- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:10Speaker 2: He's the NFL Power Rankings Show, presented to you by Energizer.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Let's take the show on the road. No longer are we.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Separated Eric at home by two thousand miles LA in Chicago. No,
- 0:23Speaker 2: we're actually here together at the seventy fifth Reese's Senior
- 0:28Speaker 2: Bowling after day one of practice.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Why don't we just do this like this?
- 0:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so much better this way. The connection is.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Real, it is. It's good to see you.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Good to see you too.
- 0:36Speaker 3: All right, we did the fist pump, all right, I'm
- 0:38Speaker 3: on the screen here.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Only four teams that made it to the final weekend here,
- 0:43Speaker 2: so much so that we didn't even make Eric write
- 0:46Speaker 2: an article on your top four teams, including two that
- 0:50Speaker 2: are making it to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl
- 0:53Speaker 2: are as follows.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Shockingly, the two teams.
- 0:56Speaker 2: That make it Vegas for Super Bowl fifty eight are
- 0:58Speaker 2: Teams one and two. The Niners are one, the Chiefs
- 1:01Speaker 2: are two, followed by the Ravens and then the Troit Lions.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I don't know how we sift through all of this,
- 1:09Speaker 2: but let's do it here and let's talk about your
- 1:12Speaker 2: number one team, Eric. It's a team that spent nine
- 1:16Speaker 2: weeks at number one, more than the Ravens, more than
- 1:20Speaker 2: the other two there, and one that eventually is representing
- 1:23Speaker 2: the NFC.
- 1:24Speaker 3: But not without a lot of difficulty.
- 1:26Speaker 2: In the postseason, we had the Packers, could have, would have,
- 1:30Speaker 2: should have yep, beating them in the Division A round
- 1:32Speaker 2: after they had gone into Dallas and beaten the Cowboys.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And then we had the forty nine Ers needing to
- 1:37Speaker 2: rally from down seventeen at the half yea to somehow
- 1:42Speaker 2: pull it out and to end the lions amazing run.
- 1:45Speaker 3: They are still your number one team.
- 1:47Speaker 5: They are, and for good reason. Obviously the first half
- 1:50Speaker 5: didn't look so great. You know, Detroit was the dominant team,
- 1:53Speaker 5: but I love you know, after the game, both here
- 1:56Speaker 5: and from Rock Purty and Kyle Shanahan both sort of
- 1:58Speaker 5: saying like, it's okay, we're down seventeen, we can win
- 2:01Speaker 5: this thing. And I think that attitude has kind of
- 2:03Speaker 5: helped them this year. I think had that three game
- 2:05Speaker 5: losing streak in the season where they didn't play all
- 2:07Speaker 5: that well but had a chance to win two of them,
- 2:10Speaker 5: and you know, we saw obviously, in these two playoff games,
- 2:12Speaker 5: when they come alive in the fourth quarter, they can
- 2:14Speaker 5: beat anybody in the NFL.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I think, you know, it's interesting because a lot of
- 2:18Speaker 2: people picked the Niners and the Chiefs before the season.
- 2:20Speaker 2: They were two chalk selections because they were two great teams.
- 2:24Speaker 2: The route that each team took to get here is interesting,
- 2:28Speaker 2: a route again that included the Niners being down seventeen
- 2:32Speaker 2: and included in the first half.
- 2:35Speaker 3: We see the fourth quarter here when they put it away,
- 2:37Speaker 3: but in the first half they were getting bullied. Oh,
- 2:39Speaker 3: Dan Campbellton came in and bullied them. They were the
- 2:42Speaker 3: more physical team until they weren't.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Yeah, this was a concern of mine. Obviously he's still
- 2:47Speaker 5: heading into the Super Bowl. I think you have to
- 2:49Speaker 5: worry again, can the Chiefs win that line of scrimmage
- 2:52Speaker 5: and all that. But yeah, I mean the first half
- 2:53Speaker 5: was pretty ugly.
- 2:54Speaker 4: We saw the.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Deficiencies and the run defense. We saw the offensive line
- 2:58Speaker 5: not opening holes. So it was really a physical win
- 3:02Speaker 5: for Detroit. And then again that script did flip and look,
- 3:06Speaker 5: I mean I think they can be dominate at times.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Listen, we see Rock Purty there and we see his
- 3:09Speaker 2: family yep. Can we get over the waiting for him
- 3:13Speaker 2: to fail thing?
- 3:13Speaker 3: Now?
- 3:13Speaker 2: I admittedly did say last week that if Purdy hadn't
- 3:16Speaker 2: rallied them back against the Packers, and the narrative would
- 3:19Speaker 2: have been if they had gotten pushed out of the playoffs,
- 3:21Speaker 2: well what do you do now? Cora's gonna move on,
- 3:23Speaker 2: And honestly, to be fair, I still think we sit
- 3:26Speaker 2: on that edge every week. But I think that is
- 3:29Speaker 2: unfair to brock Purty. Why can't we celebrate the mister
- 3:35Speaker 2: irrelevant to Super Bowl story? Why do we have to
- 3:38Speaker 2: sit here and nitpick his game and wait for him
- 3:41Speaker 2: to fail?
- 3:42Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 3:43Speaker 5: I think there's a reasonable debate to be had about
- 3:45Speaker 5: where he sits on the quarterback hierarchy. There Is he
- 3:48Speaker 5: a low end starter? No, I don't think so. Does
- 3:51Speaker 5: he play like one sometimes?
- 3:52Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 3:53Speaker 4: Is he a superstar?
- 3:54Speaker 2: No?
- 3:54Speaker 5: I don't think so either. But somewhere in the middle
- 3:56Speaker 5: there is a very good quarterback who can be a
- 3:58Speaker 5: little bit inconsistent from time to time, but also make plays,
- 4:02Speaker 5: especially Andrew with his legs in the fourth quarters, second half,
- 4:05Speaker 5: certainly against the lines. I really thought that was the
- 4:08Speaker 5: difference in the game. Those three or four long scrambles,
- 4:11Speaker 5: especially the one on third and four from the forty nine.
- 4:13Speaker 5: You stop him there, Detroit has a much better chance
- 4:15Speaker 5: of winning. They did not and win. Know how it
- 4:18Speaker 5: ended up.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It's a guy that is not known for his legs,
- 4:20Speaker 2: but when he needs to use him, he can. He
- 4:22Speaker 2: had a twenty one yard scramble there, and you said
- 4:23Speaker 2: low end. You know what, I'll quote tribe call quest
- 4:26Speaker 2: the low end theory. I like his low end theory here.
- 4:30Speaker 2: And he is going to the super Bowl as a
- 4:32Speaker 2: quote unquote mister irrelevant and he's got to face the
- 4:34Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs, a team making power moves, presented to
- 4:39Speaker 2: you by Energizer Power Moves, because they went on the
- 4:43Speaker 2: road here, Eric, they won in Buffalo, they won in Baltimore,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and they are checks the notes up two spots. They're
- 4:50Speaker 2: the biggest mover this week.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I know we only have four teams.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Hey, look that is a power move when you get
- 4:55Speaker 4: down to the final four.
- 4:56Speaker 5: And you know, even heading out of the game, we
- 4:58Speaker 5: heard Joe Tooney wasn't gonna play. It was gonna be
- 5:00Speaker 5: Nick Alaghretti, no Canarius Tony, other guys banged up. I
- 5:04Speaker 5: really had my doubts, but for whatever reason, Baltimore got
- 5:07Speaker 5: out of character offensively and the Chiefs took advantage, scoring
- 5:10Speaker 5: on those first two drives and then that turnover to
- 5:13Speaker 5: kind of put him in a tough spot. I know
- 5:14Speaker 5: they didn't score after that, but just kept him in
- 5:17Speaker 5: arms distance the entire game. And the Patrick Mahomes factor
- 5:20Speaker 5: and the defense Steve Spagnolo in Steve, they trust. That
- 5:23Speaker 5: has been the theme of this game, and I think
- 5:25Speaker 5: the theme of the season.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I had a conversation with some people last night here
- 5:28Speaker 2: in Mobile. All the NFL decision makers are here, and
- 5:31Speaker 2: a late night conversation in a local watering hole about
- 5:35Speaker 2: Steve Spagnolo and how great a job he has done
- 5:38Speaker 2: in Spags We trust the T shirts there in the
- 5:40Speaker 2: locker room after.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Of the game.
- 5:41Speaker 2: You know, he was a head coach fifteen years ago
- 5:45Speaker 2: with the Saint Louis Ram.
- 5:47Speaker 3: The way his.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Defense is playing right now, you would think he'd get
- 5:49Speaker 2: another shot. I think he's content where he is. It's
- 5:52Speaker 2: as if Andy Reid has a second head coach there
- 5:55Speaker 2: and this is and there's six straight trips to the
- 5:57Speaker 2: conference championship game.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Their best defense by far.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yep.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Absolutely, And think about a generation two ago when when
- 6:05Speaker 5: he was in Philly, Andy Reid had great coordinators there
- 6:08Speaker 5: and he had the great Jim Johnson, who I think
- 6:09Speaker 5: had one head coaching interview in his life, just didn't
- 6:12Speaker 5: really want to be a head coach. So I think
- 6:14Speaker 5: we need to celebrate the Steve Spagnolo's of the world
- 6:17Speaker 5: and the job that he does. And you know, he's
- 6:19Speaker 5: been an integral part of their.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Success this season.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Think about how many times the offense struggled the defense
- 6:24Speaker 5: bailed him out. I think they're gonna have an excellent
- 6:26Speaker 5: chance to do some work against these Niners, as talent
- 6:29Speaker 5: as they.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Are, and an all around good guy, and he has
- 6:31Speaker 2: the talent on the edges there the corners, I mean
- 6:35Speaker 2: the perimeter. Yep, he doesn't have as much talent on
- 6:37Speaker 2: the edge as Charles Metta, who tore his acl in
- 6:39Speaker 2: that game. He will not be able to play in
- 6:40Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. His season is over. But they did
- 6:43Speaker 2: really kind of sort of what the Browns did Week ten,
- 6:46Speaker 2: who also have the corners. Right, We're gonna press you,
- 6:48Speaker 2: we're gonna jam you, we're gonna make you throw over
- 6:50Speaker 2: the top. Go ahead, if you do it, you do it,
- 6:52Speaker 2: And We're gonna come right at you. We're gonna run blitz,
- 6:54Speaker 2: We're going to stop that run. The Ravens had the
- 6:56Speaker 2: number one run game in the NFL. They abandoned it
- 6:59Speaker 2: early because that defense took it right to them.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Yep, yep.
- 7:03Speaker 5: I thought it was criminal for what the Ravens did.
- 7:05Speaker 5: We can talk about that later, but obviously I think
- 7:08Speaker 5: the Chiefs sort of played it by year and did
- 7:10Speaker 5: a really good job. And obviously clutch plays like this, right,
- 7:12Speaker 5: you know, you get burned on a long catch and
- 7:15Speaker 5: then all of a sudden, Lugerius sneed one of the
- 7:17Speaker 5: best corners in the NFL.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Is he gonna make money? Is he gonna make money
- 7:20Speaker 3: in free agency come March eleven?
- 7:22Speaker 4: If he doesn't, it is criminal he will so yes,
- 7:24Speaker 4: the answer is yes.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah. The future is bright. Look for the Ravens.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Eight Flowers put together a very good year. He simply
- 7:29Speaker 2: did not have his best day despite the early touchdown.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Let's turn now to those Ravens.
- 7:34Speaker 2: They are in your final four, ranked three, the two
- 7:39Speaker 2: losers of the conference championship games coming in at three
- 7:42Speaker 2: and four. We say every year that no team is
- 7:46Speaker 2: going to be the same when the season ends right
- 7:48Speaker 2: like this. This group is breaking up here Baltimore O'Dell
- 7:51Speaker 2: Beckham junior one year contract. They paid him sixteen million.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Don't know if he is going to be back. Really
- 7:55Speaker 2: wasn't used a lot down the stretch.
- 7:58Speaker 3: JK. Dobbins wasn't here.
- 8:00Speaker 2: He too, is heading into free agency after a September injury.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Had your queen is going to be a free agent here?
- 8:07Speaker 2: They paid roponk and they paid two linebackers. The answer
- 8:10Speaker 2: is unlikely to do that.
- 8:13Speaker 3: This just feels like such a horrible.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Missed opportunity for a team that dominated playoff competition during
- 8:21Speaker 2: the regular.
- 8:22Speaker 5: Season yep, and looked great in the second half, dominated
- 8:25Speaker 5: the Texans, and everybody felt like this was setting up
- 8:27Speaker 5: for kind of their coronation of sorts. But I gotta
- 8:31Speaker 5: say it, I thought Todd Munkins play calling was a
- 8:32Speaker 5: little curious, off curious.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Look, you get the running back the ball six times, right,
- 8:37Speaker 2: not the first quarter, the entire game.
- 8:39Speaker 5: Yes, Gus Edwards, three carries, three handoffs, one or one catchup.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I believe you are the number one rushing offense in
- 8:45Speaker 2: football against the number eighteen rush defense.
- 8:47Speaker 4: I don't get it.
- 8:48Speaker 5: I tried not to think of it this way, but
- 8:50Speaker 5: it almost felt like they were trying to bust a narrative.
- 8:52Speaker 4: About how they win games. Right. You mentioned the run.
- 8:55Speaker 5: As sort of their bread and butter, but it was
- 8:57Speaker 5: almost like they came out trying to prove they could
- 8:59Speaker 5: win with Lamar's arm, winning it and throwing in a
- 9:02Speaker 5: different way than they did during the season.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I just didn't get it.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Edwards was great on a per touch bit basis, but
- 9:08Speaker 5: just didn't get enough.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Give them ball, this is what they do again. The
- 9:11Speaker 2: Chiefs had the personnel to match up. They have Trent McDuffie,
- 9:14Speaker 2: they have Lujerious Snead, they have the talent on the perimeter.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Lamar was great this year in the pocket. It helped
- 9:22Speaker 2: to have Mark Andrews back, but he had some drop
- 9:24Speaker 2: passes early. They didn't seem in sync, you know, when
- 9:28Speaker 2: they went forward and fourth down. Then the next play
- 9:29Speaker 2: came back and ran Guss for maybe fifteen or twenty.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I thought, all right, there it is. There it is.
- 9:33Speaker 3: That's the Ravens teams turning it that we know.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And again, it's a what if here, because as much
- 9:41Speaker 2: as I love Lamar Jackson, this is is not going
- 9:44Speaker 2: to be like a disc track here. He's got to
- 9:47Speaker 2: win more in the postseason. He has, as Kyle Brant
- 9:50Speaker 2: pointed out on GMFB on Monday morning, he has now,
- 9:54Speaker 2: assuming he wins at Honors next week, as many MVPs
- 9:58Speaker 2: as playoff wins.
- 10:01Speaker 5: And this is almost it's probably the first time Lamar
- 10:03Speaker 5: Jackson and Peyton I've ever been compared. But you remember
- 10:06Speaker 5: how Manning's career started, right the questions about the playoffs
- 10:09Speaker 5: could he win? We don't have those now we've obviously
- 10:11Speaker 5: seen the second half of Peyton's career. I suspect that'll
- 10:14Speaker 5: be the same for Lamar. I think at some point
- 10:16Speaker 5: he's too gifted, too rare, too unusual not to succeed.
- 10:19Speaker 5: But right now that question is legitimate, it's fair, and
- 10:22Speaker 5: it's sort of being hung around his.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Neck a little.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And we need some playoff success in a very competitive
- 10:28Speaker 2: the best division from my money in football. The Browns
- 10:32Speaker 2: made it, the Ravens made it, the Steelers made it.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Obviously they were one and done. It might have been different.
- 10:39Speaker 2: You weren't going to get Foign, but look, Joe Burrow
- 10:41Speaker 2: got hurt down the stretch. Jay Brown came in and
- 10:43Speaker 2: played well. Regardless the Ravens move on to next year,
- 10:46Speaker 2: as do the Lions. And this is hard for me
- 10:48Speaker 2: because I kind of feel like the story in both
- 10:51Speaker 2: of these conference championship games as we've invested in the
- 10:54Speaker 2: future for Zenneby Fidelity, the future is bright for the Lions,
- 10:59Speaker 2: but again, much like the Ravens, it's the missed opportunities.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Dan Camp step to the podium when everyone questioned his
- 11:07Speaker 2: fourth down decisions, yeap and said, I just told.
- 11:09Speaker 3: The team we may never get back here, right.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Which hats off to you, Dan for the stone hard,
- 11:14Speaker 2: cold whatever you want to call it truth.
- 11:17Speaker 3: But man, they were this close. This was their chance.
- 11:21Speaker 5: I know, I really am of two minds here. The
- 11:23Speaker 5: ambivalence is strong because you think, Okay, they are young,
- 11:27Speaker 5: they have sixty one million in cap space next year,
- 11:29Speaker 5: they have four picks in the top three rounds, and
- 11:32Speaker 5: they have this young nucleus of talent. We just started
- 11:34Speaker 5: seeing guys like Jameson Williams start to break through. He
- 11:37Speaker 5: had a great game, great moments. But then on the
- 11:39Speaker 5: other side of the coin, you think every season, if
- 11:42Speaker 5: you get to that point and you miss, you have
- 11:44Speaker 5: to feel like the rug has been pulled out from
- 11:46Speaker 5: under you. And there is no guarantee that you're gonna
- 11:48Speaker 5: get back. So I know exactly how Dan Campbell feels
- 11:51Speaker 5: because it's the way I feel.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Sure.
- 11:52Speaker 5: I love the young talent. I think this team has
- 11:54Speaker 5: a lot more to left to say. But yeah, watching
- 11:58Speaker 5: that thing slip away and the way it slipped away,
- 12:00Speaker 5: Andrew with the drop passes, I thought, more so than
- 12:03Speaker 5: the fourth down decis decisions, to me, the fumble by
- 12:06Speaker 5: Gibbs and then also the fluky catch by Brandon and
- 12:09Speaker 5: I off the face backs and Kendallvilldor that those plays
- 12:14Speaker 5: to me were the ones that really really hurt the most.
- 12:16Speaker 2: And at that point, anyone launching like I know this
- 12:19Speaker 2: is over. Yeah, they're not going to do it like
- 12:22Speaker 2: I wish they did. People want to make Taylor Swift
- 12:25Speaker 2: the story this week. Now the story is how badly
- 12:27Speaker 2: everyone was rooting.
- 12:28Speaker 3: For the Lions.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I'm sorry, you know, are faithful America was rooting for
- 12:33Speaker 2: the Lions here And to your point about how difficult
- 12:36Speaker 2: it is, and Dan Campbell's point, how difficult it is
- 12:38Speaker 2: to get back, that is what always stays with you,
- 12:41Speaker 2: whether you're a fan, whether you're in the building, whether
- 12:43Speaker 2: you're a player or a coach or whatever.
- 12:45Speaker 3: The finality of these moments in the postseason. It is
- 12:48Speaker 3: so so.
- 12:51Speaker 2: So hard to get back yep, the amount of work
- 12:55Speaker 2: it takes and the number of breaks you need to
- 12:59Speaker 2: get back here. Man I tweeted after the game, like,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I am sorry, fan, I am truly, from the bottom
- 13:06Speaker 2: of my heart, I'm sorry.
- 13:08Speaker 5: And they're not the underdogs anymore. They're gonna have to
- 13:11Speaker 5: be the favorites next year. People are expecting the Detroit
- 13:14Speaker 5: Lions to be good, so they're gonna get everybody's best
- 13:16Speaker 5: game too. Another tough division to assuming the Bears keep
- 13:19Speaker 5: improving and Minnesota gets back to where they were. Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 5: this is gonna be tough.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Coming up, we're gonna rank the other twenty eight, just kidding.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Coming up with the two remaining, we're gonna go to
- 13:29Speaker 2: Vegas and rank our top five story lines for Super
- 13:32Speaker 2: Bowl fifty eight. That's next on the NFL Power Ranking
- 13:35Speaker 2: Show presented by Energizer. You're watching the NFL Power Ranking
- 13:44Speaker 2: Show presented by Energizer. A friendly reminder, we are on
- 13:47Speaker 2: the path to the Draft as we speak. Coming up
- 13:49Speaker 2: Thursday on NFL Network, the East West Shrine Bowl from
- 13:53Speaker 2: the Metroplex, The Reese's Senior Bowl where Eric and I
- 13:55Speaker 2: are here in Mobile is Saturday on the Network at
- 13:58Speaker 2: one pm Eastern Time, and then combine week crab Bory
- 14:02Speaker 2: two six presented by no We're going to be in
- 14:06Speaker 2: Indianapolis and also of course going to be in Las
- 14:09Speaker 2: Vegas as well for Super Bowl fifty eight at Allegian
- 14:13Speaker 2: Stadium just west of the Strip. We are ready for that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: We are ready as well. Not to rank teams anymore,
- 14:18Speaker 2: but to give you Eric's top five super Bowl storyline
- 14:25Speaker 2: starting with number five. He checks his notes without his glasses.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Can Andy Reid join the elite fraternity of three plus
- 14:31Speaker 2: Super Bowl winners Belichick, Noel, Gibbs, Walsh Reid.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a pretty good group to be a part
- 14:37Speaker 5: of if he can win that third Super Bowl. Obviously
- 14:39Speaker 5: Andy lost his first one, who was Eagles coach, but
- 14:41Speaker 5: since then, obviously a ton of success with the Chiefs,
- 14:44Speaker 5: brought them back to the game again and done different
- 14:47Speaker 5: versions of the Chiefs teams too. Kind of reminds me
- 14:50Speaker 5: of Belichick in the same way they won with defense,
- 14:52Speaker 5: then they won with Brady. They always had different identities
- 14:54Speaker 5: and to me this sort of puts him at a
- 14:56Speaker 5: different level. I mean, Andy Reid is a Hall of
- 14:58Speaker 5: Fame coach right now, but this would move him up
- 15:00Speaker 5: to the I don't know, super Hall of Fame.
- 15:02Speaker 3: What do we call it? The super Hall of Fame?
- 15:04Speaker 4: The elite.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Dion has always said, Dean Sanders, they need a special
- 15:10Speaker 2: VIP room at the whole.
- 15:11Speaker 4: I'd give Andy a key if he wins this.
- 15:13Speaker 2: That's me though, Can I can I add this to
- 15:16Speaker 2: it pathetically?
- 15:17Speaker 4: Here?
- 15:17Speaker 3: Maybe we could squeeze it in on the top of
- 15:19Speaker 3: the car. Does he retire if he was a good question.
- 15:22Speaker 5: I hadn't thought about that, but there's there's absolutely a
- 15:24Speaker 5: case they made that he could. And look, would be
- 15:27Speaker 5: the end of an era We've already talked about. Sabin
- 15:29Speaker 5: and Belichick and other coach is not going to be
- 15:31Speaker 5: part of the Pete Carroll.
- 15:33Speaker 4: If Andy Reid walked away, it truly would.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Be the dawn of a new era with all the
- 15:36Speaker 5: young coaches we have, and it would be sad, dude,
- 15:38Speaker 5: we would lose James.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Honestly, I don't think he would. I've talked to enough
- 15:43Speaker 2: people to think Eddie Reid.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Just what would he do?
- 15:46Speaker 4: You keep going?
- 15:46Speaker 2: Yeah, right, like the guy wants to coach. He's gonna
- 15:49Speaker 2: sit in his basement with an Hawaiian shirt drawing out plays.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Either ways, may as well go out there to the
- 15:53Speaker 2: field and hand him to Patrick Mahomes and say, hey,
- 15:55Speaker 2: what do you think of this? I don't think he's
- 15:58Speaker 2: going to retire, but it's and I werecenting to keep
- 16:00Speaker 2: an eye on and thank your pard number four Andie
- 16:02Speaker 2: and Eric wrote this Kelsey and the Squire against the
- 16:06Speaker 2: forty nine ers defense. Again, for the record, stop stop
- 16:12Speaker 2: hating Taylor's like if it's not about taylorfop. If you
- 16:15Speaker 2: don't like Taylor Swift, that's on you. Okay, it's on you.
- 16:19Speaker 2: That speaks more about you anyway.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I don't listen to.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Her music, but I have no problem with the young woman.
- 16:23Speaker 5: She's obviously brought a ton of attention to the NFL
- 16:25Speaker 5: into the key.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He's the most famous entertainer on this earth, right there,
- 16:29Speaker 2: you go, right, and.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Look, this synergy has worked out pretty well, right I mean,
- 16:33Speaker 5: they're winning games, they're.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Going to the super Bowl. She's got a show in
- 16:35Speaker 4: Tokyo that she has a very tight window.
- 16:37Speaker 3: Is gonna make it. I think it is the international dateline.
- 16:40Speaker 3: He explained the whole thing on game day morning.
- 16:41Speaker 2: We can do it because if it's a Saturday night,
- 16:43Speaker 2: it really is like a like Friday night, right, seventeen
- 16:46Speaker 2: hour different all Matt, you get it.
- 16:48Speaker 5: She's gonna be there, She's gonna support her man. And
- 16:50Speaker 5: I think obviously Travis Kelce on the field is going
- 16:52Speaker 5: to be a huge part of this game plan. You
- 16:54Speaker 5: know the forty nine ers, they have the secondary, they
- 16:57Speaker 5: have the linebackers to cover elite tight ends stuff. But
- 17:00Speaker 5: I still think he's gonna give him some trouble, especially
- 17:02Speaker 5: in the red zone. So what a great matchup against Kelsey,
- 17:06Speaker 5: and we know Mahomes has to go to him at
- 17:07Speaker 5: some point.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I said on NFL Game Day preview last week that
- 17:12Speaker 2: we'd have more Jim Harbaugh cutaways than Taylor Swift cutaways.
- 17:17Speaker 2: That was my Sunday statement. I almost was right because
- 17:20Speaker 2: it didn't really show her that much.
- 17:22Speaker 3: They didn't know how about to the CBS pregame show.
- 17:24Speaker 3: I digress. If you're sick of this topic already, I'm not.
- 17:27Speaker 2: By the way, I got twelve more days to talk
- 17:29Speaker 2: about it. Topic number three. Mahomes takes another step towards
- 17:32Speaker 2: goat status with a win remember when goat used to
- 17:35Speaker 2: meet the person that messed up.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Now means the greatest of all.
- 17:37Speaker 5: Time, as long as we capitalize its long we make
- 17:40Speaker 5: clear what we're saying here, Right, you can make a case, obviously,
- 17:43Speaker 5: like we did for Andy Reid, but this championship would
- 17:46Speaker 5: at least move him close to We always talk about
- 17:48Speaker 5: Brady and the rings and everything else, and I think
- 17:51Speaker 5: that's fair to mention. But you know, if we're just
- 17:54Speaker 5: talking quarterback talent, Patrick has to be up there amongst
- 17:57Speaker 5: the two or three.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Best ever, and you win a third super Bowl.
- 18:00Speaker 5: To go along with that, I think there's a legitimate
- 18:03Speaker 5: argument that he could finish his career the best quarterback
- 18:05Speaker 5: in the NFL history.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Listen, he doesn't have the six rings, yet he is
- 18:07Speaker 2: working towards that, and obviously he worships Brady and he
- 18:11Speaker 2: is working towards checking each in every one of those boxes.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And it's an impressive resume that he has got. I mean,
- 18:16Speaker 2: I don't know that he's ever going to meet it,
- 18:19Speaker 2: but I'll say this, he has what Brady has in
- 18:21Speaker 2: terms of being the immovable force, the immovable object with it,
- 18:24Speaker 2: not only his conference and maybe the entire league that
- 18:26Speaker 2: everyone has to go through Josh Allen hasn't done yet.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Joe Burrow did once to his credit. Obviously, Matthew Stafford
- 18:32Speaker 2: the beneficiary of that because he and the Rams won
- 18:35Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. But every year, right, you have to
- 18:38Speaker 2: go through Patrick Mahomes, and it's a Brady like effect.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It is, dare I say, Jordan like effect. You have
- 18:46Speaker 2: to go through that guy, and I don't feel uncomfortable
- 18:51Speaker 2: saying him in the same sentence. I know it's early,
- 18:53Speaker 2: he's only twenty eight. With those two other greats.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't. I mean, look, if he beats this
- 19:00Speaker 5: forty nine ers team we mentioned earlier, they've been the
- 19:02Speaker 5: top of the power rankings almost have to see, and
- 19:04Speaker 5: they've been a terrific team this year. If he does
- 19:06Speaker 5: that without having had the best season this year, winning
- 19:09Speaker 5: without your best stuff, I don't know what that's worth,
- 19:12Speaker 5: but to me, it's worth quite a bit. He's been
- 19:13Speaker 5: able to rally this team in ways that other quarterbacks
- 19:15Speaker 5: simply cannot.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I think Jordan as a younger man when they won
- 19:18Speaker 2: the other three at the end there at six and seven,
- 19:20Speaker 2: at eighty, he wasn't slashed into the basket anymore. He
- 19:23Speaker 2: was hitting that turnaround right from the corner and Mahomes
- 19:27Speaker 2: it's not the deep ball anymore. He's learning to beat
- 19:30Speaker 2: you in any in other ways, and he is doing it.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Number two, brock Perdy hopes to become the unlikeliest winning quarterback.
- 19:37Speaker 3: For a Super Bowl in years.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Trent Dilfer, maybe, I mean, but he was a higher
- 19:42Speaker 2: pick certainly than brock Perdy.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Rex Grossman almost won one. Obviously, didn't Payton you mentioned earlier? Did?
- 19:48Speaker 4: I mean?
- 19:48Speaker 5: Look, you almost have to go back to Brady and
- 19:50Speaker 5: our colleague Kurt Warner as far as guys, as far
- 19:53Speaker 5: as pedigree goes. Now, we've obviously talked about Perty plenty,
- 19:56Speaker 5: and he's played lots of good football.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Over the last year and a half and deserves his
- 19:59Speaker 4: Flower for that.
- 20:00Speaker 5: But you know, again, just a quarterback who slipped through
- 20:03Speaker 5: the draft rank and you know it wasn't considered elite prospect,
- 20:07Speaker 5: was probably better as a sophomore in college than he
- 20:09Speaker 5: was as a senior. So just his journey to this point,
- 20:12Speaker 5: especially after the elbow injury last year, adds a layer
- 20:15Speaker 5: of intrigue to this whole thing. And if he does,
- 20:17Speaker 5: it's an narrative buster. I really think it would change
- 20:19Speaker 5: his perceptive or his perception nationwide and probably in his
- 20:23Speaker 5: own team as well. Like you said, the Nyers still
- 20:25Speaker 5: have a decision to make on his future exactly.
- 20:27Speaker 2: And he has so many great weapons. It's why this
- 20:31Speaker 2: team wins. Sure, he's a distributor, but he also makes plays.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Don't just say he's a game manager. It's not a pejorative, right,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I mean he was able to scramble and put that
- 20:38Speaker 2: game away with his legs.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Not just a game manager.
- 20:41Speaker 2: But topic number one here the Chiefs defense against the
- 20:44Speaker 2: Niners Big four.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and this is truly a special matchup in my opinion,
- 20:48Speaker 5: obviously with Steve Spagnol and what that group has done.
- 20:51Speaker 5: You know, from Chris Jones to Nick Bolton to Lagarious Snead,
- 20:53Speaker 5: every single layer has superstar players and the forty nine
- 20:57Speaker 5: ers have the arguably best quartet.
- 20:59Speaker 4: In the league with Deebo. How big was he in
- 21:02Speaker 4: the NFC Championship game. He was the difference I thought
- 21:04Speaker 4: in some ways.
- 21:05Speaker 5: And George Kittle maybe a little banged up. We'll see
- 21:08Speaker 5: how that toe is. Oh yep, Christian McCaffrey slowed early,
- 21:11Speaker 5: can't hold him down for four quarters. And Brandon Ayuk,
- 21:15Speaker 5: you know, made big catches besides the Fluke one, but
- 21:18Speaker 5: also had to come down with that one in order
- 21:20Speaker 5: for them to win.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Is it Brandon Ayuk's final game as a forty nine
- 21:24Speaker 2: or as he heads towards free agency. If it is,
- 21:27Speaker 2: he wants to go out with a ring at a
- 21:29Speaker 2: party in Vegas. Imagine the post game party in Vegas
- 21:33Speaker 2: for either team. Yeah, by the way, and for you
- 21:36Speaker 2: as well. You know, come on down to a Legion stadium.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Coming up next on the NFL Power Ranking Show, is
- 21:41Speaker 2: that of my Energizer. We're gonna pick the game. Super
- 21:45Speaker 2: Bowl prediction guaranteed to be active. It's the NFL Power
- 21:59Speaker 2: Ranking Show for is that of my Energizer? We're at
- 22:01Speaker 2: the Senior Bowl. But now Eric at home and yours
- 22:04Speaker 2: that's really high Andrew, we are going to stop me.
- 22:07Speaker 2: If you've heard this before, predict the Super Bowl. Eric,
- 22:11Speaker 2: you go first, Okay, point who you like?
- 22:14Speaker 5: My coin says twenty four eighteen. I think the Chiefs
- 22:17Speaker 5: win this. I know the Niners are favored, but I
- 22:19Speaker 5: just think that Kansas City defense in the end is
- 22:22Speaker 5: going to be too much and the Mahomes factor too. Look,
- 22:24Speaker 5: I think he's gonna he talked about last week, knowing
- 22:27Speaker 5: when the defense is rolling, he could take a fewer chances.
- 22:30Speaker 5: He could be smarter about how he plays, and I
- 22:32Speaker 5: suspect this game to a certain degree is going.
- 22:34Speaker 4: To follow that script.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Now.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I know, I know that you know.
- 22:37Speaker 5: The run game was a little hit or miss, but
- 22:39Speaker 5: I think they'll have a little more success doing that
- 22:41Speaker 5: in this one. And I just think they're gonna be
- 22:44Speaker 5: able to keep the forty nine ers in check more
- 22:45Speaker 5: than the Lions did.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I have been burned two times previously.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I picked against the Chiefs in Buffalo, and then I
- 22:52Speaker 2: kind of hedged. I did pick the Ravens to win
- 22:55Speaker 2: or the better team. I thought, yeah, were at home,
- 22:58Speaker 2: but then I kind of said, but my gut tells
- 23:01Speaker 2: me the Chiefs.
- 23:01Speaker 3: That was cheating.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I'm not going to pick against the Chiefs this time.
- 23:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna take Kansas City twenty seven to twenty one.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I think that's a very traditional score, but maybe Jake
- 23:12Speaker 2: Moody misses a fueld goal with in twenty seven to
- 23:13Speaker 2: twenty four. I'm gonna go twenty seven to twenty one
- 23:17Speaker 2: Kanzi City. You want to give me an MVP.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I do, and I'm gonna go a little off script here.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Now.
- 23:23Speaker 5: I'd love to pick the quarterback, but I wonder if
- 23:26Speaker 5: Isaiah Pachecko isn't gonna have a little bit of a
- 23:27Speaker 5: bigger game here.
- 23:28Speaker 3: He runs like he wants to bite people.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Yeah, and if you're in the super Bowl, that would
- 23:32Speaker 5: imagine the stakes are pretty high. And having watched that
- 23:36Speaker 5: defensive tape of the of the forty nine ers really
- 23:38Speaker 5: struggling to contain David Montgomery and Engainmeer Gibbs early, I
- 23:42Speaker 5: suspect Pachecko with extra rest too. You know, he's been
- 23:45Speaker 5: bagged up down the stretch. He's gonna have a lot
- 23:47Speaker 5: of opportunities and maybe more as a pass receiver. Two
- 23:50Speaker 5: if they kind of spread everybody out and get him
- 23:52Speaker 5: on the perimeter.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I wouldn't be shocked.
- 23:54Speaker 2: For the record, Isaibaha Checko said, I ain't no zombie.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Those are his words, not mine. And I do think
- 23:59Speaker 2: it's fitting to back in Vegas, you know, the fight
- 24:01Speaker 2: capital of the world, Isaiaha Checko.
- 24:03Speaker 3: No relation doctor Burdy, but check I think this one
- 24:05Speaker 3: sounds right. I'm with you. I like it.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I am gonna go, however, with Patrick Mahomes because of
- 24:11Speaker 2: course it's it's quarterback. Yeah, did I just say how
- 24:16Speaker 2: I've screwed it up throughout the playoffs. I'm not betting
- 24:20Speaker 2: against the Chiefs, and I say, of course for recreational
- 24:22Speaker 2: purposes only.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, even though you're going to be in Vegas and
- 24:25Speaker 3: I'm not going to go against Patrick Mahomes.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean why would I? What's the old saying?
- 24:31Speaker 4: Keep it simple?
- 24:31Speaker 3: Stupid? Right?
- 24:32Speaker 4: You know that this is the kiss theory on on Patrick?
- 24:34Speaker 3: He's kiss gonna play too?
- 24:35Speaker 4: Oh? I would love that, right, like with Usher, I
- 24:39Speaker 4: don't know that time show.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Patrick Mahomes, I have him for his third one two,
- 24:44Speaker 2: three m d ps. And I'm going to give the
- 24:48Speaker 2: Chiefs my pick, my blessing like it means anything for
- 24:51Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. Again, for recreational purposes only. There are
- 24:54Speaker 2: no guarantees.
- 24:56Speaker 3: This has been fun. Yeah, that would do this?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, Barrick at home, I'm Andrews Siciliano. Don't
- 25:01Speaker 2: forget the Reese's Senior Bowl one pm Eastern Time on Saturday.
- 25:05Speaker 3: So Long from Bobile.
