- 1:56by to Towner's last aka, we are here to talk about The Little Mermaid,
- 2:01you know, alongside some other things, but this will definitely be our
- 2:06Little Mermaid spoiler field review, even though there's not much you can really spoil
- 2:12about a movie. Well, I mean you could for me because myself,
- 2:22I've never seen The Little Mermaid, the original order remake, I ain't never
- 2:29seen no Broadway play, I ain't never seen I've seen you know, clips,
- 2:36big Gas clutching pearls. But I mean, The Little Mermaid was the
- 2:39very first Disney movie I've ever seen Highrelife, and it holds a very very
- 2:46special place in my heart. So this movie was important to me on many
- 2:51different levels, but also from the most basic it was my favorite Disney movie
- 2:55because it was the first. It was the first time I got jumped by
- 3:00you know, Big Mickey, and ever since you know, been stuck in
- 3:02that that Disney life. So I don't know what the first one I ever
- 3:06saw. I remember seeing Bambi's mom get murkeed as a kid and baby way
- 3:10after the fact, being like that was pretty cold bloody, you know,
- 3:14like, but I don't remember seeing like I don't even remember seeing the whole
- 3:16movie. Then. I think I walked in and I was like, oh
- 3:19wow, you know, and it was like all right, you know,
- 3:21kept the moving. Um So I don't I don't. Yeah, that's a
- 3:25yep, this was my first one, soul. I don't remember. That's
- 3:30well, that's crazy. I mean, I mean, I don't know.
- 3:31I mean, I don't know. Maybe it wasn't a Disney vault by the
- 3:35time it came around and you didn't care. I don't know, but no,
- 3:38no, no, I remember it specifically like when Beauty, like that
- 3:40was when they had their big because there was there was like dead years for
- 3:45them, you know, and then they had Beauty and the Beasts and then
- 3:47they had Little Mermaid. I remember, but I also just remember not giving
- 3:51shit. I do remember like at the Osters when they showed the effects of
- 3:55Beauty and the Beasts and there's like this shot where Beauty and the Bell dance
- 4:00and the camera goes around them, and how they did it, and I
- 4:02was like, oh, that's crazy. But I still didn't watch the movie,
- 4:05you know. I was like, Okay, that's a shot, you
- 4:08know, but you basically did it. Oh that crazy when you just want
- 4:11the person to end the conversation. But how y'all did that? You know?
- 4:16But now that I've seen that, that's all I need, you know.
- 4:18So I was like, all right, cool. And then I never
- 4:20saw The Little Mermaid for pretty much same reasons. And yeah, I just
- 4:26never saw them join it. I think I've seen Beauty. I've seen most
- 4:29of Beauty and the Bees. Aladdin, yes, recently, not till I
- 4:32was grown, though very recently, like very recently. I thought it was
- 4:36amazing. I thought it was amazing. The Lion King, Yeah for the
- 4:41most part, you know. Yeah, so so said The Little Mermaid.
- 4:46The Little Mermaid twenty twenty three. Well with the old version, that animated
- 4:49version of original. That was always my shit, right, And I known
- 4:54that ship front to back, So I actually and I know a lot of
- 4:58people went in saw some critics talking about how they had low expectations and in
- 5:02one hand, I don't blame them because coming off the heels of live action
- 5:06Lion King, which I didn't really like, uh like that, and then
- 5:11also a Laddin, which fared a little better, but it's still kind of
- 5:15fifty fifty depending on who you ask. A lot of critics had low expectations.
- 5:18I had high expectations, namely because of one woman, young lady,
- 5:24young queen, Hallie Bailey. Yes, knowing what I know about her,
- 5:29I've been following her her sister since you know, they were younger, when
- 5:31they would be on YouTube singing. Obviously continue to be a fan of them
- 5:34when they were on like Grownish and because and a lot of people don't remember
- 5:39for some reason, like like Hallie and Chloe. But they've been acting.
- 5:43This ain't new to them, right, So they've been in the game,
- 5:46they've been had, are developing the chops, if you will write. So
- 5:50I was expecting high quality. I was expecting, and it's Hallie Bailey,
- 5:58one of you can argue, probably one of the best voices of the generation
- 6:02right now, nine voice of that generation, I mean of this generation.
- 6:08She because she considered Gen Z millennial. She's like young twenties, so millennial
- 6:13right, But which one? I never know millennials older. Yeah, so
- 6:16gen Z she definitely. But the point is, yeah, so she's I
- 6:21disagree with nothing you just said right there. She's an incredible actress. I
- 6:25watched every season of Grown Ish. I think I loved it up until they
- 6:30switched to Junior. I was good after that because come on, man,
- 6:36come on man. But that being said, I always thought that Hallie and
- 6:41Chloe were a great part of that. They can asses off in it.
- 6:45Uh, Chloe was great and um swarm you know they're moving on and how
- 6:49you know? I was anticipating this. So I was anticipating this even having
- 6:54never seen the first one. And that's saying and that's a big deal,
- 6:57and that's the that's the tip. I was one no matter what. Like
- 7:00it's Hallie, right, and Little Mermaid is known for these songs. Most
- 7:04Disney movies are obviously known for the songs, but particularly this one because this
- 7:10has such a long, rich history and there have been TV shows and animations
- 7:15and you know all this other side show shit, but the movie, the
- 7:19Flagship is what you aspire to be, right, because I mean iconic stuff.
- 7:25So I expected the most and it delivered. This is The Little Mermaid
- 7:30is the best Disney live action adaptation to date. Again, so depending on
- 7:35what side defense you want, that might not be saying much because the others
- 7:39weren't that The Lion King, Aladdin, maybe one other that I don't know,
- 7:45and there's more common, but still I never But the reason why I
- 7:50still think that comment is relevant is because the amount of effort and marketing and
- 7:56money that had went into things like The Lion King, and how that was
- 8:01for a fucking full year of like full force promotion. That was the last
- 8:09Disney marketing summit that I went to was the one where they showed us clips
- 8:13from a Laddin and showed us what they were doing for um the marketing.
- 8:18Do you remember how hard they went? Oh, we were like yeah,
- 8:20it was super hard to remember at the summit even seen the clips. You
- 8:24know, it was we were anticipating it, but nobody was like, oh,
- 8:28yeah, you got this. You know, it was absolutely hopefully and
- 8:33then adding the facts the obvious you are having are being played by a young
- 8:39black woman, you know, a traditionally white character. At the end of
- 8:43the day, though, she's a mermaid. So that's a whole it's a
- 8:46fantasy character, right, so they're probably not even real racist, right cartoon
- 8:52I mean she's a cartoon at that too, but as a mermaid, like
- 8:56your racist murmurs to me ethnicity, right, your racist mermaid. Maybe there's
- 9:01you know, and you'll get into that later. Maybe no races. Your
- 9:05race is mermaid and your ethnicity. I don't even know if they have such
- 9:09things as a mermaid, right, Maybe they do, depending on what ocean
- 9:13and what. I don't know. I mean, your water is colonized.
- 9:20I mean, if they were, then they got races, you know,
- 9:24like if they were, then they'd have no idea to concept what your water
- 9:26is colonized? I don't know, ven I mean, but this movie does
- 9:30not go into that whatsoever needed did? Fortunately? Yeah, but I don't
- 9:39think Disney's gonna hire you to make the sequel, Ben, I mean probably
- 9:41not what that not with that thinking, I don't think. So this movie
- 9:45delivered it. Yes it was. It was the best out of the bunch
- 9:48so far, but it gave me what I needed. It did what needed
- 9:54to be done. Hallie did what needed to be done from her delivery,
- 10:00her encapsulation of the character of Ariel, that heart and soul that goes into
- 10:05Ariel. Ariel is a very headstrong, fourth right, fun, life loving
- 10:13character the whole. And you said that even though you've never seen the original,
- 10:18you do know just from pop culture what the story is about, right,
- 10:20Yeah, And Ariel also made some questionable choice, at least in the
- 10:26original, so her questionable choices makes sense in the context of her age.
- 10:31I don't I don't think. I don't think. In the movie they mentioned
- 10:35how old Hallie was, and that was me Hallie's Ariel was, And that
- 10:39was on purpose, because you know, liability, you can't say nothing,
- 10:43but you know, like, I think, like, but when when in
- 10:46those times when things like the original Little Mermaid came out based off of these
- 10:50fairy tales where it was okay to say shit like you're getting married at sixteen
- 10:54because you run away from home at sixteen and shit like that. If you're
- 10:58watching this on Twitched, our TV slash for all nerds, you see my
- 11:01face right now stretched up. You know, at first I was like,
- 11:05okay, sixteen, and then the math you think about it, Like a
- 11:09minute Shorty went and got legs, and I'm like, I don't know how
- 11:11far went after that? You know, I got married. Well you don't
- 11:15see. No, there's no sex or anymore. But she got married,
- 11:20was there night? A lot of dolt scenes such as colonialism, colorization,
- 11:26like you're just going off the deep, a lot of sea words to Disney
- 11:30isn't thinking about No, But I do think you need to remember and everyone
- 11:35this is based off a kids movie, and it's built to be a kid's
- 11:37movie. Right. So, like I said, Hallie did the thing.
- 11:41She I'm talking more in the original, That's what I'm saying. Was there
- 11:43did they spend the night together in the original as Mary, No, you
- 11:48saw not that you saw it later on. I can see you're not kind
- 11:50of see it. I mean like no, I'm sure. And like I
- 11:54said, there were sequels and maybe she had baby mermaids, who the fuck
- 11:58knows, But I mean they stay married right end? Yeah, what you
- 12:01mean at the end, it's like Disney movie, you get married the fucking
- 12:05movie. The fucking camera goes off to the sky and mermaid No, no,
- 12:11no, no, not in the original movie. Now again, if
- 12:15they're sequels, what a fire. If they're a sequel, so listen,
- 12:22If there's sequels where that does happen, then maybe, But no, in
- 12:26the I'm gonna give you the Quicker Bridge movie because you're asking, you're asking
- 12:31a lot of questions that you shouldn't be asking me. Sixty year old mermaid
- 12:37loves and is enamored with everything that's not of the sea. She's enamored with
- 12:41the human world. Keep going, She's enamored with the human world and everything
- 12:48that that that she learns about the human world. Right, she's in the
- 12:52ocean. Right, So they're shipwrecks and all sorts of shit as she explores
- 12:54the ocean on her day to day, you know, doing her best ash
- 12:58catching, collecting them all she lets these fucking random human trinkets, right,
- 13:03could be a cup, could be a fork, could be a flute,
- 13:07could be a statue, all sorts of shit she collects because that's her ship.
- 13:11She's a fucking hoarder and she enjoys collecting things that are of the human
- 13:18world because it's it's new, it's something that's all she knows is to see
- 13:20right the bottom of the fucking ocean. Wonderful, fantastic, fast forward,
- 13:26right nine percent of the world, right, fast forward. She she finds
- 13:30out about this Nigga prison Eric. I guess he's like eighteen twenty one,
- 13:35twenty five. Who the fuck knows he's around that age. He's he's he's
- 13:37cute as fuck. She ain't really fucking with the merman like that. She
- 13:41again, she she wants human, She's all about the human world. She
- 13:45falls in love with him, She wishes and pines for his for his attention
- 13:50to love. Right. She gets into an argument with her father that basically
- 13:54makes a runaway from home and in doing so a sea which sees this is
- 14:00the opportunity to use that vitriol and that and that and that breakdown between that
- 14:05relationship between the daughter and the and the and the father to get revenge.
- 14:09And she says to Ariel, hey, they I'll give you legs. I'll
- 14:13let I'll give you, I'll give you a chance to be with your man.
- 14:18But there's there's but there's a catch, right m hm Ariel gets her
- 14:24legs. She she makes the blood pack, and it's blood. She makes
- 14:26a blood pack with the fucking see which gets with magic, gets legs.
- 14:33Her job is to get the prince to kiss her the kiss of love in
- 14:37three days and fast forward to the part where she learns the grasses and greener
- 14:41on the other side and then goes back to her. She don't, she
- 14:45don't, she don't. That don't happen. That don't happen. Flash forward
- 14:48to the part where she learns from No No She She learns that she she
- 14:54that her father loves her, but she abandons him. Essentially, she's sixteen.
- 15:01You don't think about that. You don't think about I don't feel like
- 15:05I felt like that at sixteen, but you don't. You don't be thinking
- 15:07about that. Shite my long term implications at sixteen, Like I've already seen
- 15:11all the YouTube videos that you know, explaining how Ariel made terrible choices,
- 15:16and how terrible choices has a very bad message at the you know, bottom
- 15:22of it, And I have to agree having hearing your rundown, because it's
- 15:26that's a terrible message, you know, like to give up ninety percent of
- 15:31the world that you rule over. It'd be like if at the end of
- 15:33Coming to America, she's I mean she could potentially, I guess she's daughter
- 15:39of King Triton, who rules. It'd be like if coming with the end
- 15:41of Coming to America, Eddie Murphy is like, NA, I'm good and
- 15:45gave up everything for shorty, it wouldn't happen in Eddie Murphy's movie. But
- 15:48why isn't up in the Aeriel Because it's based off of a Western fairy tale
- 15:54that chooses values that are maybe not congruent with what makes sense. Because many
- 16:00women. That's reason, the main reason why a lot of a lot of
- 16:06Disney movies there is no mother or they get killed in the beginning, right
- 16:12bamby Um. Yeah, So anyway, uh, messages for women have bound
- 16:22in Disney films. I guess a lot of a lot of a lot of
- 16:26function happens in between those three days. Um. Coming down to the final,
- 16:32the final countdown where essentially Ariel ends up killing the sea Witch. An
- 16:37Ariel, with the help of Ericans, somewhat ends up killing the sea Witch.
- 16:41She ends up breaking the spell, freeing everyone who was on the spelling,
- 16:45you know, including she kills the goddamn it. I'm saying Disney is
- 16:49very technically violent. She killed that nigga, the bitch, She kills her
- 16:56um and her dad. Seeing that, like, you know, all everything
- 17:00said and done, she's still pining for the human world and to be with
- 17:04Eric, Prince Eric, her father is like, you know, because her
- 17:07father feels like her father is all in his emotions about how he made her
- 17:11run away and all this shit. Her father blames himself and he goes,
- 17:15you know, I just want my little girl to be happy. He uses
- 17:17his own powers to give her legs permanent. Damn, he could have done
- 17:21that a weight earlier. That's why I'm like, you could have did did
- 17:22this, sir. But you know, but my thing is the other part.
- 17:25You don't know his father, the father hates humans and hates the human
- 17:27worlds. Humans killed Ariel's mom, so she don't. He's basically magneto,
- 17:33you know, fuck with non mutants. He ain't with it. Understandable,
- 17:37understandable, right, yeah. But at by the end he has a change
- 17:41of heart because he just wants his daughter to be happy. He gives her
- 17:42legs permanently. She runs up, pulls up on Eric and be like,
- 17:47I'm here, nigga. They get married, set sail. To make his
- 17:52daughter happy, he abandoned her to colonizers. So that's the original story in
- 18:00this film. That's the original story, and this movie. The twenty twenty
- 18:03three live action adaptation started Halle Belly follows it generally, bar for bar shot
- 18:10for shot frame for frame, I was like I was seeing the outline of
- 18:15the animation as I was watching in my head, because that's how ingrained in
- 18:18my mind. It is so for that way, it pleased a lot of
- 18:22people who were fans, right because like they didn't really deviate. There were
- 18:26some changes. There were some adjustments, some slight adjustments, some which worked
- 18:30and some which did not. Maybe explain that later, but but the point
- 18:34is overall it was a good film. The casting. Obviously, Hallie,
- 18:41she's a fucking Disney princess. No one can, I mean, the prototypical
- 18:45live action Disney princess like you gotta be huh if you if you try to
- 18:51be the Princess of all princesses and love, you gotta be Hallie. And
- 18:53I don't think it's gonna happen because you ain't got the voice, nor the
- 18:56talent, nor the charisma and all that stuff because she had at all.
- 19:00And Um, you really were completely enamored with her and connected with her.
- 19:04Um the rest of the casting. Prince Eric, he looked like the nigga
- 19:08in the cartoon. That's the most I got to say about him. Um.
- 19:12Melissa McCarthy as Ursula disappointing to me, not that she did a horrible
- 19:19job, but it's just like I expected more of the characterization Rsla, And
- 19:22further, I would personally did not like her as being casted as that character
- 19:27I've always seen Ursula. Ursla gives drag queen tease. Yeah, and to
- 19:33be a drag queen like you have to have a certain caliber of energy and
- 19:38confidence and the commanding of respect. And not that she didn't, It's just
- 19:45I needed more. It just it was just I didn't want to say tune
- 19:51in scenery because I feel like it's giving too much to say that. It's
- 19:52just it wasn't could be really good. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 19:57Yeah, And it wasn't even that. It just wasn't as bold as I
- 20:00thought it could be. It was just a lot of yelling. Uh yeah,
- 20:03see that's not really chewing. Bold chewing sometimes yelling yelling is out.
- 20:10And she looked good in the costume slash. It was really cgi like,
- 20:15it looked cool generally, But I just I've seen better. I've seen better.
- 20:19I've seen better. Fucking have you ever seen or that means you haven't
- 20:22seen the live action play that they did on ABC a few years ago,
- 20:26where Queen Latifa play God. I mean, there's no comparison there and Queen
- 20:30as it was fucking amazing, you know what I'm saying. So, and
- 20:33she didn't have the CGI and all that other ship. So I don't know,
- 20:36I just expect it more. It wasn't horrible acting, but it's just
- 20:40Javier Bard him. He paid King Triton flat as fuck, surprising, flat
- 20:45as fuck, not much emoting, not much emoting going on, like No
- 20:48Country for Old Men. Yeah, yes, there was like maybe towards the
- 20:56end, like I told you that the story. Towards the end, King
- 20:57Triton gives his door's legs and it's like, I love, but it was
- 21:00just like is the nigga crying or can he cry? But he looked like
- 21:04a totem trying to cry, and I it's just it was a stiff.
- 21:11It was giving. It was giving stiff. No, it was giving stiff
- 21:15as in Harvey is not stiff, you know, like it was giving stiff.
- 21:19It wasn't giving me anything. He was just kind of just and every
- 21:25fucking scene it was this is brooding, this is mad, this this is
- 21:30sad. Like no, I said, no, country because he plays that
- 21:34role and that's that character. Yeah, but in no other roles is he
- 21:38ever like that that due could be a wild boy when he wants to be.
- 21:41He he wasn't giving, He wasn't giving. He was just wow,
- 21:45he was flat for me. Um. The other thing about the Little Mermaid
- 21:52is she's supported by a want to know about. Yeah, she's supported by
- 21:56a few animals, sec faring creatures. She's supported by mainly by a crab
- 22:02named Sebastian. Oh, she's supported by at least no, no, no,
- 22:07don't go, don't still, let me get right now him okay,
- 22:11because he's the one that everybody wants. This is like like about like being
- 22:14like she supported by jar draw beans and let's move on. No, no,
- 22:18no, no, it wasn't like that at all, like that at
- 22:19okay, But that's what I'm saying, Like what what skin? From what
- 22:22I know of, you know, the talk around the original Sebastian, and
- 22:29when I've seen him in clips, I've been like, well that's interesting.
- 22:33I don't know how I'd like that for a whole movie. You know.
- 22:36So dv Dix played Sebastian in this film, and he was he was the
- 22:44best supporting character who he was the best supporting And let me explain the context
- 22:48of which he embodied Sebastian and again, the original Sebastian you knew. I
- 22:55might saying, mother it's good or bad. I'm just saying the original Sebastian
- 22:59you knew. He provided the levity him, him, and and funny enough,
- 23:03Aquafina who plays Um Guttle the bird Um. In the original it was
- 23:10a seagull and this one is like some of the diving birds. But anyway,
- 23:15so David Diggs and Aquafina, they actually played really well off each other
- 23:18and they brought fun too, especially in this in the in the areas of
- 23:22the movie where it was more like dark or sad, they did bring fun
- 23:26to it. Like they did offer the levity that that scene or area of
- 23:30the film needed. So they did what they were supposed to do. That's
- 23:33all right. The thing is, like David Diggs on Blackish, I really
- 23:37enjoy I think he's you know, good. I like Aquafina and um some
- 23:44sh uh. You know, I still have issues with Aguafina, I do
- 23:49too, ye, big big, big issues David. Even though like I
- 23:53said, just to continue, he he played the role well, and the
- 24:00kids. He's gonna be a kid favorite. And I remember, y'all,
- 24:02this is this good kids movie, and it's definitely tracks like a kids movie.
- 24:06Um, I hated his fake ass. To make an accident, there
- 24:11we go. That's what the hated. That's what I mean. Like,
- 24:17I like the Vid, but as soon as you said him and picturing him
- 24:21doing it, I was like, whoa the I mean, they might as
- 24:23well have cast Shaggy because at least you would have have even a slightly more
- 24:26authentic tone. No, the thing is Shaggy, don't you know. Let's
- 24:30put no disrespect to him. He blew the fuck up. But that man
- 24:33is one of them, like you go back to his roots. He is
- 24:36a Jamaican dance tall king, you know, Like that man is a you
- 24:40know, Jamaica. Like he ain't no fake, you know, not Devid.
- 24:42I don't know what his origins are, but I've never heard it.
- 24:48Devita is David is black father, white mother Americans. He's not. He
- 24:55doesn't. That's a bad choice. No, oh, it might as well
- 25:04have been. Honestly, And actually, when I did the fancasting sandcasting.
- 25:08When I did the fancasting years ago, I said it should have been Shaggy.
- 25:12Yeah, Shaggy would have been amazing. But you know why David got
- 25:17it right with lind Man Lineman. Oh yeah, Linden was also part of
- 25:22the music. Oh you just hit me with the original with so Glad.
- 25:30I watched that Lakers Day, Lynn went well, Miranda, I'm sorry I
- 25:33can't say his name, but uh, lyrical, spiritual, I'm saying.
- 25:37That's the only reason. I'm just saying, like they are long time collaborators,
- 25:41so I would think there could be some connection there. I don't know,
- 25:45but yeah, I hated. I hated like them. And like I
- 25:53said, this movie follows bar for bar the same tone, cadence and the
- 26:00same literal script as the original movie. So Sebastian is saying Barbara bar the
- 26:06same things he said in the animated version. But as as as I mentioned,
- 26:08with that fake ass, fucking Jamaican ass, and it bothered the fuck
- 26:15out of me. Them little kids eating that up, and you know that
- 26:17ain't gonna be doing that fake That's what I'm saying. It's so disful.
- 26:21Shaggy would have been so much better. Oh man, Shaggy would have been
- 26:26per ship and also and what and again as someone who has Ariel and original
- 26:32little memory deep in my heart. Whenever I would hear Divid's version of Sebastian,
- 26:37I only heard the original like I would kept comparing it against the original
- 26:41voice actor Sebastian E. Wright Samuel E. Right, excuse me, Sebastian
- 26:48Sorry, mister Wright, Samuel E. Wright. Um. All I did
- 26:52was hear his voice, and then I kept making the comparison like this doesn't
- 26:56sound right. Like I just kept saying, no, this isn't right.
- 26:57This right For little kids who've never seen a woman mermaid, which was going
- 27:02to be the majority who comes to see this, that's what they're gonna have
- 27:04as the voice of the thing is don't sleep like because of Disney plus some
- 27:08things in that nature. Most hits have seen a little mermaid like already and
- 27:14multiple times a lot, have a lot, have it a lot, have
- 27:17not a lot, have not especially like like I was there, like two
- 27:19year old or three year old little girls. Yeah, but ain't that time
- 27:22to you can't see that. And they've seen a lot of Disney stuff and
- 27:25know it like Frozen is this fucking shit to them? But they've never trust
- 27:30is don't blow up after this, but they're gonna go home wanting to see
- 27:33this home again and that's all their mom got. Yeah. So so honestly,
- 27:37in that way, it was disappointed to me. Did he do a
- 27:40good job? Yes? Did I like how it sounded? Absolutely not.
- 27:44Um No, I'm disappointed in any American doing a fake Jamaican adsent. That
- 27:48is just like, I don't think in this day and age, they shouldn't.
- 27:51They don't have to, especially for a character that's already so questionable to
- 27:55Jamaicans. I know, you know, like Sebastian is. I think that
- 28:00that's a big misstep. It's it's yeah, and butel you know, I
- 28:04mean, because my thing is, why else would you cast again? And
- 28:08this is not this is no shade to divide, But how would you make
- 28:14that logical leap from let's think about getting a Jamaican or even something a little
- 28:18closer to jipmaking sounding to let's get divide. It's a it's a leap,
- 28:26and it's again, no shade. He's a talented act I like him.
- 28:30Yeah, I do too, in certain roles. I just didn't see it.
- 28:33But anyway, yeah, he was one. He's one of the main
- 28:36supporting characters. For Ariel. There's also the bird, as I mentioned Um
- 28:40played by Aquafina. She did a good job. Yeah. I have my
- 28:45issues with her, and you know I have the time. I don't even
- 28:47like her, but she did a good job and she was a great foil
- 28:51against David Sebastian. Yeah, that's once again I echo everything you said.
- 28:56I have my issue with her, but on screen she usually does a good
- 29:00job. Yeah. The other actually big let down was Flounder. Flounder is
- 29:07the fish, the old yellow fish. That's that's that's Arial's bestie, bestie
- 29:11because because the fish can't really go above water like the other two can.
- 29:15Right, He's like he's like arm in an attack on Titan before he became
- 29:23a Titan, like soft as fuck. I don't know the arm in reference,
- 29:29but I believe it. Sharman is what we call him. But he
- 29:33soft as fucked. But he used to be anyway. But anyway, no,
- 29:37no found soft. Flounder soft. But he's like the cowardly lion type
- 29:41where like for the end he gets it, he gets his yeah, you
- 29:44know, he gets his gangster, but in the beginning he's who you know
- 29:48that Yeah, um disappointing because he might as well have been erased from the
- 29:52movie because he did nothing. There was no reason for flounder but to be
- 29:56there, you would have never known you. I have never known flowers.
- 30:00There. There was a position, there was a part in the movie where
- 30:03the nigga was flopping on the deck of a boat like a fucking magic cart.
- 30:08But all right, I keep forgetting and oh wait, I saw your
- 30:12gifts today. So these are like actual animated there are like it's a crab.
- 30:18That that leads me to the next point of what I don't like about
- 30:22these live actions. How did that nigga that die when he's flopped? Hey,
- 30:26So I just like, you want to know why? Because as I
- 30:29sat there the question him, I said, wait a minute, he's gonna
- 30:32die. Dvide pushed that nigg in the water. He said, okay,
- 30:33you gotta get out of here. He literally said, okay, we gotta
- 30:36get you back in the water because because you're worthless, you're a magic cart.
- 30:41But that at the as I was leading onto, that gives me back
- 30:45to the points of what bothers me about these Disney live actions. I do
- 30:52not like photo realistic live action talking animals. No, that was one of
- 31:00the downfalls of the lion King. You cannot emulte as a photorealistic talking animals.
- 31:06Photo realistic talking animals don't have fucking eyebrows and make bugged out cartoonish faces
- 31:11because they don't have those facial features to do. So. The reason why
- 31:15the link, why you feel when symbol is in complete and utter just just
- 31:23terror when the herd is coming down the mountain is because of how he's drawn,
- 31:27the fear in his eyes, the way the jaw drops, and like
- 31:33everything, all the context clues, especially as humans, all the context sclues
- 31:37that show you when someone sad, mad, angry, whatever. You can
- 31:41do that with a cartoon because you can impose humanistic traits on a cartoon.
- 31:44You can't do that with a photorealistic animal because there are no there are no
- 31:48frown lines. There don't know this there at that. You can cheat it
- 31:51there, it's a crap. You can cheat it some ways, and they
- 31:53did. But the best one, the best Sebastian, was the only one
- 31:56where they really were able to cheat it like that because as Crabby has these
- 32:00two fucking eyes up here, so sometimes they would get real big and real
- 32:04like the pupils were get a little bitger, but it wasn't enough. It
- 32:08wasn't enough. So I so when if Sebastian or Founder or anybody was startled,
- 32:14they always looked startled like because they're fish and crabs and birds. This
- 32:20is just like, yeah, this is just like when once again, going
- 32:22back to that Disney summit, at the same one, they showed us footage
- 32:25from the Lion King and I've still never seen a live action Lion King,
- 32:29but remember nothing. Everyone in the room once again was like they said,
- 32:35this, ain't it like because you can't. And again that's where the the
- 32:39voice acting comes in because it's like you have to then lean so fucking heavy
- 32:44on the delivery of the line, but dulous emotion when like it's a lion
- 32:50or a crab talking and they're seeing some sad shit and they just dropped the
- 32:52plating face, the pla the one watch man face like actually again it wasn't
- 33:05no I know they add, you know, like like try they tried and
- 33:08actually can look they didn't have a real because lions to look sad, you
- 33:13know, like, I don't know, bro, kids look sad like I've
- 33:16seen a dog. I saw a dog the other day. Dog that was
- 33:20would have broke your heart. The nigga just falling down. The dog does
- 33:23other things, right, It goes whimpers, it puts his head down,
- 33:27the ears go down, this other thing. Yeah, but his eyes too,
- 33:30it was all in his eyes. Yeah. Do you know lions that
- 33:31be doing shit like that? I mean with me, I ain't never seen
- 33:36a lion fall downstairs. That's when the dog had done, so he was
- 33:40quite sad. Dogs is like one step away right from human, so like,
- 33:45yeah, dogs is tight. And also we're trained to pretend as humans.
- 33:49We're training to pretend these humanistic traits in dogs. Yes, we just
- 33:54oh that nigga's happy. The nigga is just panting. He's not happy.
- 33:58He's a dog. His mouth is over and that's the main thing. Anyway.
- 34:00These animals can't do that and don'ts Yeah, yeah, they have emotions.
- 34:06These animals in this film can't do that. And that's my one of
- 34:07my biggest hangups about these live action adaptations. It's like they're photo realistic,
- 34:12so they don't emote us to you. Yeah, um like the other crabs.
- 34:21Some motherfuckers is like yeah, oh you see that craft. The way
- 34:27the film looked from a visual's perspective, it was beautiful. Um, there
- 34:31were to me very small Some people may say more so, but they were
- 34:36very small times where I was just like, okay, that looks a little
- 34:38funny, like, um, like maybe a fish a mermaid flying by too
- 34:43fast, swimming by too fast, or something like that. You know,
- 34:45it's just but it was a small yes right to me. Nothing that took
- 34:51it away, because at the end of the day it looked really, really
- 34:52good. The lighting was flattering. Anyone who told you it looks murky and
- 34:57ugly, they're fucking lining, they don't know what they're doing, or they're
- 34:59seeing a bootleg, because that's not how it looks on screen. It looks
- 35:01very, very good. The colors are a bit more muted. Um,
- 35:05I think some people really wanted super dumb, vibrant clothes, which you do
- 35:08get in different scenes of the movie, but like particularly underwater, like they
- 35:14compensate for being fucking underwater, right, Like certain colors will pop more than
- 35:19others. All right, I see. That was one of my things.
- 35:22Like when I saw the first trailer, that's all I've very seen. It's
- 35:24the first trailer, and I was like, yeah, it's kind of dark,
- 35:27especially coming off of Avatar, which was super bright for the most part
- 35:31under the water, and then comparatively to even with Conda Forever, which was
- 35:37more of the murky style. It was it's way brighter than Conde. Yeah,
- 35:42I mean Condefever was quite dark. It was actually hard to see the
- 35:45under the water Conder Forever. But no, you see everything perfectly in and
- 35:50Little Mermaid. There's nothing. There's nothing wrong with that visually, it's it's
- 35:53actually some things they do is you're pretty stunning. Like there's this one scene
- 35:58where the introduction of Triton where they go into his throne room and he's surrounded
- 36:04by his daughters of the Seven Seas and he's he's swimming up to his throne.
- 36:08He turns around his fucking cape train whatever you want to call it.
- 36:15It's made out of like trout or fish or something. It's made out of
- 36:20like fifty of them, and the way that it moves and like undulates,
- 36:24it's fucking insane. It's actually like it's again kudos to the animators, like
- 36:29they really made some beautiful work in this film. So I thought it was
- 36:34enjoyable, and um, you saw Mermaids of all that, I was talking
- 36:39about ethnicities earlier. You saw mermaids of all colors, shapes, and sizes.
- 36:45So you saw you saw thin mermaids, thick mermaids, black, white,
- 36:52Asian like, you saw them all. They were all generally represented and
- 36:57um kid mermaids adult like, they were all there. I say mermaids as
- 37:04a catchall to all of them, right, but yes, merman too.
- 37:07But they were all there. So murder them, Yeah, I like that.
- 37:10Murder them, auto murder, murder them, auto murder them. Was
- 37:15there, big up massive. They was all representing, and particularly Tritan's daughters.
- 37:22I there was this one daughter. Her name is Tamika. She had
- 37:25she starts skid regals fuck the way. And that's why I tell people,
- 37:30like when people say that it wasn't it's not a good looking movie, they're
- 37:32fucking lying. Because the way that they animated and dressed the mermaids, the
- 37:37colors and the patterns of their like built in bras and outfits or whatever the
- 37:44fuck ben when you see her like I was, I guess because when it
- 37:49Because what he does is in the beginning Triton, after he's introduced, he
- 37:52says the name of his daughters of the seventies, and they the camera stops
- 37:57on each one of them, right, and each one of them represents different
- 37:59areas of the world. So you have a Russian looking one, you have
- 38:01you know, a Southeast Asian looking one, you have a South Asian looking
- 38:07you know what I mean. Give all these people, and then you get
- 38:07Tamika, which I presume is like from off the coast of Madagascar or something.
- 38:13I don't know, but that's Atlantic Ocean though I don't know, but
- 38:19maybe, oh maybe she is Atlantis. I don't know, but but they
- 38:22said seems too so it could be anything. Anyway, point is unbelievably gorgeous
- 38:28and and all of the people were unbelievably gorgeous. Looks great. Uh what
- 38:34else can I say about? Oh? The music. I think that's the
- 38:37biggest part. The music, all the original songs that they did. Blew
- 38:44it out, the wad of phenomena, No no complaints. It's fucking Hallie
- 38:47Bailey. She she did, and and her even some of her rendition because
- 38:52she did it slightly different with her own flourishes, her own all that some
- 38:57of her stuff is actually a little better that I think than of it.
- 39:00Like really, it's like Okay, well, and might I say better,
- 39:02I mean that I like it better, not that you know her arrangements especially
- 39:07yeah, yeah, her and the sisters together, like her runs, yeah
- 39:13everything. I mean, like you said, she's one of those ones,
- 39:16you know, like both of them are one of those ones. Like,
- 39:20yes, they aren't many like them, Like I really love them especially.
- 39:23I mean, I know they're like doing their solo stuff, but I love
- 39:25the fact that they brought that harmonizing game back to the R and B game
- 39:30because it would have been so lost because so many people are doing the thing
- 39:35where it's like they do the tip talks and instagrams where they're just they're doing
- 39:38everything themselves, you know. So because of that, you don't have this
- 39:42conflict in the chaos and even the camaraderie that's that's made by two or three
- 39:49different voices because one person can do different parts, but it's not the same
- 39:53because voices have timber, they have inflections. It's just that they have humanity,
- 39:58you know, and that's what's missing, It's like, and so I
- 40:00love them for that. I've been a big fan of them. No,
- 40:04they but they have a humanity in this and I mean obviously and music.
- 40:08Her arrangements was just impeccable and and and even in the original songs, they
- 40:15they did some difference, a few different flourishes here and there that weren't in
- 40:19the original And because it's Hallie and she sounds the fuck good. It was
- 40:22amazing. Yeah, the new original songs, lin Manuel spiritual. Of course,
- 40:34line Manuel put a rap in there. Oh the Little Murmaid has no
- 40:37raps. It's it's it's Broadway Disney singing. It was like when it came
- 40:43out, it was like super early, like no, no, no,
- 40:46no, no, no, no, no, no, no, Disney
- 40:47don't even now do you know any maybe one movie do you know this movie
- 40:51that really be niggas be rapping like that. I mean they kind of did
- 40:53it, and I thought they did it well in Um, but that was
- 40:57more the rock style is in in Moana. Yeah, yeah, song that
- 41:04sing song, sing song because that that like crabbing to see he has some
- 41:07bars that nigga was spitting boy in that journey Crabs in the Sea. Yeah,
- 41:12no, the one when they when they go in the water. Yeah
- 41:15no, no, not no, not I'm not in that. I'm talking
- 41:17about in Moana crab that man. But he's singing, yeah, shiny,
- 41:24that's shiny you're thinking of shiny? Yeah, he was stunting on the mode.
- 41:29Yeah. No, that music is phenomenal. Yeah, this original,
- 41:31original stuff, and like I yeah it was. It was a bit hit
- 41:36and mister me, there was one song where I was like, they should
- 41:38have cut the funk out of this would have saved five minutes out of the
- 41:42movie if it was even that long. Prince Eric has an original song clip
- 41:45that shit, it's a chop for me. I hated it. I hated
- 41:51it. I'll be honest, I've never been a fan of Lynn Manuel.
- 41:54It's like musical stylings. I've just always felt that he is one like he
- 41:59was I do who did the lyrical miracle spiritual whips in the ciphers, And
- 42:02I've just never felt him. And I definitely know or from what I know,
- 42:07I'm gonna say definitely, but from what I know, his politics have
- 42:09always been weird to me. He's always been weird to me. Like I
- 42:13just I thought Hamilton was a hot mess. I think the idea of using
- 42:16hip hop to represent slave owners is wild, and yeah, I just never
- 42:22understood it, Like I never crocked it, never got with it. I
- 42:25think when he involved in some of the music Malana too. I mean he's
- 42:29been involved in a lot of different Disney production. Yeah, it's been Yeah,
- 42:30I don't know, I don't know what he didn't that that's actually good
- 42:34music. Smells like an op. But you know that's that's always been me.
- 42:37Yeah, Prince Eric is a chop. It was a chop like most
- 42:42of the time. Yeah, I said that rap. Uh, that rap
- 42:46belongs to Akwafina. There was definitely old. The rap is specifically scuttle.
- 42:53It's a new song. It's scuttle song and the name of the song,
- 42:57the name of the song is scuttle. But take these to the stomach then,
- 43:00yeah, like you already it's literally it's everything you hate in one place.
- 43:07I mean straight up, like you got lyricle, miracles all that shit.
- 43:14Yeah, like I mean, just the idea of Aquafina rapping with her
- 43:17fake hip hop, fake blackness. Yeah, and the lyrics weren't like horrible
- 43:22or nothing, but it's just like again, the kids will probably love it.
- 43:27You and I and other people who may have know the history of this
- 43:30lady may feel differently. Yeah, um, there was there was another original
- 43:37song that Ariel sang Hallie saying that was good. Again. Anything Hallie touched
- 43:43was gold, platinum, diamonds, jewels, rubies, everything. Anything she
- 43:47did, she even literally quite literally her standing there and smiling or looking into
- 43:52the camera was like Oscar like you want it to be and protect Aria at
- 44:00all costs. And that's how I felt every time she was on screen,
- 44:01like truly in awe of her. And as mentioned, just everyone else to
- 44:06vary degrees support it that that vision. So we talked about the way it
- 44:13looked, the visuals, We talked about the music, the casting, and
- 44:16just overall I would say that it's worth watching if you are interested in curious
- 44:22of what it looks like. It's still the niggles aside, it's a good
- 44:25movie. It's a good movie. It doesn't deviate too too far from the
- 44:30original, and it gives you the main thing is the main thing, which
- 44:35is Arial and you get that. So just so I mean spoilers, But
- 44:42does it end the same way? Yes, slightly different way of how they
- 44:45get to that end, but yeah, yeah, but so basically she abandons
- 44:50the see for some dude how couldn't tell it? And the way they did
- 44:54it it was a little ambiguous. I wouldn't say abandon because like at because
- 45:00for all you know, she's still visits the visits the people's like at the
- 45:02end, and they did the same view at the end when she's riding off
- 45:07to the sunset with with ye really at this point, some dude, But
- 45:12she's right off in the suns of repose Eric, like the murr people who
- 45:15remember, the murder people and the people of the land were not fucking with
- 45:17each other and all the other stuff. Now they've realized harmony and unity and
- 45:22maybe they can live together as one. The murder people, like the people
- 45:27on land are waving. Then the murder people come up from the water.
- 45:29Usually they hide from the humans. They come up from the water and integrate
- 45:32fully with the people on the land and they're all waving and loving on them
- 45:37and all that other stuff. Yeah, that smells like obst to me.
- 45:40Again, murder them humans, murder people, stay away from it. And
- 45:45I mean, but then I think you would like to you would be pleased
- 45:47to know that there is commentary and in the original and in this one about
- 45:51humans eating fish, there is commentary on that, Like they're like, how
- 45:54could you be friends? Were the human. All they want to do is
- 45:57fry us. That's actually part of the Basha sings a lot about that.
- 46:00I'm pastorta, so they sing a lot about that. They just think they
- 46:07they do. They do talk about that type of hardship like why and and
- 46:09and Triton calls humans, he calls them all source of names. To be
- 46:13honest, like he really goes in on them. He calls them barbarians and
- 46:16some other shit. Um. And you know at the very end he not
- 46:22just lets he enables and facilitates her to go off into the sunset. A
- 46:28bit of a failure. Their dad. She said thank you father, I
- 46:31love you at the end, because I don't think she ever said I love
- 46:34you to him. And what other es you're an idiot, you're an idiot.
- 46:45Um. Oh they did one day. I didn't want to say.
- 46:49They did an amazing job on the animation of area for me. Other the
- 46:52other reason being it being Holly and her being black, she has blocks.
- 46:57They and they did this mixture like kind of like how my ears now It
- 47:00was locks but also like loose hair like kind of goddess situation, goddess locks
- 47:05high and they were like beautifully animated, flowing all the time. But you
- 47:08like, she's a black girl. There was no ambiguity about that she's a
- 47:13black girl. And you saw the locks and it was flowing. They was
- 47:15looking cute. Even when she was above ground. They gave her slightly some
- 47:19some slightly new look, but it was all locks. Nice. Yeah,
- 47:22So I was happy about that. I was I was happy at the end
- 47:24of the day. I was fucking happy. What questions any other questions you
- 47:28have been on men? Like? Overall, I think you know, I'm
- 47:30happy to see you, like you said, this black woman and they belie,
- 47:34you know, other little black girls to see themselves in a magical fantasy
- 47:37role. And also for you know, her to come out shining because of
- 47:40all the hate that she went through. So I'm happy to see that.
- 47:45It wasn't like, oh damn, you know, it wasn't one we gotta
- 47:47be like nah, you know it's Hallie. You know we got defending no
- 47:51matter what, you know. And the screaming, the screaming I went to
- 47:53a majority. I mean, even though people had seen in as early as
- 47:57last week, a majority of the the press saw it last night actually,
- 48:01and so it was tens across the board for the most part, like everyone
- 48:07had some not everyone. Some people had similar um like you know, things
- 48:12they liked and did not disliked, but overall very very positive. So I
- 48:16I'm thinking this is, this has to at least get in the eighties when
- 48:20it comes to Rotten Tomatoes, if you know, if not a little bit
- 48:22higher, but at least mid eighties. I would hope, Um, this
- 48:25this is worth it was worth supporting even with trash because this Hallie. But
- 48:30but it's not like I want to support her endeavor, so I would still
- 48:35do it anyway. But no, it's actually a good movie, okay,
- 48:37And it's family friendly. It got all the typical shit that happens and sometimes
- 48:42in these family quote movies where some scary stuff might happen that might not be
- 48:45suitable for super super young kids. There was one little girl who she was
- 48:49so tired she fell to fuck asleep, so you know, and and other
- 48:52new girls who's like in it like this and whatever, you know what I
- 48:55mean, um, and and again, and there were some there was some
- 48:59weird scenes and things happening that I just like inadvertently laughed at that I knew
- 49:02you were supposed to laugh at because it just didn't look right. Um,
- 49:07it was just strange, but it didn't take away from the overall win that
- 49:09this movie is. So I really do hope everyone sees it. I do
- 49:13hope people. I mean, the hate that Hallie received was absolutely ridiculous.
- 49:16WHS you knew that ship was going to happen, racism and all the other
- 49:21ship but it's completely unfounded. It's completely unfounded. This requires and this this
- 49:25to receive praise. All right, Um, yeah, I'm probably catch it
- 49:34on Disney Plus, but you know, I'm fine when I do. You
- 49:37know, maybe I'll watch the original. It looks really good on big,
- 49:40big screen, so if you can see it. I think it's also has
- 49:44an IMAX version, So if you can see it in an Imax, seed
- 49:45in Imax because you will just get that much more vision of like the ocean.
- 49:50The best scenes were when they were in the water. To be quite
- 49:52honest with you, yeah, I'm sure. And then all the other accoutreman
- 49:55going on was fine. But uh yeah, I can't think. I don't.
- 50:00I think I pretty much got everything. I can't think of anything else
- 50:02or any other like I know, someone had asked me when I posted my
- 50:08social review because I can't say everything. They asked me that she wear more
- 50:13than one dress. No, they asked me because because did she have I
- 50:15don't know why that was relevant, but they did ask me that. No,
- 50:19she's say where it's the same one blue dress the entire time, you
- 50:23know, the dress becomes a character. Yeah, they wanted to see her
- 50:25stunt, that's why. Yeah, but no, you don't really. I
- 50:30mean she's a new dresser then, but it's like you're not really pay attention
- 50:31to no, godam dress. It's live action. They don't even spend no
- 50:34time on the fucking clothes like that, Like it just fits the whole.
- 50:38And I did think of slavery, but if it's that whole colonial way,
- 50:43way, what time I thought a slavery because of where it's technically located,
- 50:46right, Like I think it's supposed to be like Dominican Republic type area because
- 50:52it's in the Caribbean and number one Wow, and Chris Prince goes off for
- 50:57the Colonizer a straight up and down calling us well, also, here's the
- 51:00thing the way Disney doesn't you know, because they're they're they're they're flipping everybody.
- 51:05So Prince Eric's parents his mom is the Queen and she's black, and
- 51:12she's if I'm not mistaken, she's frigga from the Watcher, not the Watcher,
- 51:17the Witcher do you remember barely anyway though, but the queen of what
- 51:25England? They don't say, They just say the Queen the Queen, but
- 51:30it's but it's clearly like it's like one back in the days when they were
- 51:36calling that fucking space Hispaniola. Like it's like those types of whoa, yeah,
- 51:40it's like that time, Frank alrighty uh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 51:47So that's why I said, like the first thing I thought, I
- 51:50was like, okay, well there's some slaves potentially, but but but it's
- 51:53also a Disney movie. Excuse me, not slaves but enslaved people. But
- 51:57it's also a Disney movie, so they're not gonna clear they're not gonna put
- 52:00that in there. It's literally multicultural casts and supporting casts and background people living
- 52:06the life on a fucking random pretend island with a random pretend black clean with
- 52:10her white ass son, where we also note that he's not, I guess
- 52:15biologically her son. They make a hint about it. I'm like, why
- 52:21did y'all even say anything. Who gives a fuck like doing like how y'all
- 52:22did Cinderella where the sun was like Asian and WHOOPI Goldberg was his was his
- 52:28mom and no one cared that, no one asked questions, just do it
- 52:30that way. But they he says, oh, I what did Eric say?
- 52:35He goes, yeah, well my mom found me. He goes,
- 52:37my mom found me. I wasn't born into this, And then it's so
- 52:43funny. He starts about to say his history and his fucking Fonsworth Bentley Nigga
- 52:47pulled rolls up and go, hea, you're saying too much. Like he
- 52:51stops him before he could finish telling his story. So I'm like, oh,
- 52:53he was basically adopted. Unnecessary y'all on But anyway, Yeah, that's
- 53:00that's everything, you know. We gotta keep this race thing in order,
- 53:04you know what I mean. The colonization's gonna work. We got mature,
- 53:06y'all noted, we're different over year. Yeah, that's everything. Good movie
- 53:12overall. Watch it. Bring your kids, bring them all, have a
- 53:15blast. Halle. I'm happy to support Holly and everything, but I'm just
- 53:21still concerned about the messaging for young women. You know, I feel like
- 53:23that's crazy. What what is your deal about the messing about running from home
- 53:28and turning your back on your people and yeah, I mean everything you just
- 53:30said. And the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.
- 53:32Um. I could go on and on, you know, like the fact
- 53:36that you rule ninety percent of the world and you're give it up for ten
- 53:38percent. Uh, you know, no messaging about colonizers and you know,
- 53:43like staying with the native get off the colonize said that would never be a
- 53:45message In the Dizey movie lesson What do you talking about? They had these
- 53:49white men are dangerous, like they don't play around the same You have ever
- 53:52seen a since? It's because it have you ever seen a since? No?
- 53:57No, so that you'll never see it. Yeah, that's technically a
- 54:01Marvel movie. That's Marvel even though it's owned by Disney, it's still Marvel.
- 54:06That's not I'm saying, a full Disney movie. Do they ever talk
- 54:08about that shit? No? No, okay, but they do talk about
- 54:12like empowerment and stuff, and they do talk about power, and they try
- 54:15to play this off because that's what they original where they try to play this
- 54:16off as empowerment. They were like, yeah, she's a head strong young
- 54:20woman, like why are you holding me down? And Prince Eric echoes the
- 54:22same thing. Stop trying to keep me in this castle. I want to
- 54:24live my life YadA yah meen and all this stuff. Yeah whatever, be
- 54:29um. Yeah, I gotta say. You know, Eddie Murphy didn't have
- 54:31been in his team and at the end of coming to America, So why
- 54:35should she because she's six Well I don't know how old she is in here,
- 54:37but in the in the animation sixteen better. No, you have to
- 54:43care how old to you because that informs the reasoning or non reasons for why
- 54:45she makes it. I mean, like, dude, it's supposed to be
- 54:47like twenty one I think, right, and something like that coming to America,
- 54:51right, because he's turning come to America. Yeah, I guess.
- 54:52Yeah, yeah, So sixteen it's very different from twenty one than I mean,
- 54:58it's still very young, but that's also very every different mindset. Eddie
- 55:00Murphy would never abandon this stead because he's the man. Eddie Murphy did not
- 55:05sail to Hispaniola to marry it up. Now with the queens, there you
- 55:10go. Yeah, I already made the good decision. In that beginning part.
- 55:15Indeed, yeah, I did the same. Um all right, So
- 55:20I think that's about it. That's it. If you guys love what you

- 58:35do with anyone comics all ready, Yeah, I'm when I say, and
- 58:40this is what we've been hinting at for what like six months now. But
- 58:44where we said, Ben, I mean's we're gonna something really really really really
- 58:46really big. And he couldn't see anything, but he just wanted to let
- 58:49y'all know the depths of proud that I am for this man from my brother.
- 58:54Is it those no bounds? I am just I've already passed all the
- 59:00super emotional stuff because I've just been sitting here waiting for him to be able
- 59:01to tell y'all. But now that he's able to tell y'all, like,
- 59:04I am so proud and so happy and just I'm full man, like I'd

- 59:50of what me and Mellow have done on this book. It is and love
- 59:52to Mellow too, Mellow. Mellow, Mello's my guy as well. You
- 59:55know, I just wanted to make sure that I but I mean, but
- 59:59I mean, you know, I'm with him on the podcast every day,
- 1:00:00like, yeah, this is my brother. So I wanted to make sure
- 1:00:02that I gave you your flowers and your love and all this other stuff.
- 1:00:06And yes, kudos, big ups to Mellow. I love you too,
- 1:00:08Mellow. I'm proud of you, Melo. You already doing a damn thing.
- 1:00:12Appreciate you. I'm glad to see this happen. I'm glad to see
- 1:00:14y'all come together because Melo and a lot of people don't know unless you're a
- 1:00:17really long time listener. Melo was part of the production for this show and
- 1:00:22when it was fan ro, so you know he was. I think he
- 1:00:23was also doing the wrestling stuff, like like Mellow's the guy so I'm very
- 1:00:29happy for him. Yeah, Mellow has been around. I've known Mellow actually
- 1:00:32longer than even this show. It's just that I met him when Twitter.
- 1:00:37When I first joined Twitter, he was one of the first people I met.
- 1:00:38And we've been through a lot together. You know. We both were
- 1:00:43writing on American Gods together. We've done multiple things since, and that's my
- 1:00:49brother. But this is like our first thing together that is actually coming out,
- 1:00:52you know, because our season of American Gods never made it to air.
- 1:00:57A lot of our ideas did, but you know, at season.
- 1:01:00So this is the first thing that we've got together coming out. And like,
- 1:01:05I'm just so, there's so much more. I don't want to spend
- 1:01:08another half hour talking about this, so y'all y'all yeah, or the last
- 1:01:13episode or every other episode, because I might have more to say and I'll
- 1:01:15be doing more interviews and everything on it. But come back, make sure
- 1:01:19you're subscribed. Follow us. Like I said, go to your local comic
