Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: and here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on faithful and is absolutely incredible to be with you guys today?
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pumped because today, we're going over dark horse impact players, which the 49ers have quite a few of them.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: the roster construction that kind of has to take place.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: You have two options.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you have this many kind of stalwarts, pro-longed careers, top of the paid position players with, you know, Trent Williams, Christian McAfrey, George Kittle, Fred Warner, Nick Bosa, like you've got a lot of
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: in those just pretty operable all-pro players rightfully so that's a blessing to be able to have them place along.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: But then you saw last year where it was like, okay, well, we're going to kind of take our medicine, we're going to pair that up with a whole bunch of rookies and cheat that minimum guys and we're just going to try to make you work.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you went on to run despite almost all those pillars getting injured and want to play off game on the road,
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: what happens the other way.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: So you either super top heavy, not a lot of depth, that's 2025.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're backing up those pillars that you have on the roster with quality veteran depth and now second year players.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: that got it opportunity to see some time and get a lot of reps and practice and camp, preseason and games.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: And now it's like, all right, you kind of seasoned some of these players to be like, all right, what are we doing here?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got to, you got to show up?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: or you got to get left behind because the competition of this 20, 26, 40 hours roster, it's a tense man and there's just not enough room to keep all the players of potential.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's just haven't done it yet.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: You got to do it.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so we've got some rookies.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about today.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some second-year players we're going to talk about today.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: And we even
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: kind of wild card players we're going to talk about today as we continue our roster countdown.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're at number 43 to number 39 and this is episode 1,660 at a four hours rush podcast.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: I have to say thank you to Josh Ben and Zach.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: They help write this entire episode and shout out to the countdown crew coming up with the hashtag cc's.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: Howdy was first.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Today appreciate you guys monkey.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's in there.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: What's up cubs?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Josh there he is right there for us.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Faithful forever 90.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he's a legend.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's been.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: We got two legends.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: Zack to watch live, but I know he is with us.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: Man, appreciate you, buddy.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: What's up Thomas?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it is a wonderful, wonderful day.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: And man, I got to be honest.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: I had to get on this show early on.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they kiddo has moved out.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: woke up early, packed up the car, him in the wife took off.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: down to Texas as he starts the new chapter of his life.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so freaking proud of him.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's how he just freaking chilling at home, writing 49ers episodes and doing his thing.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it's like a weird new moment in life.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: The wife and I, we foster adopted our boys.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, goodness.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Fourteen years ago.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so we got them, we got them young, but now they're graduated and on their own and I hopefully, you know, everything goes well and other gonna have a lot of hiccups but man, I'm just, I'm fool, it's, it's, I'm excited.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really get sad about a lot of things.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of conditioned to, all right, what's next though, all right, what's next, all right, like that's just kind of where I am, but I'm proud of the kiddo.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's excited so for anybody out there,
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: with well wishes, man, a little Chapman is spread his wings, baby.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's out there ready to take on some new chapters and so I'm excited for him and man And hopefully that excitement comes across today.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: I love it I love it nowhere else.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'd rather be right now.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: This is awesome.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Maria ready to talk Ross again Love these streams.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you man.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: Cubs It's always a fun game until the top 20 guests and who is next on the countdown man We've got some fun ones and
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: I hate the worst part about this roster countdown.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, do that players really that low?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, no, that's not right.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's all like, I could throw out a name.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: It could be anybody, you know what I mean?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ricky Pierce saw or whatever.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, and I tell you the number that they're at.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, no, no, no, that's way too low.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: He has to be higher on the list.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: But then you start going through the list.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, okay, well, who do you want to put it in the head of?
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: And again, the way we do this, me, Josh, Zach, it been.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: We rank one through 91.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: We compile those averages, and that's how we come up with this.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a flawless process for sure, but we do have a little bit of a consensus and it's a fun process.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so whenever we do have a player ranked way too low to your liking,
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: keep that player in mind and you form your own list and just be like, well, I would put him above here, but maybe not that guy, so maybe you can have that kind of conversation.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun to create that dialogue.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, Texas is ready to welcome him.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love what's up, Steven.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get to it.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Number 43 on the 40 hours roster countdown.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: Big plays, return her upside, but an uphill climb on that depth chart, Jordan walkins.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Second year, wide receiver from Ole Miss.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: He was at Louisville, the transfer to Ole Miss.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: Weird player.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: As completely out on them, pre-drift, I watch some of his tape, I was like, no, I don't see it.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's funny thing is, now the 49ers have gone back to back drafts, drafting and X wide receiver from Ole Miss.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: You guys know how much I hate that wide receiver offensive scheme, that's stupid art trials, whatever the hell you want to call it, POS system, where they take plays off.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it's just gross, don't run even a quarter of the route tree.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: But Jordan Walkins has a lot of upside last year was 57 on the roster count on this year is 43.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so he's jumped up considerable 14 spots despite the 40 hours adding five wide receivers.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of that has to do with his Jordan Walkins and Jacob Cowling like those are probably the two prominent
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: Returner starting returner candidates for a point return and kick off return.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: So there is a place for Jordan walkins.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he just has this upside dominated camp last year was awesome.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Goes into the first.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Preseason gaming gets hurt gets a high ankle sprain never recovered the the year.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, you know, got back to Clear and whatever else and then he couldn't pass anybody in the depth chart.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was a struggle.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I say this all the time, talk about Mike Evans, like how do wide receivers win?
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you win with speed, which Jordan Walken's does, Mike Evans does not, and then you lose the speed high ankle sprain.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Man, that's your trick.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: That is your, what makes you separate literally and figuratively from the competition, you lose that speed.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: You are now,
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: devoid of what makes you special.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that is what makes Jordan walking special.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like the one thing that he does arguably bledder than almost anybody on the roster, stat corners vertically.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: And what that means is on those go routes, fade routes, nine routes, whatever you want to call them post routes.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Excel pass the corner and then stack them vertically where the corner is now directly behind you, not in your hip pocket to the side because that gives the quarterback a better window to throw the deep ball.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walken's does that in space.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is his ace in the hole.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: stacking corners vertically, what you have to have a lead acceleration and a lead speed to do, he has that ran a 437.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's got speed.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: You could be like, well, done to Sean Strivley run a 437.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: He does does not stack corners vertically anything like Jordan Walken does.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: And then you look at Ricky Pierce saw, he's not a blazer, but still a 440 guy.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I've never seen
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: his entire career.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: He wins horizontally, right?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, just Sean Striblin is a little bit more of a king of all traits.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's huge.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's fast, you know, the in-out breaks probably not going to fit into that, but possession wide receiver tough, great hands, meant like, to Sean Striblin is just so damn good at everything.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkets is a vertical threat with returner upside that that's the difference in this wide receiver core with these first second year players and kind of how it all goes about.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkets wears jersey number 17, 511196 not a big wide receiver by any stretch, but not small either 24 years old.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: So younger than some of the rookies this year was that Louisville for
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Raised a Kentucky where he went to Butler High School, excellent football player track and field guy.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Three star recruit goes to Louisville before transferring to Ole Miss.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, not big, but not small.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's on the smaller side for sure.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: But just speed.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers when they drafted and they talked about just speed, big plays.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: That is what he brings.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: What's it really even, he was kind of a rotational piece that will meet old miss for three seasons.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't, he wasn't like one of their number one or two starting wide receivers until somebody got hurt.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: Trey Harris gets hurt.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: He steps in, dominates, does very, very well in a short window.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Had this incredible game against Arkansas, where Jordan Walkins had eight catches, 250 yards and three touchdowns.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shanahan loves offense of players.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna see this later in this breakdown as well
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: He loves players that could take over a game.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: You can go back and you look at Dante Pettis, Jalen Hurd, Debo Samuel, Brandon, I you, Danny Gray, Tite Davis, Price, Trace Sermon, one of the things all of those players have in common.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: They all have this one staple game in their resume where Kyle Sheddy could look at it and go, look at that.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: If he gets on, he won't take over that game.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle loves that.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like that I don't I don't know why, but you know, we do and whenever we're writing all these draft profiles every year, which we did 200 plus of them this year whenever there is an offense to playmaker that has one of those, you know, on fire NBA GM type games then you kind of put a star by his name and you're like, all right, this is a guy.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is a guy right Chris Collins worth.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: He fits that mold, but again, get you talk about what even a starter at Ole Miss, was not one of the top two starters at the wide receiver position gets strapped in the fourth round, number 138 overall.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at the wide receivers, take it right after Georgia Walk, it's Kiontrey Lambert Smith, who is a stud, and Tori Horton, who is a stud in our division.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think there's always gonna be this kind of,
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: You know, competition between those three players because they all kind of went back to back to back.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: They all play, you know, kind of the ex outside wide receiver role, no doubt.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkets is far behind them, even though he was selected head of them after one season.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just one season.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the results are not concluded.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: You're hoping to he could start to contribute a little bit more.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: You only played four games last year, zero starts, 25 snaps, no special team snaps, which is kind of weird.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, three targets had two catches on three targets, 26 yards, 13 yards per reception, that's solid.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: Made one and a half million dollars last year.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's rookie contracts, they're pretty, you know, heavy
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you look at the depth chart position and you know, your order might be a little bit different than mine.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: Usually the four areas keep five, this year they're going to be keeping six.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they keep six.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans one, Pierce all two, Christian Kirk to Sean Stribling three, four, however you want to do that.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then it turns into a little bit of a mix Jordan Walkins to Marcus Robinson, Jacob Cowen, those three.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: might be fighting for one or two spots.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got the long shots, delete turner, tune your bird game, Wesley Grimes will Pauline, Colton Dowell.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of guys, it's 12 wide receivers.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Fighting for six, maybe five spots.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's gonna be upset.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's gonna get left out.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's just not enough seats.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's musical chairs out there.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: kind of crazy the way this is going to go down.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Cubs, what's up, man?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm saying.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: I thought we did walk it's already.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: I realized I'm wrong, but he wasn't on my guess list for the show.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's just so many wide receivers.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: Share the hand carries so many wide receivers because one, it's very, very difficult to play wide receiver in this scheme.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: Two, if you don't have the wide receiver bodies, it's tough to run a training camp.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Think about all the hamstrings, think about all the castreings, think about all the needs stuff, think about all that stuff, you've got to have the bodies to be able to rotate at least nine wide receivers through a practice because you're doing three separate teams.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the way the 49ers function there, training camp practices, wider severs are on their rotation play by play by play.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right, three wide receivers, you're up.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: We run our play.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, line stays, quarterback stays, running back stays, tied in, stay, sometimes.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: Wide receivers, you're off three new ones.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: Run a play, wide receivers off three new ones.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, the old line and quarterback and run it, they haven't changed at all.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's just the way they platoon their practices.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: you've got to have those wide receiver bodies through camping preseason.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: You just have to, especially whenever you got somebody that you got bubble wrap, like Ricky Pearsaw, you got Mike Evans who, let's be honest, is he gonna get the Trent William CMC treatment?
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: He damn sure should, Christian Kirk, well established vet.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's had some injuries throughout his career as well.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: So you're already talking like, man, we've got three guys.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not going to get the elite amount of reps.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: So that leaves nine.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: How many wide receivers do you have to have to run?
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Can't nine.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you're kind of at that threshold.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And some of the other positions suffer, safety, tight end, running back, where you need depth, can't have it because we got to have all these wide receivers.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of frustrating there.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: Josh, if counting could stay healthy, you could be something in my opinion.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: We just did him last episode, right?
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I had counting 48, we had counting 48.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: The Marcus Robertson 47, and then we're sitting right here with, you know, Jordan Walk is 43.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're stacked right there.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like who wants it?
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now, walk it's cowing.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: They provide returner upside.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: They provide use moving into the future.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: DeMarcus Robinson is a better wide receiver than them.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: Hands down, bar none, reliable.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't got to worry about anything.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: You play all three positions.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you can't return, he's not a returner at all.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: But you start looking at it and it's like, all right, how do you want to differentiate and break up
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: this group, because I cannot see a world where Jordan walkins Jacob County and to Marcus Robinson all make this roster.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: The only way I can
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Even feasibly see that happening is if Jordan walk in Jacob Coward make the 53 you do a hand shake agreement with the Marcus Robinson say we're going to cut you bring you back on the practice squad or you some extra guaranteed money for your troubles because he doesn't go through waivers just promise us you're coming back will elevate you weeks one week two and then we'll see what happens
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only way, even if there is an injury ahead of them on the depth chart, Evans Pierce, I'll Kirk, Strybling, still don't see how you keep all three of these guys.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's got a win.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, yeah, why'd receiver rooms crowded?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: Tie for some of these guys to stand out.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkins has the Trump card.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: because he does what none of those Coween, Coween can stack some guys vertically, but that's not really what he's known for, but that deep vertical threat, that is the rarest thing, that is the most valuable thing, and I give Watkins a little bit of a hat tip over Coween because he's younger, he has more time left on his Rickey deal,
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen it more from him, which is weird because, you know, play, but for games last year, but we have seen Jordan walkins make plays.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be at training camp, but I've seen it consistently.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's there.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what's up?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Nine or empowered empire, Denmark in the house.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely love that.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, him deferred you the freaking man.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Man, the fight for white receivers got to be a dogfight.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, Shannon.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's just tough.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: It just is, Brady.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: So do you think we have a top 10 wide receiver room?
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not with names, but with potential.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Top 10's hard.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely, you know, I remember after the draft,
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: I went through and just started counting do I have man it might be in my season long notes let me just do a real quick and I know this You know I might not be able to find it.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I'm going to.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm trying to do just a quick search on my notes page, which has, I don't even know how many pages, too many pages.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Because I remember doing just a quick off-the-wall kind of where the 40 hours wide receiver room ranks and which rooms I would put ahead of them.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: They were kind of in that 10 to 15 range.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: And for a few of them, it's like, okay, you might be able to get them as high as eight.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: that that that's a big if you know if you want to press depth over starters and whatever else, but they're definitely probably you could argue one of the best improved position groups across the NFL definitely the most improved position group for the 49ers going from 20 25 20 26 it's the wide receiver room you brought in five new guys you get cowling back to order walk
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's a solid room, man.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: It is a solid room.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Monki, appreciate the kind which is you are the freakin' man.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: You are the man.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: John, my guy, Brady here, what's up, Brady?
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: We met at the Seattle Game of the Press Box week one last year, I helped you set up a bit.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, Brady.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for making the connection in my brainhead.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: I just see all the tags and stuff.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: I have struggle.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: with the connection.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: He asked you still have Australia's spots over for the Australia trip.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I do.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we do.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Um, now the Australia trips crazy.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, whatever they announced it, I was like, oh, we're going.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we are going in the wife's going.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: I did finalize her ticket and all that stuff.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um,
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: But when people are like, do you don't want to go to Australia chips so bad?
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, awesome.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really hope you come out.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: Look at prices first.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's insanity.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: I never knew how expensive Australia is.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's insane literally the venues that we have.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: most expensive venues, tickets, most expensive tickets, hotels, most, like it's just pricey.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, go to 49er's rushroadtrip.com.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: We have tickets up for just the tailgate.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: We have tickets up for the day before.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: And if you click on either one of those Australia packages or events, you'll see a link for the entire Australia package which includes airfare hotels, trips to the wildlife, trips to the beach.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing a wine tour, like all kinds of different stuff.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is there.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Same thing with Mexico.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to international out once, but twice this year, 40 nitrous rushrochip.com.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: You just click on one of the Mexico events.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: We have the day before rally and we have the all-inclusive tailgate.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: You click on one of those and you can just buy to that all a card event.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: But on both of those events, you'll see a little hyperlink where if you want to do to Mexico with flights, hotel included, ticket, game tickets included, all that.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: We whatever it is you want for those international games because I understand the stress.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: that goes into that.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take that all the way.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's not cheap, it is a lot, because one, we don't do cheap trips.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: We stay in a very nice hotel in a very safe place.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: And that if you buy the full package with us, that includes all you could eat, drinks, game tickets, you name it, everything transportation.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we got it covered for you.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: I understand this not for everybody.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: We are trying to host these events.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: And again, that's why we do all the card options as well.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, our motto for all of our rush road trips is to break even.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're not breaking even this year.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: We are losing, and considering we're losing with that much Australia cost, and how much makes you go cost.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I see those as trips of a lifetime experiences of a lifetime.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: And if I could participate in place at a tiny little role in somebody else having one of those trips of a lifetime and memories for lifetime that is why we do this I make my money on the podcast sponsorships and you know the 49ers rush calm and our patreon that is how I see my income yeah always like to make more and you might as well plug it while we're here we have a zoom hang out tonight.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Um, tonight the 29th at 5 p.m. is where I get here from you guys so come join us the details for that zoom hang out as I've already been posted on our patreon channel link in the description of this video or podcasts or on the 40 Irish horse dot com link in the description of our video or podcasts, however you watch and or listen.

- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Go check it out.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Come join us tonight and cancel afterwards.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: No skit off my back.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not a big deal.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: But if you like what we do here and you want us to do it more often.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's the way to do it, that allows us to kind of do our thing allows us.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, walkins is bigger, not height, but bulk compared to Cowen's tiny.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he's a micro machine.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt about it.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, like, you've got like the three Goldilock and the three bears.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like Coward, the baby bear.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: You got walkins right in the middle.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then you got to Sean Stripley, Mike Evans, who are just like these
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, uh, and notorious.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, man?
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, brother.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: Just need walkin' to stay healthy, that, that, that, that he's, high ankle sprain, that happens.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: that happens.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Brady, yeah, I think Bergen's getting cut.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's even a chance.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: He makes it sadly.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, we'll see.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, right here, John Swanson, 11 weeks of recovery.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Kate, she had a head reduced to two weeks recovery.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: Soft tissue problems are especially.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, probably shouldn't have clicked on that.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I love the back and forth that is taking it on in the chat.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that's true to walk.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's now a new edition comes in at number 42.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Cheap, but experienced veteran depth.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Major injury red flag.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Can you guess the player none other than Robert Jones coming in fighting for that left guard starting spot.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: He is 27 crazy whenever you look at the career that he is had.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is somebody that started multiple games at multiple positions.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_01]: Great run blocking
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, went to Rockford East High School, wasn't recruited out of high school, so we went to community college draft, went to Highland Community College for two seasons.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Then transfers to Middle Tennessee State, was there for two years, goes undrafted.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, and eventually he becomes a four year starter for the dolphins, like, not recruited community college transfers up to middle, like, middle Tennessee state is a.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: historic university with amazing players, pepper throughout NFL history.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: But usually these types of players that are 64, they have this size, whatever.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: They transfer to one of the big four conference programs, transfer to Tennessee State, didn't get any publicity, no draft whatever, gets an undrafted free agent, starts four years for the dolphins,
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: But then, breaks a neck in his bone, breaks a neck bone in his neck last year in practice.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: It just really has not played for basically a year and a half.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: So this guy, you know, he was on the cowboys never really played.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he,
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: broke the bone and his neck seems to be ready to roll.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's 27 years old, but man, that is a major, major issue.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: If there is any issues that arise from that, this career is probably over next time that's up.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: So then you start going through like, well, what did the 49ers pay to get this guy?
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: One year, $1.7 million deal, almost fully guaranteed.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: $1.6 million of it is guaranteed.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is considerably more than what they paid in March last year to come in and start, couldn't stay healthy.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: But like you're paying, and again,
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones going into his six NFL seasons play 49 games.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: He started 30 of them, 2,100 plus snaps majority at left guard.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's where the 40 hours needed.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's a run blocking zone scheme heavy handed left guard quality.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: Is he a top 10?
- 28:11[SPEAKER_01]: No, is he a top 20?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Is he top 30?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: No, but this is a 27 year old that fits your scheme that has so much experience already in this
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: that could step in and start and he's 27 on a one year deal.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: This could be a guy that starts for three years could be a guy that is a play at all.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is a gamble.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is, let's see what happens.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_01]: 40 hours don't value paying offensive line.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: They, you know, you get the Jake brindles.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you get somebody like a Lincoln Tomlinson.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: You get Spencer Berford.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: You get these guys and you let Aaron banks let them go get paid elsewhere.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: They do not invest capital in the left guard, right guard spots.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: They just don't.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: And so if Robert Jones can fulfill that job and do an adequate job, man, maybe you lock him up for a two to three year deal and pay I'm four to five million a year.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: Not that would make the 49ers happier.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's just played a lot of quality snaps.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: And they don't really have that in that room.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: So it means 27, but does have a broken bone in his neck that he had surgery on.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's overcoming that.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now you look at the depth chart.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: at the guard spot, Dominique Pune, clear cut, giant chasm between him and anybody else.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby is who I think is going to win the left guard job, Brett Toth, he's your kind of utility guy, center guard, he do it all, Robert Jones, probably left guard, only Carver Willis, where's he going to fit, Nick Sequel, yeah, he's still there.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of where it is, but man, you look at Robert Jones, $8.7 million career earned.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that is just so cool, man.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's see how the comments are coming.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Cubs coming in hot.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: Nope, didn't guess Robert Jones either.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really not good at this game.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's a fun game to play.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I need to do better on the clues.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: My Alex Trebek is weak.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: I gotta improve on giving you guys better clues.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna put that on me.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: Don't give up on me, Cubs.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Don't you quit.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, I knew he was next.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: But if he is healthy, he can be a great addition to the online.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, neck and his bone, Texas, it's gonna happen.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's all chumpled up here in the brain bucket.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't come out the correct order sometimes.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can't help it.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: And it just goes too fast, it comes out too slow and it's just bad.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Right here, have we gotten to Toth or Vendarian yet?
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: We have not.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: They have not been covered yet.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: If juice does it make the top 20, I might cry real tears.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Hang in there, Gav, you know, I love you, man.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I love you.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out pop, baby steps, baby steps, baby steps.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Robert Jodes, that's comes in at number 42.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to number 41.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: None other than Neo himself that shows in one.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's old, he's tough, he's a rookie.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Blow average measurables, but man, one of these rickies got to hit at some point.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Klan black comes in number 41 pretty high, you know, I talked about all the wide receiver depth and there are positions where the 40 hours are just stacked.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about linebacker, you talk about corner, you talk about wide receiver, you talk about quarterback, lot of bodies in the offensive line, defense attack or room, all those
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: light light light.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were going to add two running backs.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: They only added one.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a mistake.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that they need another running back.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: One just to get through training camp because again, Christian McAfrey, he don't practice very much.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're going to wear these dudes out.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Caleb and Black, let's focus on him.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: Number 41 on the roster countdown.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 26?
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: Five, nine, two, eight, small frame.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Already 24, we'll turn 25 when the season starts.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: One of the oldest rookie running bags drafted in a long, long, long, long, long, long time.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_01]: Dude wasn't even invited to the combine.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Super small, stature, frame-wise, small hands, small arms, small legs.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jack though.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this dude 450 bench press 500 plus squats.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Dude has never missed a day in the weight room in his life.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's a mallet and stuff at 2.0 like he is Jack, which is positive and negative because
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: his physicality is maxed out.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: He cannot add more weight.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: He cannot add more speed.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: This dude is already you have evolved this human being as much as physically possible with the statue that he was given.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why the dude was not a starter in college.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: He started one year at James Madison out of six years.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like he started one year.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: He has started three seasons.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good player.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great kid.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a great attitude.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: This was probably the pick that pissed everybody off.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: The most out of 49ers fans.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: because one, you always get these third round runny backs that are insane reaches that nobody else thought whatever, Katelyn Black is that's not his fault.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's not his fault.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: He is nothing to do with tight Davis price with, you know, Joe Williams with, shoot out your trace sermon.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: He has nothing to do with any of those guys.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's not Katelyn Black's fault.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I call him Neo, because there's so much that he brings that I think is consistent.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: Consistency is key.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: You get them to eat your four.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: You get them three.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: It'll get you five.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's some big play ability there at the college level.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that translates.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is a chain mover first down machine goal line type guy.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: Question marks galore to his game.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to be very, very honest with you.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are a lot.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: The age.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: How long do running backs last in the NFL kind of deaths in it's at 28.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: This is 25 already Now always been a part of a running back guy committee.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's never started very similar to Isaac or window and
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: very little little little usage out of the back field.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: It can't he do anything in the receiving game.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he can, you know, and back to back years at Indiana, he only had 12 targets total through two seasons.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: Now, good news.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't drop any of them.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: You go back to 2023, whatever there's one year as a starter and Kurt Signetti system.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: He had 27 receptions that year.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: So can he do it is a question that is worth entertaining?
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Has he done it?
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: He has not.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna have to.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Went to James Madison was there for four seasons, then transferred to Indiana for two.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is the reason why he's 25 years old.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: Katelyn Black won a four kids.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Group of Virginia Beach Florida's father played the line-packer at Norfolk State.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: Black attended Salem High School, where he was a four-year settlement on the football team after he helped him sail him reach to the playoffs as a freshman.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was second team all state.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: As a sophomore, dude had 1,600 yards, 18 touchdowns, commits to James Madison Kurt Signetti stays with them.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: These Kurt Signetti specials.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: We have so many of them on this roster.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's quite interesting to say the least, just how many guys they just keep whether it's
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're getting undrafted for agents, whether it's quarterbacks, you know, you look at the maple missile, you talk last year with the defensive tackle that that CJ West, like, they got a lot of these guys, they got a lot of them.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now, he came on black graduated with a degree in liberal studies from Indiana.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: He set this invitation senior ball the only player from Miami or Indiana that were in the national championship game to go and play in the senior ball.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: This dude took.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: Frick, five days off, and then went to the freakin' Cedar Bull, like, he is a workhorse that ceases opportunities.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: You gotta love that.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: You just have to.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he had incredible college football run.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably one of the best things about him.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: You look at the three game college football playoffs that 241 rush hours, three touchdowns, and those three games.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he was at his best first the best and that was against Alabama defense, Oregon defense, Miami defense, those are no slouch defenses.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're like, man, could this guy do it in the NFL level?
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: Did he against the best of the best and was at his best versus those teams on the biggest stages?
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got to like that.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now he gets drafted the third round.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: 90th overall, at least it was the back of the third round.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a horrible running back draft class like that was the weakest position by far, so you knew there were going to be some reaches you just really hope to win the 49ers in Kyle who has done it so much.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: And man, this is, we have to see how it shakes out.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's played a play yet.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: But listen to the players that went after K-Lon Black, Tray Zoom, my number two center in this entire draft.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Bell, elite play-baked wide receiver, Jennings Dunker, Jonah Coleman, if you wanted to go running back.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Williams, Jr., and Skyler Bell, one of my favorite players in this damn draft, like there's a lot of them there.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: I hope K-Lon Black is better than all of them.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: And we're a little more removed from the draft now.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: So you know, people are starting to buy into the Caleb Black Dink.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know Krueger's all about him.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: I love that, but man, didn't even start college could make a splashing camp.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, his spot is 100% guaranteed.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: One, Isaac Rendo's hurt now.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, hang on, be ready.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're going to see what Caleb Black is.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now he needs to be a finished product because he's 25.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_01]: you're going to be 25 to start the season.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_01]: So you look at the depth chart, Christian McCaffrey, clear, Kyle use check fullback.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's for you, Gaff.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's Georgia, James and Katelyn Platte.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: Those two guys are going to get all the work they've ever wanted and more through camping preseason.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: They are going to get run into the ground.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: And there's nobody behind them.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Isaac Rondo's already injured.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Taylor Jr. who I like way more than Isaac Rindos there and since they're McCormick.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: So those of you who can't bodies, Patrick Taylor Jr. since they're McCormick, but like Jordan James, Caleb Black will be players that will contribute.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_01]: At minimum, let's assume Christian McAfrey stays his healthy as he was last year.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: That is a long assumption and a long shot.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just assume.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody's got to play the Brian Robinson role.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: At least returner, I think Jordan James and Caleb Black could be put back there as kickoff returners in the new scheme.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that works.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have Jordan James way ahead of Caleb Black.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's just fewer questions.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I've seen it in this team.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen a lot.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people expect including Ben who helps with this thing.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: He thinks that Caleb Black's going to pass Jordan James.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: You look at just the
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: invested 40 hours draft to Jordan Shames in the fourth round the draft came in black in the third so theoretically just by that measure Maybe they value Klan black even more as well
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's kind of where we are.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, that's where it is.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Kale and Black.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: Some of you guys got in there.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Captain, appreciate you, man.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Black is going to play a ton of snaps this year.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody has to.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody has to comes.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: I had Black upper 30s due to the questions about CMC work.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: I have Georgia James higher.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: But however you think that shakes out, right, um, it's possible.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: It is but let's have Joel and the house man all the way over for the Philippines being good to see you man.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully, Joel, I'm going to see it tonight.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: We got our zoom hang out.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right here.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: JV, the only way black plays a bunch of snaps is if CMC gets hurt, I think that's probably correct.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: Who is the drizzle?
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited for the untrafted running back who's going to beat out black in camp.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they don't have one of those.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Mims was there they cut him.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_01]: They currently do not have an undrafted free agent running back on the 91 man It I think that they are short Yes, it's here McCormick and Patrick Taylor Jr. Those were undrafted free agents, so maybe it's one of them No worries Logan.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully the interview went well Cubs I don't hold it against him about not being invited to the combine none of us were invited either.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: I did not get my list Can black one cut and go?
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: No
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's not his game.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: The way Caitlyn black wins is tough.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: Quick decisions and he's going to go where he's supposed to go.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Vision's good way better than Isaac Rando.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: You'd say that about anybody.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: He will do the dirty work is running back.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: If it's 31 and I'm supposed to be going through the B gap, I'm going through the B gap.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: and he can get small because he's so small frame.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: So he'll squeeze, he runs hard, he pounds his feet.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: He is not a strider.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: There are a couple plays where he runs away from some guys.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: Those are a few in far between his legs are so short that like the stride just doesn't look right, but he ran a four, four, seven.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: So speed is adequate, but he's not a burner.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is much more of,
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's not a burner.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: He he's slower than Jordan James, but similar body style like small but plays big small but plays big Joel.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, good short yardage back.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of where he excites shines.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's just very tough.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get and my favorite thing about Caleb Black.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: No negatives.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever he plays, you don't get negative place.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: He does the damn job at a very consistent pace.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: You block for two, he's going to get you for consistently.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like second and six, I love with Brock Perti.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: Second and six, I'm feeling great.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Second and seven, I'm feeling great.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to get a lot of second and 10s with Caitlin Blackback there.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: That is the positive.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to keep you ahead of chains and he's going to give you thirded manageable and he can get you first downs.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: The receiving work can came in black show on that big plays I don't expect a lot of them because like it even though he plays like a big back he's not a guy that trucks people you know I went through four games of his I saw like one hardcore truck that was awesome
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: his thing is I'm going to run really hard through this hole.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to flinch.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to hesitate and his core muscle strength is just the dude is jacked man for small frame.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: People think they're just going to pull them down and they just fall off his tree trunk legs like that is the style of runners.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: So like you're shrinking down Derek Henry.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Is the style that you see now Derek Henry has the speed and the size and all those things can't Black has none of those things that you don't have the speed and he don't have the size but he built like Derek Henry's just Yeah, you know, you just take the photo image and you just shrink it that is Caleb Black like he's a mini me to Derek Henry He's five nine to a weight and he is maxed at that he like he's already maxed out
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: In the end, I didn't throw the to the running back wasn't his fault.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: They just didn't, they did throw to the other cat.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: The other cat had way more receptions.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't throw it to him, but yeah, they didn't throw a lot.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Logan Black for a short of james is going to be great training camp battle.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: It might be the best one.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you taught me in your games.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I was just going to say he doesn't ever go backwards.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: There's no negatives on tape for Kaylin Black always ahead of schedule.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what he is.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is good.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: Black running style reminds me of Chris Carson.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Carson's one of the best athletes to be drafted the running back position in the past decade.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yes, I do agree with you.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: The running style is similar without the elite athleticism.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: Um, a Carson was huge, but it's there.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like Chris Carson either.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy, I'm with you.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: But the play style.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: very, very, very, very similar.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Very similar.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I know we talked about our international trips earlier, but if you do not, I got to get a coffee break.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you go to any 49ers away games, you've got to comp party with us this year.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip is going into its sixth year with over 40 events at road games, if you are traveling to see the 49ers play this year, you've got to comp party with us.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that,
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: We give games, trivia, giveaways.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: We partnered with TickPick this year.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: All you have to do is search 49ers rush on any of the TickPick sites, apps, you name it, and on top of all of that.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Best dressed, giveaways, autographed jerseys, kids are always included and get in for free with a ticketed adult.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times for select cities, we will have 49ers legends come out and you get to meet and greet them and get autographed, viral Bowman.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: Frank Gore, Patrick Willis, Fred Warner, are all players that we have worked with in the past and trust me.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: We got you covered 49ers rushro trip dot com.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, we could guess number 40 on our roster countdown.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect pair for Rahim Morris was a Robert Solikai, but I think he fits way better with Rahim Morris.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't get to see him last year.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: The injury completely set him back.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're going in linebacker.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: Number 40 on our roster countdown, Nick Martin.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: Had him on the show last year, kid was awesome.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's great, 23 years old.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's youngster compared to this rookie draft class that we have this year, just didn't play.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: The idea was he was going to be Drake Greenlaws replacement last year.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: He was number 22, which I remember whenever I did that kind of, I was like, this is way too high.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_01]: There's no way he could live up to this.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's fallen 18 spots from 22 to 40.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Is he even going to be a starter this year?
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: That number three linebacker spot that Rahim Morris flexes and uses is a blitzer drops in coverage kind of this this wild card crazy whatever Nick Martin's built for it perfectly big plays big hits crazy and energy shot out of the cannon All those things that you want to throw out there with linebacker play Nick Martin has it
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: had the crazy concussion last year and the thing that probably sucks the most is he finally won his starting role as a linebacker and we get to concussion on special teams.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: The early like the first special teams play five 11 to 20 where's Jersey number 45 from Oklahoma State born and raised in Texas went to plays at Grove High School young as to four brothers.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: One of his brothers,
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: Back to Nick Martin he played running back in linebacker in high school ran track it was a three star recruit coming out goes to Oklahoma state and became a starter in 2023 and had one of the best seasons a linebacker could have like it was unbelievable then he gets entered it didn't he I think towards ACO on a make sure yeah MCL towards MCL in 2024 and missed the majority of the season.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: but then comes back for the combine, shines, athleticism, awesome.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then he gets drafted in the third round, 75th overall.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: This was a Robert Solickeye.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: He was so psyched and wanted this kid so bad.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was, I mean, drafted in the same realm, third round that she drafted Fred Warner in.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's obviously, nobody's got to be Fred Warner's only one.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: but he was supposed to be a starter from the jump.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: Just couldn't catch it.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: It couldn't catch on and just didn't work out and then the concussion happened and it's just like, oh, I wanna say a wasted year because I know he learned a lot, but, ah, it just hurts.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: It probably thing that hurts the most for me.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: You look at that draft where the the Niners took Nick Martin 75th overall players taking right out on my Jacob parish, you know, my second favorite player in the draft that year was just sitting there and if you watched the draft live with us, I was screaming, I wanted two players, I wanted Jacob parish and I wanted Jared Wilson the stud center.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: Dylan Fairchild went after Joe size Stewart went after Jonah Sanker went after it's Xavier Watts went all those guys are clear-cut starters for their teams that were still on the board at 75.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't mean Nick Martin was a worse pick.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: It does one year into it, but it's just like the context just sometimes, ah, it burns.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: These goggles do nothing.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like it just hurts a little bit.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: But Nick Martin has whatever it is,
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: Just doesn't have the experience, doesn't have the reps.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: Hasn't gotten to the place where, and now he's playing a different role.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: I want him to play that number three.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: I want him to start that number three linebacker spot that blitz is off the edge because he can do all that.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: He can do it all.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: Or to the 49ers putting Nick Martin and just say, look, we drafted you, thinking you would replace Drake Greenlaw last year.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, now Drake Greenlaw's back on a one-year deal.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you replace Drake Greenlaw next year?
- 50:51[SPEAKER_01]: So to the 49ers just keep Nick Martin at will and say, dude, you just gotta learn.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: Or do they say we gotta get you out there now?
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Nick Martin first, Tatum Bethoon for that same role as a fun little spicy matchup.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: And in this defense with where he Morris, that is a position that can produce tackles, sacks, pressures, I mean, you got to be versatile.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin fits the two of T. He really, really does.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: at nine tackles last year played in seven games no starts he finally got the chance to start then got injured it was very very scary 73.9 special team score look great on special teams 78.9 tackling grade like it's coverage is his problem he had a 47.9 covers that's his issue
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: The concussion just was so weird.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, do was just on eye for IR forever and you've got no updates.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like two months, three months, four months.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're on the off season.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to retire.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, he's cleared.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's been cleared.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's doing great.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: Weird, just weird.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so I really hope things kind of get regulated for him.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: because there's something there.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want them to be another what if, but you care about the kid more than you know what I mean.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's a scary ask of cushion.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you get another one of those.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, you know, another one of those.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I, I scary.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, I really, really hope.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin goes out there and shines.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_01]: It just ceases the freaking day being just sees the day.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love Cubs says, I'm in Oklahoma City.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, man?
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: I want to es in you for my undergrad over in Bethany, little known fact there.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: He says, I'll finally get my first road trip at Dallas.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited at my girl's cowboys fan.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, she's going to be disappointed.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm excited to meet you guys.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a good time.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Nick Martin.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of you guys got it.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin is the biggest question mark on this entire team to me.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's just huge the the swings when we're doing drap profiles is like high floor high ceiling low floor low ceiling on this dude is high floor low ceiling It could be anything you have no clue he could never play again.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_01]: He get one more percussion careers done or Could be a guy getting five taxes in the linebacker.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's in the cards.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's there.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_01]: Guess he was gonna go
- 53:25[SPEAKER_01]: uh... nobody knows what he could become not even him well said well said uh... yeah i'm gonna just stay away from that one and appreciate the question sometimes if i don't know if i can't speak knowledge of the about something that was going to stay away from it and not because i don't want to contribute to something i don't know about just not my thing
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, yes, the biggest question mark.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's violent and fast out for blood, but there isn't a lot to go off of.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of tape.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully he comes back with the vengeance.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_01]: As on I love all the positives stuff that's in the chat.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are awesome.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I bid.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_01]: I was yellow for Paris to.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: I love Jacob Paris.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was just I knew it.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: I knew it.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: I loved it.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: I loved it.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: Niners.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: Now what advice would you give to a starting up 49er's podcast content creator one do it because you love it.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: Be yourself.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what you like you got to niche down.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_01]: If you're just trying to start a nine or show now.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be honest with you.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying don't do it.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's 60.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think like 68 or something like that out there already you've got to niche down.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: My role, I started 10 years ago.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 1,668, right?
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I got a little bit of a head start.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't mean your show won't be better than mine.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to take it a while to catch up.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to niche down into what it is you are bringing.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I would argue, try to bring something and nobody else is bringing.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: My thing.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be a fan of the fans.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: Everything I do is for the fans.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be positive.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be a beatwriter.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want to be an insider.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care about the negativity stuff.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be about film.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a former coach.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I bring.

- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: Stick with it.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's awesome.

- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: We got one more player.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: We got one more player.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here, Tommy, you know, 49 or minors does it out of his car.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: He has 10,000 subs now.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: You just got to figure out like find a need, fill a need, be consistent and be true to yourself.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like imagine, and I tell people this all the time, and I believe about this in life.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: You go to a job interview and you're going to be something you're not.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then you get hired.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be that version of yourself.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_01]: from there on out if you get the job.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's not good.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_01]: Be true to yourself and if they don't want you
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: you don't want them.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: You are a badass.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there is only one of you.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: So you go be yourself.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: And if for some reason, that's not enough for them.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: Whether that's dating, job, whatever.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be enough for somebody else out there.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so you just got to find that.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: Don't become something you hate and don't the comparison thing.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, there are people with way more subs and way more money and way more clicks than I will
- 57:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need one more subscriber.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: If I could maintain where I am right now for another 10 years signed me up right now.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I hope we get more subscribers and I hope my income goes up.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: That is great.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: Don't need that.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to sell my like I could there.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: I understand how the system works.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: I could make stupid ass headlines and YouTube channel clips and all that stuff and do fine.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's just not, I don't enjoy that.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to put that out into the world.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's, so like, just be who you are.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: So like, that's not just for the person that's, you know, starting their stuff.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_01]: But dude, you're a badass.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: share that with the world and allow the response to tell you if people want that or not.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's just what it is.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: I want your aid come to go up to John.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Tom.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, man.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely love it.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: And it's so funny because I want to call it forever.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I went to a lot of college grad school grad school grad school grad school and now my job.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even need a high school diploma to do, but it's funny how it works out now.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't miss or regret going to all that schooling, but it's just what it is.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Dave, what's up at John, can you help me start a show on how to shoe horn in movie quotes from Shawshake redemption.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're always yourself and we love it.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: Do appreciate you do Shawshake.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the best, it's the
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: Missed all of OTAs, versatile career depth piece on the offensive line within it, elite, work ethic that comes from his dad.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: Number 39, Brett Toth.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: The center slash guard interior offensive line minutes to the turn I'd like to use because you play all three interior spots.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: Where's Jersey number 78?
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_01]: Six, six.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big tall center, 304, 29 years old.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: from Army Baby, the Black Knights, you got to love it.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_01]: Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he went to West Ashley High School, joined the United States Military Academy, finished out as a second lieutenant in the US Army.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: Two, are you freaking kidding me?
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: What a badass Brett Tauth is.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_01]: He deferred his military service.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_01]: to join the NFL.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_01]: He found a home in Philly as an undrafted free agent, serviceable, depth player, and he played for three separate teams for the Eagles, and just bouncing on, bouncing off their practice squad, but every single time he's got it called up and play, he's played 37 games, he has six starts, and the tape is consistent, it really, really is.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's a ROTC instructor at Temple,
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, that bad ass, ma'am, a jam and bread-toth, what a unique story.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_01]: And again, you talk about what he's accomplished.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: Played 424 snaps last season.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like this guy has played football.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: he just hasn't locked on a job in the fact that he's coming from filly that is huge because that means he's been coached by stoutland who I would can't believe they moved on from him but I think he's the best of the best of the best of the best.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_01]: I could argue one of the best offensive line coaches in the history of the NFL.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to compete for the left guard job but miss all of OTA.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a little bit behind now and he's the backup center.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of ways that Brett talked makes the roster.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_01]: I would be willing to say he has less of an opportunity to earn a starting job through training camp in preseason as, you know, Connor Colby or Robert Jones.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think those two guys are probably slightly ahead of him for the left guard spot, but I can see talk the first one off the bench for left guard center or right guard.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is your versatile interior flex offensive, you know, out, you know, in filter.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: He can do everything.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: Nyers loved this type of player and I was really upset when the 49ers let Matt Hennessy go, well, turns out he just got put on a IR.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: He had an existing injury that carried over from last year and now his season's over.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: So that makes a little bit more sense.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now I was still just like dude, why is Matt Hennessy not back on the scene?
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: Not he was injured.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_01]: Try to give it a go, did it?
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: His career might be over.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_01]: So Brett Tauth did have an ACL tier in 2022, which said him back last year he started four games played in 11.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_01]: Listen, I mean, the numbers are good.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: 75.6 run blocking.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the tape shows.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's his specialty.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: 59.7 pass blocking, not great.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know, two stacks, 10 hurries, not great.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's made $5.3 million, but you look at his contract.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_01]: One year, two and a
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_01]: way more than Robert Morris, I'm sorry, Robert Morris, what am I doing here?
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones, way more than Robert Jones in guaranteed money, way more than Robert Jones in total money, way more than Matt Hinnessey got last year.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers value Brett Toth.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_01]: They really, really do.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: And there's again a myriad of ways, I can't find a way Brett Toth doesn't make the 53.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a little bit of a wild card there with the injury.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: All that kind of stuff.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby's making this roster now.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Carver Willis beats him out, but Carver Willis is making this.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of bodies out there.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: I can't find a pathway for my man Brett Toth not making this roster.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_01]: Even though he has a practice yet.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: The body of work is too good.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers paid not necessarily premium, two and a half million, it's not a premium.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: But for a backup center interior offensive lineman, 2.2 million guarantee has pretty solid.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_01]: The nighters wanted this dude there.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_01]: Big time, big time, big time.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I really like Brett Toth.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that he's gonna win the starting left card spot, but I just cannot find a way that he is not out there.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really can't.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you talk about, I mean, it's 29, he's three years younger than Jake Brindle.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_01]: If Brett Toth goes out there and proves he belongs, Brett Toth could be the starting center next year.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_01]: him and Carver Willis are kind of competing for that they want Carver Willis and I think Carver Willis will eventually be the long-term center.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's what they want.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: Brett Tothman.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what he's got there.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what he's got there.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: Have we done Pharaoh yet?
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we did.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was very low on our list Natorious GV.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm charging John three beers each for everyone the chat.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_01]: It wouldn't be the first time It would not be the first time.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's just what it is.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_01]: Logan Toth could honestly start for us if need be The 49ers champion themselves.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_01]: This is the Chris Forster way
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just get some value guys that we can plug in that can play adequate football.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just get some average players in pay below average salary.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: We sandbag some of that capital when we put it on playmakers.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: This is what they do.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is what they do.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, do with that, how you see it, like I like Brits off.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_01]: I do not see them as a game changer.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see them as like a perennial starter, but man, the versatility is nice.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_01]: Noters now.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, bro.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: This helped me a lot.
- 1:05:40[SPEAKER_01]: I will give it my all.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_01]: Go get that channel.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let us know.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll promote the channel on here to get you started.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_01]: We are happy to help in any way at all.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: Cubs right here.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_01]: You can do it.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's all about just starting.
- 1:05:53[SPEAKER_01]: Number one piece of advice.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Just start.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Don't wait for perfection.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: They.
- 1:05:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't give it to him.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_01]: What it is.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's a diet workout plan, vesting.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_01]: Don't care.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_01]: Just start.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_01]: You'll figure it out along the way and adjust along the way.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: But getting started is the hardest freaking step.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just start.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_01]: Just start.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_01]: Don't wait for perfection.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_01]: Found out the other day.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_01]: Toss name is pronounced tooth.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_01]: Tooth.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to continue to mess it up.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to try not to.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: Tooth.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_01]: Tooth.
- 1:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, yeah.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_01]: Tooth.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: Man, what a fun show.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are awesome.
- 1:06:34[SPEAKER_01]: So some dark horse impact players, like out of these five, if one guy could excel of your choice, Brett Tooth, think I said it right, Nick Martin, Katelyn Black, Robert Jones, Jordan Walkins, like if one of those guys that we cover today could be a breakout year, who would you choose?
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_01]: the upside in the need.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if any of these five.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_01]: do become that player.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that's huge.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_01]: If Jordan walk is becomes a stud.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_01]: Good Lord, then maybe you do have a guaranteed top 10 wide receiver core.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_01]: If Robert Jones comes out and has freaking awesome, the running tech resumes where it was.
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_01]: If Kaling Black is that guy, you've got to rookie running back on a rookie deal for 40 years.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're not hamstrung to
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_01]: that your offense goes through and Brett Tooth goes off.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_01]: Man, he starts at left guard.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: Could be the long-term center.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_01]: Good gosh.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_01]: If one of these guys just goes off, it'd be awesome.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Martin, Martin, Martin.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_01]: We've got one for Tooth.
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: Logan, considering how good the Niners are with linebackers, Martin at least has good toothage.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna learn.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna learn.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're a freaking Fred Warner, Johnny Holland, KJ Wright.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_00]: straight green law.
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_01]: The wealth of information in that lineback a room soak it up man soak it up guys this has been fun.
