- 0:00Speaker 1: We'll get to the rest of the highlights in just
- 0:02Speaker 1: a moment, because look at this sweater dazzling you guys
- 0:06Speaker 1: brought your a game today. Chris Daly, the associate coach
- 0:08Speaker 1: of the Huskies, has joined us here court side. First off,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Happy new year, Happy new year to you. And what
- 0:13Speaker 1: balance today? Scoring the basketball? That and the defense was
- 0:17Speaker 1: very good once again.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I think going in they average over seventy and we,
- 0:23Speaker 2: you know, wanted to help hold them under sixty. And
- 0:25Speaker 2: I thought our defense was good, turned them over twenty
- 0:28Speaker 2: one times, and we only had five turnovers ourselves. So
- 0:31Speaker 2: we were getting shots. Need to work on the rebounding part.
- 0:34Speaker 2: We got out rebounded, which isn't good.
- 0:37Speaker 3: But you know we uh, we did a lot of
- 0:40Speaker 3: good things.
- 0:41Speaker 1: One of those good things the Spike getting out rebound
- 0:43Speaker 1: fourteen to four second chance points today.
- 0:45Speaker 4: That's not bad in the seat and the final I only.
- 0:47Speaker 3: See I don't see that we got a rebounded by nine.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I didn't look at it that way.
- 0:51Speaker 4: But and the five turnovers a season low by the way.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I knew we were taking care of the ball.
- 0:56Speaker 2: We were getting shots. We weren't getting a whole lot
- 0:59Speaker 2: off or rebound where we're getting the first shot. So
- 1:02Speaker 2: I just think as you're trying to get better as
- 1:04Speaker 2: a team, you really have to win those battles, especially
- 1:07Speaker 2: on the road, especially against the more competitive teams that
- 1:11Speaker 2: we're going to play, maybe just any against any team,
- 1:15Speaker 2: really you have to win those battles.
- 1:17Speaker 3: You know, we were twelve for twelve from the free
- 1:18Speaker 3: throw line, so that.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Was good season high there too.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we you know, so there were some real positives.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We just have to be smarter, I think, and that
- 1:26Speaker 2: really has to start, you know, in the new year.
- 1:28Speaker 2: You know, that has to be something that we really
- 1:31Speaker 2: focus on. We're not going to get bigger, we're not
- 1:34Speaker 2: going to get quicker, but we need to focus on
- 1:36Speaker 2: being a little bit smarter as a team.
- 1:38Speaker 4: KK Arnold certainly brought the energy today.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Huh she did.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I think it started yesterday in practice. She really played well.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And you know, homecomings for kids can go two different ways.
- 1:49Speaker 2: You know, sometimes they can be so geared up that
- 1:51Speaker 2: they don't play as well. But in KK situation today,
- 1:56Speaker 2: she certainly played well. Gave us a lift off the
- 1:58Speaker 2: bench and was just up to and was able to
- 2:02Speaker 2: create some havoc on the offensive end. Putting the ball
- 2:05Speaker 2: on the floor and get into the basket.
- 2:07Speaker 1: What'd you see from Jenna that you like today in
- 2:10Speaker 1: the post? Seems like she's gaining a little more confidence.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I know it's still a very much work in progress,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but baby steps, I guess, huh.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, Jenna is her own worst enemy in
- 2:20Speaker 2: some situations because we work hard every day at not
- 2:24Speaker 2: dribbling the ball in the lane. When you do your
- 2:27Speaker 2: work early and you're already that deep, you don't have
- 2:29Speaker 2: to dribble the ball.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And she started off the game doing that.
- 2:31Speaker 2: So that that gets her frustrated too, because then those
- 2:35Speaker 2: become you know, non shots or there were then chance
- 2:38Speaker 2: of taking a shot that's contested. But you know she's
- 2:42Speaker 2: going to get better. It's almost like she's like a
- 2:45Speaker 2: sometimes a little bit of a baby deer, like a
- 2:48Speaker 2: dough you know, where they don't where their body is
- 2:50Speaker 2: not exactly connected to everything that they're trying to do.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And I don't know if that's because she's trying to
- 2:54Speaker 2: go too fast, but she hangs with it, and you know,
- 2:59Speaker 2: her attitude is good, so she just has to keep getting.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Better, just keep grinding at it. Right, what is it now?
- 3:04Speaker 1: This stretch here, a lot of road games coming up
- 3:06Speaker 1: here for this team here, but ant to the bell
- 3:08Speaker 1: and now it's off the Villanova.
- 3:09Speaker 4: But home first.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, well we go home.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Originally we had thought about making it a road trip,
- 3:16Speaker 2: but we end up going home, which is much better
- 3:18Speaker 2: I think for everybody.
- 3:20Speaker 3: And then we'll go down to Villanova. We've got a bunch.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I think they said eleven in the next so many game,
- 3:25Speaker 2: I forget what that.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I think it's like four to the next five, starting
- 3:27Speaker 1: with today. I mean, obviously we're home next Wednesday, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: then we've got at Georgetown at Saint John's.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It's a stretch, and you know, they're not easy places
- 3:37Speaker 2: to play, and you know there's I don't know what
- 3:39Speaker 2: the final is, but Providence was beating Saint John's at
- 3:42Speaker 2: home at Providence, and so there are no easy games
- 3:46Speaker 2: on the road. When you're playing in your league, you know,
- 3:49Speaker 2: it's it's funny, it doesn't even matter. Sometimes it's just matchups.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Sometimes it's history. Sometimes it's some I don't know what
- 3:56Speaker 2: it could be, but when you're in your conference, anything
- 3:58Speaker 2: can happen. So you really you have to try to
- 4:01Speaker 2: control what you control and win all your home games,
- 4:03Speaker 2: and then you really have to win on the road
- 4:04Speaker 2: if you want to win the championship.
- 4:06Speaker 4: M that's always the case. Happy New Year, Happy New Year.
- 4:09Speaker 4: If we were doing this again on Sunday
- 4:11Speaker 3: I hope so all right, all right, thank you, you
- 4:13Speaker 3: bet
