- 0:28able to view this article right now. I don't know
- 0:30if it's you got a certain amount of freebies a
- 0:32month or whatever that may be. But anyway, right now,
- 0:35it's not behind a paywall. So you can click on
- 0:38the link and you can check it out. And there's
- 0:41a certificate Virgin Islands Banking Board, Certificate of licensure. That's
- 0:46the first thing you'll see. And it's about Jeffrey Epstein's bank.
- 0:49So let's hop into the article and see what they
- 0:51have to say about it. This article was written by
- 0:54Matthew Goldstein and Steve Eder February fourth, twenty twenty. In
- 1:00the years after Jeffrey Epstein registered as a sex offender,
- 1:03he closed his money He closed his money management firm
- 1:06and started a business to develop algorithms and mind DNA
- 1:09and financial databases. Then he set up a bank. In
- 1:13a banking license application reviewed by The New York Times,
- 1:16mister Epstein described himself as one of the investing world's
- 1:19pioneers and said he wanted to pursue the dynamic discipline
- 1:23of international banking. Really, come on, you know what he
- 1:29really means by that? Okay, translation, I want to be
- 1:33involved in banking even more so I can siphon off
- 1:35more money, launder more money, and commit even more evil deeds.
- 1:39That's basically what he's saying. Officials in the Virgin Islands,
- 1:43the United States territory where mister Epstein set up most
- 1:46of his businesses, approved a license for him in twenty
- 1:49fourteen to run one of the territory's first international banking entities,
- 1:54a specialized bank that can do business only with offshore clients.
- 1:58The approval was on you, given mister Epstein's status as
- 2:02a convicted sex offender. See isn't that nice? Remember what
- 2:05I was telling you guys about the Virgin Islands For
- 2:07the last I don't know two weeks now about how
- 2:09they're trying to get it on both ends of the deal, right.
- 2:11They wet their beak in the original Jeffrey Epstein, you know,
- 2:16Reign of Terror, when they were looking the other way,
- 2:18and now they want to flip it and they want
- 2:20a little piece on the back end as well. So again,
- 2:24let's not let's not make pretend that the Virgin Islands
- 2:27or Denise George or any of these people that are
- 2:29involved in this, in this this skullduggery down there, really
- 2:32care about the survivors, folks, because they do not. Okay,
- 2:35if they did, If they did, what they would do
- 2:38is just make sure that these people weren't spending any
- 2:41more money on any sort of stupid upkeeper or anything,
- 2:44and make sure all of that money gets frozen and
- 2:47at at the proper time it gets distributed to those who, uh,
- 2:53those who are deemed to be deserving of it. So
- 2:56that would be every single one of these girls that
- 2:58has come forward in my opinion. Okay, the Bank Southern
- 3:02Country International renewed its license for each of the next
- 3:05five years, but it's unclear whether it conducted any business
- 3:09or had any customers. Mister Epstein, who died while in
- 3:12federal custody last summer following his arrest on sex trafficking charges,
- 3:16does not appear to have done any marketing for the
- 3:19bank or hired much staff. Of course he didn't. Okay,
- 3:24it was a front. This was a front company. No
- 3:26different than sayah mafia don has a pizza shop. It's
- 3:30the same thing. Another way to clean his money, launder
- 3:33his money. Now, what's next, a car wash like Eisenberg?
- 3:38I mean, come on, it's so transparent what he was
- 3:41doing and what all of his friends do all the time.
- 3:45The bank was created under a territorial law that lacked
- 3:48many of the oversight requirements banks are usually subject to,
- 3:52and its regulatory file is largely empty. A lawyer from
- 3:56mister Epstein told officials in the Virgin Islands in twenty
- 3:59eighteen that Southern Country had not commenced operations, and regulators
- 4:03in the territory said they did not exercise oversight of
- 4:06the bank because it did not appear to be doing
- 4:09any business. I find that hard to believe. I not
- 4:11that there weren't doing any business, but that the officials
- 4:14weren't exercising oversight because it wasn't doing any business, more
- 4:19like they got paid off folks. Do I have any
- 4:21evidence of that? Of course I do not. But we
- 4:23all know that drifting like that is the oldest game
- 4:26in the book for these people. Since even before Tammany Hall,
- 4:30that's been going on here in America. So if you
- 4:32don't think it's happening down in the Virgin Islands, think again.
- 4:37And yet, after mister Epstein's death, his estate transferred more
- 4:41than twelve million dollars to Southern Country, according to court documents.
- 4:46On Tuesday, at a court hearing in the Virgin Islands
- 4:48on motions involving mister Epstein's estate, a magistrate, Judge Carolyn
- 4:53Herman Purcell questioned the estate's lawyers about the transfers to
- 4:57Southern Country, saying the disclosure was not said satisfactory. The
- 5:01judge said she did she did not know why Southern
- 5:04Country would be receiving checks from the estate. There's no
- 5:07explanation for it, she said, h yeah, there's an explanation
- 5:11for it. They're laundering money. They're putting the money there
- 5:14so they can hide it so that they don't have
- 5:16to give it to the people who deserve it. Okay,
- 5:20and that's what it's all about. That's what these people
- 5:21do all the time. That's their stick, folks. They're going
- 5:25to make sure that they don't have to pay out
- 5:28anything if they can help it, all right, that's they
- 5:30don't want to pay out anything. A lawyer for the
- 5:34estate responded that some of the payment had been made
- 5:36in error, but the judge was not satisfied with his
- 5:39response and asked him to follow up with a fuller
- 5:42accounting the checks listed in the estates. Transactions for routine
- 5:46routine payments such as cable, TV bills and phone service
- 5:49from mister Epstein's many properties stand out. The list of
- 5:52payments were filed with Judge Herman Purcell, who is overseeing
- 5:56his six hundred and thirty five million dollar estate, including
- 5:59the possible establishment of compensation fund for his victims. Again, folks,
- 6:04why why did his properties still need cable? Why do
- 6:08they need TV, cable bill and phone service? There should
- 6:12be nobody in those properties. They should be seized, they
- 6:14should be closed, and they should be taped up. Okay,
- 6:18nobody should be in those properties. And these properties that
- 6:21are sitting there should not be siphoning money from the
- 6:24grand total of his estate. That money should be going
- 6:28to the survivors. What in the hell is going on
- 6:32that mister Epstein was able to get a banking license
- 6:34in the first place as unusual. No, it's not, no,
- 6:37it's not okay. He paid people off in the Virgin Islands.
- 6:41They all knew what he was doing, and now this
- 6:44whole entire fiasco is coming back on them. So Denise
- 6:48George is trying to save face by saying she's gonna
- 6:50go after Epstein's estate as well. That's my opinion of
- 6:53the whole situation. But there is no way anybody can
- 6:56tell me that these people, these officials in the Virgin
- 6:59Islands were getting their palms greased. Sorry, that's a bunch
- 7:02of bs. We've seen. We've seen the evidence of Jeffrey
- 7:06Epstein's spreading the wealth around. We've seen it. His two
- 7:10thousand and eight conviction in Florida on a charge of
- 7:12soliciting prostitution from an underage girl required him to register
- 7:17as a sex offender. I don't even again. I hate
- 7:19when they write that soliciting prostitution from an underage girl.
- 7:22If you're an underage girl, you cannot be a prostitute.
- 7:26What a ridiculous law that was on Florida's books. Really
- 7:29glad they got rid of that one. Most bank operators
- 7:32doing business in the United States are required to undergo
- 7:35rigorous background checks, and most banking institutions are subject to
- 7:39oversight by the Arm of the Treasury that investigates suspicial
- 7:43financial tried and transactions. Neither was required by the Virgin
- 7:47Islands when mister Epstein submitted the application in twenty thirteen. Again,
- 7:52why do you think that is, folks? Do you think
- 7:54it's just because the Virgin Islands decided, Ah, you know what,
- 7:57we're gonna let Epstein pass. He's a nice guy, we
- 7:59like shoes. Or was it that Epstein had been greasing palms,
- 8:06making everybody eat, giving everybody that bag, and they decided, well, look,
- 8:10we're gonna keep this gravy train rolling. It's not our kids.
- 8:13What do we care? And that's you know what, that's
- 8:15the harsh reality of a folks. I don't mean to
- 8:17be so abrasive with it, but that's the harsh reality
- 8:20that these people look at it and they say, well,
- 8:22it's not our kids, what the hell do we care?
- 8:24When in reality, any right thinking human being looks at
- 8:27a situation like this and says to themselves, how could
- 8:31you ever enable somebody like Jeffrey Epstein? But we all
- 8:35know in politics and in this part, in this kind
- 8:38of this kind of walk of life, money talks, folks,
- 8:41money talks, and it's it's the be all end all
- 8:44to these evil people. The territory had passed its International
- 8:48Banking Entity law a year earlier in hopes of enticing
- 8:52investment from overseas. It modeled its law on that of
- 8:56Puerto Rico, where international banking entities have existed for three
- 8:59days decades. Such organizations are attractive to offshore investors because
- 9:04the banks are able to offer more favorable tax treatment
- 9:07than the investors' own countries can. In return, the territories
- 9:11expect residents to manage the banks even though they cannot
- 9:14use the bank's services. Crazy. So all of these loopholes
- 9:18are crazy. Like I was saying earlier about the Virgin Islands. Look,
- 9:22I'm obviously not an expert on law, and certainly no
- 9:25expert on law in the Virgin Islands. But if you
- 9:27don't think the politicians are corrupt as hell down there,
- 9:30and if you don't think they're grifting like an MF
- 9:33you have another thing coming. Okay, they create all these loopholes.
- 9:36And when was anybody going to look at the Virgin
- 9:39Islands besides as a vacation spot. Until this Jeffrey Epstein
- 9:42stuff popped up. These guys were escaping all sorts of
- 9:45scrutiny because of Jeffrey Epstein, I mean, because they were
- 9:48off the radar. Then now Epstein, well they're smack dab
- 9:52in the middle of everybody's radar at this point. Now right,
- 9:57these specialized banks have drawn scrutiny because of their potential
- 10:00for abuse, including money laundering. Again, folks, that's very important.
- 10:04Let's remember that money laundering. Okay, So now we have
- 10:07we know that he laundered money, We know that he
- 10:10transported girls and children across state lines for trafficking, we
- 10:16know that we know that he threatened people, We know
- 10:19that he was involved in an ongoing criminal conspiracy, and
- 10:23we know that because we have the evidence of all
- 10:25of this. And that's just four quick things right off
- 10:28the top of my head that he was definitely involved in,
- 10:30all right, and all four of those things can get
- 10:32you slapped with rico. How is this man? How wasn't
- 10:36this man? And how aren't his associates slapped with RICO.
- 10:40I just don't understand it. I just it's beyond me.
- 10:46It is absolutely beyond me, folks. The Federal Reserve Bank
- 10:51of New York describes international bank entities as in the
- 10:54Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico as high risk institutions. Last year,
- 10:58it temporarily suspends applications for them to obtain financial services
- 11:02from the FED until it can issue stricter rules for them. Look,
- 11:07I'm not even going to begin to act like I
- 11:10understand the nuances of these financial institutions and these high
- 11:15risk financial institutions, because I do not, So I'm not
- 11:18gonna run my fat yap too much about those. But
- 11:22it strikes me as odd that the Federal Reserve would,
- 11:25even even though they slap them with a high risk institution,
- 11:28they let them go into business. Why would you even
- 11:30let a place like this go into business. Meanwhile you're
- 11:33sending you know, Wesley Snipes to jail for tax evasion.
- 11:37It's such a joke. The two tier justice system in
- 11:40this country is such a joke, folks. Mister Epstein was
- 11:44carefully evasive and answering a question on the application that
- 11:48was meant to reveal information about about an applicant's criminal record.
- 11:52His response mentioned his guilty plea to state charges in Florida,
- 11:55but it played down the other elements of the case.
- 11:59For a relatively brief period in what was otherwise been
- 12:01a productive and accomplished life, the application said mister Epstein
- 12:05did face some legal difficulties relating to matters alleged to
- 12:08have taken place seven years ago. The application noted that
- 12:11a federal investigation had been discontinued. Oh yeah, obviously it
- 12:16was discontinued. Huh, you thought it was discontinued. But guess what,
- 12:20this was not gonna go away. This was not going
- 12:23to be swept under the carpet this time. But that
- 12:26answer was misleading, said Richard Scott Carnell, a former Assistant
- 12:30Secretary for Financial Institutions at the Treasury Department. The application
- 12:35did not reflect that mister Epstein's plea deal included an
- 12:37agreement with federal prosecutors who promised not to bring their
- 12:41own charges. The agreement acknowledged that federal authorities had compiled
- 12:45a long list of other possible underage victims. I don't
- 12:50even understand, like any Joe schmoe with computer access can
- 12:56google Jeffrey Epstein and seen what he was guilty of
- 12:59for them to be like, well, he didn't, he didn't
- 13:01declare that in his application. And nobody's checking these people.
- 13:05So anybody can just go get a huh, some high
- 13:09risk bank in the Virgin Islands, anybody at all? How
- 13:13about uh, you know, some some al Qaeda member or
- 13:16some cartel member. I don't even understand what any of
- 13:19this means. Right, Well, how's that even possible? Why is
- 13:23why is the the the Federal Reserve even granting these
- 13:29these sort of institutions the ability to operate. Crazy bank
- 13:36regulators expect applicants to be candid, said mister carnal now
- 13:39in A now an associate professor at Fordham Law School.
- 13:42You never suspect that there was a non prosecution agreement.
- 13:45As a bank regulator, I'd be outraged to learn that
- 13:48an applicant had misled me in that way. Here's an idea,
- 13:51and I know that this is going to be a
- 13:53novel idea. All right, how about if you're working with
- 13:56people that have this that kind of money, and you're
- 13:59getting into business with him, it might be a good idea.
- 14:01To do a basic Google search on them or a
- 14:04duck duck ghost search on them. Probably not the worst
- 14:07idea in the world, Okay for all of these people
- 14:10to use that as an excuse. Oh, I had no
- 14:12idea who this man was, or we had no idea
- 14:15who he was when we gave him this banking license.
- 14:19That's bs. Of course you knew who he was. Would
- 14:22you live under a rock? In his application, mister Epstein
- 14:26listed as references James E. Staley, the chief executive of Barclays,
- 14:31who had cultivated a relationship with mister Epstein while at
- 14:34JP Morgan Chase. Another reference was Andrew Farkas, a New
- 14:38York real estate tycoon and co owner of a marina
- 14:42and office complex on Saint Thomas with mister Epstein. Spokesmen
- 14:46for both men said they had been unaware they were
- 14:48listed as references, along with JP Morgan and First Bank,
- 14:51a Puerto Rico based lender with branches in the Virgin
- 14:54Islands that long held some of mister Epstein's accounts. Of course,
- 14:58they didn't know. Nobody ever knows anything when it has
- 15:02to do with Jeffrey Epstein, do they? Folks see no evil,
- 15:06hear no evil? Speak no evil. That's what they all
- 15:09look like, those monkeys. I hear no evil, see no evil,
- 15:12speak no evil, and that is all of these people.
- 15:16The application was submitted by Erica A. Keller Halls, a
- 15:20longtime tax lawyer for mister Epstein in the Virgin Islands.
- 15:23She did not request return requests for comment. Of course not.
- 15:27She's going to the mattresses too, right, she's hiding out.
- 15:29She's definitely bunkering in. She doesn't want to answer any
- 15:33questions about this, but guess what questions are coming your way.
- 15:37Southern Country had not commenced doing business as of April
- 15:41twenty eighteen, according to correspondence between Missus Keller Halls and
- 15:45the Territory Banking Department. Regulators said the bank was a
- 15:49self reporting company and did not require additional regulatory oversight
- 15:53if it was not operational. Well, maybe you guys should
- 15:55change that in the future. Huh. Well, I mean, you
- 15:58know what, Just leave them to their own devices, no
- 16:00oversights needed, let them longer money, let them do whatever
- 16:03they want, because guess what, it doesn't matter, right, it
- 16:06doesn't matter. It's a free for all. If you have
- 16:08this kind of money, you can steal you can grift,
- 16:11you can lie, you can cheat, you can start endless wars,
- 16:14and obviously you can have trafficking off operations under everybody's nose. Man.
- 16:19That's okay, no big deal. But court documents show Southern
- 16:23Country was active for some of last year. Records filed
- 16:26by the estate on Friday indicate that Southern Country had
- 16:29six hundred and ninety three thousand, one hundred and fifty
- 16:32seven dollars in assets when mister Epstein died on August tenth.
- 16:36Then in mid December, the estate transferred fifteen point five
- 16:40million dollars to Southern Country and two checks. Southern Country
- 16:43sent back two point six million, leaving the total it
- 16:47received at twelve point nine million dollars. The documents filed
- 16:51by the estate do not give a reason for the transfers.
- 16:56Chances are they were laundering money. That's my guess. Okay,
- 16:59I mean again, look, I have no evidence to prove that.
- 17:02But at this point, do you trust anything that has
- 17:05to do with Jeffrey Epstein, his finances, his executors, or
- 17:08anything around this whole entire sworded ordeal in the Virgin Islands,
- 17:12I certainly do not. It's also not clear what Southern
- 17:16Country did with that money. Two weeks later. The year
- 17:20end value of Southern Country's assets was four hundred and
- 17:22ninety nine thou seven hundred and fifty nine dollars, according
- 17:26to the estate's filings. The estate has told officials in
- 17:29the Virgin Islands that it does not intend to renew
- 17:31the bank's license again. Oh that's nice of them. You know,
- 17:34we're not going to renew it again. We've already stole
- 17:36as much as we possibly could, and we've already washed
- 17:39a ton of money here, So no big deal. We
- 17:41don't need that license. Go ahead, you can take it.
- 17:44Around the time the territory granted mister Epstein his banking license,
- 17:48it also gave a lucrative tax break to Southern Trust,
- 17:51a company mister Epstein said was developing sophisticated algorithms to
- 17:55mind DNA and financial databases the tax breaks. The tax
- 18:00break came from the territory's Economic Development Authority, which was
- 18:04approved by the territory's former governor, John Dejon Junior, while
- 18:08his wife, Cecile worked for mister Epstein. Isn't that nice? Folks?
- 18:12You see what I mean here? Do you understand now
- 18:14what I'm talking about how the Virgin Islands is trying
- 18:17to get paid on this on both ends of the deal.
- 18:20All right, You had John DeJong who was the governor
- 18:23and his wife Cecile, who had worked for mister Epstein,
- 18:26and he's the one who approved all of this nonsense. Okay,
- 18:30So come on for Denise George to be going after
- 18:34the estate or why don't you go after the governor
- 18:36and all the other politicians that look the other way
- 18:39or accepted money from Jeffrey Epstein. When is it going
- 18:41to be their time to stand to face justice. Never, right,
- 18:46it's never their time. It's always just the scapegoats. It's
- 18:48always just the low hanging fruit. The tax break granted
- 18:53in twenty thirteen was a boon for mister Epstein. Southern
- 18:56Trust generated about three hundred million in profit in six years,
- 19:00and he paid an effective tax rate of about three
- 19:02point nine percent. If that doesn't make you sick, folks,
- 19:05I don't know what will add that on to all
- 19:08the other nonsense that this guy was involved in. And
- 19:10he was grifting all of this money by hardly paying
- 19:14any taxes. And the people, I mean the government officials
- 19:18of the Virgin Island have the audacity to try and
- 19:21go after his estate. Now, when they were cutting him
- 19:23this sweetheart of a deal, why didn't you tax the
- 19:25shit out of him then? If he was such a
- 19:27bad guy and you all knew what he was, why
- 19:29didn't you tax the shit out of him? Then? Of
- 19:31course you didn't tax him then because you personally were
- 19:34being enriched by it. The source of Southern Trust revenue
- 19:38is not clear. The bare bones corporate filings made by
- 19:41the company and the Virgin Islands do not list any clients.
- 19:44Again another theme of Jeffrey Epstein. One client, hardly any clients,
- 19:48and just another way for him to pack away the fazzules,
- 19:52launder that money and commit all sorts of crimes that
- 19:55should be slapped with rico. Although the Virgin Island was
- 20:00long a place where mister Epstein got his way, it
- 20:02is lately cast itself as one of his victims. In
- 20:06a lawsuit last month, the Attorney General of the Virgin Islands,
- 20:09Denise M. George, said mister Epstein had sullied the territory's
- 20:12reputation with his conduct. She sued mister Epstein's estate, seeking
- 20:16to seize his private islands and dissolve what she said
- 20:19were shell companies acting as fronts for his sex trafficking enterprise.
- 20:24The suit seeks to intervene in the administration of mister
- 20:27Epstein's will to safeguard assets for dozens of his victims,
- 20:31claiming that co executors may have a conflict of interest
- 20:34because they were officers in many of mister Epstein's companies,
- 20:38including Southern Country and Southern Trust. The co executors, Darren
- 20:42Endyke and Richard Kahn, did not request did not answer
- 20:46quests for requests for comment. Judge Herman Purcell, the magistrate
- 20:52judge overseeing the administration of mister Epstein's will in the
- 20:55Virgin Islands, heard arguments on the Attorney General's request at
- 20:58the hearing on Tuesday. The judge said she would issue
- 21:01a ruling at a later date. All right, folks, well
- 21:05this goes into what we talked about last night, how
- 21:08the estate was worth more than we knew, how he
- 21:11made the estate, had made eighty million dollars in his death.
- 21:14And I told you that there was a hearing today,
- 21:17so I thought it would be good to jump in
- 21:19and we'll got to have a full accounting of what
- 21:21went on. And now we know that the judge will
- 21:24be rendering the decision later on in the future. But
- 21:29you understand now, I'm sure you guys all understand right,
- 21:33the Virgin Islands is as acting like a victim here
- 21:36when in reality, the Virgin Islands was an enabler. Okay,
- 21:39The Virgin Islands as a territory enabled Jeffrey Epstein's behavior.
- 21:44They accepted gifts from him, they accepted money from him,
- 21:48and they knew exactly what he was. So forgive me
- 21:52if I don't cry any crocodile tears for the Virgin Islands.
- 21:56All right, folks, if you'd like to contact me, you
- 21:58can do that at Bobby Kapouch at ProtonMail dot com.
- 22:01That's bobbyc ap u Cci at ProtonMail dot com. What's up, everyone,
- 22:09and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. We've been talking
- 22:13about the financial portion of the Jeffrey Epstein criminal enterprise
- 22:18for quite some time here on the podcast, and I
- 22:22think it's one of the most underreported and least talked
- 22:26about portions of this case, which is very odd to
- 22:31me considering we all know that it's the financial ties
- 22:34that bind. We all know that if you follow the money,
- 22:37eventually you're gonna find a criminal. But the government, even
- 22:43after Jeffrey Epstein's death and arrest, they didn't seem to
- 22:47have any desire to follow the money. They didn't seem
- 22:51to have any desire to bring in the proper people
- 22:54to go through this stuff forensically and figure out what
- 22:57the hell went on here, because Jeffrey Epstein was manipulating
- 23:00the system at every turn, whether it be with his
- 23:05offshore money spots, whether it be with business deals or
- 23:12fake charities, even like we're going to talk about today,
- 23:16you name it, Jeffrey Epstein was involved in it. When
- 23:19it comes to financial ill gotten gains and financial misdeeds,
- 23:25Jeffrey Epstein was involved in all of it. And it's
- 23:28something that doesn't get enough talk, because I'll tell you what,
- 23:33if these investigators were really serious about all of this,
- 23:37and they were really serious about bringing the remnants of
- 23:40Jeffrey Epstein's criminal enterprise under heel, they'd slap a RICO
- 23:44charge on all of these people and then they dive
- 23:47into their financials with a fine tooth comb. And until
- 23:51we see that happening, then I have to say we're
- 23:54never getting the full look at what went on here.
- 23:58We're only getting little pieces, right, a little look in
- 24:01the room maybe. Whereas we all know, Glen Maxwell is
- 24:06a disgusting excuse for a human being. She is not
- 24:09the only one involved here. She was the underbossed right,
- 24:13the Epstein's right hand woman, But she wasn't the only
- 24:17one involved. She certainly wasn't involved in the financial angle
- 24:21like Indyke or Khan or some of these other people.
- 24:26So what I would like to see probably never going
- 24:29to see it, But what I would like to see
- 24:31is a nice fat Rico case. All of these people
- 24:34caught up. Anybody who ever had money transferred to them
- 24:38by Jeffrey Epstein has to have a look because we
- 24:42know that all of his money originated from a dark place, right,
- 24:46ill gotten gains. So if you're receiving ill gotten gains
- 24:49from somebody who is caught up in a RICO case,
- 24:52well now you are a target in that Rico case
- 24:55as well. And that's how RICO works, and that's why
- 24:58everybody's so terrified of it. I've seen it firsthand. I've
- 25:03seen RICO apply to people I care about firsthand and
- 25:06seen how it ruined them over illegal sports gambling. By
- 25:11the way, meanwhile, you have Jeffrey Epstein and his friends
- 25:15opening up banks all kinds of crazy shit and no penalties.
- 25:19Nobody's going to jail. His banker doesn't go to jail,
- 25:22his lawyer doesn't go to jail, his accountant doesn't go
- 25:25to jail. And you wonder why people have no faith
- 25:29in the system or in these institutions. All right, today,
- 25:34our article is from the New York Times and the
- 25:38headline of this article is Jeffrey Epstein's charity an image
- 25:42boost built on deception. This article was authored by Steve
- 25:47Etter and Matthew Goldstein. Now we reached back into the
- 25:51vault for this one, folks. This is an article from
- 25:53November twenty six of twenty nineteen. And considering there's a
- 25:58bit of a lull today as far as new news,
- 26:02I thought we'd slide this one in and keep things
- 26:05rolling on the financial track. Jeffrey Epstein's Foundation looked for
- 26:11all the world like a charitable powerhouse. On its websites
- 26:15and then its press releases. The foundation was described as
- 26:18a patron of hospitals, universities and film festivals run by
- 26:23a global philanthropist. And this is what's so galling, right,
- 26:27everybody knew what this guy was up to. All of
- 26:30the scumbags in his atmosphere knew what do you think
- 26:33they sat around and his hubris didn't have him acting
- 26:36in a brazen manner telling these people what he was about,
- 26:39maybe not directly, but hinting at it. And then if
- 26:43you're one of these people hanging out with them all
- 26:44the time, you mean to tell me you never had
- 26:46any questions why he's there without any I mean, with
- 26:50these young girls, where are their parents, his niece or
- 26:54his nephew or anything like that. He just happens to
- 26:56have all of these young girls around and nobody has
- 26:59any questions. The organization, known by various names but usually
- 27:06called the Jay Epstein Virgin Islands Foundation, wasn't officially a
- 27:10charity for much of its existence, having lost its taxes
- 27:14that tax exempt status in two thousand and eight, but
- 27:18it worked to his advantage, helping improve the reputation of
- 27:21mister Epstein, a convicted sex offender, and remember that's what
- 27:25it was all about. After his arrest, Epstein went on
- 27:28the full court press, trying to refurbish his reputation. He
- 27:32wanted to come back into civil society. He wanted to
- 27:36make his comeback, and he was convinced that it was
- 27:38going to be able to happen if these sort of
- 27:41people would help him refurbish his disgusting and beat up reputation.
- 27:46And the sad part is, folks, a lot of these
- 27:48so called eletes, a lot of these scumbags that are
- 27:51out there crowing about this or that they let him
- 27:55do it. There's no investigations, no agents dispatched to go
- 28:01and talk to him, just left up to his own devices,
- 28:06to the perils of everybody else. A review of tax documents,
- 28:14government records, and information provided by federal officials shows that
- 28:18the foundation lost its tax exempt status for an unknown
- 28:21reason in the same year mister Epstein pleaded guilty to
- 28:25soliciting prostitution from a minor and unknown reason. Huh oh,
- 28:29I'm sure it had everything to do with him not
- 28:33being involved with abusing kids, right, it's absurd. We all
- 28:38know what the reason is. But the crazy part is
- 28:41all of these people knew behind the scenes what was
- 28:44going on, and nobody acted. None of these law enforcement officials,
- 28:48none of these officials down in the Virgin Islands who
- 28:51knew what was going on. Nobody all because they were
- 28:54too busy stuffing their pockets full of Jeffrey Epstein's disgusting ass,
- 28:58gross ill gotten mind. In the years between that case
- 29:07and to suicide in August, as he faced federal sex
- 29:09trafficking charges, mister Epstein was unshackled from the rigorous financial
- 29:14disclosures that charities are supposed to file every year with
- 29:17the government, allowing him to exaggerate his philanthropy as he
- 29:21sought to rebuild his reputation. The foundation's portrayals of its
- 29:25giving ranged from simple embellishment to staggering overstatement that means lying, Okay,
- 29:31let's just be very real with what it means. Epstein
- 29:34and his team they were forging everything. If there were
- 29:37anything besides sick, disgusting, twisted, wanna be human beings, they
- 29:42were all liars as well. They sure had a huge
- 29:46idea about who they were, and it certainly didn't match
- 29:50up with reality. One of mister Epstein's websites said the
- 29:56foundation had helped to underwrite the Tribeca Film Festival festival,
- 30:00when in fact it had donated twenty eight thousand dollars
- 30:03to a related organization that offers grants to filmmakers and
- 30:08educational programming to students in New York City. So that's
- 30:12definitely always been a trademark of Epstein. He's always been
- 30:15one of those guys who likes to exaggerate about things.
- 30:20That's why you always have to take what he says
- 30:22with a grain of salt. Right when you hear quotes
- 30:24from Epstein, you know, it's very difficult to take him
- 30:27at face value. The foundation sent out news releases touting
- 30:34donations to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to restore Mark
- 30:39rothcomburles and teach coding to five year olds, claims that
- 30:43officials at the school later called inaccurate. Oh I'm sure
- 30:46they were inaccurate. Again, Look, I don't trust MIT either,
- 30:50considering their relationship with Epstein and the way they're trying
- 30:53to foster their image now and fix their image after
- 30:56it was revealed how deep their ties were with Epstein.
- 31:00Of course they're going to be and cover your ass
- 31:01mode as well. Oh well, we had no idea what
- 31:04was going on here. That's inaccurate. That never happened. It
- 31:09also issued a statement in twenty thirteen saying researchers at
- 31:13Mount Sinai Hospital had made a major advance in breast
- 31:16cancer research with the backing of mister Epstein, although the
- 31:20health system's own release makes no mention of them. I
- 31:24mean stolen valor wearing the Navy seal shit, acting like he's,
- 31:28you know, a big wig here helping out people with
- 31:30breast cancer, which I take umbrage with considering the love
- 31:34of my life battled through stage two B breast cancer
- 31:38a few years ago and it was one of the
- 31:40most grueling, rigorous eighteen months of my I can't can't
- 31:45even explain how rigorous the eighteen months was. It was very,
- 31:49very difficult watching somebody I care about and love more
- 31:52than the world suffer like that and not be able
- 31:54to do anything but provide emotional and mental support, wake
- 31:59up every take her to the doctor, chemotherapy, then onto radiation,
- 32:05then after that still back and forth to the doctors
- 32:08for a while. It is all bad and I don't
- 32:10wish that on nobody. And anybody acting like they're involved
- 32:13in that and helping people who are going through that
- 32:16and they're really not well, they certainly make my list
- 32:20of top scumbags folks, because that is not something to
- 32:23joke around with. It's not something to make pretendre helping
- 32:26out with if you're not, because it's serious business. People's
- 32:30lives are shattered when they're sitting in that hospital room
- 32:33and they get that diagnosis. I'm sorry to tell you
- 32:36have cancer. Let me tell you what. Everything changes that day, folks,
- 32:40Every single thing changes, And it certainly was the case
- 32:44for me. So when I see people out here acting like,
- 32:46you know, they're helping people with cancer and then pulling
- 32:49a pump fake and shit, it really really bothers me.
- 32:55But the most glaring exaggeration appeared on Wikipedia. A username
- 32:59apparent connected to mister Epstein edited the page for the
- 33:03foundation and put its annual outlay at two hundred million
- 33:07dollars a year, just under the amount the Facebook founder
- 33:10Mark Zuckerberg contributed to charity in two thousand and eighteen.
- 33:15Now we know Epstein wasn't dumping that kind to go
- 33:18into any kind of charity, zero chance that money was
- 33:22more better used for his criminal enterprise. In reality, the
- 33:28foundation was worth a small fraction of that amount. According
- 33:31to documents obtained by The New York Times through a
- 33:34public records lawsuit in the Virgin Islands, eighteen years of
- 33:39financial statements showed that just under twenty million dollars flowed
- 33:43into the foundation since it was founded in two thousand,
- 33:46a lot less than the two hundred million. Huh again,
- 33:48you see what I'm talking about with these scumbags. They'll
- 33:51even use this their charity. They'll wrap themselves in this
- 33:54charity stuff and use it as a shield as armor.
- 33:57And I really really detested. It's really gross. It's there's
- 34:02not enough words to really explain the grossness. Of six
- 34:07million was spent on donations in grants, most of the
- 34:10rest paid unspecified general and administrative expenses, and one and
- 34:15a half million dollars in interest for what appears to
- 34:17be an undisclosed debt. Oh an undisclosed debt? Huh? I wonder,
- 34:21I wonder which scumbag was getting that junk of change?
- 34:23Which scumbag had their hands in that pie. The documents,
- 34:28which were filed with the Virgin Islands Division of Corporations
- 34:31and Trademarks do not offer details about where the money
- 34:34came from or ended up. That information would be contained
- 34:39in the public document Form nine ninety that charities are
- 34:42required to file each year with the Internal Revenue Service,
- 34:46but there is just one publicly available Form nine to
- 34:50ninety from the Foundation a single page filing in two
- 34:54thousand and two, and it does not include any information
- 34:58on grants or donation. So you see, here's my big problem.
- 35:02All right. You have all of these government officials and
- 35:04all of these people who are now talking about how
- 35:07these financial crimes occurred and how the SIPs the system
- 35:11was manipulated. Meanwhile, this guy wasn't even filing the right paperwork,
- 35:15wasn't following any of the fencing regulations, and nothing happened
- 35:21to him. There was never an investigation, there was never
- 35:24a raid, nobody was arrested. In fact, he was hooked
- 35:27up in the Virgin Islands. And this is why I
- 35:29say the Virgin Islands should not see one single dollar.
- 35:33They're the ones who let all of this happen down there,
- 35:36all right, so they shouldn't just be let off the hook.
- 35:39The officials down there. Nobody's going to get arrested, none
- 35:42of that. Until that happens. I don't want to hear
- 35:44about the Virgin Islands thinks they should have some of
- 35:46this money because all of this shit happened on all
- 35:49of their watch and nobody wanted to do anything about
- 35:52it until the wall started to fall down. Mister Epstein's
- 35:59website portrayed the Foundation as an organization with high standards
- 36:03and high aspirations for changing the world. I mean, yeah,
- 36:06you know, definitely what it was a definitely an organization
- 36:11with high standards. If high standards to you mean no
- 36:15standards whatsoever. A page from one site described a multi
- 36:20stage grant process that asked applicants to describe how their
- 36:24project was innovative, the pressing need it would address, and
- 36:28an explanation of how they would evaluate their results. The
- 36:31page from twenty ten also said it was vital to
- 36:35understand that the Foundation and another run by mister Epstein
- 36:39were not piggybanks. No, they were away for Epstein to
- 36:42get his claws into some of these scientists or some
- 36:44of these projects, and then that way he can do
- 36:47what he wished with the information, sell it onto his
- 36:49handler or whatever it is. That was the whole goal
- 36:52for Epstein. But that was the term that Martin Shield,
- 37:00a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the Criminal Investigations Division
- 37:04of the IRS, used to describe the Foundation. Its lack
- 37:08of disclosures, he said, could be an overt act of concealment. Oh,
- 37:12it could be. Huh So, where's the irs kicking in
- 37:14the doors. Where's the irs sending in all of the agents? Oh,
- 37:18they only do that if it's you guess what tax
- 37:21days coming, folks, you better make sure yours are filed.
- 37:25It's not clear if such misrepresentations amounted to a crime.
- 37:29False statements meant to fraudently solicit donations are illegal and
- 37:33generally prosecuted by state attorneys general. Yeah, when they're not
- 37:37in the pocket of the accused, when they're not you know,
- 37:41dipping their hands into the trough. Yeah, then then you
- 37:45might have some indictments. But Jeffrey Epstein, no way. The
- 37:48dudo was protected obviously wherever he went and was able
- 37:52to initiate these sorts of schemes, scams and plots, and
- 37:55nobody wanted to do anything about it. The New York's
- 38:00Attorney General's office began inquiring in twenty fifteen whether the Foundation,
- 38:05which said on one of its sites that had had
- 38:07offices in Manhattan and the Virgin Islands, needed to register
- 38:11as a charity in New York. Mister Epstein's longtime lawyer,
- 38:15Darren Endyke, replied that the site was inaccurate and that
- 38:18the foundation was operated out of an office in Saint Thomas.
- 38:22So they can't even get their act together as far
- 38:24as where business is being conducted in this company right, oh,
- 38:29to Virgin Islands or to New York. And then the
- 38:32regulators are just like, oh, okay, whatever you say, mister Epstein,
- 38:36instead of really digging in like they usually do. Eh,
- 38:39we'll move on to an easier target, lower hanging fruit,
- 38:41if you will. Mister Dyke, who is one of two
- 38:45executors of mister Epstein's estate, did not respond to messages
- 38:50seeking comment. Before regulators closed their inquiry, mister Dyke provided
- 38:55them with a copy of a letter the Foundation received
- 38:58from the IRS in two thousand verifying its status as
- 39:01a charitable tax exempt organization. Oh, I'm sure Jeffrey Epstein's
- 39:06getting passports from Saudi Arabia and other countries. You really
- 39:10think he's gonna have a problem pulling some levers here
- 39:13to get tax exempt status. But he never disclosed that
- 39:19the agency had dropped the Foundation from its official role
- 39:22of tax exempt organizations. The foundation was set up as
- 39:26part of mister Epstein's participation in a lucrative program in
- 39:29the Virgin Islands that offered big tax breaks to his
- 39:33businesses financial trust in Southern trust in return for philanthropic
- 39:38commitment to charities in the territory. And you see where
- 39:41the whole asked for. The money comes in now down
- 39:43in the Virgin Islands. But again, these officials are the
- 39:48ones that put Jeffrey Epstein into business, right, they let
- 39:51him set up shop down there. They're the ones that
- 39:53should have been regulating this, going over it with a
- 39:55fine tooth comb, but instead they set it all up.
- 39:58Then they turn around and then they want to play
- 40:00the fool and act like they had no idea. Sorry,
- 40:03that doesn't work. One of mister Epstein's sales pitchs to
- 40:10his wealthy clients was offering tax advantage strategies that sometimes
- 40:14included charitable giving. Reports from the agency that approved the
- 40:18tax incentives show the foundation made more than one point
- 40:22eight million dollars in donations to charities, educational scholarships and symposiums. There.
- 40:28In an emailed statement, the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority
- 40:31said the foundation was established primarily for the purpose of
- 40:35making charitable contributions to the Virgin Islands community. Well one
- 40:40point eight million dollars in donations all right, But public
- 40:43records show it also carried out some unusual transactions. Of
- 40:47course it did. He wasn't being regulated or monitored. He
- 40:50throws one point eight million dollars towards the Virgin Island
- 40:53Economic Development Authority. They look the other way. You guys
- 40:56all know how this game is played. I don't need
- 40:58to explain this to you. I'll been seeing this for
- 41:01how many years now? In twenty seventeen, the foundation, also
- 41:06known as Enhanced Education, cut a check for one hundred
- 41:09and sixty thousand dollars to pay fines mister Epstein incurred
- 41:13for permanent violations on his private islands. Its funds also
- 41:19backed the causes of political officials in the Virgin Islands,
- 41:22including up to thirty thousand dollars to support a computer
- 41:25giveaway by an elected official. The foundation has also contributed
- 41:30tens of thousands of dollars to other groups, including the
- 41:33territory's Chamber of Commerce. So you see, they've already gotten
- 41:37their cut the Virgin Islands. And this is why I'm
- 41:39so adamant about them not getting any more of this money,
- 41:42especially considering we see how a lot of these survivors
- 41:45got lowballed. One hundred and twenty five million one hundred
- 41:48and thirty five million going out to the survivors, a
- 41:50mere one sixth of Jeffrey Epstein's fortune, and the Virgin Islands,
- 41:54with all of this in mind, still thinks they're entitled
- 41:57to a little piece. Federal investigators have taken an interest
- 42:02in the foundation. In August, the FBI contacted the Virgin
- 42:05Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources about the payment
- 42:09to resolve the permit violations. Agents asked whether the department
- 42:13had a policy prohibiting a charitable foundation from paying the penalty,
- 42:18said Jamal Nielsen, a spokesman for the department. He said
- 42:21the contribution did not violate any department rules. Oh, of
- 42:25course it didn't. You know. It never violates any rules
- 42:28when they're the ones benefiting from it, does it. The
- 42:33FBI in New York declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
- 42:37It's not clear how the foundation lost its tax exempt status.
- 42:41It could have given it up or it may have
- 42:43been taken away after an IRS investigation. Eric L. Smith,
- 42:48a spokesman for the IRS, said the agency could not comment,
- 42:52citing federal privacy laws. That's another thing the government likes
- 42:56to do. Right up, there's an investigation. Right now, we
- 42:59can't give you any information. The IRS can also revoke
- 43:04tax exempt status if a foundation fails to file a
- 43:07Form nine ninety for three consecutive years, although that rule
- 43:11took effect in twenty ten. Stephen T. Miller, a former
- 43:15acting IRS Commissioner and now the national director of tax
- 43:19at Alliance Group, said Form nine nineties are vital both
- 43:23for regulators and the general public to understand the finances
- 43:27of a given entity. Zero chance we were ever going
- 43:31to get a look behind the curt and at Jeffrey
- 43:33Epstein's finances. This guy was not a genius, like everybody says,
- 43:38but the dude certainly was good at hiding money and
- 43:41manipulating the financial sector, especially considering all of the people
- 43:45he had dispersed throughout it to help him out. The
- 43:50scant filings by mister Epstein's foundation, he said, showed a
- 43:53lack of transparency, and over the years, mister Epstein operated
- 43:58at least three other charities, including one based in the
- 44:01Virgin Islands. Mister endike is lawyer long served as an
- 44:05officer for mister Epstein's charities and other businesses. Again, Darren
- 44:09Indyke's name all over the place, no indictment, no deposition,
- 44:13no self responsibility. Two of mister Epstein's foundations relied on
- 44:22wealthy business titans to provide millions in seed capital. His
- 44:26co UQ Foundation received about twenty one million in stock
- 44:30and cash from charities of Leslie H. Wexner, the billionaire
- 44:33retail magnate whose company owns Victoria's Secret. Mister Epstein's Gratitude
- 44:38America Foundation received ten million dollars in donations in twenty
- 44:43fifteen from a company tied to the private equity billionaire
- 44:47Leon D. Black. And you see what I mean, folks,
- 44:50Why I call this such a sham. All of these
- 44:52guys are donating to these sham ass foundations and this
- 44:57turns into ill gotten gains. And this is a RICO
- 45:00case right here, right here in front of us. And
- 45:02believe me, I'm certainly no FBI agent or IRS agent
- 45:05or Treasury Department official. But come on, if you're going
- 45:08to slap people with RICO over illegal gambling or wire fraud,
- 45:13you mean to tell me this doesn't deserve at least
- 45:15a full on investigation, a full on look. Mister Epstein's
- 45:21other foundations complied with federal disclosure rules, making his namesake
- 45:26foundation the outlier. It doesn't pass the smell test, said
- 45:31mister Shield, the retired IRS special agent. After his two
- 45:34thousand and eight conviction, mister Epstein took great pains to
- 45:38burnish his reputation, and the foundation played a key role,
- 45:42and so did all of those enablers that were around
- 45:44him that we talk about all the time. In twenty thirteen,
- 45:47a Wikipedia user named Turville made a number of changes
- 45:51to the page for the foundation. The changes including saying
- 45:54he found the foundation had given more than two hundred
- 45:57million dollars to a long list of notable scientist since
- 46:01its inception, then raised its claim further by describing that
- 46:05sum as its approximate annual outlay. So basically just lying
- 46:10about things. This person went on Wikipedia and just started
- 46:13changing the Wikipedia page to all sorts of fanciful whismical bs.
- 46:20The user's name connection to mister Epstein is evident from
- 46:23information he disclosed in New Mexico as a result of
- 46:26his two thousand and eight conviction. He provided a list
- 46:29of online user names, including those used by third party
- 46:33reputation management services he hired. On that list was a
- 46:37Wikipedia handle Turville that does not appear anywhere on the website,
- 46:43but the similar name Turville does, and that user had
- 46:47a particular focus on editing articles about mister Epstein. So
- 46:52you see how this works, right, Epstein out there trying
- 46:55to foster his image, then hits the internet to do
- 46:58a quick sweep to make sure everything lined up. Meanwhile,
- 47:01the irs, the government, nobody's the wiser, hunh, nobody has
- 47:07any idea what's going on. As we continue to dive
- 47:13deeper into this disgusting rabbit hole, it becomes very apparent
- 47:18that all of these people had at least a clue
- 47:20what was going on, and frankly, they didn't care. All right, folks,
- 47:27that's gonna do it for this morning's update. As usual
- 47:31on the way some context episodes. Then I will be
- 47:34back later on tonight. If you'd like to contact me,
