Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's a media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the
- 0:11Speaker 1: only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host,
- 0:15Speaker 1: spent to New Arth today. We're joined by Steve Jannis,
- 0:18Speaker 1: cal Brody, Randall, Seth Marge and John John. This is
- 0:22Speaker 1: your first time on the show. Tell folks what you
- 0:24Speaker 1: do here at Mead Theater.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I am the retail associate at the Meat Eater flagship
- 0:29Speaker 2: store in downtown Boseman.
- 0:31Speaker 1: But what kind of folks do you deal with in there?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Are they? Like, what percentage of people come in there
- 0:36Speaker 1: who are like Meat Theater fans versus they have no
- 0:37Speaker 1: idea what the store is.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I would say probably seventy percent or met Eater fans. Okay,
- 0:43Speaker 2: but once we get into like tourist season here in Bozeman,
- 0:46Speaker 2: it's kind of like.
- 0:47Speaker 1: An even fifty to fifty. Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Then, like we've always had people coming into the store
- 0:53Speaker 2: thinking it's a restaurant, believe it or not. We actually
- 0:55Speaker 2: had somebody ask for a menu at one point.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, they'll ask if Steve is in there, one question.
- 1:03Speaker 1: He's so in the shirts in the back of the store.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:07Speaker 2: We always have people where's Ranella at that'd be great.
- 1:10Speaker 4: We just had a little vo booth in the back.
- 1:12Speaker 4: They could like look in through some glass and you
- 1:14Speaker 4: can see Steve in there talking into one of these.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and what's what's the status on the bison skull?
- 1:20Speaker 1: That thing is still getting fingered on a daily basis.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, it's seen fingers from around the world.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Wow. Yes, right. This is a ten round quiz show
- 1:29Speaker 1: with questions from meat Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and cooking, and there's a prize. Meat Eater will donate
- 1:35Speaker 1: five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winner's
- 1:38Speaker 1: choosing for the stat of the week. This week, we're
- 1:40Speaker 1: looking at the most common category for question ten. In
- 1:44Speaker 1: a recent episode, Randall and Phil proclaimed that I too
- 1:47Speaker 1: frequently end the show on a fishing question. So below
- 1:52Speaker 1: why because why? What?
- 1:54Speaker 5: Why? Were they complaining?
- 1:55Speaker 1: But well they were they think it's giving an advantage
- 1:58Speaker 1: to Brody, not.
- 2:00Speaker 6: Necessarily an advantage. It's just kind of anti climactic when
- 2:03Speaker 6: we know Brody's going to get the answer.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Well, I looked at the last ten episodes to see
- 2:08Speaker 1: if they're right.
- 2:08Speaker 3: That's not representative.
- 2:13Speaker 7: And you throw a fishing question.
- 2:14Speaker 1: If Brody's they think question ten is always a fishing question,
- 2:18Speaker 1: so then it's already like we already know what's going
- 2:20Speaker 1: to happen. Dang it, Brody's going to get this one right.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Conservation was the final question twice, woodsmanship was twice, hunting
- 2:29Speaker 1: was three times, and fishing was three times. So hunting
- 2:32Speaker 1: and fishing had been the most common category for question ten,
- 2:35Speaker 1: with conservation woodsmanship right behind them. You think I need
- 2:39Speaker 1: to get a bigger sample size, though, and that's going
- 2:40Speaker 1: to prove you right.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I think that ten, the prior ten episodes tell us nothing.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I think that's like walking around a diner and asking
- 2:49Speaker 3: people who's going to be president.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That probably works, depends where the diner is. We'll get
- 2:55Speaker 1: a bigger sample size to see if you're right. But
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think I think Brody is on the side.
- 3:01Speaker 6: Doesn't matter what's true, Spencer. What matters is how I feel.
- 3:04Speaker 1: M M all right. Here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment.
- 3:08Speaker 1: If you have a trivia related question for our crew,
- 3:10Speaker 1: send it to Trivia at the medeater dot com with
- 3:13Speaker 1: the subject line I f Q Devin med says me
- 3:17Speaker 1: and a buddy are avid listeners and have agreed on
- 3:20Speaker 1: a bet. We are having a year long competition and
- 3:23Speaker 1: whoever loses the most games has to get a tattoo
- 3:26Speaker 1: on their ass cheek. Originally the rules were that the
- 3:29Speaker 1: winner would pick the tattoo, but we'd really love for
- 3:32Speaker 1: you guys to decide. We want it to be something
- 3:35Speaker 1: related to the four verticals. What are your ideas? What's
- 3:39Speaker 1: the room think? Mm a trivia loser is going to
- 3:43Speaker 1: get a butt chee soccer game on suckers, Then then
- 3:48Speaker 1: there'd be a few of us walking around the world
- 3:50Speaker 1: with that tatto.
- 3:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I'd to get rid of the banner because that's
- 3:52Speaker 7: not gonna tattoo.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Well mmmmm hmm, who else has that tattoo? Me and
- 3:57Speaker 1: there's some other listener who's who's rode in mine is?
- 4:01Speaker 1: I can't hardly see it, but it's back there.
- 4:03Speaker 7: Oh yeah, so you went without the banner.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I went without the banner like two years old. I
- 4:07Speaker 1: don't know if if that's new on their butt. Wow,
- 4:15Speaker 1: maybe one of them gets the squirrel and one of
- 4:17Speaker 1: them gets the sucker. Then they it's like Power Rangers.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And then we're like seating a future segment for Medea
- 4:27Speaker 1: Radio of Tattoos. I regret.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Just keep that thing going.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Uh huh. Devin will throw some ideas at you over
- 4:34Speaker 1: the next month or so on the show. Here people
- 4:36Speaker 1: are going to think on this and and uh, we're
- 4:38Speaker 1: gonna make some suggestions. All right, we have some housekeeping.
- 4:42Speaker 1: On a previous episode, we had a question about the
- 4:44Speaker 1: state knife of Texas, and this caused some angry Texans
- 4:48Speaker 1: to write in about our pronunciation. Apparently the man who
- 4:52Speaker 1: the knife is named after pronounced it Bowie, like the
- 4:55Speaker 1: thing that floats in a lake, not Bowie, like the
- 4:59Speaker 1: glam rocker who wondered if there's life on Mars. But
- 5:02Speaker 1: the most confusing part in all of this is that
- 5:04Speaker 1: David Bowie actually created that stage name because of the knife.
- 5:08Speaker 1: He said, the big giant blade is very Americana, and
- 5:11Speaker 1: then it signified his music was quote cutting through the lies.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Bowie said in a two thousand interview that he's heard
- 5:18Speaker 1: it said differently across the globe, and that quote, I
- 5:21Speaker 1: don't even know how to pronounce it anymore. But when
- 5:24Speaker 1: it comes to the knife, the answer is firmly Bowie.
- 5:28Speaker 1: My apologies to our text and listeners.
- 5:30Speaker 7: Oh yeah, if I had been here, jumped on you
- 5:32Speaker 7: about that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You knew it was Bowe of course I would. Just
- 5:36Speaker 1: you know, the most famous Bowie we have is David Bowie.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Jim Bowie boo ooe, yeah, David Bowie. Phil, You ever
- 5:46Speaker 1: sang some David Bowie at karaoke?
- 5:48Speaker 6: I was in a David Bowie cover band.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I didn't even know that.
- 5:53Speaker 6: What was it called Queen Bitches?
- 5:57Speaker 1: And what was your role in the band?
- 5:59Speaker 6: I played bass. I mean it was kind of it
- 6:02Speaker 6: was started as a joke and we only ever played
- 6:03Speaker 6: one show, but it was it was for it was
- 6:06Speaker 6: a it was an opening act for a porn movie.
- 6:08Speaker 6: So it was a blast.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You tell us more about that later at fourteen. All right,
- 6:15Speaker 1: the Shelby Index fort today is a three winner, should
- 6:18Speaker 1: get six correct answers. With that, we're onto the game
- 6:22Speaker 1: of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look, I need to
- 6:28Speaker 1: know what I stand to win everything.
- 6:31Speaker 7: I'm saying, just tend to win everybody.
- 6:40Speaker 8: I feel like Steve just does not come in with
- 6:42Speaker 8: his swagger of old anymore.
- 6:46Speaker 1: What was this swagger of old?
- 6:47Speaker 8: He'd come in just talking ship to everyone.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Wasn't here?
- 6:51Speaker 9: Yeah, he's My body's still get trying to get used
- 6:53Speaker 9: to my brain's decision.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to be out of here by three o'clock.
- 6:57Speaker 1: The wise Steve can't join us all right. Question one.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The topic is fishing. This will be multiple choice. This
- 7:03Speaker 1: is our listener question of the week, which was won
- 7:05Speaker 1: by j D. Miller for sending this great question. JD
- 7:08Speaker 1: is going to get a board game signed by the crew.
- 7:10Speaker 1: If you want a chance to win our listener question
- 7:12Speaker 1: of the week, then send your question to trivia at
- 7:14Speaker 1: the meadeater dot com. Which state is the brook trout
- 7:18Speaker 1: not native to Is it Virginia, Iowa, Arkansas, or Connecticut?

- 8:18Speaker 1: Marge Iowa, Brody Arkansas. The correct answer is Arkansas, Brody,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I changed it. Got that one Those questions to brook

- 8:38Speaker 1: and the Appalachian Mountains. The closest their native range gets
- 8:42Speaker 1: to Arkansas is about four hundred miles east in northern
- 8:45Speaker 1: Georgia and eastern Tennessee. Question to the topic is gear.
- 8:50Speaker 1: This nine letter word is defined as quote, a knitted
- 8:54Speaker 1: covering for the head and neck with an opening for
- 8:58Speaker 1: the nose and eyes worn for protection against the wind
- 9:01Speaker 1: and cold. This nine letter word is defined as a
- 9:07Speaker 1: knitted covering for the head and neck with an opening
- 9:11Speaker 1: for the nose and eyes worn for protection against wind
- 9:16Speaker 1: and cold.
- 9:16Speaker 6: Who's got the squeaky pen?
- 9:21Speaker 1: Someone who's writing? I think Steve.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He's real good at making a squeaky noise.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Brodie, you're confident your answer. You got this one right? Steve,
- 9:30Speaker 1: you got this one right? Did you know it immediately? Okay?
- 9:37Speaker 7: Players, man, I wish I got that first one right.
- 9:40Speaker 7: I can tell you that.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Is everybody ready.
- 9:44Speaker 7: I'd have a perfect game right now.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seth and
- 9:50Speaker 1: what's your board? Say Steve, it's upside down?
- 9:52Speaker 6: What the hell does that say?
- 9:55Speaker 1: We have Seth and Steve and Giannis and Randall and John.
- 9:59Speaker 1: The entire room got it right. The answer is balaklava.
- 10:03Speaker 1: The Balaklava is named after a I'm not sure, no sure,
- 10:07Speaker 1: someone will write. The Bolla Clava is named after a
- 10:12Speaker 1: Russian village where British soldiers wore them during the Crimean War.
- 10:16Speaker 1: They are commonly used by people who were hunting, fishing, snowmbiling, skiing,
- 10:20Speaker 1: or snowboarding. They are often They are often associated with
- 10:25Speaker 1: criminals who want to hide their identity, but.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Then they're just called ski masks.
- 10:30Speaker 6: First, nobody.
- 10:36Speaker 1: In Russia. Question what's the three?
- 10:39Speaker 6: But what's the Greek uh treaty?
- 10:44Speaker 7: One? Yeah, question.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Question three. The topic is hunting. A hunter named van
- 10:56Speaker 1: Pelt is the antagonist in this nineteen ninety five Robin
- 11:00Speaker 1: Williams movie.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Oh My God, Jesus this movie Once.
- 11:04Speaker 1: A hunter named Van Pelt is the antagonist in this
- 11:08Speaker 1: nineteen ninety five Robin Williams movie. Brody and Randall are
- 11:14Speaker 1: very confident they're the only players with an answer, so confident.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I am extremely confident.
- 11:20Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Last time ago, well thirty years ago. A hunter named

- 11:40Speaker 6: My guess is.
- 11:44Speaker 7: Weird shit going on around then?
- 11:45Speaker 6: Wasn't there?
- 11:46Speaker 7: He had some.
- 11:49Speaker 1: He died in twenty fourteen? Why'd you know that immediately?
- 11:54Speaker 6: Because I have a memory about reading the news when
- 11:59Speaker 6: I lived in Missoula, and I only lived in Missoula
- 12:01Speaker 6: for a short amount of time, so I knew it
- 12:02Speaker 6: was twenty fourteen.
- 12:03Speaker 1: A hunter named Van Pelt is the antagonist in this
- 12:06Speaker 1: nineteen ninety five Robin Williams movie Here's a hymn.
- 12:11Speaker 7: No, Oh, I know I got the wrong answer now.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Because ah, why do you know you have the wrong answer?
- 12:22Speaker 7: Because he's the antagonist in the movie.
- 12:25Speaker 8: I wrote down, Oh missus Dulphi will he didn't play
- 12:30Speaker 8: too many bad.
- 12:31Speaker 7: Guys one I'm thinking of. He's the antagonist.
- 12:36Speaker 1: A hunter named Van Pelt is the antagonist in this
- 12:39Speaker 1: nineteen ninety five Robin Williams movie Do Her other players
- 12:45Speaker 1: give up? Who don't have an answer? Can you know

- 13:03Speaker 1: an answer, Kl says Jumanji. Marge says hook, Brody says
- 13:09Speaker 1: night at the Museum. The correct answer is Jumanji. Three players.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That one right?
- 13:17Speaker 4: What's the latest one that had the video game that
- 13:20Speaker 4: Rock and his buddies go into Jumanji?
- 13:23Speaker 1: Well, let me tell you about it here. Jumanji was
- 13:26Speaker 1: a box office hit, as the tenth highest grossing film
- 13:30Speaker 1: of nineteen ninety five. It's about a supernatural board game
- 13:33Speaker 1: that releases jungle based hazards on its players. Jumanji sequels
- 13:38Speaker 1: were released in twenty seventeen and twenty nineteen, with another
- 13:41Speaker 1: coming in twenty twenty six. A little known addition to
- 13:44Speaker 1: the franchise came out in two thousand and five called Zathura.
- 13:48Speaker 1: The spinoff film is about a space themed board game
- 13:51Speaker 1: that releases meteor showers, aliens, and astronauts into your living room. Phil,
- 13:57Speaker 1: did you love Jumanji?
- 13:58Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah, it was heavyer tation at my babysitter's place
- 14:01Speaker 6: back in the day.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Have you seen the Thorough I have not seen the Thorough. No.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Yeah, it's like sci fi Jumanji. But the the remakes
- 14:08Speaker 6: or I guess sequels with the Rock and Kevin Hart
- 14:10Speaker 6: and everything, they're not bad. They're solid Jack Jack Black.
- 14:13Speaker 5: Yeah, everybody likes that gay everybody.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Question four the topic is public lands and this next
- 14:21Speaker 1: great question is via Derek Morin. New England's tallest mountain,
- 14:26Speaker 1: Mount Washington, is located in this state. Players have their
- 14:34Speaker 1: confidence back a lot of quick answers. New England's tallest mountain,
- 14:39Speaker 1: Mount Washington, is located in this state.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Should be called Mount buzz Kill. You can drive right
- 14:46Speaker 5: to the top of this thing.
- 14:47Speaker 7: Yeah, but it kills a lot of people.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Does kill a lot of people.
- 14:52Speaker 9: Called the buzz Kill that kills Yeah, yeah, people hiking
- 14:57Speaker 9: and crocs.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Til you get frozen.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Were just yeah driving up.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It, Randall, I bet you'd loved Jumanji.
- 15:05Speaker 6: You know.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I'm actually my memory is very faint. I could picture
- 15:09Speaker 3: Van Pelt, great mustache on that guy in a paid helmet.
- 15:11Speaker 3: If I recall, yes, I didn't like the little boy
- 15:15Speaker 3: that turned into the creature when he got didn't it
- 15:18Speaker 3: was no.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Yeah, that's upsetting. He gets very hairy.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it becomes a monkey. I didn't like that. I
- 15:23Speaker 3: didn't like there's like bugs that come after him. Things.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Don't like that.
- 15:28Speaker 3: But yeah, oh no, you know, I think it's serviceable,
- 15:32Speaker 3: light fair.
- 15:35Speaker 7: This this review can wrap up.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Oh well, we'll write down a few players.
- 15:41Speaker 9: Your Your line of question is striking me as odd, okay,
- 15:45Speaker 9: Like like I would say, let's say something weird happen,
- 15:46Speaker 9: Like let's say you see two dogs like you know, right,
- 15:50Speaker 9: you might say I might stay to Seth, like I
- 15:52Speaker 9: bet you like that, don't you Seth?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Right?
- 15:54Speaker 9: So, but for you to say, like, well, I bet
- 15:56Speaker 9: you liked Jumanji, don't.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Show you In nineteen ninety five, handle, I would have
- 16:01Speaker 1: been nine years old, nine years old when a like
- 16:03Speaker 1: a zoo base mounting wildlife.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Movie, you do this exact same thing. You just phrase
- 16:09Speaker 6: it differently, and you'll know you'll look at you and go, ynest,
- 16:14Speaker 6: you'll appreciate this, And then you say something that he
- 16:16Speaker 6: doesn't really appreciate it all.
- 16:20Speaker 7: But I stole that from Brian Callen.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Again New England's tallest mountain not Washington, because.
- 16:27Speaker 7: Brian Calm are sitting there and there's like a fret
- 16:30Speaker 7: Doug Durrant's house. There's like a farmer comes in and
- 16:32Speaker 7: no one knows anything about it. Brian Cown's telling like
- 16:36Speaker 7: one of the most grotesque stories. He's like, this dude
- 16:39Speaker 7: just coming the door. Brian Cownt goes, you'll appreciate this.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Another friend of ours starts not every story, but a
- 16:49Speaker 4: lot of them, by saying you'll like this story. It's
- 16:52Speaker 4: really funny, and then he tells you the story.
- 16:54Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because then yeah, he gets in your head.
- 16:57Speaker 7: Maybe you do wind it like.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I think assuming a nine year old Randall Williams would
- 17:02Speaker 1: have liked that movie. All right, does everyone have an
- 17:05Speaker 1: answer for New England's tallest mountain, Mount Washington, is located
- 17:09Speaker 1: in this state?
- 17:11Speaker 7: Hell, I smudged my letters?
- 17:13Speaker 1: Okay, what's your what's your deal with your micro writing today?
- 17:19Speaker 7: Cheat?
- 17:20Speaker 1: Okay, he's got to say, it's just like on each side,
- 17:23Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Seth and
- 17:27Speaker 1: Steve saying New Hampshire, Giannis says Vermont, Randall New Hampshire,
- 17:33Speaker 1: John Vermont cal New Hampshire. Marge crossed out New Hampshire
- 17:38Speaker 1: and wrote down Vermont. It says New Hampshire. The grand
- 17:44Speaker 1: direct answer is New Hampshire. About half of our room
- 17:49Speaker 1: got that one right. Thirty one of New England's thirty
- 17:53Speaker 1: four tallest peaks are located in New Hampshire. Mount Washington
- 17:57Speaker 1: is six two hundred eighty eight feet in elevate, which
- 18:00Speaker 1: is five hundred feet taller than the second place Mount Adams.
- 18:04Speaker 1: At the Mount Washington Observatory, in nineteen thirty four, a
- 18:07Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty one miles per hour wind speed
- 18:10Speaker 1: was recorded, which was the world record until nineteen ninety six.
- 18:15Speaker 6: You know, Keen, New Hampshire was the primary filming location
- 18:18Speaker 6: for what movie Lake Plaid? Jumanji?
- 18:21Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't make. Why did you know that?
- 18:24Speaker 6: Because I went there with Steve and we had dinner
- 18:26Speaker 6: with Duncan, Duncan Dayton, Dayton, Duncan Ken Burns, Guy t
- 18:31Speaker 6: and he told us all about it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Wow. And he didn't get you.
- 18:34Speaker 6: He didn't get you much.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Question five the topic is cooking. Who is the author
- 18:40Speaker 1: of Mastering the Art of French Cooking? Steve and Janni
- 18:48Speaker 1: and Brody and Randall and Cal go into their whiteboards.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Who is the author of Mastering the Art of French Cooking?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Let me see what you got?
- 19:00Speaker 6: Yeah, let me see two. I would say you're throwing
- 19:04Speaker 6: Steve a bone, but you know he was going to
- 19:05Speaker 6: be here, so.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I did not know Steve. Have you read this book?
- 19:09Speaker 7: Steve aware of it?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Okay? Do you own him?
- 19:14Speaker 7: I may.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Who?
- 19:19Speaker 7: I honestly don't own it. I mean I've held it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: But who is the author of Mastering the Art of
- 19:25Speaker 1: French Cookie?
- 19:26Speaker 7: You know it's like, to be honest with you, it's
- 19:28Speaker 7: a lot of m hmm. It's not a favorite of mine.
- 19:32Speaker 7: We get done.
- 19:32Speaker 9: I'll tell you if you want to, I'll tell you
- 19:34Speaker 9: if you want to start doing that, I'll tell you
- 19:36Speaker 9: who to read.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Okay, we have the time for you to make that declaration.
- 19:43Speaker 3: We do have to be out of here by three,
- 19:44Speaker 3: we do.
- 19:45Speaker 7: I'll do it quick.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It just takes two words, I thought, Brod he was confident.
- 19:51Speaker 1: He picked up his whiteboard awful fast. But now now
- 19:54Speaker 1: he's floundering. Who is the author of Mastering the Art
- 20:00Speaker 1: a French Cooking?
- 20:01Speaker 4: Just to make it fun?
- 20:02Speaker 5: Brody flounder?
- 20:04Speaker 7: Oh shush, what does this? What does that mean?
- 20:07Speaker 1: He wants to get it wrong. He's telling Brody, don't
- 20:12Speaker 1: try too hard. Brody, do you have an answer? Is
- 20:19Speaker 1: everybody right? Go ahead and reveal your answer. Seth without
- 20:23Speaker 1: an answer, Steve and Yanni and Randall say Julia Child.
- 20:29Speaker 1: John without an answer. Cal says, what's that say? Uh?
- 20:35Speaker 1: Marge says Julia Child. That's what I wrote, says Julia
- 20:40Speaker 1: Child's correct answer is Julia Child. About half of our
- 20:45Speaker 1: players got that one right. Southern Living magazine called that
- 20:50Speaker 1: the most famous American cookbook, while a PBS documentary declared
- 20:54Speaker 1: her America's favorite chef. Child won multiple awards for her
- 20:58Speaker 1: TV shows and cookbooks, were dying at the age of
- 21:01Speaker 1: ninety one. In two thousand and four. Danielle Pruitt said
- 21:05Speaker 1: Child was the inspiration for her duck a la Bourbon
- 21:08Speaker 1: recipe that you can get on the meat eater dot com. Steve,
- 21:12Speaker 1: what do you have to say about that cookbook? Uh?
- 21:15Speaker 7: I don't want to go negative. I'll go positive.
- 21:17Speaker 9: I think that for for like a somewhat proficient home
- 21:21Speaker 9: cook who wants to make some French dishes, I would
- 21:24Speaker 9: recommend the works of Jack Peppin otherwise known as Jacques Pepine.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Okay, count what e p I n get what's the
- 21:32Speaker 1: name of his book?
- 21:34Speaker 7: He's got Encore with Claudine.
- 21:36Speaker 9: He's got uh Jack Peppin celebrates. I call him Jack
- 21:42Speaker 9: Jackin Jack Peppin Celebrates. He's got a whole shitload of books.
- 21:45Speaker 7: I can't name them all.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Fell We're halfway through the game of trivia. Give us
- 21:49Speaker 1: a scoreboard update.
- 21:52Speaker 6: Here we are y Man, two people ahead of me,
- 21:55Speaker 6: John in last place with one point coming up next
- 21:58Speaker 6: to margin Seth with two. Tied up are Steve Giannis
- 22:01Speaker 6: and Cow with three, and in first place neck and
- 22:04Speaker 6: neck are randalln Brod. They have four points.
- 22:09Speaker 7: Question stayed man, I was like leaving.
- 22:15Speaker 1: His coat on. He was walking out there.
- 22:17Speaker 8: When your kids are playing like a sports game and
- 22:20Speaker 8: they're losing at halftime, to just leave.
- 22:27Speaker 7: Throw my hand and walk out.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Question six. The topic is hunting in this next great
- 22:35Speaker 1: question is via Tyler Hockaday. Easton Archery defines this as
- 22:41Speaker 1: an arrow's quote measurement of its stiffness. Easton Archery defines
- 22:48Speaker 1: this as an arrow's measurement of its stiffness. We're gonna
- 22:54Speaker 1: need to get Steve a new marker. I can already
- 22:57Speaker 1: see the complaints right.
- 23:03Speaker 7: What I wrote based on Randall.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Could you grab a new marker.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I'd be happy to do that.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You might not bother the It doesn't bother me, but
- 23:12Speaker 1: it bothers our listeners.
- 23:13Speaker 7: The trick is you just pressed extraordinarily hard on your march.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Okay, it's a little hot tip.
- 23:22Speaker 7: Remember sling blade.
- 23:23Speaker 9: And there's that when he the dude in the insane asylum,
- 23:27Speaker 9: like whenever he goes where he drags his chair behind him.
- 23:30Speaker 7: I'm kind of going for that.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Road Tators, not like most Easton r Tie defines this
- 23:40Speaker 1: as an arrow's measurement of its stiffness. Is everybody ready,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'm nervous. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 23:48Speaker 1: Seth and Steve and you're not going to give it
- 23:51Speaker 1: to him this time. And Cal saying spine, Marge says flex,
- 23:56Speaker 1: Brody says spleen fly, We're not going to give it
- 24:00Speaker 1: to you. Answer is spine. Simply put, the lower the
- 24:06Speaker 1: spine rating, the stiffer the arrow. Also, the more spine
- 24:10Speaker 1: and arrow has, the heavier it gets. Spine ratings usually
- 24:14Speaker 1: fall somewhere between two hundred and sixty and five hundred,
- 24:18Speaker 1: with the most common sizes being in the three to
- 24:21Speaker 1: four hundred range. Question seven, the topic is natural history.
- 24:25Speaker 7: So if you have an ED do they use that same.
- 24:30Speaker 5: This is your number. It's a little high.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Question seven, The topic is natural history. The song blank
- 24:40Speaker 1: in the Sky with diamonds was the inspiration for the
- 24:43Speaker 1: famous skeleton was discovered in an Ethiopian cave in nineteen
- 24:49Speaker 1: seventy four.
- 24:49Speaker 5: You just got moved.
- 24:52Speaker 7: I'm especially go.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Steve is mad. He thinks this is too easy. But
- 24:59Speaker 1: I think a few of them players may not get
- 25:01Speaker 1: this one. The song blank in the sky with the
- 25:04Speaker 1: diamond was.
- 25:06Speaker 7: The inspiration spelled the whole thing.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Was discovered in You don't even need to read the
- 25:12Speaker 1: nineteen seventy four You.
- 25:13Speaker 7: Don't even need to read. Just end the question at
- 25:16Speaker 7: at the sixth word.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Tell that to set Yeah, just told Tell that to John.
- 25:24Speaker 5: I don't know what.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Tell that to our listeners who are under the age
- 25:28Speaker 1: of thirty.
- 25:29Speaker 9: I would have said, what song was the inspiration for
- 25:32Speaker 9: the famous skeleton that was discovered in Ethiopia cave?
- 25:34Speaker 7: Nineties?
- 25:34Speaker 1: Anymore? Trying to make a fun game forever.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It wasn't inspired to buy.
- 25:40Speaker 1: This one. She did not. Oh really, it's.
- 25:45Speaker 8: Funny because when we were kids. We always thought it
- 25:47Speaker 8: stood for something else.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Mmmm, the song Blank in the Sky with Diamonds tale,
- 25:55Speaker 1: the famous skeleton that was discovered in the cave.
- 25:59Speaker 5: You don't know.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Oh, we're given to me hints.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we're giving a lot of answer.
- 26:04Speaker 7: I holed it, he said, Oh, I didn't do that.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Let's answers, question, answer and reveal your answer. Seth without
- 26:12Speaker 1: an answer, we have Steve and Giannis and Randall saying Lucy.
- 26:16Speaker 1: John without an answer. Cal says Lucy. Marge and Brody
- 26:21Speaker 1: say Lucy. They got it. The correct answer is Lucy.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Lucy was a human ancestor that lived about three point
- 26:29Speaker 1: two million years ago. Her skeleton was the first of
- 26:33Speaker 1: her species to ever be found. She's been called anthropology
- 26:37Speaker 1: Sweetheart and has been shown in museums across the globe.
- 26:40Speaker 1: The archaeologist who found her named her after that Beatles
- 26:43Speaker 1: song that they'd been singing all week.
- 26:45Speaker 7: I'll give you a bonus point, right, not last name?
- 26:47Speaker 7: A leaky?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Is it?
- 26:50Speaker 1: What's it? What's the question? Austral That's right, that's that,
- 26:56Speaker 1: that's like. But then there's a there's another thing after that?
- 26:59Speaker 7: Who found it?
- 27:00Speaker 5: Say?
- 27:01Speaker 6: I am not looking this up.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Blurb this morning on the bog Man that's called cheddar Man.
- 27:07Speaker 5: They did a DNA analysis and they found a like,
- 27:12Speaker 5: basically a direct relative living in the same town next
- 27:16Speaker 5: to the bog Well, yeah, three hundred years later, which
- 27:21Speaker 5: is fantastic.
- 27:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Question eight is fishing. This next great question is va
- 27:27Speaker 1: Michael grow. This ten letter word is defined as quote
- 27:31Speaker 1: a device which places a lure at the desired depth
- 27:34Speaker 1: while the boat is moving. This ten letter word is
- 27:40Speaker 1: defined as a device which places a lure at the
- 27:43Speaker 1: desired depth. Don't the boat is moving? Hated a question seven?
- 27:51Speaker 1: Hates question eight.
- 27:53Speaker 6: I say it's a lot of fun to have Steve back.
- 27:57Speaker 6: I mean that sincerely.
- 27:58Speaker 7: Well, I'll tell you all why don't like it?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Okay? This ten letter word is defined as a device
- 28:05Speaker 1: which places a lure at the desired depth while the
- 28:09Speaker 1: boat is moving. Yeah, what's your problem?
- 28:14Speaker 5: Well, because there's some other things out there, Okay that
- 28:19Speaker 5: also placed your lure at a desired depth.
- 28:25Speaker 7: I got it right.
- 28:26Speaker 9: If I didn't get it right, you'd be in hot
- 28:28Speaker 9: water right now because I just did some add Okay,
- 28:32Speaker 9: got a threat.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Maybe there's more than one there is. Spencer's already come
- 28:36Speaker 5: up with there is.
- 28:39Speaker 7: Memory you have been punched in this game.
- 28:43Speaker 1: This would be the first time. This ten letter word
- 28:49Speaker 1: is defined as a device which places a lure at
- 28:52Speaker 1: the desired debt while the boat.
- 28:55Speaker 7: I could think of a couple of things. I got
- 28:58Speaker 7: a tribute question.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Okay, who screwed up this one? This is an exact
- 29:04Speaker 1: definition from someone who makes this thing. This ten letter
- 29:09Speaker 1: word is defined as a device which places a lure
- 29:13Speaker 1: and is moving.
- 29:18Speaker 5: The only one I can think of is not ten letters.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Mmmmm, okay, see not all fishing questions? Wow, is everybody ready?
- 29:31Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers? Have set saying down rigger.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Steve says it down and he says I can't what
- 29:40Speaker 1: I say? Says down rigger, Randall downrigger, John downrigger, cal downrigger. Answer,
- 29:50Speaker 1: he says, Cannon, I couldn't remember. The correct answer is
- 29:54Speaker 1: downrigger downs or Ken dipsy diver work?
- 30:00Speaker 5: Right?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Are those brand names or.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Just a line counting reel?
- 30:05Speaker 1: What you got film?
- 30:06Speaker 6: I'm just asking that one.
- 30:08Speaker 7: Right?
- 30:09Speaker 1: You can set your depth with Downriggers are used by
- 30:12Speaker 1: fresh water and saltwater anglers to catch everything from salmon
- 30:16Speaker 1: to stripers to Wileye. Down riggers are most useful when
- 30:19Speaker 1: fishing in deep water or when you're trying to target
- 30:21Speaker 1: fish that are spread out in the water column. A
- 30:24Speaker 1: number of baits can be pulled behind a downrigger, such
- 30:27Speaker 1: as spoons, swim baits, live baits, and crank baits.
- 30:31Speaker 9: Now we have two questions, laught for sure, give us yeah, yeah,
- 30:37Speaker 9: I'll give it.
- 30:37Speaker 7: I got it right, But man, i'd be having them.
- 30:39Speaker 5: This says dipsy diver is two words by the lower
- 30:43Speaker 5: Jensen company.
- 30:46Speaker 6: We got John with three points. He is out of
- 30:49Speaker 6: the game as our margin seth with four points.
- 30:54Speaker 5: Unlike which is a ball?
- 30:59Speaker 6: So bad water you mean?
- 31:01Speaker 7: I answers you a.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Scoreboard up, I'll wait till everyone else's time. Brody has
- 31:09Speaker 6: five points, Steve, Giannis and Cal are tied up with
- 31:12Speaker 6: six and in first place. All by as lonesome as
- 31:15Speaker 6: Randall Williams seven points.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Steve's gonna punch you at the end of this game.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Well it wouldn't be the first time.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Question nine. The topic is conservation. Noah defines this as
- 31:28Speaker 1: quote soil that has sand, silt, and clay and equal
- 31:32Speaker 1: amounts whoa whoa. Noah defines this as soil that has sand, silt,
- 31:40Speaker 1: and clay in equal amounts. Seth very quick to answer, Seth,
- 31:45Speaker 1: do you have this one right?
- 31:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:47Speaker 6: It's just the only thing that I was gonna come
- 31:49Speaker 6: up with. It might work.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Why don't you glow to Steve's face?
- 31:53Speaker 5: Someone says, soil into Seth's brand.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Noah defines this as soil that had sand, silt, and
- 32:02Speaker 1: clay in equal amounts. Seth is our only confident player
- 32:09Speaker 1: right now.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Can you are you reading my body language?
- 32:12Speaker 6: Oh?
- 32:12Speaker 1: I didn't know that you have an answer? Are you confident? Randal?
- 32:15Speaker 7: No?
- 32:16Speaker 3: Okay, but I just thought that was an interesting pronouncement.
- 32:20Speaker 1: The ship in my guard soil that has sand, silt
- 32:25Speaker 1: and clay and equal amounts. Steve, do you have this
- 32:27Speaker 1: one right?
- 32:30Speaker 7: Man? I don't think so.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Okay? Oh maybe God, But it's like, so, Randall, are
- 32:42Speaker 1: you confident or not?
- 32:43Speaker 3: I have a word that popped into my head.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Okay, Uh.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'm feeling
- 32:51Speaker 3: good compared to the rest of our contestants here.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Brody now has come up with an answer. Brody, did
- 32:56Speaker 1: you get this one right now?
- 32:57Speaker 6: I don't even care anymore.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I think Steve's marker squeaking worked on you. Wasn't that
- 33:04Speaker 1: long ago?
- 33:06Speaker 7: Psychologically?
- 33:07Speaker 1: No, I've been on a tear lately. You lose there
- 33:09Speaker 1: you go? Okay. Noah defines this as soil that has sand, silt,
- 33:16Speaker 1: and clay in equal amounts. I don't know. This might
- 33:24Speaker 1: change up the scoreboard. Cal, do you have an answer?
- 33:32Speaker 6: Well?
- 33:32Speaker 5: I do, it's not.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Johanny, do you have an answer?
- 33:35Speaker 5: Answer?
- 33:36Speaker 1: You boys? Ready?
- 33:37Speaker 5: Yep?
- 33:38Speaker 1: Really, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set
- 33:41Speaker 1: saying loam. Steve says, what's I say? Lose?
- 33:46Speaker 7: Well, I could not spell.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yanni says loam, Miranda loam, John without an answer, Cal loamy,
- 33:54Speaker 1: Marge without an answer. Brody says sediment. The correct answer
- 33:58Speaker 1: is loam or soil.
- 34:00Speaker 7: Can I get it with this because you can tell
- 34:02Speaker 7: I knew the word.
- 34:03Speaker 6: No.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's part of like soil nutrient, that's
- 34:10Speaker 1: some other thing in nature. Loam is found from the
- 34:14Speaker 1: plains to the forests. It's considered the finest soil for farming,
- 34:18Speaker 1: which is why it's so concerning that top soil is
- 34:21Speaker 1: disappearing ten times faster than it's being replaced. Native plants
- 34:25Speaker 1: are an important part of soil conservation because they provide
- 34:28Speaker 1: windbreaks and riparian buffers. Here's a correct answer review so far.
- 34:33Speaker 1: One was Arkansas, Two was Balaclava. Three, Jumanji four, New
- 34:38Speaker 1: Hampshire five, Julia Child six, Spine seven, Lucy eight Downrigger
- 34:45Speaker 1: nine loam Phil. Give us one last scoreboard update before
- 34:48Speaker 1: we do question teen.
- 34:50Speaker 6: Oops, sorry, video people, I just faded to black.
- 34:53Speaker 7: Uh.
- 34:53Speaker 6: Here we are. It's down to Randall, Jannis and Cow.
- 34:56Speaker 6: Jannis and Cow have seven points apiece and Randall has eight.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 7: I wasn't gonna bring this up, but I actually knew
- 35:03Speaker 7: that last one. I had written it down and then
- 35:08Speaker 7: I took it away and wrote something different.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Question ten.
- 35:12Speaker 7: So if you think about it, if Randall gets this
- 35:15Speaker 7: one wrong, it could have been that I want.
- 35:17Speaker 1: We'll think about it. There's question ten. The topic is conservation.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Name two of the seven states that have exactly two
- 35:27Speaker 1: national parks. Name two of the seven states that have
- 35:34Speaker 1: exactly two national parks exactly exactly. Don't put down. One
- 35:43Speaker 1: that has ten, don't put down it has one states
- 35:47Speaker 1: that have exactly two national parks.
- 35:56Speaker 6: He's like, he's like Quinton Jaws coming into the board.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Randall, Do you have this one right?
- 36:08Speaker 6: I believe so.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Steve even mentioned in the last question that it's what
- 36:13Speaker 1: he has in his garden, which I bet he's correct.
- 36:15Speaker 1: There you are using.
- 36:17Speaker 7: Loan told you I had it right. Shouldn't I be
- 36:20Speaker 7: able to go off that comment?
- 36:21Speaker 1: And then two of the seven states that have exactly
- 36:25Speaker 1: two national parks?
- 36:28Speaker 7: God, I want to win so bad.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Do you have this one right?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Steve?
- 36:32Speaker 9: Oh shit, No, I don't have this one right. I
- 36:35Speaker 9: didn't really think about it too terrible heart either, So
- 36:37Speaker 9: I don't think I can win. No matter what I mean,
- 36:39Speaker 9: I can't.
- 36:39Speaker 7: It's right you can't.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Randall. How do you feel about your answer?
- 36:44Speaker 3: I feel like if I get it wrong, I'm gonna
- 36:46Speaker 3: feel very stupid. Okay, but I feel fairly confident.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yanni, do you have this one right?
- 36:52Speaker 5: All right? Good guess going?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Okay?
- 36:54Speaker 6: Cal?
- 36:54Speaker 1: Do you have this one right?
- 36:57Speaker 5: I feel stupid already?
- 36:58Speaker 1: What and who are we down to again?
- 37:01Speaker 6: Randall has eight He is in first place, and then
- 37:03Speaker 6: Giannis and Cal are tied up in seven behind. Yeah.
- 37:05Speaker 8: I kind of feel like Randall was calling everyone who
- 37:07Speaker 8: gets this question wrong stupid.
- 37:10Speaker 1: No, I'll just we're against that kind of language here.
- 37:14Speaker 3: No, No, it's just it's the particulars of my answer.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Two.
- 37:19Speaker 6: For the sports people, Randall Spencer in the room, is
- 37:21Speaker 6: there some sort of analogy we could make about like
- 37:22Speaker 6: a player coach who was like, you know, just they're
- 37:26Speaker 6: just in their prime and they stepped away from the
- 37:28Speaker 6: game and came back and the game had changed and
- 37:30Speaker 6: left them behind.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Uh, left them?
- 37:34Speaker 7: Where's this going?
- 37:35Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 37:37Speaker 1: It'd be like if Michael Jordan wasn't good after he
- 37:39Speaker 1: came back from from baseball.
- 37:41Speaker 7: Yeah, there you go.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Name two of the seven states that have exactly two
- 37:45Speaker 1: national parks. Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers.
