Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Off to the United States. We go, and it's a
- 0:01Speaker 1: good morning to Mitch McCann.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Hell I much, Good morning, Andrew.
- 0:05Speaker 1: How are you very well? President Zelensky calls out President
- 0:08Speaker 1: Trump on truth and disinformation.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. Zelensky has been walking this awkward tightrope,
- 0:15Speaker 2: I think in recent weeks, wanting to defend Ukraine's sovereignty
- 0:18Speaker 2: ahead of these negotiations that might happen, but not wanting
- 0:21Speaker 2: to criticize Donald Trump openly for some of the comments
- 0:24Speaker 2: he's made that seem rather favorable to Russia.
- 0:28Speaker 1: But it seems his patience may have run out.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Now here's the context. Last night, at a press conference,
- 0:33Speaker 2: Donald Trump appeared to be almost blaming Ukraine for the war.
- 0:37Speaker 2: He told reporters, referring to Ukrainian leaders, you should have
- 0:40Speaker 2: never started it. You could have made a deal. At
- 0:43Speaker 2: the same time, he was not at all critical of Russia,
- 0:45Speaker 2: the country nearly the entire international community agrees did actually
- 0:49Speaker 2: start it. Now in the last few hours, Zelensky has
- 0:52Speaker 2: shot back reasonably defiant. He said, unfortunately he's living in
- 0:57Speaker 2: this disinformation space speaking about Donald Trump, and he added,
- 1:01Speaker 2: I want there to be some I want there to
- 1:03Speaker 2: be more truths in Trump's team. He also said the
- 1:05Speaker 2: White House suggested that he signed this agreement to give
- 1:08Speaker 2: America half of its rich mineral resources in exchange for defense,
- 1:13Speaker 2: which he refused. So this is coming at a delicate
- 1:16Speaker 2: time where the US is looking to negotiate with Russia
- 1:19Speaker 2: without Ukraine at the table. And you can see now
- 1:21Speaker 2: Ukraine's getting a little bit impatient with what's going on here.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Meanwhile, you're in New York and you're freezing.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I am, I'm sick of complaining about the weather,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but this is really so cold. It's about minus five
- 1:34Speaker 2: degrees celsius at lunchtime as I speak to you. But
- 1:37Speaker 2: it's far from over, and there's a series of winter
- 1:39Speaker 2: storms about to hit the US. Virginia, North Carolina, and
- 1:43Speaker 2: Delaware are set to receive between fifteen to thirty centimeters
- 1:46Speaker 2: of snow in the coming days. North Carolina and Arkansas
- 1:50Speaker 2: have already declared states of emergency. And just finally, Andrew,
- 1:53Speaker 2: I'll leave you with this. The National Weather Service has
- 1:56Speaker 2: seen temperatures in the city of Bismarck, North Dakota, reached
- 1:59Speaker 2: nigga of thirty seven degrees celsius this week, breaking a
- 2:03Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty year record. It's cold.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Are you a fahrenheit boy yet or are you still
- 2:08Speaker 1: keeping with the Celsius No, I'm on.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Google every five minutes trying to work it out.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Stay warm, and I thank you for your time today.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Thanks Andrew all the best.
