- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls, it's your favorite time
- 0:05Speaker 1: of week. You get to download the Crazy Sheet, you
- 0:07Speaker 1: get to talk about some college football. Scottie and Mark
- 0:10Speaker 1: are back, baby. We have not been online since literally
- 0:15Speaker 1: the gig week before the National championship. Man, how the
- 0:17Speaker 1: hell are you, brothers?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Man? I'm good.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Just perusing the latest release of the UH. I guess
- 0:26Speaker 3: what they're hoping is going to be. Congress is fixed
- 0:28Speaker 3: for college sports. A lot of interesting nuggets in this
- 0:32Speaker 3: I've been going through today. Forty eight and a half
- 0:34Speaker 3: million max they can spend UH. That's everything. That's a
- 0:38Speaker 3: boosters private revenue sharing everything. Five million dollars is the
- 0:43Speaker 3: cap for baseball, women's softball, and a couple of other
- 0:47Speaker 3: sports I can't remember. Meaning that's the cap for the
- 0:50Speaker 3: sports combined. Fascinating number there, because I guarantee you a
- 0:54Speaker 3: couple of these schools are spending a hell of lot
- 0:57Speaker 3: more than five million dollars on women's softball and baseball
- 1:00Speaker 3: and volleyball, and some of.
- 1:01Speaker 2: That, I would guess.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I certainly know some of the SEC teams were hanging
- 1:06Speaker 3: pretty big numbers up there in baseball. I ain't gonna
- 1:09Speaker 3: leave a whole lot of money left for some of
- 1:10Speaker 3: these other sports gonna be fascinating.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Course, I will tell you.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I've told my friends of this that are and I
- 1:15Speaker 3: know in athletic departments and their lawyers and kind of
- 1:17Speaker 3: involved in this. You're an idiot if you're giving any
- 1:19Speaker 3: of these girls money. All they do is lose, and
- 1:21Speaker 3: they don't do anything for you unless they're really hot
- 1:24Speaker 3: and they got a huge social media presence, and that
- 1:26Speaker 3: into be chauvinistic or anything, it's.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Just it is what it is. It does nothing for you.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I mean, occasionally there's gonna be a Caitlyn Clark or
- 1:34Speaker 3: you know, somebody like that. What was the girl a
- 1:36Speaker 3: few years ago, the softball player that oh gosh, it
- 1:43Speaker 3: was an air zone. You know, she was the Olympian
- 1:45Speaker 3: years ago, this twenty three. Yeahs, any pinch that you
- 1:50Speaker 3: get girls like that, I mean there's people like that
- 1:51Speaker 3: that are always gonna be transcendent, and but they're in
- 1:55Speaker 3: this age. They're gonna make so much money on social media,
- 1:58Speaker 3: does it matter. I mean, State had a girl that
- 1:59Speaker 3: had a couple of million followers in softball a couple
- 2:02Speaker 3: of years ago because she was cute. She did it
- 2:04Speaker 3: all herself. I mean, how much money is the university
- 2:07Speaker 3: really got to give them? There's some fascinating nuggets in
- 2:10Speaker 3: this deal. Boy, forty eight million, that's a lot of
- 2:14Speaker 3: cheese to go around. I mean they say there's thirty
- 2:16Speaker 3: schools or so spending more than that right now. I
- 2:19Speaker 3: can certainly believe that. You know, Texas, Ohio State, you
- 2:22Speaker 3: know those guys are. But man's a that's a big,
- 2:28Speaker 3: big number. I mean, that's the mac you can spend.
- 2:32Speaker 3: But how many people are really gonna be able to
- 2:34Speaker 3: spend forty eight and a half million dollars?
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know. It's gonna be an interesting space. So
- 2:38Speaker 1: a couple of things, man, let's run through this. We're
- 2:40Speaker 1: gonna a quick show for you. We're gonna dive into
- 2:42Speaker 1: the conference previews as we get rolling for the next
- 2:44Speaker 1: couple of weeks. Try to get everything ready ironed out
- 2:47Speaker 1: so that we're ready for week zero. As we get
- 2:49Speaker 1: this thing rolling, a couple of points, I want to
- 2:51Speaker 1: talk about college football, just in generally. You know, we've
- 2:54Speaker 1: been doing this podcast for eighteen years now, Scott, we're
- 2:57Speaker 1: probably the brokest podcasters ever that have been doing this
- 3:00Speaker 1: for eighteen years. When we told people we had a
- 3:02Speaker 1: podcast eighteen years ago. Most people we knew didn't even
- 3:05Speaker 1: know what a didn't even have an iPod to begin with.
- 3:08Speaker 1: To be bonest with you, but here we are doing
- 3:10Speaker 1: this all again, doing it for the love of the game.
- 3:12Speaker 1: We always enjoy hearing from the folks that were out there.
- 3:15Speaker 1: We're too old to really understand how to operate around
- 3:17Speaker 1: Twitter and make sure we can maximize it. But we
- 3:19Speaker 1: do love to talk about some college football. And you
- 3:22Speaker 1: know what has evolved since we've started doing the Scott
- 3:24Speaker 1: is how funny things have changed. I remember a couple
- 3:27Speaker 1: of years into this, remember that was the summer of
- 3:30Speaker 1: Nevin Shapiro. Yeah, those of you that are too young
- 3:33Speaker 1: to remember, he is actually in prison for running a
- 3:36Speaker 1: Ponzi scheme for paying Miami players that nowadays he probably
- 3:40Speaker 1: wouldn't even be in jail and he would be thanked
- 3:42Speaker 1: for being there for Miami players to getting them paid.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Well, I think the Ponzi scheme because what got him
- 3:47Speaker 3: in prison, but the cheese he was given away was
- 3:50Speaker 3: to be a front runner. It was great, No, that
- 3:52Speaker 3: wouldn't get him in trouble. That Ponzi scheme's probably still
- 3:55Speaker 3: frowned upon.
- 3:56Speaker 1: But yeah, you got that going on. And then we
- 3:58Speaker 1: used to laugh every summer of how many players that
- 4:01Speaker 1: would play for the University of Georgia that would get
- 4:03Speaker 1: arrested in the offseason, because that was before college football
- 4:06Speaker 1: teams almost mandated that you lived on campus year round
- 4:10Speaker 1: except for a couple of breaks to keep you out
- 4:13Speaker 1: of trouble. And so you'd have these kids that would
- 4:15Speaker 1: go home for the summer or whatever it may be.
- 4:17Speaker 1: People would get arrested, all kinds of good stuff would happen.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But now Scott Knucklehead season is not what it used
- 4:23Speaker 1: to be. It's really everything but the players. I mean,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you've got to figure out where the hell somebody is
- 4:29Speaker 1: before you can figure out a screw up. You've got
- 4:32Speaker 1: boosters that you know their names of Cody Campbell, who
- 4:36Speaker 1: more people know his name than probably anybody on Texas
- 4:39Speaker 1: Tech roster. You've got that going on. You've got players
- 4:42Speaker 1: moving every year, You've got rules changing. There's a kid
- 4:45Speaker 1: at Texas right now that has a lawsuit going that
- 4:48Speaker 1: played guard last year. Actually met him last year when
- 4:51Speaker 1: I was at the Tech game, and he's suing. So
- 4:53Speaker 1: he has one more year of eligibility so he can
- 4:55Speaker 1: come back. Just saw where those there's two players that
- 4:58Speaker 1: played basketball for Texas take a couple of years ago
- 5:01Speaker 1: that sued and got an injunction. They're coming back to
- 5:03Speaker 1: Tech so that they can play again after transferring away
- 5:07Speaker 1: and coming back.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Uh.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And then obviously you've got the Brandon Sowersby saga that
- 5:11Speaker 1: went on all summer. You've got Bill Belichick just thought
- 5:14Speaker 1: maybe that was gonna get normal. Now you've got Mike
- 5:18Speaker 1: Lombardi on paid leave bath since and that team looks
- 5:21Speaker 1: like they're one hundred and twenty to one to win
- 5:23Speaker 1: the ACC. The one hundred and twenty to one to
- 5:27Speaker 1: win the ACC that is fucking terrible, is what they.
- 5:31Speaker 2: So terrible?
- 5:32Speaker 3: Well, look, you got Tony Petiti in the news. You've
- 5:35Speaker 3: got Mike Slive was never in the news. It's never
- 5:39Speaker 3: you know, you got conference commissioners that are that are
- 5:42Speaker 3: in the headline, which is something, it's something Ishrae. Well,
- 5:44Speaker 3: listen to a Tony Petiti interview today and I've said
- 5:47Speaker 3: all along the reason he's after And several people have
- 5:52Speaker 3: commented to me privately that listened to they saw my
- 5:56Speaker 3: interaction with Tim Brando on Twitter. The other day, and
- 6:02Speaker 3: it is an NFL model, and listening to Tony Pettiti today,
- 6:06Speaker 3: it's one hundred percent of NFL model. But the reason
- 6:09Speaker 3: he's wanting to do it is, yes, to raise more
- 6:11Speaker 3: money and expand the teams. But Tony Pettiti is wanting
- 6:15Speaker 3: to expand because these schools and these coaches know they're
- 6:21Speaker 3: gonna get fired if they don't make the playoffs. Like
- 6:24Speaker 3: there's never gonna be a run like you've seen at
- 6:28Speaker 3: Iowa where they've been really good and really solid and
- 6:33Speaker 3: they put out some great teams, but it's been gaps
- 6:36Speaker 3: between those teams. That guy's never gonna happen. That's because
- 6:41Speaker 3: the fan bases just aren't gonna put up with it.
- 6:44Speaker 3: They're not gonna handle Oh you went ten to two
- 6:46Speaker 3: and then drop back to six and six or seven
- 6:48Speaker 3: and five, you're fired. He's trying to get more teams
- 6:51Speaker 3: in the playoff so they can stop firing as many coaches.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That's what this is all about. They want to get
- 6:58Speaker 3: to twenty four teams because this is the same reason
- 7:00Speaker 3: in the NCAA. Everybody's oh, it's more money. Oh, you're
- 7:03Speaker 3: gonna get more compelling games. Every person you had to
- 7:05Speaker 3: the playoff makes it regular season less important. The SECIX
- 7:10Speaker 3: championship meant nothing for either one of those teams.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Nothing.
- 7:13Speaker 3: It meant nothing for Ohio State and Indiana, none of them.
- 7:17Speaker 3: So let's just do away with those games. If we're
- 7:20Speaker 3: really talking that we want to expand, let's make let's
- 7:23Speaker 3: make sure the actual regular season means something, where a
- 7:28Speaker 3: loss means something. The only time it meant the only
- 7:30Speaker 3: game it meant to anybody was Notre Dame first first
- 7:34Speaker 3: week of the season. That's the only game of our
- 7:36Speaker 3: second week, whatever, the week they played Miami.
- 7:39Speaker 2: That's it.
- 7:39Speaker 3: That's the only game it really had bearing on the playoff.
- 7:43Speaker 3: That were two teams eliminated each other, and we had
- 7:47Speaker 3: way too many teams playing for that to be the case.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And the reason they want to keep expanding it is, yes,
- 7:53Speaker 3: they want more dollars in the pool, but it's because
- 7:56Speaker 3: they're spending so many, so much money on coaches, and
- 8:00Speaker 3: these ads can't help but being dumb ass. And I
- 8:03Speaker 3: think I've said this multiple times, I like Greg Burn.
- 8:07Speaker 2: He just extended Kaitlin de Boor. It's fifty to fifty.
- 8:11Speaker 2: He's firing his ass this December.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yes, I agree, he loses four.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Games this year, and I guarantee you they got a fire.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Oh man.
- 8:19Speaker 3: So, but the conference commissioners are trying to bail out
- 8:23Speaker 3: their dumb ass ads by expanding the playoffs.
- 8:26Speaker 2: That is what this is really about.
- 8:28Speaker 3: They can say all the other smoke field coffee house
- 8:30Speaker 3: crap they want to say. The truth is they're trying
- 8:33Speaker 3: to expand this playoff because they want to have less
- 8:37Speaker 3: coaches fired and give more coaches a chance.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Oh, we missed the playoff by one game.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Oh we were right there. So they don't have to
- 8:43Speaker 3: fire this They don't have to fire this guy, you know.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And I got one other thing. Any everybody saying Lane
- 8:49Speaker 3: Kiffin must make the playoff, Man, I don't know about that.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I mean, I look at this roster. I think it's
- 8:57Speaker 2: a good roster. I don't think it's a great roster.
- 8:58Speaker 3: I look at that schedule, and man, I find lights
- 9:01Speaker 3: of ways for these dudes not to make the playoffs.
- 9:03Speaker 3: And it ain't a big stretch. And it starts September
- 9:06Speaker 3: nineteenth in Oxford. Because they lose that game, they still
- 9:09Speaker 3: got the Longhorns. You know, there's a lot there's a
- 9:12Speaker 3: lot of stuff on that schedule for them to unpack.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So anyway, this is gonna be a great season. It's
- 9:17Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of fun. I think Texas Tech
- 9:19Speaker 3: is gonna be great. There's a couple of teams I'm
- 9:21Speaker 3: fascinated to get into as we do these conference breakdowns.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I can't like Oklahoma State. You talk about a fascinating team,
- 9:30Speaker 3: bringing in basically North Texas.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Can they get Bowl eligible? Can they get over that
- 9:36Speaker 2: five and a half?
- 9:36Speaker 3: You think, oh man five and a half wins, they
- 9:39Speaker 3: ought to be able to do that. And then you
- 9:40Speaker 3: start looking at that schedule by fives where he stopped
- 9:43Speaker 3: because they got the Oregon Ducks week three. I mean
- 9:46Speaker 3: they're gonna get pounded in that game at home. So
- 9:48Speaker 3: I mean it's you know, there's some fascinating storylines. I
- 9:51Speaker 3: aink Tech is gonna be really good, even with their
- 9:54Speaker 3: freshman quarterback, you know, and he's not gonna be helped
- 9:58Speaker 3: the early I still think they're gonna be really, really good.
- 10:00Speaker 2: B Why you's got.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Some good things going on, But can they can they
- 10:03Speaker 3: capture the magic that they had last year? You know
- 10:06Speaker 3: who's gonna be the Power five team? Ain't boys. He's
- 10:08Speaker 3: gonna be really good. I don't think it's gonna be
- 10:11Speaker 3: too lame.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Now.
- 10:12Speaker 3: We saw Will Hall fell epically at Southern Miss and
- 10:15Speaker 3: I was excited about that. His dad was a legendary
- 10:17Speaker 3: high school coach. And it's just because he was a
- 10:19Speaker 3: successful aid offensive coordinator under a great football coach doesn't
- 10:24Speaker 3: mean he's gonna be able to continue that run. They
- 10:26Speaker 3: Fritz and some are all two great football coaches down there,
- 10:30Speaker 3: and is he able to continue that?
- 10:32Speaker 2: I don't I don't know. I just don't see it.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I think the Miami's gonna be great talking about the
- 10:36Speaker 3: acc ain't care gonna be good again. Mensa is gonna
- 10:39Speaker 3: be fascinating to watch there. You know, what what does
- 10:41Speaker 3: Duke do?
- 10:43Speaker 2: You know?
- 10:43Speaker 3: With everything they lost, you know, it's what is what
- 10:46Speaker 3: does Pat Fitz do?
- 10:48Speaker 2: Which the most exciting hire to me? Love that hire.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But man, you're talking about you. They're gonna they're gonna
- 10:55Speaker 3: struggle this year because that program was a mess, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 3: and he's just kind of getting back and and going.
- 11:00Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you something.
- 11:02Speaker 2: He's got it.
- 11:02Speaker 3: You listen to his philosophy at Big ten Media Days,
- 11:05Speaker 3: he was outstanding. He's a really likable guy. I think
- 11:08Speaker 3: that's gonna translate. And much like Indiana, Michigan State's got money,
- 11:13Speaker 3: they got a lot, they got some billionaire alumni. Do
- 11:16Speaker 3: they get those guys motivating? Giving the way Indiana's big
- 11:19Speaker 3: boosters have done, how long does it take fits to
- 11:22Speaker 3: get to still fixed? So, man, there's some great storylines
- 11:25Speaker 3: out there. I ain't even talked about Texas and cam Coleman.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I ain't even talked about Oregon. Who might you know
- 11:32Speaker 3: known for all this offense in the Great Jerseys? Find
- 11:35Speaker 3: me four a better starting defensive linemen, then they're gonna
- 11:37Speaker 3: try it out on the field in eugeneus Fall. I
- 11:40Speaker 3: mean it's gonna be fun.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, the rumor I heard that the defensive line at
- 11:44Speaker 1: Oregon this year is an eight million dollar project.
- 11:47Speaker 2: And what they do, I believe if.
- 11:48Speaker 1: You look around the country, there's four, four or five
- 11:52Speaker 1: starters when I was going through depth charts that came
- 11:54Speaker 1: off of that Michigan team that are starting in Power
- 11:57Speaker 1: five programs, I mean big programs. And so I mean
- 12:00Speaker 1: bar Alexander, I'm just gonna point him out. Most people
- 12:02Speaker 1: don't know who the hell he is. That guy's been
- 12:05Speaker 1: everywhere and underperformed and he finally got to Oregon and
- 12:08Speaker 1: he's gonna end up getting paid in the NFL. Now,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I mean, he's learned how to play on the inside.
- 12:12Speaker 1: He's got some toughness going.
- 12:14Speaker 3: You got onto a Layla's brother on at the defensive end.
- 12:17Speaker 3: I mean it, dude, there, I'm telling you, they're gonna
- 12:19Speaker 3: be a fun football team to watch. But you look
- 12:21Speaker 3: at like top draft eligible players. Man, they don't have
- 12:24Speaker 3: a drift, they don't have a running back listed, they
- 12:26Speaker 3: don't have a wide receiver listed. Everybody's so used to
- 12:29Speaker 3: those guys just been electric. I still think they're gonna
- 12:31Speaker 3: be great on offense because he's got great young talent.
- 12:33Speaker 3: But that defensive line and he plays, man, it travels
- 12:38Speaker 3: and it plays. And you look in this era of
- 12:42Speaker 3: what we're getting to, and the defenses are what are
- 12:45Speaker 3: winning football games. In this era, that is what is
- 12:48Speaker 3: winning football games.
- 12:49Speaker 2: You look at.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Texas and Ohio State early in the year last year.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Look look at that ball What won that ball game
- 12:54Speaker 3: for Ohio State certainly won the offense, defense, defense, They
- 12:58Speaker 3: dominated them. That Texas just couldn't do anything. And so
- 13:01Speaker 3: defenses matter. They're traveling. I guess what one Indiana the
- 13:04Speaker 3: national title. As good as they were on offensive, great
- 13:06Speaker 3: on defense, and so I think it is a tremendous,
- 13:10Speaker 3: tremendous year, gonna be fun to watch by Jesney at U.
- 13:14Speaker 2: C l Anna, I think I think they're gonna be
- 13:17Speaker 2: really good. I think they're gonna be really good.
- 13:19Speaker 3: And so it's a and and the odd of the
- 13:22Speaker 3: is as bad of a situation as that kid got
- 13:25Speaker 3: himself in when he left Tennessee trying to get more money.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Guy has a kid landed in Clover, I mean total
- 13:32Speaker 3: total Clover because Chesney's a great football coach, and so
- 13:36Speaker 3: you know, he's brought with him a kid ran for
- 13:38Speaker 3: what fourteen hundred yards or something last year, the running
- 13:41Speaker 3: back he brought with him.
- 13:41Speaker 2: So I mean it's a you know, he's got lots.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I think there's some just some really really cool exciting storylines.
- 13:49Speaker 3: What some are all do at Florida? What's DJ Onla?
- 13:53Speaker 3: I mean, TJ Lagway do it at Baylor. I mean
- 13:57Speaker 3: it's gonna be I mean it's gonna be fascinating.
- 14:00Speaker 1: So Sunbelt Billy, sun Belt Billy.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Sun Belt Billy's back belongs in the Sunbelts.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Let's not go a couple more things I'll point out
- 14:10Speaker 1: real quick, and they were actually going to try to
- 14:11Speaker 1: give you some some actionable plays that we can get
- 14:14Speaker 1: down here. First off, a couple of things you need
- 14:16Speaker 1: to realize. PAC twelve is back of Oregon State and
- 14:20Speaker 1: Washington State carried the flag, and it is now a
- 14:24Speaker 1: conference that every team in the conference ends in state.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I don't know if you've know that it or not,
- 14:29Speaker 1: but every team in there ends in state. They're also
- 14:32Speaker 1: doing something and so they'll be out there North Dakota State,
- 14:36Speaker 1: who the Bison have the Kibbi Dome that they've got
- 14:40Speaker 1: up there in Fargo. Of course, it's an indoor stateium.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Never watched. It looks like you're playing football inside of
- 14:44Speaker 1: an aircraft hanger basically, but it's the It'll be interesting
- 14:49Speaker 1: to see can they transition, because that's a program that's
- 14:52Speaker 1: historically been really good at the FCS level, but they
- 14:54Speaker 1: took a little bit of a step back the last
- 14:56Speaker 1: couple of years. And you're gonna figure and you've got
- 14:58Speaker 1: a rose to f don't have as many scholarships as
- 15:02Speaker 1: FBS programs, especially now with all the shifting that's been
- 15:05Speaker 1: going on, and so I'll be interesting to see if
- 15:07Speaker 1: their ground and pound style that they have been able
- 15:10Speaker 1: to manhandle folks at that level can transition up. I
- 15:13Speaker 1: don't think it's going too Personally, I think they're gonna
- 15:16Speaker 1: really run thin as the season goes on. You've got
- 15:18Speaker 1: the Mountain West that.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Northern Illinois has, Northern Illinois.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Greatest ship balls.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I mean, what are they doing? But anyway, Sack.
- 15:28Speaker 1: State took their place in the MAC. Imagine being a
- 15:32Speaker 1: kid from Central California playing at sack State who is
- 15:35Speaker 1: a not a good FCS program, and now you've got
- 15:39Speaker 1: a Tuesday night game in Toledo in November. It's gonna
- 15:42Speaker 1: be so cold for those guys.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Oh but how fascinating is it gonna be? I mean,
- 15:48Speaker 3: you can't. You just gotta love. You're gonna love watching
- 15:51Speaker 3: this stuff because look Sack State through it all around,
- 15:55Speaker 3: you know, through it all around the yard. I think
- 15:57Speaker 3: they're gonna Obviously, I think everybody's got a picked you know,
- 16:00Speaker 3: picked last in that league. But man, talking about look
- 16:03Speaker 3: at this, look at this schedule, because this is something
- 16:06Speaker 3: I was looking at at Eastern Michigan August twenty ninth.
- 16:10Speaker 3: That's how they rolled them out in that But look,
- 16:13Speaker 3: you talked about it.
- 16:14Speaker 2: They rolled.
- 16:15Speaker 3: They go into Toledo day before they get those guys
- 16:20Speaker 3: at home on a Wednesday. Then they're at Central Michigan
- 16:23Speaker 3: the following Wednesday. Then they get an off week and
- 16:26Speaker 3: they got to go to Hawaii. I mean their October
- 16:29Speaker 3: stretch is at Bowling Green, home to Ohio, at Ball State,
- 16:35Speaker 3: Kent State, Toledo, and at Central Michigan.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That rolls them through November eleventh.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I mean, those guys, some of these schools look into
- 16:43Speaker 3: September they play U Mass I don't there were some
- 16:46Speaker 3: of these schools. I guarantee you have the kids on
- 16:48Speaker 3: Sacramento have no idea where they are, couldn't find them
- 16:52Speaker 3: on a map. Where's Athens, Ohio. They wouldn't have any
- 16:55Speaker 3: of them idea. You need to hand them a magnifying glass.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So you gotta lot of weird conference alignments. The other
- 17:01Speaker 1: weird thing I will put in if you want of
- 17:03Speaker 1: those that likes to play conference over under win totals
- 17:06Speaker 1: and you are going to be betting anything in the
- 17:08Speaker 1: Mountain West, pay attention to the book to determine how
- 17:12Speaker 1: they're going to grade your ticket. Because the Mountain West
- 17:15Speaker 1: has eleven game schedule. The twelfth game on their schedule
- 17:18Speaker 1: is Semantics. Those games are going to change at the
- 17:21Speaker 1: end of the season based on everything else, so that
- 17:24Speaker 1: they can try to align their team's best at the end.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I'm not against trying unique things, so let's give it
- 17:30Speaker 1: a shot and see if it works. But you've got
- 17:33Speaker 1: some teams again. Boise State now is in the Pac twelve.
- 17:36Speaker 1: They have dominated the Mountain West, and then in the
- 17:39Speaker 1: Mountain West you've got upstart New Mexico, who I think
- 17:43Speaker 1: is going to be really good at them.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Them and UNLV are two best teams in this league.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I'll almost guarantee it.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Well, and I agree with you, but I can't wait
- 17:52Speaker 1: to see UNLV Week one when they play Memphis. You've
- 17:55Speaker 1: got coach and because look, Memphis loses a coach, but
- 17:58Speaker 1: they got maybe a better coach that came in and
- 18:01Speaker 1: took over, brought some players in. It's gonna be interesting.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They travel out to the desert and the two quarterbacks
- 18:07Speaker 1: you've got playing at UNLV this year, Jackson Arnold, who
- 18:10Speaker 1: does not throw the ball. He just sits and pats
- 18:12Speaker 1: it and pats it and pats it and pats it
- 18:14Speaker 1: and either gets his ass sacked or he tries to run,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and then if you can't, if you don't have him,
- 18:19Speaker 1: you roll up my main man, Alex Orgie, who will
- 18:22Speaker 1: be at the backup quarterback at Michigan that you know
- 18:25Speaker 1: can't throw the ball, couldn't throw it in high school,
- 18:27Speaker 1: and he's the quarterback a U and LV.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Now, look, Dan Mullen is a quarterback whisperer, and I
- 18:33Speaker 3: mean that he is a phenomenal quarterback coach. I am
- 18:36Speaker 3: stunned that some NFL teams have not hired him just
- 18:40Speaker 3: to coach quarterbacks, because I do think he's really, really good.
- 18:45Speaker 3: His ego may be too big to work for somebody,
- 18:48Speaker 3: but Dan's talented when it comes to coaching quarterbacks and
- 18:51Speaker 3: his ability to spot talent. I'll tell you this, I
- 18:56Speaker 3: Jackson Arnold can't be able to throw the ball less
- 19:00Speaker 3: than Nicky Fitzgerald could. And Dan Mullen scored away to
- 19:04Speaker 3: figured it out a way to score almost forty on
- 19:06Speaker 3: LSU with that guy, and he had like a seventy
- 19:08Speaker 3: five yard touchdown passing that game.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Dan's a really good coach.
- 19:12Speaker 3: He's gonna figure out which one of those guys gives
- 19:14Speaker 3: him the best ability or she could run the football
- 19:16Speaker 3: and was physical, and I'm gonna be stunned if both
- 19:21Speaker 3: these guys don't play some But I think, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 3: if if Arnold has remotely the ability that everybody's always
- 19:29Speaker 3: says he did, I can't figure out how in the
- 19:31Speaker 3: world that guy was as highly rated as he was.
- 19:33Speaker 3: But I think he's also just been ruined by some
- 19:35Speaker 3: poor coaching. Can Dan fix him? That's a fascinating watch
- 19:40Speaker 3: to me. I think it's gonna be great, But I
- 19:42Speaker 3: think Dani, I think he'll still be able to score
- 19:44Speaker 3: some points, especially in that league, because he'll do some
- 19:46Speaker 3: things schematically that'll put them put him in a good position.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Like I said, I've watched him with kids that couldn't
- 19:52Speaker 3: throw the football, I mean, help Chris Ralph. That guy
- 19:54Speaker 3: won nine games on fifty on Michigan in a ball
- 19:57Speaker 3: game with Chris Ralph at Mississippi State. For those of
- 19:59Speaker 3: you know who Chris Relph is, he was incapable of
- 20:02Speaker 3: the forward pass. I mean it is. It is truly unbelievable.
- 20:06Speaker 3: He had some guys that probably might could have played
- 20:08Speaker 3: in the NFL if you could throw the football at all,
- 20:10Speaker 3: I mean at all.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I'll give you I'll give you one. There's a couple more.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'll give you one more. Malachi Nelson, Okay, can you
- 20:20Speaker 1: if I will, I will give you one hundred dollars
- 20:24Speaker 1: if you can, and then I will put one hundred
- 20:26Speaker 1: dollars into your account and I will put the bet
- 20:29Speaker 1: down on whatever bet you want. If you can tell
- 20:31Speaker 1: me where he's going to school, and then I will
- 20:35Speaker 1: double down if you could tell me where he has
- 20:38Speaker 1: been at school, because I bet you didn't know he
- 20:40Speaker 1: was still in.
- 20:41Speaker 3: College, did not know that he was that he was
- 20:45Speaker 3: still in college. I think that he's at Syracuse.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I think because he started at SC right and that
- 20:56Speaker 2: where he started was sc.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Number two quarterback in the country coming out of high school.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Started it as CE. And the only reason.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I know is at Syracuse is because I was actually
- 21:05Speaker 3: reading about them about three days ago and I'm like,
- 21:08Speaker 3: I know he was the guy that was there. I
- 21:10Speaker 3: can't remember where else as he.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Went to Boise State, I was gonna say was the
- 21:16Speaker 1: U n l V.
- 21:17Speaker 2: But it was And then.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He did go to a four letters school with started
- 21:23Speaker 1: with the U. He was at UTEP and he transferred
- 21:26Speaker 1: from UTEP to finish up his college career at the Q.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Oh, that is fabulous.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Number two guy in the country has wandered and oblivion
- 21:35Speaker 3: at two straight stops, isn't that? While this is the
- 21:38Speaker 3: transfer portal, you know, this is the transfer portal in
- 21:42Speaker 3: a nutshell right here.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So I'll give you one more I'll get Do you
- 21:48Speaker 1: know who the starting court unless you've done your unless
- 21:50Speaker 1: you've read the Sunbelt yet.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I'm not done with the sun Belt yet.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Do you know who the starting quarterback is at Georgia Southern?
- 21:59Speaker 3: Oh?
- 21:59Speaker 2: No, no, I don't, but I should because I have
- 22:03Speaker 2: seen this. Who is it?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Max Johnson?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Did I read that? I read that the other day.
- 22:10Speaker 3: That's right, Max Johnson's a like year nine of college football.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I thought we were done with like nineteen with nineteen
- 22:16Speaker 3: year players. I mean, he's got to be twenty six.
- 22:20Speaker 1: I think I think he actually played with his father.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He's getting close now.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I think his brother that was a tight end. That
- 22:28Speaker 3: was younger's already out of eligibility.
- 22:30Speaker 1: You think he may be Yeah? This is He played
- 22:32Speaker 1: two years at A and M, two years at LSU,
- 22:35Speaker 1: two years North Carolina and will wrap up this season
- 22:39Speaker 1: for the year seventy for the Fighting Clay Helton's in
- 22:42Speaker 1: year seven at Georgia Southern.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Love it, I love it.
- 22:46Speaker 3: Clay Hilton has done a pretty good job at has
- 22:50Speaker 3: done a pretty good job at Georgia Southern.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he's better. He's done much better there than I
- 22:56Speaker 1: I don't. I've always liked Clay Hilton personally.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, me too.
- 23:00Speaker 1: His son's the backup quarterback actually on that team now,
- 23:03Speaker 1: So yes, that's actually.
- 23:06Speaker 3: See well, speaking of, it's gonna be a lot of
- 23:08Speaker 3: fun to get into. I have not gotten into the
- 23:10Speaker 3: belt yet, but it is gonna it is gonna be.
- 23:13Speaker 3: It is gonna be fun to get into. There's just
- 23:15Speaker 3: so many great storylines that this is a chaotic year.
- 23:20Speaker 3: I think we may see some crazy stuff. I mean,
- 23:23Speaker 3: I think the big ten I will tell you, like
- 23:27Speaker 3: I believe Ohio State last year was dom.
- 23:30Speaker 2: They beat teams with great defense.
- 23:32Speaker 3: I think that offense is gonna be equally as good
- 23:36Speaker 3: Man Chris Henry. If that guy's not as talented as
- 23:40Speaker 3: Jeremiah Smith, he's pretty damn close. I mean a dog.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I mean, that guy's a freak. As theoid been raised
- 23:46Speaker 3: by pac Man Jones for the most part, that's who's
- 23:48Speaker 3: been working with him because you know pac Man and
- 23:51Speaker 3: Chris Chris Henry's dad, We're best friends on the Bengals.
- 23:54Speaker 3: He dies and you know, starts raising the kids. Been
- 23:57Speaker 3: getting up working out with him five o'clock in the morning.
- 24:00Speaker 3: For listeners that if you have not read the story
- 24:02Speaker 3: of how pac Man Jones just basically turned his own
- 24:05Speaker 3: life around because his friend died to help raise his sun.
- 24:09Speaker 3: It's a great story. You should definitely dig into it.
- 24:12Speaker 3: It is highly worth the time. But man, that offense
- 24:15Speaker 3: Julian's saying is extremely accurate. You give him those two guys. Now,
- 24:20Speaker 3: one thing I'm not a huge fan of. But remember
- 24:22Speaker 3: they brought in an NFL guy and I'm like, oh,
- 24:24Speaker 3: this is gonna be a disaster, and it worked great.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Here comes Arthur Smith in offensive at the offensive coordinator spot.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Thank god hit the road, brother, I'm glad to have
- 24:33Speaker 3: you out of Pittsburgh. But look, do they start throwing
- 24:37Speaker 3: to the tight end because they got those dudes in
- 24:39Speaker 3: Ohio state falling off of trees. They only throw to them,
- 24:41Speaker 3: and they've had what they have two or three drafted
- 24:44Speaker 3: last year. I mean, Arthur Smith's gonna use them. What's
- 24:47Speaker 3: that do for those wide outs? And of course you
- 24:49Speaker 3: go be able to run the football. They got four
- 24:50Speaker 3: out of five offensive lineman back. Ohio State's gonna be
- 24:53Speaker 3: damn good. I've seen teams picking them third. Yeah, they
- 24:56Speaker 3: may finish third in the Big Ten. They're asked me
- 24:58Speaker 3: one at all. They're good because they do go to Indiana.
- 25:02Speaker 3: You know it's you know, so it's a game they
- 25:04Speaker 3: can lose. But man, this I'm telling you, there's gonna
- 25:06Speaker 3: be some good stories. I think Texas and Georgia are
- 25:08Speaker 3: both gonna be really, really good. I will tell you,
- 25:11Speaker 3: and mix in Notre Dame. That's the six best teams
- 25:14Speaker 3: in the country.
- 25:16Speaker 1: If Sart doesn't make the playoffs.
- 25:18Speaker 2: This year, you need to move on.
- 25:19Speaker 1: It's gonna nine.
- 25:22Speaker 3: And three he doesn't make the playoff and and man,
- 25:26Speaker 3: I think we may be a it's gonna say he
- 25:30Speaker 3: can't get it done to me. I mean, because it's
- 25:32Speaker 3: not like this guy's a young, first time head coach.
- 25:34Speaker 3: He's been the head coach at USC and Washington before this.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Those are big time jobs. You should have learned from
- 25:42Speaker 3: the epic mistake you made out there and be ready
- 25:45Speaker 3: to roll. It's either time to pee or get off
- 25:48Speaker 3: the pot on this deal in Austin. I mean it's
- 25:50Speaker 3: time to take the step and man, look, let's roll
- 25:53Speaker 3: another hour and a half down the road.
- 25:55Speaker 2: What can Marcel Reid do?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Because I think that team's gonna I think that defense
- 25:59Speaker 3: is gonna be good. I think they've got talent, but
- 26:01Speaker 3: they're gonna go as Marcel Reid goes. He couldn't complete
- 26:04Speaker 3: a pass against Miami. They were significantly more talented than Miami.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Last year, Read was awful at home, So I mean,
- 26:11Speaker 3: what's he do? So there's some great I'm telling you,
- 26:14Speaker 3: Mark great storylines. I have to say I hate the portal.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Everybody knows that, no reason to lament it. I wish
- 26:22Speaker 3: we would just limit how much guys could play. Got
- 26:24Speaker 3: no problem with guys getting paid. Do I think the
- 26:26Speaker 3: money's out of control one hundred percent. But more power
- 26:29Speaker 3: to you, brother.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Uh.
- 26:30Speaker 3: If somebody's dumb ass enough to give you five million,
- 26:32Speaker 3: take the five million in run, you know it is.
- 26:35Speaker 2: What it is. I think it's dumb.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I think we're setting kids up for a life of failure.
- 26:39Speaker 3: But hey, man, that's that's I'm not there. I'm not there, dad,
- 26:43Speaker 3: You know, So that if people can go on sooner
- 26:45Speaker 3: or later. They got to They gotta learn how to
- 26:47Speaker 3: handle success at some point. If somebody wants to give
- 26:49Speaker 3: you the money, take it. But I think we got
- 26:52Speaker 3: to do something about this transfer portal where we're talking
- 26:54Speaker 3: guys playing four schools four years and things like that.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And hopefully this college deal passes because it does have
- 27:00Speaker 3: some restrictions on that.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Uh it had.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And also another thing, the Lane Kiffin rule is in
- 27:05Speaker 3: this deal no leaving mid season. Boy at the college
- 27:08Speaker 3: football season also says got to finish. I think it
- 27:11Speaker 3: was January eighth, January eighth or ninth, man, that's early.
- 27:15Speaker 3: They leave open the Nevada I mean the uh, the
- 27:18Speaker 3: Army Navy weekend. So I mean, dude, you're gonna be
- 27:21Speaker 3: talking about the playoffs starting first week of December if
- 27:23Speaker 3: they're gonna get them done.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I said, I think this. I think the
- 27:28Speaker 1: game is still evolving. It's like I said that, But
- 27:32Speaker 1: it's really hard for me because I used to dig
- 27:34Speaker 1: in like I mean, I.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Took Fosters memorized me too.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I have had to completely change how I try to
- 27:40Speaker 1: get ready for college football season now, and it's to
- 27:44Speaker 1: the point where you.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I don't even learn names anymore. I learned talent on field.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm trying to study who's putting the most talent on
- 27:51Speaker 3: the field. How does that measure up against the other guy?
- 27:54Speaker 3: What's that do for the point spreads? Where are we
- 27:57Speaker 3: gonna make money? It's a much more statistical game where
- 28:00Speaker 3: I used to feel like like you, I knew, especially
- 28:02Speaker 3: early in the season. Man, this roster's really good, and
- 28:06Speaker 3: this team's going on the road and nobody knows who
- 28:08Speaker 3: the hell they are and they got a chance to win.
- 28:10Speaker 3: It's early. You can't do that anymore. I mean, it's
- 28:13Speaker 3: those games don't happen. It's like, the best teams are
- 28:15Speaker 3: the best teams, and you know, unless you've just done
- 28:17Speaker 3: a poor job figuring out their transfer portal class and
- 28:22Speaker 3: we're getting more information on the portal and that's easier
- 28:24Speaker 3: to find and things like that.
- 28:26Speaker 2: You're right, it's totally different how you evaluate.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So I have I'm gonna we're gonna keep this one
- 28:32Speaker 1: short because we're gonna come back with some detailed We're
- 28:34Speaker 1: gonna come back with some long cast because I mean,
- 28:36Speaker 1: you've got eighteen teams in the in the Big ten,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and I mean it's good, I mean good, Yeah, I've
- 28:42Speaker 1: got three tickets in pocket to start the season that
- 28:44Speaker 1: I would recommend taking a look at if you like, season,
- 28:47Speaker 1: if you like. But in the futures, we did real
- 28:49Speaker 1: well with futures last year. I went back and look
- 28:51Speaker 1: scot we picked were we were eighty percent of the
- 28:54Speaker 1: teams that we picked to get into the playoff got
- 28:57Speaker 1: into the tournament. So it created some great hedge positions.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Obviously we had a great future there on Miami that
- 29:03Speaker 1: we swept up right there at the end. And that's
- 29:05Speaker 1: all good stuff. And we are here to share and
- 29:07Speaker 1: to make money. I listened to a podcast the other day.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I like their content. I won't go on who it is,
- 29:12Speaker 1: but the guys always talking about the you know, I
- 29:14Speaker 1: got two I got I got two nuggets on in nugget,
- 29:19Speaker 1: you know, telling you how big he's betting on these things.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I'm like, bro, be serious, You're not dropping that much
- 29:24Speaker 1: money on this stuff. You in media, you don't even
- 29:26Speaker 1: know what the fuck you're talking about. But anyway, here's
- 29:28Speaker 1: my point. A couple of plays. I like number one
- 29:30Speaker 1: Texas Tech. You can still get it even money at
- 29:33Speaker 1: most casinos and most books to win the Big twelve.
- 29:37Speaker 1: The reason I like that play is because they're double
- 29:40Speaker 1: digit favorites in every single game that they play this year.
- 29:43Speaker 1: They've probably got the easiest schedule in the Big Twelve.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Their biggest games they're gonna have to get over is
- 29:49Speaker 1: Week three they host Houston. I think the Houston team
- 29:53Speaker 1: will be improved. I do like Connor Wegman, I love
- 29:55Speaker 1: Willie Fritz, but I think the rest of the Big
- 29:58Speaker 1: twelve conference is actually a a little bit. It's better
- 30:00Speaker 1: than it was last year. But I think Texas Tech
- 30:03Speaker 1: could win that conference with one loss, maybe even two
- 30:07Speaker 1: and get themselves in. Their defense is going to be
- 30:09Speaker 1: just as good, if not better than it was last year.
- 30:11Speaker 1: You'll learn all these kids' names as you get rolling.
- 30:14Speaker 1: They've got a really deep running back room, and they've
- 30:17Speaker 1: got an NFL tight end, and so I like this team.
- 30:20Speaker 1: You can get them at even money. It sets up
- 30:23Speaker 1: for a great hedge position because even if they make
- 30:25Speaker 1: the championship game, you're gonna get whoever they're playing, probably
- 30:28Speaker 1: at like a plus three sixty because they're going to
- 30:31Speaker 1: be seven or eight point dogs, and so you can
- 30:33Speaker 1: easily set up a hedge where you can eat back
- 30:36Speaker 1: that unit and still make a profit on that, So
- 30:38Speaker 1: that would be play number one for me. Play number
- 30:41Speaker 1: two that I've got in pocket, give me the Notre
- 30:44Speaker 1: Dame fighting Irish to win the national championship. Here's my logic.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You can get them at some books. As high as
- 30:51Speaker 1: eight to one is what I've seen, but six six
- 30:53Speaker 1: and a half of the one is kind of what
- 30:54Speaker 1: you're starting to see more across the board. Notre Dame
- 30:57Speaker 1: schedule is not what it normally. They avoid. They don't
- 31:01Speaker 1: have USC on their schedule. They wiped out a couple
- 31:04Speaker 1: of other games that are their big rivals. The ACC
- 31:07Speaker 1: is not great and they don't catch the most difficult
- 31:09Speaker 1: parts of it. They've got the BYU game where they
- 31:12Speaker 1: have to go out to that. They go out to
- 31:14Speaker 1: Utah to play in that one. It'll be the biggest
- 31:17Speaker 1: game that's played in Provo in forever as far as
- 31:20Speaker 1: I can remember. But this Notre Dame team is good
- 31:23Speaker 1: on paper. They've got a deep roster. I like the
- 31:26Speaker 1: fact that they've got a quarterback that's coming back after
- 31:28Speaker 1: getting all that time from last year, and Miami comes
- 31:31Speaker 1: up to Notre Dame this year, and so any other
- 31:34Speaker 1: thing too go back and look, they've changed how you
- 31:37Speaker 1: get into the playoffs. They have set this thing up
- 31:39Speaker 1: for Notre Dame to get in. I mean, the playoffs
- 31:43Speaker 1: structure is built to allow Notre Dame a pathway to
- 31:46Speaker 1: get in so as to possibly avoid what happened to
- 31:49Speaker 1: him last year. They want that brand. This is a
- 31:52Speaker 1: made for entertainment event. Let's never forget this. They want
- 31:55Speaker 1: Notre Dame to be in there so you can get
- 31:57Speaker 1: them at six to one. Reason I bring that up,
- 31:59Speaker 1: They'll be in every game they play all season. If
- 32:02Speaker 1: they do make it into the tournament, they're either gonna
- 32:04Speaker 1: have a host, They're either gonna be home that first week,
- 32:07Speaker 1: or they're gonna get a bye. And so even if
- 32:09Speaker 1: you were to play a three game rolling money line
- 32:11Speaker 1: parlay on them, you're not gonna get six to one
- 32:14Speaker 1: odds to win that because they're gonna be favored in
- 32:17Speaker 1: all those games that would be there. And so it
- 32:19Speaker 1: sets you up with a nice position that you can
- 32:21Speaker 1: build a hedge in and you can go from there.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And then lastly, Scott, give me the Iowa Hawk guys
- 32:29Speaker 1: to win sober seven games. Let's skill Parker with my life.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I don't know that offense is ever gonna do anything,
- 32:37Speaker 1: but man, that defense can play you home field advantage
- 32:41Speaker 1: in Iowa. You go back and watch the one game
- 32:44Speaker 1: Indiana really struggled in last year. Where were they They
- 32:47Speaker 1: were at Kinnick. That's right, it's tough to win there.
- 32:51Speaker 1: That defense travels. It always has. If you go look
- 32:55Speaker 1: at that Iowa roster, it doesn't have a lot of
- 32:58Speaker 1: flux in it. And so I will take Iowa to
- 33:01Speaker 1: go over their win total. I almost bet it every
- 33:04Speaker 1: single year. The only thing I'm upset about this year
- 33:07Speaker 1: is I don't think the Iowaiwa State game is gonna
- 33:09Speaker 1: be very good, and that's usually one of my favorite
- 33:12Speaker 1: under the radar games early in the season is a
- 33:14Speaker 1: Syhawk game. So those are my three tickets that I've
- 33:17Speaker 1: got in pockets so far.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Interesting like the I like the way you think I'm
- 33:23Speaker 3: gonna give you one from my favorite league. Of course,
- 33:26Speaker 3: I ak Oklahoma sooners that you look around you can
- 33:29Speaker 3: and and you look at DraftKings. It's a good place
- 33:31Speaker 3: to bet over under win totals because they got a
- 33:33Speaker 3: swinging they got a swinging margin.
- 33:36Speaker 1: And you can bet those nationwide.
- 33:38Speaker 3: I know you can't, but this is the first place
- 33:40Speaker 3: I found them, but which is why I like it.
- 33:43Speaker 3: And I like them a lot at that seven and
- 33:46Speaker 3: a half number because I think, I look I like
- 33:50Speaker 3: them at you get plus one fifty six over eight
- 33:52Speaker 3: and a half.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I like, this team's gonna be really good.
- 33:55Speaker 3: The reason this number is as low as it is
- 33:57Speaker 3: is they got at Michigan and at Georgia, and I
- 33:59Speaker 3: think a lot of people are chalk on those up
- 34:00Speaker 3: as two losses. I don't think they lose at Michigan.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Uh that's my that's my personal opinion. But they've also
- 34:06Speaker 3: gotten New Mexico sandwiched in there, which is a potential upset.
- 34:10Speaker 3: So I think that's the reason the schedule is. But
- 34:12Speaker 3: then you look the rest of the way. Of course,
- 34:14Speaker 3: they play Texas neutral field like always. Anchor's a lot
- 34:17Speaker 3: of people that think they could be two and three,
- 34:19Speaker 3: but they may not lose after that. The road games
- 34:22Speaker 3: are at Mississippi State, at Florida, and at Missouri. They
- 34:25Speaker 3: got they should drill all of those teams. The only
- 34:27Speaker 3: problem with Missouri that's eight straight to end the year,
- 34:30Speaker 3: and that's gonna and as we've talked about adding auseum
- 34:33Speaker 3: on this podcast, that's a tough way. But I like Sooners.
- 34:35Speaker 3: There as an over under wind to I agree we
- 34:37Speaker 3: would notre Dame. The schedule just sets up so fabulous.
- 34:40Speaker 3: How awesome is it gonna be watching the Canes roll
- 34:44Speaker 3: up there first week in November. Baby, it's gonna be Chili.
- 34:48Speaker 3: It's gonna that's gonna be a great ball game, tremendous
- 34:51Speaker 3: ball game. Uh that we'll get to watch. Uh we
- 34:54Speaker 3: get to see Fitz as I talked about earlier, play
- 34:57Speaker 3: them early in September. I think that's third week they play.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Uh so some some fun stuff. I ain't Oklahoma is
- 35:04Speaker 3: a sleeper in the Southeastern Conference because I think that
- 35:06Speaker 3: defense is gonna be better.
- 35:08Speaker 2: They need they need material to stay healthy. Have y'all
- 35:11Speaker 2: seen he looks like it?
- 35:13Speaker 3: You see Trinidad Chambla's post on on on Twitter. They
- 35:18Speaker 3: picture had a picture of Materir warming up and he's shredded.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I mean he has gotten. He is in tremendous shape.
- 35:24Speaker 3: I mean six pack, rocked up. You know, good looking
- 35:28Speaker 3: kid and tread that Chadlis like bro.
- 35:33Speaker 2: It's fabulous.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I mean, just a great, great quote. These kids get
- 35:36Speaker 3: along better. Another thing I want to tell people, we
- 35:39Speaker 3: love to hate the rivalries. In college sports. Camrio, Taylor
- 35:43Speaker 3: and Trinidad Chandler's room together at the Manning Passing Academy
- 35:49Speaker 3: and by his own admission, Camrio or Trinidad Champlas is
- 35:53Speaker 3: on admission. Camorrio was asked about it. They were sitting
- 35:56Speaker 3: around watching film. Chamblas is teaching him how to watch film.
- 35:59Speaker 3: He said, I'm really good as I'm good at watching film.
- 36:02Speaker 3: He was like, man, you find things out blah blah
- 36:04Speaker 3: blah blah. And he talks about how much Chambler's helped
- 36:07Speaker 3: him to understand. I got to dig in. Well, Taylor's
- 36:10Speaker 3: always had a very good work ethic is what everybody
- 36:13Speaker 3: around the program says. But I think it's fascinating we
- 36:15Speaker 3: chalk so much up into these rivalries. Let me tell
- 36:19Speaker 3: you something. They may still mean something to the fan bases,
- 36:21Speaker 3: they don't mean jack shit to these kids. These kids
- 36:23Speaker 3: are in and out their friends. The ball game's over,
- 36:27Speaker 3: it's over, they're hanging out. It's not like it used
- 36:30Speaker 3: to be. I mean, it really is. I don't I
- 36:32Speaker 3: think the brawls and things like that. I think you
- 36:34Speaker 3: want to see less and less of that because I
- 36:36Speaker 3: don't think these kids care. They're getting paid. They're all friends,
- 36:39Speaker 3: they're camps together, they know each other. I mean it's wild,
- 36:42Speaker 3: Like I look around at all all these kids in
- 36:44Speaker 3: North Texas. My son knows from playing seven on seven
- 36:48Speaker 3: and you know play I mean kid football.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I mean just I mean.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I go back and look at all the kids that
- 36:52Speaker 3: have played number one quarterback in the countries at Alan
- 36:54Speaker 3: Chases Chason Oseck. I mean, it's known that kid for years.
- 36:58Speaker 3: You know, I didn't even realize that played against each
- 37:00Speaker 3: other when they were young. You know, it's crazy what
- 37:04Speaker 3: all you know, how all these kids are all exposed
- 37:07Speaker 3: to each other. It just doesn't matter. They're friends. And
- 37:10Speaker 3: yeah they're out there playing hard. Doesn't mean they're not
- 37:12Speaker 3: playing and don't want to win their competitors. They want
- 37:14Speaker 3: it for bragging rights over their buddy as much as anything.
- 37:17Speaker 3: But all these kids are friends.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, now I agree with you. So anyway, folks
- 37:21Speaker 1: are we'll get this one out. We'll probably be dropping
- 37:24Speaker 1: a couple of these a week. I have no idea
- 37:26Speaker 1: what days of the week we'll be popping these out
- 37:28Speaker 1: as the season gets rolling. Wednesdays we'll be dropping every Wednesday.
- 37:32Speaker 1: We'll have a podcast for twenty straight weeks getting everything
- 37:35Speaker 1: rolling there. We're gonna try to lay some nuggets out.
- 37:37Speaker 1: There's a chance we might have some late time plays
- 37:39Speaker 1: that we'll be putting out there as well. But stick
- 37:42Speaker 1: with us. We love y'all, Share us with your friends.
- 37:44Speaker 1: There's a ton of content out there. Ours is a
- 37:46Speaker 1: little bit different, but we'll have some fun along the way.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Try to make some bucks and enjoy us some college
- 37:52Speaker 1: football season. Scottie, I'm excited. I'm excited.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I'm excited.
- 37:56Speaker 3: If anybody can tell I'm excited, then hell, you don't
- 37:59Speaker 3: know me at all. You had never listened to this podcast.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Be fun.
- 38:02Speaker 3: Great to get it back. World Cup kind of got
- 38:05Speaker 3: my juices flowing a little bit. It's kind of fun
- 38:07Speaker 3: to watch.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Uh.
- 38:08Speaker 3: It just gave us a little entertainment over the summer
- 38:11Speaker 3: here in the States.
- 38:11Speaker 2: It was great.
- 38:13Speaker 1: It's interesting you say that. I'll tell you this, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: I'm not name dropping. I was at Circa last week
- 38:18Speaker 1: signing up for Circa Millions in the Survivor contest, and
- 38:22Speaker 1: I'm standing there at the Megabar. If you've ever been
- 38:24Speaker 1: to Circa, it's it's huge. Yeah, and there's nobody there
- 38:26Speaker 1: because it's dead summer it's the it's the only time
- 38:29Speaker 1: of year ago when there's nobody in Vegas and I'm
- 38:31Speaker 1: standing there and Doug Kazarian comes walking up and he's
- 38:34Speaker 1: standing next to me. You know, I'm talking about the
- 38:36Speaker 1: ESPN guy that did esp well randomly. He went to
- 38:40Speaker 1: high school and grew up with a buddy of mine.
- 38:41Speaker 1: So I like, hey, are you Doug Kazarian? He was
- 38:44Speaker 1: like yeah, And I was like, I think he thought
- 38:45Speaker 1: I was gonna fanboy and I was like, you remember
- 38:48Speaker 1: such and such. He was like, yeah, go he's one
- 38:50Speaker 1: of my dear friends. He started laughing. So we talked
- 38:52Speaker 1: for a while and uh, he made an analogy I
- 38:55Speaker 1: had never heard before, but it made a lot of
- 38:57Speaker 1: sense because after just watching the World Cup, he said,
- 39:01Speaker 1: you know, because we were talking about what we like
- 39:02Speaker 1: to bet and everything, and he said, oh yeah, and
- 39:05Speaker 1: I said college football. He goes, Yep, he goes, that
- 39:08Speaker 1: is America's World Cup. He goes every well, he goes,
- 39:11Speaker 1: but we get it every year, and he goes. It
- 39:13Speaker 1: ends in January and then for the next seven months
- 39:16Speaker 1: all we do is think about it, get ready for it,
- 39:19Speaker 1: and then it starts and come August, everybody's got a
- 39:22Speaker 1: shot because it's like we're all in it together to
- 39:24Speaker 1: try to get home, and he goes, and you've got
- 39:27Speaker 1: these vested interest in it, just like you're cheered.
- 39:29Speaker 3: And every and every fan base is like their country, Yeah,
- 39:33Speaker 3: gets ripped out when they're team's out of it.
- 39:35Speaker 1: And then you said, but the other thing too, that's
- 39:36Speaker 1: different between the college game and the pro game in
- 39:39Speaker 1: this sense is as the season gets rolled, these storylines
- 39:43Speaker 1: start developing. You've got players stories that come out, coaches
- 39:46Speaker 1: stories how it's all going to work and get woven together.
- 39:49Speaker 1: But the only time of the year that's even tolerable
- 39:52Speaker 1: to what to be around college football for me is
- 39:55Speaker 1: once week zero hits and it starts, because from that
- 39:58Speaker 1: point on is the only time all the noise is gone.
- 40:02Speaker 1: We're not talking about commission you know, changing conferences, we're
- 40:05Speaker 1: not talking about all the other things that are strange
- 40:07Speaker 1: in college football. Once you lock in, when you get
- 40:10Speaker 1: to August until let's you know, until we get to
- 40:12Speaker 1: the end, that's the only time that there's no noise
- 40:15Speaker 1: and you just get to enjoy the game, bet on
- 40:17Speaker 1: the game, and just laugh at some of the stuff
- 40:20Speaker 1: that goes on in college football because It is a
- 40:23Speaker 1: made for TV sport and it is fantastic all the
- 40:26Speaker 1: way through. Scotty, I'm looking forward to it, brother, one
- 40:30Speaker 1: more year. Let's keep this thing rolling.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Sounds good, folks, Download us, share us with your friends,
- 40:36Speaker 1: give us some reviews, leave us some funny reviews. We'll
- 40:38Speaker 1: put them on the air this year. Love y'all and
- 40:41Speaker 1: talk to you next week.
