Latest / Out of Bounds with Bo Bounds / Tom Luginbill talks Lincoln Kienholz - Louisville Cardinals QB
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You sent me an interesting text a couple of days ago.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Louisville will roll out Lincoln con Holts from an Ohio
- 0:07Speaker 1: State transfer or this guy from from West Georgia who
- 0:10Speaker 1: actually started there and played. Con Holts doesn't have any
- 0:14Speaker 1: PT under his belt, so he could be going against
- 0:17Speaker 1: a Pete Golding defense. It's we think it's gonna be
- 0:20Speaker 1: pretty damn good at minimum in game one. What can
- 0:24Speaker 1: you tell me about Lincoln con Holts when we as
- 0:28Speaker 1: we march into this game.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Lukes, So, I actually had the Cotton Bowl between Ohio
- 0:35Speaker 2: State and Missouri a couple of years ago. If you recall,
- 0:39Speaker 2: Comic coord decided to go into the transfer portal, Ohio
- 0:43Speaker 2: State went with Devin Brown. Devin Brown gets hurt in
- 0:47Speaker 2: that game and Lincoln Keenholts has to play as a freshman.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And you know, at that time, obviously you're playing against
- 0:55Speaker 2: the top fifteen ranked, top ten ranked team. I don't
- 0:58Speaker 2: know where Missouri was at that time, and Missouri ended
- 1:01Speaker 2: up winning the game, but it was just it was
- 1:03Speaker 2: an overwhelming experience for the young guy. And so you
- 1:07Speaker 2: know some background on him, the kid out of South Dakota,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and he was a what I would label as one
- 1:12Speaker 2: of those guys that was a really good athlete that
- 1:15Speaker 2: played quarterback. But he's one of those players. From a
- 1:18Speaker 2: recruiting perspective, he was intriguing because you when you watched him,
- 1:21Speaker 2: you're like, Okay, this guy could play more than one position.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Let's try to develop him at quarterback and then see
- 1:27Speaker 2: how that plays out. And so, you know, he stayed
- 1:31Speaker 2: competed there a little bit and then you know, put
- 1:33Speaker 2: himself on the open market. What I found to be
- 1:36Speaker 2: so intriguing is, you know, Jeff Brohm was I think,
- 1:42Speaker 2: really diligent and smart with the three transfer portal guys
- 1:47Speaker 2: that he took at Louisville, starting with Jack Plumber right
- 1:51Speaker 2: then it went to Tyler Schotts, then it went to
- 1:53Speaker 2: Miller Moss. Now the combon denominator of all three of
- 1:56Speaker 2: those guys is that they had played a ton of football.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You know, they been around and they've seen the live
- 2:02Speaker 2: bullets flying by. And so now Jeff brohms could try
- 2:07Speaker 2: to completely go another direction and is kind of going
- 2:10Speaker 2: into developmental mode where he might be playing with one
- 2:14Speaker 2: or two different quarterbacks that really haven't played any significant football,
- 2:18Speaker 2: which is a total deviation from his process to this point.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And I think if you've seen anything in the transfer
- 2:24Speaker 2: port of the last three to five years, is there
- 2:27Speaker 2: is significant value in experience, especially early on when you've
- 2:31Speaker 2: got to take on an opponent like Ole Miss and
- 2:33Speaker 2: they're going to have an experienced guy and you're not.
- 2:35Speaker 2: So I'm going to be very intrigued to see how
- 2:37Speaker 2: this thing plays out.
