- 1:02Speaker 1: Yes, sir at this rapping shit Sy High the Prince.
- 1:05Speaker 2: The show, I Mister Got. Y'all know the name, yo?
- 1:09Speaker 4: First of all, brother, what what has been the like
- 1:13Speaker 4: the whole up? We've been waiting so long for new music,
- 1:15Speaker 4: new albums? So No Dope on Sundays was a fucking
- 1:20Speaker 4: incredible body of work. And it's funny because I didn't
- 1:23Speaker 4: realize how long ago it's been because I you know,
- 1:27Speaker 4: I was talking to Ace. It hit me and I'm like, yo,
- 1:29Speaker 4: what For some reason, I was like twenty eighteen, twenty nine,
- 1:32Speaker 4: it was twenty seventeen though in eight years.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, it's like to be honest.
- 1:39Speaker 3: That's why I named my album the Story of Mister
- 1:41Speaker 3: e Got. I want to give you a little context behind.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Yes please, the acronym e Got is Emmy Grammy Oscar
- 1:48Speaker 3: Tony right, and it was thought of by Philip Michael Thomas.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So he's the black guy from Miami Vice. Yeah.
- 1:57Speaker 3: So he had a bunch of dreams and a bunch
- 1:59Speaker 3: of musical and acting at you know, things that he
- 2:04Speaker 3: wanted to do in life, and he never.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Got to do.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Those things do to politics and people not believing in them,
- 2:10Speaker 3: and I think that.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Comes you know, I relate to that.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Okay, So being a hip hop here from Atlanta is
- 2:18Speaker 3: a dynamic thing when you go to these labels and
- 2:21Speaker 3: you're telling them like, hey, I got eighteen samples, but
- 2:26Speaker 3: where's the trap song? That too, But a trap song
- 2:31Speaker 3: is easier to clear clear.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You know, pay this little young produce with some money,
- 2:36Speaker 2: print it out. Whatever.
- 2:38Speaker 3: With me, I'm really trying to do something that's groundbreaking,
- 2:41Speaker 3: something that lasts forever, something that you know, stays in
- 2:45Speaker 3: people lives. And you know, I have these A list
- 2:48Speaker 3: artists where unfortunately my friends aren't like local jokers.
- 2:53Speaker 4: If I could say, also not the easiest things to
- 2:55Speaker 4: clear people, A lot of your homies are on major labels.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Exactly, you got to push, you got not push. It's
- 3:00Speaker 2: hard to clear, but you got ya traf.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You got all these A listeners. So you know, I
- 3:06Speaker 3: think it scares them a lot of times. So a
- 3:08Speaker 3: lot of things I have to like work through a
- 3:09Speaker 3: lot of the business side of it to really get
- 3:12Speaker 3: the piece of work that I want to put out
- 3:15Speaker 3: versus like a diluted version of right.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 3:19Speaker 4: So for you, it's been kind of so I can
- 3:22Speaker 4: only imagine, right, there's probably so many different versions of
- 3:26Speaker 4: what your next album is supposed to be. On this
- 3:31Speaker 4: album is it because you probably never stopped recording?
- 3:35Speaker 2: Right? No?
- 3:36Speaker 4: But what what is like what made because over this
- 3:40Speaker 4: period of time, is there a lot of older stuff
- 3:42Speaker 4: on this project that like was just no matter what
- 3:44Speaker 4: this is so time was so good that whatever I
- 3:47Speaker 4: do next this has to be on it.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Or was it all new stuff?
- 3:50Speaker 3: Like well, I would say about eighty percent of it
- 3:52Speaker 3: is new. Twenty percent of it is like stuff that
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yay gave me just out of the like you know,
- 4:00Speaker 3: he man trying to wrap on that. Man, I heard
- 4:02Speaker 3: you on this beat and I've always kept it to
- 4:05Speaker 3: like really add it to a body of work. But
- 4:07Speaker 3: I think, you know, at the end of the day,
- 4:10Speaker 3: most of it is done in this you know, past year,
- 4:14Speaker 3: year or two, and like I said, it's just something
- 4:18Speaker 3: that I'm just working through, just trying to get everything together.
- 4:20Speaker 3: On the business side, the clearances, these are a list
- 4:24Speaker 3: artists and a lot of times, man, these labels don't
- 4:28Speaker 3: be one to clear because they rather me help the artists.
- 4:32Speaker 1: They rather you come in lend your pins, right.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Yes, because they it's usually a swap.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Yeah right right, you know what I'm saying, Yeah, I'm
- 4:40Speaker 4: gonna come and help you out, but I need the future.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But then they're like, man, if we get this metal feature,
- 4:44Speaker 2: who's gonna do you? In a sense? You know. So
- 4:48Speaker 2: I think a lot of that goes into it.
- 4:50Speaker 3: But it's just me like, at the end of the day,
- 4:52Speaker 3: want to be great and want to put out a
- 4:54Speaker 3: great body of work. And it's nothing that it is
- 4:57Speaker 3: cheap to do. And I think a lot of time
- 5:00Speaker 3: people have cheapen hip hop. So you know, when you
- 5:05Speaker 3: look at you know, your greatest albums all time, it's
- 5:07Speaker 3: gonna take a little bit of effort. And you know
- 5:11Speaker 3: all the money that I spent far as flying around,
- 5:14Speaker 3: you know, facilitating these sessions, and you know, I might
- 5:18Speaker 3: stay with an artist for a month and a half
- 5:20Speaker 3: just to get this feature, but I got to pay.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Hotels, flights, you know what I mean. I'm doing a lot.
- 5:26Speaker 3: So it's just you know, but it's getting prepared and
- 5:30Speaker 3: it's ready to go. So we got a few more
- 5:33Speaker 3: little kinks to work out, but it is how are
- 5:37Speaker 3: you releasing the album? So right now, I'm with empirement
- 5:42Speaker 3: because I wanted to be able to see something from
- 5:44Speaker 3: this album as well. I don't want to be able
- 5:46Speaker 3: to give it to a major and they, you know,
- 5:49Speaker 3: not do what they supposed to do, and it's like
- 5:51Speaker 3: you be critically acclaimed, but you don't get none of
- 5:54Speaker 3: the residuals from it. So I wanted to make sure
- 5:56Speaker 3: this time I'm critically acclaimed because that's just what I am.
- 6:00Speaker 3: But also I get to see the residuals from you know, you.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Need to own your masters.
- 6:04Speaker 4: And like the thing about like what's stuff about Empire
- 6:07Speaker 4: is that they will do the label shit for you
- 6:10Speaker 4: right right, but you don't have to worry about giving
- 6:12Speaker 4: up like the music, you know what I'm saying.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's like it's a good situation over.
- 6:16Speaker 4: There, and they're really good at like you know, I
- 6:18Speaker 4: feel like you're the type of artist that needs to
- 6:20Speaker 4: be in those Grammy conversations and they've done a really
- 6:24Speaker 4: good job of of like you know, whether it's like
- 6:28Speaker 4: the Freddie Gibs Alfredo projects was a project that was
- 6:30Speaker 4: on Empire.
- 6:31Speaker 1: That was nominated for a rap out there. Sure, so no,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I think that's a good fit.
- 6:35Speaker 3: And they and they and they're moving like a major now.
- 6:38Speaker 3: So you know, they got Shaboozi Shaboozie.
- 6:40Speaker 1: The number one biggest Billboard record of all time is
- 6:42Speaker 1: the Empire, right.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So they're they're understanding that side of it, and that's
- 6:46Speaker 3: what I That's what I love about them too. So
- 6:48Speaker 3: I just think, like I said, it's a few kinks
- 6:50Speaker 3: we need to work out. But I think on the
- 6:52Speaker 3: most part, I think, you know, we're gonna get it
- 6:54Speaker 3: together and try to get it out the next couple
- 6:56Speaker 3: of months.
- 6:57Speaker 4: That's important, man, talk to me for you like I
- 7:01Speaker 4: feel like, you know, I always have these conversations where
- 7:03Speaker 4: I feel like there's a few rap Jedis, I think
- 7:09Speaker 4: of Loop A Fiasco, Black Thought, Royce, I don't want
- 7:14Speaker 4: to forget. I mean, there's a lot of guys, you know,
- 7:16Speaker 4: Freddy's in that convo. I think Jid's getting in that convo.
- 7:19Speaker 4: But you're in that conversation where you are one of
- 7:22Speaker 4: just you know, one of the guys that nobody wants
- 7:25Speaker 4: it with. And when we talk about just mastering the
- 7:29Speaker 4: the skill of just this MC shit, you are in
- 7:32Speaker 4: you know, a tier of your own. You have very
- 7:35Speaker 4: few peers. Do you feel like you're underrated for is
- 7:40Speaker 4: it because of the lack of music that you know?
- 7:43Speaker 4: I mean, because you have some amazing mixtapes like Black
- 7:46Speaker 4: History Mixtape I've just listened to a few months ago.
- 7:49Speaker 1: We got to bring that PIF back.
- 7:50Speaker 4: But but like, why do you feel like you're a
- 7:52Speaker 4: little underrated? Because you've had these huge moments on records
- 7:57Speaker 4: and you have you know, even when when No Jope
- 8:01Speaker 4: on Sundays came out, I mean, fuck man, everybody was
- 8:03Speaker 4: fucking like I feel like you said, like that was
- 8:05Speaker 4: critically acclaimed, people loved it, but you're still underrated.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Why do you think that is?
- 8:10Speaker 2: Because I make you know what?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Man?
- 8:15Speaker 2: I was talking about this the other day.
- 8:16Speaker 3: It's like I'm just a solid nigga, So I make
- 8:19Speaker 3: sure my friends are overrated. And a lot of times,
- 8:23Speaker 3: like I grew up being this high level rapper and
- 8:28Speaker 3: I've always got that accolade. And I have peers that
- 8:33Speaker 3: never got it right and they called me, and I
- 8:36Speaker 3: feel like I give a lot of my time to
- 8:39Speaker 3: their projects, you know what I'm saying. So a lot
- 8:42Speaker 3: of things, A lot of the albums you guys love, My.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Energy is there.
- 8:47Speaker 1: You're in the room.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Yes, I'm not gonna say which ones.
- 8:50Speaker 5: It was easy to figure that out, right, but you
- 8:53Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, I'm in the room, so I
- 8:55Speaker 5: think that's what's you know, been my thing, and I
- 8:59Speaker 5: want to you know, that's why I named the album
- 9:01Speaker 5: mister Egot as well.
- 9:02Speaker 2: It's just me being a part of.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Those think tanks of music and you should use this sample,
- 9:09Speaker 3: you should shoot the video like this, you should dress
- 9:11Speaker 3: like this. Like a lot of that is my influence,
- 9:14Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So I want to be
- 9:17Speaker 3: able to show that on my album and people can
- 9:19Speaker 3: actually see like, oh, this is what he's been giving
- 9:23Speaker 3: us for the past twenty years or fifteen years since
- 9:26Speaker 3: you know, you've really heard me in the I would
- 9:29Speaker 3: say from what I was, I would say my career
- 9:33Speaker 3: like officially started like two thousand.
- 9:35Speaker 2: And nine ten era.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Right, because Girls Summer was twenty ten. That was on
- 9:42Speaker 1: my Beautiful Dark No, I know, but I'm thinking, yeah,
- 9:45Speaker 1: you're right, you were you Oh yeah, you were dark
- 9:48Speaker 1: because you were you were part of the whole, the
- 9:50Speaker 1: whole what was this shit called when y'all had the
- 9:53Speaker 1: suits on the and the good Fridays. Yeah, you are
- 9:57Speaker 1: some of the best, good Friday record. By the way,
- 9:59Speaker 1: that is one thing. For the love of christ. I mean,
- 10:04Speaker 1: Kanye is just putting out random ship right now. If
- 10:06Speaker 1: we could just get a good Friday dsp drop right No,
- 10:10Speaker 1: for sure, that ship that was a fucking era. That
- 10:14Speaker 1: was an era, man, blog era of hip hop. Yes,
- 10:18Speaker 1: good Fridays was like.
- 10:21Speaker 4: What was the the talib record, the chain heavy ship,
- 10:26Speaker 4: the ship with the J Cole.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Record was was crazy looking for trouble, looking for trouble.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, that was the time. Man.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I missed those days too, because it was like kind
- 10:38Speaker 3: of when we were all together, you know what I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 3: not even not even just on the music side, on
- 10:45Speaker 3: the on the fashion side, like with Virgil, was there done?
- 10:49Speaker 2: You know?
- 10:49Speaker 3: I just think, man.
- 10:52Speaker 2: The powers that be broke us up.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Mmm.
- 10:55Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I think the powers that be started Nick picking at
- 11:00Speaker 3: that situation. You know how it be like when you
- 11:02Speaker 3: win a championship and everybody to go to Golden State
- 11:04Speaker 3: and try to get all their players off.
- 11:05Speaker 1: The team or the coaches or the coaches.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what happened to us.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Like he got so powerful that people was like, man,
- 11:12Speaker 3: we'll take We'll take the third stream.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Just give us big shun, come over here, darn I.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Get over So they was just nit picking at us,
- 11:22Speaker 3: and I think that's what kind of like took out
- 11:25Speaker 3: those key clogs in our in our you know, in
- 11:29Speaker 3: our situation. I think everybody start doing their own thing
- 11:31Speaker 3: and then you know it's spared from there.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, not what for you man?
- 11:35Speaker 4: That era at you're kind of like because at that time,
- 11:40Speaker 4: like Sean's not quite Sean yet, right, uh, You're you're,
- 11:45Speaker 4: like you said, new on the scene. It's really like
- 11:47Speaker 4: pusha T's probably the guy because Common wasn't really around.
- 11:51Speaker 4: That was kind of passed, like Common being around the
- 11:53Speaker 4: Good Ship too much.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But now Becoming was around that time during that time.
- 11:56Speaker 1: To change was around to change.
- 11:59Speaker 4: But I just want like what, like what what were
- 12:01Speaker 4: some of your fondest memories were you like, because I
- 12:03Speaker 4: feel like that's a point in time and like that
- 12:06Speaker 4: leading up to My Beautiful Dark Tress and Fantasy where
- 12:09Speaker 4: it's like it's it's there was an aesthetic about that
- 12:13Speaker 4: time period of the Good Music Ship and it really
- 12:16Speaker 4: did feel like you, like you said, like like a
- 12:19Speaker 4: team until it wasn't until it felt like well something,
- 12:23Speaker 4: what's going on? Here, like everybody's kind splintering, everyone's kind
- 12:25Speaker 4: of going their own direction.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You know.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I think, man, it started with I would say yay,
- 12:34Speaker 3: was a lot more.
- 12:37Speaker 2: I wouldn't say.
- 12:37Speaker 3: I won't want to say focused, because he's super focused
- 12:40Speaker 3: at all times.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I just think he was taking his time back there.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I remember he was. He was writing his wraps. I
- 12:49Speaker 2: was like one of the things, like he's he never
- 12:51Speaker 2: rolled a wrap after that.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Little things, those little thing.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I remember he used to walk around with this notebook,
- 12:58Speaker 3: this little yellow and you know, the little yellow thing.
- 13:01Speaker 3: He had all these raps and he would wrap them
- 13:03Speaker 3: to me and I could I was just fanned out
- 13:06Speaker 3: at that point.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I would that that was during.
- 13:08Speaker 1: That time, I'm happy to be here, right, So.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Back in those days, that's I think that's what it was.
- 13:15Speaker 3: And I think, you know, it was coming off the
- 13:17Speaker 3: Taylor Swift thing, and I think he had I just
- 13:20Speaker 3: think that everybody was focused. Everybody was like, we're coming
- 13:24Speaker 3: back to like prove the world wrong that this man is.
- 13:29Speaker 2: The greatest curator, producer.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Artist, whatever to ever live. And I think we accomplished that.
- 13:37Speaker 4: I mean, I think by all counts, like the album
- 13:40Speaker 4: that came out of that period was perfect, perfect, And
- 13:44Speaker 4: I think when you talk about like the greatest albums
- 13:46Speaker 4: of all time, I I just I there's the Omatics,
- 13:50Speaker 4: there's the I think Doggie styles in the Corbo, and
- 13:52Speaker 4: it's like my beautiful darkness and fantasy is just.
- 13:55Speaker 3: And one thing I want to say, I freestyled my
- 13:57Speaker 3: verse off the top off the and that shit was like.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I was just in there playing man.
- 14:05Speaker 3: The story to that is so crazy, man, because I
- 14:08Speaker 3: had you know how they say God gives and take it.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And during that time, my sister was battling cancer and she.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Passed away while I was out there, damn.
- 14:21Speaker 3: And at the same time, I had got a chick
- 14:24Speaker 3: pregnant and she wanted to have an abortion. And I'm
- 14:28Speaker 3: telling her it's like, you know what's going on right now,
- 14:32Speaker 3: you know what's going on, And she wasn't trying to
- 14:34Speaker 3: hear it because at that time she was like her
- 14:37Speaker 3: career was taken off. She's like, man, it's like young
- 14:40Speaker 3: nig I'm dealing with I ain't fnna be And I
- 14:42Speaker 3: was just such in a low place and I'll never forget.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I was on the way to the abortion clinic and
- 14:49Speaker 3: Yay called me from like an eight o eight number,
- 14:52Speaker 3: Hawaii number, but I didn't know it was him because
- 14:54Speaker 3: he didn't have a phone at the time.
- 14:55Speaker 2: He only used email at the time.
- 14:56Speaker 1: He was like super locked in Hawaii.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Right And I thought it was the weed man from
- 15:00Speaker 3: Hawaii because I was he always used to call random
- 15:03Speaker 3: Hawaii numbers. But he hit me like, y'all this yay
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm like what click. He called me back, y'all this
- 15:12Speaker 3: yay man. I'm like, bro quick playing on my phone
- 15:15Speaker 3: hung up again. He called back again, like, man, why
- 15:18Speaker 3: you play like nah? This kin for real? Bro? I
- 15:20Speaker 3: mean here with Jay and b Man. They just told me, man,
- 15:23Speaker 3: I got to keep you on this record. You just
- 15:25Speaker 3: first you did on Stow Parp. Fucking crazy. He just
- 15:27Speaker 3: going crazy on the phone, and I'm just like I
- 15:31Speaker 3: just seen a light at the end of the tunnel
- 15:33Speaker 3: and that moment kind of like saved my life.
- 15:37Speaker 2: He just saved my life in general.
- 15:39Speaker 3: But that right there, him and beyond saying Jay Z
- 15:43Speaker 3: in the room all at one time, was.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Just on a riz beat, on a risk beat.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Just like, yo, you've killed this like I gotta That
- 15:51Speaker 3: was like one of my highlights. And I always my
- 15:54Speaker 3: dream was always to do a record with Yay and Jay.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Is he just separately though?
- 16:02Speaker 1: You come out the gate.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I think God did that. He messed me up.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Man.
- 16:08Speaker 2: I'm like, God, you could have like set that bar
- 16:11Speaker 2: like that was.
- 16:12Speaker 1: You hadn't dropped Real Flush yet, right, that was?
- 16:15Speaker 2: No, that's the album that That's.
- 16:17Speaker 1: What I'm saying, Like Real Flesh was.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it had just came out, or it had just
- 16:21Speaker 3: came Real Flesh mixtape just came out. I'll never forget.
- 16:24Speaker 3: When I walked in the studio, Yay was playing it.
- 16:27Speaker 3: He was playing Stutter, he was playing Sedel, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 3: he was playing all my mixtape joints. And when I
- 16:33Speaker 3: walked he was like yo, and everybody like, oh, there
- 16:36Speaker 3: he goes. It was just like a big ever Rolls
- 16:39Speaker 3: was right there. It was just like this ship is unreal,
- 16:43Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So that was like, you know,
- 16:45Speaker 3: my welcome to the industry moment.

- 17:21Speaker 1: turned it down.

- 17:27Speaker 4: off for the five hundred episode t bootleg cav dot com.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Go get you a shirt. Let's get back to the interview.
- 17:33Speaker 1: What is uh?
- 17:34Speaker 4: It feels like, uh, you know, things are crazy at
- 17:37Speaker 4: the moment, but you know, what is your relationship?
- 17:39Speaker 1: Do you do you currently still have a relationship with Yah?
- 17:42Speaker 2: Yeah? Man, that's my that's my guy.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Bro.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I can't man, that may saved my life, Bro, I can't.
- 17:48Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And you know me, I'm.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Privy to a lot of conversation behind the scenes, so
- 17:56Speaker 3: you know when he you know, says what he says
- 17:58Speaker 3: in the public. I'm a lie more privy to the
- 18:02Speaker 3: full conversation, so he gets to explain it more to
- 18:06Speaker 3: me versus the public just get a little clip or
- 18:09Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I think a lot of the ship that like,
- 18:11Speaker 4: he's the point he was trying to prove with some
- 18:13Speaker 4: of the ship was like very like understandable. It's the
- 18:16Speaker 4: delivery where it's like you're gonna lose a lot of
- 18:19Speaker 4: people with And that's with anything Kanye or not. It's
- 18:23Speaker 4: like the delivery. If it isn't, it's almost like you gotta.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Because you don't know him well.
- 18:29Speaker 4: It's also like it's also like you gotta feel like,
- 18:30Speaker 4: you know, if you had to feed your your dogs
- 18:32Speaker 4: in medicine, you got to put the medicine in a
- 18:34Speaker 4: treat get them to take it, you know what I'm saying.
- 18:37Speaker 1: So I think a lot of shit he's.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Saying about pointing out like, hey, uh, there's an entire
- 18:42Speaker 4: industry that eats off of black trauma and pain and
- 18:45Speaker 4: it's okay. But if I bring up someone else's I
- 18:48Speaker 4: get that point. I get that perspective.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I just feel like the way he you know, but
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think, yeah, I think, yeah, you know, I'm a
- 18:55Speaker 1: fucking but, like I always say off record, bout the
- 18:59Speaker 1: goddamn im about to got him stem player because I
- 19:01Speaker 1: love Kanye so much. It's right there, Oh right, I spend.
- 19:06Speaker 3: But like I said off record, if you get to
- 19:08Speaker 3: sit around him at dinner, or you get to walk
- 19:11Speaker 3: the beach with him on pool side or take a
- 19:14Speaker 3: car ride, is deliver a lot different for sure, But
- 19:17Speaker 3: you know it's you know, people don't get to see
- 19:20Speaker 3: that much of him.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I got to have like a cool convo with him.
- 19:24Speaker 4: I was there the night that Vultures was supposed to
- 19:27Speaker 4: come out, and they yeah, and I went with Tie
- 19:32Speaker 4: and uh that was what was that? At the Four
- 19:36Speaker 4: Seasons in Vegas we finished the album. It was like
- 19:40Speaker 4: it was chaos in that room, but it was so
- 19:43Speaker 4: fucking cool. But I got this was the first time
- 19:44Speaker 4: I met Kanye when I was little because my brother
- 19:49Speaker 4: Rams is his brother is in a group called Dilated People,
- 19:51Speaker 4: so and they opened up the College Dropout Tour. So
- 19:53Speaker 4: I got a picture with Kanye when I was like fifteen.
- 19:55Speaker 4: But then I got to chop it up with him
- 19:57Speaker 4: at that event. It was it wasn't even an event
- 19:59Speaker 4: at that whatever the fuck in his hotel, his finishing
- 20:02Speaker 4: vultures and super nice guy man. But no, I wonder
- 20:06Speaker 4: what are your thoughts man, because you obviously are really close.
- 20:10Speaker 4: You're kind of in this weird perspective perspective because one
- 20:13Speaker 4: you're you're very much tied in with everybody. How does
- 20:17Speaker 4: it feel to kind of see like this push of
- 20:20Speaker 4: Travis thing happening because you're good with both of them,
- 20:24Speaker 4: and you know, for me, it's like it's just like
- 20:28Speaker 4: as a good music guy, you know, like that's how
- 20:30Speaker 4: Lifted put me on the Travis Scott remember the producer
- 20:33Speaker 4: Lifted before our Pharaoh Drop. I remember Lifted was like,
- 20:36Speaker 4: you don't understand this kid's the future, so I know
- 20:39Speaker 4: him through good music and to just see the whole
- 20:42Speaker 4: I guess the you know, whatever you want to call
- 20:44Speaker 4: it's going on right now.
- 20:45Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on that?
- 20:47Speaker 2: Man?
- 20:47Speaker 3: You know, like some people are like dream driven and
- 20:51Speaker 3: some people are like integrity based, and I think those
- 20:58Speaker 3: two things can class sometimes.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And what I mean is.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Like like early on in my career, I had a
- 21:07Speaker 3: beat that no Id Yay gave me that no Id
- 21:09Speaker 3: did Okay Those gonna be My first single is Whoopedy
- 21:12Speaker 3: dude with me and Big Sean. I had to just
- 21:16Speaker 3: settle for it being a mixtape song because it really
- 21:20Speaker 3: need even come out because NAS wanted to beat because
- 21:23Speaker 3: No I d gay to beat.
- 21:24Speaker 2: The Naves, Trav would have went on and put that
- 21:29Speaker 2: out to fuck it, fuck it.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Me, I'm integrity based. I'm like, okay this, no ide this, Yeah,
- 21:37Speaker 3: I gotta this.
- 21:37Speaker 2: NAS. I don't want to mess Nast.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I might want to do a record NOS later.
- 21:42Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, versus I should have put
- 21:45Speaker 2: that out and reconciled with NAS later. You get what
- 21:48Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 21:49Speaker 3: And to me, I think that's what the mindset trapped
- 21:53Speaker 3: me in. Sometimes it's like I got this record. It
- 21:58Speaker 3: might be dissing my partners or disappear by love you know,
- 22:02Speaker 3: fuck with. But it's like, I'm not gonna turn down
- 22:04Speaker 3: a Drake feature, right, you get what I'm saying, versus
- 22:09Speaker 3: like to.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Me, I'm gonna be like, hey, Drake, how you doing? Man?
- 22:11Speaker 2: I love the verse man appreciated. It's just one line,
- 22:14Speaker 2: can you like change that one? Fuck me?
- 22:17Speaker 3: Just so I ain't in the middle of that like
- 22:20Speaker 3: on the on the lighter side, right, you know, try
- 22:22Speaker 3: I ain't do that.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Well I wonder too because you are also like in
- 22:25Speaker 4: a similar because you helped write on Sickle Mode and
- 22:28Speaker 4: a lot of people would say that Drake took some
- 22:30Speaker 4: slight shots.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And that got me in a pickle. Yeah, you know
- 22:35Speaker 3: what I mean. But I didn't know Drake was gonna
- 22:36Speaker 3: be on it.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Because that was the one that got like that record
- 22:39Speaker 4: got finished, really like close to the finished line of
- 22:42Speaker 4: the album being turned in, So you didn't even know,
- 22:44Speaker 4: like I'm writing on this record, there's these issues behind
- 22:47Speaker 4: the scenes, and then the song comes out and you're like.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Ah fuck.
- 22:51Speaker 2: But at the same time, it's like Drake, no album,
- 22:57Speaker 2: and whose song? He can do that? All right? You
- 23:00Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 23:01Speaker 3: You know that if he feel like you ain't gonna
- 23:04Speaker 3: do nothing, he gonna put it on your album, you
- 23:07Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 23:07Speaker 2: But me, he can't do that on me.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't do that on everybody.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Everybody, because everybody's like, hey man, Dre, I love you.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Bro Versus was incredible, but you gotta gotta change that one, right,
- 23:17Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 23:18Speaker 2: So that's how I would have took it.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, what was that something where you had to like
- 23:24Speaker 1: tell ya, like, yo, hey, I didn't I didn't know that.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I definitely did.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know he was I know he I
- 23:31Speaker 3: didn't even know he dissed him until I like, like
- 23:36Speaker 3: I actually knew where Drake stayed in the neighborhood because
- 23:38Speaker 3: I hadn't like been in his house and stuff like that.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Well I had, but I didn't know that they stayed
- 23:43Speaker 3: in the same neighborhood. I was like a you know,
- 23:46Speaker 3: lower on the Total Bowl, those type of questions. But
- 23:50Speaker 3: after I figured it out, was like, dang, why you
- 23:52Speaker 3: let him do us like that?
- 23:54Speaker 4: You being still super close with Push, being super close
- 23:58Speaker 4: with Ya still, do you feel like there's ever a
- 24:00Speaker 4: chance to like ever get those two guys together again?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Man?
- 24:10Speaker 2: I can't. I mean, I don't know.
- 24:12Speaker 3: I mean, they both successful, great human beings. I just
- 24:16Speaker 3: think they just think differently, and I like, I'm a
- 24:21Speaker 3: little bit of hybrid. So I was a good kid
- 24:26Speaker 3: growing up. I was a terrible kid, mean me, but
- 24:30Speaker 3: I wasn't a street dude until I got into like
- 24:32Speaker 3: the tenth grade, like seventeen eighteen.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Then I start getting into the streets.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Then I understood street politics and how they think. So
- 24:42Speaker 3: I understand what push you're saying, and I understand what
- 24:44Speaker 3: you're saying, so I can't even like, I mean, it's
- 24:49Speaker 3: nothing that I can put together because I'm not.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Like, I don't have that much cachet.
- 24:53Speaker 3: That's fair really like bring them two together. But hopefully, man,
- 24:58Speaker 3: one day in the future we get to like relive
- 25:02Speaker 3: those moments, like I miss Tya and Jay together, Like
- 25:07Speaker 3: I just missed those moments.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Like nah, for sure, we all do shit.
- 25:11Speaker 2: That's heartbreaking, bro.
- 25:12Speaker 1: I probably my favorite tour I've ever been to was
- 25:14Speaker 1: a heartbreaking Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know. I think he's his tour
- 25:19Speaker 4: is probably my favorite tour. But jay Z and Yay
- 25:22Speaker 4: together was crazy. The Wash the Throne tour was insane.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Do you know?
- 25:27Speaker 4: I wonder because you know, right now it feels like,
- 25:31Speaker 4: how do you feel about the Kendrick Drake shit that transpired?
- 25:35Speaker 4: It feels like it has brought back a certain attention
- 25:39Speaker 4: and appetite for rapping and people breaking down lyrics, and
- 25:47Speaker 4: you know, it's kind of like, you know, I got
- 25:50Speaker 4: to give it to Kendrick because when you got a
- 25:51Speaker 4: six and a half minute record like Euphoria come out,
- 25:54Speaker 4: you got the whole world breaking it down online, and
- 25:56Speaker 4: there's so many lines.
- 25:57Speaker 1: In there to you know, dissect, you know.
- 26:00Speaker 4: And and I see the excitement for this CLIPS album
- 26:03Speaker 4: and their rollout has been incredible and j I D
- 26:07Speaker 4: Just just did something dope. It feels like that this
- 26:10Speaker 4: is like a perfect time for this album.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Man, it's so crazy, Like I'm cool with all those
- 26:18Speaker 3: guys like me and j I D.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Is from the same part of town.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Man, he's fucking incredible.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Uh, Drake and Kendrick just they actually made made it
- 26:29Speaker 3: so if you can't wrap, you got to sit on
- 26:31Speaker 3: the sideline. Yeah, And I think that's what rap's been missing.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I think, I mean, their situation is a little tricky.
- 26:39Speaker 3: I really think people were taking it too serious, like
- 26:45Speaker 3: it's just a rap battle, man, And that's the way
- 26:48Speaker 3: I would want those type of rap battles to happen,
- 26:50Speaker 3: because you know, truly in America, when you rap about somebody,
- 26:57Speaker 3: it's it's somebody's dropping.
- 26:59Speaker 2: It's some adualties of that. Yeah.
- 27:01Speaker 3: So the fact that, I mean, I know they probably
- 27:03Speaker 3: had little situations going on around it, but I think
- 27:09Speaker 3: that was good for hip hop. I think Drake is
- 27:13Speaker 3: an amazing artist. I think Kendrick is an amazing artist,
- 27:17Speaker 3: but I think Kendrick is a little more from that claw.
- 27:21Speaker 2: That claw. Yeah, and you know what's curry. I would
- 27:24Speaker 2: tell people this Drake gave it a little more than
- 27:28Speaker 2: it he should have gave it.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I think he paid too much attention to it.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I mean, I was just it ain't that serious kind
- 27:36Speaker 2: of Yeah.
- 27:37Speaker 4: It's almost like it started off with like a line
- 27:41Speaker 4: and the line.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Was like, motherfuck.
- 27:43Speaker 4: The Big three issues speak to me like I get it,
- 27:45Speaker 4: but it's like you really didn't have to sign up
- 27:48Speaker 4: for this brou.
- 27:50Speaker 3: But it ain't even I'm just I'm just saying it
- 27:52Speaker 3: in a fun like like this is what I thought. Like,
- 27:55Speaker 3: you know, during the pandemic, Drake had the caffeine battle lead.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, you hear them, dudes.
- 28:02Speaker 2: They they said some egregious.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Ship for insane shit for sure.
- 28:06Speaker 3: And they after the battle they smoke a blood, you know,
- 28:09Speaker 3: they dapping up like it ain't no violence or no
- 28:13Speaker 3: kind of real animosity towards that, and they talking. I
- 28:17Speaker 3: see some of the pre battles when they like doing
- 28:20Speaker 3: the like face off, they talking to each other.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Crazy, and then afterwards it's like a good game man.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Yeah, So it's like, if you love that culture and
- 28:29Speaker 3: understand that, you know that you really ain't a fat
- 28:33Speaker 3: of five.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Were just saying your teetering the line that you're too
- 28:37Speaker 2: low to mold up.
- 28:39Speaker 4: That's why I think that Euphoria was such a perfect record,
- 28:42Speaker 4: because it was it almost foresaw everything and it was
- 28:46Speaker 4: the biggest warning ever.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Hey, you could take it down if you want, but
- 28:52Speaker 3: just know, because I think we missed out on the
- 28:54Speaker 3: lot of like, what's.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Drake new record?
- 28:57Speaker 1: What did I miss?
- 28:58Speaker 2: People would have put that out You're in the rap bottle.
- 29:02Speaker 3: And said so personally, he should have been like, man,
- 29:06Speaker 3: you know, he's a great artist, one of the greatest
- 29:08Speaker 3: artists in hip hop for right from America. You know,
- 29:13Speaker 3: salute to him. I'm coming back with my new ship.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Wait on this, What did I miss?
- 29:18Speaker 2: You would have got that?
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I just don't know if it ever be
- 29:21Speaker 1: the same man.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought that would have been dope just to
- 29:24Speaker 3: get it in that time period.
- 29:26Speaker 4: I just know when that Meet the Grahams came out
- 29:28Speaker 4: right after Drake put out that other ship, like thirty
- 29:30Speaker 4: minutes later, you get that Meet the Grahams over that
- 29:32Speaker 4: Alchemist spectally just like.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Oh, it was like a horror movie, right it was.
- 29:37Speaker 1: It was man.
- 29:38Speaker 4: And then you know the other thing too, is like
- 29:40Speaker 4: Kao followed up with like a commercially viable album. But
- 29:45Speaker 4: he's got the you know that the critic Darling albums.
- 29:51Speaker 2: You know, you know why he did that. You know
- 29:52Speaker 2: how he could have did that.
- 29:53Speaker 3: And this is what I tell he never pandered his
- 29:56Speaker 3: whole career. Never he could have did that West Coast album.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Anytime a Butterfly gave you, he's damn he gave you
- 30:05Speaker 3: everything else.
- 30:05Speaker 2: So by the time he needed that Ace car, I
- 30:08Speaker 2: could do this too. It didn't even sound.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Like and not like us set the set the table
- 30:14Speaker 4: for him to Oh, no, y'all like that, I got something.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I got a whole project after.
- 30:17Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 30:18Speaker 3: So he to me, that's he's just in you know,
- 30:21Speaker 3: he integrity man like he takes he's an integrity goud know.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Kendrick like, oh, he's staying like you said.
- 30:30Speaker 4: I think that's why him and Pusher, So they're very
- 30:33Speaker 4: aligned in that because you you just I mean, I
- 30:35Speaker 4: know a lot about Kadok, like some stuff behind the
- 30:37Speaker 4: scenes where it's like he watches how.
- 30:39Speaker 1: People move and if people move or do certain things.
- 30:43Speaker 4: It's I just automatically know, like he's okay, well this
- 30:46Speaker 4: is how you move.
- 30:48Speaker 1: You're over there now.
- 30:48Speaker 3: For when I ran into him, the first thing, he
- 30:51Speaker 3: was like, Man, I'm glad you okay, Bro, I heard
- 30:53Speaker 3: about your situation. And this was like two years after
- 30:56Speaker 3: my situation happened. I'm like, damn, bro, I appreciate that.
- 31:00Speaker 3: You know he was on the Freshman cover together.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Damn that's crazy.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah, And we was like that was my best Like.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Was Meek mill on that too? It was Meek You.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Meet me, Kendrick, little B, Big Crid, little B. Why
- 31:15Speaker 2: G was on there? Why G was on there? Fred
- 31:18Speaker 2: to God's Son?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Yeah, yellow Wolf, yell God.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Damn the Yellow Wolf. A few a few, a few
- 31:24Speaker 2: weeks ago.
- 31:25Speaker 1: You did well. I see what wolfs doing doing? Good man.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I love wolf Man.
- 31:30Speaker 3: But at that at that at that whole week we
- 31:32Speaker 3: was together, Kendrick was like the one I kind of
- 31:35Speaker 3: vibe with, Like me and him was kind of like,
- 31:37Speaker 3: and you got your jedis Man, so I respect him.
- 31:41Speaker 4: That's crazy. What a legendary Freshman cover? You like, look back,
- 31:45Speaker 4: It's funny too, because I really remember vividly like people
- 31:48Speaker 4: not liking YG being on that cover because at that time,
- 31:51Speaker 4: I don't think the industry really up from a big
- 31:54Speaker 4: perspec But it's like why G's had a fucking career and.
- 31:58Speaker 3: He like he's a etiche is super dope. Like I
- 32:02Speaker 3: don't know if they knew he was gonna be there.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I didn't know he was gonna be there because I
- 32:05Speaker 3: think he.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Was gonna be that.
- 32:07Speaker 1: You know, you didn't boot it going up, and he
- 32:09Speaker 1: had mixtapes like La Shit going.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But I feel like, but I think La. I knew
- 32:14Speaker 2: he had that potential because he's from La, and.
- 32:17Speaker 1: My Crazy Life came out and just I feel like
- 32:20Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this is La.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Know how to keep the artists rounded, right, Like you
- 32:25Speaker 3: ain't got no choice. Then you got to come home.
- 32:27Speaker 3: You got to deal with these politics, right, So it's
- 32:30Speaker 3: like come on home, brother, like so you mind will stay,
- 32:35Speaker 3: you know, in tune. And I think he just sharpening
- 32:37Speaker 3: his image up, put out some great songs, put some
- 32:40Speaker 3: great bodies of work, and you know, you got artists
- 32:42Speaker 3: like you know, y'all got a great musical.
- 32:46Speaker 2: It's a great musical city in LA.
- 32:47Speaker 1: With it is doctor Dre right now. It's feeling good too, man.
- 32:52Speaker 4: And like right now, it feels like a lot of
- 32:55Speaker 4: the industry is it's either Atlanta or LA in terms
- 32:59Speaker 4: of the artist, the studios, you know. I mean, obviously
- 33:02Speaker 4: New York is still always gonna be New York, but
- 33:03Speaker 4: it feels like everybody kind of is ending up in
- 33:05Speaker 4: LA or Atlanta.
- 33:07Speaker 2: See even in Atlanta. Like that's the thing, Like.
- 33:12Speaker 3: It's harder in Atlanta because they don't really respect the
- 33:16Speaker 3: music side of That's what I've been pushing. That's why
- 33:19Speaker 3: my plight has been a little tougher because I've always
- 33:23Speaker 3: pushed music and my city is just so street. It's like,
- 33:28Speaker 3: who do have smacked some who got the bags? Who
- 33:31Speaker 3: laid some shit down? And it's like I feel like
- 33:34Speaker 3: that kind of put us, you know, the louchi thug stuff.
- 33:38Speaker 3: It kind of like made us have to take a
- 33:40Speaker 3: step back and evaluate. That's why you haven't heard a
- 33:43Speaker 3: lot of music come out Atlanta. And I think, now,
- 33:46Speaker 3: who's about.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Like belly Gang, Cushy Tins.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's my guy.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:52Speaker 2: See belly Gang is like what the new Atlanta about
- 33:54Speaker 2: to sound.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I'm just glad because he's back, like I feel like
- 33:57Speaker 4: I told him this. I'm like, man, it's good to
- 33:59Speaker 4: hear a new artist rapping about getting it and not
- 34:03Speaker 4: rapping about killing their ops, right, because that's kind of
- 34:07Speaker 4: like it's like, all right, dude, the op killing shit's
- 34:09Speaker 4: got a chill, Like we get it, Like, let's get
- 34:11Speaker 4: back to these bars of this money like one of
- 34:14Speaker 4: the two, you know what I'm saying. But now I
- 34:15Speaker 4: feel like, obviously Jaed D's I feel like jaded. He's
- 34:18Speaker 4: gonna take a big leap man.
- 34:19Speaker 3: And when you think about Belly Gang two, Belly Gang
- 34:23Speaker 3: got bars, Belly Gang finisg he ain't just swagging and
- 34:28Speaker 3: trap money with you. He really saying some shit.
- 34:30Speaker 1: And he's super.
- 34:32Speaker 4: The thing about him too that I love is he's
- 34:33Speaker 4: vulnerable on his record, you know, very open with his ship.
- 34:37Speaker 4: He's not afraid to be vulnerable. He's not afraid to
- 34:39Speaker 4: talk about his mom and you know shit that he's
- 34:41Speaker 4: going through in life. So I think that's one of
- 34:43Speaker 4: the most important things as an artist you can have.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Hey, you gotta stop the interview. You want to give
- 34:47Speaker 1: a shout out.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Man.
- 34:47Speaker 1: The only thing we smoke, ladies and gentlemen is slap Woods.
- 34:51Speaker 1: That's right.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Make sure you follow them at slap Woods. And you
- 34:54Speaker 4: know the reason why we smoked Flapwoods, it's literally because
- 34:58Speaker 4: they slap You ain't smoking slabbers. What the fuck are
- 35:01Speaker 4: you doing? Get back to you for.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You on this project? What is like is there? Do
- 35:09Speaker 1: you feel like you got a chip on your shoulder?
- 35:10Speaker 4: You're trying to prove something with this album because when
- 35:13Speaker 4: you think of mister E got right, When I think
- 35:14Speaker 4: of of all those awards, it's not.
- 35:16Speaker 1: That many people who are ego. I think Jennifer Hudson's
- 35:18Speaker 1: that he.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Got, yeah, Jif Legendohn Legend. Oh, it's a few actors
- 35:24Speaker 2: that have it as well.
- 35:25Speaker 1: That's a big thing to manifest, the big thing to
- 35:27Speaker 1: put out there.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Right Well, I think before I was kicked out of school,
- 35:32Speaker 3: I was doing theater. I was going to Soapstone that's
- 35:37Speaker 3: what it's called in Atlanta. But you know, I was
- 35:39Speaker 3: doing theater, plays, different things like that, played in the band,
- 35:44Speaker 3: I did a little bit everything, just being a creative, yeah, creator,
- 35:48Speaker 3: and then the streets just took over.
- 35:50Speaker 2: So it was just like fuck.
- 35:51Speaker 3: But I think the way I wanted to do this
- 35:54Speaker 3: album is I just wanted to kind of give my
- 35:56Speaker 3: life story in different perspectives. So I broke my like
- 36:01Speaker 3: how royal flush is you know, Presser Spade, Press of
- 36:04Speaker 3: Diamonds for I did Emmys feel like a television show,
- 36:09Speaker 3: Grammy sound, Grand Oscar sounds suspenseful, movie score, and Tony
- 36:15Speaker 3: is like live drums, spoken word, you know what I mean.
- 36:19Speaker 3: So that's kind of like the conglomerate of music that
- 36:22Speaker 3: I put together for this album.
- 36:24Speaker 2: And yes it is.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I do got to point to prove because I'm showing
- 36:28Speaker 3: niggas like you can't fuck with me on this mic.
- 36:32Speaker 2: That's what I'm really showing it.
- 36:33Speaker 3: But also in depth, I'm showing you first person, third person.
- 36:38Speaker 3: It's suspenseful, it's giving you different perspectives. I got different
- 36:42Speaker 3: characters on it.
- 36:43Speaker 2: It's like a.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Full fledged like collage of just art and music with
- 36:49Speaker 3: a street foundation to it. I don't think nobody has
- 36:53Speaker 3: ever heard anything like this, Like this is gonna be groundbreaking,
- 36:57Speaker 3: Like my goal is to win the Emmy Ran Me, Oscar,
- 37:00Speaker 3: Tony on one album. That's big, So let's go, let's go,
- 37:05Speaker 3: let's get it.
- 37:06Speaker 4: It's too because you know I would I say that
- 37:09Speaker 4: like you you you were talking earlier about like Yay
- 37:12Speaker 4: writing his ship down for that album, and I feel
- 37:15Speaker 4: like we've gotten so into this like punching culture and
- 37:19Speaker 4: hip hop where like people aren't taking their time of
- 37:22Speaker 4: making songs as much. Everything's microwavable, and it's like you
- 37:25Speaker 4: can't make time a music unless you take.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Time doing it, you know what I'm saying, right, Like.
- 37:29Speaker 4: You got to be intentional with every line, every bar,
- 37:32Speaker 4: and it's like that's just out the window these days.
- 37:34Speaker 2: And that's my thing.
- 37:35Speaker 3: My thing is conceptually driven. Like I don't be like
- 37:40Speaker 3: like a lot of people be trying to compare like
- 37:42Speaker 3: artists rappers to me because they lyrical. Like I'm not lyrical.
- 37:47Speaker 3: It's disrespectful to call me lyrical. Like I'm lyrical, But
- 37:50Speaker 3: these are things that I experienced. This ain't no shit
- 37:53Speaker 3: I read in the fucking text book, right, And a
- 37:55Speaker 3: lot of yeah, a lot of these new lyrics is
- 37:59Speaker 3: are like just smart kids who dropped out of college, right,
- 38:02Speaker 3: You know what I mean that I'm not a drop
- 38:03Speaker 3: out of college.
- 38:04Speaker 2: I dropped out in tenth grade. You know what I'm saying.
- 38:07Speaker 3: This shit is experiences that I just that was just
- 38:11Speaker 3: you know, embedded in my brain and I just regurgitate
- 38:14Speaker 3: them into music and put it on the mic and
- 38:17Speaker 3: it just comes out like that.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Do you feel like you know you said like this
- 38:22Speaker 4: is this is your life? And we talked a little
- 38:24Speaker 4: bit earlier about kind of the Atlanta scene and how
- 38:26Speaker 4: crazy it is kind of like you feel when you
- 38:29Speaker 4: were coming up and doing what you were doing in
- 38:32Speaker 4: the streets, Like I kind of feel like kind of
- 38:34Speaker 4: talk about concepts of the concept of the last album
- 38:36Speaker 4: was very much like there.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Was at least some sort of like.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Unwritten rules to follow, some sort of standards you wouldn't
- 38:44Speaker 4: cross in the streets.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Do you feel like this new generation, all that shit's
- 38:48Speaker 1: out the window.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean a lot of that is out the window.
- 38:52Speaker 3: And it's it's because everybody want to be famous, everybody
- 38:57Speaker 3: want to make money, and they just go to the
- 39:00Speaker 3: furthest extent to do it. Like I'm gonna walk it down,
- 39:05Speaker 3: So I'm not gonna rush my situation no matter what
- 39:11Speaker 3: it is, like, i just gotta walk it down slowly,
- 39:14Speaker 3: but surely I gotta hit them all. So I think
- 39:17Speaker 3: a lot of times guys want to skip those steps
- 39:20Speaker 3: so expedite they they fame or you know that feelings.
- 39:25Speaker 3: So what they do, they they passed the integrity line.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Ain't gonna do some shit, that's just sure, and deal
- 39:31Speaker 3: with the consequences later, you know what I mean.
- 39:33Speaker 2: But when you're from the street like.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Them, consequences came back asap, so you gotta be very careful.
- 39:41Speaker 3: And I think that's the thing where it's like the
- 39:45Speaker 3: fine line between hip hop is like we have let
- 39:49Speaker 3: you know, the ambitious kids in that you know, after
- 39:53Speaker 3: Yay dropped out of college, like a lot of these
- 39:56Speaker 3: kids are like not from that that that grass understanding
- 40:01Speaker 3: like the repercussions of disrespecting somebody or you got the
- 40:07Speaker 3: streamers that just came.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Oh man, the disrespect.
- 40:13Speaker 2: This is weird. I'm on line.
- 40:15Speaker 3: All I'm seeing is people blowing up firecrackers in people houses.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Oh I just saw that this morning.
- 40:21Speaker 2: I'm like, why is this viral?
- 40:23Speaker 1: Like I just saw that this morning.
- 40:25Speaker 4: There was like a Duke Dennis was like running around
- 40:27Speaker 4: this house and fucking up everyone's shipping then blowing it up.
- 40:29Speaker 2: I'm like, what is going on?
- 40:31Speaker 3: It's like this is really it feels like a felony,
- 40:34Speaker 3: Like what do we do?
- 40:36Speaker 1: But it's like it's gotta be a rental.
- 40:38Speaker 2: But it's like jackass, Like it's some jackass for sure.
- 40:41Speaker 3: That was like the only show when we came up
- 40:44Speaker 3: that black ass. Yeah, it's like everybody.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Everybody's on jackass in real life trying to just do crazy.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Shit for clicks for sure.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's wild times. Man.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Can you give us any sort of insight on any
- 40:56Speaker 4: of the features on the album?
- 40:58Speaker 3: Oh? Man, you know, man, I got some good ones. Well,
- 41:02Speaker 3: you know, the family's on there to chain. I got
- 41:05Speaker 3: tied Yay, Russ Russ, Pink Sweats.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Green, It's Atlanta greats.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Hey, Russ Russ is one of them guys who when
- 41:17Speaker 4: he wants to step outside. He had them them them
- 41:21Speaker 4: munch projects where he was fucking barring out right.
- 41:25Speaker 3: I got some guys that was on the album every Kneag,
- 41:29Speaker 3: So we need to get them back on it, you
- 41:31Speaker 3: know what I mean. Like my boy Jack Harlowe, me
- 41:33Speaker 3: and him got a we had a record, but you know,
- 41:36Speaker 3: I got to see if I can get him on
- 41:37Speaker 3: the you know label situations.
- 41:40Speaker 4: So he was on the record and then he they
- 41:44Speaker 4: didn't clear it.
- 41:46Speaker 3: I wouldn't say they It's just like you know most artists, man,
- 41:50Speaker 3: when they do a song or do a verse, they
- 41:52Speaker 3: wanted to come out tomorrow, And I'm not that type
- 41:55Speaker 3: of artist, Like I want this thing to come out
- 41:58Speaker 3: when it's supposed to come out and how it's supposed
- 42:01Speaker 3: to come out and have the impact it needs to have.
- 42:04Speaker 3: And you know, people just like throw music out, they
- 42:07Speaker 3: don't have no intentions for it. And that's what man,
- 42:12Speaker 3: the circle back around, that's what makes the greats great.
- 42:15Speaker 3: It's intentional. Yes, Kendrick is intentional. He ain't throwing no
- 42:19Speaker 3: shit out hey and seeing.
- 42:21Speaker 2: If it's stick.
- 42:22Speaker 4: Nope, he got a because like you said, it's like
- 42:26Speaker 4: when you're making music as an artist, you have to
- 42:28Speaker 4: be to I feel like to be in those conversations.
- 42:32Speaker 4: You have to be self aware of like legacy of
- 42:35Speaker 4: like where does this fit in the culture, where like
- 42:38Speaker 4: how is this going to hit people? How is this gonna?
- 42:40Speaker 4: Is this gonna last ten years from now, twenty years
- 42:42Speaker 4: from sure?
- 42:44Speaker 3: That's why I Pusher can just still put the clips,
- 42:46Speaker 3: can still come out and have that gravitaze because they
- 42:49Speaker 3: intentional with and people know they're going there for that.
- 42:52Speaker 1: And that rollouts.
- 42:53Speaker 2: You's been crazy?
- 42:55Speaker 1: What what you know?
- 42:56Speaker 4: Because Russ put out Chomp and I think you were
- 42:59Speaker 4: you were on Chomp too.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yeah with who Banks? What was up because Russ, a.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Lot of people don't know, came up in Atlanta. What
- 43:08Speaker 4: was the genesis of Was he just reaching out? Like
- 43:10Speaker 4: because I know for those albums he wanted to just
- 43:12Speaker 4: get everybody, and just because he's he's the kind of
- 43:15Speaker 4: guy whos always got a chip on the shoulder, so
- 43:16Speaker 4: he's like, I want to show everybody I can rap
- 43:18Speaker 4: with everybody.
- 43:19Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Now, he's a hip hop hit. He's a he's a
- 43:22Speaker 2: he's actually.
- 43:25Speaker 3: He's actually a pioneer of a lot of the way
- 43:28Speaker 3: these kids put out music, but they don't know they
- 43:31Speaker 3: don't have the love for it that Russ has.
- 43:33Speaker 2: No, he's it, He's it, you know what I mean.
- 43:35Speaker 1: He's got the passion for real, and he has.
- 43:37Speaker 3: The respect for it like a lot of times people
- 43:40Speaker 3: like come into hip hop and really don't have the respect.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Just because you can.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Do it don't mean I don't mean you should do
- 43:45Speaker 1: it exactly right.
- 43:46Speaker 3: So I think that's what makes him great is because
- 43:49Speaker 3: he still has the respect for it as well.
- 43:52Speaker 4: No, I agree, man, Now I think he's he's super underrated.
- 43:54Speaker 4: So album is still not quite finished.
- 43:57Speaker 1: But it is coming. It is finished. I know you
- 44:00Speaker 1: say you had a couple of tweaks.
- 44:03Speaker 2: That's that's like.
- 44:04Speaker 1: But not like mixing, mastering. Okay, okay, that's like. So
- 44:08Speaker 1: the album is finished. You just got to get the
- 44:10Speaker 1: paperwork on some of the ship put together exactly.
- 44:12Speaker 2: So that's the last things we're doing.
- 44:14Speaker 3: And like I said, when you're working on some classic
- 44:18Speaker 3: it takes that a little bit. So just getting these
- 44:21Speaker 3: last bit of clearance is these artists agreements getting out
- 44:24Speaker 3: and hopefully they come back, but if they don't, the
- 44:28Speaker 3: shit will be out anyway and it'll be without them.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Hey, we gotta wrap up this interview, another one presented
- 44:34Speaker 4: by Hardan Baby, you already.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Know what it is.

- 45:14Speaker 4: your local dispensary. Broken Cannabis dot Com, salute to them.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Let's get back to the interview. Give me, give me
- 45:20Speaker 4: your I am curious. I don't want to. I don't
- 45:24Speaker 4: want you to tell me who you think is the
- 45:25Speaker 4: greatest of all time? Your personal favorite Mount Rushmore.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Of mcs, my top what is that? Four?
- 45:31Speaker 1: Four of them? Not again.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I feel like there's the one list where you're like, yes,
- 45:35Speaker 4: that's like jay Z, Yeah, greatest of all time, favor your.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Personal faith is the greatest of all time.
- 45:44Speaker 1: I'm just saying that, like I think that's the answer.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 45:47Speaker 1: But maybe like someone might not necessarily say Jay is
- 45:50Speaker 1: one of their favorite mcs, but they can acknowledge he's
- 45:53Speaker 1: the greatest.
- 45:53Speaker 2: He's the greatest he's my favorite.
- 45:55Speaker 1: So both things can be true.
- 45:57Speaker 3: So the whole is definitely Mount Rushmore. I would say
- 46:03Speaker 3: Eminem is definitely Mount Rushmore, like I'm a fan of
- 46:08Speaker 3: like early on Eminem two. I guess because I was
- 46:10Speaker 3: a cue when he came out.
- 46:15Speaker 2: I got like an underground Mount Rushmore.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Give me my A team is j M T I
- 46:25Speaker 3: And I would say, yay, those are my like four
- 46:29Speaker 3: but see, my undergrounds are like mystical, mystical big l.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I would say I was a d MX fan.
- 46:44Speaker 3: I love DMX coming up, and I would say.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Like my last would be like and my last is
- 46:53Speaker 2: so ill.
- 46:57Speaker 3: I would have to go, it's two of them though,
- 47:00Speaker 3: to outcasts. I would just love outcasts growing up.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I wouldn't even say, I mean a lot of your
- 47:06Speaker 1: undergrounds not underground.
- 47:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but they was like, I mean, that's just like
- 47:11Speaker 3: my eighteen d T because you know, mystical with underground either.
- 47:14Speaker 1: But he was he was unpredictable cool cool when I
- 47:20Speaker 1: was a kid, and I love no Limit like ghetto
- 47:22Speaker 1: Dope and all that ship master P. But mister cool
- 47:24Speaker 1: was that he just had that voice on uh.

- 49:01Speaker 1: Yeah, we were talking about that earlier.
- 49:03Speaker 4: I'm like, I think Hell has no Curious the better album,
- 49:06Speaker 4: but Lord Willing is my favorite. Like that album meant
- 49:10Speaker 4: way more to me. I mean, I feel like even
- 49:14Speaker 4: like I was just.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I was just listening to uh their last album from

- 49:25Speaker 3: I feel like they were just showing off their skill
- 49:28Speaker 3: set like Lord Willing.
- 49:30Speaker 2: The crazy thing is I had to think.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I was riding back with them joints in the truck
- 49:35Speaker 3: right to drop and my buddy.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I'm from Virginia.

- 50:37Speaker 2: with him?
- 50:38Speaker 4: My goodness, goodness man, yo, whatever, you know, it's funny
- 50:42Speaker 4: because I was you know, I'm real tight with the
- 50:45Speaker 4: homie lifted who did Mercy, and so I was able
- 50:48Speaker 4: to have I was privy to hearing some stuff that
- 50:52Speaker 4: was supposed to be on Cool Winter auh and I
- 50:58Speaker 4: know that that was a thing that was supposed to
- 51:00Speaker 4: happen whatever, Like you know what what like like how
- 51:03Speaker 4: many records did y'all do for that?
- 51:05Speaker 2: We did? We did a few.
- 51:07Speaker 3: We did about ten to twelve. But that's when, like,
- 51:11Speaker 3: to be honest, that's when like motherfuckers started taking off
- 51:16Speaker 3: was taken off.
- 51:17Speaker 2: That's when.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Pick guys out of the Yeah.
- 51:21Speaker 3: All, let me tell you some on Cruise Summer, all

- 51:34Speaker 1: hotel room.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Yes, Bro in La. He never heard the song or nothing.
- 51:37Speaker 3: They played the beat one time, maybe two times Max
- 51:42Speaker 3: on Eat Mercy, all of them. He just went in
- 51:45Speaker 3: there and just like eight bars, eight bars, that bitch
- 51:48Speaker 3: was done.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I said this nigga.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Is incredible crazy.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for what you say, I can't even I
- 51:56Speaker 3: can't even say no bullshit that fast.
- 51:59Speaker 4: I always say, Chain says the illest shit in the
- 52:04Speaker 4: slickest way. Yes, Bro, he'd be saying. Like his new
- 52:07Speaker 4: album with Larry June, the one the Alchemists produced, Oh
- 52:10Speaker 4: so good man, Yes bro to Chains, one of the ones.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Man, Alchemist. I love Alchemists too. Now. I don't know, man,
- 52:17Speaker 2: I don't fuck with me. I don't know what it is.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I got you and alcnld do a whole album.
- 52:21Speaker 2: Together, Man, what come on?
- 52:23Speaker 1: That'd be crazy?
- 52:24Speaker 4: No, but I do feel like the like I remember
- 52:26Speaker 4: hearing a song for Cool Winner that was similar to Mercy, but.
- 52:32Speaker 1: It was called trash Bags.
- 52:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and Push was talking about essentially it was like
- 52:39Speaker 4: bring the money out in trash bags because you're gonna
- 52:41Speaker 4: make it rain so much that the money had to
- 52:43Speaker 4: be put in trash bags.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Man.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I remember that record. That was a real record. Yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 3: that was a real record.
- 52:48Speaker 4: And I'm like, damn it, this shit came out right
- 52:50Speaker 4: after Mercy. I'm like, this is like the Mercy fucking
- 52:54Speaker 4: step Son.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying that that fucking era.
- 52:59Speaker 3: Everybody was picking at ya, like everybody was picking at
- 53:02Speaker 3: his team, like, oh.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Push, we need you here. The fucking big Shun.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Yeah, kigts is that dance record going crazy.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Nikki and he you know, he was collaboring with Drake
- 53:14Speaker 2: all of them. Now he out of here cut. He
- 53:17Speaker 2: always been out.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Of here cut, He's always been cutting. Yeah.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Then he did that Tiana album.
- 53:22Speaker 3: That Tiana he gave her all them damn beats man.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Them beats man hurt my soul for her to get
- 53:28Speaker 3: all over. I mean, she did a great job with him,
- 53:31Speaker 3: But I was just thinking, like, God, damn.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Bro, did they ever have you, like ever discussed maybe
- 53:36Speaker 4: you doing one of those seven song albums.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I was supposed to do one because.
- 53:40Speaker 4: There was that twenty eighteen era we Get Daytona, we
- 53:42Speaker 4: Get the NAS album, we Get Kitsy Ghosts.
- 53:44Speaker 1: We Get The Shot was my song first really yea
- 53:50Speaker 1: by the way, one of the two songs I really
- 53:52Speaker 1: love on that.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Project, Cop Shot that Kill was my song. Bro, I
- 53:56Speaker 3: had a bunch of songs.
- 53:57Speaker 2: That was my song. We was just talking about it,
- 54:00Speaker 2: like I had to do. I did this song called
- 54:03Speaker 2: flash on on the.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Block Freestyle that Camper gave a song the Doja Can't
- 54:10Speaker 3: That was gonna be my first single. I had the
- 54:13Speaker 3: no Live Beat with two Chains and Drake.
- 54:17Speaker 2: That was to be my single.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Wait wait, which which dochi song was being I forget
- 54:23Speaker 1: it's the first song.
- 54:24Speaker 3: I forget what album it was, but it was Doja
- 54:28Speaker 3: Dojah Can't. But it's just like a lot of time,
- 54:33Speaker 3: I always got into them situations.
- 54:35Speaker 4: It seems like Naza snatched two songs from you because
- 54:37Speaker 4: we talked about the no Idea one earlier.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Yo, how do you find out that that the cop
- 54:42Speaker 1: shot the kid? Because that song is fucking nuts.
- 54:44Speaker 2: They asked me to give it to him. Does he
- 54:47Speaker 2: really liked it? I would have been like you can't
- 54:49Speaker 2: stay on it, but you know, I just be like,
- 54:54Speaker 2: I'm a team player, and it be like.
- 54:58Speaker 3: You get other beats from know, you get other beasts
- 55:01Speaker 3: from him, and I got a few on this album
- 55:03Speaker 3: from them, so that to me is better than those.
- 55:06Speaker 1: But so you do have some a production on the album, Yeah,
- 55:09Speaker 1: for sure.
- 55:10Speaker 2: I got about four or five of them.
- 55:12Speaker 1: That's big.
- 55:12Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm using all of my production because like
- 55:16Speaker 3: it's so nostalgic, you don't get you don't get to
- 55:18Speaker 3: hear it.
- 55:19Speaker 2: And I got the ones.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, we don't get to hear the Kanye production.
- 55:25Speaker 4: I think that like we like love anymore. And not
- 55:30Speaker 4: to say that he's not making that stuff, because I
- 55:31Speaker 4: really enjoyed, uh the First Vultures a lot, and some
- 55:36Speaker 4: of the Vulture stuff that didn't end up coming out
- 55:37Speaker 4: was incredible. But I love the First Voltures, but it
- 55:40Speaker 4: was different. It was very much like it was a
- 55:42Speaker 4: different it was different, like I'm.
- 55:43Speaker 2: Talking about when he actually he's touching hard.
- 55:46Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, the NPC or the ASR ten. It's like
- 55:49Speaker 4: it's different like those days. I feel like I don't know,
- 55:52Speaker 4: I mean, ship he can tell.
- 55:53Speaker 3: You man, take that snare out now he's telling somebody.
