  some
• 1:53
  new

  stuff
• 1:54
  that
• 1:54
  I'll

  we

  a

  today,

• 2:04
  Welcome
• 2:05
  back
• 2:05
  to
• 2:05
  the
• 2:05
  show,
• 2:05
  brother.
• 2:06
  Thanks,
• 2:06
  man.
• 2:06
  Thanks
• 2:07
  for
• 2:07
  having
• 2:07
  me.
• 2:08
  Those
• 2:08
  little
• 2:09
  you're
• 2:09
  talking
• 2:09
  about
• 2:09
  on
• 2:10
  YouTube,
• 2:10
  one
• 2:10
  of
• 2:10
  those
• 2:10
  is
• 2:11
  the
• 2:11
  dancing
• 2:11
  one,
• 2:11
  right?
• 2:13
  Not
• 2:13
  yet.
• 2:13
  I
• 2:13
  got
• 2:14
  all
• 2:14
  month,
• 2:15
  I
• 2:15
  got
• 2:16
  all.
• 2:16
  Month,
• 2:16
  the
• 2:17
  choreographing
• 2:18
  over
• 2:18
  there.
• 2:19
  Oh
• 2:19
  yeah,
• 2:19
  I'm
• 2:20
  dancing
• 2:20
  with
• 2:20
  the
• 2:20
  stars.
• 2:22
  Actually,
• 2:23
  I
• 2:23
  can't
• 2:23
  dance.
• 2:23
  I'm
• 2:23
  gonna
• 2:24
  see
• 2:24
  if
• 2:24
  I
• 2:24
  can
• 2:24
  find
• 2:24
  somebody,
• 2:24
  I
• 2:25
  think
• 2:25
  to
• 2:25
  make
• 2:25
  me
• 2:25
  do
• 2:25
  it.
• 2:26
  But
• 2:26
  that's
• 2:26
  a
• 2:26
  whole
• 2:27
  other
• 2:27
  story.
• 2:30
  So
• 2:30
  today
• 2:30
  I
• 2:30
  wanted
• 2:31
  to
• 2:31
  talk
• 2:31
  about
• 2:31
  how
• 2:32
  to
• 2:32
  hire
• 2:32
  a
• 2:33
  contractor
• 2:33
  and
• 2:34
  how
• 2:34
  to
• 2:34
  do
• 2:34
  that
• 2:34
  because
• 2:35
  I
• 2:36
  tell
• 2:36
  you
• 2:36
  what,
• 2:36
  there
• 2:37
  are
• 2:38
  some
• 2:38
  amazing
• 2:39
  contractors
• 2:39
  out
• 2:40
  there,
• 2:41
  but
• 2:41
  there
• 2:41
  are
• 2:42
  also
• 2:42
  some
• 2:43
  serious
• 2:44
  hacks.
• 2:45
  And
• 2:45
  depending
• 2:45
  on
• 2:46
  where
• 2:46
  you
• 2:46
  live
• 2:48
  in
• 2:48
  the
• 2:48
  country,
• 2:48
  I
• 2:48
  mean,
• 2:49
  you
• 2:49
  know,
• 2:50
  here's
• 2:50
  the
• 2:50
  problem
• 2:50
  that
• 2:51
  I
• 2:51
  see.
• 2:51
  And
• 2:51
  John,
• 2:52
  you
• 2:52
  know
• 2:52
  this
• 2:52
  too.
• 2:52
  As
• 2:53
  a,
• 2:53
  you
• 2:53
  know,
• 2:53
  licensed
• 2:54
  bond
• 2:54
  insured
• 2:55
  contractor,
• 2:56
  it
• 2:56
  doesn't
• 2:57
  matter.
• 2:57
  Well,
• 2:57
  it
• 2:58
  does
• 2:58
  matter
• 2:58
  if
• 2:58
  you're
• 2:58
  in
• 2:59
  Oregon
• 2:59
  or
• 3:00
  if
• 3:00
  you're
• 3:00
  in
• 3:00
  Washington,
• 3:01
  D.C.
• 3:01
  or
• 3:01
  if
• 3:02
  you're
• 3:02
  in
• 3:02
  Alaska,
• 3:03
  Hawaii
• 3:03
  or
• 3:04
  Texas.
• 3:05
  It's
• 3:06
  the
• 3:06
  wild
• 3:06
  west.
• 3:07
  Because
• 3:07
  every
• 3:07
  state
• 3:08
  has
• 3:08
  their
• 3:08
  own
• 3:08
  rules
• 3:09
  and
• 3:09
  even
• 3:09
  some
• 3:09
  areas
• 3:10
  don't
• 3:10
  even
• 3:10
  require
• 3:11
  contractors
• 3:11
  to
• 3:12
  be
• 3:12
  licensed
• 3:12
  in
• 3:13
  this
• 3:13
  day
• 3:13
  and
• 3:13
  age.
• 3:15
  And
• 3:15
  so
• 3:15
  really
• 3:17
  what
• 3:17
  these
• 3:17
  contractor
• 3:18
  licenses
• 3:18
  can
• 3:19
  do
• 3:19
  is
• 3:19
  you
• 3:20
  as
• 3:20
  a
• 3:20
  consumer,
• 3:21
  it
• 3:22
  can
• 3:22
  really
• 3:23
  help
• 3:23
  protect
• 3:24
  you
• 3:25
  from
• 3:25
  finding
• 3:26
  somebody
• 3:26
  that's
• 3:26
  just
• 3:26
  going
• 3:26
  to
• 3:27
  take
• 3:27
  your,
• 3:27
  take
• 3:27
  your
• 3:28
  dollars
• 3:28
  and
• 3:28
  run
• 3:29
  like
• 3:29
  you
• 3:30
  were
• 3:30
  on
• 3:30
  my
• 3:30
  buddy
• 3:31
  Skip.
• 3:31
  Adele
• 3:31
  and
• 3:31
  Adam
• 3:32
  Carolla's
• 3:32
  show
• 3:32
  that
• 3:32
  catch
• 3:33
  a
• 3:33
  contractor
• 3:33
  show
• 3:34
  where
• 3:34
  people
• 3:34
  would
• 3:35
  pay
• 3:35
  the
• 3:35
  money,
• 3:36
  the
• 3:37
  job
• 3:37
  would
• 3:37
  get
• 3:37
  done,
• 3:38
  and
• 3:38
  guess
• 3:39
  what?
• 3:39
  It
• 3:40
  would
• 3:40
  be
• 3:41
  worse
• 3:42
  than
• 3:42
  what
• 3:42
  they
• 3:42
  started
• 3:43
  with.
• 3:43
  And
• 3:43
  then
• 3:44
  they
• 3:44
  have
• 3:44
  to
• 3:44
  pay
• 3:44
  them
• 3:44
  again
• 3:44
  to
• 3:45
  do
• 3:45
  it.
• 3:45
  And
• 3:45
  that's
• 3:45
  the
• 3:45
  sad
• 3:46
  part.
• 3:46
  The
• 3:47
  guy
• 3:47
  shows
• 3:47
  up
• 3:47
  in
• 3:47
  a
• 3:47
  Celica
• 3:48
  with
• 3:48
  a
• 3:48
  skill
• 3:49
  saw
• 3:49
  in
• 3:49
  the
• 3:49
  back
• 3:50
  and
• 3:50
  the
• 3:50
  missing
• 3:51
  hubcap
• 3:52
  don't
• 3:52
  do
• 3:52
  it
• 3:53
  well.
• 3:54
  But
• 3:54
  at
• 3:54
  the
• 3:54
  same
• 3:54
  point,
• 3:55
  I
• 3:55
  always
• 3:55
  worry
• 3:55
  about
• 3:56
  the
• 3:56
  guy
• 3:56
  showing
• 3:56
  up.
• 3:57
  Could
• 3:57
  be,
• 3:58
  he
• 3:58
  could
• 3:58
  be
• 3:58
  good.
• 3:58
  But
• 3:59
  here's
• 3:59
  the
• 3:59
  thing.
• 3:59
  I'd
• 3:59
  almost
• 4:00
  rather
• 4:00
  see
• 4:00
  that
• 4:00
  though,
• 4:01
  versus
• 4:01
  the
• 4:01
  guy
• 4:01
  showing
• 4:02
  up
• 4:02
  in
• 4:02
  the,
• 4:03
  you
• 4:03
  know,
• 4:04
  in
• 4:04
  the
• 4:04
  Lexus
• 4:05
  SUV
• 4:05
  that's
• 4:06
  brand
• 4:06
  new
• 4:07
  or
• 4:08
  the140,000
• 4:10
  lifted
• 4:10
  truck,
• 4:11
  you
• 4:12
  know
• 4:12
  what
• 4:12
  I
• 4:12
  mean?
• 4:12
  So
• 4:12
  it's.
• 4:12
  It's
• 4:13
  six
• 4:13
  in
• 4:13
  one
• 4:13
  hand,
• 4:14
  half
• 4:14
  a
• 4:14
  dozen
• 4:14
  the
• 4:14
  other.
• 4:15
  There's
• 4:15
  extremes
• 4:15
  there,
• 4:16
  there,
• 4:16
  but
• 4:16
  yeah,
• 4:17
  it's.
• 4:17
  Yeah,
• 4:19
  you
• 4:19
  know,
• 4:19
  it's.
• 4:19
  It's
• 4:20
  interesting.
• 4:20
  And
• 4:21
  that's
• 4:21
  one
• 4:21
  of
• 4:21
  the
• 4:21
  things.
• 4:22
  And
• 4:22
  great
• 4:23
  example.
• 4:23
  And
• 4:24
  this
• 4:24
  is
• 4:24
  where
• 4:24
  you
• 4:24
  as
• 4:25
  a
• 4:25
  homeowner
• 4:25
  need
• 4:25
  to
• 4:25
  be
• 4:25
  diligent.
• 4:26
  We'll
• 4:26
  talk
• 4:26
  about
• 4:26
  all
• 4:27
  the
• 4:27
  steps
• 4:27
  you
• 4:27
  should
• 4:27
  take
• 4:27
  here,
• 4:28
  but
• 4:29
  I
• 4:29
  want
• 4:29
  to
• 4:29
  start
• 4:29
  out
• 4:30
  with
• 4:30
  this
• 4:30
  kind
• 4:30
  of
• 4:30
  story
• 4:31
  because
• 4:31
  it
• 4:31
  really
• 4:32
  tells
• 4:32
  what
• 4:32
  happens.
• 4:33
  And
• 4:34
  this
• 4:34
  is
• 4:34
  where
• 4:34
  you
• 4:34
  as
• 4:34
  a
• 4:35
  homeowner,
• 4:35
  it's
• 4:35
  on
• 4:35
  you
• 4:36
  to
• 4:36
  do
• 4:36
  your
• 4:36
  research.
• 4:38
  Had
• 4:38
  a
• 4:38
  buddy
• 4:38
  who's
• 4:38
  a
• 4:39
  realtor
• 4:39
  reach
• 4:39
  out
• 4:39
  and
• 4:39
  go,
• 4:40
  eric,
• 4:40
  I
• 4:40
  got
• 4:40
  a
• 4:40
  guy,
• 4:42
  he's
• 4:42
  trying
• 4:42
  to
• 4:42
  help
• 4:43
  his
• 4:43
  parents
• 4:43
  out.
• 4:43
  He
• 4:43
  hired
• 4:44
  a
• 4:44
  contractor,
• 4:45
  he's
• 4:45
  $200,000
• 4:47
  in
• 4:48
  and
• 4:49
  the
• 4:49
  house
• 4:49
  isn't
• 4:50
  getting
• 4:50
  done
• 4:50
  very
• 4:50
  well.
• 4:50
  Can
• 4:50
  you
• 4:51
  go
• 4:51
  take
• 4:51
  a
• 4:51
  look
• 4:51
  at
• 4:52
  it?
• 4:53
  Sure,
• 4:53
  I'll
• 4:53
  Cruise
• 4:54
  over.
• 4:54
  There's
• 4:54
  10
• 4:54
  minutes
• 4:54
  from
• 4:55
  my
• 4:55
  house,
• 4:55
  not
• 4:55
  a
• 4:55
  big
• 4:55
  deal.
• 4:56
  I
• 4:57
  cruise
• 4:57
  over
• 4:57
  there.
• 4:58
  Holy
• 4:58
  hell.
• 5:00
  I
• 5:00
  felt
• 5:00
  so
• 5:01
  bad
• 5:01
  for
• 5:01
  this
• 5:01
  guy
• 5:01
  at
• 5:02
  first
• 5:03
  because
• 5:04
  this
• 5:04
  guy
• 5:04
  had
• 5:04
  already
• 5:05
  spent
• 5:05
  a
• 5:05
  couple
• 5:05
  hundred
• 5:05
  grand
• 5:06
  on
• 5:06
  this
• 5:06
  remodel
• 5:08
  and
• 5:08
  everything
• 5:09
  had
• 5:09
  to
• 5:09
  be
• 5:10
  start,
• 5:10
  just
• 5:11
  start
• 5:11
  over.
• 5:13
  So
• 5:14
  he
• 5:14
  the
• 5:15
  contract.
• 5:15
  And
• 5:15
  again,
• 5:16
  I
• 5:16
  don't
• 5:16
  know
• 5:16
  who
• 5:16
  the
• 5:16
  contractor
• 5:17
  was.
• 5:17
  Never
• 5:17
  saw
• 5:17
  him
• 5:18
  look
• 5:18
  like
• 5:19
  he
• 5:19
  might
• 5:19
  have
• 5:19
  been
• 5:19
  a
• 5:20
  painter
• 5:20
  in
• 5:20
  some
• 5:21
  previous
• 5:21
  life.
• 5:21
  Maybe
• 5:22
  because
• 5:22
  the
• 5:23
  painting
• 5:23
  skills
• 5:23
  were
• 5:23
  halfway
• 5:24
  decent.
• 5:25
  But
• 5:25
  he
• 5:25
  decided
• 5:25
  to
• 5:26
  build
• 5:26
  his
• 5:26
  own
• 5:26
  kitchen
• 5:27
  cabinets.
• 5:28
  Well,
• 5:28
  it
• 5:28
  looks
• 5:28
  like
• 5:28
  he
• 5:29
  started
• 5:29
  out
• 5:29
  with
• 5:29
  some
• 5:30
  cabinets
• 5:30
  from
• 5:31
  maybe
• 5:31
  a
• 5:32
  donation
• 5:32
  place
• 5:32
  and
• 5:33
  then
• 5:33
  kind
• 5:34
  of
• 5:34
  tried
• 5:34
  to
• 5:35
  build
• 5:35
  frame
• 5:35
  to
• 5:35
  frameless
• 5:36
  whatever
• 5:37
  with
• 5:37
  them.
• 5:38
  I
• 5:38
  knew
• 5:39
  we
• 5:39
  were
• 5:39
  in
• 5:39
  big
• 5:39
  problems
• 5:40
  when
• 5:40
  the
• 5:40
  guy,
• 5:41
  the
• 5:42
  homeowner,
• 5:43
  had
• 5:43
  a
• 5:43
  double
• 5:44
  oven
• 5:44
  sitting
• 5:44
  there,
• 5:45
  nice
• 5:45
  LG
• 5:46
  double
• 5:46
  oven.
• 5:47
  There
• 5:47
  was
• 5:47
  a
• 5:47
  cabinet
• 5:48
  that
• 5:48
  was
• 5:49
  built
• 5:50
  out
• 5:50
  of
• 5:50
  one
• 5:50
  by
• 5:50
  twos
• 5:51
  that
• 5:51
  didn't
• 5:51
  look
• 5:51
  very
• 5:52
  good
• 5:53
  and
• 5:54
  kind
• 5:54
  of
• 5:55
  face
• 5:55
  frame
• 5:55
  kind
• 5:55
  of
• 5:56
  thing.
• 5:56
  I
• 5:56
  look
• 5:56
  in
• 5:56
  the
• 5:56
  back
• 5:58
  and
• 5:58
  there's
• 5:59
  14,
• 6:00
  two
• 6:00
  Romex
• 6:01
  in
• 6:01
  the
• 6:01
  back
• 6:01
  of
• 6:01
  that.
• 6:02
  So
• 6:02
  there
• 6:02
  is
• 6:03
  a
• 6:04
  110.
• 6:06
  Wow.
• 6:07
  You
• 6:07
  know,
• 6:08
  15amp
• 6:08
  circuit
• 6:09
  going
• 6:09
  to
• 6:09
  the
• 6:09
  back
• 6:09
  of
• 6:09
  that.
• 6:10
  And
• 6:10
  I'm
• 6:10
  like,
• 6:10
  that's
• 6:11
  not
• 6:11
  gonna
• 6:11
  work.
• 6:12
  But
• 6:12
  the
• 6:13
  crazy
• 6:13
  part
• 6:13
  was
• 6:13
  that
• 6:14
  was
• 6:14
  going
• 6:14
  to
• 6:14
  a
• 6:15
  40amp
• 6:16
  breaker.
• 6:17
  So
• 6:17
  who
• 6:17
  knows
• 6:18
  what
• 6:19
  happened.
• 6:21
  So
• 6:21
  I
• 6:21
  went
• 6:21
  and
• 6:21
  looked
• 6:21
  at
• 6:21
  the
• 6:22
  bathrooms.
• 6:22
  The
• 6:23
  bathrooms
• 6:23
  were
• 6:23
  even
• 6:24
  worse.
• 6:25
  It
• 6:25
  looked
• 6:25
  like,
• 6:26
  you
• 6:26
  know,
• 6:26
  you
• 6:26
  watch
• 6:26
  some
• 6:27
  of
• 6:27
  these
• 6:27
  HDTV
• 6:28
  shows
• 6:28
  and
• 6:29
  they
• 6:29
  have
• 6:30
  the
• 6:30
  host
• 6:30
  trying
• 6:30
  to
• 6:31
  set
• 6:31
  tile
• 6:31
  on
• 6:31
  camera
• 6:32
  and
• 6:32
  you
• 6:32
  can
• 6:32
  tell,
• 6:32
  it's
• 6:33
  like
• 6:33
  you
• 6:33
  have
• 6:34
  never
• 6:34
  touched
• 6:34
  a
• 6:35
  trowel
• 6:36
  and
• 6:36
  a
• 6:36
  piece
• 6:37
  of
• 6:37
  tile
• 6:37
  in
• 6:37
  your
• 6:38
  entire
• 6:38
  life
• 6:38
  and
• 6:38
  tried
• 6:39
  to
• 6:39
  put
• 6:39
  those
• 6:39
  two
• 6:40
  pieces
• 6:40
  together.
• 6:41
  Didn't
• 6:42
  you
• 6:42
  know,
• 6:42
  you
• 6:43
  could
• 6:43
  just
• 6:43
  go,
• 6:43
  wow,
• 6:43
  that's
• 6:44
  foreign
• 6:44
  to
• 6:44
  you?
• 6:45
  Yeah.
• 6:46
  This
• 6:46
  was
• 6:46
  foreign
• 6:46
  to
• 6:46
  this
• 6:47
  guy
• 6:47
  too.
• 6:47
  He
• 6:47
  had
• 6:47
  started
• 6:48
  out
• 6:48
  the
• 6:48
  shower
• 6:48
  with
• 6:49
  drywall.
• 6:50
  He
• 6:51
  built
• 6:51
  this
• 6:51
  base
• 6:52
  shower
• 6:52
  base.
• 6:52
  It
• 6:52
  was
• 6:53
  really
• 6:53
  nice,
• 6:54
  but
• 6:54
  it
• 6:54
  was
• 6:54
  on
• 6:55
  a
• 6:55
  concrete
• 6:55
  slab
• 6:55
  because
• 6:56
  it
• 6:56
  was
• 6:56
  in
• 6:56
  the
• 6:56
  basement.
• 6:57
  And
• 6:57
  he
• 6:58
  had
• 6:58
  not
• 6:59
  put
• 6:59
  the
• 6:59
  drain
• 7:00
  down
• 7:00
  in
• 7:00
  there.
• 7:00
  So
• 7:00
  the
• 7:00
  drain
• 7:01
  was
• 7:01
  off
• 7:01
  by
• 7:01
  like
• 7:01
  an
• 7:02
  inch
• 7:02
  and
• 7:02
  a
• 7:02
  half.
• 7:04
  Now
• 7:04
  the
• 7:04
  only
• 7:04
  way
• 7:04
  to
• 7:04
  do
• 7:05
  that
• 7:05
  is
• 7:05
  to
• 7:05
  rip
• 7:05
  the
• 7:05
  floor
• 7:05
  back
• 7:06
  up.
• 7:06
  So
• 7:07
  it
• 7:07
  was.
• 7:07
  It
• 7:07
  was
• 7:08
  just
• 7:08
  one
• 7:08
  of
• 7:08
  those
• 7:09
  things.
• 7:10
  And
• 7:10
  then
• 7:10
  I
• 7:10
  walked
• 7:10
  around
• 7:11
  to
• 7:11
  the
• 7:11
  back.
• 7:12
  Oh,
• 7:13
  yeah,
• 7:13
  it
• 7:13
  was
• 7:13
  even
• 7:14
  worse.
• 7:15
  The
• 7:15
  deck
• 7:16
  had
• 7:16
  a
• 7:16
  50%
• 7:17
  cantilever
• 7:19
  off
• 7:19
  the
• 7:19
  beam.
• 7:22
  Yeah.
• 7:24
  So,
• 7:24
  guys,
• 7:24
  what
• 7:25
  I'm
• 7:25
  talking
• 7:25
  about
• 7:25
  is
• 7:25
  that,
• 7:25
  you
• 7:26
  know,
• 7:26
  sometimes
• 7:26
  you'll
• 7:27
  have
• 7:27
  like
• 7:27
  two
• 7:27
  feet
• 7:27
  of
• 7:28
  the
• 7:28
  cantilever.
• 7:28
  You'll
• 7:28
  have
• 7:29
  the
• 7:29
  beams
• 7:29
  and
• 7:29
  the
• 7:30
  floor
• 7:30
  decking
• 7:31
  going
• 7:31
  on
• 7:31
  it.
• 7:31
  You
• 7:31
  have
• 7:32
  the.
• 7:32
  The
• 7:32
  posts
• 7:33
  and
• 7:33
  the
• 7:34
  beam
• 7:34
  across
• 7:34
  there,
• 7:35
  and
• 7:35
  your
• 7:35
  two
• 7:36
  by
• 7:36
  six
• 7:36
  tens,
• 7:37
  twelves,
• 7:37
  whatever
• 7:37
  the
• 7:38
  size
• 7:38
  of
• 7:38
  the
• 7:38
  deck
• 7:38
  is,
• 7:38
  is
• 7:39
  sitting
• 7:39
  on
• 7:39
  there.
• 7:40
  Yeah,
• 7:40
  it
• 7:40
  was
• 7:40
  right
• 7:41
  down
• 7:41
  the
• 7:41
  middle
• 7:41
  of
• 7:41
  the
• 7:41
  deck.
• 7:42
  So
• 7:42
  you
• 7:42
  had.
• 7:42
  If
• 7:42
  you
• 7:43
  put
• 7:43
  five
• 7:44
  people
• 7:44
  out
• 7:44
  there,
• 7:44
  you
• 7:45
  had
• 7:45
  a
• 7:45
  springboard
• 7:46
  going,
• 7:47
  and
• 7:47
  you're
• 7:47
  hoping
• 7:48
  that
• 7:48
  that
• 7:48
  didn't
• 7:48
  pull
• 7:48
  out
• 7:48
  of
• 7:49
  the
• 7:49
  side
• 7:49
  of
• 7:49
  the
• 7:49
  house
• 7:49
  because
• 7:49
  otherwise
• 7:50
  you're
• 7:50
  going
• 7:51
  on
• 7:51
  the
• 7:51
  ground.
• 7:51
  Y.
• 7:53
  So
• 7:54
  it
• 7:54
  was
• 7:54
  those
• 7:54
  kind
• 7:54
  of
• 7:55
  things,
• 7:55
  you
• 7:55
  know,
• 7:55
  just.
• 7:56
  And
• 7:56
  I'm
• 7:57
  like,
• 7:57
  brother,
• 7:58
  you're
• 7:58
  gonna
• 7:59
  have
• 7:59
  to
• 7:59
  start
• 7:59
  over.
• 8:00
  You
• 8:01
  have
• 8:01
  spent
• 8:01
  all
• 8:01
  this
• 8:02
  money
• 8:02
  and,
• 8:03
  you
• 8:04
  know,
• 8:04
  try
• 8:04
  to
• 8:04
  get
• 8:04
  some
• 8:04
  of
• 8:04
  that
• 8:05
  money
• 8:05
  back.
• 8:05
  But
• 8:05
  I
• 8:05
  think
• 8:05
  it's
• 8:06
  all
• 8:06
  been
• 8:06
  spent.
• 8:06
  And
• 8:06
  when
• 8:07
  I
• 8:07
  see
• 8:09
  Ryobi
• 8:09
  tools
• 8:11
  sitting
• 8:11
  around.
• 8:11
  Sorry,
• 8:12
  Ryobi.
• 8:13
  Most
• 8:14
  contractors
• 8:14
  aren't
• 8:15
  going
• 8:15
  to
• 8:15
  have
• 8:15
  those
• 8:15
  in
• 8:15
  their
• 8:15
  hands
• 8:16
  that
• 8:16
  are
• 8:16
  serious.
• 8:17
  I
• 8:17
  was
• 8:17
  like,
• 8:17
  okay,
• 8:18
  that
• 8:18
  tells
• 8:18
  the
• 8:18
  story.
• 8:19
  So
• 8:19
  the
• 8:19
  guy
• 8:19
  was
• 8:20
  getting
• 8:20
  some
• 8:20
  money
• 8:20
  back,
• 8:21
  but
• 8:21
  he
• 8:21
  decided
• 8:21
  to
• 8:22
  hire
• 8:22
  somebody
• 8:22
  else.
• 8:23
  And
• 8:23
  I
• 8:23
  said,
• 8:23
  okay,
• 8:24
  man,
• 8:24
  here's
• 8:24
  the
• 8:24
  contractors
• 8:25
  I
• 8:25
  would
• 8:26
  use.
• 8:27
  And
• 8:27
  this
• 8:27
  is
• 8:28
  where
• 8:28
  it
• 8:28
  gets
• 8:28
  crazy.
• 8:29
  This
• 8:30
  is
• 8:30
  where
• 8:30
  I
• 8:30
  have
• 8:31
  to
• 8:31
  put
• 8:31
  it
• 8:31
  on
• 8:31
  the
• 8:31
  homeowner
• 8:32
  again.
• 8:33
  He
• 8:33
  went
• 8:33
  out
• 8:34
  trying
• 8:34
  to
• 8:34
  save
• 8:34
  money,
• 8:35
  was
• 8:35
  hiring
• 8:35
  another
• 8:36
  unlicensed,
• 8:37
  unbonded,
• 8:37
  uninsured
• 8:38
  contractor
• 8:39
  that
• 8:40
  was
• 8:40
  60,000
• 8:40
  doll,
• 8:41
  thousand
• 8:41
  dollars
• 8:41
  less
• 8:41
  to
• 8:42
  do
• 8:42
  it
• 8:42
  again.
• 8:42
  And
• 8:42
  I
• 8:42
  walked
• 8:43
  away
• 8:43
  and
• 8:43
  I
• 8:43
  said,
• 8:43
  hey,
• 8:44
  man,
• 8:44
  can't
• 8:44
  help
• 8:45
  you.
• 8:45
  You're
• 8:45
  making
• 8:45
  the
• 8:46
  same
• 8:46
  mistake
• 8:46
  again.
• 8:47
  And
• 8:47
  they're
• 8:48
  gonna
• 8:48
  probably
• 8:49
  take
• 8:49
  your
• 8:49
  money
• 8:49
  and
• 8:50
  now
• 8:50
  you're
• 8:50
  gonna
• 8:50
  be
• 8:50
  three
• 8:51
  or
• 8:51
  four
• 8:51
  hundred
• 8:51
  thousand
• 8:52
  dollars
• 8:52
  again
• 8:53
  and
• 8:53
  have
• 8:53
  to
• 8:53
  do
• 8:53
  it
• 8:53
  all
• 8:53
  over
• 8:54
  again.
• 8:54
  Couldn't
• 8:54
  help
• 8:55
  themselves,
• 8:55
  you
• 8:56
  know,
• 8:56
  and
• 8:56
  that's.
• 8:57
  That's
• 8:57
  the
• 8:57
  problem.
• 8:58
  And
• 8:58
  that's
• 8:58
  one
• 8:58
  thing
• 8:59
  I
• 8:59
  learned
• 8:59
  with
• 8:59
  people
• 8:59
  as
• 9:00
  well.
• 9:00
  And,
• 9:01
  you
• 9:01
  know,
• 9:01
  we've
• 9:01
  got
• 9:02
  the
• 9:02
  smartest
• 9:02
  audience
• 9:03
  out
• 9:03
  there
• 9:03
  at
• 9:03
  Home
• 9:04
  Improvement,
• 9:04
  all
• 9:04
  you
• 9:05
  guys
• 9:05
  out
• 9:05
  there
• 9:05
  listening.
• 9:05
  But
• 9:06
  this
• 9:06
  is
• 9:06
  the
• 9:06
  one
• 9:06
  thing
• 9:06
  that
• 9:07
  I've
• 9:07
  learned
• 9:08
  even
• 9:08
  when
• 9:08
  I
• 9:08
  was
• 9:08
  out
• 9:09
  helping
• 9:09
  companies,
• 9:10
  like,
• 9:10
  I'm
• 9:11
  not
• 9:11
  going
• 9:11
  to
• 9:11
  use
• 9:11
  a
• 9:11
  company
• 9:12
  name,
• 9:12
  but
• 9:12
  when
• 9:13
  you
• 9:13
  and
• 9:13
  I
• 9:13
  both
• 9:13
  worked
• 9:14
  with
• 9:14
  Vern,
• 9:15
  and
• 9:15
  I'll
• 9:15
  just
• 9:15
  use
• 9:15
  that
• 9:16
  name.
• 9:16
  Yep.
• 9:17
  Couldn't
• 9:18
  get
• 9:18
  out
• 9:18
  of
• 9:18
  his
• 9:18
  own
• 9:19
  way.
• 9:19
  Yeah,
• 9:20
  I
• 9:21
  tried
• 9:21
  to
• 9:21
  help
• 9:21
  him,
• 9:22
  My
• 9:22
  buddy
• 9:22
  Corey
• 9:22
  and
• 9:22
  I
• 9:23
  tried
• 9:23
  to
• 9:23
  help
• 9:23
  that
• 9:23
  company
• 9:24
  get
• 9:24
  turned
• 9:24
  around.
• 9:25
  And
• 9:25
  as
• 9:25
  soon
• 9:25
  as
• 9:26
  we
• 9:26
  left,
• 9:26
  he
• 9:26
  ran
• 9:27
  right
• 9:27
  back
• 9:27
  down
• 9:27
  into
• 9:27
  the
• 9:28
  ground
• 9:28
  again.
• 9:28
  And
• 9:28
  a
• 9:28
  year
• 9:28
  and
• 9:28
  a
• 9:29
  half
• 9:29
  later,
• 9:29
  I
• 9:29
  see
• 9:29
  the
• 9:29
  auction,
• 9:30
  you
• 9:30
  know,
• 9:31
  of
• 9:31
  my
• 9:31
  desk
• 9:31
  and
• 9:32
  stuff.
• 9:33
  You
• 9:34
  as
• 9:34
  a
• 9:34
  homeowner
• 9:35
  have
• 9:35
  to
• 9:35
  get
• 9:35
  out
• 9:36
  of
• 9:36
  your
• 9:36
  own
• 9:36
  way
• 9:36
  and
• 9:37
  not
• 9:37
  make
• 9:37
  those
• 9:37
  decisions
• 9:38
  based
• 9:38
  on
• 9:38
  money
• 9:40
  because
• 9:40
  it's
• 9:41
  not
• 9:41
  going
• 9:41
  to
• 9:41
  usually
• 9:42
  work
• 9:42
  out.
• 9:42
  You
• 9:42
  might
• 9:42
  get
• 9:43
  lucky,
• 9:43
  and
• 9:43
  it
• 9:43
  works
• 9:43
  out
• 9:44
  great.
• 9:44
  But
• 9:44
  that's
• 9:44
  kind
• 9:44
  of
• 9:45
  how
• 9:45
  that's
• 9:45
  going
• 9:45
  to
• 9:45
  go.
• 9:47
  It's
• 9:47
  going
• 9:47
  to
• 9:47
  get
• 9:47
  expensive.
• 9:48
  So
• 9:49
  in
• 9:49
  the
• 9:49
  next
• 9:49
  segment,
• 9:50
  Johnny,
• 9:50
  I
• 9:50
  want
• 9:50
  you
• 9:50
  and
• 9:50
  I
• 9:51
  to
• 9:51
  kind
• 9:51
  of
• 9:51
  walk
• 9:51
  through
• 9:51
  here.
• 9:52
  We're
• 9:52
  going
• 9:53
  to
• 9:53
  run
• 9:53
  to
• 9:53
  break
• 9:53
  here,
• 9:53
  but
• 9:54
  I
• 9:54
  want
• 9:54
  to
• 9:54
  walk
• 9:54
  through
• 9:54
  the
• 9:55
  stuff
• 9:55
  to
• 9:55
  make
• 9:56
  sure
• 9:56
  that
• 9:56
  everybody
• 9:57
  understands
• 9:57
  kind
• 9:57
  of
• 9:58
  the
• 9:58
  process,
• 9:59
  what
• 9:59
  to
• 9:59
  look
• 9:59
  for
• 10:00
  and
• 10:00
  what
• 10:01
  are
• 10:01
  the
• 10:01
  tricks
• 10:01
  that
• 10:01
  some
• 10:01
  of
• 10:02
  these
• 10:02
  people
• 10:02
  that
• 10:02
  you
• 10:02
  see
• 10:02
  on
• 10:02
  nextdoor
• 10:03
  that
• 10:03
  aren't
• 10:03
  licensed
• 10:04
  or
• 10:04
  will
• 10:05
  never
• 10:05
  be
• 10:05
  able
• 10:05
  to
• 10:05
  get
• 10:06
  a
• 10:06
  license,
• 10:06
  bond,
• 10:07
  or
• 10:07
  insurance,
• 10:08
  how
• 10:08
  to
• 10:08
  keep
• 10:08
  those
• 10:09
  people
• 10:09
  out
• 10:09
  of
• 10:09
  the
• 10:09
  mix
• 10:09
  so
• 10:10
  you
• 10:10
  can
• 10:10
  find
• 10:10
  those
• 10:10
  good
• 10:11
  contractors
• 10:11
  and
• 10:12
  have
• 10:12
  them
• 10:12
  come
• 10:12
  work
• 10:12
  on
• 10:13
  your
• 10:13
  project.
• 10:13
  We'll
• 10:14
  do
• 10:14
  that
• 10:14
  just
• 10:14
  as
• 10:14
  soon
• 10:15
  as
• 10:15
  around
• 10:15
  the
• 10:15
  House
• 10:16
  returns.
• 10:16
  Don't
• 10:17
  worry,
• 10:17
  we're
• 10:17
  gonna
• 10:17
  get
• 10:18
  positive.
• 10:18
  We
• 10:18
  got
• 10:18
  the
• 10:19
  secrets
• 10:19
  for
• 10:19
  you
• 10:19
  when
• 10:20
  we
• 10:20
  come
• 10:20
  back.
• 10:20
  Don't
• 10:20
  change
• 10:21
  that
• 10:21
  dial.
• 10:22
  Time
• 10:23
  for
• 10:23
  a
• 10:23
  quick
• 10:23
  pause.
• 10:24
  Go
• 10:24
  measure
• 10:25
  something
• 10:25
  twice,
• 10:25
  cut
• 10:26
  it
• 10:26
  once
• 10:26
  and
• 10:27
  regret
• 10:27
  it
• 10:27
  forever.
• 10:28
  Around
• 10:28
  the
• 10:29
  house.
• 10:29
  We'll
• 10:29
  be
• 10:29
  right
• 10:30
  back.
• 10:37
  The
• 11:56
  kids
• 11:56
  these
• 11:57
  days
• 11:57
  will
• 11:57
  never
• 11:58
  understand
• 12:01
  what
• 12:02
  it's
• 12:02
  like
• 12:02
  to
• 12:02
  play
• 12:03
  an
• 12:03
  instrument,
• 12:05
  to
• 12:05
  be
• 12:05
  in
• 12:06
  a
• 12:06
  band.
• 12:07
  What's
• 12:07
  up?
• 12:07
  This
• 12:08
  is
• 12:08
  Sticksydenia
• 12:09
  and
• 12:09
  Satchel
• 12:10
  from
• 12:10
  Steel
• 12:11
  Panther.
• 12:11
  And
• 12:12
  you
• 12:12
  are
• 12:12
  listening
• 12:13
  to
• 12:13
  around
• 12:14
  the
• 12:14
  House
• 12:14
  with
• 12:14
  Eric
• 12:15
  G.
• 12:16
  Yeah,
• 12:17
  we
• 12:17
  love.
• 12:17
  Eric
• 12:18
  G.
• 12:18
  And
• 12:18
  you
• 12:19
  should
• 12:19
  too.
• 12:21
  1987.
• 12:24
  I
• 12:24
  never
• 12:25
  want
• 12:25
  to
• 12:25
  leave
• 12:25
  you.
• 12:26
  Welcome
• 12:27
  back
• 12:27
  to
• 12:27
  the
• 12:27
  around
• 12:27
  the
• 12:27
  House
• 12:28
  show.
• 12:28
  The
• 12:28
  next
• 12:28
  generation
• 12:29
  of
• 12:29
  home
• 12:29
  improvement.
• 12:30
  I'm
• 12:30
  Eric
• 12:30
  G.
• 12:31
  Thanks
• 12:31
  for
• 12:31
  joining
• 12:31
  me.
• 12:32
  Of
• 12:32
  course.
• 12:32
  We
• 12:32
  got
• 12:33
  Johnny
• 12:33
  Dudley
• 12:33
  here
• 12:34
  in
• 12:34
  the
• 12:34
  studio.
• 12:34
  Sight
• 12:35
  Hype
• 12:35
  Designs.
• 12:37
  Contractor,
• 12:38
  web
• 12:38
  designer.
• 12:39
  This
• 12:40
  guy
• 12:40
  helps
• 12:40
  contractors
• 12:41
  out
• 12:41
  there
• 12:42
  get
• 12:42
  their
• 12:43
  businesses
• 12:43
  turned
• 12:43
  around
• 12:44
  online.
• 12:45
  So
• 12:45
  you're
• 12:46
  the
• 12:46
  master
• 12:46
  of
• 12:46
  that,
• 12:47
  brother.
• 12:48
  Is
• 12:48
  it
• 12:48
  speaking
• 12:49
  of
• 12:49
  a
• 12:49
  good
• 12:49
  way
• 12:49
  to
• 12:49
  find
• 12:50
  a
• 12:50
  good
• 12:50
  contractor?
• 12:50
  And
• 12:51
  it's
• 12:51
  not
• 12:51
  always
• 12:51
  the
• 12:52
  truth,
• 12:52
  and
• 12:53
  I'm
• 12:53
  not
• 12:53
  pitching
• 12:54
  web
• 12:54
  design,
• 12:54
  but
• 12:55
  for
• 12:55
  goodness
• 12:56
  sake,
• 12:56
  man,
• 12:56
  if
• 12:56
  you're
• 12:57
  a
• 12:57
  contractor,
• 12:57
  Scotty
• 12:58
  used
• 12:58
  to
• 12:58
  be
• 12:58
  like
• 12:58
  that.
• 12:59
  I
• 12:59
  did
• 12:59
  this
• 12:59
  little
• 12:59
  thing
• 12:59
  on
• 13:00
  wix.
• 13:00
  I'm
• 13:00
  like,
• 13:01
  brother,
• 13:02
  if
• 13:02
  you
• 13:02
  want
• 13:03
  to
• 13:03
  look
• 13:03
  like
• 13:03
  your
• 13:03
  York's
• 13:04
  remodeling,
• 13:05
  then
• 13:05
  make
• 13:05
  it
• 13:05
  look
• 13:07
  like
• 13:07
  you're
• 13:07
  legit.
• 13:08
  That
• 13:08
  tells
• 13:08
  people
• 13:08
  you're
• 13:09
  spending
• 13:09
  money
• 13:09
  on
• 13:10
  marketing,
• 13:10
  you're
• 13:10
  spending
• 13:11
  money
• 13:11
  on
• 13:11
  your
• 13:11
  business
• 13:12
  and
• 13:12
  you're
• 13:13
  building
• 13:13
  something
• 13:13
  real.
• 13:14
  Not.
• 13:14
  I
• 13:14
  threw
• 13:15
  up

  people
• 14:17
  do

  that.
• 14:18
  And

  nowadays

  of

  these

  are

• 14:36
  They're
• 14:36
  not
• 14:37
  following
• 14:37
  the

• 14:38
  Those

• 14:39
  to
• 14:39

  guys.
• 14:40
  Because
• 14:40
  they
• 14:40
  are
• 14:41
  prevalent
• 14:41
  there.
• 14:42
  Yeah,
• 14:43
  they
• 14:43
  just
• 14:43
  want
• 14:43
  the
• 14:43
  ad
• 14:44
  money.
• 14:44
  They
• 14:44
  ain't
• 14:44
  consent
• 14:45
  Sunday
• 14:46
  ads,
• 14:47
  they're
• 14:47
  just
• 14:47
  jumping
• 14:47
  on
• 14:47
  there.
• 14:47
  You'll
• 14:48
  have
• 14:48
  somebody
• 14:48
  will
• 14:48
  say,
• 14:49
  hey,
• 14:49
  I'm
• 14:49
  looking
• 14:49
  at
• 14:49
  my
• 14:50
  fence
• 14:50
  built,
• 14:50
  or
• 14:51
  I'm
• 14:51
  having
• 14:51
  a
• 14:51
  deck
• 14:51
  rebuild.
• 14:52
  Who
• 14:52
  do
• 14:52
  you
• 14:52
  know?
• 14:52
  And
• 14:53
  then
• 14:53
  somebody
• 14:53
  jumps
• 14:54
  on
• 14:54
  and
• 14:54
  goes,
• 14:55
  I'll
• 14:55
  make
• 14:55
  a
• 14:56
  name
• 14:56
  up.
• 14:56
  Let's
• 14:56
  say
• 14:56
  it's
• 14:57
  Mrs.
• 14:57
  Carlson
• 14:58
  will
• 14:58
  jump
• 14:58
  on
• 14:59
  and
• 14:59
  go,
• 14:59
  oh,
• 14:59
  yeah,
• 15:00
  call
• 15:01
  CNS.
• 15:01
  I'm
• 15:02
  making
• 15:02
  a
• 15:02
  name
• 15:02
  up.
• 15:02
  CNS
• 15:03
  remodeling.
• 15:04
  And
• 15:05
  then
• 15:05
  somebody
• 15:05
  will
• 15:05
  jump
• 15:06
  on
• 15:06
  there.
• 15:06
  Oh,
• 15:06
  I'm
• 15:07
  Mike
• 15:07
  Carlson.
• 15:08
  Yeah.
• 15:08
  From
• 15:08
  CNS
• 15:09
  Remodeling.
• 15:09
  And
• 15:10
  then,
• 15:11
  of
• 15:11
  course,
• 15:11
  you'll
• 15:11
  look
• 15:12
  them
• 15:12
  up.
• 15:12
  They're
• 15:12
  not
• 15:12
  licensed,
• 15:13
  bonded,
• 15:13
  insured.
• 15:13
  And
• 15:14
  if
• 15:14
  you're
• 15:14
  seeing
• 15:14
  us
• 15:15
  remodeling,
• 15:15
  I'm
• 15:15
  not
• 15:15
  talking
• 15:16
  about
• 15:16
  you,
• 15:16
  but
• 15:16
  I'm
• 15:16
  just
• 15:16
  making
• 15:17
  this
• 15:17
  up,
• 15:18
  not
• 15:18
  trying
• 15:18
  to
• 15:18
  dog
• 15:18
  anybody
• 15:19
  out
• 15:19
  there.
• 15:20
  As
• 15:20
  a
• 15:20
  guy
• 15:21
  that's
• 15:21
  built
• 15:21
  several
• 15:22
  businesses,
• 15:23
  those
• 15:23
  are
• 15:24
  the
• 15:24
  leftovers.
• 15:25
  Like,
• 15:25
  that's
• 15:25
  where
• 15:25
  you
• 15:26
  go
• 15:26
  scavenger
• 15:26
  in
• 15:26
  when
• 15:27
  you're
• 15:27
  first
• 15:27
  starting
• 15:27
  out.
• 15:27
  And
• 15:28
  you
• 15:28
  need
• 15:28
  to,
• 15:28
  like,
• 15:28
  basically
• 15:29
  do
• 15:29
  a
• 15:29
  job
• 15:29
  for
• 15:29
  free
• 15:30
  to
• 15:30
  get
• 15:30
  your
• 15:30
  name
• 15:30
  out
• 15:31
  there,
• 15:31
  which
• 15:31
  means
• 15:31
  I've
• 15:31
  got
• 15:32
  no
• 15:32
  experience.
• 15:33
  Otherwise
• 15:33
  I'd
• 15:34
  be
• 15:34
  showing
• 15:34
  it
• 15:34
  off
• 15:34
  and
• 15:34
  getting
• 15:35
  good
• 15:35
  jobs.
• 15:36
  So
• 15:36
  I'm
• 15:36
  on
• 15:36
  those
• 15:37
  boards,
• 15:37
  and
• 15:37
  I'm
• 15:38
  hunting
• 15:38
  down
• 15:38
  people
• 15:38
  that
• 15:39
  I
• 15:39
  need
• 15:39
  a
• 15:39
  WordPress
• 15:40
  site
• 15:40
  built.
• 15:40
  And
• 15:41
  you're
• 15:41
  like,
• 15:41
  oh,
• 15:41
  yeah,
• 15:41
  I'll
• 15:41
  get
• 15:42
  that.
• 15:42
  Yeah.
• 15:42
  Like,
• 15:43
  when
• 15:43
  you're
• 15:43
  first
• 15:43
  cycling
• 15:44
  12
• 15:44
  years
• 15:44
  ago,
• 15:44
  I
• 15:45
  was
• 15:45
  doing
• 15:45
  that.
• 15:45
  I
• 15:45
  was
• 15:45
  searching
• 15:46
  the
• 15:46
  boards,
• 15:46
  going,
• 15:47
  who
• 15:47
  need
• 15:47
  for
• 15:47
  any.
• 15:48
  Who
• 15:48
  needs
• 15:48
  my
• 15:48
  work?
• 15:48
  Yeah.
• 15:49
  And
• 15:49
  get
• 15:49
  my
• 15:49
  foot
• 15:49
  in
• 15:50
  the
• 15:50
  water.
• 15:50
  And
• 15:50
  I
• 15:50
  get
• 15:51
  that.
• 15:51
  It's
• 15:51
  hard
• 15:51
  to
• 15:51
  break
• 15:52
  a
• 15:52
  business
• 15:53
  if
• 15:53
  you
• 15:53
  can
• 15:53
  do
• 15:53
  a
• 15:53
  $200,000
• 15:54
  remodel.
• 15:55
  You
• 15:55
  don't
• 15:55
  want
• 15:55
  that
• 15:56
  guy
• 15:56
  that's
• 15:56
  scavenging
• 15:57
  for
• 15:57
  a
• 15:58
  fence
• 15:58
  job.
• 15:58
  Like,
• 15:59
  don't
• 16:00
  do
• 16:00
  that.
• 16:01
  Absolutely,
• 16:02
  absolutely.
• 16:03
  So
• 16:03
  the
• 16:03
  first
• 16:04
  thing
• 16:04
  is
• 16:04
  understand
• 16:05
  really
• 16:06
  what
• 16:06
  the
• 16:07
  rules
• 16:07
  are
• 16:07
  in
• 16:07
  your
• 16:08
  state,
• 16:08
  in
• 16:09
  your
• 16:09
  region.
• 16:10
  Like
• 16:10
  here,
• 16:10
  where
• 16:11
  I'm
• 16:11
  at,
• 16:11
  where
• 16:12
  Johnny
• 16:12
  was
• 16:12
  at,
• 16:13
  the
• 16:13
  state
• 16:13
  of
• 16:13
  Washington,
• 16:14
  the
• 16:14
  state
• 16:14
  of
• 16:14
  Oregon,
• 16:15
  they
• 16:15
  have
• 16:15
  a
• 16:16
  statewide
• 16:17
  contractor
• 16:17
  licensing
• 16:18
  program,
• 16:19
  which
• 16:19
  is
• 16:19
  great.
• 16:20
  Now,
• 16:21
  the
• 16:21
  big
• 16:21
  thing
• 16:21
  is
• 16:21
  you
• 16:22
  get
• 16:22
  into
• 16:22
  other
• 16:22
  places,
• 16:23
  like
• 16:23
  on
• 16:23
  the
• 16:23
  east
• 16:24
  coast,
• 16:25
  they
• 16:25
  don't
• 16:25
  have
• 16:25
  that.
• 16:26
  It's
• 16:26
  the
• 16:26
  city
• 16:27
  that
• 16:27
  maybe,
• 16:28
  let's
• 16:28
  say
• 16:28
  Philadelphia
• 16:29
  has
• 16:29
  it.
• 16:30
  But
• 16:30
  if
• 16:30
  you're
• 16:30
  the
• 16:30
  next
• 16:30
  town
• 16:31
  over,
• 16:31
  you
• 16:31
  got
• 16:31
  to
• 16:31
  be
• 16:31
  licensed
• 16:32
  with
• 16:32
  them.
• 16:33
  There's
• 16:33
  not
• 16:33
  a
• 16:33
  statewide
• 16:34
  thing,
• 16:34
  so
• 16:34
  that
• 16:34
  could
• 16:34
  be
• 16:35
  a
• 16:35
  little
• 16:35
  bit
• 16:35
  tougher.
• 16:36
  But
• 16:36
  really
• 16:37
  understanding
• 16:37
  what
• 16:38
  the
• 16:38
  rules
• 16:38
  are,
• 16:38
  where
• 16:39
  you
• 16:39
  live
• 16:40
  and
• 16:40
  what's
• 16:40
  required,
• 16:41
  that
• 16:42
  will
• 16:42
  sure
• 16:42
  help
• 16:42
  you
• 16:42
  understand
• 16:43
  what
• 16:43
  you're
• 16:43
  looking
• 16:44
  for.
• 16:44
  Because,
• 16:45
  for
• 16:45
  instance,
• 16:46
  here
• 16:46
  in
• 16:46
  the
• 16:46
  state
• 16:46
  where
• 16:46
  I'm
• 16:47
  in,
• 16:47
  there's
• 16:48
  a
• 16:48
  contract
• 16:49
  has
• 16:49
  to
• 16:49
  be
• 16:49
  an
• 16:49
  approved
• 16:50
  contract
• 16:50
  with
• 16:50
  the
• 16:51
  state,
• 16:51
  has
• 16:51
  to
• 16:52
  have
• 16:52
  these
• 16:52
  things
• 16:52
  in
• 16:53
  it.
• 16:53
  You
• 16:53
  have
• 16:54
  to
• 16:54
  have
• 16:54
  Lead
• 16:54
  paint
• 16:55
  things.
• 16:55
  If
• 16:55
  your
• 16:56
  house
• 16:56
  is
• 16:56
  built
• 16:56
  before
• 16:56
  1970,
• 16:57
  there's
• 16:58
  all
• 16:58
  these
• 16:58
  forms
• 16:59
  and
• 16:59
  paperwork
• 16:59
  that
• 17:00
  should
• 17:00
  be
• 17:00
  there.
• 17:01
  So
• 17:01
  that
• 17:01
  way
• 17:02
  if
• 17:02
  somebody
• 17:02
  comes
• 17:02
  over
• 17:03
  and
• 17:03
  they
• 17:03
  don't
• 17:03
  have
• 17:03
  those,
• 17:04
  that
• 17:04
  should
• 17:04
  be
• 17:04
  a
• 17:04
  warning
• 17:05
  sign
• 17:06
  that
• 17:06
  maybe
• 17:07
  this
• 17:07
  person's
• 17:07
  not
• 17:07
  on
• 17:08
  the
• 17:08
  up
• 17:08
  and
• 17:08
  up.
• 17:09
  And
• 17:09
  I've
• 17:09
  seen
• 17:10
  that
• 17:10
  more
• 17:10
  often
• 17:10
  than
• 17:11
  not
• 17:11
  that
• 17:11
  even
• 17:12
  somebody
• 17:12
  will
• 17:12
  be
• 17:12
  trying
• 17:12
  to
• 17:13
  say,
• 17:13
  oh
• 17:14
  yeah,
• 17:14
  I'm
• 17:15
  this
• 17:15
  contractor.
• 17:16
  But
• 17:16
  they're
• 17:16
  basically
• 17:17
  stealing
• 17:17
  the
• 17:17
  license
• 17:18
  number
• 17:18
  of
• 17:18
  somebody
• 17:19
  else.
• 17:19
  And
• 17:20
  that
• 17:20
  can
• 17:20
  be
• 17:20
  a
• 17:20
  big
• 17:20
  one.
• 17:21
  Yeah,
• 17:21
  we're
• 17:22
  going
• 17:22
  to
• 17:22
  hit
• 17:22
  a
• 17:22
  lot
• 17:22
  of
• 17:22
  points
• 17:22
  here.
• 17:23
  And
• 17:23
  I
• 17:23
  think
• 17:23
  this
• 17:23
  is
• 17:23
  definitely
• 17:24
  something
• 17:24
  we
• 17:24
  make
• 17:24
  a
• 17:25
  list
• 17:25
  out
• 17:25
  of
• 17:26
  to
• 17:26
  be
• 17:26
  able
• 17:27
  to
• 17:27
  provide,
• 17:28
  put
• 17:28
  it
• 17:28
  on
• 17:28
  the
• 17:28
  site,
• 17:29
  I'm
• 17:30
  sorry
• 17:30
  for
• 17:30
  the
• 17:30
  email,
• 17:31
  send
• 17:31
  it
• 17:31
  out
• 17:31
  in
• 17:31
  a
• 17:31
  newsletter,
• 17:32
  that
• 17:32
  kind
• 17:32
  of
• 17:32
  stuff.
• 17:33
  Because
• 17:33
  it's
• 17:33
  just
• 17:33
  bullet
• 17:34
  points.
• 17:34
  They're
• 17:34
  not
• 17:34
  big
• 17:35
  deals.
• 17:35
  It's
• 17:36
  just
• 17:36
  if,
• 17:36
  especially
• 17:37
  if
• 17:37
  it's
• 17:37
  your
• 17:37
  first
• 17:38
  time,
• 17:38
  there's
• 17:38
  going
• 17:38
  to
• 17:38
  be
• 17:38
  things
• 17:39
  you
• 17:39
  didn't
• 17:39
  consider
• 17:40
  absolutely
• 17:41
  budget
• 17:41
  realistic,
• 17:42
  is
• 17:42
  the
• 17:42
  guy
• 17:42
  licensed,
• 17:43
  is
• 17:43
  the
• 17:43
  etc.
• 17:44
  Etc.
• 17:44
  We'll
• 17:45
  hit
• 17:45
  all
• 17:45
  that
• 17:45
  in
• 17:45
  a
• 17:45
  second.
• 17:46
  But
• 17:46
  yeah,
• 17:46
  yeah.
• 17:47
  Speaking
• 17:47
  about
• 17:47
  budget,
• 17:48
  that's
• 17:48
  the
• 17:48
  thing.
• 17:48
  You
• 17:49
  can
• 17:49
  do
• 17:49
  some
• 17:49
  research
• 17:49
  and
• 17:50
  find
• 17:50
  out
• 17:50
  what
• 17:50
  the
• 17:51
  average
• 17:51
  cost
• 17:51
  is
• 17:52
  across
• 17:53
  the
• 17:53
  country.
• 17:53
  So
• 17:53
  you
• 17:53
  have
• 17:54
  an
• 17:54
  idea
• 17:55
  because
• 17:55
  that's
• 17:55
  a
• 17:55
  lot
• 17:55
  of
• 17:55
  the.
• 17:56
  That's
• 17:56
  another
• 17:56
  one
• 17:56
  of
• 17:56
  those
• 17:56
  warning
• 17:57
  signs.
• 17:58
  When
• 17:58
  someone's
• 17:59
  coming
• 17:59
  in
• 17:59
  at
• 17:59
  half
• 17:59
  what
• 18:00
  the
• 18:00
  national
• 18:00
  average
• 18:00
  is.
• 18:01
  There's
• 18:02
  a
• 18:02
  reason.
• 18:02
  There's
• 18:03
  a
• 18:03
  reason.
• 18:03
  Great
• 18:04
  example
• 18:04
  out
• 18:04
  there.
• 18:04
  If
• 18:05
  you're
• 18:05
  going
• 18:05
  to
• 18:05
  take
• 18:05
  a
• 18:06
  bath,
• 18:06
  remodel.
• 18:06
  And
• 18:07
  I'm
• 18:07
  talking
• 18:07
  about
• 18:07
  that
• 18:08
  bath
• 18:09
  remodel
• 18:09
  that's
• 18:10
  in
• 18:10
  the
• 18:10
  hallway.
• 18:10
  It's
• 18:11
  got
• 18:11
  the
• 18:11
  five
• 18:11
  foot
• 18:11
  tub
• 18:12
  at
• 18:12
  the
• 18:12
  end.
• 18:12
  It's
• 18:13
  got
• 18:13
  a
• 18:13
  36
• 18:13
  inch
• 18:14
  vanity,
• 18:15
  the
• 18:15
  toilet
• 18:15
  next
• 18:15
  to
• 18:15
  it.
• 18:16
  You
• 18:16
  walk
• 18:16
  in.
• 18:17
  It's
• 18:17
  the
• 18:17
  typical
• 18:18
  hall
• 18:18
  bathroom
• 18:19
  that
• 18:19
  we
• 18:20
  see
• 18:20
  across
• 18:20
  the
• 18:20
  country.
• 18:21
  The
• 18:22
  average
• 18:22
  right
• 18:22
  here
• 18:22
  in
• 18:23
  2024,
• 18:24
  at
• 18:24
  least
• 18:25
  just
• 18:25
  in
• 18:25
  a
• 18:25
  mid
• 18:25
  range.
• 18:26
  And
• 18:26
  I'm
• 18:26
  talking
• 18:26
  about
• 18:27
  just,
• 18:27
  you
• 18:28
  know,
• 18:28
  laminate
• 18:28
  countertops,
• 18:29
  just
• 18:29
  really
• 18:30
  basic.
• 18:31
  That
• 18:31
  starts
• 18:32
  at
• 18:32
  $25,000.
• 18:33
  Guys,
• 18:34
  I'm
• 18:34
  getting
• 18:34
  back
• 18:35
  in
• 18:35
  the
• 18:35
  business.
• 18:36
  See.
• 18:37
  Yeah.
• 18:38
  And
• 18:38
  so
• 18:39
  when
• 18:39
  you
• 18:39
  look
• 18:39
  at
• 18:40
  that
• 18:40
  and
• 18:40
  I'm
• 18:40
  gonna.
• 18:41
  And
• 18:41
  here's
• 18:41
  the
• 18:41
  thing.
• 18:42
  And
• 18:42
  when
• 18:42
  you
• 18:42
  look
• 18:43
  at
• 18:43
  that,
• 18:43
  okay,
• 18:43
  what's
• 18:44
  a
• 18:44
  mid
• 18:44
  range
• 18:45
  bathroom?
• 18:45
  Up.
• 18:46
  Here's
• 18:46
  the
• 18:46
  rules
• 18:47
  on
• 18:47
  that.
• 18:47
  I'll
• 18:47
  give
• 18:47
  you
• 18:47
  the
• 18:47
  specs.
• 18:48
  That's
• 18:48
  taking
• 18:48
  a
• 18:49

• 18:49

• 18:49

• 18:51
  all
• 18:51
  fixtures
• 18:52
  include
• 18:52

• 18:52

• 18:57

• 18:57

  Tile
• 19:11
  floor
• 19:12
  and
• 19:12
  some
• 19:12
  wallpaper.
• 19:13
  Wow.
• 19:13
  If
• 19:14
  anybody
• 19:14
  out
• 19:14
  there
• 19:14
  needs
• 19:15
  a
• 19:15
  bathroom
• 19:15
  model,
• 19:15
  I'll
• 19:16
  come
• 19:16
  up
• 19:16
  from
• 19:16
  Columbia
• 19:17
  and
• 19:17
  take
• 19:17
  care
• 19:17
  of
• 19:17
  it
• 19:18
  for
• 19:18
  you
• 19:19
  for
• 19:19
  20.
• 19:20
  I
• 19:20
  used
• 19:20
  to
• 19:20
  do
• 19:20
  them
• 19:20
  for
• 19:21
  eight.
• 19:23
  I
• 19:23
  know.
• 19:23
  That
• 19:23
  was
• 19:23
  15
• 19:24
  years
• 19:24
  ago.
• 19:25
  Yeah,
• 19:25
  exactly.
• 19:26
  But
• 19:26
  here's
• 19:26
  the
• 19:27
  one
• 19:27
  thing
• 19:27
  that
• 19:27
  you
• 19:27
  gotta.
• 19:28
  Listen,
• 19:28
  you
• 19:28
  got
• 19:28
  to
• 19:28
  pay
• 19:29
  attention
• 19:29
  to
• 19:29
  this.
• 19:30
  They
• 19:30
  just
• 19:30
  listed
• 19:31
  off.
• 19:31
  What's
• 19:31
  one
• 19:31
  thing
• 19:32
  they
• 19:32
  didn't
• 19:32
  do?
• 19:33
  A
• 19:33
  cabinet.
• 19:34
  Yeah.
• 19:34
  They
• 19:35
  didn't
• 19:35
  list
• 19:35
  a
• 19:35
  cabinet
• 19:36
  there.
• 19:36
  So
• 19:36
  that's
• 19:36
  reusing
• 19:37
  the
• 19:37
  old
• 19:37
  cabinet.
• 19:39
  Yeah,
• 19:39
  Just
• 19:39
  swapping
• 19:40
  the
• 19:40
  tub.
• 19:40
  And
• 19:41
  what
• 19:41
  used
• 19:41
  to
• 19:41
  be
• 19:41
  a
• 19:42
  hundred
• 19:42
  dollar
• 19:42
  tub
• 19:42
  is
• 19:42
  now
• 19:43
  a
• 19:43
  300,
• 19:44
  but
• 19:44
  that's
• 19:44
  swapping
• 19:44
  the
• 19:45
  top.
• 19:46
  So
• 19:47
  20.
• 19:48
  That's
• 19:48
  on
• 19:48
  average
• 19:49
  across
• 19:50
  the
• 19:50
  country.
• 19:51
  Yeah.
• 19:51
  So
• 19:51
  the
• 19:52
  guy
• 19:52
  comes
• 19:52
  in
• 19:52
  and
• 19:52
  says
• 19:52
  he
• 19:52
  can
• 19:53
  do
• 19:53
  it
• 19:53
  for
• 19:53
  10.
• 19:53
  He's
• 19:54
  not.
• 19:55
  Yeah,
• 19:55
  you
• 19:55
  got
• 19:55
  a
• 19:56
  problem,
• 19:56
  he's
• 19:56
  gonna
• 19:57
  tell
• 19:57
  you
• 19:57
  10.
• 19:57
  And
• 19:57
  that
• 19:58
  means
• 19:58
  it's
• 19:58
  gonna
• 19:58
  go
• 19:58
  up
• 19:58
  2
• 19:59
  grand
• 19:59
  a
• 19:59
  day
• 19:59
  for
• 19:59
  the
• 20:00
  next
• 20:00
  10
• 20:00
  days.
• 20:01
  Yeah.
• 20:02
  Now
• 20:02
  here's
• 20:02
  the
• 20:02
  thing.
• 20:03
  Let's
• 20:03
  say
• 20:03
  you
• 20:03
  want
• 20:03
  to
• 20:04
  do
• 20:04
  an
• 20:04
  upscale
• 20:04
  one.
• 20:05
  Let's
• 20:05
  say
• 20:06
  you
• 20:06
  want.
• 20:06
  I
• 20:06
  want
• 20:07
  something
• 20:08
  nice
• 20:08
  to
• 20:08
  like
• 20:08
  100
• 20:09
  square
• 20:09
  feet.
• 20:10
  Right.
• 20:10
  Something
• 20:11
  a
• 20:11
  little
• 20:11
  bigger.
• 20:12
  When
• 20:12
  you
• 20:12
  gut
• 20:13
  that.
• 20:13
  I'm
• 20:13
  not
• 20:13
  going
• 20:13
  to
• 20:13
  go
• 20:14
  into
• 20:14
  the
• 20:14
  details
• 20:14
  on
• 20:14
  this
• 20:15
  because
• 20:15
  we
• 20:15
  do
• 20:15
  that
• 20:15
  with
• 20:15
  our
• 20:16
  cost
• 20:16
  versus
• 20:16
  value
• 20:17
  report
• 20:17
  episode
• 20:18
  when
• 20:18
  we
• 20:18
  do
• 20:18
  it.
• 20:18
  But
• 20:19
  this
• 20:19
  100
• 20:19
  square
• 20:20
  foot
• 20:20
  basically
• 20:21
  gut
• 20:22
  to
• 20:22
  the
• 20:22
  studs
• 20:22
  kind
• 20:23
  of
• 20:23
  project
• 20:23
  like
• 20:23
  a
• 20:24
  typical
• 20:24
  one.
• 20:25
  A
• 20:25
  new
• 20:25
  angle
• 20:26
  shower,
• 20:27
  all
• 20:27
  that
• 20:27
  stuff.
• 20:28
  Maybe
• 20:28
  electric
• 20:29
  and
• 20:29
  floor
• 20:29
  heating,
• 20:30
  new
• 20:30
  cabinetry.
• 20:32
  That
• 20:32
  cost
• 20:33
  now
• 20:33
  average
• 20:34
  across
• 20:34
  the
• 20:35
  U.S.
• 20:35
  and
• 20:36
  this
• 20:36
  is
• 20:36
  crazy.
• 20:37
  78,000.
• 20:37
  Almost
• 20:38
  $79,000.
• 20:39
  You've
• 20:40
  got
• 20:40
  to
• 20:40
  be.
• 20:41
  Dude.
• 20:41
  I'm
• 20:42
  seriously
• 20:42
  considering
• 20:43
  coming
• 20:43
  back
• 20:43
  up
• 20:43
  there
• 20:44
  and
• 20:44
  starting
• 20:45

• 20:46

• 20:46

• 20:47
  We'll
• 20:47
  do
• 20:47
  that
• 20:47
  just
• 20:48
  as
• 20:48
  soon
• 20:48
  as

  doesn't

• 22:36
  I
• 22:36
  got
• 22:36
  Johnny
• 22:36
  Dudley
• 22:37
  here
• 22:37
  from
• 22:37
  side
• 22:37
  Up
• 22:37
  Designs,
• 22:38
  contractor
• 22:39
  that
• 22:39
  I
• 22:40
  used
• 22:40
  to
• 22:40
  work
• 22:40
  with
• 22:40
  years
• 22:41
  ago
• 22:42
  and
• 22:42
  we've
• 22:42
  been
• 22:43
  talking
• 22:43
  about
• 22:43
  trying
• 22:43
  to
• 22:43
  hire
• 22:44
  that
• 22:44
  contractor
• 22:44
  and
• 22:45
  find
• 22:45
  the
• 22:45
  right
• 22:46
  ones.
• 22:46
  And
• 22:47
  we
• 22:47
  were
• 22:47
  talking
• 22:48
  about
• 22:48
  some
• 22:48
  project
• 22:48
  costs
• 22:49
  really
• 22:49
  to
• 22:50
  make
• 22:51
  sure
• 22:51
  that
• 22:51
  you
• 22:51
  understand
• 22:52
  going
• 22:52
  in
• 22:52
  what's
• 22:52
  a
• 22:52
  good
• 22:53
  bid
• 22:53
  and
• 22:53
  what's
• 22:53
  not.
• 22:53
  Because
• 22:54
  so
• 22:54
  many
• 22:54
  times
• 22:54
  people
• 22:55
  get
• 22:55
  a
• 22:55
  number
• 22:55
  and
• 22:56
  go,
• 22:56
  that's
• 22:56
  half
• 22:57
  the
• 22:57
  price
• 22:57
  of
• 22:57
  everybody
• 22:58
  else.
• 22:58
  And
• 22:58
  I'm
• 22:58
  going
• 22:58
  to
• 22:58
  go
• 22:58
  with
• 22:58
  the
• 22:59
  low
• 22:59
  bid.
• 23:00
  And
• 23:00
  as
• 23:00
  Johnny
• 23:00
  that's
• 23:01
  usually
• 23:01
  the
• 23:01
  most
• 23:02
  expensive
• 23:02
  way
• 23:03
  to
• 23:03
  do
• 23:03
  that.
• 23:04
  Get
• 23:04
  what
• 23:04
  you
• 23:04
  pay
• 23:04
  for
• 23:05
  still
• 23:05
  holds
• 23:05
  true
• 23:06
  99%
• 23:07
  of
• 23:07
  the
• 23:07
  time.
• 23:07
  Man,
• 23:08
  what's
• 23:08
  this
• 23:09
  reality?
• 23:10
  Absolutely.
• 23:10
  One
• 23:11
  last
• 23:11
  number
• 23:11
  here
• 23:12
  before
• 23:12
  we
• 23:12
  get
• 23:13
  into
• 23:13
  the
• 23:13
  hiring
• 23:14
  secrets
• 23:14
  that
• 23:14
  I
• 23:14
  have
• 23:15
  to
• 23:15
  take
• 23:16
  a
• 23:16
  200
• 23:16
  square
• 23:17
  foot
• 23:17
  kitchen
• 23:17
  with
• 23:18
  functional
• 23:18
  layout
• 23:18
  of
• 23:19
  30ft
• 23:20
  of
• 23:20
  semi
• 23:20
  custom
• 23:20

• 23:21
  cabinets,
• 23:21
  3
• 23:22

• 23:22
  5
• 23:22

• 23:22

• 23:23
  laminate
• 23:24
  countertops,
• 23:25
  standard
• 23:26
  double
• 23:26
  bowl,
• 23:26
  stainless
• 23:27
  sink,
• 23:27
  signal
• 23:28
  over
• 23:28
  faucer
• 23:29
  range
• 23:30
  vent
• 23:30
  hood
• 23:30
  basics,
• 23:32
  vinyl
• 23:32
  flooring,
• 23:33
  a
• 23:33
  little
• 23:34
  trim,
• 23:34
  that
• 23:34
  kind
• 23:34
  of
• 23:35
  stuff.
• 23:36
  The
• 23:36
  average
• 23:37
  cost
• 23:38
  on
• 23:38
  that
• 23:38
  kitchen
• 23:38
  model
• 23:39
  across
• 23:39
  the
• 23:39
  US
• 23:40
  is
• 23:40
  $80,000
• 23:42
  with
• 23:42
  laminate
• 23:43
  countertops.
• 23:43
  Now
• 23:44
  if
• 23:44
  you
• 23:44
  wanted
• 23:44
  those
• 23:44
  quartz
• 23:45
  and
• 23:45
  you
• 23:45
  wanted
• 23:45
  the
• 23:45
  tie.
• 23:46
  Yeah.
• 23:46
  And
• 23:46
  vinyl
• 23:47
  flooring.
• 23:48
  Yeah.
• 23:48
  Okay,
• 23:49
  so
• 23:49
  I
• 23:50
  lived
• 23:50
  in
• 23:50
  an
• 23:50
  apartment
• 23:50
  like
• 23:51
  that
• 23:51
  once.
• 23:52
  No
• 23:52
  kidding.
• 23:53
  So
• 23:54
  really
• 23:54
  guys,
• 23:54
  this
• 23:54
  is
• 23:54
  what
• 23:55
  I'm
• 23:55
  worried
• 23:55
  about
• 23:55
  is
• 23:55
  just
• 23:56
  understanding
• 23:56
  what
• 23:56
  the
• 23:57
  costs
• 23:57
  are
• 23:57
  first.
• 23:58
  But
• 23:58
  one
• 23:58
  way
• 23:58
  to
• 23:58
  do
• 23:59
  that
• 23:59
  is
• 23:59
  that's
• 23:59
  just
• 24:00
  Google
• 24:00
  up
• 24:00
  cost
• 24:01
  versus
• 24:01
  value
• 24:01
  report.
• 24:02
  That's
• 24:02
  where
• 24:02
  you
• 24:02
  can
• 24:02
  find
• 24:02
  it.
• 24:03
  It's
• 24:03
  out
• 24:03
  there.
• 24:04
  You
• 24:04
  can
• 24:04
  find
• 24:04
  it
• 24:04
  for
• 24:05
  your
• 24:05
  area.
• 24:05
  There's
• 24:06
  a
• 24:06
  couple
• 24:06
  hundred
• 24:07
  markets
• 24:07
  across
• 24:07
  the
• 24:08
  US
• 24:08
  where
• 24:08
  they've
• 24:08
  got
• 24:08
  it,
• 24:09
  where
• 24:09
  they
• 24:09
  can
• 24:09
  tell
• 24:09
  you
• 24:09
  what
• 24:09
  the
• 24:09
  prices
• 24:10
  are
• 24:10
  in
• 24:10
  your
• 24:10
  area
• 24:11
  to
• 24:11
  give
• 24:11
  you
• 24:11
  a
• 24:11
  rough
• 24:12
  idea.
• 24:13
  And
• 24:13
  they've
• 24:13
  been
• 24:14
  doing
• 24:14
  that
• 24:14
  every
• 24:14
  year.
• 24:14
  They
• 24:15
  just
• 24:15
  got
• 24:15
  bought
• 24:15
  out
• 24:15
  last
• 24:16
  year.
• 24:16
  So
• 24:16
  that's
• 24:16
  the
• 24:16
  2024
• 24:17
  version.
• 24:18
  And
• 24:18
  unfortunately
• 24:19
  I'm
• 24:19
  going
• 24:19
  to
• 24:19
  say
• 24:19
  that
• 24:20
  remodeling
• 24:21
  never
• 24:21
  gets
• 24:21
  cheaper.
• 24:21
  So
• 24:21
  those
• 24:22
  numbers
• 24:22
  have
• 24:22
  probably
• 24:22
  gone
• 24:23
  up
• 24:23
  for
• 24:23
  2025
• 24:24
  and
• 24:24
  into
• 24:25
  2026.
• 24:26
  Note
• 24:27
  it's
• 24:27
  crazy.
• 24:27
  Add
• 24:28
  that
• 24:28
  link
• 24:28
  to
• 24:29
  the
• 24:29
  list.
• 24:29
  Yeah,
• 24:30
  we'll
• 24:30
  put
• 24:30
  it
• 24:30
  on
• 24:30
  there.
• 24:31
  We'll
• 24:31
  put
• 24:31
  it
• 24:31
  on
• 24:31
  there
• 24:31
  now
• 24:32
  guys.
• 24:32
  You
• 24:32
  know,
• 24:32
  and
• 24:33
  some
• 24:33
  of
• 24:33
  that
• 24:33
  is
• 24:33
  just
• 24:33
  some
• 24:34
  of
• 24:34
  our
• 24:34
  building
• 24:34
  material
• 24:35
  prices
• 24:35
  out
• 24:35
  there.
• 24:36
  She
• 24:36
  rock.
• 24:36
  Last
• 24:37
  time
• 24:37
  I
• 24:37
  looked
• 24:37
  last
• 24:38
  week
• 24:38
  is
• 24:38
  almost
• 24:38
  20
• 24:39
  bucks
• 24:39
  a
• 24:39
  sheet.
• 24:40
  It's
• 24:40
  just
• 24:40
  crazy
• 24:41
  because
• 24:41
  that
• 24:41
  stuff's
• 24:41
  coming
• 24:42
  out
• 24:42
  of
• 24:42
  Mexico
• 24:42
  or
• 24:42
  at
• 24:43
  least
• 24:43
  the
• 24:43
  gypsum
• 24:43
  is.
• 24:44
  So
• 24:45
  that's
• 24:45
  a
• 24:45
  little
• 24:45
  expensive
• 24:46
  right
• 24:46
  now.
• 24:47
  So
• 24:47
  really
• 24:48
  educate
• 24:48
  yourself
• 24:49
  first
• 24:49
  on
• 24:49
  the
• 24:49
  project,
• 24:50
  what
• 24:50
  you're
• 24:50
  going
• 24:51
  to
• 24:51
  do.
• 24:51
  But
• 24:52
  here's
• 24:52
  the
• 24:52
  thing
• 24:52
  I
• 24:52
  want
• 24:53
  you
• 24:53
  to
• 24:53
  look
• 24:53
  for
• 24:53
  and
• 24:53
  this
• 24:53
  is
• 24:54
  some
• 24:54
  of
• 24:54
  the
• 24:54
  stuff
• 24:54
  that
• 24:54
  we've
• 24:55
  had
• 24:55
  and
• 24:55
  that
• 24:55
  I've
• 24:55
  learned
• 24:56
  over
• 24:56
  the
• 24:56
  years
• 24:56
  is
• 24:56
  first
• 24:57
  off,
• 24:58
  talk
• 24:58
  to
• 24:58
  them,
• 24:59
  have
• 24:59
  them
• 24:59
  come
• 24:59
  out
• 25:00
  and
• 25:00
  give
• 25:00
  you
• 25:00
  an
• 25:00
  estimate.
• 25:01
  Now,
• 25:02
  I
• 25:02
  have
• 25:02
  a
• 25:02
  thing
• 25:03
  that
• 25:03
  I've
• 25:03
  been
• 25:03
  talking
• 25:03
  about
• 25:04
  for
• 25:04
  the
• 25:04
  last
• 25:04
  couple
• 25:04
  years
• 25:05
  as
• 25:05
  well.
• 25:06
  If
• 25:06
  you
• 25:06
  want
• 25:06
  a
• 25:07
  detailed
• 25:07
  estimate,
• 25:08
  I
• 25:08
  have
• 25:08
  no
• 25:09
  problem
• 25:10
  with
• 25:10
  that
• 25:10
  contractor
• 25:11
  charging
• 25:12
  you
• 25:12
  a
• 25:12
  few
• 25:13
  hundred
• 25:13
  bucks
• 25:14
  to
• 25:14
  give
• 25:14
  you
• 25:14
  a
• 25:15
  line
• 25:15
  item
• 25:15
  estimate.
• 25:17
  And
• 25:17
  I'm
• 25:18
  not
• 25:18
  a
• 25:18
  big
• 25:18
  fan
• 25:19
  of
• 25:19
  the
• 25:19
  free
• 25:19
  estimates
• 25:19
  anymore.
• 25:20
  I'm
• 25:20
  not
• 25:20
  asking
• 25:21
  the
• 25:21
  contractor
• 25:21
  to
• 25:21
  go
• 25:22
  spend
• 25:22
  eight
• 25:22
  hours
• 25:22
  of
• 25:23
  their
• 25:23
  day
• 25:23
  putting
• 25:23
  together
• 25:24
  a
• 25:24
  detailed
• 25:24
  estimate
• 25:25
  for
• 25:25
  your
• 25:25
  detailed
• 25:26
  project
• 25:26
  for
• 25:27
  free.
• 25:27
  If
• 25:28
  they
• 25:28
  want
• 25:28
  to
• 25:28
  come
• 25:28
  in
• 25:28
  and
• 25:29
  go,
• 25:29
  ah,
• 25:29
  this
• 25:29
  is
• 25:29
  going
• 25:29
  to
• 25:30
  be
• 25:30
  80
• 25:30
  to
• 25:30
  90
• 25:31
  grand
• 25:31
  for
• 25:31
  this
• 25:31
  project,
• 25:32
  depending
• 25:32
  on
• 25:32
  what
• 25:33
  you
• 25:33
  do.
• 25:33
  You
• 25:34
  got
• 25:34
  a
• 25:34
  budget.
• 25:35
  If
• 25:35
  you
• 25:35
  want
• 25:35
  it
• 25:35
  to
• 25:36
  be,
• 25:36
  it's
• 25:36
  going
• 25:36
  to
• 25:36
  be
• 25:36
  $92,000.
• 25:38
  You're
• 25:38
  going
• 25:38
  to
• 25:38
  have
• 25:38
  to
• 25:38
  probably
• 25:39
  pay
• 25:39
  a
• 25:39
  few
• 25:39
  hundred
• 25:40
  bucks
• 25:41
  for
• 25:41
  them
• 25:41
  to
• 25:41
  do
• 25:41
  that
• 25:41
  bid.
• 25:42
  Now,
• 25:43
  most
• 25:43
  of
• 25:43
  the
• 25:43
  guys
• 25:43
  that
• 25:43
  do
• 25:44
  that,
• 25:44
  generally
• 25:45
  speaking,
• 25:45
  they'll
• 25:45
  give
• 25:46
  that
• 25:46
  money
• 25:46
  off
• 25:46
  the
• 25:47
  project
• 25:47
  if
• 25:47
  you
• 25:47
  go
• 25:48
  with
• 25:48
  them.
• 25:48
  So
• 25:49
  I
• 25:49
  don't
• 25:50
  have
• 25:50
  a
• 25:50
  problem
• 25:50
  with
• 25:50
  that.
• 25:51
  That
• 25:51
  way
• 25:51
  you
• 25:51
  can
• 25:52
  work
• 25:52
  through
• 25:52
  that
• 25:52
  process.
• 25:53
  But
• 25:53
  really
• 25:53
  making
• 25:54
  sure
• 25:54
  that
• 25:54
  they're
• 25:54
  licensed,
• 25:55
  bonded,
• 25:55
  insured,
• 25:56
  and
• 25:57
  it's
• 25:57
  easy.
• 25:58
  Check
• 25:58
  and
• 25:58
  see.
• 25:59
  Like
• 25:59
  in
• 25:59
  my
• 26:00
  state,
• 26:00
  it's
• 26:00
  awesome.
• 26:01
  If
• 26:01
  you're
• 26:01
  an
• 26:02
  Oregon
• 26:02
  resident,
• 26:03
  they
• 26:03
  made
• 26:03
  it
• 26:03
  easy.
• 26:03
  I
• 26:04
  can
• 26:04
  call
• 26:04
  the
• 26:04
  Oregon
• 26:05
  Construction
• 26:05
  Contractors
• 26:06
  Board.
• 26:07
  They
• 26:07
  answer
• 26:07
  the
• 26:08
  phone
• 26:08
  and
• 26:09
  I
• 26:09
  can
• 26:09
  say,
• 26:09
  hey,
• 26:10
  I'm
• 26:10
  looking
• 26:10
  up
• 26:10
  John
• 26:10
  Dudley
• 26:11
  at
• 26:11
  ASM
• 26:12
  Construction
• 26:12
  over
• 26:12
  here.
• 26:13
  What
• 26:13
  do
• 26:14
  they
• 26:14
  tell
• 26:14
  you?
• 26:15
  And
• 26:15
  they'll
• 26:16
  go
• 26:16
  through
• 26:16
  and
• 26:16
  they'll
• 26:17
  tell
• 26:17
  you
• 26:17
  exactly,
• 26:18
  John.
• 26:19
  It
• 26:19
  was
• 26:19
  never
• 26:19
  licensed
• 26:19
  in
• 26:20
  Oregon,
• 26:20
  so
• 26:20
  he
• 26:21
  wouldn't
• 26:21
  have
• 26:21
  showed
• 26:21
  up.
• 26:22
  Yeah,
• 26:23
  but
• 26:24
  that's
• 26:24
  the
• 26:24
  thing.
• 26:24
  They're
• 26:24
  going
• 26:25
  to
• 26:25
  go
• 26:25
  through
• 26:25
  and
• 26:25
  say,
• 26:25
  hey,
• 26:26
  wow,
• 26:26
  this
• 26:26
  person's
• 26:27
  been
• 26:27
  in
• 26:27
  business
• 26:27
  for
• 26:28
  35
• 26:28
  years.
• 26:29
  They've
• 26:29
  had
• 26:29
  two
• 26:29
  complaints.
• 26:30
  That's
• 26:31
  pretty
• 26:31
  good.
• 26:31
  Because
• 26:32
  people
• 26:32
  like
• 26:32
  to
• 26:33
  complain
• 26:34
  just
• 26:34
  because
• 26:34
  they
• 26:34
  have
• 26:35
  one
• 26:35
  or
• 26:35
  two
• 26:35
  complaints
• 26:35
  out
• 26:36
  there.
• 26:36
  It's
• 26:36
  not
• 26:36
  about
• 26:36
  the
• 26:36
  complaints,
• 26:37
  about
• 26:37
  how
• 26:37
  they
• 26:37
  handle
• 26:38
  them.
• 26:38
  That's
• 26:39
  the
• 26:39
  thing.
• 26:40
  And
• 26:40
  that's
• 26:41
  what
• 26:41
  happens.
• 26:41
  And
• 26:42
  so
• 26:42
  doing
• 26:42
  that
• 26:42
  research,
• 26:43
  because
• 26:43
  here's
• 26:43
  what
• 26:43
  happens,
• 26:44
  if
• 26:44
  you're
• 26:44
  actually
• 26:45
  out
• 26:45
  there
• 26:45
  and
• 26:45
  you
• 26:46
  hire
• 26:46
  somebody
• 26:47
  that's
• 26:47
  not
• 26:47
  licensed,
• 26:47
  bond
• 26:48
  insured,
• 26:48
  and
• 26:49
  they're
• 26:49
  coming
• 26:49
  up
• 26:49
  to
• 26:49
  do
• 26:50
  your
• 26:50
  roof,
• 26:51
  you
• 26:51
  are
• 26:51
  now
• 26:52
  their
• 26:52
  employer,
• 26:52
  Johnny.
• 26:53
  So
• 26:53
  you're
• 26:53
  paying
• 26:53
  for
• 26:53
  them.
• 26:54
  You're
• 26:54
  paying
• 26:55
  them.
• 26:55
  Guess
• 26:55
  what?
• 26:56
  If
• 26:56
  they
• 26:56
  fall
• 26:56
  off
• 26:56
  that
• 26:56
  ladder,
• 26:57
  they
• 26:57
  break
• 26:57
  their
• 26:58
  leg
• 26:58
  or
• 26:58
  worse.
• 26:59
  That's
• 26:59
  your
• 27:00
  medical
• 27:00
  bill,
• 27:00
  not
• 27:01
  theirs.
• 27:01
  Because
• 27:02
  you're
• 27:02
  now
• 27:02
  the
• 27:02
  employer.
• 27:03
  So
• 27:03
  they
• 27:03
  can
• 27:03
  go
• 27:03
  after
• 27:04
  you,
• 27:04
  the
• 27:05
  homeowner.
• 27:06
  For
• 27:06
  them
• 27:06
  getting
• 27:06
  hurt,
• 27:07
  that
• 27:08
  can
• 27:08
  be
• 27:08
  a
• 27:08
  problem
• 27:09
  and
• 27:09
  can
• 27:10
  get
• 27:10
  really
• 27:10
  expensive.
• 27:11
  That
• 27:11
  can
• 27:12
  be
• 27:12
  a
• 27:12
  problem.
• 27:13
  So
• 27:13
  one
• 27:13
  of
• 27:13
  the
• 27:14
  things
• 27:14
  also
• 27:14
  that
• 27:15
  I
• 27:15
  like
• 27:15
  too,
• 27:16
  and
• 27:16
  this
• 27:16
  is
• 27:16
  one
• 27:16
  thing
• 27:17
  and
• 27:17
  Again,
• 27:17
  I
• 27:17
  want
• 27:17
  to
• 27:17
  get
• 27:17
  your
• 27:18
  take
• 27:18
  on
• 27:18
  this,
• 27:18
  Johnny,
• 27:19
  and
• 27:19
  we
• 27:19
  got
• 27:19
  a
• 27:19
  little
• 27:20
  time
• 27:20
  to
• 27:20
  do
• 27:20
  it
• 27:20
  here
• 27:20
  in
• 27:20
  this
• 27:21
  segment.
• 27:21
  But
• 27:22
  homeowners,
• 27:23
  when
• 27:23
  we
• 27:23
  have
• 27:23
  a
• 27:23
  shortage
• 27:24
  of
• 27:24
  trades
• 27:25
  out
• 27:25
  there,
• 27:26
  are
• 27:26
  at
• 27:26
  a
• 27:26
  severe
• 27:27
  disadvantage
• 27:28
  trying
• 27:28
  to
• 27:28
  general
• 27:29
  contract
• 27:29
  their
• 27:30
  own
• 27:30
  project
• 27:31
  for
• 27:31
  sure.
• 27:32
  Because
• 27:33
  what
• 27:33
  happens
• 27:33
  is,
• 27:34
  like,
• 27:34
  when
• 27:35
  Johnny
• 27:36
  was
• 27:36
  doing
• 27:36
  his
• 27:36
  general
• 27:37
  contracting,
• 27:38
  he
• 27:38
  had
• 27:38
  his
• 27:39
  trades
• 27:39
  that
• 27:39
  he
• 27:39
  worked
• 27:40
  with
• 27:40
  that
• 27:41
  were
• 27:41
  loyal
• 27:41
  to
• 27:41
  him.
• 27:42
  If
• 27:43
  you
• 27:43
  called
• 27:43
  up
• 27:44
  as
• 27:44
  a
• 27:44
  homeowner
• 27:45
  and
• 27:46
  wanted
• 27:46
  one
• 27:46
  of
• 27:46
  those
• 27:46
  people
• 27:47
  to
• 27:47
  come
• 27:48
  work,
• 27:48
  have
• 27:48
  you,
• 27:48
  hey,
• 27:49
  can
• 27:49
  you
• 27:49
  come
• 27:49
  work
• 27:49
  to
• 27:50
  his
• 27:50
  electrician?
• 27:50
  Hey,
• 27:51
  come
• 27:51
  work
• 27:51
  on
• 27:51
  my
• 27:51
  project.
• 27:52
  As
• 27:53
  a
• 27:53
  homeowner,
• 27:54
  you're
• 27:54
  a
• 27:54
  one
• 27:54
  time
• 27:55
  and
• 27:55
  done.
• 27:56
  So
• 27:56
  you
• 27:56
  are
• 27:56
  the
• 27:57
  lowest
• 27:57
  generally
• 27:58
  on
• 27:58
  the
• 27:58
  list.
• 27:59
  Because
• 27:59
  what
• 28:00
  happens
• 28:00
  is
• 28:00
  the
• 28:00
  contractors,
• 28:01
  that
• 28:01
  they
• 28:01
  are
• 28:02
  their
• 28:02
  big
• 28:02
  meat
• 28:03
  potatoes,
• 28:03
  if
• 28:04
  they
• 28:04
  call
• 28:04
  up
• 28:04
  and
• 28:04
  go,
• 28:04
  hey,
• 28:05
  man,
• 28:05
  I
• 28:05
  need
• 28:05
  you
• 28:05
  tomorrow
• 28:06
  morning
• 28:06
  at
• 28:06
  this
• 28:06
  job
• 28:06
  site
• 28:07
  because
• 28:07
  something
• 28:07
  went
• 28:07
  sideways,
• 28:08
  you're
• 28:09
  the
• 28:09
  one
• 28:09
  that
• 28:09
  doesn't
• 28:09
  have
• 28:10
  the
• 28:10
  guy
• 28:10
  show
• 28:10
  up
• 28:10
  in
• 28:10
  the
• 28:10
  morning.
• 28:11
  He's
• 28:12
  gonna
• 28:12
  go,
• 28:12
  she's
• 28:13
  gonna
• 28:13
  go
• 28:13
  over
• 28:13
  to
• 28:13
  the
• 28:13
  conch,
• 28:14
  to
• 28:14
  the
• 28:14
  project
• 28:15
  that
• 28:15
  pays
• 28:16
  them,
• 28:16
  you
• 28:16
  know,
• 28:16
  the
• 28:17
  weekly
• 28:18
  dollars.
• 28:19
  So
• 28:19
  it's
• 28:20
  really
• 28:20
  tough.
• 28:21
  Like,
• 28:22
  you
• 28:22
  really
• 28:22
  become
• 28:22
  a
• 28:23
  team.
• 28:23
  Like,
• 28:23
  I
• 28:23
  was
• 28:24
  tight
• 28:24
  with.
• 28:25
  I
• 28:26
  mean,
• 28:26
  we're
• 28:26
  a
• 28:26
  family
• 28:26
  with
• 28:27
  all
• 28:27
  my
• 28:27
  subs,
• 28:28
  the
• 28:28
  drywall
• 28:28
  guys,
• 28:29
  the
• 28:29
  plumbers,
• 28:29
  the
• 28:30
  electricians,
• 28:30
  like,
• 28:31
  you
• 28:31
  remember
• 28:31
  Paul
• 28:32
  Larkin.
• 28:33
  Yeah.
• 28:33
  All
• 28:33
  those
• 28:34
  guys,
• 28:34
  man,
• 28:35
  we
• 28:35
  were
• 28:35
  tight
• 28:35
  and
• 28:36
  we
• 28:36
  all
• 28:36
  worked
• 28:36
  well
• 28:36
  together
• 28:37
  and
• 28:37
  we
• 28:37
  didn't
• 28:37
  step
• 28:37
  on
• 28:38
  each
• 28:38
  other's
• 28:38
  toes.
• 28:38
  And
• 28:39
  having
• 28:39
  a
• 28:40
  general
• 28:40
  contractor
• 28:40
  that
• 28:41
  brings
• 28:41
  that
• 28:41
  kind
• 28:42
  of
• 28:42
  team
• 28:43
  to
• 28:43
  your
• 28:44
  project
• 28:44
  is
• 28:45
  invaluable
• 28:46
  because
• 28:46
  they've
• 28:47
  done
• 28:47
  it
• 28:47
  50
• 28:48
  times
• 28:48
  before
• 28:49
  together
• 28:50
  as
• 28:50
  a
• 28:50
  team.
• 28:51
  They
• 28:51
  know
• 28:52
  that
• 28:52
  the
• 28:52
  electrician
• 28:53
  is
• 28:53
  going
• 28:53
  to
• 28:53
  do
• 28:53
  this
• 28:54
  way
• 28:54
  just
• 28:54
  like
• 28:54
  he
• 28:54
  did
• 28:55
  the
• 28:55
  last
• 28:55
  50
• 28:55
  times,
• 28:56
  which
• 28:56
  lets
• 28:57
  the
• 28:57
  drywaller
• 28:57
  know
• 28:58
  not
• 28:58
  to
• 28:58
  cover
• 28:59
  that
• 28:59
  yet,
• 28:59
  because
• 28:59
  there's
• 29:00
  an
• 29:00
  X
• 29:00
  mark
• 29:00
  there,
• 29:01
  which
• 29:01
  lets
• 29:02
  the
• 29:02
  floor
• 29:02
  guy
• 29:03
  know.
• 29:03
  Don't
• 29:04
  run
• 29:04
  the
• 29:04
  floor
• 29:04
  all
• 29:05
  the
• 29:05
  way
• 29:05
  to
• 29:05
  the
• 29:05
  edge.
• 29:05
  It's
• 29:06
  silly
• 29:06
  things
• 29:06
  that
• 29:07
  if
• 29:08
  you're
• 29:08
  not
• 29:08
  in
• 29:08
  the
• 29:08
  know
• 29:08
  and
• 29:09
  you
• 29:09
  don't
• 29:09
  do
• 29:09
  that
• 29:09
  stuff
• 29:09
  every
• 29:10
  day,
• 29:10
  is
• 29:11
  it
• 29:11
  can't
• 29:11
  be
• 29:11
  faulted
• 29:12
  for
• 29:12
  it.
• 29:12
  But
• 29:13
  you
• 29:13
  got
• 29:13
  to
• 29:13
  put
• 29:14
  some
• 29:14
  trust
• 29:14
  into
• 29:15
  whoever
• 29:15
  you
• 29:15
  decide.
• 29:16
  And
• 29:16
  to
• 29:17
  speak
• 29:17
  to
• 29:17
  that,
• 29:18
  like,
• 29:18
  for
• 29:18
  me,
• 29:18
  I
• 29:18
  want
• 29:19
  to
• 29:19
  say
• 29:19
  one
• 29:20
  thing
• 29:21
  I
• 29:21
  think
• 29:21
  is
• 29:22
  maybe
• 29:23
  the
• 29:23
  most
• 29:23
  important,
• 29:24
  obviously
• 29:24
  skill,
• 29:25
  and
• 29:25
  especially
• 29:25
  if
• 29:26
  you're
• 29:26
  doing
• 29:26
  something
• 29:26
  super
• 29:27
  specific
• 29:27
  that
• 29:28
  requires
• 29:28
  specialized
• 29:29
  skills,
• 29:29
  like,
• 29:30
  you
• 29:30
  probably
• 29:30
  want
• 29:30
  to
• 29:30
  get
• 29:31
  really
• 29:31
  good
• 29:32
  at
• 29:32
  that.
• 29:33
  But
• 29:33
  if
• 29:33
  you're
• 29:34
  doing
• 29:34
  a
• 29:34
  bigger
• 29:34
  project
• 29:35
  and
• 29:35
  it's
• 29:35
  not
• 29:35
  just
• 29:35
  one
• 29:36
  thing,
• 29:36
  it's
• 29:36
  not
• 29:36
  just
• 29:37
  tile,
• 29:37
  it's
• 29:37
  not
• 29:37
  just
• 29:38
  a
• 29:38
  fence,
• 29:39
  you'll
• 29:39
  have
• 29:39
  a
• 29:39
  general
• 29:40
  contractor
• 29:40
  that
• 29:40
  has
• 29:41
  good
• 29:41
  people,
• 29:41
  hopefully.
• 29:42
  But
• 29:43
  the
• 29:43
  vibe,
• 29:44
  for
• 29:44
  me,
• 29:45
  you'll
• 29:45
  know
• 29:46
  the
• 29:46
  guy.
• 29:47
  You'll
• 29:47
  know
• 29:47
  the
• 29:48
  snake
• 29:48
  oil
• 29:48
  peddler,
• 29:49
  used
• 29:50
  car
• 29:50
  salesman,
• 29:51
  and
• 29:51
  you'll
• 29:51
  know
• 29:52
  the
• 29:52
  guy
• 29:52
  that's
• 29:53
  authentic.
• 29:53
  And
• 29:54
  he's
• 29:54
  not
• 29:54
  going
• 29:54
  to
• 29:54
  be
• 29:55
  the
• 29:55
  cheapest,
• 29:55
  but
• 29:56
  he's
• 29:56
  also
• 29:56
  not
• 29:56
  going
• 29:57
  to
• 29:57
  be
• 29:57
  the
• 29:57
  most
• 29:57
  expensive.
• 29:58
  Always.
• 29:59
  Yeah,
• 30:00
  but
• 30:00
  it's.
• 30:00
  That's
• 30:01
  going
• 30:01
  to
• 30:01
  be
• 30:01
  a
• 30:01
  bigger
• 30:01
  company,
• 30:02
  which
• 30:03
  you
• 30:03
  think
• 30:03
  you
• 30:03
  can
• 30:04
  trust.
• 30:04
  But
• 30:04
  they're
• 30:04
  just
• 30:05
  humans,
• 30:05
  just
• 30:05
  like
• 30:05
  the
• 30:05
  rest
• 30:06
  of
• 30:06
  us.
• 30:06
  They
• 30:06
  screw
• 30:06
  up
• 30:07
  too.
• 30:08
  And
• 30:08
  I
• 30:08
  say
• 30:08
  that
• 30:08
  because
• 30:09
  you
• 30:10
  remember,
• 30:10
  Eric,
• 30:11
  I
• 30:11
  was
• 30:11
  a
• 30:11
  little
• 30:11
  bit
• 30:11
  wily.
• 30:12
  Long
• 30:12
  hair,
• 30:13
  tattoos,
• 30:13
  earrings
• 30:14
  ripped
• 30:14
  up,
• 30:15
  chains.
• 30:15
  And
• 30:16
  I
• 30:16
  would
• 30:16
  walk
• 30:16
  in
• 30:16
  and
• 30:16
  sell
• 30:17
  $250,000
• 30:18
  remodels
• 30:18
  because
• 30:19
  I
• 30:19
  was
• 30:19
  honest
• 30:19
  with
• 30:19
  the
• 30:20
  people.
• 30:20
  I
• 30:20
  told
• 30:20
  them
• 30:20
  what
• 30:21
  I
• 30:21
  was
• 30:21
  capable
• 30:21
  of.
• 30:22
  I
• 30:22
  had
• 30:22
  great
• 30:23
  referrals
• 30:23
  because
• 30:23
  I
• 30:24
  always
• 30:24
  delivered
• 30:24
  what
• 30:25
  I
• 30:25
  said
• 30:25
  I
• 30:25
  was
• 30:25
  going
• 30:25
  to
• 30:25
  deliver.
• 30:26
  And
• 30:26
  I
• 30:26
  did
• 30:26
  it
• 30:26
  on
• 30:27
  time,
• 30:27
  and
• 30:28
  I
• 30:28
  made
• 30:28
  sure
• 30:28
  I
• 30:28
  did
• 30:28
  it
• 30:28
  right.
• 30:29
  And
• 30:29
  people
• 30:29
  danced
• 30:30
  and
• 30:30
  cried
• 30:30
  in
• 30:30
  their
• 30:30
  kitchens
• 30:31
  because
• 30:31
  of
• 30:31
  that.
• 30:32
  And
• 30:32
  that's
• 30:32
  why
• 30:32
  I
• 30:32
  never
• 30:33
  ran
• 30:33
  out
• 30:33
  of
• 30:33
  work.
• 30:34
  Exactly.
• 30:35
  People.
• 30:35
  I'd
• 30:35
  walk
• 30:35
  in
• 30:36
  with
• 30:36
  Kevin,
• 30:37
  he'd
• 30:37
  be
• 30:37
  all
• 30:37
  suited
• 30:38
  up
• 30:38
  with
• 30:38
  a
• 30:38
  tie
• 30:39
  on,
• 30:40
  his
• 30:40
  Mercedes.
• 30:41
  In
• 30:41
  his
• 30:41
  Eastern
• 30:42
  European
• 30:42
  Mercedes
• 30:43
  gangster
• 30:43
  car.
• 30:44
  Yeah.
• 30:44
  I'd
• 30:44
  walk
• 30:44
  in
• 30:45
  covered
• 30:45
  in
• 30:45
  sawdust
• 30:46
  and
• 30:46
  ripped
• 30:46
  jeans
• 30:46
  and
• 30:47
  hair
• 30:48
  hanging
• 30:48
  out
• 30:48
  of
• 30:48
  my
• 30:49
  head.
• 30:49
  And
• 30:49
  the
• 30:49
  people
• 30:50
  loved
• 30:50
  me
• 30:50
  because
• 30:51
  I
• 30:51
  was
• 30:51
  just
• 30:51
  genuine
• 30:52
  and
• 30:52
  authentic.
• 30:52
  And
• 30:52
  I
• 30:53
  think
• 30:53
  that
• 30:53
  connection
• 30:53
  with
• 30:54
  your
• 30:54
  contractor
• 30:54
  goes
• 30:55
  a
• 30:55
  long
• 30:55
  ways.
• 30:56
  You
• 30:56
  don't
• 30:57
  want
• 30:57
  to,
• 30:57
  in
• 30:58
  my
• 30:58
  opinion,
• 30:59
  be
• 30:59
  a
• 30:59
  micromanager
• 31:00
  for
• 31:00
  your
• 31:00
  contractor.
• 31:01
  It's
• 31:02
  better
• 31:02
  buddies.
• 31:03
  Buy
• 31:03
  the
• 31:03
  guy
• 31:04
  a
• 31:04
  beer,
• 31:05
  give
• 31:05
  him
• 31:05
  a
• 31:05
  dinner
• 31:06
  or
• 31:06
  something
• 31:06
  like
• 31:06
  that.
• 31:06
  Give
• 31:07
  him
• 31:07
  a
• 31:07
  sandwich
• 31:07
  at
• 31:07
  lunch.
• 31:08
  They're
• 31:08
  like,
• 31:08
  these
• 31:09
  people
• 31:09
  are
• 31:09
  cool.
• 31:09
  And
• 31:10
  then
• 31:10
  the
• 31:10
  shows
• 31:10
  in
• 31:11
  the
• 31:11
  work,
• 31:11
  they
• 31:11
  start
• 31:12
  caring
• 31:12
  about
• 31:12
  you
• 31:12
  as
• 31:13
  a
• 31:13
  person,
• 31:13
  as
• 31:13
  a
• 31:13
  friend,
• 31:14
  as
• 31:14
  a
• 31:14
  client.
• 31:15
  Absolutely.
• 31:16
  On
• 31:16
  a
• 31:16
  human
• 31:16
  level.
• 31:17
  And
• 31:17
  I.
• 31:17
  In
• 31:18
  my
• 31:18
  opinion,
• 31:18
  that
• 31:19
  goes
• 31:19
  way
• 31:19
  further
• 31:20
  than
• 31:20
  it
• 31:21
  goes
• 31:21
  along.
• 31:21
  Amen.
• 31:22
  And
• 31:22
  we
• 31:22
  gotta
• 31:22
  go
• 31:23
  to
• 31:23
  break.
• 31:23
  But
• 31:23
  that
• 31:23
  is
• 31:24
  the
• 31:24
  honeymoon
• 31:24
  period.
• 31:24
  Right.
• 31:25
  That
• 31:25
  is
• 31:25
  the
• 31:25
  part
• 31:26
  that
• 31:26
  everybody's
• 31:27
  loving
• 31:27
  each
• 31:27
  other.
• 31:28
  If
• 31:28
  it's
• 31:28
  rough
• 31:28
  right
• 31:28
  there,
• 31:29
  it's
• 31:29
  gonna
• 31:29
  change,
• 31:30
  just
• 31:30
  get
• 31:30
  worse.
• 31:30
  And
• 31:31
  we're.
• 31:31
  We
• 31:32
  feel
• 31:32
  that.
• 31:32
  You
• 31:32
  start
• 31:33
  feeling
• 31:33
  that
• 31:33
  friction,
• 31:34
  like
• 31:34
  she's
• 31:34
  pushy,
• 31:35
  she's
• 31:35
  a
• 31:35
  jerk.
• 31:36
  Oh,
• 31:37
  boy,
• 31:37
  here
• 31:37
  we
• 31:37
  go.
• 31:37
  Here
• 31:37
  we
• 31:38
  go.
• 31:38
  Exactly.
• 31:38
  We
• 31:39
  come
• 31:39
  back.
• 31:39
  I
• 31:39
  want
• 31:39
  to
• 31:40
  talk
• 31:40
  about
• 31:40
  one
• 31:40
  of
• 31:40
  the
• 31:41
  contracting
• 31:41
  groups
• 31:42
  out
• 31:42
  there.
• 31:42
  One
• 31:42
  project
• 31:43
  that
• 31:43
  is
• 31:43
  like
• 31:44
  the
• 31:44
  big
• 31:44
  one
• 31:45
  for
• 31:45
  people
• 31:45
  taking
• 31:45
  money
• 31:46
  out
• 31:46
  of
• 31:46
  homeowners
• 31:47
  pockets.
• 31:47
  If
• 31:47
  you're
• 31:47
  not
• 31:48
  educated
• 31:48
  on
• 31:48
  this,
• 31:49
  we'll
• 31:49
  talk
• 31:49
  about
• 31:49
  that
• 31:50
  just
• 31:50
  as
• 31:50
  soon
• 31:50
  as
• 31:51
  around
• 31:51
  the
• 31:51
  House
• 31:51
  returns.
• 31:52
  Don't
• 31:52
  go
• 31:52
  anywhere.
• 33:52
  All
• 33:52
  right.
• 33:57
  Welcome
• 33:57
  back
• 33:57
  to
• 33:57
  the
• 33:57
  around
• 33:58
  the
• 33:58
  House
• 33:58
  show.
• 33:58
  The
• 33:59
  next
• 33:59
  generation
• 33:59
  of
• 34:00
  home
• 34:00
  improvement.
• 34:00
  If
• 34:00
  you
• 34:01
  want
• 34:01
  to
• 34:01
  find
• 34:01
  out
• 34:01
  more
• 34:01
  about
• 34:02
  us.
• 34:02
  Head
• 34:02
  over
• 34:02
  to
• 34:02
  aroundthehouse
• 34:04
  online.com.
• 34:05
  send
• 34:05
  a
• 34:05
  message
• 34:05
  to
• 34:06
  Johnny
• 34:06
  and
• 34:06
  I
• 34:06
  over
• 34:06
  there.
• 34:07
  You
• 34:07
  can
• 34:07
  do
• 34:07
  that
• 34:07
  right
• 34:07
  there.
• 34:08
  Just
• 34:08
  use
• 34:09
  the
• 34:09
  contact
• 34:09
  Us
• 34:09
  page.
• 34:10
  And
• 34:10
  today
• 34:10
  we're
• 34:10
  talking
• 34:11
  about
• 34:11
  how
• 34:11
  to
• 34:11
  hire
• 34:12
  a
• 34:12
  contractor.
• 34:13
  Some
• 34:13
  of
• 34:14
  our
• 34:14
  tips,
• 34:14
  tricks,
• 34:15
  horror
• 34:16
  stories
• 34:17
  when
• 34:17
  we're
• 34:17
  going
• 34:17
  out
• 34:17
  to
• 34:17
  break.
• 34:18
  I
• 34:18
  was
• 34:18
  teasing
• 34:18
  ahead
• 34:18
  to
• 34:19
  you
• 34:19
  guys
• 34:19
  that
• 34:20
  there
• 34:20
  is
• 34:20
  one
• 34:21
  project
• 34:21
  out
• 34:22
  there
• 34:23
  or
• 34:23
  one
• 34:23
  project
• 34:24
  that
• 34:24
  is
• 34:24
  probably
• 34:24
  one
• 34:25
  of
• 34:25
  the
• 34:25
  most
• 34:25
  fearful
• 34:26
  for
• 34:26
  homeowners.
• 34:27
  And
• 34:27
  I
• 34:28
  think
• 34:28
  it's
• 34:28
  one
• 34:28
  of
• 34:28
  the
• 34:28
  most
• 34:28
  dangerous
• 34:29
  as
• 34:29
  well,
• 34:30
  because
• 34:31
  the
• 34:31
  bad
• 34:31
  contractors
• 34:32
  can
• 34:32
  use
• 34:32
  fear
• 34:33
  and
• 34:33
  get
• 34:33
  you
• 34:34
  to
• 34:34
  write
• 34:34
  big
• 34:34
  checks
• 34:35
  when
• 34:35
  you
• 34:36
  don't
• 34:36
  need
• 34:36
  it.
• 34:37
  And
• 34:37
  that's
• 34:37
  foundation
• 34:38
  repair
• 34:39
  companies.
• 34:40
  You've
• 34:40
  seen
• 34:40
  it,
• 34:41
  Johnny.
• 34:41
  It's
• 34:41
  crazy.
• 34:42
  Some
• 34:42
  of
• 34:42
  these
• 34:43
  guys.
• 34:43
  I'll
• 34:43
  tell
• 34:43
  you
• 34:43
  an
• 34:44
  example.
• 34:44
  Here's
• 34:45
  a
• 34:45
  great
• 34:45
  example.
• 34:45
  I
• 34:45
  was
• 34:45
  working
• 34:46
  with
• 34:46
  a
• 34:46
  company
• 34:47
  back
• 34:47
  in
• 34:47
  my
• 34:48
  days
• 34:48
  when
• 34:49
  I
• 34:49
  was
• 34:49
  on
• 34:49
  another
• 34:49
  station
• 34:50
  here
• 34:50
  in
• 34:50
  Portland,
• 34:50
  Oregon.
• 34:51
  Back
• 34:51
  when
• 34:51
  I
• 34:51
  was
• 34:52
  working
• 34:52
  with
• 34:52
  Bob,
• 34:52
  I
• 34:52
  was
• 34:52
  working
• 34:53
  with
• 34:53
  these
• 34:53
  guys.
• 34:54
  So
• 34:54
  I
• 34:54
  went
• 34:54
  on
• 34:54
  a
• 34:54
  job
• 34:55
  site.
• 34:55
  I
• 34:55
  pull
• 34:55
  up
• 34:56
  in
• 34:56
  my
• 34:56
  company
• 34:57
  car
• 34:57
  because
• 34:58
  I
• 34:58
  was
• 34:58
  helping
• 34:58
  do
• 34:58
  some
• 34:58
  estimates
• 34:59
  for
• 34:59
  him,
• 35:00
  and
• 35:00
  I
• 35:00
  see
• 35:00
  the
• 35:00
  competition
• 35:01
  is
• 35:01
  still
• 35:02
  inside
• 35:02
  the
• 35:03
  house.
• 35:03
  And
• 35:03
  I'm
• 35:03
  watching
• 35:04
  my
• 35:04
  watch
• 35:04
  going
• 35:04
  on
• 35:05
  to
• 35:05
  30
• 35:05
  appointment
• 35:06
  and
• 35:06
  competition
• 35:07
  still
• 35:07
  in
• 35:08
  there.
• 35:08
  So
• 35:08
  I
• 35:08
  gave
• 35:08
  him
• 35:08
  a
• 35:08
  minute.
• 35:09
  Finally,
• 35:10
  they
• 35:10
  rush
• 35:10
  him
• 35:10
  outside,
• 35:11
  and
• 35:11
  he
• 35:11
  gets
• 35:11
  in
• 35:11
  the
• 35:12
  truck
• 35:12
  and
• 35:12
  drives
• 35:13
  off.
• 35:13
  I
• 35:13
  come
• 35:13
  up
• 35:14
  and
• 35:14
  I
• 35:14
  have
• 35:15
  a.
• 35:16
  Two
• 35:16
  homeowners,
• 35:17
  husband
• 35:18
  and
• 35:18
  wife
• 35:18
  in
• 35:18
  tears.
• 35:19
  Oh,
• 35:20
  geez.
• 35:21
  Have
• 35:21
  a
• 35:21
  leak
• 35:21
  in
• 35:22
  the
• 35:22
  basement.
• 35:23
  Coming
• 35:23
  through
• 35:24
  someplace.
• 35:25
  There's
• 35:25
  water
• 35:25
  in
• 35:25
  the.
• 35:26
  Your
• 35:27
  typical
• 35:28
  northwest,
• 35:29
  west
• 35:29
  coast,
• 35:30
  California
• 35:30
  splash
• 35:31
  in
• 35:31
  the
• 35:31
  basement.
• 35:32
  So
• 35:34
  there's
• 35:34
  one
• 35:34
  that
• 35:34
  doesn't
• 35:35
  leak.
• 35:35
  I've
• 35:35
  never
• 35:35
  seen
• 35:36
  it.
• 35:37
  Absolutely.
• 35:38
  So
• 35:38
  when
• 35:38
  I'm
• 35:39
  walking
• 35:39
  up
• 35:39
  to
• 35:39
  the
• 35:39
  door,
• 35:39
  I
• 35:40
  see
• 35:40
  the
• 35:40
  window
• 35:41
  there,
• 35:41
  and
• 35:41
  there's
• 35:41
  a
• 35:41
  sprinkler.
• 35:43
  I'm
• 35:43
  waiting
• 35:43
  for
• 35:43
  the
• 35:43
  door
• 35:43
  to
• 35:44
  open.
• 35:44
  They're
• 35:44
  collecting
• 35:45
  them
• 35:45
  stuff.
• 35:45
  I
• 35:45
  can
• 35:46
  see
• 35:46
  that
• 35:46
  there's
• 35:46
  a
• 35:47
  crack
• 35:47
  in
• 35:47
  the
• 35:47
  concrete
• 35:48
  underneath
• 35:48
  the
• 35:49
  window
• 35:49
  because
• 35:49
  the
• 35:49
  grade
• 35:50
  comes
• 35:50
  up
• 35:50
  like
• 35:50
  halfway
• 35:51
  up
• 35:51
  on
• 35:51
  this
• 35:52
  floor.
• 35:52
  It's
• 35:52
  kind
• 35:52
  of
• 35:52
  like
• 35:52
  a
• 35:52
  half
• 35:53
  basement.
• 35:53
  Basement
• 35:54
  dirt
• 35:54
  is
• 35:54
  like
• 35:54
  dirt
• 35:55
  outside.
• 35:55
  The
• 35:55
  terrain
• 35:56
  is
• 35:56
  waist
• 35:56
  high
• 35:57
  or
• 35:57
  higher.
• 35:58
  Come
• 35:58
  in,
• 35:59
  take
• 35:59
  a
• 35:59
  look.
• 35:59
  I'm
• 35:59
  like,
• 35:59
  oh,
• 36:00
  you
• 36:00
  guys
• 36:00
  okay?
• 36:00
  Yeah.
• 36:01
  We
• 36:01
  just
• 36:01
  got
• 36:01
  a
• 36:01
  $80,000
• 36:02
  bid
• 36:03
  or
• 36:03
  whatever
• 36:03
  it
• 36:03
  was.
• 36:04
  It
• 36:04
  was
• 36:04
  so
• 36:04
  crazy.
• 36:05
  What'd
• 36:05
  they
• 36:06
  say?
• 36:06
  Oh,
• 36:06
  I
• 36:06
  have
• 36:06
  water
• 36:07
  coming
• 36:07
  up
• 36:07
  between
• 36:07
  the
• 36:08
  slab
• 36:08
  and
• 36:09
  the
• 36:09
  well.
• 36:10
  And
• 36:11
  so
• 36:11
  we
• 36:11
  have
• 36:11
  a
• 36:11
  high
• 36:11
  water
• 36:12
  table.
• 36:12
  They
• 36:13
  gotta.
• 36:13
  They
• 36:14
  said
• 36:14
  that
• 36:14
  we
• 36:14
  need
• 36:14
  to
• 36:14
  dig
• 36:15
  up
• 36:15
  the
• 36:15
  basement
• 36:15
  floor
• 36:15
  and
• 36:16
  do
• 36:16
  us.
• 36:16
  I
• 36:17
  said,
• 36:17
  you
• 36:17
  know,
• 36:17
  draining
• 36:18
  system.
• 36:18
  Yeah,
• 36:19
  do
• 36:19
  the
• 36:19
  French
• 36:19
  drain
• 36:20
  or
• 36:20
  anything.
• 36:20
  I
• 36:20
  said,
• 36:20
  okay.
• 36:21
  I'm
• 36:21
  not
• 36:21
  gonna
• 36:21
  take
• 36:21
  that
• 36:22
  as
• 36:22
  gospel.
• 36:22
  Let's
• 36:23
  start
• 36:23
  over.
• 36:24
  Start
• 36:24
  from
• 36:25
  the
• 36:25
  beginning.
• 36:25
  Let's
• 36:25
  head
• 36:26
  down
• 36:26
  there
• 36:26
  and
• 36:26
  take
• 36:26
  a
• 36:26
  look.
• 36:27
  So
• 36:27
  I'm
• 36:28
  like,
• 36:28
  I
• 36:28
  walk
• 36:28
  down,
• 36:29
  what's
• 36:29
  the
• 36:29
  first
• 36:29
  thing
• 36:29
  I
• 36:30
  see?
• 36:30
  9
• 36:30
  by
• 36:30
  9
• 36:31
  asbestos
• 36:31
  tiles
• 36:32
  on
• 36:32
  the
• 36:32
  floor.
• 36:32
  And
• 36:32
  I'm
• 36:32
  like,
• 36:33
  did
• 36:33
  you
• 36:33
  mention
• 36:33
  having
• 36:33
  to
• 36:34
  abate
• 36:34
  this,
• 36:34
  guys?
• 36:36
  No.
• 36:36
  All
• 36:37
  right,
• 36:37
  there's
• 36:37
  another
• 36:37
  30
• 36:38
  or
• 36:38
  40
• 36:38
  grand
• 36:38
  on
• 36:39
  top
• 36:39
  of
• 36:39
  that.
• 36:39
  I
• 36:39
  said,
• 36:39
  that's
• 36:40
  going
• 36:40
  to
• 36:40
  get
• 36:40
  more
• 36:40
  expensive.
• 36:41
  Let's
• 36:41
  see
• 36:42
  what
• 36:42
  we
• 36:42
  got
• 36:42
  here.
• 36:43
  So
• 36:43
  she.
• 36:43
  I'm
• 36:44
  like,
• 36:44
  where's
• 36:44
  the
• 36:44
  water?
• 36:44
  And
• 36:45
  they,
• 36:45
  oh,
• 36:45
  it's
• 36:45
  coming
• 36:45
  up
• 36:46
  under
• 36:46
  the
• 36:46
  drywall
• 36:48
  over
• 36:48
  here.
• 36:49
  I'm
• 36:49
  like,
• 36:50
  the
• 36:50
  drywall.
• 36:51
  I'm
• 36:51
  looking,
• 36:52
  I'm
• 36:52
  like,
• 36:52
  that's
• 36:52
  the
• 36:52
  window.
• 36:53
  Yeah.
• 36:54
  I
• 36:54
  said,
• 36:54
  and
• 36:54
  I
• 36:55
  had
• 36:55
  a
• 36:55
  Milwaukee
• 36:55
  inspection
• 36:56
  camera,
• 36:56
  one
• 36:57
  of
• 36:57
  those
• 36:57
  little
• 36:57
  fiber
• 36:57
  optic
• 36:58
  ones
• 36:58
  out
• 36:58
  in
• 36:58
  the
• 36:58
  car.
• 36:59
  I
• 36:59
  said,
• 36:59
  let
• 36:59
  me
• 36:59
  go
• 36:59
  and
• 36:59
  get
• 37:00
  the
• 37:00
  car.
• 37:00
  I
• 37:01
  said,
• 37:01
  I
• 37:01
  might
• 37:01
  be
• 37:01
  able
• 37:01
  to
• 37:01
  save
• 37:02
  you
• 37:02
  some
• 37:02
  serious
• 37:02
  money.
• 37:03
  Can
• 37:03
  I
• 37:03
  punch
• 37:03
  a
• 37:04
  hole
• 37:04
  in
• 37:04
  the
• 37:04
  drywall
• 37:04
  here?
• 37:05
  About
• 37:05
  the
• 37:05
  size
• 37:05
  of
• 37:05
  a
• 37:05
  pencil.
• 37:07
  Do
• 37:07
  what
• 37:07
  you
• 37:07
  need
• 37:07
  to
• 37:07
  do.
• 37:08
  I
• 37:08
  go
• 37:08
  in
• 37:09
  there
• 37:09
  with
• 37:09
  that
• 37:10
  and
• 37:10
  I
• 37:10
  can
• 37:10
  see
• 37:11
  daylight
• 37:12
  through
• 37:12
  the
• 37:12
  crack.
• 37:13
  Yeah,
• 37:13
  grind
• 37:14
  out
• 37:14
  the
• 37:14
  crack.
• 37:14
  Epoxy
• 37:15
  resin.
• 37:15
  Done.
• 37:16
  Yep.
• 37:17
  So
• 37:17
  basically
• 37:17
  I
• 37:18
  said,
• 37:18
  okay,
• 37:18
  here's
• 37:19
  the
• 37:19
  thing.
• 37:20
  I
• 37:20
  can
• 37:20
  see
• 37:20
  where
• 37:21
  the
• 37:21
  water
• 37:21
  was
• 37:21
  coming
• 37:21
  out.
• 37:21
  I
• 37:22
  said,
• 37:22
  you
• 37:22
  got
• 37:22
  to
• 37:22
  sprinkle
• 37:22
  it
• 37:22
  out
• 37:23
  there.
• 37:23
  It's
• 37:23
  probably
• 37:23
  leaking
• 37:24
  a
• 37:24
  little
• 37:24
  bit.
• 37:25
  It's
• 37:25
  coming
• 37:25
  in
• 37:25
  right
• 37:26
  here.
• 37:26
  It's
• 37:26
  coming
• 37:26
  in
• 37:26
  right
• 37:27
  here.
• 37:27
  This
• 37:27
  is
• 37:27
  what
• 37:27
  it
• 37:28
  is.
• 37:28
  I
• 37:28
  go,
• 37:29
  I
• 37:29
  can
• 37:29
  have
• 37:29
  somebody
• 37:30
  come
• 37:30
  in
• 37:30
  here.
• 37:30
  We'll
• 37:31
  take
• 37:31
  out
• 37:31
  the
• 37:31
  drywall,
• 37:32
  we'll
• 37:33
  put
• 37:33
  in
• 37:33
  carbon
• 37:33
  fiber
• 37:34
  over
• 37:34
  the
• 37:34
  top
• 37:34
  of
• 37:34
  it.
• 37:35
  We'll
• 37:35
  use
• 37:35
  urethane
• 37:36
  to
• 37:36
  patch
• 37:36
  it
• 37:37
  with
• 37:37
  carbon
• 37:38
  fiber
• 37:38
  over
• 37:38
  it.
• 37:38
  It'll
• 37:39
  be
• 37:39
  the
• 37:39
  strongest
• 37:39
  part
• 37:39
  of
• 37:39
  the
• 37:40
  foundation.
• 37:40
  It's
• 37:41
  two
• 37:41
  grand.
• 37:41
  At
• 37:41
  the
• 37:42
  time,
• 37:42
  they
• 37:43
  were
• 37:43
  so
• 37:43
  happy.
• 37:44
  They
• 37:44
  were
• 37:44
  like,
• 37:44
  let's
• 37:45
  go,
• 37:45
  let's
• 37:46
  rock.
• 37:47
  If
• 37:47
  they
• 37:47
  would
• 37:47
  have
• 37:48
  gone
• 37:48
  with
• 37:48
  that
• 37:48
  fear
• 37:48
  based
• 37:49
  contractor,
• 37:50
  they'd
• 37:50
  add
• 37:50
  a
• 37:51
  hundred
• 37:51
  thousand
• 37:51
  dollar
• 37:51
  in
• 37:52
  that
• 37:52
  thing
• 37:52
  by
• 37:52
  the
• 37:52
  time
• 37:52
  they
• 37:52
  got
• 37:53
  it
• 37:53
  cleaned
• 37:53
  up.
• 37:53
  And
• 37:53
  it
• 37:53
  wouldn't
• 37:54
  have
• 37:54
  fixed
• 37:54
  the
• 37:54
  problem
• 37:55
  because
• 37:55
  the
• 37:55
  water
• 37:55
  wasn't
• 37:56
  coming
• 37:56
  up
• 37:56
  through
• 37:56
  the
• 37:56
  floor,
• 37:57
  it
• 37:57
  was
• 37:57
  coming
• 37:57
  through
• 37:58
  the
• 37:58
  sidewall.
• 37:59
  Yeah.
• 37:59
  No,
• 38:00
  and
• 38:00
  the
• 38:01
  worst
• 38:01
  thing
• 38:01
  about
• 38:01
  it
• 38:01
  is
• 38:01
  it's
• 38:02
  such
• 38:02
  a
• 38:02
  niche
• 38:03
  space.
• 38:04
  Right.
• 38:04
  There's
• 38:04
  not
• 38:05
  a
• 38:05
  lot
• 38:05
  of
• 38:05
  guys
• 38:05
  that
• 38:05
  are
• 38:05
  out
• 38:06
  there
• 38:06
  doing
• 38:06
  the
• 38:06
  French
• 38:07
  drains
• 38:07
  and
• 38:07
  basements
• 38:08
  and
• 38:08
  doing.
• 38:08
  And
• 38:09
  so
• 38:09
  they
• 38:09
  know
• 38:09
  they
• 38:09
  can
• 38:09
  get
• 38:10
  away
• 38:10
  with
• 38:10
  it.
• 38:10
  Look,
• 38:11
  everybody
• 38:11
  knows
• 38:11
  a
• 38:11
  little
• 38:12
  bit
• 38:12
  about
• 38:12
  painting.
• 38:13
  Everybody
• 38:13
  knows
• 38:14
  a
• 38:14
  little
• 38:14
  bit
• 38:14
  about
• 38:15
  installing
• 38:15
  a
• 38:15
  cabinet
• 38:16
  or
• 38:16
  the
• 38:17
  basics
• 38:17
  of
• 38:17
  household
• 38:18
  maintenance.
• 38:19
  But
• 38:19
  you
• 38:19
  start
• 38:20
  talking
• 38:20
  foundation,
• 38:21
  nobody
• 38:21
  knows.
• 38:21
  They're
• 38:22
  like,
• 38:22
  I
• 38:22
  don't
• 38:22
  know.
• 38:22
  I've
• 38:23
  never
• 38:23
  done
• 38:23
  concrete.
• 38:24
  No.
• 38:24
  And
• 38:25
  when
• 38:25
  you
• 38:25
  have
• 38:25
  a
• 38:25
  hundred
• 38:26
  thousand.
• 38:26
  Dollars
• 38:26
  to
• 38:26
  paint
• 38:27
  a
• 38:27
  bedroom.
• 38:27
  They're
• 38:27
  like,
• 38:28
  no,
• 38:28
  I
• 38:28
  could
• 38:29
  paint
• 38:29
  a
• 38:29
  bedroom
• 38:29
  for
• 38:30
  less
• 38:30
  than
• 38:30
  you
• 38:30
  know
• 38:30
  what
• 38:31
  I
• 38:31
  mean?
• 38:31
  You
• 38:31
  tell
• 38:32
  them,
• 38:32
  you
• 38:32
  got
• 38:32
  to
• 38:32
  fix
• 38:32
  the
• 38:32
  foundation.
• 38:33
  Oh,
• 38:33
  my
• 38:33
  God.
• 38:34
  That's
• 38:34
  holding
• 38:34
  our
• 38:34
  house,
• 38:36
  ma'.
• 38:36
  Am.
• 38:36
  The
• 38:36
  house
• 38:36
  could
• 38:37
  fall
• 38:37
  down.
• 38:37
  You
• 38:37
  know
• 38:37
  what
• 38:38
  I
• 38:38
  mean?
• 38:38
  It's
• 38:38
  just
• 38:38
  one
• 38:38
  of
• 38:38
  those
• 38:38
  things.
• 38:39
  It's
• 38:39
  crazy.
• 38:39
  It's
• 38:40
  gross
• 38:40
  that
• 38:41
  guys
• 38:41
  play
• 38:41
  on
• 38:42
  that.
• 38:42
  And
• 38:42
  to
• 38:43
  put
• 38:43
  years.
• 38:44
  Shame
• 38:44
  on
• 38:44
  you.
• 38:45
  Yeah,
• 38:45
  and
• 38:45
  here's
• 38:46
  my
• 38:46
  fix
• 38:46
  for
• 38:46
  that.
• 38:46
  If
• 38:46
  you're
• 38:47
  having
• 38:47
  to
• 38:47
  have
• 38:48
  foundation
• 38:48
  work
• 38:48
  done,
• 38:49
  don't
• 38:49
  call
• 38:49
  the
• 38:50
  foundation
• 38:50
  repair
• 38:50
  company
• 38:51
  first.
• 38:52
  Call
• 38:52
  a
• 38:52
  structural
• 38:52
  engineer.
• 38:53
  Have
• 38:53
  them
• 38:54
  come
• 38:54
  out,
• 38:54
  pay
• 38:54
  them
• 38:54
  the
• 38:55
  hundreds
• 38:55
  to
• 38:56
  thousand
• 38:56
  dollars
• 38:56
  to
• 38:57
  write
• 38:57
  a
• 38:57
  report.
• 38:58
  Yeah,
• 38:58
  they
• 38:58
  will
• 38:58
  go
• 38:59
  through.
• 38:59
  They'll
• 39:00
  write
• 39:00
  up
• 39:00
  a
• 39:00
  plan.
• 39:00
  They'll
• 39:01
  draw
• 39:01
  up
• 39:01
  a
• 39:01
  plan.
• 39:02
  Or
• 39:02
  they'll
• 39:02
  go,
• 39:02
  hey,
• 39:03
  that's
• 39:03
  good.
• 39:03
  That's
• 39:03
  not
• 39:04
  even
• 39:04
  structural.
• 39:04
  That's
• 39:05
  just
• 39:05
  cosmetic.
• 39:06
  Easy.
• 39:07
  Or
• 39:07
  they'll
• 39:07
  say,
• 39:08
  hey,
• 39:08
  we
• 39:08
  can
• 39:08
  fix
• 39:09
  this.
• 39:09
  But
• 39:09
  here,
• 39:09
  there's
• 39:10
  always
• 39:10
  a
• 39:10
  fix,
• 39:10
  guys.
• 39:11
  There's
• 39:11
  always
• 39:11
  a
• 39:12
  fix.
• 39:12
  And
• 39:13
  most
• 39:13
  of
• 39:13
  the
• 39:13
  time,
• 39:13
  it
• 39:13
  doesn't
• 39:14
  require
• 39:14
  jacking
• 39:15
  up
• 39:15
  the
• 39:15
  house
• 39:15
  and
• 39:15
  tearing
• 39:16
  the
• 39:16
  foundation
• 39:16
  out.
• 39:16
  So
• 39:17
  most
• 39:17
  of
• 39:18
  the
• 39:18
  time,
• 39:18
  there's
• 39:19
  a
• 39:19
  fix
• 39:19
  that
• 39:19
  they
• 39:19
  will
• 39:20
  come
• 39:20
  up
• 39:20
  with.
• 39:21
  Then
• 39:21
  you
• 39:21
  take
• 39:21
  that
• 39:21
  fix,
• 39:22
  then
• 39:22
  you
• 39:22
  put
• 39:23
  it
• 39:23
  out
• 39:23
  to
• 39:23
  bed.
• 39:24
  Yeah,
• 39:24
  that's
• 39:24
  exactly
• 39:25
  how
• 39:25
  you
• 39:25
  do
• 39:25
  it.
• 39:25
  And
• 39:26
  it's
• 39:27
  just
• 39:27
  so
• 39:27
  simple
• 39:27
  that
• 39:28
  way.
• 39:28
  But
• 39:29
  before
• 39:29
  we
• 39:30
  run
• 39:30
  out
• 39:30
  of
• 39:30
  time,
• 39:30
  I
• 39:30
  want
• 39:31
  to
• 39:31
  make
• 39:31
  sure
• 39:31
  we
• 39:31
  run
• 39:31
  down
• 39:31
  the
• 39:32
  list
• 39:32
  here
• 39:32
  real
• 39:32
  quick.
• 39:33
  First
• 39:33
  off,
• 39:34
  check
• 39:34
  the
• 39:35
  references.
• 39:35
  Now,
• 39:36
  some
• 39:37
  contractors
• 39:37
  get
• 39:37
  around
• 39:38
  that
• 39:38
  because
• 39:38
  they
• 39:38
  got
• 39:38
  their
• 39:39
  friends,
• 39:39
  their
• 39:39
  neighbors,
• 39:40
  their
• 39:40
  cousins
• 39:41
  as
• 39:42
  the
• 39:42
  references.
• 39:42
  But
• 39:43
  go
• 39:43
  take
• 39:43
  a
• 39:43
  look
• 39:43
  at
• 39:43
  the
• 39:43
  project.
• 39:44
  Now,
• 39:44
  here's
• 39:45
  the
• 39:45
  one
• 39:45
  rule
• 39:45
  I
• 39:45
  have.
• 39:46
  If
• 39:46
  you're
• 39:46
  going
• 39:46
  to
• 39:46
  go
• 39:46
  take
• 39:46
  a
• 39:46
  look
• 39:47
  at
• 39:47
  their
• 39:47
  project,
• 39:47
  if
• 39:47
  you
• 39:48
  hire
• 39:48
  them,
• 39:48
  you
• 39:49
  need
• 39:49
  to
• 39:49
  let
• 39:49
  a
• 39:49
  couple
• 39:49
  people
• 39:50
  come
• 39:50
  take
• 39:50
  a
• 39:50
  look
• 39:50
  at
• 39:51
  your
• 39:51
  project.
• 39:52
  When
• 39:52
  it's
• 39:52
  done,
• 39:53
  give
• 39:53
  back
• 39:54
  to
• 39:54
  that
• 39:54
  guy
• 39:54
  or
• 39:55
  girl.
• 39:55
  Make
• 39:56
  sure
• 39:56
  that
• 39:56
  you
• 39:56
  give
• 39:56
  that
• 39:57
  back.
• 39:57
  Use
• 39:58
  those
• 39:58
  references.
• 39:59
  Take
• 39:59
  a
• 39:59
  look
• 39:59
  out
• 40:00
  there.
• 40:00
  And
• 40:00
  by
• 40:00
  the
• 40:00
  way,
• 40:01
  there's
• 40:01
  this
• 40:01
  thing
• 40:01
  called
• 40:02
  social
• 40:02
  media
• 40:02
  and
• 40:03
  online
• 40:03
  reviews.
• 40:04
  Take
• 40:04
  a
• 40:04
  look.
• 40:05
  Now,
• 40:06
  angry
• 40:06
  people,
• 40:06
  the
• 40:07
  first
• 40:07
  thing,
• 40:07
  they
• 40:07
  don't
• 40:07
  call
• 40:08
  the
• 40:08
  contractor,
• 40:08
  they
• 40:08
  go
• 40:09
  jump
• 40:09
  on
• 40:09
  Google
• 40:09
  and
• 40:09
  put
• 40:09
  a
• 40:10
  review
• 40:10
  up.
• 40:10
  So
• 40:10
  keep
• 40:11
  it
• 40:11
  in
• 40:11
  mind,
• 40:12
  there
• 40:12
  will
• 40:12
  be
• 40:12
  bad
• 40:13
  reviews
• 40:13
  for
• 40:13
  almost
• 40:13
  every
• 40:14
  contractor
• 40:14
  out
• 40:15
  there.
• 40:15
  Somebody's
• 40:16
  not
• 40:16
  going
• 40:16
  to
• 40:16
  be.
• 40:17
  We
• 40:17
  see
• 40:17
  these
• 40:17
  people
• 40:18
  on
• 40:18
  the
• 40:18
  TV
• 40:18
  screens.
• 40:19
  These
• 40:19
  are
• 40:20
  the
• 40:20
  same
• 40:20
  people
• 40:20
  that
• 40:20
  are
• 40:20
  stealing
• 40:21
  the
• 40:21
  baseball
• 40:21
  out
• 40:21
  of
• 40:21
  the
• 40:22
  kid's
• 40:22
  hand
• 40:22
  at
• 40:22
  the
• 40:22
  ballpark.
• 40:23
  So
• 40:24
  there's
• 40:24
  always
• 40:25
  that
• 40:25
  person
• 40:25
  out
• 40:25
  there.
• 40:26
  But
• 40:26
  really,
• 40:28
  oh,
• 40:29
  you're
• 40:29
  playing
• 40:29
  the
• 40:29
  band
• 40:30
  at
• 40:30
  the.
• 40:30
  At
• 40:30
  the
• 40:30
  seventh
• 40:31
  inning
• 40:31
  stretch.
• 40:31
  You
• 40:32
  were
• 40:32
  not
• 40:32
  there
• 40:32
  playing
• 40:32
  baseball.
• 40:33
  But
• 40:34
  anyway,
• 40:34
  it's
• 40:34
  one
• 40:34
  of
• 40:34
  Those
• 40:34
  things
• 40:35
  that
• 40:35
  really
• 40:36
  doing
• 40:36
  the
• 40:36
  research
• 40:36
  to
• 40:37
  make
• 40:37
  sure
• 40:37
  that
• 40:37
  you
• 40:37
  find
• 40:38
  out
• 40:38
  who
• 40:38
  they
• 40:38
  are.
• 40:39
  Heck,
• 40:39
  if
• 40:39
  you're
• 40:40
  trying
• 40:40
  to
• 40:40
  get
• 40:40
  something
• 40:40
  framed
• 40:41
  up,
• 40:41
  go
• 40:41
  down
• 40:41
  and
• 40:41
  talk
• 40:41
  to
• 40:42
  the
• 40:42
  lumber
• 40:42
  yard,
• 40:42
  the
• 40:42
  independent
• 40:43
  lumber
• 40:43
  yard,
• 40:43
  and
• 40:43
  say,
• 40:43
  hey,
• 40:44
  who
• 40:44
  do
• 40:44
  you
• 40:44
  like
• 40:44
  around
• 40:45
  here?
• 40:45
  Yeah.
• 40:45
  And
• 40:46
  they'll
• 40:46
  go,
• 40:46
  hey,
• 40:46
  stop
• 40:46
  smiling
• 40:47
  every
• 40:47
  day.
• 40:48
  Yeah.
• 40:48
  Who's
• 40:48
  the
• 40:48
  one
• 40:49
  that.
• 40:49
  Oh,
• 40:49
  man,
• 40:49
  everybody
• 40:50
  loves
• 40:50
  this
• 40:50
  person.
• 40:50
  All
• 40:51
  right.
• 40:51
  That's
• 40:51
  gonna
• 40:52
  be
• 40:52
  better
• 40:52
  than
• 40:52
  jumping
• 40:52
  on
• 40:53
  social
• 40:53
  media
• 40:53
  and
• 40:53
  trying
• 40:53
  to
• 40:54
  find
• 40:54
  somebody.
• 40:55
  Ask
• 40:55
  your
• 40:55
  friends
• 40:56
  and
• 40:56
  family,
• 40:56
  who
• 40:56
  did
• 40:57
  they
• 40:57
  use?
• 40:58
  Did
• 40:58
  it
• 40:58
  go
• 40:58
  well?
• 40:59
  Referrals
• 41:00
  are
• 41:00
  great
• 41:00
  that
• 41:00
  way.
• 41:01
  And
• 41:01
  just
• 41:02
  do
• 41:02
  your
• 41:02
  research.
• 41:02
  And
• 41:03
  by
• 41:03
  the
• 41:03
  way,
• 41:03
  if
• 41:03
  you
• 41:04
  go
• 41:04
  into
• 41:04
  the
• 41:04
  home
• 41:04
  centers
• 41:05
  and
• 41:06
  hire
• 41:06
  the
• 41:07
  Home
• 41:07
  Depot,
• 41:08
  Lowe's,
• 41:08
  Menards,
• 41:09
  whoever
• 41:09
  out
• 41:09
  there,
• 41:10
  if
• 41:10
  you
• 41:10
  go
• 41:11
  in
• 41:11
  and
• 41:11
  hire
• 41:11
  their
• 41:11
  contractor,
• 41:12
  guess
• 41:12
  what?
• 41:13
  Those
• 41:13
  big
• 41:14
  box
• 41:14
  stores
• 41:14
  are
• 41:15
  marking
• 41:15
  them
• 41:15
  up
• 41:16
  30
• 41:16
  or
• 41:16
  40%
• 41:17
  because
• 41:17
  they
• 41:17
  got
• 41:17
  to
• 41:17
  make
• 41:17
  their
• 41:18
  cut,
• 41:18
  too.
• 41:19
  So
• 41:19
  they're
• 41:20
  doing
• 41:20
  it
• 41:20
  below
• 41:20
  cost.
• 41:21
  And
• 41:22
  usually
• 41:23
  those
• 41:24
  are
• 41:24
  the
• 41:24
  new
• 41:24
  contractors.
• 41:25
  Those
• 41:25
  are
• 41:25
  the
• 41:25
  ones
• 41:26
  that
• 41:26
  don't
• 41:26
  have
• 41:26
  the
• 41:26
  business.
• 41:27
  And
• 41:27
  they're
• 41:27
  like,
• 41:27
  at
• 41:27
  least
• 41:27
  I'll
• 41:27
  get
• 41:28
  some
• 41:28
  work
• 41:28
  from
• 41:28
  them.
• 41:29
  And.
• 41:29
  Exactly.
• 41:30
  That's
• 41:30
  the
• 41:30
  farm
• 41:30
  team
• 41:31
  for
• 41:31
  contractors.
• 41:32
  And
• 41:32
  that's
• 41:33
  how
• 41:33
  you
• 41:33
  do
• 41:33
  it.
• 41:33
  I
• 41:34
  just.
• 41:34
  Final
• 41:34
  word.
• 41:35
  Want
• 41:35
  to
• 41:35
  say
• 41:35
  the
• 41:36
  most.
• 41:36
  Not
• 41:37
  the
• 41:37
  most
• 41:37
  important
• 41:37
  thing.
• 41:38
  I
• 41:38
  only
• 41:38
  think
• 41:38
  it's
• 41:39
  the
• 41:39
  most
• 41:39
  important
• 41:39
  thing
• 41:39
  because
• 41:40
  I'm
• 41:40
  saying
• 41:40
  it,
• 41:40
  Eric.
• 41:41
  There
• 41:41
  we
• 41:41
  go.
• 41:42
  I
• 41:42
  will
• 41:43
  say
• 41:43
  it's
• 41:44
  hugely
• 41:45
  important
• 41:45
  to
• 41:46
  really
• 41:47
  plan
• 41:47
  your
• 41:47
  plan.
• 41:48
  Otherwise,
• 41:48
  you
• 41:49
  don't
• 41:49
  know
• 41:49
  what
• 41:49
  you're
• 41:50
  missing.
• 41:51
  Really
• 41:52
  know
• 41:52
  what
• 41:52
  your
• 41:53
  real
• 41:53
  budget
• 41:53
  is.
• 41:54
  Don't
• 41:54
  try
• 41:54
  to
• 41:54
  mess
• 41:55
  around.
• 41:55
  Don't
• 41:55
  try
• 41:55
  to
• 41:56
  tell
• 41:56
  them
• 41:56
  it's
• 41:57
  20
• 41:57
  grand
• 41:57
  less
• 41:57
  than
• 41:58
  it
• 41:58
  is.
• 41:58
  Don't
• 41:59
  just
• 41:59
  know
• 42:00
  what
• 42:00
  your
• 42:00
  budget
• 42:00
  is.
• 42:01
  Know
• 42:01
  exactly
• 42:02
  what
• 42:02
  you
• 42:02
  want
• 42:02
  to
• 42:02
  do,
• 42:03
  and
• 42:03
  then
• 42:04
  certify
• 42:05
  and
• 42:05
  qualify
• 42:05
  somebody
• 42:06
  that's
• 42:06
  good
• 42:06
  to
• 42:07
  do
• 42:07
  it.
• 42:08
  But
• 42:08
  really
• 42:09
  create
• 42:09
  a
• 42:09
  list
• 42:10
  of
• 42:10
  questions,
• 42:10
  like,
• 42:11
  for
• 42:11
  each
• 42:12
  contractor
• 42:12
  that
• 42:12
  walks,
• 42:13
  have
• 42:13
  you
• 42:13
  ever
• 42:13
  done
• 42:13
  stairs?
• 42:15
  How
• 42:15
  many
• 42:15
  tile
• 42:15
  jobs
• 42:16
  have
• 42:16
  you
• 42:16
  done?
• 42:17
  Are
• 42:17
  you
• 42:17
  familiar
• 42:18
  with
• 42:18
  Viking
• 42:19
  appliances?
• 42:20
  Whatever
• 42:20
  it
• 42:20
  is,
• 42:21
  get
• 42:21
  really
• 42:21
  specific
• 42:22
  about
• 42:22
  your
• 42:22
  plan,
• 42:23
  and
• 42:23
  it
• 42:24
  leaves
• 42:24
  way
• 42:24
  less
• 42:25
  room
• 42:25
  for
• 42:25
  error.
• 42:25
  So
• 42:26
  it's
• 42:26
  super,
• 42:26
  super
• 42:27
  important.
• 42:28
  Take
• 42:28
  your
• 42:28
  time.
• 42:29
  Don't
• 42:29
  rush
• 42:29
  your
• 42:29
  project
• 42:30
  because
• 42:30
  you
• 42:30
  want
• 42:30
  it
• 42:30
  done
• 42:31
  by
• 42:31
  Thanksgiving.
• 42:32
  You'll
• 42:32
  regret
• 42:33
  it.
• 42:33
  Plan
• 42:34
  a
• 42:34
  good
• 42:35
  plan
• 42:36
  and
• 42:36
  you'll
• 42:37
  know
• 42:37
  where
• 42:37
  the
• 42:37
  holes
• 42:37
  are
• 42:38
  in
• 42:38
  the
• 42:38
  contractor's
• 42:39
  story.
• 42:39
  That
• 42:40
  way.
• 42:40
  Make
• 42:40
  some
• 42:40
  squirm.
• 42:41
  I
• 42:41
  like
• 42:41
  watching.
• 42:42
  Yeah,
• 42:42
  exactly.
• 42:43
  And
• 42:43
  then
• 42:44
  yet,
• 42:44
  do
• 42:44
  the
• 42:44
  online
• 42:45
  research.
• 42:45
  Find
• 42:46
  out.
• 42:46
  See
• 42:46
  what
• 42:46
  you
• 42:46
  will
• 42:46
  see
• 42:47
  what
• 42:47
  you
• 42:47
  see
• 42:47
  out
• 42:47
  there.
• 42:48
  Take
• 42:48
  a
• 42:48
  look
• 42:48
  and
• 42:48
  see.
• 42:49
  Are
• 42:49
  they
• 42:49
  coming
• 42:49
  up
• 42:50
  on
• 42:50
  good
• 42:50
  projects?
• 42:51
  Are
• 42:51
  your
• 42:51
  friends
• 42:51
  showing
• 42:52
  up
• 42:52
  pictures
• 42:52
  of
• 42:53
  their
• 42:53
  stuff?
• 42:53
  And
• 42:53
  like
• 42:54
  you
• 42:54
  said
• 42:54
  earlier,
• 42:54
  check
• 42:55
  the
• 42:55
  website.
• 42:56
  That
• 42:56
  almost
• 42:56
  sounds
• 42:56
  like
• 42:56
  a
• 42:57
  sponsor.
• 42:57
  We
• 42:57
  could
• 42:57
  have
• 42:57
  slid
• 42:58
  that
• 42:58
  sponsor
• 42:58
  and
• 42:58
  brought
• 42:59
  to
• 42:59
  you
• 42:59
  by
• 42:59
  Side
• 43:00
  Eye
• 43:00
  Designs.
• 43:01
  All
• 43:01
  you
• 43:01
  contractors
• 43:02
  out
• 43:02
  there
• 43:02
  with
• 43:03
  a
• 43:03
  website
• 43:03
  that
• 43:03
  looks
• 43:04
  built
• 43:05
  on
• 43:05
  Netscape
• 43:06
  better
• 43:06
  be
• 43:06
  sending
• 43:07
  me
• 43:07
  a
• 43:07
  message
• 43:07
  so
• 43:07
  we
• 43:08
  can
• 43:08
  get
• 43:08
  you
• 43:08
  looking
• 43:08
  legit.
• 43:09
  Geez,
• 43:10
  I
• 43:10
  just
• 43:10
  turned
• 43:10
  into
• 43:10
  the
• 43:10
  heckle
• 43:11
  fish
• 43:11
  there.
• 43:11
  What's
• 43:11
  going
• 43:12
  on?
• 43:13
  Where's
• 43:14
  my
• 43:14
  kazoo?
• 43:14
  Where's
• 43:15
  my
• 43:15
  kazoo?
• 43:15
  Where's
• 43:16
  your
• 43:16
  kazoo?
• 43:17
  I
• 43:17
  love
• 43:18
  it,
• 43:18
  brother.
• 43:18
  Yeah,
• 43:18
  guys,
• 43:18
  just
• 43:19
  do
• 43:19
  your
• 43:19
  research.
• 43:20
  And
• 43:20
  when
• 43:20
  in
• 43:21
  doubt,
• 43:21
  if
• 43:21
  you
• 43:21
  have
• 43:21
  a
• 43:22
  state
• 43:22
  licensing
• 43:23
  agency,
• 43:24
  reach
• 43:24
  out
• 43:24
  to
• 43:24
  them
• 43:24
  to
• 43:25
  see
• 43:25
  what
• 43:25
  they
• 43:25
  say.
• 43:25
  If
• 43:26
  they
• 43:26
  take
• 43:26
  phone
• 43:27
  calls,
• 43:27
  use
• 43:27
  them
• 43:28
  as
• 43:28
  a
• 43:28
  resource.
• 43:29
  Those
• 43:29
  people
• 43:29
  are
• 43:30
  sitting
• 43:30
  in
• 43:30
  there
• 43:30
  doing
• 43:30
  their
• 43:31
  thing
• 43:31
  in
• 43:31
  my
• 43:32
  area.
• 43:32
  Probably
• 43:32
  half
• 43:33
  the
• 43:33
  states
• 43:33
  out
• 43:33
  there
• 43:33
  have
• 43:34
  some
• 43:34
  kind
• 43:34
  of
• 43:34
  research
• 43:35
  that
• 43:35
  way.
• 43:36
  And
• 43:36
  then
• 43:36
  the
• 43:36
  other
• 43:36
  thing
• 43:37
  is
• 43:37
  to,
• 43:38
  if
• 43:38
  you're
• 43:38
  worried
• 43:39
  about,
• 43:40
  make
• 43:40
  sure
• 43:40
  that
• 43:40
  the
• 43:41
  things
• 43:41
  are
• 43:41
  consistent.
• 43:42
  If
• 43:42
  they
• 43:42
  give
• 43:42
  me
• 43:42
  a
• 43:43
  business
• 43:43
  card,
• 43:43
  does
• 43:43
  it
• 43:43
  look
• 43:44
  like
• 43:44
  a
• 43:44
  real
• 43:44
  business
• 43:44
  card?
• 43:45
  Does
• 43:45
  it
• 43:45
  look
• 43:46
  like
• 43:46
  these
• 43:46
  guys
• 43:46
  work?
• 43:46
  And
• 43:47
  when
• 43:47
  in
• 43:47
  doubt,
• 43:48
  jump
• 43:49
  online
• 43:49
  and
• 43:49
  find
• 43:49
  the
• 43:50
  business
• 43:50
  owner
• 43:50
  and
• 43:50
  make
• 43:51
  sure
• 43:51
  that
• 43:51
  these
• 43:51
  people
• 43:51
  actually
• 43:52
  work
• 43:52
  for
• 43:52
  them.
• 43:53
  I
• 43:53
  have
• 43:53
  seen
• 43:53
  people
• 43:54
  out
• 43:54
  there
• 43:54
  that
• 43:54
  have
• 43:55
  off
• 43:55
  of
• 43:55
  the
• 43:55
  social
• 43:56
  media
• 43:56
  pages,
• 43:56
  at
• 43:57
  least
• 43:57
  that
• 43:57
  have
• 43:58
  taken
• 43:58
  somebody
• 43:58
  else's
• 43:59
  contractor's
• 44:00
  license
• 44:00
  number
• 44:00
  and
• 44:01
  is
• 44:01
  copying
• 44:01
  it,
• 44:02
  and
• 44:02
  they're
• 44:02
  out
• 44:02
  there
• 44:02
  trying
• 44:03
  to
• 44:03
  say
• 44:03
  they're
• 44:03
  with
• 44:04
  ABC
• 44:04
  Construction
• 44:05
  and
• 44:05
  they're
• 44:05
  not,
• 44:06
  but
• 44:06
  they
• 44:07
  go
• 44:07
  out
• 44:07
  and
• 44:07
  start
• 44:07
  ABC
• 44:08
  Contracting
• 44:10
  so
• 44:10
  they
• 44:10
  can
• 44:10
  get
• 44:10
  the
• 44:10
  check
• 44:11
  in
• 44:11
  the.
• 44:11
  But
• 44:11
  the
• 44:12
  bank
• 44:12
  and
• 44:12
  that
• 44:13
  stuff
• 44:13
  happens.
• 44:13
  So
• 44:14
  be
• 44:14
  careful,
• 44:14
  do
• 44:15
  your
• 44:15
  research.
• 44:15
  Johnny,
• 44:16
  thanks
• 44:16
  for
• 44:16
  coming
• 44:16
  on
• 44:16
  the
• 44:16
  show
• 44:17
  today,
• 44:17
  brother.
• 44:17
  It
• 44:17
  has
• 44:17
  been
• 44:18
  awesome.
• 44:18
  I
• 44:19
  love
• 44:19
  it.
• 44:19
  I
• 44:19
  love
• 44:19
  it.
• 44:20
  And
• 44:20
  I'll
• 44:20
  be
• 44:20
  here
• 44:21
  anytime
• 44:21
  you'll
• 44:21
  have
• 44:22
  me,
• 44:22
  brother.
• 44:22
  I
• 44:22
  appreciate
• 44:23
  it,
• 44:23
  man.
• 44:23
  It's
• 44:23
  a
• 44:24
  lot
• 44:24
  of
• 44:24
  fun
• 44:24
  and
• 44:24
  it's
• 44:25
  always
• 44:25
  great
• 44:25
  hanging
• 44:26
  out
• 44:26
  and
• 44:26
  providing
• 44:27
  some
• 44:27
  value
• 44:27
  and
• 44:27
  being.
• 44:27
  Trying
• 44:28
  to
• 44:28
  help
• 44:28
  people
• 44:28
  here
• 44:28
  and
• 44:29
  getting
• 44:29
  things
• 44:29
  done
• 44:30
  right,
• 44:30
  not
• 44:30
  getting
• 44:30
  burned
• 44:31
  and.
• 44:31
  Yeah,
• 44:31
  no,
• 44:31
  we
• 44:32
  want
• 44:32
  to
• 44:32
  appreciate
• 44:32
  it,
• 44:32
  man.
• 44:33
  Look
• 44:33
  forward
• 44:33
  to
• 44:33
  the
• 44:33
  next
• 44:34
  time.
• 44:34
  Thanks
• 44:34
  for
• 44:34
  tuning
• 44:35
  in
• 44:35
  to
• 44:35
  around
• 44:35
  the
• 44:35
  House.
• 44:35
  We'll
• 44:36
  see
• 44:36
  you
• 44:36
  next
• 44:36
  week.
