- 0:21Speaker 1: you gotta work.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Welcome to Let's Talk with Carl Lee. Let's Talk is
- 0:26Speaker 2: probably presented by Attorney Frank Walker, Real Talk, Real experience,
- 0:30Speaker 2: Real results, Frank Walker Law dot Com. Let that conversation
- 0:34Speaker 2: begin on Let's Talk.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Hello, ladies and gentlemen. This is Carl Lee with Let's Talk.
- 0:40Speaker 3: And I have Hollis Lewis in the studio and uh
- 0:44Speaker 3: Lisa ode by phone. How are you doing, miss Odi?
- 0:49Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I'm a Safari. Don't tell anybody.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Well, yeah, you left us in this with all this
- 0:53Speaker 3: ice and snow. We're melting a little bit, but you're
- 0:55Speaker 3: in the sunshine. Yeah, that's that's really unfair.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, well it's kind of just see the sun is
- 1:01Speaker 4: out down here, but it's not much warmer. But really
- 1:05Speaker 4: so anyway, but hey, how are you guys doing this
- 1:08Speaker 4: post Super Bowl Monday?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Well, I'll be I'll be honest, it's it's it's a
- 1:14Speaker 3: normal day for me. I didn't have I really didn't
- 1:17Speaker 3: have any vested interest in whoever won or whoever lost.
- 1:21Speaker 3: So I'm actually good Collins. I don't know if you
- 1:25Speaker 3: had a no, I thought it was a I mean,
- 1:27Speaker 3: it was a decent game.
- 1:29Speaker 5: It wasn't like that.
- 1:30Speaker 3: It's definitely not the best super Bowl, but I think
- 1:32Speaker 3: it was some good stories just like so, well, Lisa,
- 1:35Speaker 3: what did you think about the game overall?
- 1:38Speaker 4: I mean it was kind of like the storyline that
- 1:41Speaker 4: we predicted on our last podcast. It was defensive battle. Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 4: and Seattle won it. I mean they just dominated the
- 1:48Speaker 4: paths and you know, I know, for for people that
- 1:52Speaker 4: really don't understand, you know, offense and defense in football,
- 1:56Speaker 4: it was kind of boring. You know, there wasn't a
- 1:58Speaker 4: whole lot of a lot of path and but that
- 2:01Speaker 4: you know, the Seahawks, the way they man handled the Patriots.
- 2:04Speaker 4: If you're if you're a defensive you know fan, you
- 2:07Speaker 4: enjoyed that.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Game and to that point, you know, just for the
- 2:13Speaker 3: amount and time and looking even going into looking at
- 2:17Speaker 3: the stats, when you look at that like, I mean,
- 2:22Speaker 3: that's a great play, that's a game that was played great.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, you know, I know that
- 2:28Speaker 3: everybody likes you know, quarterback though for five hundred yards,
- 2:32Speaker 3: four touchdowns, all that kind of stuff. But man, you
- 2:35Speaker 3: know when you start when you when you have a
- 2:37Speaker 3: defense that is like literally shutting you down. I mean,
- 2:42Speaker 3: that's that's that's that's especially that's the old adage, right,
- 2:46Speaker 3: defense wins championships. I mean the Seattle Seahawks had six sacks.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I mean, when you like, that's crazy, and that's what
- 2:54Speaker 3: I don't like about. You know, that's kind of the
- 2:57Speaker 3: one of the things I don't like about. You know,
- 3:00Speaker 3: when we talk about MVPs and stuff like that, generally
- 3:02Speaker 3: it just goes to whoever had the best offensive performance.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And Kennith Walker is a running back. I mean he
- 3:07Speaker 3: had a great day. I mean, you rushed for one
- 3:08Speaker 3: hundred and thirty five yards. He didn't score, he had
- 3:11Speaker 3: a big long, a thirty yard run. But to me,
- 3:13Speaker 3: definitely the MVP of the game was the Seattle se
- 3:17Speaker 3: defensive line. I mean they had fumble recoveries. I think
- 3:19Speaker 3: there was one fumble for the touchdown, and you had
- 3:22Speaker 3: six sacks in addition to whatever tackles you may have had,
- 3:25Speaker 3: So they really just were the standout of the game.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm going to add to your sat with
- 3:30Speaker 4: the six sacks tallis they forced three turnovers?
- 3:35Speaker 5: Wow?
- 3:36Speaker 4: They also forty eight percent of the time the offensive
- 3:40Speaker 4: front put pressure on May. So overall there are pressure
- 3:45Speaker 4: rating will And it was the highest since twenty eighteen
- 3:49Speaker 4: Super Bowl. And I don't recall the teams in that one,
- 3:51Speaker 4: but fifty two point eight percent pressure rating. So I
- 3:55Speaker 4: mean they just dominated. I mean it it was a
- 3:58Speaker 4: thing of beauty if you know, you like defense well.
- 4:02Speaker 3: And and I think for the people who had nothing,
- 4:04Speaker 3: you know, no no vested interest in it, I think
- 4:07Speaker 3: it's hard for them to necessarily pick that out and say, Okay,
- 4:14Speaker 3: that's what's gonna make the game. And I think when
- 4:17Speaker 3: we when you get too Super Bowls, you get to playoffs,
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think the hardest thing for people to understand is
- 4:24Speaker 3: the talent of that game, of those games, those types
- 4:28Speaker 3: of games on both sides that you're just not gonna
- 4:32Speaker 3: you know, there's not gonna be I mean, it's it's
- 4:34Speaker 3: a it's a it's a stretch when you get a
- 4:37Speaker 3: complete blowout, you know, because both of those teams have
- 4:44Speaker 3: tons of talented players playing on both sides of the
- 4:47Speaker 3: ball and special team and I think to your point
- 4:50Speaker 3: when you talk about that concentration of talent. It's it's
- 4:54Speaker 3: easy when it's the receivers, dbs and things of that nature.
- 4:57Speaker 3: But when that concentrated talent is offensive and defensive line,
- 5:01Speaker 3: particularly defensive line, and you can really show up in
- 5:05Speaker 3: a way like that, that may be something that the
- 5:08Speaker 3: average fan can't necessarily grasp and it but to your point,
- 5:11Speaker 3: I mean, just the pure domination. And like we've said before,
- 5:15Speaker 3: defense truly wins championships, and it was that way. I
- 5:18Speaker 3: mean because even the Patriots, their defense was pretty solid.
- 5:21Speaker 3: They didn't they didn't have a bad game per se, right,
- 5:25Speaker 3: because you did have that one defensive touchdown from the
- 5:27Speaker 3: from the Seahawks, so they they the Patriots had a
- 5:30Speaker 3: pretty solid game. Is just offensively, they just couldn't move
- 5:33Speaker 3: the ball. Yeah, and and and I'm glad that you
- 5:35Speaker 3: said that, because both teams really did play well.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that's what I'm saying you Yeah, yeah, and and.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And you know, I've I've read some some folks have
- 5:46Speaker 3: talked about, you know, whether or not it was boring.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I think that was one of the questions that that
- 5:51Speaker 3: that showed up on my on my feed, like did
- 5:54Speaker 3: anybody think that the game.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Was boring from what from from from from what.
- 5:59Speaker 3: I got, and and even going in researching, looking at
- 6:04Speaker 3: the stats and looking at this place that you know, I'm.
- 6:08Speaker 5: Like, how do you how do you find that boring?
- 6:13Speaker 3: That's two teams that are just good and and you're.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Supposed to take the best two teams.
- 6:18Speaker 3: You you're hoping the best two teams are in the
- 6:21Speaker 3: Super Bowl playing, and I think we got that.
- 6:25Speaker 4: I think what they found boring was those five field goals.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know that.
- 6:32Speaker 4: That's in thirded and it was like, I think they
- 6:35Speaker 4: were up at one point, what twelve and nothing and
- 6:37Speaker 4: it was all field all yeah. And so when you
- 6:41Speaker 4: look at that SAT that isn't exactly setting the world
- 6:44Speaker 4: on fire as far as offense goes. I mean, it
- 6:46Speaker 4: kind of picked up in the second half with those teams,
- 6:49Speaker 4: but but I was shocked, guys. And I mean I
- 6:53Speaker 4: think that the running back, you know, Kenneth Walker, the
- 6:56Speaker 4: third was well, he was deserving. But to me, Jason Myers, uh,
- 7:01Speaker 4: you know, the kicker for the Seahawks.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Okay, I'm with you, about to start some mess. I
- 7:08Speaker 3: am with you, you about to start some mess.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I know that I love it. I love it. Seriously,
- 7:16Speaker 4: I'm too mad. Like I got up this morning and
- 7:18Speaker 4: I think I posted something on social media about the
- 7:21Speaker 4: guy set a record, So you thought.
- 7:24Speaker 5: He should have got the NFL. I mean, give me
- 7:25Speaker 5: the Super Bowl MVP.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I did too, you didn't think so, I see defensive line,
- 7:32Speaker 3: I would give it to that un and I'm okay,
- 7:35Speaker 3: I'm actually okay, I could give that.
- 7:39Speaker 5: But if you're going to look.
- 7:40Speaker 3: At an individual player, individual player, he's the guy. There's
- 7:46Speaker 3: I mean, there's like no way he does it. He's
- 7:49Speaker 3: not on somebody's mind. And I don't think anybody thought
- 7:52Speaker 3: of him at any given time because he's a kicker.
- 7:57Speaker 3: So what did you say, Lisa?
- 7:58Speaker 4: Well, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. I'm just
- 8:01Speaker 4: so passionate about this. I really felt like he was
- 8:04Speaker 4: a lock in because you know, watching the game and
- 8:07Speaker 4: there up twelve to nothing and he scored all the points.
- 8:10Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, all right, let me look this up
- 8:12Speaker 4: because I wondered if there's been another kicker in past
- 8:16Speaker 4: Super Bowls that has been named MVP, and it's never happened.
- 8:21Speaker 4: He kicker that's ever won a prestigious award, And I
- 8:25Speaker 4: had to go back to I think it was like
- 8:27Speaker 4: eighty two and it was a former Washington kicker, Mark Moseley.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Hm, I remember that that person.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he won the NFL MVP. But that was
- 8:38Speaker 4: a striking reason. There was only like games, but he
- 8:42Speaker 4: made twenty twenty one field goals in those nine games,
- 8:45Speaker 4: and so for some reason, you know, they awarded him that.
- 8:48Speaker 4: But I was in a classmized. I was like, Okay,
- 8:49Speaker 4: this is going to be this is going to be
- 8:51Speaker 4: the super Bowl that they finally named a special teams
- 8:55Speaker 4: a kicker to MVP, because I really felt like if
- 8:58Speaker 4: he hadn't kicked, I know that. The argument that I've
- 9:02Speaker 4: read also is none of the field goals were lost.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I mean, they weren't in a spectacular at fifty plus
- 9:08Speaker 4: yard field goals, and I think the longest one he
- 9:11Speaker 4: made last night was like forty one.
- 9:13Speaker 5: So let me ask you this.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Let's say he like he makes three field goals within
- 9:17Speaker 3: the range that he did, and let's say he has
- 9:20Speaker 3: a fifty yarder and let's just say he had like
- 9:22Speaker 3: a sixty yardist. So let's say you can take whatever
- 9:25Speaker 3: three you want from what he actually made. Let's say
- 9:27Speaker 3: he had a fifty yard and let's say he had
- 9:29Speaker 3: like a sixty yarderst do you think he gets the
- 9:32Speaker 3: MVP in that situation if the kid but he had
- 9:35Speaker 3: like two kicks that were just long.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
- 9:39Speaker 3: And it's a shame that we don't know. And I'm
- 9:40Speaker 3: going to say no, you're gonna say no. I'm going
- 9:42Speaker 3: to say no. I don't think even at that I
- 9:45Speaker 3: don't think that would have been Yes, yes, that's the word.
- 9:50Speaker 3: But it kind of leads to it. Maybe we will
- 9:53Speaker 3: go here in a second, but it leads to like
- 9:55Speaker 3: even the Hall of Fame voting and how like our
- 9:59Speaker 3: perception of things just maybe off because to your point least,
- 10:02Speaker 3: I mean, when you scored the first points of the game,
- 10:06Speaker 3: that actually set Seattle Seahawks up and it gave them
- 10:10Speaker 3: the space that they needed to they offense got rolling. Yes,
- 10:14Speaker 3: So I mean, and he set a record. So whether
- 10:17Speaker 3: you like it or not, it don't matter if they
- 10:18Speaker 3: was chip shots. He set a record, and he set
- 10:21Speaker 3: the team up a success, and he heard his job perfectly.
- 10:23Speaker 3: And you're talking what sixty super bowls, the first time
- 10:28Speaker 3: in sixty major super Bowl games, this is the only
- 10:34Speaker 3: person who did that who did that. Yeah, I mean, Lisa,
- 10:37Speaker 3: you got a point. You got to play.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I get it. I mean, you know, like I said,
- 10:43Speaker 4: the running back is the more respective position. And the defense,
- 10:48Speaker 4: of course, you know, the defense was spectacular. They could
- 10:51Speaker 4: have named Amos Senni player off the defensive line and
- 10:53Speaker 4: I've been good with it. But to set that record
- 10:56Speaker 4: in Super Bowl sixty and not get the recognition that
- 10:59Speaker 4: you really deserve because if he misses those kicks, I mean,
- 11:03Speaker 4: you know, the game could have been totally different.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a different game.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Well, like again, so I just want to pat myself
- 11:12Speaker 3: on the back. I want to give myself acknowledgment and
- 11:16Speaker 3: encouragement because I think I said last year, you don't
- 11:20Speaker 3: trade a quarterback who was fourteen and three and took
- 11:23Speaker 3: it to the playoffs. And what I want to say
- 11:27Speaker 3: is that looking back at Minnesota this year, they have
- 11:31Speaker 3: a similar setup to Seattle as far as just you
- 11:34Speaker 3: don't have a big superstars everywhere, but you got it.
- 11:38Speaker 3: You had a solid unit. You were missing some pieces,
- 11:41Speaker 3: but you had a solid unit. And I think the
- 11:44Speaker 3: point I really want to make is that I think
- 11:46Speaker 3: we're seeing now because none of it and like I said,
- 11:49Speaker 3: these quarterbacks, they weren't great, right, These aren't great quarterbacks.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I think we've been spoiled with the with the Brady
- 11:56Speaker 3: and Mahomes. You gotta have that great quarterback. Well, I
- 11:59Speaker 3: think what teams are going to learn fast is that
- 12:02Speaker 3: if you build a team with solid defense, with solid
- 12:07Speaker 3: offensive players, particularly offensive players who who can work together,
- 12:12Speaker 3: you don't have the egos offensively who could just who's
- 12:15Speaker 3: just gonna do those those hardworking blue collar guys who
- 12:18Speaker 3: are gonna do their job to the maximum, And you
- 12:21Speaker 3: could place a quarterback who just doesn't make the big
- 12:24Speaker 3: mistake and and and makes the play when he needs
- 12:27Speaker 3: to make it. Because I think that's all it was.
- 12:29Speaker 3: He didn't make he didn't he had he had no
- 12:31Speaker 3: interceptions this game, and he threw the touchdown when he
- 12:33Speaker 3: needed to throw it. He just I mean, if you
- 12:36Speaker 3: look at the game, I mean, and again not to
- 12:37Speaker 3: lessen and he makes some good plays all over, but
- 12:40Speaker 3: he did those two things. He made the play when
- 12:43Speaker 3: he needed to make the play, and he didn't make
- 12:45Speaker 3: the mistake.
- 12:45Speaker 5: And that was it.
- 12:46Speaker 3: And what you're saying is he he he's not the
- 12:49Speaker 3: expectation that the newscasters and people had for him wasn't
- 12:54Speaker 3: what you would think Tom Brady might have. Yeah, but
- 12:58Speaker 3: I'm saying, like I think the quarterback position sometimes it's
- 13:01Speaker 3: just the point guard. It's the point guard that's gonna
- 13:04Speaker 3: get you ten assists, gonna get you a couple steals,
- 13:07Speaker 3: and gonna get you maybe eight to ten points. But
- 13:10Speaker 3: he's gonna run the team to the max. He's gonna
- 13:13Speaker 3: make sure everybody's in position. And I think we have
- 13:16Speaker 3: to start looking at the quarterback position like that, like
- 13:18Speaker 3: you don't always got to be the superstar.
- 13:20Speaker 5: And I think that's that's a valid point to Hollis.
- 13:24Speaker 3: And if you can find that quarterback, and I'm gonna
- 13:29Speaker 3: I'm gonna put a title on him.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Just as a leader. I like that. I like he's
- 13:34Speaker 5: just a lighter.
- 13:35Speaker 3: He's not trying to be Tom Brady. He doesn't need
- 13:39Speaker 3: to be Tom Brady. He just wants to be the leader.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And he's gonna lead the team by example. He's gonna
- 13:47Speaker 3: work hard in practice, he's gonna show up at the games.
- 13:50Speaker 3: He's gonna when he has something bad, he's gonna turn
- 13:52Speaker 3: around and try to make up for it. I think
- 13:55Speaker 3: when you have that guy, I don't care what really
- 13:59Speaker 3: what position.
- 14:00Speaker 5: But I think what we're talking about is different. Quarterback
- 14:03Speaker 5: is different.
- 14:04Speaker 3: You typically want to have that superstar I think everybody
- 14:07Speaker 3: wants to superstar quarterback. But I think when you when
- 14:10Speaker 3: you started looking at a guy who's just in it
- 14:13Speaker 3: to win it, to be part of a team, I
- 14:16Speaker 3: think that guy can take You can just about take
- 14:20Speaker 3: almost any team that has some talent around it, some
- 14:25Speaker 3: pieces to it, to an opportunity to get to it
- 14:28Speaker 3: and I or at least play off. And I like
- 14:30Speaker 3: how you said that because I like you, because I
- 14:33Speaker 3: thought you were going to say game manager.
- 14:35Speaker 5: But I like that. Just the leader, just the leader,
- 14:38Speaker 5: just a leader out there, bro, You just a leader
- 14:40Speaker 5: doing your job.
- 14:42Speaker 4: And to be honest, I think Drake May was a
- 14:44Speaker 4: little star struck. He's young.
- 14:45Speaker 5: I can see, yes, twenty three left.
- 14:47Speaker 4: It between the two quarterbacks was completely obvious. I think
- 14:53Speaker 4: that when you look at both plays, they're both above
- 14:56Speaker 4: average quarterbacks. I agree with you, both they're not star
- 15:01Speaker 4: you know. Of course I was arguing with some people, well,
- 15:03Speaker 4: actually Jerry about Drake May. So oh he'll be back
- 15:06Speaker 4: in the super Bowl. I don't know. I think both
- 15:08Speaker 4: of these two quarterbacks got where they are not because
- 15:11Speaker 4: of their play necessarily, but the play of the whole
- 15:14Speaker 4: team in general senses that they have. I think that
- 15:18Speaker 4: these two teams, they could interchange another quarterback with the
- 15:22Speaker 4: same talent level and they're still going to get where
- 15:24Speaker 4: they're going just because they have all the pieces in
- 15:26Speaker 4: place besides quarterbacks. Does that make sense?
- 15:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see where you're going with that.
- 15:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 3: And I'll add to that, Lisa, because I think, if
- 15:36Speaker 3: I'm hearing you correct, you're saying that that the quarterbacks
- 15:42Speaker 3: on both of those teams are good, good quarterbacks, they're
- 15:46Speaker 3: not great.
- 15:47Speaker 5: And if you added if.
- 15:49Speaker 3: They were to leave, and you could bring in another
- 15:52Speaker 3: quarterback no matter who and where necessarily he you know,
- 15:57Speaker 3: he's a former player, he's active in on a team
- 16:00Speaker 3: somewhere and you bring him in and he's played before
- 16:04Speaker 3: you put him in there, and he has that leadership ability.
- 16:08Speaker 3: You think the teams could go back.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, you can go back to the super Bowl with
- 16:12Speaker 4: a different quarterback with about the same talent level. They don't.
- 16:16Speaker 5: They've proved they don't need Tom Brady.
- 16:18Speaker 4: They don't need a Tom Brady, they don't need you know,
- 16:21Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes. They just need like you said, a solid
- 16:25Speaker 4: leader because all the other pieces that they have in
- 16:27Speaker 4: place got them there, the team there.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Here's why I would slightly disagree with that, because I
- 16:34Speaker 3: think the thing that Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes do
- 16:38Speaker 3: for you, they are gonna they they have because their
- 16:42Speaker 3: talent level is so high and great. I think they
- 16:44Speaker 3: have the ability to do it over over, over and
- 16:48Speaker 3: over and over again, season after season. I think the
- 16:51Speaker 3: issue with like Drake may or maybe even a Sam
- 16:55Speaker 3: donelld is that not to say it's a one shot deal,
- 16:58Speaker 3: but it could be sort of like the Hurts, where
- 17:00Speaker 3: you're gonna be up and down. You can be good
- 17:02Speaker 3: one year, kind of mediocre the next year, where a
- 17:05Speaker 3: guy like Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes is going to
- 17:08Speaker 3: keep the level so high that you're consistently gonna be
- 17:12Speaker 3: at least a conference championship or better or you know
- 17:15Speaker 3: what I mean. So I think that's that's slightly where
- 17:18Speaker 3: I would disagree at because I think it is important
- 17:20Speaker 3: because there's gonna be I think next year they'll they'll
- 17:23Speaker 3: start to figure some things out about both of these quarterbacks,
- 17:26Speaker 3: and you know it's gonna be We're gonna see, are
- 17:29Speaker 3: they gonna raise their level again, gonna see them, They're
- 17:34Speaker 3: gonna watch them and tigre some stuff out. We can
- 17:38Speaker 3: put pressure on him and we hit him a few times,
- 17:40Speaker 3: he gets a little on Or it could be a
- 17:42Speaker 3: situation in which, because you have such a particular like
- 17:45Speaker 3: the Seahawks, you have such a dynamic unit that if
- 17:48Speaker 3: one of the one or two of those guys want
- 17:50Speaker 3: to go and get paid and then they're on the ox.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Now I shouldn't say it like that, but they're on
- 17:54Speaker 3: the trading block, then that could sort of mess up
- 17:57Speaker 3: the continuity team. So may it may not even be quarterback. Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 3: it may not even be a quarterback issue, because I
- 18:03Speaker 3: think that's where the Patriots that and I'm talking about
- 18:06Speaker 3: the Tom Brady Bill Belichick pictures. That's where they were
- 18:09Speaker 3: so brilliant, brilliant because they could plug and play guys
- 18:12Speaker 3: so that that guy could go, that the essential piece
- 18:15Speaker 3: could go get a contract, get paid, and they can
- 18:18Speaker 3: bring somebody else in and they would maintain the same level.
- 18:21Speaker 5: Unlike the Vikings when we sent.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Away and bring one in and think that one's gonna supplement.
- 18:31Speaker 3: But and think about this with I'll let you go.
- 18:33Speaker 3: I'm sorry, listen, but it's my last point. But think
- 18:36Speaker 3: about Sam donald bro he played for the Jets, he
- 18:42Speaker 3: played for the Panthers, like he played for the bottom
- 18:47Speaker 3: of the bottom teams in the NFL. Everything that he
- 18:51Speaker 3: went through, all the strife, all the adversity. Man, I'm
- 18:54Speaker 3: telling you that says more about him as forget a
- 18:58Speaker 3: football player, a man to go through all that to
- 19:01Speaker 3: go sit on the bench for the forty nine ers.
- 19:03Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Just go to those terrible franchises and then you go
- 19:07Speaker 3: to Minnesota. You're fourteen to three, you're in the playoffs,
- 19:10Speaker 3: you feel like you made it. You get bounced in
- 19:12Speaker 3: the first round. Then the next thing you know, you
- 19:14Speaker 3: don't even have a chance to build. Then you're out
- 19:17Speaker 3: of there, and then you got to go to your
- 19:18Speaker 3: like this journeyman quarterback. Then you're going to see Seattle.
- 19:21Speaker 3: You're going to replace Geno Smith, who has Geno Smith
- 19:24Speaker 3: has some great.
- 19:25Speaker 5: Years in Seattle.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, statistically he has some great years. And now you
- 19:29Speaker 3: win a Super Bowl. Man that dude's mind frame. Man,
- 19:33Speaker 3: I got a lot of respect for him. Well to
- 19:35Speaker 3: me what that is And I tell people this a ton.
- 19:40Speaker 3: The one thing about playing in the NFL. If you're
- 19:45Speaker 3: questioning yourself, I don't care if you get cut your
- 19:49Speaker 3: back up, whatever the case is.
- 19:50Speaker 5: If you're questioning yourself and doubting that.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I can't beat you out or I can't beat somebody
- 19:55Speaker 3: out to get in the lineup.
- 19:57Speaker 5: You don't belong that. Wow, that's good.
- 20:00Speaker 3: You You just you're you don't belong there because there's nobody.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Everybody sitting on that bench is thinking that there's somebody
- 20:08Speaker 3: in the starting lineup at the position that I'm playing.
- 20:12Speaker 3: So for me, I'm thinking, I'm I'm thinking, let's say
- 20:16Speaker 3: I was on that team. I'm I'm I'm on the
- 20:18Speaker 3: team we win the Super Bowl. I'm not a starter.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I'm looking at that corner and thinking, Okay, I got
- 20:25Speaker 3: to get him next.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Next, next, next, next season.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I gotta go get him, because you can't say I'm
- 20:33Speaker 3: okay sitting behind him, you know, and if he if
- 20:37Speaker 3: there's one side that's really, really good, I'm moving to
- 20:40Speaker 3: the other side and then trying to get over there.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I gotta go get somebody. I don't want him.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I don't want to celebrate the Super Bowl on the
- 20:47Speaker 3: sideline like yeah, So Lisa, let me let me ask
- 20:51Speaker 3: you this, So we talked about the Patriots and and
- 20:54Speaker 3: probably the biggest football story outside of the Super Bowl
- 20:57Speaker 3: and outside of you know, the halftime show was the
- 21:00Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. Now, now you had guys like Randy Moss,
- 21:05Speaker 3: Tarrell Owens, Deon Sanders. Basically they all alluded to the
- 21:10Speaker 3: same thing. They're they're there. Their opinion is that writers
- 21:17Speaker 3: ought to be taken off the voters to be Hall
- 21:19Speaker 3: of Fame Hall of famers should be voted on by
- 21:22Speaker 3: other Hall of famers, or at least guys who played
- 21:26Speaker 3: the game. So, Lisa, what are your thoughts on that
- 21:29Speaker 3: and this? And this has to do with Robert Craft
- 21:31Speaker 3: and Bill Belichick not getting.
- 21:33Speaker 5: In the Hall of Fame.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, And you know I'm kind of leaning that way.
- 21:39Speaker 5: You're kind of leaning well, I mean.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Let me finish my finish first of all, learning things
- 21:48Speaker 4: about this whole whole Hall of Fame. You know, how
- 21:50Speaker 4: how people get inducted. It's a fifty member committee, which
- 21:54Speaker 4: I didn't realize it was that many of them, And
- 21:56Speaker 4: like you said, writers and you know that they're involved.
- 22:00Speaker 4: So I do like the idea of just having peers
- 22:03Speaker 4: that have already been inducted into being a part of that,
- 22:08Speaker 4: but they're also going to remedy some things. I don't
- 22:10Speaker 4: know if you guys you may have seen this educate
- 22:13Speaker 4: us in yeah, yeah, yeah. So first of all, I
- 22:17Speaker 4: didn't realize this when they've been doing their meetings, when
- 22:20Speaker 4: when they're deciding their Hall of Fame, you know, people
- 22:24Speaker 4: to go in their inductees. They have they've been doing
- 22:27Speaker 4: these meetings virtually since twenty twenty. So they decided that
- 22:31Speaker 4: they're going to abandon that model and they're going to
- 22:34Speaker 4: go back to face to face to improve accountability. I
- 22:38Speaker 4: think it's easier to you know, talk to somebody. It's
- 22:42Speaker 4: just like the internets. You got you know, keyboard ninjas.
- 22:44Speaker 4: If you're in a room with somebody, you're going to
- 22:46Speaker 4: be more honest and a little more I don't know,
- 22:50Speaker 4: less defensive when you're face to face. So they're going
- 22:54Speaker 4: to do that. They're also going to move the vote
- 22:57Speaker 4: closer to the NFL Honors ceremony because they want to
- 23:00Speaker 4: prevent leaks this you know, all this all this coming
- 23:03Speaker 4: out about Bill, Bill Belichick and Craft not getting in there.
- 23:06Speaker 4: They don't they don't want that controversy. They want to
- 23:09Speaker 4: move it closer. And then you know, do the ceremony
- 23:11Speaker 4: and move on. And they're also this, you'll like this, Hollis,
- 23:15Speaker 4: You'll like this a lot because you were on the
- 23:17Speaker 4: sandwagon last week. Uh. They're considering releasing individual ballots, those totals,
- 23:24Speaker 4: and they want to promotecy. So those are some things
- 23:27Speaker 4: that they want to do to improve the process and
- 23:29Speaker 4: make sure the right people are getting on.
- 23:31Speaker 5: The bout Let me. Let me ask you this, Lisa.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Now, one of the things that Tarrell Owen said, Now,
- 23:38Speaker 3: this is the point that this I'm this isn't Hollis
- 23:40Speaker 3: Lewis saying this. This is terrorll Owen's saying this, and
- 23:43Speaker 3: I'm giving I'm quoting. He said, if Robert Kraft isn't
- 23:48Speaker 3: first ballot or in by now, because I think he's
- 23:51Speaker 3: been on the ballot for a while, But if Robert
- 23:53Speaker 3: Kraft isn't in by now, and he said, if Bill
- 23:56Speaker 3: Belichick isn't a first ballot Hall of Famer, he said
- 24:00Speaker 3: Tom Brady shouldn't be either.
- 24:02Speaker 5: What are your thoughts.
- 24:05Speaker 4: I don't know about that, because he's.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Saying, like, if you're going to keep Bill Belichick off
- 24:10Speaker 3: because of because of the Flakegate, tom Brady ought to
- 24:13Speaker 3: be done too well.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, that's probably true to a degree. Tom
- 24:19Speaker 4: Brady's out on the field doing the work. That's, you know,
- 24:24Speaker 4: making the plays, completing the passes. They're on the sideline
- 24:28Speaker 4: guiding him. I think that's you can't compare apples and oranges.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Well, well, let me ask you who's fooling with the ball.
- 24:38Speaker 5: My question. You're going to go that way. I'm gonna
- 24:41Speaker 5: come back and say, Okay, Brady.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Brady is taking the ball and giving it to somebody
- 24:48Speaker 3: to say, Hey, he ain't giving it to Belichick.
- 24:50Speaker 5: He giving it to what you're saying. Brady's was hands
- 24:53Speaker 5: on in the Brady.
- 24:55Speaker 3: If he if he if he done if allegend, if
- 25:00Speaker 3: he was going to do it the way he would
- 25:02Speaker 3: do it, he ain't got to go through Belichick.
- 25:05Speaker 5: He's going to somebody. He got a dude who's over there,
- 25:07Speaker 5: who's who's.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Got a women manager, somebody that he's working with to
- 25:13Speaker 3: make that ball as comfortable for him as he needs
- 25:16Speaker 3: it today.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Determined those who was actually behind.
- 25:19Speaker 3: It, but Brady Brady. I think I think they all
- 25:22Speaker 3: end up getting in some sort of trouble. I think
- 25:24Speaker 3: Brady had got suspended and a Bill but they all
- 25:28Speaker 3: faced some sort of sanction of punishment from the league.
- 25:30Speaker 3: But it's not stopping Brady from being on ESPN. Oh boy,
- 25:35Speaker 3: But but here, Okay, so here's my thing. Hold on,
- 25:40Speaker 3: I think I think Terrell Owens has a legitimate point.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I don't.
- 25:44Speaker 3: I think people would be dismissive of it just because
- 25:46Speaker 3: who's saying it and his reputation. But I think it's
- 25:50Speaker 3: a legitimate fair point. Now do I agree, Absolutely not,
- 25:54Speaker 3: because I think the thing that we can say with
- 25:56Speaker 3: Brady is that he won a bunch of Super Bowls
- 25:59Speaker 3: with the Patriots.
- 26:00Speaker 5: But see, but he also.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Won that Super Bowl with the with the Bucks, so
- 26:04Speaker 3: he so he had his time there, and then he
- 26:07Speaker 3: had his time outside of that system. So he proved
- 26:11Speaker 3: that I'm legitimate outside of them. Okay, but they you
- 26:15Speaker 3: know what I mean? Okay, I do yes, and and
- 26:17Speaker 3: and and let me just say this as a former player,
- 26:23Speaker 3: and when things that you do wrong, there are major consequences.
- 26:29Speaker 3: There are guys who are not in the Hall of
- 26:31Speaker 3: Fame because the things that they've done. I could think
- 26:34Speaker 3: of one right now. Okay, see, and so my question
- 26:40Speaker 3: then I'm not I'm not a Brady hater.
- 26:43Speaker 5: I actually love him as a quarterback.
- 26:45Speaker 3: You know, if you done something, if you done something
- 26:49Speaker 3: that was.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Was illegal for the game.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And was a benefit to you and you who got caught,
- 27:02Speaker 3: and you can be a first ballot haf I don't
- 27:06Speaker 3: understand how we separating the things that are happening. So
- 27:11Speaker 3: how you are you saying, like you're not saying you
- 27:13Speaker 3: shouldn't separate Belichick, craft and break. They should all have
- 27:17Speaker 3: to saw the same consequence. It's got to be the same.
- 27:20Speaker 3: So so so are you on the record saying that
- 27:23Speaker 3: Brady should not be a first ballot Hall of Fame?
- 27:25Speaker 5: No, I think he absolutely should be.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I'm saying based off of the scandal and everything, and
- 27:30Speaker 3: based off what they did to Bill Belichick. No, I'm
- 27:33Speaker 3: gonna say he to me, I'm thinking he's still a
- 27:36Speaker 3: first ballot. Okay, but I'm gonna make the case. Okay,
- 27:39Speaker 3: I got you, he's a.
- 27:40Speaker 5: First ballot well before them. I can't agree with that.
- 27:45Speaker 4: If he's a first ballot, so should Bill Belichick.
- 27:48Speaker 3: I'm okay, Look, if we're gonna if we're not going to,
- 27:52Speaker 3: if we're not gonna hold anything against you, we're not
- 27:54Speaker 3: gonna You're guilty. You are guilty of something, and if
- 27:58Speaker 3: we're not gonna hold that against you in your Hall
- 28:00Speaker 3: of Fame induction, that's fine. Then everybody gets to go.
- 28:05Speaker 3: If you're a legitimate for uh first year die, so
- 28:10Speaker 3: be it. But it seems like we are we are,
- 28:14Speaker 3: we're we're punishing some people from getting in and then
- 28:21Speaker 3: other folks we're gonna let them in regardless of what
- 28:23Speaker 3: they do. I mean, you got a pull in, that's
- 28:27Speaker 3: a problem.
- 28:28Speaker 4: You go ahead, loci, Okay, So do you really think
- 28:31Speaker 4: so that that's the reason because in the initial in
- 28:34Speaker 4: the initial you know, when all this went down, excuse me,
- 28:39Speaker 4: I looked at it and I was like, okay, maybe
- 28:41Speaker 4: the reason why they didn't putting it put him in
- 28:44Speaker 4: first ballot was because of deflate game. Right. That was
- 28:47Speaker 4: initial thoughts. But then also one of the changes that
- 28:51Speaker 4: I didn't talk about a minute ago, I'm going to now,
- 28:54Speaker 4: uh there there were viewing a rule that groups coaches
- 28:58Speaker 4: and contributors with older players who have been on the
- 29:02Speaker 4: ballot for multiple years, that they need to look at
- 29:05Speaker 4: that because one of the players that they're inducting is
- 29:08Speaker 4: Roger Craig.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Yeah, phenomenal running back.
- 29:11Speaker 4: Well, this was his now or never, because because you know,
- 29:16Speaker 4: he's been on the ballot so many times, I don't
- 29:18Speaker 4: know what the what the regulations are that this was
- 29:21Speaker 4: his now or never. He's either going to get in
- 29:23Speaker 4: this time or he's off.
- 29:24Speaker 3: To Okay, to me, that's just to me, that's crap.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Thank I can't buy that. I have been and I'm
- 29:30Speaker 3: not saying to him. I'm not saying Lisa's crab. I'm
- 29:32Speaker 3: just talking about that. But they're the fact that we
- 29:35Speaker 3: that you you have to do something to help Roger
- 29:38Speaker 3: Craig get into the Hall of Fame. It makes no
- 29:42Speaker 3: sense because here is the dude who was probably one
- 29:46Speaker 3: of the best running backs.
- 29:47Speaker 5: Of the eighties of the eighties, and he can't get in.
- 29:52Speaker 5: He's not a first ballot. How is he not a
- 29:54Speaker 5: first I wouldn't say.
- 29:55Speaker 3: First about Oh my god, he's not a first ballot
- 29:58Speaker 3: because you can't say he's the best of his era.
- 30:00Speaker 3: You can't say he's not better than Eric Dickerson. He
- 30:02Speaker 3: wasn't better than Walter Payton. He's not the best of
- 30:05Speaker 3: So he may not be a first ballot, but he's
- 30:06Speaker 3: a Hall of Famer. But he's right there. Well, let's
- 30:13Speaker 3: not go off on that end. But what I'm saying, Lisa,
- 30:16Speaker 3: I do see your point. But at the same time.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Instead of Bill Belichick, he'll get in eventually. We know
- 30:25Speaker 4: that he's going to get in, but he's not going
- 30:27Speaker 4: to be a first ballot.
- 30:28Speaker 3: But the thing is is that for Bill Belichick, that
- 30:31Speaker 3: is the honor is the honor. The honor is being
- 30:34Speaker 3: a first ballot Hall of Famer, not just getting in.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Because here's what I'm saying. I understand what they're saying,
- 30:40Speaker 3: and that sounds good, but that just sounds like an
- 30:42Speaker 3: excuse because Bill Belichick, if you got the most super
- 30:46Speaker 3: Bowl wins as a head coach, and like I said,
- 30:49Speaker 3: but last week, Bill Belichick coached the two greatest offensive
- 30:54Speaker 3: and defensive football players of all time. If we're saying
- 30:57Speaker 3: you you coach the best quarterback in history, and you
- 31:01Speaker 3: coach the best defensive player in history, how.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Are you not in?
- 31:04Speaker 3: And again not just as they head coach with super bowls,
- 31:07Speaker 3: but you also got two Super Bowls as a defensive
- 31:10Speaker 3: coordinator and you coach the best guy of all time.
- 31:13Speaker 3: So you can't give me that, Oh well, we just
- 31:15Speaker 3: got If that's what you're gonna do, then have one
- 31:18Speaker 3: for coaches, one for old players or older players, and
- 31:21Speaker 3: have one for modern players.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I think, but there's no way you can do that.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I think there is a group that after you get
- 31:29Speaker 3: past a certain time, then you become you know.
- 31:32Speaker 5: That's what she said said, But I don't think. I
- 31:39Speaker 5: don't think you know.
- 31:40Speaker 3: I mean, some of these some of these names that
- 31:42Speaker 3: we're throwing around are to me, some of the best
- 31:46Speaker 3: players in the league, some of the best coaches ever
- 31:50Speaker 3: and have coached some of the best teams ever. Now, accidentally,
- 31:56Speaker 3: you couldn't repeat it four times or whatever.
- 32:00Speaker 5: You did what you needed to do.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think, like I said, I'm I'm happy
- 32:04Speaker 3: that they're changing the process.
- 32:06Speaker 5: I want more accountability. I agree with you, coach.
- 32:09Speaker 3: I don't care if you're voting on a middle school
- 32:11Speaker 3: Hall of Fame. I want to see your vote. Yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 3: I want to know. I want to want to know
- 32:16Speaker 3: what you voted for, and I want to know who
- 32:18Speaker 3: voted for it. And I and I also think because
- 32:22Speaker 3: I think Lisa, you said there's fifty total votes, correct, right.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Fifty fifties member committee, and I.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Think that fifty member committee should be rotated. I don't
- 32:31Speaker 3: think you should just be perpetually there. I think you there,
- 32:34Speaker 3: you like you serve on the board. You serve on
- 32:36Speaker 3: the board for maybe two to three years, and then
- 32:38Speaker 3: you bring and then and then you then that cycles out.
- 32:41Speaker 3: You get five more and five or even five more
- 32:43Speaker 3: until you eventually can get a new board over a
- 32:45Speaker 3: period of time. I don't think you just have the
- 32:47Speaker 3: same guy sitting there. And I think that board has
- 32:50Speaker 3: to consist of certain types of people age wise in
- 32:54Speaker 3: order to be able to go back and get some
- 32:58Speaker 3: of these guys who are sitting now. Cause I like
- 33:01Speaker 3: the writer. I like having the writers on it. I
- 33:04Speaker 3: don't necessarily agree that it should be only players because
- 33:07Speaker 3: I think the writers because sometimes just because you're a
- 33:10Speaker 3: player don't mean you're studying the game or you're watching
- 33:13Speaker 3: the game.
- 33:13Speaker 5: Some players just don't do that.
- 33:15Speaker 3: But I would think, like like somebody like me, if
- 33:18Speaker 3: I were to have that opportunity, I would turn it
- 33:21Speaker 3: down because I'm saying I would turn it down because
- 33:25Speaker 3: I know there's going to be a player that's going
- 33:26Speaker 3: to know more and is invested into the game way
- 33:29Speaker 3: deeper than me. And I think that should be like
- 33:32Speaker 3: one of those things like are you actually it should
- 33:34Speaker 3: be an interview process. Are you watching again? Are you
- 33:36Speaker 3: keeping up with everything? Are you a historian? So I
- 33:38Speaker 3: think that's what writers come into play. But I would say,
- 33:41Speaker 3: to like Randy Moss and Dion and all those points,
- 33:44Speaker 3: maybe you don't have as many writers because a lot
- 33:47Speaker 3: of these writers, from what I'm on it, they're very sensitive,
- 33:50Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, They're super sensitive about everything,
- 33:53Speaker 3: and I think maybe they should have a smaller group
- 33:56Speaker 3: of writers to not make up so much of that board,
- 33:59Speaker 3: to have so much influence and certainly rotated in.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I think it should be players. What you think, Lisa,
- 34:06Speaker 5: I think.
- 34:06Speaker 4: It should be twenty five, probably twenty five writers coaches,
- 34:10Speaker 4: and then twenty five actual players.
- 34:12Speaker 3: I think twenty five players, twenty five coaches. See I
- 34:15Speaker 3: would say I would, I would. I would need media.
- 34:18Speaker 5: I know you. I think you do need media. I
- 34:20Speaker 5: think you need me. I think they're not playing.
- 34:22Speaker 3: But because I think media, they're covering the game, so
- 34:25Speaker 3: they're seeing the totality of the.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Game, typing in a story. They're not playing the game.
- 34:29Speaker 3: But now, well, you don't have I don't think you
- 34:31Speaker 3: have to play the game to understand it and to
- 34:34Speaker 3: and to know who's great and who's to pick between
- 34:38Speaker 3: two superstar players.
- 34:41Speaker 5: You need to know who you had to play against
- 34:43Speaker 5: that guy, see them on film or or something.
- 34:46Speaker 3: But you're not playing in every area, so that's not
- 34:48Speaker 3: a fair. You don't do that, I know. That's why
- 34:50Speaker 3: I said, because you'll be biased to your era. That's
- 34:52Speaker 3: why I said that we needed to have all airs covered.
- 34:57Speaker 3: You know, you know, different different ages. But but I
- 35:00Speaker 3: think when you're sitting in that room and you're looking
- 35:03Speaker 3: at some film and you know, so if I don't
- 35:05Speaker 3: know this guy, and so I'm doing my research, so
- 35:08Speaker 3: I got him up on film, there's something that I
- 35:11Speaker 3: can see that I don't think necessarily a writer I
- 35:17Speaker 3: would say to me, I would say, you have players,
- 35:21Speaker 3: you have coaches, you have ad men, so you have
- 35:25Speaker 3: gms and owners sometime in there too, so you have
- 35:27Speaker 3: those former gms, maybe some former owners like presidents and
- 35:31Speaker 3: CEOs of like organizations and teams are different of that nature.
- 35:35Speaker 3: And then you also have media. And I think the
- 35:38Speaker 3: media can consist of like maybe those color play by play,
- 35:42Speaker 3: those announcers, and maybe some just some writers too.
- 35:45Speaker 5: So I think if you add like.
- 35:46Speaker 3: That, and and to your point, I think you have
- 35:50Speaker 3: to have it across generations, So there have to be
- 35:53Speaker 3: some older people in there, and it has to be
- 35:56Speaker 3: younger people. So it has to be a range of age,
- 36:00Speaker 3: just across a range of sort of occupations within football.
- 36:05Speaker 3: So it just it can't just be one thing, because
- 36:08Speaker 3: like I said, if you if you're in that room,
- 36:10Speaker 3: it's Carl Lee the football player, and I'm in you
- 36:13Speaker 3: have another younger person in that room and we're trying
- 36:17Speaker 3: to decide on whose Hall of Famer, You're gonna be
- 36:19Speaker 3: biased to your error because you played against those guys.
- 36:22Speaker 3: So that's all you're gonna see. You're not necessarily gonna
- 36:25Speaker 3: understand maybe how good this guy is, who is who's
- 36:28Speaker 3: newer because you didn't play against him. Because you're you're
- 36:30Speaker 3: gonna be biased to your error. So I think you
- 36:33Speaker 3: have to. I think that's where the media comes in
- 36:35Speaker 3: because they're gonna be able to or they I'll say this,
- 36:38Speaker 3: they should be able to be across you know, generations,
- 36:42Speaker 3: and and I think if we have less writers and
- 36:45Speaker 3: media in there, then we can sort of get the
- 36:47Speaker 3: feelings out of it, because I think they get in
- 36:49Speaker 3: their feelings, like if somebody don't give them an interviewed
- 36:52Speaker 3: they wanna may want to keep them out because of
- 36:54Speaker 3: that and do all these things, you know what I mean,
- 36:56Speaker 3: that's the issue.
- 36:59Speaker 5: Yes, ma'am.
- 37:00Speaker 4: I think I think Hollis just called you O L
- 37:03Speaker 4: D in an NFLUS.
- 37:07Speaker 5: You see, but only you would want to come back
- 37:10Speaker 5: and makes your eye I said, But I said, Era,
- 37:13Speaker 5: that's what I said. I said, Era, let me this
- 37:18Speaker 5: real quick.
- 37:18Speaker 4: So so Bill Belichick obviously is not in on first ballot,
- 37:23Speaker 4: he will be eventually. Do you think, and I know
- 37:26Speaker 4: that this would not be ethical, It wouldn't be right.
- 37:30Speaker 4: But we're all but they're humans. These fifty people on
- 37:33Speaker 4: this committee are human. Do you think that they may
- 37:35Speaker 4: have taken into consideration his performance while being the head
- 37:39Speaker 4: coach at North Carolina.
- 37:41Speaker 3: Uh, that's actually a really good point. I hope they didn't.
- 37:45Speaker 3: I mean I would hope they. I hope they because
- 37:47Speaker 3: those are to your point, Whew said, those are apples
- 37:49Speaker 3: and oranges. I would really hope they would not do
- 37:52Speaker 3: that if they did that to me, that that's totally
- 37:55Speaker 3: in the back of the time.
- 37:56Speaker 5: Maybe, but I but I don't.
- 37:58Speaker 3: But I don't see how you even consider the number
- 38:00Speaker 3: one is college is not in NFL it's not you
- 38:02Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, it's it's the Pro Football Hall
- 38:05Speaker 3: of Fame. It's not you know, the football Hall of Fame.
- 38:08Speaker 3: And to me, what he did, like I said, I
- 38:10Speaker 3: just I think it was a it was a mix
- 38:12Speaker 3: of the Flakegate. I think Bill Belichick has a Grawley personality.
- 38:18Speaker 3: He's not a likable person. So I think a lot
- 38:20Speaker 3: of the media in that room, and maybe even some
- 38:23Speaker 3: some former players, they just.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Didn't like him, you know what I mean.
- 38:26Speaker 3: But and I think, but but even with all that,
- 38:28Speaker 3: I just don't see how you get around with his accomplishments.
- 38:31Speaker 5: I don't see how you do it.
- 38:32Speaker 3: And the same and and again you talk about a
- 38:35Speaker 3: person like Sterling Sharp now and you're talking about it's
- 38:38Speaker 3: clear to see, Nah, that's different. That's different. We can't
- 38:41Speaker 3: compare that. You could compare to Yo, because I think
- 38:44Speaker 3: Too is the perfect comparison, because they didn't like Tyo.
- 38:47Speaker 3: But I think Sterling. But I think with Stella, his
- 38:50Speaker 3: career was just too short. I think they took that
- 38:52Speaker 3: in consideration. He only had seven years, so I think
- 38:55Speaker 3: they was again he should have probably been in a
- 38:58Speaker 3: long time ago.
- 38:59Speaker 5: But I think with his career being only said.
- 39:02Speaker 3: He's but in those seven years, in those seven years
- 39:06Speaker 3: was the streak. There was a Jerry Rice guy that
- 39:09Speaker 3: played for that team called the forty nine ers that
- 39:12Speaker 3: was behind him and Yard each and catches when they're
- 39:17Speaker 3: both at their prime.
- 39:20Speaker 5: But it's only seven years. But even to compare that,
- 39:22Speaker 5: I mean.
- 39:23Speaker 3: But so so so are you making the case too
- 39:27Speaker 3: that if you if somebody comes in plays all seven years,
- 39:32Speaker 3: goes Pro Bowl, all.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Pro is not, he can't be worthy of a first
- 39:40Speaker 5: ballot Hall of Fame. Again.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I'm again as a player who played in that era,
- 39:45Speaker 3: who understood what he did in his era. Your perspective
- 39:49Speaker 3: is different. If you're a writer and you're like, maybe
- 39:54Speaker 3: maybe a touch younger than me, you didn't see Sterling
- 39:58Speaker 3: sharp in his prime in his era. So what you're
- 40:00Speaker 3: looking at, you're looking at seven years and you're just
- 40:03Speaker 3: looking at the toe. You going to the bottom of
- 40:05Speaker 3: the baseball or excuse me, football card, and you're just
- 40:07Speaker 3: looking at the total numbers. And that's and that's kind
- 40:10Speaker 3: of where you're stuck at. You're not you're not necessarily
- 40:12Speaker 3: diving deep into which which is which is? Which is
- 40:15Speaker 3: a fall in the sta because you got to be
- 40:19Speaker 3: able to find those people so that you don't make
- 40:22Speaker 3: these mistakes and have guys sitting out there passing away
- 40:28Speaker 3: before they they they get they get in and being
- 40:31Speaker 3: notable players.
- 40:34Speaker 5: See, that's my problem.
- 40:35Speaker 3: I for players who who are great players have been
- 40:42Speaker 3: great players. I think the worst the worst thing that
- 40:48Speaker 3: happens in my to me, in my mind is when
- 40:51Speaker 3: a guy passes away before he gets his roses, and
- 40:57Speaker 3: and and so. I don't how you look at it
- 41:01Speaker 3: from the media. I don't care how you look at it,
- 41:04Speaker 3: as you know, the public.
- 41:07Speaker 5: When you've played against these teams.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Like, I'm not gonna say if I have to go
- 41:13Speaker 3: and say, if somebody would ask me, you talk about
- 41:16Speaker 3: running backs, it's all kinds of great running backs, right,
- 41:19Speaker 3: I can pick and choose all across the board. If
- 41:22Speaker 3: you asked me, was Roger Craig in that group? Oh yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 3: do you think he's in the middle, top, bottom or whatever?
- 41:29Speaker 5: He at the top.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Yeah, he's at the top.
- 41:33Speaker 3: And and he was with a team that has a
- 41:36Speaker 3: ton of great players, every one of the most all
- 41:39Speaker 3: their skilled guys or notable skilled quarterback.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Right, they're all in. Sorry, let me let me ask
- 41:47Speaker 5: you guys this so well.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I asked Lisa, what did we think about to have
- 41:52Speaker 3: time show?
- 41:54Speaker 4: I liked it, Yeah, and I liked it because the
- 42:00Speaker 4: music was great. I liked this symbolic moment that they
- 42:06Speaker 4: had so, I mean, the real life wedding. I thought
- 42:09Speaker 4: that was pretty you know, yeah, that was Yeah. I
- 42:13Speaker 4: found that out today. I thought it was just part
- 42:15Speaker 4: of the performance, but it was actually officiated and celebrated,
- 42:18Speaker 4: you know, right there on the stage. I liked. I
- 42:21Speaker 4: liked the part of it where bad Bunny, you know,
- 42:23Speaker 4: handed his his Grammy to that excuse me, young boy,
- 42:28Speaker 4: and you know it kind of like, I don't know,
- 42:30Speaker 4: it kind of painted a picture of when, you know,
- 42:32Speaker 4: his journey from Puerto Rico to being this global star
- 42:35Speaker 4: he is now. I like that a lot. And I
- 42:37Speaker 4: really liked the graphic at the end of the performance
- 42:41Speaker 4: on the you know, on the sign that said the
- 42:44Speaker 4: only thing more powerful than hate is love. So I
- 42:47Speaker 4: felt like it was just overall it was you know,
- 42:50Speaker 4: I thought it was a good performance.
- 42:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I thought the music was a look because, to be
- 42:55Speaker 3: honest with you, I've never heard of like I didn't
- 42:58Speaker 3: I've never heard his music. I had neither, So like
- 43:01Speaker 3: the music even though it was in Spanish, it was
- 43:03Speaker 3: it was, it was okay.
- 43:05Speaker 5: The show was just it was okay.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I mean, I think the thing in everything you said
- 43:10Speaker 3: as far as the imagery, like there was a lot
- 43:12Speaker 3: of more Easter eggs and different things of that nature
- 43:14Speaker 3: and there so that I mean, that was pretty cool.
- 43:16Speaker 3: But the music was better than what I thought. But
- 43:18Speaker 3: overall it was like yeah, And I don't know if
- 43:22Speaker 3: this is if this is for the super Bowl, specifically
- 43:29Speaker 3: for the super Bowl. I don't know if I'm wrong
- 43:34Speaker 3: when I say this, but like I think that that
- 43:37Speaker 3: that the artists that we.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Choose should be able to.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Sing play something that the entire audience can understand. You
- 43:54Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. I mean, I got I mean okay,
- 43:57Speaker 3: like I got nothing against them. I didn't know him,
- 44:00Speaker 3: know him prior to and I'm not gonna I'm not
- 44:03Speaker 3: like I'm gonna go buy something of his. I don't
- 44:07Speaker 3: have it. I don't have a problem with him being there.
- 44:12Speaker 6: But to me, when you when you start talking about
- 44:16Speaker 6: the super Bowl and you talk about something that's as
- 44:21Speaker 6: American as it can be, I don't mean, I don't
- 44:25Speaker 6: mean it in.
- 44:26Speaker 5: A bad way.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I really don't but but you know, and I get
- 44:31Speaker 3: I get that too. But but if you're going to.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Give me a song, you just want to be able
- 44:36Speaker 5: to sing. I want to be a sing along.
- 44:37Speaker 4: With you, you know.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Or I want to be able to say, oh I
- 44:41Speaker 3: like that. I'm gonna go get that.
- 44:43Speaker 5: You know.
- 44:43Speaker 3: I like country music anyway, So you know, you might
- 44:47Speaker 3: have been there, he might have been able to get me.
- 44:49Speaker 5: But I don't know a word of it. And I
- 44:53Speaker 5: just don't.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Say.
- 44:56Speaker 4: What is the Mackerina back in ninety three?
- 45:04Speaker 5: Again?
- 45:08Speaker 3: I mean, and I know that people don't want to
- 45:11Speaker 3: say it, you know, and I'm probably I feel it.
- 45:15Speaker 5: I just I just didn't.
- 45:16Speaker 3: I just didn't feel it because it didn't get me,
- 45:18Speaker 3: you know, like I would have loved to have know
- 45:20Speaker 3: what he said. I think maybe, I mean that's actually
- 45:23Speaker 3: a good point, maybe like caption, but I don't know
- 45:26Speaker 3: it was. It was just okay for me. So in
- 45:28Speaker 3: addition to the super Bowl, Now do any do any
- 45:32Speaker 3: of you watched or do you pay any attention to
- 45:34Speaker 3: the Winter Olympics. I tend to to watch the Winter Olympics.
- 45:40Speaker 3: I enjoy what it's like, like the downhill, like the
- 45:43Speaker 3: downhill stuff, the downhill yes, I love that. I was
- 45:47Speaker 3: watching the parallel Giant Sloan and it's basically they're on
- 45:53Speaker 3: the snowboard and they're like weaving in and out of
- 45:56Speaker 3: the flag, so they're going like in and out, in
- 45:58Speaker 3: and out. When I tell you, that might be my
- 46:02Speaker 3: favorite win. And I've never seen this before. This is
- 46:04Speaker 3: my first time seeing it on Sunday. You had to,
- 46:09Speaker 3: I think the women's and the men's They was actually
- 46:11Speaker 3: like this was the metal racing, so I seen like
- 46:13Speaker 3: the bronze and the gold metal races, and it was
- 46:15Speaker 3: they have a short saloon and they have a a
- 46:18Speaker 3: a giant one so they have you know, the heels
- 46:20Speaker 3: are bigger when I tell you, like there was this
- 46:25Speaker 3: was maybe one of the best. I mean because I
- 46:27Speaker 3: like the speed skating, I like curling, and I'm a
- 46:30Speaker 3: figure skating.
- 46:31Speaker 5: Guys, are you a figure skating? I don't bother me either.
- 46:34Speaker 5: I like it too, Lisa, how about you?
- 46:37Speaker 4: But I like I like them. I actually like the
- 46:40Speaker 4: skating and I also like the curling.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Curly, Yeah, I don't. I like curling. Curling is what's
- 46:47Speaker 3: up me? I'm telling you it's fun.
- 46:52Speaker 4: That's relaxing. I don't know. I could just sit there
- 46:55Speaker 4: and watch it, and they just they're so focused. And
- 46:58Speaker 4: that's probably a sport I can excel at in the Olympics.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Maybe that's why I'm practiced too. I don't think they've done. Yeah.
- 47:06Speaker 3: I like Bob and I like the speed skating too.
- 47:08Speaker 3: I mean that's just like it's like a sprint with
- 47:11Speaker 3: skates on, and I could it was hard for me
- 47:14Speaker 3: to fathom how fast. And it's one she's an American,
- 47:18Speaker 3: her name sister of mine, but she's just moving incredibly
- 47:22Speaker 3: fast on those skates. It's it's just unbelievable how talented
- 47:27Speaker 3: that they have to be to go that fast just
- 47:32Speaker 3: a just a blade a blade, dude, crack man, I'm
- 47:36Speaker 3: breaking an ankle, tearing my knee up.
- 47:40Speaker 4: No way, did you guys about Lindsey Vaughn breaking her legs?
- 47:44Speaker 5: Look?
- 47:46Speaker 3: I could not, but now, and to put it in
- 47:47Speaker 3: context for those who don't know Lindsay Vaughan, I think
- 47:50Speaker 3: in practice she tore she basically ruptured or basically I
- 47:53Speaker 3: think she tore her a cl and then she gets yeah,
- 47:57Speaker 3: then she gets back out there, goes fast than what
- 48:01Speaker 3: she did previously, and it's about to compete for try
- 48:04Speaker 3: to get a medal again and get this. She ain't
- 48:07Speaker 3: twenty two, she's like forty fifth. Yes, Like yeah, if
- 48:10Speaker 3: she can, I would say, Man, if she could just compete,
- 48:14Speaker 3: if she gets four fifth a bronze, if she can
- 48:18Speaker 3: literally just maintain and compete, it's one of the most
- 48:21Speaker 3: amazing things ever. I truly think it's It's like, I'm
- 48:27Speaker 3: gonna give it the analogy of like like football, man,
- 48:30Speaker 3: Like I think that you know, parts of your body
- 48:35Speaker 3: trying to do that kind of stuff, and as you
- 48:38Speaker 3: keep getting as you get year after year, get older
- 48:40Speaker 3: and older and older, it.
- 48:42Speaker 5: Don't get any easier. Yeah, she took a nasty fall.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and when you try to come back off of
- 48:46Speaker 3: something like that, man, it's just it's you just can't.
- 48:49Speaker 5: You're not like you're twenty. Yeah, but she's still competing.
- 48:53Speaker 5: That's the amazing thing.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:55Speaker 3: Yeah, But is that competing worth maybe you know something
- 49:00Speaker 3: that's goned Ultimately it is because you got to think,
- 49:03Speaker 3: this is the Winter Olympics. This is once every four years,
- 49:06Speaker 3: so it ain't like coming back next season. This is
- 49:08Speaker 3: and she's forty Like I'm saying, I'd make the case
- 49:11Speaker 3: like she I'm surprised.
- 49:14Speaker 5: That she's back. Yeah, I would, now I agree with them.
- 49:16Speaker 3: You know, because you know it's someone And again I'm
- 49:19Speaker 3: sure she planned on it. She trained and she did
- 49:22Speaker 3: everything she had to do. But again, like I said,
- 49:24Speaker 3: man age has a way of finding you in a
- 49:27Speaker 3: certain kind of way, and it ain't It's usually not good,
- 49:30Speaker 3: and I don't wish that for her.
- 49:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I just looked it up. Guys. USA Today reported
- 49:36Speaker 4: she had a devastating injury after Olympics crash. So she
- 49:41Speaker 4: she's already wiped out. She had shelter hair before. I
- 49:46Speaker 4: think that's what we were referring to before the Olympics started.
- 49:51Speaker 5: Okay, okay, okay.
- 49:53Speaker 4: And she broke her leg in a downhill crash at
- 49:56Speaker 4: the Olympics twenty three hours ago.
- 50:00Speaker 5: She broke her leg. So this was so she had
- 50:02Speaker 5: two injuries.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Yes, well, yeah, she had the aco pair and she
- 50:08Speaker 4: insisted yes before during the trials and she insisted on
- 50:12Speaker 4: going through with the Olympics. And then just less than
- 50:16Speaker 4: twenty four hours ago she went down here on broker
- 50:19Speaker 4: leg and a crash also.
- 50:20Speaker 5: So okay, so she also she's done it.
- 50:23Speaker 3: So she's done that, and see and seeing that's the
- 50:27Speaker 3: and that's the competitiveness of an athlete when you I mean,
- 50:32Speaker 3: you know your age, you know you're vulnerable, you're coming
- 50:35Speaker 3: off of an injury already, and you're going to just
- 50:38Speaker 3: still try to go out there and compete. Man, you
- 50:40Speaker 3: know it, and it's hard to walk away. You love
- 50:43Speaker 3: a sport so much and you an age is trying.
- 50:47Speaker 3: You know, you've been so successful at it, and now
