- 0:00serious question how many pings have you
- 0:03eaten over the years welcome to multiple
- 0:07nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:12Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:17Things
- 0:25nerdy mine or other people's just in
- 0:28general just in general uh none okay I have a problem where I somehow manage to
- 0:35eat pings while I'm asleep so that sounds worse when without
- 0:42context you have many piercings around many piercings yes yeah you have four I
- 0:48used to but I've swallowed them and never I'm terrible at putting them back
- 0:52in right so you swallowed four I swallowed at least four I Rec think I swallowed my nose
- 0:58Sprint Jesus all right CU I went to sleep with it in I only got it pieced like what two
- 1:05weeks ago woke up and it's gone so you were feeling you to comfort yourself you
- 1:10were sucking your own nose and when you woke up the ring was gone so now I do
- 1:15have a ring in but yeah I don't know it just happens to me somehow I don't think
- 1:22because I did have a lip ring at one point which I'm sure you'll recall I got
- 1:26at pack Jenna likes to bring it up because I wind like a [ __ ] baby the whole
- 1:32time um but I never ate it yeah in my
- 1:38lip yeah no I I fiddle and
- 1:43then I'll just fiddle all the time with touching
- 1:49yes and so then I'll lose I'll lose an end of it and then I'll just not replace
- 1:53it and then it'll just work its way out and then I'll swallow it and sure yeah
- 1:58I'm shouldn't be trusted with things mhm but you can always recover them
- 2:02right after swall them no I just I just accept that they're gone okay you could
- 2:08but you don't I could I just choose not to that's fair that's if want next time
- 2:13I swallow one I'll let you try and recover it uh you'll have to maybe pop it in the
- 2:18freezer because it might be some time before I'm back down under wink
- 2:25wink but how many think I'd have to stall cuz it might not be the first
- 2:30how many you swallowing I don't know mate however many you
- 2:36lose oh should we mention there's no Dan uh people have probably noticed but
- 2:42yeah we should say Dan's uh bit under the weather this week so he's not here
- 2:48we're getting better fancy glass and everything yeah got a gimlet this this
- 2:54glass also came out of the freezer oh man so so I just have a
- 2:59little uh what do you call these uh what do you call these [ __ ] things
- 3:03jar Mason jar Mason jar
- 3:06um we have a a friend of the family who keeps all of his pint glasses in the
- 3:12freezer and yeah and then when he comes around you offer him a beer he's like
- 3:18annoyed that we don't do that it's like my freezer's full of food mate I only I
- 3:24have one martini glass that I keep in the freezer bad idea yeah yeah I guess I
- 3:30could do that could sacrifice some freeza space just for one just for
- 3:36you me and for uh for our friend no no no make him watch you drink from your
- 3:41we'll call him Cobra his nickname is Cobra we'll call him Cobra Cobra yeah no
- 3:45no make him you get your you get offer a be you give him his and then you get
- 3:48yours out of the freezer and just make him watch as you sick that would be very
- 3:53funny that would that would very much annoy
- 3:56him we were just at um there's like a i
- 4:01a lodge up the road from from here ver again and we are members of the of the
- 4:08uh mug Club there now which the be mug
- 4:11Club so I let Jenna and Jordan do the calculations but you pay a upfront fee
- 4:18and then you literally get your own mug like I have a mug there with a number on
- 4:22it that is mine a big a big Stein okay
- 4:27when you buy a beer and instead of a normal pint glass you it's the same
- 4:33price but you fill they fill your your mug up right so
- 4:39but there was some math involved in determining is this worth it with The
- 4:44Upfront Fen kind of stuff and we figure enough you gonna do it yeah we figure
- 4:49we're up here enough it's fine because it's if you were local it's definitely
- 4:54worth it but if you're up there once three months no unless you're an
- 4:58alcoholic well listeners and viewers of the show will will notice I've been here
- 5:03quite a bit recently so yes because it's nice to go up there in the winter that's
- 5:08right it's nice to come up here in summer it's just nice up here it's quite
- 5:12nice you been there what last three weeks I have yeah yeah fix my internet
- 5:18in theory looking a lot better yeah I'm not frozen oh yeah sorry about last week
- 5:23did you see the video last week [ __ ] atrocious I really hope it's not like
- 5:28that this week like it doesn't look like that to us but when I when I downloaded
- 5:35it to edit it was awful there were a couple times I saw you go a bit weird
- 5:40but you look absolutely fine this week you look as beautiful as ever oh thank
- 5:44you I am just a bit weird so that might be yeah I think we all are well we've
- 5:48been doing this for a decade but we were just at the lodge
- 5:52right and it also has like a little game room arcade with some okay like it's got cruising
- 5:58USA say and like a like a Pac-Man SL space invader SL you can choose a bunch
- 6:04of games probably name kind of thing yeah and some claw machines and it's
- 6:10it's got three claw machines and lra [ __ ] loves my daughter is obsess with
- 6:16them and so um we got there and got some drinks and stuff like that and then she
- 6:21goes off into just it's just the next room we kind of see what she's doing but
- 6:24then she comes back and she's got two keys
- 6:30right and I'm like what are those and she's like she's
- 6:35like keys keys for the for the machine and I I was like why do you have them I
- 6:41was like show me so I I'm like take me and so she takes me to like this one of
- 6:45the claw machines in the corner and she like points at it she goes it's the keys
- 6:50and I was like hang on give them to me and I so I like tried them I'm like
- 6:54these are the keys for the CLW machine why do you have them
- 7:00and then I said to her where did you get these and she goes um and I think at
- 7:04this point she thought she was in trouble so she goes oh from from the
- 7:09kids and I said the kids what kids and
- 7:13she was like uh oh I want
- 7:19mommy and I was like it's all right you're not in trouble but I was like I
- 7:23better take them to hey I've got the keys for the claw machine like yeah so I
- 7:28I took them up to the the bar and I said my daughter has these I don't know why I
- 7:34don't know where she got them from she's not a criminal as far as I'm
- 7:37aware uh and so I gave them to him and then even he was like we don't keep
- 7:43these there's a company that comes and like looks after the machines and he
- 7:47goes where did she get them from and I was like I don't know she won't tell me
- 7:50because she thinks she's going to get in trouble so yeah odds are they probably just left
- 7:56them in there yeah yeah it's possible I just
- 8:01yeah it's a mystery yeah so anyway we we handed them in and he um he said thanks
- 8:07and took half the toys that were in there I could have but you know it's not
- 8:12me no you took all if she had figured out how to actually open it I'm sure she
- 8:17would have yes so definitely she she wouldn't have be coming back with key
- 8:21she would have be coming back with my arms full of toys she does she tries to
- 8:24grab toys out of there when other kids are using the claw machine and I have to
- 8:28explain to it no no no that's not how that works it's worth a
- 8:34shot you have to put the money in and then you get the toy if you get one
- 8:40those kids aren't winning it for you no you would like this place because it has
- 8:46games and alcohol yes what more do you
- 8:50need exactly I could get my own jug mug thing yeah you could yeah if you want to
- 8:57drink beer I'm not sure it would be worth your while I don't think it would
- 9:00be i' go there once if you came here we
- 9:05would go there yes at least two or three times yes presumably but uh yeah I don't
- 9:12that's probably still not work out even with what I drink you could just share my mug
- 9:18probably just we'll just get him to put you know like a couple shots of vodka in
- 9:21there as well I do drink vodka no no no
- 9:25no but when we're sharing a mug oh yeah
- 9:31yeah drinking a gimlet a gimlet yes it's
- 9:36a funny name it is it's basically just gin and
- 9:40lime it sounds good it really is I'm drinking I think this is a Manhattan
- 9:46it's a premixed bullet thing are we allowed to talk about drinking booze on
- 9:51YouTube I don't actually know I wondered about that we
- 9:56not no no God no monetizer might be different I know
- 10:02you're not allowed to swear in the first minute well then where [ __ ] all right so
- 10:09we'll never be monetized no but that's fine we're not here for
- 10:14the money no no no no not at all um
- 10:19what's been going on this week um have you heard of a new game that's com out
- 10:23called po world I have heard of it um I I know this is what I know about it
- 10:30Pokémon with guns yes I play I played it for about 10
- 10:37minutes I went this game is not for me oh interesting do you like Pokemon I
- 10:42don't mind Pokemon but it's okay not just like straight Pokemon clone or
- 10:47anything that everyone's claiming it is it's a survival game
- 10:51well oh so you go in and you have to build your base and build your so you
- 10:57have to like hit trees to get wood and pick up rocks to build your workbenches
- 11:01to build the thing like it's also part Survival Game I think you might like it I was
- 11:08about to say I think I might like this all right yes but I played went it's not
- 11:14for me but people are just going insane
- 11:17about it what is this on it's on PC it's
- 11:21on Xbox it's it's on Xbox y it's on Xbox play I could play it on this this little
- 11:28guy people just going crazy for and everyone's going oh they're G to get
- 11:33sued and all this and I'm no they're not
- 11:36I saw didn't somebody from uh it's not it's not Nintendo it's game freak right
- 11:43make Pokemon didn't somebody from Game Freak say they're flattered or something
- 11:49yeah like it's not like okay Nintendo like the most pokemon most litigious company in the
- 11:55world yeah this game has not been worked on in secret this been open worked for
- 12:01years and it's still just releasing if they were going to get sued they would
- 12:04have already had that letter gone to them yeah how yeah it's just so weird everyone's
- 12:11just trying to everyone's loving it but then also saying you're gonna get in
- 12:15trouble and it does look a lot like Pokemon doesn't it there
- 12:20are yep the Pokemon company makes an official statement on power world we intend to
- 12:27investigate okay yeah they they've already investig but yeah some there was
- 12:32also another person who tried to come out and go oh they've ripped off the
- 12:36skins and stuff and like all that their meshes are the same and then they came
- 12:41out went no it's not true I just don't like the idea of capturing
- 12:45animals well they're not animals oh I guess I don't know what they are yeah H
- 12:50but but it's not it's not a Pokemon clone it's not because you have to punch
- 12:55trees you have to punch trees I you do
- 12:59have to cut trees in Pokemon so there are yeah I don't know
- 13:06you have to build your workbench I don't think so no no all
- 13:12right interesting there are similarities but I don't think it's G to get in
- 13:17trouble I might try this yeah you might
- 13:20like is it free yeah yeah
- 13:25huh it's free right oh it's on game they're they're selling it they've
- 13:29already like they've already sold like 5 million copies and it's still the game's
- 13:34not officially released yet right early accessa early access
- 13:40type of thing but no you you might like it I might like it let's have a look
- 13:45here I had a friend of mine say like Val valerant Val
- 13:51valerant valheim Valerie Valerie bit like that with the building and stuff I
- 13:56just built one thing one thing and went I'm done
- 14:01valheim yeah I don't know because I do sometimes want to play Minecraft again
- 14:07but I'm [ __ ] sick of Minecraft so and I sometimes want to
- 14:11play Pokemon but I'm sick of Pokemon this might be the thing for you this
- 14:16might be perfect all right I'm remotely connecting to my
- 14:19Xbox it's going to pop up in a moment wait is I'm going to give away anything
- 14:23by showing my Xbox home screen anyway I don't think so you might give away your
- 14:28gamertag Xbox what people know what that is it's the same as everything else [ __ ]
- 14:32it's brain fed same there you go there's my Xbox um and now you should be able to
- 14:38get power world game preview power world install all right it's installing there
- 14:43you go you'll be able to play all right I can turn
- 14:48mcraft back home in Rhode Island is now installing
- 14:52pwell yeah I actually when I was playing I've gone like you and even Dan I think
- 14:56might like it because it's and I saw one
- 14:59of the Pokemon had a chain gun in that picture we can't wait to see what this
- 15:06is like I never got to the point of battling things because I just got to
- 15:10the point of where you have to M to build stuff and I hate building stuff I
- 15:14hate love okay with mining stuff building stuff not for me we're telling
- 15:18someone about this the other day the best thing about playing uh Survival
- 15:23game with you Luke is that listeners when you play when we played Minecraft
- 15:29and when we played Conan Exiles mhm all Luke would do is collect
- 15:35resources and just put them in the communal chest because you can't be
- 15:39[ __ ] bothered doing anything else so we would come on in Minecraft we
- 15:44would come in and the chest would just be full of stuff and we could just build
- 15:47and Conan Exiles same deal Luke would be asleep Stark naked on the
- 15:53floor going and Exiles and the chest would be full of iron well what are you do
- 16:00nothing I don't know why I don't like building stuff lot effort but mining that's nice
- 16:06and
- 16:08relaxing you put a podcast on yeah yeah
- 16:14speaking of podcasts Dan's not here but
- 16:17there has been some followup to the JFK
- 16:21podcast uh maybe we should wait for him no it's
- 16:26garbage they they had this episode this week that was like [ __ ] bombshell
- 16:31testimony from some guy and I'm listening to it I'm like I've heard this
- 16:35before and new to them maybe I don't understand how they can have researched
- 16:41this and not heard this story before but also didn't they research a name who did
- 16:47it it's it's one of the one of the Secret Service agents who was there at
- 16:52the time L literally there and says he found a bullet and then took it put in
- 16:58his pocket and then took to the hospital and put it on the the gurnie with with
- 17:01um Kennedy and I've heard this before it's in I think it's ino's book this is
- 17:07not new information it's not new information but they like they say oh
- 17:11this bombshell it Cracks the Case wide open and I can't tell if they're stupid
- 17:17and they hadn't just had never bothered to read Vincent b o's book which is
- 17:22impossible like they can't did his podcast where they claim they know
- 17:25everything about the [ __ ] JFK assassination and not have read that book
- 17:30or is this a scam like you know what I mean like they pretend it's just drama
- 17:36fake fake drama you know what I mean I don't understand we G talk more
- 17:42about something like that this episode I
- 17:45can't tell if someone's serious or not well they get a lot of money that
- 17:52podcast has so many ads in it and not only that these follow-up episodes are
- 17:56like 15 minutes long but they still have exactly the same number of [ __ ]
- 18:00ads there's like five minutes of AD five minutes of podcast and then five minutes
- 18:06of [ __ ] ads again that sounds terrible it it's it is it's it's a
- 18:11stupid podcast but you can't stop you just can't no because I have to I have
- 18:16to know I have to know is there's something in here that's interesting there's not there's
- 18:21not no maybe we should do a JFK podcast we
- 18:26get that many ads in it maybe that would be a good way to make money
- 18:30I'll tell you what something else too this is a kind of a segue not really but
- 18:35it's it's kind of related in in a loose
- 18:38way I have gotten well into something this
- 18:44week and okay you know I was messaging you guys saying I've been listening to the rest
- 18:51is history podcast which is a very good podcast I recommend to everybody very
- 18:55good I went back I listened to all the more recent ones about the Nazis and so
- 19:00I went back in time on the on the feed and I found there there were two
- 19:04episodes on Atlantis okay which I love a good story about Atlantis right so I
- 19:10started listening to it is a story so I'm listening to this podcast
- 19:16and yes they they they it's all it's all very you know grounded and whatnot
- 19:20talking about things but towards the end they mention Graham Hancock who we've
- 19:24talked about on this show before MH and they mentioned that that he was going to
- 19:30do some debate on Joe Rogan and I was like oh that sounds interesting that
- 19:35sounds very interesting I would like to hear that I did so then I listened to
- 19:41that and I'd never heard I I knew who grahe Hancock was I've never watched his
- 19:45show never read his books never listened to him I just knew about him yeah but
- 19:51when I listened to this episode of brogen I was like oh he's [ __ ]
- 19:57compelling yeah he's very smart and he's very articulate
- 20:02and you can see why people maybe believe because he does this thing where it's
- 20:09almost like the the Achilles heel of skeptical people
- 20:14where we would be grounded by the fact in a way that he's not right so no
- 20:21matter what you say he'll say [ __ ] anything right and you can't keep up
- 20:27with him and so like he does this thing where and and he constantly says things
- 20:33like he talks about the pyramids at gizer and stuff like that and he's
- 20:35talking to this guy Michael shim who's like the um editor of skeptic skeptical
- 20:39inquir magazine he's a very smart guy very like knowledgeable right but he's
- 20:44grounded in facts right it's just how you know like us
- 20:48right and Hancock's like you know the Pyramids of Giza I mean obviously you've
- 20:53been there right and and shim's like no no I've never been and and then H's like
- 20:57oh interesting you've never been and
- 21:01it's like hang on that doesn't matter that's not a gotta thing yeah but he
- 21:07treats it like it is and and it and the way like it took me I'm like hang on a
- 21:11minute no no no he's but he he will 100% convince people by doing stuff like that
- 21:17and like when he talks about like uh these ancient sites where he says like
- 21:23oh I think this was X and then you say well there's no evidence that it was
- 21:29this and then and he'll say so do you have evidence that it wasn't yes the
- 21:33[ __ ] driveway for Atlantis and then you say well no and he goes oh
- 21:38interesting you don't have any evidence that's interesting yeah and it's like no
- 21:43no no that's not interesting it's the same sort of
- 21:48argument you have with like saign citizens um Flat Earth the they're not
- 21:53actually bringing any evidence or anything they're just
- 21:57questioning things yes and then going but we're true we're I'm right and and
- 22:01the problem with it and then so then after that I was like ah I get it he's
- 22:06very interesting like he is very interesting I like listening to him
- 22:10because it ties in it it Taps into something that with that
- 22:14like because I did want to believe all that stuff when I was younger and I mean
- 22:19I don't but to hear him talk about it I'm like I do want to hear more just in
- 22:23case you know what I mean so watch then
- 22:28I watched his Show on Netflix ancient apocalypse and I was and then I I
- 22:34literally found myself watching the episodes and going maybe maybe wait no
- 22:39no no no no wait I need to I need to cleanse my pallet and then I would go
- 22:44online and be like why is he wrong right okay okay he no he is wrong but then I
- 22:50watch the show and and then and he's like so
- 22:53convincing and it's as a work of fiction like not even fiction like
- 22:59pseudo Fiction it's [ __ ] fascinating like I
- 23:04I loved it I loved the show but you know it's entertainment there are yes people
- 23:09who are of less than average intelligence who for them not even not
- 23:15even not even right that like I don't think you even I think anybody could be
- 23:20convinced by this like he makes a very good case for it because he leaves out a
- 23:24bunch of [ __ ] yes and like there no a lot of people haven't heard heard of
- 23:28these places these sites that he goes to like um you know gockley and um the one
- 23:35in Indonesia uh gang gang pang I'm gonna
- 23:39pronounce the name wrong yeah but people aren't familiar with them because we're
- 23:44not taught about that stuff because it's it's not super relevant to like
- 23:48day-to-day life and so he can say whatever he wants and leave out whatever
- 23:52he wants and yeah like I said I get to the end of the episode and I'm like
- 23:57maybe and then I go online I'm like oh no okay no he's definitely
- 24:04wrong but like even I said to I texted you guys I was like he makes a good
- 24:09point in that so there are these sites that are built on top of these mountains
- 24:14and then he says oh there's um Chambers using ground penetrating radar they
- 24:20found these Chambers right but he he doesn't mention that these are volcanes
- 24:24these are extinct volcanoes he does just doesn't mention it right so the the the
- 24:29average audience doesn't get that piece of information which is very important
- 24:32right is very important because that's probably have you know volcanic Chambers
- 24:38in them yes um but then he says why don't archaeologists just look and I was
- 24:45like yeah why don't they because you'd have to destroy it's probably not
- 24:51anything but then I'm like can't we just check in case yeah but but if you go
- 24:56there you don't you have to destroy sort of there to go and check they're not
- 25:00going to do I watched there's there's a YouTube video about this archaeologist
- 25:03and he was like I promise you we would [ __ ] love to right but first of all
- 25:10nobody is gonna give us money to do that right who is g to pay for that nobody cares
- 25:17right also yes we would have to blow a hole in the side of this ancient
- 25:23Monument to potentially find nothing and we' Destroy we've destroyed this
- 25:28beautiful artifact of a prehistoric mankind to find oh yeah no it was a
- 25:34volcano like we thought yeah yeah
- 25:38so but yeah why don't they why don't they it would it would be nice just to
- 25:44check like I said he no no that's the that's the problem with it is right
- 25:49there's there all these little nuggets of stuff because the places he goes to
- 25:52are real right yes like and the links he
- 25:57formed between things are
- 26:01tenuous but it's like maybe you say stuff with enough confidence I mean
- 26:08maybe but like we'll never know and so so for listeners who don't know his his
- 26:14thing is he thinks that there was an advanced civilization when he says
- 26:21Advanced this is a thing that people get tripped up on all the time when he says
- 26:25Advanced he means like mentally Advanced right they didn't have like skyscrapers
- 26:30and airplanes and stuff like that they were just like smarter than we give
- 26:36people credit for you know 10,000 years
- 26:39ago and they were wiped out by some
- 26:45Comet strike some of them survived and and scattered around the
- 26:51world and taught our ancient prehistoric
- 26:54ancestors uh Agriculture and how to build cool [ __ ] like the pyramids and go
- 27:01Beckley Tey and all that kind of stuff but again the problem with that theory
- 27:05is like it's very interesting and it's not it's not impossible we can't prove
- 27:10that it's not true but the problem with it
- 27:13is there's no evidence of these people existing anywhere at all
- 27:20ever so and a comet sh from 10,000 years
- 27:24ago that's not that long and I mean that might that's again it's it's like
- 27:30unfalsifiable that's the problem with it it's like it's like believing in in you
- 27:36know God or or you know if I tell you uh you know prove that prove they weren't
- 27:42ever unicorns you can't can't no it's impossible it's
- 27:48yeah so well now unicorns are real
- 27:51that's right and so was Atlantis mhm it wasn't just some an allegory that played
- 27:58made up to teach Athenians stop to stop being [ __ ]
- 28:02no real story that he heard
- 28:07about don't to stucked in because I I do know this
- 28:11path no no no I I I'll be honest I'm I really liked the show it was really
- 28:17entertaining but I know it's not real but it it's just still it's very like
- 28:22it's fun you know yes it's fun but that you have to be careful with this
- 28:26doubling stuff like that
- 28:29maybe gateway drug yeah maybe we'll see
- 28:34if if you know six months from now I'm I'm talking about you know our ancient
- 28:40ancestors you know actually something interesting I learned too right because
- 28:43I was trying to figure out people accuse him of um there not him specifically there are
- 28:50accusations that the belief in Atlantis and all this kind of historical stuff is
- 28:54racist and I was like what is what is that about where that come from it's because
- 29:01historically the idea of Atlantis has
- 29:03always been about how these really smart white
- 29:09people went and taught a bunch of silly you know dark skinned people how to do
- 29:15cool [ __ ] and it was actually I I didn't
- 29:20know this quite quite popular with the
- 29:24Nazis oh and and and apparently himler was all about Atlantis and literally
- 29:30wanted to go look for it in the North Sea and and then it took Hitler who was
- 29:34Hitler was apparently like dude that's [ __ ] stupid like stop it yeah we'll
- 29:39tell people that because it helps us but like stop it right I didn't know about
- 29:44any of that stuff so anyway that's why people have accused Hancock like I I
- 29:48don't think he is racist or I think he's just a weirdo who likes this stuff oh
- 29:53yeah because the other thing he doesn't mention in the TV
- 29:55show is that he also thinks these people with psychic oh but he doesn't mention any of
- 30:02that because that's that's too much got a bit too far yeah yeah yeah you have to
- 30:06read his books to know about that stuff apparently yeah yeah okay yeah because
- 30:11that's a big leap yeah anyway it's it's it's a
- 30:18fascinating and very deep rabbit hole that I've
- 30:23got maybe it's pretty good like for entertainment it's it's good
- 30:28like I give him credit he is a really
- 30:31good Storyteller and he's a very good he's very knowledgeable and he's very
- 30:38quick and and like I said in all the interviews I've seen where people try
- 30:42and like question him he's he's very good yeah which is a problem because
- 30:48afterwards you could sit down and go oh yeah that wasn't really quite right but
- 30:52he yeah he's very aggressively knowledgeable yeah I mean
- 30:57it's like someone ask a question he gets stumped he's always there like no what
- 31:01about this exactly he's always got something else to say and like he'll
- 31:04change the subject in a way where you you like don't quite
- 31:08catch sort of bring that up look a bit silly because when they get like and
- 31:13it's more but it's not responding because they don't know what to say it's
- 31:16how do I respond to something that is so wrong like it's yeah well like I said he
- 31:21does that thing he's like well you know obviously I've climbed the pyramids
- 31:24three times how many times have you been to the pyr oh you haven't been to the pyramids
- 31:29well why are we having this conversation
- 31:32like yeah stuff like that
- 31:36yeah all right anyway loved it all right I might watch thumbs up thumbs up on grahe
- 31:43Hancock very entertaining no I wish him well I really wish him well and know
- 31:48only for entertainment purposes it's not for no no because [ __ ] let him go at
- 31:54it honestly like at some point
- 31:58this is he's going to run out of [ __ ] so let him go
- 32:05honestly if he wants to spend his money on this stuff fine well he's also making
- 32:10money from it I'm sure he is yeah good point yes here has another documentary I haven't
- 32:16watched yet there's one about I think one about gockley Tey in particular that
- 32:21I haven't watched yet next I am going to keep following out
- 32:26hole okay so what else has been happening this
- 32:33week H the Mac turned 40
- 32:44which and I I was like oh wait a minute the 1984
- 32:49ad yeah that is right it doesn't it's I don't know for
- 32:56some reason my head is older
- 33:02I cursed his I cursed his I dropped out am I back yes you're back now yeah but it feels
- 33:09older because I had one when I was a kid and I know I'm old
- 33:17now no internet has dropped out a little bit son of a
- 33:24[ __ ] am I back you're back again why is this happening I'm sorry listeners let
- 33:30me try turn that off wonder if it's a
- 33:34Bluetooth I tried turning it on and off again W that's G to cause even more
- 33:39problems if I do that all right I can Vamp for a bit go
- 33:46on I can't I really can't I
- 33:53play it's hard when I'm dropping out and Dan's not here because it's like it's
- 33:57all the presses on you I know and I I don't know like do I keep talking or is
- 34:02it going to still pick up what you're saying apparently not if you watched
- 34:07last week's it was [ __ ] atrocious so second you pause I keep going I can do
- 34:12this that's right that's right yeah the Mac is 40 uh I couldn't believe it
- 34:17because I was like it can't I can't be that old but then I did the math and I
- 34:21remember you know the Ridley Scott 1984 TV commercial for when they were going
- 34:26to release the Macintosh I don't know for me for some reason the
- 34:30Mac is old older than me but it's not
- 34:35okay I mean it's not but two is older than you probably oh that's right that's
- 34:41why I'm getting confused the Macintosh in particular
- 34:46when did the apple two out turn my keyboard off just in apple
- 34:51two came out in 1977 so it's older than
- 34:56us okay is making more sense in my head now yeah did you ever have a
- 35:01Mac like like at school we had them I
- 35:07never owned one myself no I
- 35:09did really Apple Macintosh LC 575 what
- 35:15did you do on it I played Star Wars X-Wing on it oh oh okay so it was it was
- 35:20later did you play Johnny Quest yes yeah but it was quite interesting
- 35:27playing um x-ing on it cuz you play with arrow
- 35:32keys oh God something quite unique on a Macintosh at that that stage with arrow
- 35:38keys arrow keys are in a straight line yes so that was interesting yeah I bet
- 35:45you couldn't use the Mouse um I was probably the way I had it
- 35:49set up but the mouse wouldn't work for flying I had to fire off that so I had
- 35:54to fly using the keys and move to the m to shoot oh okay that's probably way I
- 36:01set up because I was quite young I used to use the keyboard to play Doom back
- 36:05when I was a kid which I know now seems like a crazy thing to do but uh it was
- 36:11only like fake 3D so I think it worked better well I still remember playing
- 36:16quake in high school a music like computer labs and we play with mouse and
- 36:21people would come in and play with us and they would still use keys keys and
- 36:25they would destroyed yeah you could just stand up there above them and
- 36:33not yeah no but yeah the max 40 you know
- 36:37Steve Jobs obviously uh gone now but
- 36:42uh I guess he'd be proud and there was a story that came out this week about him
- 36:47that made me laugh where this photographer was paid a lot of money and
- 36:52flown out to take photos of him in a helicopter in uh in Sweden I think
- 36:58and then when they were in the helicopter the photographer got his
- 37:02camera ready to go and Steve said oh I don't think I want any photos taken of
- 37:06me today and the guy said okay uh I've been paid to come in
- 37:12and Steve was like yeah I don't care I I don't think I want any photos and then
- 37:17the guy's like all right waited a bit and then he got his camera again Steve
- 37:20said I don't want any [ __ ] photos taken not feeling it
- 37:26today gu was like I'm getting paid anyway yeah
- 37:32whatever he was a Steve was a bit like that he just did not
- 37:37care no no definitely not I I don't think I would like Steve
- 37:44Jobs I think if Steve Jobs liked you he'd be
- 37:49great but if you annoyed him he would be a [ __ ] nightmare well I still just
- 37:54remember the story of the first iPod M he's got like smaller and they've G this
- 38:00is as small as we can get it so he picked up the iPod dropped it in fish
- 38:03tank and went see those bubbles you can make it
- 38:09smaller oh God I don't know if that's true it's a story I've heard but yeah I
- 38:14don't I don't know if I worked with him no no no no sorry I would never want to
- 38:20work for him yeah with him depending but not for
- 38:24him well even with him at the time you hear the stories of when he worked at
- 38:28Atari and basically you're on the night shift because you don't wash yeah
- 38:35yeah and he put his feet in the toilet to relax
- 38:40that's I know that from you telling me I don't know how true that is I'm pretty
- 38:44sure it's true it could well be all right we got to find out we'll fact
- 38:49check it right now Steve Jobs toilet feet yeah I mean he was a nut I always
- 38:56remember the um when the iPhone 4 came out and it had the um the metal band
- 39:01around the outside and you could block the antenna by if you were holding it
- 39:07upor like this with you kind of cupping the whole thing it would you'd lose all your
- 39:12reception and at first he he released a statement he was like [ __ ] you you're
- 39:18holding it wrong and and then it was would then forced to release the like
- 39:24bumper case for it to stop people from doing that and he hated that that had to
- 39:30happen had to happen right I can't confirm it but the late Steve Jobs would
- 39:35B his feet in toilet water of the Apple restrooms to distress according to his
- 39:40authorized biography by Walter isacon okay that's funny though I've
- 39:46read that book I don't remember that detail there's a lot of things I'm read
- 39:51saying that yes this is true okay fine fine did it have to be toilet water did
- 39:57Walter isacson ask I bet he
- 40:00didn't he put his feet in the toilet
- 40:05okay why the toilet though why did he wash and like why
- 40:10isn't Walter isacson asking him these questions all right okay
- 40:14Steve could it have not been you know like a foot Spar yeah just a foot Spar
- 40:20something purpose built a bucket not a [ __ ]
- 40:25toilet why she treating toilet some sometimes to relieve stress yeah reading
- 40:29a lot of stuff that says yes to relieve stress yep do you know what wouldn't
- 40:33relieve stress for me putting noticing that my feet were in the [ __ ]
- 40:40toilet that would actually raise my
- 40:44stress become very stressed under those
- 40:52circumstances I guess that's why I didn't invent the iPod yes H it's why
- 40:58you didn't bring a company back from bankruptcy that's true I mean he did do
- 41:04that say say what you want about him he has done stuff yeah did do stuff he's
- 41:09not likely to do anymore but no well unless we do I summon two and then he
- 41:15might make our podcast successful
- 41:19yes but no he's a it happens with a lot of people like that they they may not be
- 41:25very nice but they're very good at what they Doo yeah yeah yeah he was he was a he was an
- 41:32ass yes putting it
- 41:36nicely the story about him um buying a new car every whatever six months like a
- 41:43new Mercedes CN put the plates plate on or yeah yeah there's a grace period
- 41:49where you didn't have to put the plates on so own that amount of money where
- 41:54just don't want a number PL buying a new car like I don't even care about the
- 41:59license ples but it would be nice to have enough money that I could be like
- 42:02well now I care
- 42:07yeah have you seen this so Microsoft is after buying everyone Under the Sun is
- 42:13now firing everyone I did see this that's it's a lot of people they've laid
- 42:19off yeah almost almost 2,000 people right it's a lot yeah
- 42:26and so sort of seems a bit weird well I can also understand it but also seems
- 42:31weird to me at the same time because they brought all these Studios because
- 42:35they're ramping up and look what we're going to do but then when you buy a lot
- 42:39of these Studios you're going to have a lot of people where you're doubling up on
- 42:43staff yeah so do we know from where are these people I
- 42:49haven't been able to work that out for me in my head it would be a lot of not
- 42:54sort of like deps or anything it' be more sort of H type work and stuff like
- 42:59that because oh
- 43:03okay' already got so you we have a HR department so we don't need you anymore
- 43:09yeah okay okay all right that that's in my head though I don't no but I'm not
- 43:14saying I'm not saying you know that's great and [ __ ] those people but that
- 43:18does make some sense compared yeah it's sort of what happens like you got your
- 43:21heads and you like HR well you can B it all and then you've got
- 43:27but there's not 2,000 people are in HR like that's it's not 10% of your
- 43:32companies not HR did you just this I put this article in the other week um this
- 43:38is like sort of a segue but we never I don't think we ever talked about this um
- 43:44we' talked about Unity you know the Game Dev the game engine company yes that
- 43:48caus elect Dr a little while ago tried to screw everyone over by
- 43:52charging so in 2021 they purchased weter
- 43:57digital right the the Peter Jackson special effects company that made lot of
- 44:02the Rings and everything like that but when they did it right at the time they
- 44:07split the company into weter digital and then uh some other company [Music]
- 44:14called uh wther effects right so they
- 44:17gave they they they gave sold to
- 44:21Unity W digital which was all the um
- 44:25kind of uh the the the VFX tools and
- 44:29okay you know Tech stuff but they kept a bunch of other stuff as part of the
- 44:36sweater effects company right Unity
- 44:38bought it didn't do anything with it and
- 44:43then um fired them all which meant because of the Clauses in the
- 44:50contract Peter Jackson just hired them
- 44:52all back them back and so like basically
- 44:58I'm trying to what's the figure here basically Peter Jackson made this is the
- 45:04[ __ ] figure here it's like billions of dollars $
- 45:091.625 billion Unity paid Peter Jackson 1.625 billion for this company to do
- 45:15nothing and nothing changed for him then fired them all and then he hired them
- 45:22back so he's got what what the [ __ ] one and a half billion
- 45:27for nothing for nothing he literally got a free $ 1.625 billion maybe that's why
- 45:33they're trying to make charge everyone like to pay pay money because I was
- 45:37trying to make that money back because if you're just going to waste money like
- 45:40that like what the
- 45:42[ __ ] that's so bizarre anyway I just the
- 45:47Microsoft thing reminded me of that like good for
- 45:52Peter why can't someone pay us $1.5 billion or something
- 45:57we'd have to do something of value Luke not not whatever this
- 46:03is maybe grah Hancock will pay us money grahe if you're listening I love you
- 46:09y I know you're on Joe Rogan a lot but if you ever want to come on this podcast
- 46:14as well you're welcome here we'd love to have you I promise not to ask any you
- 46:20know good questions no he wants you to ask good
- 46:24questions he would destroy me exactly and that makes him
- 46:29better yeah he doesn't want someone who agrees with him if you get someone who
- 46:33agrees with him that's not good entertainment he's gonna try and
- 46:38question him because he's just gonna go what about this what about this what
- 46:41about this and I'll go I haven't heard of that oh haven't you heard of that
- 46:45interesting so why are you talking to me about this
- 46:49then anyway I do feel bad for these people losing their jobs and this is
- 46:53also why I never work in the gaming industry
- 46:58I mean this any right I mean probably not to
- 47:02you um a lot in the gaming industry no been you you you in particular have a
- 47:09job that's quite fine but yeah yeah the gaming industry is very tough yeah yeah
- 47:16because I did have an option to I nearly
- 47:18did work for um 2K Australia oh really
- 47:23because I were based like near where I am oh right no no no you're right down
- 47:29there yeah yeah okay and I was looking at it and then I didn't and I'm happy I
- 47:33did because like a year later is when they went there's no more 2K Australia
- 47:37yeah yeah it's very Cutthroat it's like the film industry almost where they you
- 47:42you're almost hired for a project and then at the end of the project or maybe
- 47:48even in the middle of the project you might just be out of work yeah well you
- 47:53look at Team Bondi like yeah they made Noir a great game it came out and then
- 47:59they went we don't need te bond
- 48:03anymore yeah yeah well um somebody I
- 48:07used to work with here uh I'm be careful what I
- 48:13say did recruiting for game development companies and they had high
- 48:20turnover and they would basically hire for projects yeah and then at the end of
- 48:26the project it was kind of up in the air whether you
- 48:29were going to be able to continue on or you know yeah well it is the whole
- 48:35industry is like you're working on a game then you get close to release you
- 48:39ramp up and then release the game and then you got fix some stuff but then
- 48:43that's it that game's out and then you're starting again from scratch and
- 48:47yeah because in theory that team is done now yes like yeah and that's what that's
- 48:53why I don't think I could do it because you've always going to have your resume
- 48:55up to date and always be ready for what's next they're not all like that
- 49:00that like to be fair it just is quite common to be like that yeah and this
- 49:06this last couple years it has been quite bad has been lay off sort of everywhere
- 49:10yeah yeah I'll just play the other thing I heard that was kind of crazy is the
- 49:17they tie bonuses to Metacritic have you heard about this yes that's [ __ ] wild
- 49:24I think that's um C Project R B big on that I think that's [ __ ] insane
- 49:30because it's like Google reviews you can't trust these people for me it
- 49:35should just be directly related to sales
- 49:40likeable or not even not even just like like milestones in like like development
- 49:46milestones or or whatever you know thinkig what the bonuses were seure
- 49:50Project Read but I think a lot of people went like yeah we did all this and I
- 49:54brought a house like I'm now yeah right
- 49:58okay well okay maybe it's worth it then but they will yeah look I'm not
- 50:04doing it I'm not doing it either I mean not that I've been offering a job with a
- 50:09game development company but both probably could go get a job at
- 50:14one of them probably yeah yeah but then it's like you know it's turning your
- 50:21hobby into a yeah a job I don't think yeah if I was going to make a game
- 50:27I want to make different my game not someone else's game that's very
- 50:31different to making a game to working in the industry I think like because yeah
- 50:35you're making something that's yours yeah compared to he go and make this
- 50:41part of this game yeah and luckily I'm too lazy to do that so
- 50:47yes as am I lazy SL busy we'll call it busy I'm too busy watching grah
- 50:54Hancock I I I'm I'm just I'm lazy I'm
- 50:58honest I play games I watch stuff did I mention not about graah Hancock but
- 51:04about when I was listening to the the actual historical stuff on the rest is
- 51:08history y I was surprised by how many
- 51:14things were in Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis the video
- 51:18game I thought they made a lot of that up for the game but it is actually a lot
- 51:25of it is based on like not historical
- 51:29fact but yeah yeah exactly it's made up it's based on the the the Plato's story
- 51:36that he told and the follow-ups from it it's quite quite interesting including
- 51:41the fact that the Nazis were interested in it right which is obviously a big
- 51:44part of the Indiana Jones thing yeah right that's true I didn't realize that
- 51:50they actually were interested in it so even fact they were going to go there
- 51:55if they won the war Yeah well yeah they were too busy at the
- 52:00time and Hitler was like I'm not not bothering with this [ __ ] but had they W
- 52:04the moment but had they won he might have just let him go at it go do what
- 52:10you got to do he was into all that stuff
- 52:13you like all that weird like C he was the maybe I shouldn't say this he was
- 52:20the Graham Hancock of the 1940s okay we're definitely not getting
- 52:25grah Han
- 52:30you just that's gone not fine he knows I'm joking he knows I'm
- 52:37joking I'm sure he's got a sense of humor doesn't have a sense of
- 52:42humor we can stick with story around that time or sort of Oppenheimer is now
- 52:47to sweep all the awards yeah probably uh I think it will
- 52:53I don't think it deserves them really I know I know that
- 52:59I'm I I out of the three of us enjoyed it the most for whatever reason I not
- 53:05say I enjoyed it no no no no I know I know but I was I was kind of gushing
- 53:10about it and you guys were kind of like yeah it was fine but also I knew it's
- 53:14going to win it's definitely an Oscar movie and it's going to win lots but
- 53:18yeah I don't like Oscar movies in generally did you watch parasite did you
- 53:23ever watch that oh God it's very good I remember Donald Trump being upset about
- 53:29it all the more reason to watch it I think he was upset about it because it
- 53:34was a foreign film that one best movie it's like they've already got their own
- 53:39award so why don't you go winning a Korean award [ __ ] off it's a great movie
- 53:46really good movie anyway Oppenheimer also really good movie up for 13 Academy
- 53:50Awards that's quite a
- 53:53lot quite a lot I will be
- 53:59oh I want lud gson to win best picture because I don't know that they're gonna
- 54:04let me vote in any official capacity but I will be supporting
- 54:09him I don't even know like who else is up for like best
- 54:13movie SN Barbie how Barbie did not get nominated okay so this has been a big
- 54:19news story this week that Barbie sorry particularly Greta Gerwig did not get
- 54:24nominated for best director for Barbie and I am like
- 54:29I why would she be I don't understand I
- 54:34don't understand I know that I'm like I'm like inverse to you guys on this
- 54:38whereas you guys were like bobbie's great oppenheim is
- 54:42fine Barbie was just forgettable I don't
- 54:47understand why people if I have a choice to watch any of this movies again I'm
- 54:51going Barbie I will never ever watch Barbie again I just it was just it was a
- 54:56nothing it I laughed it was fine Ryan goling was funny in it like it was who
- 55:02understand someone who's going to vote for Oscar movies now I'm I absolutely
- 55:07will be voting for the things they'll let me vote for I'll V vote let a little
- 55:13bit I get a little bit I get a little bit of a say and opheim is gonna be
- 55:17winning but but but like I just don't
- 55:24understand see I think the thing I keep forgetting is the Oscars are not
- 55:29for the people who watch movies the Oscars are for people I mean
- 55:35it's for some people who watch movies just not not the general
- 55:39public oh yeah okay that that yeah okay that's true yeah that's true that's why
- 55:45they're trying to Rice it up now like the the audience pick and stuff like
- 55:49that because people are starting to get a point what that the Oscars aren't a
- 55:53bigger thing for the general audience I don't feel because
- 55:56the movies that are winning are all good are not the movies that The General
- 56:00audience really so much enjoy
- 56:04sure but
- 56:10like was bobie that good like do you like honestly good this is honest
- 56:15question I'm not being stupid I'm not being factious right do you really think
- 56:19if if it was up for like movie of the year and there was only two choices and
- 56:25it was Barbie and you would say Barbie is the movie of the
- 56:29year for me yes over those two movies but it deserves to be nominated at the very
- 56:35least if you look at the biggest movies of last
- 56:41year biggest in what sense excite excitement people looking forward to
- 56:46seeing it people enjoying it people talking about it yeah making money like
- 56:51meet a lot sure but that I mean that's not what these are but but yeah yeah
- 56:55yeah yeah oh yeah I get you like by that token by that token Marvel's some of
- 57:00Marvel's stuff should have been movie of the year right like endgame and infinity
- 57:05War like but you gotta look at away but they're not gonna win movie of the year
- 57:12but it's it's yeah but that's the thing like it's like Ant-Man no people spoke about
- 57:19it but people no no no no no no I'm saying that's fine I'm saying stuff like
- 57:24stuff like when when when when end game came out right everybody [ __ ] was
- 57:30talking about it everybody loved it it was amazing it was fantastic it's not
- 57:33going to win an Academy Award for best picture though I know because it's not
- 57:37about the enjoying the movie
- 57:41yeah yeah okay I think maybe I'm just too like
- 57:48I've been into this stuff for too long but
- 57:51like I get what you mean yeah yeah okay like it's it's yeah as I said so the
- 57:57people who make the movies that's what these awards for yeah you're right
- 58:01you're right that's why I saying when people were like oh why isn't Barbie
- 58:04nominated I'm like why would it be but then I get what you're
- 58:09saying like like it made buddy people loved it people went and saw it people
- 58:15were talking about it like it's yeah yeah why wouldn't it be
- 58:21nominated because because
- 58:27it was just a like a fine funny movie like it's not Oscar bait there's a
- 58:32particular type of movie that we why wasn't the Wedding Singer up for best
- 58:37picture because it's like it I don't know I put them in the same category
- 58:43like it's just a funny movie it's why comedies don't
- 58:48win yeah yeah if it's funny not F Oscars how
- 58:54many practical atomic expion are in Barbie I still say that explosion was
- 59:00pretty crap it could have done with some added effects really I was disappointed
- 59:06by it I really was okay they spoke about like it's all practical effects got to
- 59:12be made I went
- 59:17no yeah I think they made too much of a fuss about it they didn't say it's all
- 59:20practical effects and it's going to be amazing they just said it's it was
- 59:23filmed practically yeah and then refused to explain how which annoyed me at the
- 59:29time because I was like what does that mean and it turns out did you drop it at atomic
- 59:33bomb yeah obviously they didn't and then when I saw it I was like fine yeah it's
- 59:39good I didn't notice it could have been digital it could have been not digital it's quite
- 59:46it's an achievement I guess to have not done it digitally yeah but also have it
- 59:52be the same as it as if it was that
- 59:57but it's like yeah I don't know what the point of it could have
- 1:00:01just yeah yeah didn't blow me away wink
- 1:00:07wink tell you who it did blow away the Oscars the people who vote for the
- 1:00:12Oscars I was gonna say the Japanese but
- 1:00:18twice yeah
- 1:00:23um yeah they're playing that in cuz I I believe theyig weren't gonna play it
- 1:00:27there and then they saw and went hold on this isn't glorifying well yeah they
- 1:00:32just understandably wanted to make sure it didn't you
- 1:00:37know yeah I mean it doesn't talk about the Japanese at all to be honest other
- 1:00:43than to say we Dropped a Bomb of them and felt
- 1:00:47bad about it yes so yeah yeah yeah but I can understand why they were wanting to
- 1:00:53make sure because oh yeah definitely it's an American movie and America's
- 1:00:58quite often yay America yeah yes and
- 1:01:02they might have made Japan look bad
- 1:01:06yes I mean they were bad in World War II but you know you know what I mean yeah
- 1:01:12but no that I think they did it quite well they don't want to talk about that
- 1:01:16they're got to win they're got to win an Oscar for it
- 1:01:20yes what's It Up Japan is going to win
- 1:01:22an Academy Award for best actor supporting
- 1:01:28actor in World War
- 1:01:32II the best actor was the bomb best
