- 2:58Well, ladies and gentlemen, I wanted to get into this specific
- 3:02conversation because I thought it was very well put together.
- 3:06The HBO documentary Alex Versus A Rod had three episodes
- 3:11detailing some of his highs and lows of his MLB career,
- 3:14particularly with the Yankees. Episode 1 focusing on him being
- 3:20drafted as an 18 year old in 1993 by the Seattle Mariners and
- 3:27record-breaking contract that he signed with the Texas Rangers
- 3:30after one of the hottest starts to a pro career as a baseball
- 3:35player. Episode 2 focuses on him being
- 3:38traded to the Yankees after Aaron Boone suffered a season
- 3:42ending injury playing basketball.
- 3:44As you can remember, A and the dynamic with him and Derek Jeter
- 3:51and his move to third base because that was very
- 3:54interesting. It also brought up him being
- 3:56linked to PED investigation with the investigation in 2009
- 4:01stemming from his time in the minor leagues as well as his
- 4:062009 playoff success after struggling in the playoffs with
- 4:11the Yankees his previous four times.
- 4:14Episode 3 focused on the second PD investigation he was
- 4:20connected to in 2013, leaving him suspended the entire 2014
- 4:26season. In a recent interview with The
- 4:29Athletic, A Rod says he is at peace over likely never making
- 4:34it to the Baseball Hall of Fame. A Rod finished his career with
- 4:383115 hits, 696 home runs, 2086 RB is and was a 14 time All
- 4:48Star, 10 time Silver Slugger and three time MVP.
- 4:54This was a very well put together documentary.
- 4:58Now I'm sure there were things left out, I'm sure of it.
- 5:01And I know Jabba was very close to Alex.
- 5:04He was a part of the 2009 World Series and I'm sure he has his
- 5:09own take to it and I, I can't wait to hear it.
- 5:12Alex is a very interesting person.
- 5:15I don't know him personally. I met him one time.
- 5:17I had a 15 minute conversation about football with him.
- 5:19Not even baseball. We were talking about college
- 5:22football and NFL quarterbacks. And if you don't know, Alex
- 5:27Rodriguez was a pretty good high school football player.
- 5:30He was a quarterback could have played college football for
- 5:33Miami, decided to play baseball. Now if you know about his
- 5:38father, I didn't know much about his father's story I before this
- 5:42documentary. Now I know there was a lot of
- 5:45back end situations on why his father left, but this story
- 5:51really gave you the inside scoop on the reasons why he left.
- 5:55Now do I believe, and I know a lot of people, Derek Jeter and a
- 6:01lot of different analysts that were on the show that were close
- 6:03with Alex over the years believed Michael Kay believed
- 6:07that him losing his father at a young age and, and, and him his
- 6:11wife tried to connect him and his father at one point of his
- 6:15career with his father. I think when he was playing for
- 6:18the, the, the Seattle Mariners. It's, it's interesting and I, I
- 6:22see why his wife or his ex-wife was trying to do that,
- 6:25Catherine, but I, I understand why people would bring up his
- 6:31past and try to connect his father's situation to the woes
- 6:35that he had later in his career. I don't blame that on, on his
- 6:39father's situation. I don't know him personally, but
- 6:43you cannot point your fingers at any of that.
- 6:46But his mistakes and, and what he decided to do to, to become
- 6:51the player that he became. Now, I believe Alex Rodriguez
- 6:54would have been one of the greatest players of all time
- 6:56even without steroids. I, I really do.
- 6:59I don't know when he started. He says he started in Texas.
- 7:02Who knows if he started in Seattle.
- 7:04We don't know when he actually started doing steroids.
- 7:07What I do know is Alex Rodriguez.
- 7:10His ability on the baseball field, on the diamond was
- 7:13amazing. This guy to me was better than
- 7:15Derek Jeter was as a defensive player at shortstop.
- 7:19He decided to go to the Yankees to play third base because his
- 7:23dream was to play with the New York Yankees.
- 7:25I do believe that he grew up in New York.
- 7:28His father was a Yankee fan. He was right there in the right
- 7:32by the Bronx and his dream was to play for for Pinstripe.
- 7:37So when the Red Sox in that fell apart, him going to the Yankees
- 7:41when Brian Cashman was at the award show and said, would you
- 7:45think, would you would you play third base?
- 7:47And at at that point, he was unsure of it until after the
- 7:51awards during when they were drinking, he came up and and he
- 7:55went to Brian Cashman. He says, are you serious?
- 7:57And and Brian said, yeah, maybe. So it's an interesting dynamic
- 8:02that Brian Cashman kind of, he hated on a plate and he kind of
- 8:07was drawn to it. The stories behind the stories
- 8:11and Alex talking about the doctor that helped him get
- 8:15through all these trials and tribulations.
- 8:17And I, that's great. And I, I'm not, again, I'm not
- 8:22trying to clean up what Alex did.
- 8:24And I've, I've said this, but you know, I've said this many,
- 8:27many times about steroids. Steroids are not and and we've
- 8:31seen players Cam Caminiti. He was, he did steroids and he
- 8:35went to the World Series. He had one great year and there
- 8:37are players that did steroids in the minors and never made it to
- 8:40the majors. I don't think steroids would
- 8:42have changed anything except maybe his power numbers in
- 8:45certain aspects. This guy was a sensational
- 8:48player. Lou Pinella came out during this
- 8:51whole documentary and I love Lou.
- 8:53Lou is one of my favorite the coaches, managers, the guy is
- 8:57amazing and and I thought he was the best manager in baseball
- 9:01when he was in Seattle. I really did.
- 9:04Lou said something very interesting about Alex Rodriguez
- 9:07and he said, listen, I told Alex not to say anything, not to
- 9:11really draw himself out when when the first steroid and and
- 9:16what was that the the Mitchell report.
- 9:19He told Lou told him not to go out there and open up and and do
- 9:23that, that that media conglomerate bullshit.
- 9:27And it really it was embarrassing because Alex didn't
- 9:31know what to say. He he was lost.
- 9:33He was trying to figure out how to word himself at that.
- 9:37And and honestly, you have APR guy.
- 9:39Why, if you're his PR guy, why are you letting why are you
- 9:42feeding him to the media? It was terrible.
- 9:45It was really, really bad. And even when he he thanked his
- 9:49friends and he thanked the Yankees organization, it still
- 9:52looked bad for him. And then him trying to sue the
- 9:54Yankees was bad. When he went on Michael Mike
- 9:57Francesa's show and tried to lie, that was bad.
- 10:01And he he came out. I have to give him a little bit
- 10:03of credit. He did come out.
- 10:05I don't know how honest he was with the documentary.
- 10:07Jabba knows more than I do, but there was some honesty to the,
- 10:11the conversations that he had and, and the way HBO put it, I,
- 10:15I just think there was some things that he was trying to
- 10:18hide and he wasn't coming out. How about the threats that he
- 10:21was laying on with the second steroid of the PD situation that
- 10:25he had over there in Miami. He threatened a lot of people,
- 10:28threatened to kill people. He didn't mention any of that.
- 10:31And, and there were a lot of stories that came out that were
- 10:36pretty much truth to it. And he kind of rolled around
- 10:41that whole part of that story. I, I just think that there was a
- 10:46lot of things that a rod did, but when he came back in 2014
- 10:51and he, he came back full force, I think that says a lot about
- 10:56who he is as a player. He pour his heart on his sleeve.
- 10:59You can see that in him. You could see that a lot of the
- 11:02players that play with him loved him because he was more of a
- 11:06person that I, I think would sit down and have a conversation
- 11:09with you. I think I don't know Derek
- 11:11personally except a couple of times that I met him.
- 11:14Derek, I was very surprised showed up at that documentary
- 11:18and was on that whole documentary because when we've
- 11:21heard stories about him and Derek Jeter and, and the
- 11:23backlash of what Alex did to him, you know, said about him,
- 11:27which affected their relationship.
- 11:29The fact that they, they, they fix their relationship and Derek
- 11:33decided to go on a documentary. That to me is amazing.
- 11:36Out of all the things that I saw in that documentary, because I
- 11:39never would have thought that Derek Jeter would have been on
- 11:42an Alex Rodriguez documentary, sticking up for Alex Rodriguez
- 11:47and trying to pinpoint the reasons why Alex became the
- 11:51person that he was, was because of his father.
- 11:54There is to me, Alex is a man. He makes his own decisions.
- 11:58He made the decision to do steroids and he took that and he
- 12:02ran with it and he came out and he said, listen, I made that.
- 12:05I, I made that wrong decision. And that's why I'm not in the
- 12:08Hall of Fame. And I'm not going to take away
- 12:11from my great years or even the years that people think that I
- 12:14cheated. I like that Alex was honest
- 12:17about that. But there were things that I
- 12:19didn't like about Alex Rodriguez that questions me as a person,
- 12:23as a father. I, I think that you can see that
- 12:27he regrets not really spending a lot of time with his kids and
- 12:31now he's trying to spend more time with his kids.
- 12:33I, I think there was a lot of things that we saw about him as
- 12:36a person, as a father and how he wanted to change what his father
- 12:40didn't do to him, do for him, he wants to do for his daughters
- 12:43later in their lives and be there for them.
- 12:45I, I think that was interesting. And even his ex coming out and,
- 12:51and talking about the the fact that he should have been more of
- 12:55a husband to his ex-wife and baseball was everything to him.
- 12:59It was his life. It was everything.
- 13:01I thought it was just very interesting how he brought his
- 13:06story out and aired out all that stuff that was going on inside
- 13:11and out of his career and layered it all the way through
- 13:14to his final years as a New York Yankee in a pinstripe.
- 13:17And he wanted to be a Yankee, the Yankees.
- 13:20It wasn't, it wasn't Scott. It wasn't him during the World
- 13:24Series when Colorado was playing the Red Sox where that was
- 13:27announced. It was Scott Boris that reached
- 13:29out and and pushed Alex to agree to opt out of that contract.
- 13:34It wasn't Alex. And Alex came out and said that
- 13:36I had my and that's why he fired Scott Boris after that, because
- 13:40he was so offset with why Scott wanted to do that during the
- 13:45World Series and make him the storyline while the World Series
- 13:48was going on. Very interesting stuff.
- 13:50I thought it was sensational. Really great put.
- 13:53HBO put another documentary so very well put together.
- 13:56Yeah, I again, we'll get to the jobless point on the personal
- 13:59level in a Bay obviously being a teammate of his.
- 14:00But it was interesting when I was a kid, like it was always
- 14:02one of the ones that because he was so polarizing, because he
- 14:05was so like in the limelight, it was easy to say, oh, you get to
- 14:08take shots at him And obviously all this little steroid debate.
- 14:10And again, I was as a kid, it's like, all right, is he cheating?
- 14:13Is he really not cheating? And then like later on, I was
- 14:16maybe not as extreme initially as you were with the like
- 14:18everyone should be with the steroids.
- 14:20Like I always tend to decide with them more if they were
- 14:22always a better player. I always said like, OK, the
- 14:24steroids might taint him from being considered the greatest
- 14:26baseball player of all time, but it's not going to be something
- 14:29that should tarnish his legacy because obviously he was a
- 14:32better athlete than Derek Jeter was.
- 14:33He was better defensively at shortstop than Derek Jeter was.
- 14:35And obviously besides maybe the batting average by a little bit,
- 14:38like he was a better all around hitter than Derek Jeter was.
- 14:40So it always kind of stole that limelight.
- 14:42So now the steroid stuff maybe coming out publicly with it yet
- 14:45too might have been interesting because what I was hearing when
- 14:48the A Rod scandal came out in 2013, 2014 was he was starting
- 14:51in the minor leagues. And it wasn't just even with the
- 14:53Texas Rangers. Like, you know, when he was
- 14:55playing a ball, when he was playing coming up before he came
- 14:57up with the Mariners. That's where the 2014
- 14:59investigation started. So maybe coming up public with
- 15:02that shouldn't be that. But like you said it before,
- 15:04you've said many times in the past, like the way he's like
- 15:07influenced other players in the Yankees organization, the way
- 15:09it's influenced other other people off the field too.
- 15:12Since then, I think has really changed about who he was.
- 15:14And I'm sure like these types of personal things are shown.
- 15:17And by the way, he is the best baseball analyst in my eyes on
- 15:22that panel for Fox Sports over Derek Jeter and David Ortiz, who
- 15:25you can't even understand. I think he's the best.
- 15:28I love the way he goes into depth, what's going on in the
- 15:32games, and he is such a good baseball knowledgeable person to
- 15:37have a conversation. You can tell that he just loves
- 15:40the game of baseball so very. Much when he was with Pete Rose,
- 15:43before Pete Rose. Rest in peace.
- 15:45Before he passed, when those two would start talking about
- 15:48hitting, I literally like I froze because I'm like, this is
- 15:542 of the greatest that you've seen do it.
- 15:57Steroids, no steroids, who cares?
- 15:59You still got to eye hands, hit the ball.
- 16:03That's what you got to do. And listening to like how they
- 16:07made it so simplistic when now everything is so analytical and
- 16:12like just listening to those two when they would, they would sit
- 16:15there and talk. I was mesmerized just because
- 16:19it's like as a kid that loves baseball, got the fortunate
- 16:25honor to be able to donate uniform and be able to play with
- 16:30him. To hear like how they made it
- 16:35seem so easy and simple, but how hard it is.
- 16:42It just, it boggles my mind. And for me, like somebody that
- 16:47stood 60 feet, 6 inches and those guys in the box and you
- 16:52knew, you knew that they were better than you.
- 16:56They knew exactly how you're going to attack them, what
- 17:00you're going to do, what your tendencies are, what you throw
- 17:03in this count, what you throw in this count and what a lot about
- 17:06it is. And I haven't watched the doc
- 17:08yet because it's for me. I'm going to at some point.
- 17:15But for me, I lived it for seven years and I got to see it every
- 17:20day. And what people don't know is he
- 17:27recorded the game. He would go home and watch the
- 17:31game. And what a lot of people don't
- 17:34know too, there's a time where I was struggling and they didn't
- 17:39want me to throw a curveball. And Alex is like, what the hell
- 17:42are you doing, Java? And like, why he goes, you can
- 17:45throw it for a strike. You can do this, like, get him
- 17:49off your slider. So legitimately, I would look at
- 17:53Alex. And Alex would call the game
- 17:55from third base in the way that he just understood baseball was
- 18:02beyond my imagination because, yeah, we all get there.
- 18:07And like, I was pretty good. I was OK but compared.
- 18:12To there's like different. Tiers of getting to the big
- 18:16leagues, right? And there's us that make it that
- 18:20spend, you know, a good amount of time in the big leagues.
- 18:23There's not a lot of us that have spent more than 10 years.
- 18:26I'm fortunate enough to be part of that group.
- 18:30But when you're that good and you know the game that well, it
- 18:36was, it was sometimes scary because he would just come back
- 18:42and he'd be like, hey, remember that two one pitch when you
- 18:45should have went in and you threw it away?
- 18:48And I'm like, what? He's like, yeah, this is.
- 18:52And I it just they boggled my mind.
- 18:54He he was the first person to buy me a suit ever.
- 18:58Never owned a suit and still have them to this day.
- 19:02They still fit. They're a little big now,
- 19:04actually, So that's kind of nice.
- 19:06But he just in what people perceived about him is kind of
- 19:16when we were talking about Scooby, when I asked questions
- 19:18about like asking and answering questions the fully correct way
- 19:23or like, do you want us to be authentically us?
- 19:26And I think he was such on a different level where he he
- 19:33we've never obviously had this conversation.
- 19:34We've had plenty of nights together and shared great
- 19:38conversations. He was great to my family, He's
- 19:40great to my son. And so the way people perceive
- 19:45him from the outside perspective and that's why it's a little bit
- 19:48like weird for me to like watch this when you actually, it's
- 19:54still weird for me. It's still weird for me.
- 19:56I sit here as a 40 year old man and understand what I did was
- 20:01really, really cool and I got to do something that I absolutely
- 20:05loved. I got to be a kid everyday going
- 20:08to work. I got to be a kid because we all
- 20:12dream of it and we don't ever think it's going to happen.
- 20:15And it did. But he took it to like another
- 20:18level. And he was just, he was so great
- 20:21to me and my family. But people saw like they, I
- 20:25think they gravitate more to the negative because you didn't
- 20:28really know a lot of the person that he was and like the work
- 20:33that actually went into it. And steroids are no steroids.
- 20:38You still got to throw it. You still got to hit it.
- 20:40You still got to show up every day, right?
- 20:43And he for me was just one person that I was very fortunate
- 20:49and I played with a lot of Hall of Famers.
- 20:51Alex Rodriguez, Hall of Famer to me, he's a Hall of Famer to me.
- 20:55And it doesn't matter if you have a plaque.
- 20:57I know some people live for that and that that's part of it.
- 21:02But also one thing MO told me and we had this conversation, he
- 21:06goes, why don't you get in year 1 your stats don't change.
- 21:10They stay the same. Like that's never like his stats
- 21:14will never change. Like we are going to know
- 21:18exactly. He had 3100 hits.
- 21:20He almost had 7/14 time All Star.
- 21:24We know what he was and I think people's perception and I think
- 21:30what he did a really good job because he's a very calculated
- 21:33individual in everything that he does.
- 21:37He stays relevant because he knows and he's a smart, smart
- 21:42man. And you look at all the things
- 21:45that he's done over and you look at what he did.
- 21:50And like when he was blasted on the paper and I was in Toronto
- 21:53when it happened and the picture was taken, he was staying at a
- 21:57different team hotel, whatever, blah, blah, blah.
- 22:00And everybody was like, oh, he's the most miserable person ever.
- 22:04He has done such a great job of, I guess, building trust.
- 22:11I don't know if there's a better way to say it than that because
- 22:15now like he's authentically being able to be him where
- 22:21sometimes we have to hide them. I've, I've always war Muhammad
- 22:24say through my DUI, through all the other shit, I've, I've
- 22:29messed up. I did it.
- 22:31This is what I did. I was authentically me because
- 22:33that's the way I was raised. And you, you brought up like
- 22:36things with his dad and all the other stuff and you said that
- 22:40that doesn't do anything. But those things do shape you in
- 22:43a way that you don't really truly understand until you
- 22:47sometimes get older. And I think now he's become in
- 22:51such a position where he's understanding because I missed
- 22:5611 years of my son's life. Yes.
- 22:59Did he come see me? Yes.
- 23:00Did he do those things? But, you know, we're going.
- 23:03We're pulled in so many different directions to where
- 23:06now I don't want to miss a damn thing.
- 23:08I could have continued to play, but the look on my son's face,
- 23:14I'll tell you guys all one thing and I'll get to it later in my
- 23:18segment, but you can always make more money.
- 23:22You can never make more time. And that has hit me so hard and
- 23:28losing my father, Excuse me, but first Christmas that I had my
- 23:38family and my dad wasn't here. And when you start to realize
- 23:46those things and it's better late than never, it's better
- 23:50late than never. But you authentically get to be
- 23:53yourself. And he has a platform where now
- 23:57people have thought of him in one way and call him a cheater,
- 24:02do whatever you want to call him, but you're authentically
- 24:05getting to know who he is. And I think we all as
- 24:08individuals, because you see us on a level where you get AC-9
- 24:14innings and you get to see the stories that are portrayed, but
- 24:17you authentically don't know who truly, genuinely we are.
- 24:21And I think that is such a cool thing when you're able to look
- 24:26yourself in the mirror. And we all know the famous
- 24:29picture of him looking himself in the mirror, right?
- 24:32Well, I think now he looks himself in the mirror and I
- 24:35haven't had a conversation with him about it, but he looks in
- 24:38the mirror and he sees the reason probably why it was named
- 24:43that because he's not a rod anymore.
- 24:46And I don't think he's Alex and I haven't seen the doc.
- 24:50But based upon what you said, talking about being a dad and
- 24:53doing those things, most important thing in my life is
- 24:57being Carter's father. But everybody can be a father.
- 25:01Not everybody can be a dad. And I think he's understanding
- 25:06that and he, and he's getting the whole realm and you look
- 25:11back and all the amazing things that you did and your kids got
- 25:16to be a part of it. And that's one thing that Derek
- 25:20always said, like my kids will never know how good I was.
- 25:26And he got to share that. But he, he felt like he was
- 25:28absent at times. And like I said, I need to watch
- 25:32it because it might give me a different perspective too.
- 25:34But speaking from the heart, as a dad, I know how hard it is to
- 25:38miss stuff because you're pulled in 17 different directions and
- 25:42you got to strike why the match is hot and you got to do these
- 25:46things. But I think the gist of
- 25:50everything that I'm saying is just the honesty with yourself
- 25:54sometimes is very hard to do. And I'm not just talking about
- 25:58baseball players. I'm talking about us as
- 26:02individuals, as friends, as brothers, as husbands, as
- 26:07everything. It's so hard sometimes to be
- 26:10able to do that. And when you're able just to
- 26:12like let it go and like be who you authentically are, it's such
- 26:20a great feeling. And I hope we all get to do
- 26:24that. I've, I've been able to do it.
- 26:25I've messed up, I've been great, I've been awful.
- 26:31I've been an absent father, but I've learned from it all.
- 26:36And when you authentically be able to look yourself in the
- 26:39mirror and be like, you know what, through all of that, you
- 26:43know what I'm doing, I'm standing on my own 2 feet.
- 26:47And when we all get that reflection because there's one
- 26:54thing we have to do, we we have to look ourselves in the mirror.
- 26:58And am I the person that I really am or is that the person
- 27:02people see? Then your circle gets really
- 27:06small because there's a lot of people that see you in one light
- 27:11but don't really know authentically who you are.
- 27:14And when you are that person, your circle gets really small.
- 27:19And for me, it's the understanding based upon what
- 27:26you said in in the documentary and what he's done is like, I
- 27:31hope he he's doing that and he feels that.
- 27:33And I know there was there's some things left out.
- 27:37There's one huge part of what his life involved that wasn't
- 27:41involved, but also to there are things in our life too where
- 27:46that that needs to be for us, that needs to be for us and
- 27:49that's held and and that is OK. But that's the realization of
- 27:54authentically being yourself is just being able to recognize
- 27:59that and know that there are precious things, good and bad,
- 28:06that need to stay with us. And that's that's where it
- 28:11stays. But he was great to me.
- 28:15He was great to my family. He was great to my father.
- 28:19And you know, it's, it's exciting to see when you know
- 28:25somebody and you know people's perceptions of them, because
- 28:31perception always isn't reality. It's not.
- 28:35And now you kind of get to see where we become vulnerable.
- 28:39And you say because it's not easy.
- 28:43Like, we're men, right? We're men.
- 28:47That's not easy for us to be vulnerable and admit our faults
- 28:50and admit what I was doing. And is there probably bits and
- 28:54pieces left out? Yeah.
- 28:55But you know what? That's OK.
- 28:57But people are seeing authentically who he is.
- 29:00And now they forget all the other things, like when?
- 29:04When you lie, you combat it by lying about another lie, and
- 29:09then you don't really know the truth.
- 29:12And it's awesome to see in every context of all of these things
- 29:19when we as men and women, I'm not saying it's just us, but
- 29:25when we authentically know ourselves.
- 29:27And I need to watch it. I I really do.
- 29:30I think you do, because I think you would.
- 29:32You would understand that Alex was really trying to understand
- 29:37who he was, not just as a man and not just as a father, but as
- 29:42a regular person, not just as a baseball player.
- 29:45And I think he was. I think he got lost through the
- 29:49years because he said that when I was Alex, everybody, you know,
- 29:54everybody can understand me and everybody liked me.
- 29:57And when I was a Rod, I was, I, I, I thought of myself as
- 30:03somebody bigger than everybody else in that I didn't care about
- 30:06what people were saying about me as long as I was out there doing
- 30:10my thing and showing off and, and being the, I, I guess the
- 30:14narcissist that he was. And, and he was, he admitted it.
- 30:18I was a narcissist. I, I was, I was, I loved myself
- 30:21so much. I could care less about
- 30:23everybody else around me. And you can, he admitted it.
- 30:26He admitted it. And that's why it was Alex
- 30:28versus a Rod. He says when I was Alex, I was
- 30:31easy going, fun, energetic, easy to talk to and when I was a rod
- 30:36you, I would tell you to go after yourself and you know, I
- 30:39could care less what? You and that's that was one
- 30:41thing for me because I was a fat kid from the north side of
- 30:43Lincoln. My mom, she succumbed to
- 30:47addiction and whatever and I grew up with that.
- 30:49My dad was in the prison for 30 years and I didn't grow up in
- 30:54the best part. And so I didn't care who you
- 30:57were. Like, yeah, I watched you
- 30:59growing up. But like, at the end of the day,
- 31:02I put my drawers on the same way you do.
- 31:04I wipe my ass the same way you do, like you do the same stuff.
- 31:10And so I never cared. Like I just, I didn't like it
- 31:14was harder for me going into AA and AAA because, you know,
- 31:19everybody had this. And then I got, I got to the big
- 31:22leagues and I'm like, well, Dan, I got here.
- 31:26I'm the same as y'all. Like we do the same thing.
- 31:28We shower, we do all this stuff. So it, it's just, it's really
- 31:32cool to hear from a different perspective of somebody from the
- 31:35outside looking in and hearing that's that's what you took from
- 31:40it, because everybody's going to take a little bit, you know,
- 31:43bits and pieces from it where it's like, oh, maybe he wasn't a
- 31:46Dick. Maybe he was just.
- 31:47So you know, Jabba, I, I loved Alex Rodriguez.
- 31:51I loved him. I loved him.
- 31:53I, I, everybody would pick on him and Boo him.
- 31:56I rooted for him. I loved him.
- 31:59And I wasn't a Derek Jeter fan. My friend has Derek Jeter
- 32:02pictures all over his house. And I'm like, yeah, where's Alex
- 32:06Robbery. I can't stand him.
- 32:08He's like, give me a break. And you can't stand Alex.
- 32:10Rod, I was the same way. I loved a Rod.
- 32:13I was one of his last supporters going to the stadium, you know,
- 32:16rooting for him when everyone was booing those that last year
- 32:19and a half, Java, the whole stadium booed him mercilessly it
- 32:23felt like because he was suing the team.
- 32:25By the end when he sued the team, that's when he lost me.
- 32:28I just didn't understand what the heck he was doing at that
- 32:31point. He didn't know what he was
- 32:32doing, he admitted. It yeah, I think that's the
- 32:34point, right? Like he was, he was just such a
- 32:36narcissist, like he just had to win this argument or whatever
- 32:40the heck it was however he could.
- 32:42I, I don't know, it was stupid, but he won't help the Yankees
- 32:46win. That champion played really well
- 32:48in that series. He's an MVP.
- 32:50He was a great player, man. Fantastic.
- 32:53I don't think there's anybody that can take that away from
- 32:55him. And and you want to ask me who
- 32:57honestly who the top five players of all time?
- 33:00Alex is definitely on my top five.
- 33:02I don't think anybody can argue that when you look at those
- 33:05numbers and how sensational all time you're talking all time,
- 33:09all time, all time. You look at those numbers all
- 33:13time, 100% all time. You bring up, you bring up Ty
- 33:16Cobb. Ty Cobb was one of those
- 33:18miserable human beings. On the planet, they say he was
- 33:20like, they think he murdered a couple of people.
- 33:23Like there's there's stories about Ty Cobb.
- 33:25There was a bad movie about Ty Cobb back in the day.
- 33:28I don't think they've ever done it real justice.
- 33:30How miserable of a human Ty Cobb might have been.
- 33:33Yeah, it's. Crazy, like stories that you
- 33:35hear and it's just like, what? What do we talk about too?
- 33:41Like it's numbers, right? They, they don't lie.
- 33:45Like they're legitimately like, I don't care if you're playing
- 33:49T-ball, you get 3100 hits. That's pretty damn good.
- 33:53But you know, the thing about numbers is you could spin them
- 33:56however you want to spin them. And when it gets to like these
- 33:59Hall of Fame people, you know, they're going to have the their
- 34:02narratives, as you know, and the narrative for a Rod is going to
- 34:05be he's a bad guy who disgraced the game.
- 34:08And it doesn't matter what his numbers are until the day people
- 34:12are just like, what are we doing?
- 34:14Not putting this guy in. They always should have been.
- 34:16That's what I hate. Exactly what happened to Pete
- 34:18Rose. Like similar, like he got his
- 34:21due before you could get his dude right?
- 34:24He passed and got his due. Like give it, give it where it
- 34:29needs to be when it needs to happen.
- 34:31Like I bring it, I bring it up again and I'm just like, your
- 34:36numbers don't change. You become eligible for the Hall
- 34:39of Fame, your number. It's not like they went down.
- 34:43It's not like we're seeing Phillip Rivers where his clock
- 34:45starts over again. Like these dudes.
- 34:48Numbers don't change, man. And it's like, so you're going
- 34:51to vote for me one year because then the human element comes in
- 34:56where oh, I like this guy better or he shunned me in an interview
- 35:00one time. So I'm not going to like, I
- 35:03mean, each year old. Great example, Derek, great
- 35:07example. The dude that left Derek off was
- 35:10like, I thought he was already in the Hall of Fame.
- 35:12Why would I vote for him? Yeah, I, I don't, I don't know
- 35:16about any of that. I personally just know that when
- 35:20I watched a Rod play his entire career, he was the guy that
- 35:24every team had to worry about in the lineup, no question,
- 35:27wherever he was. And he was surrounded when he
- 35:29first started by Ken Griffey, Junior.
- 35:31Then he moved around to that Stack Texas team with, I mean,
- 35:35Palmero, Juan Rodriguez. People forget about Juan
- 35:40Gonzalez. And I I want. 130 He had 130
- 35:44stakes at the break. I, I want to say, I want to say
- 35:47something also in 2009, I don't think people and, and they came
- 35:50into this documentary, Alex Rodriguez was coming off his hip
- 35:54surgery that Yankees were really, really bad.
- 35:57And the Yankees, Hal Steinbrenner rushed him back,
- 36:01rushed him back and, and the Yankees won 70% of their games
- 36:06when he came back and he wasn't even 100% healthy yet.
- 36:10And they rushed him back because the Yankees were playing so bad.
- 36:12It's, it's crazy. And the numbers he was putting
- 36:16up. I don't even know if we'll ever
- 36:19see anything like that again. So I, I just think I, I
- 36:24understand why people don't like him.
- 36:26But you can't take away greatness.
- 36:28Greatness is greatness. And Alex Rodriguez was great.
- 36:33And I don't understand why these writers don't understand why he
- 36:38did it. I understand why he did it.
- 36:40I think Alex understands why he did it.
- 36:43I don't understand why anybody would even leave this man out of
- 36:46the Hall of Fame when he has proven time and time again that
- 36:50we might never see a player of this magnitude.
- 36:52And yes, I absolutely believe Alex Rodriguez is a top five
- 36:57player of all time. You can book that when you look
- 37:00and compare his numbers. This guy was the best shortstop
- 37:03as a third baseman in all of the league.
- 37:07The best. It's not even close.
- 37:09So for him to go to third base the way he did when he was by
- 37:13far dude, he was the best infielder in baseball and he
- 37:16went to third base, never even play in the position.
- 37:19I, I, I think it's, it's incredible.
- 37:21It, it's an incredible feat when you're, you're playing 10 years
- 37:24of your career as in the hardest, one of the hardest
- 37:26positions on on a diamond, then move to third base because, oh,
- 37:29you have another Hall of Famer who, by the way, was at one
- 37:32point your best friend and you moved to third base because you
- 37:35wanted to do it for the better of the team.
- 37:37That to me says what Alex Rodriguez was.
- 37:41So that's just my opinion and we got to move on.
- 37:44But it was a great documentary and I got to give an A+ to HBOII
- 37:51thought they were sensational. It really was great and good
- 37:54good job for Alex to open up like that and not be afraid to
- 37:58be himself. And I think that's what he did.
- 38:00He he really came out and and and was himself.
- 38:04But the, the, the, the things that I, I thought he was as a
- 38:08person and the things that I now think of him as a person changes
- 38:12my mind or should change a writer's mind on why he should
- 38:16be in the Hall of Fame. That's just my opinion.
- 38:18All right, ladies and gentlemen, we have to get into our end of
- 38:23the year awards. And I, I wanted to get into this
- 38:26because the NFL is over now. I mean, we have one more week
- 38:31and I there's a lot of awards, funny awards I got to give to
- 38:36some of these players and I told the guys, come up with funny
- 38:40awards, you know, give me give me something that can make
- 38:43people laugh. So my.
- 38:45First mentioned Nippens request. Yes, go ahead.
- 38:49These are called the mouthies, right?
- 38:52As you can see, the trophy for the mouthy is a Golden Nathan.
- 38:57It is absolutely the trophy for it could only one thing could be
- 39:01the camo and blue blazer Nathan emblazoned in gold trim.
- 39:05Does it come attached with the? Championship.
- 39:08I should have put the leash in there.
- 39:09Next year we'll get like an action figure where the leash
- 39:12like is retractable for Nathan. But I mean, what a beautiful end
- 39:17of the year celebration. Errol Marks.
- 39:19We have the mouthies here. You know, everyone's got a few.
- 39:23Yes, I only have one myself. But Errol, why don't you tell us
- 39:27you know who you want to go in whatever order, and then we'll
- 39:30just lay out some of our awards. All right, so we'll go around in
- 39:34a circle. I've got a couple of them.
- 39:35So my #1 award, I'm going to recap the ugliest draft pick of
- 39:44the year, OK. And that's and that goes to no
- 39:50other than the fifth. Well was supposed to went from 5
- 39:55to #2 in a blink of an eye. And that is Travis, the gremlin
- 40:00hunter who practically played less than I think he played 10
- 40:04games this year was absolutely humiliating.
- 40:07And by the way, after he was out for the season, they started to
- 40:11win. So what I mean, seriously think
- 40:15about it. They weren't even going into
- 40:17they weren't even going to make the playoffs.
- 40:18And they went from one of the worst teams in the AFC to one of
- 40:22the best. I I honestly, I would say the
- 40:25ugliest draft pick of the year would go to.
- 40:28Travis the Gremlin hunter who had one touchdown and what I
- 40:33think he hit 200 yards. It was horrible.
- 40:36In 10, it was 10 games. It was horrible. 6 yards or
- 40:39something. So my #1 award for the year
- 40:44would go to the ugliest draft pick of the year, and that's
- 40:47Travis the Gremlin Hunter. What a great award.
- 40:51Travis is not here to accept it tonight, Errol.
- 40:54Mainly because I think he probably would hate your guts if
- 40:56you ever met him. He probably does, but I did meet
- 40:59him but. I did meet him, we will send him
- 41:01the golden Nithin in the. Mail.
- 41:03I don't think he'll throw. I think he'll throw it out.
- 41:05I don't think he wants to look at that blue blazer.
- 41:10All right, so I'll continue with a common thing that's set on
- 41:13this show, and my first award is going to be the LJ Script
- 41:16Writing Award, which one of LeBron James''s minions, as he
- 41:20likes to call him. We'll get the award this year
- 41:23and for the the winner that I'm going to give it to, it's a
- 41:26tough competition. You have Adam Silver, you have
- 41:28Brownie James. You could give it to them, but
- 41:29I'm going to give it to. David well, hold on one second.
- 41:31We're going. We're going.
- 41:32Football here, we're not going. Oh, these are all football.
- 41:34All football it. Could be any anything, anything.
- 41:37No Errol anything 2025. It's the end of the football
- 41:40seat. All right, all right, all right.
- 41:42Come on. You got to hear the LJ script,
- 41:44right? Go ahead, give it to me.
- 41:45The LJ Script Writing Award goes to Damon Jones for his
- 41:48manipulation of himself in the entire NBA betting scandal.
- 41:52Connected with everybody connected with LeBron, and
- 41:54claiming he wasn't connected with LeBron came complaining.
- 41:57Nobody else knew if LeBron was involved with it really.
- 41:59So there could have been a lot of options.
- 42:01Brownie, Adam Silver, all the manipulation with the NBA draft,
- 42:04but Nope, I'm going to give it to Damon Jones.
- 42:07Wow first blocks a punt and runs it in for He blocks a kick and
- 42:13runs it in for a touchdown. Pretty cool.
- 42:17Incredible. They're coming back, aren't
- 42:18they? That's, that's crazy.
- 42:20Dijon's having like the legendary night.
- 42:23And Speaking of that, I've got the legendary award that I'm
- 42:27going to name for the man who legendarily sat in his two
- 42:32legendary suite for five rounds in the NFL draft this year when
- 42:37he thought he was going first or second overall.
- 42:40Yes, the legendary award for 2025 can only go to Chador
- 42:47Sanders. If you remember during draft
- 42:50night, he had that done up room with his two legendary brand for
- 42:56what? I guess that's making him
- 42:57probably all of the money because he's not making a ton in
- 42:59the NFL. He's playing, I would say
- 43:03mediocre at best. Is is to be kind to how he's
- 43:07played this year. They did get a win.
- 43:10I'm kind of like he touchdown pass.
- 43:12He kind of just threw it up and the defender didn't make a
- 43:14really good play. I wouldn't really give him too
- 43:16much credit on that one either. But you know what, they got the
- 43:19win. Shidor is a legend, legendary
- 43:22award. Shidor Sanders.
- 43:25I'm going on arrows. This is the deferred award, and
- 43:33the deferred award goes to all other 29 teams other than the
- 43:39Dodgers because as our subsequent Co host and the mouth
- 43:46himself started referring to them as the DD, why didn't
- 43:53everybody else do it? So that's why they get the
- 43:56deferred mouthy award for not doing what the Dodgers doing
- 43:59because they won two years in a row.
- 44:04Interesting you have anything? Back-to-back to you.
- 44:08Oh, Tommy, you got anything? Well, I can say it's going to be
- 44:12a little more on football, but one that I actually had off the
- 44:16top of my mind was going to be drawned to the best game of the
- 44:20year. So now I'm going to have to it's
- 44:22going to be somewhat of a Co winner because I can't choose
- 44:24between these two. But I'm going to have to go with
- 44:26the first Sunday Night Football game between the Bills and
- 44:29Ravens and that absolute amazing shootout.
- 44:31And then just a week ago we could go to with the Seahawks
- 44:34and the Rams. You know, those two games,
- 44:36absolute shootouts. Like I said, we started off with
- 44:38the Ravens and Bills game. That game was absolutely
- 44:41phenomenal. Ravens, Derrick Henry
- 44:43accidentally put it on the floor, gave it up for the
- 44:45Ravens. And the Bills absolutely won
- 44:47that shootout. Absolutely.
- 44:48Climbing back in another game where they're climbing back was
- 44:51the Seattle Seahawks, just like we mentioned the last couple
- 44:53weeks, right now, looking at poised to be #1 seed right now
- 44:57in the NFC. And that really was because they
- 44:59actually had that very, very impressive when coming back the
- 45:02way they did against Sean McVeigh and those Rams with
- 45:05Matthew Stafford leading the MVP.
- 45:07Amazing game, absolutely amazing game.
- 45:09One of the best Thursday night games I've ever seen.
- 45:11So it's going to be a Co winner. It's going to be a Co winner
- 45:14between Thursday night, Seahawks and Rams and Bills and Ravens
- 45:19for best football game of the year.
- 45:23All right, my, my next award goes to my Fool's Gold Team of
- 45:29the Year and my Fool's Gold Team of the Year goes to the New
- 45:35England Patriots, who has had a sensational year 110 games in a
- 45:39row. And they're in one of the
- 45:41easiest divisions in all the football cuz you got to play you
- 45:45got to play all these garbage teams.
- 45:47And Miami actually picked up and actually played a little bit
- 45:50better at the end of the season, but they've been so bad all
- 45:53season long and the way their schedule was set up before the
- 45:58season started, they had the third easiest schedule in NFL
- 46:01history. Now you got to play what's on
- 46:03your schedule, but everybody talking about Drake May and
- 46:06Drake May my win the MVP because of this bad game by Matthew
- 46:09Stafford. Nevertheless, I, I, I think it
- 46:13was full fool's gold because this team is going to get into
- 46:16the playoffs and I wouldn't even be surprised if they get knocked
- 46:19out in the first. Well, then they they get the bye
- 46:21week if they get the number one seeds.
- 46:23So and right now the Broncos have the number one seeds.
- 46:25So all right, it it they're not going to get the bye week, but
- 46:28nevertheless, it's my fool's goal.
- 46:31My fool's goal. War goes to the New England
- 46:33Patriots cuz I I really think they're not that good so all.
- 46:38Right. So I'm going to go to the
- 46:40mouthful that didn't perform, the mouthful collapse of the New
- 46:46York Mets winning the worst choke job of the year with all
- 46:49the talking, the all the mouths that were hyping up this New
- 46:53Yorker Mets team at the beginning of the year.
- 46:55All the Mets. Yeah, and obviously the big
- 46:57prize in Wan Soda there was a carry over from the the miracle
- 47:01comeback. They had to make the playoffs
- 47:03the year before they beat the Phillies, which I guess and we
- 47:05we took the all Mets fans are going to take to do that.
- 47:08But then they do the exact opposite in 2025 with higher
- 47:11expectations. They probably the worst single
- 47:13trade deadline you could imagine with getting all those relievers
- 47:16and Cedric Mullins that didn't pan out.
- 47:18And what do they do? They fall apart in historic
- 47:21fashion, All mouth, no performance.
- 47:23Interesting. That's our, well, my dates in
- 47:29college all mouth. I don't even want to know why
- 47:33you gave her that. I don't know if you can call
- 47:37those dates, but I I got, I mean, as soon as I tell you the
- 47:42name of the award, Errol is going to know exactly who this
- 47:45is for. This is the bag of doughnuts
- 47:47award for 2025's Worst Football Executive of the year, and it
- 47:53can only go to one man Yes, Joey, bag of Donuts himself.
- 47:58Joe Shane. What a what a remarkable
- 48:01offseason. Once again, if you remember
- 48:04correctly, it was still in the year 2025 where Saquon Barkley,
- 48:09who Joe Shane thought that, you know, we could replace him with
- 48:12Devin Singletary and John Runyon a block better.
- 48:16So we'll just get those two guys for the price of Saquon Barkley.
- 48:20Let him go to the Eagles. Sure enough, 2024 he puts up
- 48:242000 yards rushing. 20, 2025 he becomes Super Bowl champion.
- 48:28And what do we follow up that disaster with in the offseason?
- 48:32A bunch of garbage. Best retained free agent in this
- 48:37past season, Joe Shane? Looks like you got Paulson
- 48:40Adibo, who has been below average at corner and hurt as he
- 48:45was previously where they had him in New Orleans.
- 48:50The other guys that they retained, Greg Van Roden, what a
- 48:53great guard to spend your money on.
- 48:56Jets legend. They played him all year because
- 48:58literally Evan Neal was worse, which is hard to believe, but I
- 49:03guess he was worse. Javon Holland spent a lot of
- 49:06money on Javon Holland. He isn't good at football.
- 49:11We have Roy Robertson Harris, that actually was a pretty good
- 49:14move. He's been pretty good at
- 49:15defensive tackle. Obviously the draft pick of Dart
- 49:20kind of get lucked into that. Say that he did a good job with
- 49:22Dart. I'll give him the one thing and
- 49:25one thing is all you need to get the bag of doughnuts award.
- 49:30Joey. You get to keep your job for
- 49:31some reason until further notice because you made one good choice
- 49:37of getting Jackson Dart, although we all know that was
- 49:39Dabel's pick. Joey, bag of doughnuts.
- 49:43Interesting. Mine's.
- 49:45Mine's more of a when I was going through this and I knew it
- 49:50was kind of NFL focus, but I was like, if we're going to go off
- 49:54the rails a little bit and I wrote down a bunch of ideas and
- 49:58I was like, you know what 1 mine is, is first of all, being so
- 50:02grateful and and honored to to be with you guys every week.
- 50:07But mine's going to be the the popcorn award.
- 50:10Nice. Mine is going to be the popcorn
- 50:14award for two of our very, very important people that make me so
- 50:21happy when they start going back and forth.
- 50:25I don't care if it's fantasy football.
- 50:27If it's Giants and Jets, I don't care.
- 50:31I get so excited to wait for Speedy to send me a message.
- 50:35Where's your popcorn? The popcorn doesn't leave.
- 50:38Put a new shipment in that. I'm going to ship to all you
- 50:40guys and I'm going to need all your addresses, but the popcorn
- 50:45award goes to none other than our executive doser Aaron
- 50:50Fishman and Mr. Errol Marx. I appreciate it.
- 50:57I appreciate. It I was going to have some new
- 51:00popcorn intros coming in for 2026.
- 51:03Better believe it. Hey I'm I'm I'm working right
- 51:05now. All right.
- 51:06So we gotta move the segment along quicker.
- 51:09Error one more. I'm only gonna do one more if
- 51:11you have a few more. I've got two more, but I'll let
- 51:15you go and then I'll give you my 2.
- 51:17I'm done, you guys. Have one more too.
- 51:19I want to. Share Other one more Other one
- 51:20more so. All right, go ahead, Tommy.
- 51:23Yeah, mine is kind of quick, but I'm gonna go with the best
- 51:26touchdown celebration. Not if you guys saw this the
- 51:28other day, but Jedi Walker from the Bears the other day caught a
- 51:32touchdown, and I thought this was kind of neat.
- 51:34He did this. Little Nitin has one too, by the
- 51:36way. Oh, does he?
- 51:37OK, cool. So we'll go with Nitin
- 51:38afterwards. But he did this kind of Juby
- 51:39slide after scoring A touchdown. I don't even know how he did it.
- 51:44It looks like he's actually gliding.
- 51:46So I thought that was kind of neat.
- 51:48You know the Bears are going to be moving on into the
- 51:50postseason. Let's look at that one more
- 51:52time. But yeah, the Bears going to
- 51:53move on to the postseason playing absolutely amazing
- 51:56football, amazingly coached, amazingly quarterback team and
- 52:00amazingly stylish with the touchdown celebration.
- 52:03So yeah, best touchdown celebration got to go to Jade
- 52:06Walker on the Bears. All right, yeah, I'll finish.
- 52:09I'll finish it off. You mentioned worst executive in
- 52:12the NFL, but I don't think anyone had a worst year.
- 52:16So this goes to the why did he ever have a job award?
- 52:18And that would go to Nico Harrison.
- 52:20I mean, he started off the year badly.
- 52:22He finished off the year badly. Tried to justify his plan that
- 52:26he claimed he had after a pretty good 2024, getting the trade,
- 52:30those trade deadline move to help The Mavericks get into the
- 52:32NBA Finals. His 2025 couldn't have gone
- 52:35further worse. He just said, all right, I'm
- 52:37going to throw out there a trade.
- 52:38They get trade the second best player or the best player in the
- 52:41NBA for Anthony Davis and he gets hurt the first week and
- 52:45then he tries to justify it and then he gets a gifted Cooper
- 52:48flag. Yay, that one.
- 52:50You could probably follow up as another one that we could have
- 52:52done with the the great Chuck Klosterman that had that take.
- 52:55But nevertheless, they got gifted Cooper flag and then all
- 52:58of a sudden he's trying to say, oh, I'm going to justify right.
- 53:00Then he gets fired. Yeah, maybe probably 6 months
- 53:03too late. So, executive of the year, why
- 53:05did he ever job Nico Harrison and he gets my last award?
- 53:09How's it going? Why do you have a job?
- 53:10I guess that Cooper flag pick was so easy, even Nico Harrison
- 53:14couldn't screw that one up. Apparently now if he stayed
- 53:17there, he could have traded him after two years out of nowhere.
- 53:20That's true because he likes to drink light beer after games.
- 53:24I'm not going to give the Thumbelina Award out to Josh
- 53:27Hart right now, but I do have the Mizuhara's Revenge award
- 53:34that has to be given out. You already mentioned one of the
- 53:36gamblers, Speedy. I'm going to go to the other
- 53:39guy, the guy who took six baseballs and dirtied them six
- 53:44times in a row when he is notoriously one of the best
- 53:48control relief pitchers in the game.
- 53:51One of the best pitchers in the game.
- 53:53Emmanuel Class A, the former Cleveland Guardians pitcher who
- 53:58is probably never going to be allowed to pitch ever again.
- 54:02You get this award, Sir, because you ain't getting anything else
- 54:05other than jail time after what you've done in this situation.
- 54:09Unbelievable. Apparently only did it as Jabba
- 54:12put in our chat for $15,000. I really hope there's more to
- 54:17the story than that because that's out of control, stupid,
- 54:21and there has to be more. But because of the story as we
- 54:25know it, Mizuhar is revenge. The award goes to Emmanuel Class
- 54:31A, and just like school on Sunday, the Class A has no
- 54:36class. All right, I got 2 awards,
- 54:39ladies and gentlemen. I've got the Willy Whoppers,
- 54:42Speedy Willy Whoppers. Of course.
- 54:44The Willy Whoppers award, I'm going to do a whopping on this
- 54:50guy. It goes to executive of the
- 54:54Cincinnati Bengals, Duke Tobin, however way you want to
- 54:59pronounce his name and the just a mockery of this organization
- 55:03in the offseason. Not really leaving Trey
- 55:06Hendrickson to hang until the end of the end of the offseason,
- 55:10not giving him a chance to really work out and train with
- 55:12the team. And then you go into a season
- 55:14where you've had you drafted, you drafted A defensive lineman
- 55:18that barely even played some people even says shouldn't have
- 55:22been a first round draft pick. And now you're wondering what's
- 55:25going on with Joe Burrow. Does Joe Burrow don't even want
- 55:28to be there anymore? I I mean, everything in
- 55:31Cincinnati is falling apart and who we going to blame?
- 55:34We going to blame the coach or the guy running the show?
- 55:37My Willy Whopper of the year, and I'm doing a whopping on him,
- 55:42is for Duke Tobin, who is an absolute joke.
- 55:46Stupid, dumb, ridiculous. That's perfect.
- 55:50And my final award goes to and I'm going to find this over here
- 55:53because I'm going to give it to it.
- 55:55Do you want to jerk me off? Well, the Jerk Me Off award and
- 55:59I, I will say this, I'm not jerking this guy off, but
- 56:04somebody's going to be jerking him off one way or another.
- 56:08And that goes to Victor webbing Yama, who has just bursted off
- 56:14the scene. I'm not a big webbing Yama fan,
- 56:16but I I got to give him a little bit of credit.
- 56:18The guy plays 25 minutes a night and he's putting up the numbers
- 56:21that he's putting up. It's pretty damn amazing.
- 56:24And somebody might be jerking him off.
- 56:27You're going to have to probably got to climb the ladder or bring
- 56:30a ladder out to get, you know, get a hold of that thing or if
- 56:32it hangs to the ground. But what he has done so far
- 56:36early in the season, early in the season has been pretty
- 56:39amazing. 25 minutes. He's putting up ridiculous
- 56:42numbers. I, I mean, Michael Jordan asked.
- 56:45No, but this guy is showing, showing me off on some of the
- 56:51takes that I've had against him over the last couple of years.
- 56:55So I will give him the Jerk Me Off award.
- 56:58So there you go, Victor Webinyama.
- 57:03Hey, great way to finish us off. That's, it's been a great year.
- 57:12It's been a full year with Jabba Chamberlain.
- 57:13It's been a full year with Fish. It's been a full year with all
- 57:17of you guys. It's been a great one.
- 57:20The factor where we are and where we're going to be next
- 57:23year could be special. I, I couldn't have done it
- 57:27without any of you guys. I again, specifically the work
- 57:32that gets put on on put in on the back end is, is amazing and
- 57:38I appreciate everybody's hard work and dedication.
- 57:40I, I have a lot of love for everybody, all the fans out
- 57:43there listening to us and TuneIn and download and look out for
- 57:47the craziness that could come about this show.
- 57:51We appreciate you guys and I, I guess I'm going to speak for, I
- 57:54guess unless Jabba wants to speak to for, for the fans.
- 57:58I, I appreciate everybody that puts the work into this show.
- 58:03So. Yeah, I mean, I don't, I don't
- 58:05know if words can express you guys have literally, I thought I
- 58:11was a sports fan. I wasn't.
- 58:13And you guys have opened my eyes to so many things and where I
- 58:17pay attention to so many things different because I don't want
- 58:20to sound like a Jackass. And you guys have just like
- 58:24opened me up where I look at sports so differently and it's
- 58:29made me look at life differently.
- 58:31And, you know, just embodying what sports can do for all of us
- 58:37and not only opening us up to to different perspectives and
- 58:43different thoughts and views, but opening us up as people.
- 58:47And you think that's the greatest thing about sports.
- 58:49And I think that's the greatest thing about this show because
- 58:51you don't ever know what you're going to get.
- 58:53And it's been awesome. It's been frustrating at times.
- 58:57It definitely has. I love you guys, but it has been
- 59:01and you know, we crawl before we walk and it's just been it.
- 59:06It's going to be a fun journey. And I know it's frustrating
- 59:09sometimes for for all of us in in different ways, but I'm so
- 59:15grateful to have these moments and, and where I can, I can
- 59:21share my thoughts and I can be me.
- 59:23And then, and you guys don't judge me and our fans don't
- 59:27because I love them because they're the reason why we do
- 59:31this. We love sports, but we love
- 59:34giving a different perspective and maybe a different thought or
- 59:37a different view. So man, I hope it's been a fun
- 59:41year. I think we've learned a lot from
- 59:44each other and I, I truly, genuinely appreciate that.
- 59:48And it's been a tough year for everybody.
- 59:50Like, I mean, that's, that's life though.
- 59:52But what we look forward to is, is the things that lie ahead and
- 59:57just very fortunate to be in this opportunity and and do
- 1:00:01these things with you guys. So I appreciate first and
- 1:00:04foremost, because I know time is precious and I appreciate your
- 1:00:08guys's time. And more importantly, I
- 1:00:11appreciate you use the effort and the fact that you care about
- 1:00:15what we're doing and just thank you guys so much.
- 1:00:18I mean, there's, there's not much more I can say.
- 1:00:20I want to before I let everybody go and I want to thank everybody
- 1:00:25on Apple and Spotify that TuneIn and download and write all these
- 1:00:31crazy things on all the Reddit fans that say the the most
- 1:00:37derogatory funny things I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 1:00:41And on Instagram and TikTok and Facebook and all the fans, Jabba
- 1:00:47the mouth fans in worldwide sports radio network fans out
- 1:00:50there and all the guys that do their shows, you know, from, you
- 1:00:54know, Josh Silverberg and his father and Eric and and then
- 1:00:58snowman. Thank you to them for really
- 1:01:01putting out a good product. And and like I said, next year
- 1:01:06is a week away or less than a week away, actually a couple
- 1:01:09days away. And I'm going to say one thing
- 1:01:12to all the fans and all the people out there and all the
- 1:01:15podcasts out there, watch out. So all I'm going to say, you can
- 1:01:20take it whatever way you want. Watch the F out.
- 1:01:25That's it. Anyway, I'm.
- 1:01:27Just going to give you 2 lines, Errol, that no one has got a
- 1:01:29more original show than what we do here.
- 1:01:32Everyone's got sports takes, but no one has the creativity.
- 1:01:36People are stealing segments from us that we see on the big
- 1:01:39shows. 100% that I know that I came up with with you on the
- 1:01:43phone, Errol. You know, so I'm real proud of
- 1:01:47kind of being a trendsetter as well in an industry that seems
- 1:01:51to be a lot of the same. Lost.
- 1:01:53All absolutely lost. You're absolutely right.
- 1:01:56Fish lost. And that's what you're seeing
- 1:01:58right now with WFAN and they're firing people and letting people
- 1:02:03go and Trinity Sports is gone and everything is flopping
- 1:02:07around and they're trying to figure out what to do next.
- 1:02:09Here's what you do. Watch out and look at the the
- 1:02:13talent that's out there and realize that there is talent
- 1:02:16right in front of your faces. Open up your checkbooks and get
- 1:02:20ready because you're going to be paying.
- 1:02:22That's all I'm going to say. You're going to be paying
- 1:02:24because you had, you had this sitting for such a long time and
- 1:02:29you're going to be paying. That's all I'm going to say.
- 1:02:31That's it. I, I had to add that because I'm
- 1:02:34just disgusted with the garbage that I've seen on television and
- 1:02:38radio over the last couple of years and it makes me sick to my
- 1:02:40stomach. Anyways, I'm going to let you
- 1:02:43guys say your final goodbyes for the new year.
- 1:02:47Tommy, you first. Yeah, you guys pretty much said
- 1:02:50a lot of it. You know, we've been putting a
- 1:02:52lot of work and especially thanks to you guys, you know, I
- 1:02:54don't think any of us can do ones job without the other.
- 1:02:57So I really do appreciate, you know, all the hard work that you
- 1:02:59guys put into the show. You know, I really appreciate
- 1:03:01you guys, you know, being welcomed in every to every.
- 1:03:04Week. It's fish and speedy, just so
- 1:03:06you know. Of course, yeah, Fish and
- 1:03:07speedy, you know you guys are awesome.
- 1:03:09Jabba and Arrow, you know you guys being the on air talents.
- 1:03:11Of course, you know you guys doing what you guys do.
- 1:03:14You know it's all appreciative. Of course, even Nathan.
- 1:03:16Shout out to the man. Nathan is in here, the PR
- 1:03:19manager, the man himself. But you, it's been a whole hell
- 1:03:24of a 365 days and looking forward to another 365 with
- 1:03:28y'all. Yeah, it's I've definitely been
- 1:03:31appreciative of all you guys are bringing me in eight years ago
- 1:03:34and seeing all different people come and go with this network
- 1:03:37too, but always supporting me and always helping me out with
- 1:03:40everything on the on the show and throughout the network as
- 1:03:43well. And all the guys that have been
- 1:03:45coming and going on this show as well.
- 1:03:46Fish, you brought a new, new vibe since you joined the show
- 1:03:49back in January of 2024 and you've done a lot of great
- 1:03:53things. Tommy, you've been always a
- 1:03:55social media guy, fungi to talk with off set a lot of the time,
- 1:03:58even before Jabba you came along and Jabba reaching out to you
- 1:04:01for the first time as a guest. I reached out to a lot of
- 1:04:03different Yankees and first time you ever had you in the show,
- 1:04:05you were a tremendous storyteller and and reached out
- 1:04:09at the time with the Yankees playoffs and obviously we built
- 1:04:11something very nice and Nathan as well and Nick Goody Nathan.
- 1:04:14With Goody. Shout out to Goody.
- 1:04:17Yeah, Goody, Goody. The first time we had him on the
- 1:04:19show, it was funny. It was actually the first week
- 1:04:22we had Sylvester Williams on the show last year too.
- 1:04:24It was also the same week we had Goody on the same day and, and
- 1:04:26Goody Goody. I remember Goody because he came
- 1:04:28in 10 minutes early. I never saw a guest come in that
- 1:04:30early ever. And he was so fired up.
- 1:04:33He was so funny and always brought that good vibes.
- 1:04:35And of course, Nathan is our PR guy doing some great things.
- 1:04:38All this event planning, all that stuff.
- 1:04:39Fantastic. And shout out to all the fans,
- 1:04:41all the ones I've met in person, all the ones I have it in
- 1:04:42person, for supporting what we do here.
- 1:04:44I don't want to say something else before I go to Jabba
- 1:04:47Chamberlain. I didn't think this was going to
- 1:04:49work. I didn't all right, I did.
- 1:04:51I'm going to be honest with you, I didn't think it was going to
- 1:04:54work, but it's been a fun ride and it's going to be a fun ride
- 1:04:58in 2026 because I I feel like we've built a good, good vibe
- 1:05:04and a good relationship. We have our differences at
- 1:05:07everything that we do, but that's what partners usually do.

- 1:05:19watch you throw a ball. I, I, I like throwing pitches at
- 1:05:22you and I'm sure you like to throw jabs at me, but I, I feel
- 1:05:26like we've built something and we're, we're building something

- 1:05:38if if it wasn't for the people that understand what we're
- 1:05:41trying to do here, we wouldn't be here.
