Latest / For Azeroth!: A World of Warcraft Podcast / Late CE Raiding with Casey
Transcript
- 0:00Hello and welcome to a special bonus episode of Four Azeroth.
- 0:03I'm Sean, and today I'm sitting here with a man who I forgot to
- 0:06ask if I should call him by his name or by this ridiculous
- 0:10handle he has chosen for himself online.
- 0:14What I call you I. Call you case.
- 0:16OK, OK, what is big old bucket of water?
- 0:21So it's like a really niche reference to the TV show
- 0:24players. I don't know if you've seen it.
- 0:26It's a League of Legends. Like I think mockumentary is the
- 0:28term. Like they cover a fake E sports
- 0:31team and a big old bucket of water happens to be the top
- 0:36laner. His name in that game, he's not
- 0:38even a main character. He just has a really is a
- 0:41ridiculous name. And I saw it and I was like, I'm
- 0:43a steal that I didn't even spell it right.
- 0:46But my old name used to be the King live.
- 0:48And that was when I streamed a lot and I don't really stream a
- 0:50lot anymore, so I wasn't even alive.
- 0:52So I was like, well, what do I just want to be the king?
- 0:54And I was like, that sounds cringe.
- 0:55So I just changed it to something silly.
- 0:57And I was like, yeah, whatever. But, you know, it made me laugh.
- 1:00Yeah. So that's that's what we went
- 1:02with. And I started creating content
- 1:03again and people were like, I can't find what's this guy's
- 1:06channel name again? And I'm like, it's not great,
- 1:08but I might stick with it just because like I think it's
- 1:11memorable. Like you see the that
- 1:13combination of number or letters and you're like, yeah, that was
- 1:17a guy that I watched, you know, so I don't know, maybe.
- 1:19Yeah, it is. And it's sort of fitting because
- 1:21you play mage in Warcraft. Yeah, that was that was actually
- 1:26just the the season thing. I'm more of an elemental shaman,
- 1:28but like they also use water, so, you know, like it works out.
- 1:31Yeah. Yeah, I like it.
- 1:33Big, big water guy. Hey, we're water fans here.
- 1:35It's like nature's soda pop. So the more water we get, the
- 1:38better. Casey, let's start off.
- 1:41Why don't you tell our listeners who you are and why you're here
- 1:43today? Yeah, so I, I think the best way
- 1:47to say is I'm just a raid leader for a late see Wow Guild.
- 1:51I've been making like YouTube content kind of documenting our
- 1:54process progress throughout this year.
- 1:56We've been playing for around 3 tiers.
- 1:57So I went back, I, I found some numbers just to like give you
- 2:00guys perspective. So we started in Cataclysm
- 2:03actually for like a classic reading and we did tier 11.
- 2:06This is my first tier raid leading for them.
- 2:08And we are US. We are world 662 under mine.
- 2:12We are 2262, Manafort, we are 1846 and then midnight right now
- 2:17we're around 1000. But that might change because
- 2:19Alura is really hard. So we'll see.
- 2:21We'll see how that ends up going.
- 2:23But yeah, we were basically the last week of the tier finishing
- 2:27and I started just talking about our progress of the tier and
- 2:30being like, hey, like this is a perspective that I don't hear a
- 2:32lot in the in the scene because I think that everyone's playing
- 2:35at a higher level. They're playing Hall of Fame or
- 2:38raced all first and stuff. And you don't really hear about
- 2:39the guys below that who are like, hey, hey, we're still
- 2:42here. So I thought about kind of
- 2:44giving that perspective a little bit.
- 2:46I like that. What What is the biggest
- 2:48difference between because some of our listeners don't rate at
- 2:52all, we have we have across the board spectrum of of listeners.
- 2:55What is the biggest difference between those ones who are
- 2:58rating in that Hall of Fame range and your team?
- 3:02To your level. So there's a lot of differences.
- 3:04I think one of them is the, the people who are rating Hall of
- 3:06Fame. They definitely, they start to
- 3:08prioritize performance a lot more than like social.
- 3:11So a lot of the people at our level, they are, they're just
- 3:14getting into mythic rating mostly because they enjoy the
- 3:16game. They're having a lot of fun
- 3:17playing and they're like, hey, I, I'd like to dip my toe into
- 3:20this. And they're having fun playing
- 3:22with their friends. Whereas like at a Hall of Fame
- 3:23level, you have to make sacrifices because it's like,
- 3:26like you can't always have your best friend in the raid because
- 3:28your best friend kind of sucks sometimes.
- 3:30You know, it's just like something that you deal with in
- 3:32the game. And it's like having to make
- 3:34those sacrifices is very difficult.
- 3:36So at our level, it's like, OK, do we want to make this decision
- 3:39for fun or do we want to make this decision to get better?
- 3:42And often times it, that's like a difficult call because like
- 3:45you have all these connections to people and stuff and it is
- 3:47really it's, it's very difficult to balance those two things at
- 3:50this level. Yeah, that that is a huge
- 3:53challenge. How do you when you're
- 3:55recruiting? So I imagine at that, having to
- 3:58have those discussions, do you see a lot of turnover at your
- 4:02level to people that are leaving for higher product guilds or
- 4:06people who are frustrated that you know you're not moving in a
- 4:08certain direction or not moving fast enough?
- 4:11So we've only been rating 3 tiers.
- 4:12So I think it's really hard to say.
- 4:14We've experienced a lot of growing pain specifically this
- 4:17year that I can talk about later.
- 4:19But for the most part we don't have too much turnover because
- 4:23because everyone is such close friends that it's like like
- 4:25imagining rating somewhere else kind of sucks.
- 4:27We we had a guy leave last year who is really cool and he wanted
- 4:32to pursue a Guild that rated three days a week and we only
- 4:34rated two days a week. So I totally understand that,
- 4:36especially because like, I mean, I'm the one running the gold and
- 4:39part of my motivation is that like I want to play at a higher
- 4:42level because that's why I pushed us to get better.
- 4:45So it's like I, I get it. You know, if somebody says I
- 4:47want to leave, I think a lot of people, especially at our level,
- 4:50are kind of like spiteful where it's like you're I'm, I want to
- 4:52leave. I want to find like something
- 4:53that pushes a little higher and they'll be like, well, if you
- 4:56leave, you're never coming back. It's like I, I told the guy, I'm
- 4:58like, hey, if you want to go try that, go try that.
- 5:00If you don't like it, you can come back to shoot me a message
- 5:02and like, it'll be cool. I can't guarantee he's going to
- 5:04have a roster spot immediately, but it's like, there's no hard
- 5:07feelings. I get it, you know, So like
- 5:10there's a little bit of turnover, but I don't think it's
- 5:12crazy. No, it's not too bad.
- 5:14Like that, that's, that's, that's really impressive because
- 5:16I, I hear almost all of the time that the roster boss is, is the
- 5:20hardest boss. So if you're keeping your
- 5:22turnover minimal, I think that speaks to the culture you've
- 5:24built. And we're going to get into that
- 5:26a bit later. I want to talk about you
- 5:27specifically, Boo. You're the GM, you're the raid
- 5:30lead. Do you have any leadership
- 5:32experience in like an outside job or in in other other video
- 5:36games? I actually, I do have a little
- 5:39bit of leadership experience. Just wanted to clear.
- 5:41I actually not the GM. So I'm, I'm the raid lead.
- 5:44I, I run the Guild with another friend of mine, Phil.
- 5:47He is incredible. I do I could not do this without
- 5:50him, but so for the leadership experience, I also like I, I
- 5:55manage another YouTube channel for, for professional work.
- 5:58And with that, I have to like work with editors and stuff like
- 6:01that. And then beyond that as well.
- 6:04I used to play a lot of Valerie. I'm in a Valor and that's kind
- 6:07of where I practice like IG Elling, they call it there and
- 6:10like that. That kind of helped a little
- 6:12bit. So when I came over to Wow, it
- 6:14was nice that I got to start in Cataclysm, which had ten man
- 6:17rating and like leading in a 10 man is a lot easier than leading
- 6:21in a 20 man. And in a 10 man it was a lot
- 6:23more comfortable too, because it's like these guys are all my
- 6:25closest friends and the 20 man. I'm not going to say that we're
- 6:28not like all friends, but it's like they get a lot more people.
- 6:30I'm not as close with everybody as I was in that 10 man.
- 6:34So it like, yeah, I think starting small and like kind of
- 6:36growing with it. I it helped me learn a lot
- 6:40beyond that. I mean, I used to work in a like
- 6:41a restaurant and stuff and I was kind of like, felt like a like a
- 6:44leader. I wasn't a manager, but like,
- 6:45you know, you have like the, the people on the shifts who are
- 6:47like, you need something like ask me, I could help you out,
- 6:50you know, sort of thing. So yeah.
- 6:52You're the go to guy. Yeah.
- 6:53So while I was like, I'm not like I'm not like working on
- 6:56Amazon or something like I, I have a little bit of leadership
- 6:59experience. Yeah.
- 7:00All right, if the bartender needs a big little bucket of
- 7:02water, for example, you're the person.
- 7:05I'll go grab that bucket of water or a bucket of ice, you
- 7:07know, I, I, I'm there for you, you know?
- 7:10I love don't ever change it. It's the best.
- 7:12It's the best handle ever. Please don't ever change it.
- 7:16That's good to hear. Yeah, it's good stuff.
- 7:20OK, so you're right. Then where where do you go for
- 7:23you to improve? So you're going to coach your
- 7:25team and stuff to get them up, but where do you go for you to
- 7:27get better? What resources do you use?
- 7:30So I mean, there's a lot of avenues you can get better, like
- 7:33you can focus on personal performance, which I think it's
- 7:35kind of like a, like, I, I think it's a, it's a bad idea.
- 7:39You go down the rabbit hole and it's like, if you're always
- 7:41focusing on yourself, then like you're like, you're not helping
- 7:44the group as much as you could be.
- 7:46So you have to kind of take care of yourself though too.
- 7:48Because I do feel like there's a balance where, especially when
- 7:50you're starting out, when you're recruiting people, you have to
- 7:53be I, I at least perceive that you have to be respected as a
- 7:55player. I think that if you bring people
- 7:58in and you like people probably played that group where it's
- 8:00like, are you like join a pug and like the raid leader is
- 8:02telling everyone to do things, but he himself sucks.
- 8:04It's like, you know, like he, he has to, he has to take care of
- 8:07it. So I mean, like I to fulfill
- 8:10that. I play the game a lot.
- 8:11I, I watch all this like high end content.
- 8:13I try to learn the best of the for my class and I try to make
- 8:15sure that I'm playing well. As far as raid leading stuff,
- 8:18there's not a lot available. The you have the raid leader
- 8:20exchange pretty good discord, although I'm kind of afraid to
- 8:23ask questions in there because they have I have seen them be
- 8:25kind of mean to people sometimes.
- 8:27So it's like a little scary and then like.
- 8:30Shout out to Draco. It's a good community, like
- 8:33genuinely, I think the, the reason that they're me in there
- 8:35is because they expect you to do your own research.
- 8:38They they don't expect you to just come in there and ask you
- 8:40them to do everything for you. So sometimes people ask
- 8:43questions and it's like, I think like you don't get to see like
- 8:46the prep that that person's done.
- 8:47Maybe that person feels like they've done a lot of prep, but
- 8:49yeah, like you, you should be practised in like figuring
- 8:53things out for yourself. And I understand it, but like,
- 8:55yeah, it is it is kind of scary, you know.
- 8:57And then the other thing too is like YouTube, you can go to
- 9:00YouTube, but like on YouTube, the only thing available is like
- 9:02Max has like a raid leading series from like a while ago and
- 9:06it's like that's not perfectly applicable all the time.
- 9:08It's good advice, you know, but like I'm not like he's leading
- 9:11every stroll first Guild and I'm not.
- 9:12So it's like some of the things like don't always apply.
- 9:15So aside with that, that's kind of like it.
- 9:18There's like some smaller creators who are doing, you
- 9:19know, like similar things, but it's like sometimes I feel like
- 9:22you watch it is like, I don't fully agree with the advice, but
- 9:25like you can take bits and pieces and that's kind of the
- 9:27idea is like somebody's going to say something might not be 100%
- 9:29right, but it's like, Oh yeah, that's a good idea.
- 9:31You know, you can kind of go with that.
- 9:32So other than that, I mean, like, I'm basically like Guild
- 9:36lean is basically running like a business.
- 9:37So you can kind of like look around and like you can listen
- 9:39to like different business people talk about things and
- 9:41like working with like employees and stuff like that.
- 9:44Not quite the same thing, but like this.
- 9:45There's some transfer, you know, So yeah, there's a lot of
- 9:49information everywhere if you know where to look.
- 9:51But like, I don't think it's perfect.
- 9:52I don't think I'm doing everything correctly.
- 9:53You know, I'm like I'm, I'm just figuring things out as I go and
- 9:55that's all you can do, so. Like that, Yeah, you're
- 9:59progging. You're progging with the team as
- 10:01a whole. It's we're going to get there.
- 10:02We're going to, we're going to figure it out.
- 10:04Yeah, making a lot of wrong decisions along the way, too.
- 10:08You figure it out, you figure it out.
- 10:10It's. I somebody told me once that a
- 10:12wrong decision is better than no decision.
- 10:14So yeah, at least you're doing that.
- 10:17Have you considered 21st manning?
- 10:19Have you, Because obviously huge advantage in that you have you
- 10:21see Max scribe all the top guilds doing it is have you have
- 10:24you considered that as opposed to being in playing or are you
- 10:27like I want to be in this fight? So right now I'm at the point
- 10:32where I just want the best for the Guild.
- 10:34So on Laura, I was considering 21st Manning, but I think one of
- 10:38the bigger issues with 21st Manning at our level is the
- 10:40roster boss. I I I like not not not to strike
- 10:45my ego. I play pretty well in game.
- 10:47I'm not I'm not not the best player.
- 10:48I'm not the worst player. So like putting me in unless
- 10:51there's somebody who is better than me, it doesn't really make
- 10:53a ton of sense for the raid. And then beyond that, also like,
- 10:57yeah, people just call out and stuff and it's like, well, who's
- 10:59going to jump in and play for them?
- 11:01So I was kind of debating 21st Manning because I was like,
- 11:04well, if somebody does call out on this boss, I can hop in.
- 11:06I know I'm going to play well and that'll work.
- 11:09But yeah, like it just instantly first week on Laura, it's like
- 11:11we like call outs. I'm just like, well, I'm just
- 11:13doing anyway. And then after I played like 2-3
- 11:15nights, it's like, OK, does it make more sense for me to sit
- 11:17and bring someone else in or just make more sense for me to
- 11:19play? So that's kind of like the thing
- 11:21that we running into and Laura, I have done it for other bosses
- 11:24on like re clear just so other people can play and I think that
- 11:26it's fun. I do think it's a trap, though.
- 11:29I think like there's a lot of things you see these top guilds
- 11:31do that I see a lot of people try to replicate at our level.
- 11:35And it's just like I kind of just like feel like why?
- 11:37You know, like there's the 21st man.
- 11:39I don't think it's as necessary for us.
- 11:41If I did 21st man, would we get the enough like value out of it
- 11:44to like warrant doing it in the first place?
- 11:47Or would it just be like worse Also then I have to like have
- 11:49people customize their UI for me and like that sounds kind of
- 11:51annoying as well. And then like also like things
- 11:54like splits. You see, like these top guilds
- 11:56do splits and it's like, should we do splits?
- 11:58It's like the answer's no, we should not.
- 12:03Like there's a bunch of other things that you just like to see
- 12:05these guilds doing. It's like, no, should we level
- 12:0810 characters? No, we shouldn't.
- 12:10That's that's a bad idea. That's it.
- 12:12Couldn't. That's the most true statement I
- 12:14think anybody's ever made. Like, should we do splits?
- 12:18No, I got to be honest, I don't. I'm not even sure the Top Gear
- 12:21should be doing splits. Well, it like, it feels like the
- 12:24answer for like how to improve is is glamorous, you know, like,
- 12:28yeah, we should do all these 15 different things that like the
- 12:30race is doing or whatever. I don't even know what they are,
- 12:32but I'm sure that you could come up with a number of things
- 12:35that's like, oh, this was really cool.
- 12:36The race does this, should we do this?
- 12:37And the answer is no, you shouldn't.
- 12:38You should to get better at rating, you should read more.
- 12:42That's kind of the answer. You should read more, do a
- 12:45little bit of prep, watch some guides, you know, maybe playing
- 12:47your cooldown, stuff like that. Practice your rotation on a
- 12:49target dummy. It's not, it's not glamorous,
- 12:52but that's the answer. That's how you get better at the
- 12:54game as you play the game more. So yeah, that's kind of my take.
- 12:59Yeah, no, it's good take. It's good take.
- 13:00Let's talk about the guilt specifically.
- 13:02So I'm going to use the term race to world last Guild, but I
- 13:04don't think I think we've seen these three tiers.
- 13:07You're trending away from race to world last.
- 13:08Maybe this tier you get a month off more fingers crossed
- 13:12somewhere in that range. But what are some of the
- 13:14challenges of leading a Guild at your at your level?
- 13:17I mean, like, where do you start?
- 13:20You know? So right now I, I'm going to go
- 13:22for the more unique things because it's like I feel like
- 13:24there's, there's a lot of challenges you could probably
- 13:26guess, but right now it's actually interest where, where I
- 13:30don't know how many weeks in the day, like 2-2 ish months, a
- 13:32little bit over maybe. And people just people just
- 13:36start to lose interest. You know, right now we finished
- 13:38raid and what do we do? We log on to Abraham mayhem.
- 13:41We play some mark Raiders, we play some path of exile or
- 13:44something. It's like when you're a race to
- 13:45Alaska, you, you never stop raiding.
- 13:48This is something that we mentioned briefly before the
- 13:50show is that like you see all these Hall of Fame players like
- 13:53sitting around and they're like, there's nothing to do.
- 13:55And it's like, well, I still feel like I have six weeks of
- 13:58Lura Prague left, you know, like I'm like, I, I have so much left
- 14:02to do that it's like there's no end insight.
- 14:05And I think that that's one of the biggest challenges is that
- 14:06like, as you get later in the season, when you lose interest,
- 14:09not only do you lose interest, but you play worse.
- 14:11You know, it's like we're, we're on the hardest boss that we've
- 14:13ever fought and everyone needs to be locked in 100% of the
- 14:17time. And like that's that's really
- 14:19tough to do when it's like people are kind of like, well,
- 14:22you know, it's the summer, kind of kind of want to go outside.
- 14:24I'm feeling it too. I'm not going to not even going
- 14:26to lie. It's like I was doing raid the
- 14:28other day. We're wiping in phase one as
- 14:30which is the lyric experience. And I'm just like, I kind of
- 14:32want to play Path of exile. I'm not going to lie, guys, I
- 14:35kind of would rather be doing anything else right now.
- 14:37But no, I mean, like we'll get through it and like we'll kind
- 14:40of truck through. But yeah, it's it interest is
- 14:42really difficult. I don't know if you you
- 14:44experience the same thing ever, but.
- 14:47Yeah, I, I definitely, there are definitely times when it's like,
- 14:49OK, the interest is waning and just like I just don't feel like
- 14:51logging in and you sort of shift into that raid log mentality.
- 14:54What are some of the things that you do to to keep the team
- 14:58focused and and dialed in when you when you could tell that
- 15:01they're thinking about playing Poe instead of of the game?
- 15:04Well, I was talking to one of our other officers about this
- 15:06last night and they kind of they're, they're always like the
- 15:09one that like reels me back in because like I'm, I'm sometimes
- 15:12I'm a doomer, I'm not going to lie.
- 15:13But like, I was talking to them and they're saying, well, like,
- 15:16yeah, I could see why this might seem like people are not
- 15:18interested, but I think it's a good sign that everyone is
- 15:20playing together. You know, when, when we log out
- 15:22of raid, we don't all go our separate ways.
- 15:24It's like some of us go play arc Raiders together.
- 15:26Some of us that were playing Path of Exile or whatever, and
- 15:29then some of us are playing ARM, ahem, immediately.
- 15:31And it's a great time. Everyone's having fun.
- 15:33So it's like, Oh yeah, maybe, maybe it's not terrible that
- 15:36we're doing other things as long as we're doing things together,
- 15:38you know, I think that that's good.
- 15:39Like everyone enjoys playing, hanging out with each other.
- 15:42And then like also like in Raid two, my interest is is wavering
- 15:46a little bit, but like also, I mean, we're fourth night on
- 15:49Laura 160 poles deep and we're still having fun.
- 15:52We're joking around like the rain nights aren't miserable.
- 15:55I would rather be a little further than we are.
- 15:57But it's like as long as we're not like yelling at each other
- 16:00and raid like it's a good time, you know, like we're not.
- 16:04If we're if it was a very bad vibes, then I think that would
- 16:07be way worse because that's when people quit, you know, they're
- 16:09like, well, why am I here? I don't want to be here.
- 16:12This isn't fun, you know, So at least at least it's fun, you
- 16:15know, so we have a good time like that.
- 16:17Like that, that's you're that other officers.
- 16:19That's very astute. Like, yes, we're not playing
- 16:23well, but we're still together. You're still building that
- 16:26camaraderie. You're still like, the team is
- 16:28together. You're not at each other's
- 16:29stroke. You're not logging up, going.
- 16:30Oh, man, I hate Casey. Why does he get hit by a Glade
- 16:33every time? Yeah.
- 16:34Why did we make him a seed carrier?
- 16:36This was the worst decision ever.
- 16:38Yeah, it definitely, it could be really rough.
- 16:41But no, they're they're very intelligent.
- 16:42And it's like, like I said, with the Guild leader too, it's like
- 16:45I couldn't I couldn't do it without these people because
- 16:47it's just it is a lot of work to handle alone.
- 16:49And that that was actually the next difficulty that I had for
- 16:52Race to World last build that listed here is that when you
- 16:55start out, you're kind of going at it alone a lot of the times,
- 16:59at least in my experience. Maybe if you did you start your
- 17:03Guild from the ground up or did you like did you join into it
- 17:06or? No, I just so the Guild that I'm
- 17:08in now, I joined and they had been around for 13 years when I
- 17:12joined them, but that the Guild and actually Guild prior to that
- 17:14was I've been together for two years.
- 17:17I don't think I've started a Guild since Burning Crusade.
- 17:20Well, I mean, like, and that's that's an interesting thing too,
- 17:22is that like guilds don't just like spawn a lot of the times,
- 17:25but it's like our Guild was a classic Guild.
- 17:27So it had been around prior to me joining.
- 17:29And then when I joined it, eventually I pivoted us to
- 17:32retail. And I was kind of like the
- 17:33driving factor in doing that, which also meant that a lot of
- 17:37the responsibility fell on me. I was really leading Cata.
- 17:40There's ten of us that like the people were kind of losing
- 17:42interest again. And I was like, well, the only
- 17:44way to keep the Guild alive is we we do content that's new and
- 17:48the only new content is in retail.
- 17:50So we should go retail. That's what we play already.
- 17:51We did Mythic plus. And I love the drive to go to
- 17:54retail. And then doing that, I had to do
- 17:56all the recruiting. I had to do all the boss
- 17:58strategy. I had to like figure out like,
- 17:59how do we even get into Mythic, you know, and I'm doing like all
- 18:03this like prep to get us into it.
- 18:04And then like once we got into undermine, it's like I had to do
- 18:06all the weak auras at the time. That was huge thing.
- 18:09OK, we have to kill sticks, bunk drunker.
- 18:11How are we going to do that? You know, So like I had to do
- 18:14all this prep and at the time, like I was kind of doing it
- 18:17alone. I had the Guild leader still, he
- 18:18was around. But it's like when I'm the one
- 18:20leading the charge, I don't think he knew exactly how to
- 18:22help me. You know, It's like I'm, I'm
- 18:24kind of handling everything. But I would say that like the
- 18:27biggest thing at our level is that you need a friend.
- 18:29Like if you, if you're going at it alone, there's no way you're
- 18:33going to survive. I think that like sometimes you
- 18:35get into things with friends where it's like, Oh yeah, we're
- 18:38going to do this cool thing together.
- 18:39And then you find out one friend's doing all the work and
- 18:41there's like the other friends are like, Oh yeah, we're doing
- 18:43this cool thing together. You know, that doesn't work.
- 18:45Like you need to delegate, you need, you need help and yeah,
- 18:50you're just going to lose your mind.
- 18:51I think that like, at first I feel like I did a lot of heavy
- 18:53lifting, but like, I mean, this tier, we wouldn't be rating if
- 18:56we weren't for the ALEA. There's just no way.
- 18:58I've told him multiple times they're like, hey, I don't have
- 19:00an enemy to do anything right now.
- 19:01And he would kind of pick up and he would hit up with that a lot
- 19:04with that. So no, yeah, you need, you need
- 19:07people on your side. There's no way you can do this
- 19:09alone. I like that.
- 19:10How did you recruit people into helping you with that stuff?
- 19:15That's tough actually, because nobody wants to do it.
- 19:17That's like the right? Thing nobody wants.
- 19:19Nobody wants, you know, extra work for nobody.
- 19:22Well, yeah. And like, everyone loves to
- 19:24complain about things, but nobody's going to be like, the
- 19:25one to step up. So, I mean, when there's a
- 19:28problem, we kind of just like, we have a few people on the
- 19:30court. Like I said, the guild's been
- 19:32around a while and we've had a lot of people who, like, have
- 19:34been officers who are still around.
- 19:36You know, we ask them for help sometimes and like, they help
- 19:38out. And like we have, we have
- 19:41recruited officers from within and like it, it is kind of a
- 19:45test cuz it's like, I think that the problem is too, like we're
- 19:48asking for help, but we always don't know what help we need.
- 19:51We just know that we need it. You know, it's like, so like
- 19:54we're like, hey, come in, like help us out.
- 19:56And then the person comes in, it's like, well, we don't really
- 19:57give them anything to do. And then they're thinking the
- 19:59same thing, which is like, I don't know how to help right
- 20:01now. It's like, if you don't tell the
- 20:02person what to do, they're not going to know what to do.
- 20:04So also like, I think I'm prior bosses, like when the bosses are
- 20:08easier, there's not as much like everything's kind of going fine.
- 20:11You want to smooth sailing, you know.
- 20:13I think that it's like it's hard to tell what work there is to be
- 20:15done, but it's like when you really hit that wall when you're
- 20:17on dementias for 500 poles, when you're on Laura, that's when
- 20:21it's like, oh man, there's, there's stuff that can be done
- 20:23and people who can help with things.
- 20:24And I think that's where people kind of step up.
- 20:26So yeah, when it, when it's really hard, that's where you're
- 20:29going to feel who steps up and who doesn't.
- 20:30And you kind of just got to, you got to find the people who do
- 20:32and you got to hold on to them because I think that that's,
- 20:35that's, that's where, that's where they shine, you know?
- 20:38I like that. I like that going it alone.
- 20:41That's I think, I think a lot of raid leaders will be able to to
- 20:45hear that and instantly, instantly, like I can't really
- 20:50think of the word right now, but when they it makes sense, I feel
- 20:54like I'm having a stroke. There's a word when you hear a
- 20:57thing and it makes sense to you because you experience it.
- 21:00I don't know what the word is right now.
- 21:02I don't know, relatable. Yeah, really.
- 21:05There we go. That's what we're going to go
- 21:08with. I think you're looking for a
- 21:10little more difficult word, but that's.
- 21:11Yeah, the oysters are going to let me know afterwards in the
- 21:14discord. They're going to come tell me
- 21:16what word, what word I forgot. But what else?
- 21:18Is there anything else big, anything that we wouldn't expect
- 21:21that you have? I mean, I wrote down like
- 21:24there's like roster and bench management.
- 21:26I think that you would probably expect this to be worse for us.
- 21:30I'm, I'm assuming for for a lot of guilds at our level, this is
- 21:33pretty bad. I would say for us, it's
- 21:35actually not that bad. And I can maybe provide like an
- 21:37anecdote for that to help people.
- 21:38Is this is not like, I think when you have a lot of
- 21:41confidence in what you've created, Umm, I think it helps
- 21:45when people join us and they raid with us.
- 21:46I, I'm very confident that like this is the place you want to
- 21:50be, you know, like we're not elite, but it's like the people
- 21:53that we're bringing in. I, I, I see like the level of
- 21:56player that they are a lot of the times and it's like they're
- 21:58not like, I don't mean that in like a demeaning way.
- 22:00They're they're good players, but it's like a lot of people I
- 22:02understand, haven't they? They don't raid at a Hall of
- 22:05Fame level. Most of the groups they play
- 22:06with are bad. And when you recognize that when
- 22:09people come in and they see, hey, these guys are having fun,
- 22:12they're pretty good at the game. And it seems like they kind of
- 22:15kind of like they, they know what they're doing like a little
- 22:16bit. I think it's like, I, I'm pretty
- 22:18confident when people play with us and like they want to keep
- 22:20playing with us, you know, like this is a place people want to
- 22:23be. And I think that when you have
- 22:24that sort of mentality and like you create that culture.
- 22:27Yeah. Like when people join us,
- 22:29there's, there's not a lot of turnover, like I said.
- 22:31And like the people that do turnover, it's, it's never like
- 22:34in a bad way. I don't think people are like
- 22:35rage leaving our Guild or anything.
- 22:37So yeah, like if you yeah, to avoid turnover for us, it's kind
- 22:41of just like, yeah, just just have fun, you know, have a have
- 22:43a good community and like kind of building that a lot.
- 22:46And then for like the bench management, I think that that's
- 22:48probably the most stressful thing is like when we have a lot
- 22:51of people that we want to play with, it's like, OK, you can
- 22:53only have 20 in raid and it's like managing that.
- 22:56That is probably the hardest part of leading the Guild to be
- 22:58entirely honest, because it's like, like I said earlier, you
- 23:00have to make that balance where it's like, OK, we need to pick
- 23:03the best person for this roster and the best players are not
- 23:07always the best fit. Where it's like, okay, this guy
- 23:09maybe doesn't fit in as well. And it's like or this like this
- 23:12person is an important part for like the Guild culture.
- 23:14And it's like that's something we want to maintain.
- 23:16And it's like you're comparing the players and I would say that
- 23:19our our skill discrepancy, but within the Guild, it's like it's
- 23:22not too bad. Like most of our players are
- 23:23around the same skill level. So like sometimes we're making
- 23:25decisions where it's like, OK, this guy might be a slightly
- 23:27better player, but like this guy is going to be a lot more fun to
- 23:30be around. You know, it's like, I don't
- 23:31really know. So it's like, it's hard to say,
- 23:34but yeah. Those vibes matter.
- 23:37We, we have a cat in our Guild that I think unanimously across
- 23:41the board, everybody in the Guild agrees that he has the
- 23:45greatest talent for breaking tension and keeping things light
- 23:49out of anybody. And whenever he's in like it'll
- 23:52be whatever point of the night. Everybody has these moments in
- 23:55the night where it's like a really bad wipe just happened or
- 23:58you feel like you've hit a wall in progress and everybody's So
- 24:00you can sort of feel the, the frayed, frayed nerves happening.
- 24:03And in that moment, he'll be like our our raid leader, our
- 24:08raid that his name is Cindy and he calls her Sydney, but he'll
- 24:11he'll say Sydney and then he'll ask like the most obvious
- 24:15question from the prep that we've done, you know, am I
- 24:18supposed to push this extra action button?
- 24:20Well, you know, it's just like, and he obviously knows the
- 24:23answer, but it just the way he asks it, he actually sort of
- 24:25sounds like a cat even is just just it breaks attention and
- 24:29that that doesn't matter. Having that end does matter.
- 24:31Yeah, like that's what you can't because you can't manufacture
- 24:34that stuff. But it's like, what?
- 24:36I'm talking the whole night. I'm going to sound upset.
- 24:38I can't hide it, you know, like somebody, somebody dies.
- 24:40Also, as a raid leader, too, you see everything, you know, you're
- 24:42like, watching this guy. You're like, what is he doing?
- 24:45Like, yeah. And like, yeah, when you see
- 24:47that, it's hard for me to stay motivated because I'm like,
- 24:49guys, guys, come on. And yeah, having those people
- 24:51that are, like, going to joke around.
- 24:52And that's something I've tried to get a lot better at, too.
- 24:54Is it like when you're frustrated and people are like
- 24:57joking around and stuff, it's easy to get more frustrated
- 25:00around. Like why, why are, why are you
- 25:01guys goofing off? Like we're playing terrible?
- 25:03And it's like, that's something that I've gotten a lot better.
- 25:05It's being like, like you can't, you cannot kill that.
- 25:08You know, if they, if they're having fun, let them have fun.
- 25:11You try to go through it. It's like, hey, guys, we're
- 25:12pulling, you know, but like, I'm not, I'm not going to crash out
- 25:15or anything. But it's like, yeah, when the,
- 25:17when the vibes are good, you want to keep the vibes good.
- 25:19And it's like, if we're joking around but we're playing bad,
- 25:21that's fine because I like, we can just dial back in, you know?
- 25:24But like, yeah, once you kill the vibes, it is so hard to
- 25:26bring it back. So having those people that like
- 25:28are going to keep it up, you know, it's, it's important.
- 25:32Yeah, Do you get that disappointed dad sound?
- 25:34I sometimes I'll be like, OK, one of these two arrows has to
- 25:37hit Demi arrow. You both missed.
- 25:39Yeah, I, I've sighed a few times and I try not to.
- 25:43My brother gave me a quote that I, I, this sticks with me a lot,
- 25:47he says. Like when people audibly sigh,
- 25:49like you hear it, it feels like they are releasing their
- 25:52negative energy and they're giving it straight to you.
- 25:55Like, so yeah, I try to, I try to avoid stuff like that because
- 25:58like, I don't like, I don't want to be mean.
- 26:00I don't think I'm the type of guy to be mean.
- 26:02I think I, I think I have been mean.
- 26:04But like, I don't, I don't like that, you know, like I don't, I
- 26:07don't like feeling mean or like feeling like I'm bringing people
- 26:10down. So I try to be the person I want
- 26:12to be. But yeah, it's at this point a
- 26:14dad does kick in sometimes. I think it happens for everyone.
- 26:17I. Like that.
- 26:19That's a great quote. I'm going to, I'm stealing that.
- 26:21I hope that's OK. I am.
- 26:22Yeah, I mean, I took it from my brother.
- 26:24He you could take it from me. I have another good quote here
- 26:28from one of our Raiders too, regarding bench management that
- 26:30I think has been helpful for me this tier, which is if you ever
- 26:33like wondering about like who to bench and stuff, you're making
- 26:35the right decisions. Like I said, you have to make
- 26:36the right decision that you feel like for the Guild.
- 26:38But somebody told me this tier, you don't bench players, they
- 26:41bench themselves. And that's something that I, I
- 26:43kind of agree with too, where it's like, yeah, you're looking
- 26:46for people to like play and like people who don't play.
- 26:47And it's like, OK, well, this guy, guy didn't fill his vault
- 26:50this week. And he also is not fully
- 26:52upgraded yet. He doesn't have sockets or
- 26:53something. This is an extreme example.
- 26:55Nobody in our rates like this. But like, yeah, like if they're
- 26:58not putting in as much effort as somebody else, it's like, yeah,
- 27:00you got to take the guy who's putting in more effort because
- 27:03you have to like, kind of you have to facilitate the culture.
- 27:05It's like, what culture do we want to have in the Guild?
- 27:07Do we want to have a culture of people who don't put in the
- 27:10effort and don't keep up? Or do we want to be like, hey,
- 27:13like doing these things is important to us, you know?
- 27:14And it's like, you don't necessarily.
- 27:16I don't think you need to draw a hard line, but like the people
- 27:19that you recruit and the culture that you keep is like that's the
- 27:22community that you create. So yeah, I think that's kind of
- 27:25a good way to look at it. Let's talk with it.
- 27:27We keep mentioning culture. We keep bringing it up.
- 27:30How do you do that? How do you build this culture of
- 27:31success? Is there anything you actively
- 27:33do to make sure that your culture stays safe?
- 27:37So just to preface this, I don't feel like I'm particularly good
- 27:40at this, by the way. Like I think I'm, I think I'm
- 27:41doing it and I think I'm figuring it out as I go.
- 27:43But like, I don't think I'm, I'm like a guru or anything, which
- 27:47is why a lot of the times, like in my videos when I talk about
- 27:49it, it's like, hey guys, like this is how I feel.
- 27:52But like I'm this is not a guide, you know, like I said,
- 27:57take, take bits and pieces, you know, But yeah, it depends on
- 28:00who you ask in the guilt. Maybe, maybe some people say I
- 28:02do a pretty good job. Maybe some people say they're
- 28:04upset. I don't know.
- 28:06But I think you want to have fun, but you want to get better.
- 28:09That's my take, and I think both are very important at our level
- 28:13anyway. But being bad isn't fun.
- 28:16So if you're bad, you're not having a very good time.
- 28:19Being bad is relative, by the way.
- 28:20So for us at this point in time, we're progging Laura and we're
- 28:24dying to glaze and stuff. That feels bad to me right now.
- 28:27But like also like feeling bad for somebody might be like, oh,
- 28:31we're on Paladins and we're dying to Shields or something.
- 28:33You know, it's like that like that.
- 28:34That's different levels. You know, if that's the hardest
- 28:36boss that you thought that's the hardest boss, you thought you're
- 28:37there, you know, so being bad is relative.
- 28:40But if you're probably in the tier for like 20-3 weeks
- 28:43straight for me and you're wiping to the like the same
- 28:46mistakes and stuff, especially if they feel really silly,
- 28:49there's just so much pressure to like meet your goals that it's
- 28:51like, you know, I feel like once you get that late in the tier,
- 28:55I'm like, I'm not having fun anymore.
- 28:57Also, it becomes harder to recruit later in the tier
- 29:00because it's like everyone's kind of like burnt out.
- 29:02They're like, I kind of want to quit the game.
- 29:04There are some people who are like late in the tier, like I
- 29:06want to kill Laura still. But like it just things become
- 29:09more difficult as time goes on. People lose interest, like I
- 29:11said, And then people start pointing fingers when they're
- 29:13frustrated. So it's like you end up in this
- 29:15situation where it's like, OK, we want to have fun, but we're
- 29:18really bad. And now people are angry and
- 29:20it's like, OK, you have to at some point prioritize being good
- 29:24at our level anywhere. That's that's what we're
- 29:26feeling. But also getting better isn't
- 29:28always fun, where it's like, OK, and we have to hold people
- 29:31accountable. And I think that's really
- 29:34difficult to do when you're like, friends with everybody,
- 29:36especially if, like, people are kind of like, grandfathered in.
- 29:38If you have like older members in the Guild where it's like,
- 29:40well, you've never called anybody out before and now you
- 29:43start doing it, it's like, well, OK, hold on, Buster.
- 29:45You know, you also have to like, you just have to make
- 29:49sacrifices. You know, like we raid twice a
- 29:52week and like, I don't know, there are things that I'd like
- 29:54to do on Tuesday, Thursday sometimes that are not Wow.
- 29:57And it's like, you got to do it. You know, that's I have to be
- 29:59there every single raid. And you have to put in the work
- 30:02outside a raid. You have to fill those vaults.
- 30:04You have to gear your character right now, like start of the
- 30:06season, especially like you have to run so much mythic plus just
- 30:09to keep up and like get your character geared.
- 30:10And we're a Tuesday, Thursday Guild, which means that on
- 30:13Tuesday we're going in and we're not geared at all.
- 30:15Like this first Tuesday was actually really rough.
- 30:18It's, it's really disheartening. You go in on Tuesday and you
- 30:21have fun on the raid. It's like we killed 2 heroic
- 30:22bosses. And you like look at like a
- 30:24Guild on Wednesday and it's like they go in five item level
- 30:27higher than you and they kill like 4 heroic bosses like
- 30:29easily. And I'm like, what?
- 30:31Like you could do that. So, you know, I, yeah, I, I
- 30:35think that like getting better isn't always fun, but also being
- 30:38bad isn't funny either. So it's like you have to, you
- 30:40have to find that balance in between.
- 30:43I like that there is a huge difference.
- 30:45I I used to be in a Tuesday raid Guild.
- 30:47I don't think I'll ever go back to rating on Tuesday.
- 30:48That's insanity. We get servers that are pushed
- 30:51to come up. It's the worst.
- 30:52Yeah, we do. We are Thursday, Sunday, right
- 30:55now. The EU Guild that I, I'm in, I
- 30:59don't raid with them, but I'm in, they raid Saturday, Sunday.
- 31:02And it's just like, I don't know, having shifting off of
- 31:05that Tuesday just feels so nice to give you that day to breathe
- 31:08and just let let Blizzard figure out whatever potential bugs or
- 31:13new features, unintended features we might get.
- 31:17No, we, we've been talking about that this year a lot because
- 31:20just like, yeah, there's so many issues with beyond the the first
- 31:23day thing where you're like lower year level.
- 31:25Now this happens every week by the way.
- 31:27You feel it the most in the first week, but every week after
- 31:30that we are always at a lower item level.
- 31:32Then I go to the rates Sunday, Monday, just like flat out, you
- 31:34know, people don't always have time to log in after work to go
- 31:38get their upgrades or whatever. They have to go upgrade their
- 31:41their things run 5 dungeons or whatever we did.
- 31:44I did like 100 ritual sites that first day and I was like trying
- 31:48to. Avoid course.
- 31:49Yeah and just to like upgrade my weapon.
- 31:51I didn't even get it I don't think.
- 31:52Maybe I got 1 before raid but it is ridiculous.
- 31:56Yeah, you. Love ritual sites, are they the
- 31:58most fun content? You've ever done the best
- 32:00content in the game, man. Yeah, the ritual sites there,
- 32:03they're OK. Like, I don't know.
- 32:05But we actually, we had a lot of fun with it actually, I'm not
- 32:08going to lie. There's fun in everything.
- 32:10By the way, if if you take one thing away from this, this talk
- 32:13there is fun in absolutely everything.
- 32:15If you find it, you have to have be with the right people.
- 32:17But we did our ritual sites and the way that we did it is we had
- 32:21we had four of us and we were speed running and we had two of
- 32:24us go to the left and we had two of us go to the right.
- 32:26And whoever killed the three guys first, we were like, we
- 32:28were kind of like amped up on. I was like, yeah, we got it.
- 32:30You know, it's we were having a really good time.
- 32:33Yeah. And like, I don't know, we, we
- 32:34killed 2 hours running ritual sites or something.
- 32:37And like, it was a really good time.
- 32:38I enjoyed it. And now if I, if I was doing
- 32:40that every single day, I don't think I would enjoy it.
- 32:42But like, you know, for like the time period, you know, you can,
- 32:44you can make things fun. We, we did endeavours during the
- 32:48pre patch. We were, we did so many
- 32:50endeavours back when like they were like really difficult to
- 32:53level up. You did not get a lot of XP for
- 32:54those things. I think that we were flying
- 32:56around like one of the Dragonflight zones.
- 32:58I, I forget like the underground area, but like we were just like
- 33:01collecting herbs and stuff to get like 10 points at a time and
- 33:04like we were having a good time doing that, you know?
- 33:06So yeah, there's fun everywhere. You just have to find it.
- 33:10But yeah, I forgot what I was talking about before that.
- 33:13But you know, I got, I got a little, little rant there.
- 33:17It's fun. You're just talking with the
- 33:18fun. It's snuck in there.
- 33:21You haven't. You haven't mentioned your
- 33:22guilds name yet. I don't know, maybe you don't
- 33:24want to, but I'd love to know the Guild name so that we can
- 33:26track your progress and cheer alongside you as it's happening.
- 33:30So the Guild is Rad R capital R capital R space capital A space
- 33:36capital D in classic, it was just rad RADI.
- 33:40Don't know why we changed it. I think it's because on area 52,
- 33:42I think rad was already taken. But yeah, no, I think I think
- 33:47it's a fitting name for us. I I, I mean, it's the best goal
- 33:51I've ever been in. So I don't really do it.
- 33:53But if you guys are looking for us, you want to follow along.
- 33:57I I do stream our Prague. I I will say that I mean like
- 34:00it's from this talk to like I'm not always in a great mood.
- 34:05I try to be in a good mood, but I was like, I don't know if I
- 34:07sound disappointed like it just does.
- 34:09This is the raid environment. I'm trying to, I'm trying to
- 34:11keep it up. I don't think I'm mean.
- 34:12But I also don't really reply to chat because I feel like, I feel
- 34:15like I'm like focused on the raid, you know, if you're raid
- 34:17leaders like talking to chat, it's like, what are we doing?
- 34:19You know? So yeah, but.
- 34:22I like that. Let's talk a little bit about
- 34:23that before we wrap up your your journey.
- 34:25So you decided to share this journey on YouTube to help.
- 34:28But you know, like you said, give us a voice that we don't
- 34:30really see a lot of. What's the end goal?
- 34:32What happens as RAD keeps climbing in ranks?
- 34:34Will we eventually be watching that?
- 34:36The big old bucket of water Hall of Fame channel.
- 34:39I think like, so we're so far away that are like talking about
- 34:42Hall of Fame sounds like kind of ridiculous.
- 34:44You know, our goal this tier was to get better.
- 34:47And I think that like, we had a lot of difficulties with goal
- 34:49alignment this last year and like figuring out what we want.
- 34:52And like, I feel like this tier has kind of opened my eyes a
- 34:54little bit more to like, oh, this year we wanted to get
- 34:56better. And then what does that mean?
- 34:58And like eventually we found out that means pushing world rank
- 35:00like a little bit. So right now what I want to do
- 35:04is I want to kill Laura hopefully in the next 3 or 4
- 35:06weeks and then like be done with that.
- 35:08I think Hall of Fame could be in the cards if we got like a
- 35:11little bit better. You know, we're pretty far away,
- 35:13but I think that would be cool. But for the most part, like with
- 35:17the channel, I'm just trying to make cool videos and like talk
- 35:19about interesting things, you know, and like if people can
- 35:22follow along and they can like you can be helpful to people.
- 35:24Part of the reason I created the channel is because like I said,
- 35:26there's not a lot of resources available.
- 35:28You have the raid leader exchange, you have some like one
- 35:30off YouTube videos you can go find, but like there's nobody
- 35:33like telling you how to do this. And that was kind of like a
- 35:35frustrating thing for me where it's like I'm experiencing this
- 35:38thing that radar IO is telling me 1000 other guilds are
- 35:41experiencing and nobody's talking about it.
- 35:44And I'm like, OK, well, maybe somebody should talk about it.
- 35:46Somebody should open that discussion.
- 35:47So I'm not the first person to talk about it on YouTube.
- 35:50Like I said, there's there's there's other channels and stuff
- 35:52that you can kind of tune into, But like for the most part, I
- 35:54think there should be more people talking about these
- 35:56things, maybe not in guide format, but like talk about what
- 35:59you're experiencing, the things that you're going through,
- 36:01because like it is relatable. A lot of people experience that.
- 36:05A lot of people are playing the game and doing raid content.
- 36:08And I think that like, yeah, I think mythic boss is the only
- 36:12thing that's highlighted. And Wow, when it's like what I
- 36:14love is reading. I, I love, I love reading.
- 36:15I love running the Guild and playing together and progressing
- 36:18these bosses. I find that the most
- 36:19interesting. So I wanted to kind of make
- 36:21more. I love that.
- 36:21It's absolutely my favorite channel for this level of play.
- 36:25Like it's 100% if you are listening to this and you're in
- 36:28the same situation or you're used to be in that situation or
- 36:30you aspire to be in that situation, I definitely
- 36:34recommend following the channel, watching it.
- 36:36We're gonna get to those plugs in a second because it is.
- 36:39It's good to know it's good also for people that are a different
- 36:43area, like having the perspective.
- 36:45How are other people experiencing the game?
- 36:47Like you said there's 1000 of the guilds experience but nobody
- 36:49talks about. It's just like the biggest
- 36:50gaslight ever. It's like you race the world
- 36:53first, or your Hall of Fame or you just don't exist.
- 36:55Yeah, well, it's crazy. Like the numbers on radar IO
- 36:59too. Then I go there and I see that
- 37:01it's like, yeah, there's 1000 guilds above me and I'm like,
- 37:03where are they? Like, like it's, it's crazy to
- 37:07think that they all exist and there's there's a thousand other
- 37:10communities just like us who probably feel the same way where
- 37:13it's like, dude, these are the this is the best like Guild I've
- 37:16ever been a part of. It is like I've I just never you
- 37:18never meet them. Like sometimes you join a pug
- 37:21and that's something that actually I, I for for what
- 37:24rating content is I really enjoyed watching like Max's like
- 37:27undercover raid leader series. Because if you ever see those,
- 37:30these videos, he hops in with these people and these other
- 37:33guilds. He he goes undercover and he'll,
- 37:34he'll just pug with like a Guild and he'll join Discord comes
- 37:37with these guys and they are always the funniest people
- 37:40you've ever seen in your life. And it's like, that's not
- 37:43unique. That is every Guild I've ever
- 37:46pugged with. You join in and they just say
- 37:47the most ridiculous things. And it is, it is like it's
- 37:50objectively hilarious. And it's like, I want more of
- 37:53that, that that's what I want to see more of that because I think
- 37:55that, yeah, you see these different communities and how
- 37:59they function. It is funny.
- 38:00It's a really good time. So I love that stuff.
- 38:03Yeah, it's absolutely. Well, I was watching.
- 38:06I don't catch a lot of his live streams.
- 38:07What I do see is YouTube stuff. There was one of his last
- 38:09YouTube videos that they do clips.
- 38:11He was watching one of your videos on stream.
- 38:14He he has reacted to it a little bit, which has been really cool
- 38:17for us. We've definitely like some of
- 38:18the members in our Guild have gotten the kick out of this.
- 38:20I did write this down to be clear.
- 38:22I think it's probably objectively a bad call for me to
- 38:25maybe making YouTube videos about our Guild.
- 38:28I I think that like I didn't start making videos like for the
- 38:31Guild. It wasn't like, oh, I'm going to
- 38:33put us on the map or anything. You know, it's, I think it adds
- 38:36like a whole new layer to the Guild that people have to
- 38:38navigate where it's like, oh, I hope I don't get like put in a
- 38:40video or something, you know, But I think that some people
- 38:44find it cool. Some people probably find it
- 38:45obnoxious. It does have it's pros and cons.
- 38:47So like, for example, a lot of people are like messaging us.
- 38:49They're like, I want to join your Guild and I'm like, you
- 38:51don't know anything about us, but like, thank you.
- 38:54But yeah, lots of people have gotten kicked out of like
- 38:57watching Max Reactor and stuff. I do think that like it has been
- 39:01an interesting way to kind of communicate like goals and stuff
- 39:03and where my head's at. So hopefully, if anything, maybe
- 39:06that's a positive where it's like, I think that like, how do
- 39:10you get somebody aligned under the same goals?
- 39:11You know, it's like, you could, you could post a big Discord
- 39:13message, you have a Guild meeting.
- 39:15There's a couple of ways that you can do it.
- 39:16Weirdly enough, me talking about my thoughts, maybe it helps
- 39:19people just be like, Oh yeah, that's how he feels.
- 39:20And maybe maybe it helps motivate some people, might help
- 39:23demotivate some people where they're like, Oh yeah, he's kind
- 39:25of disappointed right now, you know, like, but like, yeah, for
- 39:29the most part, I, I hope it's net neutral.
- 39:32You know, this guy is kind of the thing.
- 39:33But no, I, I have fun making the videos and it was a good way for
- 39:36me to kind of like express myself is kind of what was a
- 39:39nice thing. So.
- 39:40Yeah, it's, it's good transparency, right.
- 39:42So like it, I could see it being helpful in, in, in either of
- 39:45those situations, whether somebody sees it and they think,
- 39:47oh, that those are his goals. I agree with that.
- 39:50I'm going to double down and, you know, push and align myself
- 39:53with that. Or if somebody watches a video
- 39:55and thinks this is not what I want, yeah, at all, then they
- 39:59they can leave, they can move on, they can step down for the
- 40:02right team, you know what I mean?
- 40:03If they realize. Where you're headed and and the
- 40:05goals you have aligned aren't for that.
- 40:07I think that's healthy in both regards.
- 40:09I think having everybody aligned on the same target is is very
- 40:11important. Well, I I said too, like if
- 40:15people don't like, yeah, if, if people don't want what I want,
- 40:19if that's like the majority consensus and the Guild that's
- 40:21like, I am comfortable just like taking a step back because I do,
- 40:24I do way too much work right now for like to be like making
- 40:27people do things they don't want to do.
- 40:28So I'm like, OK, yeah, if we don't want to do this, like I'll
- 40:30just, I'll just rate, I'll just show up.
- 40:31And like, I, I love the community.
- 40:32Like I'll stick around. But it's like, yeah, if somebody
- 40:35else wants to do it, like they can do it, you know?
- 40:37But if we're doing what I want to do, this is what I want to
- 40:40do, you know, so that that's the sort of thing.
- 40:42But yeah. And I think I, I do think you
- 40:46provide it's because, you know, like you mentioned, you know,
- 40:50you're a little bit nervous asking questions in the radiator
- 40:52exchange. You're, you're not alone in
- 40:54that, right? That's that's the thing.
- 40:56I think a lot of people, a lot of us walk around all day
- 40:58thinking like, I'm the only person experiencing this and
- 41:01nobody else understands. But you're, you're going on
- 41:04YouTube and you're like expressing these feelings and
- 41:06expressing these thoughts and, and explaining what it's like to
- 41:08be in your situation. And I, I mean, I, you could
- 41:12probably throw a dart and a board and, and, and not miss,
- 41:15you know, every other raid lead in that thousand Guild range has
- 41:19felt that way or feels that way now.
- 41:20Yeah. And seeing somebody else say, it
- 41:22could be like, oh, I'm not, I'm not the only one who feels this.
- 41:25Way well, and that's part of what I wanted to do with the
- 41:27videos too, where it's like I, I, I want to be a little bit
- 41:30more raw with it where it's like I like I'm feeling real emotions
- 41:34and like they're not always good.
- 41:36You know, sometimes you, you have a really bad raid night and
- 41:39it gets me down and I'm like, and I gonna go on a video and
- 41:42I'm like, I'm not gonna put people on blast, but I'll be
- 41:44like, hey, like we had a rough night, you know, and like, I'm
- 41:47kind of disappointed, but I'm trying to look at the positives.
- 41:49Like, like we did this thing while I learned this thing, you
- 41:52know, and like, I don't know, I, I, there's definitely like, I
- 41:55think there's people that maybe watch the videos and they, they
- 41:57don't like them. But like, for the most part, I'm
- 41:59just trying to like, I'm trying to be a real person.
- 42:01You know, I'm a real guy who runs the Guild.
- 42:02I, I'm experiencing real things that a lot of other people are
- 42:05going through. And it's like, I just want
- 42:06people to have somebody to connect to.
- 42:08And if some people don't relate to that, that's fine.
- 42:10But for the people that do, hopefully it's, it's, it's
- 42:12beneficial for them to know that like, hey, you're not alone.
- 42:14Like there's, there's a lot of people going through this.
- 42:18I like that. I'm a real guy.
- 42:19I'm a real guy. Yeah.
- 42:23That's what isn't what Anakin says when she says you're a
- 42:26slave and he says no, I'm a person.
- 42:27That's it. I'm a person.
- 42:28No, I'm a person. Man, I'm gonna really disappoint
- 42:30you. But I I'm, I'm not a huge Star
- 42:32Wars guy. I haven't seen too much of it.
- 42:34That's OK. That's that's for me.
- 42:36That's that's for me. You're not missing anything.
- 42:40It's if you weren't born in the early 1980's, the best is behind
- 42:45you. Is the new mandalorian out?
- 42:47Is a Mandalorian something movie?
- 42:49Yeah, Mandalorian and Grogu is out.
- 42:51I haven't seen. I'm I'm not a huge fan of most
- 42:54of the the television shows. Oh, OK, it is out and it's
- 42:58currently getting dummied in the box office by Obsession and the
- 43:01backgrounds. Yeah, good.
- 43:03Obsession is if you haven't seen, this has nothing to do
- 43:05with the show. I saw your we're gonna rap in a
- 43:06second. But if you haven't seen
- 43:08Obsession, it's so good. Oh definitely gonna see it.
- 43:11Yeah, it's amazing. We're we're going to wrap down
- 43:13want to be Congress in your time.
- 43:15Casey, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to talk
- 43:17to us today. And can you tell our listeners
- 43:19where they can find you? Yeah, I'm this is going to be
- 43:22tough. I'm big old bucket of water on
- 43:25YouTube. That's I'm not going to spell it
- 43:28out, but well, maybe I should. I, I don't know.
- 43:31It's a lot. The link The link will be in the
- 43:33description. But I'm also on Twitter, Yeah,
- 43:37some of that tweet things you can you guys can find me there X
- 43:39the everything app. But yeah, that's the yeah, I
- 43:43make YouTube videos. Sometimes I stream.
- 43:44The links are all there on the YouTube though.
- 43:46If you if you go there, I think that's the best place to be.
- 43:48You stream to Twitch as well or just to YouTube?
- 43:50I stream to twitch, YouTube, I just like I don't really know if
- 43:54it affects the channel or anything so I just I just do
- 43:56twitch but I probably should stream to YouTube.
- 43:57I agree when you stream. So here's a little inside
- 44:00baseball. When you stream to YouTube, it
- 44:02shows up in your subscribers feeds as a new video.
- 44:05But anybody who subscribed to you just for your videos will
- 44:07see every time you go live and they'll go and click.
- 44:10Instead of being a a 1015 minute video, it's a four hour VOD and
- 44:14it's the most triggering thing. I have unsubscribed from
- 44:16channels because of it. I hate it.
- 44:18Yeah, I, it's funny because I I watch all of my streams on
- 44:21YouTube. I actually hate Twitch.
- 44:23It's just gotta drop that, right?
- 44:25Yeah, I hate Twitch, but like, yeah, I don't know if I, if I'm
- 44:29going to stream somewhere, I think the chat experience I
- 44:32think is better on Twitch. I don't know, It's it's kind of
- 44:34my logic, but no, yeah, catch me on YouTube.
- 44:39Definitely give Casey a follow. Go watch his videos, like,
- 44:42subscribe, comment for the algorithm and enjoy that
- 44:46content. Casey, thank you for being here
- 44:48listeners, thank you for being here and we'll see you next
- 44:50time. Until then, may all your hits be
- 44:53crits.
