Prosecutors in Pierce County have declined to charge the two drivers involved in the fatal December 2025 crash that killed Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, 29, who was struck while responding to an accident on State Route 509. The first driver, traveling 35-40 mph, said he couldn’t avoid hitting her; prosecutors found no evidence of reckless driving.
