- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. Ben and
- 0:11Speaker 2: I were just complaining off air about air travel and
- 0:14Speaker 2: now it's just gotten to be so ridiculous. Yesterday I
- 0:17Speaker 2: had a four hour delay with a toddler by myself.
- 0:20Speaker 2: It wasn't the best, but it's also not the worst.
- 0:24Speaker 2: But it's been a trend, a crazy, crazy trend. My
- 0:28Speaker 2: flights recently, over the past three months have been like
- 0:30Speaker 2: four hours plus delayed. But anyway, sounds like Ben had
- 0:34Speaker 2: a far more interesting story about a delay, and it
- 0:38Speaker 2: happened about a week and a half ago. He was
- 0:41Speaker 2: midway through the story and I was like, all right,
- 0:43Speaker 2: save this for the air. Tell everybody about this, because
- 0:47Speaker 2: I thought it was going in a very interesting direction.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Go for it and tell the entire story again.
- 0:50Speaker 3: You want you want to people to hear this?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Huh the people?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, Well, I you know this is I just
- 0:56Speaker 3: fly a lot. I do.
- 0:59Speaker 2: You are on a plane every what do you think
- 1:02Speaker 2: the average is four to five days?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Well, I just I just hit sixty one flights this year,
- 1:07Speaker 3: so segments, so.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Since two thousand and three, so that's like twenty three.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a plane every average a plane like
- 1:19Speaker 3: every I don't know, two and a half days. It's
- 1:21Speaker 3: a lot. It's a lot. Yeah, do you count well, No,
- 1:27Speaker 3: you can see it on your like on your flight
- 1:29Speaker 3: like status, like flight segment.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Always take the one airline.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I always take United. I'm a big United.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Because it's a big hub.
- 1:37Speaker 3: It's a big hub in Denver, A big fan of
- 1:38Speaker 3: their service. Got to get the upgrades every now and again.
- 1:43Speaker 3: The crazy thing is I fights. I flew a ton
- 1:46Speaker 3: last year, like one hundred and twenty five flights, one
- 1:48Speaker 3: hundred and fifty flights, and then sixty one flights this year.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I am still not sometimes even in the top ten
- 1:55Speaker 3: when it comes to status on the flights, like people
- 1:57Speaker 3: are flying more than me, which blows my mind. I
- 1:59Speaker 3: don't know why. Yeah, it's crazy. There's just a lot
- 2:04Speaker 3: of people that fly o the time, I guess. But
- 2:06Speaker 3: all right, here's the story. I'll tell it quick. So
- 2:09Speaker 3: I was in Kukata, Colombia a week and a half
- 2:14Speaker 3: ago with Project Hope incredible trip reviewing some of the
- 2:18Speaker 3: work being done for pregnant women in Colombia, and it's
- 2:24Speaker 3: part of the Venezuelan refugee migration where they are coming
- 2:31Speaker 3: over from Venezuela, getting healthcare done in Colombia, moving to
- 2:34Speaker 3: Columbia a lot of times. So it was a great trip.
- 2:38Speaker 3: But the flight there is pretty tough. So to get
- 2:40Speaker 3: to Kukata it takes forever. I think it was like
- 2:43Speaker 3: fourteen hours of total travel for a place that's not
- 2:47Speaker 3: that far from the US. And we fly into Bogatah.
- 2:52Speaker 3: We're going to a Bogata to Houston, Houston back to Denver.
- 2:56Speaker 3: We get into Bogatah, get on our flight. It's a
- 2:58Speaker 3: midnight takeoff. We'll land in Houston at five forty five
- 3:02Speaker 3: or something. I'm supposed to have a flight connection at
- 3:05Speaker 3: like seven thirty am back to Denver. Be back in
- 3:08Speaker 3: Denver by nine thirty. That sounds great to me, like
- 3:10Speaker 3: I'll be home, ready to start my workday, kind of
- 3:13Speaker 3: ready to just get through as much as I can
- 3:15Speaker 3: before I fall asleep again. Well, we're in Bogata. I
- 3:19Speaker 3: get on the flight, I get upgraded, so I'm sitting
- 3:21Speaker 3: in first class, very nice, very excited about this. I'm
- 3:24Speaker 3: gonna have some cocktails, I'm gonna have some food. I'm
- 3:26Speaker 3: gonna relax. Two seats over for me, there's somebody that
- 3:29Speaker 3: sits down. The flight attendant comes up to this person
- 3:32Speaker 3: and says, what was the problem out there, sir. The
- 3:35Speaker 3: guy goes, I have no problem. He goes, well, what
- 3:36Speaker 3: happened out there? And he goes, well, some guy was
- 3:38Speaker 3: taken forever in line. My wife and I asked to
- 3:41Speaker 3: move in front of him, and he said f you
- 3:45Speaker 3: to me, and nobody talks that way to me and
- 3:47Speaker 3: my wife. I'm an ex marine. I don't stand down
- 3:49Speaker 3: to nobody, so I'm listening to all this. I'm like, well,
- 3:53Speaker 3: that's interesting, okay. So the flight intendant leaves him, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 3: and goes and talks to the other person, then leaves
- 3:59Speaker 3: the plane. The lady at the front desk that was
- 4:01Speaker 3: checking people in along with some other passengers, comes back
- 4:05Speaker 3: onto the plane. The flight attend did look to the
- 4:07Speaker 3: guy two seats over from me, and he goes, everybody
- 4:09Speaker 3: out there says you were the instigator. You were the
- 4:12Speaker 3: person that instigated this argument. And he goes, I was
- 4:15Speaker 3: not the instigator. I was not the instigator at all.
- 4:18Speaker 3: It's his fault. Nobody talks to me that way. Fight
- 4:20Speaker 3: attendant goes here's the deal. I don't really care. I
- 4:23Speaker 3: just want to get to Houston, Like I want to
- 4:24Speaker 3: get to Houston as fast as possible. I want to
- 4:26Speaker 3: get out of like out of this airport and get home.
- 4:30Speaker 3: And the guy goes, okay, cool, you go, and the
- 4:32Speaker 3: flight attendant said, as long as you guys don't fight
- 4:34Speaker 3: on the plane, we're good.
- 4:36Speaker 2: This is where I stopped a bed, yeah, because I
- 4:38Speaker 2: was like, all right, they're about to fight on the plane.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he goes, we're good. And so everybody around us
- 4:43Speaker 3: who has heard this is like, okay, good, we're We're
- 4:46Speaker 3: already delayed twenty minutes. Now we're gonna get taken off.
- 4:48Speaker 3: So the flight attendant sits down. We leave the jet bridge.
- 4:53Speaker 3: We're backing up. We get to like probably five minutes
- 4:57Speaker 3: from the jet bridge, and this guy two seats over
- 4:59Speaker 3: from me, No, you know what, you need to apologize
- 5:02Speaker 3: to me, to the flight attendant. You need to apologize
- 5:04Speaker 3: to me. I'm not the instigator. You need to apologize
- 5:07Speaker 3: to me.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Oh no, is his wife sitting next to him?
- 5:11Speaker 3: His wife sitting seven rows back. He got first class.
- 5:13Speaker 3: His wife got seat seven C, which is still a
- 5:15Speaker 3: good seat, not first class.
- 5:18Speaker 2: The man took first class for himself and didn't give
- 5:21Speaker 2: it to his wife. Oh yeah, I'm already judging this guy.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Solid move. But so the fight intendant gets onto his phone,
- 5:30Speaker 3: calls and says, we got to go back to the gate. Like,
- 5:33Speaker 3: you know, this guy is wanting apology. I have nothing
- 5:36Speaker 3: to apologize to him for. I'm not apologizing to him.
- 5:39Speaker 3: He and the fight atenant looks a him and and
- 5:41Speaker 3: he's the fight Attendant's right. He goes sir, like, I
- 5:44Speaker 3: have no skin in this game. All I want to
- 5:46Speaker 3: do is get to Houston. I don't really care who
- 5:49Speaker 3: is right and wrong as long as you guys don't
- 5:51Speaker 3: cause any more issues. So we go back to the gate.
- 5:55Speaker 3: This guy won't give up. He is literally going, you
- 5:58Speaker 3: need to apologize to me. So the fight Tan's like,
- 6:00Speaker 3: I'm sorry if I've said anything or done anything that's
- 6:03Speaker 3: offended you, but I am basing everything I know off
- 6:07Speaker 3: of what everybody else is saying. The guy back there
- 6:10Speaker 3: hasn't said a word since you walked onto this plane.
- 6:12Speaker 3: He's fine. You're the one that's upset and you're delaying
- 6:16Speaker 3: this plane. So long story short, Two and a half
- 6:21Speaker 3: hours later, we're still sitting on the plane. This guy's
- 6:24Speaker 3: still arguing. We finally argue with the flight attendant and
- 6:28Speaker 3: everybody else that comes up. Then they bring in like
- 6:30Speaker 3: an HR person from the airport to talk to him.
- 6:34Speaker 3: And I'm thinking, and everybody around me is thinking, take
- 6:37Speaker 3: this guy off the plane like he is, he's delaying everything.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Take him off the plane, just get him out of here.
- 6:42Speaker 3: But they were nice to him. They were nice to
- 6:44Speaker 3: him because there I think they were thinking, we don't
- 6:46Speaker 3: want to get him stuck in Bogatah. Like it's not
- 6:48Speaker 3: a bad place. Bogata is an amazing city, but you're
- 6:50Speaker 3: in a different country. You don't want to get stuck
- 6:52Speaker 3: in a different country, especially if you're on your way
- 6:55Speaker 3: to the no fly list. So so he finally take off.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Once this guy calms down kind of like gets tired enough,
- 7:04Speaker 3: everybody's fuming. Think about how mad this plane is at
- 7:06Speaker 3: this guy. At this point, every his wife get involved. No,
- 7:09Speaker 3: his wife stayed very quiet, very silent, like just kind
- 7:12Speaker 3: of sat back it all. Yeah, she could see it all.
- 7:16Speaker 3: So I missed my flight then to Denver. Here's the
- 7:19Speaker 3: here's the crazy part. I've never seen this before in
- 7:21Speaker 3: all my flights. We land in Houston, pull up to
- 7:24Speaker 3: the jet bridge. Five police officers walk onto the airplane.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Boom boom bom. Take this guy off, walk him to
- 7:31Speaker 3: some little quiet room off the side. Who knows what
- 7:34Speaker 3: happened to him, but I imagine it was not good.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Before everybody deboarded.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, big old he its like theater. There's a
- 7:43Speaker 3: big old theater. Everybody was intrigued. Was it a little
- 7:47Speaker 3: bit worth the miss? Not worth time? Never never, never
- 7:53Speaker 3: worth the miss, but it was. It was one of
- 7:56Speaker 3: those things, as we talk about many times before, where
- 7:58Speaker 3: you like watch it, like put your hands over your face,
- 8:01Speaker 3: but you open up your fingers just to see it
- 8:03Speaker 3: because it is like, for whatever reason, it's entertaining. I
- 8:06Speaker 3: don't know again, if that's the evil side of me.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I don't know, if it's the side of me that
- 8:10Speaker 3: just likes to see weird stuff happen, because I do,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I love it. But yes, I was watching this very intently.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I I'm typically not good at keeping my mouth shutting
- 8:20Speaker 3: these situations. I did a really good job at not
- 8:22Speaker 3: getting involved. So I would I wanted to see mediator
- 8:25Speaker 3: Ben would have been great here. No, because I was
- 8:27Speaker 3: very much not on this guy side. What I want
- 8:29Speaker 3: to say is shut sit down, stay quiet. You're in
- 8:33Speaker 3: first class on a flight. You're fine, like, eat your food,
- 8:36Speaker 3: have a cocktail. But the part that was driving me
- 8:39Speaker 3: crazy was why we were sitting still during this delay.
- 8:42Speaker 3: He was calling his friends back in the US being like, oh,
- 8:44Speaker 3: I got him. Like this guy was just like, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 3: saying it. Yeah. He's like, I don't back down to nobody.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I don't back down to anybody. So he's calling his
- 8:53Speaker 3: friends like bragging, like, oh, I got a story for
- 8:54Speaker 3: you when I get back, and I'm just like, dude,
- 8:56Speaker 3: you are literally ruining this for I don't know how
- 9:00Speaker 3: people on a plane, three hundred people on a plane,
- 9:01Speaker 3: like you're ruining this for them. Get over yourself. But
- 9:05Speaker 3: finally made it back. We're all good. I was fine.
- 9:08Speaker 3: It is kind of entertaining. I guess it's just it's
- 9:11Speaker 3: like one of my best stories to tell from that trip,
- 9:13Speaker 3: even though it was a great trip, but it is
- 9:14Speaker 3: the story I tell.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So I mean, even though I mean that sucked, that
- 9:20Speaker 2: delays totally sucked for everybody in the back not being
- 9:24Speaker 2: able to watch this too. Because class and your comfy
- 9:28Speaker 2: c you probably have your laptop over open doing something
- 9:31Speaker 2: and you've had a couple of whiskeys.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Right now, I'm fine, I'm doing I'm doing just fine. Yeah, bourbons, Yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'm doing just great. Well.
- 9:38Speaker 2: I feel bad for everybody else and and and you
- 9:41Speaker 2: for missing your fight and all that, but and for
- 9:43Speaker 2: his wife especially, Yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 3: For all you flying out there. It's just uh, it
- 9:47Speaker 3: just feels like a lot of people are flying. Airports
- 9:50Speaker 3: are getting busier, people are traveling again. It's you know
- 9:53Speaker 3: it is. I would just say take take it with
- 9:55Speaker 3: a grain of salt, like, enjoy the ride. Some airports
- 9:58Speaker 3: are nice and hang out in another I could probably
- 10:01Speaker 3: give you a list of my favorites and my least favorites.
- 10:04Speaker 3: But flying has been wild. Well, we just talked about drama.
- 10:08Speaker 3: We were just talking about drama on flights, Ashley. There's
- 10:10Speaker 3: some drama going on in Bachelor Nation right.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Now, right Ben, our first headline is so dramatic.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It's so dramatic, Ashley. Uh, it's time let's just jump
- 10:21Speaker 3: into bachelor. Yeah, it's a big deal, and I have
- 10:27Speaker 3: opinions on it right because I know both these people.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Let's take a break though. When we come back, we've
- 10:33Speaker 3: got some headlines to discuss in Bachelor Nation. All right, Ashley,
- 10:49Speaker 3: here's the headline. Chris Harrison. Yes, Chris Harrison calls the
- 10:52Speaker 3: Bachelor creator Mike Flies a narcissist. That's not a good
- 10:57Speaker 3: word to use to somebody following his exit from franchise.
- 11:01Speaker 2: All right, here we go. So on Chris's podcast, the
- 11:06Speaker 2: most dramatic podcast ever here on iHeart Radio Podcasts, he
- 11:11Speaker 2: was talking to Megan King, who is now again part
- 11:14Speaker 2: of the Real Housewives of Orange County, and towards the
- 11:17Speaker 2: end of the podcast, Megan goes, so, are there any
- 11:21Speaker 2: narcissists that have been the leads of the show? And
- 11:25Speaker 2: he couldn't come up with anyone.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Come on, all of us are narcissists. Stop.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I think people like use the word narcissist a little
- 11:32Speaker 2: bit lightly these days. Okay, so we look up the
- 11:35Speaker 2: real turn I want to before we go into this. Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 2: let's let's define narcissists nars.
- 11:41Speaker 3: I mean, I know I have behavior like I have
- 11:43Speaker 3: to fight against it. I have to implement like things
- 11:46Speaker 3: in my life to not like think of myself all
- 11:48Speaker 3: the time.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 2: But Ben, there's like there's one thing when you could
- 11:52Speaker 2: be like, first off, I don't think that you are
- 11:54Speaker 2: at all self centered or egotistical. You, to me are
- 11:57Speaker 2: like the least narcissistic person the entire world. You care
- 12:00Speaker 2: about others so tremendously, you put others before you all
- 12:05Speaker 2: the time. You're the last person I would ever think
- 12:08Speaker 2: to consider a to have any narcissist the behavioral patterns. Okay,
- 12:14Speaker 2: well you fight it hard then, and you and it
- 12:17Speaker 2: shows that you fight it very hard, because no I
- 12:19Speaker 2: would ever ever think that. But this is the definition
- 12:22Speaker 2: of narcissistic personality disorder. It is a mental health condition
- 12:25Speaker 2: in which people have an unreasonably high sense of their
- 12:30Speaker 2: own self importance. They need, they need and seek too
- 12:35Speaker 2: much attention and want people to admire them. People with
- 12:39Speaker 2: this disorder may lack the ability to understand or care
- 12:42Speaker 2: about the feelings of others. Now, like I was saying before,
- 12:45Speaker 2: I do think that people throw this word around a
- 12:48Speaker 2: bit because it's supposed to be like the most extreme
- 12:49Speaker 2: of the extreme, Like it's a personality disorder according to
- 12:53Speaker 2: you know, psychiatrists, when you're in the seat, right, But
- 12:57Speaker 2: if it's a person's a little egotistical, a little self centered,
- 13:01Speaker 2: loves the stage, loves getting attention. Not all those people
- 13:05Speaker 2: are narcissists. Okay, so that's why this is a big
- 13:07Speaker 2: word to use here. So Chris says this quote. The
- 13:12Speaker 2: creator of the show was pause severely. One of the
- 13:16Speaker 2: toughest things about narcissism is you will never I don't
- 13:21Speaker 2: want to say never, but very rarely that a person
- 13:25Speaker 2: will recognize that about themselves. I was talking to one
- 13:29Speaker 2: therapist about narcissism and she said, I'm just warning you that,
- 13:34Speaker 2: next to a homicidal maniac, narcissism is the toughest thing
- 13:40Speaker 2: to treat. That to have someone self realized and actually
- 13:45Speaker 2: fix that is next to impossible.
- 13:48Speaker 3: It just rarely happens. That's basically let's pause. Yeah, a
- 13:55Speaker 3: couple questions based on the definition. My question for somebody
- 13:59Speaker 3: who obviously his experience in the field would be can
- 14:02Speaker 3: people then, like can they combat this? It's a disorder,
- 14:10Speaker 3: it's a mental health issue, Like can you work on
- 14:12Speaker 3: something like this, you know? Or is this a personality
- 14:15Speaker 3: trait that's just kind of more nurture, like it's just
- 14:19Speaker 3: built or it's more nature, it's built inside of you,
- 14:22Speaker 3: like you born.
- 14:23Speaker 2: This seems like nature to me. I think you can
- 14:26Speaker 2: probably combat the behaviors. Okay, but I think it's it's
- 14:31Speaker 2: just it is built in them, like born like nature
- 14:33Speaker 2: versus nurture.
- 14:34Speaker 3: But it is so when Chris says.
- 14:35Speaker 2: This, it's my clinical point of view, I don't really know.
- 14:38Speaker 3: But when Chris says this, this is obviously like a
- 14:41Speaker 3: diss like this is a hey, this person, like you're
- 14:45Speaker 3: he's not saying, this is just the thing that you know,
- 14:47Speaker 3: the creator of the show needs to work on it.
- 14:49Speaker 3: It's like this is a disc towards who he is
- 14:52Speaker 3: as a person. Is that what we're saying? Oh?
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yes, yes. And I do think that he felt comfortable
- 14:58Speaker 2: enough to say this one because obviously Chris because Mike
- 15:02Speaker 2: is no longer with the show too, Chris is no
- 15:05Speaker 2: longer with the show, but also because right now it
- 15:09Speaker 2: is the second round of investigations that are going on
- 15:14Speaker 2: within Warner Brothers about Mike Flais's behavior, it's presumed that
- 15:20Speaker 2: this is the reason that he is no longer with
- 15:22Speaker 2: the show.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Interesting, I didn't know that.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Oh yes, there are some investigations into workplace behavior. They
- 15:29Speaker 2: say it's uh misconduct, These allegations going on. The first
- 15:33Speaker 2: time that he was looked into was in twenty nineteen,
- 15:36Speaker 2: when you know, there was the speak of him mistreating
- 15:41Speaker 2: his wife. Yeah, and now this is about like casting
- 15:46Speaker 2: and racism and all this. Yeah, a lot about like
- 15:51Speaker 2: uncomfortable comments he would make while casting.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Interesting. So I guess for some clarity here, because we
- 15:58Speaker 3: did break this story a few weeks ago when it
- 16:01Speaker 3: came out. Is Mike no longer at all associated with
- 16:05Speaker 3: the show or does he still own I mean he
- 16:07Speaker 3: still owns the show, right.
- 16:08Speaker 2: No, it's very strange. He according to my sources that
- 16:13Speaker 2: I've heard, he sold the show a while back, but
- 16:19Speaker 2: has still been the head haun show.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Okay, so he is. He is now no longer profiting
- 16:25Speaker 3: from the show. He's no longer involved in the show,
- 16:27Speaker 3: at least as far as we know. His involvement with
- 16:30Speaker 3: the show is done. I mean, when the show airs,
- 16:32Speaker 3: Mike Flie is not making any more money on this show.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I believe that is correct, But we don't know that
- 16:39Speaker 3: for sure, you believe I.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Can't say anything for sure, but I do know that
- 16:44Speaker 2: I was speaking to somebody this is actually a couple
- 16:47Speaker 2: months ago before he left, and I if I was
- 16:51Speaker 2: interpreting correctly, he did sell the show a while ago.
- 16:55Speaker 2: But was still there as part of the running of
- 16:58Speaker 2: the show because he was the creator.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Okay, well, it's this is an interesting headline. There's a
- 17:03Speaker 3: lot here to break down. Obviously, we have the relationship
- 17:06Speaker 3: between between Chris and Mike, which hasn't been spoken about
- 17:09Speaker 3: until now, so we know it's probably not on good terms.
- 17:12Speaker 3: We figured it wasn't based on Chris's exit, but we
- 17:16Speaker 3: didn't really know for sure. It doesn't seem like the
- 17:19Speaker 3: two of them split. Well, Chris is around for a
- 17:23Speaker 3: long time. He helped start and kick off this show
- 17:26Speaker 3: with Mike.
- 17:27Speaker 2: They had to work together for a long time, twenty years,
- 17:30Speaker 2: and you know, for to in this way, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 2: there's a lot of questions I have.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Was it always this way between the two of them?
- 17:36Speaker 3: Did they ever have a good relationship, did they ever
- 17:38Speaker 3: get along, like what was the dynamic like for those
- 17:41Speaker 3: twenty years or were they kind of walking in their
- 17:44Speaker 3: own isolated like areas and would cross paths every now
- 17:47Speaker 3: and again and they both needed each other because Mike
- 17:50Speaker 3: obviously owned the show for a long time, Chris hosted
- 17:53Speaker 3: the show and it was the face of the show.
- 17:55Speaker 3: But we now are seeing we can assume based on
- 17:59Speaker 3: this headline, and based on what Chris said that it
- 18:00Speaker 3: did not end in a beautiful manner. Strong words from Chris,
- 18:05Speaker 3: Now I know them both right. I don't know Mike
- 18:08Speaker 3: that well. I've seen I've met Mike a few times,
- 18:11Speaker 3: probably a five or six times in my life.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Was he present in like the boardroom when you were
- 18:16Speaker 2: signed to be the Bachelor?
- 18:18Speaker 3: No, he was not, but he was at a breakfast
- 18:22Speaker 3: that I went to when I was, I guess, interviewing
- 18:24Speaker 3: to be the Bachelor or doing you know, there was
- 18:26Speaker 3: like three people took me to breakfast and asked me
- 18:29Speaker 3: a bunch of questions about why I think I should
- 18:31Speaker 3: be the Bachelor, and I was like, I mean, it
- 18:33Speaker 3: was a terrible thing to ask me, because I was like,
- 18:35Speaker 3: I don't know, like I think you guys tell me
- 18:38Speaker 3: why I should be your bachelor. But he was there
- 18:41Speaker 3: for that. I mean, Chris and I have known each
- 18:44Speaker 3: other a lot more intimately and had a friendship during
- 18:48Speaker 3: the show and after the show. Mike was always nice
- 18:51Speaker 3: to me, I guess, but he had no reason not
- 18:54Speaker 3: to be. I was, you know, there and gone. So
- 18:57Speaker 3: it's not like I had a lot of long longevity
- 19:00Speaker 3: with the show Afterwards, but I always did wonder do.
- 19:04Speaker 2: You have had quite a longevity with the show as
- 19:07Speaker 2: by association?
- 19:08Speaker 3: By association, yes, but I always did wonder what their
- 19:12Speaker 3: relationship was like because they are very different people. They are,
- 19:17Speaker 3: I mean, no matter what, they're very different people. I
- 19:19Speaker 3: never I've always been curious, even when I was the
- 19:21Speaker 3: bachelor of what in the world, Like, who is this
- 19:24Speaker 3: Mike Feiss guy? Like where is he? You know, is
- 19:26Speaker 3: he like watching? So curious to the cast they I'd
- 19:29Speaker 3: always be like, is he here? Like is he watching
- 19:31Speaker 3: us from a distance? Is he in some control room?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Like is he like puppeteering us around? Or what's what's
- 19:37Speaker 3: going on here? So I always was curious about this character.
- 19:42Speaker 3: But I do know them interesting place where they where
- 19:47Speaker 3: they've ended up. I'm going to be intrigued, and we'll
- 19:50Speaker 3: break it down for you here on the Almost Famous podcast.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Whenever these this WB investigation continues and kind of comes
- 19:56Speaker 3: to a resolution, We'll make sure to fill you in
- 19:59Speaker 3: on what they find out. It's interesting the state of
- 20:03Speaker 3: the show, and I think it also Ashley, A big
- 20:06Speaker 3: question here is where does it What does the show
- 20:08Speaker 3: look like without Mike? I mean, if he's been around
- 20:10Speaker 3: for this long, had such a control over it for
- 20:12Speaker 3: this long. What is the show going to look like
- 20:14Speaker 3: creatively for this next upcoming season. It's going to be interesting.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Like what we said in our breaking news podcast that
- 20:23Speaker 2: you weren't on, Jared and I talked about it, he
- 20:26Speaker 2: didn't have a huge involvement with the day to day
- 20:29Speaker 2: processes of the show, you know, storylines and such like that,
- 20:33Speaker 2: but it seems like he did have final say on
- 20:35Speaker 2: whoever the lead was. So I think that casting might
- 20:37Speaker 2: be a little bit different. I want to ask you
- 20:40Speaker 2: a question because you are friends with Chris and I
- 20:44Speaker 2: don't know if you know those personally or not, but
- 20:46Speaker 2: it sounds based on his openness in calling him a narcissist,
- 20:51Speaker 2: that could could we say that maybe Mike had a
- 20:55Speaker 2: hand in the decision that was firing Chris and he's
- 20:58Speaker 2: a little bit you know, like this is his moment
- 21:00Speaker 2: to kind of be like basking the glory that is
- 21:03Speaker 2: his fire, uh, his departure.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Oh, I don't, I mean, I guess I can't say.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I don't know. I've never asked if Mike had a
- 21:11Speaker 3: hand in it. I would have to assume.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I would definitely assume. I think that he was probably
- 21:16Speaker 2: if he's the head of making the casting decision for
- 21:19Speaker 2: the lead, I feel like he's probably had in charge
- 21:22Speaker 2: of the decision of Chris leading.
- 21:24Speaker 3: So here's what we know based on the context clues.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Up until recently, Mike was still running this show, and
- 21:30Speaker 3: so all big decisions had to go through Mike, and
- 21:33Speaker 3: then if he didn't like a decision being made, then
- 21:36Speaker 3: I bet he had the ability to put his foot
- 21:38Speaker 3: down and say no, it's not going to go that way,
- 21:39Speaker 3: or no, we're not going to choose this person. When
- 21:41Speaker 3: it comes to firing your host after twenty years or
- 21:44Speaker 3: getting to a place where your host leaves, I don't
- 21:47Speaker 3: think we still know if he got fired or if
- 21:49Speaker 3: he left, or how legally that's written.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Up both of them. We really don't know how it's
- 21:54Speaker 2: written up.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah, Mike definitely had a saying like we have to.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I mean, if he didn't, then he's not doing his
- 22:00Speaker 3: because he still was running the show at the time.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I also think based on Chris's you know and this
- 22:07Speaker 3: is such he had such a good he has such
- 22:09Speaker 3: a good podcast. Right now, we're going to hear a
- 22:11Speaker 3: lot from Chris and we're going to seem more unfiltered Chris.
- 22:13Speaker 3: But the Most Dramatic Podcast has done a great job
- 22:17Speaker 3: opening up Chris to speaking his mind more openly. And
- 22:24Speaker 3: he said it in one of his first episodes. You know,
- 22:26Speaker 3: he's not unaware of the ratings drops of the show.
- 22:30Speaker 3: He's not unaware of the struggles of the show, of
- 22:33Speaker 3: the inner turmoils of the show. He's not unaware of
- 22:37Speaker 3: any of that. Right, he still has friends that work
- 22:38Speaker 3: in the franchise. He still has friends that work on
- 22:40Speaker 3: the show, and he can look up the numbers with
- 22:42Speaker 3: Google and he seemed to do that. It does feel like, yes,
- 22:46Speaker 3: I don't know if this is like Chris's jab at Mike.
- 22:50Speaker 3: It doesn't really seem like who Chris has ever been
- 22:52Speaker 3: where he wants to like jab somebody, you know, when
- 22:54Speaker 3: he doesn't have affiliation with him. But I guarantee you
- 22:58Speaker 3: there is some piece of him that's like, yeah, look,
- 23:01Speaker 3: look what happened when you get when when I'm gone,
- 23:04Speaker 3: Like everything's falling down, Like the franchise is going to
- 23:08Speaker 3: change forever, you know, hopefully for the better. We love
- 23:10Speaker 3: the franchise, we love watching the show. We're big fans
- 23:12Speaker 3: of the show. But this is a whole new season.
- 23:14Speaker 3: In chapter I don't want to understate just how different
- 23:17Speaker 3: the show is now going to be without Mike there.
- 23:21Speaker 3: It's the first time we've ever seen it in twenty years.
- 23:23Speaker 3: It has it's gonna be different.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well, my guess is this, and again it's just assumptions
- 23:30Speaker 2: from this mysterious man who is kind of like the
- 23:32Speaker 2: Wizard of Oz in a lot of ways, the man
- 23:35Speaker 2: behind the curtain. I think that they're going to have
- 23:40Speaker 2: more room to experiment and they don't have to go
- 23:43Speaker 2: necessarily by a formula with him gone, well.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Sure, I mean, I just don't know enough to know,
- 23:49Speaker 3: like what he was involved in the not and I
- 23:51Speaker 3: know this that's be investigation will open us up to Okay,
- 23:55Speaker 3: where was he putting his foot down? What was the
- 23:57Speaker 3: things he was for, and what were the things he
- 23:58Speaker 3: was against. We'll know more here very soon about the
- 24:01Speaker 3: inner workings of the Bachelor. But this is a very
- 24:04Speaker 3: interesting point for anybody listening. I was a lead on
- 24:08Speaker 3: this show. Ashley has been very involved in the show
- 24:11Speaker 3: and was on the show, and we don't know how
- 24:14Speaker 3: it works behind the scenes. I have no idea who
- 24:17Speaker 3: was making these decisions. I have no idea how things
- 24:19Speaker 3: were getting done. I have no idea who was the
- 24:21Speaker 3: gatekeeper to all big things that we were watching on television,
- 24:26Speaker 3: including editing, including leads, including casting. So we're going to
- 24:30Speaker 3: find that out soon. But for us to take a
- 24:33Speaker 3: stand right now and say, no, this is how it
- 24:35Speaker 3: was going down, we just don't know. And that's part
- 24:38Speaker 3: of the interesting part about being so involved in the
- 24:40Speaker 3: show is it really is like the Wizard of Oz.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It is a mystery once, Like behind those cameras. I
- 24:45Speaker 3: have no idea what was going on in the controller room.
- 24:47Speaker 3: I have no idea what was going on at the offices.
- 24:49Speaker 3: I have no idea these conversations.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Well let's take a break and we'll
- 24:55Speaker 2: get on to some fluffy headlines this week.
- 25:08Speaker 3: All right, first headline is this Oh my goodness, this guy.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I love him, dude, He's one of my best friends
- 25:13Speaker 3: in the world. I think he's great. He is uh,
- 25:17Speaker 3: he's one of a kind though, I mean, he just
- 25:19Speaker 3: makes you pull your hair out sometimes. Good for Kaitlin. Anyways,
- 25:24Speaker 3: Dean reveals he got Kaylin a third. Yes, a third.
- 25:28Speaker 3: We talked about the first. I don't know if we
- 25:30Speaker 3: ever even talked about the second. But now it's a
- 25:32Speaker 3: third engagement ring and they share wedding updates. Good good
- 25:35Speaker 3: that they have updates. I bet Dean was learning about
- 25:39Speaker 3: these updates while Kaylan spoke about him. But it's a
- 25:44Speaker 3: third engagement ring, Ashley oh Man.
- 25:47Speaker 2: And the funny ironic thing about all of this is
- 25:50Speaker 2: that Dean didn't even want her to have an engagement
- 25:54Speaker 2: you know. He was like, why can't you just wear
- 25:56Speaker 2: like a paper ring, or like a rubber band, or
- 25:58Speaker 2: just like a band. Wise to have this to be
- 26:00Speaker 2: this ideal rock for you. So what happened was he
- 26:04Speaker 2: got the ideal rock. Short story guides if you haven't followed,
- 26:07Speaker 2: He got the ideal rock. It was the rock, not
- 26:09Speaker 2: the actual ring. He was going to put the rock
- 26:12Speaker 2: on a ring. He put it into a napkin or
- 26:15Speaker 2: some sort and put it into the junk drawer in
- 26:17Speaker 2: the kitchen. Not surprisingly, it disappeared. It's been months and
- 26:21Speaker 2: months and they cannot find it. But he still wanted
- 26:25Speaker 2: to give her a proper proposal in Hawaii a couple
- 26:28Speaker 2: months ago, with an actual ring to put on her finger.
- 26:31Speaker 2: So he went to the jewelry store, got a quote
- 26:35Speaker 2: inexpensive ring and did it with that the plan the
- 26:39Speaker 2: entire time was for her to actually get a ring
- 26:43Speaker 2: that resembled the one that was lost, and what happened
- 26:48Speaker 2: in this case nice to be a part of Bachelor Nation.
- 26:53Speaker 2: A jewelry company reached out to him and they offered
- 26:59Speaker 2: to make her ring. So she now has a new ring,
- 27:04Speaker 2: but not on her finger yet, because he's gonna give
- 27:07Speaker 2: a her at some time a surprise, maybe in their
- 27:10Speaker 2: next trip in Hawaii. He said, sometime before the wedding,
- 27:14Speaker 2: he will put this new ring on her finger in
- 27:17Speaker 2: a special little moment.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Why does he keep making her wait for this stuff?
- 27:20Speaker 3: I've got to talk to him because.
- 27:22Speaker 2: It's the most dean thing ever.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like continued, like, Okay, he lost the first
- 27:27Speaker 3: did you know, took her on a hike for the second,
- 27:30Speaker 3: But this third, Like, just give the girl the ring, Like,
- 27:33Speaker 3: let her wear a ring? Like why does he?
- 27:35Speaker 2: She doesn't need another moment, No mean.
- 27:39Speaker 3: To be engaged. She just wants to like enjoy this
- 27:42Speaker 3: season of life. But goodness, gracious, this is very This
- 27:48Speaker 3: is a very dean story. For anybody listening and wanting
- 27:50Speaker 3: to know Dean's personality and kind of his traits. This
- 27:54Speaker 3: is a very Dean moment, and I'm sure you can
- 27:57Speaker 3: listen to more of Dean and his hysterical antics when
- 28:02Speaker 3: it comes to being engaged on the podcast with Jared
- 28:07Speaker 3: and Dean.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Their podcast Help We Suck At Being.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Newly Wise with Kaylen as well.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Now right, yeah, it's with iHeart. They have talked a
- 28:14Speaker 2: little bit more about their wedding this week. We'll put
- 28:16Speaker 2: it out there. She does have two dresses. Their wedding
- 28:20Speaker 2: venue is an Aspen and they're going they're leaning in
- 28:23Speaker 2: hard to that theme. They said it's kind of like
- 28:25Speaker 2: Yellowstone vibes. And they got their invitation mock ups this week.
- 28:30Speaker 2: They said it's beautiful, but Diana is wondering why there's
- 28:33Speaker 2: a pair of cowboy boots on the invitation. He's never
- 28:36Speaker 2: wear worn cowboy boots and he doesn't think that Caitlin
- 28:38Speaker 2: wears them often.
- 28:41Speaker 3: I mean, I can't. I just come on anyway, Speaking
- 28:45Speaker 3: of engagement rings, next headline is a good question. Get
- 28:49Speaker 3: a question this often. We've talked about it before, but
- 28:52Speaker 3: it's been maybe a year or two. What happens to
- 28:54Speaker 3: the Neil Laye engagement ring? After Bachelor Nation splits? Former
- 28:59Speaker 3: Lee explain this, I would yea, I have experienced.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Myself, Ben ben h explain yours, did, Lauren? They just
- 29:12Speaker 2: come up to you to go, yeah, an to take
- 29:15Speaker 2: the red back.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Now, yeah, you get a weird text if you make it, though,
- 29:18Speaker 3: I think it's two years post show, then it's yours
- 29:21Speaker 3: to keep.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it is, two years supposed show. Or
- 29:24Speaker 2: you could like buy it from them. Yeah, it might
- 29:26Speaker 2: even be at a discount.
- 29:27Speaker 3: I think it's so. I mean, I it needed to
- 29:30Speaker 3: be at a discount, it was more than my house.
- 29:31Speaker 3: But the Yeah, you get a weird text that says, hey,
- 29:35Speaker 3: please turn it in, and you do. And here's the question.
- 29:38Speaker 3: Where does it sit though? And I'm wondering if there's
- 29:40Speaker 3: like a drawer, like a graveyard with all these rings,
- 29:43Speaker 3: or if it goes back to Neielane. Some have argued
- 29:44Speaker 3: to me with me here recently. Honestly, people that would
- 29:47Speaker 3: be in the know that Neil takes them back and
- 29:49Speaker 3: repurposes them, takes the diamonds out and reuses them.
- 29:54Speaker 2: So what's your take on that, Like, are they cursed diamonds?
- 29:58Speaker 3: No? I mean I don't think that, but I'm sure
- 30:00Speaker 3: some do. You just would never know. I think it's
- 30:02Speaker 3: only cursed if you know it's cursed.
- 30:06Speaker 2: If it if it was on the finger of a
- 30:08Speaker 2: relationship that ended. Sure, it was the symbol of a
- 30:11Speaker 2: relationship that ended. Yeah, like it's not.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Why don't you want to know? Though, Like if like
- 30:17Speaker 3: some legendary couple from Bachelor, like in your Big Bachelor friend,
- 30:20Speaker 3: like whoa this ring was once worn by But no,
- 30:24Speaker 3: I mean I know people. I mean I know people
- 30:29Speaker 3: who have given rings from like a parent's divorce to
- 30:34Speaker 3: their fiance. Really, yeah, it works. It's a ring. So
- 30:38Speaker 3: some some believe in the curse of the diamonds, some don't.
- 30:41Speaker 3: But we do know if you keep it for two years,
- 30:43Speaker 3: it's yours insurance then transfers over to your name and
- 30:46Speaker 3: it's yours to keep and you can do with it
- 30:47Speaker 3: what you want. So some couples, if they're like on
- 30:51Speaker 3: the eighteenth month mark, like you know, I was getting
- 30:53Speaker 3: close to some would think, let's just not say anything
- 30:57Speaker 3: for six months. Some are like, no, we got to
- 30:58Speaker 3: say something like we gotta go on with our lives
- 31:01Speaker 3: and uh, and you you fall short of the two
- 31:04Speaker 3: months or two year timetable and it goes back to
- 31:08Speaker 3: the show. But some of these rings are really expensive.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I mean I saw the other day there was a
- 31:12Speaker 3: stat that Bachelor Data did on the most expensive rings
- 31:15Speaker 3: from the show, and I think my like the one
- 31:17Speaker 3: from my season was the most expensive ever. It was
- 31:19Speaker 3: like two It was like.
- 31:21Speaker 2: It was peaking in size for sure.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 2: So wait, can I pull us up, like I want
- 31:26Speaker 2: to see the Bachelor Data.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I don't know where it's at. It's going
- 31:29Speaker 3: to take a while to find it.
- 31:31Speaker 2: When you say a couple of days ago, do you
- 31:32Speaker 2: mean like a couple of months ago?
- 31:34Speaker 3: Days? Kind of good to go.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Oh no, it's right here. Oh cool, So Katie's what
- 31:39Speaker 2: we just saw is three point one carrots? Okay, total carrots? Yeah,
- 31:45Speaker 2: Lauren has the most. How she had the most carrots
- 31:48Speaker 2: a little over four carrots. Goodness, and then Whitney was
- 31:52Speaker 2: right behind her. So you guys were our little season
- 31:56Speaker 2: combo was the Heyday of rings because Whitney was just
- 32:00Speaker 2: at four carrots.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Oh well, I don't miss that ring at all. I
- 32:06Speaker 3: have I've not thought. I really have not thought about
- 32:08Speaker 3: it since.
- 32:08Speaker 2: So we're fine, all right, So let's continue with our headlines.
- 32:13Speaker 3: All right, Here we go. Claire Crawley, she buys a
- 32:16Speaker 3: new house with husband Ryan Dawkins. We're building our home together.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Here's what's wild to me, Ashley super excited for Claire.
- 32:22Speaker 3: It's like still weird for me to read Claire Crawley
- 32:25Speaker 3: and husband. It feels like it happened fast. It feels
- 32:28Speaker 3: like it happened out of nowhere. But it's such a
- 32:30Speaker 3: thing that you and I rooted for right for so long,
- 32:33Speaker 3: going back to COVID when she was announces the Bachelorette,
- 32:36Speaker 3: We're like, we want Claire Crawley to find love. We
- 32:39Speaker 3: do like it's a big deal. But now she's husband Ben.
- 32:43Speaker 2: I get so excited. I think about this often, like
- 32:45Speaker 2: I literally sitting on the couch and I'm just like,
- 32:49Speaker 2: Claire's married, Like it happened, and I'm so happy about it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Claire kind not out of nowhere, but it happened like
- 32:56Speaker 3: without a lot of like lead up, right.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, well without a lot like uh woo around it,
- 33:03Speaker 2: you know, like it was really just one of those
- 33:06Speaker 2: we love each other, we're old enough to know that
- 33:09Speaker 2: this is this is the right fit, and we're just
- 33:12Speaker 2: gonna do it without a lot of hoopla. Okay, fair enough,
- 33:16Speaker 2: all right, So this is what's going on with their
- 33:18Speaker 2: life right now. She's had the house in Sacramento. He's
- 33:23Speaker 2: had a house in Oakland, and they've been like kind
- 33:26Speaker 2: of splitting their time between them, but they don't have
- 33:28Speaker 2: a house together yet, and they just found what they
- 33:31Speaker 2: love so much. It'll be shared with them, of course,
- 33:34Speaker 2: and his daughters. They are not fully moved in yet
- 33:37Speaker 2: because they're doing redoing a lot of it. She says,
- 33:39Speaker 2: they have a ton to do. They came in and
- 33:42Speaker 2: checked on everything. She came to check on the grass
- 33:45Speaker 2: because she's obsessed with the grass. She says it's been
- 33:47Speaker 2: hard to find a house with such a beautiful yard
- 33:50Speaker 2: in lawn. She's super stoked about it. And while she
- 33:53Speaker 2: was there, she got on Instagram and shared that this
- 33:56Speaker 2: was a new house. She said that she loves the
- 33:58Speaker 2: fact that they have fruit trees like lemon trees and
- 34:01Speaker 2: lime trees and orange trees. That's really cool. And she
- 34:04Speaker 2: has so many more ideas for what she wants to
- 34:05Speaker 2: plant in there with time, and she's just been really
- 34:09Speaker 2: stoked to build a home together and make it exactly
- 34:13Speaker 2: the way they want it. She said that she's going
- 34:16Speaker 2: to be hitting up Instagram a lot because she needs
- 34:18Speaker 2: help with you know, from all the followers on like
- 34:21Speaker 2: this for that, because it's the first time that she's
- 34:23Speaker 2: going to have to compromise in putting a together a
- 34:26Speaker 2: house with somebody else, because she's alway kind of done
- 34:28Speaker 2: it herself.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Well, next headline is this former bachelorette Trista Setter says
- 34:33Speaker 3: producers sold my clothes during filming. Now, this was said
- 34:37Speaker 3: Ashley on The Almost Famous OG's podcast, which is a
- 34:40Speaker 3: great podcast as well within our network. We're big fans
- 34:43Speaker 3: of it. We really think it adds something to the
- 34:45Speaker 3: flavor in the brand of the Almost Famous podcast. Sure
- 34:49Speaker 3: do I have some comments on this?
- 34:52Speaker 2: Okay? Please do? Do you want me to tell the
- 34:54Speaker 2: story for yeah, tell us the story for it first. Okay,
- 34:57Speaker 2: So Ben Flanne's on the podcast this week. He said
- 34:59Speaker 2: he got to keep his suits and she was like, wait,
- 35:01Speaker 2: you get to keep your suits and I didn't get
- 35:02Speaker 2: to keep any of my dresses. She said she had
- 35:04Speaker 2: a connection with Sacks. You know, it was basically like
- 35:07Speaker 2: an early like influencer brand deal. She's like, all wear
- 35:09Speaker 2: the dresses, you give me the dresses, we'll all promote it.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Something like that. She said it was her own thing
- 35:14Speaker 2: had nothing to do with the producers. She goes into
- 35:17Speaker 2: her closet like halfway through the season, and she's like,
- 35:20Speaker 2: wear are my clothes? Where are my dresses? She's excited
- 35:22Speaker 2: to keep them, keep them, you know, and then they go, oh,
- 35:25Speaker 2: we've been selling them. And they're like, you've been selling them.
- 35:29Speaker 2: They've been selling them, and that's some like soap opera things,
- 35:31Speaker 2: she said, where they sell things in LA And she's like,
- 35:35Speaker 2: wait a second, this was these these are mine my clothes,
- 35:39Speaker 2: not your clothes, so she said. She Eventually she know
- 35:42Speaker 2: she got to keep a couple of nice formal dresses,
- 35:44Speaker 2: but she was pretty bummed.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah, well they must have sold them. So my comments
- 35:49Speaker 3: on this was I got to keep most of my clothes.
- 35:52Speaker 3: The only way I did those I wrote a letter
- 35:54Speaker 3: to wb uh if you remember. Really, I don't know
- 35:58Speaker 3: if I've shared this story or not, but I wrote
- 36:00Speaker 3: a letter pretty much saying, hey, uh, I'm going to
- 36:03Speaker 3: be your bachelor uh for the next year, right until
- 36:08Speaker 3: you announce somebody new. And I don't dress well, like
- 36:11Speaker 3: it's just not a part of me. And if you, Jared, yeah,
- 36:15Speaker 3: if you want to be looking like presentable in all
- 36:19Speaker 3: these appearances. Then the clothes that you have, you know,
- 36:23Speaker 3: tailored for me during my season of The Bachelor, then
- 36:26Speaker 3: I'll need to have and I'm and I then I
- 36:29Speaker 3: did a little stat line where it's like, Okay, this
- 36:32Speaker 3: is how many people are six foot four and my weight,
- 36:35Speaker 3: and this is how many people, uh in entertainment are
- 36:39Speaker 3: six foot four and my weight. And it's like nobody, right,
- 36:41Speaker 3: Like nobody's that tall and entertainment and those that are
- 36:44Speaker 3: are like usually really ripped and they play like giants
- 36:47Speaker 3: on shows.
- 36:47Speaker 2: So I was like, no, that's like Jace Momoa, Like
- 36:51Speaker 2: Jace Momoa is not much taller than me, and he,
- 36:54Speaker 2: you know, he's a massive man when it comes to
- 36:56Speaker 2: everybody else in entertainment.
- 36:57Speaker 3: And so I so all of a sudden, one day,
- 36:59Speaker 3: I get like six boxes of clothes. I still wear
- 37:03Speaker 3: most of them, Like I still like my clause. I
- 37:05Speaker 3: still have boxes downstairs in our house that have never
- 37:08Speaker 3: been opened from the show because like they tailor everything
- 37:11Speaker 3: down to your simsuits and underwear, and so nobody else
- 37:14Speaker 3: is gonna wear that. And if they don't give you
- 37:16Speaker 3: the clothes for like Zac season, because they don't do
- 37:19Speaker 3: this anymore. After I wrote the letter. They pretty much quit,
- 37:22Speaker 3: like very like like strictly said, no leads are going
- 37:25Speaker 3: to do this anymore. We're not going to set this precedent.
- 37:28Speaker 3: It goes into the rental closet at like the studios,
- 37:32Speaker 3: and people can go and rent them for like costumes
- 37:35Speaker 3: and stuff anytime they want. But they just I bet,
- 37:39Speaker 3: I bet I have, Like I don't know how much
- 37:42Speaker 3: the suit's worth. It's the show about me, Like five
- 37:44Speaker 3: thousand dollars suits hanging on a rack for the last
- 37:47Speaker 3: seven years.
- 37:48Speaker 2: You're never gonna have to buy a suit again. Do
- 37:50Speaker 2: not gain or lose any weight, I know.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the stressful part, right, I know exactly where
- 37:55Speaker 3: I stand, and I had lost so much weight during
- 37:58Speaker 3: my season that some of it does not look fit. Yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 3: but it's interesting they sold him. It feels like a
- 38:04Speaker 3: very bachelor thing to do and like a really like
- 38:07Speaker 3: interesting story where it's like, sorry, I didn't know, Yeah,
- 38:11Speaker 3: I didn't know. We weren't supposed to sell them. I
- 38:12Speaker 3: didn't know they were actually yours.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, ben One, that was so business avy
- 38:18Speaker 2: of you. I'm proud.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Well, thank you.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You looked up stats.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's the only way to make a good argument. Well,
- 38:23Speaker 3: and here's the sad part about my story is, you know,
- 38:27Speaker 3: I got to keep some of the watches from that season.
- 38:29Speaker 3: There's some nice watches. There was like three watches that
- 38:32Speaker 3: got to keep, and I had them in a in
- 38:35Speaker 3: a box with my grandfather's watches that he had given
- 38:39Speaker 3: me when he passed. And that's the box that got
- 38:41Speaker 3: stolen when my house got broken into in Denver. Everything
- 38:44Speaker 3: got taken. And so I don't have any of those things. Yeah,
- 38:48Speaker 3: this stink. So I don't have that, but I had
- 38:50Speaker 3: the clothes. I do have a Hugo Boss suit. I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 3: I still be looking good.
- 38:53Speaker 2: At Jared only wears his Armani suit that he got
- 38:57Speaker 2: from the date in the museum the helicopter. Yeah, he
- 39:01Speaker 2: was like the male Cinderella date basically, and it's the
- 39:04Speaker 2: only thing he wears. And we have a very formal occasion.
- 39:07Speaker 3: He looked good. Well. Sarah Herron tries out new prosthetic
- 39:12Speaker 3: arm can finally hold Dylan's hand.
- 39:14Speaker 2: She says, yeah, so sweet. So she decided to get
- 39:20Speaker 2: a prosthetic armed with the hand. She said that it's
- 39:23Speaker 2: just gonna, you know, make her life a little easier.
- 39:25Speaker 2: But She's got a lot of practice to do with it,
- 39:27Speaker 2: and they're still tweaking it so that it fits her
- 39:30Speaker 2: the best. She said, this is the most It's called
- 39:33Speaker 2: the CEO vv I hand and is the most advanced
- 39:37Speaker 2: of its kind for the intuitive default grip pattering. That's
- 39:41Speaker 2: pretty scientific sounding, but you know it's because it's able
- 39:43Speaker 2: to like grip like very naturally, and it's it's able
- 39:48Speaker 2: to input custom made gestures into the device. That's cool.
- 39:52Speaker 2: But basically she feels really nice that now when she's
- 39:55Speaker 2: in the passenger seat of the car, she can hold
- 39:57Speaker 2: Dylan's hand while they drive, and that's something she's wanted
- 39:59Speaker 2: to do it.
- 40:00Speaker 3: It's so cool. That's so great. Well, uh, hey, Ashley.
- 40:04Speaker 3: This week I was in South Indiana and I did
- 40:07Speaker 3: a speaking engagement at Notre Dame right and it went
- 40:12Speaker 3: really awesome. They were incredible, great turnout to the event.
- 40:17Speaker 3: But after the event, they said, Ben, what we really
- 40:21Speaker 3: want is to FaceTime one of three people, Ashley, I
- 40:25Speaker 3: Ken Eddie, and I said, Ashley might be my go
- 40:28Speaker 3: to here, Like I was going to text you. I
- 40:30Speaker 3: didn't have any service, but I was going to be
- 40:31Speaker 3: texting and be like, hey, I need to FaceTime you
- 40:33Speaker 3: to make a hundred people happy. I've done that to
- 40:35Speaker 3: you before in a bar a.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Couple of weeks ago, and it was so fun that.
- 40:41Speaker 3: She loved you. Yeah, I loved you, Caitlin Bristow or
- 40:44Speaker 3: Chris Harrison. But I was like, I think I could
- 40:46Speaker 3: get Ashley on the line. That's that feels safer. Well,
- 40:48Speaker 3: the next headline is about one of those three. It's wait,
- 40:51Speaker 3: I have any service? It was like in that Yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 3: I tried. I was going to and then I was like,
- 40:55Speaker 3: you know what, I don't have any service. And that
- 40:57Speaker 3: was my excuse. I was like, see, can't do.
- 40:58Speaker 2: It like you're like, but Chris Harrison and Caitlin Bristol
- 41:01Speaker 2: are too big of celebrities, even if they are good
- 41:03Speaker 2: friends to just randomly call or I just like.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I don't talk to them enough. I get it to
- 41:08Speaker 3: like randomly FaceTime them with one hundred random people. I
- 41:11Speaker 3: talked to you enough where I'm like, hey, I'll do it.
- 41:14Speaker 3: See where Ashley's at. I bet she's like hanging out
- 41:17Speaker 3: all right. Kaitlin Bristol reveals ABC salary stuns Bachelor Nation
- 41:21Speaker 3: with this reveal.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Okay, but she doesn't actually say what she got she
- 41:27Speaker 2: said that they haven't offered her. Okay, they offered her
- 41:30Speaker 2: to be the Bachelorette forty thousand, and she said that
- 41:34Speaker 2: you'd think at that at that dollar sign, she'd say, jackpot,
- 41:37Speaker 2: sign me up. Because she's very open about the fact
- 41:40Speaker 2: when she was on Chris Sol's the season of The Bachelor,
- 41:42Speaker 2: she had like zero dollars in her bank account. Yeah,
- 41:45Speaker 2: and so it was like tempting. But then she didn't
- 41:48Speaker 2: accept the offer because she was advised. But I think
- 41:51Speaker 2: her dad to hire an entertainment lawyer. Yes, with their stepdad,
- 41:55Speaker 2: and he changed a lot in the contract and negotiated
- 41:59Speaker 2: it big time for her. And then one of the
- 42:01Speaker 2: executive producers said, you got an entertainment lawyer and you're
- 42:05Speaker 2: asking for this amount of money. I'm sorry, Brice, and
- 42:10Speaker 2: I thought this show was about love for you, I mean,
- 42:15Speaker 2: and then she goes, basically, well, f off, it's about
- 42:18Speaker 2: love and money. Okay, they go hand in hand for
- 42:21Speaker 2: me right now, which is great and I'm so glad
- 42:23Speaker 2: she did this, but it has me wondering, just as
- 42:25Speaker 2: somebody who closely knows producers, which one said that.
- 42:30Speaker 3: All of them trust me. They all play this like
- 42:34Speaker 3: guilt game with you, like, you can't ask for more money?
- 42:37Speaker 3: This is about love. Don't you want to be here
- 42:39Speaker 3: for the right reasons. You would hate if the cast
- 42:41Speaker 3: would find out how much you're getting paid from this
- 42:43Speaker 3: season and think that you're not here for the right reason.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Oh oh, friends say this.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Oh they're all guilty of this. Many They also.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Don't want, like the lead to be making more money
- 42:52Speaker 2: than they are.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Well, no, I don't think we were like trust me.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I mean, Caitlin did our souls did our I I
- 43:00Speaker 3: did not hire an entertainment lawyer, and so as a result,
- 43:02Speaker 3: I was pretty much like, sign me up, I'm here.
- 43:07Speaker 2: The rumor in my land is that you guys are
- 43:12Speaker 2: basically told to tell them how much you made the
- 43:15Speaker 2: previous year at your normal job. Then they match it
- 43:18Speaker 2: is that true? Accurate? It's not on your Yeah, and
- 43:21Speaker 2: so you are like writing instruction manuals.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Making like nothing. Yeah. They you know you remember this
- 43:29Speaker 3: questionnaire When you actually go on to the Bachelor or Bachelor,
- 43:33Speaker 3: they do a big questionnaire with you about your life,
- 43:34Speaker 3: and you say, like, I think there's a question how
- 43:36Speaker 3: much do you make in your normal job or annually?
- 43:39Speaker 3: You don't know that it's actually been a negotiation prop
- 43:43Speaker 3: for later on when they're like star dang. But good
- 43:49Speaker 3: for Kaitlin. I think she's right. It is love and money.
- 43:51Speaker 3: I don't think anybody who is in their twenties or
- 43:54Speaker 3: thirties or forties that get asked to be on the
- 43:57Speaker 3: show or asked to be the lead should not then
- 44:00Speaker 3: and say, well, hey, I want to try to make
- 44:02Speaker 3: the most out of this, not only when it comes
- 44:04Speaker 3: to love, but financially for the future as well, because
- 44:07Speaker 3: I'm leaving my job for this show and I don't
- 44:09Speaker 3: know what life looks like on the outside when I
- 44:12Speaker 3: go back. So I have no problem with some negotiation.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Here's the problem though, or I guess here is a
- 44:19Speaker 3: little insight. They must have really wanted Caitlin, because typically
- 44:22Speaker 3: when somebody pulls this move and they negotiate and they
- 44:26Speaker 3: hire a lawyer and they ask for a lot more money,
- 44:29Speaker 3: the show will just move on like they'll say, Okay,
- 44:31Speaker 3: we'll find somebody else. But they must have really wanted Kaitlin.
- 44:34Speaker 3: And oh but.
- 44:35Speaker 2: That brings up another part that I totally forgot to mention.
- 44:39Speaker 2: She was, of course up against Brittan Nielsen, and they
- 44:43Speaker 2: said to her that she contracted that even if Britt
- 44:48Speaker 2: got the lead role, yeah, that she still was owed
- 44:51Speaker 2: the amount of money that they came up with, and
- 44:55Speaker 2: that is so smart. I mean that also made them
- 44:57Speaker 2: definitely towards the Kaitlyn's.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, we got money wrapped up in Kaitlin. It's like, yeah, yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 3: It's like a contract negotiation in sports, like who's getting
- 45:07Speaker 3: paid more and are they going to get more playing
- 45:08Speaker 3: time or not?
- 45:09Speaker 2: Well exactly, Ben, I have to ask you a headline
- 45:12Speaker 2: making question.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Okay, what's up.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Caitlin was offered forty thousand? Did you get less or
- 45:20Speaker 2: more than that amount?
- 45:21Speaker 3: More?
- 45:23Speaker 2: Okay?
- 45:23Speaker 3: I got more, and.
- 45:25Speaker 2: You know that Caitlyn got more too than for obviously,
- 45:28Speaker 2: I mean.
- 45:28Speaker 3: You got more than I did. Yeah. You know, when
- 45:31Speaker 3: you're in the lead circle, like you kind of call
- 45:33Speaker 3: some people and be like, hey, how much should I
- 45:36Speaker 3: be asking for? It's uh, forty was I think the
- 45:40Speaker 3: starting price that they asked. But I don't know that.
- 45:44Speaker 3: I mean for Caitlin. But I'm assuming yes, she got.
- 45:46Speaker 2: More and that the guys are offered more often.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I don't know that. I don't have any clue the
- 45:53Speaker 3: like again, the behind the scenes of the Bachelor's a
- 45:56Speaker 3: mystery to many, and but I do know that, Yes,
- 45:58Speaker 3: every producer seems to know the strategy of wait, no
- 46:03Speaker 3: way you're asking for that much money, No way you're
- 46:05Speaker 3: asking for more. Like they the guilt, the guilt trip
- 46:10Speaker 3: is there. But I get it right. I mean, it's
- 46:12Speaker 3: their negotiation, it's yours. You're in negotiation with against each
- 46:16Speaker 3: other until you sign the contract, and then you're on
- 46:18Speaker 3: the same team. They play their game, you play yours,
- 46:22Speaker 3: and you see where it spits it out.
- 46:24Speaker 2: One last question. Okay, so rumored that Crystals made basically
- 46:28Speaker 2: more than any other bachelor because he was Nobody really
- 46:33Speaker 2: talked about it, but he was basically a millionaire and
- 46:36Speaker 2: his yearly salaries was pretty high. I think, so, do
- 46:40Speaker 2: you know that that he is one of the higher paid,
- 46:44Speaker 2: if not the highest paid, of all the bachelors.
- 46:46Speaker 3: I know he made more than I did. I know that, Yeah,
- 46:50Speaker 3: I would assume. So. I mean, I think you can
- 46:52Speaker 3: go back and read even past like headlines of where
- 46:55Speaker 3: like the Emily Maynards and those like obviously have been
- 46:58Speaker 3: on record to be some of the most paid leads,
- 47:03Speaker 3: and I think Chris is always up there. I mean,
- 47:05Speaker 3: I'm assuming the prince, like if he had his annual salary.
- 47:09Speaker 3: I'm assuming that was pretty ridiculous, so he might have
- 47:11Speaker 3: made a lot. I don't know, but yeah, Chris did fine. Well. Actually,
- 47:14Speaker 3: that's all the headlines we have for you today. A
- 47:16Speaker 3: lot of headlines today, a lot of stuff going on
- 47:17Speaker 3: in Bachelor Nation. We'll be back next week breaking it down.
- 47:20Speaker 3: Now here's my final thing. I have to do it
- 47:23Speaker 3: because I'm selfish. I leave tomorrow for Dallas, Texas to
- 47:27Speaker 3: play in the Invited Celebrity Classic Golf tournament alongside on
- 47:31Speaker 3: the tournament forty other celebrities, Imit Smith, Tony Romo, Pad Rodriguez.
- 47:35Speaker 3: It's going to be great. Albert Poohols, who actually get
- 47:38Speaker 3: to play with on Wednesday, very exciting. It's gonna be
- 47:41Speaker 3: on NBC. Check it out if you see the leader board,
- 47:43Speaker 3: just scroll down a bit. I'll be there hopefully above wells.
- 47:47Speaker 3: It's going to be a great time. But we will
- 47:49Speaker 3: be back here next week talking about it, sharing all
- 47:52Speaker 3: the stories.
- 47:52Speaker 2: So hey Ben, Hey Ben, Yeah, why aren't your best
- 47:56Speaker 2: friends with Tony Romo?
- 47:57Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 47:57Speaker 2: I think you play like in every golf tournament with him.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Oh well, you'll like.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Secretly be our best friends. We just haven't done we're
- 48:03Speaker 2: best friend. He's a fan.
- 48:04Speaker 3: We just haven't like announced it yet that we're best
- 48:06Speaker 3: but we're best friends. I have a good story about
- 48:08Speaker 3: Tony Romo and our friendship that I'll share next week
- 48:11Speaker 3: on the episode. How about that?
- 48:14Speaker 2: Is it a true story or just a cliffhanger that
- 48:16Speaker 2: you're making up?
- 48:17Speaker 3: It's very true, very very true.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Okay, I'm excited, and I think you're gonna add another
- 48:21Speaker 2: story this week. So good luck. Ben. We're rooting for
- 48:24Speaker 2: you. You're an awesome golfer and we love you well.
- 48:26Speaker 3: I love you all until next time. Ashley, I've been Ben,
- 48:29Speaker 3: I've been Ashley.
