- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on i sure will a good morning everybody you're
- 0:06Speaker 1: listening to the voice come on dig me now one
- 0:10Speaker 1: and only steve harvey i got a radio show real
- 0:13Speaker 1: grateful for that you know it's funny i remember when
- 0:16Speaker 1: i first started out in radio a lot of my
- 0:19Speaker 1: peers laughed at me some of it was being mean
- 0:22Speaker 1: spirited some of it was just you know mocking me
- 0:25Speaker 1: i'm used to stuff like that but um I had
- 0:28Speaker 1: as a special guest on my show, Joel Osteen. And
- 0:32Speaker 1: you know something, man, he he says something that was
- 0:35Speaker 1: I can't remember the scripture. I don't know exactly how
- 0:37Speaker 1: it were like we were having a long conversation. But
- 0:40Speaker 1: the gist of it was don't be upset with where
- 0:43Speaker 1: you are now and don't be upset with the small
- 0:46Speaker 1: things in your life. Be grateful for the small things
- 0:49Speaker 1: and the small position that you have right now because
- 0:52Speaker 1: you don't know where it's going. You don't know what
- 0:54Speaker 1: that's going to be one day. You don't know what
- 0:56Speaker 1: that's going to lead to. And that was very warming
- 0:59Speaker 1: to hear him say that. But it also reminded me
- 1:02Speaker 1: of when I started in radio, how small it was.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It reminded me of when I started in stand up
- 1:08Speaker 1: making twenty five dollars a show. It reminds me of
- 1:12Speaker 1: not having a home at a period in my life
- 1:16Speaker 1: and what God has allowed me to live in now.
- 1:19Speaker 1: So don't be distraught over your position now and don't be.
- 1:25Speaker 1: ungrateful or unappreciative for the things you have now, because
- 1:28Speaker 1: you don't know what that's going to grow into. And
- 1:30Speaker 1: that's really the gist of that I got from what
- 1:32Speaker 1: he was saying. I just wanted to share that with you,
- 1:34Speaker 1: that where you are now is so temporary because now,
- 1:38Speaker 1: like I've said before, now is a fleeting moment. Right
- 1:42Speaker 1: after you finish saying now, that moment that you claimed
- 1:45Speaker 1: as now, that's gone. So the where you are now,
- 1:50Speaker 1: is a very fleeting process. Now, you can change where
- 1:53Speaker 1: you are now, and you can change how you feel
- 1:56Speaker 1: about where you're at now, and you can change about
- 1:59Speaker 1: where you're going by simply changing your mind. It is
- 2:04Speaker 1: no different. I'm telling you, folks, the thing that I've
- 2:07Speaker 1: learned about successful people is not so much what they do.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It's not what they have. The biggest thing I've learned
- 2:15Speaker 1: about successful people is how they think. That's the thing
- 2:20Speaker 1: that's different. It's how they think. And I'm telling you
- 2:25Speaker 1: that you can change the way you think on any
- 2:28Speaker 1: subject and start becoming successful towards that starting now. You
- 2:34Speaker 1: have to understand that, man. The biggest difference I've noticed
- 2:38Speaker 1: between successful people and non-successful people is how they think.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I was reading What Is God? said that he was
- 2:48Speaker 1: taught all wrong about money. He said that his father
- 2:51Speaker 1: was very negative about money. All throughout his life, he
- 2:55Speaker 1: heard his father say, you know, people who got money
- 2:58Speaker 1: have walked on somebody to get it or cheated somebody
- 3:01Speaker 1: to get it. People who have money, money is the
- 3:03Speaker 1: root of all evil. Money is this. And people who
- 3:07Speaker 1: got money, you know, don't deserve it. They've done something
- 3:11Speaker 1: wrong to get it. So he said he grew up
- 3:13Speaker 1: the whole time. thinking that having money was something was
- 3:16Speaker 1: wrong with that. He discovered that it wasn't. Look, you
- 3:21Speaker 1: can choose to be successful any way you want to.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I've chosen several ways to be successful. I want to
- 3:26Speaker 1: be a very, very successful father. I think that's one
- 3:29Speaker 1: of the things that's paramount in my life, that I
- 3:32Speaker 1: really am working hard right now to become a successful father.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Not a successful father in terms of money, but a
- 3:41Speaker 1: successful father in terms of offering the amount of love
- 3:46Speaker 1: and guidance and leadership and the example that my children
- 3:50Speaker 1: need to look at. That's what I'm really, really working
- 3:53Speaker 1: hard at now. I want to be successful as a father,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but also I want to be successful as a husband.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You know, I want Marjorie to always know that she
- 4:01Speaker 1: can count on me, to not have to wonder about
- 4:04Speaker 1: me or look for me. You know, I want her
- 4:07Speaker 1: to feel secure in the fact that I really have
- 4:11Speaker 1: gotten it right. that I really am focused on being
- 4:15Speaker 1: a good husband to her because it means so much
- 4:17Speaker 1: to me. You know, so I'm working hard on a
- 4:20Speaker 1: lot of levels. I'm working hard. I'm trying very strong
- 4:24Speaker 1: to be a successful motivator of people. I want to
- 4:27Speaker 1: be a sharer of information to people that will uplift
- 4:30Speaker 1: others and give others the same things that I've learned
- 4:34Speaker 1: through the trials and tribulations of my life. But at
- 4:37Speaker 1: the same time, share that information and use the power
- 4:41Speaker 1: of this microphone To uplift people, you know, not to destroy.
- 4:45Speaker 1: My show is not about, oh, guess what so-and-so said,
- 4:47Speaker 1: guess what so-and-so did. I don't like mean-spirited things about people,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know. I joke with people who call in, that's
- 4:53Speaker 1: another thing. But I don't like destroying people with the
- 4:56Speaker 1: power of the microphone. So I'm working very hard on
- 4:59Speaker 1: being successful in a lot of areas of my life. Now, also,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I do care about being financially successful, too. because my father,
- 5:06Speaker 1: one of the gifts he gave me was very simple gift.
- 5:09Speaker 1: He told me a long time ago, he says, son,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the best thing you can do for poor people is
- 5:14Speaker 1: not be one of them. And that stuck with me.
- 5:18Speaker 1: And this was a hardworking man who was a coal
- 5:20Speaker 1: miner who worked construction his entire life. My father didn't
- 5:25Speaker 1: have an easy life, man. My father didn't sit behind
- 5:28Speaker 1: a microphone. My father didn't come to work and people
- 5:31Speaker 1: cheered for him. My father wasn't famous. My father, was
- 5:35Speaker 1: just a go get it, dude. He instilled that in me,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and I've taken that and applied it to my craft,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and I thank God for him for that. But I
- 5:43Speaker 1: do try to be financially successful so that I can
- 5:47Speaker 1: do some things with it to help some other people. Now,
- 5:49Speaker 1: am I opposed to having nice things? No. Do I
- 5:53Speaker 1: apologize for having nice things? No. And why should I?
- 5:56Speaker 1: I work. I work. I'm not on the radio asking
- 6:01Speaker 1: to give me money so I can go buy a
- 6:04Speaker 1: car I'm not I'm working. So I don't feel how
- 6:07Speaker 1: you want to feel. And other people do feel that
- 6:09Speaker 1: way about it. But if success in terms of finance
- 6:13Speaker 1: is what you're lacking, you can go about the business
- 6:16Speaker 1: of doing that. I'm writing a book and that whole
- 6:18Speaker 1: book is about teaching people how to become successful. And, man,
- 6:23Speaker 1: I'm breaking it down in a way where everybody can
- 6:26Speaker 1: get it, man, because I want the college student to
- 6:28Speaker 1: get it. You know, I want the working mom to
- 6:31Speaker 1: get it, the single mom to get it. The hardworking
- 6:34Speaker 1: father that's been trying to hold his family together can
- 6:37Speaker 1: get it. The father that ain't ever got it together
- 6:40Speaker 1: and feel that because of that reason, he can't be
- 6:42Speaker 1: the father he needs to be. I'm writing something, man,
- 6:46Speaker 1: to put it into words, to let you know that
- 6:48Speaker 1: God is a forgiving God and that God is a
- 6:51Speaker 1: merciful God and that God can get you out of
- 6:55Speaker 1: any situation you find yourself in. You just can't beat
- 6:59Speaker 1: yourself up every time you make a mistake. I make
- 7:01Speaker 1: mistakes all the time, man. I just got to remind
- 7:04Speaker 1: myself to get up. I ask God for forgiveness. I
- 7:07Speaker 1: call on his mercy and his grace and I get
- 7:10Speaker 1: up and I go again. But it's coming, man. And
- 7:13Speaker 1: if finance success is what you want, you got to
- 7:15Speaker 1: change your mind. You got to start thinking about how
- 7:19Speaker 1: to produce it. The first thing you do is you
- 7:21Speaker 1: got to ask. You got to ask to have a
- 7:24Speaker 1: life and have a life more abundantly. That's a scripture.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That he comes to you to give you life and
- 7:31Speaker 1: to give you life more abundantly. That's the scripture. That
- 7:35Speaker 1: ain't a joke. That ain't a theory. That's a fact.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And the fact that if you don't have a life
- 7:40Speaker 1: of abundance, you can get that by asking. Then it
- 7:43Speaker 1: starts by believing. And the how to don't even worry
- 7:46Speaker 1: about that. He takes care of that himself. He'll send
- 7:48Speaker 1: the stuff your way. But you got to be willing
- 7:51Speaker 1: to put some effort in this thing now. And you
- 7:53Speaker 1: can do it. Okay. I know I was a little
- 7:55Speaker 1: around the place today, but that's what it was. So,
- 7:57Speaker 1: you know, let's go get it. You're listening to the
- 8:00Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show.
