- 0:08Sean McAllister: Las Vegas himself.
- 0:10Sean McAllister: And it was such great fun being a part of.
- 0:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 0:12Sean McAllister: We'll hear more from Wayne Newton coming up.
- 0:15Dayna Roselli: And Caesars Entertainment announces another hotel casino opening just in time for the World Series of Poker.
- 0:22Sean McAllister: This episode of Vegas Revealed is brought to you by Steep Echo Tea.
- 0:28Dayna Roselli: All natural olive leaf tea from the Orchards of Santa Barbara.
- 0:45Sean McAllister: It's episode 43.
- 0:47Sean McAllister: Thanks for being here on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:49Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister, along with Dana Roselli.
- 0:52Sean McAllister: And man, what a week it's been, Dana.
- 0:53Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 0:54Dayna Roselli: We're still counting ballots here in Nevada.
- 0:56Dayna Roselli: That's what's going on here.
- 0:58Sean McAllister: We were talking about that last week and still going on.
- 1:00Dayna Roselli: It's so true.
- 1:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we're finally have some cold weather here that's consistent.
- 1:04Dayna Roselli: So it's feeling like the holidays.
- 1:06Dayna Roselli: We're we've got channels that, like you said, that are playing holiday music.
- 1:10Dayna Roselli: People are setting up decorations, but right now we're getting ready for Thanksgiving, and it's it's a little bit of a tough time here right now because things are still open.
- 1:17Dayna Roselli: But our governor did announce he would prefer if everyone stayed home as much as they could for this 14-day period so that we don't have to have a shutdown in the future.
- 1:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, so this is kind of a a a shelter-in-place request from the Nevada governor.
- 1:35Sean McAllister: Um however, this is largely for locals.
- 1:39Sean McAllister: Uh the governor is still inviting uh out-of-town people to come here and vacation in Las Vegas.
- 1:46Sean McAllister: Um and, you know, the casinos, as we've talked about in in previous episodes, are uh taking great measures to make sure that that the casinos are clean and the people are safe.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: But um uh largely it's uh a shelter in place request for Las Vegas locals to stay home, cut down um the COVID-19 numbers so that, yeah, as you mentioned, Dano, that we don't have to go into another lockdown because that killed us.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: I mean it's a tough one because you know people are going at the governor about you know why, and it's our freedom.
- 2:19Dayna Roselli: It both sides it it's it's a tough place to be in because you want to save the jobs, right?
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: You want to keep things open, we want to keep people working, we don't want to close the businesses.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: But we're also seeing, you know, higher numbers and and we're seeing some hospitalizations go up.
- 2:33Dayna Roselli: And he said, you know, doctors are coming to me and saying we're getting at full capacity here, we need to do something.
- 2:38Dayna Roselli: So he's trying to keep the jobs going, but asking the locals to, you know, limit the family gatherings and all that.
- 2:45Dayna Roselli: Uh, if you can order groceries, you know, to your door and and not have to go out and do little things like that.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: Of course, mask up, you know, wash your hands, all that kind of thing.
- 2:53Sean McAllister: But the good news is that before all that, we were out and about.
- 2:57Sean McAllister: We were out and about quite a bit, and we talked to Mr.
- 2:59Sean McAllister: Las Vegas, Wayne Newton, at the red carpet premiere of the new movie uh Stealing Chaplin.
- 3:06Sean McAllister: And we're gonna get into that in uh just a minute here.
- 3:09Sean McAllister: But uh, you know, we are entering the holiday season, Dana, and we're starting to see some of those deals pop up.
- 3:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we've been getting a lot of things to our inbox.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: So a couple things.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: If you're coming to Las Vegas around Thanksgiving, the Miracle Mile shops inside Planet Hollywood having all these uh Black Friday specials and you know, tons of deals out there at all the different stores, dry bar, you know, uh uh Pandora, all that kind of thing.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: But the one that that I saw is like if you're shopping and you have a long day, if you buy two regular size cookies, you get a free regular size fountain drink at Nestle Tollhouse Cafe.
- 3:43Sean McAllister: Oh, those cookies are so good, and you can smell them from like 10 stores down.
- 3:49Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: And then your favorite place at Park MGM is having a bunch of different events.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: That's Italy.
- 3:55Sean McAllister: Yeah, Italy is so good.
- 3:56Sean McAllister: They have such amazing, genuine Italian food.
- 4:01Sean McAllister: It's not like not to knock Olive Garden or anything, but it's not like Olive Garden Italian.
- 4:07Dayna Roselli: No, we love the breadsticks at Olive Garden.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: This traditional Italian, like straight from Italy recipes, and they're having a white truffle festival through November 22nd.
- 4:18Sean McAllister: So they have a whole bunch of dishes that uh incorporate white truffles and there's wine pairings.
- 4:25Sean McAllister: So you can go to italie.com to see all about that.
- 4:29Sean McAllister: Um, but but they also have uh some online deals for hand-selected gift baskets that have a whole bunch of uh Eatalie products in them.
- 4:41Sean McAllister: Because anything that you uh are served at Italy, they have all the ingredients for sale in their uh little grocery store, their shop inside, which is amazing because you can tr attempt to go home and make what you just had in your incredible meal.
- 4:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, no, that's it's so true because I always noticed, you know, certain brands and things like that around my house growing up.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Uh we have a big Italian family, and um I notice at Italy I see some of those brands there, like the good, good stuff that you don't just see at the grocery store, you know, on a daily basis.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: So it's a destination point.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: It is, and they uh bring in like the lemon cello, they bring in direct from Italy.
- 5:21Sean McAllister: So it's like the legit, like the really good, creamy lemon cello.
- 5:25Dayna Roselli: It's not like yours, because you made some lemon cello over the summer.
- 5:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, we did, but I think that when they're not storing it at Italy, no, when we put the lemon zest into the vodka to let it steep for a while, I think that there was a little too much of the like the white rind in there, so it got a little bitter.
- 5:42Sean McAllister: The Italy stuff is is much better.
- 5:44Sean McAllister: We actually just dumped out the last two bottles of lemon cello that we made.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: Well, you know, you win some, you lose some.
- 5:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was a quarantine project, you know.
- 5:52Sean McAllister: We had nothing but time.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: All right, well, listen, we've been talking about all the hotels opening on the strip, but there's one big, massive hotel casino just off the strip called the Rio.
- 6:02Dayna Roselli: And I think we mentioned last week that we had heard it was gonna open toward uh the end of December, and we got the official date this week.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: So Caesars Entertainment announced that it's opening the Rio Tuesday, December 22nd at 10 a.m., which is kind of an odd time, but you know, there'll probably be a whole bunch of pomp and circumstance and stuff like that.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: And and we all hope fingers crossed that Chippendales will be there.
- 6:24Dayna Roselli: Um but the you know, they're gonna accommodate weekend stays, Thursday through Monday, while the gaming floor will be open seven days a week.
- 6:32Sean McAllister: Well, and speaking of the entertainment, Dana, Chippendales were not mentioned as a part of this opening.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: However, Penn and Teller were they they perform in that uh big theater there over at the Rio.
- 6:45Sean McAllister: I think they've been performing there for 30 years.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: A long time, yeah.
- 6:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, decades, Penn and Teller.
- 6:51Sean McAllister: They're a fixture over at the Rio.
- 6:52Sean McAllister: So they will be back up on stage there, of course, with socially distanced audience members.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: And it says, you know, they haven't announced an exact date for that, for them to come back, but to keep your eyes on the Rio Las Vegas.com website and they'll they'll put that up.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: And yeah, I don't know.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: I heard a little bit of a buzz.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: I'm just gonna go ahead and say it about the Chippendales possibly moving into the Omnian nightclub.
- 7:16Sean McAllister: I heard the same thing.
- 7:17Sean McAllister: I heard that there were some scouting missions going on to see what it would look like to move the show over there.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: So that would be at Caesars Palace, so could be interesting.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: Um, seems like it would be a great venue for that.
- 7:28Sean McAllister: Well, listen, as long as nightclubs aren't allowed to operate, we could we just can't at this point.
- 7:35Sean McAllister: I mean, it makes sense to put those venues to good use.
- 7:38Sean McAllister: And Omnia is an incredible venue.
- 7:40Sean McAllister: There's certainly plenty of space to to spread out, and there's a a balcony level, so you could really get uh, you know, people in you could get a lot of people in there, but spread out enough that it's not gonna be an issue.
- 7:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean it there's definitely some great ideas going around.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: And you know, um last week I did a live stream, helped host a live stream for our entertainment community, ran into a bunch of people that we know and and have been in the community performing or behind the scenes of the stage or, you know, uh that were part of this live stream um that Hope Link put on because a lot of our entertainers haven't been able to work for like eight months.
- 8:16Dayna Roselli: And I ran into a bunch of people, and um, you know, a a couple of them happen to be Thunder from Down Under, which is, you know, I don't want to say similar to Chippendales because they would, you know, it's like a little bit competitive.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: You got the Chippendales and the Thunder from Down Under the uh the Australians.
- 8:31Dayna Roselli: But I ran into them, shirtless and masked, and they're back.
- 8:36Dayna Roselli: So it can be done, okay?
- 8:38Dayna Roselli: They're back at the Excalibur and they're performing, and it's you know, like I think we mentioned in the past, they're not jumping on your table and and right in your face, but but they're they're socially distanced down the catwalk, and I'm sure they do a fantastic job.
- 8:51Sean McAllister: Well, I'm glad that you uh had a run-in with Thunder to get all the uh uh the up close personal details about that.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was uh yeah, it was it was an intimate occasion.
- 9:02Dayna Roselli: Uh, but lots of great people there.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: Wayne Newton was performing, Zoe Bowie Piffed the Magic Jack Dragon, uh Matt Goss, they had the blues brothers there, uh, some local bands were there too.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: It was a great show and raised a lot of money for our local entertainment community.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: And and as you mentioned, our entertainers do need it.
- 9:19Sean McAllister: They've not been able to largely not been able to get on stage and perform.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: And they've had to, you know, in some cases, I know people have uh started giving instrument lessons or vocal lessons and done that remotely uh via you know, virtually online.
- 9:35Sean McAllister: Um and so, you know, uh imagine that your entire career I mean, if you're a banker, imagine the entire banking and industry just going away.
- 9:47Sean McAllister: Right.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: So that you can't go and find another banking job.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 9:50Sean McAllister: And that's like what you do, that's what you're good at.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: Well, I mean, who because who would have ever thought, like, okay, I play the drums, right?
- 9:58Dayna Roselli: I I'm I play gigs all around town, I'm in a main show, like, and I'm not gonna be able to play the drums because I'm not allowed to for eight months to a year.
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, or it's gonna be probably longer for some of these folks.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: So yeah, it's just something we never imagined.
- 10:12Sean McAllister: Yeah, and it's it's looking like I know a lot of people ask us when is all the entertainment gonna be back.
- 10:18Sean McAllister: And it at this point I've heard um that it could be April or May of 2021 before the next batch of shows really open.
- 10:31Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 10:31Dayna Roselli: We've we've had a bunch.
- 10:33Sean McAllister: Maybe longer, maybe next summer.
- 10:35Dayna Roselli: And then we don't know, you know, stay tuned to us and watch our social channels because we don't know what's gonna happen after this 14-day, you know, try to stay at home order, because it's been about so we've got like uh I think like 11 days left of that.
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: It started a few days ago from when we're recording that.
- 10:48Dayna Roselli: By the time this gets posted, we're probably more, you know, 10, 10 or nine days left.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: So yeah, we're gonna have to see how all that plays out.
- 10:56Sean McAllister: But fortunately, we have something exciting happening here in Las Vegas: a movie premiere for a new film called Stealing Chaplin.
- 11:04Sean McAllister: Take a listen.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: These two are cogmen.
- 11:08Sean McAllister: They're not very good con men.
- 11:10SPEAKER_05: We've been busy earning money to pay you back.
- 11:12SPEAKER_05: Then you've got the full amount.
- 11:16SPEAKER_05: How short are you?
- 11:18SPEAKER_05: It's about five feet.
- 11:24SPEAKER_05: Boys don't get this money prompted, then I guarantee you'll both be digging the grave before the week is out.
- 11:29SPEAKER_05: Harley Chaplin is buried right here in Vegas.
- 11:41SPEAKER_05: You might be on to something.
- 11:44Sean McAllister: That is a quick listen to the new film Stealing Chaplin, which just had its premiere right here in Las Vegas.
- 11:51Sean McAllister: Uh it's set here in Las Vegas and also stars one of our best-known Las Vegas entertainers, Dana.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Wayne Newton in the film, playing himself, which is the best way to be, right?
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: Because whenever we need someone to portray Las Vegas and give the exact feel of what we're all about, Wayne Newton's always called on.
- 12:11Sean McAllister: I mean, he's Mr.
- 12:12Sean McAllister: Las Vegas.
- 12:13Sean McAllister: He has to be in the Las Vegas movies, right?
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 12:16Dayna Roselli: And you and I were looking up some of the films he's been in, and I was saying, like, Wayne is just like the person you call on when you need like, well, like obviously he's a main, main part of Vegas Vacation, which is a classic.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: But then whenever you need like a cameo or something like that, I mean, Wayne's been in what was it, the Hangover, Ocean's 11, uh, Sharknado.
- 12:35Sean McAllister: Yeah, even James Bond, licensed to kill back in 1989.
- 12:40Sean McAllister: And I mean, the list goes on and on.
- 12:42Sean McAllister: Sharknado 4, even.
- 12:45Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 12:46Dayna Roselli: That was, you know, some of these films, they're like cult films, you know, like Sharknado was just, they never expected that to take off, and then it just kept going, and there was one, two, three.
- 12:55Dayna Roselli: I didn't even know there was a four.
- 12:56Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 12:57Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 12:57Sean McAllister: The the fourth one happened right here in Las Vegas.
- 13:00Sean McAllister: Sharks were flying everywhere, right around Wayne Coast.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 13:05Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 13:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's interesting.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: This story, Stealing Chaplin, you and I had had watched the film, and then we were like, you know, I know it said based on, you know, so true, you know, a true story based on.
- 13:16Dayna Roselli: So we looked it up.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: And it did happen, but it didn't really happen here in Las Vegas.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: It happened overseas in Europe.
- 13:24Sean McAllister: And we spoke with the film's producer and lead actor, Simon Phillips, about the story that made this movie come to be.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: It's an amazing true story of two brothers that actually dug up the body of Charlie Chaplin, tried to ransom it.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Um, it's a fantastic real life story, but we've taken it out of the 1970s and in Switzerland, which is where it originally happened in, and set it in modern day Vegas.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Um, and we've made it a comedy, which is I think what Charlie Chaplin would have wanted.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: Very true.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: It's a kind of a ridiculous scenario.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: If you tell people the story, they're almost like, really?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: That happened?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: You're like, that absolutely happened.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: So this is our uh homage to it, I think.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's interesting because we're you when you look at the title, you're like, wait, and then you start looking into it and you watch the trailer, you go, this is actually really looks really entertaining.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I think we had a lot of fun making a movie.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: So that's the most important thing, I think, when you're doing something like this.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: It's kind of we have a wink in a nudge to the camera.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Uh so we don't it is a true story, but I think we've taken a bit of liberties with it, and uh it's good, it's good fun.
- 14:21Dayna Roselli: So let me know, when did you shoot this?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: So we shot this just before the world changed uh in November last year in in Vegas.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: So actually, this day last year we were actually shooting the movie.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: So and it's incredible to be back in Vegas uh having the premiere.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: And it's always fun to see, you know, we've lived here a long time, Sean and I, over 15 years.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: It's fun to always see Wayne Newton in movies.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Oh, Wayne Newton was wow.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, that was sort of like life goals, you know, sort of uh yeah, Wayne was fantastic.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Actually, Wayne's whole family are in the movie.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Wayne's daughter, Lauren's in it, Wayne's wife, Kat, is in it.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Uh we've got the whole family involved.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So yeah, uh Wayne Newton, Mr.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Las Vegas, Jesus, nothing more is true.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Like that guy is uh just amazing.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's interesting because I know they had talked about uh different places to shoot this movie, like in Canada and things like that.
- 15:07Dayna Roselli: And finally, thank goodness, they they all came to Las Vegas and decided let's have you know the scene setter here, which you and I were chatting earlier saying that you know, like a lot of Las Vegas movies, they either do really well or they become cult films, like Sharknado we just mentioned, but we also put on the list Showgirls.
- 15:24Sean McAllister: Oh, Showgirls is I mean, Nomi Malone, everybody uh knows Nomi in her Versace instead of Versace.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: You know, people absolutely they love it or they hate it.
- 15:37Sean McAllister: And and I think it's so funny.
- 15:39Sean McAllister: But regardless of the the plot, Las Vegas is always becomes it its own character in the movies that are based here.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and Las Vegas is we have all the lights, you know, and the backdrop, and it's just always incredible.
- 15:54Dayna Roselli: You and I were noticing the plaza in a lot of the shots with all the lights underneath on the kind of along the sidewalk there that a lot of people go to take pictures.
- 16:02Sean McAllister: Well, and I mean that's the thing.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Las Vegas has an iconic backdrop, and Wayne Newton is an iconic Las Vegas figurehead, and so it makes sense that he was in the movie, but it was really cool that the rest of his family, his wife Kat and his daughter Lauren, were also in the film.
- 16:22Sean McAllister: And uh at the premiere right here in Las Vegas, Dana, you spoke with the Newton family about their roles.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: None of us had scenes together.
- 16:32Dayna Roselli: No, but we uh but we uh we enjoyed We had a ball.
- 16:36Dayna Roselli: We enjoyed it.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: We had a ball.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: There's something about uh a movie that's set in Vegas, and Wayne, I know you've been in many where sometimes it's a main part, sometimes it's a cameo, but it's always like when we need Vegas, we need Wayne, and that must feel good.
- 16:49SPEAKER_04: It feels wonderful, and I'm always kind of surprised, you know, which I hope that never goes away.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: Because uh being a part of Vegas in that way was never something that crossed my mind.
- 17:02Dayna Roselli: What do you have to say to our listeners?
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: We have listeners from around the world that want to visit Vegas again.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Well, what I tell you is stay safe, first of all, but then start moving ahead and planning your life, and that life's plan should include a trip to Las Vegas and see us all.
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: Because we're waiting for you with open arms.
- 17:25SPEAKER_04: The only thing more fun than this is going to a bank with one of those masks off.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: Oh, Wayne, he's such a funny guy, but you and I have interviewed Wayne for years and and know the family well, and you know, he's just really one of the kindest people, and every actor or actress we interviewed that was a part of this film said the same thing.
- 17:46Sean McAllister: Well, and he does.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: Wayne has such a big heart.
- 17:49Sean McAllister: And when it comes to promoting Las Vegas, that he kind of sees that as you know a part of his job, aside from entertaining.
- 17:59Sean McAllister: He knows that he's synonymous with Las Vegas, and so he he takes that part of his you know, his job and his life very seriously in in talking up Las Vegas and making sure that that people will come to Las Vegas and experience it in the right way and have a great time, and then go home and tell other people about their Las Vegas experience and kind of entice them to come here as well.
- 18:26Sean McAllister: So he really is.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: Wayne Newton is is one of the best ambassadors that the city has.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: No, it's so true.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: And I have uh friends and family that have come into town and they said, you know, I didn't follow Wayne Newton too much, or you know, I I always liked his music, but I didn't think to go see a show.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: And I know uh a couple specifically went to the Stardust to see him, and they say that was the best Vegas show and big Vegas experience they had ever had.
- 18:49Sean McAllister: Oh, I bet.
- 18:50Sean McAllister: Because I mean the Stardust, that was like, you know, one of the mob casinos back in the day, wasn't it?
- 18:56Sean McAllister: I guess they all were, really.
- 18:57Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think so.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:59Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: But um, speaking of movies, now this movie's gonna be out uh around the country, but not in every city, because in some cities, movie theaters aren't open.
- 19:10Dayna Roselli: So we were just thinking like, well, it's interesting because there are some movie theaters open here in Las Vegas, but there's not a lot of new content, you know.
- 19:18Dayna Roselli: It's sometimes just, you know, movies that they're replaying, or or I think there was like one new movie out recently.
- 19:24Dayna Roselli: So it's interesting that they decided to premiere Stealing Chaplin right now, but they think it was a really good decision.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: There's a a good number of states where we're not opening this weekend because the theaters aren't open.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: But the theaters that are open out there, those poor, they need new stuff.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: They can't keep showing reruns, they can't keep renting their little theaters out for private parties.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, we didn't forget them.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: You know, Hollywood said, no way, we're not gonna uh we're not gonna release this James Bond movie, for example, uh until all the theaters are open.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: So it was a big opportunity for us.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: And uh and I'm so happy we took it.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: I really am.
- 20:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that was Ken Bressers.
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: He is part of the dystopia films that created this film, Stealing Chaplin, and he plays a part in the movie as well.
- 20:17Dayna Roselli: But, you know, interesting take, he seemed really happy with their decision.
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 20:21Dayna Roselli: I think that there are people that want to go to the movies right now and want to watch something new, and I think it's gonna do really well here.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: Well, and it's just like people who want to go out to restaurants and want to go out shopping and want to go to attractions and you know, entertainment, you know, the the if there is this kind of thing out there, people who feel comfortable going are going to go, and it makes sense to have new content available to the people who are ready to go to movie theaters right now.
- 20:53Sean McAllister: So, you know, I I think that uh Stealing Chaplin is out in 20, just over 20 states across the country here in the United States.
- 21:04Sean McAllister: The film is already out in theaters across Europe.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: So if you are listening overseas, uh chances are that um, you know, there's a a movie house that's playing Stealing Chaplain near you.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: And you know, Sean, we we talked a little bit earlier before we go to break and we do our tips.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: We talked a little bit earlier about the Rio opening, and we didn't mention the World Series of Poker is on as well.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: So I wanted to quickly talk about that because I know a lot of people love to gamble and are interested in gaming that listen to our podcast.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: And and so that is on.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: The main event is returning.
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: And it's really cool how they're doing this.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: So, you know, part of it's obviously has to be mostly virtual.
- 21:46Dayna Roselli: We can't have that huge room full of people playing and touching their poker chips and and have their sunglasses on and all that.
- 21:53Sean McAllister: Well, I guess it'll be a little tougher to uh to tell who's bluffing if they have to wear masks.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: At the table now, right?
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: That's a really, really good point.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you can have the sunglasses and the masks now, and you won't know anything about anyone.
- 22:09Sean McAllister: Maybe they'll just go with the invisible face shield instead of the mask, so that so that at least you can still try and try and tell what people are thinking as the gameplay carries on.
- 22:22Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: So the final table is going to be at the Rio, and that's Monday, December 28th.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: And then play continues until a winner and the prize money and all that kind of thing.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: So I think it's taking place at the beginning at a couple different properties around the world.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: And then the main table is at the Rio.
- 22:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, so it'll be exciting to tune in virtually and watch that.
- 22:47Sean McAllister: I think usually ESPN um broadcasts the world series of poker also, which ESPN now has a partnership with Caesars Entertainment, which is the parent company of the Rio.
- 22:59Sean McAllister: And we have a brand new ESPN studio, which just debuted, I believe, last month, uh over at the Link.
- 23:07Sean McAllister: And it's a beautiful studio that overlooks Caesars Palace.
- 23:11Sean McAllister: And um, so yeah, ESPN based here.
- 23:14Sean McAllister: They'll likely be uh carrying the the World Series of poker again, in addition to the uh virtual setup that they have going on from the Rio as well.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I guess international players start on Sunday, November 29th, and then domestically it starts on Sunday, December 13th, and then as I mentioned, then the final table here at the Rio.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: So we're moving forward.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: We're we're in this this period now where we which we mentioned before, we're kind of in this stay-at-home, prefer you to stay at home order.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: And um, we did just learn, too, that our governor contracted COVID.
- 23:47Dayna Roselli: He did a test, a routine test, doesn't have any symptoms, but he did test positive, and so he's canceled all his public events.
- 23:55Dayna Roselli: So oh boy.
- 23:56Dayna Roselli: I know well for the 14-day shutdown, right?
- 24:01Sean McAllister: Well, it's a sign of the times, and you just have to do everything you can to stay safe.
- 24:05Sean McAllister: And uh, you know, watching things virtually, I think, is the way that we're gonna be doing things for for the foreseeable future.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: Um, it's getting boring, but we're just gonna have to make it through.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: Well, coming up next, uh, we have Dana and Sean's tips, and we're talking about the holidays again because there's so much going on to do with that.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: We've actually been working on a project that we're gonna tell you about.
- 24:29Dayna Roselli: Finally, we can, and then also got some great spots for you to hit for Thanksgiving.
- 24:34Sean McAllister: Keep it here on Vegas Reveal.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: We want to thank our sponsor, Steve Echo.
- 24:44Dayna Roselli: It's a collection of the finest, all-natural olive leaf teas.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: And the best part about that is that it's all natural and caffeine free.
- 24:54Sean McAllister: So now you can sip on that perfect cup of tea at night and not have to worry about staying up all night.
- 25:02Dayna Roselli: And that's exactly what I did.
- 25:04Dayna Roselli: The one that I tried recently was called Repose.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: It was delicious.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: It said it had a natural rose flavor, so I was curious and Sean.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: It literally tasted like roses, but it was so calming, and I loved just watching some TV and sipping on the tea in bed.
- 25:18Sean McAllister: And I tried the ascent.
- 25:20Sean McAllister: There were hints of vanilla and cinnamon in there.
- 25:23Sean McAllister: It kind of brought me back to when I would drink tea with my grandparents as a kid.
- 25:27Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: It's time to think about the holidays.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: You might be thinking, I'd love to send someone some tea as a gift.
- 25:33Dayna Roselli: Well, Steep Echo Tea has announced this new home for the holidays gift box.

- 26:12Dayna Roselli: Welcome back.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: It's time for Dana and Sean's tips, and we got a couple things to talk about.
- 26:17Dayna Roselli: One of them is a project that we have been working on, but we haven't been able to say anything.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: But finally, we can talk about it, and it has to do with the Nutcracker Ballet.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: I mean, what a show that is a part of so many people's holiday tradition.
- 26:31Dayna Roselli: And Sean, they can't perform this year here in Las Vegas.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: A Nevada Ballet uh usually uses the Smith Center, and the Smith Center still has not opened.
- 26:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I mean, just like uh Broadway, the Smith Center is a performing art center here in Las Vegas.
- 26:46Sean McAllister: Uh a lot of touring Broadway shows come through there.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: That kind of entertainment just isn't feasible right now.
- 26:54Sean McAllister: And the Smith Center is where Nevada Ballet Theater presents their version of the Nutcracker.
- 27:01Sean McAllister: And for decades this production has been a part of families' lives here in Las Vegas.
- 27:08Sean McAllister: And even though it's not going to be performed up on stage this year, uh we were asked to come and be a part of a very special presentation so that you don't have to go to the theater.
- 27:19Sean McAllister: The Nutcracker is coming directly into your living room.
- 27:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's gonna be a three-part series, and we're gonna show off the wardrobes, the behind the scenes, talk with the cast, talk with the kids, talk with uh the director of the Nevada Ballet.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: It's really a great show that shows everything that goes into this special production and what makes it special.
- 27:39Dayna Roselli: And we are actually going to do more on this coming up in another podcast, but we wanted to let everyone know that it's gonna be available online.
- 27:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is.
- 27:47Sean McAllister: Uh the Review Journal is uh the the newspaper here in Las Vegas.
- 27:53Sean McAllister: They partnered uh with Nevada Ballet Theater to produce this three-part series.
- 27:59Sean McAllister: So you will be able to see uh this Nutcracker Home for the Holidays three-part special online at LVRJ.com.
- 28:11Sean McAllister: Um, and that's going to be uh streaming uh in December.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 28:16Dayna Roselli: And you can also catch it at nevadaballet.org as well.
- 28:19Dayna Roselli: So two spots.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Um and then it'll be airing if you're listening here in the Las Vegas area, it'll be airing on Cox Cable on 1014 or 14 if you don't have HD.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: So it'll be great.
- 28:29Dayna Roselli: We'll have more about that coming up in future episodes.
- 28:32Dayna Roselli: But we also wanted to talk Thanksgiving because it's coming up.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: And some places around town, I shouldn't say some, like a lot of places around town, are obviously getting ready to do food delivery this year and ordering and and you being able to take it home to eat it.
- 28:48Sean McAllister: And a lot of people who uh didn't want to do the cooking themselves would depend on casino buffets for their Thanksgiving dinner.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: Those are shut down.
- 28:58Sean McAllister: So now there are people who are looking for alternatives.
- 29:03Dayna Roselli: That's right.
- 29:04Dayna Roselli: And there are some places that I don't want to say they won't be open because there's a lot of places that are actually going to be open in serving too and have specials.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: But listen, there's too many of them to go through.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: So if you live in Las Vegas, you're gonna be visiting Las Vegas during this time.
- 29:16Dayna Roselli: You want to hit dinner at in Las Vegas or Henderson in that area as well, or up in the northwest part of town.
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: There's a list of 97 options at vegas.eater.com.
- 29:29Dayna Roselli: We found that's the best site that lists it all.
- 29:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, there's a ton of different options there to you know, make dinner plans to dine in or take out for your Thanksgiving dinner.
- 29:41Sean McAllister: And you know that there's gonna be the turkey, there's gonna be all the fixins, anything you could want.

- 29:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it should be really, really good.
- 29:50Dayna Roselli: Check that out.
- 29:51Dayna Roselli: And you know, it's it's creeping up on us.
- 29:54Dayna Roselli: Boy, this year, obviously, because of everything going on.
- 29:56Dayna Roselli: For some people, it feels like it's been really long, others it feels like it's just flown by.
- 30:00Dayna Roselli: And for me, I feel like I can't even believe we're almost to Thanksgiving.
- 30:03Sean McAllister: I know, it's totally nuts.
- 30:04Sean McAllister: But hey, here we are.
