- 0:10Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode fourteen of Ravellio for March six,
- 0:15Speaker 1: twenty twenty five.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm Nicole, I'm Amy, and we are missing Tom today,
- 0:35Speaker 2: but we have a wonderful stand in host Marchalaane is
- 0:40Speaker 2: with us now and Marjo is a host of Popcorn
- 0:43Speaker 2: Therapy podcast as well as on staff for the French
- 0:47Speaker 2: Harry Potter fansite Lagazette dou Sorcerer, Did I say it right?
- 0:51Speaker 3: Almost close?
- 0:53Speaker 1: And I was gonna say, I've got French in my
- 0:56Speaker 1: news as well. And Margo, if you listen to you know,
- 0:59Speaker 1: our episode, we just constantly butchered the French and so ah, yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 2: No worries.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, like I said, you so Sie, but that's almost that.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Sounds when you say that. And Marjo was also, of
- 1:18Speaker 2: course a former co host. I'm speak Beastie, So yay,
- 1:24Speaker 2: we're so excited.
- 1:26Speaker 3: A little Beastie reunion.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yes. So for our listeners who are not familiar with you,
- 1:35Speaker 2: can you maybe introduce yourself and how you got involved
- 1:38Speaker 2: in the Harry Potter fandom.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah, so, like you probably guessed, I'm French and yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 3: so i I'm a pottohead since my childhood, since uh
- 1:55Speaker 3: eleven years old because I was exactly eleven when the
- 1:58Speaker 3: first movie came out, and I waited the movie to
- 2:01Speaker 3: start reading the book. The books after that, and I
- 2:06Speaker 3: got involved in the fandom much later, because I guess
- 2:11Speaker 3: it was Fantastic Beasts that got me involved really creating
- 2:16Speaker 3: things with the fandom, because I was very excited with
- 2:20Speaker 3: this new franchise and I was already listening to podcasts
- 2:26Speaker 3: before that. I started listening to Aloho Mora for the
- 2:30Speaker 3: people who know this one, and so I was aware
- 2:35Speaker 3: as soon as Bigbst started that this podcast will Will
- 2:39Speaker 3: Will cover the Fantastic Beasts franchise. So I was one
- 2:43Speaker 3: of the first listeners to these podcasts. And yeah, a
- 2:47Speaker 3: few a few years later I joined, I joined the team,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and at the same time I joined leg and I
- 2:57Speaker 3: started podcasts with them too. So I have a couple
- 3:01Speaker 3: of podcasts of French port centered podcast. I have a
- 3:07Speaker 3: French version of Portoversity if you if you know this one,
- 3:11Speaker 3: So yeah, we do also this very academic analysis with
- 3:19Speaker 3: a specialists in French. Of course in our podcast with
- 3:25Speaker 3: with like I said, so yeah, that's me. I'm still
- 3:28Speaker 3: doing that. Even if speak BUSTI is on big Pose
- 3:35Speaker 3: in limited post and met we are ready to to
- 3:37Speaker 3: restarted as soon as one day the this franchise we
- 3:42Speaker 3: will will be We're born like Phoenix. I'm sure still
- 3:48Speaker 3: hoping that we will be able to to go back
- 3:52Speaker 3: to Speak Pisti one day, but we'll see.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Hm, we're ready, w B. Whenever you're we're ready, just
- 4:02Speaker 2: send us the bad signal.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So in this episode, we'll be discussing unanswered questions from
- 4:13Speaker 1: the Fantastic Beast series because we figured while we have
- 4:16Speaker 1: Marjo here and former Speak BEASTI, that we should talk
- 4:20Speaker 1: about Fantastic Beasts.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But first.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Listening to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network now
- 4:34Speaker 2: for the latest headlines.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So get ready to listen to me talk for a
- 4:38Speaker 1: little bit here because we have lots of news for
- 4:41Speaker 1: this episode. So first we may or may not have
- 4:47Speaker 1: our first official TV show casting. Maybe we'll see. Actor
- 4:54Speaker 1: John Lithgow says he has accepted the role to play
- 4:57Speaker 1: Elvis Dumbledore in the upcoming HBO.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Harry Potter series.
- 5:02Speaker 1: This news broke from an interview that Lithgo did with
- 5:06Speaker 1: Screen Rant while he was promoting another one of his films,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and he's quoted as saying well, it came as a
- 5:12Speaker 1: total surprise to me. I just got the phone call
- 5:15Speaker 1: up at the sun Dance Film Festival for yet another film,
- 5:18Speaker 1: and it was not an easy decision because it's going
- 5:21Speaker 1: to define me for the last chapter of my life,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I'm afraid, but I'm very excited. Some wonderful people are
- 5:28Speaker 1: turning their attention back to Harry Potter. That's why it's
- 5:31Speaker 1: been such a hard decision. I'll be about eighty seven
- 5:34Speaker 1: years old at the rat party, but I've said yes, so,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I mean, it seems like he's accepted the role. However,
- 5:43Speaker 1: HBO is still sticking by their statements of we will
- 5:47Speaker 1: only confirm details as we finalize deals. So the actor
- 5:51Speaker 1: says he's doing it. HBOS statement seems to indicate that
- 5:55Speaker 1: maybe the deal just isn't a final yet. Do we
- 5:59Speaker 1: think John just release this info before he was supposed to,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and now he's gotten a lot of calls from.
- 6:06Speaker 4: HBO like what should do? And John?
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, this was such a bizarre way for that to
- 6:14Speaker 2: come out, Like, I find it very hard to believe
- 6:17Speaker 2: that they didn't have people signing NDAs.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I mean, maybe he's at the stage of his life
- 6:24Speaker 1: where he's like but what you're gonna do?
- 6:27Speaker 3: Fire me, like, I mean, they still can if did you.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yes, if they're not happy with that, yes, I mean
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think that this probably seems the most legitimate rumor
- 6:45Speaker 1: of you know, casting thing that's come out, and so
- 6:49Speaker 1: I personally believe that this is likely. And it's just
- 6:54Speaker 1: he released it before HBO was ready for him to.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Right, because for him to say it, like the actor
- 7:03Speaker 2: is not going to say it if they're not going
- 7:05Speaker 2: to do it, So it's gotta be pretty far along
- 7:08Speaker 2: in the deal process, you would think.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so, And I think just the way
- 7:13Speaker 1: that he kind of referred to it and everything, and yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: so it'll be really interesting to see if now like
- 7:20Speaker 1: HBO kind of like scrambles to try to make an
- 7:23Speaker 1: official announcement sooner than they were planning to, because obviously
- 7:27Speaker 1: at this point a lot of new sources have just
- 7:30Speaker 1: run with this and reported it as an official confirmation.
- 7:33Speaker 1: So if he is being offered the role, they might
- 7:37Speaker 1: as well just officially say it. I don't know what,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know, what they're waiting for their I mean, I
- 7:43Speaker 1: have seen a lot of discourse online about his casting,
- 7:48Speaker 1: specifically about him being an American actor, and you know
- 7:52Speaker 1: a lot of people just wanting this to stay with
- 7:54Speaker 1: an all British cast like the films were. And then
- 7:59Speaker 1: also I've seen just a lot of concern about his
- 8:01Speaker 1: age and just obviously the longevity of how long ATV
- 8:04Speaker 1: series will run, which he obviously also alludes to when
- 8:08Speaker 1: he says, you know, I will be eighty seven years
- 8:10Speaker 1: old at the time of finishing this project.
- 8:12Speaker 3: So yeah, it's it's interesting that that's the first thing
- 8:16Speaker 3: that he talked about. That's it's his age and the
- 8:20Speaker 3: fact that, yeah, it's ten years long project, so that's
- 8:26Speaker 3: and he is almost eighty. So yeah, that's I mean, yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 3: I guess he's a great actor.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I see.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I saw him in a lot of different role in
- 8:39Speaker 3: He's very very interesting actor. He he played Churchill in
- 8:43Speaker 3: The Crown, so I guess he earned his British badge there.
- 8:48Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm I'm happy about the type of actor
- 8:53Speaker 3: that he is. But yeah, I'm also a bit concerned
- 8:57Speaker 3: about his age. And I don't really care that he's
- 9:04Speaker 3: American here, knowing that he already played British people in them.
- 9:13Speaker 3: But I heard that it might be an indication that
- 9:16Speaker 3: they might struggle to find British actor that accept the rule,
- 9:21Speaker 3: so that could be a good indication of that that
- 9:27Speaker 3: they have to turn to American actors.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think too that it's obviously it's
- 9:35Speaker 1: a long commitment, and I know that you know, there
- 9:39Speaker 1: is this I mean, he doesn't have to really worry
- 9:41Speaker 1: about being type cast, right because he's a very established
- 9:44Speaker 1: actor and is it you know, in the later stages
- 9:46Speaker 1: of his life.
- 9:47Speaker 4: But it is a big.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Commitment, right, and so you really have to kind of
- 9:51Speaker 1: weigh is this what I want to be the main
- 9:53Speaker 1: focus of my work for the next ten years. But
- 9:58Speaker 1: I mean, at least from the interview, the clip and everything,
- 10:00Speaker 1: he seems like excited, So I guess we'll see. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: also saw somebody interviewing Ralph Findes and bringing up Killian
- 10:10Speaker 1: Murphy as Baltimore again and asking his opinion on if
- 10:15Speaker 1: how he would feel if Killy and Murphy was took
- 10:19Speaker 1: on the role of Baltimore, so that one also continues
- 10:22Speaker 1: to be floating around a bit as well.
- 10:25Speaker 3: That would be so cool. Yeah, yea, I would too.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And I think my biggest kind of my biggest thing
- 10:32Speaker 1: with like thinking about when the rumors of him kind
- 10:35Speaker 1: of started swirling is I just feel like he's too
- 10:38Speaker 1: big of an actor to take this on. But like
- 10:41Speaker 1: John Lithgow is a big actor as well, so like
- 10:43Speaker 1: I guess, it really just depends what they're feeling and what,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, if they want to commit to it. But yeah, yeah,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it's more to come. We'll see what how HBO decides
- 10:55Speaker 1: to officially respond to.
- 10:56Speaker 2: This, probably right after we record this episode, HBO will put.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Out of.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I'm also a bit curious about how John will response
- 11:11Speaker 3: the he can't escape the the the question about his
- 11:17Speaker 3: view on rollings, how do we say that crap? I mean,
- 11:28Speaker 3: the thing is John Lethgow is also pretty a political actor.
- 11:33Speaker 3: He does a lot of activism, So yeah, I'm very
- 11:39Speaker 3: curious about that because I don't see him be silent
- 11:44Speaker 3: about this type of thing, knowing that he did he
- 11:49Speaker 3: did things for AGBT plus community. So yeah, I'm curious.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll see for sure what happens.
- 12:02Speaker 1: But this is definitely the most official thing that we've
- 12:05Speaker 1: gotten so far. So then next here is we have
- 12:13Speaker 1: a new Harry Potter shop that's going to be opening
- 12:16Speaker 1: in Chicago. And this shop will be opening on April tenth,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and Mina Lima has also confirmed that they will also
- 12:24Speaker 1: have a house of Mina Lima as part of this
- 12:26Speaker 1: store as well. And I think what's the most exciting
- 12:29Speaker 1: thing about this store is it's not going to just
- 12:32Speaker 1: be a replica of the store that's already in New
- 12:35Speaker 1: York City. This store is obviously opening the same year
- 12:39Speaker 1: as the twentieth anniversary of Goblet of Fire, and so
- 12:42Speaker 1: they're using that to inspire the interior of the store.
- 12:47Speaker 1: So it's going to focus on themes from Goblet of Fire,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and so there will be like the mermaid stained glass
- 12:52Speaker 1: window inspired by the Prefect's bathroom. There is going to
- 12:56Speaker 1: be suspended broomsticks on fire as a nod to the
- 12:59Speaker 1: first task, and then also amaze pattern floor that of
- 13:04Speaker 1: course leads you right to the register area you can
- 13:08Speaker 1: check out all your merchandise and spend all your money,
- 13:11Speaker 1: and then the Goblet Fire is obviously going to be
- 13:13Speaker 1: there as well as a centerpiece. So I think this
- 13:17Speaker 1: is really cool in a nod to like their opening
- 13:19Speaker 1: year and the way they're tying that in and so
- 13:23Speaker 1: that's exciting.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my favorite part of the New York store too,
- 13:29Speaker 2: is just all the different props and stuff and how
- 13:32Speaker 2: like seamlessly they're integrated into the decorations. I just think
- 13:36Speaker 2: it's so cool. So can't wait to see pictures of
- 13:39Speaker 2: all the Goblin fire stuff.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I know, I really want to go because they have
- 13:44Speaker 1: they've posted some pictures of the like the Chicago specific
- 13:48Speaker 1: merch that's coming, and they have a great spirit I mean,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you know me, I'm always talking about merchan on this podcast,
- 13:53Speaker 1: all right, right, right, So they have a spirit jersey
- 13:58Speaker 1: that is like a like beige ivory color with like
- 14:04Speaker 1: the white font and it's so pretty. And I don't
- 14:07Speaker 1: know if it's going to be like exclusive to Chicago
- 14:09Speaker 1: or if it's a collection that'll come to the New
- 14:10Speaker 1: York store as well. But I'm like, man, well now
- 14:12Speaker 1: I need to go because I need that Spirit jersey.
- 14:18Speaker 3: The exclusive New York merriage is very cool, so I'm
- 14:22Speaker 3: expecting them to do something very cool for Chicago too.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So yeah, can't wait to see that.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I think I was gonna say Amy and I are
- 14:34Speaker 1: actually both wearing the New York stuff.
- 14:37Speaker 4: We did not plan this, yeah, I have.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I have a big mug. I should have brought that to.
- 14:46Speaker 4: We did not plan this at all.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Telepathic telepathic yep.
- 14:52Speaker 1: But yeah, and I think this is exciting too because
- 14:53Speaker 1: I think we'll probably get more of these stores popping
- 14:55Speaker 1: up through other cities. I'm sure eventually we'll probably get
- 14:59Speaker 1: one on the West in LA. And yeah, just exciting.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So more to come on that. It'll be interesting to
- 15:05Speaker 1: see if we also if there will be any of
- 15:07Speaker 1: like those interactive things coming to the store. Obviously New
- 15:11Speaker 1: York has tried a couple different things, and we know
- 15:15Speaker 1: Tom talked about going recently and experiencing the Broomstick experience,
- 15:18Speaker 1: so more to.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Come if it will also be at the Chicago location.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And speaking of Mina Lima as well, we talked several
- 15:29Speaker 1: episodes ago about how it was announced that Mina Lima
- 15:33Speaker 1: would sadly not be returning to work on the new
- 15:37Speaker 1: interactive illustrated editions that we're getting of the series, but
- 15:41Speaker 1: we recently did get confirmation that the series is continuing
- 15:45Speaker 1: without them, with a new illustrator named Carl James Mountford
- 15:51Speaker 1: and Jess Tys Gilbert will be working on the interactive
- 15:54Speaker 1: papercraft elements. So we did get a new cover as
- 15:59Speaker 1: well as some sneak peeks at the upcoming interactive illustrated
- 16:03Speaker 1: edition of Garblet a Fire and this edition is going
- 16:06Speaker 1: to be available on book shelves later this year in October,
- 16:10Speaker 1: on the fourteenth of October.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm very confused because they definitely are they were
- 16:26Speaker 3: it's very soon to have this, uh, this announcement and
- 16:29Speaker 3: this this preview after they announced that they will not
- 16:33Speaker 3: continue with with Minanimas, So it indicates that they must
- 16:38Speaker 3: have prepared that since a while ago and we just
- 16:42Speaker 3: got the announcement later. But and the fact that they
- 16:48Speaker 3: they can't make the exact same thing that Minanima did,
- 16:52Speaker 3: but at the same times they are very close in style.
- 16:56Speaker 3: But that's the this uh, this style is Minanimas. They
- 17:00Speaker 3: it's their brand, it's and it's what they asked them
- 17:03Speaker 3: to do because they were already doing that with the
- 17:06Speaker 3: other books, and that it's not that or not Harry Potters.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So I'm completely because at the same time and when
- 17:16Speaker 3: i'm it looks good. And I don't know if you
- 17:20Speaker 3: if you looked at the other work of Carl James Montford,
- 17:24Speaker 3: but he's a great artist. I love his work. I
- 17:28Speaker 3: really really love love his work. And actually I find
- 17:32Speaker 3: that he made prototype of Harry Potter cover for the
- 17:37Speaker 3: first book for the first for Philosopher's Tone, and it's
- 17:42Speaker 3: very pretty, and I wish we got that the pure
- 17:47Speaker 3: this purely his style and not a copy of Minanima.
- 17:52Speaker 3: But at the same times, I'm happy to continue my collection.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So right right now, and it's hard because it's like
- 17:59Speaker 1: I know on hand it's like you. It's it's nice
- 18:03Speaker 1: that it has a similar style and like the cover
- 18:06Speaker 1: and everything is very similar, so it's going to continue
- 18:09Speaker 1: to look like a cohesive set. But at the same time,
- 18:12Speaker 1: right it's kind of just like, why didn't we just
- 18:15Speaker 1: continue with mean A Lima, because you know, and I
- 18:17Speaker 1: think we had talked about how it really seems like
- 18:19Speaker 1: it wasn't mean A Lima's decision to not continue, And
- 18:25Speaker 1: I'm sure it had to come down to cost and
- 18:27Speaker 1: money because that's everything in business, I feel like, but
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's like, if we were going to keep it so similar,
- 18:35Speaker 1: like we should have just kept me in a Lima
- 18:37Speaker 1: on And I do feel for like this new illustrator
- 18:41Speaker 1: because like on the announcement of this book like this
- 18:45Speaker 1: on social media, the comments are just flooded with we
- 18:50Speaker 1: wish this was mean Alama, where's me?
- 18:51Speaker 4: And a Lima? Like why did we just copy me
- 18:53Speaker 4: in a Lima?
- 18:54Speaker 1: And you know, like you said, Margo, I think that,
- 18:56Speaker 1: like he is an excellent illustrator, and it's kind of
- 18:59Speaker 1: like also not fair to him in a way to
- 19:03Speaker 1: have to kind of step in now and kind of
- 19:05Speaker 1: get this backlash almost because it's not mean a Lima
- 19:08Speaker 1: when you know, like he is a very deserving artist.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But it's just obviously we're all going to be very
- 19:15Speaker 1: sad for the whole series that it's not mean a Lima.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And I think again, like that style, right, It's it's
- 19:20Speaker 1: not even just about the art style. It's about the
- 19:24Speaker 1: design of the book with the interactive features, like that
- 19:27Speaker 1: is mean a Lima. And it's like you're kind of
- 19:31Speaker 1: in this hard place of like I don't know, I mean,
- 19:34Speaker 1: I guess with I don't I don't know. I don't
- 19:36Speaker 1: think that they would have ever just stopped them either,
- 19:39Speaker 1: Like so I'm not surprised that we got a new
- 19:41Speaker 1: one with a new artist of similar style, Like I'm
- 19:43Speaker 1: not surprised because it's like obviously we had an illustrator
- 19:47Speaker 1: change with the other illustrated editions we have too, like
- 19:50Speaker 1: we in those books still look cohesive as well, so
- 19:54Speaker 1: we've kind of dealt with this before, but.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Well, still waiting the following of of Jim k illustrated
- 20:03Speaker 3: books were still it's been well, I don't know.
- 20:08Speaker 1: I think we only have the Goblet of Fire.
- 20:10Speaker 3: I think still I have Order of the Phoenix. I
- 20:13Speaker 3: think maybe we have yeah, yeah, but we are waiting.
- 20:19Speaker 3: Order of the Phoenix came out two three years, four
- 20:23Speaker 3: years ago, and maybe two years two or three years,
- 20:27Speaker 3: but we're still waiting. Yeah, but there they are. They're
- 20:33Speaker 3: already ready to have the the next book, but I'm
- 20:38Speaker 3: expecting less interactive elementing it if it's a cost uh
- 20:47Speaker 3: reason that they moved from Minanima. Maybe Minanima didn't want
- 20:50Speaker 3: it to to do the following books cheaper and with
- 20:56Speaker 3: less of their specificity of the interactive elements. And we
- 21:01Speaker 3: know they will be because they show us preview and
- 21:06Speaker 3: they still we still have interactive elements, but I'm expecting
- 21:09Speaker 3: less of it too.
- 21:12Speaker 2: That's a longer book too, so naturally.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know because the third one, the third
- 21:17Speaker 3: one is already huge in the Minanima edition, so I
- 21:21Speaker 3: don't know what it would look like for yeah, the Fall, Yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I can't imagine.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I just once they get past that with the right,
- 21:30Speaker 1: with the size of the book and just adding all
- 21:32Speaker 1: those insids, like it's just gonna Yeah, I don't know
- 21:35Speaker 1: how you stick to that dimension of the book as
- 21:38Speaker 1: you add more into it.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I just feel I feel just icky
- 21:44Speaker 2: about this whole. I don't know. It's putting the new
- 21:48Speaker 2: artist in a really crappy position. It's I can't imagine
- 21:54Speaker 2: you can like copy a style so closely and not
- 21:59Speaker 2: open yourself up to a lawsuit.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was. At the same time, it's
- 22:07Speaker 3: different enough because they moved from the medieval style with
- 22:11Speaker 3: Minnima to a more article style with this new illustration illustrators,
- 22:18Speaker 3: So maybe it's different enough. But yeah, I'm very very
- 22:22Speaker 3: curious about what happened of Yeah, what we don't know
- 22:28Speaker 3: about what happened between all these actors, because between the
- 22:34Speaker 3: two illustrators and the editions and the editors, it's yeah, mystery.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Maybe one day we knew we will know the details.
- 22:44Speaker 1: But yeah, but yes, it'll be out in October, so
- 22:50Speaker 1: what we will see that and what the whatever.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Was and I will buy it, of course.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yes, I'm an idea have to say, I do really
- 23:00Speaker 1: like the cover and the colors and and of course
- 23:04Speaker 1: it looks beautiful. So yeah, but I will always just
- 23:09Speaker 1: be salty. It's not mena lima. And well, moving on
- 23:17Speaker 1: from that, we have lots of theme park news, lots
- 23:23Speaker 1: of theme park news. So the first here is we
- 23:28Speaker 1: learned about some new magical experiences and a new second
- 23:31Speaker 1: generation interactive wands that are coming to the Wizarding World
- 23:35Speaker 1: of Harry Potter and Universal Orlando. They're actually available now
- 23:39Speaker 1: at the time of us recording in this episode coming out,
- 23:41Speaker 1: they were available on March first. So the new ones
- 23:45Speaker 1: are available in four different designs, and they feature both
- 23:49Speaker 1: light and haptic feedback which is custom to each spell
- 23:53Speaker 1: that you perform with them, and they can also be
- 23:55Speaker 1: integrated in the Universal app with something called Universal Play.
- 24:01Speaker 1: So these the second generation of interactive wands. They're coming
- 24:03Speaker 1: in a new wand box, and there will be a
- 24:08Speaker 1: spell map included with them like the regular wands, and
- 24:12Speaker 1: they'll outline all the places that you can perform spells
- 24:14Speaker 1: throughout the park and then also instructions of how you
- 24:17Speaker 1: can connect your wand to that Universal Play app. So
- 24:21Speaker 1: with this, they also have added new and have also
- 24:24Speaker 1: enhanced the Wand Magic locations throughout the park. So they've
- 24:29Speaker 1: added five new interactive Wand locations throughout Hogsmead and Diagon Alley.
- 24:36Speaker 1: And I have seen some clips online of people that
- 24:41Speaker 1: went to go check them out, you know, opening day,
- 24:43Speaker 1: and they look really cool. It seems like they are
- 24:47Speaker 1: challenging and also seem to look better at night, is
- 24:52Speaker 1: what the first reviews I've seen are. So one of
- 24:55Speaker 1: them is the Dueling Club tent, which is going to
- 24:58Speaker 1: be in Hogsmead. This is the one I've been pecifically
- 25:00Speaker 1: seen some reviews of, and with this one, you can
- 25:03Speaker 1: cast a spell to bring an abandoned dueling dummy to
- 25:06Speaker 1: life and test your dueling spells ability.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So this is funny because when we were there in December,
- 25:17Speaker 2: we got a little heads up that there was some
- 25:20Speaker 2: construction going on by the castle and this tent was there,
- 25:24Speaker 2: and I was like, are they moving the entrance of
- 25:27Speaker 2: the ride, and like that was the only thing I
- 25:30Speaker 2: could think of, But now it makes sense that's what
- 25:33Speaker 2: we were saying.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Well, that's I'm glad you brought that up, because when
- 25:37Speaker 1: I was looking at the videos on Instagram of it,
- 25:41Speaker 1: I was trying to picture where in Hogsmeade they put
- 25:44Speaker 1: this because it's a pretty sizable tent.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it's by the lockers for forbidden if it's what
- 25:53Speaker 2: I'm thinking of, But like it's gotta be because the timing.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that would make sense because like I said, it
- 26:00Speaker 1: is a pretty sizable like tent, and I'm just like, gosh,
- 26:04Speaker 1: where did they fit this in?
- 26:07Speaker 2: If it is the same spot. It's like, you know
- 26:11Speaker 2: how the queue used to go outside farther, like they
- 26:14Speaker 2: had more outside option, which now like you don't really need,
- 26:17Speaker 2: like they only use that right when it opened. It's
- 26:20Speaker 2: like in that area.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Gotcha? Interesting? Interesting?
- 26:26Speaker 1: But yeah, I have seen videos of this one like
- 26:28Speaker 1: in daylight and at night, and it does look a
- 26:30Speaker 1: lot better at night. You just get the like the
- 26:32Speaker 1: light feedback is obviously really hard to see I think
- 26:36Speaker 1: in like the Florida sun like during the day, so
- 26:38Speaker 1: at night it definitely looks cool. Another one that they've
- 26:43Speaker 1: added is at the owl post in Hogsmead, and there
- 26:46Speaker 1: so there'll be pixies that dart across the window and
- 26:49Speaker 1: try to hide behind the packages and then you try
- 26:52Speaker 1: to cast a spell to freeze them. And then the
- 26:57Speaker 1: other three are in New new one locations are in
- 27:00Speaker 1: Diagon Alley. So the first one is in Nocturne Alley
- 27:03Speaker 1: and one of the staircases, so this is where you'll
- 27:06Speaker 1: need to defend yourself by conjuring your patronas after a
- 27:10Speaker 1: dementor emerges in the dimly lit staircase. And also a
- 27:15Speaker 1: Nocturne alley they have with the sky and the ceiling
- 27:19Speaker 1: where you can cast a spell into that night sky
- 27:22Speaker 1: to either control a storm or you can do a
- 27:24Speaker 1: counter spell to.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Calm the sky, which is interesting, yes.
- 27:32Speaker 3: And then the other one, the Venus one. It reminds
- 27:37Speaker 3: me of the how is it called the experience the
- 27:41Speaker 3: Forbidden Journey, the Forbidden Forest experience in the oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 3: you could you can vetroness in the in the forest
- 27:54Speaker 3: that that was very cool.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And so far I've not seen I've not
- 28:00Speaker 1: been able to find any videos of like these ones
- 28:02Speaker 1: yet to see what it looks like, but I'm definitely
- 28:04Speaker 1: excited to see them kind of crop up on social media.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And then the last one that's newly added in Diagon
- 28:12Speaker 1: Alley is Aronde's Spinners, and this is where you'll need
- 28:17Speaker 1: to cast a spell to repel spiders. Of all different
- 28:19Speaker 1: sizes before the spiders take over the newspaper covered glass windows,
- 28:26Speaker 1: so you're terrified of spiders, maybe avoid this one. But
- 28:33Speaker 1: that's exciting that we're, you know, after all these years
- 28:36Speaker 1: of the parks being opened, that we're going to get
- 28:37Speaker 1: these new interactive WAND locations. And they've also updated the
- 28:42Speaker 1: existing WAND magic locations in both Hodsmaide and diagon Alley
- 28:46Speaker 1: as well to work with this as well as you know,
- 28:51Speaker 1: updating the magical spell books that provide the guidance. And yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 1: so now there's over thirty one magic locations across Hodsmaide
- 28:58Speaker 1: and diagon Alley with these new recasion.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that because from what I saw, the
- 29:07Speaker 3: these ones will be more expensive than the old one.
- 29:11Speaker 3: But at the same time, they are not just asking
- 29:17Speaker 3: us to pay more to just have a little light
- 29:20Speaker 3: more or I don't know, if they aren't really working
- 29:23Speaker 3: to make us feel okay with paying these extra VOTs
- 29:29Speaker 3: to get this new ones and have all these new experiences.
- 29:34Speaker 3: It will be the first time I go to to
- 29:36Speaker 3: the pack next next year. Yeah and so and so
- 29:42Speaker 3: I never had the chance to experience the old system,
- 29:46Speaker 3: but I'm so happy to have two would be able
- 29:50Speaker 3: to experience this new one because it's it looks far
- 29:54Speaker 3: more exciting than even if the deal system looks very cool,
- 30:00Speaker 3: but this thing is yeah, very very nice.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And what's interesting is we just talked about in a
- 30:08Speaker 1: recent episode the new maybe it was our last one,
- 30:12Speaker 1: the new ones that were released coming to Ministry Magic
- 30:17Speaker 1: and Epic Universe, And so it seems like we just
- 30:20Speaker 1: got that announcement. I was so excited about those, and
- 30:22Speaker 1: I already had picked out, like which ones I'm probably
- 30:24Speaker 1: gonna get, and like, now we get this announcement of
- 30:27Speaker 1: the second generation one which seems to only be the
- 30:30Speaker 1: specific four ones, And so now I'm like, I think,
- 30:35Speaker 1: right now it shows it's only four. I don't know
- 30:37Speaker 1: if we have confirmation or not if the ones coming
- 30:40Speaker 1: to the new Epic Universe will be the second generation
- 30:44Speaker 1: or not.
- 30:45Speaker 3: That's what I understood, but maybe I just yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 4: I just don't know that. I feel like it's not clear.
- 30:54Speaker 2: It would make sense if they were, because why would
- 30:57Speaker 2: you update all of the other Spellcast areas and not
- 31:02Speaker 2: have updated new like more advanced ones in your new park.
- 31:07Speaker 2: But yeah, it's really not clear, yea what.
- 31:12Speaker 3: They are they are updating the system for Epic Universe
- 31:16Speaker 3: because it was because of Epic Unions that they are
- 31:21Speaker 3: creating this new system, and they were probably thinking, yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 3: but we we can't make these new wones just for
- 31:29Speaker 3: Epick Universe. We need to to offer this new experience
- 31:33Speaker 3: also in the other back So that's why I'm expecting
- 31:37Speaker 3: the ones in Epic Universe to also be the new
- 31:41Speaker 3: generation Wones.
- 31:42Speaker 1: But yeah, that makes sense. I mean, yeah, that makes sense.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I think, yeah, right, I think right now, it's just
- 31:48Speaker 1: there's the four that are available, the new four that
- 31:51Speaker 1: they've introduced, and then all of the regular ones are
- 31:54Speaker 1: still available for purchase as well. But yeah, I hope
- 31:58Speaker 1: that that's definitely the case, because I'm not a super
- 32:00Speaker 1: huge fan of the four that were added, just with
- 32:05Speaker 1: my taste and my design.
- 32:06Speaker 2: So they're fine. The Epic ones are way prettier, They're
- 32:10Speaker 2: way more Yeah.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I was already thinking of what if my first day
- 32:16Speaker 3: in the Universal parks will be in the old parks.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I will I will have to wait for my first
- 32:25Speaker 3: day in the universe to get my want because and
- 32:28Speaker 3: go back to the other parks later because I would
- 32:30Speaker 3: have to chance to have enough days to to to
- 32:33Speaker 3: do that and not bother with the interactive experience the
- 32:38Speaker 3: first day. But yeah, that's I was already me. I
- 32:43Speaker 3: already made my mind to to get a French get Magic.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Absolutely, you need to, you have to.
- 32:54Speaker 1: But we'll see, I'm going to be in the parks
- 32:56Speaker 1: soon and the next couple of months here, so maybe
- 32:59Speaker 1: I'm they'll look you know, nicer. But yeah, we'll talk
- 33:03Speaker 1: about the price in a little bit here. But yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 1: that's also the part, the part of the problem is
- 33:07Speaker 1: the hefty price tag.
- 33:08Speaker 4: And so it's like to decide, yes, yep, yeah, the.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Sixty dollars is already like a little excessive in my opinion,
- 33:19Speaker 2: Like I feel like maybe forty dollars would be like
- 33:23Speaker 2: about right.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Yeah, eighty five a lot.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little crazy.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Yes, So yeah, well back to the Wan locations. There's
- 33:37Speaker 1: going to be fourteen of them in Ministry of Magic
- 33:40Speaker 1: and Epic Universe, and these ones will be obviously you know,
- 33:45Speaker 1: themed to that area. So there's going to be an
- 33:48Speaker 1: opportunity to go on and adventure to discover the Sorcerer's
- 33:50Speaker 1: Stone and also the ability to interact with magical creatures
- 33:55Speaker 1: such as the Niffler.
- 33:56Speaker 4: And the Demi guys. Yeah, so that's a sighting.
- 34:01Speaker 1: And a little bit more about kind of the interactive
- 34:04Speaker 1: ability of these. So when you connect the wand to
- 34:07Speaker 1: the Universal Play and the Universal Orlando App, you can
- 34:11Speaker 1: customize your wizarding story by creating your own wizard profile.
- 34:16Speaker 1: So in this wizard profile, you can select your wizard name,
- 34:19Speaker 1: your Hogwarts house, make an avatar, select your patronis, and
- 34:23Speaker 1: then when you cast spells throughout the park, whatever you
- 34:26Speaker 1: selected will be integral into the or integrated sorry into
- 34:31Speaker 1: the effects of your spell casting, so it'll really be
- 34:34Speaker 1: a personalized experience for each person, which is really cool.
- 34:39Speaker 1: And then your level of expertise at performing these spells
- 34:43Speaker 1: is also a factor, so you will have exclusive adventures
- 34:48Speaker 1: that kind of will be unlocked based on your level
- 34:50Speaker 1: expertise and your completion time. So yeah, I am not sometimes,
- 34:58Speaker 1: so practice up. And then also by selecting your Hogwarts house,
- 35:04Speaker 1: you can earn points for your Hogwarts House as you
- 35:07Speaker 1: complete spells, and each day the house that has the
- 35:10Speaker 1: most points will be awarded a house Cup. And then yes,
- 35:16Speaker 1: and then also in the app, with every visit you
- 35:18Speaker 1: have to the park, you'll be able to track like
- 35:21Speaker 1: the house points and also your Wizarding level progress as
- 35:24Speaker 1: well as achievements, spell work, all that kind of stuff.
- 35:27Speaker 4: So, as I mentioned, the higher your Wizarding.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Level, the more spells and adventures that will be unlocked
- 35:32Speaker 1: for you.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I was thinking of it because I'm planning to spend
- 35:39Speaker 3: a full week in Universal Bucks when I go there,
- 35:43Speaker 3: and I was thinking, oh, that's cool, I have time
- 35:47Speaker 3: to visit every corner of every box. I will be
- 35:51Speaker 3: trapped in the visiting world. I will just do just try.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I mean, I will say, yeah, it's running. And then
- 36:01Speaker 1: because it's like you want to unlock these other things, right, yeah,
- 36:03Speaker 1: you're like, God, I got to be good at this.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And it does take up time because you also have
- 36:08Speaker 1: to like wait in line for other people to do it,
- 36:11Speaker 1: and then everybody inevitably struggles and then it's and you've
- 36:14Speaker 1: got to wait for like the little like crew member
- 36:17Speaker 1: to come over and help, and like, it does take
- 36:19Speaker 1: up a lot of time.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I wasn't thinking about the fact that I will
- 36:24Speaker 3: not be alone trying to do these pairs. Yeah, maybe
- 36:27Speaker 3: I will not have the patience.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Just push the capital away. It's fine, they'll get over it.
- 36:34Speaker 2: It'll be a learning experience. Life is full of disappointments,
- 36:39Speaker 2: just push your way to the front and get through
- 36:41Speaker 2: them all.
- 36:45Speaker 4: But I think that this will be as well.
- 36:47Speaker 1: This will be nice as well for like repeat visitors,
- 36:50Speaker 1: because I know that, like I definitely, you know, did
- 36:55Speaker 1: want spells a lot more in my first visits to
- 36:58Speaker 1: the park, and then as I started going more, you know,
- 37:01Speaker 1: maybe I was like, I don't want to wait in
- 37:02Speaker 1: that line, like I've done that before. So it'll be
- 37:06Speaker 1: nice to kind of have this Like now it's like
- 37:09Speaker 1: this competition thing, right, like you're trying to get better
- 37:12Speaker 1: at it and level up your wizarding level and so
- 37:15Speaker 1: you can unlock all this other stuff. So now it
- 37:17Speaker 1: has that kind of repeat ability to it, which is nice.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So yeah, you can purchase this new collection of second
- 37:28Speaker 1: generation interactive wands, like I said, right now, at either
- 37:31Speaker 1: Olivander's wand Shop in Hogsmeat or Diagon Alley, as well
- 37:35Speaker 1: as Cosmes in Ministry of Magic when Epic Universe opens.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And I'm not gonna say the.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Whole thing because I don't want Marjoe to judge me
- 37:44Speaker 1: at my French.
- 37:46Speaker 3: So I will from the sitcom a causual, but maybe
- 37:51Speaker 3: they will.
- 37:51Speaker 4: See me, I don't know, I could see the Okay, okay,
- 37:55Speaker 4: we'll see. We'll see.
- 37:57Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see how it's how everybody pronounces it.
- 38:00Speaker 2: It's going to be a mess, a mishmash of different
- 38:05Speaker 2: American accents.
- 38:07Speaker 4: It's just it's gonna be rough. It's gonna be rough.
- 38:09Speaker 4: But yeah, and you can.
- 38:11Speaker 1: You can also get these wands and other retail locations
- 38:14Speaker 1: throughout the park as well, so like the other like
- 38:17Speaker 1: city walk stores and stuff like that.
- 38:19Speaker 4: And like we mentioned earlier, the wands are not cheap.
- 38:22Speaker 1: They're retailing for eighty five dollars before tax, so let's
- 38:27Speaker 1: lead more. And you know, I do understand that these
- 38:30Speaker 1: ones do need to be pricier than the other ones
- 38:33Speaker 1: because of just the added elements of the haptic feedback
- 38:36Speaker 1: and all of that. But yeah, it eighty five is steep,
- 38:41Speaker 1: especially before tax.
- 38:42Speaker 4: So I'll get one.
- 38:45Speaker 2: But yeah, maybe we need to use somebody's discount. Maybe
- 38:51Speaker 2: someone will have a discount.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Right, because you can use a universal passholder discount for it.
- 38:58Speaker 1: But of course, the way Universal does it is that
- 39:00Speaker 1: it's not every passholder gets a discount. It's a certain level.
- 39:04Speaker 1: So yeah, but lots of Wan stuff coming so also,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and there wasn't World of Harry Potter, but this is
- 39:13Speaker 1: in Universal Hollywood and Orlando. Butter beer season is coming.
- 39:17Speaker 1: So we talked about butter beer season on another episode
- 39:19Speaker 1: with all the stuff coming to.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Retail with goldfish and all of that.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I don't know when this whole butter beer season became
- 39:25Speaker 1: such a big deal, but Josh, it is such a
- 39:27Speaker 1: big deal.
- 39:29Speaker 2: I feel like it's just like this year. I don't
- 39:31Speaker 2: even remember last year.
- 39:32Speaker 1: They're being there, they're talking about it, like, guys, it's
- 39:35Speaker 1: butter beer season again, and I'm like, I don't know.
- 39:38Speaker 2: For decades, I never knew it was one.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and I didn't know it was a thing.
- 39:47Speaker 1: They did last year have like some limited addition butter
- 39:50Speaker 1: beer stuff that came out, But like this year, it's
- 39:52Speaker 1: like a whole other thing and just all of the
- 39:55Speaker 1: the stuff available in like local grocery stores that's butterbeer flavored.
- 39:59Speaker 4: It's kind of huge. I don't get it, but you
- 40:02Speaker 4: know what, I'm here for it. So you're at.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Is that last year is that when we got the
- 40:10Speaker 2: like the metal yes, the sign yep stain. Maybe that's
- 40:14Speaker 2: what this was for.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Okay, it was it was it just I don't think
- 40:17Speaker 1: it was branded as this big butter beer season.
- 40:20Speaker 4: It was like just this limited edition thing.
- 40:22Speaker 1: And yeah, as you'll find out in a second here
- 40:24Speaker 1: there is another stein.
- 40:26Speaker 2: I saw it. It's very pretty, Yes, it is.
- 40:29Speaker 1: So if you find yourself at the parks between March
- 40:33Speaker 1: first to May thirty first, there is a lot of
- 40:36Speaker 1: butter beer stuff for you. So there's a whole new
- 40:39Speaker 1: themed merch. There's bags and cups and shirts and socks
- 40:43Speaker 1: and pins and just there's a ton of butter beer
- 40:46Speaker 1: inspired merch. There is that new limited edition gold Souvenir
- 40:50Speaker 1: butter Beer stein, and you can get a frozen or
- 40:54Speaker 1: regular butter beer right in the stine at time of purchase.
- 40:58Speaker 1: And there's also a cup new limited time treats including
- 41:02Speaker 1: a new butter beer cream puff which will be available
- 41:04Speaker 1: at the three Broomsticks, and a new butter Beer candy bar.
- 41:08Speaker 1: And then returning this year will be the Butterbeer ice
- 41:11Speaker 1: lolly and the butterbeer gummies that come in Like the
- 41:14Speaker 1: souvenir butter beer cart. How many times can I say
- 41:18Speaker 1: butter beer? So yeah, the butterbeer cart is really cool.
- 41:22Speaker 1: It looks kind of like a popcorn bucket, but that
- 41:24Speaker 1: was around last year too, so that's returning this year.
- 41:29Speaker 1: And because there is so much going on for butterbeer season,
- 41:33Speaker 1: there is an article on Harry Potter dot com that
- 41:36Speaker 1: kind of summarizes all of the butter beer stuff coming.
- 41:38Speaker 1: I'll put it in the show notes. Check it out
- 41:41Speaker 1: if you want to see. I mean, we've talked about
- 41:42Speaker 1: a lot of what's coming, but it's just if you
- 41:46Speaker 1: like butter beer this there's a lot to check out.
- 41:51Speaker 4: And also I'll.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Fine with my old butt beer mug from my first
- 41:57Speaker 3: to this too.
- 42:01Speaker 1: There's so many different versions now of that cup. And
- 42:04Speaker 1: I will say there is a really cool part of
- 42:07Speaker 1: this new merch line. It's like a it's like a
- 42:10Speaker 1: tumbler kind of but it shaped like a like a
- 42:14Speaker 1: butterbeer like wooden barrel and it's got a straw and
- 42:18Speaker 1: it is really cool. And I'm like, h that might
- 42:20Speaker 1: I might be tempted by that. So it's all very cool.
- 42:25Speaker 1: But the gold Stein is very is very nice. I
- 42:27Speaker 1: like this over one that I have better, but the
- 42:29Speaker 1: gold one is very shiny. So we also have the
- 42:38Speaker 1: updates to the Universal Orlando app that also include the
- 42:41Speaker 1: map of Epic Universe. This is exciting because if you
- 42:45Speaker 1: go in and you look at the map, we get
- 42:48Speaker 1: to learn some more names of dining and shopping locations
- 42:52Speaker 1: that haven't really been talked about before. So I know,
- 42:55Speaker 1: I think we just recently talked about in an episode
- 42:57Speaker 1: about like a candy shop coming to Ministry of Magic,
- 43:00Speaker 1: because we obviously have that in the other two parks.
- 43:03Speaker 1: And the map reveals that this name of this shop
- 43:06Speaker 1: will be k Dot Rammel Rammel.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Came that there we go, Oh my Carmel.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Oh that's you.
- 43:18Speaker 4: That's such a good play on words.
- 43:23Speaker 1: But yeah, So the map being in the app is
- 43:26Speaker 1: really cool because, like I said, you kind of get
- 43:28Speaker 1: to see things we haven't really seen before, and it
- 43:30Speaker 1: also just realizes makes or kind of like makes it
- 43:33Speaker 1: more real and how close we are to getting this park.
- 43:39Speaker 1: And we also learned that the Harry Potter and the
- 43:43Speaker 1: Battle of Ministry will offer a single rider line as well.
- 43:47Speaker 1: And speaking of lines, there's also a rumor floating around
- 43:51Speaker 1: that Epic Universe may use virtual cues for entry into
- 43:55Speaker 1: its new worlds when the park opens. So apparently when
- 43:58Speaker 1: the Epic Universe map added, it showed markers for all
- 44:02Speaker 1: the different entrance portals and underneath it said virtual line,
- 44:06Speaker 1: but they have since removed that virtual line, so we'll see.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But this wouldn't be the first time that Universal has
- 44:13Speaker 1: used virtual cues to enter parks.
- 44:17Speaker 2: That makes sense because like, you don't want everyone rushing
- 44:21Speaker 2: to just one of the sections and then you've got
- 44:25Speaker 2: a crowd problem in one section and everything else is empty.
- 44:29Speaker 2: So I like this idea.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, So no confirmation with that kind of just
- 44:37Speaker 1: some rumors that have been circling after the map was
- 44:40Speaker 1: added to the app. So we will see in a
- 44:44Speaker 1: couple of months.
- 44:47Speaker 4: And that is everything. For the news, this episode quite
- 44:53Speaker 4: the list.
- 44:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that'd be exciting.
- 45:00Speaker 2: All right. For our main discussion, yay, this is kind
- 45:05Speaker 2: of part two of our Unanswered Questions. We did one
- 45:09Speaker 2: episode for Harry Potter Unanswered Questions, so this episode is
- 45:14Speaker 2: all about Fantastic Beasts and we have a lot of
- 45:18Speaker 2: questions diving right in. I've had this question since the
- 45:25Speaker 2: very first film and we never got an answer, and
- 45:29Speaker 2: I feel like we debated and speculated about this for
- 45:33Speaker 2: so long, and it's like everyone just kind of forgot
- 45:37Speaker 2: about it and it was liked, never mind, you don't
- 45:40Speaker 2: need to know what that means, and that is what
- 45:43Speaker 2: the hell does will we die just a little mean
- 45:47Speaker 2: at the end of the first film.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still wondering if it was something in the
- 45:57Speaker 3: script of if it was something that Jenny Depp just.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Randomly, I would say it just it sounds just like.
- 46:10Speaker 2: What is a name? Can someone ask him? Please?
- 46:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's still confused about that. I think we had
- 46:23Speaker 3: a lot of theories. Don't speak Bastie about that. I
- 46:27Speaker 3: don't remember half of it.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, is he like, is he alluding to
- 46:42Speaker 2: like wizard kind dying off if they don't follow his regime.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Or.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Because it was it was targeted directly at Newt, like
- 46:55Speaker 3: something something like Newt would understand what he was saying.
- 46:59Speaker 3: And I mean, we don't have any clue that you
- 47:02Speaker 3: don't just do something.
- 47:05Speaker 2: It looks just as confused as Sweeted. Honestly.
- 47:10Speaker 3: I think one of our theory, and I just remember
- 47:13Speaker 3: doing that, is that maybe he he saw that Credence
- 47:17Speaker 3: didn't die at this uh when, because it was just
- 47:22Speaker 3: after we all thought that all the rors just killed
- 47:28Speaker 3: Credence and but we saw a wisp of the obscures
- 47:34Speaker 3: flying away, and maybe that's a reference to that, like
- 47:39Speaker 3: he died but just a little.
- 47:45Speaker 2: It's such a weird line. I don't know. The first
- 47:53Speaker 2: time I was I was just so like in shock
- 47:57Speaker 2: that it was even Johnny DApp but like I totally
- 48:02Speaker 2: missed what he said. And then the next time I
- 48:04Speaker 2: was like, what, I've.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Confused, We've had the titles. I would have not understood
- 48:11Speaker 3: that at all.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Because it was right, Yeah, that's why you look so confused,
- 48:26Speaker 1: because in that moment, what are you choking?
- 48:29Speaker 2: Are you okay? You need the heimlick?
- 48:34Speaker 4: No, just Johnny being Johnny?
- 48:38Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean kind of like tied to that too.
- 48:47Speaker 2: How and when did Grennewald presumably kill Graves so he
- 48:52Speaker 2: could take over his identity because we know JKR said
- 48:58Speaker 2: he didn't use polyduice potion, so like he didn't need
- 49:01Speaker 2: to keep them alive, so I would assume we just
- 49:03Speaker 2: got rid of him, But like, when did this happen?
- 49:07Speaker 2: How long has kind of all been Graves?
- 49:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's something very interesting to know because it
- 49:17Speaker 3: will affect maybe the relationship between Tina and Graves because
- 49:25Speaker 3: they have this weird thing during the movie, and yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 3: was it something that Tina was having with the old
- 49:36Speaker 3: Graves the real Graves on this new one. But because
- 49:43Speaker 3: at the same time, at the beginning of the movie,
- 49:44Speaker 3: we have this newspaper and we see Grendeval in Europe
- 49:51Speaker 3: doing some stuff, so he can't be at two place
- 49:57Speaker 3: at the same times. So yeah, I was expecting that
- 50:04Speaker 3: to be quite recent because but at the same time,
- 50:09Speaker 3: where and how, I don't know. Maybe Grace was sent
- 50:13Speaker 3: in Europe to help the local authorities to to to
- 50:19Speaker 3: deal with what what was happening with Greendeval. That that
- 50:23Speaker 3: that's was when Greendevald got him, I don't know.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Maybe and after Grenival took him over, did he cut
- 50:35Speaker 2: his hair to look the same or the Graves already
- 50:40Speaker 2: have this weird style. Grenawald was like that guy, same style.
- 50:51Speaker 2: I mean, who can blame him really?
- 50:57Speaker 3: If? Yeah, I'm guessing that he he wasn't forced to
- 51:03Speaker 3: change back. He would stay with his face.
- 51:09Speaker 4: High.
- 51:09Speaker 2: What of?
- 51:19Speaker 3: So I have another one again. It was something that
- 51:24Speaker 3: was mentioned in the first movie, and I don't think
- 51:29Speaker 3: it was mentioned again even if we had flashback in
- 51:32Speaker 3: the second one. But what really happened at Hogwarts when
- 51:37Speaker 3: newte was expelled or almost expelled? Because we don't know
- 51:43Speaker 3: what happened exactly. We know that Dumbledore intervene, but we
- 51:48Speaker 3: don't know if he prevent the expression of newt oh,
- 51:53Speaker 3: if Nut was indeed expelled and was little involved, because
- 51:57Speaker 3: I know we had a lot of theory about that,
- 52:00Speaker 3: and maybe because we know the day they were closed.
- 52:05Speaker 3: We know that a creature was involved. I think we
- 52:08Speaker 3: had some props mentioning that it was it was Jovis
- 52:19Speaker 3: I remember something like that.
- 52:21Speaker 2: I don't remember exactly what was involved, but yeah, I
- 52:24Speaker 2: remember there was a creature. I don't know if we
- 52:29Speaker 2: made this up that he was covering for Leda or
- 52:34Speaker 2: if that was confirmed.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was us because us theorizing.
- 52:40Speaker 2: But this is the problem. It all blends together.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I mean, we spent so many times theorizing, so yeah,
- 52:49Speaker 3: we we don't make the difference.
- 52:55Speaker 2: I'm googling right now. Why was new expelled? Okay, New
- 53:05Speaker 2: it was expelled because he took the blame for a
- 53:08Speaker 2: dangerous experiment conducted by Leaderless Strange which involved a jarby
- 53:14Speaker 2: that endangered another student's life.
- 53:18Speaker 3: Wow. I remember the Jovie things because it was on
- 53:23Speaker 3: a prop that we got in one of the the
- 53:27Speaker 3: companion book for the movie. But I don't remember where
- 53:32Speaker 3: the litter stuff comes from. Mm hmmm.
- 53:38Speaker 2: I feel like he wasn't like fully expelled though. I
- 53:41Speaker 2: feel like he was like going to take the fall,
- 53:45Speaker 2: but then Dumbledore stepped in, because otherwise he wouldn't still
- 53:51Speaker 2: have his wand it wouldn't be like so openly like
- 53:55Speaker 2: just practicing magic and caring about with his life. But yeah, yeah,
- 54:00Speaker 2: I would love to know what actually happened.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a lost thread of plot
- 54:08Speaker 3: because they they talk about it in the first movie
- 54:12Speaker 3: and the second one they do flashbacks, but they don't
- 54:15Speaker 3: cover that, so it's weird. And they obviously closed lta
- 54:21Speaker 3: storyline in the second movie, so there was no reason
- 54:25Speaker 3: to re explore that later. But I'm pretty sure they
- 54:29Speaker 3: were planning to do something with that and they just didn't.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Think a lot of the unanswered questions come from that,
- 54:40Speaker 1: Like they started these storylines with certain characters or mentioned
- 54:43Speaker 1: these certain things and then it just never like never
- 54:48Speaker 1: went anywhere, or like, right, we had like that that
- 54:51Speaker 1: character was killed off or we obviously you know, we're
- 54:56Speaker 1: gonna get more than three movies and then didn't and
- 54:59Speaker 1: maybe they were gonna be touchdown later maybe not.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll never know.
- 55:10Speaker 3: M yeah, speaking of a maybe lost plot, I don't know.
- 55:17Speaker 3: We are moving to the second movie and we in
- 55:20Speaker 3: which we discovered the prediction of Tycho the Donis and
- 55:26Speaker 3: so I didn't I don't have it on my brain
- 55:31Speaker 3: right now, but it was something like I don't know,
- 55:36Speaker 3: the spair of the Daughter returned great Avenger wings from
- 55:40Speaker 3: the water and I don't remember the start of it,
- 55:43Speaker 3: but something like that, and it was used to in
- 55:50Speaker 3: the plot, the actual plot that we got to lead
- 55:55Speaker 3: us off Cama in the wrong direction. But usually in
- 56:00Speaker 3: the reasoning one when we have a prophecy, it has
- 56:03Speaker 3: double meaning or it has different interpretations, and we don't
- 56:10Speaker 3: know what was the the point of the if it
- 56:15Speaker 3: was another point of this prophecy except the false yeah,
- 56:22Speaker 3: the first direction that was confusing for camera and.
- 56:28Speaker 1: For us, but right at the end of the day,
- 56:32Speaker 1: it was still a prophecy that was made mm hmmm,
- 56:35Speaker 1: So like what what was it actually about?
- 56:39Speaker 2: Or right? Well, And it's weird too because we got
- 56:47Speaker 2: like things that seemed to allude back to this prophecy,
- 56:53Speaker 2: like the phoenix but made out of water with like
- 56:57Speaker 2: the wings coming up with the logo for Secrets of
- 57:00Speaker 2: Double I remember from the Water, but it like never
- 57:07Speaker 2: really panned out into anything like who's the son.
- 57:11Speaker 4: That was cruly vanished?
- 57:13Speaker 3: Yeah, the sun Cruly but the same daughter.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like this.
- 57:19Speaker 3: It looks so much like the Dumbledore's family history. Yeah,
- 57:24Speaker 3: it must have been linked to the to the Dumbledores
- 57:27Speaker 3: at some point. It was not really Strange, it was
- 57:29Speaker 3: the Dumbledoors.
- 57:31Speaker 2: Yeah, like it was still about Credence, but they got
- 57:36Speaker 2: the rest of the family wrong, like Credence.
- 57:40Speaker 1: Was as a Dumbledore instead of Freedoms being this lost
- 57:44Speaker 1: son of the strange fanis.
- 57:45Speaker 2: Yes, so like Credence was the son cruly banished, despair
- 57:50Speaker 2: of the daughter could be Ariana.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Mm hm, and like the Greatest like defeating Grundebald, maybe.
- 58:06Speaker 3: The wings from that from the Water.
- 58:09Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know.
- 58:16Speaker 3: I mean again, I think it's something that could have
- 58:20Speaker 3: been exploited later in even if it wasn't at all
- 58:24Speaker 3: in the mentioned in even mentioned in the third movie.
- 58:29Speaker 3: But at the same time, like you said, it's not mentioned,
- 58:33Speaker 3: but it adds meaning to the prophecy, so it could
- 58:37Speaker 3: could have been brought back in future movies.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, even like Wings from the Water I
- 58:53Speaker 2: don't know. I'm just thinking of like the shap wrack
- 58:57Speaker 2: mm hm, who survived the shap Wrack I mean create instead.
- 59:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Yes, it's frustrating when you have something. I mean, it's
- 59:16Speaker 3: it's still interesting to have a prophecy that was falsely
- 59:20Speaker 3: interpreted at first and then having a new meaning later.
- 59:25Speaker 3: It's a very I don't know. It's something that I
- 59:30Speaker 3: like in stories. But yeah, I will still have that
- 59:38Speaker 3: in my head canon. That's some in the future. It
- 59:41Speaker 3: will have been something that will have been brought back
- 59:45Speaker 3: at some point.
- 59:48Speaker 2: How many episodes of Speak be suitically dedicate to this prophecy,
- 59:54Speaker 2: I don't know, bod.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Another thing that keep us entertained for many episodes was
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: was the tea for Queenie poisoned? Because I think we
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: are still not sure it was not poisoned because Queeney
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: acted so weirdly after that, and it's it wasn't addressed
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: after because we see in the Firant movie that she
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: she realized very quickly that she made her not the
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: right decision. But yeah, what happened before what well, what
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: was was her in her normal state when she made
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: the decision. I'm not sure. Yeah, and this tea was
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: very This teapot was very pushing.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: It was very persistent. I remember we asked Pappy Krby
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: about this and she was like, what, I've never heard that,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: but that makes so much sense. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I would like to think it was or I wonder,
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: I wonder if there was like Fara to Saram or
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: something in it so that like Grenivald could talk to
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: her and know that she was telling him the truth
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: and not like trying to like infiltrate m.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: And I don't remember do we see Queenie drink the
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: tea or not, because we see her with the cup
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: in her hands, but I don't remember if we see
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: we see her actually drinking.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I don't remember.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I think I think we see we see
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: her drinking, because we were not I would be surprised
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: if she was not drinking, and we will still be
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: sure that the tea was poised.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: We were convinced.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I mean, I think like there was something because there's
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: such a focus right on this tea and like you said, Amy,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: like this forceful nature of drinking the tea, and I
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: think that something did happen because kind of like one
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: of the first questions I had is like, why didn't
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: or did Queenie ever just read Grindevald's mind, because like,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: of course he's obviously very strong, you know, with acqumancy
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: and of course with shielding his own mind, but we
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: know that Queenie's also very very strong, right and like,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: and so it's like this kind of unanswered question of like, Okay, well,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: if she's got like legitimacy and everything, like why did
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: you not just read his mind to.
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: See that he's lying to you?
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: And like how was she so easily persuaded to like
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: go and leave with him? It just seems so out
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: of character for her, right, Like obviously the whole like
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you know her, I think, everything with Jacob and like
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: wanting to be together, and like I think that like
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: definitely plays a role, but it definitely seems so kind
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: of out of character. And it's like, so was there
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: something that did happen to her that kind of diminished
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: her natural abilities? Yeah, to not be able to see
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: him truly?
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I think it. Go ahead.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Oh, I was just gonna say, even why wouldn't she
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: have read Rosier's.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: Mind or just any of them? Really?
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Even if Grendaval had his mind super shielded. I can't
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: imagine all the rest of them are accomplished in doing that.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Maybe maybe when I just realized that Vinda came to
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: her when she had a panic attack because she was
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: hearing too many footes around her, so she helped her
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: block I guess, the panic attack. And so maybe the
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: tea was not poisoned, but actually a portion to help
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: her she herself from the panic attack that she she
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: was having and it was actually helping her, but at
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: the same time, it was also shielding her from what
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: they were actually doing with manipulating her into their side.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: So yeah, I never realized that it's it might be
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: it might be a portion to help her manage the
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: panic attack that she was having.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: That or is there maybe a potion that we don't
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: know about that maybe is a very advanced potion that
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: kind of like blocks legitimacy or like or something like
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: that takes away takes, yeah, the ability, even if it's
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: just temporary. And maybe they were just kind of continuously
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: putting it in Queeney's teeth like while she was there,
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: you know, lacing her dinner with it, you know, so
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: that she was kind of continuing to take it because
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I mean, you know, like obviously Grindelvald like knew of her,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: like her legitlementcy ability, and wanted her for that as
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: well and so like, but also needed to protect himself
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: and those yeah, all everyone around him from her abilities
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: as well.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: Mm hmm, yeah, because none that I'm thinking about that,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: I don't think we see her using her power after
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: that in this movie.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: And there she does with Kamma Grendovald orders her to
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: read the commas.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Yeah, in the exact thing, but in the in Crimes
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: of Greendeval, I don't think she because yeah, in the
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: third one she uses a lot to use it with
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: with creedoms creeds, but in in Crimes of greende Vous
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: she's so off doing the last scene, like in the
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: in the mausole room, it's a huge crowd and they
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: are I mean, I can't see how she managed the
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: crowd and the intense faults that was in the room
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: because it was so intense with what what was happening.
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: And yeah, it's my new head cannon that she was
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: that she was not poisoned, but at the same yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: it was blocking her, maybe it was.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: Blocking something was affected.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: I think, Oh, cool, new head canon for this.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: H yeah, oh, go ahead, No, it answers a bit.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: Yeah. The next question that we had why Queenie never
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: read Quenevo's mind.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: M hmm.
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: I think she did in the third one.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: That's why she was starting to come back to herself
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: and change and m hm well maybe it's because, right,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: so they needed or they wanted to use her to
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: read gradence and use of Kamma, and so they had
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: to kind of start scaling back on that potion. And
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: then she was able to kind of maybe start maybe
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: not Grindelwald again because being a strong acquamance, but like
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: the other people around, was maybe starting to gather some
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: of their thoughts and that was why she was kind
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: of starting to come to her senses a little bit.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: Yeah, because that's the first thing that we see her
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: do with Grendeval at the end of Crimes of Grendeval
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: when he asked her how Credence is fitling and so
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: he can adapt his manipulation strategy soon. Yeah, there, she
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: was not on the tee was Yeah.
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: They had a weener off.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: H Yeah. I feel like a lot of my remaining
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: questions really do have to do with Credence. He's such
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: a big question mark. But first off, we never find
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: out who his mother was, and it's so interesting to
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: me because we don't even know, like is she still alive,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: is she out there? Like we'll never know.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's very frustrating because again that's a new
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: plot that they opened in the Friend movie. And even
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: if they managed to make us feel like the end
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: of the fernd movie could be d end for credence,
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: But I'm not convinced, and they because we don't see
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: him die. So if they keep this door open for
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: the the rest of the of the Sega, I guess
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: the question about his mother will would have come back
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: at some point.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: I mean, if she was in Goderich's Hollow and that's
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: how she and Abberforth met, I would assume she's also
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: from a wizarding family, and with both of them being wizards,
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: you could assume that their kid would also be magical.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: So it's kind of weird to me that she just
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: like had the kid and then was like, yeah, go
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: live with these muggles. It's just I don't know, it
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: makes me wonder if she didn't survive, if it's like
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: a mare Begaunt situation.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Yeah, because that would be weird if she is a
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: witch around the age of Eboforth and I because I
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: don't remember Albus knew or did he learn that in
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: the movie in the Firont movie when I don't remember.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: I don't remember either that I'm blinking.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I feel like he didn't, Like I feel like he
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: found out kind of in that movie or if not,
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: I don't know if it's something he necessarily knew, like
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: right from the beginning, Like I don't know if it's
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: like ever fourth like immediately went to him and was like, hey, like,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I got this girl pregnant, like we're God making this baby.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Like I don't know if he knew from like that moment.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I thought that he found out after if I'm remembering correctly,
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: Like he didn't know in the moment, but he found
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: out later that the girl was like sent away to
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: have the baby. But he never says if he knew
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: who the girl was or anything.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: Yeah, because he was his credence, like what he's seen
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: aound credence.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and they were quite quite young, right twas huh.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Okay, So I wonder was she a Hogwarts student? Was
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: she still at Hogwarts at that point?
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, I hope not, because that's been
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: very younger.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: And yeah, but Aberforth was younger than Albus and it
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: happened like ray when Albis graduated. Right, it's kind of
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: the timeline because didn't you say he was so distracted
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: that summer by his own stuff with grendl Wald and
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: that's why he didn't notice. Yeah, so they would have
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: been teenagers definitely.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Which also might play into the role of like why
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Credence was sent away to like why she didn't keep
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: him and raise him because if they were very young. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I mean I have a lot of questions about this too,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: because it's like that was the next question. It kind
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: of plays right into this is like, you know, did
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Aberforth or the other Dumbledores, if they knew ever tried
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: to like seek out Credence, you know, especially knowing Arianna's
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: fate as an obscurial, Like if that at the point
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: when they when it was kind of all put to
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: and two together, that like Aberforth's child was Credence, and
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: here's all this stuff we're dealing with Credence like.
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: Or was you know Abberforce just really did they really just.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Have this like this happened we dealt with it in
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: the moment, and now it's you know, we're hands off,
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: we're not dealing it. Whether we don't have any desire
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: to seek out who the child is or anything, or
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: did they even.
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: Know though, I mean, what what they thought it was.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: I mean, the people who knew about that and who
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: sent the child away. Everyone thought he died in the
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: in doing the the the shipwreck and during the yeah,
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: the crossing of the ocean, because they didn't they were
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: they were they were not aware of the the baby
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: switch that Alita did. So we know it was this
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: this woman who who was with the baby. It was
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: supposed to be his aunt.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so the sister of.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Yeah maybe right, or of his of his father but
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: hm hm no, his ant who but.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: It would be mother's his mother's sister.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but it can't be his end because it's Ariana.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: I know, it's the end.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Of Well, that would be his father's sister, his mother's sister.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: We have no idea.
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe the maybe she had a big sister that
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: was able to bring the baby.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: That's kind of how I've understood it, is that like
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: the Dumbledoors didn't really know, but the girl's family obviously
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: knew and like to try a way to have the
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: baby and then like tried to take the baby to
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: America for some reason. I don't know why.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: I mean, which makes sense because I mean obviously the
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Credence's mother had to like carry him in birth him,
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: and so it's not like her family couldn't really be unaware,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: where like Aberforth could have just been like okay, bye,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: you know, like unfortunately, yeah, that kind of absent, like
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: and so I think it does make sense that you know,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: maybe yeah, the Dumbledore didn't know until the moment when
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: he had to know, or you know, Aberforth finally was like, hey,
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: all those years ago, like.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: This day happened, but you were too busy whatever thing.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: And so you know, it just kind of was my
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: thing that I was dealing with, and you know, you
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: had bigger things that you were dealing with, you know,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: with Grandobald not knowing the importance that would come of
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: that that child, yeah until he found out, until e
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: before found out, Like.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, we it leave us with we reallyn't
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: we really need to know about this this mother's family
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: m hm. And I mean we need we we can,
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: like you said, we can figure figure out what happened.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: But at the same time, what was the the thinking
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: behind sending the baby to to the United States? And
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: was there a connection there maybe yeah, maybe they just
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: had family there and then they weren't happy to take
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: the baby and maybe it's just but yeah, the fact
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: that there was this uh the baby was thought to
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: be lost. It was just the end of the story
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: for them.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because casually mother, we want to.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: But then I want to know, like did Aberforth, like
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: did he did he want to be in is that
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: also planning to role of like why they were like
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: we have to take this baby far away because we
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: don't want Aberforth involved with this baby and like maybe
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: he wanted to be involved with the baby and you know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: or like what was the story that like the mother
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: told Aberforth about the baby. Like there's so many unanswered
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: questions there about like what happened between her finding out
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: she was pregnant with this baby and having the baby
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: and the baby being sent away and like where was
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Aberfourth and all of this?
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: What was his role? Did he have a say in
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: what his role was?
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: Did he even know like before she went away or
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: did she go away and then like send him a
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: letter and be like, hey, by the way.
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: I had it right, Yeah, and with this time nine
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: it was just around the time that Arianna died too,
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: So that's a horrible time for him.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Well, there's a lot of discourse online like painting him
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: as like the bad figure here of like you just
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: abandoned your child and all this kind of stuff, But
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: like I don't think we know enough to say that
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: that's what happened at all. And we don't know, and
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: that's why I have this question, right, like did Everforth
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: ever try to seek out like where what was Everforth's.
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: Role in this?
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: And wasn't forced on him to have a certain and
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: he was so young, right and he was so young
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: and then like you said, it was like then you
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: had you know, his brother was dealing with this big
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: thing with grindol Val, his sister had everything that happened
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: with her, and you know, Avererforth is all is badness.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Like I feel like it's just a quiet, reserved person
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: of like I just am I'm internalizing what I'm going through.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: It's not for me to burden anybody else. And so
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: now it's like, gosh, what was he also going through
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: at this time? Of his family also just like falling apart.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and because because Alpus was so occupied with Grendevald,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: he was alone taking care of of Ariana, and he
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: was already super young taking care of of this younger
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: sister who he's an obscurevio. That's already something very scary
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: too to have to deal with. And yeah, we can
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: understand that if he had this this young love on
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: the side, and uh yeah, yeah, I feel I feel
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: for him.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: That's and what luck though that his son is also
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: an obscurial, like like he cannot catch a break from it.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: It's interesting too, because I mean we're asking, like, did
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: they try to seek out credence. Credence didn't necessarily end
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: up where the family meant to send him, send him, Like,
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: I don't think he was supposed to end up with
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: the bare Bones. I think he ended up there because
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: he was switched drowned, right, So he's did the switch
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: the babies too, right, So not only the babies were switched,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: but the woman who was supposed to get him where
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: he was going also didn't survive. So there's this baby
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: by itself. It's going to go to an orphanage in
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: New York City. And that was the bear bone bones.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: So it's like, yeah, so like and if he tracked
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: down the mother of the child and her family and
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: was like, hey, like where'd you send the kid credence?
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Day he Yeah, the the most news that he could
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: have was sorry, kid, the baby died. That's that said, which.
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: Then begs the question, at what point did he realize
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: that the kid was still alive and was credence Because
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: we just get him just sending these mirror messages and
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: there's no backstory there, Like why does he just suddenly assume, Oh,
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: it's my kid sending me messages in my mirror.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: Right, That's why I have this question of like did
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: he ever seek him out?
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: And when? Right?
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: So, like what was he what knowledge was he privy to?
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Was he told like, right, yeah, we sent the kid away.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Unfortunately as a baby he died and drowned on the ship.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: But like but then obviously, like some point, it's like,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: was it Credence that kind of like initiated the contact
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: and abber Horse just like wet Weather or like I
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: just I or did he have suspicions that maybe the
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: baby didn't die because of some information he found out?
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: Like there's just so much of like what happened there?
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, in my in my mind, he I guess Albus
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: told him what what happened with with Lita, and I
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: don't know around the stude they will they were talking
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: and then maybe Albus told him what what happened and
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: and so he didn't connected the dots right now. But
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: at the same time, Grendeville told Credence he is a Dumbledore.
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: So I'm guessing it's Credence who met the first yeah,
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: who sent the first message through the mirror, and and
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: then above connected the threat and uh and understood because
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: of what I was told about the Lustrians family story
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: and because uh Dumbledore was aware of that. He told
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: you at the beginning of the movie of all this
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: corcus thing and uh so, and I guess before was
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: aware of that too, and he connected to dot with
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: the we saw his story.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: And yeah, so maybe Aberforth didn't know that the baby
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: was sent to America in order to make that connection
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: of wait a second, there were two babies on the
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: boat they got swapped.
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: I mean, if if he asked at some point, it
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: could have got this, uh this information that maybe maybe
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: the the mother's family would not have told him if
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: if the if the baby would have survived, but if
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: they were sure the baby died, they would they would.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: So yeah, he was sent in the boat and he
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: didn't survive the trip. So maybe yeah he just knew that.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: H m hm.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: I mean I picture like Credence reaching out thinking he's
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: like this long lost brother, and like Aberforth is just
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: like no, no, no, like my mom didn't have another.
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: Uh you know, baby, but like oh I did.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: And that would make a dumble Doore and like kind
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: of put two and two together of like oh my gosh,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: like you're not my brother, you are my son. But
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: then if I was Aberforth, like I would have so
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: many questions about like, well, how are you even sure
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: you're a Dumbledore? Like I would just be asking all
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: these questions, especially if he had this thought of like
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: my son is I don't know the fate of my
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: son or my son is dead or whatever, like to
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: just have someone come and be like, hey, I'm being
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: told I'm a dumble Doore, to just be like, oh, yeah,
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: you're my son, Like it just seems like there's got
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: to be there's got to be more that happened there,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Like even from Aberford, like he's a smart man, like
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: right to be like wait what.
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Yeah, But at the same times, I can understand if
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: it's something it's if it's something that he's haunting him
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: for so long, just the fact that somebody reached.
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: To him, just accepting in the moment.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: I'm a lost Dumbledore and like I lose someone.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I lost you son who was a Dumbledore, Like must
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: like being overflooded with emotions.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: You don't even think about the logistics of it.
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: You just kind of accept it in the moment because,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: like you said, if he was if it was something
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: he was so haunted by for so long, it's just
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: kind of like, oh my god, like my long lost.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Son is here.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Like I just want to build this connection and not
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: think about the logistics of like wait, but how are
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: you here and how did you find me?
- 1:26:58Speaker 4: And all this stuff?
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, which is something maybe we could have gotten
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: more of if we had other films, Like I think
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: we would have gotten more an exploration into that, but
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: instead we're left just speculating.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, So another Credence question. Why was Credence able
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: to live so long past the age that most obscure ill.
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: Do because he's a dumbado.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: He's because he's because.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: Actually we don't know how old Ayana would have lived
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: if there was not the accident accident. I don't know
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: if it's an accident, but if yeah, if if the
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: the jeol was not because she was not killed by
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: he's by her just being an obscure. She was killed
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: because she was in cross shots maybe or maybe just
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: the the energy in the room just make her explode.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: We don't know, but it's implied that it's a spell
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: that killed her. So and she was already older than
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: the regular obscure. I guess, yeah, I think so, yeah,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: so yeah, maybe that's just dumble the thing to be
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: super resistent to obscure use. I don't know.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I wonder if like you're like I mean kind of
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: like based on that, like if you're like not like
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: necessarily like level of magic, but like I don't really
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: like using the term like powerfulness either, but like if
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: you're a like not as powerful, which your wizard, if
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: you could possibly like succumb to your obscurest easier, whereas
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: if you're inherently strong and like powerful, if you're able
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: to kind of hold on longer and like.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: Which would make sense why.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: We see that in people with Dumbledore blood and magic,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: because they're just inherently powerful in magic.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: It's just interesting that one, obscurials are kind of rare
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: and there's two in the same family, and two it's
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: very rare to live that long and there's two that
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: do in the same family. So yeah, it's that dumble
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: Doore blood.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: I feel like it's something it is.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: I think it's something with the Dumbledoors and I think
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: it's just.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. At the same times, I was trying to
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: think if it was something in the in Creden's experience
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: and how he became an obscurial because he of course
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: it's because he suppressed his magic and he was Yeah,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: it was it was he was in this environment that
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: was not letting him be being himself. But at the
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: same time he had this hope too two to escape
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: that because of Graves. And again it brings back the
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: question of for how long was this relationship with Grace
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: was grindle Graves was going on because it looks like
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: something that grapes groomed over the time, and it doesn't
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: look like something just recent. So yeah, that's if he
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: had this hope to to escape and at the same
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: time he is a dumbledore, so he has a very
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: powerful thing. But I quite quickly we see that in
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: the first movie he has a little bit of control.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: He can use his obscureos when he and to target,
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: to target people. And that's not something that we.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: Know that.
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: It's not how I pictured the obscures to to work
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: for me, it's just something repressed that bring the obscures
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: in obscure and it's just explode when it's too much
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: for the for the child. And uh, but very early
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: he used that so to target people. So maybe it's
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: just also the way he grow with the obscurious. I
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: don't know it makes sense for me. I don't know
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: if it's the reason, but yeah, I.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Like what you said about like he has hope too,
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: because he also kind of intends to embrace his magical
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: abilities at some point because he realizes he is magical,
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: so he's like repressing it, but he's also actively trying
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: to help Graves because in return, Graves is promising, you know, magic,
- 1:32:37Speaker 2: And same with when he goes to Grenowald, like he
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: gets a wand and stuff and is like then using magic.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: So he's he's like embracing that he is magic but
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: also repressing.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: M It's like he was able to kind of start
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: the almost the turnaround process where others succumbed to their
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: obscurests before they kind of can maybe get.
- 1:33:03Speaker 4: To that point.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and so maybe he's kind of just this one
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: rare one that like it's just right. He had this
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: this other aspect that maybe the others haven't had that
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: allowed him to suppress not suppress the obscure the obscurists
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: really but it's weird. It almost, like you said, Merjo,
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: it almost created this like where he started to kind
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: of have control over it a little bit. And it's
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: almost like if the other children were able to have
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: a similar trajectory or maybe start to have this where
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: like what like because what happens if all of a
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: sudden you stop repressing your magic as an obscurial, Like
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: do you just like slowly the obscurest just slowly like
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: get smaller and weaker and dissolves or like you're screwed
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: no matter what.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: And eventually it's going to take over.
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: Like we don't really know because you typically don't see it, right,
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: Like typically these kids end up succoming, so they're obscurists.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: So he's kind of like this it seems rare because
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: it doesn't happen a lot, but he I just yeah,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: I just I wish we had more with him and
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: like got to see more of his story because that's
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: always a question I've had just about being an obscurial
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: in general. It's like, Okay, you've developed this because you've
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: suppressed magic, but what happens if you stop suppressing magic?
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: What happens to the obscurists? And can you get rid
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: of it? And we don't know. We're just told that
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Newt tried to remove an obscurists from you know, the
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Little Girl, and unfortunately she.
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: Didn't survive it.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: But there's still a lot of unanswered questions there that
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: I think he could have solved.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I still think it's the most interesting creation
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: of disfranchise, the disconcept of the excuriost it's very very interesting,
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: and it brings a lot of symbolism that is useful
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: in a real world, but also very interesting question about
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: this world because it makes sense that the wizards don't
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: know much about the obscures because it's very It's like
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: the dark. It's it's something from their past, and it's
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: something that they want to be in their past of
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: this history of before the the Statute of Secrecy and
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: and when they they were yeah, persecuted by the moguls.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: And so it makes sense that this society decided to
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: to consider that not a problem anymore and not uh
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: and and to not study that and to be blinded
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: if something related to that happened, and uh, it would
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: have been something very interesting too to explore more with
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: new being the one to to say no, it exists, uh,
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: and we need to to confront that and to to
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: study that to help this discharge and then these children.
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: So that's a very very powerful thing that they could
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: have been even more expanded in the in the series.
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well I think, I know we talked a little
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: bit about in our like Dark Creatures episode where we
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: talked about the Obscurists and we talked a little bit
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: about Ariana as well, and like, I think the way
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: that you your obscurest develops too probably also plays a
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: role on that, because we talked about with like Ariana
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: like a lot of it being like a trauma from
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: what happened to her more so than you know, she
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: wasn't she didn't grow up in this environment where she
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: needed to suppress her magic, like I feel like a lot.
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: Of obscurials do.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Hers seemed to really develop because of like what happened
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: to her and just this repression of memories and repression
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: of self. And so I wonder if, because hers was
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: created in that way too, if she hadn't unfortunately died
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: when she did, because like you said, Margo, I mean
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: at the end of the day, like she didn't necessarily
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: die because of her obscurist, Like could she have also
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: been someone like Credence who survived longer than we typically
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: see because of the reason she had an obscurist And
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: if she had worked through that trauma and that emotions
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: and kind of in a similar way, kind of did
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: the reversal process a little bit of.
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: Like no longer.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: You know not or I can't even think what I'm
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: trying to say, like suppressing her magic, could she have also.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: Kind of cured herself in a way.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: It's like we almost have that parallel story between them.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: So I think, yeah, there's just a lot we don't
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: know about them because they are rare, And I think
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: there's you know, like you said, Marjoe, I think a
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: lot of them came about because of this, Oh, we
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: have to hide ourselves because we're a danger and you know,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: people are hunting us and stuff. But then once that
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: wasn't such an issue anymore, like what was the reasons
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: that we're creating the you know, children to become obscurials,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: And it almost was like that needed to be studied
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: and those different paths of how someone became an obscurial,
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: because I think that would have eventually led to research
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: or maybe more understanding of like can we actually cure this?
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's my question if we had a fourth movie,
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: will define a way to cure credence because we again
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: and we don't see Cretens die at the end of
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: the of the movie of Secrets of Dumbledore, And yeah,
- 1:39:10Speaker 3: I still have hope that he didn't die.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: I mean I think, yes, I don't think. I think
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: everything kind of just what we were just talking about.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: I think everything we've seen about him and leading up
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: to where we kind of left is I don't think
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: he was ever going to be somebody who died because
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: of his obscurists. Like I think he was already starting
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: that process away from it. So I think he would
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: have been cured in some way, whether it was like
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: by his own doing or them, you know, working with
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Grindelwald and finding some way, whether it's dark magic or
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: something to cure him. I think one hundred percent like
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: he was not faded to necessarily be an obscurial forever
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: or die by his obscurists, right, or maybe he would
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: be this pert, like this first person to like learn
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: to like live with an obscurist in this like host
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: parasite type of relationship where he started to like even
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: learn how to hone his obscurests even more and literally
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: use it.
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: And probably dark ways.
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: But I think it was what what Grendeville is expecting,
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: was expecting to to bring credence to that state of
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: owning the obscures and using it as a weapon. So
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: and we see that it was degrading degree dating degreeing
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: credence body and he was more and more sick, and
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: uh so I think it was not the the It
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: was not the solution for for Credits to be cured,
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: but or to be able to survive. But at the
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: end he made the choice to come back to the
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: Light and yeah, and I still think it would have
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: been a plot for movie four to to to find
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: a cure for Credence, and it would have been something.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: I don't know if it would have been the center
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: of the plot for movie four, but at least some
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: important part, Like the important part for movie three was
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: to break the blood pack, then it was to it
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: would have been to cure Credence, because also Credence was
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: the reason why they realized they sisted to break the
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: the blood pack.
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: So yeah, I just think he's something different, and I
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: think he was never faded to have the typical obscural end,
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: and I think he was, you know, always meant to
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: be this important, important role. It's just, yeah, I would
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: have loved to see like how that end was right,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: like if it was an actual cure, or if we
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: get to learn about new properties of an obscurist through him,
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: or just something. I just feel like it couldn't have
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: all been for like nothing to then have him, you know,
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: succumb to the obscurists.
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, Like I don't think he would have
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: lived that long with it if it wasn't for a reason.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's like in the end, did we see
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: like him kind of start to degrade it as you
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: mentioned Marjoe, you know, more so because of like the
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: way that he was being pushed by Grindelwald and like
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: really over extending himself that way, more so than he
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: was just getting sicker because of the Obscurist. And those
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: things might be mutually exclusive. It might be that because
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: he was being pushed so hard that that was just making.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: I don't know, they could be mutually exclusive, but.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I just want to know what happens with them
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: really we able.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: To save credence?
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and like speaking of like you know what
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: like happens to characters, right, so we one of the
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: other big things that was introduced in this film is Naghini,
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: you know, and Nighini being a person, and you know,
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: obviously we know what her fate is, you know, but
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: it just seemed like so much to set up for
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: us to then just be left so many questions because
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: of course, like she's a good person and she's on
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: like the right side throughout all these films, and so
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: it's like, what like what happened to her? Like how
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: did she eventually kind of you know, end up meeting
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: her faith fully when did she fully turn into a snake?
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: Like how did she end up aligning with Baltimore? And like,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: obviously we wouldn't have ever seen that in these films,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: but we could have at least gotten some inkling of
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: like okay at this. By the end of the fifth movie,
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: she is now officially Naghini the Snake as we know her,
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: never to transform back, and then we see like, I
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: just think that that could have been closed off in
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: some way if we were getting more films.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I think I said in our last Unanswered Questions
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: episode that this is like that thing that I'm forever
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: going to be bitter about because I was so excited
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: to get in Nigini's backst I wanted, like, I feel like,
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: that's such an interesting character and an interesting story arc,
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: and I'm just I'm so upset, Like I feel like
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: we would have gotten it, and we were going to
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: get it, but because people didn't like Crimes of Grindelwald
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: so much, they gave a lot of characters the acts
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: who would have otherwise had their storylines continue on the
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: third film and she.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: I think I think COVID COVID did was also the
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: reason why they did. They couldn't have the the actress
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: black Back Claudia Kim, So I'm still not sure she
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: wasn't they didn't plan to have her in the plot
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: of movie Free or maybe you're right, maybe it's just
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: the reception of Crimes of Greendeval. But I'm sure when
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: they wrote Crimes of Greendeval, they were planning to have
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: Negari for the following at least the following movie, because
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: she was such an important part of credence journey, and
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: like we said, Credence was supposed to be on the center,
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: at the center, I think of most of the plots
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: when they created the first two movies, and they switched
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: a bit in the in the third one. So yeah,
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: I but they were they were constructing the team to
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: be we we we saw at the end of Crimes
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: of Greendoval. Did she she should have been in the
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: in the the new squad, the extended squad for them
- 1:46:57Speaker 3: with with use of camera and with U with the
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: other four so free because Queenne was on the other side.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: But yeah, she was supposed to be with them, with Jacob,
- 1:47:11Speaker 3: with Kemma, with h with Newton Antina.
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: I mean, I think even if if the issue is
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: is that like logistically they couldn't have the actress there,
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: like even if there could have been like a line
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: added somewhere to kind of explain like she was trapped
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: and sent off to you know, or something to kind
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: of just because it's like right, like you said, at
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: the end of that film, it's like there she is,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: like with our with our good crew, and she's such
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: an integral part for credence, and then to just be
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: kind of like just gone from the picture. And obviously
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: she's such a big character, like she's not a new
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: character per se. And I think, honestly, for me at least,
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: her character was one of the most shocking things they
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: did in this series and introduced the series because of course,
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: through my first reads of Harry Potter, like all those
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: years ago, I would have never pictured the Nighini was
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: anything but always a snake, and so it was such
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: an interesting plot point to throw in and to like
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: really surprise us, I feel like, to then just us
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: to now just have all these unanswered questions.
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: It's just sad.
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean I guess at the end of
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: the day, we do know her fate. I mean literally,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: you know, we know she becomes a snake. She we
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: know she aligns with Baltimore. She knows she we know
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: she eventually meets her end by Neville. But I want
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: to know that in between, because it's like you introduced
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: us to her, and she was a good person and
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: a good character. So what went wrong? Was it losing credence?
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: Like did that have something to do with it?
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: For me, it's not enough, you know, it's not enough
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: to lose credence like that. It's right and like and
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: also the just this concept of maledictions. It would have
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: been such an interesting thing to see Newt interact with
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: with her, like I mean, that's something weird for him too,
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: but interesting like you're you're human, but you can you
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: you can turn too into a snake and that's so cool.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: And it would have been something very new for for
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: for her to to to have Newt interact with her.
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: And yeah, we got we got robbed of a beautiful
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: friendship that could have been into you Guini. And even if,
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: like you said, it would have to end with something
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: that we lead, uh lead her to to become the
- 1:49:51Speaker 3: Negini that we know, But yeah, I don't know if
- 1:49:55Speaker 3: if if if it was a tree something like I
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: don't know something or maybe just yeah, just the fact.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Maybe it's just the once she's fully a snake, she
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: lose her human brain. I don't know. That's it's also
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: something possible. And maybe it's just that Vaudemont manipulated her
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: and was the first person who formed a connection with
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: her since she became a snake fully a snake, So
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: that's maybe just that, and she's not She was not
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: bad before before she met Vaudemont, and she just it's
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: just for them that manipulated her. But it's sad to
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: think that she'll lose her agency.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: And well when you think about I mean, not many
- 1:51:00Speaker 2: humans would be able to talk to her when she's fun.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: I think we talked about that on an old episode
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: of Like it could have been if she's just alone
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: and having to stumble across like Baltimore, and here you've
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: got this human who can talk with her. And maybe
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: she does still have a piece of her in her
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: brain there that remembers being human or has something there
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: like it's not like maybe she does lose her human brain,
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: but she is also not like fully snake like as
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: if she was born a snake, and so does form
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: this connection with him, because after all these years, hey,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: there's this this first person I've been actually able to
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: communicate with. I don't remember when we talked about that,
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: but I feel like we talked about that.
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: I feel like we did too.
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I really think that it's it could totally
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: be that, and that Unfortunately, we know Baltimore is very manipulative, right,
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: and maybe I think we talked about maybe he even
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: promised I can change you back into a human, and
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: you know, that seems something very much like Baltimore would
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: do it. Yeah, we definitely talked about in one episode.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: Can't remember what, but we definitely talked about this, and
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: you know, and that that makes sense. But yeah, what
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: a plot though, to open up in this series to
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: then just now us have this major missing middle piece. Yeah,
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: and even just her role with Credence and everything, like
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: she obviously played a big role for him, and just
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: the irony of that, like her being so aligned with
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: a Dumbledore to then later in life be aligned with Baltimore.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: It's just the dichotomy of that is just very interesting.
- 1:52:45Speaker 2: All right. Well, I mean, just like our last Unanswered
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: Questions episode, we could go on for a very long
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: time about this but for the sake of time, we're
- 1:52:58Speaker 2: gonna wrap it up there. But I'm sure we'll be
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: revisiting some of this at a future point as well,
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: because there is so much to talk about. Still. Yeah,
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: specialis for our rotating segment for this episode. We are
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: doing Besilis Velio about the Achemy because why not keeping
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: it on theme here. So I thought this would be
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: a cool opportunity to look at kind of the meaning
- 1:53:43Speaker 2: behind the Acheme's name, because it is one that has
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: interesting etymology behind it. The Achemy is one of the
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: original creatures in the Fantastic Beast textbook, so it's been
- 1:53:57Speaker 2: around since before the films, and alchemy is actually a
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: word that is used to describe a metallic composition imitating silver,
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: so fake or counterfeit silver, which we know achme egg
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: shells are made of silver, so interesting it fits. I Also,
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: I can't find a really good source for this, but
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: hp wiki and a few other websites have been speculating
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: that Acme also derives from the name of the English
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: philosopher Okham, as in Okham's Razor. Okham's razor is a
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: methodological principle that states that when evaluating two competing explanations
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: for a situation, you should go with the simplest one
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: or the one with fewer components to it.
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: So I don't know. I know this theme methodological, but
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: I didn't know it had a name.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, So of course it's kind of funny like
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: for any of the magical creatures to carry that connection
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: to Oukham's razor, because if you think about how muggles
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: really try to come up with like so many ways
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: to explain away their existence, when really the simplest explanation
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: of just magic they exist is the one they should
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: probably go with instead of jumping to all these other conclusions.
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: So I thought that was kind of funny. We also
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: know that alchemis are coroneb ti sis. I'm probably saying
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: that was so wrong or able to change their size
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: to fit the available space, which this word coronet tixists
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: is actually invented by JK. Rowling, who had based the
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: alchemy off the myth that fish grow to the space
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: available to them, and when she found out that wasn't true,
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: she realized there wasn't a word to describe that phenomenon,
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: so had to make one up, and that is the word.
- 1:56:19Speaker 2: And could we have come up with a harder.
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: To pronounce word, But actually I was just thinking with
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: the Okham's razor thing, sorry, like this, I think that
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: I could really see the whole Okham's razor playing in
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: with the alchemy, because I could see especially someone like
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: new right like IMG, oh my god, I'm magic zoologist
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: triven over all words here at the end, would just
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: want to be able to explain away, like how the
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: heck can this creature grow really big and grow really
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: small and all of that. And it's kind of like
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: you could have a very simple explanation of well, it's magic,
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: or there could be a very complicated expel nation involving
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: physics and all this kind of stuff, and at the
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: end of the day, it can do it because it's
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: a magical creature.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: It's just the space that's available to it.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: The definition of the Okhum's razor.
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: So I did. I brought up that word, the corn
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: eptixis word, because I wanted to break that down too
- 1:57:23Speaker 2: and kind of look at the meaning behind that. Cora
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: is a Greek word meaning region, land, country, or field,
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: and Ebtixis is a genus of c snails, So those
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: small spiraling shells that you see on beaches, those are
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: from sea snails. So I was kind of thinking maybe
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: the reason for this combination of words has to do
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: with the reference to a large area and a more
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: confined area, as in the shell in one word, kind
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: of illustrating that ability to inhabit and take up the
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: space of both options, both ends of the scale.
- 1:58:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm wondering if it means like more coora
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: is the space and eptixis is the feeling the space,
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: like being in your shell. So your shell became the
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: space of the Yeah.
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: Yeah, but I just thought that was kind of fun. So, yeah,
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: that's the etymology behind alchemies.
- 1:58:43Speaker 3: I think she just took a Greek a Greek dictionary
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: and just choose the most difficult to pronounce things, put
- 1:58:56Speaker 3: them together.
- 1:58:57Speaker 2: How can we make everyone trip over the worst?
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: And last week have been Adie Redman, who would have
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: to pronounce it so he would be fine.
- 1:59:13Speaker 2: Yeah, totally fine.
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: So last week we asked do you think the prophecy
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: plays a role in Neville's character development? So we received
- 1:59:30Speaker 1: a couple of different responses for this, so Jerry shared
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: to answer the official podcast question, I don't think that
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: the prophecy had much of any impact on Neville's personality,
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: as one, he didn't know about the prophecy, and two
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: I don't think that the death eaters who attacked his
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: parents knew about it.
- 1:59:46Speaker 4: Either.
- 1:59:47Speaker 1: His personality was impacted by the damage done to his
- 1:59:50Speaker 1: parents and his being raised by relatives, while perhaps not
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: quite as uncaring as the Dursleys were to Harry, weren't
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: the best.
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: Jerry also says on another issue, I do believe that
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: Neville did learn to cast a corporeal patronas with his
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: new wand that actually chose him and the motivation of
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: leading and teaching others during that final year at Hogwarts,
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: I think he was able to master the spell. I
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: have two possibilities for what it was. Either he became
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: perhaps the only person to have a plant patronis. Think
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: of the womping willow or a man drake who can
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: move from pot to pot when mature, or that special
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: cactus which spurts pus that I can't sell without looking
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: it up, the mimbulus mimble telling her that we talked
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: about last episode, or his patronus is something that is
- 2:00:38Speaker 1: tied in with his mother. He seems in the hospital
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: winning visit to be a bit closer to her, treasuring
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: the gum or candy rapper that she gave him. Harry's
- 2:00:48Speaker 1: was a stag even before he knew that his father
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: was prongs. We don't know enough about Alice to know
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: if she had a patronus or some other animal that
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: represented her, but the magic would know.
- 2:00:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that idea.
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I just picture Neville having a womping willow.
- 2:01:06Speaker 4: But trum, how cool that.
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: Would be and just the like the different, like the
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: womping willow, just like playing like whack a mole.
- 2:01:15Speaker 4: Some mentors using it some.
- 2:01:19Speaker 2: Yeah, super cool.
- 2:01:25Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: We also had a response from Carolyn who said yes,
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: because the prophecy death theaters do not attack and torture
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: Neville's parents, which means he grows up in a loving home,
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: not that his grandmother didn't love him with his parents
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: taking care of him. I mean, I think the biggest
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: reason for Neville's lack of confidence is his grand constantly
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: comparing him to his father. He even says he thinks
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: he is almost a squib and Book two and is
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: afraid to study herpology because his grand didn't approve, but
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: his parents had they not been tortured to insanity would
- 2:01:58Speaker 1: probably have been more supportive.
- 2:02:02Speaker 3: Mm hmm. Yeah, but I I think I'm more I
- 2:02:05Speaker 3: agree with Jerry that I don't think the prophecy was
- 2:02:09Speaker 3: the reason why uh Never's parents parents were attacked. It's
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: just because they were in the in the order. But yeah, mhmm.
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting, kind of two sides of the same.
- 2:02:27Speaker 3: But yeah, the result is the name is the same,
- 2:02:29Speaker 3: is that it's the attack on the on the on
- 2:02:34Speaker 3: Never's parents that forge his personality is not and what
- 2:02:41Speaker 3: caused the attack, even if it's the prophecy or just
- 2:02:45Speaker 3: the fact that his parents were fighting Voldemort.
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: H Yeah, so Felicia replied to Carolyn, saying, MY initial
- 2:02:55Speaker 1: reaction was that no one knew about the prophecy, so
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: how could it have But you make such a rape point.
- 2:03:00Speaker 1: Neville's parents wouldn't have been tortured for information about Baltimore's
- 2:03:04Speaker 1: whereabouts had he not tried to kill Harry and subsequently
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: lost his powers.
- 2:03:12Speaker 3: M okay, I didn't realize that the reason why they
- 2:03:19Speaker 3: were tortured to get information was connected to what happened
- 2:03:27Speaker 3: with Harry's with Harry's so so.
- 2:03:31Speaker 2: He wouldn't have disappeared if he didn't try to go
- 2:03:35Speaker 2: carry out the prophecy.
- 2:03:37Speaker 3: Uh, good point. But yeah, yeah, no, they're right, be
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: absolutely right because if if it it was just an
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: attack from it because they were exposed because they were
- 2:03:59Speaker 3: fighting Voldemort. But if if nothing happened, if there was
- 2:04:05Speaker 3: no prophecy and nothing happened with the Potterers, they would
- 2:04:09Speaker 3: just have been killed by the the demon. The defeatis
- 2:04:15Speaker 3: they would not have been tortured to get informations.
- 2:04:19Speaker 2: That's true.
- 2:04:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean having parents been killed with also affected
- 2:04:27Speaker 3: but not Yeah, I don't know how different it would
- 2:04:33Speaker 3: have been for him. Mm hmm hm. Good points everyone.
- 2:04:44Speaker 2: All right, So our discussion question for this episode is
