- 0:03Hello and welcome to today's episode of Eye Opener Society. A little different
- 0:08because I'm going to lead it today.
- 0:10But today's topic, I really wanted to talk about the importance of listening
- 0:15to and honoring your body.
- 0:17And what brought it to my attention was because the last episode,
- 0:21when I got off of it, I was like, man, that was so chaotic. And I had so many
- 0:25cool things I wanted to talk about. I didn't feel like I got to any of them.
- 0:29But as soon as I went inside, I pretty quickly ended up getting a migraine.
- 0:34And for me, that always happens when I'm like going like all over the place.
- 0:38And I just was thinking if I had slowed down and listened to my body,
- 0:44I would have postponed recording it and I would have done a better job.
- 0:48But I was so focused on trying to make sure I like met all my commitments that
- 0:52day that I once again just kind of disregarded it.
- 0:56And so that's kind of what I wanted to talk about today with different things
- 0:58to do to kind of remind us to all come back to it because it's just so freaking important.
- 1:04Well, everyone, you heard from Lizzie, who started off the show today,
- 1:08and that's fantastic. I was waiting for this. She's done a great job.
- 1:11So welcome to Eye Opener Society. Everyone, please don't forget to check out
- 1:15our dear friends, Appalachian Rootworks, appalachianrootworks.com.
- 1:20Located in Cynthiana, Kentucky, they're a full-service metaphysical shop.
- 1:23They are such wonderful people.
- 1:25Listen, the services that they offer, they're just amazing.
- 1:30It's not that they just offer these services they're very
- 1:34good at them as well so check them
- 1:36out online or you could stop in their shop if you're
- 1:39in the cynthiana kentucky area so yeah
- 1:43lizzie says we're going to be talking about our bodies and recognizing signs
- 1:48taking care of them because here's the deal just like lizzie said sometimes
- 1:54we forget or better yet we neglect our bodies because well
- 2:01Everybody uses that excuse, I'm too busy.
- 2:03I get that from everything, especially with meditation. It's just not true.
- 2:08We need to take care of this here body of ours because it houses something so
- 2:13incredibly important, which is our soul.
- 2:15Our soul's not going to feel better unless we feel better.
- 2:21And being mindful of certain things, key things, like Lizzie would have migraines and all.
- 2:26And so, Lizzie, you know when these migraines are coming, correct? Correct?
- 2:33If I'm paying attention, I do. And there's the key.
- 2:37We need to pay attention. We need to find all these little signs and something's going wrong.
- 2:44And then we can start to heal ourselves from there. On a personal note,
- 2:49I've noticed something about me.
- 2:51And I started to get some symptoms with something.
- 2:55Something that I think I need to get taken care of. and I start to do stuff
- 3:00naturally because I don't believe anymore in the doctors.
- 3:04I know pretty much what it is and I found ways to get around it.
- 3:08I'm not going to reveal anything because it's just going to manifest and I don't want that.
- 3:14But once we start to notice a sign where something's going wrong,
- 3:19if we immediately focus in on it,
- 3:23and take care of it and start picturing the healing process instead of picturing the actual problem,
- 3:33that's when we're going to actually get better.
- 3:37I agree. I agree. And I throughout the last couple of years,
- 3:41I've been trying very hard to tune more into my body.
- 3:44And something that I found is your body really is like your best friend.
- 3:49Like if you think about it, nobody has been through everything with you quite like your body has.
- 3:54And when you really slow down like in
- 3:56meditations and talk to it it'll tell you
- 3:59exactly what it wants whether it's like more nutrient
- 4:03more rest or whatever it is it's like your body
- 4:06will tell you but I think we're not
- 4:09we're not taught how to do that I agree with you
- 4:11I have a hard time with doctors a little bit sometimes no no
- 4:14hate to any doctors out there you're beautiful you know
- 4:18we just go about things just a little bit differently and I think that it's
- 4:21just so important to allow your body to tell you what's going on before letting
- 4:27everybody out and this isn't to say to not go get things typed out if you feel
- 4:31called to do though because that's part of your body's wisdom is when to tell you to do that you know.
- 4:38And you and I had an interesting conversation with empaths and how this affects them even more.
- 4:45Yeah, for sure. Like if you're used to walking into a room and being hit with
- 4:50all of these energies, right?
- 4:53And so now you're in a room with seven people and trying to coordinate the 12
- 4:57different energies that's going on in the group.
- 5:00You're not going to notice the physical sensations going on in your body that
- 5:04leads you to the hunger. Or you're only going to notice the point in time in
- 5:08which you're like, oh, crap, I have no energy and my brain isn't functioning well.
- 5:12Oh, correct. I need to eat some food.
- 5:15Yeah, I experienced that with my wife a lot. And that's mostly because she's an empath, too.
- 5:21And, yeah, I've always laughed at it. She says, I forgot to eat today.
- 5:25It's like, how do you forget to eat? I'm always worrying about that.
- 5:29But this is something that empaths do suffer from. And that's usually an issue.
- 5:36But as individual people We're all different, right?
- 5:41And we all have different ailments We all have different physical things going
- 5:46on with us We need to be very, very in tune with our bodies Which in turn,
- 5:54We're much more in tune than with our minds And I always say too It's mind,
- 5:59body, soul These are the things that we need to always be aware of and to always take care of. And.
- 6:08It goes beyond just the physical stuff like, hey, I could work out every day.
- 6:13That makes my body stronger.
- 6:15It's perfect. But people have limitations on that too as well.
- 6:20So everyone needs to apply because, again, Lizzie and I, we're not doctors.
- 6:24And again, yes, doctors are beautiful people. I just don't believe in the whole medical system.
- 6:30So, yeah, we, from headaches, I get these headaches too.
- 6:35And I know the three different kind of headaches that I get,
- 6:38whether it's from stress, clenching my teeth, or just because I'm tired.
- 6:44Those are the three headaches that I get.
- 6:46Each one that I get feels different. And they're painful at times.
- 6:51But then I know it's a sign for me to now stop, recognize that pain,
- 6:56and what I'm going to do with it.
- 6:58It's perfectly okay if Lizzie comes to me and says, Gary, I cannot record the
- 7:02show because of this migraine.
- 7:04It happens I'd much rather her say that Than for her to jump on here With an
- 7:10extreme headache To the point where she can't concentrate And focus on the show,
- 7:14That's not how we do things And in a spiritual community Especially metaphysics
- 7:18If we're doing Reiki If we're doing any other kind of modality We need to be
- 7:23in the perfect alignment Mind, body, and soul,
- 7:27Before we bring anything forward to our customers Or to our collective because
- 7:33we don't want to send that negative energy or that bad, painful energy to anybody else.
- 7:40And I think it's really important to kind of watch those symptoms,
- 7:44too, because a lot of the times when something goes wrong, at least in my body,
- 7:47I'll notice like a little thought that comes up and then I'll kind of disregard it.
- 7:52And then it's like little symptoms pop up. And if I pay attention to them,
- 7:55a lot of times I can kind of stop something from happening.
- 7:58Like my migraine for example for that last episode I
- 8:01didn't know in that time that I was about to get a migraine I didn't
- 8:04have any headache yet but I should have noticed how chaotic
- 8:07my brain was that day and how much more I was slurring my speech than like this
- 8:11my standard talking and because those are two usually the two things that really
- 8:17throw me off that there's like a disconnect something that's happening right
- 8:22and so I guess now the question is what do we do how do we how do we take care of ourselves better?
- 8:27How do we notice things in our bodies and what's going on?
- 8:30What are we looking for? Because sometimes the problems could be so,
- 8:36so small and minute that we just don't pick up on it.
- 8:40I like to do like a damage control, you know, after a workout,
- 8:46after a long conversation, if it was too emotional or something,
- 8:51take a moment now to disconnect yourself from that and do an actual physical check.
- 8:57How do I feel right now? Is there any pain? Do I feel tired?
- 9:02Do I feel hungry? These are the things. This is my way of going about it. This is what I would do.
- 9:07And occasionally I do say, how am I feeling right now?
- 9:10It's kind of a mental damage control that you could do on your body.
- 9:15As long as you practice that and you get yourself in that routine,
- 9:20this is one way to keep yourself in check.
- 9:24Yeah, for sure. I like that one. Another one that I do is I like right before
- 9:29bed, I like to lay down and just like talk to my body. You know, how's your day going?
- 9:34You know, I'll be kind of like goofy with it. And it's kind of funny,
- 9:37the different emotions that I'll start to feel that kind of come out of nowhere
- 9:42by just connecting to your body. There's so many different methods that you can do.
- 9:47There's lots of different visualizations that can help.
- 9:50But really, truly, if you just lay down and just like allow your body to relax and feel.
- 9:56You know, we spend all day long trying to force good posture,
- 9:59try to force a good attitude.
- 10:01We're doing so much that like your body just needs to like have a chance to
- 10:06relax and like do its thing.
- 10:09And the other thing I find a lot, and part of this comes from my massage therapist
- 10:15background, because I work with people who are working with other professionals.
- 10:19And a lot of the other professionals, whether it's like chiropractors or physical
- 10:23therapists, or even personal trainers, everybody has this very linear thinking.
- 10:29You know, when you stretch, you go up, you do a lot of things to the side.
- 10:33And then our lifestyles, everything's kind of like right in front of us or like right next to us.
- 10:39But as I've been doing these intuitive movement things, I'm trying to move really
- 10:45slowly so I don't trip off the camera.
- 10:47But you know, going down like this section right here, I'll watch people.
- 10:53And it's like, it has to go down forward more in order to come out.
- 10:58They're losing this whole range of motion. But the thing is,
- 11:02is this space up here is this really tense space. That's where a lot of people put their stress.
- 11:08People are very cliche in the way that they store their emotions.
- 11:11And so, you know, you got the weight of the world on your shoulders.
- 11:14You're having an inability to change your mind. You know, all of this sits right here.
- 11:19And then if we never take that muscle and really stretch it out and let it do
- 11:24its motion, that's how you get stored motion.
- 11:27So this is, I don't know, for the people who are on video, maybe this won't make as much sense.
- 11:30But if you underlace your fingers and you push them together and apart,
- 11:34that's how your muscle contracts and relaxes.
- 11:37But your fingers slash muscle fibers will get all tangled up and then it doesn't
- 11:42stretch and release the same way.
- 11:44And that's how you get stored emotions from a scientific aspect.
- 11:49It's actually the electric charge wasn't able to discharge and that's what holds
- 11:54the muscle fibers together.
- 11:56But so if you're always going straight up and down or straight to the sides
- 12:01or leaning forward, you're missing this whole space where your muscle wants
- 12:07to discharge this energy.
- 12:10And so the other thing that I really recommend people doing is really branching
- 12:14out and trying to be very circular in their motions, in the way that they're
- 12:19handling all of their self-care.
- 12:21Everything is so streamlined and linear that you actually stop yourself from
- 12:27being able to communicate with your body because you're only looking at these
- 12:32tiny little pieces. You got to like allow everything to flow through.
- 12:39I got two thoughts because the other thing, the one thing I love doing,
- 12:44and if you're watching me on TikTok, you see me do it, earthing.
- 12:49Take your shoes off, take your socks off, and go walk in the bare grass. Touch the earth.
- 12:54The benefits are so amazing. Until you actually do it and you're actually thinking
- 13:00about it, because I know sometimes people run around barefoot and all,
- 13:02but they're not understanding what they're actually doing, where you're discharging
- 13:06all that static that builds up inside of your body and it's being discharged
- 13:10into the ground, the grounding portion of it.
- 13:14Sometimes I'm in pain and, you know, whether it be a lower back pain or,
- 13:19you know, even a leg pain, I do some earthing.
- 13:22I just rub my feet, you know, across the grass as I'm walking,
- 13:26walk back and forth a few times.
- 13:29That pain starts to reduce to the point where I don't even feel it anymore.
- 13:34Completely amazing. So earthing is one of my biggest things,
- 13:39Meditation, another one Because when you're in a meditative state You can picture
- 13:43everything in your body And you can rebuild your body And rebuild cells and
- 13:48everything else Just by thinking about it It's probably more advanced But the more you meditate,
- 13:54the easier this becomes. That's why I say you have to meditate.
- 13:59And then I want to bring up something else that you talked to me offline about
- 14:02and the indoctrination part where we sometimes forget to pee,
- 14:08eat, simply because of the indoctrination, especially in schools and all.
- 14:13So if you wanted to bring that up on this here episode.
- 14:17Yeah, for sure. I think about it even like down to when like little kids are
- 14:22little, You have to rely on the adults around you for to get the color cup you
- 14:29want. You know what I mean? For all of these things.
- 14:31And then you get into school and you have to wait to pee.
- 14:35You have to wait to eat. You have to wait to discharge the energy in your body.
- 14:39You know, everything, your time, your fun, everything is structured and given to you on a plate.
- 14:46And then when we leave school, we do the same thing in college.
- 14:49We do the same thing at our jobs. We'll do it in our relationships.
- 14:53And you know it's like everything it's like we kind of just.
- 14:57Our body is an inconvenience. Caring for it, like the timing of all of it,
- 15:03a lot of us treat it as an inconvenience.
- 15:05And that's why a lot of us don't notice anything's wrong until we're having
- 15:09bad enough where we do have to go to the doctor.
- 15:13It's because we're expecting you to, you know, you want to get sick once you
- 15:18have more PTO available at work.
- 15:20And it just doesn't really work like that you can't wait until
- 15:23you have time to take time for your body
- 15:26because your body will fucking make you
- 15:29you know what I mean and so if
- 15:32you really think that you don't have time to care for your body then
- 15:35make the time because it'll take far less time and it all comes back from that
- 15:40indoctrination because you know I don't want to get too conspiracy theory but
- 15:44if you are so busy mindlessly working to make other people money that you're
- 15:50not paying attention to your body and then you have no time and you're doing
- 15:53all these convenience foods and things,
- 15:55then it's really easy for them to make money for, you know, the food that goes
- 16:01into your mouth, the health care that comes out of it, you know,
- 16:04and everything in between it.
- 16:06It's like it creates a nice little network all because you don't honor your body.
- 16:12It's funny that you mentioned that because, you know, the other problem with
- 16:14that, especially I'm taking workplaces,
- 16:16not all of them, but some of them, like mine, the environment that you're in,
- 16:22if you're in an older building and there's mold or asbestos or, you know,
- 16:28bad HVAC systems, poor lighting, all of this damages your body.
- 16:32And then what you have mentioned too, your body can't wait.
- 16:36If I feel like screaming or.
- 16:39There's no reason I shouldn't just scream, let it out.
- 16:43If I feel I got to get up and move around, I should be able to get up and move around.
- 16:48Now, maybe not all places are that that restrictive, but however,
- 16:52at the same time, we weren't really designed for all of this.
- 16:55We were designed to act upon any impulse that we have.
- 17:00So if we do need, oh, wow, I'm really feeling anxious.
- 17:03If I walk or if I do some running, it will help me.
- 17:07But if we're trapped inside a work environment it's hard
- 17:11to do that and so that's where all this indoctrination
- 17:14all this is why it becomes more unhealthier on our
- 17:17body so I don't mind you doing the conspiracy portion
- 17:20of it because I totally agree with you and I love conspiracies so but you're
- 17:25right and I appreciate you bringing that up because it's important it is a lot
- 17:30of stuff environmentally not just within our work environment but just pollution
- 17:35and the polluted waters, the things we're drinking,
- 17:38the processed foods we're eating, it all factors into our bodies.
- 17:42That's why we need to listen. When something's happening, maybe we need to make
- 17:47those changes and not being lazy about it.
- 17:50Because so many people say, oh, I've really, I can't stop eating sweets.
- 17:53Maybe sweets are killing you. Maybe you should think that way.
- 17:57Changed your whole mind. That's what I do when it comes to sugar. I say, it's poison.
- 18:02It's an addictive substance, more so than drugs. And I keep thinking about that.
- 18:07So I don't do it. I don't eat the sweets.
- 18:10That's the way you got to train yourself. This is how you listen to your body.
- 18:15Is there anything else you'd like to add there, buddy?
- 18:18No, I'm just going to say that's beautiful. I'm glad you brought it up because
- 18:22we talked about this before, too.
- 18:24And here's the last bit that I think really confuses people.
- 18:27Because what you said there is so true
- 18:31for so many people sugar causes so
- 18:34many problems in so many people's bodies to the
- 18:37point where I was convinced that it had to be
- 18:40causing a problem in mine too and over the years I've done this multiple times
- 18:44where I completely cut out sugar from my diets like at one point I was on like
- 18:49a raw vegan diet like I was so determined to just put only good things in my
- 18:54body that I actually felt like crap all the time through a lot of it.
- 18:59And I get that people say it's because sugar is an addiction,
- 19:03right? And so you have to let it go through.
- 19:05But you know, if you're not eating any sugar for six months,
- 19:10and nothing changes, you still feel like crap, and you eat the sugar,
- 19:15and now you just suddenly feel better.
- 19:18Maybe that sugar could actually be important for you.
- 19:21The thing is, is one person for their body, they might need four hours of physical
- 19:26activity for their body to feel good, and another person might only need 30.
- 19:31Um, there's this theory about what blood type you have and what like foods you're supposed to be eating.
- 19:36I don't know if it's true or not, but I did look up mine one time and it told
- 19:40me mostly nuts and berries.
- 19:42Well, I, that's, that's what I could do all day. I could just totally snack
- 19:46on things and then have like a nice big iron rich meal, like a couple times a week.
- 19:52And that's probably what's easiest and best for me.
- 19:56That might be a coincidence with the blood thing, but it's
- 20:00funny in my house because um we all
- 20:03eat so very differently and so watching the
- 20:06things that cross in but I've always let my 11 year old pick what she eats she
- 20:11has to try whatever I make but if she doesn't like a vegetable I don't make
- 20:15her eat that vegetable we find another vegetable that she does like and what
- 20:19uh what's interesting about that is she eats so much more vegetables than everybody else around me.
- 20:24And she's the only kid I know.
- 20:27And one of the few people I know that can say, I think I need more iron. I think I need more salt.
- 20:34I think I need to drink more water today.
- 20:36You know what I mean? Like, and it's so cool, but like the thing is,
- 20:39is most of us back with that indoctrination, we're taught this much protein,
- 20:44this much carb, this much, you know what I mean? All these things,
- 20:47you finish what's on your plate.
- 20:49You don't eat your cookie until after her you
- 20:51don't get it unless you finish the plate all these all these rules
- 20:54i never did with her i put the cookie right on the plate if she ate the cookie
- 20:59first for dinner well like that's the first part of her dinner you don't get
- 21:02a cookie at the end you know but all of these things it accidentally tricked
- 21:06her into teaching herself how to listen to her body which is really interesting
- 21:11because she actually does a far better job at it than i do.
- 21:15That's pretty amazing. I love this episode.
- 21:19I think it was informative and I was completely unprepared for it,
- 21:23but yet we had talked about it because we were going to talk about diets and all that too.
- 21:28We had that one on the back burner as well. And I think this can play in and
- 21:31maybe we'll have another episode based on that too down the line.
- 21:35But I do want to let everybody know That we are going to be interviewed By our
- 21:39old listener friend, Brittany,
- 21:42We're trying to get her onto the next episode If it all works out schedule-wise
- 21:46This is going to be a lot of fun,
- 21:48Because Brittany's going to sit And she's going to interview us And we're going
- 21:51to be talking about the church And she's going to be Well,
- 21:53she'll be interviewing us about the church And I'm looking forward to that Because
- 21:57Lizzie and I are going to get to sit back And be interviewed by somebody else
- 22:01And this way we don't got to stress over what we're saying All we got to do
- 22:04is answer questions, but I think it's going to be informative as well, because...
- 22:08Getting the word out about the church, because that's the next big news that,
- 22:11you know, we got so many ideas and it'd be nice to start getting some of those
- 22:15ideas out on that episode.
- 22:18And then speaking of your daughter, we're going to try and get your daughter on too, as well.
- 22:23We got to contact her agent and everything else and see if we can't schedule something.
- 22:27But I think that episode, and I'm not going to give any revelations why and
- 22:32all, it's going to work out beautifully. I'm looking forward to that too as well.
- 22:37And we have so many more ideas, but keep following us. Check the synopsis.
- 22:43I want everybody to check out the website for our church.
- 22:46Lizzie still owes me a biography because her biography is not up yet.
- 22:52But the website is a work in progress. But Lizzie and I are both a work in progress as well.
- 22:58And so is the church. So that website is going to grow and build right along with it.
- 23:02So get in now in the earliest points This
- 23:05week you can watch us grow We got some ideas too in regards
- 23:09to that So everybody just stick with us Because we got so many beautiful things
- 23:15happening I want to thank you so much for tuning in Don't forget about our Wednesday
- 23:21night guided meditation episodes And my solo Saturday episodes as well Lizzie,
- 23:26thank you again for being here with us.
