- 0:01Chapter 42 from the book of Isaiah.
- 0:04This one's an interesting chapter because once again, I
- 0:08see Jesus throughout it, and I know it also relates to Cyrus of
- 0:15Persia back at that time, but I think it applies even more so to
- 0:20Jesus. And I'll show how that's true as
- 0:23we get going in this study. So first let us pray, dear Lord,
- 0:28please be with us as always and let the Holy Spirit give us
- 0:32revelation, speak to whomever listens to this with your words
- 0:37and give knowledge, wisdom, application to our lives of how
- 0:42this effects all of us. We ask for this in Jesus name,
- 0:45Amen. So it starts out saying, here is
- 0:49my servant whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight.
- 0:55I will put my spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the
- 1:00nations. Now the study Bible says this,
- 1:03you know, probably refers to Cyrus, and I will, I guess I'll
- 1:08read. I don't know if it says it
- 1:10there. Oh, who was God's servant?
- 1:15Here's what the study Bible says.
- 1:17At first glance, it seems that this servant might refer to King
- 1:21Cyrus of Persia. God had already talked about
- 1:24using one from the east for his purposes.
- 1:28But also remember that Jesus arrives from the east on the
- 1:31clouds and people see it like as lightning flashes from the east.
- 1:36So it will be at the coming of the Son of Man on the clouds.
- 1:39So that's just another reference that was in my study Bible, but
- 1:44something I wanted to mention. So God had already talked about
- 1:47using one from the East for his purposes.
- 1:50And Cyrus did do great things to redeem God's people.
- 1:54He set them free and helped them restore their homeland.
- 1:57However, though those Cyrus delivered the Israelites from
- 2:01Babylon, he stands as a mere prototype of an anointed ruler
- 2:06to come who will deliver the world from bondage to from the
- 2:11bondage to sin. Many Jewish scholars see the
- 2:15servant as Israel itself, suffering for the sins of
- 2:20humanity. To some extent, this fits.
- 2:23For example, the servant is identified by name as Jacob or
- 2:29Israel in verse one. It's Jacob or Israel in verse in
- 2:35well, that's in chapter 44 verse one, or Israel in chapter 41
- 2:40verse 8. But chapter 49 adds a new angle.
- 2:44The servant's purpose is to bring Jacob back to God in verse
- 2:50449.5 and to be a light for the Gentiles in 49 verse 6.
- 3:00Christians have always understood the servant to be
- 3:03Jesus Christ. In fact, at Jesus baptism the
- 3:07divine voice alluded to Isaiah 42 one saying, This is my Son,
- 3:13whom I love. With him I am well pleased,
- 3:16allowing for translation from Hebrews to Greek, With him I am
- 3:21well pleased is the same as in whom I delight.
- 3:25From Isaiah 42 verses one through 4 is quoted in Matthew
- 3:291218 through 21 in reference to Jesus.
- 3:32So that's exactly what came to my mind as I read.
- 3:35This was Matthew 1218. So it says, here is my servant,
- 3:43whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight.
- 3:48I will put my Spirit on him and he will proclaim justice to the
- 3:54nations. Now, what's really interesting
- 3:57is this is in the book of Matthew and this is I should
- 4:01read the sentences before because it basically affirms
- 4:06this isn't this isn't just like the servant.
- 4:11I mean, Jesus basically affirms that he is the servant.
- 4:14OK, it our Matthew affirms this that the servant talked about in
- 4:20Isaiah is Jesus. So if you start at Matthew
- 4:25chapter 12 verse 15, it says aware of this, Jesus withdrew
- 4:30from that place. A large crowd followed him and
- 4:33he healed all who were I'll. He warned them not to tell
- 4:39others about him. This was to fulfill what was
- 4:43spoken through the prophet Isaiah.
- 4:46And that's where it says here my here is my servant whom I have
- 4:50chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight.
- 4:53I will put my spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the
- 4:57nation's. He will not quarrel or cry out.
- 5:00No one will hear his voice in the streets.
- 5:04A bruised Reed He will not break in a smoldering Wick He will not
- 5:09snuff out till he has brought justice through to victory in
- 5:15his name. The will put their hope.
- 5:18Now that's from Isaiah that's chapter 42 verses one through 4.
- 5:23So Matthew specifically quotes Isaiah 42 one through 4 and it's
- 5:30talking about Jesus. I mean, this is happening at the
- 5:32time of Jesus. So to me, that's very clear
- 5:35evidence that this is not really talking about Cyrus, but this is
- 5:40talking about Jesus. And and then further on in the
- 5:45book of Isaiah, which you know, I actually, I read that through
- 5:51the book of Matthew. I read he will not shout or cry
- 5:54out or rise. His voice in the streets, a
- 5:56bruised Reed he will not break and a smoldering Wick he will
- 5:59not snuff out. In faithfulness.
- 6:01He will bring forth justice. He will not falter or be
- 6:04discouraged till he establishes justice on earth.
- 6:09So that's definitely Jesus. Nobody else established justice
- 6:12on earth. And then it says in his teaching
- 6:15the islands will put their hope. So something else about this
- 6:20servant in whom I delight because this is in Mark chapter
- 6:271. Actually, let's go back to
- 6:29Matthew chapter 3, verse 16. As soon as Jesus was baptized,
- 6:35he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened
- 6:39and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and a
- 6:45lighting on him. So Isaiah says that I will put
- 6:53my spirit on him. So at Jesus's baptism he saw the
- 6:58Spirit of God descending like a dove and a lighting on him.
- 7:02In the gospel of Mark chapter one, verse 10 says the same
- 7:05thing. Just as Jesus was coming up out
- 7:08of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit
- 7:12descending on him like a dove. And then Luke, the other gospel
- 7:19says the same thing in chapter 3, verse 22.
- 7:23And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove,
- 7:30and a voice came from heaven. You are my son whom I love with
- 7:36you. I am well pleased.
- 7:39So we you have the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus all
- 7:43present at the same time. And the Father is saying you are
- 7:47my son and I am pleased with you.
- 7:50And then this is, you know, talking about in Isaiah, so 700
- 7:55BC in that time frame, Isaiah is aware through God that there is
- 8:03a servant coming whom God will put his Spirit on, who will
- 8:07bring justice to the nations and justice on earth.
- 8:13So this is all to me very clear that this is all about Jesus in
- 8:18chapter 42 from the book of Isaiah.
- 8:22Now it says that in verse 4, it says in his teaching the islands
- 8:27will put their hope. Now the islands are kind of
- 8:30personified about people, but this is also what I've come to
- 8:35understand as the Millennium time frame.
- 8:38Like what is the purpose of the Millennium time frame?
- 8:42And if we go to Isaiah chapter 2 verse 3, it says many peoples
- 8:51will come and say, come, let us go up to the mountain of the
- 8:56Lord, to the temple of the God of Jacob.
- 9:00He will teach us His ways so that we may walk in his paths.
- 9:07The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from
- 9:12Jerusalem. There is so much in here in
- 9:15Isaiah chapter 2 verse 3. So first of all, when Jesus
- 9:21returns, he claims the city of Jerusalem and that's where he is
- 9:25a king and he will reign for 1000 years.
- 9:29And this is this is talking about in Isaiah chapter 2.
- 9:34OK, again, let's just go backwards in Isaiah chapter 2
- 9:37and reread this because this is really important.
- 9:41This is what Isaiah, son of Amos saw concerning Judah and
- 9:47Jerusalem in the last days. OK, again, that's always a
- 9:53reference to the return of Christ, the return of the
- 9:56Messiah. In the last days.
- 9:59The mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as
- 10:05the highest of the mountains. So also in Ezekiel it talks
- 10:10about 1/3 temple. If you're not aware, the Temple
- 10:15Institute has plans, has all of the components that go inside of
- 10:20the third temple. And ironically, just this week,
- 10:23this is August 15th, 2025, apparently there was a, well,
- 10:30not apparently there was a sacrifice, it was a called a
- 10:33practice sacrifice for the red heifer.
- 10:36And that's a purification event. And it was supposed to be a
- 10:41practice one. That's what everybody knew it
- 10:42as. But there was some speculation
- 10:45by some. And it seems like there are some
- 10:47like whistleblowers now who are saying that this sacrifice of
- 10:52the red heifer was actually an official one, like they followed
- 10:56all of the procedures that they need to do.
- 10:58So now it's done and over and they have ashes from the red
- 11:03heifer which they have not had for I think I've heard like 2000
- 11:08years or thousands of years. The sacrifice has not been done
- 11:13and it's it's required so that they can go forward with the
- 11:17building of the third temple. So that's like things are
- 11:21progress progressing according to Bible prophecy.
- 11:25So again, Isaiah, the book of Isaiah was written in 700 BC and
- 11:30it tells us in the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple
- 11:34will be established as the highest of the mountains.
- 11:37It will be exalted above the hills and all nations will
- 11:44stream to it. Many people will come and say,
- 11:48let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the
- 11:52God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways so
- 11:56that meet we may walk in his paths.
- 11:59The law will go out from Zion. Zion is kind of, you know, it's
- 12:03like the another name for Jerusalem and the the word of
- 12:10the Lord from Jerusalem, the word of the Lord in the Gospel
- 12:14of John, the first statement, the word became flesh.
- 12:18That is Jesus. It's talking about Jesus.
- 12:21So the word of the Lord from Jerusalem, and then in the next
- 12:25verse it says he will judge between nations and will settle
- 12:29disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into
- 12:34plowshares and their Spears into pruning hooks.
- 12:38Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they
- 12:44train for war anymore. So this is something really
- 12:49important because just yesterday I actually listened to a podcast
- 12:53where people actually, there's a nun who Tucker Carlson
- 12:56interviewed and then the spokesperson, I don't know if
- 12:59she said it or if it was just the person who was showing a
- 13:04clip of it, but they were basically talking about we're in
- 13:07the Millennium right now. That is so false.
- 13:10We do not have peace. This is talking about the
- 13:13Millennium in Isaiah chapter 2. Are we in a time where people
- 13:18don't train for war anymore? Nation will not take up sword
- 13:22against nation. Do we have all nations going to
- 13:25the temple in Jerusalem, streaming to it?
- 13:28It also talks about there's peace like animals don't even
- 13:31like attack one another. Like the lion and lamb lay down.
- 13:36A child can play with a cobra and not be bitten.
- 13:39There's just like so many different things that happen
- 13:44when Jesus comes back to earth to reign as king for that
- 13:49thousand years. We are not in the Millennium
- 13:53right now. And there are people who think
- 13:56we are. And I just, I, I guess the only
- 13:59thing I can say is those people have not studied the Bible.
- 14:03They may have read pieces of the Bible, but if you studied the
- 14:06Bible, you would clearly see this.
- 14:08All we have to do is talk about Isaiah chapter 2 verse or
- 14:12chapter 2. And then also in Ezekiel, there
- 14:16are multiple chapters that go through very specific designs of
- 14:21the third temple. And originally I wasn't sure,
- 14:25like when I first started reading the Bible, I didn't know
- 14:28like, what temple is this? And did this already get built?
- 14:31Is it coming? You know, like, and so I did a
- 14:34comparison of the description of all the different temples that
- 14:38were talked about in the Bible. So the first temple, the second
- 14:41temple, and then there's this temple in Ezekiel and the sizes
- 14:46do not match the other two. That's how I was aware that this
- 14:51is a different building and it's very descriptive.
- 14:54And just like when God gave Moses and the details of all of
- 15:00the the Tabernacle and the curtains and he was on the
- 15:03mountain with God for like 40 days and God basically
- 15:08downloaded these, you know, attention Moses to all these
- 15:12details. And this is what I want you to
- 15:14to do for me to design for me. And it was like a replica of
- 15:18what happens in the heavenly realms, apparently.
- 15:21But anyway, he got he 40 days. He got all these details.
- 15:25Well, God gave Ezekiel heal extreme details and it even
- 15:31talks about like in the future about what will happen and about
- 15:37the Prince and I I think maybe the Prince, I don't know the I
- 15:41think it says something about the Prince eating with the Lord.
- 15:45And I actually there's other scripture where I've interpreted
- 15:49it. This is my interpretation.
- 15:51I seriously wonder if David will literally be reigning in the
- 15:57third temple, not reigning, but participating because of
- 16:03scripture verse interpreting scripture.
- 16:06So because there's this this person who's in the temple and
- 16:11he sacrifices a bull for himself.
- 16:14I think he's called a Prince. He sacrifices a bull for his
- 16:17himself and for the people. Well, Jesus wouldn't do that
- 16:21because he doesn't need to do that.
- 16:23And then it also says that the Prince would eat with the Lord
- 16:27and the Lord would only come in from One Direction, the east.
- 16:30And, and if you know anything about what the Temple Mount,
- 16:33they've kind of the Muslims have bordered up the one of the
- 16:38gates, the at the Temple Mount because the Messiah is supposed
- 16:43to come through that, you know, so there's like all this
- 16:46preparation. It's really fascinating when you
- 16:49get into studying this because you realize that all the stuff
- 16:53that's happening in the world is truly a result of what the Bible
- 16:58tells us. I mean, if we want to know
- 17:00what's going on, all we have to do is look in Scripture and it
- 17:04becomes very apparent what is happening in our world.
- 17:08And it's very fascinating because we are living in times
- 17:13where things that are talked about in the Bible like 2700
- 17:17years ago are coming to fruition.
- 17:21So this thing seriously, I think it was July 1st when this red
- 17:26heifer sacrifice happened. So and then we have like next
- 17:32month. Well, there's a whole bunch of
- 17:33people that are thinking that the Rapture is going to happen,
- 17:35and next month during Rosh Hashanah, I do believe it's
- 17:40going to happen some year in that one.
- 17:43This year kind of seems a little bit early to me, but anything is
- 17:46possible. I just we haven't seen the
- 17:50lawless one being revealed, although he could be revealed.
- 17:53There's a big meeting happening at the same time during Rosh
- 17:57Hashanah with the UN and apparently that one of the
- 18:00things that will be discussed again is this 2 state solution,
- 18:04the dividing of the land, which is also talked about in the Book
- 18:07of Revelation, that this is turned over to the Gentiles for,
- 18:12you know, 3 1/2 years, like don't measure it.
- 18:16That's in the Book of Revelation.
- 18:18So let's you know, these are certainly times to be watching
- 18:24what happens in the world because if it lines up with what
- 18:28Bible prophecy has to say, we are certainly in these like late
- 18:33stages of the end times, which would be very fascinating to see
- 18:38all of this unfold. And just to, I guess most
- 18:42importantly, that we are prepared with our relationship
- 18:46with God that we we do believe, we proclaim our faith in Jesus.
- 18:54We know that Jesus died on the cross for us and that by his
- 18:58death on the cross, he broke the curse and enables us to get into
- 19:01the Kingdom of God. And the other thing is we need
- 19:04to make Jesus Lord of our lives like what he taught again, just
- 19:09like this says the people say come and let us teach.
- 19:13Let him teach us his ways. So Jesus came the first time to
- 19:19teach us, to teach us how to live.
- 19:22And he gives us a helper, the Holy Spirit, to help us live out
- 19:27what he taught us to do when he came, what is filled in the
- 19:31gospels, all of the information about how we should live.
- 19:35That's what Jesus did. And he revealed God's Kingdom.
- 19:38And he's, you know, basically saying this is what you need to
- 19:41do. And there is a reward for you,
- 19:44the Kingdom. You're going to be brothers and
- 19:46sisters of mine, basically. I'm paraphrasing all this, but
- 19:50there's an eternal time that we're all going to be together
- 19:53and that it's all worth it. I mean, and then his followers
- 19:56continue that message to talk about the Kingdom of God, the
- 19:59gospel messages about the Kingdom of God and Jesus
- 20:03sacrifices. His own life so that we could be
- 20:06living with him like that was like, the greatest sign of love
- 20:11is to lay down your life for someone else.
- 20:13And that's what Jesus did for all of us.
- 20:15And so anyway, there's there's a lot to look forward to in a
- 20:19positive way, but there's also a lot for those who reject Jesus
- 20:25as the son of God, which we just read about.
- 20:27God said, this is my son, who I'm well pleased.
- 20:31And then it also is affirmed in the book of Isaiah.
- 20:34So there's no excuse about Old Testament readers, the people of
- 20:38the Jewish faith. This information is here.
- 20:40Like I've been going through every single chap it seems like
- 20:43every single chapter of Isaiah and seeing Jesus present in
- 20:48every chapter. So there's just, I don't know.
- 20:52I mean, there's, it's just very clear.
- 20:54But we'll get into that too, because I'll talk a little bit
- 20:57more about that. Anyway, the, I always wondered
- 21:00what's this purpose of the Millennium anyway?
- 21:03And I think this is what it tells us that Jesus is going to
- 21:08be teaching people. There are going to be survivors
- 21:11that come out of God's wrath. When Jesus returns, he's
- 21:14bringing wrath those who are unrepentant and those who
- 21:18rejected him. However, God is very just and
- 21:23today I was actually this thought crossed my mind about
- 21:28people who don't necessarily Maybe they grew up in another
- 21:34relate they never heard about Jesus or something.
- 21:39Well, first of all, the Bible clearly tells us before God's
- 21:43wrath goes out on people, before any destruction is done, they
- 21:47will know about it. There's every single person it
- 21:50says an Angel goes out sending the message of the Kingdom of
- 21:53God and also warning people not to take the mark of the beast
- 21:56when that happens. So there is, there is clear
- 22:00communication to everyone about who Jesus is and what not to do.
- 22:07And so people will either decide to I don't want to listen to
- 22:12that, or they'll decide to listen to it.
- 22:15And so you, either you, we will all have a choice to reject
- 22:20Jesus or to accept him. And so we really are in control
- 22:26of our destiny and that's our choice.
- 22:28We can either believe Jesus or we can deny him.
- 22:32And if we deny him, it says that if you deny, Jesus said if you
- 22:36deny me, I will deny you in front of the Father.
- 22:39And Jesus is the only way to the Father.
- 22:42His life made he. He's the way, the truth and the
- 22:48life. So he's the way into God's
- 22:50Kingdom. He led the way.
- 22:52He is the truth. Everything that's talked about
- 22:55with him in the in the Bible, in the Gospels is true and he is
- 23:00the life. He gives us eternal life.
- 23:03So without him we would not have this because of the law.
- 23:09The wages of sin is death. We're all sinners, so we would
- 23:12all die. And so this God allowed in his
- 23:17mercy for mankind, He allowed substitute sacrifices.
- 23:21That's what animal sacrifices were in the Old Testament times.
- 23:25But Jesus came to take that all away.
- 23:27So the animal sacrifices aren't needed anymore.
- 23:30He sacrificed his life and just like the red heifer had to be
- 23:34without blemish. No, you know, never work, you
- 23:38know, like it had to be pure. Jesus was pure.
- 23:43He never sinned and his death made atonement for us.
- 23:49The book of Hebrews tell us, tells us without the shedding of
- 23:52blood, there is no forgiveness. So Jesus's blood was shed for
- 23:57us. So there's, there's just so much
- 24:01to absorb here, but let's continue on.
- 24:04This is what God the Lord says, the creator of the heavens who
- 24:08stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that
- 24:11springs from it, who gives breath to its people and life to
- 24:16those who walk in it. I, the Lord have called you in
- 24:20righteousness. I will take hold of your hand.
- 24:24I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the
- 24:28people. Now within these chapters, just
- 24:33as that first question and answer that we talked about from
- 24:37the study Bible about who is this talking about the servant
- 24:40because there's some indication that it's Israel.
- 24:44But the way that I look at that is that Jesus came from Israel
- 24:51because he came through the line of Judah and Judah was a tribe
- 24:55of the greater group of Israel. Like he was the southern
- 24:59Kingdom, but still all Israel. There were 12 tribes and he is
- 25:04from one of those 12 tribes, the tribe of Judah.
- 25:08So sometimes in Bible prophecy, and maybe this is just to keep
- 25:15people who don't study the Bible from understanding this, and
- 25:19maybe this is how the Holy Spirit reveals things to people,
- 25:23Names will be substituted. Or it's kind of like you have to
- 25:26follow the dotted line. Like if it says Israel or Jacob,
- 25:31well, Jesus is a descendant of that lineage.
- 25:34So you just have to put it all together.
- 25:36Scripture, interpret scripture. So I, the Lord have called you
- 25:40in righteousness. I will take hold of your hand.
- 25:42I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the
- 25:46people. I think that's really important
- 25:48because how is Israel a covenant for the people?
- 25:52It's not necessarily a a covenant for the people, but
- 25:56Jesus is. Jesus is the new covenant.
- 26:01It no longer do people die because of breaking the laws of
- 26:06God that he gave Moses eternally.
- 26:09Like eternal death. Jesus is a new covenant of life
- 26:14that his atonement basically forgives us or purifies us from
- 26:22what would cause death to us. So Jesus is the new covenant,
- 26:26the life that is given to everyone.
- 26:29That's why it's so important to understand who he is and what he
- 26:32did for us and why he is so important that without his
- 26:37bloodshed on that cross, we would not have the opportunity
- 26:41to be in God's Kingdom. And OK, and then and a light for
- 26:46the Gentiles. So of course, I mean, Jesus is a
- 26:52light for the Gentiles. He, he is for all nations.
- 26:57His death on the cross is for all nations.
- 26:59It's just that, you know, not all nations believe, but they
- 27:03have the opportunity. It's, it's a gift from God to
- 27:08all human beings on this earth. And, and it says to open the
- 27:13eyes that are blind. Well, that's Jesus opening the
- 27:17eyes of the blind in a literal, well, a metaphorical sense, a
- 27:21literal sense in a spiritual sense, like he healed blind
- 27:25people. But there's a spiritual
- 27:27blindness too. And that comes from the
- 27:30rejection of Jesus. Why someone rejects Jesus, I
- 27:34have no idea, but people do. And you know, maybe there could
- 27:38be a lot of reasons, but when someone chooses to reject Jesus,
- 27:43then they are in alignment with darkness.
- 27:48Basically they are blinded. And at a certain point, I don't
- 27:51know how God decides this, but at a certain point he will turn
- 27:56people over to their choices. Like he keeps pursuing us and
- 28:01calling us, but, and, and we often reject him over and over.
- 28:06He was, he's very, very patient. But at a certain point he's
- 28:11like, it's, it's like he's that's enough.
- 28:14And he turns people over to their desires.
- 28:18And then he's, you know, that's what happens with people.
- 28:22And when I first read that in the Bible, I was like, gosh, I
- 28:25know God has given me multiple chances.
- 28:28And I've in hindsight realized that I didn't accept the calling
- 28:34when there was probably times where God was calling me.
- 28:39And and so I didn't, you know, become of service.
- 28:44I didn't follow through with any of that.
- 28:46I kind of pushed it off and it'll, it'll happen later.
- 28:50And so I really got concerned about my own life, like, is God
- 28:54going to just say, OK, I've given you enough chances and now
- 28:57that's it? Like, I don't know when our time
- 29:00is, when God says, all right, you've rejected me enough, I'm
- 29:04not going to do it anymore. And so that was kind of
- 29:07something that, you know, made me get serious about serving God
- 29:14and seeking God. So anyway, to free captives from
- 29:19prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in
- 29:24darkness? When I read that, I immediately
- 29:27thought about the Angel descending in Revelation with
- 29:30the keys to the abyss, and that's what came to mind.
- 29:34So I went back to blueletterbible.org and I looked
- 29:38at the sentence Isaiah 42 verse 7, because I was wondering, is
- 29:43the dungeon the abyss I mean it, or the prison the abyss?
- 29:47And it is not. So that doesn't because I was
- 29:50saying I was thinking that's a tie to Jesus potentially, but it
- 29:54is not. But what I did discover when I
- 29:57did that was that it talked about prison houses.
- 30:01It talked about people being prisoners in a house and Jesus
- 30:06comes to free captives from prison.
- 30:09Then all of a sudden I started thinking about October 7th and
- 30:13what happened and the people of Israel, when the people from
- 30:19Gaza or Hamas entered into Israel, they captured people
- 30:25from Israel and took them hostage, which there are still
- 30:28hostages in in Gaza or somewhere.
- 30:32They're still hostages that are not turned back over to Israel.
- 30:38And some of these hostages who had been released, they were
- 30:41actually prisoners in people's houses.
- 30:46So here at 700 BC, this is talking about things that really
- 30:51just happened in 2023. The, the, and, and then there
- 30:56was something else that I recalled from the Bible about
- 31:02Basra. And I want to, I want to go to
- 31:06that too, because there were these verses about Basra and it,
- 31:13it made me think actually, I'll just read a little bit longer
- 31:15because it, you'll see what I mean.
- 31:19OK, so just think about the prisoners in, in people's homes.
- 31:25And that actually happened October 7th.
- 31:28And then we'll continue on and then I'll stop and we'll start
- 31:32talking about this next part. So it says to release.
- 31:36So this is Jesus to release from the dungeon.
- 31:39Those who sit in darkness. I am the Lord, That is my name.
- 31:44So is it God revealing that? You know, Jesus is the Son of
- 31:47God and He's the one who's going to be doing this?
- 31:50I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.
- 31:55See the former things that have taken place and new things I
- 31:59declare before they spring into being, I announce them to you.
- 32:05So he's revealing. This is like the mystery
- 32:07answered. Isaiah's getting the information
- 32:10from God, and then it says sing to the Lord a new song, His
- 32:16praise from the ends of the earth.
- 32:18You go down to the sea and all that is in it, you islands and
- 32:23all who live in them. Let the wilderness and its town
- 32:27raise their voices. Let the settlements where Kedar
- 32:30lives rejoice. So I had to look up Kadar.
- 32:34Who's Kadar? He is the son of Ishmael and
- 32:37it's basically Arabia or Arabian descent.
- 32:41And and they were nomadic tribes that we're in various places.
- 32:47So this is again, this is talking about a song of praise
- 32:51to the Lord. And so the sons of the son of
- 32:55Ishmael, the Arabians will also be praising the Lord at this
- 33:00time. So you can see here, this is for
- 33:02all nations. You know, some of them will be
- 33:04enemies of Israel and some of them will be the enemies of the
- 33:07Lord, but not all of them. And so salvation is for all
- 33:12nations. And this is indicating that as
- 33:16well, because the in let the settlements where Kadar lives
- 33:21rejoice. So this is when the Lord
- 33:23returns. And we know that he returns.
- 33:27Like some of the people don't have that experience.
- 33:32They're wanting to hide in caves and be hidden from the Lord when
- 33:35he returns. Let the people of Selah sing for
- 33:38joy. Let them shout from the
- 33:40mountaintops. Again, I wanted to know where is
- 33:43Selah? Well, it's modern day Petra in
- 33:46Jordan. So again, we have the people of
- 33:49Jordan who are Muslim majority that are, I guess there's going
- 33:54to be some that some believers there and they're going to be
- 33:57singing in the same with the sons of Ishmael.
- 33:59A lot of the Ishmael descendants are Muslim.
- 34:03And so it sounds like these will both be rejoicing when the Lord
- 34:08returns, that some of them will and let them give glory to the
- 34:14Lord and proclaim his praise in the islands.
- 34:17The Lord will March out like a champion, like a warrior.
- 34:22He will stir up his zeal with a shout.
- 34:27He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.
- 34:33So when I heard about actually I'm jumping ahead a little bit.
- 34:37Let's go back to this. It's not talking about Basra,
- 34:41but when Jesus returns, I guess what came to mind was actually
- 34:48I'll just read it. There's not a whole lot of it.
- 34:53So in Isaiah chapter 63, actually it Isaiah 34, we read
- 34:59about it, the sword of the Lord is bathed in blood.
- 35:04It is covered with fat, the blood of lambs and goats, fat
- 35:09from the kidneys of Rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in
- 35:13Basra, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
- 35:18Now that land is in Jordan. Basra is in Jordan.
- 35:24It's a southern part of Jordan. And so this is something that
- 35:30has not happened yet, and this is going to be at the, you know,
- 35:36at the very end times. But there's something that
- 35:39happens with Edom, apparently. And I just wonder as we read
- 35:45also, if there are prisoners that are being held in Basra.
- 35:50And that's why when the Lord frees his prisoners, that's why
- 35:53he's going to Basra. So that's how this ties into
- 35:55Isaiah chapter 42. And so in Isaiah chapter 63 it
- 36:00says, who is this coming from? Edom, from Basra with his
- 36:05garments stained Crimson. Who is this robed in splendor,
- 36:11striding forward in the greatness of his strength.
- 36:16It is I claiming victory, mighty to save, and it says, why are
- 36:25your garments red like those of 1 treading the winepress in the
- 36:30Book of Revelation. It says Jesus treads the
- 36:33winepress. Here's the next verse in Isaiah
- 36:3663. I have trodden the winepress
- 36:39alone from the nation's. No one was with me.
- 36:44I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath.
- 36:49Their blood spattered my garments, and I stained all my
- 36:54clothing. It was for me the day of
- 36:57vengeance. The year for me to redeem had
- 37:02come. I looked, but there was no one
- 37:06to help. I was appalled that no one gave
- 37:09support, so my own arm achieved salvation for me and my own
- 37:15wrath sustained me. I trampled the nations in my
- 37:20anger, in my wrath. I made them drunk and poured
- 37:24blood on the ground. The Book of Revelation says that
- 37:28when this trampling of the winepress happens, there is like
- 37:32a lot of blood that's shed and it says it goes up to the horses
- 37:38bridles, like there's just an incredible amount.
- 37:40So anyway, that's that was something that, you know, came
- 37:50from the Basra, which I know is in Jordan.
- 37:55And so I was like, well, you know, here we have people
- 37:59singing the praise of Jesus in Petra, and the sons of Ishmael
- 38:04in Arabia are singing it, but we know in Basra that's not going
- 38:09to be the case. So it says in Jeremiah chapter
- 38:1249, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that Basra will become
- 38:19a rune and a curse, an object of horror and reproach, and all its
- 38:25towns will be in ruins forever. And then in further along, it
- 38:31says, look, an eagle will swore and swoop down will soar and
- 38:38swoop down, spreading its wings over Basra.
- 38:42In that day, the hearts of Edom's warriors will be like the
- 38:46heart of a woman in labor. So again, this this thought of
- 38:52Labor pains we're going to talk about also, but that is about
- 38:55the end times and the return of Jesus, right?
- 38:59Well before the return of Jesus. So in Amos one, verse 12, I
- 39:05don't even know if this is current our future, but I will
- 39:09send fire on Teeman that will consume the fortresses of Basra.
- 39:13So anyway, there's there's several different times.
- 39:18Oh, I wanted to read this too because it was very insightful.
- 39:23Basra and Edom. So Basra means sheepfold or
- 39:27enclosure in Hebrew, and it was a pastoral city in Edom,
- 39:32southeast of the Dead Sea. According to the biblical
- 39:36narrative it was the home city of 1 of Edoms kings Joe Bab son
- 39:41of Zira and the homeland of Jacob's twin brother Esaw.
- 39:46And these were the kings who reigned in the land of Edom
- 39:49before the reigning of a king over the sons of Israel and Bala
- 39:53died and Job Jobab the son of Zira from Basra reigned in his
- 39:58place. That's written in Genesis
- 40:00chapter 36 verses 31 through 33. The prophets Amos, Isaiah and
- 40:07Jeremiah predicted Basra's destruction.
- 40:10We just read about that so that. But I will send a fire against
- 40:15human, and it shall devour the palaces of Basra.
- 40:18And Isaiah 34 The Lord has a sacrifice in Basra, and a great,
- 40:21great slaughter in the land of Edom.
- 40:23And Jeremiah 49, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that
- 40:26Basra will become a ruin and a curse and an object of horror
- 40:29and reproach, and all its towns will be in ruins forever.
- 40:33According to Isaiah 63, the Lord will come from Eden, modern day
- 40:38Jordan and Basra in blood stained clothing on the day of
- 40:43vengeance and quote the year of my redemption.
- 40:47In Revelation chapter 29, he was clothed.
- 40:50Sorry, Revelation chapter 19 verse 13, he was clothed with a
- 40:56robe dipped in blood. So all those things kind of
- 41:02match up. And then here is more
- 41:05information. This is actually from Wikipedia,
- 41:07but it was a really good summary of everything that we just kind
- 41:10of read. So the Christian Basra of the
- 41:12end times. According to one Christian
- 41:15interpretation of Micah chapter 2, verses 12 through 13, Basra,
- 41:20or a place the Bible cryptically refers to as Basra, will also be
- 41:27the scene of a magnificent breakout of God's covenant
- 41:32people. According to this
- 41:33interpretation, the deliverance will come at an Edomite
- 41:37controlled place of exile and incarceration in the end times.
- 41:42Remember those like house prisons?
- 41:44This epic event referred to in Michael chapter 2 verses 12
- 41:49through 13 has been referred to by Doctor Gavin Finney as the
- 41:54Basra Deliverance Basra in Hebrew, but most translators
- 42:01render it as fold, sheep and fold.
- 42:03This breakout could be tied to Zechariah chapter 14 verses one
- 42:08through 5, when Yahweh fights against the nations, stands on
- 42:13the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem, and splits the Mount
- 42:17in two as a valley so that the remnant of Israel trapped in
- 42:23Jerusalem can escape those who would kill them.
- 42:27If so, Micah chapter 2, verses 12 through 13 would not relate
- 42:32to the to the locale of Basra. The notion of a remnant in
- 42:37Jerusalem fleeing through a split Mount of Olives derives
- 42:41from the Masoretic reading of Zechariah 14 verse 5.
- 42:46The Septuagint translation states in Zechariah 14 five that
- 42:52a valley will be blocked up as if it was blocked up during the
- 42:58earthquake. During King Uzziah reign, at the
- 43:02return of Jesus, there's also supposed to be a huge
- 43:04earthquake. Jewish historian Flavius
- 43:08Josephus mentions in the Antiquities of the Jews that the
- 43:11valley in the area of the Kings Garden was blocked up by a
- 43:15landslide rubble during Uziah earthquake.
- 43:18Israeli geologist Walks and Levitt identified the remnant of
- 43:24a large landslide on the Mount of Olives directly adjacent to
- 43:28this area. Based on geographical and
- 43:30linguistic evidence. Charles Clermont Gano, a 19th
- 43:35century linguist and archaeologist in Palestine,
- 43:38postulated that the valley directly adjacent to this
- 43:42landslide is Azel, the location mentioned in Zechariah chapter
- 43:4714, verse 5, to which the remnant in Jerusalem is to flee.
- 43:52Supposedly this location accords with the 70th reading of
- 43:59Zechariah 14, verse 5, which states that the valley will be
- 44:04blocked up as far as Azel. If Claremont Gano is correct,
- 44:09the notion of the people fleeing E through the Mount of Olives to
- 44:13Azel is impossible because the valley he identified, which is
- 44:19now known as Wadi Yazul in Arabic and Nahal Ezel in Hebrew,
- 44:26lies South of both Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives.
- 44:32So there's a lot more information and I'm, I won't
- 44:34read all of that, but I just, I think it's really interesting
- 44:38and important to do research on these ancient cities and, and
- 44:47tie it all together when we're studying it.
- 44:49It's very helpful to know what's going on here.
- 44:54So again, then it says, which is interesting.
- 44:58Oh gosh, I haven't yet got to this part about how this is also
- 45:03Jesus because it talks about the Lord will March out like a
- 45:07champion. This is verse 13 from Isaiah
- 45:10chapter 42. I know I'm jumping around a lot,
- 45:13but we're going back to the chapter we're reading.
- 45:16The Lord will March out like a champion, like a warrior.
- 45:18He will stir up his zeal with a S, with a shout.
- 45:22He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies.
- 45:26So in the end times it talks about Matthew chapter 24 verse
- 45:4030 and 31. Then will appear the sign of the
- 45:45Son of Man in heaven, and then all the peoples of the earth
- 45:49will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of
- 45:53heaven with power and great glory.
- 45:57And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they
- 46:03will gather his elect from the four winds from one end of the
- 46:07heavens to the other. And then in Mark chapter 13, it
- 46:13says here's this his version. But in those days following that
- 46:18distress, this is talking about the distress from the Antichrist
- 46:21or the lawless one that gets revealed.
- 46:23And then there's great this is like the great tribulation that
- 46:27happens, so it says. But in those days following that
- 46:31distress, so we do see the Antichrist, The sun will be
- 46:36darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall
- 46:39from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 46:43At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds
- 46:47with great power and glory, and He will send his angels and
- 46:50gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the
- 46:54earth to the ends of the heavens.
- 46:57Then in Luke it talks about it also in chapter 21 verses 25
- 47:03through 28, there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars on
- 47:08the earth. Nations will be in anguish and
- 47:11perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
- 47:15People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming
- 47:21on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 47:25It sounds like there's going to be some supernatural things.
- 47:27The heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 47:30That's like the fallen angels. I believe that's what it is.
- 47:34And then the Book of Revelation, it talks about the dragon who is
- 47:38Satan. His tail sweeps 1/3 of the
- 47:41stars, which is 1/3 of the fallen angels.
- 47:44That's why they're called fallen angels, because the stars are
- 47:47are symbolic of angels and they fall to the earth.
- 47:51So this Luke chapter really talks about people will faint
- 47:56from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for
- 47:59the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
- 48:02So there's something, you know, pretty supernatural coming down
- 48:06to earth at this point. It sounds like at that time they
- 48:10will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great
- 48:13glory. When these things begin to take
- 48:16place, stand up and lift up your heads because your redemption is
- 48:20drawing near. This is when God gathers.
- 48:24I mean, this is when people talk about the rapture or the
- 48:26resurrection. This is when it happens.
- 48:30So again, that's, you know, he will shout and raise the battle
- 48:36cry that when the trumpet is sounded, it's it's sometimes a a
- 48:40call to gather. If we look at the Old Testament
- 48:44and how it was done, I think I did a search on the word gather.
- 48:48Yeah, there's like there's so many references 116 times where
- 48:54it talks about the OR uses the word gather.
- 48:58And this is originally when the tribes were organized, they
- 49:03would have different trumpet sounds.
- 49:05That would be one for gathering all assembling all.
- 49:09Then there was another one like a war cry when they were going
- 49:12out to battle and even like in the the toppling of Jericho when
- 49:17amid that's very symbolic of the the end times where they go
- 49:22around the city and the 7th time they blow the trumpet, the
- 49:26police the are blowing the trumpet.
- 49:28That's when the wall falls down and it's very, it was, you know,
- 49:32a literal event that happened, but it's also very symbolic of
- 49:36Jesus returning in the whole like 7 year time frame.
- 49:41And you know the, there's a lot of symbology there about the end
- 49:46times. And so anyway, since there's 116
- 49:50different references about gathering, I don't know that I'm
- 49:54going to read all those, but that's a good study to, you
- 49:59know, really you'll see a lot where it's about the Lord
- 50:03gathering people at in the last days.
- 50:07And just go to blueletterbible.org and search
- 50:10the word gather and then you can see all of the verses that have
- 50:14that. But it's, it's worthwhile.
- 50:16And then it says for a long time we're going back to Isaiah
- 50:19chapter 42 now verse 14. For a long time I have kept
- 50:23silent. I have been quiet and held
- 50:26myself back. Well, I think about God being
- 50:28silent like for thousands of years.
- 50:31He's very patient and he's letting, he wants everybody to
- 50:35come to repentance. And so for a long time I have
- 50:39kept silent thousands of years and and I've been quiet and held
- 50:45myself back. But now, like a woman and
- 50:48childbirth, I cry out, I gasp and pant.
- 50:51I will lay waste the mountains and hills and dry up all their
- 50:56vegetations. I will turn rivers into islands
- 50:59and dry up the pools. There's a lot of things and, and
- 51:03times too that talk about I think the Euphrates River dries
- 51:07up so that the kings of the East can cross it and come over.
- 51:12And then there's also the Nile River drying up, which we are
- 51:15actually, you know, there's reports of that right now
- 51:18happening. And this is all prophesied in
- 51:22God's word. And again, this is like the
- 51:24comparison of like a woman and childbirth.
- 51:27That's another one that's really good to search because if you
- 51:31search like labor and pain, there's 19 times where it talks
- 51:36about that in Psalm 4048. Trembling sees them there, pain
- 51:43like that of a woman in labor. Isaiah 13 terror will see, sees
- 51:48them. Pain and anguish will grip them.
- 51:50They will writhe like a woman in labor.
- 51:53They will look aghast at each other and Isaiah 21 at this my
- 52:00body is wracked with pain. Pang sees me like those of a
- 52:03woman in labor. Jeremiah 6.
- 52:07We have heard reports about them are and our hands hang limp.
- 52:12Anguish has gripped us. Pain like that of a woman in
- 52:15labor. A lot of times it talks about
- 52:17hands going hanging limp about the end times too.
- 52:22And Jeremiah, Jeremiah says it quite a bit multiple verses like
- 52:28Jeremiah 13 and chapter 132249, Jeremiah 50 and then Micah.
- 52:39It also brings it up. So you'll see lots of references
- 52:43to a woman in, in labor pains and and then in One
- 52:48Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 3, while people are saying peace
- 52:53and secure peace and safety, destruction will come on them
- 52:58suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman and they will not
- 53:03escape. So this is something that a lot
- 53:05of people are warning about because they're, if you look at
- 53:09what's happening now with Trump and all these different nations,
- 53:11there's all these like people joining the a nations, I should
- 53:15say, joining the Abraham Accords.
- 53:19And there's all these peace agreements.
- 53:21And in fact, some were saying they were nominating Trump for
- 53:24the Nobel Peace Prize because of all this peace that's happening.
- 53:28So we have to keep in mind that while this all sounds great, if
- 53:32we know the Bible, in First Thessalonians chapter 5, it says
- 53:37while people are saying peace and safety, destruction will
- 53:41come on them suddenly as labor pains on a pregnant woman and
- 53:46they will not escape. So it's important to be right
- 53:50with God because the peace, it doesn't mean anything because
- 53:54Jesus said war will continue. There will be wars and rumors of
- 53:58wars all the way until the end. So we're not going to have this
- 54:02true peace until Jesus returns. Then if you look up childbirth,
- 54:09there are 6 times and it, you know, it just talks about
- 54:16childbirth, about the, the pains that come on and it's related to
- 54:21end times and, and severe pains. And so in Matthew 24, then
- 54:26there's birth pains. So if you want to look that up,
- 54:29there's only two of those that are mentioned.
- 54:31So in Matthew 24 verse 8, it says all these are the beginning
- 54:36of birth pains. So what is he talking about?
- 54:39It says Jesus answered, watch out so that no one deceives you,
- 54:44for many will come in my name, claiming I am Messiah and will
- 54:48deceive many. So that's probably the one who
- 54:50claims to be God standing in the presence of others.
- 54:54The lawless 1. You will hear of wars and rumors
- 54:58of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.
- 55:00Such things must happen. But the end is still to come.
- 55:04Nation will rise against nation and Kingdom against Kingdom.
- 55:07There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
- 55:10Well, we sure have been seeing earthquakes and there has been
- 55:14famine in various places. All these are the beginning of
- 55:19birth pains. And then it continues and it
- 55:22talks about false prophets and about, you know, the gospel
- 55:27being preached to all nations. This is Jesus talking about, and
- 55:31it says so when you see that one standing in the holy place, the
- 55:34abomination that causes desolation, spoken through the
- 55:36prophet Daniel. Let those who are in Judea flee
- 55:40to the mountains and don't take any breaks.
- 55:43And for them there will be great distress, unequaled from the
- 55:46beginning of the world until now, and never to be equaled
- 55:49again. If those days had not been cut
- 55:52short, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect,
- 55:56those days will be shortened. So that's Jesus returning.
- 56:01He will shorten those days. It says immediately after the
- 56:05distress of those days, talks about the sun and the moon and
- 56:08all that. Then will appear the Son of Man
- 56:10in heaven and all the people, and he will send, you know,
- 56:14after they see him, he's sending his angels with the trumpet
- 56:17call, and they will gather his elect.
- 56:19So that's the sequence of events.
- 56:23And then continuing on in Scripture, in Isaiah chapter 42,
- 56:31I will lead the blind by ways they have not known along
- 56:36unfamiliar paths. I will guide them.
- 56:39This is showing the mercy of God.
- 56:40I will turn darkness into light before them and make the rough
- 56:46places smooth. These are the things I will do.
- 56:49I will not forsake them, but those who trust in idols who say
- 56:55to images you are our gods will be turned back in utter shame.
- 57:01Now, you know, like today, it's kind of hard to think of what
- 57:04would be idols. Idols could be power, money,
- 57:08wealth, self-sufficiency, those kinds of things.
- 57:11Those who trust in idols but who say to images you are our gods.
- 57:17There's been sometimes where people were talking about AI
- 57:20kind of like being like a God, like it's, you know, the, the
- 57:23resource that everybody's going to.
- 57:25As it gets more and more developed and more
- 57:28sophisticated, people start relying on it for all their
- 57:32answers rather than God. So it's, you know, we're, if we
- 57:36do that, we are treating this thing like a God, like go to God
- 57:40with those questions, don't go to AI.
- 57:43But that's something in modern days that we can we can look at
- 57:47like that could definitely be this image that's being talked
- 57:51about. And then in verse 18 it says
- 57:54here you deaf look you blind and see who is blind but my servant
- 57:59and deaf like the messenger I send.
- 58:01So this is talking about Israel who is blind like the one in
- 58:05covenant with me. So the one in covenant with God
- 58:09is Israel blind like like the servant of the Lord.
- 58:14So it isn't the servant of the Lord, but blind.
- 58:17You have seen many things, but you pay no attention.
- 58:21You're your ears are open, but you do not listen it.
- 58:25It pleased the Lord for the sake of his righteousness to make his
- 58:29law great and glorious. But this is a people plundered
- 58:33and looted, all of them trapped in pits or hidden away in
- 58:38prisons. And in the new King James
- 58:40Version it says prison houses. And so again that made me think
- 58:44of October 7th, 2023. They have become plunder with no
- 58:50one to rescue them. They have been made loot with no
- 58:54one to say send them back. Which of you will listen to this
- 58:59or pay close attention in time to come?
- 59:03So this is talking about a future event right here.
- 59:06And this was in 700 BC. Who handed Jacob over to become
- 59:11loot and Israel to the plunderers?
- 59:14Was it not the Lord against whom we had sinned?
- 59:20For they would not follow his ways.
- 59:23They did not obey his law. So he poured out on them His
- 59:27burning anger, the violence of war.
- 59:30If people ever wonder why Israel is in all these wars, it's
- 59:35because of disobedience to God. That's what the Bible tells us.
- 59:41It enveloped them in flames, yet they did not understand.
- 59:46It consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.
- 59:49And that's the end of chapter 42.
- 59:52So there is a lot that we covered and I think that was all
- 59:58of the references. That we have, so I will read
- 1:00:03through the the remaining questions and answers from the
- 1:00:07study Bible, which gives a different perspective.
- 1:00:09But to me it seems very clear that this whole chapter is about
- 1:00:13Jesus. So in what way would the Gent
- 1:00:18would the servant be a light? To the Gentiles, the Lord's
- 1:00:22servant is the Messiah Israel. In its ideal form, He would
- 1:00:27welcome not only Jews but also Gentiles into the family of God.
- 1:00:31Jesus Christ, who died for the sin of all humanity, fulfilled
- 1:00:34God's purpose of reaching out to the whole world through His
- 1:00:37chosen people and through His promised Messiah.
- 1:00:40Why is it a good idea to free prisoners?
- 1:00:43In the more immediate future, Isaiah was looking to his
- 1:00:46people's release from captivity in Babylon.
- 1:00:49Once again, though, we see that God's role for his people
- 1:00:52remained largely unfulfilled until the perfect work of
- 1:00:55Christ. The release from exile could
- 1:00:58only presage the release of all peoples from the bondage of sin
- 1:01:03and ignorance. God frees from the imprisonment
- 1:01:06of sin everyone who believes in His Son.
- 1:01:10What were kedar and Selah? Kedar was the home of nomadic
- 1:01:13tribes that settled in the Arabian desert.
- 1:01:15Selah probably referred to the capital of Edom, later known as
- 1:01:19Petra, set on the towering plateau South of the Dead Sea.
- 1:01:23Isaiah gives us topography lesson.
- 1:01:25Deserts, Kedar and the mountains.
- 1:01:27Selah will welcome the victorious Lord.
- 1:01:31And then why was God silent for so long?
- 1:01:34The Lord stood by, his stood by as his people went into
- 1:01:38captivity. Perhaps he felt the tension of a
- 1:01:40parent who must punish A beloved child.
- 1:01:43After a period of silence, God's inaction, he would again express
- 1:01:48himself mightily, crying out in judgement against Babylon and
- 1:01:51causing a miraculous restoration of his people.
- 1:01:55So again, that could be a foreshadowing.
- 1:01:57But I also think this is like end times related.
- 1:02:00So what made the Lord's servant blind?
- 1:02:02The servant in this context was Israel as a nation and the blind
- 1:02:06blindness was their willful resistance to see and believe
- 1:02:10the truth. God had earlier predicted the
- 1:02:13blindness and deafness of the people in chapter 6, verses 9
- 1:02:17through 10. These verses expressed not only
- 1:02:19God's frustration but also His determination to turn the
- 1:02:24darkness into light. How was Israel plundered and
- 1:02:28looted? The Assyrians overran the
- 1:02:30northern Kingdom of Israel in 722, deporting its people.
- 1:02:33The Babylonians raided the southern Kingdom of Judah in a
- 1:02:37series of invasions from 6:05 to 586 BC, looting and taking
- 1:02:42prisoners each time. In 586 BC, the Babylonians
- 1:02:46destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple and took the people of
- 1:02:50Judah into exile. Thus, the nation of Israel was
- 1:02:54not only looted, but the people themselves were made loot, being
- 1:02:58taken by force from their homeland.
- 1:03:00And then again we had October 7th, 2023.
- 1:03:04Did the people of Israel heed Isaiah's warnings?
- 1:03:07History reveals that Israel ignored Isaiah.
- 1:03:11The northern Kingdom of Israel was sent into Assyrian exile in
- 1:03:14722 BC, and the southern Kingdom of Judah went into Babylonian
- 1:03:18exile in 586 BC. Isaiah's contemporaries, the
- 1:03:22prophets Amos, Hosea, and Micah, were similarly ignored.
- 1:03:27So again, this will even be ignored.
- 1:03:30I don't know if anybody who would be Jewish would even
- 1:03:32listen to this podcast, but this would be like another one where
- 1:03:36if if in time they could turn and really explorers like seek
- 1:03:42God. God says if you seek me, you
- 1:03:44will find me. And to just pray to God that
- 1:03:48Jesus be revealed like who he is and eyes be opened.
- 1:03:54And if that is the person's will, it will be done because
- 1:03:57there are Jewish people, there are Messianic Jews, there are
- 1:04:01Jewish people who believe in Jesus as the Messiah.
- 1:04:05So some people's eyes have been opened.
- 1:04:08It's not everybody who's Jewish. And it's none of our jobs to
- 1:04:12force anyone but God does that work.
- 1:04:15So if people seek him, then he will be found.
- 1:04:20So if the Jewish people will ask God to reveal the truth because
- 1:04:27Jesus said he is the way the truth and the life and no one
- 1:04:30comes to the the Father except through him.
- 1:04:33So if if they will willfully do that, God will honor that and
- 1:04:40and they will be able to be to escape some of this of what is
- 1:04:45coming. What is written in prophecy that
- 1:04:47will definitely happen in the land of Israel.
- 1:04:50I mean, there's very, there's a lot of description about what's
- 1:04:53going to happen in Israel and coming on the whole earth.
- 1:04:57The whole earth is going to go through this, this trial, this,
- 1:05:02I guess trial testing period, judgment period.
- 1:05:06And it's a very important time to not delay in seeking God at
- 1:05:16this time. Get your life right with God.
- 1:05:18The main thing is knowing Jesus and also letting him be your
- 1:05:26Lord, which means we have to change our ways.
- 1:05:29We have to repent, we have to ask for forgiveness and then
- 1:05:31change our lives and asking for the Holy Spirit because God
- 1:05:35gives us the Holy Spirit so that we can live it out.
- 1:05:38So hopefully you'll come back for chapter 43.
- 1:05:41Another interesting, I just noticed the title.
- 1:05:43It says Israel's only savior. So we'll be talking about Jesus
- 1:05:47again.
