- 1:05Speaker 3: but it is going to be very, very necessary. We're
- 1:10Speaker 3: in the second chapter of the Book of Jeremiah and
- 1:14Speaker 3: God begins to speak to his people about how they've
- 1:18Speaker 3: walked away from him. This chapter is emotional because God
- 1:22Speaker 3: compares Israel to a faithful bride who once loved him deeply,
- 1:28Speaker 3: but later drifted away. And honestly, this message still speaks today.
- 1:34Speaker 3: It speaks to our hearts. A lot of people start
- 1:38Speaker 3: out passionate in their walk with God, their develop a
- 1:44Speaker 3: prayer life. You can't get them away from their Bibles.
- 1:49Speaker 3: They're studying and reading and quoting scripture, worshiping, going to church,
- 1:55Speaker 3: serving in the local church, loving Jesus Christ boldly, But
- 2:00Speaker 3: somewhere along the way distractions, culture, pain, compromise, and send
- 2:08Speaker 3: pull them away from intimacy with God. So today's episode

- 4:12Speaker 3: We encourage each other. We fellowship. We hold each other accountable,
- 4:17Speaker 3: and we keep each other on that narrow path. Right.
- 4:21Speaker 3: We don't want to stray away. And we're gonna look
- 4:24Speaker 3: at this on how easy it is to do so
- 4:27Speaker 3: as we read this chapter together. But let's go before
- 4:33Speaker 3: our father and prayer a leet. Father, we surrender to you, Lord.
- 4:37Speaker 3: We ask that you will saturate us in your presence. Lord.
- 4:41Speaker 3: We ask forgiveness if we have offended you, if we
- 4:44Speaker 3: wronged you in any way. We cast off all cares,
- 4:48Speaker 3: all concerns, all anxieties. We cast it to the wayside.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Father God, we come to you Lord, and we ask you,
- 4:59Speaker 3: oh God, for grace. We asked for strength, and we
- 5:05Speaker 3: asked o God, for your tender mercies of God to
- 5:08Speaker 3: make it through today, whatever we may be dealing with today. Lord,
- 5:12Speaker 3: we just asked Lord for your grace and your presence
- 5:15Speaker 3: to help us make it through. Father, we thank you
- 5:19Speaker 3: in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, let's jump into this
- 5:27Speaker 3: book of Jeremiah. We're in chapter two and we're gonna go.
- 5:32Speaker 3: We're gonna tackle the first eight verses. Amen. We're not
- 5:36Speaker 3: gonna rush through this. We're gonna allow the word of
- 5:38Speaker 3: God to saturate our hearts. My little background, of course,
- 5:46Speaker 3: we know Jeremiah was called at a young age. God
- 5:50Speaker 3: told him that he knew him before he was even
- 5:53Speaker 3: in the womb, that he was called to be a
- 5:56Speaker 3: prophet to the nation. This is one of the darkest
- 5:59Speaker 3: times in the history of Israel. They had kings that
- 6:06Speaker 3: were wicked and people just walked away and fell away
- 6:10Speaker 3: from their God. And it's similar to what we're going
- 6:14Speaker 3: through in our country. Jeremiah was called to preach a
- 6:21Speaker 3: message to this nation, to the king and the priest
- 6:25Speaker 3: and all the leadership of this nation. And God said,
- 6:29Speaker 3: straight up, they are not gonna listen to you, but
- 6:33Speaker 3: I'm gonna be with you. Jeremiah felt insecure because he
- 6:37Speaker 3: was but a youth. He was young, but this should
- 6:40Speaker 3: let us know that even at a young age, God
- 6:43Speaker 3: can still use you. Don't allow your age to stumble you.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Even if you're older, God can still use you. Amen.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And so this should be a very encouraging book for
- 6:56Speaker 3: us as we start after two. As I said a
- 7:02Speaker 3: minute ago, God is gonna reminisce how the relationship used
- 7:07Speaker 3: to be with his chosen people. So let's jump into it.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Verse one moreover, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
- 7:20Speaker 3: go and cry to the hearing of Jerusalem, saying, thus
- 7:25Speaker 3: says a Lord, I remember you the kindness of your youth,
- 7:32Speaker 3: the love of your betrothal, when you went after me
- 7:38Speaker 3: in the wilderness, in a land not sown. Now, let's
- 7:45Speaker 3: break this down re quick. This is powerful because God
- 7:52Speaker 3: begins to remember their love. How many of us remember
- 7:56Speaker 3: our first love, the first time we met our wife
- 8:00Speaker 3: or our husband, the first date, the first phone call,
- 8:05Speaker 3: Remember how the butterflies are in our stomachs. Amen. I'm
- 8:11Speaker 3: a bit of a lover boy myself, so I can
- 8:14Speaker 3: definitely relate to this. God reflects back on their early
- 8:20Speaker 3: relationship usual had with him after coming out of Egypt.
- 8:27Speaker 3: You see, they depended on him in the wilderness, and
- 8:30Speaker 3: they trusted him, and they followed him. God remembered their
- 8:38Speaker 3: devotion to him. This sounds like a relationship, more like
- 8:45Speaker 3: a marriage. The language is like a marriage relationship. And
- 8:50Speaker 3: see how God loves us so much. We are the
- 8:54Speaker 3: bride of Christ. Amen. You see. Christianity is not supposed
- 9:00Speaker 3: to be just religion. It is supposed to be a relationship.
- 9:07Speaker 3: God doesn't only want church attendance. God wants our hearts.
- 9:16Speaker 3: He wants our whole heart. Some people listening today remember
- 9:22Speaker 3: when they first got saved. Let's look back, Let's go back.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I can remember I was fifteen years old, and I
- 9:30Speaker 3: can remember I used to wash busses at ring Ross
- 9:34Speaker 3: Bus station. That was my first job, fifteen years old.
- 9:39Speaker 3: And we used to wash the buses. We used to
- 9:42Speaker 3: go in and detail the buses, and I remember just
- 9:45Speaker 3: thinking about God just on the outside, just with the
- 9:50Speaker 3: brush and with the soap, and just as the bus
- 9:54Speaker 3: was coming through the washwrack, you know, we would touch
- 9:56Speaker 3: it up and everything and just all I can think
- 10:00Speaker 3: about was God. All I wanted was to be married
- 10:04Speaker 3: and to have God in my life. That was like
- 10:07Speaker 3: my dream. Hey man, can you remember, Remember the excitement,
- 10:14Speaker 3: Remember the passion, the hunger we had for God, our
- 10:19Speaker 3: consistent worship. But then over time, life happens, right, distractions come,
- 10:29Speaker 3: compromise entered in, and God is saying, I remember when
- 10:36Speaker 3: you were close to me? Isn't that a good God?
- 10:42Speaker 3: God could have just cast us off right, He could
- 10:44Speaker 3: have just threw us away. He could have just said,
- 10:47Speaker 3: you know what, since you walked away, forget you. I'm
- 10:51Speaker 3: gonna go over somebody else. But no, he wants to
- 10:53Speaker 3: remember our first love. Verse three, Israel was holiness to
- 11:03Speaker 3: the Lord, the first fruits of his increase. All that
- 11:09Speaker 3: devour him will offend. Disaster will come upon them, says
- 11:16Speaker 3: the Lord. Now what this is saying right here is
- 11:22Speaker 3: God has separated Israel for himself. They were called to
- 11:28Speaker 3: be a holy nation that Israel. Israel belonged to God,
- 11:36Speaker 3: uniquely among all the nations. God protected them because they
- 11:41Speaker 3: were His covenant people. And today believers are still called
- 11:47Speaker 3: to be set apart. We're not perfect, but we're supposed
- 11:52Speaker 3: to be different. Culture, says blend In. God says, be holy.
- 11:59Speaker 3: This general ration desperately needs believers unashamed of living different
- 12:07Speaker 3: amen This generation needs believers who are unashamed to point
- 12:14Speaker 3: the way, to point the way, to give direction and guidance.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Verse four and five. Hear the word of the Lord,
- 12:28Speaker 3: old House of Jacob, and all the families of the
- 12:32Speaker 3: House of Israel. Thus, as the Lord, what injustice have
- 12:37Speaker 3: your fathers found in me? That they have gone far
- 12:42Speaker 3: from me, have followed idols and have become idolaters. Now
- 12:53Speaker 3: right here, this is heartbreaking. You can just hear the
- 12:57Speaker 3: heart of God breaking with this question. What did I
- 13:05Speaker 3: do wrong? Amen? That's deep. God has been faithful. God
- 13:14Speaker 3: has been faithful to you. He has been faithful to me. Amen.
- 13:21Speaker 3: God has been merciful, more so than we deserve. God
- 13:29Speaker 3: has been patient with us. Think about every time you backslid,
- 13:35Speaker 3: that I backslid. Think about every time we went back
- 13:37Speaker 3: to our old life, old habits, old attitudes, old thoughts.
- 13:41Speaker 3: We did not allow God to reign in our hearts
- 13:46Speaker 3: the way that we're supposed to. And He's been patient,
- 13:51Speaker 3: and he still loves us. He is still a loving God.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Let's just that, just dropping our spirits. Let's just marinate
- 14:03Speaker 3: on that right now, how good God has been to us. Amen,
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yet people still walk away. That's reality. That's a wake
- 14:15Speaker 3: up call right there, as good as he's been to us.
- 14:18Speaker 3: And I'm guilty of this, Beloved, I'm guilty of it.
- 14:22Speaker 3: More often than I care to admit. I wish I
- 14:25Speaker 3: was more spiritual. I can look real spiritual on social media.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I can look real spiritual on this podcast, doing club
- 14:37Speaker 3: his hop and writing songs for the Lord. But what
- 14:41Speaker 3: about the private time? How much private time am I
- 14:45Speaker 3: spending with my Savior, with the lover of my soul.
- 14:50Speaker 3: How much time am I worshiping him behind doors when
- 14:54Speaker 3: I choose to watch TV instead, or I choose to
- 14:57Speaker 3: be on the internet, or choose to even work on ministry,
- 15:03Speaker 3: doing his hot and neglecting. Let us not neglect our
- 15:10Speaker 3: intimate time God, let us not break his heart. Listen
- 15:14Speaker 3: to his heart. He's like, what did I do wrong?
- 15:17Speaker 3: This should be the best part of our day, spending
- 15:22Speaker 3: time with our first love. Amen. You see. The tragedy
- 15:31Speaker 3: is the idolatry. The tragedy of idolatry is the fact
- 15:38Speaker 3: that people leave the living God for empty things that
- 15:42Speaker 3: cannot satisfy. How many times have we turned to sin
- 15:49Speaker 3: and we were left empty, high and dry. All Satan
- 15:53Speaker 3: wants to do is still kill and destroy, and we
- 15:55Speaker 3: run to him like he's the best since sliced bread,
- 16:01Speaker 3: when we're gonna get ripped off. When God is saying
- 16:05Speaker 3: that he wants to make us whole, that he truly
- 16:08Speaker 3: loves us. Hey man, let's do better, family, Let's treat
- 16:13Speaker 3: God better. I pray our hearts break.
- 16:16Speaker 5: That.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It is more than just going to church. It's more
- 16:19Speaker 3: than being religion religious. It's about loving our heavenly Father.
- 16:25Speaker 3: It's about falling in love with Jesus giving him our hearts. Amen.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Now they might have ran after idols back then, but
- 16:39Speaker 3: modern idolatry still exists today. It's not just a statue.
- 16:44Speaker 3: People worship money, people worship fame, They worship relationships, they
- 16:52Speaker 3: worship us status, social media validation, people worship celebrities, and
- 16:59Speaker 3: they worship self. Look at all these things that people
- 17:04Speaker 3: put in front of our relationship with God. Anything that
- 17:09Speaker 3: takes God's place becomes an idle. We have to be
- 17:13Speaker 3: careful of that. I have to be careful. Even I'll
- 17:18Speaker 3: admit that even his hot Nation became an idol. When
- 17:22Speaker 3: I had the club and I was busy, just club, club,
- 17:26Speaker 3: club and busy, you know whatever. And I barely had
- 17:32Speaker 3: time to spend with God. And so God had to
- 17:36Speaker 3: sit me down for a while. And I'm glad he did.
- 17:38Speaker 3: A man out of his love. He had to strip
- 17:41Speaker 3: things from me, people, and a lot of things had
- 17:45Speaker 3: to be stripped so that I can start seeking him
- 17:51Speaker 3: again one on one. Amen. And I'm glad he did
- 17:54Speaker 3: it now. But here's the danger. We slowly become what
- 18:01Speaker 3: we worship. That is idolatry. We slowly become the very
- 18:10Speaker 3: thing we worship. Let that fall in our spirits, Beloved,
- 18:17Speaker 3: how many of us walk like talk, like dress like
- 18:21Speaker 3: our favorite celebrity, other person we used to look up to.
- 18:26Speaker 3: We wanted to be like that person. God put that
- 18:31Speaker 3: in there so that real men want to be like
- 18:34Speaker 3: Jesus Amen, verse six. Neither did they say, where is
- 18:43Speaker 3: the Lord who brought us out of the land of Egypt,
- 18:48Speaker 3: who led us through the wilderness, through the land of
- 18:53Speaker 3: deserts and pits, through the land of drought and the
- 18:58Speaker 3: shadow of death, the land that no one crossed and
- 19:04Speaker 3: where no one dwelt. The people forgot what God had
- 19:11Speaker 3: brought them through. That is dangerous, Loved. They forgot about
- 19:17Speaker 3: the miracles, They forgot about the deliverance. They forgot about
- 19:23Speaker 3: the protection. How quickly people can forget God's blessing once
- 19:30Speaker 3: they become comfortable. Right, once we get into a comfortable place,
- 19:36Speaker 3: we get that house we always wanted, that job, that position,
- 19:39Speaker 3: we always want it. And then we spend our time
- 19:43Speaker 3: consumed in that and forget the very God who blessed
- 19:48Speaker 3: us with it. And honestly, people still do this. It's
- 19:55Speaker 3: not just ancient Israel. People do this even now. We
- 19:58Speaker 3: cry out during hard times, then forget God when things improve.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I've been guilty of this. But remember the same God
- 20:12Speaker 3: who brought you through before. It's still faithful today. If
- 20:21Speaker 3: he delivered you from addiction before, he can sustain your freedom. Now,
- 20:31Speaker 3: if he healed your heart before, he can restore your
- 20:35Speaker 3: heart once again, a man, he is the same God.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Verse seven. I brought you into a bountiful country to
- 20:51Speaker 3: eat its fruit and its goodness. But when you entered,
- 20:57Speaker 3: you defiled my land and made my heritage an abomination. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, man,
- 21:08Speaker 3: you see, God bless them, but they corrupted the blessing. Wow.
- 21:14Speaker 3: That's my heart's breaking. Even now, this happens even today,
- 21:20Speaker 3: beloved it. Sometimes people pray for opportunities. We pray for success,
- 21:27Speaker 3: we pray for our relationships, our platforms, even for influence,
- 21:34Speaker 3: But once they receive it, they forget about God. We
- 21:41Speaker 3: see this way too often. Blessing should draw us closer
- 21:49Speaker 3: to God, not further away. Don't let success disconnect you
- 21:57Speaker 3: from the one who blessed you. Let me say that again.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Don't let your success disconnect you from the very one
- 22:09Speaker 3: who blessed you. Verse eight. The priests did not say
- 22:17Speaker 3: where is the Lord? And those who handled the law
- 22:21Speaker 3: did not know me. The rulers also transgressed against me.
- 22:28Speaker 3: The prophets prophesied by bail, which is wicked, and walked
- 22:36Speaker 3: after things that do not profit. This is serious because
- 22:46Speaker 3: the spiritual leaders themselves became corrupted. Wow, what do you
- 22:55Speaker 3: do when the spiritual leaders become correct?
- 23:00Speaker 4: Dude?
- 23:00Speaker 3: What do you do when the pastors and the prophets
- 23:07Speaker 3: and the ministers become corrupted? Does that sound like the
- 23:14Speaker 3: times we're living in now? When the priests stop seeking God?
- 23:19Speaker 3: What do you do when your pastor stops seeking God?
- 23:24Speaker 3: When the leaders rebelled against the Lord and beloved. When
- 23:29Speaker 3: you shut the door on God, you open the door
- 23:32Speaker 3: to Satan. By default? Do not go to a church.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I wouldn't want to belong to a church where Satan
- 23:42Speaker 3: is the pastor you know what I mean. Think about it.
- 23:47Speaker 3: The prophets spoke false messages. When spiritual leaders become compromised,
- 23:56Speaker 3: the nation suffers spiritually belove it. I believe the church
- 24:03Speaker 3: is in the condition it is in today because of
- 24:07Speaker 3: I mean not the church. The country. Country is in
- 24:12Speaker 3: the condition it's in today because of the church. The
- 24:17Speaker 3: church is responsible to keep the health of a nation,
- 24:22Speaker 3: to keep a healthy community, to keep a healthy family unit.
- 24:29Speaker 3: The church has a lot. People want to discount the church.
- 24:35Speaker 3: People want to make the church as if it's irrelevant.
- 24:40Speaker 3: People don't realize how powerful the local church truly is.
- 24:45Speaker 3: But once the church goes dark, the nation will follow.
- 24:54Speaker 3: So discernment is critical today. We need to pray daily
- 25:00Speaker 3: every day for a spirit of discernment. Not every voice
- 25:06Speaker 3: that is speaking spiritual truth is from God. Let me
- 25:14Speaker 3: say that again. Not every voice that maybe speaking spiritual
- 25:18Speaker 3: truth is from God. Satan will use a little bit
- 25:23Speaker 3: of the truth. Well he actually he'll use ninety five
- 25:27Speaker 3: percent truth and five percent lie. Right. If we cooked
- 25:34Speaker 3: you a meal and it's a good, healthy meal, right,
- 25:38Speaker 3: a good, healthy dinner, but we only put a little
- 25:41Speaker 3: bit of poison in it. How much poison do you
- 25:44Speaker 3: need to contaminate that food? How much poison do you
- 25:50Speaker 3: need to kill you? That's why I believers must stay
- 25:57Speaker 3: in scripture themselves. Depend on your pastor don't depend on
- 26:02Speaker 3: anyone else. Don't depend on this podcast. Even though we
- 26:07Speaker 3: go verse by verse to the Bible, you're not to
- 26:11Speaker 3: depend on it. This is just a help and aid
- 26:14Speaker 3: to point you to the truth, point you to God,
- 26:20Speaker 3: and so that you can go through the scriptures yourself.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I want you to go ahead and read the Book
- 26:27Speaker 3: of Jeremiah. You know where we're gonna be right on
- 26:31Speaker 3: the next episode. To read ahead, and so read it
- 26:34Speaker 3: with us as we go through it, so that we
- 26:37Speaker 3: can get more out of it. Amen. I don't want
- 26:41Speaker 3: to be put on a pedestal. I don't want people
- 26:43Speaker 3: to look to me or worship me. I mean, yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 3: we're supposed to be examples, but all the glory goes
- 26:50Speaker 3: to God. If I don't point you to Jesus, then
- 26:54Speaker 3: I failed you. If I only point you to myself,
- 26:59Speaker 3: then I'm doing both of us at disservice. Amen. I
- 27:04Speaker 3: don't want that smoke from God. So we need to
- 27:08Speaker 3: pray for discernment. We need to stay in our scriptures.
- 27:14Speaker 3: We need to know the word, study the word, and
- 27:19Speaker 3: test everything against the Word of God. Whatever your pastor
- 27:24Speaker 3: tells you or is teaching you, whatever word that you
- 27:27Speaker 3: may be getting tested tested with the Word, tested by
- 27:32Speaker 3: the Holy Spirit. Ask God to reveal the truth that
- 27:37Speaker 3: you may not be able to see in front of you. Amen.
- 27:45Speaker 3: This is critical because the Bible says in the last days,
- 27:50Speaker 3: the days you're living in right now, there is a
- 27:52Speaker 3: great falling away. A lot of people are falling to
- 27:56Speaker 3: the wayside, and this is a matter of life and death.
- 28:02Speaker 3: This is the determined whether you go to heaven or
- 28:05Speaker 3: we go to hell. This is not something that we

- 33:02Speaker 3: let me real accountability means having people around you who
- 33:11Speaker 3: help you stay spiritually connected to God. Sometimes we drift slowly,
- 33:19Speaker 3: not overnight. Right, it's a slow drift. We stop praying consistently,
- 33:25Speaker 3: we stop reading the Word, we stop surrendering ourselves with
- 33:31Speaker 3: Godly influence. That's why accountability matters. Ask yourself, who helps
- 33:41Speaker 3: keep your fire in God alive? Amen? We need to
- 33:46Speaker 3: surround ourselves with Godly influence. We need to allow people
- 33:53Speaker 3: that are godly themselves to keep us lit and keep
- 33:57Speaker 3: us on fire. Amen, islalujah. We also want to let

- 38:29Speaker 3: half years, five thousand square foot warehouse, we turned into
- 38:33Speaker 3: a venue, red carpet the whole nine. We did it

- 39:34Speaker 3: All right, Well with that, Yeah, we're gonna close out
- 39:38Speaker 3: today's segment. My time is up. But I got some
- 39:42Speaker 3: closing encouragement though. And man, we're just now getting into
- 39:45Speaker 3: the book. This is a heartbreaking beginning. This is gonna
- 39:51Speaker 3: be a long haul. This Book of Jeremiah is a
- 39:54Speaker 3: long book, almost as big, long as the Book of
- 39:58Speaker 3: Acts we just went through, maybe even longer. But Jeremiah
- 40:03Speaker 3: chapter two is really about one thing, returning to God.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Maybe someone listening today realizes I've drifted. I'm not as
- 40:14Speaker 3: close to God as I used to be. Now the
- 40:19Speaker 3: good news is this God still calls people back. Isn't
- 40:23Speaker 3: that good? Amen? His grace is still available, His mercy
- 40:29Speaker 3: is still available, His love is still reaching out for you.
- 40:36Speaker 3: It's not a coincidence that you're listening to this podcast,
- 40:40Speaker 3: this particular episode, at this particular time in your life.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Don't let idols replace intimacy with God. Amen. That is
- 40:52Speaker 3: a T shirt that right there is a a sign
- 40:57Speaker 3: we need to put on the wall. Return to your
- 41:01Speaker 3: first love. Amen. Allelujah. Now let's pray Heavenly Father, thank
- 41:10Speaker 3: you for loving us even when we drift away on God,
- 41:14Speaker 3: help us recognize anything that has taken your place in
- 41:19Speaker 3: our hearts. Restore our passion for you. Teach us to
- 41:25Speaker 3: seek you daily and walk closely with you. Once again,
- 41:31Speaker 3: give this generation discernment, boldness, holiness, and hunger for your presence. Lord.
- 41:40Speaker 3: We asked this in Jesus' name. Amen, and remember it's
- 41:45Speaker 3: not about us, It's all about the Christ in us.
- 41:48Speaker 5: God bless you.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Are listening to the Light of Las Vegas. This is
- 42:05Speaker 2: the His Hop radio show.
