reward for the 20th plus consecutive year.
- 22:36I'm very, very glad that I didn't turn on the TV.
- 22:40Amen.
- 22:42That's why I don't watch it.
- 22:44It is a colossal waste of time.
- 22:49And I don't even really love talking about it today, to be honest.
- 22:54It's not what I want to be talking about right now.
- 22:58But I wanted to highlight Jelly Roll.
- 23:00And I wanted to highlight what a great guy he is, and just how humble he is.
- 23:07Um let's see.
- 23:09Here's here's a clip of Billy Eilish.
- 23:12Um I'm gonna play that.
- 23:14Billy Eilish uh sounds sounded to me like a robot.
- 23:19Just no emotion whatsoever.
- 23:22And uh, well, I'll let you hear her speech for whatever it was.
- 23:30No one is illegal on stolen land.
- 23:32Really hard to know what to say and what to do right now.
- 23:35And I just I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our our voices really do matter, and the people matter, and um I say sorry.
- 23:51So she they bleeped it out there, but she said F ice.
- 23:55Uh-huh.
- 23:56Sorry.
- 23:57No, you're not.
- 23:59You're not sorry at all.
- 24:01It's you think that we're living on stolen land, and that's the difference between entitled people who they just feel like everything is owed to them.
- 24:15Yeah, we're we're on stolen land, and uh you know, nobody's illegal on stolen land, and uh well, we actually have laws.
- 24:26Like it's not like President Trump is making up laws.
- 24:31We have laws that have been laws since the founding of our nation.
- 24:38And people were literally pouring over the border.
- 24:41I'm millions of people pouring over the border.
- 24:45Now, again, I'll say this over and over.
- 24:49It's not that I approve of the way that IC is handling the the whole border situation.
- 24:54I I think there are so many policies that are really detrimental to people.
- 24:59People seeking legitimate asylum here.
- 25:04People who are here under legal refugee strat status, who that's now expired, and they have to leave.
- 25:14And they have to go back to the countries where their family members perished.
- 25:19And it just puts a huge target on their back.
- 25:22And you know, I I think what about the people who really legitimately are doing everything in their power to be legal, and they're they're going back home.
- 25:36You know, this has been their home.
- 25:39And they're going back to what once was their home.
- 25:43And it's just making them extremely vulnerable.
- 25:46So it's not that, you know, people are rubber stamping what Trump is doing, and they're like, oh my goodness, like bow down to Trump because he's so amazing.
- 25:56It's uh it's terrible.
- 25:58Some of the things, some of the policies are just absolutely terrible.
- 26:02And I think we need to be honest about that.
- 26:06And I think, again, I think it's okay to protest that.
- 26:12It's perfectly fine to protest that peacefully.
- 26:18And I think that people ought to be talking to lawmakers and saying, what is going on?
- 26:26You know, what are some of these policies that are happening right now?
- 26:33But what we're getting from the people who look down on is they look down the brim of their noses, the Billy Eilishes of the world.
- 26:41There are there are no illegal people on stolen land.
- 26:47That's not how this works.
- 26:49And secondly, it's not stolen land.
- 26:52If that's how you feel about this nation, they're just so ungrateful.
- 26:59You know, and then you compare that with again with what Jelly Roll said.
- 27:04He's so grateful.
- 27:06And in fact, let me play this longer clip for you.
- 27:09I was gonna wait until till later in the show, but just while we're on the subject.
- 27:14Listen to how radical the difference is.
- 27:17You can't get more black and white.
- 27:20You can't get more opposite.
- 27:23You you can't.
- 27:30And uh it's the longer clip.
- 27:32And then he gives commentary at the end, which I I won't play here, but uh, he gives a little bit of commentary at the beginning, but listen to this.
- 27:40Platform last night.
- 27:41Check it out.
- 27:41First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I'm listening, Lord.
- 27:44I am listening, Lord.
- 27:47Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife.
- 27:49I would have never changed my life without you.
- 27:50I'd ended up dead or in jail, I'd have killed myself if it wasn't for you and Jesus.
- 27:54I thank you for that.
- 27:55There was a time in my life, y'all, that I was I was broken.
- 27:59That's why I wrote this album.
- 28:01I didn't think I had a chance, y'all.
- 28:02There was days that I thought the darkest things, I was a horrible human.
- 28:05There was a moment in my life that all I had was a Bible this big and a radio the same size and a six by eight foot sale, and I believe that those two things could change my life.
- 28:13I believe that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life.
- 28:18And I want to tell y'all right now, Jesus is for everybody.
- 28:22Jesus is not owned, not one political party.
- 28:25Jesus is not owned, not no music label!
- 28:27Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with him.
- 28:31I love you, Lord.
- 28:34Incredible.
- 28:36Incredible.
- 28:37And they panned to Reba, and Reba was just grinning from ear to ear.
- 28:42She was so proud and uh just so joyful.
- 28:47And you can see the joy on her face.
- 28:49I've always loved Reba.
- 28:51And uh, you know, she's always been positive, and she's never, to my knowledge, gotten sucked into this whole Hollywood trap, and you know, just bashing other people and taking the mortal high road uh by and I'm saying this sarcastically to point point at other people and tell them how to live their lives.
- 29:11She's never been one of those people.
- 29:15And so here you have Billy Eilish, and she's not the only one.
- 29:19There was a whole bunch of them that uh they got up there and just gave these stupid speeches about ice and how awful America is, it's just a it's such a terrible place, it's so awful.
- 29:32You can't be illegal on stolen land, you know, that kind of thing.
- 29:37F ice.
- 29:38Oh, sorry.
- 29:40Huh.
- 29:43Uh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:47You know, you you get that kind of an attitude, and I think that again, that's why people are getting really tired of of what's happening on the left.
- 29:58They really are.
- 29:59That's why.
- 30:00Donald J.
- 30:01Trump is our president right now.
- 30:02People got tired of being preached at by the elitists who are telling everybody else how to live their lives.
- 30:11And telling people that uh, you know, we we need to tighten up our belts and we need to treat the earth better as they roll around on their private jets.
- 30:22People got tired of that.
- 30:25People got really, really tired of hearing this kind of nonsense 24-7.
- 30:32And everything had to turn political.
- 30:34Everything had to turn into some kind of political, either an argument or a demoralization of, you know, the let's say the deplorables.
- 30:46And they started pointing fingers.
- 30:48Rob Schneider talked about that too.
- 30:50And uh, you know, he said it's really interesting in Hollywood.
- 30:55You can say death to Trump.
- 30:59You know, you you can wish for his assassination.
- 31:04And people cheer.
- 31:05You're celebrated.
- 31:08But he said, if you show any kind of support whatsoever, if you show any kind of support for the president, he's like, you're absolutely blacklisted.
- 31:17He said, you'll never find work again.
- 31:21And it's just such a double standard.
- 31:23Again, it's the um the tolerant left.
- 31:29And the more I see what's going on, I've been saying this for over a year now.
- 31:34The more I witness this sharp contrast between the right and the left.
- 31:41I realize that it's they're they're in two very different worlds.
- 31:47They couldn't be farther apart.
- 31:51At least politically.
- 31:54And how you bring those two sides together, which there was a time when people could, when people could act normal.
- 32:03They could have arguments and they could disagree on things.
- 32:09And that was okay.
- 32:10They could they could still come together.
- 32:12Now I'm gonna give an example because I don't want you to think that all hope is lost.
- 32:17Because there are still people who are who are bridging both sides, and certainly Jelly Roll is one of them.
- 32:23I mean, hands down, I think he won the entire show.
- 32:28If you ask me, uh what he said was absolutely just spot on.
- 32:37So backstage, a reporter asked Jelly if if he would share his stance on politics, and he thanked her for raising the topic, and he said, I'm glad somebody asked.
- 32:50And then he said, respectfully, I decline.
- 32:54So he was a gentleman about it, even backstage.
- 32:57They're still pushing them.
- 32:58They're like, what do you think about ice?
- 33:00You know, it's like they they just can't let it go.
- 33:02They, you know, I feel like one of two things.
- 33:06One, which is probably more likely, they want to trap him because they know that since he's not a raving lunatic, that he must not hate ice.
- 33:16And if you don't hate ice, if you're silent, right?
- 33:19That's the argument.
- 33:20If you're silent, then you're guilty.
- 33:24I just saw somebody post that on social media today.
- 33:26It's one of my Facebook air quote friends, posted, like, for anybody being silent about what ice is doing right now, you're you're guilty.
- 33:38And then another one.
- 33:39If you're silent about the Epstein files, you're guilty.
- 33:45Like that thing's a whole nother mess.
- 33:50Just an absolute train wreck of a disaster, which is why Trump was holding off on uh having the files released in the first place because he knew what the media was going to do with it.
- 34:03Exactly what they're doing now.
- 34:04I actually read a good CNN article.
- 34:08I know, I know.
- 34:09That's don't stone me.
- 34:12I read a good CNN article that listed all the things that people are saying about Trump since this this new wave of what was it, like two million pages of documents came public.
- 34:26What everybody's saying about Trump, and they kept saying, and it's probably only because they're afraid of getting sued, but it it felt like honest journalism.
- 34:36They were like, but all of this is completely unfounded.
- 34:40This, you know, these are claims that came out either right before the election and were dropped after the the first election, or they're so basically so absurd, the claims are so absurd, and there's no cooperating evidence that it was dropped by the FBI.
- 35:02They they never investigated it further.
- 35:04By the way, it was the Democratic FBI.
- 35:09They're the ones who did the investigation, and all this stuff is already ran through the FBI.
- 35:15So CNN rightfully said, here are the things that that were uncovered.
- 35:21However, none of this is substantiated.
- 35:26And I thought, I thought that was fair.
- 35:29And they said the same thing with with uh Clinton.
- 35:32Although with Clinton, there are a whole lot more actual photographs of him naked, you know, swimming naked with Maxwell and uh just the really dirty, gross, bizarre stuff.
- 35:49But none of that, none of that exists with Trump.
- 35:53But yet the focus is all on Trump.
- 35:56So at any rate, you know, that's a whole nother topic, but but it's this whole idea if you're silent, then you're guilty.
- 36:03So they're trying to trap jelly roll.
- 36:05I really think that's what's going on.
- 36:07Either that or they genuinely wanted his opinion, but I doubt it.
- 36:12So here's what he said.
- 36:13I'm a dumb redneck man.
- 36:16I haven't watched enough.
- 36:18I didn't have a phone for 18 months.
- 36:21I've had one for four months that I that don't have social media.
- 36:27I've become so disconnected from what's happening.
- 36:31I love that about I love that for jelly roll, and I love that about jelly roll.
- 36:35That's so cool.
- 36:37Keep staying disconnected.
- 36:39You do your music, you do what connects with people.
- 36:43He's not, he doesn't care about social media.
- 36:46It's fantastic.
- 36:48I mean, what a great dude.
- 36:50So he said, when you grow up in a drug addict household, you think we like have common calls about what's happening in world politics.
- 36:59Like we're just trying to find a way to survive, man.
- 37:03I love it.
- 37:04It's just so basic and truthful.
- 37:07What a cool dude.
- 37:09Uh, we're coming up on another break.

- 39:16Now is our time, my fellow Americans.
- 39:19America outmaw.
- 39:22And justice for all.
- 40:00Thing to say about it.
- 40:01And instead, he thanked God and his wife for literally saving his life.
- 40:06He was breaking down crying.
- 40:08And you could hear the passion behind him and the sincerity.
- 40:12You know, that was not a faked speech.
- 40:15That was uh that was sincere from the heart.
- 40:19And it just shows what a stand-up duty is.
- 40:22What a great guy.
- 40:24And he's calling other people to repentance.
- 40:27And that's what I loved about it.
- 40:29I mean, this was this was a gospel speech.
- 40:36And I'm sure the critics will come out and they'll they'll rip them, people on both the right and left.
- 40:43Now the Christians will rip him because he he uses a lot of cuss words, and you know, it's I don't know.
- 40:52They'll find something to rip them on.
- 40:55And of course, the left is going to rip him because he was silent about ice.
- 41:00This was supposed to be an ice bashing fest.
- 41:03And he didn't play by the rules.
- 41:06You know, he he didn't have his little pin, his little button that says ice out.
- 41:14Yeah, that's again the latest fad.
- 41:18They like their little fads.
- 41:20Those buttons will eventually go away.
- 41:24Probably pretty quickly until you know next week or the week after when there's some other big topic, another fad that they jump onto.
- 41:33But uh, yeah, they they turned it into an ice bashing fest, and Jelly Roll didn't play by their rules.
- 41:41And not only didn't he play by the rules, but he thanked Jesus for saving his life.
- 41:49And he said, Jesus is available to everyone.
- 41:54And he's calling people to repentance.
- 41:58He's thanking Jesus and thanking his wife for literally saving his life.
- 42:06I think it's so cool.
- 42:07He was asked backstage, the media asked him, Well, don't you have anything to say about ice?
- 42:15And he's like, uh, no, we're, you know, I don't really know much about it, to be honest.
- 42:21Uh, I don't have enough to have an opinion.
- 42:24So he was pressed on this.
- 42:27They couldn't let it go.
- 42:28And that's another thing about the tolerant left, they can't let things go.
- 42:33They never let things go.
- 42:37So he promised to educate himself and to share his position soon.
- 42:42He said, I have a lot to say about it, and I'm going to in the next week.
- 42:47And everybody's going to hear exactly what I have to say about it in the most loud and clear way I've ever spoken my life.
- 42:55First of all, I'm going to say jelly roll.
- 42:57You don't owe that to anybody.
- 43:00Just because people are pressing you for for an opinion.
- 43:05Like he almost sounds apologetic.
- 43:07Like, oh, I need to do it.
- 43:09Please give me a week and I'll do my research, and then I'll have an opinion about it.
- 43:14And I'll say it loud and clear.
- 43:16I'll give an honest answer.
- 43:20You don't owe that to anybody, buddy.
- 43:25You know, I think that's one of the things.
- 43:27It's, you know, we all get forced into this gotcha where they don't let things go.
- 43:34And I guarantee if he doesn't give an answer, the cancel culture is going to come out in full swing.
- 43:40And in fact, if he gives the wrong answer, which I'm guessing he will.
- 43:45Because he's just going to shoot it straight.
- 43:47You know.
- 43:50He's going to give his opinion, his informed opinion.
- 43:55And no matter what he says, it's it's going to be wrong.
- 44:00Unless it's so radical and so violent, then they'll praise him, you know, like Billy Eilish.
- 44:07Yay, everybody's cheering.
- 44:09F ice.
- 44:13So, yeah, it's kind of a darned if you do, and darned if you don't.
- 44:17And I hate that he's in that position.
- 44:21He doesn't deserve to be in that position.
- 44:22They should have never painted him into that position.
- 44:29So, yeah, the article here, it says that Jelly's a major public figure, and many fans love his story and his message as much as they love his music.
- 44:42Yeah, he's been open about his story of incarceration.
- 44:46He's spoken to lawmakers about the opioid epidemic.
- 44:58His Christian faith.
- 45:01And last December, he received a full pardon of his felony conviction, which is really cool.
- 45:10So it says, uh, so while Jelly hasn't spoken about immigration issues per se, he's got a strong track record of speaking about his experience with the criminal justice system and has vocalized opinions on other policy issues.
- 45:26So, yeah, um, they're just pressing them, man.
- 45:30They won't let it go.
- 45:33They're like making him do his homework over the next week, and almost forcing an answer out of them.
- 45:39And I just think that's a shame.
- 45:42So again, other people, other artists were ice out pins.
- 45:48Um they were supporting protest in their speeches, bad bunny, and it's the same thing.
- 45:58Gave some bizarre basically F ice kind of speech.
- 46:04Olivia Dean.
- 46:08Um, yeah, just kind of sad, but I was saying Jelly Roll is not the only one bridging both sides.
- 46:19Yeah, I really feel like Jelly Roll is a bridge.
- 46:22They says, look, Jesus doesn't have a political affiliation.
- 46:27He doesn't pick sides.
- 46:30Just love him.
- 46:31Repent.
- 46:33Just do what's right.
- 46:36So he he really is building a bridge.
- 46:39Now, whether people cross that bridge or not, that's up to them.
- 46:44I feel like Jelly Roll did his part, but I thought that Shabuzi did a pretty good job too.
- 46:50And he very clearly, I think, does not stand for what's happening with the immigration policies.
- 46:59His mother is an immigrant.
- 47:02And uh he was actually sobbing given the speech.
- 47:06And here's a prime example how you absolutely can pick a side.
- 47:13You can express yourself in a way that honors other people.
- 47:18And it's not in your face, it's not F you.
- 47:21He didn't, he didn't say F ice, he didn't, you know, wave the middle finger and tell people that all these Trumpers are going down.
- 47:29You know, like he didn't talk like that.
- 47:32And I want you to hear his speech.
- 47:34I'm gonna I'm gonna share a short clip from him because I thought Shabuzy had a lot of class.
- 47:39You know, for somebody who very clearly disagrees with the immigration policies, I I thought he did it, he did it with grace.
- 47:49He spoke his opinion.
- 47:52You know, it's a shame that he got roped into to this whole thing of you know, where the Grammys were made about uh turned into ice fest, like one big slushy, you know.
- 48:03They all have their little icy talking about ice.
- 48:09And I don't know if he felt pressured that he had to talk about it, or if it just was on his mind.
- 48:15But either way, whatever, whatever the case, he did it gracefully, and this is how you you can hold an opinion contrary to other people, and you can say what's on your mind, and you can say your truth, and you can say it with grace, and you don't have to point fingers and tear other people down.
- 48:37So Shabuzi, yeah, good job.
- 48:40So here's the clip of him.
- 48:44Um I would also thank my mother who has up today, has retired from her job after 30 years.
- 48:52Um as a registered nurse in a psych ward.
- 49:00Um she worked three to four jobs just to provide for me and my four children uh my four siblings as an immigrant in this country.
- 49:09Ummigrants built this country, literally.
- 49:16So this is for them for all children of immigrants.
- 49:20This is also for those who came to this country in search of better opportunity to be a part of a nation that promised freedom for all the equal opportunities to everyone willing to work for it.
- 49:29Thank you for bringing your culture.
- 49:32All right, so yeah, I I can't disagree with what he said there.
- 49:37I I thought it was great.
- 49:38I thought it was classy.
- 49:40Uh notice that he put in the end for everybody who's willing to work for it.
- 49:45So he made that distinction.
- 49:47And for anybody who's willing to work for it, uh, you know, this it's the land of opportunity.
- 49:55And uh, you know, I got the impression that he.
- 50:00Not for people freeloading.
- 50:04But he, but his heart very clearly is bent towards immigrants.
- 50:10And I like that.
- 50:12I actually like that he has compassion.
- 50:15He gets it.
- 50:17His mom's an immigrant.
- 50:20And you know, he didn't clarify, he didn't say for those who come legally.
- 50:25You know, he didn't clarify any of that.
- 50:27So I don't really know for sure what his position is on legal versus illegal and all that kind of stuff.
- 50:36I just don't know.
- 50:39I have a guess.
- 50:41But I don't know.
- 50:42But whatever, whatever the case, he said what he wanted to say, and he said it impassioned.
- 50:48He was crying.
- 50:50He was grateful.
- 50:52He didn't point fingers.
- 50:54He didn't mention President Trump.
- 50:56Um he didn't mention politicians.
- 50:59He just he said what was on his mind.
- 51:03And he's grateful and he's humble.
- 51:07So that's how it's done.
- 51:08That's how you bridge both parties.
- 51:13This political divide, this political rot gut that's in our country.
- 51:18We can bridge the sides, but it's up to other people whether whether they cross and they shake hands across that bridge.
- 51:28Right?
- 51:28Like we can't force people to get along.
- 51:31We can't force people.
- 51:34And that's part of the problem is people want to force people, both sides.
- 51:38They want to force people, coerce people into their arguments.
- 51:43They want to win arguments.
- 51:45I want to prove that their side is the right side.
- 51:48And that's why I absolutely refuse to bow to any political party.
- 51:54I will not associate with either party.
- 52:00It just not me.
- 52:02I I don't belong to one party.
- 52:05I can't.
- 52:08I I spiritually, physically, mentally, I can't do it because I see so much corruption on both sides.
- 52:19And I see good on both sides.
- 52:29And they've turned violent.
- 52:32And they've, you know, the party that at least claims to be tolerant, maybe at one point they actually were.
- 52:41They're not tolerant at all.
- 52:44Like die hard legalists.
- 52:48They've become the very thing that they say that they were fighting.
- 52:52This extreme legalism that forces people to bend to their will.
- 52:58And if you don't, they're out for blood.
- 53:02Literally.
- 53:05And they protest and resist.
- 53:11And destroy and loot.
- 53:16And force their views on people.
- 53:21Absolutely, 100%, hands down.
- 53:25And that's where Jelly Roll and Shabuzy, I think they really paved the way.
- 53:31They really showed the way.
- 53:32They showed us how to have grace and compassion.
- 53:35Even Shabuzi, who brought up the issue of immigration, he did it very respectfully.
- 53:44He did it very gracefully.
- 53:48And I appreciated that.
- 53:52That was pretty cool.
- 53:55And it just shows there's nothing wrong with holding an opinion.
- 54:00You don't have to be afraid to say your opinion.
- 54:04Say what's on your mind, let your yes be yes and your no be no.
- 54:08And you move on in life.
- 54:12And he did exactly that.
- 54:14He honored his mom.
- 54:17He was grateful to live in a country that uh you know, where his immigrant mom had a chance.
- 54:25She was given opportunity.
- 54:27And he made that very clear.
- 54:31So this is how I think it's how we can bridge, you know, build that bridge between both sides.
- 54:41How we can get rid of the divide that's growing deeper and deeper.
- 54:46There are a lot of scars in this nation.
- 54:48There really are.
- 54:50And it's up to us to actually work to kind of heal those scars, heal those wounds.
- 55:01So I really commend uh first of all, jelly roll.
- 55:05That just I can't, I just can't be grateful enough for what he said for the words that he said, even if you're not a Christian, even if you, you know, you're not a believer.
- 55:17If if you can look at what he said and you can be angry and you can criticize him, that says way more about your character than it does jelly rolls.
- 55:26I mean, way more.
- 55:30That's where for the people who can point fingers at him, talk about what a low life he is, and he didn't he didn't bring up ice.
- 55:39He has a platform.
- 55:41I had people do that to me before.
- 55:43You have a platform, and you're not using it to I'm like, that's because it's not what my platform's for.
- 55:53I teach people about prevention of child sexual abuse.
- 55:56It's I'm not a right, my platform was not built to stand up to whatever the next injustice is or what you think is an injustice.
- 56:09I had this one lady, she just wouldn't let it go, and I was like, just get lost.
- 56:12I'm like, it's you're not gonna coerce me into using my platform.
- 56:17And she was appalled.
- 56:18She's like, I can I can't believe you won't use your platform to be angry about I don't even remember what it was.
- 56:28It's because it just who cares.
- 56:34So, yeah, I I mean, when people point fingers at other people, and that's their stance.
- 56:42I want to tell people how wrong they are, how awful they are, how how inhumane and terrible and cruel they are.
- 56:49Usually at that point, you just kind of you just walk away.
- 56:52You're like, all right, you know, appreciate your opinion, but take it to somebody else.
- 56:59But what Shabuzi and Jelly Roll did, I thought super classy, and we need more of this in America.
- 57:08Uh absolutely fantastic.
- 57:10That, my friends, is the hidden lightness.
- 57:12You can find more out about my show and get all the latest podcasts if you go to the menu navigation bar at America Outloud.news under our shows were scheduled.
