- 0:00Quadrant 42 could be the make or break for Star Citizen.
- 0:08I think the one thing it has going forward is it's, I mean, I
- 0:13know they want to put it on a console release, so it's going
- 0:15to have to compete with GTA6 at some point.
- 0:24Now GTA 6 was delayed again to this year to to the summer of of
- 0:28of 2026. So who knows if that's even
- 0:31going to if they're still going to release it.
- 0:33That's been delayed several Times Now, but they're supposed
- 0:37to come out in the summer. Any game that releases anywhere
- 0:41close to to the behemoth of GTA is is is is stupid to release
- 0:48anywhere close to them because all eyes will be on will be on
- 0:52GTA. So they have to make sure that
- 0:55they do not release the same month.
- 0:58Well, but I would say. Within two months of it.
- 1:00Isn't a caveat to that is that GTA isn't going to be on PC for
- 1:04at least a year past it's released?
- 1:06Yeah, but Robert, Chris Roberts always said that he wanted to
- 1:09make sure Squadron 42 is playable on console.
- 1:13Yeah, he did too. Yeah, well.
- 1:16Well, let's think. I mean that that was maybe a
- 1:20little bit weird before, but now with the RAM crisis and
- 1:25everything like that, I mean Constable is kind of your only
- 1:28profitable Ave. after a little while.
- 1:31I don't know if that's still the the goal, but obviously we know
- 1:35from playing Star Citizen that the the the the the hardware
- 1:41requirements to have a good looking, good playing game right
- 1:44now because it's unoptimized are very high.
- 1:48Yeah, although I would say that if, if, if Squadron 42 is going
- 1:57to release no later than December of 2026, let's, let's
- 2:02give them that big buffer. They have the whole year to
- 2:05release it, right, Because they didn't give a firm date of
- 2:08anything. They just said the year 2026.
- 2:10So now they have 12 months to release it.
- 2:12If you don't start seeing a bunch of hype trailers and a
- 2:14bunch of marketing happening starting I'd say in February,
- 2:18latest March, it's not going to release this year because you
- 2:24want to build that hype. You want to start building that
- 2:26hype. If they were smart, the Gillian
- 2:29Anderson's, the Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill.
- 2:35What's the other dude? Reeves Roths or something, I
- 2:38forget. There's so many actors that
- 2:40played roles in in the making a Squadron 42.
- 2:43If they don't have them, if they don't have them on the hype
- 2:46train, Yeah, if they don't have these folks on the hype train
- 2:50pumping out support for this title this year, I don't think
- 2:54it's going to happen. They'd be stupid not to.
- 2:57They need to spend that money to that make it happen.
- 2:59They need to build excitement for this game like nothing else.
- 3:03And I think all that right, all that good graces of Squadron 42
- 3:08releasing and having a mag, you know, a mag.
- 3:12A giant success, basically bigger than anything they could
- 3:16ever dream of. If that happens, it's going to
- 3:19be nothing but a boon for us and, and, and Star Citizen,
- 3:22because then there's going to be so many people that want to
- 3:25continue the journey, right? And not wait for chapter two or
- 3:28three of Squadron 42 that they've talked about.
- 3:31Who knows how long that's going to take to happen, But in the
- 3:34meantime, you can play the MMO Star Citizen, and that's where
- 3:38you need that new blood to come in and play this game that we
- 3:41all love and enjoy. So all of us can prey upon the
- 3:45bobs. Well, I wouldn't say that, but
- 3:48you know, you need, you need to help, you need to constantly
- 3:51have new blood in your game or the game just becomes stagnant
- 3:56and dies over time. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:00I mean, you look at a game of this scope, I mean, the Squadron
- 4:0442 with that kind of star power, you're seeing it, you know, as a
- 4:09panel at Comic Con, you know, San Diego Comic Con.
- 4:13And I could see that, You know, hopefully they do do that.
- 4:16I mean, they have the budget for it.
- 4:17They can, and it deserves that. But Star Citizen is really the
- 4:23title, you know, because your average gamer doesn't know
- 4:26Squadron 42. They know, Star Citizen, they
- 4:29know. They don't know it yet, Star
- 4:31Citizen. That's what gets point to this
- 4:34is their chance to use all those actors who they already spent
- 4:37tons of money on. They've got to use this
- 4:39opportunity to get people playing the game.
- 4:43You know, if they're smart, they're going to be, they're,
- 4:46they're going to set up booths at Comic Con, they're going to
- 4:48set up booths at, at whatever conventions there are.
- 4:53They're going to put little playable demos in front of
- 4:55people. You know, if they can just play
- 4:56for 5-10 minutes and it has to be fucking flawless.
- 4:59So the word gets out that holy shit, this is like next damn
- 5:03level. Des Moines Library Con.
- 5:06If, if, if they, if they can do something like that and, and,
- 5:10and bring that to bring that level of excitement to the
- 5:13table. This is nothing but a good thing
- 5:15for us. If it doesn't happen or it gets
- 5:18a slow roll and it gets a slow head of steam, it's going to be
- 5:22a death knell to, to, to the Squadron 42.
- 5:25And it may be even to us because we're not going to get what
- 5:29we're wanting or we are going to get it and it's just going to
- 5:33take even that much longer. But if they get the hype out
- 5:35there, if if the machine churns and that churn starts generating
- 5:39income and generating new eyes and new, new experiences for new
- 5:43players and the word gets out, you know, it just takes a couple
- 5:47of decent content creators on on the Internet to to to find this
- 5:51title and, you know, last it, you know, signal boost like
- 5:55crazy. And next thing you know, you
- 5:59know, you're going to have all this, all this new blood into
- 6:02the, into the, into the universe of Star Citizen.
- 6:06And that's only a good thing. It's going to, there's going to
- 6:08be some negatives along with it also, obviously.
- 6:11But overall, I think it's a net positive.
- 6:14Yeah. OK.
- 6:15So 2026 ahead of us. We're all.
- 6:19Let's just, let's just put it out there.
- 6:22Do you think Squadron 42 will release in 2026?
- 6:26We'll go around. I'll start off.
- 6:29I'm going to say no. I'll be a negative Nancy about
- 6:32it. I don't think it will.
- 6:33Lord Anubis, what do you think? I think I have the correct
- 6:38answer which is yes. OK, wicked, what do you think?
- 6:46I think also yes, and I think it has to release this year.
- 6:52OK, hobo. I'll agree with Wicked.
- 6:55Yes, and it has to release this year.
- 6:58Lots of positivity. For another gauntlet.
- 7:01Duke. I'm going to shirk the
- 7:05positivity and instead say that it has to release this year like
- 7:10it has to the you know, Chris is going to be in there chaining
- 7:14people to their desk if it's looking like it's not going to
- 7:17happen. Crotch mullet.
- 7:21Chris Roberts, The Big Bad and Swan, 42.
- 7:25Yeah, he plays a vandal. He he has a vandal.
- 7:29He, he, it has to, I really do think.
- 7:31He's a grimandi. I think so.
- 7:34See even they they didn't do citizen Khan and I, I have a
- 7:38feeling it just they just wanted to pull everyone waste less
- 7:42time. You guys are Manchester.
- 7:48Murphy. Hell, I say no.
- 7:55There we. Go.
- 7:56Sensible person. Wow.
- 7:58Yeah, I, I, I just, I have a feeling and nothing against
- 8:04them. I just, I can, I, can I give a
- 8:08percentage? How about a percentage?
- 8:10I say. Say whatever you want.
- 8:12I'm at 60% no, 40% yes. Right now he's.
- 8:16Hedging his bets already. Right now, Why?
- 8:20He's the Guild leader. This is why he's the Guild.
- 8:22Leader, but I'd actually take it 6040.
- 8:25That's not a bad. I'm not a bad.
- 8:27Take I'm not as strong, no, but I'm leaning towards no, I'm
- 8:32leaning towards I, I well, I just say I see it early spring
- 8:372027. OK.
- 8:41Yeah, just. Hold on, we got.
- 8:45One more. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:46I'm sorry. Sorry, I'm going to have to say
- 8:49I think it releases this year you.
- 8:53Mean tomorrow. Oh, that would be.
- 8:59Damn. OK.
- 9:00That's awesome. All right, Yeah.
- 9:02I'll take that bet. Yeah.
- 9:04Hey, man, those those odds are going to be long, but the payoff
- 9:06is going to be. Big they they they got that
- 9:10ChatGPT super account that just like enables the entire the
- 9:14entire global AI for the. If if I may 2026, I think it's
- 9:21gonna happen late 2026. Is it possible for them to not
- 9:25release it in 2026 and still technically meet their promises?
- 9:32I. Mean early 20. 27.
- 9:33Twist. That's why.
- 9:35That's why I say that. But.
- 9:36Would that still meet their promises?
- 9:38What, like, what's the wordage that you're using to twist
- 9:40around and say what, what could Chris say and release then and
- 9:45be like, no, we, we did exactly what we said.
- 9:49The holidays there's. Not any really reasonable.
- 9:52OK, that's what I was just trying to think of it where
- 9:54there's some weasel words. Because they've said explicitly
- 9:572026 on more than one occasion. Yeah, but did they say release?
- 10:02I mean, maybe they maybe it's done, you know, the end of
- 10:05262026, they could be like it's done.
- 10:08This is a feature complete. Argument.
- 10:10It's ready. To be it's ready to be released,
- 10:13but we're not going to release it yet.
- 10:15It's ready to be tested if you buy a ship.
- 10:18Well they did have to redo the graphics for the game because it
- 10:23has been so long since they did the mocap that the engine has
- 10:27changed and the textures now could be updated and they did
- 10:32redo all of that. I I don't want to be negative,
- 10:38but who's excited for Squadron 42?
- 10:42I am that would. Be cool, yeah?
- 10:45I'm great I. Want to?
- 10:47Feel the lore of this. Universe.
- 10:49I've been playing in for like a decade and the best way to do
- 10:53that is a single player game. Like, we've seen bits and pieces
- 10:56of it, and you can read plenty here and there, but I want to
- 11:01feel the universe. I want to have like
- 11:06organizations, names and characters that I'm like, Oh
- 11:09yes, cool. I just want to make a sense.
- 11:15Of if I'm. Crazy if they properly implement
- 11:17controller support. I first started playing.
- 11:23Yeah, Robert's games Super Wing Commander one on the computer
- 11:27like a 360X2 a long time ago and I bought a Panasonic 3D O.
- 11:33It's because they were the Super Wing Commander on it in the 90s
- 11:38at some point. I don't even remember which year
- 11:40it was. And we were the other person
- 11:42with the 3D O. Yeah.
- 11:45And Wing Commander Armada and and Wing Commander the mercenary
- 11:53one. I mean, just every game that
- 11:54Chris Roberts has put out a Blade, Star Lancer, whatever.
- 11:57So I'm really looking forward to watching 42 personally, you
- 12:02know, and that was before I even knew there was going to be, I
- 12:06was never really excited about the, the, our citizen, the, the
- 12:13multiplayer game. I was always more concerned with
- 12:15the single player game. That was before, you know, I
- 12:20started playing Star Citizen and, you know, met a lot of
- 12:22these nice folks here and really started enjoying it.
- 12:25But as far as I'm concerned, that's that was one of my main
- 12:30reasons for even being here, yeah.
- 12:35OK, so we get Squadron 2026. It it comes out then we are, we
- 12:44are right on the precipice of Star Citizen releases.
- 12:49It's it's Christmas time, they released Squadron and Chris
- 12:52Roberts has a big announcement. It's well received.
- 12:55Everybody cheers and fucking nerds smashing soda cans on
- 13:00their heads. Everyone's stoked.
- 13:02And Chris Roberts says on our next project in 2027, Squadron
- 13:0842, Chapter 2. How do you?
- 13:13React goes wild. I'll be annoyed.
- 13:18I'd be annoyed. I would say that that would be
- 13:24suicide for the game project because again, Squadron 42, I
- 13:30will play for a week, maybe a month, right.
- 13:34But you know, our citizen is my 1015 year game.
- 13:41I could see it being that, you know, I mean, it's it's a
- 13:45forever game. It's the place where I get to
- 13:48see my friends. It's more than just a game.
- 13:51And that's where the money is. I hope they do continue to sell
- 13:56ships forever, you know, and then they release them a couple
- 14:00months later to buy with a UEC. OK, cool.
- 14:02But I do hope that they do keep, you know, the incentive to keep
- 14:06it funded, to keep it updated and to keep it live.
- 14:15Yeah. OK.
- 14:16Any any other takes on that? The next goal should be at one
- 14:21point O. Yeah.
- 14:23It should be one point. O need to end.
- 14:27Yes, they announced that. I think a lot of people will be
- 14:29upset. I mean, it's, we've been being
- 14:31told for years now that development of Star solution is
- 14:35held up because everyone's working on Squadron and I think
- 14:41we're all sort of expecting, you know, to some extent the
- 14:45floodgates to open up for, for progress to be a little easier
- 14:51and a little more impactful. 1 squadron is done and for them to
- 14:57announce we're, we're still going to keep just five people
- 15:01working on Star Citizen while everyone else works on, you
- 15:04know, chapter 2. Now people be pissed.
- 15:08Chapter 2 after Star Citizen goes to one point O awesome.
- 15:12I I look forward to it, but not before.
- 15:15On one point O's release, I want Chris to come out and say well
- 15:20and crying, of course we did it, we did it now onwards and he's
- 15:27like Squadron 42 Chapter 2/20/20 I don't know 8.
- 15:32No 20/30/20 Be be honest. That's David.
- 15:38Beckham meme with. With his wife.
- 15:41Be be honest. Yeah, be honest.
- 15:45Quadrant. 43.
