- 0:11Speaker 1: It is the good report.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Tonight the coalition divorce could be over after just two days.
- 0:19Speaker 2: So which leader caved? Barnaby Joyce coming up. Plus Donald
- 0:23Speaker 2: Trump does it again, ambushing another president in the White House,
- 0:27Speaker 2: this time with an embarrassing video. And I'll have an
- 0:30Speaker 2: update on the latest and the terrible floods in New
- 0:33Speaker 2: South Wales. Also tonight a report on a helicopter crash
- 0:37Speaker 2: that should shame the Albanezy government. But first before I
- 0:43Speaker 2: get to the really dramatic political news from cambridg today,
- 0:48Speaker 2: this assassination in Washington. Now, every time I do think
- 0:52Speaker 2: Israel is going too far in Gaza and maybe it
- 0:55Speaker 2: is Palestine and supporters remind me that Israel is fai
- 1:00Speaker 2: seeing forces of barbarism and liars. Early today our time,
- 1:05Speaker 2: a Palestinian supporter called the liars Rodriguez shot dead a
- 1:09Speaker 2: young Jewish couple, two Israeli diplomats walking from an event
- 1:15Speaker 2: that Washington's Jewish Museum. This is the killer, allegedly.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Palisfan free palisone.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Now as you saw this man's actually from Chicago shouting
- 1:31Speaker 2: free Palestine. Well that's actually a chart at almost every
- 1:35Speaker 2: pro Palestine rally, and you saw him being arrested for
- 1:39Speaker 2: what seems to me a very clearly anti Semitic attack.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Both victims were exiting at an event at the Capitol
- 1:48Speaker 4: Jewish Museum, located in the five hundred block of Third
- 1:52Speaker 4: Street Northwest when the shooting occurred. We believe the shooting
- 1:56Speaker 4: was committed by a single suspect who is now in custody.
- 2:00Speaker 5: The couple that was gone down tonight in the name
- 2:04Speaker 5: of free Palestine so young couple about to be engaged.
- 2:10Speaker 5: The young man purchased a ring this week with the
- 2:14Speaker 5: intention of proposing to his girlfriend next week. In Jerusalem,
- 2:19Speaker 5: Donald Trump told me that his administration is going to
- 2:24Speaker 5: do everything it can possibly do to fight and end
- 2:30Speaker 5: anti Semitism.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I think I should point out something. This is not
- 2:35Speaker 2: the first assassination on American soil by pro Palestine extremists.
- 2:41Speaker 2: In nineteen sixty eight, this Palestinian Sirhan Sohan was so
- 2:45Speaker 2: angry with presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy his support for
- 2:49Speaker 2: Israel in the Sixth Day War that so Han shot
- 2:53Speaker 2: him too, murdered Kennedy at a hotel in Los Angeles.
- 2:58Speaker 2: But I also mentioned Li and this in fact might
- 3:01Speaker 2: be related. I want to show you how easily Israel
- 3:06Speaker 2: is demonized, so much so that yes, maybe some radicals,
- 3:11Speaker 2: maybe even this killer, might think that murdering Jews is justified.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Israel has been bilcading humanitarian na to Gaza, partly to
- 3:20Speaker 2: sopomasteris stealing supplies and then selling them. Now on Monday
- 3:25Speaker 2: it said that to stop any malnutrition it was now
- 3:28Speaker 2: going to allow restricted supplies into Gaza again. But on Tuesday,
- 3:34Speaker 2: a United Nations official, head of the UN's Office for
- 3:37Speaker 2: the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, went on Britain's BBC to
- 3:41Speaker 2: say this renewed aid wasn't enough, and then he made
- 3:46Speaker 2: this astonishing claim there are fourteen thousand babies that will
- 3:51Speaker 2: die in the next forty eight hours unless we can
- 3:53Speaker 2: reach them. Fourteen thousand babies in Gaza dying in forty
- 4:00Speaker 2: eight hours like right now, I mean seriously, that claim
- 4:05Speaker 2: was clearly preposterous, clearly propaganda. Yet it was repeated unquestioningly
- 4:12Speaker 2: by media around the world. In America by The New
- 4:15Speaker 2: York Times, NBC News Time, the usual suspects, and in
- 4:18Speaker 2: Australia by our ABC of course, by our multicultural sbs,
- 4:25Speaker 2: of course, and by the left wing Guard in Australia,
- 4:29Speaker 2: except it was not just obviously wrong this news, this
- 4:32Speaker 2: claim the US, it's the UN itself quickly admitted it
- 4:37Speaker 2: was indeed fake news. No, fourteen thousand Palestinian babies are
- 4:43Speaker 2: not dying in forty.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Eight hours right now.
- 4:46Speaker 2: The UN said what we actually meant that over the
- 4:50Speaker 2: next year, that many babies might have malnutrition, and that
- 4:55Speaker 2: not necessarily even dying from it. They just would have malnutrition.
- 5:00Speaker 2: By the way, how will they even guess that a
- 5:02Speaker 2: year from now? I mean, but that did that Palestine activists,
- 5:07Speaker 2: by the way, you shot did those two Jews in
- 5:10Speaker 2: Washington hear that fake news? By the way, about Israel
- 5:13Speaker 2: killing fourteen thousand babies palestini ones in two days? Is
- 5:16Speaker 2: that what made him so proud to be a Jew killer?
- 5:21Speaker 1: Of course? You know, I guess, I guess you like me. Now,
- 5:24Speaker 1: wait the groveling.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Corrections from the AVC, from SBS and from the Guardian,
- 5:30Speaker 2: if only to call Jew haters here. Haven't seen those
- 5:34Speaker 2: corrections yet. But you now know how it is with
- 5:38Speaker 2: the Left, don't you. A lie isn't a lie if
- 5:41Speaker 2: it's in the right cause their cause hating Israel. Now
- 5:49Speaker 2: today the Coalition might just have been saved because new
- 5:53Speaker 2: Liberal leader sits and Lee has now realized she must
- 5:55Speaker 2: lead now. I think she should have done it before.
- 6:00Speaker 2: At least she has done it now. Lee today met
- 6:03Speaker 2: the National's leader, David little Proud, two days after he
- 6:05Speaker 2: walked out of the coalition. She messaged him, asked the
- 6:09Speaker 2: meeting and said she could fix this, so both backed off.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Lee scrapped her plans to announce her all Liberal shadow ministry,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and Little Proud sent home the Nationals politicians that he
- 6:23Speaker 2: was going to make his own spokesman.
- 6:26Speaker 6: I had a brief meeting with Susan Leek and she
- 6:30Speaker 6: made an offer to reconvene her party room to discuss
- 6:34Speaker 6: the four policy areas that the National Party demand as
- 6:38Speaker 6: part of a coalition agreement, and I thank her for that,
- 6:41Speaker 6: and as a consequence, I have decided to send those
- 6:45Speaker 6: spokespeople home as a sign of good faith, and Susan,
- 6:48Speaker 6: as a sign of good faith, will not be announcing
- 6:52Speaker 6: shadow cabinet.
- 6:53Speaker 1: This is a positive step forward.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Lee now has about eight weeks before Parliament returns to
- 6:59Speaker 2: get a party to agree to those four demands the
- 7:02Speaker 2: Nationals magers and condition of staying in the coalition and
- 7:05Speaker 2: like I said last night in my columns as well,
- 7:08Speaker 2: agreeing to the National's demands should have been a no brainer.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Lee should have agreed to them already at the start
- 7:15Speaker 2: of the week. Yes to allow a nuclear power and
- 7:18Speaker 2: yes to tough the vestitue laws against the supermarket chains
- 7:22Speaker 2: that abuse market power. Yes to a development fund for
- 7:25Speaker 2: the Bush, and yes to minimum standards of telecommunications coverage
- 7:29Speaker 2: for the Bush. How hard could any of that be?
- 7:33Speaker 2: But Lee stuck to process. You know, oh, I need
- 7:37Speaker 2: to review all liberal policies first, all of them because
- 7:40Speaker 2: help my party and so on.
- 7:43Speaker 6: The timeline that that we're talking about was months away.
- 7:46Speaker 6: It was a review of all policies.
- 7:49Speaker 2: And that was plainly ridiculous, unworkable. So this really could
- 7:52Speaker 2: have been resolved very quickly with a quick group chat
- 7:55Speaker 2: of the liberal politicians. And I actually unders I mean,
- 8:00Speaker 2: for instance, this is how easy it is. I understand
- 8:02Speaker 2: from prominent people from both sides of the Liberals, the
- 8:05Speaker 2: left and conservatives, that about eighty percent of their party
- 8:08Speaker 2: room would back nuclear anyway. So why couldn't Lee make
- 8:11Speaker 2: a quick call, be decisive and keep this coalition together?
- 8:15Speaker 2: Even if you think the Nationals, you know, give us
- 8:18Speaker 2: the four demands or else, even if you think that
- 8:21Speaker 2: was too much. And today, as I said, Lee risked
- 8:26Speaker 2: making a second mistake announcing a shadow ministry only of
- 8:30Speaker 2: Liberals because the Nationals had balked. They would actually make
- 8:33Speaker 2: peace even harder, because if they did come together again,
- 8:37Speaker 2: she would have to sack about six of the new
- 8:39Speaker 2: spokesman Liberals to give the Nationals their share of those
- 8:42Speaker 2: top jobs. That would have been so ugly, so destabilizing. Well,
- 8:49Speaker 2: Binko seems Lee suddenly can make a quick decision. After all,
- 8:53Speaker 2: this is promising, well at least, you know, let's hope
- 8:57Speaker 2: it all comes through. But we shall see what a
- 8:59Speaker 2: huge which lesson to her and to the Liberals, but
- 9:02Speaker 2: at some cost, like in trust, some of the Liberals
- 9:06Speaker 2: were actually stupidly leaking stuff against the Nationals to muddy
- 9:11Speaker 2: the waters or maybe deliberately make peace harder. One lead
- 9:17Speaker 2: this letter that Bridget McKenzie, leader of the Nationals in
- 9:19Speaker 2: the Senate, wrote to the Liberals, the leader in the Senate,
- 9:22Speaker 2: Mikhaylia Cash. And this is days and days before the
- 9:25Speaker 2: Lee became leader, you know, saying that with cent Nampa
- 9:28Speaker 2: jimper Price affecting to the Liberals. The National Senate Party
- 9:31Speaker 2: room would now need to reconsider our position with respect
- 9:34Speaker 2: to sitting with the Liberal Party as a coalition in
- 9:37Speaker 2: the Senate Chamber.
- 9:39Speaker 7: There's been a lot of leaking going on. It would
- 9:41Speaker 7: seem of texts, of letters, of conversations. I don't think
- 9:45Speaker 7: it's in anyone's interests for those matters to be leaked
- 9:50Speaker 7: because it actually breaches and breaks trust.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Now a lot of politicians on both sides, Liberals, Nationals,
- 9:57Speaker 2: they're going to have to get right over themselves. This
- 10:00Speaker 2: truth is going to end in real peace and a coalition.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I mean, here's that. I'll give you a measure of
- 10:05Speaker 2: the anger. Claims that Lee is in the pocket of
- 10:08Speaker 2: the two powerful left wing liberal powerbroker Michael Photius for instance,
- 10:12Speaker 2: a lobbyists with interests in renewable energy. I'm not sure
- 10:16Speaker 2: I buy that, although you know, Photos should be out
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the party obviously, And there's been talk of trying
- 10:21Speaker 2: to get conservative liberals like Angus Taylor to join the Nationals,
- 10:24Speaker 2: to become and make the Nationals the official opposition, because
- 10:28Speaker 2: when they all do, they the liberal left that's left behind.
- 10:32Speaker 2: That sounds to me actually more like a threat. But
- 10:35Speaker 2: it tells you there's a lot of anger that's been
- 10:37Speaker 2: released and getting the coalition back together again is going
- 10:40Speaker 2: to take a lot more trust than we've seen, a
- 10:42Speaker 2: lot of TLC and a bit more leadership than we've
- 10:45Speaker 2: seen as well. But today was a start. Joining me
- 10:50Speaker 2: back from his surgery is our Thursday regular guest Nationals
- 10:53Speaker 2: MP Barnaby Joyce the form of Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby
- 10:57Speaker 2: great to see. First of all, how you try, You're okay?
- 11:02Speaker 8: Yeah, Look to all your viewers, thank you very much
- 11:05Speaker 8: for your kind support. Look, I had my prostate removed
- 11:09Speaker 8: and after it was removed, they did the histology on it.
- 11:13Speaker 8: They found that there was a clear partition between the
- 11:16Speaker 8: cancer's growth and the edge of my prostate.
- 11:19Speaker 9: That's very good.
- 11:19Speaker 8: Otherwise that pasthesizes as you've seen with former President Biden
- 11:23Speaker 8: and goes.
- 11:24Speaker 9: Into your bones.
- 11:26Speaker 8: So that's an overwhelmingly good prognosis and that's what I
- 11:29Speaker 8: expected at the start. I say to all your male
- 11:33Speaker 8: listeners and to all the ladies who held men or
- 11:37Speaker 8: men the air and close in their heart.
- 11:40Speaker 9: They're over the age of forty, get a PSA test.
- 11:43Speaker 9: Make sure they have a PSA tests. I say to
- 11:46Speaker 9: the doctors watching this, go through your.
- 11:49Speaker 8: Patient lists, make sure the guys have had a PSA test,
- 11:53Speaker 8: and I say.
- 11:53Speaker 9: Once more and upset it numerous times. Thank you to
- 11:56Speaker 9: my local GP who insisted I get a PSA tests.
- 12:00Speaker 8: In fact, it was on speakerphone and when my staffers
- 12:04Speaker 8: in the car heard it hurt My doctor brating me
- 12:09Speaker 8: saying get a PSA test, and my staff are saying,
- 12:12Speaker 8: you clown, why don't you do this and booking me
- 12:15Speaker 8: immediately into one that hadn't happened in two years time
- 12:19Speaker 8: would have a very sad conversation.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Well, I'm so glad to your staff and to your
- 12:26Speaker 2: doctor and that you did relent and do that the
- 12:29Speaker 2: PSA test. By the way, people, you just need to
- 12:31Speaker 2: go and get blood. Go to your GP, get some
- 12:35Speaker 2: blood sample test and that's it. Barnaby this truth today.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Did Susan Lee give in or did your leader David
- 12:43Speaker 2: Little Proud go wobbly after all the media criticism?
- 12:46Speaker 9: Who cares?
- 12:47Speaker 8: What we need is an effective coalition to make sure
- 12:51Speaker 8: that we have a coagentt and efficacious capacity as an
- 12:57Speaker 8: opposition to hold the labor government to account.
- 13:01Speaker 9: We all have concerns about net zero, don't we?
- 13:04Speaker 7: I do.
- 13:06Speaker 9: What does the cost?
- 13:07Speaker 8: No one has actually told us, what is the effects?
- 13:10Speaker 8: No one's actually told us the fact that the majority
- 13:14Speaker 8: of the globe and the majority of global economy is
- 13:16Speaker 8: not part of us. Where's that debate that needs to
- 13:21Speaker 8: be brought forward by a very virulent but cogent opposition,
- 13:29Speaker 8: and we need to be able.
- 13:30Speaker 9: To form that.
- 13:32Speaker 8: We have the fact that cracked the superinnoation egg with
- 13:38Speaker 8: unrealized capital gains, something you've never made, money, you've never made,
- 13:43Speaker 8: and apparently they're going to tax you for it, which
- 13:46Speaker 8: will be incredibly difficult.
- 13:48Speaker 9: It will be disastrous for so many family farms that
- 13:51Speaker 9: are held in super innovation funds. We have a ten
- 13:54Speaker 9: million dollar family farm that's not unusual these days. You
- 13:57Speaker 9: have no intention of selling it.
- 13:59Speaker 8: We've probably got to eight percent capital gain you've been
- 14:01Speaker 8: having the last year A few years.
- 14:03Speaker 9: Hey, you've got one point eight million dollar capital.
- 14:06Speaker 8: Gain at thirty three eight was at thirty three outs
- 14:09Speaker 8: twenty four five hundred and forty thousand dollars you'd have
- 14:14Speaker 8: to pay to Jim Jarmas in a year.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Bring you back to the Can I bring you back
- 14:22Speaker 2: to what really is the news?
- 14:23Speaker 1: This week? Though?
- 14:24Speaker 2: And that is this, this divorce that seems to lasted
- 14:28Speaker 2: two days. The Liberals now suggesting that they think they
- 14:31Speaker 2: can live with the policy to at least drop the
- 14:33Speaker 2: ban on nuclear power, which is what you demanded. But
- 14:36Speaker 2: here's the thing, Barnabi nationals like you and Matt Canavan
- 14:40Speaker 2: actually wanted more. I know it's not part of the
- 14:43Speaker 2: four demands for the Liberals, but you wanted an end
- 14:46Speaker 2: to the net zero target. Has David Little Proud, your leader,
- 14:52Speaker 2: actually demanded enough from the Liberals.
- 14:55Speaker 8: Well, I suppose we have to have that discussion in
- 14:58Speaker 8: the That's part of to be quite frank, to have
- 15:01Speaker 8: that discussion. Seeing all policies go back to the drawing
- 15:04Speaker 8: board in the Liberal party room. I don't want to
- 15:07Speaker 8: go to war with the Liberal Party. I want to
- 15:13Speaker 8: I don't want to go to war with anyone. Actually,
- 15:15Speaker 8: I want to have a political debate with the Labor Party,
- 15:20Speaker 8: not with the Liberal Party. And so I've always I've
- 15:24Speaker 8: been of the mind to try and park this into
- 15:30Speaker 8: an nicene issue and move on to the one that
- 15:33Speaker 8: really matters, which is holding a government to account.
- 15:37Speaker 9: That is for my sins, where my endeavors are focused.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Well, Peacemaker Barnaby a role for you, a different role.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Did David Little Proud then push this too hard, too fast?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Did it actually need to come to this war?
- 16:00Speaker 1: Look out?
- 16:02Speaker 8: Well, look, I'm not going to have a retrospective on that, Andrew,
- 16:06Speaker 8: I'm going to have a prospective offended him.
- 16:10Speaker 9: Well, look, I'm glad that I believe that we are
- 16:14Speaker 9: getting to a sensible outcome. I hope.
- 16:20Speaker 8: I think that it's imperative if we have any prospect
- 16:25Speaker 8: whatsoever in a twenty twenty eight election, that we arrived
- 16:30Speaker 8: there as a united front. And you know, you know,
- 16:35Speaker 8: I don't know what role I'll be playing that, but.
- 16:40Speaker 9: That's that's what I think is good for our nation.
- 16:43Speaker 8: I think the Australian people deserve a competent government and
- 16:47Speaker 8: a cogent and inquisitive and cerebral opposition, and with the best.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Bob be Joyce, all that's true.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I just note for the viewers, of course, that I
- 17:03Speaker 2: gave you a couple of opportunities to say that David
- 17:07Speaker 2: Little Proud did not go too far and too fast
- 17:10Speaker 2: in putting the demands to the Liberals.
- 17:13Speaker 1: You didn't take that, but who.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Knows, you might maybe the painkillers, maybe the painkillers can
- 17:20Speaker 2: be to blame.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your time.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Well to these massive floods in northern New South Wales.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Fifty thousand people cut off and our three dead, one
- 17:33Speaker 2: a man trapped in his car, including and there's also
- 17:38Speaker 2: a sixty three year old David Knowles who was trapped
- 17:41Speaker 2: on his farm. But when rescuers were coming, he said,
- 17:45Speaker 2: go save my family first.
- 17:47Speaker 1: What a hero.
- 17:49Speaker 2: But along with the tragedy of stories of rescues more
- 17:51Speaker 2: than five hundred of them, and of courage and of compassion,
- 17:55Speaker 2: like in Tarre, where you saw a State Emergency Services
- 17:59Speaker 2: volunteer today reunited with the two children after they were
- 18:04Speaker 2: two days separated by the floods, the children being cut
- 18:08Speaker 2: off when their mum was out helping others.
- 18:12Speaker 10: I went out Tuesday morning and we got flooded in
- 18:15Speaker 10: and couldn't make it back home. So they've been there
- 18:17Speaker 10: by themselves. My dad ended up going down with them.
- 18:22Speaker 10: But my dad is sick at the moment and walking
- 18:24Speaker 10: to my house from his place in the rain just
- 18:26Speaker 10: made him a lot worse, so he was struggling with them,
- 18:31Speaker 10: so let's get them to safety.
- 18:32Speaker 1: That was a moment.
- 18:33Speaker 8: Can you explain Honestly, there's no words.
- 18:38Speaker 10: I have just been so stressed, not knowing whether they're
- 18:41Speaker 10: all right, and.
- 18:42Speaker 11: Just that feeling of having them back in your arms
- 18:43Speaker 11: again after all that time.
- 18:47Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, very special.
- 18:49Speaker 9: Are you going to keep working, You're going to keep helping?
- 18:51Speaker 10: Yes, I got a job to do, so I'm going
- 18:53Speaker 10: to do it now. I can just do it with
- 18:56Speaker 10: peace of mind knowing that my family's okay.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Brilliant Australian story, but this will get worse before it
- 19:03Speaker 2: gets better. Massive rain today, more expected tomorrow, and you've
- 19:09Speaker 2: got two people who walked into the flood boarders reported missing.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Still join him for an update on the floods of
- 19:14Speaker 2: Scone is reporter Jim Cannan.
- 19:17Speaker 13: Yeah, good evening to you, Andrew, and good evening to everyone. Yes,
- 19:20Speaker 13: a tragic reminder of the deadly situation that continues to
- 19:24Speaker 13: unfold not just on the mid north coast of New
- 19:27Speaker 13: South Wales, but now large sections of the state of
- 19:30Speaker 13: New South Wales as this weather event now continues south
- 19:34Speaker 13: but sadly here in Tarre, where we've spent much of
- 19:38Speaker 13: the day, news came to us early that a local farmer,
- 19:41Speaker 13: sixty three year old David Knolls, was found deceased at
- 19:46Speaker 13: his property just outside of Tarre Now. He had been
- 19:49Speaker 13: in communication with emergency services yesterday afternoon he'd elected to
- 19:54Speaker 13: stay behind to help ten for his cattle, but sadly
- 19:57Speaker 13: it was confirmed that he had lost his life day
- 20:00Speaker 13: and there is now an ongoing investigation to that.
- 20:03Speaker 1: In the news Lake today that a man in.
- 20:04Speaker 13: His thirties had been found in floodwaters around four kilometers
- 20:10Speaker 13: inland from war Hoope, a bit further north of Tari.
- 20:14Speaker 13: He was initially thought missing late yesterday having driven his
- 20:19Speaker 13: car into floodwaters, was not seen last night and tragically
- 20:22Speaker 13: emergency services found him and his vehicle today and there
- 20:26Speaker 13: are grave fears for two more as well.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So what has been a dark day here on.
- 20:31Speaker 13: The mid north coast of New South Wales sadly may
- 20:34Speaker 13: still have some real grave consequences for at least two
- 20:38Speaker 13: more people.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:39Speaker 13: It comes as the SEES issue one hundred and forty
- 20:43Speaker 13: different notices out there for the public to heat. Thirty
- 20:48Speaker 13: four of those are now at emergency level. Basically they're
- 20:52Speaker 13: saying to evacuate if you can, otherwise it is too late.
- 20:56Speaker 13: And it comes on a day where we saw incredible
- 20:59Speaker 13: scenes where the local council has effectively become a command
- 21:04Speaker 13: center run by the SS who have the combat lead
- 21:09Speaker 13: organization here overseeing the likes of local Westbak Rescue helicopters,
- 21:13Speaker 13: the RFS pole there and the like. And they've got
- 21:17Speaker 13: nine aircraft in nine helicopters working around the clock and
- 21:20Speaker 13: they're performing some incredible efforts to rescue people in some
- 21:24Speaker 13: really dire situations.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And we saw that firsthand.
- 21:27Speaker 13: A local couple Paul and Liz Brennan, who were winched
- 21:31Speaker 13: to safety after dy all being isolated in their home
- 21:34Speaker 13: just on the outskirts of Tare waters were in their home,
- 21:38Speaker 13: but they got to safety, thankfully for them. It was
- 21:41Speaker 13: very distressing catching up with them, but you just got
- 21:44Speaker 13: a really raw account of just where it's sat for
- 21:47Speaker 13: those two. And then some beautiful scenes as well. A
- 21:50Speaker 13: local SEES volunteer Cassie Lake, who had been volunteering since
- 21:54Speaker 13: last Tuesday morning away from her family, was then isolated
- 21:58Speaker 13: from them because of the raisin ry of the water levels.
- 22:01Speaker 13: But some beautiful scenes when four children were then flown
- 22:05Speaker 13: in the care of one of the West Back Rescue helicopters.
- 22:10Speaker 13: And whilst it has been a dark day and a
- 22:13Speaker 13: day of real tragedy for some families. There's been some
- 22:16Speaker 13: touching moments among all this as well, but as we know,
- 22:20Speaker 13: it continues to unfold and will give you all the
- 22:23Speaker 13: updates when they come to hand.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yes, that was Jim Cannon and joining us an hour
- 22:29Speaker 2: or so ago.
- 22:31Speaker 1: He'll have more reports tomorrow on the floods. You've seen
- 22:35Speaker 1: them right here.
- 22:36Speaker 2: After the break, Donald Trump shreds another president in the
- 22:39Speaker 2: White House. Plus the military report that should shame the Albanyzygun.
- 22:49Speaker 2: A lot of world leaders might start to get very
- 22:52Speaker 2: nervous about meeting Donald Trump with the cameras rolling there,
- 22:55Speaker 2: might want to decline, is he going to ambush them in?
- 23:00Speaker 2: Is that no other American president ever did? Like South
- 23:04Speaker 2: African President Cyril Ramiposa was ambushed today or yesterday. Now,
- 23:09Speaker 2: we've already seen Trump shouting at Ukraine's president of the
- 23:13Speaker 2: White House and throwing him out. But the South African
- 23:16Speaker 2: president first, well, he must have thought he was going
- 23:19Speaker 2: to you know, in sweet first got smiles and jokes
- 23:22Speaker 2: from Trump. But then suddenly this Donald Trump raising claims
- 23:27Speaker 2: promoted by Elon Musk, of a genocide against the white
- 23:30Speaker 2: South Africans.
- 23:39Speaker 14: At South Point.
- 23:43Speaker 2: That tape that Donald Trump ran actually went for five minutes.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Most of it like that ranting from Julius Malima is
- 23:52Speaker 2: a leader of a radical South African party who got
- 23:55Speaker 2: ten percent of the vote last election. Rants of Melima
- 23:58Speaker 2: doing things like chanting kill the board, which is killed
- 24:02Speaker 2: the white farmer, the.
- 24:05Speaker 9: Poor, the farmer, the poor, the farmer.
- 24:12Speaker 1: The president. Ramoposa tried to argue back what.
- 24:15Speaker 3: You saw the speeches that were being made. One that
- 24:20Speaker 3: is not government policy. Our government policy is completely completely
- 24:26Speaker 3: against what he was saying, even in the parliament, and
- 24:31Speaker 3: they're a small minority party.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Ramapos also pointed out they brought along two famous bite golfers,
- 24:38Speaker 2: Ernie Elson, Rettief Goosen and South Africa's richest white man.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Although I must say the two golfers do live in
- 24:47Speaker 2: America and the richest white man in South Africa probably
- 24:50Speaker 2: can afford great home security.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But he said he brought them with him.
- 24:54Speaker 3: If that was Africana farmer genocide, I can bet you
- 25:00Speaker 3: these three gentlemen would not be here now.
- 25:03Speaker 2: I think Trump is absolutely correct to point out that
- 25:06Speaker 2: ranting by Malima. I think that's really dangerous. This is
- 25:10Speaker 2: going with ten percent of the vote and seats in parliament,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and I don't think it's been sufficiently controlled. It's shames
- 25:16Speaker 2: South Africa that that ranting and killing and threat or
- 25:20Speaker 2: threats of killing is allowed to go unchallenged. And I
- 25:22Speaker 2: have to point out other parts though of Trump's video
- 25:26Speaker 2: were misleading.
- 25:28Speaker 14: These are burial SATs radio burial sites over a thousand
- 25:37Speaker 14: of white farmers.
- 25:40Speaker 2: No, they weren't a burial sites. There were crosses put
- 25:43Speaker 2: up for a protest at farmer deaths a couple of
- 25:46Speaker 2: years ago. Although yes, they were there to mark the
- 25:50Speaker 2: deaths of farmers. And it's true that white farmers have
- 25:53Speaker 2: been killed in extremely brutal ways a sexual assault. It's
- 25:57Speaker 2: just too graphic to tell you some of it does
- 26:00Speaker 2: seem racially motivated. But that said, the killings are going down,
- 26:05Speaker 2: and they are absolutely dwarfed by the killings of blacks
- 26:10Speaker 2: in this very corrupt and failing country with one of
- 26:14Speaker 2: the worst murder rates in the world.
- 26:17Speaker 3: There is criminality in our country. People who do get killed,
- 26:24Speaker 3: unfortunately through criminal activity, are not only white people, majority
- 26:29Speaker 3: of them are black people.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And that was an extraordinary ambush. Playing five minutes of
- 26:35Speaker 2: damning tape at the present with the press watching. But
- 26:39Speaker 2: Trump is so convinced that this mite genocides story pushed
- 26:41Speaker 2: by the fire right, that has let white farmers come
- 26:44Speaker 2: to the US as refugees.
- 26:46Speaker 14: We have thousands of people that want to come into
- 26:48Speaker 14: our country. They're also going to Australia and a smaller number,
- 26:53Speaker 14: but we have thousands of people that want to come
- 26:55Speaker 14: into our country, and they're white farmers, and they feel
- 26:58Speaker 14: that they're going to die.
- 27:01Speaker 8: It's South Africa and it's a bad thing.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Now that is true.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'll say it again that South Africa is a basket case.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Racism is now an official policy there again anti white racism,
- 27:15Speaker 2: but white genocide. I mean, Trump really wants to believe it.
- 27:17Speaker 2: But I don't think it's the first time that we
- 27:20Speaker 2: see that facts don't matter too much in this White House.
- 27:28Speaker 1: But to a real crisis, I bet you han't been
- 27:30Speaker 1: told about now. I've said about Ukraine.
- 27:33Speaker 2: If Russian President of Vladimir Putin is allowed to win
- 27:37Speaker 2: by Europe or by Trump, he will figure that the
- 27:41Speaker 2: West is weak and he will move on to other
- 27:43Speaker 2: European targets. In fact, there has been an escalation already.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Like I say, I bet you haven't heard about it now.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Last Sunday, Estonia, which is on Russia's border. It's a
- 27:55Speaker 2: former colony under the Soviets. It stopped the Greek owned Tane,
- 28:00Speaker 2: a Greek one suspected of breaking sanctions on Russia by
- 28:04Speaker 2: smuggling Russian oil.
- 28:07Speaker 15: This is Estonian worship by Pass six seventry too. Your
- 28:13Speaker 15: request will be tonight follow my instructions.
- 28:18Speaker 16: And we see the threat rising beyond Ukraine, and I
- 28:22Speaker 16: want to highlight the importance of what happened in Estonia,
- 28:26Speaker 16: where for the.
- 28:27Speaker 1: First time.
- 28:30Speaker 16: Or Russia responded to economic sanctions by members of the
- 28:36Speaker 16: Alliance with military action.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yes, in response, Russia actually sent a fighter jet to
- 28:45Speaker 2: scare the Estonians and of course later stopped another ship
- 28:50Speaker 2: that was coming from Estonia. Well we don't have that,
- 28:58Speaker 2: but yes, they sent fighter jet AMGH right over those ships.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Joining me is Peter Jennings, a former Deputy Secretary for
- 29:05Speaker 2: Strategy in the Defense Department and our Director of Strategic
- 29:09Speaker 2: Analysis Australia. Is also co author of a book that
- 29:13Speaker 2: I did have here but I've put away. I know
- 29:15Speaker 2: there it is no higher priority spelling exactly what we
- 29:20Speaker 2: do need to spend on our own military with the
- 29:23Speaker 2: world getting so much more dangerous. Peter Jennings, thank you
- 29:27Speaker 2: so much for your time. What does this confrontation Russia
- 29:31Speaker 2: actually sending a jet fighter to intimidate the Estonians as
- 29:36Speaker 2: they're stopping a Greek tanker apparently filled with Russian oil.
- 29:43Speaker 17: Yes, a Tanka, which was actually breaking sanctions against Russia
- 29:47Speaker 17: for its second invasion of Ukraine. What's happening amongst quite
- 29:54Speaker 17: a number of European states is a very deep concern
- 30:00Speaker 17: that Russia is not going to stop its military adventurism
- 30:03Speaker 17: at the borders of Ukraine, that it is actually interested
- 30:07Speaker 17: in bringing back under the control of what used to
- 30:09Speaker 17: be the old Soviet Union's borders, countries like Latvia, Lithuania,
- 30:15Speaker 17: and Estonia, the Baltic countries. The Scandinavians are particularly worried,
- 30:21Speaker 17: and we're seeing in all of these significant increases in
- 30:26Speaker 17: terms of defense expenditure and preparation for military conflict. We're
- 30:30Speaker 17: also seeing the Russians engaging in cyber attacks and other
- 30:34Speaker 17: forms of intimidation. Really to make a point that Russia
- 30:38Speaker 17: is on a military role, I agree with you, Andrew.
- 30:42Speaker 17: I mean this is not being reported to anywhere near
- 30:44Speaker 17: the extent that it should in Australia. We need to
- 30:47Speaker 17: understand that the Europeans are now gearing for what they
- 30:50Speaker 17: think is the risk of a serious military conflict flowing
- 30:52Speaker 17: on from Ukraine.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And a lot of.
- 30:55Speaker 17: The calculation around whether this will eventuate or not comes
- 31:00Speaker 17: down to Putin's estimate of how far Donald Trump will
- 31:04Speaker 17: go to support his traditional NATO allies. So you know,
- 31:08Speaker 17: our own governments talk about being in the worst strategic
- 31:11Speaker 17: situation since the end of the Second World War. That
- 31:14Speaker 17: statement is true. They often don't give much content to it,
- 31:17Speaker 17: but that statement is true, and it's true in Europe,
- 31:20Speaker 17: and it's something that Australians should be increasingly aware of.
- 31:25Speaker 2: So you've now got I mean, the neighbors of Russia
- 31:30Speaker 2: are so worried that You've got Sweden spending millions to
- 31:35Speaker 2: refurbish and expand bomb shelters in preparation for a nuclear war.
- 31:40Speaker 2: You've got countries like Finland withdrawing from treaties against anti
- 31:46Speaker 2: personal minds so that they can lay mines against the
- 31:49Speaker 2: border with Russia. You've got Poland increasing its defense has
- 31:54Speaker 2: expenditure to five percent to ramp up its military. You've
- 31:58Speaker 2: got Germany for the first time since World War two
- 32:01Speaker 2: basing troops in a foreign country, Lithuania, in order to
- 32:05Speaker 2: help deter and attack on Lithuania as well. I mean,
- 32:09Speaker 2: how real is the threat to Europe from Russia?
- 32:14Speaker 1: It is real.
- 32:15Speaker 17: I mean we're also seeing conscription coming back in a
- 32:18Speaker 17: number of countries, and I believe the French recently circulating
- 32:23Speaker 17: to their population essentially a briefing note on how to
- 32:27Speaker 17: prepare for greater instability and risk. Yes, I think for
- 32:33Speaker 17: the world, the possibility of a broader war in Europe
- 32:37Speaker 17: emerging over the next twelve to twenty four months is
- 32:41Speaker 17: much higher than it has been really since the fall
- 32:43Speaker 17: of the Berlin Wool. And that matches a judgment from
- 32:47Speaker 17: the Americans and many in our own intelligence community about
- 32:51Speaker 17: the risk of conflict in the Indo Pacific region at
- 32:56Speaker 17: some time in the next half of the twenty twenties.
- 33:00Speaker 17: You know, we're in a dire state. Our governments are
- 33:03Speaker 17: aware of it, but they just don't know how to
- 33:05Speaker 17: talk to the Australian people about it. And I think
- 33:08Speaker 17: we should be paying more attention to the European experience
- 33:10Speaker 17: and what's happening amongst some of our Asian partners to
- 33:13Speaker 17: understand the seriousness.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Also the government. This government doesn't want to offend China
- 33:19Speaker 2: or anything by talking truth to Australians about just what
- 33:22Speaker 2: the danger is to an extraordinary story, Peter Jennings, an
- 33:26Speaker 2: official military inquiry into a fatal crash of one of
- 33:29Speaker 2: our military's Taipan helicopters two years ago now blamed pilot error,
- 33:36Speaker 2: not any mechanical failure. Peter, can you tell us why
- 33:41Speaker 2: this should shame the Albanizi government?
- 33:47Speaker 1: Andrew?
- 33:47Speaker 17: It's an astonishing story because after that tragic crash crash
- 33:52Speaker 17: in which four eighty f members lost their lives, the
- 33:56Speaker 17: helicopter are concerned. The entire fleet of those helicop was
- 34:01Speaker 17: permanently grounded, and the decision was taken not long after
- 34:05Speaker 17: that to actually cut those helicopters up, over forty of them,
- 34:10Speaker 17: which we had bought at a cost of over four
- 34:13Speaker 17: billion dollars. Their engines were sold and the unsaleable parts
- 34:18Speaker 17: were cut up and buried as landfill. What that has
- 34:23Speaker 17: meant is that our own army has not had the
- 34:26Speaker 17: capacity to provide troop lift in utility helicopters for the
- 34:31Speaker 17: Australian Army, which is something that you need very definitely
- 34:35Speaker 17: For example, if you're going to do a stabilization operation
- 34:37Speaker 17: of the type that we did in Team War twenty
- 34:39Speaker 17: years ago, and looked briefly about a year ago, we
- 34:44Speaker 17: might have been called upon to do in Port Moresby
- 34:47Speaker 17: in Papua New Guinea.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Now, now, how did this come about?
- 34:51Speaker 17: As you say, this report has demonstrated what was widely
- 34:55Speaker 17: understood at the time to be an accident that took
- 34:58Speaker 17: place as a result of human error, not mechanical failure.
- 35:01Speaker 17: And yet four billion dollars of military capability was destroyed
- 35:05Speaker 17: off the back of that without there being an adequate
- 35:07Speaker 17: replacement in country. So these helicopters are due to be
- 35:12Speaker 17: replaced by American black Hawks, but they're not in Australia
- 35:15Speaker 17: in sufficient numbers to provide a real military capability. Andrew,
- 35:19Speaker 17: we need some answers to this. We've never had a
- 35:21Speaker 17: convincing explanation from the Defense Minister, the Chief of Defense Force,
- 35:24Speaker 17: the Secretary of Defense, the Chief of Army. Why did
- 35:27Speaker 17: this happen? All the explanations have been frankly shonky in
- 35:31Speaker 17: the extreme. These are helicopters that we could have provided
- 35:35Speaker 17: to the Ukrainians, which would have been essential in that
- 35:38Speaker 17: fight against Russia.
- 35:39Speaker 1: We didn't do that either.
- 35:41Speaker 17: You know, this absolutely stinks and it needs to be investigated.
- 35:46Speaker 1: So does the delay in telling us the truth. Peter.
- 35:49Speaker 2: That's also very weird to me. Peter Jennys, thank you
- 35:54Speaker 2: so much for your time. I mean, that is a scandal.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That is a scandal. After the break and ABC journalist
- 36:00Speaker 2: plays the gender card to skip the que a shameless.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I want to go back to my story at the
- 36:09Speaker 2: top of the show, and it's not simply the assassination
- 36:12Speaker 2: of those two young Jewish diplomats by someone yelling free,
- 36:16Speaker 2: free Palestine, but the fake story that broke the day
- 36:21Speaker 2: before that shooting, the fake claim by UNAID official top
- 36:25Speaker 2: official about Israel starving babies to death.
- 36:29Speaker 11: There are fourteen thousand babies that will die in the
- 36:32Speaker 11: next forty eight hours unless we can reach them.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Join mister Powell, Evelyn Ray, Farmer, former policewoman, Sky News regular,
- 36:38Speaker 2: and James McPherson from the late debate here on sky News.
- 36:42Speaker 2: James the Ewen has quickly confessed that the story was
- 36:46Speaker 2: actually false, totally false. But that figure forty thousand babies
- 36:51Speaker 2: dying in two days like right now was never believable
- 36:55Speaker 2: unless you really think Israel is so satanic and wilfully
- 36:58Speaker 2: killing more babies and anyone was actually noticing. Yet the
- 37:02Speaker 2: ABC reported it that claim, the SBS reported that claim,
- 37:07Speaker 2: and the left wing Guardian Australia reported that claim.
- 37:10Speaker 1: And I've seen no corrections at all. What does that
- 37:13Speaker 1: tell you.
- 37:14Speaker 12: Well, let's consider the claim fourteen thousand babies dead in
- 37:17Speaker 12: forty eight hours, except it wasn't all babies, it wasn't
- 37:21Speaker 12: that they would all be dead, and it was a
- 37:23Speaker 12: period of twelve months, not forty eight hours. So this
- 37:26Speaker 12: is not a case of you said Tomato, I said Tomato.
- 37:29Speaker 12: The United Nations official who promoted this news was either
- 37:34Speaker 12: grossly incompetent or malicious. The ABC, Guardian and SBS, however,
- 37:39Speaker 12: have no such excuse. They know full well by now
- 37:44Speaker 12: that it was completely false. So for them to not
- 37:47Speaker 12: have corrected the record is not a bag of ignorance.
- 37:50Speaker 12: It can only be a matter of maliciousness towards Israel
- 37:54Speaker 12: and sadly Andrew. Over the course of the past almost
- 37:57Speaker 12: two years, we've seen quite a bit of this from
- 38:00Speaker 12: our state media here in Australia, a clear anti Israel
- 38:04Speaker 12: bias and a failure to correct the record when they
- 38:07Speaker 12: get it wrong, you.
- 38:09Speaker 1: See, everyone.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I think it is the propensity to believe the absolute worst.
- 38:15Speaker 2: And I find I was thinking about that even before
- 38:18Speaker 2: this latest example.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I was thinking about this on the weekend.
- 38:21Speaker 2: You know, I'm sure terrible things are happening in Gaza,
- 38:25Speaker 2: but I now automatically think, am I being lied to
- 38:28Speaker 2: by the people who say, you know, I looked as
- 38:30Speaker 2: a massacre.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Hero of this or that or that?
- 38:32Speaker 2: Because the lies are so many and the corrections are
- 38:35Speaker 2: so few.
- 38:37Speaker 11: Absolutely, I don't think this should come as a surprise
- 38:40Speaker 11: to anyone. You know, it should surprise as we should
- 38:43Speaker 11: live in a day and age where you know, information
- 38:46Speaker 11: and media and news gets better with time and we
- 38:48Speaker 11: don't regress. But sadly, like you said, you just really
- 38:51Speaker 11: don't know what to believe these days. And I mean
- 38:53Speaker 11: we saw this time and time again. We saw it
- 38:56Speaker 11: at the beginning of the Russia Ukraine War. We saw
- 38:59Speaker 11: it carry throughout that, We've seen it throughout COVID. I mean,
- 39:02Speaker 11: look at all the misinformation and propaganda that was pushed
- 39:05Speaker 11: by not only our media but our politicians during that
- 39:08Speaker 11: particular time. And I think it's just time for us
- 39:11Speaker 11: to face reality that there are some news outlets out
- 39:14Speaker 11: there that have absolutely no shame in regurgitating blatant propaganda
- 39:20Speaker 11: and lies. By the time corrections come around, if they
- 39:24Speaker 11: ever do, it's done three laps around the sun and back,
- 39:27Speaker 11: and you know, the you know, the truth is so
- 39:30Speaker 11: far lost. It's like Chinese whispers and people just don't
- 39:33Speaker 11: know what to believe. But you know, I think to
- 39:35Speaker 11: some extent there is bias that is unavoidable. I mean,
- 39:38Speaker 11: I'm a Christian, so of course I'm going to be
- 39:40Speaker 11: biased towards things like that. However, the only thing I
- 39:43Speaker 11: think we need to be really mindful of is the
- 39:46Speaker 11: fact that God has given us a brain and is
- 39:50Speaker 11: as well. And with this day and age, with the Internet,
- 39:52Speaker 11: I think it's time we start, you know, having to
- 39:54Speaker 11: do a little bit more of our own research and
- 39:57Speaker 11: use both of those things that God gave us.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Unfortunately, people gave everyone a brain, but not everyone has.
- 40:04Speaker 1: A faultish detector.
- 40:07Speaker 2: At the National's press conference today, James ABC reported Patricia Carvelas,
- 40:13Speaker 2: who's quite militant about these things, played the gender card
- 40:17Speaker 2: to advance herself and push your head of the queue,
- 40:20Speaker 2: and played it after several female journalists there had already
- 40:24Speaker 2: asked questions, listen to this.
- 40:27Speaker 7: Breaches and breaks trust?
- 40:31Speaker 1: What exactly a question?
- 40:33Speaker 5: I feel like a lot of blokes that have been
- 40:34Speaker 5: asking questions be nice if I could asked the question
- 40:36Speaker 5: trash your car vellos, Thank you very much.
- 40:38Speaker 9: I've just observed this.
- 40:41Speaker 2: And after all that fuss she made about gender politics there, James,
- 40:44Speaker 2: she still made the female politicians step aside for the bloke.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Your reaction to.
- 40:49Speaker 12: That, I just thought it was comedy, gold Andrew. We
- 40:53Speaker 12: want a quality, we also want special treatment. Let the
- 40:56Speaker 12: woman speak, but don't let the woman answer. I mean,
- 40:59Speaker 12: you couldn't write this sort of stuff. It was fantastic
- 41:02Speaker 12: and I want to see more of Patricia Cavellis. I
- 41:04Speaker 12: think she's brilliant.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Oh, for heaven's sake, Evelyn.
- 41:10Speaker 2: The liberals used to criticize Anthony Albanese if you're not
- 41:13Speaker 2: going to see Donald Trump at the White House, I
- 41:15Speaker 2: tell you what. It's looking smarter and smarter for Albanizi
- 41:18Speaker 2: to say right away after what Trump did, first to
- 41:21Speaker 2: the Ukrainian president and now to South Africa's president, playing
- 41:25Speaker 2: a five minute video at him, claiming that you know
- 41:29Speaker 2: he was party to a genocide of white farmers in
- 41:31Speaker 2: his country. Do you think it's safe to go to
- 41:34Speaker 2: the White House when you get an invite?
- 41:37Speaker 7: Oh?
- 41:38Speaker 11: Look, I'm not sure Albanese is being smart as much
- 41:40Speaker 11: as he is being a coward. I mean, I think
- 41:43Speaker 11: it was once upon a time, Anthony Alberanze said, Donald
- 41:46Speaker 11: Trump scares the bim out of me. So perhaps he's
- 41:49Speaker 11: shaking in his boots considering what everybody else has had
- 41:52Speaker 11: to endure at the White House lately.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Fair enough, I think at the moment everther Ray Jameson first,
- 42:00Speaker 2: thank you very much to you both. After the break
- 42:02Speaker 2: the total immigration fast illegal immigrants actually diverted boats that
- 42:09Speaker 2: were trying to celebrate reenact the rescue of British troops
- 42:13Speaker 2: at Dunkirk. Illegal immigration crisis in Britain is such a
- 42:21Speaker 2: face and yesterday was the ultimate symbol of it. They
- 42:25Speaker 2: had a flotilla of sixty six little ships sailing from
- 42:30Speaker 2: England bound for Dunkirk in France to commemorate how a
- 42:33Speaker 2: similar fleet eighty five years ago famously rescued a trapped
- 42:38Speaker 2: British army in World War Two, more than thirty three
- 42:42Speaker 2: hundred thousand soldiers. They rescued from the Nazis. But this
- 42:46Speaker 2: flotilla was forced to divert because British Coast Guard ships
- 42:50Speaker 2: and a French Warships warship was coming the other way
- 42:54Speaker 2: to actually escort a boat coming from France with the
- 42:58Speaker 2: legal immigrants. It's amazing joining me from Creek this time
- 43:02Speaker 2: on holidays, so we're very grateful, is Patrick Christie, Star
- 43:05Speaker 2: presenter of gb News. Patrick, thanks for joining us on
- 43:10Speaker 2: your holiday. But I must say I'm looking at nervously
- 43:12Speaker 2: behind you in case the is a tsunami coming, because
- 43:15Speaker 2: you just had a six point one Richter scale earthquake
- 43:18Speaker 2: and that is actually quite severe.
- 43:21Speaker 18: It is actually we were shaken awake this morning by
- 43:26Speaker 18: the earthquake and then we were told the tsunami warning.
- 43:28Speaker 18: I will be honest with you. The locals do seem
- 43:30Speaker 18: completely unbothered about this, so we are very unbothered. So
- 43:35Speaker 18: I've got the sea in front of me, so it
- 43:38Speaker 18: starts to retreat Andrew then I'm gonna lag it. But
- 43:40Speaker 18: we do have some very concerning stuff going on back
- 43:42Speaker 18: in Britain, as you alluded to there, and it makes
- 43:45Speaker 18: me absolutely sick with rage to hear what you were
- 43:48Speaker 18: saying just that, you know, the anniversary tribute of Operation Dynamo,
- 43:53Speaker 18: or Dunkirk as it's known, was meant to be a
- 43:55Speaker 18: poignant tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the one
- 43:59Speaker 18: thousand British pleasure boats who were used to rescue about
- 44:02Speaker 18: three hundred thousand Allied soldiers from that Nazi invasion of France.
- 44:07Speaker 18: You know, what do these brave men die for? I'm women,
- 44:10Speaker 18: what do these brave men and women fight for? So
- 44:13Speaker 18: that Britain could be slowly invaded by mostly Middle Eastern
- 44:16Speaker 18: and African men. We've hit a grim milestone here, Andrew.
- 44:20Speaker 18: Thirteen thousand illegal migrants have crossed the English Channel so
- 44:25Speaker 18: far this year, and just one case to point out
- 44:29Speaker 18: that highlights exactly how dangerous this is. There is a
- 44:32Speaker 18: case at the moment where it is alleged that an
- 44:34Speaker 18: Iranian man came across on a small boat and was
- 44:37Speaker 18: plotting to attack the Israeli embassy. It is absolutely astonishing
- 44:41Speaker 18: that we couldn't stop a small boat crossing the channel
- 44:43Speaker 18: whilst we are there to commemorate one of the greatest
- 44:46Speaker 18: moments in British military history.
- 44:50Speaker 1: But it's even more bizarre.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Can you explain to me what is a border force
- 44:54Speaker 2: for when it actually, with the help of the French Navy,
- 44:59Speaker 2: escorts a boat of illegal immigrants invading Britain and doesn't
- 45:03Speaker 2: actually do what I would have thought, it's a normal thing,
- 45:06Speaker 2: turn them back.
- 45:09Speaker 18: Yeah, absolutely astonishing. And when I was there in Calais
- 45:12Speaker 18: just a week or so ago, what you will see
- 45:14Speaker 18: is French vessels just patrolling the coast waiting for these
- 45:18Speaker 18: boats to emerge, get a little bit off the shore.
- 45:20Speaker 18: The French picked them up, they dragged them into English waters.
- 45:23Speaker 18: The British fleets then come and get them and Bob's
- 45:26Speaker 18: your uncle, You're into Britain. You know, this is absolutely
- 45:30Speaker 18: insane and you know, I don't want to be having
- 45:33Speaker 18: a go at our border force or anything like that.
- 45:35Speaker 18: Clearly they feel as though their hands are tired. But
- 45:37Speaker 18: how on earth is it beyond the wit of men
- 45:40Speaker 18: to use our border force for border protection and not
- 45:43Speaker 18: for the invasion of Britain. It is a massive slap
- 45:46Speaker 18: in the face. There is one town in England, now Andrew,
- 45:49Speaker 18: that had one so called asylum seeker in it until recently,
- 45:53Speaker 18: and now it has seven hundred. And that is the
- 45:56Speaker 18: case right across England. What on Earth is going not.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It's so astonishing.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I don't know why they don't just cut out the middlemen,
- 46:05Speaker 2: just give them more a passer to take the channel,
- 46:11Speaker 2: the train through the Channel straight into Britain. Why make
- 46:15Speaker 2: them risk the sea if they're going to escort them anyway.
- 46:19Speaker 1: It's just so insane.
- 46:21Speaker 2: But there is a pattern here of not defending your borders.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Your government was due today, in fact about right now, Patrick,
- 46:31Speaker 2: to give away the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean
- 46:33Speaker 2: in a formal ceremony, give them to more Ricious, which
- 46:38Speaker 2: is a pro China country two thousand kilometers away, and
- 46:41Speaker 2: also to pay mauritious billions so that Britain could keep
- 46:46Speaker 2: the British and American.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Naval base there at Diego Garcia.
- 46:50Speaker 2: But just this morning your time, around two twenty five am,
- 46:54Speaker 2: the Hard Court said, stop, what on earth is going
- 46:57Speaker 2: on in your strange country?
- 47:00Speaker 18: Well, kis starmer. Our prime minister is getting a taste
- 47:02Speaker 18: of his own medicine. Because normally it's the left, he's
- 47:03Speaker 18: holding up what conservative people want to do in the courts.
- 47:06Speaker 18: But now they're having it the other way around. But
- 47:08Speaker 18: what it turns out is shock horror. Andrew he's not
- 47:11Speaker 18: bothered to consult the Chegossian people, right, so, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 18: for all of its human rights and fairness and anti
- 47:17Speaker 18: colonialism guff that he likes to trot out. Two Chegossian
- 47:21Speaker 18: women have now brought a court case against him, which
- 47:24Speaker 18: is granted a stay about execution. They say, rightly, so
- 47:26Speaker 18: in my view it's against their human rights to just
- 47:28Speaker 18: palm their country off to another nation. But the fact
- 47:32Speaker 18: is we have a labor prime minister who doesn't see
- 47:34Speaker 18: anything wrong with giving away British sovereign territory to appease
- 47:38Speaker 18: a ridiculous international court ruling that was handed down in
- 47:41Speaker 18: part by a Chinese judge who backed Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
- 47:45Speaker 18: And that tells you everything that you need to know
- 47:47Speaker 18: about the kind of man that's running our country right now.
- 47:49Speaker 18: And you want the icing on top of the cake.
- 47:51Speaker 18: Andrew kis Darmer, our prime minister. One of his best
- 47:54Speaker 18: friends is the lawyer for Mauritius.
- 47:56Speaker 8: So there you go.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Oh my goodness occurred to the government to say you
- 48:02Speaker 2: want the Trago silence, try taking them office.
- 48:06Speaker 18: Yeah yeah, Well, well it's well armed, isn't it. We've
- 48:09Speaker 18: got a US and a UK military base on there.
- 48:11Speaker 18: I don't really think that the might of Mauritius have
- 48:13Speaker 18: been able to take that office, but alas we have
- 48:16Speaker 18: handed it over without a shot being fired, and Mauritius
- 48:20Speaker 18: of course cozying up to China. I mean, doesn't take
- 48:22Speaker 18: a genius to work out what's going on here. Really,
- 48:24Speaker 18: we're basically giving this base in a roundabout way to China.
- 48:28Speaker 18: And look at what happened with Hong Kong for example,
- 48:30Speaker 18: China known for sticking to international.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Patrick crists have a great time in Crete.
- 48:37Speaker 2: It's a hot island, but a fascinating one, Thank you
- 48:40Speaker 2: so much. That's it from me, Coming up next, Sherry
- 48:43Speaker 2: markson good Night
