• 1:04
Speaker 1: What does that look like for the common mom who's listening?
• 1:06
Speaker 1: Okay, how do I radically disciple my yeah?
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: So you?
• 1:10
Speaker 2: have daily devotions with your kids.
• 1:11
Speaker 2: You have daily devotions of training with your family.
• 1:15
Speaker 2: You read books together on the subject, you listen to podcasts, you watch sermons from godly leaders.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: You have to be radically and in a proactive sense, hyper-proactive in that, but if you're there and that's happened well, hyper proactive, you know, in that and so.
• 1:29
Speaker 2: But if you're there and that's happened well, then again, that's a, that's a teaching moment with your child, and you tell them why.
• 1:34
Speaker 2: You take them to the root.
• 1:36
Speaker 2: Why is this wrong?
• 1:37
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about the broad way?
• 1:39
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about a way that seems right?
• 1:41
  Speaker 2: I know, man.
• 1:42
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about the philosophies of the world that will deceive us and destroy us?
• 1:46
Speaker 2: And you do it in love.
• 1:47
Speaker 2: I love what you said, mark.
• 1:48
Speaker 2: Not acting shocked, that's an imprint on your child's mind right away, like, oh, this is bad, I shouldn't have brought it up.
• 2:01
Speaker 2: Oh well, tell me about it.
• 2:03
Speaker 2: What did you hear?
• 2:04
Speaker 2: What do you think about it?
• 2:04
Speaker 2: Probe into their hearts.
• 2:05
Speaker 2: How do you sum up misery, bleakness, heartbreak, torture, torment and the despairing of life itself in two words Amil's.
• 2:17
  Speaker 3: Wayne Living Waters.
• 2:19
  Speaker 4: Amil's Wayne.
• 2:20
  Speaker 2: Jury.
• 2:20
Speaker 2: Duty I've told you how to get out of it.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: Can I quote you yeah?
• 2:28
Speaker 4: Because I have it here.
• 2:28
  Speaker 2: So I commiserated.
• 2:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, and can I quote you?
• 2:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, because I have it here.
• 2:29
  Speaker 2: So I commiserated.
• 2:31
Speaker 2: I tried to commiserate with my friends, like you know, hey guys, or commiserate with me.
• 2:34
Speaker 2: Rather, you know I have jury duty.
• 2:36
Speaker 2: You think like, oh sorry brother, oh, my heart is broken.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: Ray actually showed a bit of that but then tried to lead me into destruction and folly.
• 2:45
  Speaker 2: That's sad, that's nice.
• 2:47
Speaker 2: It's always nice when someone says that's sad.
• 2:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, if you want to get out of it, do what I do.
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Tell them you're 74 and you fall asleep all the time for no reason.
• 2:59
Speaker 2: It'll be a mistrial and they'll have to start again because one jerk keeps falling asleep.
• 3:05
Speaker 2: And at the end it worked.
• 3:08
Speaker 4: It did it worked.
• 3:08
Speaker 4: It did it worked, it works every year better.
• 3:12
Speaker 2: Right, okay, but do you say this to them or do you send this in and write it?
• 3:15
Speaker 3: He just falls asleep.
• 3:17
  Speaker 2: That's it.
• 3:17
Speaker 2: Just send him a snoring track.
• 3:20
Speaker 2: Did you say something?
• 3:20
Speaker 2: You did the Yarn East track.
• 3:21
Speaker 4: No, you have to fill out a form and on that form I just wrote exactly that you want to mistrial.
• 3:25
  Speaker 4: I'm 74.
• 3:26
Speaker 4: I fall asleep during Leave it to Beaver, which I really enjoy, but I fall asleep.
• 3:35
Speaker 2: Isn't that time you asked for a salad bar?
• 3:37
  Speaker 2: A what, yeah, a sidebar.
• 3:38
Speaker 4: But Ray asked for a salad bar.
• 3:39
  Speaker 4: Oh, that's right.
• 3:40
Speaker 2: Can I have a salad bar Yana?
• 3:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd like a salad bar.
• 3:41
Speaker 4: please Wait what happened that time with I said I'd like a sidebar please, so the bailiff comes over, takes me out of the judge.
• 3:49
Speaker 4: And I said the guy's covetous, I wouldn't give him a barrel of beans.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: And they said you're out of here Because they told us what the trial was going to be about.
• 3:57
Speaker 4: And it was just a greedy guy who wanted to sue someone.
• 4:00
  Speaker 4: So I said, no, I'm a Christian, he's covetous.
• 4:02
Speaker 2: I wouldn't, was he upset, judge or say anything.
• 4:04
Speaker 2: Just out of here, get out of here.
• 4:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, because I was biased.
• 4:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I need to try something.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: You do think they would be a little nicer though.
• 4:12
  Speaker 4: No, no Easy.
• 4:12
Speaker 4: Tell them you're an Arab.
• 4:14
Speaker 2: Don't even go there, mark, I get so mad at you, just say I'm an Arab and I'm a fundamentalist Bible.
• 4:18
  Speaker 2: I'm a Bible-believing Arab.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: That'll do it, just the metal detector continually.
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: It's really annoying.
• 4:31
  Speaker 4: The whole process.
• 4:32
  Speaker 4: It's really slow, time-consuming.
• 4:34
Speaker 4: They say call back tomorrow, we're okay today, Try tomorrow.
• 4:37
Speaker 2: I try to have a good attitude.
• 4:38
Speaker 2: I try to say, hey, we're blessed to live here in this country.
• 4:40
Speaker 2: You know, this is our civil duty.
• 4:41
Speaker 2: Nope, doesn't work on me.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: I try to counsel myself.
• 4:45
Speaker 3: I can see Easy the Arab in there looking at the wall going how much C4 to take this thing down, oh man.
• 4:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, it is what it is, but no, we are really blessed, I mean seriously in this country.
• 4:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, it is what it is.
• 5:00
Speaker 2: It's going to be what it's going to be.
• 5:01
Speaker 2: Can't you see For all eternity?
• 5:03
Speaker 2: That would be a good rap.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: You guys need to be bigger fans of my rap.
• 5:08
  Speaker 3: Oscar.
• 5:09
Speaker 2: What's that sweatshirt say Oscar King's Kaleidoscope?
• 5:11
Speaker 2: It's a band, is it okay?
• 5:14
Speaker 2: No, oh, I'm sorry, I don't like it.
• 5:17
Speaker 2: Anyways, pray for me because I have to call in here for jury duty tomorrow to see.
• 5:23
Speaker 2: I hope you're able to do it.
• 5:24
Speaker 2: I've done it twice.
• 5:25
Speaker 2: It's actually quite the experience.
• 5:26
Speaker 1: Look to be honest with you.
• 5:27
Speaker 2: Part of me wants to do it.
• 5:28
Speaker 2: It's the conflict of time and important stuff I have to do.
• 5:32
Speaker 4: If it's a murder trial, which probably will be in LA, you're going to be two weeks.
• 5:36
Speaker 4: No, yeah, it'll be two weeks.
• 5:37
Speaker 4: Every day you've got to be there.
• 5:42
Speaker 2: I'm speaking engagements and you're not allowed to tell anyone about.
• 5:44
Speaker 2: You did one in Compton Ray.
• 5:46
Speaker 4: I thought you do it in your county.
• 5:48
Speaker 4: No, I got out of the Compton one.
• 5:49
Speaker 4: No, but you did an interview there.
• 5:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, I got great interviews at Compton.
• 5:53
Speaker 2: It's worth it for the interviews.
• 5:54
Speaker 2: Okay, I'm going to have them send you more summons.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: The Lord heard that, Ray.
• 5:59
Speaker 3: He did an interview with a defendant.
• 6:01
Speaker 3: Have you ever committed murder?
• 6:04
Speaker 1: Ray would like to cross-examine.
• 6:05
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it.
• 6:05
Speaker 2: Ray would like to cross-examine.
• 6:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, All right, friends, it's time for a cool, classy comment.
• 6:10
Speaker 2: This is from Melissa P.
• 6:12
Speaker 2: Hello friends, I was scrolling through Instagram not redeeming my time well, and was suddenly watching a video of a man with a paint roller painting the wire of his chicken coop black.
• 6:26
Speaker 2: It made it appear as if the wire wasn't there.
• 6:28
Speaker 2: I immediately thought of Ray and thought I would share.
• 6:31
Speaker 2: I don't have chickens, but I do have five kids.
• 6:34
Speaker 2: It's kind of like herding chickens.
• 6:39
Speaker 4: Ray, that's a good idea it is.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: I was pulling a piece of wire off my chicken coop that was stapled in and I heard ping.
• 6:45
Speaker 4: And I heard Sue scream on the other side of the grass.
• 6:48
Speaker 4: I hit her in the forehead with a staple.
• 6:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, it was David and Goliath again.
• 6:52
Speaker 4: I mean it left an impression on her mind, but she fucked her eye out with that right.
• 6:57
Speaker 2: What have you thought of doing that Painting the wire?
• 7:00
  Speaker 4: black.
• 7:00
Speaker 2: No, but that sounds really good.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's frowned upon to cage them in, so this hack must be for you.
• 7:09
Speaker 2: Thanks for everything you do.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: I've listened to every podcast episode and I'm eternally grateful for your wisdom, humor and faithfulness and for keeping this working mama slightly more sane while I endure the elements.
• 7:20
  Speaker 2: Postal worker.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: May God continue to bless you all.
• 7:23
  Speaker 4: She's a postal worker.
• 7:24
Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got empathy for postal workers walking around the streets in the heat of California.
• 7:29
Speaker 4: They do stay fit.
• 7:29
Speaker 4: Oscar, what do you keep messing?
• 7:30
  Speaker 2: around with.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: I was trying to figure out my volume.
• 7:32
Speaker 3: For some reason You're not muted.
• 7:35
Speaker 2: Melissa, thank you and God bless you.
• 7:38
Speaker 2: Thanks for your faithfulness to the Lord, for working hard to take care of your family and for listening to the podcast.
• 7:46
Speaker 1: You know, I was at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: I've been outside of it so wanted to go in, but we couldn't get in there.
• 7:54
Speaker 2: They wouldn't let you.
• 7:54
Speaker 2: No, no, ed upside.
• 7:56
Speaker 1: I was surprised to meet so many people that listened to our podcast.
• 8:01
Speaker 1: Seriously, yeah, I was shocked, it was surreal.
• 8:03
Speaker 1: Wow so, members of the church.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: Members of the church are real.
• 8:04
Speaker 2: It was so neat.
• 8:05
Speaker 2: Wow so members of the church.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: Members of the church.
• 8:06
Speaker 1: So I walked in, I sat down next to a gentleman and he goes I know you and I go, my name's Mark.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: He goes, I know he's like you're with Living Waters and I went oh hey, good to meet you because I love the podcast.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: And then after that he led me into the bookstore and then people were coming up wanting to talk about the podcast.
• 8:23
Speaker 1: No, I just went to one of their services.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: Isn't that crazy, the thought that Ray was impacted by Spurgeon and now you're known by people in Spurgeon's church?
• 8:38
Speaker 3: Do you think he'd listen to an episode and be like this is what my church is listening to.
• 8:41
Speaker 3: This is what I influenced.
• 8:44
Speaker 4: No, what have I done?
• 8:47
Speaker 2: Well, look, I gotta give a shout out.
• 8:48
Speaker 2: This is where it went to.
• 8:48
Speaker 2: Well, look, I got to give a shout out.
• 8:49
Speaker 2: This is a unique one, but I was at church at Kindred on Sunday and I was on my way to go to talk to Tim Challies because he was visiting, and a young lady said hey, I love your podcast.
• 9:01
Speaker 2: Thank you so much, I go.
• 9:03
Speaker 2: Oh, thank you, she was kind of walking out.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: I'm walking toward the front and she goes it's changed my life.
• 9:10
Speaker 1: Was she referring to Tim Chelley's podcast?
• 9:11
  Speaker 1: Can you imagine?
• 9:11
Speaker 2: That's what it was, and I didn't get a chance to talk to her.
• 9:14
Speaker 2: So, sister, if you're listening and that's you, come up to me at church again.
• 9:17
Speaker 2: I'd love to just hear more about how the podcast has impacted your life and to Rachel.
• 9:24
Speaker 2: I love you, husband podcast, and now a radically revolutionary resource.
• 9:30
Speaker 2: This podcast is brought to you by Living Waters TV.
• 9:35
Speaker 3: Oh, hey, come on.

Speaker 2: And it is live friends, Very live.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: And Oscar, tell the people some of the stuff they get.
• 9:44
Speaker 2: Oscar has been very intimately involved with this process.
• 9:48
Speaker 2: I was asleep through most of it.
• 9:50
Speaker 3: But what I remember now listen.
• 9:52
Speaker 3: One of the things that we hear often is where can I watch Way of the Master, when can I listen or see the podcast?
• 9:59
Speaker 3: Where this, where that?
• 10:00
Speaker 3: And for the last couple of years it's been really weird to answer that question because it's like, well, go to this channel for season nine, go to this channel for season nine, go to that channel for season eight.
• 10:14
Speaker 3: I think you can stream season five on this streaming service.
• 10:16
Speaker 3: It's just, all of our stuff was everywhere and so, for the first time ever, you can see everything we've ever done, some exclusive content where you can only see it all in one place and that's livingwaterstv.
• 10:27
Speaker 3: It is our own streaming service and you can get every episode of Way of the Master, from season one on.
• 10:34
Speaker 3: You get every video version of this podcast, which I think people are going to be really excited about.
• 10:40
Speaker 3: For those of you, we've talked to people who have listened to all 300 episodes of this podcast.
• 10:44
  Speaker 4: From the beginning.
• 10:45
Speaker 4: We didn't film From the beginning.
• 10:46
Speaker 3: We didn't film from the beginning, that's true.
• 10:48
Speaker 3: But once we started filming which I think was right around episode 200, you'll be able to see all of those episodes, so you can see the ridiculousness along with hearing the ridiculousness.
• 10:57
Speaker 3: We have a kids' corner.
• 10:58
Speaker 3: We've got sermons that you guys have done.
• 11:13
Speaker 1: I mean maybe Mark, because that's sort of your brainchild you can explain what Living Waters Equip is?
• 11:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was going to say you mentioned the kids' corner.
• 11:18
Speaker 2: Though we have podcast hosts the size of kids, nobody in particular Hosts Not even smiling Sangular Sangular Mark.
• 11:21
Speaker 1: So Living Waters Equip is amazing, right, it's the idea of bringing in the top pastors, theologians, philosophers, apologists, people that can answer, from a Christian worldview, questions that you get out on the street.
• 11:32
Speaker 1: You know, how can you trust the Bible and not the Bhagavad Gita, right?
• 11:35
Speaker 1: Or anything else that you possibly think of concerning multiple different worldviews.
• 11:39
Speaker 1: And we're always adding.
• 11:40
Speaker 1: I don't know how many videos we're adding continually every month, but we are adding continual videos every month from these top people.
• 11:48
Speaker 1: I'm not sure, not on Living Waters TV yet, but we've recorded up to 900.
• 11:56
Speaker 2: Those will be dripping regularly.
• 11:58
Speaker 1: We'll be adding those.

• 12:51

• 13:19
Speaker 3: Hey man, canada Boxing Day doesn't get enough credit.
• 13:21
Speaker 2: I want to legally remove that holiday.
• 13:23
  Speaker 2: Just kidding.
• 13:24
Speaker 2: Oh no, canadians are going to write in.
• 13:25
  Speaker 2: Please don't.
• 13:26
Speaker 4: I love Boxing Day.
• 13:27
Speaker 4: New Zealand and Australia have Boxing Day.
• 13:29
Speaker 4: It's nothing to do with boxing.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: It should become a boxing holiday.
• 13:32
Speaker 4: It was to do with South Africa, a war with boxers years ago.
• 13:36
Speaker 2: Same thing With boxers, same thing as boxing I'm here for you All right friends, Today we're talking about how to talk to kids about LGBTQ issues.
• 13:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, fitting right and sad at the same time that it's necessary to talk about a topic like this.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, it wasn't something that we talked about 34 years ago or 33.
• 14:00
Speaker 1: It is something that why 33?
• 14:04
  Speaker 4: Or 32 and a half, that's better 31.
• 14:06
  Speaker 2: What about 31?
• 14:07
  Speaker 2: Flavors Perhaps?
• 14:09
  Speaker 4: 30?
• 14:09
  Speaker 4: .
• 14:09
Speaker 4: It's such a dilemma, though, because you look at Scripture.
• 14:11
Speaker 4: It says the things the ungodly do are shameful, and you don't even talk about them, and then it says to expose them.
• 14:18
Speaker 4: So I was thrown into a dilemma years ago when I did a Living Waters paper on the subject of homosexuality, and I didn't know how explicit to be sexuality and I didn't know how explicit to be.
• 14:27
Speaker 2: So it was a dilemma.
• 14:28
  Speaker 2: It still is.
• 14:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, it is, and I think the content of our discussion has changed right In that.
• 14:35
Speaker 2: Back in the day, if we were to talk to our kids about this, say 30 years ago, 40 years ago, whatever, 33 and a half or you know something like that what about 30 years, or one or two Do?
• 14:49
Speaker 2: I have to do this podcast.
• 14:53
Speaker 2: You know it would have taken a different direction in that you're basically just saying, yeah, you know that there's some deviant lifestyles that are out there today, and would your kids even ever encounter someone who's involved in that or not?
• 15:06
  Speaker 2: But it's everywhere.
• 15:07
Speaker 2: Now you know it's.
• 15:07
Speaker 2: It's not just everywhere, but it's everywhere.
• 15:08
Speaker 2: Now it's not just everywhere, but it's these things of kids dealing with pronouns and calling their friend Joey They've known all their life Josephine now or whatever.
• 15:18
Speaker 2: So it's taken a different tone.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: So I want to start with a question.
• 15:22
Speaker 2: Mark, I'll start with you.
• 15:24
Speaker 2: What age would you say is appropriate to broach this subject with our kids?
• 15:29
Speaker 2: Do we wait for them to ask?
• 15:31
Speaker 2: Do we go to them?
• 15:32
  Speaker 2: What do you?
• 15:34
  Speaker 1: think 33.268.
• 15:37
Speaker 1: I would never wait for my kids to try to ask things of this nature because I think it's a little too late.
• 15:44
Speaker 1: Right, you have to ask the question.
• 15:46
Speaker 1: Well, when is the world trying to teach our kids these issues?
• 15:50
Speaker 1: And we see parents go to sessions in front of the superintendents, school intendents reading books that are found inside the library that are super explicit, meaning that our kids are being targeted as young as kindergarten, and that's crazy, right?
• 16:07
Speaker 1: So my wife and I, we decided to not put our kids in public school.
• 16:11
Speaker 1: Not all parents are able to do that, but we chose to do that, and you did as well.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: Right, that we wanted to be a little bit more wise and let them kind of grow up a little bit before we broach this sort of subject.
• 16:25
Speaker 1: And you're able to do that when you homeschool.
• 16:27
Speaker 1: But I remember when my next door neighbor taught my kids the F word, my kids came in and said dad, what does this mean?
• 16:34
  Speaker 1: And I go.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: Well, where did you learn that?
• 16:37
Speaker 1: And the point was to not act shocked, right, it's kind of like when you taught your kids all about sex, right, you had mentioned that.
• 16:45
Speaker 1: You said you sat them down and you were treating it as if it was a very beautiful thing.
• 16:49
  Speaker 1: Why?
• 16:49
Speaker 1: Because it is a very beautiful thing and so we don't want to act shocked when our kids broach us on this topic.
• 16:56
Speaker 1: So we want to broach the topic, and the way I'm going to talk to my kindergarten is going to be different than the way I talk to my eighth grader or ninth grader.
• 17:04
Speaker 1: Yeah Right, but I want to do it very young because they're going to see it in public, especially in California.
• 17:08
Speaker 1: People are holding hands all over the place, even kissing in public, and it's shameful the things that are done.
• 17:14
Speaker 1: So when I see it, everything's a teaching moment from the rising up and the sitting down.
• 17:17
Speaker 2: So beat the world to the punch.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: Yes In other words, right, Like I've talked about before, like those empty warehouse a great analogy that's been given by others that we want to stalk them first before the world has a chance.
• 17:28
Speaker 1: You know it's funny that you brought that up, because my son Ethan said let me guess the angle by which easy is going to talk about the subject.
• 17:35
Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I hope you kind of expand on that a little bit more yeah.
• 17:41
Speaker 2: So I remember reading this somewhere and it just really registered with me.
• 17:45
Speaker 2: It's like our kids' brains are like empty warehouses filled with empty shelves, and as they're growing, those shelves are going to get stocked.
• 17:54
Speaker 2: They're stocked by information, and either the world is going to beat us to it and stock those shelves or we're going to beat the world to it, and really the kicker is, whoever gets there first and stocks those shelves is going to make it harder for the other person to come, unstock and restock, and so we want to beat the world to it.
• 18:13
Speaker 2: I love that, mark.
• 18:14
Speaker 2: Let's be the ones that bring it up to our kids and say hey, we want to talk to you about something important.
• 18:19
Speaker 2: Here's what it is that's going to make an imprint on their heart and mind.
• 18:22
Speaker 2: They're going to have received that information in the right way rather than in the wrong way, as it's tainted and twisted by the world.
• 18:29
Speaker 4: And you can do it through Scripture Sodom and Gomorrah, romans 1, other places 1.
• 18:33
  Speaker 4: Corinthians 6 to 10.
• 18:36
  Speaker 2: That's good so.
• 18:39
Speaker 4: Ray, I'm going to state the obvious.
• 18:40
  Speaker 4: It's going to be in 10, 6 to 10.
• 18:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to state the obvious You're much older than all of us here at the table.
• 18:46
Speaker 4: And shorter and uglier and dumber.
• 18:49
Speaker 2: Wait, let me keep going, Go ahead, keep going, continue, go ahead, that's all.
• 18:53
Speaker 2: That's all you've got 101 reasons Just from today.
• 18:56
Speaker 1: You're so proud, why do you stop there?
• 18:59
Speaker 2: So, Ray, back when my beautiful wife Rachel, Jacob and Daniel were all growing up, was it necessary to talk about this?
• 19:05
Speaker 2: Or did you talk to them about it?
• 19:06
  Speaker 2: No, absolutely not.
• 19:06
Speaker 4: I didn't need to because it wasn't an issue.
• 19:08
Speaker 4: Let me share something with you.
• 19:09
Speaker 4: The first movie I made was in 1972.
• 19:12
Speaker 4: It was a surf movie called A Place of Our Own.
• 19:14
Speaker 4: The second movie was a movie called my Friends Are.
• 19:17
  Speaker 2: Dying.
• 19:17
Speaker 2: I thought my Friends Are Dying was the first.
• 19:19
Speaker 2: I wanted to see the first surf movie when is it Ray?
• 19:22
Speaker 4: I sold it to a guy, the surf movie.
• 19:26
Speaker 2: A Place of Our Own, sold it to someone.
• 19:27
Speaker 2: Where's the copy of it?
• 19:28
  Speaker 2: I tossed it.
• 19:28
Speaker 2: Where's the copy of my Friends Are Dying?
• 19:30
  Speaker 2: I tossed that.
• 19:31
  Speaker 4: Who does this?
• 19:31
Speaker 4: It had a man-centered gospel and it was horribly embarrassing.
• 19:36
Speaker 4: We could have edited it and used the footage now the.
• 19:38
  Speaker 3: Razzie.
• 19:38
Speaker 1: Awards has it on their whole thing Side note.
• 19:40
Speaker 3: I just talked to somebody from New Zealand.
• 19:42
Speaker 3: I did their podcast.
• 19:44
Speaker 3: It was really fun and he was going on about how influential the Living Waters podcast has been in New Zealand.
• 19:52
Speaker 3: He feels like every Christian he talks to has heard it, listened to it, loves it.
• 19:57
Speaker 3: He went on and on.
• 19:58
Speaker 3: So if you're in New Zealand and you're listening to this and somehow some way you can get a hold of those two old movies, can you email us, send them to us?
• 20:05
Speaker 3: Do what you can, because I would love to see, yeah, my Friends Are Dying.
• 20:08
Speaker 4: had lots of copies made in 16mm.
• 20:11
Speaker 2: You don't have any copies of that now, or any None at all.
• 20:14
  Speaker 2: Tossed it.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: Okay, before I get angry, keep going.
• 20:17
Speaker 4: You are angry, so anyway, I just got a rave here about how great it is to edit on iMovie, because what we would do we'd make an edit in Christchurch, new Zealand.
• 20:26
Speaker 4: We'd say we need to change that.
• 20:28
Speaker 4: We would send it to Australia to do the edit and they'd get it back to us within two weeks.
• 20:34
Speaker 4: Even a minor edit that's how long, and I'd take five seconds to do it.
• 20:37
Speaker 4: Now, that's how long and I take five seconds to do it.
• 20:39
  Speaker 4: Now, that's crazy.
• 20:39
Speaker 4: So anyway, I had to do some recording for the movie.
• 20:41
Speaker 4: I went to a secular radio station I've told this before, but I was reading this morning, if I remember rightly, that we forget 80% of what we hear, or was it 70%?
• 20:49
Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever, something like that.
• 20:52
Speaker 4: So you've lost 80% because I've mentioned this before.
• 20:56
Speaker 4: Went to a non-Christian radio station called Radio Avon, spent an hour in a recording studio with a sweet young lady, long blonde hair, wearing jeans.
• 21:03
Speaker 4: She was really nice.
• 21:04
Speaker 4: Her name was Lee.
• 21:05
Speaker 4: What are you smiling at?
• 21:06
Speaker 3: Why was that necessary it?
• 21:08
  Speaker 4: is necessary.
• 21:08
Speaker 3: You'll hear about it in a moment.
• 21:10
  Speaker 3: He's hit.
• 21:10
Speaker 3: That era Just be patient.
• 21:12
Speaker 4: I wasn't chasing around the studio, it was something that's important to mention, so stop heckling.
• 21:18
Speaker 4: So anyway, two weeks later, someone came up to me when I was in the square and they said Lee has become a Christian.
• 21:23
Speaker 4: And I said, oh, how great for her.
• 21:25
Speaker 4: And they said not her, him, and it was a transsexual that I'd been in a studio for an hour and didn't know.
• 21:32
Speaker 4: Back then, ray, back then this was like when was it?
• 21:35
  Speaker 4: 82, 81.
• 21:37
  Speaker 4: No, 80.
• 21:37
  Speaker 4: 33.
• 21:44
  Speaker 4: What month?
• 21:44
  Speaker 4: 32.
• 21:45
Speaker 4: Anyway, my dilemma was I thought wow, when I see Lee again, how am I going to react?
• 21:46
Speaker 4: Do I go oh, it's really nice, you've become a Christian and shake you?
• 21:49
Speaker 4: know like shake a woman's hand or what, I just didn't know how to handle it.
• 21:52
Speaker 4: About two weeks later I was in church, looked across.
• 21:54
Speaker 4: I thought that face looks familiar.
• 21:56
Speaker 4: Suddenly, after service, this guy comes bounding across.
• 22:00
Speaker 4: He's got a beard, part beard, and he says it's me, Lee, and he gave me a beard, which broke my back.
• 22:07
Speaker 4: And I thought, wow, God took the effeminate, unclean spirit and gave him a right spirit.
• 22:14
Speaker 4: And that's what happens and we're going to remember.
• 22:16
Speaker 4: The whole thing we're dealing with is spiritual, the whole effeminate thing.
• 22:20
Speaker 4: When someone becomes a Christian, they're born again.
• 22:22
Speaker 4: It's not just turning over a leaf, it's a brand-new tree and that's what happens Totally.
• 22:28
Speaker 2: And the thing is that kids today are becoming desensitized because they're seeing it everywhere.
• 22:32
Speaker 2: They're also gaining this outlook of what's wrong with it.
• 22:36
Speaker 2: Right, because there's that peer pressure that's there Like, hey, we're not supposed to say anything.
• 22:41
Speaker 2: That's contrary to this.
• 22:43
Speaker 2: Oscar, how do we and I'm sure you have other things to say as well, but I'd love you to answer this question how do we teach our kids about this but continue to nurture in them a compassion for those in that realm?
• 22:56
Speaker 2: Because the thing is is that it's easy to overlook, like there are things where I've thought oh, I covered all my bases.
• 23:04
Speaker 2: Then later on I'm like oh, I forgot to say this.
• 23:05
Speaker 2: We don't want to just sit down and tell our kids, hey, this is wrong and you know.
• 23:07
Speaker 2: We need to understand this and then walk away and not remind them of what our heart needs to be as Christians.
• 23:11
  Speaker 2: That's really good.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: Yeah, To summarize what you guys said earlier and then I'll I love I think it's important which we cannot.
• 23:17
Speaker 3: The answer to this question cannot be that we just stay silent, Because if we stay silent, it's almost like telling our kids unintentionally, God doesn't care about your sexuality, and if we stay silent, what ends up happening is the lie falls into their hearts, which is you get to follow your own heart.
• 23:34
Speaker 3: The gospel is just a ticket out of hell and that God doesn't care about your holiness or your righteousness, and so staying silent about these issues because we're uncomfortable is just it's not helpful.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: Another potential issue is that kids can conclude and this is kind of where you get out with the beauty of sex If we don't talk about these things, kids can come to the conclusion that sexuality is something shameful to talk about, that God wants nothing to do with it, that it's a dirty conversation, or that God's not interested in saving their current or future LGBTQ friends.
• 24:12
Speaker 3: Now, to answer your question and to put context, because I'm excited that we're talking about this, I think maybe this is one of the ones I sent you.
• 24:21
Speaker 3: We live in a very diverse community.
• 24:24
Speaker 3: Like you, drive down our street and you're gonna see front houses where the front is just decorated like a Trump shrine.
• 24:33
Speaker 3: And then you go a little bit further and we've got people whose houses are decorated as LGBTQ signs, with signs everywhere and shrines everywhere, and so we live in a very diverse community.
• 24:45
Speaker 3: Our kids at a young age were like hey, I don't want to use real names here, but, just as an example, Tim wants to be called Tabitha now, and so thankfully, we did have those conversation early.
• 24:57
Speaker 3: To get to your point, one of the other problems that we want to avoid is, as we're talking about it, we don't want to have this us versus them mentality.
• 25:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I love this idea.
• 25:12
Speaker 3: I was talking to Tani the other day and this, this thought came up, which is like the moment I put a person outside of the bonds of grace, I myself become in danger of not understanding grace and so the lie unintentionally.
• 25:27
Speaker 3: When it's this us versus them mentality which is the air, you know we as Christians, we have conservative friends, we live in conservative circles, but the disposition of conservatism is us versus them, and it can potentially send a false signal that LGBTQ people are uniquely hostile to God and our enemies, who need to be shunned and shamed rather than loved.
• 25:55
Speaker 3: That cannot be our response in this situation.
• 25:59
Speaker 3: The reality is all of our non-Christian neighbors who don't follow Jesus every single one of them gay, straight or otherwise are trapped in ideologies that promise them freedom but are delivering them into our curse, and they are, like us, image bearers of God who, like we were, are enslaved to sin.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: And the reality is that before I was saved, I thought sexual desires were something that just be enjoyed and followed.
• 26:32
Speaker 3: It's important for our kids to recognize that our LGBT neighbors are in equal need of salvation as our heterosexual, non-believing neighbors Every single one of them.
• 26:44
Speaker 3: I love what Rachel Gibson says in her book Parenting Without Panic.
• 26:47
Speaker 3: She says, apart from Christ, our happily married heterosexual neighbors are just as lost as those in our community who live under a rainbow flag, and so the goal here is to remind our kids about the hope of the gospel, that our LGBTQ neighbors are image bearers who we want to love and serve and speak grace and truth to Come on Good stuff, oscar, that is really good, Easy.
• 27:19
Speaker 1: What do you do?
• 27:19
Speaker 1: Because I've heard this actual scenario be real.
• 27:22
Speaker 1: What do you do with the person who says hey, mom, I was in class today and we're talking about sexuality and the teacher had said, in order to determine whether or not you're heterosexual or homosexual, is you need to experiment.
• 27:41
Speaker 1: These are junior high, these are high school age, and that is now the litmus test.
• 27:47
Speaker 1: To determine whether or not you're gay, you have to actually get together with someone to determine.
• 27:52
Speaker 1: No, that's not for me.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: How would you address that parent or that child that came to you with that question?
• 27:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, let me start by saying something very soberly and respectfully and I hesitate to say it, but I'm compelled to say it because of love.
• 28:09
Speaker 2: That becomes an issue because of something that is a reality, and that is that a child is in a context where they're going to hear something like that, and I do firmly believe that this is a convictional issue in terms of you know where we send our kids and what they do.
• 28:28
Speaker 2: But I do think that now more than ever, when we were growing up, going to school, math, reading and writing right like, and playing hopscotch basically that's changed.
• 28:40
Speaker 2: So parents need to just think look, if you can find a way to have your children in that context, and you can, from the sincerity of your heart, say you know what we believe the Lord's led us to do this and we have found a way to navigate this with our kids and we've actually found it to be best for them and our family.
• 28:57
Speaker 2: Totally between you and the Lord.
• 28:59
Speaker 2: It's not a judgment issue, but I would say that those are rare instances from my experience.
• 29:04
Speaker 2: So I would say parents need to first ask themselves should we put our kids in this scenario and situation?
• 29:08
Speaker 2: If they're there, I'd say something else needs to be at work and that is constant daily discipleship with your children.
• 29:17
Speaker 2: And there are others that have done that and they said it's work.
• 29:19
Speaker 2: Praise the Lord, that's great.
• 29:21
Speaker 2: I would just say you have to consider are your kids gonna be strong enough against the onslaught and constant bombardment of the world's philosophies in these areas?
• 29:31
Speaker 4: And don't forget peer pressure.
• 29:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, and peer pressure, which is?
• 29:34
Speaker 2: huge, but I think discipleship in a radical way needs to be implemented.
• 29:39
Speaker 1: What does that look like for the common mom who's listening?
• 29:41
Speaker 1: Okay, how do I radically disciple my yeah?
• 29:45
  Speaker 1: So you?
• 29:45
Speaker 2: have daily devotions with your kids.
• 29:46
Speaker 2: You have daily times of training with your family.
• 29:50
Speaker 2: You read books together on the subject, you listen to podcasts, you watch sermons from godly leaders.
• 29:56
Speaker 2: You have to be radically in a proactive sense, hyper proactive in that.
• 30:04
Speaker 2: But if you're there and that's happened, well, then again, that's a teaching moment with your child and you tell them why.
• 30:10
Speaker 2: You take them to the root.
• 30:11
Speaker 2: Why is this wrong?
• 30:12
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about the broad way?
• 30:15
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about a way that seems right unto a man?
• 30:17
Speaker 2: What does scripture say about the philosophies of the world that will deceive us and destroy us?
• 30:21
Speaker 2: And you do it in love.
• 30:22
Speaker 2: I love what you said, mark.
• 30:24
Speaker 2: Not acting shocked, that's an imprint on your child's mind right away, like, oh, this is bad, I shouldn't have brought it up.
• 30:31
Speaker 2: Oh well, tell me about it.
• 30:32
Speaker 2: What did you hear?
• 30:33
Speaker 2: What do you think about it?
• 30:35
Speaker 2: Probe into their hearts.
• 30:36
Speaker 2: But, ray, the shock factor.
• 30:39
Speaker 2: So what do you do when it comes to instructing your children on Dad?
• 30:46
Speaker 2: My friend says he's gay now, or my friend says she's a lesbian now.
• 30:51
Speaker 2: How would you encourage your Christian child now?
• 30:53
Speaker 2: They're a teenager, because this applies from young to older.
• 30:56
Speaker 2: Within the childhood life, what do you say to them?
• 31:02
  Speaker 4: You played hopscotch.
• 31:03
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know hopscotch.
• 31:05
Speaker 4: I was just talking about it with Sue last night.
• 31:07
  Speaker 4: Foursquare and hopscotch.
• 31:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, we were talking about it last night, sue and I used to play hopscotch as kids.
• 31:11
Speaker 4: Tetherball, do you know what hopscotch is?
• 31:12
Speaker 3: Of course, I do yeah, it's where you hop over.
• 31:16
  Speaker 4: Scot over Scotch.
• 31:16
Speaker 4: Scotch Glasses of scotch.
• 31:18
Speaker 2: It's a drinking game for kids.
• 31:20
Speaker 4: Yeah you said something before Easy that I thought was very relevant, which is kind of unusual.
• 31:27
Speaker 4: You said people ask what is wrong with it and it's because we've got an entire generation that have been brainwashed to think they're nothing but primates with no rhyme, no reason, no purpose, and we've got to bring it back and you teach your kids that God exists, that we're ultimately responsible to him, and it's so important to instill that God has appointed a day in which he'll judge the world in righteousness, that it's not just the Ten Commandments that are standard.
• 31:52
Speaker 4: That's the standard you're going to be judged by, because law without consequence is nothing but good advice.
• 31:57
Speaker 4: A wise man once said the Ten Commandments are a good idea.
• 32:00
  Speaker 4: Good idea.
• 32:01
Speaker 4: Good advice Don't steal, don't lie, don't commit adultery, et cetera.
• 32:04
Speaker 4: That's how you have a great society.
• 32:05
Speaker 4: But law without consequence is nothing but good advice.
• 32:08
Speaker 4: There's going to be a day of judgment.
• 32:11
Speaker 4: So everything you think, everything you do, everything you say is seen by God and he's going to hold you accountable.
• 32:16
Speaker 4: And if you can instill the fear of God in your own children and when you witness to people, do the same thing that will bring them out of that darkness into the light.
• 32:25
Speaker 3: Man, it's so good, I think.
• 32:26
Speaker 3: What you reminded me of here, too, is.
• 32:29
Speaker 3: Thanks, mark, for distracting me.
• 32:30
Speaker 3: What you remind me, too, is that, ultimately, the story of grace, what the Bible is, is not just a moral standard.
• 32:40
Speaker 3: What it actually is is the story of God reconciling the world to himself, and what we need to do as parents is tell a beautiful, better story.
• 32:52
Speaker 3: Again, marriage is not just meant to be this political tool or this moral standard for the way of living.
• 32:59
Speaker 3: Marriage is this typology, it's the shadow.
• 33:03
Speaker 3: It's meant to display the way in which God rescued his bride, which God sent his son, jesus, to rescue his bride.
• 33:14
Speaker 3: And so I think, as we parent, let's not just parent with standards of morality, let's parent with a beautiful, better story that has ethical implications.
• 33:26
Speaker 2: I just want to say this for a moment too.
• 33:28
  Speaker 2: It's so funny.
• 33:29
Speaker 2: You know how, when we talk about these issues, our minds automatically go to like the practicals of what you teach and what you say.
• 33:37
Speaker 2: And how, about how we live before our children to make for them this beautiful display of attraction for what godly marriage and design is.
• 33:48
Speaker 2: You know, I proactively and intentionally take every natural opportunity I can to display for my kids how much I love my wife, and I'll verbalize that Like the other day I just said to one of my kids.
• 34:00
Speaker 2: I said do you understand how amazing your mother is?
• 34:03
Speaker 2: Do you know how madly in love I am with her?
• 34:05
Speaker 2: We've married 28 and a half years and my love keeps growing for this woman.
• 34:09
Speaker 2: Same here, yeah, you do what?
• 34:11
Speaker 4: I love your daughter, I mean your wife, my daughter.
• 34:15
Speaker 2: But you know what I'm saying and I could see, as I like, joy emanating from my children's face that's conveying like truth and health to them and it's inspiring them Like.
• 34:27
Speaker 2: This is how life is designed to be.
• 34:29
  Speaker 2: I don't want to substitute.
• 34:31
Speaker 2: Why would I want to be with a man or a woman?
• 34:33
Speaker 2: This is how God designed it.
• 34:33
  Speaker 2: It's beautiful, it's wonderful.
• 34:35
Speaker 2: All those things have an imprint, especially when your kids are younger.
• 34:39
Speaker 2: You know, mark, what would you say would be good passages to like bring our kids on the topic, like to help educate them from what the word says about homosexuality.
• 34:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, before I touch that, I want to extract a little something that you'd shared there With the kids.
• 34:54
Speaker 1: We have a rule inside of our house which is to not normalize LGBTQ.
• 34:59
Speaker 1: So if we're watching a show, a movie of some sort, and there's a individual, there's a couple, and you find out that this couple is gay, we turn it off.
• 35:10
Speaker 1: We don't put up with it to try to get the rest of the plot.
• 35:12
Speaker 1: We don't put up with it to find out where it's going to head with the story.
• 35:15
  Speaker 1: No, it's off.
• 35:16
Speaker 1: We do not normalize this and this is what happens.
• 35:19
Speaker 1: It's these little itty bitty things that are going to begin to happen inside of our lives that we need to call out and we find ourselves watching less and less movies and shows because there is an agenda within Hollywood to try to bring these things our way.
• 35:32
Speaker 1: You know, back to your question what sort of scriptures?
• 35:34
Speaker 1: I think that there's a great scripture right from the beginning, which is you're creating the image of God.
• 35:39
Speaker 1: You know Alistair Begg.
• 35:40
Speaker 1: He had a really great quote.
• 35:42
Speaker 1: He said to disregard God's design is to disrespect the Creator Himself.
• 35:47
Speaker 1: So good, we do not want to disregard God and disrespect God at the same time.
• 35:56
Speaker 1: So we need to know God and His plan for our lives.
• 35:57
Speaker 1: And this is where you were saying that we are continually pouring into our kids and we're continually pouring into ourselves.
• 36:03
Speaker 1: And we pour into ourselves by being careful on what we watch and who we hang out with.
• 36:08
Speaker 1: Jeremiah 1.5, it says before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, so God knows us intimately.
• 36:15
Speaker 1: Of course, there's a lot of scriptures that we can go to when it comes to homosexuality, and Ray had mentioned one earlier with 1 Corinthians 6, verses 9 through 10.
• 36:22
Speaker 1: You know the Levitical law says that homosexuals were to be stoned to death.
• 36:26
Speaker 1: Right, we don't want to bring anything up like that to people because people look at us as radical, but this is God's word.
• 36:33
Speaker 1: This is how serious this is with the Lord RC Sproul.
• 36:38
Speaker 1: He said God doesn't make mistakes and his design for humanity is perfect, even when we don't understand it.
• 36:43
Speaker 1: So we can have a child that comes along and says, dad, I don't understand, because they seem so normal.
• 36:49
Speaker 1: Or you have someone that comes along and says, hey, it feels good, it feels right, I was born this way.
• 36:57
Speaker 1: I like the way somebody retorted back and said well, that's why you need to be born again.
• 37:01
Speaker 1: Right, the safest place to be is the center of God's will.
• 37:05
Speaker 1: Corrie Ten Boom said what is God's will, what is God's design?
• 37:09
Speaker 1: We find it within scripture, so we must always go back to it, regardless of how our feelings feel.
• 37:14
  Speaker 1: Amen.
• 37:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm really glad you pointed out the reality of content and media in the way in which we bring up our kids and something that I've said probably 150 podcasts ago and and I'll put it here because there's, it's a.
• 37:24
Speaker 3: It's a similar yet slightly different way of approaching those situations which, for me and my family we've encouraged our kids to to play a game anytime we watch a movie as a family which is to find the lie, and so for years, like our kids will be watching a movie and someone in it will be like you know, I just, I just know he's good in heart and one of my kids will go lie and they'll stick their hands up and I'll say we'll pause it.
• 37:46
Speaker 3: Hey, what's the lie?
• 37:47
Speaker 3: Well, no, one's good, not one.
• 37:49
Speaker 3: And so there's been times we're watching.
• 37:51
Speaker 3: There's one specific movie it's a great family friendly movie all the way until almost the post credit scene and then one of the main characters shows interest in the same sex person and our kids raise their hand and so we talked through and I love my 15 year old.
• 38:09
Speaker 3: She pointed out what they'll do is they'll take your favorite character, the one they write the best that you can most relate to, and then add that twist at the very end, and what we talked about is a false sense of empathy.
• 38:27
Speaker 3: The false sense of empathy is oh well, so I guess they're not like, maybe this is okay because I love the person, which a right sense of empathy is.
• 38:36
Speaker 3: This character reminds me of how beautiful God's image is in other people and how everyone is in need of the grace of God, and so just a way in which we consume content is to help us dissect what aspect of a story is redeemable and what aspect of a story is rejectable.
• 38:57
Speaker 2: That's why I watch black and white movies.
• 38:59
Speaker 2: It doesn't have any of that stuff in it and rugby.
• 39:04
Speaker 1: Very little sex and rugby so listen, oscar.
• 39:08
Speaker 1: When you had mentioned that find the live I.
• 39:10
Speaker 1: This trip that I just went on, I met someone who listens to the podcast.
• 39:14
Speaker 1: Says like my goal in life is to meet oscar and the thing disappointed, greatly disappointed, but that's what he brought out.
• 39:21
Speaker 1: Well, he says what has changed his life in raising his kids is when watching a movie find the lie.
• 39:25
  Speaker 1: That's right.
• 39:25
Speaker 1: Praise God, that's so good.
• 39:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, and Ray, I think this is a good place to kind of hone in on Entertainment.
• 39:35
Speaker 2: I think that we make a massive mistake when, in our minds, even subconsciously, entertainment becomes a necessity, and I think that's why some parents let their kids watch things that are distraught.
• 39:49
Speaker 2: Oh well, we have to.
• 39:49
  Speaker 2: No, we don't.
• 39:51
Speaker 2: And, mark, I love what you said in terms of like hey, we're not going to become desensitized, because if we were watching a movie and in that movie a mother and her son were getting married, we would throw it out the window like whoa shock.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: But it's like we're so desensitized.
• 40:08
Speaker 2: So, ray, entertainment like it's, it's the world's bully pulpit, yeah.
• 40:11
Speaker 4: Mark was saying that the world wants to normalize it.
• 40:15
Speaker 4: So we all say, oh, that's just okay.
• 40:17
Speaker 4: And even when this house hunters I don't know if you've ever watched house hunters they've got so many homosexual couples just going around looking at the house, two guys and it's just sweet and nice.
• 40:27
Speaker 4: And you think no, this is not normal.
• 40:29
Speaker 4: As Scripture says in Romans, it's against nature.
• 40:32
Speaker 4: I think one thing we need to do is train our kids to be witnesses for Christ, to homosexuals as much as anyone else, and I watched.
• 40:41
Speaker 4: Someone sent me a video yesterday of a Christian guy who spoke the truth to Vivek Ramaswamy.
• 40:50
Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
• 40:52
Speaker 2: He's brown like me, so I can recognize his name.
• 40:54
  Speaker 2: I practiced that.
• 40:56
Speaker 4: But this Christian who was speaking the truth had him up on why he isn't forthcoming about being a Hindu.
• 41:02
Speaker 4: He makes out he's a Christian.
• 41:05
Speaker 4: He talks about God in a generalized sense.
• 41:07
Speaker 4: What the Christian said was the truth, but it wasn't in love.
• 41:11
Speaker 4: From the moment he started speaking, it was condemning, it wasn't gentle, it wasn't kind and it was a really bad witness.
• 41:19
Speaker 4: So what we've got to be careful of is when we talk to homosexuals, we have the right tone.
• 41:24
  Speaker 1: And.
• 41:24
Speaker 4: I have so many homosexuals that are shocked to hear that I love them.
• 41:28
Speaker 4: They immediately think you're a Christian, you hate homosexuals.
• 41:32
  Speaker 4: No, we don't.
• 41:33
Speaker 4: We don't hate adulterers, fornicators, idolaters.
• 41:37
Speaker 4: We don't hate homosexuals.
• 41:38
Speaker 4: We warn them, like we warn everybody else, that God has appointed a day in which he'll judge the world in righteousness.
• 41:44
Speaker 4: That word day disappeared.
• 41:45
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 41:46
Speaker 4: God has appointed a day in which he'll judge the world in righteousness.
• 41:49
Speaker 4: So very important to tell your kids don't be afraid to talk to homosexuals.
• 41:53
Speaker 4: Make sure that you use the law correctly.
• 41:56
Speaker 4: The law was made for homosexuals, as it says in 1 Timothy 1, 8 through 10.
• 42:01
Speaker 4: It lists who they're made for.
• 42:02
Speaker 4: The law was made for, so take them through the commandments.
• 42:05
Speaker 4: You don't have to talk about their sexual stuff they get into.
• 42:08
Speaker 4: I don't want to know about that.
• 42:10
Speaker 3: Let me commend you real quick.
• 42:11
Speaker 3: Let me commend Ray real quick, through a slight adjustment to what he said.
• 42:15
Speaker 3: You said that people will say to you, ray, that they are shocked when they hear you say you love them.
• 42:22
Speaker 3: I've seen those videos.
• 42:24
Speaker 3: It's not just that they hear you say you love them, they see that you love them because when you speak to them, you speak to them with gentleness and respect, with a care and affection for their souls.
• 42:37
Speaker 3: And I've seen, I've seen people in the LGBTQ community walk away from you feeling.
• 42:41
Speaker 3: I've seen people in the LGBTQ community walk away from you feeling, hearing themselves being loved by you.
• 42:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, that's so good, and I think this is a good place to encourage you parents as well, to consider watching our movie Audacity with your children that are at that proper age.
• 42:56
Speaker 2: I mean, if they're old enough for you to talk to them about the issue, I think they're old enough to watch the movie with them.
• 43:06
Speaker 4: View it first yourself and you decide that.
• 43:07
Speaker 4: But that's what we tried to convey clearly through the issue.
• 43:07
Speaker 4: I think they're old enough to watch the movie with them.
• 43:08
Speaker 4: View it first yourself and you decide that.
• 43:08
Speaker 4: But that's what we tried to convey clearly through the movie, but there's nothing explicit in it.
• 43:10
Speaker 4: I think the most explicit thing is that God created Adam and Eve naked.
• 43:13
Speaker 3: And said be fruitful, multiply, and he wasn't talking about math.
• 43:17
Speaker 4: I think that's about the only thing, so it's pretty mild.
• 43:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good, but again, you'd be discerning if they're five you may think, okay, maybe two, or if they're two or if they're one.
• 43:26
Speaker 2: Or yeah one month old, 33.
• 43:28
Speaker 2: Anyway, I think it's a good one and that's what we convey in the movie.
• 43:33
Speaker 2: It's look, we're called to love.
• 43:35
Speaker 2: Such were some of you right, and so we need to maintain that, and the world needs to recognize that we are ambassadors for Christ, that we're not coming at them with anger and viciousness and then again that shock of like oh, untouchable right, they need the gospel.
• 43:54
Speaker 4: Everyone's in the same pigsty.
• 43:56
  Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right.
• 43:58
  Speaker 2: And chicken coop.
• 43:59
Speaker 2: No, no, stay on pigsty, because that's the prodigal son.
• 44:03
Speaker 4: That's what we're going for, not chicken coop.
• 44:05
Speaker 2: So chickens are sanctified.
• 44:08
Speaker 4: So as the son looked at the chickens and watched them eat, he thought, oh, I long for that chicken food.
• 44:14
Speaker 2: It doesn't work, yeah, but, mark, finding good resources for our kids at that young age.
• 44:23
Speaker 2: I love Answers in Genesis.
• 44:25
Speaker 2: They have such amazing resources, whether it's curriculum for homeschooling or whether it's VBS stuff or it's books you can read with your kids, but what do you think about?
• 44:35
  Speaker 1: it.
• 44:35
Speaker 1: Well, there is a book out there that I'd just recommend on sexual purity.
• 44:39
  Speaker 1: It's Fight Like a man.
• 44:42
Speaker 2: The first time we ever said it right, it's a bold, biblical fight, like Jackie Chan.
• 44:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, that was the last one someone said Get a fright like a man, A bold biblical battle plan for personal purity.
• 44:52
Speaker 1: You memorized it, mark Great book, and it is.
• 44:55
Speaker 1: It really is a great book.
• 44:56
Speaker 1: In fact, I asked Chad GPT today if he would recommend the book and he said absolutely.
• 45:04
Speaker 4: What Filled with practical advice on how to combat.
• 45:07
  Speaker 2: Why did you?
• 45:08
  Speaker 1: say chat.
• 45:08
Speaker 1: Gbt is a hymn.
• 45:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, Mark, Whoa whoa.
• 45:10
  Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
• 45:11
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, he said Can.
• 45:13
Speaker 3: I talk real quick to myself what about what you know?
• 45:17
Speaker 3: Every now and then, when I'm in a conversation, I can hear like former atheist skeptic Oscar Budden, and I can hear like former atheist skeptic Oscar Budden, and I can hear, so, practically speaking, like somebody sent you this podcast.
• 45:28
  Speaker 3: You're not a Christian.
• 45:29
Speaker 3: You're hearing this and you're just coming from a completely different worldview and you're thinking to yourself, man, like, what is wrong with letting people live the way they want to live?
• 45:37
Speaker 3: Why hold them back?
• 45:39
Speaker 3: And you know, one of the things I like to say is that God, um, we I should say like this we are not being held back from our desires, but by our desires.
• 45:53
Speaker 3: In other words, god is inviting you in to the idea of living out a righteous life for his glory and your good.
• 46:04
Speaker 3: I've said it before that God is the chief.
• 46:07
  Speaker 3: Actually, I hadn't said this.
• 46:08
Speaker 3: John Piper has said God is the chief joy officer of your life.
• 46:14
Speaker 3: There is nobody more interested in your joy than God himself.
• 46:18
Speaker 3: And one of the things that we've said before for CS Lewis is that he's got this great quote where he says you know it's, we act like we are being held back from our joy, but really what's happening is that God is offering us a holiday at the sea and we are settling for making mud pies in the slum, and so what we're talking about here is living out your intended purpose, which is to glorify God and enjoy him forever, and that's one of the ways in which I would explain it to my children, too, which is like God is calling us to live out the life we were meant to live.
• 46:59
Speaker 3: If you took a watch and you tried well, a watch is meant to tell time.
• 47:03
Speaker 3: Right, a watch is meant to tell time.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: If I used my watch to hammer a nail into wood, my watch would be destroyed.
• 47:12
Speaker 3: The nail wouldn't go into wood.
• 47:13
Speaker 3: Nothing would work out the way I wanted it to.
• 47:15
Speaker 3: A watch is not a hammer.
• 47:17
Speaker 3: God has designed you with meaning and purpose and value, and living out your life through the cross with meaning, purpose and value will draw you near to the glorious savior of Jesus Christ.
• 47:34
Speaker 3: On the other hand, living your life out the way you want to makes you a child of wrath, and a child of wrath that might seem harmful or harsh to somebody, but listen a child of wrath.
• 47:43
Speaker 3: And a child of wrath that might seem harmful or harsh to somebody.
• 47:43
Speaker 3: But listen, a child of wrath is simply someone that says in their heart of hearts I know better than God, I want to live my life the way I want to live my life, and the only role that God plays in my life, if he exists, is that of helping me support my way of living my life.
• 48:04
Speaker 3: If that's the way you think in your heart of hearts, the scripture calls you a child of wrath, and what God says is that ultimately, he will hand us over to our sins, but he desires that not a single one of us would experience that kind of wrath, and so, with every breath that you take, you are sensing the presence of God in your life, pulling you towards redemption and reconciliation, towards him.
• 48:32
Speaker 2: Oscar, I love the fact that you're pointing out we need to not just highlight the ugliness and the unnatural elements of sin, but the beauty of a life lived in accordance with God's design.
• 48:44
Speaker 2: Whenever we violate God's design for our human functioning, we are, in essence doing something unnatural, no matter how good it feels or how natural we think it is.
• 48:52
Speaker 2: It violates God's design.
• 48:54
Speaker 2: And reminding our kids that what you're doing is you're usurping the throne of God.
• 48:58
Speaker 2: What you're saying is that I am autonomous, I'm independent of God, I know better than God and I'm going to dictate what's right for my life.
• 49:05
Speaker 2: You have to describe to them the destructive nature and element that's involved with that.
• 49:10
Speaker 2: Mark, you were going to say I wasn't.
• 49:12
Speaker 1: I'm just spellbounded by you guys.
• 49:15
  Speaker 4: Your good looks.
• 49:16
Speaker 2: I thought you were about to.
• 49:17
  Speaker 2: What are you?
• 49:18
Speaker 4: looking at them for.
• 49:19
  Speaker 4: Thank you.
• 49:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, so you didn't want to say anything.
• 49:23
Speaker 2: Nope, oh nice, okay.
• 49:26
Speaker 2: So here are some passages too that I think would be good.
• 49:28
Speaker 2: Leviticus 18.22, you shall not lie with the males, with a woman, it's an abomination.
• 49:33
Speaker 2: Leviticus 20.13, if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them denomination Romans 1, of course it's a giving up right.
• 49:42
Speaker 2: It's unnatural that they're exchanging the natural function of a man and a woman.
• 49:47
Speaker 2: 1 Corinthians 6, which Mark, I believe, cited that.
• 49:50
Speaker 2: You know those will not inherit the kingdom of God, neither fornicators nor idolaters, nor adulterers nor homosexuals.
• 49:55
  Speaker 2: And 1 Timothy 1, 9-10,.
• 49:59
Speaker 2: Ray always cites this that the law was made right for those in that lifestyle, and he mentions in there those that are in sexual immorality.
• 50:08
Speaker 2: And so just understand that it goes back to you.
• 50:13
Speaker 2: Go back to Genesis and look at the whole incident with Sodom and Gomorrah and what happened with Lot and all that there.
• 50:17
Speaker 2: Scripture is just clear on these things, and so the Word needs to be the foundation, and from there you have an invitational type life where your kids see your love for the Lord, a healthy family, and they know they can come to you with anything, and by that I don't just mean you don't get shocked or you don't just.
• 50:35
Speaker 2: I mean you stop the world, you sit down and the kids get a sense like this is important to mom and dad.
• 50:41
Speaker 2: They want to tell me, they want to engage me on these things.
• 50:44
Speaker 2: I think all that's good and important.
• 50:47
Speaker 4: Ray Comfort anything else to say?
• 50:48
Speaker 4: By the way, you stopped the world.
• 50:49
  Speaker 4: What's?
• 50:50
  Speaker 2: that.
• 50:50
Speaker 4: You stopped the world from coming in and you stopped the world to talk to you.
• 50:54
Speaker 4: Ooh, I like that, Thank you.
• 50:56
Speaker 2: You should write a book about that.
• 50:57
Speaker 2: Stop the world, stop.
• 51:00
Speaker 4: That's actually a good book title it is a good title, you heard it here first.
• 51:02
