Latest / Elon Musk Podcast / Tesla Semi Delivery Event
Transcript
- 0:00All right, welcome to Sparks Nevada.
- 0:01A set of the Tesla gigafactory and out as a semi truck Factory
- 0:05as well so that can't believe it's been five years.
- 0:09So we had we unveiled the Tesla semi five years ago been a lot
- 0:14that's happened since then say the least.
- 0:16So we're incredibly excited tonight to actually deliver our
- 0:20first production Tesla semi trucks.
- 0:29And it's right next door to the Giga.
- 0:31Nevada are gigafactory here which produces the most number
- 0:36of battery cells, and North America, produces a drive units
- 0:41and battery packs, and yeah. So I just like to start off by
- 0:45giving it a big hand to the chest gigafactory team and the
- 0:48Tesla semi-truck team. It's like so and I think you've
- 0:51had a chance to tour the production line.
- 0:54So Go. Right.
- 0:56And yeah, we're looking forward to actually delivering our first
- 0:59production trucks to PepsiCo so it's going to be fantastic.
- 1:05Yeah and also a huge thank you to all of our other customers
- 1:08mean, a lots happened in the last five years and our
- 1:11customers have been super loyal and supportive and you stuck
- 1:14with us and then a huge part of our development and we're
- 1:16excited to show everything that we've been doing off to
- 1:18everybody tonight great. So let's get started.
- 1:25Yeah. So Yeah, sorry for the delay.
- 1:29So it's been like sheer number. Sheer amount of drama between
- 1:33this, this is the last of that five years ago and now is a lot
- 1:36has happened in the world, but here we are Azrael.
- 1:40So, Yeah, we threw a great party if you few years back and trying
- 1:49to do a similar thing here tonight and Tesla's been growing
- 1:53like crazy. I mean, everybody here has been,
- 1:55you know, contributing towards the growth and unveiling awesome
- 1:58products and really scaling us to the point.
- 1:59That now we can actually work on semi and we're really excited to
- 2:02do that, but we've been working a little bit on the background,
- 2:05close the chest. You'll right level of priority.
- 2:06But, you know, made a lot of progress incorporate, a lot of
- 2:09things that we're going to talk about and at the end of the day,
- 2:12we have not wavered from our mission to build the most
- 2:15compelling greatest. Class 8 truck in history so
- 2:17we're going to keep putting our foot forward to do that and
- 2:20yeah, it's pretty awesome. So you might wonder why build a
- 2:34semi truck because if you look at the actual unit volume, it's
- 2:37small compared to passenger vehicle.
- 2:39So for passenger vehicles, you know, there's on the order of
- 2:42almost 100 million that are sold every year and whereas
- 2:48semi-trucks it's for for 500,000, not even yet a couple
- 2:51hundred thousand Class 8 trucks here.
- 2:53Bubbly yeah are no. No sorry that's u.s.
- 2:55Yeah. So it's so there's you know, So
- 2:59the US says quote like 15 million passenger vehicles and a
- 3:03couple hundred thousand semi truck.
- 3:05So it seems like a small percentage but it's actually 20
- 3:08percent of u.s. vehicle emissions because you've got a
- 3:11huge vehicle and it's being driven all the time.
- 3:14So when you factor in the number of hours driven and the weight
- 3:18that it's carrying, it's actually a low.
- 3:20It's only 1% of vehicle production.
- 3:21It's 20% of vehicle emissions and it's over a third of all the
- 3:26particulate emissions. So from a sort of Health,
- 3:29Standpoint particularly in like cities.
- 3:31This is a huge impact like gigantic so that's why we're
- 3:35doing it, you know. So you see ya Yeah, this is this
- 3:43is really core to our mission and do you want some point?
- 3:46There's a lot of heavy trucks that are deployed in dense,
- 3:49urban areas. And so the communities that are
- 3:50around freeways, a lot of where these trucks are domiciled are
- 3:53going to really benefit particularly from the
- 3:54particulate emissions reductions and then you've just trying to
- 3:57reduce emissions globally. Every truck that we put on the
- 4:00road that replaces, a diesel truck is a huge amount of
- 4:02Leverage. And so that's that is why we're
- 4:04doing this and makes a huge difference towards driving us
- 4:07towards our total mission of sustainable energy and
- 4:09transportation. Yeah, Think maybe a lot of
- 4:11people don't realize. It's actually like, you know,
- 4:13quite unhealthy to be living next to a highway with with
- 4:16diesel trucks. FYI.
- 4:19So so being able to make them electric is just going to be
- 4:22just in addition to sort of climate change and global
- 4:26warming matters, it's all so quiet and it's going to improve
- 4:31the quality of your air and it will actually just fundamentally
- 4:34improve. The health of people living near
- 4:36freeways which is of the super big deal.
- 4:38You have anybody's been woken up at a noisy Truck delivering in
- 4:41the morning. They're the quiet will
- 4:42definitely be very welcome. I know, I will appreciate that.
- 4:45Yeah, so we're aiming to cover all the NATO major forms of
- 4:49Transport. It's just consistent with the
- 4:50Tesla Mission because sometimes I get asked like well no
- 4:53shouldn't Tesla just produced like, you know, fast cars or
- 4:58premium cars or whatever, it's like.
- 5:01But but once our actual Mission actual mission is to accelerate
- 5:04the Advent of sustainable energy.
- 5:06So that's why we're making this wide range of cars that don't
- 5:09really make Sense from a brand standpoint I guess
- 5:12traditionally, but their make total sense.
- 5:14When you consider what's the mission of the company?
- 5:17Mission of the company is to accelerate sustainable energy
- 5:19and so it's super consistent with that goal and really a
- 5:23crucial piece of the puzzle and that's why we're doing it.
- 5:26Yeah and I mean Elon you first laid this out in master plan
- 5:29part, duh. And you know, now we're here to
- 5:31actually make it happen and everything from the mission side
- 5:36along with reducing the cost of cargo transport and also make it
- 5:39fun. I mean we want to make the truck
- 5:41than awesome Driving Experience. Make a kick-ass for the drivers.
- 5:45Yeah, I mean it looks sick. I mean you want to drive that?
- 5:56I mean that thing looks like it came from the future.
- 5:58It mean it drives like a like sites.
- 6:01Like driving is, you know that Tesla literally, it's fun.
- 6:04It looks awesome. And you know there's this is
- 6:07actually a big shortage of drivers and so if your truck
- 6:11driver and you want the most badass rig on the road, this is
- 6:13it. Yeah that's it.
- 6:24It's a beast. So you know at Tesla we don't
- 6:27make slow cars. We don't make this.
- 6:30This thing has crazy power relative to a diesel truck.
- 6:35I mean actually especially if you don't have if you're not
- 6:37towing anything you could zip around like it just looks crazy
- 6:40basically. Looks like a elephant moving
- 6:42like a cheetah just didn't look right correctly but it's it's,
- 6:45this isn't, this is not sluggish in the least, it's fast.
- 6:49It's fast to accelerate. It's fast to break.
- 6:53It's A step change Improvement. What?
- 6:55It's like to drive a semi truck. Yeah.
- 6:57When we got three times, the power three times the power than
- 7:01any diesel truck on the road right now.
- 7:02So you got all the work, all the power you need to get the job
- 7:04done. But the other reason that it's a
- 7:06beast is because it's also efficient.
- 7:08And you can go 500 miles on a single charge on one of these
- 7:11things. So it's the mix of those two
- 7:13that this is why this is a game changer and what's awesome.
- 7:15Is both of those are enabled by our new thousand volt power
- 7:19train which is the first vehicle that we're doing with that and
- 7:21don't worry, they'll be some more things.
- 7:22More vehicles coming. And with that.
- 7:24But this is going to be a game-changer because of all the
- 7:26awesome innovations that have happened behind the scenes and
- 7:29under the hood, so to speak. Cool.
- 7:33Yeah. So we're obviously leveraging
- 7:36leveraging, a ton of stuff that we've already done.
- 7:39So, we've got what's not probably fifty 1 billion miles
- 7:43driven. I don't know if he's more every
- 7:45day, so we're using our existing drive units Power, Electronics
- 7:49input, tainment are super efficient, heat pump track
- 7:52system and state-of-the-art inverters.
- 7:54So we're able to leverage the existing power train and
- 7:59elements that are already made at volume in order to Extreme
- 8:03efficiency of cost and capability.
- 8:07Yeah, and also means we get to leverage.
- 8:08All the reliability that the active car Fleet is doing so
- 8:12we're accumulating. All these miles getting a ton of
- 8:13demonstrated learnings into the field and we're going to go and
- 8:16put all these trucks into the world and get a lot of learnings
- 8:18as well. But we're coming off of a great
- 8:20launching pad with everything that's done in the rest of our
- 8:22products already. And it's also enabled because
- 8:25Tesla's got this full vertical integration, on the software and
- 8:28the hardware side. So the teams that are working
- 8:31together to put all that. That together into one package.
- 8:33This is a huge win for all of our products, but particularly
- 8:36semi Let's a hardcore testing. So I mean, when things about a
- 8:44commercial truck, is that the reliability has to be extremely
- 8:47high so it's good. He's got to be running
- 8:49continuously can't break down. It's going to handle every kind
- 8:52of weather. Uptime is super important for
- 8:55any kind of semi truck. So we've tested durability in
- 8:57every kind of weather, every kind of environment.
- 8:59I mean, you could. Yeah, yeah, I mean we so even
- 9:03just we've driven Donner, we'll talk a little bit more about
- 9:05that in a moment, but we've been through hot cold snow rain.
- 9:08We've been putting this thing through Faces in the lab as well
- 9:11as in the real world. The simulation team has been
- 9:13doing an incredible job of being able to scale all of that in the
- 9:17virtual side. And the other thing is that
- 9:20we're going to take these and we're going to put our money
- 9:21where our mouth is and we're going to put these on into our
- 9:23own Fleet into our own supply chain.
- 9:26And we're going to use this to transport goods between our
- 9:29factories and our suppliers because we believe in it, not
- 9:32just from a mission perspective in a cost perspective but
- 9:34because we want to close that feedback loop.
- 9:36We got to get that learning as fast as we can.
- 9:38We want it straight from the drivers went straight from the
- 9:40service techs that are working on it.
- 9:42We're going to take all that data that's coming in and
- 9:45continue to and find the product and make it better.
- 9:46Just like we do on the car side. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:49So to be clear, like, we're these cement trucks are running
- 9:5324/7 between Sparks technically and Sparks not Reno, but most
- 9:58people think of it as Reno Reno, Reno, Sparks and Tahoe.
- 10:01And yeah, this is technically, the called the Tahoe Reno
- 10:04industrial complex or has an interesting back story about why
- 10:07it's called that very, yeah. Ha ha ha.
- 10:12So anyway it's the Tesla using a trucks continuously then night
- 10:19between here and Fremont and back again is going to be is an
- 10:23a great test of the vehicle and will give us a great feedback
- 10:26loop for continuing to improve the product.
- 10:32So I click is sort of not working memory Oreo.
- 10:36All right, so yeah we've got to try and Order powertrain system
- 10:40so and there we're using the cognitive reps leave.
- 10:44So, since we're using that the The Plaid Model S model X power,
- 10:47train. And but it we're actually
- 10:51enabling the to of the drive units to actually disconnect so
- 10:56that they're not free spinning. The efficiency is actually much
- 10:59greater in Cruise. Yeah, this is really unique and
- 11:01we were to go with it. Why motor system?
- 11:03One of them is constantly engaged, so that's for maximum
- 11:06efficiency. You're getting a highway that's
- 11:07doing the bulk of the work and it's operating at the peak
- 11:09efficiency point of the entire drivetrain and then the other
- 11:12two units are for torque and acceleration.
- 11:15So when the driver needs it to get their job done, whether
- 11:17that's getting out of a loading dock or it's on the road and you
- 11:19pass somebody. You're tackling a grade.
- 11:21You have the torque and power to do it.
- 11:23And the cool thing is that these are clutched automatically so no
- 11:27driver input needed but it's also seamless.
- 11:29So the highway efficiency unit is cruising along.
- 11:32Doing its thing. And if the driver puts their
- 11:34foot to the floor, the torque units, pinup clutch, engages and
- 11:37takes over. And it does all of that before.
- 11:40We've maxed out the torque on the efficiency units so it's
- 11:42completely smooth. There's no turbo lag, or
- 11:45jerkiness or anything like that, no driver input needed, it's
- 11:48smooth. Both in terms of acceleration
- 11:50and deceleration for region. It's really cool.
- 11:53Happening all behind the scenes. What I find actually really wild
- 11:57about this is you can have it a truck which is 82,000 pounds.
- 12:01And by the way We reason we can actually do 82,000 pounds is
- 12:04that there is a 2,000-pound extra, that's allowed by law for
- 12:08electric trucks. So you get a little bit of a
- 12:10advantage on the, on the, on the weight side but you can
- 12:13basically put 82,000 pounds on at Crews using and the only
- 12:19thing that's doing that is a tiny little motor on one axle.
- 12:22Know that big bubble? Football-sized ma'am.
- 12:24Yeah, you can carry it. Yeah.
- 12:26Like it's like a you know you can check it in your luggage.
- 12:30Good luck that doing that with a diesel engine and one.
- 12:32Of those is more powerful than a diesel.
- 12:34Yeah, yeah. Just that just that one little
- 12:36guy is but it's more powerful than a regular diesel engine on
- 12:39a semi truck but it's just I find it amazing.
- 12:41That this enormous thing can be pulled by something that you
- 12:43could carry in your hands. It's like wow that's power
- 12:46density. Yep.
- 12:54And then in terms of we're putting this to use in the real
- 12:57world. Yeah, so that that trucks
- 13:06clocking in at 82, that's when 82,000 pounds.
- 13:10And when you see that pass shot again, you'll notice you'll
- 13:14notice that speedometer is climbing, you know, we're going
- 13:176% and accelerating up. That grade.
- 13:20This is yeah, this is where it comes in.
- 13:23Yeah, it's really, it's like driving a normal car, not like
- 13:26driving a truck. It's just that you're removing
- 13:2882,000 pounds. Yeah, the show is brought to you
- 13:30by backblaze, I use back place to back up my podcast.
- 13:34My video files, all of my writing stuff, and all my
- 13:37photos. And you get unlimited computer
- 13:39backup, for Macs and PCs for just $7 a month.
- 13:43You can backup your own documents photos videos,
- 13:45drawings projects, all of your data and access Backed up data
- 13:50from anywhere in the world using the web app and you can access
- 13:53the files on your mobile to iOS Android apps all covered.
- 13:57And this is the cool part. This is my favorite part.
- 13:58You can restore it by mail or hard drive will come to your
- 14:01house with all your data shipped to your door.
- 14:04I could come to your business to and you can restore return
- 14:07refund program so you can buy a hard drive restore, send the
- 14:10hard drive back within 30 days and get a full refund.
- 14:13So basically they ship you this hard drive and then you ship it
- 14:17back and you don't ever pay for it.
- 14:18Which Is the perfect program for somebody who has huge files.
- 14:21You don't want to waste days and days, downloading terabytes and
- 14:25teraflops of data. And if you're worried about
- 14:27accidentally, deleting your files to bucks extra month, you
- 14:31can increase your retention history to one year, and I use
- 14:34it for all of my video. Files comes in super handy.
- 14:37So seven dollars plus two dollars nine dollars a month and
- 14:40you get everything backed up. He's a mind for up to a year.

- 15:25card required go there sign up I you with it it's really powerful
- 15:30and is really easy to use. So go to back.
- 15:32Plays.com / heel on back plays.com Ilan.
- 15:37Backblaze.com Ilan. Yeah.
- 15:41So any Highway grade? You come across you can tackle
- 15:44at speed. Yeah, there's no compromise, no
- 15:46slow down, no. And the other beauty is You've
- 15:49got all this power going up but you also have it going down and
- 15:52what that means is you've got regenerative braking.
- 15:54So, rather than using a jake brake or engine braking, like a
- 15:57diesel truck does where you have to worry about hitting your
- 15:58shifts. If you miss a gear, you're on
- 16:00your brakes and potentially in a runaway situation, you have to
- 16:03worry about any of that. There's no shifting them.
- 16:05Nothing. And so the re Gendry captures
- 16:07all that energy as you're going down, these grades.
- 16:09But on top of it, it also has a safer system for not just the
- 16:12driver, but everybody on the road because there's no gear to
- 16:15miss. Yeah.
- 16:17Just it's worth re-emphasizing that point.
- 16:19Because it's an electric drivetrain.
- 16:21When it goes downhill, you actually or when you slow down a
- 16:24tree captures, the energy of motion or the energy of height.
- 16:29The potential and kinetic, energy are largely recapture,
- 16:32whereas for a diesel truck that's not possible.
- 16:34You can't just create diesel, so it you just end up hitting
- 16:39brakes and, and then your brakes overheat and you can't use them.
- 16:42And then it's actually quite as pretty dangerous because you're
- 16:45the brakes stopped working. Yeah, that's why you have
- 16:47runaway truck ramps. Yeah, And it's funny because
- 16:50it's so if any of you that are driven I-80 and driven Donner
- 16:52there's a mandatory break, check stop for trucks down by Emigrant
- 16:56Gap. We've done this as really funny
- 16:58because we'll go over the grade will come down and we just kind
- 17:01of pulled aside and like, well, there's nothing to check.
- 17:03We've never used the things and we just keep driving.
- 17:05Yeah, we get to the bottom of the hill.
- 17:07We have cold breaks. Yeah.
- 17:09That's like mind-blowing interred in the trucking world,
- 17:12so it's like insane basically. And you can sew So it's it's
- 17:22really worth emphasizing that that's a significant safety
- 17:24Improvement for the truck driver and for other people on the
- 17:27road. And and the we also have in
- 17:30traction control because the Precision of an electric motor
- 17:34is vastly better than a diesel engine.
- 17:36You know, it's sort of got like the trying to get the right now
- 17:40to hear it like Scott the Precision of like a laser
- 17:43printer. It's not great.
- 17:44It's like really precise. I'm saying, and and the reaction
- 17:49is sort of like you don't have to worry about, try like
- 17:53traction controls, awesome. It's got its automatically
- 17:56stopping the truck from jackknifing.
- 17:58It's doing all the safety stuff in the background that just
- 18:02isn't possible with regular diesel trucks.
- 18:04It's a step change in technology in so many ways.
- 18:09Yeah, and the tight integration with the software team that we
- 18:12have here, really makes that happen because it means that we
- 18:14could take all that. Precision and actually put it to
- 18:17use. You know, it's not some time and
- 18:19if some third party powertrain oh this is all in house.
- 18:21As we do this really neat, your chassis control work at the
- 18:24break level, the traction control level, we integrate with
- 18:26our total stability control system and make sure that the
- 18:28driver has a lot of confidence, but also has everything they
- 18:31need to stay on the road. It's going to be it's a really
- 18:33nice neat. Integrated package overall in
- 18:35terms of software and control and it's totally seamless to the
- 18:38driver. It'll be a game changer in terms
- 18:40of safety. Yep.
- 18:48So we talk power. You want to talk efficiency?
- 18:50Yeah, absolutely. So you know, some people out
- 18:53there say, it can't be done. I don't know who might say that,
- 18:56but I've heard rumors Anna, so we just did it.
- 19:00Yeah. We're going to post the whole
- 19:08video unedited on YouTube and No jump Cuts.
- 19:13Yeah, and this wasn't, you know, some Ultra Clean precise, test
- 19:18track, simulation or something? Where we shut down a road.
- 19:21Nope, this is real world, this is over Grapevine.
- 19:24This is with traffic. This is true 500 miles.
- 19:27We were loaded just under 82 K you know we didn't know special
- 19:30Arrow treatments for came off the line.
- 19:32Shook it down. Made it run, that's it.
- 19:35Yeah, it was like No fast moves here, that would be clear.
- 19:38It's not like, oh, what? What did, what tricks did they
- 19:40pull, what? They actually a whole bunch of
- 19:42Tricks we could have pulled? Yeah.
- 19:43And then so, you know, like as Dan said, like no special Arrow
- 19:47treat the oh and by the way we should mention.
- 19:49There was no charging like we charge it.
- 19:51Yeah we didn't stop to charge single single driver one shot.
- 19:53Exactly. Yeah, good point.
- 19:55So yeah so it's not like 500 Miles like with no load with
- 20:01special arrow and special everything.
- 20:03It's like fully loaded going from The Bay Area, we actually
- 20:07have to like go but North to get, you know, actually add to
- 20:10get to 500 Miles because you get l.a. do the barriers less than
- 20:14that. Well, we were all the way to San
- 20:15Diego here. So we that's what we stress on
- 20:17the southern end and I mean you want to see on the video.
- 20:20I mean yeah we have the proof of silly.
- 20:22So It's only eight hours long. So yeah, Block Island.
- 20:30Don't worry, brought lots of snacks.
- 20:32Yeah. Yes.
- 20:37Standard trip. Down the five up Grapevine,
- 20:42through LA traffic construction. We got the bypass in the weigh
- 20:46station, but running full 80, or just under 80 to full.
- 20:50Deliveries nothing to hide. Yeah.
- 20:54Yeah, real world. It's yeah, it's he did take one
- 20:57restroom break for their, there is a required mandatory
- 21:0130-minute break within the first eight hours of operation took a
- 21:03small restroom break. That was it?
- 21:04Yep. So, aerodynamic efficiency
- 21:16obviously matters a lot and you can see it's shaped like a
- 21:18bullet. It's really are Dynamic and that
- 21:21helps a lot as we get less than 2 million kilowatt hours per
- 21:25kilowatt hours of Mile. Yep.
- 21:27So and that's the name of the game is efficiency there?
- 21:30Yep. Yep.
- 21:31So yeah. I mean it's really efficient in
- 21:34every way and I mean that Teams on a lot of awesome work.
- 21:37I mean, yes. We went to the wind tunnel with
- 21:40this really cool model. Rolling Road, the whole nine
- 21:42yards and pulled in a lot of learnings, at all our features
- 21:45from the car side that you give us such great real-world
- 21:47efficiency there and really want to make sure that the, the truck
- 21:51and the trailer have to work together.
- 21:52Yeah, this is a combination. This is not just the truck if
- 21:55you optimize one you actually might disrupt the whole
- 21:57combination. And so we spent a lot of time
- 21:59both virtually but also in the wind tunnel to make this happen
- 22:03and really some next-level engineering to have everything
- 22:06they had There and you know, it means that we've got a really
- 22:09efficient Truck. Yeah.
- 22:18As I said it's easy to drive as a model 3 just like was
- 22:22basically no training you can drive this you knows you have to
- 22:26think bigger when you're driving it but it's not like it's not
- 22:29hard drive it's really easy and we put the center it, put the
- 22:33seen the center for Max visibility low flow, you can
- 22:35stand up in the cabin. Yeah that's actually a really
- 22:38big deal. I mean I mean you're tall guy.
- 22:40You on like you're able to stand up just fine.
- 22:42And nice thing is that if your truck driver and you're out
- 22:44during the day and it's you know, it's cold, it's snowing.
- 22:47He whatever you can get in. And this isn't a sleeper cab is
- 22:50a day cab. You can still stand up and you
- 22:52can, you shed your jacket, put on the wall?
- 22:54All in the comfort, you can put your coveralls on wall in the
- 22:56cab. So you have to go do a dirty
- 22:57job. You can do that comfortably as
- 22:59opposed to being out in the elements.
- 23:01So that's, you know, that level of space is unheard of, we're
- 23:03able to do that with some pretty Innovative packaging.
- 23:05And on top of it there's plenty of cargo storage for drivers
- 23:08need to bring any tools other equipment along not to mention
- 23:12you know, we've got the plugins, the wireless charging everything
- 23:14they need on the electronic side as well.
- 23:17Yep. Yeah, so I've got efficiency and
- 23:27every aspect of the vehicle. I've got one touch a suspension
- 23:30dump so you can it's very easy to attach to the trailer.
- 23:33It saves time and money. It's the fleet's more efficient,
- 23:35the drivers home sooner. Yeah, I mean really we're trying
- 23:38to extend the idea of this efficiency from not just while
- 23:41you're on the road but into the yard as well this before.
- 23:43And after the truck has done its job on the road because that
- 23:46means that your drivers at the end of the day are spending less
- 23:50time at the yard and they're getting home earlier and makes
- 23:53their Lives easier. We got a light test, that's
- 23:55easy, execute helps with compliance.
- 23:57There's all these little things that the design team really
- 23:59spent their time. You have researching, they did
- 24:01ride-alongs. They studied, they did.
- 24:03All this work is really cool to watch the, put them in.
- 24:05I think they even took like a bunch of like the various cups
- 24:09and put them in CAD and you'll see them like put them in
- 24:11various cup holders, sizes, and places.
- 24:13They'll like mock up a bag. They'll do all kinds of neat
- 24:15stuff to understand how a driver Works throughout the day and it
- 24:19means that they'll have a more efficient experience overall.
- 24:24Yeah. I've seen to charge at a truck
- 24:33like this quickly, you need high power chargers.
- 24:35So we developed a megawatt class charger as it's capable of
- 24:39charging unit megawatt to DC and its next-generation immersive
- 24:44cooling. So it's liquid cooled.
- 24:46So you don't need like a gigantic elephant trunk of a
- 24:48cable, you can actually have a small small cable and that
- 24:51cabled delivers a megawatt and get with 3x.
- 24:55The current density. I mean, this is really cool
- 24:57stuff. I mean, we took your actually
- 25:00immersing the conductor in the coolant, this water-based
- 25:05coolant that we have and we're done doing some really neat
- 25:08isolation monitoring on the back end to ensure that it's safe and
- 25:11delivering that it needs to. But it means that we can really
- 25:13shove a lot of current have very, very small place.
- 25:16So you know for those that have worked in charge their cars on a
- 25:18V3 supercharger and that cables, nice and maneuverable, it's the
- 25:22same thing here but now we're just shoving a megawatt through
- 25:25it instead. So this is key for For high
- 25:28power applications like semi. But you want to tell him he told
- 25:32me to tell him. Yeah.
- 25:34I mean it's going to be used for Savage truck to.
- 25:36Yeah. So this is this is coming to our
- 25:42superchargers next year. Yeah.
- 25:52So the future transport officer requires a sustainable energy
- 25:55infrastructure. So you got to have all aspects
- 25:58of the energy question answered sustainable, power generation.
- 26:04Then you've got to store the power and then you transfer the
- 26:06power to the vehicle. So like the three pillars of a
- 26:09sustainable energy future, a sustainable power generation
- 26:11with solar and wind. I'm actually a fan of nuclear
- 26:14which we should support, and, and geothermal and many others.
- 26:17But things that are sustainable, long-term we But things like
- 26:21wind and solar intimate and so you have to have the battery
- 26:23pack to store the energy. So when the wind doesn't blow
- 26:25and the sun doesn't shine, you still have energy and you can
- 26:28also buffer the power. So you're not overloading the
- 26:30grid with Spike loads. Yeah.
- 26:32And our semi customers are actively deploying this today
- 26:34and we're working with them so that they have the pathway to
- 26:37get towards 100% sustainable future.
- 26:40But we have all of this at our disposal, you know, commercial
- 26:42solar and mega pack. And the mega pack is great
- 26:44because not only can it do things like shaving or some of
- 26:47the other energy modulation, but it also, So provides a form of
- 26:51redundancy and backup. I mean if we're going to ask you
- 26:53a fleet to take on these trucks and run them, they needed to
- 26:56ensure they're gonna be able to charge them and keep their Fleet
- 26:59running in the event of a power outage.
- 27:00And that's one of things that we can do with the mega pack on
- 27:03site as well. So, and first deliveries are now
- 27:11yeah. So we're just like to thank
- 27:22PepsiCo. They've been a great partner.
- 27:24Hey guys. Okay, let's go.
- 27:31So yeah. We completed our first two cargo
- 27:33run with a very enormous amount of Frito-Lay's, which I'm sure
- 27:37we have a lot of them here. Yeah.
- 27:52And yesterday we were actually able to complete our first
- 27:56delivery compliments of Frito-Lay.
- 27:58We took a truck down to their Modesto Factory from here and
- 28:01one of their drivers we delivered the truck.
- 28:03They took it over and they brought back a load of snacks
- 28:06for everybody here to enjoy tonight.
- 28:11Yep. So big thanks to Kirk and Even.
- 28:16Yeah, as weird as I say anything.
- 28:19All right, look, nothing like this happens without amazing
- 28:23people. And so I just want to thank the
- 28:25people that spent countless hours to make this a reality.
- 28:29That's it. But people, That's it.
- 28:34I just want to Echo. I know a lot of work went into
- 28:36it and this is fantastic. We're about to deliver today.
- 28:39So thank you. Yeah, thanks for letting us be a
- 28:41part of this. Thank you so much.
- 28:43Appreciate you. Thank you, Dan.
- 28:50All right. Alright, so thank you all.
- 28:57Thank you all for coming. It's been a long fight, long
- 28:59journey along for five years, but this is going to really
