- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Sandy and Samantha and welcome to Stuff.
- 0:08Speaker 2: And Never Told You production by her Radio, and welcome
- 0:19Speaker 2: to another edition of a Happy Hour. As always, if
- 0:23Speaker 2: you choose to drink, please do so responsibly. Or whatever
- 0:25Speaker 2: you're doing, do it responsibly. Samantha, are you sipping on
- 0:29Speaker 2: anything today?
- 0:31Speaker 3: I've got my throat coat tea as my voice is
- 0:33Speaker 3: still these.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Allergies they're kicking my butt. They really are, they really are.
- 0:41Speaker 1: What about you?
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, I was going to drink a beer but I
- 0:45Speaker 2: couldn't get the twist off off.
- 0:46Speaker 3: It was really embarrassing to you for four minutes and
- 0:49Speaker 3: it was a disaster.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It was horrible.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I'm going to go conquer it after this. I can't
- 0:53Speaker 2: let this. I mean, I'm sad that you witnessed it.
- 0:57Speaker 3: No, I found it amusing. I was more concerned that
- 1:00Speaker 3: you was going to spew everywhere. So I feel like
- 1:02Speaker 3: you had a victory.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Its sound, yeah, yeah, but anyway, because of that, I
- 1:09Speaker 4: was trying to mix things up, but I went back
- 1:11Speaker 4: to my mom's wine.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, said no you need wine?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, honestly kind of and peek behind the curtain.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We're recording this way earlier, like this is happening.
- 1:29Speaker 2: This recording is happening close to our last Happy Hour recording,
- 1:34Speaker 2: so well, the wine was still there. But uh, this
- 1:41Speaker 2: episode is kind of a sad one, but we did
- 1:45Speaker 2: want to address it. Listeners, you may have noticed that
- 1:50Speaker 2: we have changed our outro uh, and that's because super
- 1:55Speaker 2: producer Christina and contruder Joey have moved on to better things.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm excited to see what they'll do. Uh.
- 2:07Speaker 2: This doesn't mean that we'll never be hearing from them again.
- 2:11Speaker 2: We still have to finish out our Twilight episodes.
- 2:14Speaker 1: For instance.
- 2:15Speaker 3: We've already talked with them about that we're gonna be
- 2:18Speaker 3: at Twilight Sex and the City maybe like we got
- 2:21Speaker 3: things mm hmm.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, we've been in contact, and you know, that's the
- 2:27Speaker 2: thing is that they were such a huge part of
- 2:32Speaker 2: this show and what it is and how it got
- 2:35Speaker 2: to reach this point, especially with Samantha and I.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Uh, and they are our friends.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So it's not it's it's you know, we're gonna be
- 2:45Speaker 2: in touch with them outside of this, but it's still
- 2:47Speaker 2: I was thinking about this because I work so much
- 2:52Speaker 2: A lot of times, that's how I kind of contact
- 2:55Speaker 2: people are see people is through work, but we are
- 2:58Speaker 2: friendly also through work, which I've I'm given to understand,
- 3:02Speaker 2: is not something.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Gen Z really does anymore.
- 3:06Speaker 2: We kind of talked about that in I think one
- 3:08Speaker 2: of our gen Z dating episodes, because it used to
- 3:13Speaker 2: be you might meet somebody at your office that you
- 3:16Speaker 2: wanted to date. But anyway, a lot of my coworkers
- 3:21Speaker 2: are my friends genuinely, and Christina and Joey I would
- 3:27Speaker 2: consider in that category. And just because they're not working
- 3:32Speaker 2: with us anymore, that doesn't mean they aren't friends anymore, obviously,
- 3:37Speaker 2: but it is just kind of sad.
- 3:38Speaker 1: It's like a change.
- 3:39Speaker 2: It's a I won't get to interact with you as
- 3:43Speaker 2: much as I previously was. Yeah, we would meet up
- 3:49Speaker 2: and hang out with them. I feel like we got
- 3:53Speaker 2: each other in a lot of ways, like we.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Kind of understood.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Our specific behaviors and thought like the way we view
- 4:03Speaker 2: the world. And it does feel strange, like any kind
- 4:10Speaker 2: of transition like this feels very odd.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But it does feel strange.
- 4:15Speaker 2: To see their names or something in a work format
- 4:21Speaker 2: and know that you know they're not working with you anymore.
- 4:24Speaker 2: It feels strange to not credit them at the end,
- 4:27Speaker 2: especially when they had so much to do with shaping
- 4:30Speaker 2: what the show is. And I think, you know, Christina
- 4:36Speaker 2: is always going to be our super producer, even if
- 4:40Speaker 2: she's not currently producing the show, because she had so
- 4:45Speaker 2: much to do with getting it to where it is now.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And yeah, she's just always a super producer in our hearts.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And in reality.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And Joey was fantastic with the topics they brought. It's
- 5:04Speaker 2: always had great nerdy conversations with them personally.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Ye had amazing long conversations where I just nodded enjoyed
- 5:13Speaker 3: the enthusiasm. Yes, yeah, I think in general they made
- 5:17Speaker 3: us whole as a show because we started it was
- 5:22Speaker 3: a brand new adventure for all of us, and we
- 5:24Speaker 3: had you know, super producer Andrew at that point in time,
- 5:29Speaker 3: and then when we switched and not he was amazing
- 5:32Speaker 3: for the show, but obviously he knew and we knew like,
- 5:35Speaker 3: this is not for Sisman in general, and so having
- 5:40Speaker 3: Christina step in, having you know, Maya, who is still
- 5:44Speaker 3: our executive producer, and then having Joey be a part
- 5:47Speaker 3: of our community, it felt whole as a show, like
- 5:50Speaker 3: it felt realized in person like in our team. So
- 5:55Speaker 3: there was something to that that completion, especially because we
- 6:00Speaker 3: were all seemingly on the same page and what the
- 6:03Speaker 3: direction of the show was and how I wanted to
- 6:06Speaker 3: look and understood what it needed. Whether it's the guests
- 6:09Speaker 3: that Christina brought on, or whether it was the topics
- 6:14Speaker 3: that Joey wanted to discuss, it was something that made
- 6:17Speaker 3: us have these perspectives that felt whole, that felt.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Very put together.
- 6:23Speaker 3: So having them no longer a part of that, it
- 6:26Speaker 3: does feel a little incomplete. An he has done you
- 6:29Speaker 3: have done a phenomenal job in redoing the ending our outro,
- 6:35Speaker 3: but I know it's been difficult because it is it's
- 6:39Speaker 3: not only a habit or you know, something that you
- 6:41Speaker 3: or have been used to for five six years, but
- 6:44Speaker 3: it's also something that was a part of our show,
- 6:48Speaker 3: like in its physicality, in its presence. So it feels
- 6:55Speaker 3: like something's missing right now, even though again Producer Casey
- 7:00Speaker 3: amazing and ultro with this in this so so easy
- 7:04Speaker 3: to swing into that, but there was something to that
- 7:08Speaker 3: having them being a completion part of our team. So
- 7:11Speaker 3: it does like and I don't want to use that
- 7:13Speaker 3: like their family, because I don't. We don't advocate that
- 7:17Speaker 3: your work should be family. You should not it should
- 7:21Speaker 3: be separated, but having bonds within those spaces is beautiful too,
- 7:25Speaker 3: if you can. It's truly something special that's so different.
- 7:28Speaker 3: It's something that you always remember. It come back to,
- 7:30Speaker 3: whether it's talking about memories, whether talking about the past
- 7:33Speaker 3: and we did that not too long ago, getting together,
- 7:35Speaker 3: or talking with them, like remembering things as it began.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So it does.
- 7:40Speaker 3: It's something as a chapter that it feels abruptly ended.
- 7:47Speaker 3: It is. It is one of those things that we
- 7:49Speaker 3: were reflecting on because we have to keep moving, we
- 7:53Speaker 3: have to continue, but it doesn't mean that we're not
- 7:59Speaker 3: missing them. And they're okay, y'all, They're okay, yeah, oh yeah, Christina.
- 8:07Speaker 2: And like the way Possible said, there was some relief
- 8:15Speaker 2: because we do publish a lot and it is a
- 8:17Speaker 2: stressful job.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And I say that.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Knowing full well we are very privileged and very lucky.
- 8:24Speaker 2: But you know, it's like it's something that never ends,
- 8:28Speaker 2: and it is something to say. Christina came along pretty
- 8:35Speaker 2: soon after you did. She was a pandemic higher and
- 8:39Speaker 2: so she came in at a time of like strife, honestly,
- 8:43Speaker 2: like you were new and then she came in and
- 8:52Speaker 2: we just really were able to make things work, and
- 8:57Speaker 2: it is kind of odd to explain to somebody after
- 9:02Speaker 2: a year, six years of working together as a team,
- 9:05Speaker 2: like oh this means this, or oh we always do
- 9:09Speaker 2: it this way, or oh this is Christina did it
- 9:13Speaker 2: like this?
- 9:14Speaker 1: I don't know. There's just something to.
- 9:17Speaker 2: What we built and when you are outside of that
- 9:21Speaker 2: trying to explain it.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And I think this is a.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Point of We've talked about this before, but when somebody,
- 9:31Speaker 2: somebody moves on to a different job, you often realize
- 9:36Speaker 2: how much more they were doing or like, how much
- 9:39Speaker 2: more they are adding that you didn't quite know. But yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 2: that that was something I've definitely been feeling, and I,
- 9:52Speaker 2: you know, it's kind of a painful thing in general
- 9:57Speaker 2: for me. I've talked about this before when things change
- 10:00Speaker 2: and people move in and out of your life in
- 10:04Speaker 2: certain positions. Because again, we're gonna be friends. I don't
- 10:07Speaker 2: think that's going to change.
- 10:08Speaker 1: And they're going to come back on the show, there's
- 10:11Speaker 1: no doubt in my mind. But it's just like a
- 10:13Speaker 1: change and it feels very.
- 10:20Speaker 3: To me.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'm kind of a person who like makes a big
- 10:24Speaker 1: deal out of these things, but it.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Feels very what if we lose touch and I never
- 10:28Speaker 2: see her again, what will it be?
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:33Speaker 2: And it also just doing a podcast with somebody can
- 10:37Speaker 2: feel very intimate.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Christina knows a lot about.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Us, right.
- 10:42Speaker 1: She does, Yeah, she does.
- 10:48Speaker 2: But we're so lucky to work with such amazing people,
- 10:52Speaker 2: Like genuinely, I'm shocked at how lucky.
- 10:56Speaker 1: We are and we were, and obviously I hope for
- 11:04Speaker 1: the best.
- 11:06Speaker 2: It can feel for me sometimes I'll like shut down
- 11:10Speaker 2: when somebody moves on to another job or something, or
- 11:14Speaker 2: they even if they talk about it, because I'm like, oh, no,
- 11:18Speaker 2: I don't want you to leave, but I want you
- 11:20Speaker 2: to have better options if you found something that's really
- 11:24Speaker 2: calling to you. Right, But that can feel it's very selfish,
- 11:29Speaker 2: but I do experience it of the like.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Oh, I don't want you to leave, though it's true. Yeah.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, But all that being said, some things there's a
- 11:46Speaker 2: lot of transition happening right now.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Some things are going.
- 11:50Speaker 2: To be paused while we figured some of this stuff out,
- 11:54Speaker 2: like sex and the city, which I know I'm sorry
- 11:56Speaker 2: to think is cursed.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Maybe keep trying to finish it out. And we had
- 12:02Speaker 1: plans and then we had to quickly abort. Yeah, but
- 12:06Speaker 1: we won't forget it.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yes, it's just never once again paused for now. The
- 12:13Speaker 2: fiction is paused for now, but none of this is forgotten.
- 12:20Speaker 2: And I would recommend, you know, follow Christina and Joey
- 12:26Speaker 2: and see what they're up to.
- 12:27Speaker 1: We'll report back and they will be back.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I've got to see how this Twilight Bending plays out,
- 12:36Speaker 2: and they're both going to be involved in it absolutely, yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 12:41Speaker 2: So just wanted to give that update and wanted to
- 12:44Speaker 2: say thank you to both of them for making this
- 12:49Speaker 2: show what it is. I remember, I've been through a
- 12:54Speaker 2: lot of changes working on this show, and I remember
- 13:02Speaker 2: when Kristen left. When Kristen left, I'll don't get emotional,
- 13:10Speaker 2: hm ah yah. I just really think it's important to
- 13:15Speaker 2: shout out the work that they did.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Because it did meet a lot and we'll miss it.
- 13:26Speaker 3: M h.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I tried not to get emotional answers and and so on.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I said, this happens to me all the time.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Oh gosh, but we really I'm proud of what we
- 13:46Speaker 2: made together. Yes, yes, thank you listeners for being here.
- 13:55Speaker 2: We appreciate you so much and we do hope to.
