- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: All right, be a babe, get ready.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: This, this, the word this comes up in this podcast so many times as a like double tap as a thumbs up as like high five as, I mean, if I could have done this in person, we would have been like just high five in each other at the whole, but I am obsessed with this person.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: Chanteco field, the movement my stroke is our guest today.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_03]: And someone who has impressed me,
- 1:17[SPEAKER_03]: From the moment I was introduced to her in so many freaking ways and what I love is like I got to watch her on the outside looking in and then I got to know her on the inside and still just like we don't live in the same place so let's just like watch him from afar and like being an Instagram friend hopefully real-life friend from afar but then getting to talk to Chantay today and here the journey that they've been on.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_03]: the journey that they're still on, the way they make decisions.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so excited for you because no matter if you run your own business, you work for someone, you are a human being, and you are going to hear so many things that is going to help you.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_03]: Be you, be more you, so much permission is going to be granted.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope this is an episode that you save and hit on replay because I know I am.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_03]: I know I can't even wait to listen to this again.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: And also, I hope that this allows, if you don't know who Shantai is, I hope this helps you find them follow them and get more from them because they will, they have so much to teach.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_03]: There is an inherent teacher, so Shantai will feel, thank you so much in advance.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: You guys, here is the Beapod, with Shantai, go and feel it.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: Enjoy!
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, be a babe.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Get ready.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_03]: This is going to be amazing.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_03]: I know that currently Brad has no idea him talking to otherwise he'd be in this room.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: He's so jealous.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_03]: He loves this person so much.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_03]: So Sean take call field.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: The movement, my stroke.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: Here you are.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_03]: Finally.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: Here I am.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for having me on.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm actually legitimately excited to be on this podcast.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Let's fucking do it.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: This is going to be great.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: So here's the thing you guys.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: I met trying to through Joel Coleman, who's been on the pod before.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_03]: And one of the things that you might not, well, you know this about yourself, because that's what you teach people on.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_03]: But like, I see a recycling truck.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I think of you.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: That's normal.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: And thank you for knowing it's a recycling truck.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: Not the garbage truck.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like the garbage truck.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I was reading through your form and everything and I was like, Oh, she does have a bright green Jeep.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: She does.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: So Tante, if in case people don't who you are, can you tell of who you are what you rock at?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, absolutely.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: Again, thank you for having me on and you listening.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for being here.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I tried to make cool field like I think more colloquially or now more commonly known as mice row.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: I have a physical therapist by trade and entrepreneur by choice and now I spend my days in Southern California,
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: trying to make the money is I do online business coaching.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: So like Leslie, it's said, Jill Coleman is my business partner for one of the projects that we coach good coaching program everyone together.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: But I help health and fitness pros run builds grow profitable.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's an important word there online personal brands.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_02]: That is my niche.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: That is my zone of genius largely using Instagram as their initial kind of top of funnel.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's I love that you had like by trade and then by choice.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think a lot of people get stuck on the by trade and they kind of don't choose like do other things.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_03]: How long ago did you do that though?
- 4:12[SPEAKER_03]: And like was a serious thing.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: Totally, so I graduated from P.T.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: School in 2010.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: I did it for eight years.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: And during that time, kind of in the back end of that, I started working for a company called RockTapes.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: So if any of you have seen a colorful tape that the athletes wear, okay, we'll actually put like, can you seeology tape on the map?
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: I started working for one of those companies and I was a lead instructor and that's when I really found that I love teaching and I literally traveled the world teaching for them.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, growing up, I wanted to have a job that I could go on planes and I could stay in hotels.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why one of that, but I did, and then I became a physical therapist, and I was like, well, that's not going to really allow for that.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: And then I got that job, and I found myself traveling and teaching across world.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I was currently building my personal brand kind of inadvertently building it.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: not even kind of 100% inadvertently building a personal brand as the movement my show on Instagram because I was like, I have stuff to say and this is fun and I'll connect with people.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: So I did, I practiced for eight years and this towards the end of it, I was practicing less and I was teaching more very much knowing that I would step back from, I'm treating because I didn't really love it, but safe and it's a great first career, but you can't really in my opinion teach just from theory, like you have to be practicing still and I was like,
- 5:25[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even enjoy this.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really want to be doing this anymore.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_02]: And so the pivot came in 2020.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I was doing things behind the scenes, kind of the online business stuff behind the scenes.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: I met Jill in 2019 and we linked up.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_02]: But 2020, I was like, I am done with DT stuff.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm done talking about it, coaching it, teaching it, working in that field.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then COVID was like, okay.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: Here you go and the pivot was actually very easy because I couldn't travel anymore I did buy out my stuff online and I just brought all of the kind of coaching business stuff The people been asking me for it's about that font facing then stopped with the the PT stuff
- 6:02[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny, like I think, you know, obviously 2020 was terrible for so many reasons and both and and also like you can't have bad without good like that's a balance and so like if you take advantage of of the the opportunity that it was there, which is like, oh, I can't like the play ground has said that this is the box and if I so how to be creative in that box and we also
- 6:26[SPEAKER_03]: Matt Jill in 2019 and then because of a 30 minute talk she did we like did her notes and then I liked DMT or like two months and I was like just so you know thanks for what you did in someone else's thing we did it and we made $20,000.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know but like because of how things change it really did a lint itself for people who wanted to make a big pivot and I love that you took a
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: People who hear that though when people work online, they think, oh my god, you get to work for yourself.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's like the dream life.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: We're just all printing money.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's a coffee.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, you guys, printing money.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I think it's also easy for people to make a switch and then overwork themselves on something that I am so attracted to about you.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, you don't do that.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I am 100% of the lifestyle business mindset.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: And mind you lifestyle business doesn't mean like being a popper.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like what's the lifestyle that you want?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_02]: And if you want some extravagant lifestyle, then you're going to have to work.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: And earn, you know, commensurate with that.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: But for me, it is...
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: The reason I do what I do and make any money is so that I can live in the way that I want, you know, and I want to have a lot of time to do the stuff I want to do on a play guitar, I go to the beach a ton.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: Jill and I are really good balance in that way, because Jill loves the work.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: She loves it.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: She loves being in it.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: She loves the strategy and I'm like, I'm going to go to the beach now.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go and play volleyball.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go downstairs and.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_02]: You know, lift.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: I have a gym that we put in the house.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, yes, I have to make enough money that allows for that lifestyle, but the reason that I do things in my first choice will always be, I'm going to go out and live and do the fun activities or stay home and do the activities as opposed to being like work work.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_03]: So is that easy for you, like, is that how you've always been?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like, is it hard for people around you?
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think that it is.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's that there's a, that's definitely, I love you as this question, because I think that it's super important when we're listening to people speak and we're looking to take lessons from them and advice from them, that we also realize where they are in life.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm 40.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Right, so it's not that if I would not be saying this, if I was 20 right, so when I was 20 I was in I was in college and then I meet up after that I was in grad school and then I was living in New York City working a lot like still very much being like I want this I want to be able to do things on my own time, but new that I couldn't I was like I have do work and I'm have no money and I live in New York City, but that was definitely always.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: The goal, whether I feel as it or not, was this time flexibility and being in control of my own time.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: So it is easy for me to do that now, and it's all that I want to do now.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I can actually afford to do that.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm able to do that because I'm not 20 and I'm not 25.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I do think that there is a time in life where and like,
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: you grind.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: The analogy I like to use is surfing.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: First of all, I live by the ocean.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: I don't go in the water, but I understand it.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: I love you so much, because I love the ocean.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: I don't go by people that you don't go in.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, no, like anything touching me that I can't see.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: I will look at it.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't need to be up in the ocean.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I watch all the surfers there and like if you want to ride the wave if you want to coast you have to paddle out You don't just end up out there on the wave and like oh look at me like
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: You have to, and first of all, I don't know if you've ever watched people surfing you like this is like so much work.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then I go in like under the ways and that things are hitting them and the board is going backwards there's a lot of work that gets put up, it gets done, it's get front loaded and then you're like, all right, cool, I can ride this wave and sit here and I can pick which wave I ride, but that's after all the work comes.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: So no, no, it's not a hard thing for me to decide to do now or live into now, but also like I'm 40.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not 25.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_03]: I actually, that's so funny.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you have that idea of people think that like, so people are served or just like, easy go in like, they're just like, actually like, they are the most organized, harworking folks I've ever met because they're like, they know when the waves are gonna be great.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_03]: They work their, they schedule everything around that.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_03]: They work really hard.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I went to a yoga teacher who was like, so is then so chill.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_03]: He taught at 5 a.m., the news outright in the waves and he taught it get us 9 a.m., you get like this.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: This.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: But I want to see some like hanging loose or what a hanging tan and they're like, Oh, they have their chill.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's like actually, so that's such a beautiful analogy.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's funny.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: I always tell people like, oh, I'm doing an interview.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_03]: Like, well, I'm 42 because I think like you do have to say, like, I can say this and I can work.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but my schedule really does.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: My work schedule really is only nine to four.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_03]: Because when I was 30, it was six, it was seven.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_03]: Look at me.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: I need you to understand that.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_02]: Folks that like, that is.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_02]: how it works.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like in general, I love that you tied that tend to that with with surfers and one thing I think about with that is that form allows for flow.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I were like, yeah, he has this schedule only has like this times and like yes, we are dictated by like what weather is doing.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: Right, and that allows for me to be able to like go with the flow because I had these things whether that's like in a time, like a looking across a timeline that I did these things first or I'm looking within my day and it's like, okay, like structure this and
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely, but is it easy for the people around you because I know like I like I have learned this is what I'm creative.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_03]: This is when I can actually do the best coaching if I miss this opportunity we're not even posting because it doesn't work for me like I just you know I've got about and like they're other people like oh you're like like I feel like you're you're so cold and like I'm not cold 6 a.m.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: to 9 a.m.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: it's my time.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: You cannot be in my time.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, no one has had an issue.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, my partner likes she does on the business.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: She gets that she's known me for a long time too.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: So if she knows how I am, and I think that exactly what you just said, one of the best things that we talked about before we got on the call, this is like the safety of authenticity that can be kind of overused as a word, but one of the biggest gifts of actually showing up authentically is that you give other people permission to do the same.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: Now that they need it, but they are looking for it.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: And so when you show up and you're like, yeah, this is what I do.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: This is the time I take this is how like why I'm going to be doing this.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm putting myself first.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'm scheduling this first.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_02]: You give other people the permission to do that.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And people like that, they're like, oh, if maybe maybe they have them in your show pushback, but that's because they're like, oh, shit, you just hold up a mirror.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_02]: And now I have to look at myself and be like, am I doing that?
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: I could do that.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: What's stopping me from doing that?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: So I've had no pushback with it at all.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I've, I see this whenever I go on podcasts or talk about things like,
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: everything.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: I read it to my mom and just like how she raised me and I like she's always supported me.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: There was never like a little bit of doubt or none of that.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was just like, okay, you're soccer.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking you.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: You want to do this?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like there was never anything but support.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I've never, I've never been an environment.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_02]: I never thought to be an environment or been okay in an environment where someone's like pushing back on just how I am.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be like, why?
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: What is this?
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: The
- 13:24[SPEAKER_03]: What a cool mom, what a cool, like a vault healthy super super fortunate.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yes, and also let like it allows for you to be you and then again be that mere further people.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_03]: So okay, it's called the ATC at because I don't like the way fake it tell you make it sounds and I always been someone who like is like, okay, I don't know how to be the person who runs a business by herself.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_03]: So what if I had to know and like what would I do if I had to know?
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: So that's kind of how I've always
- 13:54[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I followed you for years and I love that you like I find and I'm sure this is like literally what you deal with is like so many people are afraid to put themselves out there as either themselves or the person that they would like to see them as and you teach that and also like you know in the last recent shit show we've all been and I've watched you continue to show up authentically and so I guess I want to know like are there tips for being
- 14:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is why I'm really excited to come on in this podcast because it is something that I've learned that this is
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: what I do and teach.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't go into online space or anything.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: But that'd be like this is what I'm going to help people with, but, you know, movement and Instagram and online business, it's all just been a vehicle to help people live into themselves and create their best lives.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I didn't realize that that was a difficult thing for people.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't see that as like, oh, it's so easy.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_02]: It was just like that's not the world that I was in in any way.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so they're talking to me when you're like, oh,
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: This is something that's difficult for you for many reasons.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_02]: The society is designed so that this is difficult for you.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and then seeing, I'm like, okay, let me see what I can do or what I've been doing and kind of like put a process to it if you will to try and help people.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think the most simplest, the simplest, easiest thing, the action item is do it scared.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's no other way around it.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think that we like to kind of like
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: Brian dissected and why am I like this and why do I just think that's helpful and fine but like you still have to then do it.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: There's no that there's no like I'm going to think my way out of this or into this.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: It's like I still have to take the action and show up in this way.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: So for waiting to like feel better about it, we know that this conference is a byproduct, right?
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's on the other side of action.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_02]: Do the line that I give people that I tell people
- 15:48[SPEAKER_02]: Right, the yes, there can be action items of accountability or you're like, I'm working with somebody and like, I just have to show up.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: I have to post.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: I've given myself a timeframes and constraints, because we know deadlines are magic, but the to me, the big take home is there do it's cared.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_02]: You're probably going to feel uncomfortable.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably going to feel far and it's probably not going to feel good.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: You're probably going to be like having all these thoughts, do it anyway because of the feeling you're searching for the governance, all of that.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's on the other side of the action.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: It's really true like people.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: So we have since I last saw you like we actually have like streamlined so many things and because of all the coaching I've done for 10 plus years.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: And because the world made me put everything out in blogs back in the day and videos we were able to train an actual bot to be me.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and it's great, fabulous.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_03]: She, she has the best grammar that I never had.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm like, wow, I love that the internet's helping with the commas, like it's so great.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: But somebody asked my bot, like, you know, a question where like, you know, confidence came up.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_03]: And my bot said a very true story about how I had, you know, like, I do these things scared.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not always confident what I'm doing.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_03]: And the person's like, you're not always confident.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_03]: You seem so confident.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_03]: And it's so funny because it's like,
- 17:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think people are so good at seeing what they want to see in other people that you know that right there because they don't see That they don't see oh she's doing that scared.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_03]: They see they only see it as like she's confident and it's really like I tell everyone I do everything like as if the roller coaster is like at the tip and I'm screaming down the other side and Hoping I'm just gonna go with the flow of it all because you get confident from doing the thing you said here and I do
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, I think, you know, there's also a lot to be said from drawing from data, right?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm a physiotherapist, I trade that science through and through is how my brain works.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: I want logic.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: I want reason.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be rational.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much to be said to actually generating evidence and generating data first.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then the second part, which is hard to people, is believing it.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there's always this discussion around imposter syndrome.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of, you know,
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: routes we can take and how it's like Sicily imposed and all the other things and I'm like from me part of the rational side of it is I'm like maybe you're just not that good yet if you just started why would you be good at this thing so you feeling like I'm not good enough like you're right that for yourself you're right you're not that good yet and then we go and we learn the things and we get the rest and then this is where I see the switch doesn't flip you have to choose to believe that evidence.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_02]: because I'll have people that do the things and I'm like you've been doing this for five years you're still not confident like you have to choose to believe at that day one no you're not good, objectively you're not, but like it's okay yeah you're five
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: You are better.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_02]: You have to look at all of this data that you have generated and then you have to choose to believe it and then act from that.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: Can you still, or will you still be scared or have feelings about certain things?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but it's typically the new things that you haven't done moving forward.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: You have this new foundation.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: You have stepping stones that you've literally laid and placed yourself and you have to choose to believe the instructional integrity of these things.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_03]: I have obsessed with that science button and I also, okay, Seth go in deck like probably there's no deck at a go.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_03]: I was listening to podcasts when I couldn't afford coaching.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_03]: I was like these people are my coach and Seth Netton was like being asked what I'm Poster's syndrome and he said, if you're new at something you are in fact an imposter.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_03]: Exactly, and he's just like so just feel those feelings and then take this stabs to not be that way I said like and he also said and then also take it to the sign that you're probably not a narcissist as well So when you that conjunction care.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because you care so we can remove now that we've like established You're not a crazy economic narcissist and you are new.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: I'll allow yourself to be new But then go do the thing and I'm so I have a
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: had some people, some teachers at my house and were, they graduate from my mentorship program and they were here at the house for a treat.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_03]: And one was like, oh, I can't do this exercise.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_03]: I can't do this exercise.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, okay, well, let's just see what you can do.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_03]: So they do it.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_03]: And they come right up and I'm like, so you just did it.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_03]: So you can do it like objectively.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't like, you need to believe in you more than I believe in you.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yes, I'm a teacher.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like how do you usually that is huge and I think that one of the things that I will talk to people about or say to people as they're on this journey is borrowing confidence right and so when we're starting out and we're new with something one of the best gifts you can give yourself is if someone chooses to believe in you believe them
- 20:26[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think about, you know, you had asked with the podcast and I love, by the way, how organized your shit is one of the things I was asking and that's a little pre podcast thing.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I was thinking of like, you know, instances and for me, it was starting with rock tape and starting to teach with them.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: I did reach out because I was like, I can do this because I was five years into my career already.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't like day one.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I can get people better.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: I could do this.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: I could learn and like learn how to teach this, but like I have a solid foundation.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good at what I do.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_02]: But going into this, one of the women, one of the headwomen Allison, Allison Evans, she is my self-pointed mentor.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: We still talk like nearly every day.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_02]: She believed in me.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: And she really believed that I could do this and could teach and like she put me on stages and help me.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I'm going to choose to believe her.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: And that confidence I did have to borrow it like I had my own coming in, but any that I needed I would borrow from her and then use that moving forward so that one of the best gifts that you can give yourself if you are foundering,
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: I want to put that on replay Evans and her wine that I want to put that on replay because like I It's so true.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_03]: I was years entirely 20 this is like 2018 and I had I had been traveling a bit to I was being hired at each and different countries and I was always so shocked.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, oh my god They found me.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_03]: This is like you guys this is 14 15.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't really doing it on Instagram.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_03]: They were finding me through like YouTube and then word of mouth So then it's like 2018
- 21:55[SPEAKER_03]: a girlfriend of mine wanted a host's big event and she was like she was picking all of her friends to do it because we believed in her, right?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: But so I believed in her that she could do this event.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I found myself on a stage.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: My husband was actually Mikey on me.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_03]: There's 85 people in this class.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, is this my gun?
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: He goes, no, and I was like, I think I'm a little bit nervous.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I think there's a mistake here, right?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and he goes, why?
- 22:18[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, I just don't know, like 85 people.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_03]: I've never taught 85 people.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm looking at this front row.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_03]: And there's like famous teachers in the front row and brand new people in the front row.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm having just like a little, having a little moment, having a little positive moments.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: And he goes, how is this different than anything you've already done?
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like I needed to go back and borrow that comment also be reminded you actually done this it's just more people that that that you're human the reminders the other people the people that are believing you that the people are giving me like hate all of this.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Take all of it.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, times a million.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_03]: So, you, you, you've, you went from, I mean, like, love, rock tape.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_03]: Thank God for rock tape.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_03]: And I'd save, but between the antibodies saved my knees and my hips from all my running career.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: So, very appreciative.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then you got into what people would say is like, a huge pivot.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't know that many people wouldn't
- 23:17[SPEAKER_03]: Like the, like the trend of like, oh, you go, you have physical therapists and you're a rock tape expert and then you teach people how to be on Instagram.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_03]: So you had the teacher confidence and you've from the teaching you done that.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_03]: But and you had the confidence in what you've put out and what you grew on your own.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: But what was the beta you see it?
- 23:35[SPEAKER_03]: How did you like, how, how did you set yourself up to like coach people on something completely different than what you went to college.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: Hold on.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: Totally, I and I love the phrase that it's be it to you see it because you're not actually faking it, right?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: So to me that my one of my whole sticks is safety and having a safety net.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so from the outside people will think you've taken massive leaps and then if they're like behind the scenes, if they actually were with you the whole time, you know, they realized like there's these little steps that you just like didn't fucking stop us.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: So everything led to the next thing, you know,
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: being able to be on social media and being able to teach in person and give presentations came from the fact that they did it for a million years right growing up going through high school going through college and then pt school you did a million presentations so like going and doing more of them unlike this is the same is actually not an issue at all being able to speak to people and connect with people that's when being a visual therapist like that's literally all you do all day long like this skills that just carries over to the next thing coaching things I've been in sports my whole life I've been coaching my whole life
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: So then going into the online business realm, it wasn't so much of a pivot because I was doing PT.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: All I did was I took all my PT stuff and I started putting it on Instagram because I was like, I started using Instagram simply because I was like, I would like to connect with other people.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't do it to, this is 2014, right?
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't do it to start a brand.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't do it because like, no one really doing it to be completely honest in terms of like the PT world.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, wow, Doc was doing it.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_02]: Perry Nicholson was doing it, but it wasn't like a big thing to see like PT's and Cairo's just like,
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know it's hard to be able to believe, but there was a window where social media was just social.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like, use my breakfast.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was no.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I know, here's the sunrise.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_03]: I look at the sunrise, I did.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_03]: Just like at this tree.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in my tone.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_02]: Melted here.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was not, it was like not a thing.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I was like, okay, I see people doing it.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to connect with people.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, I'm a mind you have five years into my career right now.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: Like I was like, I can just take what I've been doing.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: During the day videos was only 15 seconds long.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, first iPhone and even have like a camera, I mean, a video on it.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was just like, this is a very different way of doing things a different time.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm taking my PT stuff.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm putting that on social media.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: I got, I grow a following behind that.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: Thinking I wanted to work with Crossfitters, but who followed me was other PT's.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I see why, looking back on the language I was using how I was showing up.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: So then I start teaching them things I'm running courses, though, like I'm able to run my own courses because I work for rock tape at that point.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: four years.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so I knew how to run a course.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: I knew how much I would need to charge in order to like turn a profit on this.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: I had connections all around.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: I launched my personal course in Australia and New Zealand because I had connections from.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: As I'm running all these courses in any time I would go and they would I would be specifically asked to teach a course I by the by the like the years three of this I already knew if that facility asked for me specifically I already knew that owner was going to be like hey can we go out to dinner and then they were going to ask me business stuff and they're like going to be like I want to leave I wanted something else so getting asked all these questions starting to work with those people but it was just behind the scene yeah people didn't know I'm doing it but I'm like I've been doing this for years.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: So then, 2019 comes, I start bringing more of it front facing, Jill and I host a live event.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: That was my first live event with like online business.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, okay, this is new.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm not wearing confidence from Jill.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: Jill believes in me.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to just stay in my link with this stuff and teach this stuff.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_02]: And and go into that even because I've been doing it like behind the scenes, but not so front facing.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then 2020, I literally just took all the stuff that I was doing behind the scenes and brought it fun facing, right?
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: And largely what I was doing initially in 2020 was teaching people how to bring their presence online.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't so much of the true, like, launch strategy and things like that.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: That I learned a ton from Jill and then also going through that subsequently.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I started out with what I knew and what I'd been helping with people with already.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_02]: So the pivot felt like a lot, like, looked like a lot from the outside, but behind the scenes, it was literally like, okay, it's just the next stepping stone and taking all that I've done with me and using it for the next step.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_03]: I am so obsessed with the way that you like talk about what people see on the outside and then the bite baby says behind the scenes.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_03]: Because I do think that they go, oh,
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know, Leslie does this and she does this and she does this and so I'm going to go to these things and it's like, okay, behind the scenes.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_03]: There are 20 people who do the million steps.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_03]: There are like, from the time I end this call with you.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_03]: I don't touch this again until a recap episode and it goes through all the things that does all this up.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_03]: And then I don't, I just hear it on the places you listen to podcasts too, like, because because behind the scenes, you're not no one's posted.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: That's boring.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: No one actually wants to know how many baby steps are back there.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: You took what you were being asked a lot and the experiences you were having and you were utilizing that and I think we're a lot of people They try to create it from the in point from like where this like oh here's Shantai on the stage So I'm going to do which on days when the stage and what am I going to talk about what if you
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you got to go back behind the scenes and like you mentioned earlier where it's like I didn't know people had a hard time doing this thing that came so easy to me and I think like for anyone listening if you're wondering what you might me doing whatever you think is easy someone else a lot of other people think it's so bad.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they've got some rock, oh, I had no idea, oh, I think that that gets a kind of like one thing we haven't discussed is like the societal implications, right?
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like how society and patriarchy and supremacy calls for play into all of this and we are fed this why that success requires struggle.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's a difference.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: So success requires hard work.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: but not struggle.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: So if we go back to this this surfer analogy, this would be like, you don't know how to swim.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_02]: You hate the water.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: There's sharks in there.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: And people think, like, that's how you have to do it in order to be able to, like, surf.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, you should maybe stay on land and, like, play volleyball.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, don't do something else.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: You don't even like swimming.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what do you why do you think we have to be this struggle?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: And such, yes, there is hard work.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_02]: But it is with things that you enjoy doing with people you enjoy being around.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: And then it doesn't
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: God, I'm like pulling teeth and it's the worst thing ever.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: I truly believe that humans left to their own devices.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: They will create, they will work hard, they will do so much.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_02]: People are not inherently lazy.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: We all know, anyone that's listening to this, you have any, if you've ever created something.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: of anything.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, I like this thing.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: You will stay up all night.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: You'll miss meals.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_02]: You'll skip these things.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to finish this thing like that.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's in us.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: But we've fed this lie that we have to struggle and we have to suffer and it has to be the worst thing ever.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's a lot of work.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we should probably expand our timelines for things.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: We have timelines in terms of minutes.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, make it years and you'll never fail.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right now it's minutes.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: And you're like, I didn't do it.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: But if you are finding things leaning into these things and like, hey, I'm naturally good at it.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good thing, but we're kind of taught.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you're naturally good at it.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's easy.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: That means that you're lazy or that if you're doing it, if you're going to do that, that means that like you're taking the easy route and that's bad and it's like, no, do the things that you like do the things that come easily.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_02]: That is great.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we're going for, not this life of like, I hate the things I have to go to where I have to do this.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: I have to struggle and suffer for it to be worthwhile.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, absolutely no.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_03]: No, and I think there's that I love the distinction hard work versus struggle.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_03]: And you mentioned that like the interesting thing, I don't know, intriguing, the crazy thing about the society that we are in currently.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: It is like before I go on this with you, my team is like, hey, what's of these podcasts do you want us to pitch you to?
- 31:22[SPEAKER_03]: I was like looking, and I'm like,
- 31:23[SPEAKER_03]: you guys anything that is just looks like an alpha male like you can just say no like you don't you can ask me I don't care if it's a 0.1% podcast I don't care if I'm the first expert ever they want to talk about Pilates and how it's good for them like I'm going to tell you right now like I cannot handle that vibe and I don't need to.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_03]: No, I can wear a card and not struggle and that would be a struggle, right?
- 31:46[SPEAKER_03]: So like, you know, I I like no, and I think what a lot of people have done online is like, oh, that's popular What this dickhead over here is doing his popular and using the red and the orange and like I mean now I'm gonna use the only steak and so I'm gonna go that way You know and like people have forgotten to like beat themselves and be different
- 32:08[SPEAKER_02]: This, this, this, this, this times a million times a million.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_02]: But we're looking at sustainability as well, right?
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like sustainability and longevity, because that's what the play should be.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_02]: Being anything but yourself is unsustainable.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like it may being it might bring you flash in the pan success.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: It might at absolutely maybe you might be able to trend drag something and ride that wave for a certain you might But we also see we've seen it publicly in social media where people are like I have to stop doing social media I built this thing.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: I hate it.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: I have this massive audience.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's fake.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like it and it's like
- 32:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I'm also thinking about we're just seeing the end product of that right where there's like I'm so unhappy I have to like stop this person's been living like that for however long that's not life is short man we're not here to be miserable every day and baking this thing like I love that you're not this fake it to you make it I'm like.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_02]: People be faking it till they die, you know, like, that's not it.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's not it.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_03]: It's really not it.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: So, and talk about like, impossible.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_03]: You'll never feel that way.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: So Martha Stewart's not one of my favorite people in the world.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_03]: She's a badass.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_03]: And like, let's just give her that.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: And also, she's been to prison.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: That was a yes.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_03]: just just a woman doing something in the end does and they're gonna put her in prison.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_03]: And they'll bring them.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_03]: So if they want to imprison them in on it, then fine.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm okay with it.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: But if we're not doing that, anyways, that's the thing.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_03]: Different argument.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_03]: But she had her version of the apprentice.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like when I was like, you know, I don't know, maybe it's in college or in high school.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I remember someone said, well, we got to fake it until you make it.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_03]: And Martha said, we never fake anything around here.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, I mean, come on, Martha.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_03]: You fake a little bit, right?
- 33:45[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I had this thing, like, I just remember, and I remember that going, like, really, you don't fake anything.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: And then, as I got older and I started to like, I was like, I was doing it.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, I'm not faking anything.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: This is me.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_03]: But like, acting like, if I had the, if I knew how that worked or if I wasn't scared, so it's just, you know, when you think what actors do, we don't call them faking it when they're on white lotus.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_03]: They are acting like this.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: You're scared, gargbear.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, that gives me nightmares at the same time.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just like you get to act like the person who would have the confidence.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_03]: You're actually the person who is doing the hard work but not struggling.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: That helps you make decisions that you can filter through until you are.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_03]: You realize when do you woke up and you are that person?
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's who you are because that's who you always work.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_02]: That last part though, as I think that's really huge.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: Because.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's who you always were.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: There's something to be sad if you could really sit and dissect this like be it till you see it It's not faking it because like it is you like maybe don't know this thing, but it's still you Still you choosing to do this is still you having the confidence to do this and you're not lying to think to someone being like I'm a surgeon like that is different.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: That's completely different, but it is you.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there is no fake
- 34:58[SPEAKER_04]: do this.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like whether or not it's just the new ones and the the verbiage there that you don't have the like the confidence that you believe someone who's like been this way for a long time has, but it's still you're still there.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of still you.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_03]: You've always been the person that I look to when it's like, okay, what's going on with Instagram?
- 35:18[SPEAKER_03]: Like what's going on with saying Leslie just get out of your fucking way and do just do a just do the thing.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm just like such a reluctant Instagrammer because I've done so well with the YouTube and the other things and so to me.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm just kind of like I don't I don't always hop on trends like I'm like I'm just like here's kind of I'm too busy actually.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_03]: So here's here's picture of me and my assistant and I'll get back to you next week because I got you to do but
- 35:40[SPEAKER_03]: something that like you I've been watching you and you're so good and you're so creative and you're always so consistent and also after the election you to me I think on the outsiders perspective people might have thought you were pivoting you were being you in my because then maybe because I know you behind the scenes a bit but like
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: It didn't seem like a pivot.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: It seemed like you just don't like turning the volume up on you.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_03]: How did it was that what you felt like you were doing?
- 36:09[SPEAKER_03]: Do you feel like you were like, do you do a pushback with people who say you've changed?
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: There was no it was a great question.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: There was no over pushback.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: There was obviously like
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: losing a followers.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So there's like a silent pushback, if you will, but I looks out of that as I didn't have anyone that was like, stay in your lane or stick to politics, like no one said anything to me.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: They were just like, okay, I'm going to show myself the door.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, that's cool.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: I also will say, I don't look at numbers.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: I hate looking at numbers.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: I hate when people are like so in the numbers, because I also believe that I'm pushing on Instagram, a lot of numbers are fake.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: Not even like people buying followers, I'm like, you think to 60,000 people, like, this is Instagram with fake money by using house money and rewarding certain behavior.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: And being like, hey, we like what you're doing.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to give you followers.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: Don't like what you're doing.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take them away.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like the metrics that I want people looking at if we're going to talk Instagram is going to be your actual interaction.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: How many comments are you getting?
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: And are they real?
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: Are you talking to people?
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: How many DMs?
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: How many conversations
- 37:09[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's the stuff that I care about.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_02]: And while I lost one of the quote followers, or I should say, well, I lost one of the quote followers.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I want to be quoting there.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: My engagement and my DMs did not go down.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_02]: I got more comments on the post that I've been doing since the election.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like,
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm good, actually, and I think that my audience, this is, I've been showing up this way long enough of just like this is me and what topic am I speaking about, right?
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: My whole stick has been build, create, live your best life and we're doing it with authenticity because otherwise it's not sustainable, it's not your best life, it's some caricatures, you know, best life.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I've just used vehicles.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_02]: All right, about the years, it's just been vehicles.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's been physical therapy.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's been movement.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's been Instagram.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's been online business.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: And now, I'm just speaking to certain points that it's just like, we're just talking about life now.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing in between to, like, metaphors for you or just talking about life.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just asking you to look at the things that you're doing on the day-to-day, and the things that are happening around us and the implications of that and speaking to that.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: So it hasn't been difficult in the sense of,
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: showing up that way, but it has been difficult for me to have the desire to
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: put out what I consider to be trivial things.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: I understand it can be helpful for certain people, but that's not where I'm at.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: I also have like this kind of internal clock that kind of restats every five years.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_02]: When I'm like, okay, something new.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: So VT was five years, and then the last three, I was teaching and shifting away from treating.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: Then then 2020 hit, and I'm doing all online business.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, it's 2025.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: My clock is like, yeah, next up, what else is there?
- 38:46[SPEAKER_03]: I love that you have that awareness of yourself.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I have a seven year clock and I only learned that like in the like last year I was like kind of felt like the like I felt like I was claustrophobic in my own clothes.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_03]: Perfect.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_03]: And you know, here's the thing like again, behind the scenes, no one can see what we're having to do to pivot.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_03]: Thisness is that you know that part and it takes time that part and what I just love that you mentioned like it's hard to post about trivial things or things that feel trivial to me It has I will be honest like in the ever since like the last year of like my fuck This is where we're headed and like does it really do you really need a fucking tip on that because there's a YouTube video like I I'm trying to figure out
- 39:34[SPEAKER_03]: female business owner who coaches female business owners who's clients are coming in and telling them stupid shit about the economy who's making them doubt that they should raise their rates even though their rent went up their utilities went up like the in the cost to have employees went up like yeah you have to raise your rates because that's the only way to be a business it's good you weren't a charity you are a business if you want to be a charity go file for that you know I am this so I I appreciate that because I had I found like
- 40:01[SPEAKER_03]: You know, not just like what has gone on with politics, but like in the last month, we had something happened in our family.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, I just I had this brand to want me to post something.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_03]: I can I'm sorry.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to fill you now.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_03]: What I love is like you're such you are human and
- 40:16[SPEAKER_03]: You give so many people permission to be that and I didn't even post a ton mostly was all my stories I was like if you follow me like you're gonna get the real me and the stories is where it is and I people You know, I just really liked when you didn't talk about politics and I said I'm so sorry I'm a film business owner that is political that that like like I might have privileges Of a white person, but like I'm still a female business owner who
- 40:38[SPEAKER_03]: Literally only gets people to answer things if I I have my husband on calls for things like I have a I have like here It's your job people are soples
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: audacity of you.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_02]: I wish that the people we coach and people listening to this have the audacity of that person Yes, it comes into your DMs and is like here's how you should run your account I wish we all had that yes, yes, oh my god, did that come from yes We need to find these people like teach it.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: I guess it cuz it's what that's the word it is and like I just said Oh, you know, this is my account Like so I what I said I was like this is my account and like
- 41:14[SPEAKER_03]: I think what rights are actually like just real and human rights.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_03]: But if you don't like hearing about that, you have to follow me here.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_03]: You can just go for free and go on YouTube.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_03]: In fact, they'll make sure whatever ad you get or the ones you want it.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: And you can, you can actually search for the content that you want for me.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_03]: And if you want to pay for it in my membership group, we don't talk about politics.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_03]: But just remember everything is.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's actually everything is.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: a lot and people say that I'm like, you're just saying that it hasn't affected you I'm like, but it is.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_02]: It hasn't affected you in a negative way.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, it's just affecting you, but positively or mentally.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: So it hasn't been hard to switch to speak about that.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's been hard to like you said the behind-the-scenes page on the side of things.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I run my number on program that I run as an Instagram intensive and I haven't run it this year because I'm just like, what do I want to do with this thing?
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how do I want this thing to look?
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: How do I want to do this?
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: Am I wanting to encourage people to go and spend their time with this company that doesn't give me a chance?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's about like, there's a lot of thinking around the intentional Audi piece.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm fortunate and fortunate place that I have the savings to be able to chill out and I have other programs going on and I already have clients that I can be even working with one on one.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I can pull that off on that thing.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_03]: But that has been the only difficulty, but I thank you first because I think like when everything went down I had people in my group going I don't I don't want to post on these platforms So that I want to give them anything and I was like, okay First of all I agree like I like just know that like this you and also
- 42:50[SPEAKER_03]: what I will always coach you and as you have to be where they, your people are.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_03]: So where are your people?
- 42:54[SPEAKER_03]: Because if you are there, then if you're not there, then some dude on the grandpa's stake for three meals a day is going to sell to them.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_03]: Like they're going to buy the solution to their problem.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_03]: So then it's kind of like how do we play in the field, you know, like how do we do it?
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: And so in that that's always been the game.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's always been the game.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like how do we play in this like the sandbox that gets them out of that sandbox and over into the
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely, the intentionality and taking a moment like, again, having time is a luxury, right?
- 43:24[SPEAKER_02]: Time is, to me, like it circles back to being a conversation of like, what ultimately I wanted and having this lifestyle business, it's the translation of that is having time flexibility and having time ownership, I worry.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: I have the time to sit and COVID be saw the importance of time during COVID.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_02]: It might be called at the great pause because it gave people a moment to be like, wait, what do I want?
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: How do I want to do things?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_02]: Do I believe in this?
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: Do I agree with this?
- 43:48[SPEAKER_02]: when we're living in a world that's so fast-paced and you just have to like, you're trying to eat, you're just trying to like get through the day, you don't have the luxury, you don't have the ability to sit and think and be like so intentional with things, right?
- 43:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's all by design, right?
- 44:00[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell like a tin hat, I don't care.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's all by design.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: I am in a place where I have the luxury to sit and be like, okay.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be intentional in a community super intentional with my business and how I'm showing up and how I'm helping people.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_02]: What does that look like?
- 44:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I totally agree.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_02]: There's a huge both hand when it comes to social media.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's like, yes, these businesses and supporting them and you're like, But the flip side is how do I support my people?
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: And if it's like, I have to stay with this nonsense and in this sandbox so that I can reach these people because that's where they're at.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to do that.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, I'm going to move them somewhere else and do other things and show up with my values and encourage them to do the same, but you know, this is taking a beat taking a moment to really fit and identify that and not just being like knee jerk, like I'm done with it all and like yeah, I'm burning it all down, it's like, if that's what you want to do fine, but I'm looking at what's the outcome of that.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_02]: Why am I doing that if my goal is to be able to help people like let me take a moment and figure out.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what's best and how I want to do that.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I could talk to you forever, Shonte.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just obsessed and really we need to have a hang what next time you're here next time I'm there.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to take a brief break and then find out how people can find you follow you work with you.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_02]: That was good.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Chante, where do you hang out?
- 45:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a set Instagram, but also give them all the deeds where can they stalk you in the good way?
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the deeds, I try to keep everything consistent, it's just type in the movement, my stroke anywhere, and it'll come up, and then you can do whatever you want with it.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: My website, myshirt.com, Instagram, the movement, my stroke, I'm on threads, as the movement, my stroke, and that's the easiest thing.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: If you want a chat, I'm in my DMs.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: I've been posting as much as I usually do, but I will answer a DM in two seconds.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: So this is one of my website and email me, but I probably won't get back to you.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_02]: Someone from my team make it back.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe maybe I'll have Rupert my cat get back.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I will tell you how I got out of my inbox and I am loving it.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_03]: Now I have to actually, my sister's like, you do have to go and respond to the five that I couldn't.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_03]: But I put it as like, okay.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_03]: You have truly given us so much, but you know, it wouldn't even be until you see a podcast without the old executable intrinsic or targeted steps people can take to be it till they see it.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_03]: What do you have for us?
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to circle back because repetition is key.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: Once is never.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say what I said before.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: Just do it scared.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: The confidence, the happiness, the understanding, the clarity that you are looking for, the guidance, the direction, the answer.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: Is that you're looking for or on the other side of doing the thing.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_02]: So do it scared.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, we friendly believe in that.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_03]: We coastline on that and when you do it scared, make sure you let the movement mice throw no.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_03]: And let the impod know because then we can celebrate you because guess what, celebration is how habits are created.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's how the dopamine hits the brain.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's all science people.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: All right, loves.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: Until next time, be it until you see it.
