- 1:26Speaker 2: Markshenko the expectations for him and Zach Brensky, a big
- 1:30Speaker 2: name who is making a big case right now for

- 1:36Speaker 2: that we'll talk about among others here with Dylan Tyer
- 1:39Speaker 2: as the Blue Jackets heading into climbent Pledgerina on the
- 1:42Speaker 2: second game up back to beck after the Blue Jackets
- 1:45Speaker 2: went to ot and lost to Edmonton. Currently in the
- 1:48Speaker 2: midst of a tough stretch, facing nine of twelve games
- 1:52Speaker 2: right now on the road. Well, the Kraken coming home
- 1:55Speaker 2: with a silver lining after they lost to Dallas two
- 1:59Speaker 2: nights ago score of two to one. Jayden Schwartz had
- 2:01Speaker 2: the only goal in period one, but the Kraken refusing
- 2:05Speaker 2: to wilt, going right down to the wire and highlights
- 2:09Speaker 2: that you'll hear from here with the calls from Eva
- 2:11Speaker 2: Fitzu and Al Koniski at American Airlines centers.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Off left side, Seattle wins it. Schwartz to the line
- 2:17Speaker 3: done here side, Adam Larsen shoots ten storess. Adam Larson
- 2:26Speaker 3: from the right.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Side, ripped it toward the goal, hit something or someone
- 2:32Speaker 4: in front. Jaden Schwartz will lead the handshake line.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It's a one nothing Seeattle krack and lead well.
- 2:39Speaker 5: It starts with the face off winning the offensive end
- 2:41Speaker 5: of the ice. Matty Eveneer is getting that puck back.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It goes over to.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Adam Larsen to this head up hard wrist shut on
- 2:46Speaker 5: the ice that Jayden Schwartz gets the piece of beats
- 2:49Speaker 5: Casey the Smith top shelf glove side one nothing cracking.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Here's Hasten it to robertson left wing, pitches it in.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Front, scores Whyot Johnston passed.
- 3:00Speaker 4: The diving Matt Murray and the Dallas Stars on the
- 3:04Speaker 4: power plane tie the game fifteen.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Thirty six to go one one.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Herel Haskin in far side up the boards Ropey hints
- 3:13Speaker 4: now for.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Saging down the slot backhand on he scores want a move.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Tyler Sagan bottled the puck in tight was able.
- 3:23Speaker 3: To get a piece.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Of it on the backhand. He got Matt Murray to
- 3:27Speaker 4: go down and it's a two to one. Dallas Leeve
- 3:30Speaker 4: thirty two point two left in the second aced Marshman
- 3:34Speaker 4: walks in right side, cuts in the middle of the
- 3:36Speaker 4: ice and puts a shot on Casey the Smith. He'll
- 3:39Speaker 4: knock that puck down and holds the annals and i'd
- 3:41Speaker 4: zone entry.
- 3:42Speaker 3: He're saging out in front.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Ropey hens on goal and Matt Murray shuts it down.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Crack and pick up the rebound and Copocacko.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Futters it out to center and a puck was loosing
- 3:53Speaker 5: from the blue paint there.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Ranting left circle, Branton.
- 3:56Speaker 4: In backhand the front stone cold by Matt Murray.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Big save there, that could be a game saver.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Matt Murray down on his belly, stayed with Ranton in
- 4:06Speaker 4: the hallway. Man able to get their left leg to
- 4:10Speaker 4: kick that puck out of the loop paint. Here's march
- 4:12Speaker 4: Bett far wing blue line. Doun kept it in marshmitt
- 4:15Speaker 4: left side now Beniers Montour fires turned aside by Casey
- 4:20Speaker 4: the Smith, drone down the ice retton and bouncing a
- 4:23Speaker 4: puck to the near corner, icing gets waved off ten
- 4:26Speaker 4: seconds to play.
- 4:27Speaker 3: In the third.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Montour huff the far side, Vince dun knocks it down,
- 4:32Speaker 4: saying right, do the slut shot that one just lied.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Cocko cocko in the corner. Try the center, just on
- 4:39Speaker 4: the reach love fence. Done and there is your final horn.
- 4:44Speaker 2: The Krack in earning a split in back to back
- 4:46Speaker 2: games on the road improving, Sometimes you play well enough
- 4:50Speaker 2: to win and just get goalid. That was one of
- 4:52Speaker 2: those instances on Sunday when the Kraken failed to Dallas
- 4:56Speaker 2: two to one, all the offense coming in period one
- 4:59Speaker 2: when Jayden Schwartz his game opening goal was answered by
- 5:02Speaker 2: back to back Dallas goals from Wayan Johnston and Tyler Sagan.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Matt Murray, aiming for his first win in a Crack
- 5:08Speaker 2: in Jersey, was terrific twenty two saves on twenty four shots,
- 5:12Speaker 2: but out duel by Casey de Smith and net, earning
- 5:15Speaker 2: first Star honors admittedly deserved for him thirty saves out
- 5:19Speaker 2: of thirty one shots as well, with a krake in
- 5:21Speaker 2: coming away out shooting Dallas thirty one twenty four while
- 5:25Speaker 2: getting a solid performance in net from goaltender Matt Murray,
- 5:29Speaker 2: who unfortunately fell just short of his first career win
- 5:32Speaker 2: with the krack in. Here's the reaction from Jayden Schwartz
- 5:35Speaker 2: after the game beginning on Murray, who kept the Kraken
- 5:39Speaker 2: in the game all night long.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Made it two to one, and then he's made some
- 5:42Speaker 6: big saves to keep it two to one, keep us
- 5:44Speaker 6: in the game. So he's very happy for him. He's
- 5:45Speaker 6: been working hard. Both him and Ruby have been you know,
- 5:49Speaker 6: dialed in, and both played really well, battled hard and
- 5:54Speaker 6: need some big saves.
- 5:55Speaker 7: I know it's not in your position, but how hard
- 5:57Speaker 7: is it not to see shots for two to three
- 5:59Speaker 7: weeks and then play a game tonight.
- 6:01Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean credit to them.
- 6:03Speaker 6: They've been working hard and staying dialed in and doing
- 6:06Speaker 6: what they need to do, and it's not easy when
- 6:08Speaker 6: you're you know, not not in game one, I guess.
- 6:11Speaker 6: So they did a great job. You're happy for both
- 6:16Speaker 6: of them. They played excellent.
- 6:18Speaker 7: No consolation, But you guys want to be in close games,
- 6:21Speaker 7: right You want to make sure you have a chance
- 6:23Speaker 7: to go way out and you don't get it tonight.
- 6:25Speaker 7: But at the same time, you're you don't go down.
- 6:28Speaker 7: You got to go in with the second period, you
- 6:30Speaker 7: stay in the game.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean we played good, a lot of chances.
- 6:35Speaker 6: It was a tight checking game, was fast. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 6: it's a battle every time you play these guys. So
- 6:41Speaker 6: we had our looks, had our chances.
- 6:44Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:44Speaker 6: Our goalie and their goalie both played good.
- 6:46Speaker 2: All right, Moving ahead here to what's up next to
- 6:48Speaker 2: the seating the Crack and take on the Columbus Blue
- 6:50Speaker 2: Jackets for the first matchup of the season, home stand
- 6:53Speaker 2: opening up as well, joining us Dylan Tyer, our friend
- 6:57Speaker 2: here of Cracking this morning, also radio host for the
- 7:00Speaker 2: Blue Jackets ninety seven point one FM. The fan in
- 7:03Speaker 2: Columbus is where you can hear him and the rest. Dylan,
- 7:06Speaker 2: thank you again for doing this. We're getting into the
- 7:09Speaker 2: colder months. Has the first snowfall reached Columbus.
- 7:12Speaker 9: Yeah, we actually just got our first snowfall a night ago.
- 7:16Speaker 9: So I woke up and it was all white outside,
- 7:18Speaker 9: So it was pretty funny to see that. I was
- 7:20Speaker 9: actually up in Cleveland over the weekend, so we were
- 7:22Speaker 9: driving back in a little bit of a snowstorm back
- 7:25Speaker 9: to Columbus. But yes, we are here. Winter has arrived.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Yes, Ohio, no longer is it. Winter is coming.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I certainly understand that I can empathize where I was
- 7:35Speaker 2: born nearly in a snowstorm in Cleveland, Ohio, on a
- 7:38Speaker 2: way to the hospital, so I can.
- 7:39Speaker 8: Certainly relate on that note.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Here the first big stretcher for the Blue Jackets coming
- 7:45Speaker 2: up Dylan nine of twelve games on the road. How
- 7:47Speaker 2: much does this stretch have the potential to impact their season?
- 7:52Speaker 9: Oh, I mean, I think it's huge. You just look
- 7:54Speaker 9: at the Blue Jackets last year and they fell just
- 7:57Speaker 9: short of making the playoffs. And I think you can
- 8:00Speaker 9: look at what they did on the road last season.
- 8:04Speaker 9: I mean a lot of that is the reason they
- 8:06Speaker 9: fell short. The Blue Jackets were not very good away
- 8:09Speaker 9: from Nationwide Arena last year. They're hoping to change that
- 8:12Speaker 9: this year. The Blue Jackets started really, really nice on
- 8:15Speaker 9: the road this season. They've been playing good hockey. Faltered
- 8:19Speaker 9: a little bit on the start of their current road trip,
- 8:22Speaker 9: but they of course want to get back on track.
- 8:25Speaker 9: It's a tough schedule the rest of this month. Frankly,
- 8:28Speaker 9: all season long. It's going to be tough just because
- 8:30Speaker 9: of the Olympics and the way that everything is compacted,
- 8:32Speaker 9: but everybody has to deal with that. It's not just
- 8:35Speaker 9: the Blue Jacket. The way that I talked about it
- 8:37Speaker 9: though at the beginning of this road trip is the
- 8:39Speaker 9: Blue Jackets need to come away with points this month
- 8:42Speaker 9: in particular because just look at how tightly things are
- 8:45Speaker 9: packed right now in the Eastern Conference. The league across
- 8:48Speaker 9: the board is just so competitive right now, which is good.
- 8:52Speaker 9: The parody is awesome, but you've got to come away
- 8:55Speaker 9: with points because it is a sprint. Everybody's thinking, oh,
- 9:00Speaker 9: it's an eighty two game season, it's a marathon. I
- 9:03Speaker 9: kind of call it a sprinting marathon, like you got
- 9:05Speaker 9: to be on your p's and q's from the start.
- 9:07Speaker 9: The Blue Jackets know that they've been very, very motivated
- 9:10Speaker 9: from the start of the season because they don't want
- 9:13Speaker 9: to be in the position they were in last year
- 9:15Speaker 9: on the outside looking in when it comes down to it.
- 9:18Speaker 9: So you know, the sense of urgency is high right now.
- 9:20Speaker 9: This is a pivotal, pivotal stretch in their season.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's early, but you're starting to see
- 9:25Speaker 2: some top end teams make their move, especially in the
- 9:28Speaker 2: metro with Carolina, New Jersey, Pittsburgh. How they're hanging around
- 9:32Speaker 2: is a million dollar question here at this point. On
- 9:34Speaker 2: top of that, but you're also looking here at what
- 9:37Speaker 2: Dean Evson can do. What's the read on how he's
- 9:40Speaker 2: handled things here with this group in his second season.
- 9:43Speaker 9: Well, I mean there's a there's a good mutual respect,
- 9:48Speaker 9: I would say, between coach and players, and players and coach.
- 9:52Speaker 9: He's an interesting guy in that, you know, I would
- 9:54Speaker 9: call him a players coach in some regards, but he's
- 9:57Speaker 9: also he's also demanding and tough on these guys. I
- 10:01Speaker 9: think a big thing for the Blue Jackets coming into
- 10:03Speaker 9: training camp and going into the regular season really is that, Yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 9: it is year two with Dean Edison. The Blue Jackets
- 10:10Speaker 9: have had lots of turnover when it comes to the
- 10:13Speaker 9: head coach for the past few seasons, so the fact
- 10:15Speaker 9: that they've got continuity with the coaching staff. Also, not
- 10:19Speaker 9: very many changes to the Blue Jackets loster this offseason,
- 10:23Speaker 9: so a lot of the same guys back. It's just
- 10:26Speaker 9: more comfortability. And Emerson talked about it a lot throughout
- 10:29Speaker 9: training camps that there's not as much coaching or teaching
- 10:32Speaker 9: going on. Necessarily, it's a lot of let's get better
- 10:36Speaker 9: at the stuff that we did last season. When it
- 10:38Speaker 9: comes to the systems and things like that. For the
- 10:41Speaker 9: new guys, it's a reliance on the guys that were
- 10:45Speaker 9: here last year. You know, it's not necessarily teaching from
- 10:48Speaker 9: the coaching staff. It's instead, hey, I'm going to ask
- 10:51Speaker 9: Zach Warnsky what I need to do, or hey, Boon
- 10:54Speaker 9: Jenner is going to help me out and he's going
- 10:55Speaker 9: to guide the way. So I think he really likes
- 10:57Speaker 9: that that the team can kind of handle it, delf.
- 11:00Speaker 9: But when it comes down to it, you know, Dean
- 11:02Speaker 9: is the man in charge as well, and early this
- 11:05Speaker 9: season he's been doing some tinkering. You know, the Blue
- 11:07Speaker 9: Jackets they could stand a four more goals, so he's
- 11:10Speaker 9: been tinkering with the lines a bit. But I think
- 11:12Speaker 9: they've got a good thing going on right now at
- 11:14Speaker 9: the coaching staff and the team.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Seattle is going to going to look at Kreil Marchenko
- 11:19Speaker 2: twenty one goals for us cy young numbers he had
- 11:22Speaker 2: three years ago at the thirty goal plateau last season
- 11:26Speaker 2: and that pretty much showed that he has arrived, and
- 11:28Speaker 2: he may hit that again here for this year, Dylan,
- 11:31Speaker 2: how much more are the Blue Jackets asking out of
- 11:33Speaker 2: Marchenko in his fourth NHL season.
- 11:35Speaker 9: Well, I don't know how much it is that they're
- 11:37Speaker 9: asking from Marchenko, because if you saw the roster last
- 11:40Speaker 9: year and the way that it statistically broke down, the
- 11:44Speaker 9: Blue Jackets got contributions from up and down their lineup.
- 11:47Speaker 9: They had the most fifteen goal scorers of any team
- 11:49Speaker 9: in the NHL, so pretty good depth. I think the
- 11:53Speaker 9: hope is that there's more of the same for the
- 11:55Speaker 9: Blue Jackets this year. But early on it has been
- 11:58Speaker 9: Carol Marchenko carrying a load to Matri Verronkov has been
- 12:01Speaker 9: part of that too, and of course zak Larensky on
- 12:03Speaker 9: the Blue Jackets blue line. I will say, though you
- 12:06Speaker 9: look at some of the underlying numbers for Peral Marchenko analytically,
- 12:10Speaker 9: I think he's a top fifteen, top twenty player in
- 12:12Speaker 9: the NHL, and he certainly looks like that on a
- 12:15Speaker 9: night to night basis that, I'm not sure how underrated
- 12:18Speaker 9: Marchenko it still is, because he did break out last
- 12:21Speaker 9: year with the thirty goals and seventy plus points, but
- 12:25Speaker 9: it seems like there's still more in the tank for
- 12:27Speaker 9: the guy. He's very, very talented. He affects the game
- 12:31Speaker 9: whenever he's on the ice, so I've really enjoyed watching him,
- 12:34Speaker 9: and I think a lot of that has to do
- 12:36Speaker 9: with the battles and his compete. He's not necessarily a
- 12:40Speaker 9: physical player in the sense that he's gonna kill guys
- 12:43Speaker 9: out there, but if you watch him, he wins lots
- 12:46Speaker 9: of battles and he makes it difficult to play again.
- 12:48Speaker 9: So he has the puck a lot of course to
- 12:51Speaker 9: his playmaking and the shot terrific.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Dylan Tyer joining us here on Kracken this morning ahead
- 12:56Speaker 2: of the Crack and the Columbus Bluejackets a climbate pledge arena.
- 12:59Speaker 2: We'll get to Zachrensky here in a bid Dylan, of course,
- 13:01Speaker 2: he's a hot topic on that blue line, but more
- 13:04Speaker 2: uprunt Adam Fantili and Matty Beniers will be linked in
- 13:07Speaker 2: their careers as the guys who just narrowly missed each
- 13:10Speaker 2: other at Michigan and Fantilly picked third overall in the
- 13:13Speaker 2: twenty twenty three draft. By the time that ben Hear
- 13:16Speaker 2: has already had established himself here with the Crack, and roster.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Fantilly hit thirty one goals last season, and by most
- 13:22Speaker 2: accounts yet he's been snaking for much of this season.
- 13:25Speaker 2: So what's the challenge for him to get back to
- 13:28Speaker 2: where he needs to get to.
- 13:29Speaker 9: I just think for Fantilly it's not a matter of
- 13:32Speaker 9: necessarily scoring goals, because that's going to come. If you
- 13:35Speaker 9: recall last year, he started a little bit slow in
- 13:38Speaker 9: the first half and then completely exploded when it came
- 13:41Speaker 9: to the production and the goal scoring in the second
- 13:43Speaker 9: half last year. I think for Adam the challenge is
- 13:46Speaker 9: positively affecting the game that he's on the ice. Every
- 13:50Speaker 9: time he's on the ice, right, you want to have
- 13:52Speaker 9: an impact out there, and you want to be not
- 13:55Speaker 9: necessarily just contributing, but when it comes to the I
- 13:58Speaker 9: test and the analytics behind that, you want to prove
- 14:02Speaker 9: and you want to show that you were affecting the
- 14:04Speaker 9: hockey game when you were on the ice. So I
- 14:07Speaker 9: think just more meaningful shifts for Adam Fantilly is going
- 14:10Speaker 9: to start that and the points will come. And of course,
- 14:12Speaker 9: like I talked about in incidet Dean Edison is tinkered
- 14:15Speaker 9: with the lines a little bit. We've seen Adam Fantilly
- 14:18Speaker 9: get an opportunity to play in between Kerl Marshenko and
- 14:20Speaker 9: Dimitri Barankov, and when he did that, he looked good.
- 14:24Speaker 9: He looked better. So we'll see what the Blue Jackets
- 14:26Speaker 9: do going forward with where they play Fantilly and who
- 14:29Speaker 9: they play him with. But I think that is the
- 14:32Speaker 9: number one thing, is just positively affecting the hockey game
- 14:35Speaker 9: when you were on the ice, whether that defensively, whether
- 14:39Speaker 9: that's contributing in the offensive end. But I think that
- 14:42Speaker 9: goal scoring is going to come. He's too good of
- 14:44Speaker 9: a player, and he showed that he was too good
- 14:46Speaker 9: of a player last season to keep being staked fit
- 14:49Speaker 9: in the way that he's did.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Zach Wrensky time talk about him. He's got a great
- 14:54Speaker 2: shot to make Team US, say for the Olympics.
- 14:56Speaker 8: This winner.
- 14:57Speaker 2: His numbers just absolutely exploded this last season.
- 15:00Speaker 8: Villain.
- 15:00Speaker 2: If there was anything that you saw what may be
- 15:03Speaker 2: surprised you the most about his game and the next
- 15:07Speaker 2: level that he found.
- 15:08Speaker 9: Man, it's tough for me to be surprised, given that
- 15:12Speaker 9: I've watched Zach Warenski's entire career here in Columbus. Maybe
- 15:17Speaker 9: the one thing that I would say though, is just
- 15:19Speaker 9: the year that he reached last season without necessarily seeming tired.
- 15:23Speaker 9: You know, Zach played the most minutes in the NHL
- 15:26Speaker 9: per game last year. He's right up there again this season.
- 15:29Speaker 9: And a guy just doesn't seem to get tired. He's
- 15:32Speaker 9: always got something extra in the tank. And remember last
- 15:35Speaker 9: year he didn't get a break when it came to
- 15:38Speaker 9: the Floor Nations face off. He was te USA's leading
- 15:41Speaker 9: scorer at the Floor Nations face off. So this is
- 15:44Speaker 9: a guy that for some reason and somehow he's just
- 15:47Speaker 9: able to keep digging and keep finding energy. He really
- 15:51Speaker 9: credits it to the way that he trains in the
- 15:53Speaker 9: off season, and Adam Vantilly actually started to train with
- 15:57Speaker 9: Zach Warenski. So I'm curious to see what he looks
- 16:00Speaker 9: like too as the season goes on. But you know,
- 16:02Speaker 9: Zach has put in a lot of work. He's dealt
- 16:04Speaker 9: with injury in the past in his career, and last
- 16:07Speaker 9: season he stayed mostly healthy and you know, obviously, so far,
- 16:10Speaker 9: so good this year. But I would say that's just
- 16:14Speaker 9: if I had to take one thing that surprises me
- 16:16Speaker 9: about Zach Warenski that he somehow continues to find more
- 16:21Speaker 9: when you know, he has proven that he's one of
