- 0:47before we get Nelson and figure out he's sitting waiting calmly
- 0:49and carefully. That Gilbert Arena story makes
- 0:52me absolutely laugh. Are you that dumb?
- 0:57Are you really that it's? Gilbert Arena, Duh.
- 1:00He is absolutely stupid. 30 for 30.
- 1:03They just put it on Netflix. He just admitted that he made he
- 1:07did wrong. He was going across, you know,
- 1:10different places all over the country and moving guns from one
- 1:14place to another. And then really is the reason
- 1:18why why somebody got thrown into jail because of the way he
- 1:20picked on people in a locker room and he was a clown in the
- 1:23locker room. And then this story comes out
- 1:25and he's doing something illegal again.
- 1:27Not surprised for the one and only Gilbert friggin Arenas.
- 1:31What an idiot, honestly. And he's going to get away with
- 1:34it because he's got mucho De Niro.
- 1:37Why do you need to do so many stupid things?
- 1:40You're made, you've made millions and millions of
- 1:42dollars, and now you're doing poker games in your basement
- 1:45that are illegal. It's just, it's so stupid.
- 1:48It's dumb and stupid. Speaking of great, Don't be a
- 1:52clown sitting on trashed rentals or homes from hell.
- 1:56Don't be. Don't be a clown.

- 2:23he's been on a show quite a few times.
- 2:24We love him. He's got a great personality.
- 2:27And yes, ladies and gentlemen, he's won a couple of Emmys as
- 2:31our last guest, the one, the only nine year MLB pitcher, Emmy
- 2:36award-winning Co host Nelson Figueroa.
- 2:39Nelson What's up, man? What's up boys?
- 2:42How's it been going? You look good, man.
- 2:44I mean, you're you're not dressed in the suits like you
- 2:46usually are, looking sexy in front of the camera.
- 2:50And you should be excited because because your team or
- 2:53your former team made some pretty good moves so far and
- 2:58might make one or two moves before tomorrow.
- 3:00Your thoughts to the Mets moves and what do you think they have
- 3:04up their sleeves before the trade deadline?
- 3:06Well, I mean, without a doubt, they're just overnight, have an
- 3:11elite bullpen. You think about Gregory Soto,
- 3:15you know, left-handed, a guy who even, you know, Josh Chisholm
- 3:20said it was one of the toughest lefties he's ever faced.
- 3:23Yes, he had a bad game the other night.
- 3:24The 1-2 pitch left it over the middle 98 miles an hour and it
- 3:28got deposited into left field. They lose the game, but he's
- 3:30going to have more success and he's going to have failure.
- 3:32This guy has tremendous stuff. That was the beginning piece
- 3:35right now, all of a sudden you got these two arms and Rogers
- 3:38and Hasley. I mean, you talk about a closer
- 3:42who saved over 40 games just a year ago with has still has
- 3:46tremendous stuff. 2 rentals. The Rogers one to me was a
- 3:51little bit surprising about the amount that they paid for the
- 3:53rental. Don't get me wrong, Rogers is a
- 3:55unique talent. 1.8 ER Rays got 38 strikeouts to four walks.
- 4:00Doesn't walk guys. You don't have to worry about
- 4:01him in big pressure situations. The funky arm angle from down
- 4:05below and the frisbees moving upwards makes him a tough at bat
- 4:09against anybody. And that's the different look
- 4:11that you want to have right than the all the power arms going
- 4:14back-to-back to back late in the ball game.
- 4:16So I thought it was a very nice trade.
- 4:19The two pieces to get tonight for me, the Rogers one was a
- 4:23little bit steep. When you think about three guys,
- 4:26one who's a Major League caliber who can start relieved right
- 4:30now, you can plug them right into your rotation.
- 4:33Also the other two guys, Tidwell was one of their guys that were
- 4:37up and coming. They gave him some chances.
- 4:39He hasn't really panned out as of yet.
- 4:41And then of course, the outfielder who drew that, they
- 4:46were very high on going into this season to see him go for a
- 4:51rental, three guys for a rental, was a little bit rich for that
- 4:54blood and not be a closer type per SE.
- 4:57But you got to admit the stuff plays and plays well against any
- 5:00match up. So Speaking of outfielders,
- 5:02they've been in the market too for center fielder.
- 5:04We've heard Cedric Mullins, Louise Roberts, obviously the
- 5:06big name that they're pushing for that.
- 5:08Apparently the White Sox wanted Vientos in that deal, but now
- 5:11they're trying to make it work without it.
- 5:12What would you do at the? Center field position, Yeah,
- 5:16center field position again. I think if you can get Cedric
- 5:18Mullins a little bit cheaper than what they're asking for for
- 5:22Luis Robert. I like both players.
- 5:25I do. Mullen, again, he made an
- 5:28unbelievable catch. I don't know if it was tonight
- 5:30or yesterday. We showed it all on the
- 5:32highlight. That was a great catch.
- 5:34A guy who plays hard, knows how to run the bases as well.
- 5:38Luis, we saw great things out of him his rookie year.
- 5:40Since then, he's fallen off like a lot of the White Sox players,
- 5:44which is, you know, a shame. And sometimes you get used to
- 5:47that culture. You get used to that clubhouse
- 5:49and and maybe just a change of scenery wakes you up, you know,
- 5:52brings you back to life. And it's a possibility with
- 5:55either one of those guys. You're looking for an offensive
- 5:58upgrade over Tyrone Taylor, who is fantastic with the glove, but
- 6:03he has a liability with the bat. And so you like having Tyrone as
- 6:06your 4th outfield to bring him in as a defensive replacement,
- 6:09wherever that last guy makes the, you know, last out in the
- 6:11seventh, you can bring him in for the last two innings to lock
- 6:15things down defensively. But I think Mullins, for me, I
- 6:19think it is, is a better fit. I just think there's too many
- 6:22question marks with Robert and his effort.
- 6:24We've seen that time and time again.
- 6:26That's always been brought up, a guy who has amazing ability.
- 6:30Reminds me a lot of of Puig where it was amazing ability,
- 6:34but there's something not all the way there.
- 6:36And do you have time to let that come into your clubhouse and,
- 6:40you know, change the chemistry that's already going on there?
- 6:44I think Cedric Mullins is a much better fit.
- 6:46Do you think Nelson, that they kind of with the Rogers
- 6:50obviously most appearances since 2020, do you think they
- 6:53handcuffed themselves a little bit giving away, you know, that
- 6:57their system in the way they did it to get that center fielder
- 7:00because seeing what they did and the guys that they threw in for
- 7:04that and I don't necessarily find a thrown in all three,
- 7:08maybe 2. But do you think they can put
- 7:10themselves a little bit to get that next tier center fielder?
- 7:14And in a way where it's now it's like, OK, well, asking prices
- 7:17going up now that you're you're getting rid of these and guys
- 7:20are coming off the board, you think they kind of strap
- 7:22themselves. A little bit.
- 7:24I think when you look at it, I, I immediately when I was in the
- 7:27prospect list to see exactly what those two guys were on the
- 7:29Mets prospect list, they were already removed and put on the
- 7:33Giants prospect list. They ranked 12th and 13th right
- 7:36now for the Giants prospects. When you talk about Drew Gilbert
- 7:38and Blake Tidwell, of course Bhutto is going to be in the
- 7:43major leagues. He's going to be, whether it's
- 7:45starting or leaving, you know, he can do both kind of that Seth
- 7:47Lugo kind of feel that he, if had the opportunity to start,
- 7:51you know, he could be a, a pretty good starter, especially
- 7:54nowadays starters are only going 5 innings Max anyway.
- 7:58But as a reliever, you know, he's got a, a guy with a really
- 8:01good breaking ball, really good change up and he he had some
- 8:04success, at least that you can say, Hey, there's something
- 8:07still there for me. I I don't know.
- 8:10I think they have a lot of prospects that they were really
- 8:13fortunate enough to recoup for the Verlanders and the
- 8:17Scherzers. And when they got that crop for
- 8:20the first time in a long time, you have 10 guys that you could
- 8:23see in a Major League uniform. And you have seen, I mean, you
- 8:26look at the young Mets that have come up, you know, besides
- 8:30Vientos and besides Alvarez, the young guys that have come up
- 8:33like Acuna, the you got Beatty, you've got Mauricio, the three
- 8:36headed monster at third base right now.
- 8:39So you have a plethora and a surplus in certain areas.
- 8:42But it's almost as if you don't want to choose the wrong one
- 8:45because that Pete Crow Armstrong trade is looking real suspect
- 8:49right about now, right to go get Javi Baez.
- 8:51But it was a win down right. We didn't know that Pete Crow
- 8:55was put up a 3030 season so quickly.
- 8:59You know, he wasn't nobody ever gave the comp that Pete Crow
- 9:02Armstrong would be a 3030 guy. The comp was always Mark Kopse.
- 9:07You know that if if you're going to go get Holly bias to try and
- 9:11fortify your team at that time of the deadline and you've said,
- 9:15hey, Pete grow could be a barkatze type out fielder, then
- 9:18you know, good for them that he developed and he showed up so
- 9:22much power that I didn't think that they knew about.
- 9:24They knew he had a a good stick, but I don't think they knew that
- 9:27he had thirty home run power in him.
- 9:29And of course, it's the first time through the league when it
- 9:31happens like that right now, the league gets to make adjustments.
- 9:34We Vientos is feeling the wrath of that in year 2, Of course.
- 9:38So you know when you get that little guy coming up and you
- 9:40think, ah, I just told him a high fastball and let him hit a
- 9:43fly ball. That ain't the new baseball no
- 9:45more, right. That was just that used to be
- 9:47the the for us, the scouting report without even getting a
- 9:50scouting report. He's a little slap hitting
- 9:52leadoff guy. It's just what are you willing
- 9:54to give up at this point? And like, I was very floored
- 9:58about the Phillies deal. Like that to me was a much
- 10:02better deal to get Duran that it's a multiple year deal.
- 10:07It's not a rental. This guy's going to be a Philly
- 10:10until 2028. And you know what kind of plus
- 10:12stuff he has at the back end of the bullpen.
- 10:14We are talking to former 9 year MLB pitcher, Emmy award-winning
- 10:17Co host Nelson Figueroa. He's been on our show many, many
- 10:20times. We love him.
- 10:22Great personality. Speaking of no love here in New
- 10:25York, especially for the Yankee fans, is Juan Soto.
- 10:28And Juan Soto has said, or we haven't had you on the show
- 10:34since what he said before the All Star game.
- 10:37There was a lot of interesting comments that he made about what
- 10:41he thinks he should be and why he should have made the All Star
- 10:45team. And it why shouldn't I want to
- 10:48be on the All Star team? I would have, I'd be $100,000
- 10:51richer then. This guy's making 60 million a
- 10:54year. He really made himself look bad.
- 10:57We have attacked him on this show plenty of time.
- 10:59Speedy is a Met fan. Jabba was obviously an ex Yankee
- 11:03and I don't think he hates the Mets.
- 11:05Me, I don't hate the Mets, but I, I'm not too fond.
- 11:08I was never fond to want Soda here with the Yankees either,
- 11:11just so you know. So it has nothing to do with me
- 11:14and Juan Soda not liking him because he left to go to the
- 11:17Mets. But this guy, this guy's an
- 11:20egotistical, crazy SOB and he makes himself look so very bad
- 11:26when he opens his mouth. Just play the game.
- 11:28That's what I want to say about play the game.
- 11:31Play the way you like to play and you're going to win a lot of
- 11:34games and you're going to put up really, really good numbers.
- 11:36Look what happened him recently because of that buddy, he can't.
- 11:40The umpires are calling strikes when they're not strikes and
- 11:43then he's complaining and now it's only going to make it's
- 11:46only going to hurt him worse as they move forward into the
- 11:48playoffs because this might happen again because the guy
- 11:51doesn't shut up. Your thoughts to Juan Soto and
- 11:55why do you think Juan Soto doesn't know when to shut his
- 11:57mouth? I'll.
- 11:58Go first on the $100,000 bonus for making the All Star team.
- 12:02A little bit of sarcasm was thrown in there, obviously.
- 12:04Like he needs the $100,000. I, I get it, you're talking to
- 12:09reporters who are living paycheck to paycheck.
- 12:11Possibly it, it loves people the wrong way.
- 12:13But at the same time, it's called sarcasm.
- 12:15I mean, I, I think you realize he's not hurting for the 100
- 12:17grand. Did he deserve to make the All
- 12:20Star team? Absolutely.
- 12:21He's one of the faces of baseball and he's leading he's
- 12:24leading all right fielders in home runs and you know, top
- 12:27three in RB is I blame the fans. So let's get this straight.
- 12:32I don't blame baseball for not selecting him.
- 12:34I blame the fans for not voting him in.
- 12:37Steve Cohen went out there and spent 750 plus $1,000,000 to
- 12:40bring you a superstar in his prime and he came to New York
- 12:44and the Chicago Cubs had two of the three outfielders for the
- 12:48All Star game because their fans outvoted met fans.
- 12:51Plain and simple. It was easy.
- 12:53All you had to do was vote Juan Soto.
- 12:55But you know what, everybody thought he's going to be an All
- 12:57Star anyway. Or they were pissed off because
- 13:00of the way that he started and that slow trajectory.
- 13:03And this guy is so overpaid and blah, blah, blah.
- 13:05But remember what he did in the month of June, The month of
- 13:08June, he turned it on. His OPS was over 1100.
- 13:11He he, you know, all of a sudden wins player of the month.
- 13:15How do you do all that and not make the All Star team?
- 13:17But Jazz Chisholm makes the All Star team, batting 250 with, you
- 13:21know, 17 home runs. So there's a lot, there's a lot
- 13:24left to be desired. Oh, gets put in the Home Run
- 13:26Derby, too. That was fantastic.
- 13:36I can't stand. So when you're talking, wait,
- 13:39when you're talking about guys that run their mouth and open
- 13:41their mouths, there's no comparison in the 2.
- 13:44So let's be very, very clear with that.
- 13:46The other guy has done it at the Major League level and at an
- 13:49elite level for a long time, not just in the regular season but
- 13:52in the playoffs as well. Remember as a 19 year old, him
- 13:55staring down future Hall of Farmers in Grenke and Verlander
- 13:59and challenging them to throw their best pitch and then
- 14:02depositing it 430 feet up in the upper deck.
- 14:04So Juan Soto has earned the right to tell an umpire, I don't
- 14:09think that was a strike. And when you watch the tape,
- 14:11they weren't strikes. OK, so let's be clear.
- 14:15So as the as the person who has the best eye in baseball, the
- 14:19guy who controls the at bat better than anybody who knows
- 14:22the strike zone, does he push the envelope?
- 14:24Yeah. Brandon Nemo used to do the same
- 14:26thing all the time. He 3/2.
- 14:27He just start walking off thinking I know the strikes are
- 14:30better than the umpire. And there are umpires that take
- 14:32onus to that when you're talking about having the ability to say
- 14:35something. He was respectful about it the
- 14:37first time. Let him know because it happened
- 14:39to Lindor, It happened to Nemo right after that.
- 14:41And then the one that really got everybody's goose was the
- 14:44fastball elevated about neck high that he calls strike three
- 14:48and then stares him down waiting for him to say something so he
- 14:52could throw, you know, toss him out the game.
- 14:54That's where you have a problem with the umpires.
- 14:56Listen, if an umpire is going to be bad and he's bad both ways,
- 14:59then he's just bad. But it's the inconsistency of a
- 15:02guy throwing at the top of the zone, calls it a strike one
- 15:05time, then all of a sudden a breaking ball comes at the top
- 15:07of the zone and now he's going to call that 1A strike.
- 15:09The other one was a ball. It it just doesn't it's it's a
- 15:12bad feel for the team and someone's going to stand up for
- 15:15it. Whether Lindor had a little bit
- 15:16to say. I think every battery.
- 15:18So even if even for the Padres. Listen, I'm not saying this guy
- 15:21was only going out for Soto and the Mets, But I mean, you know
- 15:24what, Soto's in a slump. The top of the lineup's in a
- 15:26slump. They got to do something to wake
- 15:28it up. Mendoza went out there, bit the
- 15:30bullet, got tossed, got his argument.
- 15:32And at the end of the day, Ron Soto is about one thing and it's
- 15:36about trying to be the best Juan Soto that there will ever be and
- 15:41about winning. We've seen him do it at almost
- 15:43at every front, right? Got to the playoffs with every
- 15:45team. He's been to his World Series
- 15:47ring, you know, very early in his career.
- 15:50So he's been there and done that in a way that no other person
- 15:54can obviously say. I mean, Albert pool host is the
- 15:56guy that comes to mind of a where he ranked, you know what
- 15:59the numbers that he was putting up.
- 16:01He doesn't have the power numbers of of a pool host as of
- 16:04yet. But this is a kid who's only 26
- 16:06years old that is learning, learning how to hit the home run
- 16:10ball all over the field. And that's a dangerous thing.
- 16:13When he can be so patient and so quiet and able to hit that ball
- 16:17when it gets deeper and deeper into the zone, he's going to be
- 16:20a problem for a decade to come. Nelson just a pretty
- 16:24perspective. Errol would probably much rather
- 16:25take Juan Soto on his team. Rotary's Valve.
- 16:27And jazz jism. No, what I really want to know.
- 16:30What I really want to know is where that umpire got his
- 16:33haircut. Because Supercuts.
- 16:36Had to be. That is one of the ugliest.
- 16:38Haircuts. I've ever Maybe it's where Mark
- 16:40Davis gets his haircuts. All right, switch it back to the
- 16:45to the Mets starting rotation. Now we've seen they're having
- 16:48some issues with length, especially when Senga was going
- 16:50down to obviously Peterson's. I'm very good with efficiency
- 16:53wise, getting the ground balls, especially he's getting a
- 16:55little. But the the length of sides
- 16:57that's been kind of questionable.
- 16:58Do you think it could be a deadline move for them?
- 17:00Do you think it's maybe it's an approach that the pitching has
- 17:02to take with Jeremy Heffner? What are your thoughts with the
- 17:04Mets starting rotation right now?
- 17:06I have loved the experiment of Clay Holmes.
- 17:09I think it's a a it's been a win thus far, but you're starting to
- 17:14see the effects of it, right? It's the most hitting he's ever
- 17:16pitched at the Major League level as a pitcher, let alone a
- 17:20starter. The the sinker isn't was
- 17:24ineffective. His last start today, the ball's
- 17:27up in the zone. He's only throwing 9293 miles an
- 17:29hour. That's not the Clay Holmes we
- 17:31knew as a closer throwing the 98 plus mile an hour bowling ball
- 17:34sinker that was, you know, almost impossible to hit and
- 17:37impossible to layoff of. I have loved seeing him adapt
- 17:42and being able to throw this kick change four times in a row
- 17:46to a lefty and getting out and then save his, you know, bread
- 17:49and butter pitches for later on in the game.
- 17:51He's been he's he's he's been a really nice addition.
- 17:55I am of the ilk and I know he wanted to be a starter and I
- 17:58know he wants to do everything, but is he going to be one of
- 18:01your 3 starters when you make the playoffs?
- 18:03No, it's going to be Peterson, it's Sanga, and it's going to be
- 18:07Minaya. So if he's not going to be one
- 18:08of your 3 starters going into the playoffs, why wouldn't you
- 18:12slide him down and look at the bullpen that you've already put
- 18:15together And then you can use Clay Holmes, maybe use them in a
- 18:19longer role if you want to do it that way.
- 18:21Put him as a three inning middle reliever.
- 18:23I get it, you're paying him $12 million, but what's $12 million
- 18:26nowadays for an effective reliever?
- 18:28And, and, and money means nothing to Steve Cohen.
- 18:31So I think at this point when you're looking at Clay Holmes
- 18:35and if you're only going to go 5 with him, then you know you need
- 18:37a bullpen for the rest of the day.
- 18:38Are you going to be able to piggyback a guy like Blackburn
- 18:41or McGill? I mean, that would be the plan
- 18:43as of right now. But once you start getting
- 18:46towards the end and are you get into the playoffs, what is Clay
- 18:49Holmes going to be for you? Is he, he's not going to be one
- 18:51of your 3 starters. So are you going to be able to
- 18:54tell him all of a sudden, hey, we need you to dial it up again
- 18:56the way you used to do it? Or can you start preparing him
- 18:59in a way where those two starters are coming back off the
- 19:02IL? Can you get them to piggyback a
- 19:04little bit and give him the time to get acclimated to, you know,
- 19:08maybe 3 innings here and there, maybe going 2 innings, maybe
- 19:11becoming a setup man. And, and I don't think it hurts
- 19:15his value going into next year because I think there's a lot of
- 19:17teams that if you were going to sign him, it's a two year deal
- 19:20that he out the Mets. But I think if you were going to
- 19:21sign him or he was looking to go elsewhere as a starter, you know
- 19:25that he can continue to ramp it up and get stronger next year
- 19:29for what he did in Year 1 with this experiment.
- 19:31Yeah, I know a little bit about experiments and how.
- 19:34Yeah, you do. Yeah, it's it's tough too
- 19:38because we kind of fell in that two in O9 with, you know, we had
- 19:42the extra off days and so she was complaining about that.
- 19:45And so yeah, I just and that was kind of a question to you like
- 19:49and you kind of touched on it. So I'm kind of going to going to
- 19:52veer off to you and I don't think it hurts his development.
- 19:55Obviously, we kind of knew what he wanted to do.
- 19:58Do you think it will hurt him or hurt the team in the lot?
- 20:02Royer, he's going to feel like, all right, I'm not going to be
- 20:05one of those three guys, you know, I have to go do this and.
- 20:09Yeah, it's, it's a, it's a different mindset.
- 20:10And when you get. Locked in and especially when
- 20:12you get into the post season, it's a completely different
- 20:14animal too. And do you try to somehow figure
- 20:18him out in with one of those three guys, which I don't think
- 20:21he will? And then if you if you make that
- 20:24decision, how early do you tell him, hey, this is the plan.
- 20:28Do you wait till the end or me personally, I would tell him as
- 20:31soon as you have an idea of and you can't say it too soon
- 20:35because you don't want to put the cart before the horse,
- 20:36right? Right, right, of course.
- 20:38You got to get there. No doubt, but I do think, but I
- 20:41do think after this trade deadline is over and you know
- 20:43what you have, you kind of reshuffle the deck on
- 20:45everything, right? If if you say you do get another
- 20:48starter, say some reason, they, they, they, they blow the Royals
- 20:52out of the water with a deal and they get Seth Lugo in there.
- 20:55You bring back Seth Lugo and now Seth Lugo is your #2 starter #3
- 20:58starter wherever you want to put him.
- 21:00He's undoubtedly pitch just fine.
- 21:03Oh, I know he did. He's not an extension.
- 21:04That just means you got to pony up a little bit more, right.
- 21:07So while he signed the extension, that's great, but he
- 21:10didn't he didn't sign with a no trade clause to it.
- 21:13So I feel like if if that only makes it a bigger deal now you
- 21:18got to give a bigger prospects, you got to give up more.
- 21:20The Mets have two prospects that they are very high on in Tong,
- 21:24who's in AA and the kid in AAA, Sproat and McClain.
- 21:28So they got three guys that they're really high on that.
- 21:31If you're the Royals and you talk about cost most effective
- 21:33and under control for the next 5-6 years, you may maybe you get
- 21:37one or two of those guys, right? Maybe you get one or two of
- 21:39those guys and one of the third baseman.
- 21:41And then you see where you're at if you're the Royals.
- 21:44And we know the Royals have done that before.
- 21:45They've done it time and time again.
- 21:46So I still think that it's not totally out of their own
- 21:51possibility. The same thing when we thought
- 21:53Byron Buxton would be a tremendous fit as the center
- 21:56fielder in Queens. And what did Byron Buxton say?
- 21:58No, thank you, I'm good. I'm good in Minnesota, you know,
- 22:03I, I, I, I get that he earned it.
- 22:05He's he's earned that, you know, the right to have a new trade
- 22:08and been there long enough. But yeah, we were talking about
- 22:11the the right fits. So whether it's that was just
- 22:15one of the names that I really liked and thought would be a
- 22:16tremendous fit there. There's some other starters that
- 22:19you can put in there. But I think if you're going to
- 22:21get a starter, you're not looking to get a back end guy.
- 22:23You have those already. You have three or four of those
- 22:26already. But the Clay Holmes experiment
- 22:29is it, is it about, is it about him wanting to prove that he can
- 22:37do this throughout the whole season?
- 22:39So say, say he gets injured pushing himself a little bit
- 22:42beyond, right. We get into August, he doesn't
- 22:45make it to September as a pitcher, period.
- 22:47And we're like, well, what were you thinking?
- 22:49He's still 125 innings like he's, he's tapped.
- 22:53What what good is that going to do you come playoff time anyway,
- 22:56right? You know, put a guy who's, you
- 22:57know, gassed at the finish line or if you can find a way to even
- 23:02say, hey, like I said, you make him a, a long reliever if you
- 23:06want to keep guys going only 5 innings.
- 23:08I, I, I'm, you know me, man, I'm old school.
- 23:10Like this 5 inning thing, this five and dive like 5 and dive
- 23:13for us used to be an insult, right?
- 23:15The guy that did it, you're like, oh, bro, you kidding me
- 23:17again? 5 and dive must be nice.
- 23:20Now you're like, oh, what a great job.
- 23:22You're getting high fives and everything else.
- 23:24Like that's not a starter to me. Like that was just a long relief
- 23:28appearance for a guy like me. You know, I would, I would come
- 23:32in in the second inning and be like, let me see if I can get
- 23:33through 7 for the team. You know, if I could finish the
- 23:35whole game. That was my job.
- 23:38But I think in this day and age, if you're able to, if his, if
- 23:42his plan is to win and be a part of it in a way that can be
- 23:47effective, then I mean you, you put it out in front of him and
- 23:50see what he says. I think you do it early enough
- 23:53so that he has time to think about it.
- 23:55But I mean, I, I think that the, the writing's on the wall for
- 23:58what you're seeing. What you're seeing is a guy who
- 24:01had tremendous strikeout numbers early on with the new kick
- 24:04change. And you know, he had added a
- 24:06little cutter to his nasty slider and and sinker
- 24:10combination, right. But once baseball started going,
- 24:13oh, playhomes has four pitches. Oh, oh, oh, now look at his
- 24:16numbers in each month since then, his walks to strikeout
- 24:20ratio. They're getting a lot closer.
- 24:22They're a lot closer in, in month in the month of July than
- 24:25they they were in the month of April.
- 24:27The month of April. I, I want to say it was
- 24:28something like 34 to 8 or something like that.
- 24:30He's, you know, 4 to one at least in strikeouts to walk
- 24:34ratio. And you look and he's barely 1
- 24:36to 1. And that's a concern because
- 24:39you're talking about a guy who's used to having swinging this
- 24:40stuff. Yes, he has a good sinker and
- 24:42can pitch to contact, but I still think that it's more of
- 24:46the stuff isn't as sharp as it was in the beginning of the
- 24:49season. We are talking to former 9 year
- 24:52MLB pitcher, Emmy award-winning Co host Nelson Figueroa, friend
- 24:56of the show. I know you're a busy guy Nelson.
- 24:59I have two quick questions for you and we've been back and
- 25:03forth. One that I think I've argued
- 25:05this with Met fans, it's a Met in Yankee question.
- 25:09First one is you're you're talking about the captaincy and
- 25:13obviously Lindor is the guy and everybody loves him and all that
- 25:17other stuff. Pete Alonso to me is the heart
- 25:20and soul of this team in this organization.
- 25:22He was a draft pick of the New York Mets.
- 25:25He's been a star. He took away his social medias,
- 25:28stood for something, the polar bear.
- 25:31And now he's going to earn himself a lot of money in the
- 25:33offseason because he will opt out of that contract and he's
- 25:36going to make. A whole.
- 25:37Load of that money. That's my question.
- 25:40I think that Pete Alonso should be the captain of the team, not
- 25:43Lindor. No offense to Lindor, I know
- 25:45he's a great player, he's a great leader, but he is not a
- 25:48Met. Pete Alonso is.
- 25:50So that's my argument to the Met fans and then the Aaron Boone
- 25:54story. Every single Yankee fan can't
- 25:57stand Aaron Boone. But this guy, this guy is not to
- 26:02blame for the Yankees woes. It's ownership and their
- 26:05analytics. It has nothing to do with Aaron
- 26:07Boone. He's given what he is dealt in
- 26:10with, dealing with. He's, you know, he's dealing
- 26:13with the situation and he's doing what he has to do as a
- 26:16manager. He still has a winning record
- 26:18and he's still considered a top five Yankee manager of all time.
- 26:22Do you think Aaron Boone keep his job?
- 26:24So those are my 2 questions for you.
- 26:27OK, back to the first one, right?
- 26:29What was the the the gist of the first one, Captain?
- 26:32Who do you think should be the gotcha of the New York?
- 26:35Mets I, I, I, I couldn't disagree with you more.
- 26:37And there's the problem. You're going with the home girl.
- 26:40You're going with the homegrown idea.
- 26:41Problem is Keith Hernandez was not home girl, and he was the
- 26:44captain. Before him was John Franco.
- 26:47He was After him, I'm sorry, is John Franco, who was homegrown
- 26:50as far as Brooklyn, but was not homegrown as far as being a Met,
- 26:53drafted by the Mets, He was a Cincinnati Red in his first
- 26:57incarnation into the big leagues.
- 27:00When you look at what it means to be a captain and who has a
- 27:04going to be here longer, how can you give the captainship to Pete
- 27:07if he's not going to be here next year?
- 27:10Hello, how are you going to do that?
- 27:12First of all, and you want me to?
- 27:13You want to hello me. Yeah, we know Pete Alonzo is
- 27:17going to be back next year because Stern is not going to
- 27:20let him go now. He earned them.
- 27:21Hold on, Stern was ready to let him go.
- 27:24Last year, Stern actually bought him a ticket to.
- 27:26Toronto and said go ahead, Simon.
- 27:28Toronto shows that Stern didn't know what he was talking about
- 27:32because this guy's been the hardest.
- 27:34So the Mets hold on. So I think you wait and I think
- 27:38you see what you're going to do with him and then decide who the
- 27:41captain is. I just think he's the heart and
- 27:43soul of this team. That's what I think.
- 27:45Listen, listen. Since the day he put on a Met
- 27:48uniform, he has been a guy that just, he gets it.
- 27:54He gets what it takes to be a New York Met, a New York ball
- 27:58player. He gets the grit, determination.
- 28:01He gets the you need to have an edge.
- 28:04You know, Florida kid who comes in there and he says, you know,
- 28:08LFGM changes the vernacular of the team where everything was
- 28:11cut and dried. You can't say certain things.
- 28:15Listen, Pete has been fantastic. Here's the problem.
- 28:19Pete's gonna have the home run record, right?
- 28:21And that's great. So say, if Pete doesn't come
- 28:23back, you're telling me Juan Soto in the 15 years isn't going
- 28:25to hit 20 home runs a year for 15 years?
- 28:27No, he is. OK, so there's a home run
- 28:30record. So his home run record, he's
- 28:31definitely. Gonna be a bonafide DH in about
- 28:343 to 4 years as well so. Home runs are home runs.
- 28:37I don't care if he's ADH, so first baser or the outfielder.
- 28:39I don't care if he's pitching and he gets in.
- 28:42The Mets have like 4 DHS on that team.
- 28:45This is true. So, so back.
- 28:47So back to Pete. And listen, I love, I love Pete.
- 28:49I love Pete to death. But here's what the problem is.
- 28:52The Mets know this just like they knew it last offseason.
- 28:56The market will dictate Pete's worth, OK?
- 29:00Was there a market for Pete? Nobody signed him.
- 29:03Nobody wanted him. Nobody was ready to jump for
- 29:06whatever number that Boris put out there.
- 29:08And it was said that it wasn't a high number or it wasn't a
- 29:11record-breaking number, but he wanted the $30 million.
- 29:14They knew that. That's why they gave him 30 in
- 29:15the first year and then 24 for the second year if he opted in,
- 29:19right? So he's already taken a pay cut.
- 29:21He already agreed to that contract.
- 29:23So if he's going to opt out and get another deal, it's years,
- 29:26not necessarily money. He's not going to get Guerrero
- 29:29money. Let's be real.
- 29:30He's not going to get real. He got a year older and
- 29:33throughout this year we saw him start out hotter than he's ever
- 29:37been. It looked like the RE, the
- 29:39rejuvenated Pete Alonzo that came in the best shape of his
- 29:43life, retooled His swing Pressure wasn't on him as a free
- 29:47agent anymore, even though it is, because, again, he was going
- 29:50to opt out. He started out and it was
- 29:53phenomenal. Can you tell me what his numbers
- 29:56are from the month about middle of June on?
- 29:59Are you going to pay? His numbers are never good in
- 30:01June, but hey yo, why? Why did they beat Milwaukee last
- 30:05year? Why did they make that run all
- 30:07the way to Indiana LCS? Now, now I got it.
- 30:11One swing is historic, but I'm not paying a guy $150 million
- 30:14for one swing. I got it.
- 30:16Don't get me wrong. I, I listen, I love him.
- 30:18I love him as a player. I think he's great.
- 30:20I think he he gets it. He's a met through and through.
- 30:23New York or nowhere, He's wearing the shirt everywhere he
- 30:26goes. He he lost all leverage when he
- 30:28started doing all that. And at the end of the day, what
- 30:31matters is the market is dictated by what is available
- 30:35supply and demand, right? If you look at the first baseman
- 30:38market, why wouldn't you move over Mark Vientos to first base?
- 30:42If you got a guy that you feel that and you have all these
- 30:44other third baseman, you could do that.
- 30:46And why are you going to pay 30 million a year for Pete?
- 30:49Alonzo Pete. Alonzo's is better than Vientos
- 30:51when it comes to defense because Vientos can't feel for crap
- 30:54either. Oh, hold on a second.
- 30:57When Pete Alonzo first came up to the big leagues, what did
- 30:59everybody say? Defensive liability.
- 31:01He sucks. He's this, he's that.
- 31:03And you, if you look it over, please, please look up how many
- 31:06errors he has made. He's but he's really good at his
- 31:08scoops. He's first or second in baseball
- 31:11and scoops. Rizzo used to be #1 and then he
- 31:13was number 2. When you talk about Vladimir
- 31:16Guerrero and Pete Alonso, it's not comparable.
- 31:19You talk about a guy who bats nearly 300 and able to give you
- 31:233540 home run power. I love the prolific home run
- 31:27power. I love RB is I'm a big fan of
- 31:29all that. But what we see is that he does
- 31:32go through these big periods of turning invisible.
- 31:35So do you have the money to do it?
- 31:38Absolutely. Do you have the money to do and
- 31:40get some other pieces that you may need?
- 31:44Absolutely. So I I think if Pete wants to
- 31:46take that 24,000,000 and say let's go 24,000,000 for the next
- 31:50four years after that and it's a five year deal on the back end
- 31:53of that with 100 million or 125 million, whatever it is, I think
- 31:59maybe the Mets succumb to that. But if you think he's going to
- 32:02get anywhere near Guerrero money from the White Sox, who's going
- 32:07to pay in that? The Yankees men.
- 32:09Will the Yankees play because the Yankees had a chance to
- 32:11Nelson. The Yankees had a chance to pair
- 32:13him up with Aaron Judges. Why did they do it?
- 32:15Nelson Figueroa has a love fest for Mr. Lindor.
- 32:19Ladies and gentlemen, now you heard it back.
- 32:21That's he's here till 2030, someone undoubtedly the leader
- 32:25of the team was as clutch as they could be.
- 32:27He's only been chosen as an All Star once, but yet he's the
- 32:30number one in war since he became a met of all shortstops
- 32:33in baseball and nobody. And and it just to be like he
- 32:37has a bad first two months and then the rest of the season.
- 32:40Who cares? By the end of the year, he's a a
- 32:42guy who gets close to 30 and 100.
- 32:45You know, he's able to steal you 20 bags.
- 32:47The defense is undeniable. He's a Gold Glove finalist every
- 32:51year, even though with the Mets he hasn't won one.
- 32:54You know, it's very odd that all started out that doesn't want to
- 32:57go glove. He finally gets the All Star
- 32:59game. Gentlemen, A Truman.
- 33:01Yeah, right. That's exactly how it is.
- 33:03But I think it's going to be Lindor if you're going to name a
- 33:05captain. I love Pete and I thought Pete
- 33:08before Lindor. I said Pete is the next captain.
- 33:10When I first saw him. I said Pete gets it, this guy is
- 33:13great, this guy is fantastic. But it breaks the home rookie,
- 33:16home run record, LF, GM, the whole 9 yards.
- 33:18Put the team on his back, said this is what I want.
- 33:21He wanted all the smoke but the Yankees and Aaron Judge and
- 33:24breaking his record. He wanted all of it right?
- 33:27Said I'm a blue and orange. I believe blue and orange and
- 33:30everybody loved it. I said back then he was the
- 33:32captain. Then you got Lindor in a Mets
- 33:34uniform and gave him a 10 year deal and it was like, if this
- 33:38guy is the real deal like he has been, you want to find it for me
- 33:41and see who's been better than Lindor since he's been a Met.
- 33:44All right, stop now. Let's hear your.
- 33:47I got it. I got the point.
- 33:50You got Lindor. You love them.
- 33:52What was your other question? Oh yeah, Boonie, Boonie.
- 33:54Should Boonie be fired? Yankees don't have the balls to
- 33:56fire because you're going to bring somebody in to captain a
- 33:59ship. Doesn't have the balls.
- 34:00He's never had to fire anybody. This you're very right and you
- 34:04know how it is for them, right? It's it's that once you're in,
- 34:07you're in like, you've got to be done with your contract and
- 34:10you've got to be the one to walk away.
- 34:12I don't see them firing Aaron Boone because, again, is it
- 34:15Boone's fault that the players are playing the way they are?
- 34:17Is it Boone's fault that Volpe in Year 3 is deciding to see if
- 34:20he can make a record of errors? Is it Boone's fault that, you
- 34:24know, the, the, the team is constructed in a way that if
- 34:28Aaron Judge is out for any considerable amount of time,
- 34:31that they have a, a tough time finding ways to win?
- 34:34And you start thinking, man, is it even possible that you're
- 34:37starting to question, will they make the playoffs?
- 34:39Will they secure a wild card? There's a lot of people who feel
- 34:42that way. I mean, we know that Aaron Judge
- 34:44has the flexor strain. You know what they said about
- 34:46his toe two years ago? It was just bruised.
- 34:50And then ten days later, when he wasn't on the field, they're
- 34:52like, well, actually, it's a torn ligament.
- 34:55Sorry about that. He's going to be out for 60
- 34:57days. Hey, Nelson.
- 34:58Hey. Nelson, I got a question.
- 34:59I got a quick question for you and, and this is honest to God
- 35:03truth. Who does Anthony Volpe remind
- 35:06you of that played for the Yankees for a Gold Glove winner
- 35:09in his first year and now he can't even throw the first base.
- 35:13There was an ex Yankee that couldn't do that and he was a
- 35:17Gold Glove winner. That's easy.
- 35:19Oh yeah, knob block. That's right.
- 35:21This is the best part, Nelson. Shots knob block junior.
- 35:25Now he gets to learn great defense from their recent traded
- 35:27liar acquisition of Ed Rosario. To me, the trade acquisitions,
- 35:33we're going to tell you exactly what they thought was or how
- 35:35long Aaron Judge would be out. You brought in some pieces.
- 35:38Did you really do anything that has moved the needle for you?
- 35:42McMahon is a a better defensive third baseman than what we've
- 35:45seen thus far. He was batting 225 compared to
- 35:49the other two guys are batting $1.70.
- 35:53It's it's, it's, it's funny, like I can't believe how many
- 35:56guys are on in the major leagues.
- 35:59Java, correct me if I'm wrong. How many 213 hitters did you see
- 36:04playing in your days? Not very many like, and that's a
- 36:08crazy part I've been going through.
- 36:10Like as you see stats come up and you're looking stuff up like
- 36:14300 is like obsolete anything. And it's so.
- 36:17Shot and you're looking at it, you're like man, there was if
- 36:21you saw like a 250 in the lineup back when we you'd be like.
- 36:25That was the soft spot. Yeah, you're like, all right,
- 36:27good. Perfect.
- 36:27This is great. I get a break in the lineup, but
- 36:30yeah, now it's like. If it was Adam Lynn.
- 36:33Yeah, unless it was Adam Lynn because I couldn't throw him
- 36:35anything, I think. Here we go.
- 36:37Yeah, we all. We all got that guy, bro.
- 36:39We all got that guy. It's just interesting how it's
- 36:42how it's changed and what they value so much more than they
- 36:45used to. Like great at bats.
- 36:47Yeah. You know some people that are
- 36:49still old school like LA. I mean I hated it as a pitcher.
- 36:52And so did you either strike out, get out, but I don't want
- 36:55to throw you 12/14/15 pitches like.
- 36:57Correct. We were taught 3 pitches or
- 36:59less. Yeah, where like dudes took like
- 37:03solace and like, I'm that guy. Like I may hit 260, but I'm
- 37:07going to have, I'm going to average 4.8 pitches in that bat.
- 37:11Dustin Petroid. No doubt.
- 37:12No. Stupid other one that I hated
- 37:15facing was Placido Polanco. That guy was tough.
- 37:18I think it threw a change up like one time and I was like
- 37:20I've thrown everything else like 6 times.
- 37:22Like, I don't know. It sucks, but let's see if it
- 37:28happens. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:29At that point I grabbed the rosin bag and leave the ball on
- 37:31the mound and try to see if I get triggered with the rosin
- 37:33bag. I mean honestly.
- 37:35So we I listen, I think one of the things about the Yankees,
- 37:39like I said, they made some trades and it was Slater is that
- 37:44got you screaming championship Rosario first.
- 37:47Of all, first of all, I already said the Yankees should be
- 37:49sellers and everybody attacked me on social media saying what
- 37:53do you know about the Yankees? The Yankees should be sellers.
- 37:55Next year will be their year. You got Garricko coming back Max
- 37:59free, Rodon's pitching well, and then he'll you'll have the best
- 38:02rotation in the American League. You can't even argue that.
- 38:05Aaron Judge healthy. You make a move, maybe you bring
- 38:07in Kyle Tucker and if you want to sign Bellinger and move him
- 38:10to first base, then you have some kind of lineup.
- 38:12Right now their lineup sucks and to me, a bunch of players that
- 38:16shouldn't be in the major leagues.
- 38:17So you said it your best, You said it best, and that's all we
- 38:20got to say about the Yankees. By golly I I'd rather sit and
- 38:25watch cartoons than watch the Yankees play right now.
- 38:28Yeah, it, it, it would be like watching.
- 38:30You just need the sound effects, right?
- 38:31Every time there's a ball hit and you're going to see
- 38:33rumbling, stumbling. Bellinger has been, you know,
- 38:37everything. They, they got their money's
- 38:38worth with Bellinger. You know, it was a trade.
- 38:41Obviously he's making 25,000,000.
- 38:43You got 12 million for Goldschmidt.
- 38:47You know, the Yankees team could look a lot different next year.
- 38:51Spencer Jones is down there absolutely tearing the cover off
- 38:55the ball. And while, you know what's
- 38:58Giancarlo Stanton going to be if Judge is going to play?
- 39:01Nelson, I got to cut you off. Coach Fish over there said to
- 39:05me, we don't know if he could play in the league.
- 39:08He strikes out too much. And all the Yankee fans, trade
- 39:12them. Trade them.
- 39:13Let's get a big bat. Let's get a big.
- 39:15Let's get a relief pitch. Get out of here.
- 39:17Yeah. You keep Spencer Jones.
- 39:19He could be the future of this organization.
- 39:21Move it forward. Yankee fans, you're idiots, all
- 39:24of you. Stupid, dumb Spencer Jones.
- 39:28There aren't a lot of guys who have come up through the system
- 39:31that you can hang your hat on and I'll go the last 10 years
- 39:35just for the last 10 years. Want to give me a name anybody,
- 39:40any guy that hasn't been right. I mean, I, I name name 1Y player
- 39:47in the last 10 years. So one of the things I said the
- 39:49other night that, you know, the Mets, yes, they lost to the
- 39:51Padres, whatever. But out in the field, all but
- 39:53two were home grown Mets, all but two, which was Lindor and
- 39:58Soto. Those are the two superstars
- 39:59that they signed as free agents. Everybody else was drafted and
- 40:03run through the farm system. So that's pretty impressive to
- 40:06sit there in this day and age and say, hey, we grew all these
- 40:09and finally we're seeing the fruits of our of our labor.
- 40:12Then you look on the other side with the Yankees and other than
- 40:14the Core 4, give me a starting picture that you can say.
- 40:21That guy was a great Yankee pitcher.
- 40:22CC Sabathia was not an original Yankee, so we can't go with
- 40:25that. One, and even either was heel.
- 40:27Heel was not a Yankee the Yankees traded.
- 40:30I know there's no, there's no, there's no guy that you can say
- 40:34and sit back and go, man, that guy came up.
- 40:37Greg Bird was supposed to be that guy.
- 40:38He was that dude, right? For a while and then he then
- 40:41injuries and goodbye. We haven't seen Greg Bird.
- 40:44We see Greg Byrne make it to the age of 30 in the big leagues.
- 40:47Aaron Hicks, Remember that four year deal, lock him up.
- 40:50Good defensive player, guy with a solid bat, switch hitter and
- 40:55Nope, he didn't do very well. Sheffield.
- 40:59Luke Voigt. Well, Voigt wasn't a pun.
- 41:02Justice. Are you talking about Justice
- 41:04Sheffield? Yeah.
- 41:05Sheffield. Sheffield was a guy the Yankees
- 41:06drafted, saw Clint Frazier. They made a trade.
- 41:09He was from the Yankees organ. I mean, we could go on and on
- 41:12and on All. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:15Tyler Wade I think was 1. So failures.
- 41:17Yeah, Tyler Wade would just steal pieces and a good
- 41:19defensive player. But all the Yankee fans, well.
- 41:21Couldn't I think so. I think in this day and age of
- 41:25what we're seeing and we're talking about the trade deadline
- 41:27and what, where, where the Yankees at, Brett.
- 41:29Gardner was good. He was a good Yankee from the
- 41:31farm system. Brett Garner was good.
- 41:33Listen, solid, solid guy. Solid guy, solid player.
- 41:38All Star. A guy that you're putting in
- 41:40your top ten of anything? No.
- 41:43If you're a Yankee fan, is Brett Gardner making your roster the
- 41:46top 20 of Yankees? No.
- 41:49He's not making my Top 40. All like all time.
- 41:51Yeah, yeah, even all Yeah, I mean, all time.
- 41:54Of course not, because the Yankees have had I mean this the
- 41:57best of the best. I mean, you look at the the the
- 42:00starting 9 or nobody that was, you know, your grandfather
- 42:04watched those guys play the starting night.
- 42:07There's no way other than judge. I'd rather scratch my.
- 42:10Balls. That's what I.
- 42:11Would do, not the real question. And I wonder why you're the
- 42:14mouth not. The real question where?
- 42:16Where is Jazz Chisholm in Errol's top 300?
- 42:19Nowhere. Jazz Chisholm is one of the most
- 42:22overrated Yankees that the Yankees have ever had, and
- 42:26Yankee fans love this guy. The guy doesn't shut up.
- 42:30He opens his mouth. He embarrassed himself at the
- 42:32Home Run Derby. That was probably the worst I've
- 42:35ever seen a Yankee he hit at a Home Run Derby and he sits there
- 42:39after the game and said, I mean, after the whole thing and says,
- 42:42hey, we're still a great. Defensive team and we're.
- 42:44The best team in the American League.
- 42:45Get the hell out of here, will you?
- 42:47What are you? Smoking.
- 42:49Let me give you. Let me give you where, where
- 42:50Jazz Chisholm lost me. It was very, very early and it
- 42:53was when the Yankees were winning, when the Yankees blew
- 42:56Milwaukee out in the water to start the season.
- 42:59And he said the the unthinkable. You know how the baseball gods
- 43:02are, right, Jabba? It was it was he literally said,
- 43:06oh, it's like playing Wiffle ball in the backyard.
- 43:09What my man, if that was my day and this guy just said after
- 43:16they put up a 16 spot on us, it's like playing wiffle ball
- 43:19out there. Do you know how many times he
- 43:21would have been hit? No shot, no shot.
- 43:26He was not going to get drilled at least twice in the next game
- 43:30and one might have been by me and I only threw 90.
- 43:32The next one was going to be by a guy who threw the hardest
- 43:35whiffle. Ball, my man.
- 43:37It's the big leagues bro, don't disrespect the game like that.
- 43:39Like that's ridiculous to make that statement.
- 43:41I would pay the Yankees for a one day contractors to hit Jazz
- 43:44Chisholm. I would pay the Yankees whatever
- 43:48they want to get a chance to throw the ball at Jazz Chisholm.
- 43:51I can't stand him. I don't like anything about him.
- 43:54Jabba stuck up for him quite a few times.
- 43:56I just don't like his mouth. I don't like his personality.
- 44:00He just and he tries so hard, but nobody cares.
- 44:04I do not want to hear this guy open his mouth.
- 44:06What has he won? What has he done?
- 44:08I don't care. I don't want to hear it.
- 44:10He played for the Marlins. He was the cover athlete for MLB
- 44:13The Show bro. Come on.
- 44:15Oh my. God Goldschmidt.
- 44:17Goldschmidt won the MVP, but this guy was the cover athlete
- 44:21for MLB Be The Show. Explain it to me if you can,
- 44:24because he batted 250 with 14 home runs.
- 44:27I don't get it. And and that's why he played for
- 44:29the mark. Personality, it's all the drip.
- 44:33It was all the drip, all all my chains and all my shoes.
- 44:36No, I was stop, stop the the the game.
- 44:40The the game needs a reset in a way where I I like watching guys
- 44:44and it was funny because I just got a I just got a USB drive of
- 44:48some old video and I got to watch Scott Roland in his prime,
- 44:52hit a home run and run the bases and there was nothing.
- 44:55There was nothing better than seeing that guy just calmly
- 45:00Sprint around the bases so he could get back in the dugout and
- 45:02let the next guy get to hacking, just doing his work, you know,
- 45:06lunch pail style. Like the guy would make
- 45:08highlight plays. It was an ordinary, it was a
- 45:11Tuesday. That's what that play was.
- 45:13It wasn't an ESPN highlight where he needed to talk about it
- 45:15and, and, and pop his collar and wear some and wear colors that
- 45:19aren't the Yankee color. That gives me such a agita about
- 45:23these guys wearing lime green in Yankee uniforms.
- 45:27You know what it was Navy blue. You wear Navy blue and
- 45:32everybody's wearing Adidas. Why?
- 45:34Because I said so. You know, Jeter had the Jordan
- 45:37contract, of course, but there was a uniformity to being a
- 45:41Yankee. He goes out with his hat
- 45:43backwards. You're not Ken Griffey Junior.
- 45:45You've proven that. Home Run Derby should have
- 45:47proven that beyond the doubt. You're not Ken Griffey Junior.
- 45:50Put your hat on the right way, wearing the, the, the green
- 45:54spikes and the, the green belt and, and the, and you were there
- 45:58when, what was it 1 chain you were allowed to wear?
- 46:00When I was in the minor leagues of the Yankees, When I was in
- 46:02the minor league of the Yankees, I tried to rock 2 fighting
- 46:04necklaces one time. They were like, whoa, I'm like,
- 46:07they're not even gold or silver, bro.
- 46:09These are like supposed to be beneficial for, you know, ionic
- 46:13properties or whatever the hell it was.
- 46:14I'm just trying to, you know, stay in shape and be ready to
- 46:16pitch. And they were like, oh, you
- 46:18can't wear both of those. I popped one off and I threw it
- 46:20in the stands. I'm like this is ridiculous.
- 46:22Meanwhile I I got to watch this guy have 4 chains on with a
- 46:25charm that's bigger than his chest.
- 46:27He's probably renting it because he can't afford it.
- 46:29I, I mean, it's probably fake too.
- 46:31It's, it's probably like, it's like, I don't know, aluminum or
- 46:35something. I I mean, yeah, the guy is.
- 46:39Aluminum. Yeah, he's just an absolute
- 46:42joke. I I just don't like, I don't
- 46:45like looking at him. I don't like, I don't like
- 46:47talking about him. And that's why I gave him the
- 46:49name Jazz Jism. OK, Because I'd rather.
- 46:53I've heard, I've heard, I've heard that somewhere before.
- 46:56Keith Hernandez does it all the time.
- 46:57No, it's hilarious. That's why I like Keith.
- 47:00That's why me and Keith are buddies.
- 47:02I should reach out to Keith and tell him, hey, you know what?
- 47:05I'll give you my jazz Chism if you really want it.
- 47:09Good Lord, good Lord. Anyways, we love you, man.
- 47:14You're, you're doing you've done so many great things.
- 47:16You're you've done a great job on pix 11 and thank you.
- 47:21And you're you're rocketing. You do owe us, you know, a game
- 47:24to go to for the New York Knicks that that's got.
- 47:27To happen, we are doing that. We do.
- 47:29No doubt that's happening. And, and maybe we'll invite
- 47:33Jabba. I don't know.
- 47:34Jabba might RIP somebody's head off if he goes to a Knick game.
- 47:38So I don't know. No.
- 47:40Then as soon as we leave the garden, we can just go to my
- 47:42restaurant. There you go, free food.
- 47:45I like it. I like it.
- 47:46Sounds good. You don't got to tell him.
- 47:48Twice. Nope.
- 47:51Well, I mean I don't eat too much, I'm a cheap date.
- 47:54So anyways. We got honey mustard.
- 47:56Don't worry. There you go.
- 47:58I need that honey, baby. I need that honey.
- 48:00A little mustard, you know that's.
- 48:02Great. Speedy doesn't shave, so we'll
- 48:04have to keep him away from it. No dipping sauce to.
- 48:06Him if you Don't worry, I'll go after Jabba's old Lube.
- 48:11Maybe he'll make that work. Well, Jabba actually told us he
- 48:14put Lube in his beard. Now Speedy, have you ever used
- 48:18Lube before? Not, but I'll have to have you
- 48:21ever smelt. Have you ever Have you ever
- 48:23smelt your Lube? No.
- 48:26Interesting. If you need to get rid of the
- 48:29blue out of your house, you could you could send it to me.
- 48:32All right, I don't want to scare this guy.
- 48:34Oh God, I have to bring back. I will say this, our next
- 48:40segment is one of the funniest ones and and we're actually
- 48:43putting it to bed tonight. We call it analytics.
- 48:47You could stay on and actually listen to it if you want.
- 48:50It is a funny. One, I just got in and I've been
- 48:53doing this. I'm going to, I'm going to take
- 48:55my leave of you guys so we can do this again soon.
- 48:58Absolutely tell your wife I said hello.
- 49:00You got it brother. Thank you so much.
- 49:02The one I see your voice. Our friend Nelson Figueroa,
- 49:06Fantastic. He is fantastic always and Emmy
- 49:09award-winning as we all know. Two time Emmy Award-winning so
- 49:13we can't forget the 2 double Deuce and two in a pink.
- 49:17And this, ladies and gentlemen, could be the last one in the
- 49:21stink. We call this Anal Linux.
- 49:23Ladies and gentlemen, and now it's a analytics I want.
- 49:29Everybody together to go ahead and say penis, penis, penis,
- 49:33vagina, vagina, vagina. All right everybody, it's so sad
- 49:41that we may be coming to an end right here with this wonderful
- 49:45segment. A game show that is always a
- 49:48quality educational experience. Yes, of course I am talking
- 49:52about analytics. The way the game works is there
- 49:55is a mystery term that Errol has for Speedy and Speedy has for
- 49:58Errol. They will each have up to three
- 50:00clues to solve it and whoever gets it right first is the
- 50:04winner. If they tie, there is a tie
- 50:06rigger. They do have to use the term in
- 50:07a sentence. Whoever's sentence is better is
- 50:10then the tiebreaker winner. There's a catch though.
- 50:14The terms are different. So Speedy is our resident
- 50:17statistician guru. And yes, he will be asking
- 50:21Errol, who's more of a traditionalist, more of an eye
- 50:24test man, an originalist as they would say politically when it
- 50:29comes to sports. He doesn't know these newfangled
- 50:33terms. This war crap, no, he's got.
- 50:37He's going to have to solve this, though he doesn't know it.
- 50:39On the same token, Speedy has some things he doesn't know as
- 50:43well. He always calls them gross
- 50:47sexual crap. Yes, these are sexual innuendos.
- 50:50These are the analytics compared to the analytics of the sports
- 50:54boys. It's been a long ride.
- 50:56Are you ready for perhaps the last episode of Analytics?
- 51:01Let's go all righty. All right, right, so here we go.
- 51:05We're going to start off as we always do with Speedy When the
- 51:08music starts. It's time for the big reveal of
- 51:11the sports analytical term of the night.
- 51:14All right, so we got football again for the last one SRS we
- 51:18got for this week. SSRS Football.
- 51:27SRS is something rating. Rating is correct.
- 51:30Yep. SRSSRS I don't know the.
- 51:40Interesting accent. Trying to do trying to.
- 51:44Do I have a country accent? I have no idea.
- 51:49All right, we got one of the letters though rating.
- 51:51Let's move on to speedy PD. Here it is Errol.
- 51:55The music is playing. Let's hear the big reveal all.
- 51:59Right, Speedy, you ready? All righty.
- 52:03Poofing. Oh God.
- 52:08Oh boy. Oh God.
- 52:13All right, the action of a man sticking his hand inside a
- 52:34woman's vagina. Oh, woman's vagina.
- 52:45Oh boy, Speedy. No, that is incorrect.
- 52:49But that's all right. That was real wild guesses.
- 52:51It's time we get some clues, Speedy.
- 52:55SRS let's get Errol his first clue all.
- 52:57Right, so something that is not complicated could be considered.
- 53:04Good clue. Not complicated finesse.
- 53:13Say it again. So something that is considered
- 53:15not complicated, like an opposite.
- 53:24Not complicated with an S Simple, yes.
- 53:30And then another term for like a like a scheme, like a way you
- 53:35want to run things in basketball, you could consider
- 53:38scheme. Don't know, Don't know.
- 53:53All right, I don't know. I do understand what he's
- 53:55getting at with basketball, but we're getting close there.
- 53:59It's wrong. You have one letter left to
- 54:01solve, Speedy. You're going to have to do some
- 54:04work here, Errol. Let's give him his first clue
- 54:08for boofing. Speedy, you insert this
- 54:15particular item item somewhere. Gosh, let's hope it's not the
- 54:21freaking dildo that was thrown in the court.
- 54:25I have a weird feeling it could be though.
- 54:27It's an item that makes you feel good.
- 54:32Oh God, this is that stupid vibrator thing that you wanted
- 54:35to bring back for like 5 years ago.
- 54:38Oh God, this would be the way to to end full time analytics is to
- 54:42bring back that memory. All right, let's go with that
- 54:45because I can't think of much else.
- 54:48All right, let's stick the vibrator inside a woman's ass
- 54:52and then come come down with your body.
- 54:59Come down what? What do you mean come down with
- 55:03your back? Downward action.
- 55:04Well, show us downward action. I don't know, Jimmy.
- 55:07Superfly Snuka off the top rope. There's no age.
- 55:10Show us the same. I don't know what to
- 55:11demonstrate. Show us.
- 55:12Just show us what you think it would do.
- 55:15Just show us. I am not demonstrating a
- 55:16freaking vibrator that makes you feel good.
- 55:20But it, it's something that you can feel good.
- 55:26It it, you know, it makes you feel good, makes you feel good
- 55:32in many different ways. Yeah, sure.
- 55:36That was a creepy way to say it makes you feel good.
- 55:39Yeah, that was kind of odd. You're like, I am an odd person.
- 55:43That that's kind of like how Halle Berry talked in Monsters
- 55:46Ball. I'm going to give him a real
- 55:48make me feel good dude. Dude I get aroused every time I
- 55:52watch that part. That's a creepy thing to get
- 55:56aroused. Dude, I wouldn't tell you this.
- 55:58Halle Berry was like my all time.
- 56:00Like if I see Halle Berry, I would do anything to sleep with
- 56:05that woman. You remember who she had to get
- 56:06away from. It was abusive to her.
- 56:08David Justice, I know. David Justice.
- 56:10No, no. In the movie, you know who
- 56:11played her husband? Yeah.
- 56:12Diddy the Diddler. It was Diddy, but of course the.
- 56:15Diddler, the Diddler. Now it all makes sense the.
- 56:19Diddler, but she he did. I loved Halle Berry.
- 56:21She was like I had posters of her all over my wall.
- 56:25I loved Halle. Swordfish.
- 56:28Hey, didn't she get 500 per? Titty.
- 56:30Yeah, she. Do it.
- 56:31So it was pretty, pretty, pretty high price.
- 56:33But speedy, you can't avoid this.
- 56:37We need a. We need a guess.
- 56:39Yes. All right, so all right, So the
- 56:42vibrator goes inside the woman's ass and then the man, I will
- 56:48say. So it probably isn't his hand.
- 56:51We'll go back to the penis. We'll drive right on top of it.
- 56:57Drive, you're going to drive on top.
- 57:01I'm just going to hit the wrong answer.
- 57:02I I I feel. Like there's another action.
- 57:07With like Hot Wheels. Bars right now, No, I'm.
- 57:10Not not a wheel. You said drive on top of it.
- 57:14Yeah, because the only thing you could drive is a car.
- 57:16Yeah, OK. Why can't you just like not give
- 57:23the analogy? You don't have to say it's like
- 57:27driving a car or driving. You could say what you want to
- 57:31say, Speedy. You could say it.
- 57:35I don't know what that is though, that's why I'm guessing
- 57:37all right. There we go wrong.
- 57:39Answer is still. Confirmed.
- 57:41Wow, let's go back the other way.
- 57:43I just got really close. I just got even more stupider.
- 57:47Only so many brain cells left. My brain cells are in another
- 57:50world right now, so. All right, Speedy, next clue
- 57:53all. Right.
- 57:54So a more general term, not even just a sports term.
- 57:56If somebody has a methodology of doing something, a certain set
- 58:00of certain set of rules or something like that, something
- 58:04that is more organized, you consider it a like a routine
- 58:11kind of thing, like some person does it 1A particular way.
- 58:14I know what you're saying. You're not giving a great one
- 58:17for this. It's a little tough, but I I
- 58:21could figure it out. Say it again.
- 58:23So I guess if somebody has one like preferred methodology or
- 58:28routine in how they were to do something, even from a general
- 58:30standpoint, you have a a particular, I guess comfort to
- 58:36like, like I was saying, you want to we want to run a scheme
- 58:38of coaching style like a certain set of rules if you're.
- 58:42Especially defensively. I got it.
- 58:46I got it. I think I know what it is.
- 58:48I think I know what it is. System.
- 58:51Yes, simple rating system. All right.
- 59:00And a Ding, Ding, Ding. Now you know what you have to
- 59:06do, Errol. I'm.
- 59:08I got to use it in a sense. I'm a little lost with this, so
- 59:11I'm going to have to guess on this.
- 59:12And this is football, all right? SRS.
- 59:19The New York Jets simple rating system is amongst the league's
- 59:26worst over the last 20 years in the NFL.
- 59:31The tracks. That's rocks.
- 59:33I mean, that's right. I would say that's a.
- 59:36Good guess they could be a. Pretty good guess, I mean.
- 59:40There's not much competition. It's probably them, the Browns
- 59:42or the. Rage goody has no woody as as a.
- 59:46Teacher, I would say the sentence is a little vague, so
- 59:49there is some room there for Speedy.
- 59:51I like anal spell. Definition for SRS please and
- 59:54like how it would be used. If I somehow get to my sentence,
- 59:57I'm using Nathanetics. These didn't show up.
- 1:00:00Where? Where is Nathan?
- 1:00:01He was supposed to be. Nathan was supposed to be here
- 1:00:03for the last the last farewell tour of Analytics.
- 1:00:07Speedy. Tell us SRS.
- 1:00:09So simple rating system. How we use it?
- 1:00:11Yeah, so simple racing rating system is a it is a team metric.
- 1:00:14So him using the dress is actually right.
- 1:00:16So it actually combines point differential with strength of
- 1:00:19schedule and a few other factors to judge how how strong A-Team
- 1:00:23really is in a decibel based rating system.
- 1:00:26The Bills were the highest one this year, combined with a bunch
- 1:00:29of those factors in the regular. System in The Jets, one of the
- 1:00:31worst, as always. As we always know. 20 years,
- 1:00:36absolutely. Yeah, the 20 year sample, I
- 1:00:37would imagine the Browns are the worst, but The Jets are probably
- 1:00:40bottom three I would imagine. It would be them, the Raiders in
- 1:00:42The Jets, I would say all three of them, yeah.
- 1:00:46The Giants would give you a run for your money since 2012.
- 1:00:49No 2020 years. 20 years. No, they won.
- 1:00:51They won two. I said since 2012, since 2012.
- 1:00:54Well, yeah, since 2012, yeah. Then you're looking at.
- 1:00:56It all right so look barrel solved it I would give AB minus
- 1:01:02to that sentence you're going to have to solve it right now
- 1:01:05speedy and do better than that here's the music let's.
- 1:01:10Go All right, Speedy. You take this particular thing
- 1:01:17in many different ways. You can smoke it, you can pop
- 1:01:22it, you can get high on it. OK, All right, all right, all
- 1:01:27done Sounds. Like a good time with Caddy.
- 1:01:28All done and you got to put it into a body.
- 1:01:32OK, A certain part of the body. So caddy's going to put weed in
- 1:01:36a geese? Nice this can be done.
- 1:01:40You're off the hook. I'll use a caddy this can.
- 1:01:42Be done with a certain part of your body, OK?
- 1:01:48And then, ladies and gentlemen, it can go in many different
- 1:01:54areas, in a man's thing and another thing.
- 1:02:02And again, sounds like something Kenny would do.
- 1:02:04Is he smoking something? All right, Speedy, you've got in
- 1:02:09your clues. Let's recap.
- 1:02:10I think I gave him the out smoking something.
- 1:02:12You almost gave him the whole thing.
- 1:02:14The first clue. Errol, I I can't even tell you
- 1:02:18what your clues are at this point.
- 1:02:20You're going to have to recap. All right, Speedy needs all the
- 1:02:22help he can get. So you can pop it, you can smoke
- 1:02:24it, you can enjoy it, and then you're going to take it and
- 1:02:28you're going to put it somewhere in somebody's body.
- 1:02:31All right, so I'm still back on. All right, you're smoking it.
- 1:02:35So it comes from your mouth originally, I guess.
- 1:02:39Then you smoke it and then put it into the butt hole.
- 1:02:44OK, but what is it? So you're smoking?
- 1:02:49It's probably something with a flame.
- 1:02:54I mean, a cigar seems like the obvious one, but it could be a
- 1:02:59joint. Like but what is it?
- 1:03:02And and then and. So it's a all right, let's go
- 1:03:09with a joint, I guess, a joint. But what is that weed?
- 1:03:13Weed. But what is that?
- 1:03:15Smoking. But what is that?
- 1:03:18How would you classify weed as a?
- 1:03:22As a drug. OK.
- 1:03:25So you're keep going. So you're placing, you're
- 1:03:28smoking that you're smoking it, and then you're placing it into.
- 1:03:32The butt hole, OK. And then and then while it's I
- 1:03:37guess. Hot.
- 1:03:38You drive your your sex part in I don't know your penis or your.
- 1:03:45Vagina did you just. Say your sex part if.
- 1:03:47You're a man or a woman. Because genders could do this,
- 1:03:52apparently. Again, it still sounds like
- 1:03:55something Kenny would do. You're a sex part.
- 1:03:58You got to cut that one out. You're a sex part.
- 1:04:02I hope Kenny would never do this with a geek with a goose, but
- 1:04:05you never know. Surprisingly, you actually got a
- 1:04:08lot closer than any of us thought you would.
- 1:04:11It did not go right for you at the end there.
- 1:04:15That means for the last, that's. Right, I got my Kenny
- 1:04:17description and which would have been my set that study.
- 1:04:19It was there for you, I guess, Speedy.
- 1:04:20You were, you were set up. And you know Mighty Casey struck
- 1:04:24out. I will.
- 1:04:24I will go out on top with my great my great description of
- 1:04:27the Kenny hypothetical though. Well, going out on top is one
- 1:04:31thing. Why don't you tell us, Errol?
- 1:04:33And so Speedy can get his last educational lesson All right.
- 1:04:36Boofing. What boofing is?
- 1:04:38Boofing is when your partner insert drugs into your body
- 1:04:43through your anus. This could be done with your
- 1:04:46fingers, or your partner can put the drugs on their penis and
- 1:04:53have anal sex with you. So it's more like a lacing of
- 1:04:56drugs, OK. Lacing of drugs, Speedy, you all
- 1:05:02one sick individual. I can tell you now what was the
- 1:05:06what was the term he used that we're going to use?
- 1:05:09What was that? What was the term?
- 1:05:13What the sex part? Sex part Yeah, it's.
- 1:05:17Your sex part. Your sex part.
- 1:05:19So how many sex parts do you think Jabba has?
- 1:05:23Droba. Droba what 4 I don't.
- 1:05:26Know. How many sex parts?
- 1:05:28Do you think no? How many?
- 1:05:29I guess 4? I have no idea.
- 1:05:33You think 4 are you talking about from the Star Wars movie
- 1:05:39Jabba for? Sex parts Jabba would have like
- 1:05:50he he'd be able to please many different people, I.
- 1:05:57Don't know what I do with all that.
- 1:06:00I think there was a South Park where like they had monsters
- 1:06:03that had like 4 penises or something like that.
- 1:06:06They were constantly having sex with each other.
- 1:06:09Four parts. That's great.
- 1:06:11That's job. If I heard four parts, man, I'd
- 1:06:14be the conquering king of this world, let me tell you.
- 1:06:18I mean, there would be something.
- 1:06:19I would be something. I would have so many magical
- 1:06:22powers, you know? Speaking of powers Tommy Lee got
- 1:06:26is, you know, is a thing rearranged in many different
- 1:06:30ways. Long and thick, right?
- 1:06:31Speedy, Like the sausages you love?
- 1:06:34I, I, I wouldn't be surprised, I wouldn't not surprising that
- 1:06:37Tommy Lee did that by any means, but I don't think.
- 1:06:39It anything. Would you grab it if he pulled
- 1:06:40it? No.
- 1:06:41Why not? You like sausages?
- 1:06:43I can have sausages that aren't attached to people.
- 1:06:46'S bodies. But if you closed your eyes and
- 1:06:48you touched it, wouldn't you think it was a sausage?
- 1:06:50No. Why not?
- 1:06:51Because I know what the difference between food and body
- 1:06:54parts are. It's right in front of your
- 1:06:56face. It's got the you said if I close
- 1:06:58my eyes. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
