- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. My brother in Lachino. We talk
- 0:20Speaker 3: about the time South Boston has the Boston accent. I
- 0:22Speaker 3: love when he's like, I had to shock it, shock it,
- 0:26Speaker 3: shocked it.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Shock it all you gotta do when you first open
- 0:29Speaker 4: it up and you a shock at a shock that right.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Star has an issue with Paul. I found his presentation
- 0:36Speaker 4: in tone to be obnoxious and condescending.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Shocker.
- 0:40Speaker 4: My initial take was, who the hell is he? Get
- 0:42Speaker 4: a good night of sleep? Or change what you are
- 0:46Speaker 4: before the show?
- 0:47Speaker 6: Can we come up with like some new dishes, like yes,
- 0:50Speaker 6: well if this fits where it the YouTube chats mad
- 0:54Speaker 6: at us?
- 0:55Speaker 5: By the way, why is.
- 0:56Speaker 2: The YouTube chat matter? I didn't even know there was
- 0:58Speaker 2: a YouTube chat.
- 0:58Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, football top.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Okay, okay, well even Evan's footballed out.
- 1:04Speaker 4: So just Christy Brinkley is the kind of woman like
- 1:07Speaker 4: when she was young, you know she's gonna she's gonna age,
- 1:09Speaker 4: Well you know, and she did.
- 1:12Speaker 5: How did you know that? Because she could just tell.
- 1:15Speaker 4: One more email then we'll wrap it up.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I love it when people go after Evan.
- 1:19Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered.

- 1:28Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:30Speaker 4: It is Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium, and I feel
- 1:34Speaker 4: like summer has officially started. Memorial Day weekend kicks it off,
- 1:39Speaker 4: and uh, I know her around here.
- 1:40Speaker 2: We had pretty decent weather this weekend. We we deserve
- 1:45Speaker 2: it because.
- 1:46Speaker 3: It's it does feel like a long time since the
- 1:51Speaker 3: Memorial Day was suitable for vacation. I felt like you
- 1:54Speaker 3: felt like, I really feel I got a summer weekend. Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 3: it wasn't hot, but some beach time. I don't know,
- 2:00Speaker 3: it feels like summer.
- 2:01Speaker 2: You could do whatever you wanted. Yeah, so it was.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It was. It was good, good weekend.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Now we're uh officially into summer team you know again,
- 2:12Speaker 4: just like last week, pretty much status quo, no big
- 2:14Speaker 4: news to talk about. We'll be out at practice tomorrow,
- 2:18Speaker 4: uh covering practice, so we'll have a bunch of stuff
- 2:21Speaker 4: from the practice fields at Jellette Stadium for you tomorrow.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Mini camp is fast approaching.
- 2:27Speaker 3: That's next week after.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Week after next week, I am, So, we're gonna have
- 2:32Speaker 4: to make a spreadsheet for Yeah, we were you know they.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Call it actually it's called a calendar.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Yeah, you can if a lot of scratch outs on
- 2:39Speaker 5: that calendar to.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Anyone, if anyone's listening upstairs, Matis, I need one document
- 2:46Speaker 4: with all the practices on that I need.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm getting confused.
- 2:51Speaker 6: I love how it just put Matist to work. Mattis
- 2:54Speaker 6: do this by google this.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So I I yeah, it's it's great that you know,
- 3:02Speaker 4: we're finding out about this stuff.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But it changes a lot.
- 3:05Speaker 3: It has shifted. But but I mean, really, these three weeks, it's, uh,
- 3:08Speaker 3: this is kind of it for the offseason, and then
- 3:10Speaker 3: we'll have a break at least for this year. Of
- 3:12Speaker 3: course it could change.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Well, it's a report Tom Pelasaro that the union and
- 3:17Speaker 4: the league are talking about condensing OTAs. Uh probably probably
- 3:24Speaker 4: in exchange for the eighteen you know game schedule.
- 3:28Speaker 2: We'll give away something.
- 3:29Speaker 5: What did I joke around about last week about the
- 3:32Speaker 5: Jackie Child's you know free coffee fly right, Like, yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 5: you know, no, OTAs, we're just gonna make you come
- 3:38Speaker 5: training camp earlier and you're gonna play at.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, I was thinking about a little bit,
- 3:43Speaker 3: like we don't get access to everything. So even if
- 3:46Speaker 3: they did do this and OTAs became July, like, it's
- 3:48Speaker 3: not like we're going to every like there'll be a
- 3:50Speaker 3: few practices. And if you still want to take a
- 3:52Speaker 3: vacation in early July and you're going to miss an
- 3:53Speaker 3: OTA practice, you know, I don't. I don't think it's
- 3:55Speaker 3: going to be I would vacation for early July.
- 3:58Speaker 5: No, Well, you like training camp is going to be
- 4:00Speaker 5: in early July.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Well, but they can't like start hitting pads right Like.
- 4:04Speaker 3: It sounds like they're going to start doing OTAs and
- 4:06Speaker 3: ramp up at that time, just like.
- 4:08Speaker 5: It is now. First four days will be out of pads. Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 5: well you gotta be there.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Oh so you think they're going to be in pads
- 4:13Speaker 3: by like June July eighth or starting pads. They're gonna
- 4:16Speaker 3: be pads July all three weeks July.
- 4:19Speaker 5: Maybe an extra day or two.
- 4:20Speaker 3: But yeah, that's not how I read it. I read
- 4:22Speaker 3: it like they're going to start, We're going to start
- 4:24Speaker 3: doing on field workouts no pads like they've been doing
- 4:26Speaker 3: with ot as, you know, and then camp will still July,
- 4:31Speaker 3: but it wouldn't be every day that we're going to if.
- 4:34Speaker 5: It's called training camp. I you know this is this
- 4:36Speaker 5: is classic, Paul. I have no idea what the classically,
- 4:40Speaker 5: no clue, but let's argue. I think if it's called
- 4:42Speaker 5: training camp, we're going to be there.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, especially if it's open to the public.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Oh, if it's that's what I'm saying. If it's called
- 4:49Speaker 5: training camp.
- 4:50Speaker 3: I just don't see the players going to the league saying, hey,
- 4:53Speaker 3: how about we start doing pads in early July. Like
- 4:55Speaker 3: that doesn't that doesn't make sense, Like it will be
- 4:57Speaker 3: an NFL p a proposal that they want to get
- 4:59Speaker 3: in pads.
- 4:59Speaker 6: I feel like, and this is true with everything, but
- 5:01Speaker 6: I feel like this is very good for a select
- 5:04Speaker 6: group of players. But I don't think every player is
- 5:07Speaker 6: going to be unanimous about this in support of it,
- 5:09Speaker 6: because you know, you talk about people that have families
- 5:12Speaker 6: that have kids, like your kids are still in school
- 5:15Speaker 6: when you have your off time, Like a big part
- 5:18Speaker 6: of that gap is that's when kids start summer vacation
- 5:22Speaker 6: and you can truly take like a family vacation and
- 5:24Speaker 6: get out of town with with your entire family. I
- 5:27Speaker 6: don't think that this is as good of a deal
- 5:29Speaker 6: as the nfl PA thinks.
- 5:31Speaker 2: What don't I mean, they don't have a summer. I
- 5:35Speaker 2: don't think the league cares.
- 5:37Speaker 5: I know they don't.
- 5:38Speaker 6: I just don't see what what's that's why the NFLPA
- 5:41Speaker 6: is coming to them and saying we want to do this,
- 5:44Speaker 6: and I don't.
- 5:45Speaker 5: I guess I just don't necessarily see.
- 5:47Speaker 4: You don't get it. You don't get it the nfl PA.
- 5:50Speaker 4: This this is a bug that was put into the NFLPA.
- 5:53Speaker 4: This is this is the owner saying, there's no need
- 5:56Speaker 4: for you to come back in May. But if we
- 5:59Speaker 4: give you that, then you give us the eighteen games skill.
- 6:02Speaker 6: But my point, right, I hear what you're saying, But
- 6:04Speaker 6: my point is is that like, why why are you
- 6:06Speaker 6: taking that that deal? Well, especially if toduce his point,
- 6:09Speaker 6: if they're gonna.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Be but we're assuming that they're going to, uh make
- 6:15Speaker 4: training camp longer. Maybe you know, the league is saying, listen,
- 6:19Speaker 4: if you don't think you need to practice, that's a
- 6:20Speaker 4: that's fine.
- 6:21Speaker 5: It's it doesn't hurt out to do something.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Well, no, but they'll just have they'll maybe have you know,
- 6:28Speaker 4: workout on your own. Uh, they said they might have
- 6:31Speaker 4: virtual stuff and then when you get here, maybe it's
- 6:34Speaker 4: a week longer than.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It is now. I don't think the owners care about that.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Okay, I'm just and you guys have obviously done way
- 6:41Speaker 5: more research. I'm just operating strictly off of one to right.
- 6:47Speaker 5: His tweet said possibly late June early July training camp start. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 5: possibly so, But that's that's the right now, that's the
- 6:56Speaker 5: rumored report.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but they're gonna talk about it. It's it's gonna cut.
- 7:00Speaker 5: But the question is, like what Mike is saying, does
- 7:02Speaker 5: that does that mean like training camp is starting then
- 7:05Speaker 5: or is that a ramp up period starting then? I
- 7:08Speaker 5: personally think if it's called training camp, it's going to
- 7:11Speaker 5: be open and it's going to start whenever it starts.
- 7:14Speaker 5: And you're going two three weeks more than we know.
- 7:17Speaker 4: But this is what the owners are probably floating to
- 7:20Speaker 4: the association. And then they'll say, oh, okay, we'll give
- 7:24Speaker 4: you back those those two weeks. You know, like they
- 7:26Speaker 4: always hold something, you know, in their pocket to put
- 7:31Speaker 4: on the negotiating table. So if it means oh, starting
- 7:33Speaker 4: a little later, I'll say, okay, we'll relent we'll give
- 7:36Speaker 4: you that when and.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Then in fact they don't care. You know, all they
- 7:40Speaker 2: care about are the games.
- 7:41Speaker 5: We just go longer elim I understand the ramp up period.
- 7:46Speaker 6: I actually think that would be good because you really,
- 7:50Speaker 6: for players, they really do get thrown.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Right into the fire in July.
- 7:52Speaker 6: Like you come back from that, you know, the five
- 7:54Speaker 6: weeks that we have off or whatever, and then it's
- 7:57Speaker 6: two or three days of non padded like OTA style practices,
- 8:00Speaker 6: and then you're right into pads and joint practices, and
- 8:03Speaker 6: then preseason games are on the horizon. It does feel
- 8:06Speaker 6: like maybe like a two week, week and a half
- 8:08Speaker 6: whatever ramp up period to just might eliminate some of
- 8:12Speaker 6: like the hamstring polls and the calf strains, all that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Kind of stuff.
- 8:16Speaker 4: If they get the eighteen game schedule, they're going to
- 8:18Speaker 4: eliminate one preseason game. So that means you can start
- 8:22Speaker 4: preseason games a little later and add that weekend to
- 8:25Speaker 4: the ramp up or whatever you want to call it.
- 8:27Speaker 2: You know, so you have that extra week of non
- 8:30Speaker 2: preseason that you can use.
- 8:32Speaker 6: For because right now it's a five day ramp up.
- 8:35Speaker 6: I forget what they call it. It might actually be
- 8:37Speaker 6: ramp up that they have that it's like three days
- 8:39Speaker 6: no pads, and you know there's different rules of okay,
- 8:42Speaker 6: then we have to have an off day on the
- 8:43Speaker 6: sixth day and yeah, right, so there's different rules and
- 8:47Speaker 6: regulations about how you get build up to pads, and
- 8:51Speaker 6: I think they're looking to extend.
- 8:54Speaker 2: They won't.
- 8:54Speaker 5: They won't, okay, Freddy maybe feeling thanks, Freddy.
- 8:57Speaker 3: I think there's always though two It's like the two
- 8:59Speaker 3: camps of players, and Evan kind of brought up veteran players,
- 9:02Speaker 3: players with families who might not want it. But there's
- 9:05Speaker 3: also for the younger players who and you know, always
- 9:07Speaker 3: when we see these OTAs, maybe sometimes you don't see
- 9:10Speaker 3: those veterans, but you always see the guys on the bubble,
- 9:13Speaker 3: the young guys, the guys trying to make a jump.
- 9:14Speaker 3: And now what is it you buy in January and
- 9:19Speaker 3: see in June. I mean that, I don't know. That
- 9:21Speaker 3: just doesn't seem good to the game. I mean, does
- 9:23Speaker 3: it to not have them around?
- 9:24Speaker 4: Oh, like I said, they'll probably be virtual learning and
- 9:27Speaker 4: you know they'll be in touch with this guy.
- 9:29Speaker 5: But I mean just that idea.
- 9:30Speaker 3: But just to bring up, you know, Paul and I
- 9:32Speaker 3: we're putting together this thing which will be out with
- 9:34Speaker 3: Josh McDaniels. We've talked about we've got to sit down
- 9:36Speaker 3: with him, and one of the things we talked about
- 9:38Speaker 3: before we recorded was that you can't work with the
- 9:41Speaker 3: players anymore. He's already saying that, especially from a quarterback,
- 9:44Speaker 3: like I can't even talk to these guys.
- 9:46Speaker 2: They're off working.
- 9:47Speaker 3: You know, everybody's got their private quarterback coach, But doesn't
- 9:49Speaker 3: mean that they're teaching you the right things that your
- 9:51Speaker 3: coach wants you to teach. So I just think, well,
- 9:54Speaker 3: that's the word of the happy medium to develop the
- 9:56Speaker 3: game in the off season.
- 9:57Speaker 4: That's the word of caution that the owners should listen too,
- 10:00Speaker 4: is watch out because it all comes down to quality
- 10:03Speaker 4: of your product, and if the quality on the field
- 10:06Speaker 4: goes down, it will eventually hurt.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think eighteen games it's gonna go down.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 5: The more games you play, the harder it is to
- 10:15Speaker 5: get through it.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I mean, why don't we watch these spring leagues because
- 10:18Speaker 4: it's thanks compared to the NFL.
- 10:21Speaker 2: You know, the quality of play is just right.
- 10:24Speaker 6: I just wonder too, if I just don't really like
- 10:28Speaker 6: to your point, the NFL is probably the one pulling
- 10:31Speaker 6: the strings on this behind the scenes to try to
- 10:33Speaker 6: make them feel like they have a win. I just
- 10:34Speaker 6: don't see how it's a win for the players. I
- 10:37Speaker 6: also just for the owners. I think there also has
- 10:40Speaker 6: to be a little bit of well, don't we want
- 10:41Speaker 6: to keep tabs on these guys during the offseason.
- 10:44Speaker 4: So well, that doesn't mean they can't keep tabs.
- 10:46Speaker 6: But it's a little bit different when they're here, sure,
- 10:48Speaker 6: and you're seeing them in person, day in and day
- 10:51Speaker 6: out for weeks on end than it is to give
- 10:54Speaker 6: them a phone call er FaceTime and be like, hey,
- 10:56Speaker 6: what's going on?
- 10:57Speaker 5: You can put on a It is the only sport
- 10:58Speaker 5: that does that, though, what do you mean, Like they
- 11:02Speaker 5: don't ask NHL players to just hey, can you stop by.
- 11:05Speaker 5: You know, we're going to have a couple of little practices.
- 11:07Speaker 5: They won't be contact practices, but we want to you know,
- 11:10Speaker 5: install the neutral zone track, you know, and then you
- 11:13Speaker 5: can come back in a couple of months for training camp.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Football is the only sport that does that.
- 11:17Speaker 6: It's a shorter off season in the other sports, though,
- 11:20Speaker 6: by a little bit, I would think, right, you mean,
- 11:22Speaker 6: especially depending on how far you go in the playoffs obviously, Yeah, I.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Mean, but like, I mean, let's just say that the
- 11:27Speaker 5: NHL season for most ended in you know, April, you know,
- 11:31Speaker 5: the even even if you want to say the start
- 11:33Speaker 5: of May, you know, and then hockey doesn't start till October.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Like it would be like asking them to come in
- 11:39Speaker 5: and like the beginning of August just you know, just
- 11:42Speaker 5: for a little while, just for a few days, do
- 11:44Speaker 5: you think, you know? NBA and NHL, and.
- 11:46Speaker 6: Then you know, they have like they have developmental periods
- 11:50Speaker 6: for younger players, like Summer League or developmental camp for
- 11:53Speaker 6: the Bruins, which is like camps where a lot.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Of college players that are still in college. Yeah, you know,
- 11:57Speaker 5: get invited to those camps and stuff. Yeah, that would
- 12:00Speaker 5: be different, and I think you could probably do that
- 12:02Speaker 5: or some version of that in football.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think there's ways to develop, especially for
- 12:07Speaker 3: quarterbacks where it's just so important to the league, like
- 12:09Speaker 3: you know, to let that time kind of pass. I
- 12:12Speaker 3: just I wish there was a way. Maybe it doesn't
- 12:13Speaker 3: necessarily need to be here in person, but maybe you
- 12:16Speaker 3: expand the access that they're allowed to communicate with the
- 12:18Speaker 3: coaches in terms of playbook and stuff like that. So
- 12:21Speaker 3: you know, maybe they don't have to be here doing
- 12:23Speaker 3: basic workout stuff, but you're still allowed to work on
- 12:26Speaker 3: football with them because you're just losing too much time.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I mean, and there's so many young talented quarterbacks in
- 12:31Speaker 3: this league. That's the like blood. If this leage's going
- 12:33Speaker 3: to continue to be popular, they need to develop those quarterbacks.
- 12:36Speaker 3: And I'm sorry, I just don't like I'm with Evan
- 12:38Speaker 3: three months off, you know.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Maybe they'll have voluntary voluntary work right right.
- 12:42Speaker 5: Well, but I think Mike's point is a good one.
- 12:44Speaker 5: Like the ban on communication to me was odd and
- 12:48Speaker 5: that's probably what ten years old now ish. But just
- 12:53Speaker 5: the idea that you know, February rolls around and you're
- 12:57Speaker 5: into March and your quarterback can't talk to your offensive
- 13:02Speaker 5: Brady got in trouble, I know.
- 13:03Speaker 4: But they have to be hardcore because if they're not,
- 13:06Speaker 4: teams will find loopholes. And what they're trying to do is,
- 13:09Speaker 4: you know, make it an even playing field, so the
- 13:12Speaker 4: the hardcore head coaches don't take advantage of it. And
- 13:16Speaker 4: and you know, like I said, find loopholes in the rules.
- 13:20Speaker 3: They have to.
- 13:20Speaker 5: They have to be Brandy went double dipping. He got
- 13:23Speaker 5: in trouble for talking and during covid R.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's like everything that was Tampa time.
- 13:29Speaker 6: It's probably not gonna help the top of the roster
- 13:32Speaker 6: guys or like a Drake may or something like that.
- 13:34Speaker 6: But I do wonder if some of these spring football leagues,
- 13:38Speaker 6: if they would almost like loan some of the players
- 13:40Speaker 6: at the back end of the roster to these teams
- 13:43Speaker 6: in spring football so that some of these guys can
- 13:45Speaker 6: get live reps, especially if you look at something like
- 13:48Speaker 6: the offensive linemen that that could really use the in
- 13:50Speaker 6: game reps. I wonder if that is a possibility. I'm
- 13:54Speaker 6: not talking about the way the World League kind of
- 13:57Speaker 6: was designed. Yeah, it didn't really work all that well, But.
- 14:02Speaker 5: You do wonder if that's the end game for the FRED.
- 14:04Speaker 5: As Fred so aptly put it, these leaks that stink
- 14:08Speaker 5: that no one wants to watch. I wonder if Evan's.
- 14:10Speaker 6: Friend and crazy people like me and Barth would watch,
- 14:15Speaker 6: Like if the Patriots had players playing in the Spring League. No,
- 14:18Speaker 6: it's our work developing.
- 14:19Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:20Speaker 6: The example we always use was trade Nixon. Sorry trade Nixon,
- 14:23Speaker 6: but you know, players like that US degenerates would watch
- 14:26Speaker 6: that and just to see how the Patriot had.
- 14:28Speaker 4: To be careful though, because you know players are encouraged
- 14:31Speaker 4: to participate in you know, they'll have to be strict
- 14:33Speaker 4: about those rules too, because some teams might encourage a
- 14:36Speaker 4: little bit more than other teams.
- 14:38Speaker 5: You know.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's it's it's all to be determined. I'm
- 14:43Speaker 4: not worrying about it yet, but we'll see what happens.
- 14:46Speaker 4: But again, this is all in anticipation of the eighteen game.
- 14:52Speaker 3: So you think this is an early salvo in those negotiations.
- 14:54Speaker 3: I like, that's what they're kind of putting in the
- 14:56Speaker 3: in the they're getting the jump on that first deal point.
- 14:59Speaker 5: And yeah, I want to I want you and Barth
- 15:01Speaker 5: to put your heads together and figure out a way
- 15:03Speaker 5: to do this minor league thing. So because there's there's tape,
- 15:08Speaker 5: you know, like because you can't you have you can't
- 15:10Speaker 5: have a whole team worth you know, like like like
- 15:13Speaker 5: in baseball, you know, teams have minor leagues that they're
- 15:16Speaker 5: they're their own players. You can't have enough of those
- 15:19Speaker 5: kinds of players to have a whole team. But then
- 15:21Speaker 5: you're saying, like if it's like Trey Nixon, is he
- 15:24Speaker 5: running what offense. Is he running?
- 15:25Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, I would say that it's maybe each
- 15:29Speaker 6: team in the XFL gets a certain amount of NFL players.
- 15:34Speaker 6: They're able to sign the contracts on loan like they
- 15:37Speaker 6: do in European soccer, Like you're loaning the player out
- 15:40Speaker 6: to them. There's probably some sort of like injury waiver involved.
- 15:44Speaker 6: You know, if they get hurt, then the XFL team
- 15:46Speaker 6: has to foot the bill for the you know, the
- 15:47Speaker 6: surgery or you know, whatever the case may be with that.
- 15:50Speaker 6: But we're not talking about star players that if somebody
- 15:53Speaker 6: players that need the rest, right it's you know, this
- 15:55Speaker 6: catastrophic thing for the Patriots. We're talking about exactly, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 6: young guys that could you know, Kishan Bouti right, like
- 16:03Speaker 6: just give him the reps like we see if you
- 16:06Speaker 6: know he can develop. Maybe it's the different offense, but
- 16:08Speaker 6: at least the football skills or he's working on year
- 16:12Speaker 6: round or in the spring, and you know, technique is technique.
- 16:15Speaker 5: There's got to be a way to do that.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I wonder too if there might be a way to
- 16:18Speaker 3: incentivize those players and maybe maybe you say they're not
- 16:21Speaker 3: even tied to the Patriots anymore, like you know, like yes,
- 16:25Speaker 3: you have your contract is still you know, with the Patriots.
- 16:27Speaker 3: But let's say at the end of the season you're
- 16:30Speaker 3: part of a pool where if you have a great
- 16:31Speaker 3: year that maybe you know what I mean, maybe there's
- 16:33Speaker 3: a way to get them to another team, you know,
- 16:35Speaker 3: like like I don't know, I'm just trying to think
- 16:37Speaker 3: of ways that that because you mentioned these low end receivers.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I mean, you know how many years did Trade Nixon
- 16:42Speaker 3: go without even playing that's my game, you know, and
- 16:45Speaker 3: these guys like that's what they need. They just need
- 16:47Speaker 3: and who knows some of them and actually getting game
- 16:50Speaker 3: action might excel and might all of a sudden show
- 16:53Speaker 3: something that you know that then you want them to
- 16:56Speaker 3: feel like if you do really well, it's not just
- 16:58Speaker 3: like you have to go back to your team and
- 17:00Speaker 3: you know, maybe maybe another team can work something out
- 17:02Speaker 3: that yeah too, I.
- 17:03Speaker 6: Think the hope would be that it showcases them to
- 17:06Speaker 6: other teams. Maybe there's trades or something like that involved.
- 17:09Speaker 6: But also, you come in at a higher point than
- 17:11Speaker 6: what you left in the winter, right, So you leave
- 17:15Speaker 6: in February and then you develop your skills in the XFL.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Maybe you come to training camp you're a different player
- 17:20Speaker 6: you have, you know, you have a confidence you're a
- 17:21Speaker 6: better player at what you do. I think for lineman, quarterbacks,
- 17:25Speaker 6: like I think all those positions would really benefit from
- 17:28Speaker 6: something like this. Like if you know, it doesn't work
- 17:31Speaker 6: for rookies because they just came off their college season
- 17:33Speaker 6: and they have to do the combine and stuff like that.
- 17:35Speaker 6: But let's say next offseason, Joe Milton gets to play
- 17:38Speaker 6: in the XFL. Yeah, and he just gets to start
- 17:41Speaker 6: games in the XFL and play a ten game season,
- 17:44Speaker 6: and now you don't have OTAs and stuff like that
- 17:46Speaker 6: that he's missing. So you have this this gap in
- 17:49Speaker 6: the NFL schedule anyways, and maybe the XFL is you know,
- 17:53Speaker 6: moves up a little bit just to accommodate that.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Now, on the con side, for existing players in the NFL,
- 17:58Speaker 4: if they did do this, if I'm the existing team,
- 18:01Speaker 4: I'm the who's coaching him, How are they coaching him?
- 18:04Speaker 2: What are they telling him? You know? Like I'm right.
- 18:08Speaker 5: So that's that's what I was talking about in terms
- 18:10Speaker 5: of systems. Now, if you you know, and I know
- 18:12Speaker 5: that I'm probably the only one at the table that
- 18:14Speaker 5: has actually watched any of the spring stuff. Probably they're
- 18:17Speaker 5: all for the most part, x NFL coaches, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 5: like Wade Phillips coaches a team. Yeah, you know, I
- 18:24Speaker 5: think Greg Williams is involved with one of the teams.
- 18:27Speaker 5: So they're all guys that quote unquote know what they're doing.
- 18:31Speaker 5: For lack of a better term. It's not like, you know,
- 18:33Speaker 5: you got some renegade high school coach that's never punting
- 18:36Speaker 5: and you know, it's not really anything that he can translate.
- 18:40Speaker 5: But I do think there's a way. I think Evan's right.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I think there's a way of structuring it so every
- 18:47Speaker 5: team can get ten or twelve players playing in the spring,
- 18:52Speaker 5: and yeah they're they're NFL players, but they're really not.
- 18:56Speaker 5: You know, they're therefore their rookie in first year players
- 19:00Speaker 5: who've never played on rosters, you know, for any discernible
- 19:04Speaker 5: length of time. That's how you get them some experience.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Cynthia says, we watch spring football, or as I call it,
- 19:10Speaker 4: minor league football for two reasons. A Because we're going
- 19:14Speaker 4: through football with draw and b. Every now and then
- 19:17Speaker 4: we see magic that needs to come to the league,
- 19:19Speaker 4: such as Jake Bates, so.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Jake bits a kicker match second that has made like
- 19:24Speaker 6: four or five sixty yard field goals, so he's.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Like eleven for fourteen, but like, would you say four? Yeah,
- 19:31Speaker 5: I think you've got like three or four or four
- 19:32Speaker 5: or five something like that.
- 19:33Speaker 4: Do you think that I don't have to watch I
- 19:36Speaker 4: can hear about it and look at on the highlight.
- 19:38Speaker 6: But now sincerity, that guy should be invited to a
- 19:40Speaker 6: training camp by an NFL team.
- 19:42Speaker 5: This NFL team, So he sounds like he's going to
- 19:45Speaker 5: be based on something I read over the weekend. But
- 19:47Speaker 5: they and we were right when we talked about it.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Teams are not allowed to contact them until the season's over.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, do you think they're in this a little maybe
- 19:54Speaker 3: outside the box, But do you think ever in a
- 19:56Speaker 3: league like this you could institute standard playbooks for every
- 20:00Speaker 3: team and you know.
- 20:01Speaker 5: It just it takes that whole like football teague in
- 20:04Speaker 5: this minor league.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, like I might where football because football is the
- 20:07Speaker 3: only sport, like you know, for like me going to
- 20:09Speaker 3: playing for another hockey coach not a big deal, like
- 20:11Speaker 3: oh he's got a different for it, like it's not
- 20:12Speaker 3: going to really screw up, but football, Like, well, I
- 20:15Speaker 3: don't know what you're gonna have to learn the playbook?
- 20:16Speaker 3: Like I just wonder if there would ever be a
- 20:18Speaker 3: way to level the playing ground where it's like, look,
- 20:20Speaker 3: everybody's going to basically I mean they kind of do
- 20:22Speaker 3: it at the Senior Bowl, where I mean, I know
- 20:23Speaker 3: that's extremely restricted, but.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Make every team run the West Coast offense.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and and I mean but I mean
- 20:29Speaker 3: also in line with developing offensive linemen who haven't. I mean,
- 20:33Speaker 3: that's something that the league is hurting for right now.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I mean you look at some of the supply and
- 20:37Speaker 3: the demand and based on what college football is producing
- 20:40Speaker 3: great receivers right like, I mean that's that they're coming
- 20:42Speaker 3: to the league in droves. But it's a free for
- 20:45Speaker 3: all for trying to get a left tackle. And now
- 20:46Speaker 3: you're like drafting guys in the third round that are
- 20:49Speaker 3: never even played left tackle. But you're like crossing your fingers, like,
- 20:51Speaker 3: I just wonder how you could start to sort out
- 20:53Speaker 3: something be.
- 20:54Speaker 5: Able to do it. I agree with you guys one
- 20:56Speaker 5: hundred percent. I mean, even you know basketball, not everybody
- 21:02Speaker 5: you know in the G League is running the same offense.
- 21:06Speaker 5: You know, teams have systems, teams run plays and whatnot.
- 21:09Speaker 5: Maybe it's not as the whole NFL but they do
- 21:14Speaker 5: have to come to the NFL, to the n b
- 21:16Speaker 5: A and you come from the main team and you
- 21:18Speaker 5: I don't think the main team is doing exactly what
- 21:20Speaker 5: the Celtics are doing.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Mhm.
- 21:22Speaker 5: And you know, so it can be done. I mean,
- 21:26Speaker 5: you just play five out in the main clause.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Speaking of the Celtics, congratulations making the what they won. Yeah,
- 21:36Speaker 4: making it to the finals, assuming it's going to be
- 21:39Speaker 4: against Dallas, but of course that's not done yet.
- 21:41Speaker 2: But no team has ever come from three to zero.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So it's going to be the Dallas Mavericks.
- 21:45Speaker 4: And the Celtics, and I think that's gonna be fun
- 21:48Speaker 4: to watch.
- 21:48Speaker 2: I mean, Luka.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Doncik is I think the best player in Basketball's.
- 21:55Speaker 2: My opinion is.
- 21:58Speaker 3: You don't love the way more in that game.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 22:02Speaker 5: I like Luca don Now he's he's a top five player.
- 22:05Speaker 2: He's fat, he can shoot, he can dribble, he can
- 22:08Speaker 2: pass great basketball.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, I can't play defense, but he's.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Great now, He's he's a he would be the best
- 22:15Speaker 6: player in the series. As much as I that kills
- 22:18Speaker 6: me to say that, you.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Know what, I would can we this Celtics Celtics? Okay,
- 22:25Speaker 5: his ability to close, I think separates him from from
- 22:29Speaker 5: the Celtics two stars. They did just win three games. No, no, no, no,
- 22:33Speaker 5: But but I'm just I'm not like that, not the
- 22:36Speaker 5: way Luca does. No, he stepped back threes in your face. Yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 5: as time expires. Yeah, but I think, I think if
- 22:42Speaker 5: you have a three to end the game and it
- 22:44Speaker 5: clinks and we need Drew Holliday to get the rebound
- 22:46Speaker 5: that Marcus Smart could never get.
- 22:48Speaker 4: But this whole thing, you know, the Patriots, at the Patriots,
- 22:50Speaker 4: the Celtics, you know, yeah they won four, but you
- 22:53Speaker 4: know the Pacers gave away some of those games. Yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 4: they made a lot of mistakes. But I'll tell you
- 22:58Speaker 4: the Patriot, he's on a.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Whole entirely different. You know how I always complained about
- 23:02Speaker 5: my algorithm. Friends, is the diametric opposite of Maya.
- 23:06Speaker 2: The Pacers.
- 23:06Speaker 4: The national media has been the way the Pacers shot,
- 23:09Speaker 4: Like I agree with Jade, I thought Door was brown.
- 23:14Speaker 2: They all became Michael Jordan.
- 23:16Speaker 4: They couldn't miss, you know, like it was uncanny the
- 23:19Speaker 4: way they shot. And yes, they came into the game,
- 23:22Speaker 4: into the series as one of the best offensive you know,
- 23:25Speaker 4: uh teams in the league and they certainly showed that.
- 23:28Speaker 4: But like they, you know, the Patriots, I keep saying Patriots.
- 23:33Speaker 2: The Celtics had to keep up with them offensively, you know,
- 23:36Speaker 2: because they yeah, well they but even the guys that
- 23:39Speaker 2: came in, everybody shot, well it was incredible, I know.
- 23:43Speaker 5: But they couldn't score like they They score one twenty
- 23:45Speaker 5: not one oh two. Yeah, there's a big difference.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Yeah, but I give the Celts a lot of credit.
- 23:49Speaker 4: I think the Celtics can play with any team, any style.
- 23:52Speaker 4: That's I think their strength. You know, they can play
- 23:55Speaker 4: run and done, they can slow it up. I think
- 23:58Speaker 4: that's the strength of the Celtics is they've got a
- 24:00Speaker 4: deep bench and they can play all different styles.
- 24:03Speaker 5: They don't have a deep bench, they don't have no bench.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Well that's honestly been the biggest problem.
- 24:08Speaker 5: For especially with pusingis out. Yeah, I'm Sam House going
- 24:12Speaker 5: to be back in this game right now, So that
- 24:15Speaker 5: would make you six and a half sep six.
- 24:17Speaker 2: What I like.
- 24:18Speaker 5: I kind of like Pritchard. I call him Prichard. I
- 24:20Speaker 5: think Houser can't play.
- 24:22Speaker 6: I don't know how you count Pritchard. I don't know
- 24:23Speaker 6: how you played Pritchard against Dallas.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Well, well that's I mean, yeah, I'm not you know,
- 24:28Speaker 5: James Nate Smith, I'm not breaking down the matchup, but
- 24:30Speaker 5: I in the playoffs, they've you know, with Puzingas out,
- 24:34Speaker 5: they've only had six players that have given them any
- 24:36Speaker 5: kind of contribution.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Yeah, well, because Howser can and that.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Then they're forced to have hors in the regulars.
- 24:43Speaker 6: He's shot bad for the whole playoffs. Playoffs, Yeah, and
- 24:46Speaker 6: he's thrown up.
- 24:46Speaker 5: This is not close. This is real basketball now. Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 5: he ain't going twelve for horfor Fish Well yeah, yeah,
- 24:53Speaker 5: Horford's five horfor it's the starter.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no, Pzingis is the start.
- 24:56Speaker 5: So he hasn't played.
- 24:58Speaker 2: I said, I'm assuming he's going.
- 25:00Speaker 5: So that's a big assumption.
- 25:02Speaker 6: And if he doesn't, if he plays, then they'll have
- 25:04Speaker 6: they'll have Horford off the bench.
- 25:06Speaker 5: Right, so you have six deep.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I consider Pritchard on the guy that comes off the bench.
- 25:13Speaker 5: He is a guy who comes off the bench. That is,
- 25:16Speaker 5: he plays about eight minutes a game.
- 25:18Speaker 6: No, he can play well, but you know, when you
- 25:19Speaker 6: get into this time of year, not to go all
- 25:21Speaker 6: James Naismith on you, but when you get to this
- 25:25Speaker 6: time of year, it's all about matchups. It's same as football, right,
- 25:27Speaker 6: It's all about matchups. And every team in the NBA
- 25:31Speaker 6: now pick and rolls and they switch the defender onto
- 25:34Speaker 6: their main guy that they want to be on. There,
- 25:36Speaker 6: Rudy Gobert against Luca Uh, you know, Jason Tatum against
- 25:39Speaker 6: Miles Turner, Like they pick on who's the guy that
- 25:41Speaker 6: we want isolate you on. If you put Pritcher on
- 25:44Speaker 6: the court against Dallas, they're going to give the ball
- 25:46Speaker 6: to Luca. They're gonna switch Pritchard onto Luca, and Luca
- 25:49Speaker 6: is gonna destroy him.
- 25:50Speaker 5: And that's what they call that matchups.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Heard that before.
- 25:53Speaker 6: There's like some there's some basketball terms for it. You know,
- 25:56Speaker 6: it's like a corner like you know, and then in
- 25:58Speaker 6: football that you know that you have the advantage against
- 26:01Speaker 6: this corner and you just go after him and go.
- 26:02Speaker 3: After him, go out, Well you get grunk on a linebacker?
- 26:05Speaker 6: Sure, something like that, same thing, yeah, kJ right, But
- 26:08Speaker 6: I the Celtics right now, their bench against Indiana was unplayable,
- 26:13Speaker 6: and that that is a problem they they they were unplayable.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Now when you get to the finals, you know, guys
- 26:18Speaker 6: playing forty five minutes a game, you know Jason Tatum
- 26:21Speaker 6: doesn't come out, okay, fine, you know you're at the
- 26:22Speaker 6: finals at this point, like you empty the tank like whatever,
- 26:26Speaker 6: and they've had an easy road so technically they should
- 26:29Speaker 6: still have some gas in the tank.
- 26:30Speaker 5: But I don't worry about them. Like like Holiday Brown, Tatum,
- 26:34Speaker 5: d White, they can play forty plus minutes, no concerns.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Horford can't and he's been forced to. And even if
- 26:42Speaker 5: Pauzingis comes back, he's not going to give you much
- 26:44Speaker 5: more than twenty minutes, I think if he plays.
- 26:46Speaker 6: But if he plays twenty five minutes in a game
- 26:48Speaker 6: and you split those minutes between Horford and Brazil.
- 26:51Speaker 5: I feel much better about everything if if that could happen,
- 26:54Speaker 5: if they could play twenty five minutes each. Right now,
- 26:57Speaker 5: Horford is giving you one good game out of every five,
- 26:59Speaker 5: and it's not his fault. He can't play forty minutes
- 27:02Speaker 5: a game, yes, and that's what he's been asked to do.
- 27:04Speaker 5: He was unbelievable Saturday night making making seven threes in
- 27:08Speaker 5: forty minutes. Last night he was invisible for forty minutes.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Do you feel like the Celtics team is as an
- 27:13Speaker 3: independent observer, like it just feels like so much of
- 27:16Speaker 3: the Celtics talk points out all their flaws, like I
- 27:19Speaker 3: so much like them, Like this team's in the finals.
- 27:21Speaker 5: They just want to start after the game. And I thought,
- 27:24Speaker 5: I mean, it's very I thought Dallas shouldn't show up
- 27:27Speaker 5: for the finals based.
- 27:27Speaker 6: On it's gotten very similar to like the Prime Patriots,
- 27:31Speaker 6: where all you're looking for is reasons why they won't
- 27:34Speaker 6: win because they are the best team, so they should
- 27:37Speaker 6: win and we can sit here, we can talk about
- 27:40Speaker 6: how great Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown are, but the
- 27:42Speaker 6: bottom line is is that why won't they win? Is
- 27:45Speaker 6: more interesting and it stinks, but that you know, when
- 27:48Speaker 6: you're doing radio, it's think.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Just now, that's answer.
- 27:52Speaker 5: The best team.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I don't think this.
- 27:53Speaker 6: They should They should win the finals. Not only should
- 27:57Speaker 6: they they should beat Dallas in five games, like this
- 28:00Speaker 6: should not be a close series against Mike.
- 28:03Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'll help.
- 28:04Speaker 3: You because I know you don't try to put it
- 28:05Speaker 3: all together.
- 28:07Speaker 5: Think of some of the Tomato Can games. Yeah, sure, no,
- 28:10Speaker 5: think of Brocossweiler Texans. Think of winning that game on
- 28:15Speaker 5: a last second.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Field goal against them at work, but against.
- 28:18Speaker 5: That's what they did three times in this series, like
- 28:22Speaker 5: that's why you know and listen, I don't think there's
- 28:24Speaker 5: any doubt I am as fully confident as and I don't.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Fred will tell you I don't get like that all
- 28:30Speaker 5: that often, where I just don't think there's any chance
- 28:32Speaker 5: that the Boston team's gonna lose. I always think there's
- 28:35Speaker 5: a chance they're gonna lose. I think there's so much
- 28:37Speaker 5: better than everybody else. I think they kind of fooled
- 28:39Speaker 5: around a little bit in the last two games without Haliburton,
- 28:41Speaker 5: and they kind of knew we'll just we'll keep it close.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Maybe they they did a little too much Saturday night
- 28:48Speaker 5: last night. I don't think was ever in question.
- 28:49Speaker 2: No, but I go back to I give the Pacers
- 28:52Speaker 2: credit for their offensive prowess.
- 28:54Speaker 5: I mean, no, I know, but I don't think the
- 28:56Speaker 5: Celtics played that well in the last two games. But
- 28:59Speaker 5: there's so much better than the Pacers. They stayed coman.
- 29:01Speaker 5: This is a team that was a sixth seed. Friend, yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 5: and then they take away their best player, and Matthermins
- 29:06Speaker 5: not a bad player either, he's been out for a while.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Like Pacers are good. That's a team that's a team
- 29:11Speaker 5: that the Celtics probably should be in four games and
- 29:14Speaker 5: they did handle it and they did yeah, and they
- 29:16Speaker 5: be close games.
- 29:17Speaker 2: But when you're shooting like that, you're gonna stay with
- 29:20Speaker 2: any team.
- 29:21Speaker 5: So why are you shooting like that? Well because of
- 29:23Speaker 5: the coach. And why didn't they shoot like that in
- 29:25Speaker 5: the last ten minutes of the games? Well, they were
- 29:27Speaker 5: turning it over because the Celtics locked it down. If
- 29:30Speaker 5: they played like that for forty eight minutes, the games
- 29:31Speaker 5: would have been like Game two.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I think they choked a little bit.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the I think the Celtics. I give
- 29:38Speaker 5: the Celtics more credit than you. I think the Celtics
- 29:40Speaker 5: locked it down in the last ten minutes of the
- 29:43Speaker 5: last two games, especially Game three.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Is there still something though, Celtics superfan? Is there still
- 29:49Speaker 3: something scaresy about this team?
- 29:50Speaker 5: That's what's under the supervan?
- 29:52Speaker 3: Well, that's what's under the with all these discussions that
- 29:54Speaker 3: there always seems with these discussions, something under the service
- 29:58Speaker 3: that if it doesn't go right there in trouble, like
- 30:01Speaker 3: it's just like this this is something under the surface.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Always that seems like there's one way that there's.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Even even my one big fear is like I don't
- 30:08Speaker 5: think there was good when it's close and late. And
- 30:10Speaker 5: then they just won two games close and late in
- 30:12Speaker 5: three games. Yeah, the first one was given to him.
- 30:15Speaker 5: These two games they took.
- 30:16Speaker 6: I don't I This is the first time since the
- 30:19Speaker 6: oait KG Celtics where I really felt like they they
- 30:23Speaker 6: have no fatal flaws. They really don't, because they they can,
- 30:29Speaker 6: like to Fred's point, they can play either way. You know,
- 30:32Speaker 6: the most important thing I think is they have another
- 30:35Speaker 6: level defensively that I think that they just haven't felt
- 30:38Speaker 6: like they need to get to.
- 30:39Speaker 5: I agree because these other.
- 30:40Speaker 6: Teams stink that they've played and they are missing you know,
- 30:43Speaker 6: Donovan Mitchell, they're missing Halliburton, so they don't need to
- 30:45Speaker 6: necessarily turn up the defensive intensity to ten for.
- 30:49Speaker 5: The whole game.
- 30:50Speaker 6: You know, they match up really well against Dallas because Luca,
- 30:53Speaker 6: as good as he is, if you put Jalen Brown
- 30:55Speaker 6: on Luca, Jalen Brown's much more athletic, He's taller, he's long,
- 31:00Speaker 6: he can disrupt him. They have two guards that can
- 31:02Speaker 6: guard Kyrie and can switch off to all NBA defense guards.
- 31:06Speaker 6: You know, they match up really well against Dallas on paper,
- 31:09Speaker 6: like all the trends and stuff like that tell you
- 31:11Speaker 6: the Celtics should cakewalk Dallas. The only thing that tells
- 31:14Speaker 6: you that they won't is that Luca is the best
- 31:16Speaker 6: player in the series.
- 31:17Speaker 5: In the league league.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Last time the Celtics played, they won twenty eight points. Yeah,
- 31:22Speaker 4: but was it a game that it was Dallas cared about.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Well, yeah, there were games, but it was a little
- 31:29Speaker 5: bit deceptive. They really blew their doors off, like late
- 31:32Speaker 5: in the third quarter into the fourth quarter. It wasn't
- 31:35Speaker 5: like that, and all of a sudden it just was
- 31:36Speaker 5: an avalanche. But everything you haven't said is right. They
- 31:39Speaker 5: have I I'll give you Luka and Kyrie like just individually,
- 31:45Speaker 5: like the next five players are Celtics. Yeah, especially if
- 31:48Speaker 5: Porzingis is back that Dallas. That's with pussing.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Dallas made some moves at the trade deadline and kind
- 31:55Speaker 6: of reconfigured the supporting cast around Luca and Kyrie, and
- 31:59Speaker 6: they're there have been great ever since. I think there's
- 32:01Speaker 6: sixteen and four post trade deadline in the regular season
- 32:04Speaker 6: and then obviously they've been great in the playoffs. So
- 32:07Speaker 6: they they redid their team around the two stars.
- 32:10Speaker 5: PJ.
- 32:10Speaker 6: Washington's kind of like their their three and d Guy
- 32:13Speaker 6: on the wing. You know, he's a really good player
- 32:15Speaker 6: for what the role player.
- 32:17Speaker 5: Lively guy has been pretty now he got hurt, can
- 32:21Speaker 5: cut it.
- 32:21Speaker 6: I mean it's ten days off, so no, I mean
- 32:23Speaker 6: there's a long time off, so he'll be fine.
- 32:25Speaker 4: Jalen Brown a little sneaky, dirty little Danny Aingel not
- 32:28Speaker 4: that sneaky.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he's always grabbing people's jerseys and yeah,
- 32:32Speaker 2: I mean.
- 32:33Speaker 5: It's great when you get away with it, right. I
- 32:35Speaker 5: loved what he said after the game.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I loved it after this game.
- 32:38Speaker 5: I didn't hear what he yeah. I mean, so, first
- 32:41Speaker 5: of all, the fact that.
- 32:42Speaker 6: He didn't make an All NBA team is ridiculous.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Who do you take off?
- 32:47Speaker 6: There is multiple guys like Haliburton played half a good year, okay,
- 32:50Speaker 6: and then he got hurt.
- 32:51Speaker 5: He pulled his hamstring, same injury. What did he say
- 32:53Speaker 5: about being dirty? Oh no, nothing about that.
- 32:55Speaker 6: He did tell Miles Turner to go home though, which
- 32:58Speaker 6: was great, But he just basically said that he was
- 33:01Speaker 6: shocked when he won m VP of the series, and
- 33:04Speaker 6: his face was like you could tell that he was shocked,
- 33:06Speaker 6: and he said, you know, I don't ever win any
- 33:08Speaker 6: individual awards. So when they called my name, I didn't
- 33:11Speaker 6: think that it was you know, I was just surprised
- 33:14Speaker 6: and I couldn't agree with him.
- 33:15Speaker 5: More so, I thought Drew Holliday was the MVP personally,
- 33:19Speaker 5: but he had some he had some big plays and
- 33:21Speaker 5: certainly won that one game with the shot didn't get
- 33:23Speaker 5: any but I think consistently over the course of the
- 33:26Speaker 5: four games, I couldn't argue with Brown getting m v P.
- 33:30Speaker 2: You know it was between those two well.
- 33:32Speaker 5: I mean those actually, yeah, it was in Tatum with
- 33:36Speaker 5: the only two that would be it was actually Tatum.
- 33:38Speaker 5: I think. You know, if you're going to be like
- 33:40Speaker 5: Evan and actually watched the games, yeah, you'd realize that
- 33:43Speaker 5: two of the games they won because of Holiday.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 6: I thought that Drew Holliday made the most like clutch plays, Yes,
- 33:51Speaker 6: but in terms of the stats, it was obviously going
- 33:54Speaker 6: to be one of the j's. I mean they're both
- 33:56Speaker 6: They averaged thirty points a game.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Like one it was five.
- 34:00Speaker 6: I know for the vote, I have a surprise that
- 34:02Speaker 6: nobody voted for Drew Halid.
- 34:03Speaker 5: I was to I didn't think he had any chance
- 34:06Speaker 5: to get it, and serious I didn't think he had
- 34:08Speaker 5: any sniff. But I thought someone would be cerebral and
- 34:10Speaker 5: say I'm going to vote for Drew Hollid. Yeah, no
- 34:13Speaker 5: one did.
- 34:14Speaker 4: But you know it's it's whenever anybody but the Jays
- 34:18Speaker 4: do something, it's like, oh my god, look at Drew Holliday.
- 34:20Speaker 2: You know, he's the X factor.
- 34:22Speaker 5: You know, that's a good way to describe him, though,
- 34:25Speaker 5: or white cat.
- 34:27Speaker 2: You know the things that he does. He does the
- 34:29Speaker 2: little things that the other guys.
- 34:31Speaker 5: People used to tell me there was someone else that did.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Oh your favorite Marcus Smartt.
- 34:35Speaker 6: I cannot tell you plays how much different this team
- 34:38Speaker 6: is without Marcus Martin a good way. It's not even
- 34:42Speaker 6: funny how much better they are without him.
- 34:44Speaker 5: How did he have Yeah, he got hurt. It's it's
- 34:48Speaker 5: not because he's a bad player. Oh he's fine. It's
- 34:50Speaker 5: like I've said that hillion times. People just treated him
- 34:53Speaker 5: the way what for what he is, which is a
- 34:56Speaker 5: solid NBA role player, then I think it will be
- 34:59Speaker 5: fine around here. They made him into a folk hero.
- 35:02Speaker 6: But also including himself, that's well, that was the bigger problem.
- 35:05Speaker 6: Like I everybody else's opinion is whatever. Yeah, but like
- 35:08Speaker 6: he thought he was the alpha amongst the Jalen Brown
- 35:11Speaker 6: and Jason Tatum as they're going to All Star Games
- 35:14Speaker 6: and all NBA teams and stuff like that.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Max Contract, I can't really recall holiday like isoing, you
- 35:22Speaker 5: know and jacking up a step back three in the
- 35:24Speaker 5: last minute of one of these games. Now he had
- 35:27Speaker 5: plays when he needs to make, yeah, like steals in
- 35:29Speaker 5: in layups and you know, the you know plays that
- 35:31Speaker 5: you have to get a back to a three point
- 35:33Speaker 5: playing on Saturday night, that was the biggest play of
- 35:35Speaker 5: the game. But I'm talking about I just remember he
- 35:38Speaker 5: remember one used to give it this, Yeah, give me
- 35:41Speaker 5: the ball, give me the ball. It's terrible.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I got it.
- 35:43Speaker 5: I got this, I got this. No, you don't. You
- 35:45Speaker 5: never make important shots. You don't got this. Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Drew Holliday and Derek White both know their roles, they
- 35:51Speaker 6: know theirs in the hierarchy, and they're so good at
- 35:54Speaker 6: what they do. And Marcus Smart it was late in
- 35:57Speaker 6: those types of games, he would try to take over. Yeah,
- 36:00Speaker 6: and he would he would push the j's out of
- 36:01Speaker 6: the way and say this is you know. That was
- 36:03Speaker 6: why everybody would.
- 36:04Speaker 5: Take a rocket shot at the coach after the game.
- 36:06Speaker 6: That's why everybody would get so frustrated with Tatum because
- 36:08Speaker 6: everybody would want Tatum to go take the ball from
- 36:10Speaker 6: Marcus mart and be like, no, this is this is
- 36:12Speaker 6: my ball now, like get out of the way, and
- 36:14Speaker 6: he just didn't do.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Speaking of Tatum amazing talent, I just wish the Celtics would,
- 36:21Speaker 4: you know, run more plays.
- 36:23Speaker 2: For him, like off screens and stuff.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Like a lot of his three pointers, they're like, all right,
- 36:28Speaker 4: I'm shooting this one no matter what. So he'll dribble, dribble, dribble,
- 36:32Speaker 4: you know, and then you know eventually he can't go in,
- 36:35Speaker 4: so he'll take a step back take a three pointer.
- 36:37Speaker 4: But I love them to work some plays with him
- 36:40Speaker 4: where he comes off screens and gets open that way.
- 36:43Speaker 2: To shoot, you know, set plays. I don't think they
- 36:45Speaker 2: do enough of that with him.
- 36:46Speaker 6: They're more a conceptual play team than like a playbook team.
- 36:51Speaker 5: I know, but like most teams like that, Fred your complaint.
- 36:54Speaker 5: That's like when Evan said, like the national media sometimes
- 36:58Speaker 5: is hard on the Celtics. That's their people say their
- 37:02Speaker 5: offense is water.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Everything I know Celtics goes back to Larry Bird and
- 37:06Speaker 4: Larry Bird like they would run That's awesome. I mean
- 37:09Speaker 4: Larry Bird could do what Tatum does. You know, he'd
- 37:12Speaker 4: work a guy and then you know, fall back and
- 37:14Speaker 4: hit a three. But a lot of the Celtics would
- 37:17Speaker 4: run plays for Larry where he'd come off a screen
- 37:20Speaker 4: and get that wide open three.
- 37:22Speaker 2: You know. But they they worked him, they worked the
- 37:25Speaker 2: team to get him open, and they should do the
- 37:27Speaker 2: same for Tatum.
- 37:28Speaker 6: They're different players though, Like Larry Bird is a much
- 37:30Speaker 6: better shooter than Tatum is.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I don't know about that.
- 37:33Speaker 6: Yeah, no, Tatum, Tatum like a three point shooter is
- 37:35Speaker 6: just okay.
- 37:36Speaker 5: If they let people take like fifteen threes a game
- 37:40Speaker 5: when Bird played, that's true, Yeah, a whole different game.
- 37:44Speaker 4: It is a different game. Threes are so much more,
- 37:47Speaker 4: you know, part of the game plan now. But I'm
- 37:50Speaker 4: just saying, it'd be nice to just run some plays
- 37:52Speaker 4: for Tatum, you know.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Yeah, they play. Nice to run some place, period, that's
- 37:57Speaker 5: the that's what they're looking for. I love it.
- 38:00Speaker 6: They play five out so they have all five guys
- 38:02Speaker 6: are on the three point line, I know, and then
- 38:04Speaker 6: they played they run the high picking rolls for Tatum,
- 38:06Speaker 6: but he's the ball handler, right, so they don't they
- 38:09Speaker 6: don't run him off of screens very because he's not
- 38:10Speaker 6: like Ray Allen, Like, you're not going to just run
- 38:12Speaker 6: him through screens and then have him pull up for
- 38:14Speaker 6: three like a spot up jump shot.
- 38:16Speaker 2: You know.
- 38:16Speaker 6: So he he runs high pick and roll with Al
- 38:18Speaker 6: Horford a lot, he'll run it with porzingis, which the
- 38:20Speaker 6: porzingis Tatum high pick and roll is the most efficient
- 38:23Speaker 6: play in basketball.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I do like Fred's point, though, I like Tatum as
- 38:28Speaker 5: more of a catch and shoot three guy than the
- 38:30Speaker 5: step back three.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Guy he likes, he likes.
- 38:32Speaker 5: He's you know, like the one that Luca hit to
- 38:34Speaker 5: win the game. I don't know if you saw that.
- 38:36Speaker 5: It was Friday night. It gets go Beart. I don't
- 38:39Speaker 5: like his percentages on those.
- 38:40Speaker 8: Now.
- 38:42Speaker 5: To me, the key to that, to that play was
- 38:44Speaker 5: what Luca did to go bear to get. I mean
- 38:47Speaker 5: that was as wide open a three as you can
- 38:49Speaker 5: get because he toyed with him.
- 38:51Speaker 6: Yeah, matchup Hunter, all right, foods here.
- 38:54Speaker 2: As you can see, it's kind of a wide open.
- 38:56Speaker 5: We'll we'll end the Celtics talk there, but yes, we
- 38:58Speaker 5: think it's a I think it's more of a core
- 39:00Speaker 5: nation at this point.
- 39:00Speaker 2: We'll talk about whatever people want to talk about. Eight
- 39:03Speaker 2: five to five PATS five hundred Web radio at Patres

- 40:08Speaker 10: hoy Or Brian thanks for coming by man.
- 40:09Speaker 8: Thanks appreciate you on guys.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we asked this of everybody.
- 40:12Speaker 10: So I think people who are football fans, Patriot fans know,
- 40:17Speaker 10: is Brian gonna play? Is Brian not gonna play? What's
- 40:19Speaker 10: what's going on with Brian Hoyr these days?
- 40:20Speaker 2: No, I don't know.
- 40:21Speaker 11: I think it would take a great opportunity to come
- 40:23Speaker 11: along for me to do that. Obviously, I was in
- 40:25Speaker 11: Las Vegas last year. I know I can still play
- 40:27Speaker 11: because I beat the Patriots last year, one of the
- 40:30Speaker 11: most tooche.
- 40:30Speaker 5: One of the most.
- 40:31Speaker 11: It's on my list, Brian my sweet moments of my career.
- 40:34Speaker 11: So we'll talk about that later. But you know, so
- 40:36Speaker 11: I know I can still physically do it. But at
- 40:39Speaker 11: thirty eight years old, my kids are getting older. You know,
- 40:41Speaker 11: I think it would take a really great opportunity for me,
- 40:44Speaker 11: you know, to come along, for me to to kind
- 40:47Speaker 11: of look and see. But so I know I can
- 40:48Speaker 11: still do it. Body feels relatively healthy and you know,
- 40:53Speaker 11: so we'll see. It's it's always open. People always say,
- 40:56Speaker 11: you know, you if someone's offering you an opportunity to
- 40:59Speaker 11: play and you feel like you could do it, you know,
- 41:01Speaker 11: you know, I remember a former teammate saying, play till
- 41:04Speaker 11: they tell you you can't.
- 41:05Speaker 8: So definitely capable of it. It's just got to be
- 41:08Speaker 8: I think, the right opportunity at this point.
- 41:10Speaker 10: You know, idiots like us sit there and oh, you know,
- 41:13Speaker 10: he can play, or it's time to go, and everything
- 41:15Speaker 10: like that. But I don't think the lay people realize
- 41:18Speaker 10: what's it like to make that decision as a family. Yeah,
- 41:21Speaker 10: when you have a wife who's supported you cross country trips,
- 41:26Speaker 10: taking kids back and forth, at some point in time,
- 41:30Speaker 10: her decision or her opinion, while always valued, you got
- 41:34Speaker 10: to really listen to that's got to be hard, like
- 41:36Speaker 10: from a as a family standpoint, like at what point
- 41:39Speaker 10: time do I need to devote my time to them?
- 41:41Speaker 5: Right?
- 41:41Speaker 8: And that's a huge part of the decision making.
- 41:43Speaker 11: So that's why I said, like, it have to be
- 41:45Speaker 11: the right opportunity and all those things, because you know,
- 41:49Speaker 11: deciding to go to play in Las Vegas last year,
- 41:52Speaker 11: it was not an easy choice.
- 41:53Speaker 8: It was an easy choice because it was.
- 41:54Speaker 11: Josh in my relationship with him, but it wasn't an
- 41:57Speaker 11: easy choice in the regards of what does this mean
- 41:59Speaker 11: for my family? And thankfully we had a great school here.
- 42:02Speaker 11: That allowed our kids to kind of virtual school with
- 42:04Speaker 11: the help of a tutor out there.
- 42:06Speaker 8: But it was rough.
- 42:07Speaker 11: It was it was a rough transition, and they were
- 42:10Speaker 11: all happy to come back once the season was over.
- 42:12Speaker 11: And so now my son, he's going into seventh grade.
- 42:14Speaker 11: He got accepted as Avarian brother. So you know, those
- 42:17Speaker 11: are all things that you have to take into account,
- 42:19Speaker 11: Like I want to watch him play football at of course,
- 42:21Speaker 11: he's watched me play for a long time.
- 42:22Speaker 8: So maybe it's times, you know, for a.
- 42:24Speaker 5: Role reverse when you have when you came out of
- 42:27Speaker 5: Michigan State, I mean, you didn't get drafted, yep, And
- 42:30Speaker 5: I don't know what your expectations were heading in, but
- 42:34Speaker 5: to then have what a fifteen year career off of that,
- 42:38Speaker 5: what were your expectations sort of when you arrived here
- 42:42Speaker 5: in two thousand and nine, what were you hoping for.
- 42:44Speaker 11: I was just talking about this with my son the
- 42:46Speaker 11: other day, and I said, listen, when I didn't get drafted,
- 42:49Speaker 11: you know, I kind of thought, Okay, the Patriots are
- 42:51Speaker 11: going to sign me.
- 42:52Speaker 8: I'll learn from Tom Brady.
- 42:55Speaker 11: Obviously, I grew up I watched Bill coach in Cleveland,
- 42:57Speaker 11: so I always kind of had an affinity to him,
- 42:59Speaker 11: and obviously him being a great coach. I thought it
- 43:01Speaker 11: was a great opportunity to go learn, and I thought,
- 43:03Speaker 11: you know, maybe i'll make the practice squad if I
- 43:05Speaker 11: get released.
- 43:06Speaker 8: At least I'll learn from these guys. And then sure enough, I.
- 43:09Speaker 11: Kind of worked my way up the ranks, ended up
- 43:11Speaker 11: being Tom's backup my rookie year. And you know, the
- 43:14Speaker 11: things that I learned in those first four years were
- 43:16Speaker 11: so invaluable to me that when I finally got some
- 43:19Speaker 11: opportunities to play, you know, you put those in motion
- 43:22Speaker 11: and then you just keep stack in year, stack in years,
- 43:24Speaker 11: and and you know, the thing about the quarterback position
- 43:27Speaker 11: is if you're relatively competent and you're a good guy,
- 43:31Speaker 11: and you make some connections, you know, you just extend
- 43:33Speaker 11: your career, extend your career. That's you mean, when I
- 43:35Speaker 11: look at last year, if if Josh isn't the head
- 43:38Speaker 11: coach in Las Vegas last year, then you know, maybe
- 43:41Speaker 11: my my my career ends there. But you know, luckily
- 43:43Speaker 11: for me, I've met a lot of great coaches, played
- 43:45Speaker 11: with a lot of great players, and made a lot
- 43:47Speaker 11: of great connections which allowed me to do that.
- 43:49Speaker 10: That's a little bit unorthodox Brian as a rookie. Now
- 43:52Speaker 10: you're backing up Brady, who's, by the way, is coming
- 43:54Speaker 10: off a knee surgery at that point in time, and
- 43:57Speaker 10: you're the only backup quarterback your rookie year. That was
- 43:59Speaker 10: the same in ten, you're the only backup court. Like,
- 44:02Speaker 10: not a lot of teams did that.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Well, how did that?
- 44:05Speaker 10: What was your thought process in that? Like you want
- 44:07Speaker 10: to talk about literally next man up into your one
- 44:09Speaker 10: pitch away, Yeah, you're one pitch away at that point.
- 44:11Speaker 8: I think I was too naive to even understand that
- 44:13Speaker 8: at that point.
- 44:14Speaker 11: You know, now looking back, when you realize, like Tom's
- 44:16Speaker 11: coming off of major knee reconstruction, had you know, some
- 44:20Speaker 11: hiccups along the way. Man, if I had had to
- 44:24Speaker 11: play that year, I don't know how ready I would
- 44:25Speaker 11: have been. Obviously, Bill believed in me, and Bill O'Brien
- 44:28Speaker 11: believed to me, and and so I'm sure it would have,
- 44:30Speaker 11: you know, worked itself out. We had a really good team,
- 44:32Speaker 11: So I think I would have relied on those guys
- 44:34Speaker 11: around me. But you know, at that point, you're just
- 44:38Speaker 11: I was just thrilled to be an NFL football player,
- 44:41Speaker 11: and now I'm going to a meeting room every day
- 44:43Speaker 11: with Tom Brady and soaking up what I can I
- 44:46Speaker 11: can learn from him.
- 44:47Speaker 8: And then you know, that went for four years.
- 44:49Speaker 11: And then until I got released in twenty twelve. So
- 44:51Speaker 11: I mean those years, like you know, those are kind
- 44:54Speaker 11: of like you know, your the years you're building your
- 44:57Speaker 11: foundation of your career, and I couldn't have done it
- 44:58Speaker 11: in a better place.
- 45:00Speaker 5: I wanted to ask you a little bit about that
- 45:01Speaker 5: rookie season. You were part of some really good teams,
- 45:05Speaker 5: and you know, ultimately you were part of a champion
- 45:08Speaker 5: in eighteen, but you know, you had that great year
- 45:10Speaker 5: in twenty ten, twenty eleven, you go to the super
- 45:13Speaker 5: Bowl in two thousand and nine. You probably didn't recognize
- 45:16Speaker 5: it at the time, it's your rookie year, but do
- 45:18Speaker 5: you kind of look back and say, there was a
- 45:20Speaker 5: little bit of something amiss in two thousand and nine.
- 45:23Speaker 5: That's sort of the way it's kind of viewed here.
- 45:25Speaker 5: That was kind of a reset year, and we're very
- 45:28Speaker 5: spoiled because we've.
- 45:29Speaker 8: Been brought up a lot of like I didn't know
- 45:30Speaker 8: any better.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Tennesse is going to the playoffs and all that stuff
- 45:34Speaker 5: is not I thought it was a great I'm like, man,
- 45:35Speaker 5: I'm a great but did you did you see did
- 45:37Speaker 5: you sense any like sort of dysfunction at the time,
- 45:40Speaker 5: or you know, maybe looking back at it, do you
- 45:42Speaker 5: feel like that wasn't the same as some of the
- 45:44Speaker 5: better teams that you were on.
- 45:45Speaker 11: Definitely wasn't the same, I think looking back now, knowing
- 45:48Speaker 11: what I know and being on some great teams, it wasn't.
- 45:51Speaker 11: There was definitely some learning curve, there was some adjusting
- 45:54Speaker 11: to new I mean, that was Bill O'Brien's first year
- 45:56Speaker 11: as a coordinator here, you know, so now I know
- 45:58Speaker 11: how important that is, you know, being a quarterback. When
- 46:00Speaker 11: you're learning, even if you're keeping somewhat of the system intact,
- 46:03Speaker 11: you're working with someone new, and and that was you know,
- 46:06Speaker 11: so those were kind of I guess you call growing pains.
- 46:08Speaker 11: But I thought, like, man, we're going to the playoffs,
- 46:10Speaker 11: like we're this is I'm on the Patriots. This is
- 46:12Speaker 11: like a super Bowl organization. Like Okay, one year, you know,
- 46:16Speaker 11: we didn't win the Super Bowl, and I'm like, oh,
- 46:18Speaker 11: we'll win it next year. I mean, I think that
- 46:19Speaker 11: that's kind of the expectation you have when you come
- 46:22Speaker 11: into that organization and I've always said this, I've always
- 46:25Speaker 11: looked at it. When Tom Brady was the quarterback, I
- 46:28Speaker 11: never went into a game thinking we're not going to win. Ever,
- 46:30Speaker 11: there was never And I've waiting when I've been on
- 46:33Speaker 11: other teams, whether I was the quarterback or someone else
- 46:35Speaker 11: is the quarterback, and I'm.
- 46:36Speaker 8: Like, man, I don't know how much to chance we
- 46:38Speaker 8: have this Sunday.
- 46:39Speaker 11: And I can honestly say every game that I ever
- 46:41Speaker 11: played here backing Tom up, that there was I never
- 46:45Speaker 11: had that feeling. And obviously a lot of other players
- 46:47Speaker 11: around that. But you know, when I talk with a
- 46:49Speaker 11: lot of my old teammates, I think that that feeling
- 46:52Speaker 11: was very you know similar.
- 46:53Speaker 5: I bring it up because it's again that's why I
- 46:56Speaker 5: preface it by saying we're spoiled, you know when Nats
- 46:59Speaker 5: can hit a quote unquote down here. But you know,
- 47:03Speaker 5: Bill infamously said on that documentary, I just can't get
- 47:06Speaker 5: these guys to play them. I was playing in that
- 47:08Speaker 5: game at the time, Tom standing next I'll get rushed
- 47:12Speaker 5: by New Orleans Lewins, and I think I remember thinking
- 47:14Speaker 5: to myself, like, wow, I'm playing in a Monday night
- 47:15Speaker 5: football game, you know, like, Okay, one bad game.
- 47:18Speaker 8: We got crushed, But I'm playing in a Monday night
- 47:20Speaker 8: football game. That's pretty cool.
- 47:22Speaker 11: And you know, you see that and you really and
- 47:24Speaker 11: then having been on champion, champion team and teams that
- 47:27Speaker 11: went to Super Bowls, you realize like, we probably didn't
- 47:30Speaker 11: have a chance to go to the super Bowl that year.
- 47:31Speaker 5: Right, And then you have that off season, which I
- 47:34Speaker 5: think is a very sort of important offseason. Yep, kind
- 47:38Speaker 5: of springboards the second run of the Dynasty. You get Devin, Yep,
- 47:42Speaker 5: you get Gronk, you get Adan Hernandez. Did you sort
- 47:45Speaker 5: of sense like, wow, we're going to be a lot
- 47:47Speaker 5: better you sort of get into training camp in twenty ten.
- 47:50Speaker 11: I think what I realized, you know, going into my
- 47:52Speaker 11: second year as a pro, is like, wow, we added
- 47:54Speaker 11: these two tight ends.
- 47:55Speaker 12: Ad.
- 47:56Speaker 11: You add Devin, who you know clearly was a great player,
- 47:59Speaker 11: run off the out of me. He's returning kickoffs for touchdowns.
- 48:02Speaker 11: You know, a first round pick like you added, and
- 48:05Speaker 11: those are you know, I'm just as young as them.
- 48:07Speaker 11: So it's kind of like, wow, we got like some
- 48:08Speaker 11: really good players. We had Cheung the year that I came, Yep,
- 48:11Speaker 11: Julian was coming. You know, kind of creating his way.
- 48:23Speaker 8: Through the school play costumes.
- 48:26Speaker 10: No replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof
- 48:30Speaker 10: of delivery, everyone could focus on the perfect opening.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Night FedEx Where now it's next.
- 48:36Speaker 6: For residential delivery.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Only and now great moments in.
- 48:43Speaker 2: History. No sense in traveling right now?
- 48:45Speaker 5: No, and he does you know, he doesn't just travel.
- 48:47Speaker 5: He usually does some pretty immersive, extensive trips.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Yeah, himself in.
- 48:52Speaker 3: The culture the people.
- 48:54Speaker 4: If you got to give that, you know, case of
- 48:56Speaker 4: cat food to the local shelter.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Why do you mock?
- 49:00Speaker 9: What?
- 49:00Speaker 5: Why do you mind? You're a bad person mocking? Yes
- 49:02Speaker 5: you are, you're mocking.
- 49:03Speaker 2: That's what.
- 49:04Speaker 5: Grint on your face. You've got that chesh your cat
- 49:06Speaker 5: grin on your face. Always going around the world doing
- 49:09Speaker 5: good things.
- 49:10Speaker 2: What a bad man.
- 49:13Speaker 5: Look at the bad man doing good things, trying to
- 49:15Speaker 5: help the cats. Is this a shelter for cats? Yeah?
- 49:20Speaker 5: My cat's been a little out of sorts really the
- 49:24Speaker 5: last week or so. We couldn't find them for a
- 49:27Speaker 5: long time. Last Saturday we were like, stop at you
- 49:32Speaker 5: see that, Fred, No cat out there now?
- 49:37Speaker 2: Yea, let's sit down with them. That's another great moment from.
- 49:43Speaker 4: All right back here and Patriots unfiltered A five to
- 49:45Speaker 4: five past five hundred is the ACE ticket hotline. Web
- 49:48Speaker 4: radio at Patriots dot com is the email address. We're
- 49:51Speaker 4: talking ot As and Patriots, and we're talking Celtics again.
- 49:55Speaker 9: You know.
- 49:55Speaker 2: I think it's always.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Great when a Boston team gets to the championship, which
- 50:00Speaker 4: the Celtics did last night, So kudos to them.
- 50:03Speaker 3: It's like until it starts, right, No, I wonder if Drake.
- 50:07Speaker 2: May will attend any of the games.
- 50:09Speaker 4: Sure, those court side seats are a little tougher to
- 50:12Speaker 4: get in the championship.
- 50:13Speaker 3: I don't know if maybe our own evelyns are would
- 50:15Speaker 3: like to go with him?
- 50:16Speaker 2: He can, Yeah, will you be at any of those games?
- 50:19Speaker 3: Might be Oh okay, yeah, if you can find me.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, all.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Right, So let's open it up to the listeners. We'll
- 50:30Speaker 4: start with the A Sticket hotline. Sam's in North Carolina
- 50:33Speaker 4: hates Sam.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 50:37Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 50:37Speaker 3: Are you.
- 50:39Speaker 12: All right? So come from North Carolina? Around here, college basketball.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Is pretty big, Yeah, I would say so.
- 50:47Speaker 12: I'm a huge Duke fran and I've been watching Tadum
- 50:49Speaker 12: for a while now, and well, obviously there's no shadow
- 50:51Speaker 12: of the doubt. The guy's uber talented but I'm still
- 50:54Speaker 12: waiting on him to go take it. He dribbled the
- 50:56Speaker 12: ball off his foot trying to go behind his back
- 50:58Speaker 12: turn it over against South Carolina, and the sick of
- 51:00Speaker 12: Brown saying, your Drake's brother Luke hit the shout against
- 51:05Speaker 12: Kentucky and won the title. Gotta hate that guy, Okay,
- 51:10Speaker 12: all right? With my question is do we think Drake
- 51:13Speaker 12: actually gets a chance in camp to win the job,
- 51:15Speaker 12: because if he's better than brasill it black Coop do
- 51:18Speaker 12: the same thing and mentor him.
- 51:21Speaker 2: I do think he will get the chance.
- 51:22Speaker 4: And I think that if he's noticeably better and and
- 51:26Speaker 4: gets it mentally, I think he'll play right away. I
- 51:29Speaker 4: don't think that there's any hard and fast rule that
- 51:32Speaker 4: the Patriots have already made that he's got to sit
- 51:34Speaker 4: for any period of time if they think he's ready.
- 51:39Speaker 2: All Right, I appreciate that, thanks Sam.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, no, I agree. I just I don't
- 51:44Speaker 3: think he will. I mean, and that's not a knock
- 51:46Speaker 3: on him or anything. I just you know, I think
- 51:48Speaker 3: a good plan is to to kind of get the
- 51:50Speaker 3: ball roll with Jacobe Rissett. You got a whole new offense.
- 51:52Speaker 3: You know. It's like I don't even know. Well, I
- 51:54Speaker 3: think I know what you're looking for yet if.
- 51:55Speaker 4: You if you assume that Drake's not going to be ready,
- 51:58Speaker 4: that's the plan. But I think that the plan can
- 52:01Speaker 4: be changed based on conditions in the ground.
- 52:03Speaker 3: Sure. I mean, I just think generally you don't go
- 52:06Speaker 3: in with any real firm plan. Let the guys you know,
- 52:09Speaker 3: that's the job of the personnel department is to put
- 52:12Speaker 3: enough competition around there that, yeah, they have questions, but
- 52:15Speaker 3: I think that you know, last year, I mean, and
- 52:17Speaker 3: I don't feel great, great great about the depth this
- 52:20Speaker 3: year that some of the problem positions. But I do
- 52:22Speaker 3: feel better, I think than I did last year, you know,
- 52:25Speaker 3: at least with a bunch of offensive linemen like you
- 52:27Speaker 3: just you hope. I mean, I think it was right
- 52:29Speaker 3: about in the mailback today. I think it all just
- 52:31Speaker 3: it really just depends on if anybody can play left tackle.
- 52:34Speaker 3: I mean, and really, in a perfect world, if Cayden
- 52:35Speaker 3: Wallace really could play left tackle, I think all of
- 52:37Speaker 3: a sudden, you know you feel okay about the offensive line.
- 52:41Speaker 3: I mean, I think you feel like a core far
- 52:42Speaker 3: on the right is a serviceable right tackle. And you know,
- 52:45Speaker 3: if if they like you know, if they like Wallace
- 52:47Speaker 3: enough and he can play left tackle, and everybody's kind
- 52:50Speaker 3: of like, all right, City South looks like he can
- 52:51Speaker 3: you know, fill in for cold Strange David Andrews. Just
- 52:53Speaker 3: reap for a couple of years, Michael, and when you
- 52:55Speaker 3: maybe he goes back inside. I mean I think that,
- 52:57Speaker 3: you know, that's the perfect world. And if if nobody
- 52:59Speaker 3: really develops as a tackle, then you know, you start
- 53:02Speaker 3: to scramble.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Let me ask you a question. I don't know the
- 53:05Speaker 4: answer to this. I just want to pull people in
- 53:07Speaker 4: the preseason. What can you get a better idea of
- 53:12Speaker 4: they're ready? The quarterback or the offensive line just in
- 53:15Speaker 4: the preseason.
- 53:17Speaker 6: Quarterback, Yeah, I agree. I think the offensive you don't
- 53:21Speaker 6: do You're not scheming pressure.
- 53:23Speaker 5: You're not how many lives the offensive line gets right.
- 53:26Speaker 4: So like, so, okay, let's say May is looking good.
- 53:30Speaker 4: It's hard to say, well, the offensive line is not ready.
- 53:33Speaker 4: I think you kind of have to trust.
- 53:34Speaker 3: That it is right well, and I mean by the
- 53:35Speaker 3: same token, I mean defense doesn't really do them throw
- 53:38Speaker 3: them much at you either, So I mean there's always
- 53:40Speaker 3: going to be a leap of faith from the preseason
- 53:42Speaker 3: into the regular unless the guy is just like.
- 53:44Speaker 4: A turnstyle out there, you know. And then even when
- 53:47Speaker 4: the defense isn't throwing anything at you, he's.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Losing getting me run. He's just lining straight up on guys.
- 53:52Speaker 2: That really happens, so like, and.
- 53:54Speaker 5: You're not playing it. Even even if he's getting time,
- 53:57Speaker 5: you're not playing against other guys that are going to
- 53:59Speaker 5: be coming after. So like, forget the preseason games themselves,
- 54:04Speaker 5: but we're just talking about what we see every day,
- 54:07Speaker 5: you know, on the practice field and it's not live.
- 54:10Speaker 5: We know they're not going to tackle the quarterback and
- 54:12Speaker 5: that makes it easier for the quarterback knowing that you're
- 54:15Speaker 5: not going to get hit, but you can sort of
- 54:17Speaker 5: get an idea. Wow, that was that was pretty immediate
- 54:19Speaker 5: pressure there on that play. And last year, like the
- 54:22Speaker 5: defense was really kind of aggressive early on during aggressive, Yeah,
- 54:28Speaker 5: you know, you can get a feel.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Do you guys remember anything with Matt Light his rookie year,
- 54:32Speaker 3: second round pick ended up starting as a left tackle.
- 54:35Speaker 3: I mean, was that a big position? A question? Was
- 54:37Speaker 3: he kind of penciled in as the starter?
- 54:38Speaker 2: I don't remember ever.
- 54:39Speaker 5: I wasn't. He was actually started on the right side
- 54:42Speaker 5: and starting in the game, but he started as a
- 54:44Speaker 5: right tack.
- 54:45Speaker 4: And I don't remember ever back then it being a
- 54:48Speaker 4: concern like the offensive line didn't seem back then to
- 54:52Speaker 4: be this big concern like it is now. You know,
- 54:56Speaker 4: maybe because you know you had bled cell for so.
- 54:58Speaker 5: Long because we weren't we weren't sophisticated watching football as
- 55:02Speaker 5: we are now.
- 55:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I do wonder at what point, And I think
- 55:05Speaker 6: this is an old Belichick thing too, is if we
- 55:09Speaker 6: get out there and trading camp and it's so clear
- 55:11Speaker 6: that Drake May is the better quarterback, but maybe it's
- 55:14Speaker 6: not what's best for him to throw him to into
- 55:18Speaker 6: the fire week one, but he gives the team the
- 55:20Speaker 6: best chance to win.
- 55:22Speaker 5: And how do you kind of balance those two things?
- 55:24Speaker 6: Cause then you get into the point where a lot
- 55:26Speaker 6: of the players on the team are like, well we will,
- 55:29Speaker 6: you know, we want to win, Like why why aren't
- 55:31Speaker 6: we paying the better guy, even though maybe for the
- 55:33Speaker 6: ten year plan with Drake May it might be better
- 55:36Speaker 6: for him so to sit for a while.
- 55:38Speaker 2: So you're saying, it's it's clear that he's the best quarterback,
- 55:41Speaker 2: but you're saying it may not be the best thing
- 55:43Speaker 2: for him to throw him in there. Why wouldn't it be.
- 55:46Speaker 6: I just think that there's benefits to sitting for any quarterback.
- 55:49Speaker 6: Like you hear things stories out of Kansas City that
- 55:54Speaker 6: Patrick Mahomes was better than Alex Smith pretty much right
- 55:57Speaker 6: away his rookie year. But they felt like al you know,
- 56:01Speaker 6: Patrick Mahomes still had a lot of mechanical things to
- 56:03Speaker 6: work on and some you know, translations from the air
- 56:07Speaker 6: raid system into the pro style system and like just
- 56:10Speaker 6: little things you know like that, and it just it
- 56:13Speaker 6: might be better for him even though Drake make a
- 56:15Speaker 6: go out there and make you know, some throws at
- 56:18Speaker 6: Jacollie Brissett just can't possibly make from a totaltality standpoint,
- 56:22Speaker 6: you know, the whole picture, it might be better to
- 56:25Speaker 6: just slow roll in.
- 56:27Speaker 4: If Alex Smith wasn't a playoff quarterback at the time,
- 56:31Speaker 4: which he was, would they have thought the same, like
- 56:34Speaker 4: what if their back?
- 56:35Speaker 5: There's a lot of like, there's a lot of argument
- 56:38Speaker 5: you can make both sides, and the fact is you
- 56:42Speaker 5: don't have an answer because you don't know what what.
- 56:44Speaker 5: Like I've often railed to get because I get an
- 56:46Speaker 5: argument with Felger all the time because Felger is a
- 56:49Speaker 5: green Bay fan and green Bay shits their quarterback. So
- 56:51Speaker 5: that's the only way to do it, says because you
- 56:54Speaker 5: have Brett Farmer, and you have but that's the only
- 56:56Speaker 5: way to do it. No one else has ever developed
- 56:57Speaker 5: without doing it that way. That so says Felger. In
- 56:59Speaker 5: that way, it is fact. I would argue that maybe
- 57:03Speaker 5: Kansas City would have won another title if Mahomes played
- 57:06Speaker 5: as a rookie. Maybe he would have been ready to
- 57:09Speaker 5: not have a slow first half in the AFC Championship
- 57:11Speaker 5: game the next year because he would have had that
- 57:13Speaker 5: much more experience, or maybe even in seventeen, because the
- 57:18Speaker 5: one game he played in seventeen was vastly better than
- 57:21Speaker 5: anything else they did the rest of the year. So
- 57:24Speaker 5: I don't have that. I don't have anything to say
- 57:27Speaker 5: that that's right or wrong. It didn't happen, So I
- 57:29Speaker 5: can just do the Felger thing and say, well, you know,
- 57:32Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers wouldn't have been good if he played right away. Fact, well,
- 57:35Speaker 5: he didn't play right away, so we never know. We
- 57:37Speaker 5: can't dispute that. You know, Peyton Manning had a long
- 57:41Speaker 5: talk late last week, I think about how much he
- 57:45Speaker 5: felt like he developed by throwing twenty eight interceptions as
- 57:48Speaker 5: a rookie.
- 57:48Speaker 4: That was my point Mac Jones first year, why don't
- 57:51Speaker 4: they let him make mistakes?
- 57:52Speaker 5: They said, he figured out how much faster everything is
- 57:55Speaker 5: in the NFL, and he understood what he could do
- 57:58Speaker 5: and what he couldn't do, and by year two he
- 57:59Speaker 5: was thirteen and three.
- 58:01Speaker 3: I think for me too, it's just the whole unique
- 58:04Speaker 3: new nature of the offense, and there are just certain
- 58:06Speaker 3: things you can't know until you get into week one
- 58:09Speaker 3: and the bullets start flying, and you know, I just
- 58:11Speaker 3: I look at valuable things of you know, find out
- 58:15Speaker 3: out who these Patriots actually are. What are we actually
- 58:18Speaker 3: even good at or bad at? What are they? You know,
- 58:20Speaker 3: you go into that week one game, you don't really
- 58:22Speaker 3: know what the issues are, what other teams see in
- 58:24Speaker 3: your offense that they're gonna throw at you, and so
- 58:27Speaker 3: you know, there's just a certain amount of experience I
- 58:29Speaker 3: think you could go through with Drake may as the
- 58:31Speaker 3: backup where you start to see the in game adjustments
- 58:33Speaker 3: that have to happen, how quickly you have to think,
- 58:36Speaker 3: you know, on the fly. Going back to the McDaniels
- 58:38Speaker 3: thing we talked about with him, where it was if
- 58:40Speaker 3: he saw it once, you know, and even within that
- 58:42Speaker 3: last drive of Super Bowl thirty six, they talk about
- 58:45Speaker 3: a blitz that they sent at him. He didn't have
- 58:47Speaker 3: it picked up, he had to throw it away. They
- 58:49Speaker 3: ran it again, same thing, trying to get him backed up.
- 58:51Speaker 3: He called the right protection, had it picked up, and
- 58:53Speaker 3: they were able to you know, go to Wiggy and
- 58:55Speaker 3: pick up some additional yards. So it's like, you know,
- 58:57Speaker 3: those kind of things I think, are you know, to
- 58:59Speaker 3: Paul's platt when you get to the end of that year,
- 59:01Speaker 3: You've got so much experience to kind of draw on
- 59:04Speaker 3: where you know, Tom had that whole rookie year where
- 59:06Speaker 3: he was you know, probably seeing things like that happen
- 59:08Speaker 3: behind the scenes of all right, this is what these
- 59:10Speaker 3: guys are throwing out. You know, we thought we were
- 59:12Speaker 3: going to get manned. You know, we're getting a lot
- 59:13Speaker 3: of zone today. We're gonna have to go to you know,
- 59:15Speaker 3: more of these kind of plays, like you know, knowing
- 59:17Speaker 3: what kind of adjustments need to be made. I think
- 59:19Speaker 3: there's you know, value in that where you know, Drake
- 59:21Speaker 3: may might look like the more talented quarterback, but doesn't
- 59:24Speaker 3: necessarily mean you're going to get him into the game
- 59:26Speaker 3: and the results are going to be the same just
- 59:28Speaker 3: because Jacoby Brissett's been here, he understands, you know, what
- 59:31Speaker 3: other teams might throw at him, and you know, you
- 59:33Speaker 3: start to learn, like I said, more about the Patriots offense,
- 59:35Speaker 3: and Jesus, we can't. We can't. We have no left tackle,
- 59:39Speaker 3: you know, and that like that changes things if you
- 59:41Speaker 3: know after a couple of games that we can't block
- 59:43Speaker 3: anyone with speed up.
- 59:43Speaker 4: So in other words, because because the Patriots offense, you know,
- 59:47Speaker 4: you could argue isn't really well established, Yeah, doesn't have
- 59:51Speaker 4: an identity. Let's see what that identity is before we
- 59:54Speaker 4: put the you know, as much as we can before
- 59:56Speaker 4: we put the quarterback in, so we know what we're
- 59:58Speaker 4: putting him into. Because right now, you're not really inserting
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: him into a like I said, a well established offense, right, you're.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Just throwing another variable and with a bunch of ab argument.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: And I'm not and I'm not saying pound the table
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: for that, but I think if you are airing on
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: the side of let's give him at least a few weeks,
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: you know, at least like airing on Let's give us
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: a few weeks, right, Let's give us a few weeks
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: to decide and all of a sudden you realize, holy crap,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Jalen Polk's a really, really good player, and he's going
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: to help a young you know, like, let's start to
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: get these two, you know, like those those kind of
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: things that might pop up good or bad that you
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: have to deal with.
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: But you have to make sure that you know you're
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: using Forssett the same way you plan on using Drake
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: may right, you.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Know, so it's kind of apples. I don't know, it's
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: it's a tough one. It's a tough one.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Well that's why, like when Mike said, you know, pounding
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: the table like that was kind of the point that
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: I'm making. I don't know how this topic, which to
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: me is so like layered and varied. I don't know
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: how you can pound the table and say rookie quarterbacks
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: must start in Week one, or rookie quarterbacks absolutely should
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: not play their rookie year. I don't know how you
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: can make it like just such a definitive declaration either way.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: I think every guy is different. I think every situation
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: is different. You guys talked about all the different variables
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: with personnel. Personally, if I got to the point where
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: I was drawd Mayo or when I'm watching every day
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: in training camp and it's apparent that Drake may is
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: already at a level that's better than Pressett, I would
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: play him. But I understand if they don't do that, Like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: I'm not telling you that they're making a mistake by
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: not playing him. That's what people are going to do
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: either way. If he plays, people are going to say
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: it's a mistake. If he doesn't play, people are going
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: to say it's a mistake. I think it's what.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: Dude, I think you summed it up perfectly with the
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: McDaniels stuff. It's like, mentally, he's got to be able
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: to process the game at a good enough level that
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: you're not really risking him, you know, in terms of
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: the mental aspects of it, because I have no doubt
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: that he is going to be the most talented quarterback.
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: If this was going off of throws and to ability,
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: then it's not even a right conversation.
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: But if he's not going to be able to, you know,
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: see pressure, or he's not going to be able to
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: see rotations or man's own this, that or the other thing,
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: and you're gonna mistake after a mistake after mistake. That's
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: when you start to get into the confidence and all that.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: That's when I would say, yes, he should sit.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: But but you know, I know Peyton Manning.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: It's not fair to compare anyone to him, you know,
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: in his rookie season, but he made a ton of mistakes.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: He had more interceptions than he had touchdowns.
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: And it's still the record, right.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: It didn't hurt him. It helped him. It helped him.
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: He said that. And I also thought in that whole
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: thing it was sort of underrated. He talked about Eli.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: Did you see the rest of this? No, so he
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: talked about about Eli and Eli because Eli sat like
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: the first I don't know whatever six eight games of
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: his rookie year, and then he eventually played, and he said,
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: and talk to Eli. He said he learned more in
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: the handful of games that he played. He learned nothing
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: watching now, Patriots fans will snicker and say that's because
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: he's a moron. Whatever. He felt like he learned something
- 1:03:13Speaker 5: playing that he couldn't from the sideline. It's it's yeah,
- 1:03:19Speaker 5: it's all individual, it's case by case.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: I obviously it was not very old and Peyton Manning
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: broke into the league but from what I understand, he
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: was a much more polished prospect than Drake May was.
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: I would say that that's it.
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: Oh yeah, and I definitely Eli was. I mean Eli
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: was like the prodigy, you know, like he was.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: But so my.
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: Secondary point with Manning is if he's going to make mistakes,
- 1:03:41Speaker 4: any quarterback is going to make, like you need to
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: expect the guy to make mistakes and don't be afraid
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: of that, you know, figure out why he's making mistakes.
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: I think evans point, though, is the right one that
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: we all, I think agree with. If we're watching training
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: camp and you know there's a you know those plays
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: Fred with quarterbacks just running around, you know, it's like
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: this guy came free over here and he just ran
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: out the other side, and it's a you know, it
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: just doesn't look right. How many times I say that
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: looked like a Patriots play right, you know, and unfortunately
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: less and less frequently the last couple of years in
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: training camp. But if that's what you're seeing every day
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: of training camp, that's an indication that what Evan's saying
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: is probably true. It's going too fast for him. He's
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: not deciphering, he's not figuring out what the defense is
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: doing fast enough. Doesn't do him any good to be
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: playing and get killed.
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: I mean, the biggest difference we see, you know, and
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: obviously it was Tom Brady, but whenever they put in
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: whoever was the other quarterbacks, they'd hold the ball. They
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: didn't get rid of the ball, you know, because they
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: were unsure of themselves or unsure of the play or whatever.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: And that was everybody, Yes, everybody, Garoppolo, Mallet, Rohan Davi.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: It's talent.
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Chico from North Carolina coming from North Carolina for the
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: week of Tom's Hall of Fame induction. Wondering if there
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: was any team activities open to the public that week.
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: No, Yes, Game three, Yeah, Celtics at Dallas.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Yeah, nothing, Patriots.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: May the public stuff for the Patriots doesn't start until July.
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: End of July with training camp. So I just want
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: to let him know. M what's this THEO. I don't
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: know the veracity of this. I guess I missed this,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: but how do you guys feel about the Patriots bringing
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: in Bob Cronenberg as a new assistant director of pro Scouting.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: I just I just saw the tweet over the weekend
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: that they had that they had brought him in another
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: you know, kind of experienced guy for the front office.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know a lot about him, but.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: I assume Wolf wanted to bring him in.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Never heard that name once in my life. So I
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: possibly give you any analysis? Yep, So Tony the anti
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: sports Hub take and just say, I don't know who
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: that is. So I can't give you, but I like it.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: I like it. Would I hate it?
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: Tony and Ottawa lifelong Patriots fan but never been to
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: a game. Looking to plan my first trip to Massachusetts
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: this fall.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: We should go to go to what's the sponsor?
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: The Massachusetts Massachusetts Department of Tourism and.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah something, go to that, Yeah, go to go
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: to the What do you guys?
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: What are your master suggestions for the perfect Patriots game weekend?
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Should I stay in Boston or Foxboro? Pre postgame restaurants
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: or bars other musts in the area.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Well, if you've never been to Boston, I mean you should.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: You should go to the city. Yeah, yeah, it's uh,
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: it's pretty easy to get out if you can get
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: a seat on the train.
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: If you're not leaving Sunday night, then you stay in
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Boston you take the train in uh and and do
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: it that way and then enjoy Boston like that Saturday
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: and yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Do the Freedom Trail and uh get some ice cream,
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: don't You'll get something to eat the North End. Do
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: something that's good.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: Go to the North End.
- 1:07:06Speaker 9: Go.
- 1:07:06Speaker 6: I would say that either go to Mother Anda's or
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: Reginas you want pizza. To Reginas you want palm. Go
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: to mother Anna's right there on the corner.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: You can sit outside mother Is it Mother Anna? Yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: right on the tough one.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: It's pronounced pizza time.
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: Thank you. It's a little step above you. No further questions.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: Don't go don't go to Straga. Okay, so that don't
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: go there.
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: That that's not a tourist trap. Not the real thing
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: to advice. Yes, we're freaking north Enders.
- 1:07:37Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: And if you're if you want to come to Patriot Place,
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: there's a ton of restaurants here. What you know, Italian,
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: there's steak, there's see fast food, Seafoodskip Jacks.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: Yeah, there's plenty, plenty of options here a Patriot Place.
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: You're a dining pleasure.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: So what's to do?
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: The Hall of Fame if it's open on the day
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: before the game on Saturday, not off Andre and New Jersey,
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: Paul said the Celtics will handle the Mavericks with ease.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Do you want to take those words back now? After
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: seeing how Luca and Kyrie are playing, No could go
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: either way with these teams. It would be cool to
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: see the Celtics get banner eighteen. But I'm a huge
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: Luka Doncik fan and love to see him get his
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: first ring now.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: I like Luka Donciic a lot. I think he's a
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: really good player. I think the Celtics are vastly superior
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: talent wise.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: Now, random offseason question one. How do you like your
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: hot dogs?
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Cook?
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: Grilled, boiled, air, fried, flat top, or just being a
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: lazy acid putting it in the microwave?
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: Grilled?
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Yeah, grilled is the best.
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, it's steamed.
- 1:08:37Speaker 6: Do you put the ketchup on the bun or on
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: the dog?
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: No, here's how you do it.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: You don't put ketchup on it at all.
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: So you question got the dog on the whatever you do,
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: whether it's the mustard, whether it's the mustard of the ketchup,
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: You've got the dog in the bun, you put your
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: topping on it. Then you twist the dog. You twist
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: the dog in the bone, twist it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: I've just come to the realization that Fred is to
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: food as Evan is to film. Here's where you went
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: with Now.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: The problem with that is when you get into the relishes,
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: they don't twist so well. They kind of stay on
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: the top. But what ketch up a mustard? You put
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: it on and then you twist the dog.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: I like it.
- 1:09:18Speaker 13: I like that.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: It's pretty common.
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: That's a good that's a good suggestion.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: This is a big debate now the only real way
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: to eat a hot dog is mustard and sour kroud. Sure,
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: but up in New England they don't have a lot
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: of sour crowd.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: You know, it's not This is a big discussion on
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: the Twitter sphere. Is like the right way to to
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: put condiments on a hot dog? Here you go, drizz
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: a right on the dog? Do you put it on
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: the bun? Fred's technique, you know all the different ways
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: to do.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: It the dog.
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: When you think about it, it's really a warm, blooney
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: sandwich kind of true.
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna miss that banter this year.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:56Speaker 4: Question two, if you could be in a movie with
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: one hot actress. Would it be from this list? Any Hathaway,
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Natalie Portman or a young or old samahayak me too.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Young, old, don't matter. Definitely not an.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: She looked too much like my girls Star Wars like
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: Natalie Right, Yeah, she's fine.
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: I was gonna say, Natalie Portman.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: As the Star Wars. Have you seen Acolyte yet?
- 1:10:21Speaker 13: No?
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: Hasn't? Has it come out? No?
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: No, that's right. Oh, by the way, so furios too.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: That was excellent. That was excellent.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: That's fun. That's fun.
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: I think he'll never get nominated, but I think Chris
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: Hemsworth is he should get nominated.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I think his performance was terrible. It did bad in
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: the box terrible.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Memorial Day weekends, thirty million people don't go to the movie.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: All the weather was so nice, but I.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Know, well we went yesterday and it was kind of crummy,
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: and there were still probably seven people in the theater
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: and we saw it in Imax, I mean seven people.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: I got a whole theory about this, though, I mean,
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: if I can spit it out now, movie theaters have
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: to evolve, you cannot. There cannot just be hey, we
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: should new movies now. They need to have all movies
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: and you need to be able to go and if
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: I want to go see Avengers, you should be. There
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: should be a movie theater for that where it suits
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: the big field, like shoots the big screen. Like why
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: why are you only showing new movies? I mean Furios
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: or what's the movie the Fall Guy was in for
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: like a week and now it's out? Like how why
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: can't these companies why can't they screen great, big, big
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: screen action movies that they but all the time, all
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: the time.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: What do you mean exactly?
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: I'm not fine movie theaters only show new movies. They
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: got to stop that, go back and show they have
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: to always, always, always have a slate of awesome historical
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: action whatever movies that suit on the big screen, on
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: the big screen that suits I'd go to job well
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: maybe jows but for me, but but I mean Avengers
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: all you know, like you're telling me that if they've
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: had the original Avengers up released on I actually wouldn't
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: have made it.
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: You know what they should do is they should they
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: should I think you're onto something, but they should make
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: it in an event just the movie, but you get
- 1:12:01Speaker 4: a T shirt or you get something.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: They do that for Josh and I've done this.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, oh you could do you know, package them
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: and hey, we're gonna do a night. Like I think
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: that the model of just we get a new movie
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: for a couple of weeks and we screen it here,
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: like you have this humongous screen. You're telling them, like Matt,
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: how many movies are there right now in the Avengers
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: universe that they were out and available to you, Like, oh,
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Civil War, I want to go see that on the bah.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: I want to take my kid to see that. I
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: want to take my kid to see Star Wars. Like
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: they have to get away from this model where they
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: just have only new release movies for a couple of weeks.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: They're all going to go under. I mean, this is
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: the way they're gonna have to attack. I feel like
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: if a movie like furios I went to Furiosa.
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: Now it was a beautiful day and it was two
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: fifteen shows, so it was me and one other couple and.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: The whole thing.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: That's amazing.
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Did you look over halfway? Like pretty good?
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Huh.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: So I've always wondered how these places can stay open,
- 1:12:52Speaker 5: like Fred just said, two point fifteen on a beautiful day,
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: Like you know, cut costs and just be open, you know,
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: during peak hours.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean I was brainy, but eleven thirty
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: on an Imax on a brand new release of Mortal
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: the weekend, like seven people.
- 1:13:08Speaker 6: I just it is sad that movie theaters are getting
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: like movie theaters can go out of business, right, There's.
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: No way that they're I don't think that. I don't
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: think your plan is going to save that.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: I don't know what else.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: I don't know what else could save them.
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: But I think Paul's idea is probably the best idea,
- 1:13:23Speaker 6: which is cut It's not open all the day, so
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: you have to cut down the hours, and then you
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: maximize the raising the demand the foot traffic on the
- 1:13:31Speaker 6: times that you are actually I wonder.
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: Though, if it's kind of an agreement with the studios
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: that they have to show it a certain amount of times.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: I don't know, but you can always change that.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Think number of screens, I mean, certainly one of them.
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: I definitely want to see Firiosa. I'm probably just gonna wait,
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: like I'm not going to go. I'm not going to go.
- 1:13:46Speaker 6: And like the last movie I saw in the big
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: screen was was Top Gun Maverick, which was like I'm
- 1:13:53Speaker 6: I was like, I'm going to this movie nine percent.
- 1:13:55Speaker 10: Sure.
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: That's the last movie I saw on the big screen,
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: and that was worth it because of all the noise.
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: Is that opening scene of talk on Maverick in the theaters.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: I was, it's the first movie everybody.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: So it was amazing, right, right. I saw Dune two,
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: I mean that was great. Yeah, both worth seeing. But
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: these are certain movies that, like, you know, nobody's going
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: to see the indie movie on the big screen.
- 1:14:17Speaker 14: Like that's dead, Like yeah, I used to sell for
- 1:14:20Speaker 14: four people who go see that indie movie, you know.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: I mean that Fall Guy movie. I mean it's already
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: going to streaming. It's crazy. I mean they so much promotion.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: It's Ryan Gosling. I mean two actors from the biggest
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: movies last year that were both nominated and now you know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: a fun family.
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: But that is but that's to me, is not that
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: is a Netflix movie like Fall Guys.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: It's it's a rom com, right, it's a remake. But
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: Furiosa should be a movie theater experience.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: It should be And I'm surprised, like did the first
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: one do well? Yeah?
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: Yeah, Fury Road yeah yeah.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: So I'm surprised because like, I went to this one
- 1:14:56Speaker 4: because I loved the one before.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's been a while while though.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that's part of it too, is it.
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: You know, it takes a lot to make a movie
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: like that, and then it's years later and you know,
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: I don't know, I don't.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: Great take, great take. I was thoroughly uh entertained me too,
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: Ian in England. I wanted to write in with a
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: roast of each of you, but after a reread, the
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: whole thing simply came across as character assassination of poor Evan. Instead,
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: I wanted to simply share how much I've enjoyed listening
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: to you since the end of the eight season. For me,
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: the peak of the show was when Fred was trying
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: to remember the name George Gottshe but couldn't, and all
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: he could do was say in his Jimmy Stewart voice
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: over and over again until someone guessed who the hell
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: he was talking about, Probably Paul.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: I'm laughing because I remember this stupid nonsense. So he
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: used to call George Gotzy and the.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: George George, and I don't know why, because because it
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: was George George Bailey, it wasn't George got. It was
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: enough for me to draw the comparison. So you had
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: to see it's a wonderful life to know what I'm
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: talking about.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: Of course, a show a movie from there, you know.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: There you go, Christmas event, wonderful life in the movie theaters, right,
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: You just don't think you're staying in business with that. No, Yeah,
- 1:16:25Speaker 5: we have a little bit of patriots breaking hop.
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: Drake may now under contracts a rookie deal.
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: There you go, it's big big five of eight may.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Gonna be my That's it.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: That's all I got, not July predicted.
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: Let's see being fresnow. A few random things. One, keep
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: ignoring the yahoos in the YouTube chat. There are a
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: bunch of angry little elves.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Do we need to get that open on the show
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: so we can see the angry little else what they're saying?
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: I don't see?
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: Yeah, Fred, can we bring back the Jackie UK grunting
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: drop Jackie UK?
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: Oh, that's that's who she used to work here? Is
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: that who we're talking about?
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: Jackackie?
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Jackie Britton?
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: What does that have to do with the UK?
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Britain?
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Oh?
- 1:17:19Speaker 5: UK? Sorry? John Down a plane I don't know.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: I don't know. Before Matt's time, I guess.
- 1:17:28Speaker 7: And which gf wers, What did you say that was
- 1:17:32Speaker 7: the one Jackie drop I found?
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't remember that in which p f W
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: personnel of old would have clashed most with Evan, Brian Moury,
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: Low t Rex or.
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: He who shall not be named bingo Ce. Oh yeah,
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: they would have gone at it would have clashed most
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: with anybody who's ever been on this show.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: Really, that's weird because you built Mori up is like
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: the c S. I know what I'm saying. You bill
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: Mori up to be like the old some final boss
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: of arguments that.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: Like, No, he was tough to argue with, but Brian's
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: a good person. There's the difference, right that.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: Changes, that changes the rules of the game.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: He's tough to argue with, but he's a really good guy.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Johnny and Madtown.
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: I just went to see The Matrix and the Dark
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: Knight back on the big screen and the theaters were
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: three quarters full.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: At least.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: Spider Man films have been bat Spider Man films have
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: been back, and the older ones were competing with the
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: new releases.
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: In the box office. Nice Deus Is onto some.
- 1:18:34Speaker 7: They Phantom Menace did Crazy Number.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know why I would doubt
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: the Hollywood game.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: I mean, it's a lot, but you'd have to find,
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: you know, the right movies. But I just yeah, like
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: I said, I just think of math.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: There's certain movies that aj in the Bury area from Providence.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: You know what they ought to show in the movie theaters.
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: If they can figure it out, they should host live
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: football games on the big screen. It would almost be
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: like watching it from the stands of the stadium. There
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: might be so red tape to cut through to make
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: it possible, but instant revival to the movie theater industry,
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: it would be bad. You serve beer, you know, you
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: make it like you're in the stadium and you're in
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: a bunch of fans.
- 1:19:13Speaker 5: It would probably work. I know that's they do it
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: all over the country and the playoffs. They open their
- 1:19:19Speaker 5: their arenas and people go. I just don't have any
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: idea how I think the best track.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: And this is speaking of somebody that is currently engaged
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: to somebody that doesn't like going to the movies. It's
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: the date night thing that they have to get back
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: on right, Like it has to be like this is
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: you know they did it with the seats, Like the
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: seats were like that was a big step. Alcohol food
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: that you could order like to you know like that.
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: I think like going and upgrading the luxury even more
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: of like making it an experience where you're paying for
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: something and you're actually getting an experience out of it.
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: Is because I can't convince just to go to a
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: movie with me ever, Like she just doesn't like like
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: it's just not a hobby of hers that she likes.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: She likes to watch movies like Netflix. She's not a
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: big movie person.
- 1:20:09Speaker 6: But if I'm like like Top Gun Maverick, if I'm
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: like I need to see this movie, then like maybe
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: she would go with me, but only for the we.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Went to like one of those like yes, yeah, to
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: get to get her drunk before she'd hang out.
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: With Troger.
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: Ellen Wisconsin. Mike is totally right. There just aren't enough
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: movies that justify the big screen.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: The next one.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to Interstellar coming back this fall. Nobody
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: is going to get my money until then because it's
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: not worth it. So what it's coming back re released?
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: I guess that was a good movie.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: Yeah, so thought provoking, that's it. I wonder if the
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: problem was Hollywood just what they're producing.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing.
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: The writers strike did push everything back. So now we're
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: just starting to get you know, more movies.
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: But I just wonder if there's just not a lot
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: of good news stuff coming out, so you have to
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: go back to the mic theory.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: Yeah, right, which in a way is exactly what they're
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: doing anyway, which the only movies that get made are
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: already made titles or sequels or you know, big tempole
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: things like that's why I don't go.
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll come to nothing really new that ever comes out.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Because you had COVID followed by the writer strikes. So
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: I'm sure there is a backlog there is movies.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: Well well, I mean it's I mean, even when I
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: was out there a little bit, just they're they're backed
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: up and they haven't really started going again like they
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: had before. I mean, there's I think I saw something
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: that's like survived till twenty five is like one of
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: these little quotes going around in Hollywood circles for the
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: creative types trying to get jobs right now because production
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: has not ramped back up like it was before the strike.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: So but it's it is. I mean, it's you know,
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: streaming was great, and I mean a lot of people
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: that like we worked with that wanted to write movies
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: wanted to go write TV because there's a lot more
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: creative freedom instead of all right, well you're gonna have
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: to write the next Avengers movie. And that's you know,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: a lot of you know, creative artists that they don't
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: you know, that's to them, isn't you know creative? They
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: want to you know, create characters you're with for one
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: hundred episodes now, and it's, uh, it's hard. I don't
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: know what the answer was with movies, but it was
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: dying when I was out there, and it's I mean,
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: you hear everybody talking in here. It's there are certain
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: movies that you're like, I want to go to see
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: it on the big stream for the spectacle, but a
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: lot of other movies that are just you know, basic
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: rom com kind of stuff that it's like, it's not
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: even worth it.
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: Well, I would say it makes a lot of sense though,
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: you know about that stuff. And can we look forward
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: to any projects that.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: You might have No I gave on the back No,
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: they are definitely none of mine in the backlog.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I ra and a half men on the screen.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: I will say, I think I've mentioned it once or toy.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: There was one project that we were working on and
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: it's not me, it was you know, my company, but
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: that I thought was awesome called Pump That was based
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: on Schwarzenegger's kind of take on being a baldy bodybuilder
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: in Venice in the seventies, and it was a great
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: drama of all these different kind of bodybuilder types that
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: you know, loosely based on him, not directly on Schwartz
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: and Aggor. But that was one of my favorite projects
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: we had developed.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: In different than Pumping Iron.
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: Well, Pumping Iron was right well, Pumping Iron was the
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: documentary of it, which is, you know, really funny if
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: you haven't seen that, I mean it's almost yeah, well
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: it's all about getting into you know, the steroids coming
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: around and really well yeah, well it was Gold's gym,
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: you know, when it all started to really blow up
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: and those guys all became but you know, it was
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: it was great. It's just a great drama. They're all
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: on drugs, they've all got girl, you know it This
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: is a really cool bunch of meatheads walking around Vennis.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: It was a good script, but that's the only one
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: I could tell you that the left over the.
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the other thing that's hurting the movie
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: theater is the home experience is just so much better.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: I mean, you can get a sixty five inch screen.
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: For around hundreds of dollars for you know, and yeah,
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: and you're at home and it looks good and it
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: sounds good, and you know, you have these streaming services,
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: like you said, you're getting quality content on your TV.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: That doesn't even go to.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: The thing that's the other part, Like Mike you said that,
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: like production hasn't really ramped up yet back to pre
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: COVID levels. And I was watching that. There was a
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: documentary on Steve Martin. I don't know if you've seen this.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: It's on Apple. I haven't Apple Plus it's different. But
- 1:24:04Speaker 5: one of the things in the middle of it, like
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: Steve Martin's talking about when he was sort of growing
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: up and getting into the business, people would be like, oh,
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: that guy's on television. Oh look at him, he's on television.
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: But if someone walked in that was in movies, right,
- 1:24:18Speaker 5: it was like whoa, Yep, it's not like that anymore. No,
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: it's kind of the same, if not sort of turning
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: the other way.
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: Everything's changed.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: I mean a musical group would never have their music
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: associated with a TV commercial.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: Now they all, yeah, sure, it's crazy. Yeah.
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: That was my other question for Deuce about because he's
- 1:24:39Speaker 6: mister Hollywood, he knows all the insights here.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: Doctor.
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: Movie stars doing TV had to have changed everything too,
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: Like Steve Martin only Murders in the Building is a
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: great show, and he's in that show with Martin Short
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: and like big movie stars are now, Yeah, doing.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: These voice is just so annoying.
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: It isn't annoying voice. But she's really good on that show.
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: I watched the first season.
- 1:25:00Speaker 5: It's really good. It was good.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: I I only cared about Martin Short though he was
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: the only character that he's interested.
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: He is really funny.
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: Well, so for the actors. Usually a lot of times
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: it's a more favorable schedule. You're not going for six
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: months to some forem location to shoot something.
- 1:25:14Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: Again, creatively, you're exploring a character that.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: You're gonna wife.
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: Steve Martin says, yeah, you're gonna have the writing and yeah,
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: producing ups and downs where I mean movies are super
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: formalaic and you as an actor, I mean, yeah, you
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: get to be in big stuff and it's fun, but
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: if you really want to get into like dramatic character
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: building and you know, exploring a care I mean, like,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: you know, just like I always get the mayor of
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: east Ham, east Town, but Kate went Town, like Kate
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: Winslet in that in that show, right, Like, I mean,
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: she was amazing, It was awesome, you know, and that
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: was you know, you go from her doing big movies
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: to to really a cool character that you know, that's
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: the kind of stuff that I think is more appealing
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: now to the character.
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: Definitely seems like it allows you to like almost flex
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: how good of an actor you are even more because
- 1:25:59Speaker 6: you're developing the character over stronger periods of time. So
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: it's like, you know, you start to really identify. You know,
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: a lot of these movie actors, I feel like I
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: start to identify with the TV shows that they're in,
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: not the not the movies that they've been in, even
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: if the movies were Oscar winning movies.
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: Yeah, Fred, You're always good for a suggestion in the
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: streaming services, Do you have any non non CG I
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: blow up the screen genre. What do you mean anything superhero?
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: You know?
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: I watch a lot of.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Watch Do you watch the Ashley Madison documentary?
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: So I have a lot of people that have suggested
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: that to me. We were talking about it on Sunday
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: with my family and that's definitely on my list. I
- 1:26:41Speaker 5: want to see it. I think it's I asked if
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: my name came up, it's.
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: A few years old.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: My mother las, yeah, it said pap Parilla that it
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: says denies being involved.
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: If my mother shot me this, look, I go, I'm skidding.
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: It's a few years old now. And I think I
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: mentioned on this show. But one of the best once
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: in series on streaming that I saw was.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: Mayor of East Town.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: That was really good and it had probably one of
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: the most perfect finales, you know, because usually no one's
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: happy with the finale. I thought the finale of this
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: series was was perfect.
- 1:27:16Speaker 5: I couldn't agree more with Fred. I thought it was
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: really good.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Hacks is new Hacks season out? Do you watch Hacks? Right?
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: Do you watch that?
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Do not watch has?
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: What is suits about?
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: Suits?
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: No?
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: Really? Lawyers? Okay?
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: Because they have that T mobile commercial now and I
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: guess it's the two guys from Suits, because I don't
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: know what they're doing.
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: Are they in a truck? And I don't know why
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: they're doing it? Commercial?
- 1:27:37Speaker 5: The scrubs guys. No, No, that's another one the Suits.
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: So Suits is releasing a spin off series about something.
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: I don't know. Jess were obviously.
- 1:27:47Speaker 6: Lawyers big into Suits when it came out, and she
- 1:27:50Speaker 6: told me that they're they're doing some sort of spin
- 1:27:52Speaker 6: off series, so I think they're trying to get themselves
- 1:27:54Speaker 6: back into the into the Have you seen.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: The commercial I'm talking about? It's the two I guess
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: two guys from Suits. I've never seen it, and it
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: looks like they're in a truck and they're doing a
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: t mobile commercial and they're acting like really silly.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: No, I don't know that's sorry, Like who are these guys?
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: I don't know who they are. I don't know why.
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: I've never seen Suits. But everybody who has a lot, yeah,
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: glowingly about it. I've never watched it.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Everybody who's watching their series, you gotta see that.
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: It's so frustrating.
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: Well do you ever like get into a series and
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: then you're like, I don't really love this, But yeah,
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: I've seen four. I got to finish it.
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: That was me with Sons of Anarchy. I love, I
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: love Sons of Anarchy, but it went on a little
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: bit too long in my opinion.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: It was a big Moose and Glenn show. I love.
- 1:28:42Speaker 6: I had to get to you have to figure out
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: the ending, right, So once you're committed, you're committed walking dead.
- 1:28:47Speaker 5: I gave up on I gave up on.
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: Monking did too. But I thought for me, I thought
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Sons of Anarchy was was they kept it going to
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: the end.
- 1:28:54Speaker 9: It was.
- 1:28:55Speaker 5: I mean it's dark, it's a good dark.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: But consistently they season after season, great finale. You know,
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: it's so simple. It's like they get into a huge
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: twist and you don't know how they're gonna get out
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: of it, and they somehow creatively do every time it
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: was it was good.
- 1:29:09Speaker 8: I really like that.
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: No, yeah, it's a good show. I've been watching Under
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: the Bridge. I think there's like one more that that
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: hasn't come out yet. I think that's for the first season.
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: It's pretty good, pretty interesting. Alright.
- 1:29:21Speaker 14: So this T Mobile commercial threads Mobile, Yeah, they are
- 1:29:25Speaker 14: doing like their warm ups in the joke is they're
- 1:29:27Speaker 14: auditioning to be T Mobile employees in this commercial. And
- 1:29:31Speaker 14: but all the warm ups getting ready for this commercial
- 1:29:33Speaker 14: audition are things they do in the show to get
- 1:29:35Speaker 14: ready for a case or a trial.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Okay, that's how it comes. And that's what they do
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: in suits.
- 1:29:39Speaker 7: That's what they're being.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: Are they in a truck?
- 1:29:41Speaker 14: They are they're in like eighteen wheel or audition room.
- 1:29:44Speaker 14: It's like a trailer bed they're using for an audition room.
- 1:29:46Speaker 5: It looks like okay, all right, never know, I guess
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: so I probably didn't get it because I didn't watch suits,
- 1:29:52Speaker 5: so I didn't know these two guys running suits.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: I like the T mobile commercial about the price lock,
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: the price log. It's not a price luck. It's funny.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Do you see that.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: The old guy it starts out in a therapy session
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: and he's having a hard time because other carriers say
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: they have a price lock, but they changed the price.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: It's not a price lock. I know a lock.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: It's not a lock.
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: Do you know anybody who has T Mobile? No, I'm like, yeah,
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: but I know that at and two horizon that's pretty much.
- 1:30:24Speaker 7: I think drug dealers use it.
- 1:30:27Speaker 5: And you know this because I was a high schooler.
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: Once, But I like the I like the carrier commercials.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: You know, if you come and we'll give you a
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: free phone and a tablet to watch. It's not Apple,
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: I don't care. You know, nobody wants your pebble.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: It's also not free. They end up charging you a
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: service charge for it.
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: Well, Ryan Reynold's like a billionaire off a mint Mobile now, right,
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Like he was like, it's just gonna be yeah, he
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: did well. He just instead of like just being a
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: pitch man, He's like, what if I just bought the company.
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: I was gonna I was gonna sell Paul and welcome direction.
- 1:30:57Speaker 6: But then I remember soccer and that's probably not gonna
- 1:30:59Speaker 6: be up as allis though. Yeah, but the show itself
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: is obviously not about soccer. Really, it's about right.
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: It's like ted Lasso. It's not really about that, but
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: it's well, but.
- 1:31:08Speaker 6: It's real like it. It's a real ted Lasso. It's
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: a documentary version of ted Lasso.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: Jordan in Hawaii writes in speaking of content watching, I
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: know you're talking about movies, but are any of you
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: big YouTube watchers any type of content you like on there?
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: Or creatives as they're referred to on that platform. I
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: myself am a huge YouTube fan. Additionally, I wanted to
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: comment on the streaming conversation from last week. Nobody does
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: streaming as good as the Masters app. It's perfect, free
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: to watch, free to enjoy.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: Just have to watch.

- 1:31:53Speaker 3: All right, Okay, I do like YouTube for random stuff.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: You know, it's always if you get interested in a.
- 1:31:59Speaker 5: Random topicginal content.
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they have now they there's people like TV. No,
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: but just people call creators that are making big, big money.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: Oh no, no, but I'm talking about shows. Oh like yeah,
- 1:32:11Speaker 5: like Netflix?
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:32:13Speaker 5: You know Apple, do they have original series? Original?
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: Not a lot, not a lot, but I think there
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: are some. There's some YouTube TV.
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: Didn't know. I know there is a YouTube TV.
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:32:24Speaker 5: And if they had original content, wasn't the Karate Kid
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: remake originally YouTube?
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: Oh that's a good one, you might be right, yeah, yeah,
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: it was then moved to Netflix.
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: I think, yeah, yeah, I use YouTube to find out
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: how to do stuff.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I use it. Yeah, that's that's a
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: good one. I've been watching. I've been watching this Jazz
- 1:32:43Speaker 3: of Session podcast though I'm still going on that thing,
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: and I have a lot of a ticket now.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: Is there's there's still new things that come out fifty
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: years old at some point.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: I mean, I can't stop watch because it's a guy's
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: got like ninety episodes and like he'll go into like
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: so much detail on like the littlest minute, and I
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: can't stop.
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: So it used to be, you know, we worried about
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: our you know, holiday roast on July fourth, and like
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: what would you have right now? We're gonna lose July
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: fourth because we're gonna be in training camp. So it's
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: not really.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: But you know, with all this content, it's tough to
- 1:33:15Speaker 4: get a good night's sleep. And if you're in desperate
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: need of a great night's sleep, spring into better rest

- 1:33:38Speaker 2: Of the New England Patriots.
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: So there you go, There you go, Tony writes in
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: streaming suggestions for Paul both on Amazon Fallout and Mister
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: and Missus Smith both great shows. For Deuce Hacks is
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: great and Fred get pumped up for another season of
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: the Boys.
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: Can't wait for that fell out of the Boys.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: I should go back to that.
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: Did you see gen z? No was good?
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: I watched like the first two seasons of the Boys,
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: and then per Matt's request, he loves it.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: There's a lot of TV coming back and over the summer.
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's like, how do you know it's like.
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: Action movie stuff, futuristic video games.
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, okay, check check that one off my list.
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: I have no interest in mister MSUs Smith either. Yeah,
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: I literally it's not that.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: And you do not like action because I like action pumping.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: I like to be excited.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: I've said this to a million times, Like die Hard,
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: it's a great action movie.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: Love it.
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: I don't like superhero action movies for the most part.
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: Okay, so you don't like things that take you out
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: of reality?
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: Yeah, and I would much rather watch like a typical
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: like Spider Man or Superman movie than I would like
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: a futuristic kind of you know, a post apocalyptic thing
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: like that. That's ye, I'm not Matt knows me, well,
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: that's the stuff I'm really out on. But like I've
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: seen plenty of the superhero movies and something like, I've
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: never seen one that I said, my god, that was terrible.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: Like they're all entertaining for what they are. Three they're
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: just not my thing, you know what I mean? Like
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: you you guys would like Matt.
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: It wasn't the movie coming off my tongue, but I agree.
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: Matt would go across the street, you know, to watch
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: the midnight showing of whatever the latest hit, you know
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: what I mean. Whereas you know, if I happen to
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: be scrolling around, like on a rainy Monday Memorial Day yesterday,
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: and I stumbled upon like Batman versus Superman, which I
- 1:35:26Speaker 5: may or may not have done, I'd watch him and
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: I was thoroughly entertained. I had actually seen that in
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: the movies with the kids.
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: I got a bad vibe about the acolyte Fred. I
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: don't know, Oh yeah, why it's looking a little too
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: polishy Disney. Just I don't know, there's just like, you know,
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: what I always love about Star Wars was like it
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: felt and I think George Lucas said, like the world
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: always kind of feels lived in, and like I felt
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: like that with The Man Lord and then this new one.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: It's just I don't know, it just seems too clean.
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: It seems like we're getting to a point now where
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: they're just starting to pump Star Wars theories out and
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: then everybody's you know, kind of happy, and I got
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: a bad vibe.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: I'll watch it, but I got kind of a different vibe.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: But you know, now, granted I only saw what I
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: you know, the trailer on TV, but me too, it
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: seemed more of an adultsh type of series, like the
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: Rogue series rather than Mandalorian or the other one.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: I hope, I hope. So I don't know, I just
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: I know, on like a level of I don't expect
- 1:36:21Speaker 3: it to be like violent, but I need like a
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: level of grittiness and real real to the Star Wars stuff.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: I hope I'm wrong.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Star Wars was gritty like the original Star Wars.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: Was, you know, the Millennium Falcon was like a piece
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: of crap, you know, I mean that type of grit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: that's what you know, Like the world fills, you know,
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: kind of dirty and lived in a little bit.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: Not like a sand Yeah, and everybody, all these jets
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: are all clean.
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: And I guess they got a lightsaber whip.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: It's like every time we got a new one where oh,
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: by the way, they also came up with a lightsaber cannon,
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: Like every time there has to be something new or else.
- 1:36:57Speaker 5: Why would we do understand?
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: Like how did like saber whip would be a practical weapon,
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: Like it looks cool, but I don't like So you're
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: you're winding the thing up and he's got an actual
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: lightsaber and now your arms cut off, Like I never.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Talk to.
- 1:37:11Speaker 12: You.
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: Got some concerns you're away with the whip if you're
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: losing deuce.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: Mat that's just shaking his head of me.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: I'll watch it, but I'm just saying.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: I don't think you're in trouble about it. I just
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: think it's too much, too much.
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: I feel like Disney's starting to forget that there were
- 1:37:25Speaker 7: once male.
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: Jedi is.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: There'll be nothing. You'll get nothing like it.
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: That's a fair point.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: Harry's in Connecticut. What's up, Harry? They all going, guys will.
- 1:37:38Speaker 13: Get a good memorial that weekend. Pretty clear. It's slow,
- 1:37:42Speaker 13: uh slow news week. But I got a question to
- 1:37:47Speaker 13: kind of go along with thee you guys are talking about.
- 1:37:50Speaker 13: I want you guys to to rank these places to
- 1:37:52Speaker 13: watch a football game. And the number one is on
- 1:37:55Speaker 13: your couch for his repliner. Number two would be at
- 1:38:01Speaker 13: a sports bar. Number three is at your friend's house
- 1:38:05Speaker 13: at like a watch part or something. And number four
- 1:38:08Speaker 13: is at the stadium but not doing your jobs, just
- 1:38:11Speaker 13: actually watching the game.
- 1:38:13Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: The last time I watched a game in a stadium
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: not working was probably.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: In the late eighties. This is a football game specific, yeah,
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: or early nineties. Yeah, yeah, yeah, even for me.
- 1:38:30Speaker 6: It's the last game I watched as a fan was
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: Broncos Patriots regular season twenty four to three comeback.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that was the last ninety eight would be.
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: Yeah, So of all those, what's your favorite.
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: I'm intrigued by the friend's house, just because.
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: I would put Friend's house one.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: Thanks Harry.
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: I don't you don't have to clean up, you know,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: it's kind of everything's there for you. You can go
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: in stadium too. Yeah, I'd go in stadium one. Still,
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: there's nothing like seeing any to me, any sporting event,
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: but live is still. But what if they told you
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: you have to walk straight into the game that game
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: time and sit down at your seat and like, to
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: me so much going to the game.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Is I know so much?
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: To me that like almost as time.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: But I think you have to include that.
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's why I like. That's why I like it.
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: It's the tailgate.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: Yeah I do.
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: That's one too.
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: The problem with the sports bar.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: It's good for like the first half hour, and then
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: you're kind of tired of being in the sports bar.
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: You've eaten, you don't want to eat anymore. You're spending money.
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: You don't want to take up the table if you're
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: not spendifying.
- 1:39:28Speaker 5: If it's a game that I care about, I do
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: not want to watch it in the sports bar. I
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: don't mind going to watch like the NCAA playoffs. You know,
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: a bunch of my friends will go out and we'll
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: go to you know, go to the street. There's nothing better, though,
- 1:39:40Speaker 5: I don't care who wins. Yeah, there's nothing better though.
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: When you're like in an airport and you're waiting for
- 1:39:44Speaker 5: your flight and like you have like a couple hours
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: and you walk into a full bar and like there's
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: a championship game on the NBA, and even if it's
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: like teams you don't care about, like people are into it.
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: That's me and Evan in Indy like that. The combine
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: was still going on, so we just like se We're like,
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: we got like three hours to kill and they're like, well,
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: the combine's on.
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: Billy Chappell had the perfect game going, and Kelly Preston
- 1:40:08Speaker 5: was waiting at the airport and the guy behind him
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: was rooting against them exactly.
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: I know what.
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: That's the kind of tension that the game.
- 1:40:16Speaker 6: Yeah, good movie. I I feel like going is still
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: number one to me.
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: It always will be.
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: I'm not a bar guy because then I feel stuck
- 1:40:26Speaker 6: because I'm somebody, especially if it's you know, a Boston
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: team that I want to watch every single second.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Of the game.
- 1:40:32Speaker 6: If I leave to go home, then I'm going to
- 1:40:34Speaker 6: miss part of the game trying to get home. So
- 1:40:37Speaker 6: then you're like stuck there for three hours and you
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: just there's no.
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: Place you're not glued to. The TV, like you miss stuff. Yeah,
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: when you're watching in a bar, if it's a game
- 1:40:45Speaker 5: that you really care about, you don't want to miss
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: one play.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: But but there's a lot of random people there for
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: you to share your gift with. You know, you can
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: tell them what's going on.
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: That's a good shot. That was a good shot right there.
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: The only thing that I do like about going to
- 1:40:59Speaker 6: the bar though, is like if they win and it's
- 1:41:02Speaker 6: a playoff game or something like that, like the celebration
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: after the wind, Like you don't get that at home.
- 1:41:06Speaker 6: Right at home, you just go to bed like it's okay,
- 1:41:08Speaker 6: it's over.
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: That was That was me super Bowl forty nine. It
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: was me and my in laws while my wife put
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: the baby to bed, and it was like me and
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: they're like, what's going on? And I'm like, you know,
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: and then the the you know, the miracle catch happened
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: and I'm like, walk them pacing and they're like, are
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: they gonna lose?
- 1:41:22Speaker 9: Now?
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: Shut up?
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: And lost?
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: Oh I did, But you know, I was on edge.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: I was on edge. I'm like, we gonna kid, We're
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: gonna lose this thing. And they're just kind of sitting
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: there like this is great.
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: The poor dog Alice cannot handle playoff basketball dad. You know, like,
- 1:41:38Speaker 6: I'm just like screaming at the TV, and he's jumping
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: and he's pacing like from room to room just to
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: try to get.
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: Out of the way.
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: Dana, Virginia and Michigan Right on, Evan, die Hard is
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: not a Christmas movie, the same way that ace Ventura
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: is not a sports movie and the Sound of Music
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: is not a war movie.
- 1:41:56Speaker 6: Okay, I don't know if I'm gonna go with ace
- 1:41:58Speaker 6: Ventura on you, but I die Hard not.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: So it's not a Christmas Yeah, I strongly disagree.
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: It happens around Christmas, but it's not a Christmas all.
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: It's not essentral Christmas. The Christmas brings him back with
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: one desperate attempt to win back as his wife right
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: at Christmas time.
- 1:42:20Speaker 6: The only thing that makes it a Christmas movie is
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: that he says ho ho ho, Like that's it.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: It could be he could be coming. Theme is there
- 1:42:27Speaker 5: for you to see if you're just too ignorant.
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: To I'm with Evan, it's not a Christmas It's not.
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: A central theme. So was The Godfather? Elf is a
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: Christmas movie?
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, right, Chris.
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: Christmas VI undeniable. Those are Christmas movies like that. The
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: movie is about Christ could be different like levels no imagination.
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: As a diehard fan and a Jew, it makes me
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: upset when we sit there and say that these are
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: all Christmas movies.
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: Sorry, Bubby, I don't feel included.
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: Tony's on the Cape. What's up to Hi?
- 1:43:01Speaker 5: How you doing? All right?
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: I was wondering with the upcoming Brady on Night.
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: Is that going to be broadcast on TV?
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: No, but it will be streamed live on Patriots dot
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: com and YouTube.
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: That's the only place you'll be able to see it. Yeah,
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: and the Patriots YouTube channel as well.
- 1:43:18Speaker 12: There's a Patriots YouTube channel.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: Yeah, on YouTube the chat too.
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: I'm not gonna lie, Tony. That hurts a little. That
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: hurt a little. That's where Mike, Evan and Paul do
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: some of the best stuff for huge, huge deal.
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: Yeah, so you'll be able to watch it live on
- 1:43:35Speaker 4: those two platforms.
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, thank you?
- 1:43:38Speaker 10: All right?
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: Thanks Tony Flippery.
- 1:43:43Speaker 5: You're a bad person. Matt Morrell.
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: Let's see, Mike says your Fred your computer is making
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: a noise every time you get an email. Yeah, I
- 1:43:53Speaker 4: just turned I just muted that. I hope that doesn't ye, Terrence, uh,
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: says finestra row r w H. The whip Lightsaber is
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: cannon to the comics and is near the end of
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: the High Republic. So essentially this is the glossiness of
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: the Jedi Order, one hundred plus years of the grit
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: and you wonder I have no interest in it?
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: All right, Okay, I see what he's getting at, though
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: I don't know. I will see you can disagree with no, no,
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: well no, but I see he's saying like things haven't
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: started to fall apart yet, and well, yeah, that things
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: are a little bit more glad to see.
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: Yeah, as you know what happened.
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: The Empire took away all the weaponry, so you know,
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: the only ones that had weapons were the Empire.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: And even like in the Phantom Menace, some of that
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: that earlier tech looked a lot cleaner, right, And it
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: was right because you know, before the before the docnents.
- 1:44:48Speaker 8: I need to watch for the Empire.
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: I mean, I've seen Phantom Menace a hundred times, but
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: this comeback of like, oh, actually it was good after
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: when it came out, every but you told me it
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: was terrible.
- 1:45:01Speaker 14: Oh you had people stage telling you were terrible, and
- 1:45:03Speaker 14: now people our age and telling you the real truth.
- 1:45:05Speaker 7: It was great.
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: It is a bad movie though, people people. I loved
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: it as I was a kid.
- 1:45:10Speaker 6: I don't know, I was what ninety eight, maybe I
- 1:45:13Speaker 6: was six seven years old, and it was like the
- 1:45:15Speaker 6: greatest thing I've ever seen. I watched every single day
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: and then but people told.
- 1:45:19Speaker 2: Me disputes are fine.
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: People told me it was terrible.
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: And now and now twenty years later, now it's making
- 1:45:27Speaker 6: this comeback where it's like, actually, no, it's been good
- 1:45:30Speaker 6: all along, and these people lied to you.
- 1:45:32Speaker 3: Who is your favorite member of the trade Federation.
- 1:45:35Speaker 6: No, but the opening fantastic. The end obviously is fantastic.
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: You know, the whole battle scene.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: At the end. It's just like the acting and the
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: plot really that.
- 1:45:44Speaker 6: It's just like the actual movie. It's so the acting,
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: it's great, it's so true. But the the movie poster
- 1:45:55Speaker 6: is epic.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and I say that as Look, there was
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: nobody more like I.
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: Literally before that.
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: Movie came out, I was graduating college, so I was
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: already like beyond the age that this should be acceptable.
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: Like I had bought the soundtrack, like and then I
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: went to it and I was like, oh, my god,
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: and I remember watching him be like oh, and then
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: I went back to I'm like, I gotta go see
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: it again. On the second time, I was like, this
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: was really that good. Just listen.
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Do you guys ever watch a movie and you're sort
- 1:46:21Speaker 5: of like it could be an otherwise good movie, but
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: you're affected by bad acting.
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: M Yeah, yeah, The Town.
- 1:46:29Speaker 5: I didn't like Blake Lively, and you're the only red
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: blooded male on earth that didn't like anything that Blake
- 1:46:35Speaker 5: Lively did.
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: They just looking at her different, different day, Blake Lively
- 1:46:40Speaker 3: in the Town, coming in here in my Boss.
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: Besides the fact that she was listening to her exactly,
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: besides the fact that she had a bit part, that's
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: that was his concern.
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: She ruined the whole movie Three Speed.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: Yeah, like Sandra Bullock. Yeah, can. I think Can Reaves
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: was as bad an actor in that movie as you
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: could possibly be. I thought the movie was great.
- 1:47:00Speaker 13: I love.
- 1:47:02Speaker 5: Don't insult he's a terrible, but I love always the same. Well, well,
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: he's gotten much better.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: I love John Wick.
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: It's like the movies are just asked him to speak less.
- 1:47:13Speaker 6: So it's just John Wick is one of my new
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: business that's another action movie that I like.
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: Oh you like John No?
- 1:47:20Speaker 5: Well yeah, no, John Wick is fine. But speed Speed
- 1:47:23Speaker 5: he's talking about. Okay, it's a good movie. Point Yeah.
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: Do you say point Break is bad acting?
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: Well, because that's that's my point. Don't dis Johnny Roadhouse,
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: the original Roadhouse. It's a tremendous movie. Horrifically bad actor. Right,
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: going to get people madon.
- 1:47:45Speaker 4: What's the movie that I really liked that all you
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: guys made fun of me about Paul Do you remember
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: The Wife of Water?
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: You got it? What a memory he has? Life Life.
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: I love that movie. I've seen it three times and
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: people like, how do you?
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: I don't make fun of you because I never saw it.
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: I just when you would, I think when you first
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: said it, I don't think I ever heard of it.
- 1:48:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I should have seen it because I like Wes Anderson.
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just quirky, and they're always quirky. Hill Murray's
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: very funny in it.
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: Right, that was pretty good. That was random when you
- 1:48:16Speaker 3: out of nowhere the last Why is he making fun
- 1:48:19Speaker 3: of you though? If he's never seen it?
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: I just told you I wasn't making fun of him
- 1:48:23Speaker 5: because I've never seen it. I think Eric probably fun Eric.
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: That sounds like something Eric. It wasn't like it didn't
- 1:48:30Speaker 5: have French subtitles.
- 1:48:34Speaker 4: Chris with a T, I A n My wife and
- 1:48:36Speaker 4: I are finishing up six feet under. I put it
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: right up there with the best of them. Excellent, albeit
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: unbelievably depressing show.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: I should watch that. I never watched that one.
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: Didn't see that either.
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: What's that one?
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: I really a funeral home?
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: Not seeing as the Wire?
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I never saw the Wire.
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: The wires good, but you have to get into you
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: have to get into it.
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: I tried to get into it, and I couldn't, like
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: sustain long enough to start getting It's.
- 1:49:01Speaker 6: Kind of like the first season the Game of Thrones,
- 1:49:03Speaker 6: where like you're kind of like, what I tried, what
- 1:49:07Speaker 6: is the point of this? But then once you get
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: through all the explaining of the characters and the set.
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: In the world and everything, I felt overwhelmed, like I'm
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: never gonna know who anybody is watch it.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: Yeah the Wire is different in that respect, but that's
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: a great that's a great comment. And that's why it
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: was like, once I printed out a character math that
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: you could figure out who everyone wants to I'm.
- 1:49:26Speaker 5: So simple, you know, like it it's a me problem.
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: I understand, Like that's totally a me problem.
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: What didn't for me with Game of Thrones was seeing
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: a map at West Rosa, Like it wasn't so much
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: the characters. Like for some reason, once I saw it,
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: like understood Will where everything was in the world. I
- 1:49:42Speaker 6: was like, oh wait, this all like makes total sense.
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: So Will wasn't like the eighth grade and he's like
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: texting my brother about things that happened, and like, after
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: like five texts back and forth, my brother's like, aren't
- 1:49:52Speaker 5: you when school goes?
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: I am right now.
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: He's watching Game of Thrones in eighth grade.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: Yeah, oh yeah, there's some stuff going but good, good,
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: solid parent.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: Yes, Richard writes in Jaws from DC. I'll read his email,
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: but he buries the lead because the leads in the PS.
- 1:50:07Speaker 2: He says, PS.
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: My mom tells me, Paul sat behind my aunt in
- 1:50:11Speaker 4: high school. Oberton is our.
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: Is our name?
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: Mary Overton? I remember Mary sat behind her. I don't
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: necessarily remember sitting behind her, but I remember Mary Overton.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: Okay, here you Goberton.
- 1:50:22Speaker 4: But anyway, his email, I'm interested in any historical examples
- 1:50:25Speaker 4: you guys, could give me of a team that is
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: similar to the one the Patriots are currently with a
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: first year former head player, head coach, other first time
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: former player, first time coaches in various roles, new people
- 1:50:38Speaker 4: in important administrative positions, and a rookie quarterback competing against
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: a vet.
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: Mike, can you out your Game of Thrones characters.
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: I'm twenty eight year old who watched the Killer Bees
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: all my life. I'm struggling to develop expectations for the season.
- 1:50:55Speaker 6: So I wouldn't say that they necessarily have a new
- 1:50:58Speaker 6: person in the well. I mean the Texans kind of.
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: I mean Damika Ryans, c J. Stroud, like Nicosiat never
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: sat in that seat before until he got to Houston.
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: I mean there there, to me are the the closest
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: thing that is like the model of if it all works,
- 1:51:15Speaker 6: and Drake May is CJ. Stroud, which is really the
- 1:51:18Speaker 6: big thing, then it would.
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: Look like I think that's the perfect team to point
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: to if you're looking for you know, the ceiling, Yeah,
- 1:51:25Speaker 5: just unabashed hope, ye look at Houston.
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: But but you know, he brings up a lot of
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: points that it's hard to find an exact comparison, you know,
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: with all the newbies.
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: I think Houston's pretty close though, because like they had Demiko,
- 1:51:39Speaker 6: Ryan's former linebacker, rookie quarterback turnhead coach that had never
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: youngest head coach in the league I think at the
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: time of his hiring. Also, like Gerard, I mean, there's
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: that's the model, that quarterback.
- 1:51:51Speaker 5: With the second overall pick as opposed to the third
- 1:51:53Speaker 5: overall pick.
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: John and South Carolina. I disagree with his take here.
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: He says, if die Hard is not a Christmas movie,
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: then neither is It is a Wonderful Life. They are
- 1:52:04Speaker 4: both movies that happened at Christmas. It's a wonderful life
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: is all about Christmas.
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: It's got the Angel and and all that stuff.
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: I would argue that Bruce Willis, and he says, and
- 1:52:13Speaker 5: it makes it a Christmas The Virgin. Everything Virgin did
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: was for her. Did we not get that?
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: What's a hallmark?
- 1:52:21Speaker 5: It was about Christmas? Like this is my time, it's
- 1:52:24Speaker 5: Christmas season. It's been New Year's New Year. Wanted coulday,
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: but it wasn't. It was Christmas.
- 1:52:31Speaker 6: Could have been her birthday, could have been good email,
- 1:52:34Speaker 6: could have been pregnant to see the birth of the baby.
- 1:52:37Speaker 5: Well that would have been really a downer for Bruce
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: Willis because he hadn't been around in a long time.
- 1:52:42Speaker 4: Uh, Patrick and Ottawa karate Kid was on YouTube. B
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: read whatever that is.
- 1:52:47Speaker 5: That was good.
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: That's a good that's a fun series.
- 1:52:51Speaker 5: That's what we were talking about. That was on YouTube first.
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: Originally believe maybe six episodes.
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: I don't think I ever saw. I don't think I
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: have a watch it on YouTube.
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: I mean, Johnny Lawrence isn't an outstanding comedic actor. I
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: mean that was the biggest surprise of it all. He's
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: hilarious and.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: He was great.
- 1:53:06Speaker 5: Do you remember when he uh sent the message to
- 1:53:12Speaker 5: Elizabeth Shoe Oh yeah, yeah. I just kept screwing it
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: and it was like this huge thing and then he
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: just like deleted and wrote hi right right now.
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: That's a that was a good show. Good show.
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: Ford and Savannah Georgia said, did you realize Sons of
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: Anarchy was based on Hamlet? I took a class on
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: Hamlet in college and knew what was going to happen
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: in that show when the connection was made.
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: Ye yeah, is that true?
- 1:53:37Speaker 5: Yeah? Well, it's a good amount of things that are
- 1:53:41Speaker 5: based on Shakespeare in general, but Hamlet specifically. Yeah, and yes,
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: lion King would be Shakespearean. Yeah.
- 1:53:50Speaker 3: Yeah, his Katie Sigal is the mom. She's she's really
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: good that you hate her, which I mean that is
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: like a which when you hate, like when you like
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: when an actor and a show like stir like Surce
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: Lanister like stirs up.
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: And he says he's sophisticated.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: But don't you ever like you read a book and
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: you got it in your name, you got it in
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: your head one way, and then it's actually a different way.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: The whole world all the time, and everybody else says
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: a word differently, kind of like our.
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: Lads or why did our lads do this year?
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: In the hour?
- 1:54:25Speaker 5: Correct? That is how you pronounce there are lads a day.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: Let's see who's this now? I don't know, he says.
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: Kind of weird with the off topic discussions. Rightfully, so
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: there is a much going on. Have any of you
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: watched Sex Education on Netflix? If not, please give it
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: a shot.
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: Great show.
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: Also, give me your top three TV show series. Mine
- 1:54:53Speaker 4: are in no no specific order. The Office Breaking bad.
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: In Ozark Ozark is really good. I really like that
- 1:55:01Speaker 5: a lot. So TV of all time, of all times,
- 1:55:04Speaker 5: I mean that's for me, Seinfeld, that's a heavy that's
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: a heavy question. Yeah, Sopranos is probably my one. Yeah,
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: I feel like it's tough, like because of the genres. Yeah,
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: Fred has made this argument, like Seinfeld in the Office.
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: Are great, but it's not TV like the Sopranos is,
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: or like Game of Thrones is. You know, it's a
- 1:55:21Speaker 6: totally different thing.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: I would probably put Game of Thrones up there.
- 1:55:24Speaker 5: Yeah. I think Game of Thrones in my top three.
- 1:55:26Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Breaking Bad to Me was like just excellent, some
- 1:55:30Speaker 4: of the best content I've ever seen. Forget about just TV.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: It was just so good.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Office.
- 1:55:38Speaker 5: But yeah, you like Seinfeld better than Office The Office?
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: I agree?
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but people swear by the Office the Offices.
- 1:55:47Speaker 4: I mean, believe it or not, to some people swear
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: by Friends.
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: Friends is really good. It's not as good as the
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: other It's not as good as the other two Friends
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: really good.
- 1:55:56Speaker 7: It's such a snob, my daughter after Friends.
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: Friends is really very good show. It was a really
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: good show. The episode where they bet the apartment and
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: they had that contest was.
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: Had there ever been four more unlikable characters on TV?
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: I hate them all?
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: Six The first of all, there's six whatever. Second of all,
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: I would say that you're you're really wrong, You're just
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: really wrong. Joey and Chandler are great cat unlikable. Rachel's
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: a funny I don't know how you can think unlikable character.
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: Joey's a great character, great character. Monica is probably an
- 1:56:34Speaker 5: unlikable cat, I'll give you that. And there were definitely
- 1:56:37Speaker 5: times where Ross was unlikable when when he got into
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: his really whiny face. Yeah, you need to clean up.
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: You used that word way too much. But you're gonna
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: get You're gonna get us all pinched. But Ross being
- 1:56:51Speaker 5: Ross is the point was part of it. Yeah, it's
- 1:56:53Speaker 5: like how I met your mother with what's his name?
- 1:56:55Speaker 5: It's like who was the least likable character? Which is also.
- 1:56:58Speaker 6: Based off of Friends and Ted is based off of
- 1:57:00Speaker 6: Ross and it all.
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: Dorian writes in Touching Base on the Game of Thrones, comments,
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: a lot of people don't know the intro to the
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: show shows the entire map of West Rows, and it
- 1:57:11Speaker 4: shows what's currently happening in each area as it changes
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: from episode to episode.
- 1:57:16Speaker 5: I didn't know.
- 1:57:16Speaker 12: I just.
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: Open them. I just really wish I could like represent
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: it something that was coming up.
- 1:57:23Speaker 6: I wish I could see it again for the first time,
- 1:57:25Speaker 6: you know, I wish I could wipe my brain.
- 1:57:27Speaker 10: And I was.
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: I wasn't like, I didn't the ending didn't make me furious.
- 1:57:31Speaker 3: I just enjoyed it so much, like I was so
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: excited for episodes to come out, and that same with
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: Walking Dead early on, I was so excited and then
- 1:57:38Speaker 3: amazingly just both shows kind of at the end.
- 1:57:41Speaker 6: I just think that the ending, the ending would have
- 1:57:44Speaker 6: worked the Game of Thrones if they didn't rush it,
- 1:57:47Speaker 6: like if the if it The problem is that it
- 1:57:50Speaker 6: was so rush that her turn just doesn't sorry spoiler alert,
- 1:57:53Speaker 6: that doesn't make it doesn't make any sense because it
- 1:57:56Speaker 6: happens in like the span of like an episode.
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: And a half. Well see, and that's that was my
- 1:58:00Speaker 3: whole thing with the Bear on that episode where the
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: cousin all like he completely turns in an episode, And
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: that's right, part of my problem with the Bear.
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: In the middle of the season two, I love that episode.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: He's all he's all better now.
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: Well it's the new season's coming out at the end
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: of June, so but yeah, I hear you.
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: I saw a funny meme that was just like, oh
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: my god, people want to eat our food. We're going crazy.
- 1:58:23Speaker 6: But at least in that in that in the Bear,
- 1:58:25Speaker 6: they show time passing, whereas in a Game of Thrones,
- 1:58:28Speaker 6: like time is not an element, so like you don't
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: really notice that. Yeah, maybe it was only technically two episodes,
- 1:58:35Speaker 6: but it was actually like a year of time. But
- 1:58:38Speaker 6: they don't really it's actually like a couple of hundred.
- 1:58:40Speaker 6: They were on cell phones and stuff and everything was like, whoa,
- 1:58:42Speaker 6: where does.
- 1:58:43Speaker 5: Technology come from?
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:58:45Speaker 5: I didn't see it, all right, I can't get him
- 1:58:47Speaker 5: mad about it. I try good offseason talk.
