Transcript
- 0:07This is Chuck's canteena podcast where anything and everything is up for discussion. And
- 0:15now here's your barman, Chuck O'Donnell, I got me a radio mic.
- 0:20I canna hear it too? Is it good? Oh yeah, it's a
- 0:25loud but you I mean, it's but it's your own ardument. That's good.
- 0:30Okay, very good. Jesus are you spending money on? Hey,
- 0:36how's it going. I'm trying to take my job? Well, you see,
- 0:41I mean, well, let me tell you about this job. There's
- 0:44no pay. Oh man, so I'm on the little meter. Sometimes it's
- 0:52spiking red? Is it like coming across? Is like really bad? Oh
- 0:55no, no, that's normal, Like and we'll just take it live here,
- 1:00especially with a new mic, I had to say to like break it
- 1:02in a little bit. But like that's just how it is. And here's
- 1:06the thing though, it doesn't matter if you're I mean, if you're obviously
- 1:07continuously going red words stained read, that's a problem. But like any podcasts
- 1:15like this one, you would hope people would edit shit, yeah, exactly.
- 1:21Like like for example, like there's only been I talked about, but
- 1:25there's only been a select few. There's only been a select few times on
- 1:30here that I've cut stuff out. That might be because someone who might not
- 1:34be of like no like a known variety, you know, their last name
- 1:38might actually be said or maybe just like dead air, you know, like
- 1:44sometimes things happen like you know, we're doing this on we're techically doing this
- 1:47over the internet, so like you know, there might be dead silence something
- 1:51like that where someone gets cut out for a minute or two. Especially you
- 1:53go back with another podcast, you can hear what was on. I just
- 1:56continue to ramble on when it's like I feel like he should be done.
- 1:59Not that I don't ramble, as my wife likes to say, but and
- 2:02I know I rambled. Oh my god, Oliver right now. No,
- 2:06he's trying to We've we've done a lot of like cleaning in the house,
- 2:10so she's been in Germany. Like we've done like a lot of I'm trying
- 2:13to get stuff done here. Yeah, and uh, right at my office
- 2:16is kind of like the storage room, so there's plastic like everywhere. Oh
- 2:23no, he's a plastic wrese. Oh god, I love my cat to
- 2:30dead. He's almost ten years old, but continues to eat plastic and getsoos
- 2:35to throw it up and go about to say, come on, you think
- 2:37you learned by now, No, of course not. You know, cats
- 2:40and dogs are supposed to be smarter than his humans, but you can't learn
- 2:46that Jesus Christ. But yeah, so anyway, getting down with the show.
- 2:51How are you? It's been a while, shag Zilla shak Zilla back
- 2:54in the house with a new mic, very good mic. I've been good,
- 3:00honestly, like things that have really been been getting getting sunny over on
- 3:07my end. Yeah, I'm happy to be back. It's been too long
- 3:13and quite frankly, just not my cat is come on, they hear each
- 3:16other Charlie, Yes, oh yeah, hey baby for everyone who doesn't know,
- 3:24my cat's name is Charlie. But with an l u y you're one
- 3:29of those I'm kidding all your cat's adorable. What was I was saying?
- 3:32Happy to be back? I should be free around more so that's good.
- 3:39You know, maybe maybe a little more podcasting, that's fine. I mean
- 3:43I plan to pick up podcasting a little quickly. To hear a little housekeeping
- 3:46on my head. Actually, first, before I get the housekeeper, are
- 3:47you drinking anything? I'm not? Actually I just finished dinner too since it
- 3:54is, you know, bar themed. I made the internet since hitting Value
- 4:00Ranch crack burgers, and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. It
- 4:12was delicious. I'm saying you wouln't think Hidden Valley and Burgers would be like
- 4:15a thing, but so I I was skeptical for the very reason, and
- 4:24I was kind of worried. So I love ranch, but I was.
- 4:28I was pretty worried it was gonna be pretty ranchy. And it didn't taste
- 4:31ranchy at all. It's weird. Whatever seasonings are in in that uh season
- 4:39packet, only the seasoning came out in flavor and it just it added so
- 4:46much to the burger. That's weird. Yeah, it was very weird that
- 4:49I think. That's part of why I was so surprised. Was I wasn't
- 4:54really expecting that. I thought it to have more of a ranchy taste,
- 5:00but no, it was. It was literally whatever herbs are in in the
- 5:02seasoning, it did something with the meat and it made it pop good.
- 5:08M hm. I just since I mean, I've said a couple of weeks
- 5:12ago, and again I think you were enjoining us. I do a pod.
- 5:15I know it's been a what another techically eisode that come out last week
- 5:17that was an era on releasing on my end. Yeah, just like with
- 5:26the podcasts and like food, like I've been trying to. Last time we
- 5:29were on here, I told about this diet I started doing. Really nothing's
- 5:33changed other than like I'm just not eating reader carbs. I'm you know,
- 5:36I'm doing minimal because you know, shockingly, ladies and gentlemen, your body
- 5:41does need carbs. Yes, you can't cut anything out except processed sugar,
- 5:47right, processed sugar. And I've been doing that, and like, just
- 5:53like the change I've seen the last like four weeks have I mean, I'm
- 5:56saying it's like it's like one of those things like look at it, you
- 5:58might not notice, but like I feel fantastic. I've only done two cheat
- 6:02meals, not days meals. The first cheat meal I did, after I
- 6:06ate it, I had like a carb like overdox like we're no, no,
- 6:14but I literally felt so bloated. I'm like, oh, I had
- 6:15it was a bun on my burger. I had no cheese, nothing,
- 6:17I said, a bunch of cooked vegetables on it. I literally thought like
- 6:20I was gonna explode because of how like bloated, I felt, and then
- 6:27this here's the thing. Especially my wife knows this and a few of my
- 6:30friends. I am a burger fanatic. I love my burgers. Every time
- 6:34I go to a burger joint, I always try a different kind of burger
- 6:38because the classic American style cheeseburger I have my place I go to for that.
- 6:42It's my favorite burger place in the world. I don't ever stay it
- 6:44on here because I want them to raise the prices. That's why I believe.
- 6:55Damn. Anyway, that's a lot. That's a lot of cars.
- 7:00Anyway, So last weekend I went to a really good front of ours.
- 7:05Emily. Her family does a thing every year called Christmas in July. And
- 7:10really quick, you're not drink anything. I'm drinking Lacroix orange because I just
- 7:13did a random grab in my fridge. That's when I grabbed. So I
- 7:18went to this christ of July thing. We've done it. We go to
- 7:20it every year. They invite, gracefully, graciously invite us every single year.
- 7:25Very appreciated about it, and it would be hard for me because every
- 7:30night when we do the Christmas thing, the main course is pizza, delicious
- 7:35choice. Very delicious choice. Now them being sweethearts, they asked me,
- 7:42Hey, we heard you're doing this diet. Is there anything you want us
- 7:45to like do to like substitute And I'm like, no, I've been saving
- 7:47it. I will do this for my cheatmail. They order from and I
- 7:51can't remember the name of a place. It's not like a Domino's, but
- 7:54it's like a smaller kind of dominds it's a change place like you've definitely I
- 7:58want to say, like I said about than the a place from the office.
- 8:03I'll say because I just Drew taught me, don't say brand names unless
- 8:05are not almost pain exactly. So we we got this and I grabbed two
- 8:11big I grab two pieces of pizza, okay, two pieces of pizza.
- 8:18Emily and a few others said, we were concerned of how happy you looked
- 8:26when you were eating that pizza, to the point where the Venus her Venus
- 8:33Sweet, one of Caitlyn's actually Kaitlyn's made about her one of her best friends
- 8:37in the entire world. She had her sister go grabbing her. Nan asked,
- 8:41as I was eating my pizza because she knew what was coming, and
- 8:45I was being probably I'm only gonna have two. And then we had a
- 8:48few notes shows like oh we got these actual pieces of pizza, And as
- 8:50soon as I heard oh, no, we have, I'd even hesitate.
- 8:54You gotta take one for the team. There, I took two for the
- 8:56team. And to say that, before that antacid hit that I felt like
- 9:01absolute hell. Was it from like the greasy? I want to say it
- 9:07was more so from the girl. Actually, no, I don't want to
- 9:09see the greasy because these were, like I want to, I don't want
- 9:13to. These weren't like your classic tavern style. These weren't your classic triangle
- 9:18cut style. These were like your Detroit set were They're kind of thicker and
- 9:20square. Yeah, so I want to say it was a combination of the
- 9:24grease and the carbs. But once I asked it, I was fine.
- 9:28I will say my tolerance I think has gone down a little bit because again
- 9:31I've only had I've only drank on two occasions. You have one drink on
- 9:37two occasions since I started. Although, but I mean, you know me,
- 9:39I really don't drink that much like Jesus Christ, Like I guarant if
- 9:41you were go through the entire history of this episode, this is Earth Show
- 9:45this one sixty seven. I would be shocked if I heard at most a
- 9:50twenty five percent of the time I've actually I'm having alcohol on here. I
- 9:54just I don't drink alcohol that much. I really don't, like I'll go
- 9:56most actually during the week. Well yeah, but like if I'm out,
- 10:00like if I'm out of dinner, I'll have a you know, I'll have
- 10:01a beer or I mean, as people have heard, I've been dabbling like
- 10:05martine espressing martinis and always I'll always do something bourbon. But yeah, no,
- 10:09like I've like I was last weekend, I was with my dad and
- 10:13I love your dad, and we were I go visit. I've been I've
- 10:16been up north in a long time. And as I'm little driving up there,
- 10:18like not even forty five minutes out, I'm like, hey, anything,
- 10:22He's like, yeah, need to get here quicker, Like what's something
- 10:24goes? My My basement's flooding. So to say that we earned a drinker
- 10:28or that was a vendor statement. And then yeah, last week and I
- 10:31just had I had a couple uh sevens and sevens, and I was feeling
- 10:33it. Man, Oh dude, I've had a seven and I you know
- 10:37what it was one of those drinks, like of all the drinks I had
- 10:39gone through my head. I'm like, well, I don't know, I'm
- 10:41a drink this weekend and someone just hand me a seven and seven. I'm
- 10:43like okay, and oh yeah, oh yeah it hit. And then I
- 10:48had not not joking, I had one beer. Having that beer, I'm
- 10:54like, this is a mistake, so bloated, I can feel it.
- 11:00It was. It was a low car beard so like. But then we're
- 11:05on though, it's like one of those things like oh man, because I
- 11:05mean, you know, I don't drink that much. It is, but
- 11:07I was like, oh man, this is really good. I will say,
- 11:13though I like a baby that first night. Anyway, we went on
- 11:16to the point. But yes, no, it's good to have you back.
- 11:18It's good to be back. It is. It really is one to
- 11:22quickly say this too. I've been saying it for a long time. I'm
- 11:24gonna have other people from other places on the show, and so okay,
- 11:28I mean I did have a couple of guests here and there. Had JB.
- 11:31Hilliard Award winning author. I had a Melee from New York who was
- 11:35doing a last I heard, you know, she's doing kind of like a
- 11:37Baseball New York Yankee style, a little one production show, and it's gone
- 11:43extension. So clearly it's just being successful. And now actually I have a
- 11:46bunch of other things coming. We're to the point where not I'm not gonna
- 11:50say I like an I'm gonna being busy. I'm not like Dwayne Johnson busy,
- 11:52but to the point where I had to open a calendar and having people
- 11:56I know, it's a good problem they have. So it is gonna be
- 12:00a lot of podcasts here in the next couple of months. You're gonna have
- 12:03to start a drinking here in the week. I know, God, I
- 12:05know what am I gonna do? Scott her Brandy, Oh my god,
- 12:09I'm at to wake up earlier and work around in the morning. Shit.
- 12:15A little quick discosure before we get to the Slurp review here this time last
- 12:20year actually a little yeah, a little little after, but around the same
- 12:24time last year, I announced that I would be not taking a hiatus.
- 12:26Essentially there would be podcasts coming out that might sound a little off basu,
- 12:30because I would be traveling same things last year. I'm gonna be traveling here
- 12:33in a couple of weeks, can we be going on to visit my wife
- 12:35in Europe? So the month of August, there will still be a podcast
- 12:39every single week. However, in case something timely happens and doesn't seem like
- 12:45I'm talking about it for super reason, that is why. So do apologize
- 12:48for that, because I remember I we got asked by someone last week or
- 12:50like, are you gonna do a you can do an episode about the attentph
- 12:54last weekend. I'm like, no, I used to used to clear politics.
- 13:01Oh yeah, oh yeah, not that. Look I have I'll talk
- 13:05about vers like anytime. All these people I talked about, they're like,
- 13:07hey, what's the one thing you don't to talk about. I'm like,
- 13:09I don't care if you come on here and talk about mental health. I
- 13:13don't care if you come on here and talk about your say yeah, I
- 13:16don't care about any of that. Second I hear political shit, yep,
- 13:22I'm not doing it. I'm not call you on the podcast. I don't
- 13:26care, like I'm just I'm not doing it. I don't got time for
- 13:28it, and I don't get the page just I have even like Kitlyn knows,
- 13:31I don't like politics because I just I don't care like people, if
- 13:37like like, if you care much, if you want to care that much
- 13:39about the politics, especially with what's coming up here in a few months,
- 13:43and especially with the news. I kind of just broke today recording. It's
- 13:46about seven o'clock Central on July eighteenth. You can go on any podcasting website
- 13:52type politics. You're gonna find gone knows how many, because you know,
- 13:56if the whole phraserone has a podcast is understatement and just him an email?
- 14:00How do you think I'm connected with all these other shows? Right now?
- 14:03That the time to do some collaboration. I just say, you know what,
- 14:05I'm going to reach out to all the podcasts I probably shouldn't have reached
- 14:09out to, or I should have reach out to a long time ago.
- 14:11Well, I'm gonna go on too dizzy adult podcasts. Why because fuck it,
- 14:15click clack, go out and make fun of me. Don't give a
- 14:18shit anyway. But yeah, no, I still steer clear of politics.
- 14:22I can't remember the individual's name. The person who did the logo for the
- 14:26show for Chucks canteena goes and I gotta reach I don't even know they're around
- 14:31anymore. Went by the name Nuclear Heat. Graphics, and prior to him,
- 14:41I reach out to a different individual to do the logo. They they
- 14:46said, look, I'm just gonna kind of take a ween at it,
- 14:50like essentially like they said, like, hey, that's how I do with
- 14:52all my clients. I take a wing at it, kind of give you
- 14:54like a basic drawing, and then after that I go crazy with them like
- 14:56okay, great, And he said, what what are like, what's like
- 15:01the one thing you want to buy on your show. I'm like, there's
- 15:01me personally politics. I'll never forget. He sent me this trucks canteena podcast
- 15:05logo. It was okay, it was okay, just I'm just being honest,
- 15:09but like, right at the very bottom, he kind of did like
- 15:11a barstool, not like not like the not like the company bars, but
- 15:15like a kind of like an actual barstool, like actual stool, and like
- 15:18right on the seat he put no politics. And I'm like, like,
- 15:22that's that's literally just calling out like yeah, come on the show, no
- 15:26politics, and like if you're an asshole, you're gonna be like, yeah,
- 15:28I'm gonna call unless I know I'm gonna talk about politics. No.
- 15:31I think that that sounds like a fun idea. Just I'm not gonna it
- 15:35was. But here's the thing. It was one of those things where if
- 15:37you would have seen it, I might still have it somewhere on my computer,
- 15:41like one of my socials where I connected with some of these graphic artics.
- 15:46It was by the way for anything like like that's why, that's why
- 15:48different all the show, the show, the intro, the christ the logo
- 15:54and everything like that. I went through online and didn't hire some like insane
- 15:58giant company. I and then fund independent contractors essentially small business owners and you're
- 16:03through them, although I do any work out to them. I know I
- 16:04do work on transitions on the show for like just commercially that that's on me.
- 16:08But anyway, yeah, and I just if you would have seen it
- 16:11like he put every like they put, you know, everything and everything's up
- 16:15for discussion, sports, movies, drinking yet like all that was there,
- 16:18but just the way that no politics was there, maybe it look as the
- 16:21catchphrase almost I mean, welcome to Chuck's Cantina. Politics. I feel like
- 16:29that a bar could definitely do that, like anything can go in the bar,
- 16:33but no talking politics, you know, right, like don't don't harsh.
- 16:36Someone's five. Here's how much I don't think about politics. I love
- 16:40Drew, but Drew knows hate is a strong word, and he knows I
- 16:45have that word for a certain team that he supports. I even allow that
- 16:52to be discussed in this cantina. Yeah, much respect, Hill. You
- 16:57and I have done a couple of NFL Yeah, we've done a couple of
- 17:00NFL Draft and we we had the season coming up, but we could talk
- 17:07a whole episode on well to do a preview. I mean, I'm excited,
- 17:11That's all I'm gonna say. Me too, me too. You have
- 17:14reason to be excited. It'd be nice and once in a generation if you
- 17:18want to get fucking lucky at the quarterback. But hey, hey, teacher
- 17:22their own. But I'm also really excited for the Bears. I am.
- 17:26But again, if we go down this road or but all right, we'll
- 17:30get to the actual point here. But anyway, yet, so can they
- 17:33have a lot of stuff coming out? Please check Chucks Canteen on your socials,
- 17:40chuckxcanteen and jamil dot com. And also, like I said too in
- 17:42the past, you know, if you want to connect about come on the
- 17:47show or having me myself, come on your show or hell, even if
- 17:48you want to have like one of the many patriots that come on this show
- 17:52as well, reach out to me on one of those platforms be able to
- 17:55have a discussion with you. Because actually some people actually did that and actually
- 17:59reached out. That's pretty cool. And also I reached out to them as
- 18:02well, so are other ones as well. Hence why we're talking now.
- 18:06So yes, talk, you know talking is cool anyway, So yes,
- 18:12So again, I want to think you ever join us today, think all
- 18:15of you who are taking a break from playing colleg football twenty five must be
- 18:18nice. I will say, the memes have been pretty hilarious. Anyway,
- 18:26we'll get there. Why we're here today, so full disclosure. As we
- 18:30always say anytime we do a slip review on this podcast, spoilers are not
- 18:33to be uh what's that word? Oh yeah, they're gonna Spoilers are assumed.
- 18:38If we're listening to a SLURP review, we are going to do spoilers.
- 18:41If there's going to be a non spoiler review, that's called a preview.
- 18:45And by the way, I don't do previews. Why who cares if
- 18:52you want to do it? If you want to if you really want to
- 18:53learn, you know, you know what you know what it's called. You
- 18:56want a preview is? It's called uh right, when you turn on We're
- 18:59Gonna Starts Acolyte. When you do turn on Star Wars Acolyte, you know
- 19:02what they do the week before? You know what they show you before the
- 19:03star starts. It's called the recap aka preview. That's not what we do
- 19:08here. So we're going to do a full serp review on all eight episodes.
- 19:12No, are we going to cover every single episode? Probably not?
- 19:15Why we always do? We talk about what we like, but we didn't
- 19:17like where we think we're going, why everyone hates it, or why everyone
- 19:19loves it? Spoiler everyone hates the show? I don't know. Uh,
- 19:22I mean I see why, but other points it's a spoiler. Stop pitching.
- 19:32Oh are you getting emails? No? I have no believe or not.
- 19:36I got one of those a long time ago. Play spot far I
- 19:41can't remember. Actually, I'm pretty sure it was for No Way Home.
- 19:47I'm pretty sure it's for Home because we had done quite a few podcasts leading
- 19:52up to that. I'll never forget. Someone said you didn't put spoiler review
- 19:56and it's like not like we did like five previews shows before that, now,
- 20:00like we did literally analysis of fucking trailers. I was like, oh,
- 20:03do you see the part where that lizard thing all of a sudden his
- 20:07head gets down. I haven't seen it, that part where the lizard while
- 20:15he's jumping that spider man for some reason, he gets hit by something invisible
- 20:18in the face. Gee, wonder what that? You know what I mean,
- 20:22like just ship like yeah, no, I can't remember. It wasn't
- 20:25an email something on I want to say Facebook anyway, shit like that.
- 20:30But yes, speller of you welcome, enjoy yourself anyway. Uh christ I
- 20:37didn't take a sip after that monologue of mine. So yeah, let's carry
- 20:44into it. So ezacchoe on Disney plus eight episodes. Oh your name brot
- 20:48dropping again. It's assume with it's assumed with the the show because our words,
- 20:56well, how is it gonna want anyway? Okay? Theah sorry sorry
- 21:03everyone, it makes sense now Yeah, okay, shower was Lezzie Headland and
- 21:08uh where do we begin? Well, I'm just gonna I'm not gonna bury
- 21:15the lead. I give it a six point five to seven and that writing
- 21:21is strictly entertainment value. I'm not a Star Wars Lord guy, as much
- 21:27as I would love to learn it, so it's not anything based on that.
- 21:30It's just pure entertainment. I know. I texted you a couple of
- 21:36times, especially at the start of how rough it was? Uh that that
- 21:41definitely brought the score down. But for everyone it's the dialogue. To me,
- 21:48it's just writing. Was Yeah, this show's best friend, both in
- 21:55dialogue and with predictability. Now, I don't want to be jumping from start
- 22:02to finish, but I have to be honest. You saw my text.
- 22:07The last two episodes did have some plot twists that I truly didn't see coming,
- 22:14so you know, I have to give credit where credits due. That
- 22:17was a very nice change of pace, and it was refreshing to kind of
- 22:22not be able to predict three episodes ahead based on one scene. So out
- 22:34of all of I'll say, come out right and say it, out of
- 22:37all the Disney plus Star Wars for the actual not okay, And I'm not
- 22:41one of those ones. Oh you can't count the cord too. It's because
- 22:44actually they actually are cannon of all the live action things. This definitely for
- 22:49me was the weakest. And believe me, if you've listened to my sort
- 22:53of review of Boba Fett, I was very critical of that writing and some
- 22:59of the action as well. This show did get better as it went on.
- 23:06The problem was some of the dialogue was really poor. Also, here's
- 23:12the thing too, As us two lads here have gotten older, we also
- 23:18have gone a little more well, not entirely. Sometimes we'd be pretty stupid,
- 23:25especially coming from a disny adult over here, we've gone a little more
- 23:27financially self conscious. This was a show that had a budget of two hundred
- 23:33million dollars and I'm like, what, thank you what? There have been
- 23:40some Star Wars things on Dizzy. Plus I'm pretty sure Mandalorian was cheaper.
- 23:47That looked ten times better than this now I looked. But like, I
- 23:51mean, there was some very bad just editing and some like that. Another
- 23:57But first, I'm gonna come bright and say, the choreography, the fights
- 24:00awesome. Oh yeah, badass like John Wick, like with a lightsaber,
- 24:04shit like awesome shit, which for me, I think for me seeing a
- 24:08lot of the show, the story like, Okay, here's the thing.
- 24:11If I were to just read the story of us and she like of I
- 24:15mean, I mean, here's a plot a hundred years prior to everything Anakin
- 24:21Vader related or Luke Vader related. A bunch of Jedis are getting randomly murdered.
- 24:26We're trying to figure out who they introduced the murderer. She kills Trinity
- 24:30from the Matrix, which no one expected because she was the main person advertised
- 24:33for the show. In the first five minutes, she gets murdered by this
- 24:41woman or by this girl, and then all of a sudden, we find
- 24:44out that she has a twin who they did a good job like showing it
- 24:48like she was a different person. Actually the way they like, the way
- 24:51they think like oh, like like, oh, this girl just killed the
- 24:52Jedi. Now she's on the ship to show it's like, actually, no,
- 24:55it's a twin, Like oh, okay, they did a good job
- 24:56showing that. And then uh oh yeah. So they're trying to figure out
- 25:03what happened. They figure out the twins alive because they thought the twin that
- 25:07killed the Jedi was actually dead. It wasn't. Then they tried to figure
- 25:10out why she alive. You figure out that some stranger that's the guy's name
- 25:14as a Sith. He's training her, heaving her killed Jedi because she was
- 25:18wrong by the Jedi on their planet because apparently her and her twin are not
- 25:22actually were not born twins. They were created by some kind of force,
- 25:23and the force by some space witches and shit and go, and like okay,
- 25:30like that's it's pretty easy to follow. Yeah, but there were some
- 25:33times It's just like it could like the entire concept could have been so insanely
- 25:42cool that like just conceptually, but again, it just it just kind of
- 25:49flopped. Like well, like I was so hyped for act and and I
- 25:57like I didn't look at anything. I had only seen the trailer and just
- 26:03like the name, you know, ALCOHOLI like that sounds pretty fucking cool,
- 26:07right, So I was hyped as fuck to to watch it. And during
- 26:14episode one I was so disappointed. I was just like, this is this
- 26:18is lame for me. I wasn't disappointed at that. I was disappointed halfway
- 26:21through because I'm just like it didn't get better for no, because it got
- 26:26predictable. I mean, I'm the plots was the thing that happened, Like
- 26:30what happened to I didn't that I didn't expect, but I look at that
- 26:36in a second. But it was also like one of those scenes where I'm
- 26:38just like, even in this podcast, well enough, you like as and
- 26:44as I have said, you can literally try to make Star Wars could try
- 26:48to make a character like a Pizza the Hut from Space Balls, but instead
- 26:53as a character of just shit, and Renee and I would try to find
- 26:56a way to justify it because we're that literally to this franchise, I mean
- 27:02so much so that we both really have tattoos of this stuff on our bodies.
- 27:07The point being, though, it's just like sometimes it's just like the
- 27:11problem with Star Wars right now is just the inconsistency because you have things like
- 27:14mandaloriin and and Or, which are award winning shows that people to call some
- 27:18of the best even better in some of the original Star Wars stuff like that,
- 27:22but then you have stuff like this And as I said, Boba Fet
- 27:26which I mean I really did I enjoy Bubba Fat the most, or let
- 27:30me or Obi Wan We're we want started off so strong, and then all
- 27:33of a sudden they thought, hey, we'll have We'll do the hide Leia
- 27:37in your coat trick, even though you have a giant ass hump on your
- 27:40left leg. Nowah, the problem is there's no consistency, and they've made
- 27:47changes in the last couple of months to try to justify that. And I
- 27:48think it was just like the show was already done. But I just remember
- 27:51the hype for this show was insane because it was something we had no we
- 27:55had no clue about because they've not done anything like this before, Like they've
- 27:59done video games like oh this took place ages ago or stuff like that,
- 28:03and they never said if it's can or not. But this is legitmly the
- 28:07first thing outside of the Skywalker saga, literally, and the hype for it
- 28:12was real because I said it was gonna be a Sith show, which it
- 28:15was, but it could it could have used a lot more Sith. It
- 28:21could use a lot more Sith, which some people like hated the way the
- 28:22Sith were portrayed because like, like just which I don't know why, like
- 28:26this said they're not supposed to be, like like like when the guy called
- 28:30himself Sith, it's like, well, that's what he is, Like he's
- 28:32not he's supposed to. He's supposed to like essentially say I want power and
- 28:34that's who I am. That anyway. Yeah, it's just probably put it
- 28:41for every thing. But they did every single episode out of five decisions they
- 28:47made. You know, usually, you know, if you want to you
- 28:48know, if you have five decisions to make, usually three out of five
- 28:52it's passable. The problem was it was two out of five at most every
- 28:57episode. Now for me, towards the end got a lot better. But
- 29:00like for me, also towards the end, it became more of okay,
- 29:04not that we're gonna end this show with a band, it's we're gonna end
- 29:07this show with you're gonna want to watch season two when I don't even know
- 29:10if they are going to get a season or two. Yeah, the ending,
- 29:14I mean, with how it kind of got much better at the end
- 29:19and the way that it ended, I think a season two would be great
- 29:25if they can just get right into the action. You know, she starts
- 29:29training, she has to go kill people. You know, you don't have
- 29:32to do all this develop the storyline. You know why why this good girl
- 29:38ends up turning evil? Yeah, spoiler the good the good twin she finds
- 29:45out that the Jedi Killer family, even though they were kind of defending her
- 29:48and away, it was kind of like it was kind of like everyone was
- 29:48wrong in their own way kind of thing that j was doing what they thought
- 29:51they're supposed to do. And so she joins the Evil Twin and the Sith
- 29:56guy and yeah, sorry, go on, well no, no, I
- 30:00mean that's pretty much it, like you know, they can just get right
- 30:03into training, you know, action all Sith type stuff right right, And
- 30:10I need to bitch about this really quick too, okay, so yeah,
- 30:15get right to it. Okay, So I mean that. Okay, here
- 30:18there I have two gripes with like one gripe with Star Wars fans, my
- 30:22people, and the second with the show. Let me go with the show
- 30:23first, okay before I get actually, let me go with let me go
- 30:26with the Star Wars scene first, because not many people are gonna get this.
- 30:29You might not even know this, Okay. The amount of people I've
- 30:33seen online bitching about why did the Star Wars change from blue to red?
- 30:38This is stuff they've explained many times. Not in the movies, I'll give
- 30:41you, yeah, in games, books, news, uh, TV shows
- 30:51like the like the like, the cartoons like the fucking Legends and Shiit Kyber
- 30:56Crystals can bleed. This has been established for a while. I've seen some
- 31:02shows where it was like, oh my god, Diard Star Wars fans are
- 31:03like, how did the how did the lightsaber change? It's like, I
- 31:07remember you talk about how cool it was that it bled. But of course,
- 31:10because you just want to join the paray on hating the show so much,
- 31:12you're just gonna forget the fact that you actually know this ship. That
- 31:15shit pisses me off. Moving past that now, the honestly, as bad
- 31:21as some of the writing was, Okay, here's the full describe, here's
- 31:25too Sometimes we don't know what things were like post production. Uh. Case
- 31:30in point, there's a reason Ryan Reynolds continues to makes fun of what's one
- 31:33of the funniest jokes in uh, one of the dead Pool movies. You
- 31:37know, someone said, oh, I never saw green lantern and what's his
- 31:40response? Neither did the editor bag? Oh, you know what I'm saying.
- 31:56Fucking fucking smooth that anyway, move on. Uh. The other biggest
- 32:04issue with these shows and and or improved. You can do this and your
- 32:07show can be badass even though you don't have to have action every two seconds.
- 32:12These shows are too fucking short. Yep, there is no reason actually
- 32:17want. I'm gonna check this really quick, and I apologize. I know
- 32:21this is clicking e clack skimmick. There was no reason. What did I
- 32:23say? The budget for the show was, it's about two hundred okay,
- 32:28two hundred million, and that's not including marketing, because the general rule is
- 32:31whatever you see the budgeted, you gotta times about one point five. According
- 32:35to yeah acording's pretty much they just wordscording. Wikipedia budgets about one eighties,
- 32:38so you could probably go about two hundred seventy to two hundred. Okay.
- 32:43I'm gonna look up a pretty good show right now. It's called The House
- 32:45of the Dragon. You might have heard of it. Yeah, there's just
- 32:49a little another season currently out the moment. So I'm gonna go to the
- 32:53House of the Dragon, and I'm gonna guarantee you this budget, if not
- 33:01more, is not by much. I guarantee it. The problem is,
- 33:07I don't understand how they have And here's the thing. It's not like they're
- 33:09hiring these like insane actors who are like you know, like DiCaprio or like
- 33:17Dwayne Johnson, like who costs thirty five million minimum for like you know what
- 33:21I mean, And stuff like that. Okay, hold on, let me,
- 33:24I'm pull up the budget right now. Apologies, But the point I'm
- 33:28trying to make is there is no reason that these shows should not be that
- 33:31long or shouldn't be that short. I get forty five minutes at most.
- 33:36Hell, I get if you just have an episode of just action packed lightsaber
- 33:39shit, it's thirty five. But some of these episodes I understanding here,
- 33:43and here's problem with too with stars. Sometimes these episodes start to get really
- 33:45good, it ends, yep, what has been the Game of Thrones?
- 33:51Bread and butter for the this entire time? It's an hour long, and
- 33:55when the ship's really good, like, oh my god, what's what that
- 33:58happened? Then it ends. It makes you want to watch the final week,
- 34:00and then you start off right away with a banner yep. Unlike with
- 34:04some of these episodes, you're like, okay, we're moving along. Du
- 34:07We're not going to do anything in this episode, absolutely nothing. We're gonna
- 34:12show you some more of the world, and that's that's it. According to
- 34:16this, House of the Dragon has a budget, so it's about twenty million
- 34:20episode, which is a lot, but with ten episodes, so it brings
- 34:22a budget around t so pretty much the exact same except ten verse eight and
- 34:28ten minimum an hour. Yeah, there isn't an it's not like this is
- 34:34a small you know, it isn't a small studio. This isn't someone making
- 34:38a movie with eyemovie. Yeah, we'll also think of how much uh cgi
- 34:45are for how detailed the dragons are, right like that, you can't tell
- 34:51me a dragon A single dragon would be easier than all the lace they were
- 34:58seen put together. And by the way, most of Star Wars, there's
- 35:00not there's never been that many lightsabers in one scene. Yeah, which was
- 35:05cool, like it was badass, but it's just like I mean, then
- 35:07you can sow one up it and then you can look at the episodes where
- 35:10there's multiple dragons or dragon fights, right like all crystal clear detail, you
- 35:17know, like a lot of moneys go into that. Like I have,
- 35:21I haven't seen any of the season yet because I'm wit until it all comes
- 35:22out to watch it probably for the best, to be honest. Yeah,
- 35:28but I mean i've heard I heard it's been a weaker than the last season.
- 35:30But from what I've heard, like all the scenes where there's like obviously
- 35:32a lot of c is used nothing but phenomenal. Yeah, and it's just
- 35:36like and he's I don't know if they use the thing the volume thing where
- 35:38it's like giant screen in the background. I think they're actually kind of getting
- 35:42away from that. So like but even you could tell like something like some
- 35:45of they they they use practical effects like actually going to location and stuff like
- 35:50that, and like it's still really good, but it's just like, how
- 35:52does this cost that much? Like I just I don't and I don't know
- 35:55if anything. That's what I need to do. I need to reach out
- 35:58to of all these people connecting. I need to find like a guy into
- 36:00finance in movies and be like, what do you mean why this causes this
- 36:04much? It looks like it's probably the whole cast and crew, like you
- 36:07know, that's probably one to two hundred people date that songs like House of
- 36:12the Dragon, which have award winning app That's that's what I was thinking of,
- 36:15how yeah, I mean not that, not that, not that act
- 36:20like they didn't have people with you know, like the guy Soul he's from
- 36:22the movie Bonding Hole Best Picture winner, and he's also he also got Trinity
- 36:28for five minutes. But yeah, I just they need to get more to
- 36:35say it what they need. And again, there's a lot of things you
- 36:37can say about Kathleen Kennedy, but you can't deny her success. But they
- 36:42need a Kevin Figgy. They need they need someone who is going to go
- 36:45here's what we're doing, and that it's my way, the highway. The
- 36:50problem is she does by all accounts, she is like her my ware the
- 36:52highway to a point, but it's own. But she doesn't think big pictures.
- 36:58She just isn't for that specific thing. It's like, no, where
- 37:00are we going. It's like, no, see what you want about the
- 37:02Rape and Kylo Red movies, it's been proven they didn't make a planet first.
- 37:07Yeah. I like the movies a lot, but it's I've said last
- 37:10Jedi is one of my least favorite Star Wars movies. Why because they literally
- 37:14discredited to me, they discredit half of what happened to Provie prior, and
- 37:16so many of the characters had stys that were completely pointless. Yeah. Yeah,
- 37:22I mean, when you're doing something that people are this passionate about,
- 37:25this invested in like, and something that has this much lower like, you
- 37:32have to have a big picture. You have to make it make sense,
- 37:36you have to make it feel relatable, like otherwise it's just you know,
- 37:43a dumpy take on what sorrow should be. Right it Like, there were
- 37:51rumors a couple of years ago with the whole Shapepack Eiger disneything, that Figy
- 37:54was looking to potentially like not i mean, not leave, but potentially stepped
- 37:59down because it was I mean, it was reported years it was announced that
- 38:02he was gonna produce a Star Wars movie, and people were thinking this might
- 38:05be his way to be like I'm done, like I'm gonna go do Star
- 38:07Wars. I'm gonna go run Star Wars now, because apparently he's a bigger
- 38:10Star Wars NERD than Marble, which is pretty freaking weird to say out loud,
- 38:19especially, I mean, the monetizer's about vin five yeah here, But
- 38:22now apparently with like movies like Deadpools like that come out, he's like,
- 38:25oh, they're like, oh, that's not gonna happen. He's fully he's
- 38:29fully got, he's fully energetic again. He's back, he's got the he's
- 38:31got the creative juices flowing again. Like of course he does, because he's
- 38:35got Ryan Reynolds in his back pocket. But yeah, it's just it's just
- 38:39like, what, like, where are they going? I guessually I don't
- 38:43want him to continue out with the Skywalker stuff and it's done great, Just
- 38:45give me a bunch of other things because you want. Okay, here's the
- 38:49problem, if anything, this is the issue. What is Lord of the
- 38:52Ring's biggest problem right now? Not content? Oh you're talking Amazon, Well
- 38:59no, that's literally the problem is not of concept. But the problem is
- 39:02they're trying to figure out ways. Now obviously it all revolves around the rain,
- 39:06which makes sense, but they are trying to find all these little ways
- 39:08to make it go. Here's the Shire or here's riven Dale. It's like,
- 39:14just give me a story in that universe, in that lore. Yeah,
- 39:19because that's been Star Wars' problems, Like they slowly are making this giant
- 39:22galaxy smaller and smaller every single day they make little hod's like oh yeah,
- 39:27like Hans Sol, look you said, Hansul. It's like, like,
- 39:29dude, you're in a giant galaxy. Why do the people love the game
- 39:32so much? Because you're taking people to other planets and other things where like
- 39:36they don't mention any of these fucking dudes, and it's all actually connected.
- 39:40They say, yeah, this is all part of the universe, like we
- 39:43consider this can and stuff like that, and that's why when, by the
- 39:45way, spoiler the game came out like five years ago, sue me.
- 39:51When Darth Vader appears at the end of Jedi Survivor or falling Overder, what
- 39:53happens, the entire world flipped the fuck out aways in a for two minutes.
- 40:02The entire planet freaked out because it was one of those things like less
- 40:07is more, but it's like, oh, hey, we're not gonna shove
- 40:08this down your throat. And AD's a problem with lowd of the rings like
- 40:10if you watch the Amazon show, Oh yeah, that's uh, that's not
- 40:16there's there's other things wrong with it. There's other things wrong with it.
- 40:20There's a reason, there's a reason we didn't do a sort of review for
- 40:23I was literally just about to say, like I was trying to think,
- 40:27did we do we did not. I'm like, I think I think we
- 40:32texted a bit about it. Yeah, not doing it by time. But
- 40:38and now apparently they're trying to course correct and make the show different but also
- 40:44more intriguing, and the problem with Star was like like, and that's why
- 40:47everone's so hyper show, because it's like it's something completely different. It's something
- 40:51out of the walm. It's weird. It's not We're not gonna be like
- 40:52like if anything I enjoyed, like obviously okay, spoiler, yes, yodamate.
- 40:58It came out the end shocking. The guy who's six thousand years old
- 41:01when he dies makes a cameo when he's five thousand years old or five thousand,
- 41:06nine hundred years old. Shocking. But the problem was, I can't
- 41:09tell you I lost count the thing. I hate it, and I get
- 41:13why they did it. I get why they did it when all these book
- 41:15up conn with the jetting go one of the days days one of these jets
- 41:19and overpower all of you and take over everything. We heard it five times.
- 41:23Yeah, the repetition, like it's one of those little things like we're
- 41:28men're referencing man again. It's like, we know, stop and here's the
- 41:32thing, Like it's been proven like that just doing political shit in shows,
- 41:37which is funny. Now if anything was kind of foreshoting with us about politics
- 41:39doing the political shit in shows. It can't work, Okay, people,
- 41:44I know people who think that like the show of Sopranos is just a show
- 41:46where people are getting whacked every fucking episode. It's not, if anything,
- 41:51it was a big fucking deal. I think it was only like seven people.
- 41:54If so, you think like ten seasons seven people, it's not a
- 41:58lot. I think Tony only killed six people the entire show, which is
- 42:04in sane he killed them, like yeah, but you know what, like
- 42:06look at fucking John Wick. He does that, and he does that when
- 42:07he sneezes. Yeah, he does that in half a scene, does it
- 42:12in half a second. But like Zaprino only killed like six people. Otherwise
- 42:15it's a bunch of like like not like bullshit, like like talking and like
- 42:17arguing stuff like that. And yeah, people get whacked every now and then.
- 42:21But show indor why is it so good? Because it's less is more?
- 42:23And then when it's a time for a big giant hes stealing chips extravaganza,
- 42:30it's fucking fantastic or mandalorian. Sure, it's more of an action paced
- 42:34show where there's fights and blast toys and shit like that, but like when
- 42:37you learn like why things are happening, it gets you more. I mean,
- 42:42if anything, that's why I mean, other than the fact that Grogo
- 42:44looked like baby Yoda in the fucking first place. That's why people got so
- 42:46invested in as a little fucking baby thing, because other than the fact he's
- 42:49adorable as hell, it's like, what is the point of this? Like
- 42:52why are they trying to take him? And you learn the story and it
- 42:53gets you more invested, but also there's no reference to fucking Luke Skywalk or
- 42:59anything. Sure, yeah, he shows up later and later, way later
- 43:01in the show, but guess what, because they didn't mention his name five
- 43:04thousand fucking times to see him like Dervator and Fallen order. What happened?
- 43:10Everyone freaked the fuck out and now here we say nothing's wrong. There was
- 43:15a camera which I'll talk to you about in a second, where I'm gonna
- 43:20say twenty five percent of the audience freaked out, including myself. Yeah,
- 43:24I I was a friend of mine texting me who the fuck is that?
- 43:30And come on? And then I literally sent him the Palpatine gift where he
- 43:37looks to the left and he goes he goes like oh no ship, yeah,
- 43:42fucking dog plays motherfuer come, which about I did not I expected.
- 43:52I want to say, I'm not gonna say expect a Palpatine. I expected
- 43:53some kind of reference because I'm like, well, let me kind of makes
- 43:55sense. We're kind of like getting the know it's assist show. We're in
- 43:58that timeline, but like it's as I saw the hand, I'm like,
- 44:00na, they're not gonna have the balls to do it. And then then
- 44:05and again, here's the thing. I'm a guy who I don't like when
- 44:12and I get why places do it. I don't like when places use cameos
- 44:15as a way to like try to make a show better unless it affects the
- 44:17story. In this case Yoda and Plagas, it can't affect the story if
- 44:21they could tune down the story. I thought it was tasteful. Yes,
- 44:24and that's why I was happy, because like, even if they weren't in
- 44:27this episode, I still would have liked the finale. I mean not as
- 44:30much, but like I mean, obviously edded some liking I head to it,
- 44:35but to me, it's just like, as much as I like the
- 44:38finale, it also discrewed. To me, Oh, this is just a
- 44:40giant ploy of wait for season two. When it's like, is there gonna
- 44:44be a season two? They kind of have to honestly know with how they
- 44:49ended. They have to Yeah, manager, they never talk about this accolite
- 44:53thing again. Managine they just say, Nope, we're moving on pretty big.
- 44:59What's the word? Oh, what do you call it? When you
- 45:02end a season with a Cliffhainder? Pretty big? I literally want to say,
- 45:06what's what's the cliff Fader called pretty hid? Cliff Fader? At the
- 45:07end of you go gee, I wonder what they're gonna do next, because
- 45:10here's the thing. You can't just be like, Okay, cool, we're
- 45:13gonna do this ray movie now, which takes place like two undred years after
- 45:15this. It's like, what happened with plagis I, with the Twins?
- 45:17We've been with everything else? What happened with the Jedi? Literally lying to
- 45:22the Senate saying, uh uh yeah the Jedi. I didn't know anything wrong
- 45:24here, when actually they did a lot wrong with good intentions. Yeah.
- 45:30Well, my thing was, uh, what is it Minestra, Finestra the
- 45:37Green Lady, Uh it is Finestra or something like that. It's gonna hold
- 45:42on. I literally have it up right here, yeah, Vernestra, Yes,
- 45:47Yeah, Like I was trying to figure out without looking it up.
- 45:52I mean I might have to not unless you know it. Like I was
- 45:54trying to figure out like who she was in the story because like the entire
- 45:59time, like you knew she was powerful because of her position and how she
- 46:04like never did anything, like she was always like too powerful to do anything,
- 46:07that kind of thing. But then obviously she fought her padawan, which
- 46:15Plague is turned or is training whatever the stranger guy. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 46:22But then you know at the end when Yoda's shown and she goes master,
- 46:27like it seemed like she was at the top of the Jedi order,
- 46:30but then she calls Yoda Master. Like you know, I was trying to
- 46:35figure out who she is, so I mean just based on like rankings again,
- 46:39I guess she just would be like a senior member and then Yoda obviously
- 46:43is a master, but maybe he's like the grand Master and she's just like
- 46:47the highest ranking person below that. Yeah, like if anything, like what
- 46:51is it is a journal which one's higher general or colonel general general? Just
- 46:55Yoda's general and she's a colonel, you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 47:00like you you're not gonna you're not gonna have You're not gonna have you know,
- 47:02uh lieutenant or uh you know or you know, rookie. Essentially,
- 47:07you know, go to the general, go hey, I have this idea.
- 47:09It's like, no, you gotta you gotta, you gotta, you
- 47:10gotta talk through the grape vines. You know, you gotta pass it on.
- 47:14Somehow it works here, which is a little weird though, because considering
- 47:19that, like essentially, like in the movies, like the Jedi councils just
- 47:22everywhere and wee go talk to remember how they want. Yeah, so stage
- 47:28are back one hundred years prior. But do you know the muffin Man.
- 47:32No, No, like Plagus and the Stranger because like obviously the rule too,
- 47:42right, right, but if you're learning, come on, dude.
- 47:47But like if Stranger takes on Osha, right, then there's three. Right.
- 47:54But what always happens with any with any Sith, they always turn on
- 47:58each other. Yeah, so kill strangers because because it's the intention. Hm
- 48:02hmm yep. Okay, we'll train you and they we're gonna go kill our
- 48:05master together and then we'll take a role. I mean, that's just that's
- 48:07just how it is. Them. Sith don't like each other. They don't
- 48:12they don't like they don't even like each other. They don't even like themselves.
- 48:20Yeah, I mean, here's the thing, the fight scenes, and
- 48:22that's the thing with as obviously as time has you know, continued on like
- 48:27the choreography and just not even just Star Wars, and everything's gone way better
- 48:30because like you know, like watch like like I talked about it before,
- 48:32there's that famous video the guy like recreated the ben Kenobi Darth Vader fight from
- 48:37New Hope where you like added like you know, he added like actual like
- 48:40insane lightsaber battleships in between just a little like the whethery're like they're like generally
- 48:47touching their lightsaber tips for twenty minutes compared to now. But I mean,
- 48:54I will say though, there were some scenes throughout the series where you could
- 49:04see one of the people literally freeze in order to like let the other person
- 49:10do something cool. Yeah, and that that bugged me. Yeah, there
- 49:15were definitely some like pro wrestlings, it's like, all right, now,
- 49:17you do your move, I'll through my mind. It was like, no,
- 49:20like just do And that's the thing. There is some giant inconsistencies,
- 49:24a monst words amongst like these projects because like not even okay, not even
- 49:35just like just like the looks like obviously you can shoot them differently. But
- 49:37it's just like if I were to give someone, if you were to show
- 49:43someone a movie from Marvel, Okay, let's you know, obviously, like
- 49:46you you can have Okay, let's say let's do like Guardians of the Galaxy
- 49:50and uh Captain America two Couplearly different stories can require completely different like styles and
- 49:58effects. However they look like they're made by the same exact people because they
- 50:02are. Yeah, but with some of these Star Wars projects, it's just
- 50:06like you look, it's just like quality and like camera and over with other
- 50:09things, you're just like, wait, what this looks? This looks so
- 50:12honestly, there's some familiarity with with like the higher production value, right,
- 50:16but with with somebody Star Wars shows, there isn't and it's just like what's
- 50:20going on here? Yeah, no, they gotta they gotta figure that out.
- 50:27I mean, it's like, hey, it is what it is with
- 50:30some of this shit, unfortunately. But like at the same time too,
- 50:35it's like you guys, just here's here's the thing with Star Wars and there's
- 50:39a fair argument they can make. They get criticized now because they they they're
- 50:44known as like Okay, go on in and make an announcement just for you
- 50:46to cancel it later on, which I assume they're trying to get away from,
- 50:51which you hope they would. But yeah, it's just like it's just
- 50:57patience or anything. But like the problem is, like people don't have pain,
- 51:00and it's like why should we even known how much stuff? And yet
- 51:04it just keeps getting canceled or it never gets made, or if it is
- 51:07made, it's half assed money grow right. I mean, yeah, some
- 51:12people like it, you know what I mean, Like, but it's entertaining.
- 51:15But the problem is is like Star Wars is supposed to be like a
- 51:20think where it's like no matter what, it's like, oh, this is
- 51:21gonna be good. Yeah, but not not only that point, like that's
- 51:24a great point, but also I am not texting anyone hey go watch the
- 51:31show. Oh god no, it's not like it's not like wait, okay,
- 51:36perfect example, How's of the Dragon? There are literally I can think
- 51:42of three different occasions where you can go on social media and there's literally people
- 51:47like in New York Chicago. I think mainly New York is the fame or
- 51:51famous one where literally a guy is outside his apartment building in New York City,
- 51:55nine o'clock at night and he's recording his building, and every single window
- 52:00is open, and every single TV is on, and they're all changing colors
- 52:04the exact same cloud everything to go. Why because they're all watching Thrones.
- 52:12You don't hear that with Star Wars anymore. Now here's the thing. They're
- 52:15going more towards going back to the theaters, which they should. That's the
- 52:16bread and butter. But like the problem and this is, and this is
- 52:21what Marvel's now trying to do, thankfully, is like the quality of your
- 52:27Obviously, the quality of productions be different regardless of you do on TV or
- 52:30a movie, no matter what that's given. But in terms of your storytelling,
- 52:35that should still remain the same. Like if you're a top notch company
- 52:37like a HBO, every time I turn that thing on, I know I'm
- 52:43at least getting above half ass. Yeah, with some of these Star Wars
- 52:47shows, you don't know anything. I like them. I like them all.
- 52:50I Like I said, for me, this was the weaker of all
- 52:52of them. So that's why I'm gonna have my opinion, Like kind of
- 52:54like a down opinion on it. But I can also say that, like
- 52:58I, I was a low disappointed with how we want to bat turned out.
- 53:01But there's a lot more. There's a I liked it a lot more
- 53:04than in parts I didn't dislike. I'm shock the fact that people don't talk
- 53:07to the fact the fact that Darth Vader literally pulled the kid out of the
- 53:08window the force and stamped his neck. Yet yet people freak out when Game
- 53:15of Thrones when the first episode spoiler a kid gets pushed down the castle because
- 53:19he finds some very disturbing Yes, yes, if you if you're not,
- 53:27you know, I've seen the first episode, you know, think I would
- 53:29so doing step brother. Yeah, I was trying to think something that would
- 53:38be safe to say. Hey, like I said that Fat's really safe.
- 53:44Fine here trying not to make it too obvious, but yeah, there isn't
- 53:49there's there's a that's a problem with him. There's a huge inconsistency because,
- 53:52for example, and Or and I'm a couple of times, and in this
- 53:54show, you watch and Or, then you watch the show back to back.
- 53:58It looks like two littly different shows made by two complete different companies.
- 54:02And it's just like what, Yeah, it's different takes on what Star Wars
- 54:07should be rather than it being Star You can't have different like styles and takes.
- 54:12But like and the story, like you could really kid say, like
- 54:15what what's the story of Echo? If it takes place for anything? True?
- 54:20But like the story itself, here's okay, here's the problem with the
- 54:22show. This is an eight This was an eight episode series that was in
- 54:28mostly like what forty minutes tops. I think the longest one was like forty
- 54:31four This this literally could have been two episodes. You could have done this
- 54:36entire show. You could have done this show. You could have done this
- 54:37show in an hour and a half movie. You could have. Yeah,
- 54:43and because there were some parts on like like like there were some episodes where
- 54:46it's like okay, we were like I really I don't need to know for
- 54:51I don't need to know for the fifth time that what the whatever the hell
- 54:53that weasel animal thing was was in the ships? We get it. I've
- 54:58seen them six times. It's a little it's a little fun comedy effect.
- 55:00But like the sixth time, like he appears like I have a corner.
- 55:02It's like, okay, so I know, like we opened with our ratings.
- 55:09But honestly, like once you talked about making a movie, I've been
- 55:15thinking like if this was a two to our movie and they treated it like
- 55:21a Star Wars movie, or like, you know, what are they doing
- 55:25with the shit the Blue guy Thane the thron It's like kind of what they're
- 55:34doing with like his movie where it's going to be a movie, right,
- 55:37but it's going to give us the story and kind of set it up slash
- 55:43connect it to the overall Star Wars universe. Like if they had done something
- 55:46like that with the Alcoholite, I think that would have been a lot better
- 55:51than the show. And I truly believe that, you know, we would
- 55:58have kept the cool say scenes and probably even maybe honed up some of the
- 56:04the issues we were talking about earlier. But also I feel like the dialogue
- 56:07and just the connectivity within that story would have been more congruent, and then
- 56:15they probably would would have been able to kind of connect it to the greater
- 56:17Star Wars universal a little better as well, with you know those cameos or
- 56:22with like maybe slightly more eluding to like the tastefully eluding rather than you know,
- 56:31like you said name bombing here. Yeah, like again, like they
- 56:36showing Darth players should be like that. They're like people didn't freak out,
- 56:38Like that should be a bigger deal than it's it's been. I was literally
- 56:44eating for that scene and I almost missed it because I looked down to grab
- 56:47my food. Well because again it's like five seconds. Yeah, but like
- 56:52it's one of those things where like again I hate to say, it's like
- 56:54a suit like I was just like because I was like, all right,
- 56:59like I'm thinking, like, okay, are they in the show? Like
- 57:00where are they gonna go with the twins because obviously they're going to We're going
- 57:05to the big final battles scene. And it was like darth Plagus came.
- 57:07I'm like, you know, we can do a season two Yeah there it
- 57:12is, Yeah, like you can. I guess, I guess you can
- 57:15come over. I guess, yeah you don't. Let's sprinkle a little bit
- 57:20of Yoda too, a little little green guy. Yea. Anyway, all
- 57:24right, so no, and here's the last thing we'll say, because then
- 57:30I appreciate you coming on a little bit later your time. They are making
- 57:37a focus back on the movie theaters, which is good because movie theater industry
- 57:42is booming. I don't, you don't, you don't. Like again,
- 57:45there's a reason that why I think it's it's a twenty twenty five or IM
- 57:49pretty sure it's twenty six. Like I know I've joked about here that there's
- 57:53no ideas and how anymore because now they're doing like a Shrek, they're doing
- 57:55Truck five, Toy Story five. But I'm like, m there's a reason
- 58:00why they're all putting these movies in the theaters is because they know they're like
- 58:04a fuck load of money. But like Star Wars blonds in the theater and
- 58:09like what's gonna interesting unfortunately is like they announce so many things that end up
- 58:13don't go on production. It's like what does get into production? And that's
- 58:15why I think again it's like I think Marble's going back to the like the
- 58:17less is more quality over quantity, as I said, which is what Marvel
- 58:23needs to do. Star Wars need to kind of go more with the quality
- 58:25or the quantity because like the problem well here's the thing, Ah well let
- 58:30me finish only finish way you can say, well, the quality right now
- 58:32isn't great. You have the problem is the quantity themoditor thin gets announced that
- 58:36actually comes out is fucking stupid. Okay, I give you that. No,
- 58:40here's the thing. I hope these things are coming out are good.
- 58:44I really do, because here's the thing we have the I think and the
- 58:46next thing I've come out this year is that Skeleton Crew show, which is
- 58:49supposed to be like the Star Wars version of the Goonies, and people are
- 58:52like, wait, star Wars version the Goods. I don't like. I
- 58:54feel like that could be fun, like you know what I mean, like
- 58:58it could bear this I'm gonna say, but having like like like having a
- 59:00bunch of misfit like kids trying to go steal some ship, like come on,
- 59:04like that's all like every show Okay you're saying, you're saying every fucking
- 59:07episode does need to be fucking Jedi. M hm. You know what,
- 59:10you know, what if these fucking kids having the walk across fucking Luke Skywalker
- 59:14episode? Fine, but every episode where it's like, all right, have
- 59:16my lightsaber, here's the force, like we get it again. It's why
- 59:22love andor that's why I love Mandalorian. There's not much Jedi shit and it's
- 59:28extra cool ye right again, less is more, just get take the jet.
- 59:32You know, the Jedi need to take a break, cool off,
- 59:35go away, going going xil for a while, and then when we bring
- 59:37you out in like five years from now for the Race Skywalker movie. Okay,
- 59:42this is cool. So with me, I don't think actually get my
- 59:46rating, So I will I said, this was the weakers of the shows
- 59:50for me from terms of Disney Plus shows. So I will give this.
- 59:58I'm gonna give this show five Sith interrupted baths out of head only if people
- 1:00:09will get that. So but the Mantic, but the Mantic a fucking bath.
- 1:00:16I will say, Yeah that, Uh, we're pretty lined, you
- 1:00:21know, in that middle middle tier range, right, I mean like for
- 1:00:24me, like the choreography, like again it was just some of the dialogue,
- 1:00:28Like I honestly like hm hm to me, it was just so and
- 1:00:30he was like like the episode three for me, like I was like,
- 1:00:36this was not needed. I get telling the lore of where they came from.
- 1:00:38I get all that, but like you could have done that in five
- 1:00:44minutes. Yeah, flashbacks one flashback scene or you know holng I literally had
- 1:00:47right your home loan was this episode? Was that the thirty six minute one?
- 1:00:52I think it was? Yeah, honestly, Yeah, if you're making
- 1:00:57a TV show that's not strictly thirty minute, it's you need to at least
- 1:01:01hit forty five, right bare minimum. Yeah, I know they, like
- 1:01:07I said, they need to obviously, like the biggest thing the guy figure
- 1:01:09out is the writing. But also like again these episode these shows being like
- 1:01:15Okay, I would rather watch an hour episode that sucks than a third twenty
- 1:01:21five minut episode where I'm like, oh, here we go, it's something.
- 1:01:22Oh wait, it just got started because I honestly that was a probable
- 1:01:27effect. It started like some of so it started to get really good.
- 1:01:29It's like oh in we're crying out. Yeah, especially when you're only released
- 1:01:32in one episode a week, right, which I'm all for. I'm all
- 1:01:36for one episode a week, but ye, like I'm sorry, Like like
- 1:01:38literally, here's the thing. It's not just Game of Thrones HBO literal lid
- 1:01:44out the blueprint. You want good television, make it an hour. Oh
- 1:01:47you can't think of it, But it gives your writers time to tell a
- 1:01:52story in every episode, which builds on the grad story because they're in some
- 1:01:57episodes like it's sarch like like with like the third one especially like trying to
- 1:02:00playing like the Twins, Like you're trying to rush an hour of story in
- 1:02:01twenty minutes, but you'll show us ten minutes of credits. Yeah, oh
- 1:02:08what they need credits, last thing, and then won't really get out of
- 1:02:12here. If you old bitching about the song, shut up. That sounds
- 1:02:16a banner. Yeah, Twins song, that's as a banner. Oh there's
- 1:02:22pop music in here. What the fuck do you think they can't see?
- 1:02:25This song was fucking forty five fifty years ago. Yeah, that was,
- 1:02:30you know, a hot take, and now look at it, it's iconic.
- 1:02:34Yeah, that song was a banner. I liked it a lot.
- 1:02:37It's on my Playlist's a drude is on my playlist Because you lose, like,
- 1:02:38wait till you see the credits. I'm like somebody happening to guess this.
- 1:02:42Listen to the song and I'm like, okay, this isn't John or
- 1:02:45Ludwig. Yes, I know the composers. I'm like, okay, Like,
- 1:02:49oh, it's actually actually there's actually a pop song with words like okay,
- 1:02:52I we're going on this road. And it was good. But you
- 1:02:55know, if you actually listen to the lyrics, it makes sense. To
- 1:03:00star about twins. What's a show about twins, Twins, Basil Twins,
