- WEBVTT 00:00:11.500 --> 00:00:14.279 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome into episode two 00:00:14.279 --> 00:00:17.239 of my brand new podcast tables, tailgates and 00:00:17.239 --> 00:00:21.120 top loaders. I am your host TB, AKA Tim Beardsley. 00:00:21.140 --> 00:00:24.500 Now, if you're here off the heels of the debut 00:00:24.500 --> 00:00:27.559 episode, I cannot thank you enough. It is much 00:00:27.559 --> 00:00:30.519 appreciated. If this is your first time, I encourage 00:00:30.519 --> 00:00:33.039 you to go back, check out that debut. It kind 00:00:33.039 --> 00:00:35.439 of breaks down what we're doing here with this 00:00:35.439 --> 00:00:37.799 podcast. But each and every week we're going 00:00:37.799 --> 00:00:39.659 to talk about the bills. We're going to talk 00:00:39.659 --> 00:00:41.439 about professional wrestling and we're going 00:00:41.439 --> 00:00:44.920 to talk about the world of cardboard. That's 00:00:44.920 --> 00:00:47.259 right. Collecting cards, sports cards, trading 00:00:47.259 --> 00:00:49.320 cards, whatever cards you want to talk about. 00:00:49.759 --> 00:00:51.640 We're here to talk about it. These hobbies are 00:00:51.640 --> 00:00:54.439 awesome. They are definitely something I love 00:00:54.439 --> 00:00:57.780 and it's worth talking about. So I'm glad you're 00:00:57.780 --> 00:00:59.759 here. This is the only podcast where we can talk 00:00:59.759 --> 00:01:02.159 about all three of those things in the same episode. 00:01:02.359 --> 00:01:04.459 and have a lot of fun doing so. So let's get 00:01:04.459 --> 00:01:06.519 started. Let's jump into the world of the squared 00:01:06.519 --> 00:01:10.180 circle. Wrestling fans, how the heck are we feeling 00:01:10.180 --> 00:01:12.739 this week? A lot of things going on. But I want 00:01:12.739 --> 00:01:15.700 to talk about what is going on with R -Truth. 00:01:15.939 --> 00:01:18.540 The report came out that his contract is not 00:01:18.540 --> 00:01:20.620 going to be renewed. And this is coming right 00:01:20.620 --> 00:01:23.680 off of his big Saturday night main event match 00:01:23.680 --> 00:01:28.359 against the champ, heel, John Cena, his icon, 00:01:28.719 --> 00:01:31.120 childhood hero, if you will. The match. Well, 00:01:31.480 --> 00:01:34.359 the match was definitely better than the WrestleMania 00:01:34.359 --> 00:01:38.079 nonsense that Cena put out, but it still wasn't 00:01:38.079 --> 00:01:40.620 the greatest. But shortly after, I think about 00:01:40.620 --> 00:01:43.700 a week after that match, it was revealed that 00:01:43.700 --> 00:01:46.760 he is done with the company. And this kind of 00:01:46.760 --> 00:01:49.180 sent shockwaves throughout the world of professional 00:01:49.180 --> 00:01:53.200 wrestling. Now, WWE has been cutting a ton of 00:01:53.200 --> 00:01:55.480 talent in the last few months. I know about a 00:01:55.480 --> 00:01:58.219 month ago, they laid off a bunch of people. Kota 00:01:58.219 --> 00:02:00.700 Kai, Braun Strowman were some of the major players 00:02:00.700 --> 00:02:03.359 there, but the list goes on and on. So when it 00:02:03.359 --> 00:02:06.180 came out that Truth was no longer going to be 00:02:06.180 --> 00:02:08.680 signed, it kind of upset a lot of people. I know 00:02:08.680 --> 00:02:11.340 there were people in the locker room wearing 00:02:11.340 --> 00:02:13.639 his merchandise. There were crowds that were 00:02:13.639 --> 00:02:16.539 definitely vocal with their chants in support 00:02:16.539 --> 00:02:19.919 of Truth during the last two live tapings. And 00:02:19.919 --> 00:02:22.580 it doesn't really make sense, if you ask me. 00:02:22.740 --> 00:02:26.210 I'm not saying... 53 year old our truth aka Ron 00:02:26.210 --> 00:02:29.229 killings should be the world champion No, he 00:02:29.229 --> 00:02:30.969 shouldn't have beaten Cena. That's not what I'm 00:02:30.969 --> 00:02:33.810 suggesting but there is definitely a place for 00:02:33.810 --> 00:02:37.689 him in the WWE and I am shocked that they let 00:02:37.689 --> 00:02:41.430 him go. So let's break down his career and Figure 00:02:41.430 --> 00:02:43.469 out what the heck is going on. If you know anything 00:02:43.469 --> 00:02:46.659 about him He's had a very long career with the 00:02:46.659 --> 00:02:48.860 WWE. He actually debuted all the way back in 00:02:48.860 --> 00:02:52.620 1998, came into the scene as a wrestler by the 00:02:52.620 --> 00:02:54.879 name of Kay Quick. If you remember anything about 00:02:54.879 --> 00:02:58.500 this, this was very interesting. He was a rapper. 00:02:58.860 --> 00:03:01.419 He came in, he tagged with different people, 00:03:01.659 --> 00:03:06.719 but him and the road dog actually had like a 00:03:06.719 --> 00:03:08.639 wrapping thing going on back then. So that was 00:03:08.639 --> 00:03:10.819 very interesting, but he lasted for about three 00:03:10.819 --> 00:03:14.560 years in the WWE at the time. Did some stuff, 00:03:14.840 --> 00:03:17.219 didn't really make too big of an impact. And 00:03:17.219 --> 00:03:21.919 then from about 2002 to 2007, he went to NWA 00:03:21.919 --> 00:03:26.919 TNA, where he actually won the World Heavyweight 00:03:26.919 --> 00:03:29.419 Championship, had a match against Ken Shamrock. 00:03:29.659 --> 00:03:32.580 Now, if you remember Ken Shamrock, he had quite 00:03:32.580 --> 00:03:36.340 the run with WWE a while back. He was a pretty 00:03:36.340 --> 00:03:39.479 good wrestler. Truth actually faced Shamrock 00:03:39.479 --> 00:03:42.909 for the title. the nwa world heavyweight championship 00:03:42.909 --> 00:03:45.590 and he won it as well as winning various tag 00:03:45.590 --> 00:03:49.009 team titles during his run there and then fast 00:03:49.009 --> 00:03:53.150 forward to about 2008 he resigned with the wwe 00:03:53.150 --> 00:03:56.710 and he's been with them ever since so 17 years 00:03:56.710 --> 00:04:00.770 that's a long time and as i said he now is 53 00:04:00.770 --> 00:04:03.610 um but he's had a good run he obviously changed 00:04:03.610 --> 00:04:06.330 his name so he became our truth, but he's been 00:04:06.330 --> 00:04:09.169 involved in some pretty crazy off -the -wall 00:04:09.169 --> 00:04:13.030 zany storylines. He definitely has a place in 00:04:13.030 --> 00:04:15.490 wrestling. So what is the point of wrestling, 00:04:15.849 --> 00:04:17.529 right? We kind of talked about it last week. 00:04:17.769 --> 00:04:20.550 I watch wrestling to kind of take my mind off 00:04:20.550 --> 00:04:23.129 of the crap of the world and to just kind of 00:04:23.129 --> 00:04:25.790 disconnect and to chill out and to just have 00:04:25.790 --> 00:04:29.439 a good time. We compare it to a soap opera. And 00:04:29.439 --> 00:04:31.980 there's different characters that kind of need 00:04:31.980 --> 00:04:35.980 to be involved in the stories. It would be really 00:04:35.980 --> 00:04:38.660 boring. It would be really kind of stupid if 00:04:38.660 --> 00:04:41.540 every character was the same. What do I mean 00:04:41.540 --> 00:04:45.620 by that? If you watched a match and it was the 00:04:45.620 --> 00:04:47.939 same moves over and over and over again, it was 00:04:47.939 --> 00:04:50.740 the same type of character. There was no variety. 00:04:51.180 --> 00:04:53.560 It would be boring as hell. And you would you 00:04:53.560 --> 00:04:56.879 would turn it off. Wrestling is more like a variety 00:04:56.879 --> 00:05:00.339 show. using professional athletes, professional 00:05:00.339 --> 00:05:03.459 wrestlers. There definitely are types of wrestlers. 00:05:03.660 --> 00:05:06.439 So you look at historically, you got your technicians 00:05:06.439 --> 00:05:09.680 guys like Bret Hart. He's not going to come in 00:05:09.680 --> 00:05:11.459 there and he's not going to do these super high 00:05:11.459 --> 00:05:14.079 flying moves like a luchador. But then you have 00:05:14.079 --> 00:05:16.480 Rey Mysterio and guys like that. And then you 00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:19.259 have your big huge powerhouses, your your your 00:05:19.259 --> 00:05:22.420 giants. So like your great colleagues, your big 00:05:22.420 --> 00:05:25.779 shows, your Andre the Giants. The guys that are 00:05:25.779 --> 00:05:29.259 actual spectacles then you have like you're all 00:05:29.259 --> 00:05:32.860 -around just superstar wrestlers. So your Roman 00:05:32.860 --> 00:05:37.600 Reigns your Rocks things like that, but you also 00:05:37.600 --> 00:05:40.600 need to have what I call comedic wrestlers because 00:05:40.600 --> 00:05:44.399 I think this is a lost art Comedic wrestlers 00:05:44.399 --> 00:05:47.279 have a huge place in the world of professional 00:05:47.279 --> 00:05:50.399 professional wrestling and I think our truth 00:05:50.399 --> 00:05:54.449 fine -tuned his craft over the last 20 years 00:05:54.449 --> 00:05:57.990 to become in my opinion One of the best comedic 00:05:57.990 --> 00:06:00.370 wrestlers there is so what I wanted to do was 00:06:00.370 --> 00:06:03.329 kind of look back and Talk about some of these 00:06:03.329 --> 00:06:05.790 comedic wrestlers and how there is a huge need 00:06:05.790 --> 00:06:08.970 for them moving forward and historically like 00:06:08.970 --> 00:06:12.629 I look back and some of the early ones I Thought 00:06:12.629 --> 00:06:14.889 really stood out you had your hillbilly gym your 00:06:14.889 --> 00:06:18.310 bushwhackers. These guys were very overt with 00:06:18.310 --> 00:06:21.529 their comedic performances and then you had in 00:06:21.529 --> 00:06:24.240 my opinion one of the greatest managers, Bobby 00:06:24.240 --> 00:06:27.060 Heenan, some of the stuff he said, some of the 00:06:27.060 --> 00:06:30.180 things he did. It's crazy. If you ever go back 00:06:30.180 --> 00:06:33.660 and watch some Heenan skits, this guy was awesome. 00:06:34.759 --> 00:06:37.459 And I think characters like that are definitely 00:06:37.459 --> 00:06:41.199 missing. But then fast forward into the nineties, 00:06:42.220 --> 00:06:44.620 um, your Mick Foley's, I know he had that hardcore 00:06:44.620 --> 00:06:47.100 side where he was, you know, getting thrown off 00:06:47.100 --> 00:06:50.480 hell in a cell and chair shots and thumbnails 00:06:50.480 --> 00:06:54.129 and barbed wire matches and all kinds of crazy 00:06:54.129 --> 00:06:58.250 stuff but he also then transitioned into like 00:06:58.250 --> 00:07:02.709 the faces of Foley gig where he acted and and 00:07:02.709 --> 00:07:05.810 just had a completely different side other than 00:07:05.810 --> 00:07:09.230 the hardcore hardcore aspect of it. And he was 00:07:09.230 --> 00:07:11.410 a very comedic wrestler towards the end of his 00:07:11.410 --> 00:07:13.470 career, like the Rock and Sock connection, things 00:07:13.470 --> 00:07:16.310 like that, like the timing of the jokes and the 00:07:16.310 --> 00:07:19.329 timing of the moves and the different props that 00:07:19.329 --> 00:07:23.649 these guys would use. It really led to contributing 00:07:23.649 --> 00:07:26.509 to the show in a much different way than a lot 00:07:26.509 --> 00:07:29.170 of your other superstars. And these are absolutely 00:07:29.170 --> 00:07:31.329 needed in the world of professional wrestling. 00:07:31.589 --> 00:07:34.550 Kurt Angle, Kurt Angle came in as an Olympic 00:07:34.550 --> 00:07:38.110 champion and he was a very serious wrestler and 00:07:38.589 --> 00:07:42.750 for the first part, he was all business. And 00:07:42.750 --> 00:07:44.889 then at some point he started to change when 00:07:44.889 --> 00:07:48.990 he started to deal with Steve Austin. And he 00:07:48.990 --> 00:07:54.129 developed an awesome comedic side with the miniature 00:07:54.129 --> 00:07:57.610 cowboy hats and the ukulele and just skits with 00:07:57.610 --> 00:07:59.910 edging Christian and things like that. Like during 00:07:59.910 --> 00:08:03.920 that run. Kurt Angle was like comedic gold. Again, 00:08:03.920 --> 00:08:06.420 you don't see that kind of stuff right now. Also, 00:08:06.420 --> 00:08:08.939 if you remember a character called the hurricane, 00:08:09.040 --> 00:08:12.639 the hurricane was this bit player, he would do 00:08:12.639 --> 00:08:15.540 some crazy stuff like just appear out of nowhere 00:08:15.540 --> 00:08:19.160 and do like act like a superhero and then go 00:08:19.160 --> 00:08:21.819 on and get his ass kicked. And it was just hilarious. 00:08:21.819 --> 00:08:25.579 It was funny and definitely needed. So then you 00:08:25.579 --> 00:08:28.040 look at our truth and how he developed and kind 00:08:28.040 --> 00:08:31.910 of evolved over the years. from this rapping 00:08:31.910 --> 00:08:34.409 persona. And he carried a little bit of that 00:08:34.409 --> 00:08:38.970 on throughout into, you know, his current run. 00:08:39.350 --> 00:08:42.990 But most of that kind of went away. And he developed 00:08:42.990 --> 00:08:46.330 this comedic side where he created these awesome 00:08:46.330 --> 00:08:48.889 tag teams like the awesome truth with the Miz. 00:08:48.929 --> 00:08:51.429 That was a great run. And then of course, the 00:08:51.429 --> 00:08:54.250 skits with little Jimmy and basically talking 00:08:54.250 --> 00:08:56.490 to an imaginary person that he assumed everyone 00:08:56.490 --> 00:09:01.860 else. Saw he had he had just great great parts 00:09:01.860 --> 00:09:04.919 like the current one when he thought He was a 00:09:04.919 --> 00:09:07.220 member of the Judgment Day and like looking back 00:09:07.220 --> 00:09:10.519 and watching those skits it's it's needed because 00:09:10.519 --> 00:09:14.820 it breaks up kind of the monotony of an overly 00:09:14.820 --> 00:09:19.179 serious Everyone's out to kill each other time 00:09:19.179 --> 00:09:21.919 after time story after story like he broke that 00:09:21.919 --> 00:09:24.440 up and he allowed you to kind of catch your breath 00:09:24.440 --> 00:09:27.990 and reset and cleanse your palate, if you will, 00:09:28.070 --> 00:09:30.870 before getting back into some of the other main 00:09:30.870 --> 00:09:34.230 stories. And it's just a needed part in the world 00:09:34.230 --> 00:09:37.169 of professional wrestling. So our truth is awesome. 00:09:37.450 --> 00:09:40.090 I mean, I kind of pulled up his Wikipedia page. 00:09:40.750 --> 00:09:43.730 He was a two time US champ. He was a two time 00:09:43.730 --> 00:09:45.350 hardcore champ. Now they don't have that belt 00:09:45.350 --> 00:09:49.309 anymore. That's long gone. And then he won the 00:09:49.309 --> 00:09:53.230 tag championship twice. The last one was with 00:09:53.230 --> 00:09:56.370 the Miz two wrestle manias ago. So I think it's 00:09:56.370 --> 00:09:59.509 wrestle mania 40 They had a ladder match our 00:09:59.509 --> 00:10:02.149 truth reunited won the tag belts And I think 00:10:02.149 --> 00:10:04.149 they kept them for like two months after wrestle 00:10:04.149 --> 00:10:06.970 mania, but it was an awesome moment The crowd 00:10:06.970 --> 00:10:09.990 popped huge. They went crazy. It was just a great 00:10:09.990 --> 00:10:13.309 story and everybody loved it And then if you 00:10:13.309 --> 00:10:16.710 all remember they had a belt called the 24 7 00:10:16.710 --> 00:10:22.379 championship now this belt was strictly for a 00:10:22.379 --> 00:10:25.399 comedy angle. It was the most unserious belt 00:10:25.399 --> 00:10:28.500 ever invented. And it was kind of funny because 00:10:28.500 --> 00:10:31.740 they would have records for the shortest title 00:10:31.740 --> 00:10:34.919 reigns. I mean, we're talking three seconds, 00:10:35.120 --> 00:10:38.299 five seconds, an hour. This belt could be defended 00:10:38.299 --> 00:10:43.000 and had to be defended 24 seven. So some of the 00:10:43.100 --> 00:10:46.500 Backstage segments involving this belt and our 00:10:46.500 --> 00:10:48.860 truth and the whole list of cast of characters 00:10:48.860 --> 00:10:53.620 From celebrities to you know, just random people 00:10:53.620 --> 00:10:55.759 that would be involved on an episode of raw or 00:10:55.759 --> 00:10:58.580 smackdown It was it was kind of crazy and it 00:10:58.580 --> 00:11:01.399 went back before I think even different women 00:11:01.399 --> 00:11:04.059 were getting involved in it But he won the 24 00:11:04.059 --> 00:11:09.539 -7 title 54 times I think about that for a second 00:11:09.539 --> 00:11:13.080 54 times that means that this belt was on TV 00:11:13.070 --> 00:11:15.769 a lot and it was a part of a lot of storylines 00:11:15.769 --> 00:11:21.570 so that's a pretty cool important aspect to be 00:11:21.570 --> 00:11:25.830 playing in the world of professional wrestling 00:11:25.830 --> 00:11:28.110 and it's important because i look at the roster 00:11:28.110 --> 00:11:31.629 now and with our truth not being around anymore 00:11:31.629 --> 00:11:35.470 i'm assuming um now maybe they change their mind 00:11:35.470 --> 00:11:37.649 and they go back and they try to renegotiate 00:11:37.649 --> 00:11:40.480 but If you look at the roster now, there's really 00:11:40.480 --> 00:11:44.100 not a lot of people who can take up this mantle 00:11:44.100 --> 00:11:47.080 and carry the torch of being a comedic wrestler. 00:11:47.559 --> 00:11:51.980 Now, obviously, if you look at Otis, he has that 00:11:51.980 --> 00:11:55.279 a little bit, but he's very one lane. All right. 00:11:55.279 --> 00:11:58.360 So he plays the big guy, the lovable big guy 00:11:58.360 --> 00:12:02.000 who dances around, does the worm, does a couple 00:12:02.000 --> 00:12:04.279 of funny things, but he doesn't really talk. 00:12:04.980 --> 00:12:07.960 So there's not a lot of depth there. And it's 00:12:07.960 --> 00:12:10.100 the same thing over and over again. What you 00:12:10.100 --> 00:12:12.120 see is what you get. Now, I love him. I think 00:12:12.120 --> 00:12:14.379 he's great. I think he has a role, but it's not 00:12:14.379 --> 00:12:16.779 what I'm talking about as far as picking up and 00:12:16.779 --> 00:12:19.659 carrying on the comedic torch. I don't think 00:12:19.659 --> 00:12:21.700 he has the capability. Now, maybe I'm wrong, 00:12:21.779 --> 00:12:25.919 but the only other one I could see being in the 00:12:25.919 --> 00:12:31.000 same realm, the same universes like Kurt Angle, 00:12:31.220 --> 00:12:34.799 Mick Foley. Oh, I forgot one one one. I absolutely 00:12:34.799 --> 00:12:38.720 forgot to mention Santino Marella this guy was 00:12:38.720 --> 00:12:43.080 exactly what I'm talking about so he was comedic 00:12:43.080 --> 00:12:48.519 gold and He got the crowd so invested that You 00:12:48.519 --> 00:12:51.080 wanted to see him when no matter what no matter 00:12:51.080 --> 00:12:54.580 if you I think there was a rumble match and he 00:12:54.580 --> 00:12:57.639 came down to be like the last I have to look 00:12:57.639 --> 00:13:00.970 it up, but the whole place was thinking he was 00:13:00.970 --> 00:13:03.070 going to win this Royal Rumble and then of course 00:13:03.070 --> 00:13:06.470 he loses at the very end and it was awesome but 00:13:06.470 --> 00:13:09.629 he had the uh the Cobra so he had this similar 00:13:09.629 --> 00:13:14.090 to like McFauldy's uh Mr. Socko character. Morella 00:13:14.090 --> 00:13:19.110 had Santino had a uh a green sock that he shoved 00:13:19.110 --> 00:13:22.850 in his uh his outfit his singlet and it looked 00:13:22.850 --> 00:13:25.450 like a green Cobra so he would put it on his 00:13:25.450 --> 00:13:28.889 hand and you know kind of Make the Cobra come 00:13:28.889 --> 00:13:32.090 to life and then he would He would hit you strike 00:13:32.090 --> 00:13:34.350 you in the face and it was it was awesome and 00:13:34.350 --> 00:13:36.509 you everybody laughed everybody thought it was 00:13:36.509 --> 00:13:39.409 the coolest thing ever and I can't believe I 00:13:39.409 --> 00:13:41.149 forgot to talk about that one earlier, but it 00:13:41.149 --> 00:13:44.370 just popped in my head Santino was awesome. And 00:13:44.370 --> 00:13:46.210 so like that's that's what I'm talking about 00:13:46.210 --> 00:13:49.070 You need to have somebody like that on your roster 00:13:49.070 --> 00:13:53.009 to break up the monotony to kind of break up 00:13:53.009 --> 00:13:56.929 the seriousness and to round out your show So 00:13:56.929 --> 00:13:58.690 the only other one I could think of on the roster 00:13:58.690 --> 00:14:01.330 currently would be, in my opinion, Chad Gable. 00:14:01.389 --> 00:14:03.929 Now I think he's doing great stuff. He wrestles 00:14:03.929 --> 00:14:06.570 under Chad Gable, obviously, but he also has 00:14:06.570 --> 00:14:10.110 this El Grande Americano gimmick that he's doing 00:14:10.110 --> 00:14:13.090 where he dons the luchador mask. He went off 00:14:13.090 --> 00:14:15.870 to Mexico to learn the ways of the luchador. 00:14:16.389 --> 00:14:21.190 And it's funny. And so he's a bad guy. So if 00:14:21.190 --> 00:14:24.690 they can tap into this, I think he has the potential 00:14:24.690 --> 00:14:30.090 to be Amazing comedic wrestler if he wants to 00:14:30.090 --> 00:14:32.429 do it and if they really kind of lean into it 00:14:32.429 --> 00:14:34.750 They haven't so far because he's very he's like 00:14:34.750 --> 00:14:37.049 towing the line between serious and comedic But 00:14:37.049 --> 00:14:39.629 I think he has the potential to actually pull 00:14:39.629 --> 00:14:42.129 it off other than that. There's not a lot of 00:14:42.129 --> 00:14:45.309 people on this roster That can do it now. I know 00:14:45.309 --> 00:14:48.730 Sami Zayn. He's lovable He can be funny, but 00:14:48.730 --> 00:14:51.149 I don't see him leaning all the way into the 00:14:51.149 --> 00:14:53.809 comedic role that our truth did so it's kind 00:14:53.809 --> 00:14:56.879 of disappointing and He's definitely going to 00:14:56.879 --> 00:15:01.360 be missed on this roster. If this is the last 00:15:01.360 --> 00:15:04.820 we see of our truth in the WWE, wish him well. 00:15:04.899 --> 00:15:07.840 He's had a great run. I do think he still has 00:15:07.840 --> 00:15:10.700 some miles left on the tread. I think he can 00:15:10.700 --> 00:15:13.700 have a great - Another couple years like the 00:15:13.700 --> 00:15:16.820 guy's 53, but he is jacked as hell. He looks 00:15:16.820 --> 00:15:19.639 great He's in awesome shape and watching that 00:15:19.639 --> 00:15:22.860 last match with Cena. He looked better than Cena 00:15:22.860 --> 00:15:25.919 I'm sorry to tell you folks Cena does not look 00:15:25.919 --> 00:15:29.419 very good anymore We can talk about that in another 00:15:29.419 --> 00:15:32.799 pod, but truth can still go he can still wrestle 00:15:32.919 --> 00:15:37.159 And so I think he can bring a lot to any wrestling 00:15:37.159 --> 00:15:40.320 company. So whether he decides to go to AEW or 00:15:40.320 --> 00:15:42.960 maybe he goes back to TNA. Maybe he finishes 00:15:42.960 --> 00:15:45.720 out his career with another run at TNA. I would 00:15:45.720 --> 00:15:48.559 love to see him be successful and do something 00:15:48.559 --> 00:15:51.399 like that. But we shall see. But here's to you 00:15:51.399 --> 00:15:54.799 our truth. It's been a good run. I've enjoyed 00:15:54.799 --> 00:15:57.460 watching you through your career and gonna miss 00:15:57.460 --> 00:16:00.779 you. So what else we want to talk about? What 00:16:00.779 --> 00:16:03.909 else we feeling? Well, it's a... It is the season 00:16:03.909 --> 00:16:06.409 for money in the bank. So what I kind of wanted 00:16:06.409 --> 00:16:11.210 to do was take a look down memory lane and every 00:16:11.210 --> 00:16:14.470 week I want to try to hit up either a nostalgic 00:16:14.470 --> 00:16:18.970 game of the bills, a nostalgic time in the card 00:16:18.970 --> 00:16:23.450 collecting history or a historic match that I 00:16:23.450 --> 00:16:26.110 want to go back and kind of dissect and look 00:16:26.110 --> 00:16:28.240 at. So I figured Hey, it's money in the bank 00:16:28.240 --> 00:16:30.340 season. Let's go back to the original money in 00:16:30.340 --> 00:16:33.519 the bank match And see what got us to this point 00:16:33.519 --> 00:16:35.980 here in 2025. So the first money in the bank 00:16:35.980 --> 00:16:39.559 match ever Was actually a part of wrestlemania 00:16:39.559 --> 00:16:44.120 21 This goes all the way back to 2005 now. I 00:16:44.120 --> 00:16:48.019 just rewatched this match I've seen this match 00:16:48.019 --> 00:16:51.019 probably a bunch of times But you know, it kind 00:16:51.019 --> 00:16:54.019 of gets lost as you try to remember all the matches. 00:16:54.019 --> 00:16:56.039 I have a hard time. So I have to go back and 00:16:56.059 --> 00:16:59.860 and rewatch stuff but Eric Bischoff was the general 00:16:59.860 --> 00:17:03.919 manager at the time and Chris Jericho actually 00:17:03.919 --> 00:17:07.039 with extremely short hair he actually proposed 00:17:07.039 --> 00:17:11.019 this match to Eric Bischoff and then in a backstage 00:17:11.019 --> 00:17:14.519 segment Eric Bischoff brought in five of the 00:17:14.519 --> 00:17:17.660 six contestants and explained to them how this 00:17:17.660 --> 00:17:19.759 match was going to be what the rules were going 00:17:19.759 --> 00:17:24.549 to be and what you could win If you won, so what 00:17:24.549 --> 00:17:27.309 is a money in the bank match? It is essentially 00:17:27.309 --> 00:17:30.430 an anything goes no holds barred match in which 00:17:30.430 --> 00:17:33.450 a briefcase now this original mat match used 00:17:33.450 --> 00:17:37.029 a Leather briefcase with no writing no nothing 00:17:37.029 --> 00:17:40.190 just a black leather briefcase suspended from 00:17:40.190 --> 00:17:45.230 a hook on a cable in the middle of the ring probably 00:17:45.230 --> 00:17:50.569 anywhere from 12 to 15 feet off the mat so the 00:17:50.569 --> 00:17:53.660 objective of the match was to Beat the crap out 00:17:53.660 --> 00:17:56.579 of your opponents get a ladder set a ladder up 00:17:56.579 --> 00:17:58.480 in the middle of the ring Climb to the top of 00:17:58.480 --> 00:18:00.700 the ladder and unhook the briefcase and whoever 00:18:00.700 --> 00:18:04.099 was able to grab the briefcase Won the match. 00:18:04.119 --> 00:18:06.519 So what's in the briefcase in the briefcase? 00:18:06.519 --> 00:18:09.839 There was a contract that contract allowed you 00:18:09.839 --> 00:18:14.500 to cash in the briefcase if you will at any point 00:18:14.500 --> 00:18:18.000 within the next one Year, so one calendar year 00:18:18.000 --> 00:18:20.759 from the date of the match is what? They alleged 00:18:20.759 --> 00:18:24.839 were the the rules now whether that's ever been 00:18:24.839 --> 00:18:28.180 challenged Who knows but you basically had one 00:18:28.180 --> 00:18:32.180 year to cash in this contract on the world champion 00:18:32.180 --> 00:18:34.619 any champion you want it At least that was my 00:18:34.619 --> 00:18:37.079 understanding but the goal was hey you can basically 00:18:37.079 --> 00:18:40.599 fight The world champion for a match at any time. 00:18:40.799 --> 00:18:43.960 So they set this match up. There were six participants 00:18:43.960 --> 00:18:46.519 They were obviously Chris Jericho. He's the one 00:18:46.519 --> 00:18:49.619 that proposed this match to Bischoff there was 00:18:49.799 --> 00:18:53.759 Christian There was edge. So those two were pretty 00:18:53.759 --> 00:18:56.859 close With a tag team and whatnot. There was 00:18:56.859 --> 00:18:59.640 Chris Benoit who I'm not gonna get into but we'll 00:18:59.640 --> 00:19:02.339 just leave it at that There was Kane the big 00:19:02.339 --> 00:19:05.259 red machine and then last but not least Shelton 00:19:05.259 --> 00:19:08.579 Benjamin now Watching this match back probably 00:19:08.579 --> 00:19:12.640 about 15 18 minutes long. I should have looked 00:19:12.640 --> 00:19:15.960 and gotten an accurate runtime, but Not the longest 00:19:15.960 --> 00:19:19.839 match, but it was good for a debut Money in the 00:19:19.839 --> 00:19:22.079 Bank match. This was a good match. But by far, 00:19:22.220 --> 00:19:24.059 the star of the show was Shelton Benjamin. Now, 00:19:24.059 --> 00:19:26.720 I loved Shelton Benjamin back in the day. He 00:19:26.720 --> 00:19:30.180 was awesome. And he's still wrestling in AEW. 00:19:30.380 --> 00:19:33.579 He's tagging with Bobby Lashley. Yeah, they're 00:19:33.579 --> 00:19:36.400 having to hurt business. It's a cool team. I 00:19:36.400 --> 00:19:38.400 really like them. But Shelton Benjamin back in 00:19:38.400 --> 00:19:41.220 the day was awesome. He has this one spot in 00:19:41.220 --> 00:19:44.319 this match where there's a ladder set up. I'll 00:19:44.319 --> 00:19:47.680 try to describe this. Another ladder was at an 00:19:47.680 --> 00:19:51.079 angle creating almost a ramp from the map from 00:19:51.079 --> 00:19:54.240 the mat until about midway It was hooked into 00:19:54.240 --> 00:19:58.099 this standing ladder. So This ladder was like 00:19:58.099 --> 00:20:02.279 a ramp and he ran up this ladder ramp and did 00:20:02.279 --> 00:20:06.400 a diving clothesline onto I believe it was either 00:20:06.400 --> 00:20:08.980 edge or Christian who was on the backside of 00:20:08.980 --> 00:20:11.980 the standing ladder and he's basically flying 00:20:11.980 --> 00:20:15.210 all over the map all over the mat through How 00:20:15.210 --> 00:20:17.210 he didn't slip and fall through the rungs of 00:20:17.210 --> 00:20:20.349 this ladder was insane. But it was a it was a 00:20:20.349 --> 00:20:23.289 really good debut money in the bank match. My 00:20:23.289 --> 00:20:25.690 hat goes off to him. I just rewatched it. It's 00:20:25.690 --> 00:20:28.190 a bad ass match. If you get a chance, go back. 00:20:28.750 --> 00:20:33.450 WrestleMania 21 2005. And so who wins? None other 00:20:33.450 --> 00:20:36.970 than Edge. Edge wins. The crowd booze them. They 00:20:36.970 --> 00:20:38.569 don't want them to win. They're actually rooting 00:20:38.569 --> 00:20:42.690 for Chris Benoit. So that's a little weird to 00:20:42.690 --> 00:20:46.220 talk about. But Let's move on edge wins. He wins 00:20:46.220 --> 00:20:49.680 this terrible looking briefcase And what does 00:20:49.680 --> 00:20:55.339 he do? He goes on to january 2006 um, so almost 00:20:55.339 --> 00:20:59.160 nine months ten months later and he cashes in 00:20:59.160 --> 00:21:03.180 on the champion john cena and this is A pay -per 00:21:03.180 --> 00:21:06.480 -view called new year's revolution revolution. 00:21:06.480 --> 00:21:09.640 Yeah new year's revolution The main event of 00:21:09.640 --> 00:21:12.730 this match was an elimination chamber match in 00:21:12.730 --> 00:21:16.789 which John Cena retains his title. He's beaten 00:21:16.789 --> 00:21:20.390 to hell. If I remember correctly, he's busted 00:21:20.390 --> 00:21:23.809 open. I can't really remember, but then the show's 00:21:23.809 --> 00:21:27.230 about to end and all of a sudden Edge comes and 00:21:27.230 --> 00:21:31.549 cashes in his briefcase, spears John Cena. Not 00:21:31.549 --> 00:21:34.490 once, Cena kicks out after the first spear, spears 00:21:34.490 --> 00:21:37.849 him again. Spear number two works and he wins 00:21:37.849 --> 00:21:41.170 his first world title match. So there you go. 00:21:41.559 --> 00:21:44.059 There's a review of the very first Money in the 00:21:44.059 --> 00:21:46.720 Bank. Thought it was cool to talk about take 00:21:46.720 --> 00:21:48.579 a trip down memory lane now that Money in the 00:21:48.579 --> 00:21:51.000 Bank season is upon us. So there you have it. 00:21:51.000 --> 00:21:53.119 If you get a chance, go back, check out that 00:21:53.119 --> 00:21:57.019 match. It's pretty cool. And we have come a long 00:21:57.019 --> 00:21:59.759 way in the last 20 years. Now they have their 00:21:59.759 --> 00:22:02.220 own standalone pay review. Can't wait to check 00:22:02.220 --> 00:22:04.920 it out. We will be probably talking about it 00:22:04.920 --> 00:22:08.640 in another episode. So yeah, that wraps up that 00:22:08.640 --> 00:22:11.980 wraps up the wrestling portion. So. Bill's Mafia. 00:22:12.240 --> 00:22:14.720 Lots to talk about this week. How we feeling? 00:22:15.900 --> 00:22:17.799 There are a lot of stories to talk about, but 00:22:17.799 --> 00:22:20.380 I think I want to start with the negative. So 00:22:20.380 --> 00:22:23.380 Joey freaking Bossa. Yeah, this story came out 00:22:23.380 --> 00:22:25.619 about a week ago. Now, if you don't know Joey 00:22:25.619 --> 00:22:29.779 Bossa, defensive end, the Bills signed him in 00:22:29.779 --> 00:22:32.539 the off season. He was one of their big free 00:22:32.539 --> 00:22:35.539 agent acquisitions. So they signed up to a one 00:22:35.539 --> 00:22:37.779 -year, I believe the deal is right around 13 00:22:37.779 --> 00:22:40.910 million, one -year contract 13 million. Not a 00:22:40.910 --> 00:22:44.410 terrible deal not a lot of money for who when 00:22:44.410 --> 00:22:47.930 he's on the field can be an elite pass rusher 00:22:47.930 --> 00:22:51.289 elite But here's the problem. He is never on 00:22:51.289 --> 00:22:54.589 the field So there's a lot of mixed emotions 00:22:54.589 --> 00:22:57.029 when the bills announced this deal So lo and 00:22:57.029 --> 00:23:00.670 behold about a week ago or so it came out. Hey 00:23:00.670 --> 00:23:05.230 guess who's hurt already Joey freaking Bosa pulled 00:23:05.230 --> 00:23:08.680 a calf muscle out indefinitely until at least 00:23:08.680 --> 00:23:12.220 training camp. So he missed all of OTAs. I got 00:23:12.220 --> 00:23:14.619 to be honest with you, my first reaction to this 00:23:14.619 --> 00:23:18.500 news was, of course he is. Here we go already. 00:23:18.700 --> 00:23:21.119 Now, in the last three years alone, I looked 00:23:21.119 --> 00:23:23.339 this up, in the last three years, this guy has 00:23:23.339 --> 00:23:27.559 missed 23 games. 23 games is a lot of games. 00:23:27.880 --> 00:23:29.859 Now I know you're saying, well, Milano's missed 00:23:29.859 --> 00:23:32.900 games, blah, blah, blah. I get it. But the Bills 00:23:32.900 --> 00:23:35.789 needed help on the defensive line. We did not 00:23:35.789 --> 00:23:38.170 re -sign Vaughn Miller. In fact, he was cut. 00:23:39.130 --> 00:23:43.250 And our big acquisition was to sign Joey Bosa, 00:23:43.829 --> 00:23:47.049 Larry Ogunjobi, and Michael Hoyt. Now, let's 00:23:47.049 --> 00:23:49.730 look at those three names already. No, we have 00:23:49.730 --> 00:23:51.210 not started training camp, but it's right around 00:23:51.210 --> 00:23:54.769 the corner. Ogunjobi, we signed him. I think 00:23:54.769 --> 00:23:57.609 a day or two later, was it even 48 hours when 00:23:57.609 --> 00:23:59.609 the Bills came out and said, oh, by the way, 00:24:00.049 --> 00:24:04.829 Ogunjobi suspended. PEDs, six games. You're gone. 00:24:05.390 --> 00:24:08.329 Michael Hoyt signed him within 24 or 48 hours. 00:24:08.450 --> 00:24:11.509 Bills came out and said, suspended. PEDs. You're 00:24:11.509 --> 00:24:15.210 gone. I'm like, what the heck is going on? You 00:24:15.210 --> 00:24:18.210 did not know about this before you invested a 00:24:18.210 --> 00:24:20.089 lot of money in these guys. And then you go and 00:24:20.089 --> 00:24:23.349 sign Joey Bosa. Hey, whatever. One year, 13 million. 00:24:23.690 --> 00:24:26.869 Not a lot on the hook for that deal. But these 00:24:26.869 --> 00:24:29.700 are your three guys. Who are going to help shore 00:24:29.700 --> 00:24:32.779 up that defensive line because we got massacred 00:24:32.779 --> 00:24:35.380 at the end of the year They were they were non 00:24:35.380 --> 00:24:38.180 -existent in the playoffs non -existent when 00:24:38.180 --> 00:24:40.420 von miller is your best pass rusher and he doesn't 00:24:40.420 --> 00:24:44.119 hardly play We had a huge problem and the three 00:24:44.119 --> 00:24:48.319 guys we signed are Not going to be on the team. 00:24:48.420 --> 00:24:51.640 Well, i'll hold judgment on bosa Hopefully, but 00:24:51.640 --> 00:24:53.960 this is a calf injury. This is my point calf 00:24:53.960 --> 00:24:58.319 injuries are notorious to keep cropping up over 00:24:58.319 --> 00:25:00.779 and over again. And he's already hurt and it's 00:25:00.779 --> 00:25:03.599 not even training camp. So this is not a good 00:25:03.599 --> 00:25:06.119 start for the Joey Bosa experience. And these 00:25:06.119 --> 00:25:09.619 are the three players that Brandon Bean and McDermott 00:25:09.619 --> 00:25:11.880 decided to put all their faith in. Now I know 00:25:11.880 --> 00:25:14.240 we got some guys in the draft to shore up the 00:25:14.240 --> 00:25:16.400 defense, but they're going to be a long way away. 00:25:16.619 --> 00:25:19.180 They got to get trained up. They got the rookies 00:25:19.180 --> 00:25:21.759 take time. And so your three vets that you bring 00:25:21.759 --> 00:25:25.640 in are already complete jokes. Now I know it's 00:25:25.640 --> 00:25:29.369 a long season, So I'm going to try to remain 00:25:29.369 --> 00:25:31.869 calm and maybe these guys are absolute beasts 00:25:31.869 --> 00:25:34.789 in the second second half of the year. And maybe 00:25:34.789 --> 00:25:37.289 maybe all we need is for both to show up for 00:25:37.289 --> 00:25:39.829 the playoffs. Maybe that's all I really want. 00:25:39.990 --> 00:25:43.569 But if our three top defensive line signings 00:25:43.569 --> 00:25:46.029 aren't even on the field for half the year, we 00:25:46.029 --> 00:25:49.630 got problems. So anyway, I just wanted to get 00:25:49.630 --> 00:25:51.990 that off my chest because that news came out 00:25:51.990 --> 00:25:56.339 and. kind of pissed me off. So not sure how you 00:25:56.339 --> 00:25:58.660 all are feeling mafia, but that's where I'm at. 00:25:59.519 --> 00:26:01.700 Anyway, let's take a trip down memory lane. I 00:26:01.700 --> 00:26:04.279 was looking at the depth chart for the QBs. Now, 00:26:04.480 --> 00:26:06.859 obviously you have Josh Allen. So shout out to 00:26:06.859 --> 00:26:09.619 Josh and his brand new bride. Congratulations 00:26:09.619 --> 00:26:13.339 to the two. Hope they have a great marriage that 00:26:13.339 --> 00:26:16.910 lasts forever. And I hope that the best wedding 00:26:16.910 --> 00:26:19.349 present they can give us is a Super Bowl trophy. 00:26:19.789 --> 00:26:21.769 So that's what I'm hoping for. But seriously, 00:26:21.910 --> 00:26:23.470 congratulations to those two. But I was looking 00:26:23.470 --> 00:26:26.170 at the depth chart. We have two quarterbacks 00:26:26.170 --> 00:26:29.849 behind Josh, none other than the premier backup, 00:26:30.170 --> 00:26:32.430 Mitch Trubisky. Now, a couple of years ago, he 00:26:32.430 --> 00:26:34.809 was on the team. And a couple of years ago, I 00:26:34.809 --> 00:26:37.789 would have said, yes, sure, Mitch is fine. He's 00:26:37.789 --> 00:26:40.720 fine. But now... I'm kind of relooking at this 00:26:40.720 --> 00:26:43.759 and I'm like is he fine cuz I'm not sure I really 00:26:43.759 --> 00:26:46.200 want him as my backup So if we don't want Mitchie 00:26:46.200 --> 00:26:48.059 in the game, who do we want to go with? How about 00:26:48.059 --> 00:26:52.059 none other than none other than Mike White and 00:26:52.059 --> 00:26:53.799 you may be asking who the hell is Mike White? 00:26:53.859 --> 00:26:56.319 Well, I'll tell you who Mike White is White is 00:26:56.319 --> 00:26:58.640 the guy that Matt Milano essentially folded in 00:26:58.640 --> 00:27:01.339 half and put in a traveling suitcase on one of 00:27:01.339 --> 00:27:05.019 the best legal Hits you will ever see on a QB 00:27:05.019 --> 00:27:07.039 if you don't know what I'm talking about Google 00:27:07.679 --> 00:27:10.240 Matt Milano hit on Mike White and you will see 00:27:10.240 --> 00:27:12.779 a grown man literally be folded in half on a 00:27:12.779 --> 00:27:16.319 football field in midair. It's amazing. It's 00:27:16.319 --> 00:27:18.799 glorious. I need to get like this picture framed 00:27:18.799 --> 00:27:21.920 and put up on my wall. Milano is one of my daughter's 00:27:21.920 --> 00:27:23.619 favorite players. He's one of my favorite players. 00:27:23.660 --> 00:27:26.359 Actually, I have a cat named Millie after Matt 00:27:26.359 --> 00:27:28.920 Milano. That's how much I love this guy. So I 00:27:28.920 --> 00:27:32.880 hope he's back and crushing QBs this year. He 00:27:32.880 --> 00:27:34.559 needs to be on the field, but that's not the 00:27:34.559 --> 00:27:37.259 point of this. The point is Mike White. Is our 00:27:37.259 --> 00:27:38.799 third string quarterback and what has he done 00:27:38.799 --> 00:27:41.799 in his career? Absolutely nothing. Absolutely 00:27:41.799 --> 00:27:45.759 nothing. So I have no hope In the backups to 00:27:45.759 --> 00:27:48.480 josh allen now josh allen is superman. I recognize 00:27:48.480 --> 00:27:53.279 that He's been awesome and he knock on wood has 00:27:53.279 --> 00:27:55.839 not needed to come off the field unless we are 00:27:55.839 --> 00:28:00.059 absolutely smoking teams But I thought hey, let's 00:28:00.059 --> 00:28:03.779 do an exercise that blends our current crap backup 00:28:03.779 --> 00:28:08.059 situation with the 17 year playoff drought. If 00:28:08.059 --> 00:28:11.859 we could hypothetically pull any QB, any starting 00:28:11.859 --> 00:28:14.200 quarterback that builds during the drought and 00:28:14.200 --> 00:28:17.680 have them as our backup, who would it be? So 00:28:17.680 --> 00:28:19.839 I pulled up a list because I thought this would 00:28:19.839 --> 00:28:24.160 be a fun exercise. Let's talk about all the backup 00:28:24.160 --> 00:28:26.779 quarterbacks during the drought. I'm sorry, the 00:28:26.779 --> 00:28:28.880 starting quarterbacks during the drought and 00:28:28.880 --> 00:28:31.400 figure out who we would want to back up Josh 00:28:31.400 --> 00:28:35.910 Allen if you know. If time is of no If time has 00:28:35.910 --> 00:28:38.730 no meaning and age is not a number who would 00:28:38.730 --> 00:28:42.509 we want backing up our boy? 17 let's look at 00:28:42.509 --> 00:28:45.250 it. So I'm gonna go through the names and we'll 00:28:45.250 --> 00:28:47.430 talk about each one. So Drew Bledsoe now obviously 00:28:47.430 --> 00:28:51.390 Drew Bledsoe was awesome now he kind of got cast 00:28:51.390 --> 00:28:56.009 off from the Patriots boo the start of the Tom 00:28:56.009 --> 00:28:59.150 Brady extravaganza if you will whatever I think 00:28:59.150 --> 00:29:02.359 he got screwed in that deal, but Patriots fans. 00:29:02.680 --> 00:29:05.299 Yeah, you got your goat screw you Tom. I don't 00:29:05.299 --> 00:29:07.680 want to talk about it But right off the bat right 00:29:07.680 --> 00:29:11.460 off jump in 20 and in 2002 drew breath drew blood 00:29:11.460 --> 00:29:14.779 So now his record kind of was a mediocre just 00:29:14.779 --> 00:29:16.680 like we talked about last week with with the 00:29:16.680 --> 00:29:19.460 drought teams They were just never good never 00:29:19.460 --> 00:29:22.380 terrible. So they finished eight Nate 2002. He 00:29:22.380 --> 00:29:25.599 actually threw for 4 ,300 yards That's not bad. 00:29:25.599 --> 00:29:28.619 But the problem was he also threw 15 pickles. 00:29:28.619 --> 00:29:32.869 So 24 TDs 15 pickles but he threw for 4 ,300 00:29:32.869 --> 00:29:37.210 yards. That's a pretty good contestant in the 00:29:37.210 --> 00:29:41.049 contest to back up hypothetical Josh Allen in 00:29:41.049 --> 00:29:44.109 2025. So not bad. Let's look at some of the other 00:29:44.109 --> 00:29:46.329 names. Kelly Holcomb, anyone? Anyone want to 00:29:46.329 --> 00:29:49.089 go with Kelly Holcomb? No? How about captain 00:29:49.089 --> 00:29:51.529 check down Trent Edwards? Now there was a lot 00:29:51.529 --> 00:29:55.309 of hope for Trent Edwards, but then he got concussed 00:29:55.309 --> 00:29:57.470 and he came back and he was never the same. So 00:29:57.470 --> 00:29:59.569 Trent Edwards, I think what his furthest pass 00:29:59.569 --> 00:30:03.240 was what, three? Three yards, anyone? Maybe five. 00:30:03.740 --> 00:30:06.519 He was one of the most maddening quarterbacks 00:30:06.519 --> 00:30:10.460 to ever watch take the field for the Bills. You 00:30:10.460 --> 00:30:13.460 just if you were down three points, you never 00:30:13.460 --> 00:30:15.720 felt like you could go on a scoring drive with 00:30:15.720 --> 00:30:18.059 Trent Edwards as your quarterback. Sorry, Trent. 00:30:18.220 --> 00:30:22.180 It is what it is. So how about Ryan Fitzpatrick? 00:30:22.359 --> 00:30:24.940 Now, everyone loves this man. I love this guy. 00:30:25.200 --> 00:30:27.740 I think he's he was great for the city. He's 00:30:27.740 --> 00:30:30.299 a I think he's a great human being. He's a great 00:30:30.329 --> 00:30:33.569 Character great persona. I love watching him 00:30:33.569 --> 00:30:37.970 on the the broadcasts Everyone knows the iconic 00:30:37.970 --> 00:30:41.089 shirtless Fitzpatrick picture that he did in 00:30:41.089 --> 00:30:43.869 the in the playoffs. He was great for the city 00:30:43.869 --> 00:30:46.990 But we kind of got to be honest. Was he really 00:30:46.990 --> 00:30:50.430 that good or did he just play a long time now? 00:30:50.490 --> 00:30:52.869 Don't get me wrong. I love him I think he's great, 00:30:52.910 --> 00:30:57.210 but Fitzpatrick played for us for what four years 00:30:57.210 --> 00:31:01.190 I believe yeah, he played with us for just about 00:31:01.190 --> 00:31:05.710 four seasons, from 2009 to 2012. The most he 00:31:05.710 --> 00:31:08.250 ever had, let's see, the most touchdowns he ever 00:31:08.250 --> 00:31:12.170 threw, he threw 23, 24, and 24. But he also threw 00:31:12.170 --> 00:31:16.170 15 interceptions, 23 interceptions, and 16 interceptions. 00:31:16.950 --> 00:31:19.650 So, the Bills record his last two seasons, six 00:31:19.650 --> 00:31:22.730 and 10, and six and 10. Is that good? I don't 00:31:22.730 --> 00:31:24.670 know. I can't remember. Six and ten good? No, 00:31:24.670 --> 00:31:27.970 it's garbage. So while I love Fitz, I just don't 00:31:27.970 --> 00:31:32.210 think he's the answer. So who else we got? E 00:31:32.210 --> 00:31:35.170 .J. Manuel? Anyone? Anyone want to have E .J. 00:31:35.289 --> 00:31:38.710 Manuel back up? Josh Allen over Mitch Trubisky 00:31:38.710 --> 00:31:42.390 or Mike White? Anyone? How about Thad Lewis, 00:31:42.670 --> 00:31:46.210 Jeff Toole, Kyle Orton? Anyone? No? All right, 00:31:46.210 --> 00:31:48.680 I got one name left. Because I'm not going to 00:31:48.680 --> 00:31:50.960 talk about Tyrod. He was actually QB that broke 00:31:50.960 --> 00:31:54.059 the drought. So Tyrod, congrats. You escaped 00:31:54.059 --> 00:31:57.279 this, this exercise. Everyone loves you. Even 00:31:57.279 --> 00:32:00.240 though I think you're just, I, there's one guy 00:32:00.240 --> 00:32:03.500 left that I, I kind of skipped over. One guy 00:32:03.500 --> 00:32:05.980 that I thought was going to change the history 00:32:05.980 --> 00:32:09.640 of the franchise. None other than the man we 00:32:09.640 --> 00:32:13.559 drafted from the Tulane green wave, but Jonathan 00:32:13.559 --> 00:32:19.900 Paul Lossman. That's right. JP. I think if you 00:32:19.900 --> 00:32:23.140 ask me he got a bad rap now, you're probably 00:32:23.140 --> 00:32:25.200 saying what the hell are you talking about? He 00:32:25.200 --> 00:32:28.859 was terrible. I think he got screwed. He got 00:32:28.859 --> 00:32:32.559 off to a Terrible start during his NFL career 00:32:32.559 --> 00:32:35.779 his first training camp. He gets his leg broken 00:32:35.779 --> 00:32:38.579 By his own teammate. So Troy Vincent. Thank you 00:32:38.579 --> 00:32:41.099 very much I think you single -handedly derailed 00:32:41.099 --> 00:32:43.980 the amazing Hall of Fame career that was ahead 00:32:43.980 --> 00:32:48.900 of JP. So thank you but He broke his leg, which 00:32:48.900 --> 00:32:52.779 just crushed his rookie development. And I just 00:32:52.779 --> 00:32:55.940 think that that totally set him back. We drafted 00:32:55.940 --> 00:32:59.279 him in the first round. We traded back. I believe 00:32:59.279 --> 00:33:02.660 we traded back into the first round after we 00:33:02.660 --> 00:33:06.000 took Evans, Lee Evans. Lee Evans was our first 00:33:06.000 --> 00:33:09.519 pick in the 2004 draft. And we then traded back 00:33:09.519 --> 00:33:12.920 in to pick up Lostman. So we had a lot invested. 00:33:13.420 --> 00:33:16.789 I thought this guy was going to be amazing. But 00:33:16.789 --> 00:33:19.910 as it turns out he was kind of crap, but I do 00:33:19.910 --> 00:33:25.410 think I do think he had potential and If it wasn't 00:33:25.410 --> 00:33:27.549 for our offensive line and the fact that the 00:33:27.549 --> 00:33:31.450 team around him was absolute trash I do think 00:33:31.450 --> 00:33:34.730 he could have done better so if you put Lawson 00:33:34.730 --> 00:33:38.109 on our team with our defense on with our offensive 00:33:38.109 --> 00:33:42.009 line with our running back as long as cook takes 00:33:42.009 --> 00:33:44.410 a field and we'll talk about that and another 00:33:44.410 --> 00:33:47.019 time but Even if he doesn't, if you got Ray Davis 00:33:47.019 --> 00:33:50.460 back there, hey, if you take Lawsman from 2004, 00:33:50.779 --> 00:33:53.859 2005, after he recovered from his broken leg, 00:33:53.980 --> 00:33:56.059 you put him with our offensive line, our running 00:33:56.059 --> 00:33:59.640 backs, and our wide receivers, I will take my 00:33:59.640 --> 00:34:02.720 chances. I kind of think he'd be a better fit 00:34:02.720 --> 00:34:06.039 than Mitch Trubisky, but hey, that's just a fun 00:34:06.039 --> 00:34:08.340 exercise. I wanted to take that trip down memory 00:34:08.340 --> 00:34:11.500 lane, but that's where we're at. So, Bills Mafia, 00:34:11.860 --> 00:34:13.860 we got you covered this week. I know there's... 00:34:13.789 --> 00:34:15.989 There's training camp coming up and we'll dive 00:34:15.989 --> 00:34:17.909 into some more things, but I thought those two 00:34:17.909 --> 00:34:20.230 issues I wanted to talk about the defensive line 00:34:20.230 --> 00:34:22.230 and the signings and then I wanted to look at 00:34:22.230 --> 00:34:25.469 our depth chart behind good old JA 17 and see 00:34:25.469 --> 00:34:27.889 really What the heck are we dealing with and 00:34:27.889 --> 00:34:30.349 go from there? So that will sum up the bills 00:34:30.349 --> 00:34:32.710 portion of the program and last but not least 00:34:32.710 --> 00:34:34.550 What do we want to talk about in the world of 00:34:34.550 --> 00:34:39.170 card collecting? Well 2025 tops series 2 is about 00:34:39.170 --> 00:34:42.449 to hit shelves for those that don't know every 00:34:42.449 --> 00:34:45.289 year Topps baseball produces what they call a 00:34:45.289 --> 00:34:48.710 flagship Package a flagship product that product 00:34:48.710 --> 00:34:52.329 is made up of series 1 series 2 And what they 00:34:52.329 --> 00:34:55.230 call update now series 1 releases kind of coincides 00:34:55.230 --> 00:34:58.070 with the debut of the start of the season This 00:34:58.070 --> 00:35:00.449 has all your main players. It's usually about 00:35:00.449 --> 00:35:04.809 325 to 350 base cards This product top series 00:35:04.809 --> 00:35:07.369 1 series 2 and update. This is essentially the 00:35:07.369 --> 00:35:10.869 product that goes to the masses It is the most 00:35:11.050 --> 00:35:15.809 cost effective, cheapest entry point into card 00:35:15.809 --> 00:35:18.389 collecting. You find this everywhere. You find 00:35:18.389 --> 00:35:20.630 it in your Walmarts, your Targets. You find it 00:35:20.630 --> 00:35:23.489 in some supermarkets. It's everywhere. Everybody 00:35:23.489 --> 00:35:26.170 can get their hands on it. It's essentially way 00:35:26.170 --> 00:35:29.150 overproduced, but it's the product that most 00:35:29.150 --> 00:35:33.289 people dive into. What the chase is, now a chase 00:35:33.289 --> 00:35:35.969 is basically specific players, specific cards 00:35:35.969 --> 00:35:38.590 in that product that everyone are trying to get. 00:35:38.650 --> 00:35:40.909 And when we talk about chase cards, it usually 00:35:40.909 --> 00:35:44.969 refers to rookies of that class or that series. 00:35:45.090 --> 00:35:47.409 Now, in series one, we had a couple of really 00:35:47.409 --> 00:35:50.510 good rookies. At the time, no one knew Ben Rice 00:35:50.510 --> 00:35:53.710 was going to have a great start to the season, 00:35:53.789 --> 00:35:55.809 to the 2025 season for the Yankees, but he's 00:35:55.809 --> 00:35:58.550 played really, really well. He's done well. But 00:35:58.550 --> 00:36:00.769 everyone was hanging on essentially two names, 00:36:01.510 --> 00:36:04.690 and that's Dillon Cruz and James Wood of the 00:36:04.690 --> 00:36:06.869 Washington Nationals. Now, Cruz kind of started 00:36:06.869 --> 00:36:09.159 slow. but he really started to pick things up 00:36:09.159 --> 00:36:11.539 and then he got hurt. So unfortunately he's on 00:36:11.539 --> 00:36:15.840 the IL, but James Wood has been awesome. This 00:36:15.840 --> 00:36:19.340 guy had a lot of hype coming up and people were 00:36:19.340 --> 00:36:22.400 super, super excited about him. So he was kind 00:36:22.400 --> 00:36:25.960 of the chase guy in series one. Well, let's talk 00:36:25.960 --> 00:36:28.579 about series two and who are the people chasing. 00:36:28.679 --> 00:36:31.860 So I thought why not pull up the checklist and 00:36:31.860 --> 00:36:35.420 talk about some of these awesome, awesome rookies 00:36:35.420 --> 00:36:38.719 that are Loaded into series 2 and you all tell 00:36:38.719 --> 00:36:42.480 me if you think this product is worth anything 00:36:42.480 --> 00:36:45.519 so now I know this is a podcast so you can't 00:36:45.519 --> 00:36:47.719 tell me when to stop but Tell me when to stop 00:36:47.719 --> 00:36:50.320 when you hear some something or someone that 00:36:50.320 --> 00:36:53.619 is worth trying to collect Trevor McDonald San 00:36:53.619 --> 00:36:57.519 Francisco Giants No, Brandon Isert Toronto Blue 00:36:57.519 --> 00:36:59.500 Jays never heard of them Seth Johnson from the 00:36:59.500 --> 00:37:03.800 Phillies How about Mason Montgomery Angel Shavili? 00:37:04.239 --> 00:37:07.530 Yosver Zuleta Now, I'm sure I'm mispronouncing 00:37:07.530 --> 00:37:10.150 these names, but just stick with me. Dustin Harris. 00:37:10.389 --> 00:37:13.710 Anyone? Texas Rangers? No. How about Gustavo 00:37:13.710 --> 00:37:16.590 Campero from the Angels? I consider myself a 00:37:16.590 --> 00:37:20.070 baseball fan. I open a product called Bowman 00:37:20.070 --> 00:37:23.989 Baseball and Bowman is a lot of the up and coming 00:37:23.989 --> 00:37:26.969 people that are coming through the systems. You're 00:37:26.969 --> 00:37:28.909 double A or triple A, things like that. People 00:37:28.909 --> 00:37:31.170 that don't necessarily they haven't been assigned 00:37:31.170 --> 00:37:33.400 yet to the main squads. And I've never heard 00:37:33.400 --> 00:37:35.219 of any of these people. Logan Driscoll, Tampa 00:37:35.219 --> 00:37:38.079 Bay Rays, anyone? No? Now here's a name, Kumar 00:37:38.079 --> 00:37:41.099 Rocker. Everyone should know who Kumar Rocker 00:37:41.099 --> 00:37:43.219 is. He's a pitcher for the Rangers. He was originally 00:37:43.219 --> 00:37:45.960 drafted by the Mets. Then he failed his physical. 00:37:46.059 --> 00:37:48.019 The Mets said no thanks. They didn't really sign 00:37:48.019 --> 00:37:50.500 him. And then he went and played independent 00:37:50.500 --> 00:37:53.079 ball for a year and then came back and re -signed 00:37:53.079 --> 00:37:55.019 with the Texas Rangers. He had some injuries, 00:37:55.019 --> 00:37:59.219 but he's okay. He's not someone I'm going to 00:37:59.219 --> 00:38:02.909 be investing in long term. He's actually on the 00:38:02.909 --> 00:38:05.250 squad. So there's at least that but you know, 00:38:05.250 --> 00:38:08.429 he has a good pedigree as far as his Coming up 00:38:08.429 --> 00:38:10.429 through college when it comes to collecting. 00:38:10.429 --> 00:38:12.769 There's very few pitchers that ever do Well, 00:38:12.789 --> 00:38:14.369 you can have some of the greatest pitchers of 00:38:14.369 --> 00:38:16.969 all time and no one collects their cards You 00:38:16.969 --> 00:38:19.550 know wasn't Paul schemes. I think last year was 00:38:19.550 --> 00:38:22.730 a huge chase That's because he was just an anomaly 00:38:22.730 --> 00:38:25.409 and everyone went crazy. That was like the perfect 00:38:25.409 --> 00:38:28.829 storm of baseball cards having a pitcher being 00:38:28.829 --> 00:38:31.309 one of your main chase cards, but Historically, 00:38:31.489 --> 00:38:34.849 it never happened. So Kumar Rocker? No, not really. 00:38:35.590 --> 00:38:37.409 Grant Holmes, another pitcher. Atlanta Braves. 00:38:37.610 --> 00:38:41.829 He's been okay, but worth chasing? No. Tomoyuki 00:38:41.829 --> 00:38:44.530 Sugano, pitching for the Orioles. Pretty good 00:38:44.530 --> 00:38:47.250 pitchers. He's had a good season so far, but 00:38:47.250 --> 00:38:49.289 he doesn't strike anybody out. He doesn't really 00:38:49.289 --> 00:38:52.610 scare anybody. So not exactly a chase card. Michael 00:38:52.610 --> 00:38:55.159 Hellman from the Cardinals? Nope. Never heard 00:38:55.159 --> 00:38:58.239 of them. Kayden Dana from the Angels? No. Billy 00:38:58.239 --> 00:39:01.159 Cook? Like, who are these people? Who are these 00:39:01.159 --> 00:39:03.739 people and why are they in this product? I have 00:39:03.739 --> 00:39:05.840 never heard of any of these people. Brady Basso 00:39:05.840 --> 00:39:08.119 from the Athletics? How about Griffin Konine? 00:39:08.679 --> 00:39:11.500 Unless this is Jeff Konine in disguise, I'm not 00:39:11.500 --> 00:39:14.820 going to be banking my hopes on Griffin Konine. 00:39:15.059 --> 00:39:16.739 But he also plays for the Marlins, just like 00:39:16.739 --> 00:39:20.329 his dad, so... Who knows? Maybe I should invest 00:39:20.329 --> 00:39:23.730 in Griff and Conine. How about Valente Beloso? 00:39:24.010 --> 00:39:25.510 I can't even pronounce these people's names because 00:39:25.510 --> 00:39:28.070 I've never heard of them. The only ones I can 00:39:28.070 --> 00:39:30.909 sort of see... Oh wait, here's Ty Madden. Any 00:39:30.909 --> 00:39:33.210 relation to John Madden? No? Okay, I didn't think 00:39:33.210 --> 00:39:35.690 so. Detroit Tigers? Rookie? Never. Never heard 00:39:35.690 --> 00:39:38.750 of him. Jackson Jobe? Now he's up. He's on the 00:39:38.750 --> 00:39:41.550 team. But he struggled. Again, another pitcher. 00:39:41.869 --> 00:39:44.929 So what are we doing? Walter Pennington? Texas 00:39:44.929 --> 00:39:48.559 Rangers? No. Darren Baker? Believe this is the 00:39:48.559 --> 00:39:51.780 son of dusty Baker, but who knows I'm totally 00:39:51.780 --> 00:39:54.579 guessing there I think it is but I'll have to 00:39:54.579 --> 00:39:58.000 look that one up now Luis on hella Cunha. I love 00:39:58.000 --> 00:40:01.719 the Mets. They're my team But is this the chase 00:40:01.719 --> 00:40:04.679 guy and all of series 2 do we really want to? 00:40:04.679 --> 00:40:07.940 Put all our stock in in on hella Cunha. I don't 00:40:07.940 --> 00:40:10.860 know I'm still scrolling still scrolling. Okay, 00:40:10.960 --> 00:40:14.139 Roki Sasaki Now he was a huge international signing. 00:40:14.440 --> 00:40:16.199 Of course, the Dodgers sign him. Of course they 00:40:16.199 --> 00:40:18.320 did because they sign everybody and they have 00:40:18.320 --> 00:40:21.280 like $10 billion to spend and they put together 00:40:21.280 --> 00:40:23.679 these ridiculous contracts and no one knows how 00:40:23.679 --> 00:40:25.820 the hell they put their payroll together. But 00:40:25.820 --> 00:40:28.119 whatever. So they signed Roki Sasaki. He'll probably 00:40:28.119 --> 00:40:31.260 be paid for the next 75 years until he's dead. 00:40:31.519 --> 00:40:34.380 And then who knows? But anyway, Roki Sasaki. 00:40:34.559 --> 00:40:37.480 But guess what? He's been trash this year. Another 00:40:37.480 --> 00:40:40.460 pitcher can't chase him. So I'm still scrolling 00:40:40.460 --> 00:40:43.780 still scrolling Daniel Schneeman. I know he came 00:40:43.780 --> 00:40:47.559 up with the Guardians kind of like a multi tool 00:40:47.559 --> 00:40:50.940 multi position eligible Kind of jack -of -all 00:40:50.940 --> 00:40:53.760 -trades, but master of none kind of guy decent 00:40:53.760 --> 00:40:56.519 player But is it gonna wow you in the card market? 00:40:56.599 --> 00:40:59.980 Absolutely not still scrolling Duke Ellington 00:40:59.980 --> 00:41:02.699 Ellis just kidding just Duke Ellis from the Yankees 00:41:02.699 --> 00:41:05.139 Don't know who that is. I don't know any of these 00:41:05.139 --> 00:41:07.869 players Mike Burroughs from the Pirates God help 00:41:07.869 --> 00:41:10.530 us if we're chasing more pirates after the Skeen's 00:41:10.530 --> 00:41:12.510 debacle. Connor Gillespie, another Guardians 00:41:12.510 --> 00:41:15.730 rookie. Grant Holman from the Athletics. Bryce 00:41:15.730 --> 00:41:19.150 Teodosio. No idea who these people are. And then 00:41:19.150 --> 00:41:22.349 we get down to Nick York. Are the pirates? Nobody. 00:41:22.570 --> 00:41:24.769 Nobody knows who these people are. And then Richard, 00:41:24.849 --> 00:41:26.909 don't call me Dick Fitz from the Red Sox. I know 00:41:26.909 --> 00:41:29.429 he pitched a little bit, but yeah. I mean, what 00:41:29.429 --> 00:41:32.130 are we doing? I'm not even sure Fitz is still 00:41:32.130 --> 00:41:35.320 on the roster right now. I'm not sure that one 00:41:35.320 --> 00:41:37.219 doesn't strike a lot of confidence in me. But 00:41:37.219 --> 00:41:40.760 again another pitcher we have Hayden Birdsong 00:41:40.760 --> 00:41:43.360 now I know he's been up he started in the bullpen 00:41:43.360 --> 00:41:45.820 now He's starting games for the Giants But again 00:41:45.820 --> 00:41:48.780 another pitcher and that's that pretty much covers 00:41:48.780 --> 00:41:51.659 the rookie list So there's literally no one in 00:41:51.659 --> 00:41:54.480 this product worth chasing So I know it comes 00:41:54.480 --> 00:41:57.099 out everyone's gonna be excited. But this product 00:41:57.099 --> 00:42:00.800 is massively overproduced and We shall see what 00:42:00.800 --> 00:42:03.340 happens Can't think of anyone that's even worth 00:42:03.340 --> 00:42:05.519 chasing as far as rookies go I'm sure there's 00:42:05.519 --> 00:42:07.780 gonna be autographs that people are gonna be 00:42:07.780 --> 00:42:10.460 after but I gotta tell you cardboard enthusiasts 00:42:10.460 --> 00:42:14.579 This is a lot of crap and it's kind of disappointing. 00:42:14.579 --> 00:42:18.360 I I was looking forward to this immensely and 00:42:18.360 --> 00:42:21.380 I'm just not seeing it here with the rookie class. 00:42:21.860 --> 00:42:24.719 So Unfortunately, this is gonna be a big thumbs 00:42:24.719 --> 00:42:28.239 down for me. I know there are some some cool 00:42:28.239 --> 00:42:30.420 autographs with different rookies. Everyone wants 00:42:30.420 --> 00:42:33.960 to get a James Wood rookie. I was super lucky 00:42:33.960 --> 00:42:37.059 enough. I opened a super box or whatever the 00:42:37.059 --> 00:42:39.780 heck you call it, bought a GameStop for like 00:42:39.780 --> 00:42:43.599 40 bucks and I managed to pull a James Wood 90s 00:42:43.599 --> 00:42:46.559 variation rookie. So that that card was was absolutely 00:42:46.559 --> 00:42:49.079 sick. But I'm looking through this and I just 00:42:49.079 --> 00:42:50.800 don't see it, which is kind of disappointing. 00:42:51.559 --> 00:42:53.599 But anyway, what else do we want to talk about? 00:42:53.800 --> 00:42:55.840 Who are we all collecting? What are we all collecting? 00:42:55.920 --> 00:42:59.360 I know it's This is a weird time of the year 00:42:59.360 --> 00:43:02.920 because football keeps dropping random products 00:43:02.920 --> 00:43:06.900 time after time. They're still using 2024 rosters. 00:43:07.119 --> 00:43:09.380 Topps keeps coming out with unlicensed product 00:43:09.380 --> 00:43:11.840 after unlicensed product. It's just a very weird 00:43:11.840 --> 00:43:14.179 time in the card market. I'm looking forward 00:43:14.179 --> 00:43:16.739 to seeing what's on the horizon, but what are 00:43:16.739 --> 00:43:18.639 you all collecting? Right now I'm kind of focusing 00:43:18.639 --> 00:43:22.300 on picking up some some bills cards, always looking 00:43:22.300 --> 00:43:24.940 for wrestling cards and things like that. But 00:43:24.940 --> 00:43:28.980 we'll talk more about PC stuff and who were running 00:43:28.980 --> 00:43:31.280 after who were trying to collect as we move forward 00:43:31.280 --> 00:43:34.139 but i think that's gonna do it for episode two 00:43:34.139 --> 00:43:36.659 i thought it would be fun to kinda take some 00:43:36.659 --> 00:43:39.980 looks down memory lane with old. Buffalo bills 00:43:39.980 --> 00:43:42.889 cubies and take a look at the. the history of 00:43:42.889 --> 00:43:45.050 the money in the bank match. So yeah, that'll 00:43:45.050 --> 00:43:47.110 about do it. That'll put episode two in the books. 00:43:47.269 --> 00:43:49.610 I can't thank you enough if you've listened through 00:43:49.610 --> 00:43:51.550 this podcast. And like I said, if you haven't 00:43:51.550 --> 00:43:53.449 checked out episode one, I encourage everybody 00:43:53.449 --> 00:43:55.809 to go back and do so, but that'll wrap it up. 00:43:56.150 --> 00:44:01.630 So thanks for everyone being here. So until next 00:44:01.630 --> 00:44:04.409 time, whether it's ripping packs, breaking tables, 00:44:04.690 --> 00:44:07.090 or dropping elbows, keep doing what you love. 00:44:07.170 --> 00:44:09.170 And as always, go Bills.
