- 1:29Speaker 1: time logo. As you can see on this episode if
- 1:32Speaker 1: you're watching YouTube or even if you look at the

- 2:12Speaker 1: who have been listening for a very long time, remember
- 2:15Speaker 1: when you know I didn't have the AI you know logo,
- 2:18Speaker 1: or I didn't have the Grand Theft auto style. You know,
- 2:21Speaker 1: it was just me on the cover. You know what
- 2:23Speaker 1: I'm saying. So check that out. It's in the description
- 2:26Speaker 1: of each episode starting with this one. The new store.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The te public store is about to go away, but

- 3:07Speaker 1: podcast becoming a member. So all of this information I'm
- 3:11Speaker 1: saying right now, whether you're listening in audio form or
- 3:14Speaker 1: watching a video, is in the description. They don't charge
- 3:19Speaker 1: your bank account when you press the link. Okay, so
- 3:22Speaker 1: if you're a little bit curious, press the link, see
- 3:26Speaker 1: what it is. If you don't like it, you know, cool.
- 3:29Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. If you want to just
- 3:31Speaker 1: keep watching, cool, We're not charging at the door. But
- 3:34Speaker 1: it does help the podcast and definitely the next phase
- 3:38Speaker 1: for this show is to promote a little bit more
- 3:41Speaker 1: on social media with ads, not me posting at Vegas World,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I inc. Not on my accounts, but ads, and we
- 3:51Speaker 1: got some of that coming up. So real quick note
- 3:54Speaker 1: if you basically miss last week episode. Last week was
- 4:02Speaker 1: about the best hip hop albums and mixtapes of twenty
- 4:07Speaker 1: twenty six so far. Right, So it's a list of
- 4:12Speaker 1: ten albums that I feel like if we were closing
- 4:15Speaker 1: out the year now halfway through twenty twenty six, but
- 4:18Speaker 1: if we were closing it out now, These ten I
- 4:22Speaker 1: think are the best projects that have that have been
- 4:26Speaker 1: released thus far. And crazy part about it is there's
- 4:30Speaker 1: a there's always a situation every year where going through
- 4:38Speaker 1: these albums as they released and you know, listening to them,
- 4:42Speaker 1: reviewing them, sometimes looking at social media to see what
- 4:45Speaker 1: other people are listening to and whether I should check
- 4:48Speaker 1: those out. And this year felt a little slow, and
- 4:54Speaker 1: it's picked up a little bit, but sometimes that second
- 4:58Speaker 1: half is just crazy. Prim ex sample is like last
- 5:01Speaker 1: year we had the Legend Hazards series kicking off in
- 5:06Speaker 1: the summer, right clips dropped in July, so it was
- 5:10Speaker 1: like the second half of the year was so crazy
- 5:14Speaker 1: that a lot of the albums that were, like, you know,
- 5:17Speaker 1: in my best of the year so far in twenty
- 5:19Speaker 1: twenty five, a lot of them didn't make it because
- 5:22Speaker 1: there were so many great albums that wound up coming
- 5:25Speaker 1: out between like July and early December. So we'll see
- 5:30Speaker 1: if this year does the same thing. But if not,
- 5:34Speaker 1: check that video out if you need some recommendations now.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Big shout out to Hotnew hip Hop dot Com, a
- 5:43Speaker 1: couple of hip hop sites but on social media because
- 5:48Speaker 1: some of them got rid of their sites, and those
- 5:51Speaker 1: are the places where I get some of my stories from.
- 5:53Speaker 1: But let's get ready to the business though real quick.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Same So Funk messed. And originally I caught this as
- 6:04Speaker 1: a part of just scrolling on Instagram, and it wasn't
- 6:09Speaker 1: coming from Flex's account, but someone had screenshotted like a
- 6:15Speaker 1: tweet or something he put out. Let me just make
- 6:17Speaker 1: sure I don't have it in front of me as
- 6:19Speaker 1: a tweet. I don't. I just had the story on it.
- 6:24Speaker 1: But the thing that caught my eye was like, all right,
- 6:30Speaker 1: Flex is ranting about something. But then as I started
- 6:34Speaker 1: to read more, I was like, oh, this is radio snitching.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So the story on Hotnew hip Hop dot com says
- 6:44Speaker 1: the title says, Funk Flex accuses DJ Enough of accepting payola,
- 6:51Speaker 1: which is crazy. Now, let's see, real quick if I
- 6:54Speaker 1: could find quotes from now. So basically the route before
- 7:03Speaker 1: I read some of this, the root of this conflict
- 7:06Speaker 1: for two people who were cool at high ninety seven
- 7:11Speaker 1: is a couple of people were fired, including DJ Enough,
- 7:16Speaker 1: and DJ Enough was accusing Flex of getting him fired,
- 7:21Speaker 1: and so they kind of did a back and forth,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and to be honest, once the back and forth started.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I was like, I'm out. I don't care like I'm out,
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But this made it interesting
- 7:35Speaker 1: because I thought that back and Forth was dead. I
- 7:37Speaker 1: know that the firing of like Rosenberg and you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: the Morning Show and all that happened not that long ago,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and they have e Bro and Rosenberg kind of having
- 7:49Speaker 1: their problems now too, you know what I'm saying, But
- 7:55Speaker 1: which is fine to me. I never thought they could
- 7:58Speaker 1: just take their morning show and go elsewhere because I
- 8:00Speaker 1: didn't think they had that many fans. But I commended
- 8:04Speaker 1: them for like trying to say, hey, we're gonna take
- 8:07Speaker 1: our thing and go over here. So I don't know,
- 8:10Speaker 1: but to see funk Master Flex ranting in this way
- 8:16Speaker 1: accusing DJ Enough of payola, and not only was he
- 8:20Speaker 1: saying he was accepting payola, he was naming the people
- 8:25Speaker 1: in the amount of money he was being given to
- 8:30Speaker 1: do things. And I'm talking about stacks for spends and
- 8:37Speaker 1: the features and appearances and just all types of crazy payola.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So they pick up the story. A hot new hip
- 8:47Speaker 1: hop picks up the story by saying, now almost a
- 8:49Speaker 1: year later, funk Flex is leveling of response against DJ
- 8:53Speaker 1: Enough in fact, he's accusing a long time DJ of
- 8:56Speaker 1: taking payola, and they go into describe it as effectively
- 9:03Speaker 1: a bride right, which it kind of is. Oh yeah,
- 9:06Speaker 1: you know. It took a minute to load, but it
- 9:09Speaker 1: is here his accusations. This was I think this was Instagram.
- 9:16Speaker 1: So this is funk Flex on Instagram on social media.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I can't tell which one it is. But DJ enough
- 9:23Speaker 1: slash heavy Hitters, I got you fired? Did French Montana
- 9:28Speaker 1: pay you twenty five k for the heavy Hitter conference call?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Did Mano pay you forty k for the mixed show
- 9:36Speaker 1: list ads? And that's adding the song, not advertisement? Was
- 9:43Speaker 1: Nori offered a discount of twenty five hundred a month
- 9:47Speaker 1: for spins? Did Miles Brando pay you ten k to perform?
- 9:54Speaker 1: I can't see what it says, So let's just go
- 9:56Speaker 1: there to perform at mix show meeting and get added
- 10:02Speaker 1: to a mixed show list. Was DJ Wavey asked to
- 10:06Speaker 1: pay twenty five hundred to spend on summer mix weekend?
- 10:11Speaker 1: This is crazy? Now? What makes it extra crazy? And
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm noticing I do not follow funk Flex on Twitter,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but if he gonna be this spicy, I need to
- 10:22Speaker 1: follow him. So I had to follow my so really quick,
- 10:28Speaker 1: so we don't spend all the time on this. But
- 10:32Speaker 1: funk Masterflex was taking Paola back in the days. Now,
- 10:35Speaker 1: I know he said he never did and all of that,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and I think he moves swiftly, but come on, now,
- 10:42Speaker 1: come on now, DJ enough is not doing something that's
- 10:45Speaker 1: unheard of. Right, it's just watch the way you move.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You feel me, and it, Paola happens like back in
- 10:55Speaker 1: the days, it was an and I'm talking about before me,
- 10:58Speaker 1: it was just a thing. You just did it, you
- 11:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying a lot of times, a lot
- 11:04Speaker 1: of artists had people that's in the street who have
- 11:07Speaker 1: the means and they just paid to ensure that, you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: the artist is going to get heard. And then you know,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the FCC rules of regulations kind of clamped down on that.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And I think it was either the late nineties or
- 11:22Speaker 1: early two thousands where Flex was being accused of this
- 11:26Speaker 1: very thing. And I remember when I heard about it
- 11:29Speaker 1: being somebody that works in radio, I was like, yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: ain't no way, he's not doing that, because in the nineties,
- 11:38Speaker 1: Flex was probably the number one DJ on the radio
- 11:42Speaker 1: in New York. Right, it was like if there was
- 11:46Speaker 1: an exclusive record that was going to hit the radio,
- 11:51Speaker 1: Flex got it, and that whole like dropping the bombs
- 11:55Speaker 1: on it like it was. It was like a part
- 11:57Speaker 1: of the culture. You know what I'm saying. It's subsiding
- 12:00Speaker 1: it now, but it was like Flex was the go
- 12:02Speaker 1: to for exclusives. A lot of rappers if they made
- 12:06Speaker 1: a disc record or they had a new hot record,
- 12:09Speaker 1: they were going right to Flex. And when you had
- 12:12Speaker 1: that kind of power in the industry where Paola is
- 12:17Speaker 1: illegal but they still do it, I just believed, like, yeah,
- 12:23Speaker 1: Flex was doing that, but you talked about as big
- 12:26Speaker 1: as his show was at that time, he would be
- 12:31Speaker 1: stupid not to do it, you know what I'm saying,
- 12:33Speaker 1: because he's these prices that DJ Enough allegedly was asking for.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Imagine what Flex was asking for at the peak of
- 12:46Speaker 1: his time on the radio. So he got rich. Okay,
- 12:51Speaker 1: not only his contract. You know, he probably had a
- 12:53Speaker 1: good contract with the station all that. But trust me,
- 12:56Speaker 1: it wasn't just like, oh, we trust Flex to listen
- 13:00Speaker 1: to the music and you know, critique it and decide
- 13:05Speaker 1: and choose Like nah, some of that stuff, even if
- 13:09Speaker 1: it was dope, was probably coming with a bag. So
- 13:12Speaker 1: that's why it's so surprising that he would list in detail,
- 13:19Speaker 1: in detail what he's alleging DJ Enough did and the
- 13:26Speaker 1: heavy hitters. So it's not just DJ Enough, but it's
- 13:29Speaker 1: like the whole crew. And I don't think he's lying
- 13:35Speaker 1: because the snitch knows the snitch right, he know, you know,
- 13:41Speaker 1: because he was probably getting bred and maybe at some
- 13:45Speaker 1: point maybe dj Ugh was getting more bread than he was,
- 13:49Speaker 1: had more relationships than he did as far as you
- 13:51Speaker 1: know get So it's it's it's a bad situation all around,
- 13:58Speaker 1: considering the ages of these guys and the fact that
- 14:04Speaker 1: even if I'm not saying this is right, but even
- 14:08Speaker 1: if funk Master Flex got DJ Enough fired for whatever reason,
- 14:14Speaker 1: or maybe they made cuts and DJ Enough had to
- 14:18Speaker 1: go and Flex didn't really save them right from getting fired.
- 14:23Speaker 1: People get fired from jobs. You go get another job.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I think Enough works at the block. I think so
- 14:31Speaker 1: or used to. And you just keep it moving, right,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you keep it moving now real quick. DJ Enough was
- 14:42Speaker 1: Biggies DJ I'm just saying as a Biggie fan. So
- 14:45Speaker 1: this is all disheartened, This is all this New York
- 14:48Speaker 1: back and forth is disheartening. But you're living your learn next,
- 14:57Speaker 1: so uh, probably three episodes back. The last time I
- 15:02Speaker 1: did a news episode, I talked about thirty eight Special
- 15:06Speaker 1: versus Jada Kiss, And for those who don't know and
- 15:09Speaker 1: hadn't seen that episode, it basically started with thirty eight
- 15:15Speaker 1: Special appearing on a podcast mentioning, you know, some of
- 15:20Speaker 1: your favorite rappers scared to get on the track with me,
- 15:23Speaker 1: and then then he kind of name kissed by name,
- 15:26Speaker 1: saying when we were together on the song Benny the
- 15:30Speaker 1: Butcher song off of the Plugs I met two I
- 15:34Speaker 1: think part one or two. Me and you know Kiss
- 15:40Speaker 1: were on the same record, Sunday School, and he was like,
- 15:43Speaker 1: everybody know you know I cooked, And he said, so
- 15:48Speaker 1: ever since that, Kiss don't want to you know, I
- 15:50Speaker 1: send a feature request, Kiss not responding. So there was
- 15:55Speaker 1: a part of me when I heard that, I was like, oh,
- 15:59Speaker 1: that's what this is about. And it was also the
- 16:02Speaker 1: way he was saying it right. It wasn't that he
- 16:05Speaker 1: just said it on some tongue in cheek, hi sportsman.
- 16:09Speaker 1: He was almost kind of like like, don't be afraid,
- 16:15Speaker 1: come on, shorty, you know what I'm saying. You're not
- 16:19Speaker 1: gonna get hurt. But and I was just like, Wow,
- 16:23Speaker 1: why is he talking to Jadakiss like this? But I
- 16:27Speaker 1: was I was curious, like, hmm, this is Jadakiss, what
- 16:31Speaker 1: would his response be? Well, maybe a week or so
- 16:36Speaker 1: after that, Jadakiss and Fat Joe debuted a new song
- 16:42Speaker 1: on their podcast called Aroma featuring Stove God Cooks, and
- 16:48Speaker 1: you know, I was really dead because I was like, oh,
- 16:51Speaker 1: new stove God. You know what I'm saying because I
- 16:53Speaker 1: wanted to hear it. And then I was like, oh,
- 16:55Speaker 1: Fat Joe on him. It was crazy. And then Jadakiss
- 16:58Speaker 1: put his backpack on and stood up and started rapping
- 17:00Speaker 1: his verse and I was like, oh, and that's how
- 17:03Speaker 1: I was listening. I was like, damn Jaykin's verse kind
- 17:06Speaker 1: of tough, but in the back of my mind, I
- 17:08Speaker 1: was like, is he gonna say something about this thirty
- 17:12Speaker 1: eight special situation? And probably the clearest the whole verse
- 17:19Speaker 1: is basically about what thirty eight Special had to say
- 17:25Speaker 1: to Jadakiss, But it wasn't direct or semi direct until
- 17:31Speaker 1: the end where he said is this about a verse
- 17:34Speaker 1: or a career? But what really made that verse hot
- 17:39Speaker 1: wasn't just that line. It was everything he was saying.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And I think I either posted this or I said
- 17:47Speaker 1: it to people personally, I was like, yo, this is
- 17:49Speaker 1: the best Jadakiss verse I've heard in years, like years,
- 17:56Speaker 1: because I was feeling like Jadakiss was kind of getting
- 18:01Speaker 1: by not purposely, but he was kind of getting by
- 18:05Speaker 1: on And this is before the verses, right, he was
- 18:08Speaker 1: getting by on his voice, his history. So certain verses,
- 18:14Speaker 1: even though they weren't crazy, they just kind of sound
- 18:16Speaker 1: ill because it was kiss right. And then when he
- 18:20Speaker 1: did the verses against Dip said, and then you know,
- 18:22Speaker 1: obviously getting new fans and reminded people of who he was,
- 18:29Speaker 1: it was you know, he kind of had this energy, right,
- 18:33Speaker 1: But that's all old stuff, you know what I'm saying
- 18:37Speaker 1: for back in the days. And I always felt like
- 18:39Speaker 1: even after the verses, some of his appearances, you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: they wasn't crazy. So I wasn't against thirty eight special.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I was against the way he did it, because I mean,
- 18:50Speaker 1: at this point, Jadakis deserves a little grace considering what
- 18:54Speaker 1: he's done in the game. And you can't pretend he
- 18:57Speaker 1: influenced you guys, because y'all y'all hold styles so to speak,
- 19:03Speaker 1: not completely, but y'all y'all from the Locks also right,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and that's how it goes right thirty especially all them
- 19:11Speaker 1: cats from upstate, they weren't around as far as like
- 19:14Speaker 1: as artists actively and or I won't say actively because
- 19:20Speaker 1: of course they've been rapping. Well, Conway kind of was
- 19:24Speaker 1: a little bit later, but you know what I mean, Like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: they weren't like artists who were out and blowing up
- 19:31Speaker 1: and collaborating around that time. You know, obviously they were younger,
- 19:35Speaker 1: so you know, to pretend like, you know, Jada Kiss
- 19:39Speaker 1: is some guy who would be scared to get on
- 19:41Speaker 1: the track when he's been on tracks with Nas and
- 19:45Speaker 1: Big and j and why would he you know what
- 19:50Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I think it was part of me
- 19:53Speaker 1: didn't like it because it was kind of like Jadakiss
- 19:57Speaker 1: deserves some grace while you kind of of taking shots
- 20:00Speaker 1: at him and coming across as emotional because he won't
- 20:06Speaker 1: fulfill a feature request and you think it's because your
- 20:11Speaker 1: verse made him afraid. And thirty eight spec verse on
- 20:16Speaker 1: Sunday School was crazy. So Jada Kiss responds on this
- 20:21Speaker 1: song the song is crazy. It's his best verse in
- 20:26Speaker 1: years to me, And I'm like, well, what thirty eight
- 20:32Speaker 1: specch got to say? Because I'm thinking, like, now, he
- 20:37Speaker 1: probably gonna sum it all up, right. He goes and
- 20:42Speaker 1: starts talking on podcasts and they're asking questions like, yoh,
- 20:49Speaker 1: where that? You heard what he said? You heard what
- 20:51Speaker 1: kids said to you? Where that? And on one podcast
- 20:56Speaker 1: he's like, you know, two bars respond to two bars?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Y'all want me to go in the booth and do
- 21:03Speaker 1: two bars? Okay with the semantics just sounding the emotional okay,
- 21:11Speaker 1: But I'm like he thirty eight specially is still dangerous. Okay,
- 21:17Speaker 1: So whatever, Maybe that's what he said there, right, because
- 21:21Speaker 1: we don't see it as two bars. We see it
- 21:23Speaker 1: as the whole verse, the whole moment on that show,
- 21:26Speaker 1: what you got to say now? Right? Then he returns
- 21:32Speaker 1: to the podcast he was on, which I believe was
- 21:34Speaker 1: Bag Feel, and he says, you know, I'm a CEO,
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm not at My career is not rapping. And I'm like,
- 21:44Speaker 1: time out, time time out, time out. You said you
- 21:50Speaker 1: said you were. You started this and it was about rapping.
- 21:55Speaker 1: It wasn't about bills and who gets paid and who
- 22:00Speaker 1: don't and blah blah blah. You started this by saying,
- 22:05Speaker 1: don't be afraid to jump on the track with me,
- 22:08Speaker 1: it was about bars. So if he gave you some bars,
- 22:11Speaker 1: we don't even care if it's two bars, maybe you
- 22:16Speaker 1: give him a light tap back. See if he respond right,
- 22:20Speaker 1: because then it swings in and I get it. Don't
- 22:23Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. When Special was talking on bag
- 22:28Speaker 1: few about being the owner, I like the post because
- 22:31Speaker 1: he is one thousand percent correct. But in hip hop,
- 22:38Speaker 1: why are you changing the subject? Man? You said this
- 22:42Speaker 1: was about bars, and now kissed them put out something crazy,
- 22:47Speaker 1: and now you saying all types of other stuff, and
- 22:49Speaker 1: then you go on at Jim Jones, which I don't mind,
- 22:52Speaker 1: to be honest, somebody need to check him with you
- 22:55Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like somebody you going at Jim
- 22:58Speaker 1: Jones and and now it's getting a little crazy. I
- 23:03Speaker 1: saw some posts where it was kind of threatening specially,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and I don't think that should be the thing. Right,
- 23:09Speaker 1: Let's just keep it hip hop. I mean, we like
- 23:11Speaker 1: this guy, but now you're getting everything you don't want
- 23:18Speaker 1: from the situation. Right. You said something from a competitive standpoint,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and even though I thought you should have gave kiss
- 23:26Speaker 1: a little bit of grace given his history, it was
- 23:33Speaker 1: too late. You already took it there and Kiss kind
- 23:37Speaker 1: of showed up with the gentleman's bars basically for the situation.
- 23:43Speaker 1: And now you're talking about who's a boss and who
- 23:45Speaker 1: is No no, no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Here's the problem, right, I'm from Brooklyn, New York. Most
- 23:53Speaker 1: of y'all know this, and what I've seen online is
- 23:58Speaker 1: the New York hip hop had some more ignorant than others.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie because one dude was like, I
- 24:03Speaker 1: never heard it. Thirty eight Special is the door. He's whack,
- 24:06Speaker 1: And I'm like, he's not whack. Let's not do that.
- 24:11Speaker 1: But he is from Rochester, and you have to stand
- 24:15Speaker 1: your ground for your town bars because New York is
- 24:22Speaker 1: on you, because, for one, it's the audacity of you,
- 24:27Speaker 1: who some people don't know. I do, but some people
- 24:30Speaker 1: who don't know you to be saying anything about Jadakus
- 24:38Speaker 1: just the history. So when Jadakis said is it about
- 24:41Speaker 1: a verse or career, he was keeping it in line
- 24:45Speaker 1: with the subject matter. And now you're trying to change
- 24:48Speaker 1: it now. Granted, thirty eight, specially as a businessman, been
- 24:53Speaker 1: dropping videos for his project and all of that, which
- 24:57Speaker 1: kind of sours the situation because I like the project,
- 25:02Speaker 1: and I think it's a good thing that he's getting
- 25:07Speaker 1: this level of exposure. But it's because it's kiss you're
- 25:13Speaker 1: talking about him, right, and some people are not feeling you.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Us hip hop has we just want to see the
- 25:21Speaker 1: back and forth, or you hop on the same track
- 25:24Speaker 1: and we debate it out and y'all get paid. We
- 25:27Speaker 1: don't care. It's hip hop. But when you start changing
- 25:31Speaker 1: the subject and you seem like really annoyed and emotional
- 25:35Speaker 1: about the response, don't even listen to half of those
- 25:41Speaker 1: Twitter fingers online who don't know your music, don't really
- 25:45Speaker 1: know jadakis music. They just want to pick a side,
- 25:48Speaker 1: and they trying to see who's popular in the grand
- 25:51Speaker 1: scheme of things, and then they just fall on Jadaki's side.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Nah man, you said it. You made it about bars.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Don't make it about the boardroom and all of that,
- 26:03Speaker 1: because that doesn't matter in hip hop. Right. Y'all put
- 26:08Speaker 1: your town on you in particular. And I don't know
- 26:12Speaker 1: if there's a history before thirty eight Specch, but he's
- 26:15Speaker 1: the nicest thing coming out of Rochester to me. Don't
- 26:19Speaker 1: sour it, man. That's like the Locks who are from Yonkers.
- 26:26Speaker 1: That's like if they were out and they were talking
- 26:28Speaker 1: about yeah, nahs don't want to jump on the track
- 26:31Speaker 1: that would have been for Neetho for them, Like you're
- 26:34Speaker 1: talking about Illmatic, the guy who made Illmatic and you
- 26:39Speaker 1: from Yonkers, like just I don't know, and I'll just
- 26:45Speaker 1: say this to kind of end that real quick is
- 26:51Speaker 1: now you got the side people jumping in. I already
- 26:54Speaker 1: heard a thirty eight specch disc record by I forget
- 26:58Speaker 1: who it was, Minx and Harlem, that's what it's called.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And they just going right at thirty eight special. I'm like,
- 27:05Speaker 1: now it's just getting out of hand. He just getting
- 27:10Speaker 1: out of hered. Kids don't even have to drop any
- 27:12Speaker 1: more bars because everybody defending him. So let's keep it
- 27:15Speaker 1: hip hop right, and if you respond, you I feel
- 27:19Speaker 1: like you have to respond now you know what I'm saying,
- 27:22Speaker 1: just for credibility's sake, and just go there, because I'm thinking, like,
- 27:27Speaker 1: if you're saying that you ain't got no verse in
- 27:30Speaker 1: the cut, what you're talking about you want me to
- 27:32Speaker 1: record two bars? No, let us say what you got.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Kendrick had ten joints for Drake and we only heard
- 27:40Speaker 1: what for. So that's what we're saying. You know what
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm saying, just if you don't want all of this
- 27:48Speaker 1: social media attention, you got to sift through who's real
- 27:51Speaker 1: who's fake, and now you got potential beefs because the
- 27:55Speaker 1: side characters are like, yo, it's up on you when
- 27:58Speaker 1: you come to town. It's like this is this is
- 28:00Speaker 1: way out of the league of what you were initially saying.
- 28:05Speaker 1: You were originally just talking about people being scared to
- 28:09Speaker 1: jump on the track with you, and I think Jadakiss's
- 28:13Speaker 1: response was a healthy like, Okay, let's let's spar you know,
- 28:18Speaker 1: let's start out with the jazz first. That's that. Let
- 28:22Speaker 1: me know what y'all think about this thirty eight spesch
- 28:25Speaker 1: Jadakiss situation. Leave your comments in the comments section below.
- 28:29Speaker 1: And lastly, I'm not even gonna lie to y'all. I
- 28:36Speaker 1: totally forgot that Rick Ross was dropping the album, and
- 28:44Speaker 1: I didn't forget that he had new music. I just
- 28:48Speaker 1: forgot about the album. And that's nothing to say about
- 28:52Speaker 1: the songs that were released. Because Minx in Miami is
- 28:55Speaker 1: an a summer anthem for me. I don't care what
- 29:00Speaker 1: you think about Max b or French Montana. That song
- 29:04Speaker 1: is perfect for this weather and I love it, and
- 29:09Speaker 1: then I heard the song he had He dropped Mahogany
- 29:14Speaker 1: caskets with Ti, and I was like, this is crazy,
- 29:17Speaker 1: and Ti get busy on this record, but I forgot
- 29:22Speaker 1: when the album was dropping, and lo and behold it
- 29:25Speaker 1: dropped today the day I'm recording this. Rick Ross's new
- 29:30Speaker 1: album is entitled Set in Stone. I don't this Rick
- 29:36Speaker 1: Ross might be coming up on like ten albums pretty soon,
- 29:41Speaker 1: got to be like seven or eight at this point,
- 29:44Speaker 1: but it's there are nineteen tracks on here. It's about
- 29:49Speaker 1: one hour and five minutes in length, which sounds crazy.
- 29:54Speaker 1: And there are a number of features. Like I said, Ti,
- 29:57Speaker 1: French Montana, Max b is on here, Rich the Kid
- 30:02Speaker 1: who else? Jeezy's on here? The dream Uh Leon Thomas
- 30:08Speaker 1: is on Gucci Maine. Like there's there's a lot of features,
- 30:14Speaker 1: but not so much that I feel like I'm not
- 30:16Speaker 1: getting a Rick Ross album. So y'all know how I
- 30:19Speaker 1: do this. Three listens. First listen is just my impressions.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Second listen listen is to listen a little deeper into
- 30:29Speaker 1: the concepts and the lyrics and things like that. And
- 30:33Speaker 1: the third listen is just to confirm my thoughts and
- 30:36Speaker 1: for those who desire a quick review. It's all right,
- 30:42Speaker 1: It's all right, And this is coming from a Rick
- 30:45Speaker 1: Ross fan, right, not a day one. I wasn't really
- 30:49Speaker 1: a fan of Rick Ross when his first album was
- 30:53Speaker 1: I think the second album. I heard that song he had,
- 30:56Speaker 1: but I think it's part of my part of Miami
- 30:59Speaker 1: was the album. But he had this song with Nelly
- 31:02Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, that's a groove. I like
- 31:04Speaker 1: that joint. I didn't know Rick Ross could make stuff
- 31:06Speaker 1: like that. But I didn't buy the album because you know,
- 31:09Speaker 1: I couldn't stand very duio muscle lude, every durio and
- 31:14Speaker 1: that was the radios for it was on all the time,
- 31:16Speaker 1: and I was just like, are they verses to this
- 31:19Speaker 1: song or just hook? But h once he dropped deeper
- 31:25Speaker 1: than rap. I've been checking for his music ever since.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And I'll just say this also for those who you
- 31:32Speaker 1: know need that quick review. If if you feel like
- 31:37Speaker 1: you've heard of Rick Ross album and you probably heard
- 31:40Speaker 1: them all because it's subject matter doesn't change, You're absolutely right.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It's the same thing, okay. But what I would say
- 31:49Speaker 1: for me as a fan, I don't care. There are
- 31:52Speaker 1: certain artists where that's why I tune into your new stuff.
- 31:57Speaker 1: To hear new versions of that, it's the same thing,
- 32:00Speaker 1: will push your t I want to hear new ways
- 32:02Speaker 1: he talks about coke. One thing I like about Rick
- 32:05Speaker 1: Ross is he does you know how like jay Z
- 32:10Speaker 1: used to make He used to rap in a way
- 32:13Speaker 1: that made you feel broke, like if you didn't have this,
- 32:16Speaker 1: if you didn't do this, you're broke. Whereas I don't
- 32:20Speaker 1: feel that way with Rick Ross. I feel like I'm
- 32:23Speaker 1: just as rich as him, even though I'm not. It
- 32:26Speaker 1: just sounds good and he and he picks some of
- 32:29Speaker 1: the best beats that go with his music and his
- 32:34Speaker 1: you know, his content, so it's it's what we know
- 32:40Speaker 1: and this album is no different. One of the things
- 32:45Speaker 1: I think is a positive for this album is it
- 32:49Speaker 1: starts out really strong, like the first three tracks I'm in.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Granted I heard two of them because they were singles,
- 33:00Speaker 1: but it starts out really strong, and I'm like, yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: we're back, because his last album was kind of like, man,
- 33:07Speaker 1: take a break for a while, which he did, but
- 33:10Speaker 1: this felt like we were back. And then a song
- 33:15Speaker 1: called face Down came on and Rich the Kid was
- 33:18Speaker 1: rapping and I was like, I don't like him. I
- 33:22Speaker 1: know some of these guys are popular, but I mean
- 33:26Speaker 1: when you're on a feature with a fan like myself
- 33:29Speaker 1: who's never really heard your music like that, it's an
- 33:32Speaker 1: opportunity to gain a new fan. And I was just like,
- 33:35Speaker 1: I don't like it. I like the beat because it's
- 33:39Speaker 1: kind of the style of beats we know, but I
- 33:44Speaker 1: just didn't like it it And maybe it's because he
- 33:47Speaker 1: rhymed first and it changed the mood after hearing three
- 33:51Speaker 1: straight joints that you like. But I didn't skip it
- 33:55Speaker 1: until like my third listen because I was like, all right,
- 33:59Speaker 1: I just know I don't like this record, so this
- 34:01Speaker 1: is a skip. But then it kind of picks up
- 34:04Speaker 1: here and there with certain records like Ring Around the
- 34:08Speaker 1: Rolls Camel Meat, I did pause. I guess may Back
- 34:14Speaker 1: Music seven featuring Gez is not as good as I
- 34:18Speaker 1: thought it was going to be. And that has more
- 34:20Speaker 1: to do with the track may Back Music. There's a
- 34:25Speaker 1: song on here and I can't remember which one it is.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Let me see if I can look real quick. This
- 34:30Speaker 1: is a song on here. Yeah, I can't remember, but
- 34:33Speaker 1: later in the album that sounds like a continuation of
- 34:38Speaker 1: may Back Music because of the beat and I kept
- 34:42Speaker 1: thinking like, well, damn, why wasn't this the beat? And
- 34:45Speaker 1: maybe it sounds too similar to the may Back music
- 34:50Speaker 1: songs from the past, but to me, the beat they chose,
- 34:54Speaker 1: it just felt like some umph was missing. Considering this
- 34:59Speaker 1: is a part of a series, but as far as
- 35:02Speaker 1: Ramen it was, it was cool living large. I didn't
- 35:06Speaker 1: really like. There's another joint called Purple Fentnel that was okay.
- 35:13Speaker 1: It's to the point where they it started getting to
- 35:16Speaker 1: the point where there were songs I liked, and then
- 35:19Speaker 1: songs I knew, like, I'm probably gonna skip this later
- 35:25Speaker 1: because it's not it's not really doing anything for me.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Like there was a couple of songs in the middle
- 35:30Speaker 1: that were fine or like okay, or I really didn't like.
- 35:34Speaker 1: And then City Likes with the Dream came on. I
- 35:37Speaker 1: was like, oh, I like this, you know what I'm saying.
- 35:39Speaker 1: And then Chain of Command was on, and I don't know,
- 35:43Speaker 1: I think it was Nino Breeze, but I need to
- 35:45Speaker 1: check out his music. That's how you do it. Because
- 35:48Speaker 1: I didn't know who he was or didn't remember one
- 35:52Speaker 1: or the other, and I was like, oh, he's kind
- 35:54Speaker 1: of dope, you know, maybe I'd check him out. I
- 35:58Speaker 1: like Big Fish with Gucci min That that track is dope.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of Kodak Black, so every time
- 36:05Speaker 1: I hear him, I'm like, why do they keep putting
- 36:06Speaker 1: them on everything? And that's just musically so like at
- 36:12Speaker 1: the end of the day, you know, you listen to
- 36:14Speaker 1: the album. It's not a long album, right, It's only
- 36:18Speaker 1: an hour and five minutes. But what I find with
- 36:23Speaker 1: this particular album is it could have been shorter, and
- 36:28Speaker 1: I know that would make it less time, but maybe
- 36:30Speaker 1: you make the doper records longer. But there was just
- 36:33Speaker 1: a lot. It was almost like too many songs, and
- 36:35Speaker 1: I think that was just you know, Rick Ross being
- 36:39Speaker 1: away from album mode for so long. He probably recorded
- 36:42Speaker 1: and now you feel like you just want to give
- 36:44Speaker 1: out a lot of music because a lot of time
- 36:46Speaker 1: has passed. But you don't necessarily have to do that,
- 36:50Speaker 1: You just don't. This feels like an album that could
- 36:54Speaker 1: have been great if it were trim down to the
- 36:57Speaker 1: best records only, and you could have threw the recides
- 37:01Speaker 1: on a deluxe that I would never listen to the
- 37:04Speaker 1: right you could through the rest of them on the deluxe.
- 37:07Speaker 1: You know what, I'm saying for those who probably liked
- 37:10Speaker 1: some of these artists, and it was. And again, it
- 37:14Speaker 1: also was a lot of features, So there were plenty
- 37:17Speaker 1: of times and not just Rich the Kid, where the
- 37:21Speaker 1: feature would start the record and I just felt like,
- 37:25Speaker 1: are we getting enough Rick Ross in this album? And
- 37:28Speaker 1: we do, but it kind of felt like there were
- 37:31Speaker 1: a lot of interruptions because either the feature was great
- 37:36Speaker 1: or they took away from the momentum of the album
- 37:40Speaker 1: and it's not therefore right like, this is Rick Ross's album.
- 37:43Speaker 1: So there you have it. Are you anticipated Rick Ross's album?
- 37:49Speaker 1: Have you heard this? Leave your review in the comments
