This week we turn to the difficult question of self-love. Does the gospel call us to love ourselves? The answer to the question is not a simple or straightforward Yes or No, but both Yes and No. Scripture is ambivalent in its language about the self. On the one hand God loves us and gave his Son to die for us even while we were sinners. On the other hand we are called to die to ourselves.
