- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31Yes, it's a Saturday morning so I can be out here a little bit
- 0:36later to record. I don't have a session starting
- 0:39in a few minutes and sun is coming up earlier, which just
- 0:43makes my heart so happy. And the girls are coming out
- 0:46their auto door right this moment, eating their breakfast.
- 0:49So today we're talking about what I'm doing in the chicken
- 0:53coop because this is part of my joy.
- 0:55As all of you know, this is the place where I come out and I
- 0:58just love doing anything with them, hanging out with them,
- 1:03making things better for them, and I am reimagining their area
- 1:07now. This is part of my spring
- 1:09cleaning. In my world, I love to do the
- 1:13spring cleaning more than anything.
- 1:14There's nothing better to me than opening the windows with
- 1:18that cooler air, but not cold air.
- 1:20Getting things refreshed, ripping out old weeded gardens,
- 1:25getting things cleaned up. And the coop is something where
- 1:28I love to spread my imagination as much as I possibly can
- 1:32because it, it's like a, a, a, it's like a little dollhouse to
- 1:35me. I think I was, I was thinking
- 1:37about that as I was getting ready to do the podcast this
- 1:39morning. And I talk about it.
- 1:41And I always loved my Barbies and I loved playing with Barbies
- 1:44and creating different houses for them because at the time
- 1:47when I had Barbies, the you don't really have a Barbie house
- 1:51yet. It did come out.
- 1:54But when I first started with them, you like played with your
- 1:56Barbies. You figured things out and you
- 1:58had to make things for them out of cardboard boxes or was ever
- 2:03around. And I was forever doing that,
- 2:05getting paint samples and sticking them all inside their
- 2:08thing. And it's it's all about that re
- 2:09imagination for me. So coming out here and being
- 2:13able to do this for them is like having a dollhouse and coming in
- 2:16and saying, OK, what can I do? So we had a few disasters
- 2:20masters with their some of their structures, not their main coop,
- 2:24but they had a playground and that got completely wiped out in
- 2:27one of the big storms. It fell over and we have to work
- 2:30on that. And they need a food.
- 2:32I like to have their food inside and outside for them so that
- 2:35they can come and get some if they want to.
- 2:37And this is of course, all inside their run.
- 2:40Their run needs some work because again, the storms kind
- 2:43of damaged a lot. And we're just they're they they
- 2:47don't have a shade coming into their coop.
- 2:50Now, I know this sounds crazy, but if we live in a space where
- 2:53they and it gets hot, bloody hot.
- 2:56So they need to have some shade so that the whole place doesn't
- 3:00fill up with heat. And we had some tarps, not
- 3:04tarps, but they were made for like outdoor restaurants kind of
- 3:07things like, you know, they put up those little wings that like
- 3:09make shade for you. We had those, however, the storm
- 3:13took them out. So we're going to build
- 3:16something a little bit more permanent so that they can be
- 3:19safe and not have those strings hanging around or cords hanging
- 3:23around. We've got some really cool ideas
- 3:25of what we want to do. And I'm also on the hunt,
- 3:28believe it or not, for a claw foot bathtub.
- 3:31Now you might be saying, what the hell is she doing with a
- 3:34bathtub? Well, chickens love to dust
- 3:35bathe. So I want to create an outdoor
- 3:38spa for them with their bathtub filled with the kind of dirt
- 3:43that they like to to bathe in. Put some ash in there.
- 3:45Believe it or not, wood ash is super good for chickens and
- 3:48keeping their feathers healthy. Again, it's all about knowing
- 3:51what they need in order to thrive and see if they'll go in
- 3:55the bathtub. Now, what's really funny about
- 3:56that is people are thinking, well, why would they go in the
- 3:58bathtub? Well, they're chickens and they
- 3:59go in everything. So, so it's very easy to get
- 4:04them to try new things if they're, if they're inquisitive
- 4:07and I have a group of very inquisitive chickens.
- 4:10So this is the plan. This is what we're working on.
- 4:13And the reason I'm sharing all of this with you is to figure
- 4:16out what's your spring cleaning project?
- 4:18What's the thing that makes you feel like a little kid again
- 4:21playing in a dollhouse? What makes you feel great?
- 4:24Because if you do that, I promise you, Oh my Friends, Life
- 4:28changes and you feel so awesome. So figure that piece out, Go
- 4:32grab it, get it, get it underway because you will be incredibly
- 4:36happy when you do. All right, my friends, that's
- 4:39all I got for you today because I'm on my way to the hardware
- 4:41store, so I will see you all tomorrow.
- 4:43Bye.
