- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And on today's episode of The
- 0:42Hypnotist, I'm actually joined by a guest hypnotist.
- 0:46And if you're from the world of hypnotherapy, you probably know
- 0:49this name because AI would say a legend, a certain name from the
- 0:55industry. I'm joined by the very special
- 0:57guest, Bob Burns. Welcome, Bob.
- 1:00Hi, Adam, How are you? Very good indeed, very good.
- 1:03So obviously, you know I've known about you for a very long
- 1:06time. For those people listening to
- 1:09aren't familiar with you, what's the best way of them getting to
- 1:12know you and your your way into the world of hypnosis?
- 1:17OK, so I have a website, bobburdenshypnotherapy.com.
- 1:22So does that a lot of people contact me online.
- 1:29That's probably the best way to find out.
- 1:31Bob burdenshypnotherapy.com. They can read all about you on
- 1:34there. It's a wonderful write up.
- 1:35I wrote it myself. I took my time, made sure it was
- 1:38special and basically that's it in a in a scuffled nutshell.
- 1:43That's how you'll find out a little bit about me.
- 1:45Absolutely. So how did you get into the
- 1:47world of hypnosis? What, what was the kind of the
- 1:49catalyst for you joining this this niche strange industry that
- 1:53we we call hypnosis? It's quite funny you asked that
- 1:57question because I met you for the first time just recently in
- 2:00London. But I think I told the story of
- 2:02how I used to be with this one called Cockney Haggis.
- 2:05And it was really back then in 1973, where we were taking our
- 2:10gear into play in this, this place the Queen should tell in
- 2:12Aberdeen. And the drummer turned around to
- 2:15this, this lady who was standing at the door.
- 2:18And he says for some reason he doesn't know.
- 2:20To this day, he's no idea why he said it, but he said.
- 2:23Don't look into his eyes, he's an epmetist.
- 2:25And she, she looked at him and she looked at me when I said
- 2:28sleep. And I caught her head just
- 2:30before it hit the ground. My bond got terrified because I
- 2:33didn't know I was a hypnotist. I was really terrified because I
- 2:36didn't know I was a hypnotist. And the question I asked back in
- 2:39the UK convention where we met was who hypnotized the lady?
- 2:43Her name was Liz. Did I hypnotize Liz?
- 2:46Or was it the drummer who hypnotized Liz by giving her
- 2:49that suggestion? Or was it Liz who hypnotized
- 2:52Liz? And for anyone watching this,
- 2:53you might find it interesting to know that when I asked the the
- 2:56the audience, who do you think hypnotized Liz?
- 2:58Very intelligent audience. Well, they, nearly everyone went
- 3:01up to say that Liz hypnotized Liz from Gary Turner, who who
- 3:06likes an argument. Listen, good old Gary.
- 3:08But he said it was a good argument.
- 3:10Yeah, Gary. Gary is a great, great guy.
- 3:11He knows his stuff. So that was it.
- 3:13So that was that's geez, that's 51 years ago.
- 3:17And since then I came through a lot.
- 3:20I traveled about doing. I got involved in hypnosis the
- 3:23same time. As doing a sick most do my first
- 3:25psychology degree trying to be an assistant psychologist and
- 3:29I'm doing hypno analysis back in the day and I thought hypno
- 3:33analysis was wonderful you know regress regress somebody
- 3:37because. Got to fix them.
- 3:39Doesn't it makes sense at the time thought the arguments
- 3:41wonderful. I still I still have a good
- 3:43argument on that today. And at the same time I was going
- 3:46out at night time hypnotizing, doing hypnosis shows here and in
- 3:51the continent. So I learned a lot by
- 3:53hypnotizing lots of people and I did sweet hypnosis and so on and
- 3:57so forth. So, but mainly I am a
- 3:59hypnotherapist who works in a small room with a person.
- 4:03I am a therapist. And although I do lots of work,
- 4:06I'm not, I'm not a trainer per SE.
- 4:08I don't have a hypnosis economy. I just do workshops.
- 4:12I like the workshops, but, and I think you'll probably already
- 4:15know this, I didn't. To train with me in the past,
- 4:17you had to come to my home, you had to stay a couple of nights
- 4:20and you would go with me into my my live sessions.
- 4:25You'd see me working with strangers.
- 4:26I think that's the best way to do it, to learn this stuff.
- 4:28You go and see the guy who's training, you're working with a
- 4:30totally incomplete stranger. And it's scary.
- 4:34Scary as hell. Because the person who's telling
- 4:36you they're good, well, let's find out, press play, Let's see
- 4:39how you got on with this total stranger.
- 4:41And they get to see me hypnotizing somebody and I look.
- 4:43Fantastic. And they get to see me failing
- 4:45miserably and I look like shit. And that's the way it should be,
- 4:49because. They get to know that it doesn't
- 4:51work all the time. So again, very, very briefly,
- 4:54that's me. That's my history, that's what
- 4:56I've been doing. And right now I'm back in
- 4:58England. It's going to be my last move, I
- 5:00suppose. We're back living with family
- 5:01down in Southampton and on. Kind of.
- 5:04I think it'd be fair to say I'm moving at a semi retirement.
- 5:07I'm not seeing as many many clients now and it's nearly all
- 5:10online, which much to my surprise worked exactly the
- 5:14same. I used to argue against that,
- 5:16but I've just discovered it worked exactly the same as being
- 5:19with somebody. Absolutely I.
- 5:22Just don't get. I just don't get to pick the.
- 5:23Pockets, which is a nightmare. Absolutely.
- 5:27So one of the things that I found fascinating is the way in
- 5:31which you kind of work with people is very different from,
- 5:35let's say, how a lot of people do training.
- 5:37And that is they do kind of structured courses and they do
- 5:40the academies and they're talking about kind of
- 5:41techniques. Your approach is much more like
- 5:44the kind of the master and The Apprentice.
- 5:45It's kind of see them in action, see them doing stuff, and you're
- 5:49going to learn a lot more from actually kind of seeing them
- 5:51where the rubber meets the road and actually kind of in the
- 5:54point of interacting with someone, then perhaps talking
- 5:56about theoretical kind of concepts.
- 6:00Was that a deliberate kind of choice of teaching in that way,
- 6:03or you just found it was an easier way to do it because you
- 6:06felt very comfortable working with clients one-on-one?
- 6:08Yeah, great question. So I used to be a salesperson.
- 6:11I used to sell, I used to work in the world of finance and I
- 6:15became quite good. I became a, became the number
- 6:18one in the UK for this company and then end up becoming the the
- 6:21boss of the company, end up becoming the international sales
- 6:24manager. And I did all of that.
- 6:26First of all, when I was in training, I went to all the
- 6:28training that everybody else went to and I discovered that I
- 6:31wasn't. Great at sales.
- 6:32All my friends thought it would be great.
- 6:34But Bob, you'll be signed to the Arabs and snow to the Eskimos.
- 6:38Sorry, the Inuits. Whatever, it never worked.
- 6:41Like that, what we discovered was I was an OK guy.
- 6:43I could make people laugh in a pub.
- 6:45That was who I was. I wasn't a salesman because when
- 6:48it came to the pub and I asked him for the money.
- 6:50I just couldn't do that or they said no.
- 6:52So I had to learn how to do that.
- 6:54So instead, apart from all the training I got in the class, I
- 6:57went to a guy called John Copeland, who was a top salesman
- 7:00in the world of a company called Combined International.
- 7:03And I said and. I don't know why I can't do
- 7:05this. I don't know why but.
- 7:07I heard you've come back to the company.
- 7:09I want to ask, can I come and claim with you for a week?
- 7:11I don't want any commissions. I just want to watch it and he.
- 7:14Stared at me for ages. And he says, I'll give you a
- 7:18morning next Monday, be in Union Street in Aberdeen beside the
- 7:22Queen, the statue, 10:00 I'll pick you up there.
- 7:26Yeah, 1 morning. That should be you.
- 7:29And he was. And he turned around and started
- 7:31talking to the. Guy again, he's very bad
- 7:32mannered. So I went out with John and I
- 7:34watched him work for the morning and.
- 7:36I thought, Oh my God, this. Is how the guys do it.
- 7:40And it was completely different from how I'd been trained.
- 7:42So I got to watch this guy and then so and John and I became
- 7:45wonderful friends. Three months later I became the
- 7:48man of the quarter and John came in second.
- 7:50How lovely is that? And the main reason why I was
- 7:53the man of the quarter and John came in second is because I just
- 7:55copied everything that John told me to do.
- 7:57But started earlier than him each day and worked later.
- 8:01So it's science. It's it's bloody science.
- 8:04I do what he does, but I do more of it and I come in first and he
- 8:07come in second. He says it's great.
- 8:09As he says, if I win, I win. But if you win, Bob, everybody
- 8:12knows I trained you. So I look fantastic and we
- 8:14became wonderful friends for many, many years.
- 8:16So because that's a good analogies it not when I come
- 8:19into hypnotherapy and I see all these guys going with a few 1000
- 8:22lbs to sit in a room for a couple of weeks to train with
- 8:25people and nicely breath, sleep deeper, deeper.
- 8:28And that's how it works really. You tell them not to do it again
- 8:31and don't do it again. That's not how I it's not how it
- 8:34worked for me. So I said, well, be good if they
- 8:36came to see how what I want to do.
- 8:38Now the interesting thing there are doing is it becomes really
- 8:41interesting now because it almost looks like that does it.
- 8:43We'll go and see this guy. You go to his house, you stay
- 8:46for a couple of nights, he cooks for you, he drinks wine with you
- 8:48in the evening, and you go and watch him do his magic.
- 8:51This this stuff that he does. But everyone got a shock to
- 8:54discover that I am completely structured.
- 8:57I am completely and absolutely I'm riddled with organized sales
- 9:01stocks. Yeah, I'm completely scripted
- 9:04and they got to get the shock of.
- 9:05Their life. What I used to do, in fact, I
- 9:07would do the thing. Let's say the first 3 clients of
- 9:09a deer and they see. That, oh, the second.
- 9:12One, he did it almost like he did for the.
- 9:13First one and. The third one, Oh my, it's kind
- 9:16of, it's kind of what he does. And the fourth one, when I tell
- 9:18him to take a nice deep breath, close your eyes.
- 9:21If you were sitting with me being trained on him, you'd see
- 9:23me go into a drawer. You take out a sheet, a sheet of
- 9:25paper, I'd say. And as you allow your eyes to
- 9:28close, you allow yourself just to drift deeper and deeper, all
- 9:31the way down, always considering you go, Oh my God, he's reading
- 9:34it, but he's reading what he's already done three times, so he
- 9:38doesn't need to read it. So instead of me telling them, I
- 9:41showed them. Does that make sense?
- 9:43It does. Yeah, it does.
- 9:45So don't tell them, show them, show them what you do and but
- 9:49then I I was interested they would become script by the way,
- 9:51nicely, I'm scripted. I don't walk a bug speaking like
- 9:53this. I'm talking about on the initial
- 9:55session only, on the initial session only for me, best to be
- 9:59scripted. Anything else, yeah, then you
- 10:01can fly with the seat, your pants and what have you.
- 10:04And just another interesting thing for people watching this,
- 10:07there'll be many of them saying, I know I don't follow the steps.
- 10:09I go with the floor. I do my thing and they don't.
- 10:13I've been with them. They're.
- 10:14Fantastic. They're completely scripted.
- 10:16But guess what, Adam? They don't even know they're
- 10:17scripted. Fascinating dwarfs.
- 10:20They do all these things, then they say this, then they say
- 10:22that. And they're brilliant.
- 10:24They just don't realize that they're scripted.
- 10:26And, and, and that's the thing, it's the unconscious competence,
- 10:28isn't it? Once you get good at something,
- 10:30you, you, you kind of do it without thinking about it.
- 10:33And, and I've noticed that with my, you know, because I, I
- 10:36publish a lot of my sessions that I do.
- 10:38And to begin with, you know, very, very varied, trying lots
- 10:42of different kind of things. But you find out that there is a
- 10:44way of doing an induction that works for an individual.
- 10:48There's a way of, you know, taking them through a, through a
- 10:51process. So there is a lot of, I would
- 10:54say unconscious scripts in my stuff.
- 10:57But equally, I'm a big believer that the people where they're
- 11:01beholden to a script becomes like a comfort blanket.
- 11:05Their attention is on the script, not on the person in
- 11:07front of them. And that can be a problem
- 11:08because you can't calibrate and kind of work with the individual
- 11:11that we're working with. But that, that kind of initial
- 11:14session, it seems like that gives you such a strong
- 11:15foundation because you're getting so much from that.
- 11:18And because it's been done so many times, you're able to kind
- 11:22of notice what comes back in reaction because your variable
- 11:26is constant, their variable is different.
- 11:28So you you're going to be able to calibrate so much from you
- 11:31doing the same thing but then reacting to what you do
- 11:33differently. Yeah.
- 11:35And a great example of that is one guy that came to see me.
- 11:37He's passed away now, bless him. Yeah, I'm talking about you.
- 11:41We'll be fine. So he came, he came to stay with
- 11:43me. And one night he just one of the
- 11:45most gentlest, loveliest men I've ever known.
- 11:48And we just finished the dinner in my home and he says he comes
- 11:53from. He comes from.
- 11:53I think there's maybe a Yorkshire lad or something.
- 11:55He's listening. Can I just?
- 11:56Show you something, Bob. I like your opinion.
- 11:58And Summit, I said yeah, sure. He went into his briefcase.
- 12:01He pulled out this wad of papers.
- 12:03He says this is a thing that I'm doing.
- 12:04I want you to tell me. What you could I, would you
- 12:06allow me to do? I said.
- 12:07Yes, please show it to me. And he went all right.
- 12:10So he started to do the back. And you've got allow yourself to
- 12:12drift. And when you do that, you feel
- 12:14yourself just just like, it's just like you're going down.
- 12:17And I said, and I'm looking at the papers, I'm thinking like
- 12:20this thick, I'm going to be with him for the No 1 1/2 year.
- 12:23And this is horrendous. So I said, can I just do
- 12:26something for a second to show you?
- 12:28You tell me if it's any volumes. Sure.
- 12:30So I took the papers from him and I said, you do like you
- 12:32drift, you dream, you float, you allow yourself to just and I
- 12:38said some, how's that sound? And he says, well, that's oh,
- 12:41that's right. That sounds lovely.
- 12:42What is it you're doing? But I'm not doing.
- 12:44That's what I'm hesitating. And I'm modulating.
- 12:47And I'm emphasizing, yeah, my God, my voice is going up and
- 12:50then it's going down. And it seems like it's kind of
- 12:52interesting, but it's almost like I'm cheating.
- 12:54Is it? And he said, oh, that's lovely.
- 12:56So this guy had a script, was probably a great script, but he
- 12:59had no idea. How to how to use a script?
- 13:02And the 1 golden thing about a script is.
- 13:04Never read it? Well, don't.
- 13:07Don't read the script and. I have to tell you in the early
- 13:09days measured the hypno analysis.
- 13:11Obviously the idea, the idea was to get to close their eyes so I
- 13:14can get my papers with a script. Now they're smiling.
- 13:17I've got a Strickler sweat coming down.
- 13:18I'm just a bag of nerves. I don't know what I'm doing.
- 13:21One thing I shouldn't have been doing, I shouldn't have been
- 13:22doing therapy. I should have been in jail.
- 13:24So as soon as they close their eyes, I very gently pull up my
- 13:27paper. I've only got 1 worry now, or
- 13:29one worry. When I get to the bottom of this
- 13:31page, I don't have to take it from the top and put it to the
- 13:34bottom and I know it's going to make this noise.
- 13:37That's the noise of papers running against papers in my
- 13:40head. When I go, they're thinking,
- 13:42wait a minute, he's using a script.
- 13:44He's just reading us. He doesn't know what he's
- 13:46talking about. That's how.
- 13:48That's how bad I was. And it's not enough that.
- 13:51It would make that noise, so I used to cough a lot when I
- 13:53changed the sheets so that everybody thought I had the flu
- 13:56or something. And allow yourself to drift.
- 13:57A dream on. What it was just it was just a
- 14:01nightmare. I was just useless, but I didn't
- 14:03quit. So by being useless and not
- 14:05quitting, I could just get better.
- 14:08But finally I said. I've got to stop reading this
- 14:10shit. I've got to learn it, yeah.
- 14:12I think it was interesting because I feel like there is an
- 14:14analogy between learning to drive and and learning hypnosis
- 14:18in the sense that, you know, when you get your license, for
- 14:21me, that's where you learn, That's where the learning to
- 14:23drive begins. At that point, you've got
- 14:25enough, but you don't really have any like real Rd.
- 14:28experience, Rd. awareness, any of that kind of stuff.
- 14:31But you've got your license, you can now actually kind of be on
- 14:33the roads and then that's where you really kind of learn how to
- 14:36drive properly. And I think there's a lot of
- 14:38people that become course junkies and they go from 1
- 14:40conference to the next conference and they kind of,
- 14:43they're constantly learning, getting new certificates and
- 14:45qualifications, but they're not working with enough clients to
- 14:48actually kind of become good at those particular things.
- 14:51And I always think that you can't learn to swim by reading a
- 14:54book. You've got to jump in the pool.
- 14:55And hypnosis is a bit like that. You've got to do it to really,
- 14:59to really learn it, if that makes sense.
- 15:04What's your, what's your kind of optimal way of learning, Bob?
- 15:07You know, because obviously we're always learning.
- 15:10Do you feel like you learn from observing other people or from
- 15:14like difficult clients that become a challenge?
- 15:17What's another thing you said? Do I learn from observing other
- 15:19people? That's one way to word it.
- 15:20Here's another way to word it. Copying, which is exactly the
- 15:23same thing, of course. But in my little world where I
- 15:26came from, yeah, I'll just, I'll just copy them.
- 15:29They don't. Then I'll find out they've got
- 15:30other stuff. They've got things they call.
- 15:35Rebuttals. Let me write that down.
- 15:37What's in rebuttal? Should I discover the magic of
- 15:40having a rebuttal now, as you as you probably know, I'm also
- 15:43trained as a magician. I worked as a professional
- 15:45magician for many years and the difference between a good
- 15:47magician and one that's a good there's a good one makes exactly
- 15:53simultes mistakes, but he covers them by rebuttaling if you like.
- 15:57He's got what we call outs, so we do something, but we use that
- 16:00out and nobody knows we've got that wrong.
- 16:02It happens all the time in the therapy.
- 16:03Room with me. So, so for example, I've got
- 16:06this thing, yeah, I think I said, I think that's maybe worth
- 16:10mentioning to to your people. I've got this thing that I, I
- 16:14suggest everybody should learn a script.
- 16:16Script for me is like getting on a train in Aberdeen and going to
- 16:18London. I'm going through all the stops
- 16:20and even Manchester York. I get off in time, I get back on
- 16:23the train in time, the rails go there to the nearest inch.
- 16:26They get me, they get me turned in in time.
- 16:29All I've got to do is stay in the train, to stay in the
- 16:31trucks. Nuts it.
- 16:31That for me is a script. Pretty, pretty simple analogy.
- 16:35Now, if you know, and again, I'll make a mistake, I'm
- 16:38completely scripted, but I'll make a mistake and you think
- 16:41what's going to happen then? So that's an interesting 1.
- 16:43And I remember working for this company where the we had to
- 16:46learn the script in this particular thing or you didn't
- 16:49get home after two weeks. So it's a Friday afternoon.
- 16:52You pitched to the to the manager and you've done it or
- 16:58you? Have to say an extra week so
- 16:59it's. Terrifying and on.
- 17:01Then it's it's it's 3:00 on a Friday and I'm making a mess.
- 17:04Of it and I'm sweating and the guy said what is this?
- 17:06Why not? If we don't get this right, we
- 17:07don't get to go home. And the guy said, we lie to you,
- 17:10We tell you that you're young guys, you're all in your 20s,
- 17:12you'll be shagging every night. So we lie to you.
- 17:14We tell you if you can't do it, you don't get home.
- 17:16You're going home. You're on the train with me at
- 17:185:30. Don't worry about that.
- 17:20So no, I'm angry and no, I'm so angry.
- 17:22I just can't get the script right.
- 17:24I'm getting everything wrong. And he looked at me and he must
- 17:27have been thinking nothing is going to save this one.
- 17:29And then he said this to me. I did.
- 17:30And I've never forgot it. It's beautiful.
- 17:33He says, let me tell you a story.
- 17:34The story Domo was this. He said Once Upon a time there
- 17:37were three bears. I was a Duddy bear.
- 17:40I was a mummy bear. It's a better baby bear.
- 17:42He even made me made his voice go funny.
- 17:44I was furious. I wanted to smack the guy, which
- 17:46just he's no taking the best. He told me the story of how they
- 17:49lived in the edge of a forest and they all went into tone and
- 17:52world about going along. Girl comes along called
- 17:55Goldilocks. She walks in Duddy bears chairs
- 17:58too hard. Mummy bears chairs too soft.
- 18:00Baby bears chair is just right. He's doing the voicing again.
- 18:02Again. I'm getting hungry.
- 18:04And then he said this, they went, she went into the kitchen
- 18:10and they were 3 balls of cornflakes.
- 18:12And I said porridge. And he said, I beg your pardon?
- 18:15I said it was, it was, it was 3 balls of porridge.
- 18:18And he said, how do you know that?
- 18:19And I said, well, I've, I've heard the story before.
- 18:21And he said, excuse my language. That's right, you deaf bastard,
- 18:25you've heard the story before. But none of them, none of them
- 18:28have heard the story before. They'll only think you've got it
- 18:31wrong if you say I've got that wrong.
- 18:33Now do you think you could handle that?
- 18:34And I wanted to kiss him. Absolutely wanted to kiss him so
- 18:39I'm. Stripped in and I make mistakes.
- 18:41I never tell anybody. I just moved through them, so
- 18:46the skills and the skills within the skills that can get us
- 18:48there. There's a bottles and there's
- 18:50oats. There's a whole.
- 18:51Baggage of stuff, right back to what you said.
- 18:54You pushed a driving test, you tear up the plates.
- 18:56Now you can learn how to drive. Yeah, all the stuff you pick up
- 19:00then afterwards. Yeah, it it, it is.
- 19:03And I think also like what you've called copying there, you
- 19:06know, fairly self, you know, depreciatingly, you know, other
- 19:10people would call modelling from the NLP world, they would say
- 19:13like figure out the structure of what people do well, you know,
- 19:17and then copy that. And then once you've copied
- 19:20that, you've got a really good, you know, base level, then you
- 19:23can refine. And I think so many people are
- 19:26trying to kind of create the new things.
- 19:27But actually, if people are good at something, they're good at
- 19:30something for a reason, copy as much of that as you can.
- 19:34And, and, and I think a lot of the, you know, if you look at
- 19:36the, the big painters, how they originally got good at painting
- 19:40is they tried to replicate the masters of their time, replicate
- 19:45first and then find their own style afterwards.
- 19:47But it was by trying to kind of get to that standard by copying
- 19:50other people's techniques that they were able to kind of
- 19:52improve on that. And I think it's, it's such a, a
- 19:55useful way and I think theory sometimes things get lost.
- 19:58But if you copy what someone can do and how they do it, then
- 20:01obviously you can got you've got a really good kind of benchmark
- 20:03there. Tell me more about where the
- 20:05swan came from, because some people I've I've used it in a
- 20:09couple of my podcast, you know, talking about kind of like a
- 20:11different version of talking to the unconscious mind idiomotor
- 20:15responses. Where did the the concept, the
- 20:17idea for the Swan come from and and how have you?
- 20:21Find the best place to kind of use that.
- 20:22What kind of conditions or situations?
- 20:25So I used to swarm with nearly yeah, just about every client
- 20:29that comes through the door will do that.
- 20:31It's harder on online, but not too difficult.
- 20:34It's it's it's doable. The whole this one came about
- 20:36was I used to do Tai chi every morning down at the beach, the
- 20:40Montrose. So Saturday morning was my
- 20:42favorite. I do a longer set on a Saturday
- 20:44morning and I'd come back for 10:00 because then everybody in
- 20:47the UK knows at 10:00 there'll be a cooking program on on TV.
- 20:51We'd all set my watch, James Martin of whoever it was.
- 20:54So I've done my Tai chi down at the beach.
- 20:56I've come back. It's a beautiful morning and I'm
- 20:58sitting watching it and I put my fingers through my hair like
- 21:01that. And I lean back in the chair
- 21:03like watch the telly, and I haunted just glanced and I see
- 21:05my I see my hand like this, and I look at my hand and I sail.
- 21:09Glowed as it happens. You, you, you look like a swan,
- 21:13don't you? And I, and I get, I smiled to
- 21:15myself and my hand goes, yeah. And I go, whoa, whoa.
- 21:20That is an idiom water response. But I don't do idiom water
- 21:22responses. I don't have that skill that
- 21:25these other people have. I says, try and do that again.
- 21:27Boom. And I says, can you can you do
- 21:31anything else? Yes.
- 21:32I said, well, yeah, but you're just waving out, can you turn?
- 21:34I mean, can you look at me? And the whole hand and arm goes
- 21:37boom. Now, at this point, it gets a
- 21:39little bit weird. Yeah.
- 21:40It's 10:00, the sun shining. Maybe if this was midnight.
- 21:44And I was in the room on my own. I might I might get a different.
- 21:47Feeling it might be a little bit scary.
- 21:49Because it's me, but I don't think it's me, but it has to be
- 21:53me. So here we go.
- 21:54I'm a psychologist who's also into magic and I am, by the way,
- 21:59into magic and stuff as well. So I'm balancing these two
- 22:02together and it's not working out.
- 22:03So I showed my wife to come downstairs.
- 22:05She comes down, I said watch this and it works.
- 22:08And I expected not to work because the psyche world is like
- 22:12that. It'll mess with you or do
- 22:14something marvellous. And then when you go to show
- 22:16somebody else, he'll go, Nah, I'm not going to work.
- 22:19So it works, but it won't work with her.
- 22:21But my wife said, why don't you go into the the on Monday
- 22:24morning, try it with clients and see if you can do something
- 22:26without that. And it worked far better than
- 22:29ever. So then I go online and I tell
- 22:32the world how wonderful it is. Let's be honest.
- 22:35I tell the world how wonderful I am, and a guy called Felix Econo
- 22:38Marcus, do you know Felix? He's done there in London.
- 22:41Felix, the psychologist, he called me.
- 22:46Can I say that? I think I can't.
- 22:47He called me a cock. On online and he he's quite an
- 22:51ugly. Greek.
- 22:53So we had words, we had strong words.
- 22:55And he said, well that's true. So why don't you come down to
- 22:56London? I'll get a lot of psychologists
- 22:59and doctors in the room. You can show it all how
- 23:00wonderful you are. As well.
- 23:01Just send it decades. And of course, he sent the
- 23:03ticket and very annoying and I've no, I've no way out.
- 23:07So I jump in a flight, I go down to London, Felix picks me up,
- 23:10push me into a room. And it was one of these things
- 23:13that. It was.
- 23:14It was heavenly. The whole oh, the whole room
- 23:20started moving. They're all using the F word and
- 23:22shouting and screaming I like Jesus and of course, well, this
- 23:25all this is happening. I'm sitting sitting in the
- 23:26middle you'll. Get this I'm.
- 23:27Sitting in the middle thinking I.
- 23:29Don't think this is good to do with me.
- 23:32I think the smiling and nodding and looking at me and thinking
- 23:34how wonderful I am, but I don't know really what I'm doing.
- 23:37I'll become quite interesting. There's another thing that
- 23:40happens here arguments is this. I thought that I fight for a
- 23:43long time. My wife who used to be a uni
- 23:45lecturer in psychology, sociology, what have you, she's
- 23:48made a statement when once she said to me remember that
- 23:51everything in this world is a construct.
- 23:54Neither what stupid thing to say till I thought about it.
- 23:56And I promise you she's right. Or come back and give us some
- 24:00arguments. Every single thing in this world
- 24:03is a construct. It's a construct that's been
- 24:05constructed. So that means that, well,
- 24:08obviously the Swans are construct, but that's my
- 24:10enlightenment. The only thing I know of in this
- 24:12world that isn't a construct is a swan.
- 24:15That sounds ridiculous. But the reason why I say that is
- 24:18I didn't construct it. I was watching dancing.
- 24:21I was watching cooking. I put my fingers through my
- 24:23hair. I landed back and I just said,
- 24:26you look like a swan. Oh, don't you?
- 24:30And this bloody thing went and my whole life gets changed.
- 24:34So I don't need to do things with it, do I?
- 24:36Let's look at what I did. And let's look at the genius of
- 24:38Bob Barons. Yeah, well, he flew me around
- 24:40the world several times. I did 4 things.
- 24:42I discovered I need to do something with that because my,
- 24:45my, my weekend workshop will be over in 5 minutes.
- 24:48I need to find another 15 hours and 55 minutes.
- 24:51Where's that going to come from? So at the start.
- 24:54Of I had a twitch, I had a Turin, I had a wave.
- 24:59And I had a return. That's all I had.
- 25:01Guess what? Today it's still the same.
- 25:02That's the swan. Feminine's watching this.
- 25:04Good luck. That's it.
- 25:05That's all you need. A twitch, a tongue, a wave and a
- 25:08return. So I constructed that movements
- 25:10within it. But the swan itself just arrived
- 25:13on my shoulder and not in yours. What a shit deal for other
- 25:16people that never lived in their shoulders that arrived in mine.
- 25:19So I got a lot of credit for something that I I never
- 25:21consulted. I never thought, oh, there's no
- 25:24beautiful mind working on that. I just got to travel around the
- 25:26world with my English wife, spending money and jewelry and
- 25:30choosing. We mustn't go there.
- 25:33Anyway, that's, that's, that's how this one came about.
- 25:35Now after that, of course, it got advanced to something else.
- 25:38Was it to one day when I was sitting with a client, I thought
- 25:40and I says to the part, so if you can do all of this if you
- 25:43wanted to. I'm not asking you to.
- 25:45Do it again. Here we go.
- 25:47This is scripted words so you don't get messed up.
- 25:49I'm not asking you to. But if you wanted to, do you
- 25:56think you could speak to me? Because if you get that mixed
- 25:58up, lots of challenges happen and it goes, yes.
- 26:01This is OK. Would you like to try that?
- 26:03Yes. And say the client and you'll
- 26:04have it because they're way awake.
- 26:05Remember, look at me going. OK, so if you could try and say,
- 26:08I don't know, try and say hello and see what happens.
- 26:10So next thing. Hello.
- 26:12Or even scarier, hello. Mr. Burns.
- 26:13That is scary because that doesn't seem to be like this
- 26:16woman who's 68 years old, five feet too.
- 26:21Hello. Mr. Burns.
- 26:22So that's why I called it direct voice.
- 26:25That comes from the the days of the mediums who used to talk in
- 26:28what they call direct voice. It's not really, of course, I
- 26:32don't think. But there you go.
- 26:33So now we have this thing called direct voice, and that's when it
- 26:36exploded into something else. That's where the part, let's
- 26:39call it parts therapy. That's where the part, let's
- 26:42call it, that started doing things that they don't normally
- 26:44do in parts therapy. They'd argue with the client and
- 26:49me about other things, and then we started getting other things
- 26:52that we don't have time to go into right now.
- 26:53And it would only confuse people, I think, and make me
- 26:58look stupid. But we do have areas where the
- 27:00part will come. You know, we're talking a
- 27:04language that they don't speak. And that's that's really
- 27:09interesting. But not Harbins.
- 27:11Science will actually accept that.
- 27:12They'll even accept that it might be DNA.
- 27:14Yeah, maybe I maybe speak. Maybe my great, great
- 27:16grandfather spoke Spanish. I don't know that.
- 27:18And certainly I'm saying we're like a dog here and I mess up.
- 27:21But a quadraticular Battana pivor and I and I don't speak
- 27:23Spanish. So that's where it becomes
- 27:25interesting, but extremely interesting, yeah.
- 27:29Yeah, it's fascinating. And I think just just for the
- 27:32purpose of people listening rather than kind of seeing this
- 27:35perhaps on YouTube when when Bob's talking about this one
- 27:40there, he's got his elbow on a flat surface.
- 27:42And then kind of like there the hand arched over.
- 27:45So it kind of looks like the hand is the head of a swan and,
- 27:48and the the, the kind of the forearm is the neck of the swan,
- 27:52just to kind of give some context there.
- 27:55And if you haven't heard of idiomotor responses before, it's
- 27:59good to kind of connect it to something that most people can
- 28:02relate to. And, and I don't know if you
- 28:04have a different anecdote, Bob, but the one that I use is most
- 28:08people that drive have been in the passenger seat and they've
- 28:12been in the passenger seat when the driver hits the brakes later
- 28:16than they would and their right foot twitches like they're
- 28:19pushing for the brakes. Now, they're not choosing to do
- 28:22that, but their foot is absolutely moving in that point.
- 28:24And that's kind of like an idiomotor response.
- 28:27Do you have any anecdotes to kind of get people to pace
- 28:30people to kind of let them know what an idiomotor response is?
- 28:38Well, I've got I've got a Juju doll.
- 28:41I often use this and if I get really pissed off with somebody,
- 28:44I stick it up their arse and I watch them jump.
- 28:47OK, that's not completely true. I used to do this thing.
- 28:50Do you? I'm trying to think what it's
- 28:51called and I can't think of it right now.
- 28:54You might know, Adam. It's where you get a fake autumn
- 28:57and you put it down underneath a cloth to the side and you take
- 29:00the left arm away but you put the fake hand in.
- 29:02There, that's true, yeah. But you do the thing when you
- 29:05hit it with a hammer. I don't know why I stop.
- 29:07Do not because it's fantastic. I haven't done it for a couple
- 29:09years. So that's that's a really great
- 29:12idiom water response, where as you know, they'll claim they
- 29:15felt the pain as well. And they do it with the feather
- 29:17as well, don't they? They have the false.
- 29:18Yeah, well, starts with a feather, then a touch and so on
- 29:22and so forth. That becomes interesting.
- 29:24As I said, again, for anybody listening, it's great.
- 29:26Is it where we we suddenly, suddenly slide in a situation we
- 29:29never meant to talk about, but it's more interesting maybe than
- 29:32the subject itself. So I got this finger here.
- 29:38I don't know. So if you can see that it's a
- 29:40really bad gouge there and it was a it was a knife and it took
- 29:44the vein out. It was really bad and it never
- 29:46ever healed. So for years it never healed.
- 29:48So I would just touch it against anything.
- 29:49Just touch just. Pain just horrendous and I went
- 29:52to see this guy in the Southampton General and I was in
- 29:56the waiting list with a nurse and I was talking to the nurse
- 29:59about this and guess what she says to me?
- 30:01I tell you what, I dear love, I'm gonna go home and get a
- 30:05piece of silk and just rub, touch it.
- 30:07Just let the silk flow over it like that.
- 30:09Get the silk, then get a feather.
- 30:12So you've now got silk, Then you've got a feather.
- 30:13Then get a piece of cloth. Then get a piece of rougher
- 30:16cloth. And then get a matchbox of
- 30:18safety matches. Yeah, that's the thin one.
- 30:22Then get a matchbox of the rough sandpaper and put that over it.
- 30:26And bit by bit it learns things and it can handle it.
- 30:29Now I'm looking. I'm thinking this woman is an
- 30:31idiot. I'm at home.
- 30:33I did it a couple days. That's incredible.
- 30:38I'm queuing to go and see the master.
- 30:40And that's not sincere. And she just fixes my life like
- 30:44that. But it's just a great story.
- 30:45Yeah, it's one of my favorite stories.
- 30:47Yeah, piece. Of silk, Yeah.
- 30:49Piece of silk. Yeah.
- 30:49Club. Yeah.
- 30:50My Xbox sorted. Yeah.
- 30:51So I'm back to again. Maybe some form of muscle
- 30:54memory. Maybe.
- 30:55I've been through this before. I know how to handle it now.
- 30:58And so on and so forth. I don't know.
- 30:59That's why I'm not a great guitarist, by the way.
- 31:01That's the barring finger and that's my excuse.
- 31:04That's why I'm not a brilliant guitarist.
- 31:06Fair enough. When I've used the this one,
- 31:09I've tend to use it if if it feels like there is some kind of
- 31:12conflicted parts where I kind of link it to kind of parts therapy
- 31:15and allow the swan to kind of form part of that part.
- 31:18Now I might be kind of completely taking your kind of
- 31:21protocol and putting into a different kind of principle, but
- 31:24do you find it's useful when it when it plays the role of some
- 31:26kind of conflicted or disassociated part or it's more
- 31:30just a communication channel? Well, I'm, I'm really, I'm not
- 31:36sure the adjective to describe you.
- 31:38I'll go with weird because it's kind of OK.
- 31:41My earlier life was sitting in dark rooms trying to make
- 31:44contact with the with the dead. Yeah, I trained as a medium.
- 31:48Many years ago. And I'm not by the way, but but
- 31:52I, I spent a lot of time with some fascinating people.
- 31:55Most of them are shut eyes. That means their eyes are closed
- 31:57to the fact that nothing was going on.
- 31:59But everything again, I get a couple of really special people
- 32:01and that would happen again. Come on.
- 32:04Like, yes to this thing called parts therapy right now.
- 32:06And parts therapy, I can tell you one thing.
- 32:08Every medium in the world will just smile and go, oh, yeah.
- 32:11Because they'll say that's, well, that's what I do.
- 32:14Or you call it parts therapy. Do you?
- 32:16It's interesting. Is it the difference?
- 32:17Of course, we are claiming that parts therapy is within our
- 32:20subconscious. You know, the the the therapist
- 32:23do we do never claims the part to be real.
- 32:26It's a part within the subconscious.
- 32:29No, I won't come to sworn. And maybe there's an argument
- 32:32against that because in parts therapy, even then I could
- 32:36contradict myself again, even in pure parts therapy by just
- 32:39talking to them. I think I can get a part to talk
- 32:42to me in a foreign language eventually known again and
- 32:46again. We can, we can then argue what
- 32:48that is. What is up for in Larmish.
- 32:49Yeah. What what happened there?
- 32:51Are they, are they pretending? Is it DNA?
- 32:54Is it a thing they remembered when they were small?
- 32:57But it, it becomes interesting. But it's all a form of another
- 33:00part. That's it.
- 33:01Here's one of my favourites. Sorry.
- 33:02When I'm talking to somebody, I'll do this nearly all the
- 33:04time. When somebody comes to see me
- 33:06within the opening 5 minutes, I'm meeting somebody in my, my
- 33:09therapy room. Yeah, so let me go in and tell
- 33:11them what they're doing. I do my back because I'm a
- 33:13professional. I smile a lot.
- 33:15I nod my head. They like it when I nod my head.
- 33:18I put my fingers through my head again.
- 33:19I play with my goatee beard because I think it looks clever.
- 33:22I only, I only got this thing because it looks clever and I go
- 33:24aha aha. I make up noises and then it's
- 33:27time for me to speak and I'll say this then.
- 33:29So what you're telling me is you kind of got?
- 33:31This thing that you like to get rid of?
- 33:33But you can't get rid of it. But I'll be right.
- 33:34And this and I say watch, this is what I do.
- 33:37So I've got this thing, it's my phone but I don't want it so
- 33:40just do this and it's gone. But this is what you do if.
- 33:44What you're telling me is right. I've got this phone.
- 33:46I don't want it, so I'll just throw it over here.
- 33:49Shit, it's it doesn't seem to be gone and that seems to be you.
- 33:54It's almost like it's almost like it's all inside you, but
- 33:56it's totally outside. You have control without,
- 33:58without be right. And either my swear to you
- 34:01always this, this smile and go, yeah, that's exactly me.
- 34:07It's a lovely analogy that I just fell into one day and like
- 34:10one was there. And that's it.
- 34:11They just can't throw the bloody thing away.
- 34:13So my next line is, well, in that case, I'm wasting my time
- 34:15talking to you. You've already seen all the
- 34:16experts. You've told me about that.
- 34:18They've seen psychiatrists. Now I'm going to get you to
- 34:20close your eyes and do nothing. Don't try and help me.
- 34:22Don't try and fight me. We'll just see what happens.
- 34:24You'll let me talk to this other part.
- 34:25You'll think it's all going crazy, but at the end of it,
- 34:27there might be a fairly good chance that you're suddenly able
- 34:30to do this. And it might be the easiest
- 34:32thing you've ever done in your life.
- 34:33Adam, all of that is skirted. It's all.
- 34:37It's all completely. Stated.
- 34:38I don't even know that it's scripted anymore.
- 34:40You think about it, Yeah. It's great lines though, because
- 34:43a lot of it has this kind of you're priming them for a change
- 34:49can be so, so easily if you can work with the part that is
- 34:51willing to let it go. And I think, you know, what I
- 34:54like about working with people that have done this for a very
- 34:56long time is that you've figured out in an evolutionary way what
- 35:01works and what doesn't. And then you get rid of all the
- 35:03stuff that doesn't work, keep what does.
- 35:05And if that becomes scripts and sentences and phrases and those
- 35:08kind of things, there's, there's some magic in that because it's
- 35:11worked more often than it hasn't, if that makes sense.
- 35:14We all know them, don't we? We've got, we've got Jimmy or
- 35:16Mary around the corner. They, they sit there, they do
- 35:19the knitting or the hilarious pipe.
- 35:21They do nothing. They do.
- 35:23Absolutely nothing, but when you've got a problem you just go
- 35:27and sit down with them and for some reason in 5 minutes they're
- 35:30going to bloody that shit and they've no idea how they did it.
- 35:34Lines and faces that they've used and dumped and took back in
- 35:39again. Well, well, 50 years ago, have
- 35:43you? Yeah.
- 35:44Good therapy. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 35:47Well, Speaking of the therapy, you're going to do an example
- 35:50for us. You know, maybe it's some of the
- 35:52bits that you've kind of scripted before or just things
- 35:54that you find useful. And you know, I like doing this
- 35:58kind of stuff because I I be on the receiving end of of this
- 36:01kind of stuff. So is there anything that you
- 36:03want to kind of pre frame or kind of explain before you get
- 36:06into it or? OK, I had a few minutes to think
- 36:09about this. So I've got a good friend of
- 36:10mine. He was at the convention.
- 36:12We were like a couple of months ago.
- 36:18And he believes that everybody and every human being who's ever
- 36:25lived is anxious. They, they, they worry about,
- 36:29they worry about anxiety. I cannot believe that.
- 36:33That's my experience over many, many years.
- 36:35Even if we don't know we're anxious, I'll be that so.
- 36:38And I believe that. I see a lot of clients.
- 36:41Maybe you do too. They come to me.
- 36:42There's nothing wrong with them. There's nothing major wrong with
- 36:45them, especially a lot of Americans.
- 36:46Americans love therapists. Yeah.
- 36:48So I've got, I've got Americans that have been clients of mine
- 36:50for a couple of years now. It's almost as if I hypnotize
- 36:52them to keep coming back with money, bunches of money for me.
- 36:55And we, we joke, I'm joke about this with them, but they like
- 36:58the session. They just enjoy the session.
- 37:00So I'll do right now a standard session I would do with somebody
- 37:04who just wants to relax. How about that?
- 37:06They haven't brought, they haven't brought anything to my
- 37:08door at all. But I'll also make a claim.
- 37:12And the claim I'll make is this is a great session to use with
- 37:17just about anybody. And by the way, I really believe
- 37:21that. So if I sat down with anybody
- 37:22right now, I would do this with them.
- 37:24And later I'm claiming they'll they'll feel better afterwards.
- 37:31It's just a great session. So what I'm going to do is I'm
- 37:33going to talk to you. Then I'm going to tell you to
- 37:36relax. Well, just let's get on with it
- 37:37and see what happens. Is that OK?
- 37:38Perfect. Obviously this will be, it'll be
- 37:40shorter than I would normally do, but everything will be in
- 37:43the other that we need to be in and we're just going to do it
- 37:45like this. Are we?
- 37:46Because this is a bit, we haven't, we haven't planned.
- 37:48So we're just going to do it like that.
- 37:49So I can imagine you're just a client and we're just going to
- 37:51go from there. Yeah.
- 37:52And. We're going to assume.
- 37:54That before we start, everything's fine in your life.
- 37:56But you've agreed with me that. Yeah, it's a strange thing.
- 37:59Sometimes we all get a little bit anxious about this and about
- 38:01the next thing we included, all of us.
- 38:03And we'll we'll go with that and see, see where we are.
- 38:05Is that OK? Perfect.
- 38:08OK, I didn't. For anyone else watching this,
- 38:10just let me say that I always say the same things when you're
- 38:13going online with anybody I tell.
- 38:15I asked him if they're alone in the house.
- 38:18Then I asked him to close their eyes.
- 38:19I'm not going to do this in this case.
- 38:21But then I tell them that if there was a fire in the house,
- 38:23their eyes would open. If there was a gas, their eyes
- 38:27would open. A smell of gas.
- 38:28It could be in the house or out in the house.
- 38:29Maybe they don't have gas. If anybody walks into this room
- 38:32at that time, your eyes will open, and if you don't hear my
- 38:34voice for longer than 10 seconds, your eyes will
- 38:36automatically. Open.
- 38:37I'm never quiet for that long. Is that OK?
- 38:40They say yes. So that's the safety factors.
- 38:42I do. And having said that, I'm saying
- 38:44that, but I'm not going to put it in no, because it takes me a
- 38:47lot longer to say that. So we'll just go straight for
- 38:49it, assuming we've done that, Is that OK?
- 38:51OK, all I need you to do is set by.
- 38:53And by the way, here's my induction.
- 38:54It's it's it's the easiest induction in the world.
- 38:57You'll like it, I promise you. I didn't just take a nice deep
- 38:59breath, close your eyes and just relax.
- 39:03There we go. It's as simple as that.
- 39:06All I want you to do is sit back, just drift and dream and
- 39:08flow it. Into my voice, just the tambour
- 39:11of my voice. It's just the it's just the
- 39:13vibration of my voice. And as you do that, Adam, I
- 39:15simply want you to to remember that I don't want you to help
- 39:18me, but I don't want you to fight me.
- 39:19Just allow there's a word. I want you to allow all that's
- 39:22what to do. And we'll see where we go from
- 39:24there. I think you'll really enjoy it.
- 39:27I want you right now to concentrate on your heels until
- 39:30your heels to just relax and just allow it to happen.
- 39:33And as you allow your heels. To relax, you allow that same
- 39:36relaxation. To go all.
- 39:37Along the source of your feet, right into your toes.
- 39:41How about that every nerve, every fiber, every muscle, just
- 39:44completely let it go right there.
- 39:46Feels absolutely fantastic. You know you simply allow.
- 39:51You allow that same feeling to come all the way back to your
- 39:53heels and right up and into your ankles.
- 39:57I know you can allow it to go up and into your calves.
- 39:59The skin, the hair, the bones, and right up now and into your
- 40:03knees, the gristle there, the tendons.
- 40:07And you just tell them to like, go, just say relax, you're
- 40:11alone. Here's that word again.
- 40:12I say a lot, don't I? You just allow that saying.
- 40:15You don't try and make it happen.
- 40:16You don't try and fight it. You simply allow you allow that
- 40:19same relaxation to go up through all muscles of your thighs, into
- 40:23your hips, around your hips, into the small of your back
- 40:26right there. You know, around and into your
- 40:29lower tummy right there. One of the Aborigines believe
- 40:32this is where your brain is. Can you believe that highly
- 40:35intelligent source of people telling you that that's probably
- 40:39where we get that feeling, the gut feeling right there.
- 40:42And you tell that that your lower tummy to just relax and
- 40:46you allow you allow that same relaxation to go up through your
- 40:49diaphragm into your heart and into your.
- 40:51Lungs. Your lungs are breathing.
- 40:53Perfectly. Your heart is beating absolutely
- 40:56spot on. It goes into your shoulders now,
- 40:58and it's almost like a step through the screen at this
- 41:01point. You've got an imagination.
- 41:02You're going to imagine me stepping through that screen and
- 41:05walking behind you and taking my hands and placing it very gently
- 41:09onto your shoulders just like that.
- 41:11And my energy, just two human beings making contact.
- 41:14My energy makes contact with you.
- 41:17It's a healing energy, and you kind of load that to flow right
- 41:20through you. As that relaxation goes from
- 41:22your upper arms to your elbows to your forearms to your wrists,
- 41:26to your hands, to your fingertips.
- 41:28You might even feel, you might even feel a heartbeat and one
- 41:33particular finger. Yeah, just like that, just like
- 41:36a heartbeat and one particular finger.
- 41:41But you allow this relaxation to go up to your shoulders again,
- 41:45crossing into your chest. And all I want you to do at this
- 41:47point, I had a mistake. One nice deep breath all the way
- 41:50in for me. And as you let it go, you go 10
- 41:54times deeper. You just relax completely.
- 41:56But you stay in the chair. You don't pull off the chair.
- 41:58You feel fantastic. And that's relaxation goes under
- 42:01your shoulders again and into the back of your neck and the
- 42:04back of your head at the top of your head and your forehead and
- 42:07your eyes and the muscles round your eyes and your cheeks and
- 42:10your lips and your mouth right on your throat again to your
- 42:14chest and right down into your water.
- 42:15Me and you just dream and you just float and you just let me
- 42:20burns. You allow me to take you to a
- 42:23wonderful, wonderful healing place.
- 42:26It's all we're going to do. And I want you to allow right
- 42:28now any forms of anxiety you have ever had in your life, any
- 42:34anxiety you have ever had in your life, because this is the
- 42:36first day for the rest of your life you allow that anxiety to
- 42:40leave your body now. Just like like smoke spelling
- 42:44away from a small campfire, just getting higher and higher and
- 42:49higher through the sea and past the clouds, past the moon and
- 42:52the stars to the far edge of the universe is just keep going
- 42:57some. What's that?
- 43:01Same with worries. We've all got worries of the
- 43:03past, we've got some worries of the present for sure, and many
- 43:06of us have got worries of the future.
- 43:08We're going to take all of these in a bundle, Adam.
- 43:10We're just going to let them go. So always of the past, present
- 43:13and future, we just allow them to leave now and therefore
- 43:17higher and higher till they 2 are just simply gone.
- 43:19And you know, Adam, it's a funny thing that every human being
- 43:22who's ever lived, me included, we all have feelings of guilt
- 43:26and shame and remorse. Sometimes these other human
- 43:30beings, they put it on us, do they?
- 43:31They say we should feel guilty about this, are remorseful about
- 43:34that. And we're thinking, well, I
- 43:36don't think I've anything to feel guilty about.
- 43:37But before we know it, we're feeling guilty.
- 43:40It's ridiculous, isn't it? But don't worry about that.
- 43:43Everybody's got something to feel guilty about.
- 43:45And sometimes we are guilty and we say I'm really sorry about
- 43:47what happened about then. I want to let that go and that's
- 43:50OK. This is the day we get to do
- 43:52that. So any old feelings of guilt or
- 43:54feelings right now of guilt? Shame, and the most we let it
- 44:00go. Now this is the day we just let
- 44:01that stuff go. We let it float away from us
- 44:03again, like I said, just like smoke spilling away from a small
- 44:07comfort, just getting higher and higher and higher far the edge
- 44:12of the universe where it's just keep going, leaving us feeling
- 44:18just absolutely fantastic and all we do now, Adam, I leave you
- 44:23right there and I take a kind of a sidestep and I talk to a pot
- 44:27that's along with Adam. Hey, you could be a genie.
- 44:31You could be a a Princess, you could be a a traveler in life
- 44:39without him. You have been for thousands of
- 44:40years. You can be a main guide.
- 44:42I don't care. You could just be a part within
- 44:44his subconscious. But I'm talking to you.
- 44:46That spot has been looking after Adam all this time.
- 44:49No one's ever thanked you. Can I do that now?
- 44:51Thank you. Thank you so much for taking
- 44:53care of this young man and giving him the life that he's
- 44:56got. Make him choose the decisions
- 44:57and he's choosing because he needs to choose these decisions
- 45:00simply to do the right thing only because it's the right
- 45:03thing to do. Thank you for everything you've
- 45:04done and I give you, I bless him.
- 45:10We want to do just a couple. More things with Adam.
- 45:12If we can't here, we got rid of the anxieties.
- 45:13And then what is the feelings of guilt, shame and remorse?
- 45:16But we want to place something in there and let's go right
- 45:18through his crown chakra at the very top of his head.
- 45:21And I want to pour in something that Adam's never heard of.
- 45:24I want to pour in some anthropole on importance of
- 45:27anthropol that comes from the banks of the river Spear in the
- 45:30Highlands of Scotland. It's a beautiful, magical thing.
- 45:35It just pours. It's it's whiter than white.
- 45:37It's almost silver and it flows and it glows and it's like a
- 45:40liquid, but it's just like a light.
- 45:42It was in through incomplete. Part of his brain.
- 45:49Dante's muggler and it goes right through all of his body,
- 45:52cleansing, every single part of healing.
- 45:54And along with that, we put him 1000 CCS of confidence and
- 45:58happiness. How about that?
- 46:00That's all we want. That's all we need.
- 46:02I will take care of the rest. We just want confidence and
- 46:05happiness and beating and beating.
- 46:08Beating more through his entire being, just allowing that to
- 46:14happen, allowing him to feel fantastic.
- 46:19That's it, just like that. I want to thank you for that.
- 46:22I know we need to do something else, don't we?
- 46:28I need to talk to Adam again. So, Adam, we've got rid of
- 46:31anxieties. We've got rid of worries of the
- 46:33past and worries of the present. What is of the future?
- 46:35We've got rid of guilt, shame and remorse that's gone to the
- 46:38farthest of the universe. But in its place we've poured
- 46:40them some anthropole with confidence and happiness.
- 46:42That confidence and happiness will some of any challenges you
- 46:45can. Have in the future.
- 46:47So with all the bad stuff gone and the good stuff and all I do
- 46:49know is I build an impregnable bubble around you.
- 46:52How about that? And it takes this long snap of a
- 46:56finger. You know how this impregnable
- 46:59bubble that you are safe and all the bad stuff is gone, all the
- 47:02good stuff is in, bad stuff can't get back and the good
- 47:05stuff can't get out. How cool is that?
- 47:07But I believe you with a little warning.
- 47:08It's just a funny thing that happens in people's lives Every
- 47:11night again, you'll hear a little knock at the door.
- 47:13It's. Totally gone.
- 47:17And it will be like that anxiety, remember that anxiety,
- 47:20it'll be a voice of that anxiety trying to get back in that's at
- 47:23some time to time and you'll hear.
- 47:27Me can I get back and? That's your job to just smile
- 47:31and say, look, you're just an echo.
- 47:34You're not even real. I've got an impregnable bubble
- 47:37around me. You cannot get back in.
- 47:39You're just an echo. Go flow, shame, grow, be better.
- 47:44You're going to be great now if the anxiety continues by the way
- 47:49we do. Item is this and it.
- 47:51Sounds completely crazy, and that's what's wonderful about
- 47:54it. You can do it in your
- 47:55imagination or you can do it as I do in real form.
- 47:59But. All I want you to do is this.
- 48:01If that anxiety is but knocking again are not worries are not
- 48:05feelings of guilt or shame and remorse aren't even real
- 48:07anymore. All we do is this.
- 48:09We take a nice deep breath all the way in and.
- 48:14We just blow it away and it simply works.
- 48:20Remember what we talked on earlier?
- 48:22It simply works. We can even laugh at ourselves
- 48:25while doing it. That works.
- 48:27That works even better. But we need to get a deep breath
- 48:29all the way in and we just blow it away and it feels fun,
- 48:38fantastic. And that's how we went.
- 48:42So, Adam I. Want you to sit back?
- 48:43Relax and remember that you can do this anytime for the rest of
- 48:47your life. You can talk.
- 48:47There's wonderful parts within you, real or imagined, but I
- 48:51like to call them real and you. You can take care of all
- 48:57challenges. You've got and build up the
- 48:58sense they've got within you. And remember always to safeguard
- 49:02and ensure you have this wonderful impregnable bubble
- 49:05always sealed to make sure that you are who you want to be and
- 49:08can't do what you want to do. The second I've got to come to
- 49:11all the way up to five, you've got to come on.
- 49:12I'll be back feeling just absolutely brand new like you
- 49:14for a 20 hours sleep in a fireball Marshall.
- 49:16So one, being aware of my voice, 2, taking a nice drink of fresh
- 49:19water and water. 3, awareness coming back into your body now.
- 49:22And four, just take a nice deep breath all the way in for me.
- 49:25And in five, you can open your eyes and you find yourself once
- 49:28again fully clothed, just like before.
- 49:32You might want to try that with your clients.
- 49:34Lovely, fully clothed, just like before.
- 49:36They love it. That's amazing, Bob.
- 49:39Really enjoyed that. Yeah.
