- 0:37Speaker 3: my world.
- 0:40Speaker 2: She's vibing, thriving, sloping, sligh slopping love that I had
- 0:45Speaker 2: a finger bun for breakfast. I really thought you were
- 0:49Speaker 2: going to say that.
- 0:53Speaker 1: If I read.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Choose a finger bun had a finger ring, finger butt
- 0:59Speaker 2: every time.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Okay, let's get into the right.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So today we are talking sentences we wish we read sooner.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I was about to go pointer sendences we we web sooner,
- 1:13Speaker 2: We wish we were to, we.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Wish we were.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So we are going to be reading the life lessons
- 1:17Speaker 2: and sentences that truly have shifted and altered our brain chemistry.
- 1:22Speaker 2: But we also asked you chicks to send in some
- 1:24Speaker 2: of your owns and we'll also be reading those out,
- 1:27Speaker 2: plus a super spicy advice with the chicks at the end.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But first, Sally, what is your obsession of the week?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Okay, my obsession of the week is actually a new
- 1:39Speaker 3: TV show that's on Netflix and it's called The Residents.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Have you seen that? I've heard of this? Yes, by
- 1:46Speaker 1: Shonda Rhymes exactly. You know it's going to be good.
- 1:49Speaker 3: She did Crossroads, she did bridgeton Anatomy, Crossroads.
- 1:55Speaker 1: No, no, no, you literally led We.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Lag the least successful work of Shonda Rhyme.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's her best in my mind.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I also did Fuck What was that Scandal?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:09Speaker 1: But it is essentially a Who Done It? Series?
- 2:13Speaker 3: And it's based in the White House and it's the
- 2:16Speaker 3: I think there's like eight episodes, but it's all over
- 2:19Speaker 3: one night and there's one hundred and fifty seven witnesses
- 2:23Speaker 3: and there's a cameo from Kylie Minogue.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's so so good.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Don't they like play on that Hugh Jackman but it's
- 2:30Speaker 2: not Hugh Jackman and they only show the back of
- 2:32Speaker 2: his head. Yeah, it's amazing because doesn't the Australian government
- 2:35Speaker 2: visit the American government? Yeah, they're having a state dinner yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 2: with the Australian government. And while that's happening, a murder
- 2:43Speaker 2: happens somewhere upstairs. And then so they bring in like
- 2:47Speaker 2: a really famous detective who is played by Uzo Duba,
- 2:51Speaker 2: who you may know from Orange Is the New Black,
- 2:53Speaker 2: and God she's good. Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Yeah, So definitely recommend because you know it'll keep you
- 2:58Speaker 3: on your toes. It's suspenseful, but it's also really funny
- 3:01Speaker 3: and kind of stupid right up are Alley.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Kind of funny and a little bit stupid.
- 3:07Speaker 2: That should be our new tagline, welcome back to broads
- 3:10Speaker 2: the show that's kind of funny and a little bit stupid.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I like it. What's changing our bio? Okay, Kelly. When
- 3:17Speaker 1: we had Domski on the pod, we were talking like
- 3:19Speaker 1: our favorite Ride or Die beauty products.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And I was saying that the Morphy Sweet Tea brown
- 3:26Speaker 2: lipliner is like my Ride or fucking Die, Like I
- 3:30Speaker 2: use this down to the nub trigger warning, I use
- 3:32Speaker 2: the word nub, but it is literally my favorite lipliner.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And it got discontinued and I was horrified. I was disgusted.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I was going through probably the worst breakup of my
- 3:44Speaker 2: entire life that I then had to buy it on
- 3:47Speaker 2: Asos for like thirty dollars.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And then anyway, I'm running out of it. This is
- 3:52Speaker 1: all I have.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Less shit, Okay, there's not much.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I've got it in the studio.
- 3:57Speaker 4: It's about ten centimes Alexa play the Fine Countdownyeah.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And I've been stressed because I then went to go
- 4:05Speaker 2: back on Asos and it wasn't there. I was like, fuck,
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm going to have to go into stores and like
- 4:11Speaker 2: Swatch next to my morphylipliner. Now, however, the ten dollar
- 4:19Speaker 2: discontinued morphilipliners are back at Mecca.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And I bought twenty.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Twenty quick mass and two hundred dollars worth of blipliners.
- 4:35Speaker 1: They're ten dollars each.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Now, I will preface this by I got ten of
- 4:40Speaker 2: the Sweet Tea, which is the brown, and then there
- 4:43Speaker 2: was another show that I was like, that's the vibe
- 4:46Speaker 2: and I was like, you know what, I'm scared ten
- 4:50Speaker 2: of those two. Is it back for good or did
- 4:52Speaker 2: they just have random I don't know, So that is
- 4:55Speaker 2: why I bought ten And is that selfish? Probably, but
- 4:59Speaker 2: I am not sorry. I'm not sorry. And there was
- 5:03Speaker 2: still some left in stock. Okay, so please don't come
- 5:05Speaker 2: for me for being a selfish little bitch. I completely
- 5:08Speaker 2: acknowledged that that was very selfish at me. But I
- 5:11Speaker 2: have an emotional dependence on this slipliner. It's ten dollars.
- 5:15Speaker 2: It's so buttery. It literally can be used on your
- 5:18Speaker 2: whole face. I use it to do my nose contour,
- 5:20Speaker 2: my freckles, my eyeshadow, my lips. Like that's the last
- 5:23Speaker 2: of my worries. I'm really ramping myself up right now.
- 5:26Speaker 1: I like it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: But truly, someone posted on TikTok and I commented it
- 5:30Speaker 2: and I.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Was like, oh my hagking God, you've changed my life.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I was like, thank you, you have.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Done God said that's we should send them a check, truly,
- 5:37Speaker 3: like they should send you an invoice which work.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if it's back for good.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I'm hoping singer scrolls or if they just found like
- 5:47Speaker 2: a box out the back.
- 5:48Speaker 1: But it was the best thing that happened to me
- 5:51Speaker 1: this week. I'm really happy for it. It truly was.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I bought my my second cat this week. But the
- 5:56Speaker 1: more legliners, now that's good shit.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, the Morphy lipliners are the best, and they're
- 6:04Speaker 2: ten dollars.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so affordable. What the hell? So I'm really happy?
- 6:08Speaker 1: What a great day?
- 6:09Speaker 2: I know. Okay, sentences we wish we read sooner?
- 6:18Speaker 3: I really have to sound tongue huge I say it,
- 6:22Speaker 3: sentences we wish we read sooner?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Is ill? I still my mouth.
- 6:30Speaker 3: That.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Have you ever read the book The Five People You
- 6:33Speaker 1: Meet in Heaven?
- 6:34Speaker 3: Oh?
- 6:34Speaker 2: No, But I've been recommended this so many times, and
- 6:37Speaker 2: whenever I ask people about the book, they wish they
- 6:39Speaker 2: could read for the first time.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Again, this is always in the comments. That's a really
- 6:43Speaker 1: good one, and I agree. I read this book.
- 6:46Speaker 3: It's by Mitch Album if you haven't read it before.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I read this I think in my early twenties, and
- 6:51Speaker 3: I got it as a gift from one of my
- 6:53Speaker 3: best friends, and I completely agree it changed my life
- 6:56Speaker 3: after reading it. There are so many gems of wisdom
- 6:59Speaker 3: in the book, but I do have one that, as
- 7:03Speaker 3: a young twenty year old, I think really shaped me.
- 7:07Speaker 3: This is the quote or sentence that stood out to me.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from the inside.
- 7:15Speaker 3: We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the
- 7:18Speaker 3: person who harmed us, but hatred is a curved blade
- 7:22Speaker 3: and the harm we do we do to ourselves.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Wow, that is amazing.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, obviously there's going to be times
- 7:32Speaker 3: when we don't agree with people or we don't like people.
- 7:36Speaker 3: But I know that as a young person, I felt
- 7:39Speaker 3: so much kind of like power in being.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Like I guess like the people that all the things
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Didn't like, all the people that I you know, disagreed
- 7:46Speaker 3: with or really didn't like, I would be really staunch
- 7:50Speaker 3: about my opinions on things and could like really struggle
- 7:55Speaker 3: to let things go. I think he love a grudge.
- 7:57Speaker 3: He loved a grudge, loved a grudge, loved like standing
- 8:00Speaker 3: up for injustices on behalf of my friends and doing that,
- 8:04Speaker 3: you know, under the pretense that I was being really
- 8:06Speaker 3: loyal or not putting up with people's shit. All of
- 8:09Speaker 3: these things I think are positive qualities in moderation. But
- 8:14Speaker 3: holding onto something for so long only poisons you. Like
- 8:19Speaker 3: you're the one who's ruminating on these things when you
- 8:21Speaker 3: go to bed at night. The other person doesn't know
- 8:24Speaker 3: and probably doesn't care, So let it go.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I think that's so powerful.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It really does encourage you to think, like, truly, is
- 8:33Speaker 2: there anyone that I like genuinely hate Yeah, and why
- 8:37Speaker 2: because even if you know, you think about maybe the
- 8:40Speaker 2: people that like severely bullied you in high school.
- 8:42Speaker 1: When I think about that, I don't hate them, hmm.
- 8:45Speaker 2: But I'm like, I don't necessarily like you, but I
- 8:48Speaker 2: also never think about you anymore.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:51Speaker 2: That It's like even you know, in the last couple
- 8:54Speaker 2: of years, I've had a few reach out and offer apologies,
- 8:57Speaker 2: which is great. Yeah, it's a lot of growth and yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 2: and it's a lot of great, but I'm also like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: thank you, but I also don't need the apology anymore
- 9:06Speaker 2: because I don't hold on to it, and I think
- 9:08Speaker 2: that does take time, and that takes effort, and sometimes
- 9:11Speaker 2: it does even take talking to a professional to help
- 9:14Speaker 2: you through the emotions to get over some of those humps.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Because again that's not to say that there isn't necessarily
- 9:22Speaker 2: you don't have to forgive people either, Like if you've
- 9:25Speaker 2: been really hurt or something really devastating has happened to you,
- 9:29Speaker 2: you don't have to.
- 9:30Speaker 1: We're not saying like, no, you've got to like the
- 9:32Speaker 1: move on. Everyone's in kumbaia and far assholes.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Finger bang, But I think exactly what you're saying, do
- 9:42Speaker 2: you remember did you ever read this book in primary school?
- 9:45Speaker 1: It was this story.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Book about a kid that carried around this brown ball,
- 9:51Speaker 2: and the ball just throughout the book kept getting bigger
- 9:54Speaker 2: and bigger and heavier and heavier.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Do you remember that?
- 9:56Speaker 3: Yes?
- 9:57Speaker 1: Does it end up as like a boulder in the hands.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And he's pushed this boulder and this rock and he's
- 10:02Speaker 2: pushing it up hills and trying.
- 10:04Speaker 1: To get it to school.
- 10:05Speaker 2: And by the end of the book, as so many
- 10:08Speaker 2: children's books are, the life lesson is letting go of
- 10:12Speaker 2: grudges and heaviness because it actually just ends up you
- 10:16Speaker 2: who's carrying the weight exactly.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I need to find what that book is. If you
- 10:20Speaker 1: chicks remember what it's called put in the comments.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I also think it's very helpful in today's climate, especially
- 10:25Speaker 2: based on the conversation that we had recently in terms.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Of don't be a hater, just be a coin yees. Yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 1: what's your first one?
- 10:35Speaker 2: My first one is actually from a fictional fantasy book
- 10:41Speaker 2: that I'm reading. And sometimes in fictional books, you don't
- 10:46Speaker 2: expect like a quote to come out and like smack
- 10:50Speaker 2: you on the bum.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And you like it gives you a little pinch and
- 10:55Speaker 1: you're like, oh, oh, expecting that, and I was like, good, nay.
- 11:00Speaker 2: So the book is the plated prisoner series and I
- 11:04Speaker 2: spoke about this on the Basic Bitch book Club and
- 11:07Speaker 2: I hated the first book.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I load it, that really.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Came out, but I let go of my hate as
- 11:14Speaker 2: per this episode, and.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I read the second.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I was like yea me, and then I kind of
- 11:20Speaker 2: fell off, I mean third of the way through the
- 11:23Speaker 2: third one. But then one of the chicks in the
- 11:25Speaker 2: book club was like, no, this is like my book
- 11:27Speaker 2: series that if I could read it again for the
- 11:29Speaker 2: first time, I would, and I was like fine. I
- 11:32Speaker 2: read the whole third book in one day and I
- 11:34Speaker 2: was like, all right, you're right. It's filthy, it's smutty,
- 11:36Speaker 2: and I loved it. But in the book there was
- 11:39Speaker 2: this one quote that I was like, write that down,
- 11:40Speaker 2: write that down, and it was this, there comes a
- 11:44Speaker 2: point in time in your life when you have to
- 11:46Speaker 2: choose between having regrets and the possibility of making mistakes.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Because truly, I think that's just like your
- 11:57Speaker 2: whole life. To be honest, there is so many times
- 12:00Speaker 2: in my life that I just wouldn't do something because
- 12:04Speaker 2: I was so scared of the negative, and I was like, no,
- 12:08Speaker 2: that's as if it was a sure thing, as if
- 12:11Speaker 2: that negativity or.
- 12:13Speaker 1: That thing that would go wrong.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Of what if that was not positive was written in
- 12:20Speaker 2: the stars and was like one hundred percent going to happen.
- 12:23Speaker 2: But it's simply a possibility. And as we've said on
- 12:26Speaker 2: this show so many.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Times, there is only one thing in.
- 12:30Speaker 2: This life that you cannot get a refund for, and
- 12:32Speaker 2: that's your time. And would I rather regret not doing
- 12:35Speaker 2: that and never being able to do it again or
- 12:39Speaker 2: possibly make a mistake, which really is just a life lesson.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I can think of times in my early twenties when
- 12:47Speaker 3: I literally self sabotage myself in job interviews because I
- 12:51Speaker 3: was scared of the possibility of getting into another job
- 12:54Speaker 3: and all the things that could potentially go wrong even
- 12:57Speaker 3: though I wanted the job.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Well, there's so like even people do it with relationships,
- 13:03Speaker 2: Like you know, I would do it when I was
- 13:05Speaker 2: single and I would meet someone and I'd be like yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and I would then self sabotage and I would sabotage
- 13:11Speaker 2: your relationship because I was scared of getting hurt.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So I was like I'm not.
- 13:14Speaker 2: Gonna let this go any further because I don't want
- 13:17Speaker 2: to get hurt again. And there's you can probably list
- 13:20Speaker 2: out so many times in your life where you're looking
- 13:23Speaker 2: at like a fork in the road being like your name,
- 13:27Speaker 2: and it's scary, but it might not go wrong, like
- 13:31Speaker 2: what if?
- 13:32Speaker 1: What the what if?
- 13:33Speaker 2: Is good?
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah, And most.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Of the time it is exactly or even if it
- 13:38Speaker 3: is bad, it's never as bad as we think it's going.
- 13:41Speaker 2: To be, truly, and you will deal with it so
- 13:43Speaker 2: much better. So yeah, when I read that, I was.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Like me, like, fine, damn it, all right, what's.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Your next sentence? You wish you read sooner?
- 13:51Speaker 1: So I feel like you're gonna laugh at me for
- 13:53Speaker 1: this one. Oh great.
- 13:54Speaker 3: This one is from the Elton John documentary Very Good
- 13:58Speaker 3: that recently came out on Disney Plus, and it's about
- 14:02Speaker 3: his last tour that he ever did. And he's obviously
- 14:05Speaker 3: had an amazing career, has achieved so much and has
- 14:09Speaker 3: left an incredible legacy on the world in so many ways,
- 14:13Speaker 3: especially on me. But there was one quote from the
- 14:16Speaker 3: documentary that really stood out to me, and I was
- 14:19Speaker 3: just like, fuck, if Elton John can say this, I
- 14:22Speaker 3: think we could all say this to ourselves, And he
- 14:25Speaker 3: said on my gravestone, I wanted to say he was
- 14:30Speaker 3: a great husband and a great father, not he was
- 14:33Speaker 3: the best musician or best songwriter. And I just thought
- 14:37Speaker 3: that was so beautiful coming from somebody like him that
- 14:42Speaker 3: has achieved so much, And it was a good reminder
- 14:46Speaker 3: that I think the sum of our legacy isn't our achievements,
- 14:49Speaker 3: but the connections that we make, and that's the true
- 14:52Speaker 3: impact that we'll have, because so many of us will
- 14:56Speaker 3: be like I don't know if you're like working a
- 14:59Speaker 3: job and you're like, oh, but I could be doing this,
- 15:01Speaker 3: or you're comparing yourself to other people, or why haven't
- 15:03Speaker 3: I achieved this by this time? And it's like, is
- 15:07Speaker 3: that really what is important? Like is that what you're
- 15:09Speaker 3: going to be thinking back on at the end of
- 15:11Speaker 3: your days, or what the people in your life will.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Remember you for.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Like I really doubt that any of the people that
- 15:17Speaker 3: we love in our life will be thinking about us
- 15:21Speaker 3: or think about us and be like, God, their podcast
- 15:23Speaker 3: is good, you know what I mean? Like I would
- 15:25Speaker 3: hope that they would be proud of our achievements, but
- 15:27Speaker 3: I think there would be so many things that would
- 15:29Speaker 3: come before that.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I really like that, like that a lot, a lot. Okay,
- 15:36Speaker 1: this one's short and sweet.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Stop expecting honesty from people who lie to themselves?
- 15:41Speaker 1: Ooh shit.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You know how sometimes we can really rev ourselves up
- 15:47Speaker 2: with frustration with people potentially colleagues, potentially family members, potentially
- 15:53Speaker 2: toxic friends or relationships that you truly can't see how
- 16:00Speaker 2: they get to a certain point in what they're saying,
- 16:03Speaker 2: and they are absolutely living in a state of just
- 16:08Speaker 2: non reality. That we're never going to agree with everyone,
- 16:13Speaker 2: But I do believe that sometimes we can waste too
- 16:16Speaker 2: much energy trying to convince people of a truth that
- 16:21Speaker 2: they are never going to accept because they are just
- 16:23Speaker 2: continuously lying to themselves. That's not to say that everyone
- 16:26Speaker 2: also needs to have the same perspective as us, but
- 16:29Speaker 2: I think we have all probably had an experience with
- 16:33Speaker 2: someone who you've tried to find middle ground with and
- 16:36Speaker 2: they just won't budge. There is also the saying that
- 16:40Speaker 2: is very common that there's three sides to every story,
- 16:42Speaker 2: your truth, their truth, and what actually happened, So like
- 16:46Speaker 2: with everything there like there are multiple ways that you
- 16:49Speaker 2: can discuss these sentences, which is what I like about
- 16:51Speaker 2: them to be honest, But I really enjoy it because,
- 16:57Speaker 2: especially with this job, sometimes people can sometimes push a
- 17:02Speaker 2: narrative or they comment things, and I'm like, but.
- 17:05Speaker 1: That's not like I don't know.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Even sometimes like years ago, we had we did a
- 17:11Speaker 2: brand partnership and we displayed that it was a brand partnership,
- 17:15Speaker 2: but someone was just like, you didn't.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Discover I was like, yes, I did, yeah, and so
- 17:20Speaker 1: I deleted the comment. I was like I literally did, yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 1: And I was like, you're misleading people.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I was by saying that, And then they came
- 17:27Speaker 2: in and they came in so hot, and I was
- 17:29Speaker 2: like so like no, no, no, like I wasn't lying,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I wasn't lying, and I got so wrapped up in
- 17:36Speaker 2: like needing to prove that I was honest. But I
- 17:38Speaker 2: was like, do you know what, I'm never going to
- 17:40Speaker 2: convince you. Yeah, so what's the point. Why am I
- 17:43Speaker 2: waste energy? And also this was like five minutes of
- 17:46Speaker 2: their day. Yeah, but I'm letting it ruin my whole day.
- 17:49Speaker 2: So don't let people who lie to themselves ruin your day.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Love that should we get into some of the Chicks sessions.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Okay, this one kind of.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Backs off from that one, but it's actually from Zigsmam
- 18:01Speaker 2: aka Carmen who wrote it in and.
- 18:03Speaker 1: She is always full of words of wisdom.
- 18:06Speaker 2: If you haven't listened to her podcast, I've always said that,
- 18:08Speaker 2: definitely give it a listen. But she sent in I've
- 18:12Speaker 2: never received hate from someone I'd want to swap lives with.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, God, that's good.
- 18:19Speaker 4: Isn't that good?
- 18:20Speaker 2: If you constantly find that you're disagreeing with someone at
- 18:23Speaker 2: work and you're really struggling with like the way that
- 18:26Speaker 2: they speak to you or talk to you or give
- 18:28Speaker 2: you feedback, sometimes it's really nice and it does put
- 18:33Speaker 2: you on a little bit of a superiority trip, but
- 18:35Speaker 2: maybe that's how you get through it.
- 18:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, it's a coping.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Do you know what I wouldn't want to be you?
- 18:41Speaker 3: Yeah, if this is your biggest problem in your life,
- 18:43Speaker 3: I wouldn't want to have your life.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And that's okay.
- 18:45Speaker 4: And I do feel like that literally makes.
- 18:48Speaker 2: You the most chill colme, easy going water.
- 18:53Speaker 1: For Duck's back, bitch, like being like, do you know what?
- 18:57Speaker 1: I don't want your life? It's very let them theory,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean?
- 19:03Speaker 2: I actually prefer being me so you can have that
- 19:06Speaker 2: opinion because I don't want to be you. Yeah, but yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 2: you do get like a little bit of a higher
- 19:11Speaker 2: mighty feeling. But hey, it goes God to do what
- 19:14Speaker 2: girl's gonna do, honestly, And I like that.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 19:18Speaker 2: It's very similar to you will never be looked down
- 19:21Speaker 2: on by anyone doing better than you.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 2: True, you know people are very often trying to bring
- 19:26Speaker 2: you down to their own level. Yeah, when they're doing that.
- 19:30Speaker 2: This one I did really love as well. And it's
- 19:32Speaker 2: actually very similar to a philosopher Alan Watt, and some
- 19:37Speaker 2: speakings and lectures that he also spoke about. And it's
- 19:40Speaker 2: that your feelings are valid, but your behavior is not.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So every emotion you have is valid.
- 19:49Speaker 2: You are allowed to feel how you feel, but your
- 19:53Speaker 2: reaction is what you need to control, which I sometimes struggle.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I am getting better, But it's like the not sending
- 20:07Speaker 2: the text when you're pissed off. It's the sleeping on
- 20:10Speaker 2: it after you've had a disagreement with someone.
- 20:13Speaker 1: It's a counting to.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Den whatever it is, but let them the Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 2: And Alan Watts does kind of talk about this that
- 20:21Speaker 2: it's like if something has upset you if you're feeling
- 20:23Speaker 2: angry or sad or anything along those lines. You're allowed
- 20:29Speaker 2: to feel those emotions. Yeah, but what you do with
- 20:32Speaker 2: those emotions is what is necessarily valid or not valid.
- 20:36Speaker 3: It takes a lot of self control, but I think
- 20:38Speaker 3: it's such a good skill to have. Okay, one of
- 20:41Speaker 3: my favorites is you can't heal in the same environment
- 20:46Speaker 3: that made you sick.
- 20:49Speaker 5: A laming the studio. How fucking good is that? I
- 20:57Speaker 5: don't even need to elaborate a flash as to.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Like every toxic relationship I've ever had where you just
- 21:08Speaker 2: try and you try to.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Fix it and it's broken. Bitch. Yeah, Oh my god.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I feel like this could apply to so many things.
- 21:17Speaker 3: It's like toxic friendships, romantic relationships, workplaces, even relationships with
- 21:22Speaker 3: your family, and how sometimes you need to physically remove
- 21:27Speaker 3: yourself from the situation to get better.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Do you know what it reminds me of.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It reminds me of all the people that like constantly
- 21:33Speaker 2: say as soon as they gave a relationship space and
- 21:37Speaker 2: I'm not talking like romantically, I mean more like friendships
- 21:39Speaker 2: or family.
- 21:40Speaker 1: How much healthier that that became.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Like people that you know don't live with their siblings anymore,
- 21:46Speaker 2: and how that's when they finally became friends or friends
- 21:50Speaker 2: that moved away from their friendship group and that actually
- 21:53Speaker 2: helped them have a little bit more balance and move
- 21:55Speaker 2: away from group think mentality, and how getting out of
- 21:59Speaker 2: the toxic and bye moment shock helps.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I know that's really good.
- 22:05Speaker 2: That's my forehead. Put that ship on a shirt.
- 22:12Speaker 3: I think this is a nice one. Everyone is doing
- 22:14Speaker 3: their best with the knowledge and tools they have available
- 22:17Speaker 3: to them. Oh wait, this is another good one too.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Find people that make time for you, not those who
- 22:24Speaker 3: see you in their free time.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Boom boom, out of my drownag.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Suck.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Hey, yo, that's the best thing.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I like what that was amazing. You're welcome. I love it. Oh, okay,
- 23:01Speaker 1: hit me. Since our last one, this is our phinal one.
- 23:05Speaker 2: They left you confused because clarity would have meant accountability.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Sing it. Oh my god?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Yeah, oh do you know what. We've said it once
- 23:27Speaker 2: and we'll say it again. He wires a bunch of chicks.
- 23:30Speaker 1: You are I love you, guys. I love you guys.
- 23:33Speaker 4: All right, shall we get into advice with the chicks.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Let's do it.
- 23:42Speaker 2: I've been dealing with a problem that is technically not mine,
- 23:45Speaker 2: but I have now been involved, so I feel like
- 23:47Speaker 2: I need to do something about it. I've recently found
- 23:50Speaker 2: out that the husband of one of my close friends
- 23:53Speaker 2: let's call her Emma, is cheating on her.
- 23:56Speaker 1: You fucking dog, You dumb dog.
- 24:00Speaker 2: I found out through another friend, let's call her Amy,
- 24:03Speaker 2: who this guy has texted and snapped, knowing that Amy
- 24:06Speaker 2: knows Emma and they have mutual friends as well. Amy
- 24:10Speaker 2: told me immediately, and at first we thought he might
- 24:13Speaker 2: have reached out because he thought they were good friends.
- 24:16Speaker 2: After a while, the vibe seemed off, so Amy stopped responding.
- 24:20Speaker 2: We had decided to tell Emma, but this couple is
- 24:23Speaker 2: long distance, and Emma was struggling, so we couldn't find
- 24:26Speaker 2: a way to tell her. She was going to visit
- 24:29Speaker 2: her husband soon, and he also stopped texting Amy, so we.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Let it go.
- 24:34Speaker 2: But he started texting Amy again while Emma was right there.
- 24:40Speaker 2: At this time, he was telling Amy that he wanted
- 24:42Speaker 2: to see her, etc. We tried to contact Emma to
- 24:46Speaker 2: see if something was wrong, but she was absolutely blissful
- 24:50Speaker 2: about finally getting to spend time with her husband. Oh fuck,
- 24:55Speaker 2: they are back to long distance. Now and have plans
- 24:57Speaker 2: to be together soon permanently.
- 25:00Speaker 1: What do I do?
- 25:01Speaker 2: My instinct is to tell her, but I don't know,
- 25:04Speaker 2: and even more worried about how she will take it.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Oh my god, tell her, I think.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I just think if I was in that position, I
- 25:14Speaker 3: would want to know. And as much as you of
- 25:17Speaker 3: course want your friend to be happy, I just don't
- 25:20Speaker 3: think that it's I just don't think it's right because
- 25:25Speaker 3: she's happy under false pretenses, like she doesn't have the
- 25:28Speaker 3: full story, and if she had that information, maybe she
- 25:31Speaker 3: wouldn't be as happy with the relationship, I assume. But
- 25:35Speaker 3: also then that gives her the power to bring this
- 25:38Speaker 3: up with him, And do you know what, that's not
- 25:40Speaker 3: necessarily a deal breaker her.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot a lot of people get through, you know,
- 25:45Speaker 2: cheating within their relationships because as the episode with Susie Kim,
- 25:49Speaker 2: who is a relationship expert, she said that sometimes cheating
- 25:54Speaker 2: is the thing that allows couples to put a spotlight
- 25:57Speaker 2: onto what's lacking in the relationship. Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I still think he's a piece of dog shit.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Same but I also am like, because there is the
- 26:08Speaker 2: argument that you would say, well, you have to tell
- 26:11Speaker 2: you tell him that he has to tell her, right, Yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 2: and you give him the space and the timeframe to
- 26:18Speaker 2: be honest with his partner, because maybe it's better.
- 26:20Speaker 1: To come from him.
- 26:21Speaker 2: And I don't know if I'm cynical for this, but
- 26:24Speaker 2: I just don't trust that he would be completely honest,
- 26:27Speaker 2: Like I feel like he'd be like, hey, look like
- 26:29Speaker 2: the girls just told me that to like to like,
- 26:31Speaker 2: I've sent a couple of messages, but I didn't mean
- 26:33Speaker 2: anything by it, like it was just like, yeah, half asked,
- 26:36Speaker 2: but like I just want to like, but that's just
- 26:39Speaker 2: me being cynical, Like maybe he would be very open.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And honest and blah blah blah blah.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Yeah, but I just doubt it that.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I am also of the mindset that if this was
- 26:49Speaker 2: happening to you, for example, you best fucking believe I'm
- 26:53Speaker 2: telling you.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah, And also she's your friend. Yeah, it's not even
- 26:58Speaker 3: like the hay girly message from A because.
- 27:00Speaker 2: I would feel betrayed if I found out that my
- 27:04Speaker 2: boyfriend was cheating on me and my best friend knew
- 27:06Speaker 2: about it and didn't tell me, that would be like
- 27:10Speaker 2: double whammy. Yeah, you've got to tell her, You've got
- 27:13Speaker 2: to tell her, And I Yeah, I don't know if
- 27:15Speaker 2: it's the right advice to be like, fuck that guy
- 27:19Speaker 2: like he should. He has lost his right to like
- 27:23Speaker 2: be able to own up to it. He can own
- 27:25Speaker 2: up to it when she confronts him.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I was going to say, you'll still have his chance.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The other thing that I do want to say, though,
- 27:30Speaker 2: is we did have a similar dilemma to this on
- 27:34Speaker 2: two Broke Chicks, like on ig where were like anonymously
- 27:38Speaker 2: someone anonymously sent it in and asked what they should do,
- 27:40Speaker 2: And I put a poll up to kind of see
- 27:43Speaker 2: what people also wanted to contribute as part of the advice,
- 27:48Speaker 2: And one of the responses that did come through a
- 27:52Speaker 2: couple of times was from women who had been cheated on,
- 27:56Speaker 2: and they very often said, you'd be surper how many
- 28:00Speaker 2: times the woman does actually know.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, So I.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Think there's also that point in mind that you know,
- 28:08Speaker 2: she might also be like your friend Emma might also
- 28:10Speaker 2: be really really embarrassed, and she may become defensive. Yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and she may put the blame on you for bringing
- 28:19Speaker 2: such a negative piece of information into her.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Relationship, shooting the messenger.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so when you tell her, if you tell her,
- 28:30Speaker 2: just prepare yourself for the potential of that happening.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Obviously, it's not your fault.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Obviously you were trying to do the right thing, but
- 28:37Speaker 2: there is potential that it's your fault she's found this out,
- 28:41Speaker 2: not her partner's fault for actually doing it. Yeah, I'm
- 28:47Speaker 2: not saying that's right, but I'm saying there's potential that
- 28:49Speaker 2: that could happen. But yeah, Like, all I know is
- 28:53Speaker 2: what I would do, And if it was you or
- 28:56Speaker 2: any of our other friends, I'm kicking the fucking door
- 28:59Speaker 2: in and being.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Like, I've got a bottle of wine. We're gonna drink this.
- 29:03Speaker 2: First, Yeah, and then I'm gonna tell you that I've
- 29:06Speaker 2: got some news. I've got a slider show presentation where
- 29:09Speaker 2: every second slide is Henry cavill as a palate cleanser.
- 29:12Speaker 1: M Oh, that's horrible.
- 29:15Speaker 6: That's a good strategy, though, I hope, Okay, Amy's a
- 29:19Speaker 6: good girl too, To be honest, I wonder whether it
- 29:23Speaker 6: should come from Amy hope.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Like she's the one that was in bold.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so I wonder whether it's best for it to
- 29:32Speaker 2: come from Amy or But then I'm like, is it
- 29:35Speaker 2: safer for it to come to her best friend? And
- 29:37Speaker 2: then her best friend's like, Amy's so happy to speak
- 29:39Speaker 2: to you about it as well.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but didn't want to make you uncomfortable.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I've never been in this position, and I hope I
- 29:43Speaker 1: never fucking am you never will be.
- 29:45Speaker 3: But I think as one final note, you mentioned that
- 29:48Speaker 3: you're worried about how it will affect her, especially given
- 29:52Speaker 3: that she's so happy at the moment, and all you
- 29:53Speaker 3: can do with that is just be there for her
- 29:56Speaker 3: and support her through it, because that's really all you
- 29:59Speaker 3: can do. But I think that you'd be doing the
- 30:00Speaker 3: right thing by telling her, yeah.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Good sounding your love and kisses and hatred and despair
- 30:07Speaker 2: to a dozen eggs. They're hard to get at the moment,
- 30:10Speaker 2: but we'll lock them down for you.
- 30:12Speaker 4: We'll do a brand collapse and I'll get.
- 30:15Speaker 1: You some eggs. We'll get you some eggs. I'll be like,
- 30:17Speaker 1: all right, I GA what you got. We'll do contra
- 30:20Speaker 1: gifted partnership.
- 30:22Speaker 2: You can I get twelve dozen eggs and we'll do
- 30:24Speaker 2: a shout out on the pod.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Perfect that can be the next like broake Chicks, made
- 30:28Speaker 3: Up Well Chicks.
- 30:29Speaker 2: That is a wrap for today's episode of Two Broke
- 30:32Speaker 2: chicky Chicks were just literally mouthed microphone.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I feel like that was a bit of an unhinged
- 30:43Speaker 1: but thanks for.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Coming along, right and I'll just focus something with my
- 30:47Speaker 3: friends going on.
- 30:50Speaker 4: This hit needs to eat my fucking ass.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm over it.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Love you chicks, big kisses, big smooches, and boom boom
- 30:59Speaker 2: boom claps after my double I'm sorry.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Thanks to m I K made for many times I
- 31:05Speaker 1: was saying I'm in
- 31:09Speaker 2: Wait.
