- 2:43start out, though, but getting into one of my favorite topics, and
- 2:46that's music. And the only thing better than me talking music is me getting
- 2:49talk getting to talk to some local music. And when I say local,
- 2:53I mean I mean a guy who is from here but is now going national
- 2:58and worldwide and has been for some time. Stephen Thomas is his name,
- 3:00and he's joined us this morning to the par Mar Store studio. Stephen,
- 3:04good morning, Welcome to the show man. Hey, what's up? Good
- 3:06morning, Dave. How you doing. You got to see how things really
- 3:08work behind the scenes here because we had a moment of panic just before you
- 3:12went on with some technical issues and computer issues and printer issues or whatever.
- 3:15And I literally came downstairs and shook your head and said, nice to meet
- 3:21you. I gotta I got some stuff. So it's uh, it's but
- 3:24once once the on air light comes on, just like you know, I
- 3:27know you've been doing some TV stuff. It's all magic, right, It's
- 3:30all magic, all magic, man. Listen, it's been it's been crazy.
- 3:34But you know what, It's okay though, because it all worked right.
- 3:37It all works out. As my dad used to say, it'll either
- 3:38work out or it won't right, So that father logic, right, father
- 3:44logic. Man, We gonna make it work though. You just you just
- 3:46got to find a way. You just got to find a way, man.
- 3:47So for those who don't know, give us the buyo on on.
- 3:51Stephen Thomas. Let's see, I am a number two iTunes charting artist,
- 3:57been considered for a total of five Grammys from the state of West Virginia.
- 4:00Represent the West, represent the state very well as much as I can.
- 4:03Now. Now we're as home for you. Where are you from? Charleston?
- 4:08Can't get more local than that, right, can't get more local,
- 4:10man, Charleston is where I'm from for sure. Let's see, man,
- 4:13I've dj' on ninety eight point seven, so we're one oh seven point three.
- 4:16So shout out the DJ what he was, Shout out the nephew,
- 4:19running, running and producing back here at one. The next generation, the
- 4:23next generation, you know what I mean. Got to shout him out,
- 4:26and uh man, you know so. I've filmed a couple of music videos
- 4:30in West Virginia as well. Best Days Like It or Not. Best Days
- 4:32was the song that hit number two on the charts, and just recently,
- 4:38I just released a new single called back Home, a new song called back
- 4:41Home, and it has been gaining a lot of media attraction, which I'm
- 4:45sure that's while we're here today, So that's a that's a great thing.
- 4:48And we have been on Now I am now a new and recent active rock
- 4:55mainstream radio consecutive can a six week well now going on seven week consecutive charting
- 5:03artists for radio. I mean, and I listened to your hop at your
- 5:06interview on Hoppy Yes a couple of weeks ago that you did, and if
- 5:11anybody stopped you in an elevator or at a restaurant said what kind of music
- 5:15do you do? You would probably say sit down? How much time have
- 5:17you got? Right right? Right right? I definitely would. I definitely
- 5:20would, because I am that artist that is universal. I'm a universal artist
- 5:25all the way through and through. And uh, I've man, I'm probably
- 5:28gonna be at about seven different genres by the time I'm done. And uh
- 5:31and one of those obviously you said active rock. Yeah, so it be,
- 5:34so it'd be. I started on a Christian music crossed over into R
- 5:38and B. I have pop, I now have rock and of course alternative,
- 5:44and then I'm getting ready to go and then I guess, and then
- 5:48R and B of course, and then like I said, and then you
- 5:50have a country getting ready to go country? So actually want to last opera?
- 5:56I mean, man, you know what, that's a hard one.
- 5:58I just met somebody just mess upbody in New York. I just we just
- 6:00came from New York. As I was telling As I was telling my man'
- 6:03z Dog, I call you z Dog, Steve Animal. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:06man, he's so funny. But I was just telling him. I
- 6:09was like, man, we just came from New York and we were just
- 6:12filming actually the music video for back Home. So and I was telling I
- 6:15met somebody that sings opera and I'm like, I don't know how you do
- 6:17it. I just don't get I don't know how y'all do all of that.
- 6:20Like I really I think that is just something special that you really like.
- 6:26You just have to really learn that thing. I don't know how they
- 6:28do it. I just don't get it. So I'm going to presume,
- 6:31like when I talk to any musician, they always say that there was never
- 6:33a time in their life that music wasn't a part of it. I'm gonna
- 6:36go ahead and guess that was probably the way that you came up as well.
- 6:41Yes, uh, you know what's really funny. I mean, whether
- 6:43it's music in the home or the church or whatever, Well, what's really
- 6:46funny is that music was just all in my DNA before I was even born
- 6:49exactly, I kid you not. So I'm my mother's miracle baby, which
- 6:54is pretty cool, right, but not only in my her miracle baby.
- 6:57But the only time that they could get me to move inside the womb is
- 7:00either she drunk mountain dew. I kid, you not tell you the most
- 7:03West Virginia thank the most West Virginia thing, right, So she had to
- 7:06drink mountain dew, or or they play music. And they said most of
- 7:12the time they have to do both, and a lot of times they had
- 7:14to play music. So then after I'm born, I'm just this cool little
- 7:17baby that was crying, right. So then the only way they can get
- 7:20me to be quiet was they played music videos. So I'm like one or
- 7:23two years old watching music videos on TV. She says, the best thing
- 7:27for me to do. I was the best baby. I was, like,
- 7:29for real, she said, was it? So it's been in me?
- 7:31No, were some of those early influences for you as a baby when
- 7:34you're watching the music videos? Oh you know what, I probably don't remember,
- 7:39but I'll tell you this though. My dad man, and you know
- 7:43my mom she's you know, all about the church background, but my dad
- 7:46was all about the James Brown and the Stylistics and you know, the boys
- 7:48to men guys and then then he comes out of nowhere, left field and
- 7:53ends up liking Randy Travis. I was like with them the world it is
- 7:57so the next thing I know, now it's just getting in me like that
- 8:00diversification is really getting in me. Of listening to a Randy Travis, a
- 8:05Chris Stapleton, adjusted Timberlake, a Blink one eighty two. Now I'm listening
- 8:09to you know, the Ray Charles, the Stevie one is the Chris Browns,
- 8:13the Usher. So I mean I just named so many different artists,
- 8:16so many different places. Michael Jackson, Prince, you know, it's Lenny
- 8:20Kravitz. Like, it's just ridiculously crazy that all of this is in me.
- 8:26Caine Brown, Jimmy Allen, I have my country record is gonna be
- 8:28a Jimmy Allen, a Caine Brown and a Justin bieber On one. That's
- 8:33that's gonna be something that I can't There's gonna be somebody here. Here's the
- 8:37thing about though, Steven and I have said this, and it's a lot
- 8:39easier now for people to experience different types of music because it's at your fingertips,
- 8:45it's on your phone, it really is. I'm an old guy,
- 8:46Okay, I'm a gen X guy. What so so growing up growing up
- 8:50in the seventies and eighties, ok I mean, we had we had to
- 8:52really reach and a lot of us discovered various genres of music because of albums
- 8:58that we had that My father was all he was in a gospel group,
- 9:03but he was all over the place as far as his music goes. He
- 9:05you know, little Richard. I grew up listening to Little Richard, who
- 9:07was the king of rock and roll. By the way, with all due
- 9:09respect that Little Richard advantage, so but a little bit. But then on
- 9:13the other side of the family, you know, we had so many different
- 9:16genres. My grandfather loved classic country music. Yes, And so my point
- 9:22is in saying that is to say, nothing irritates me more than people to
- 9:26say I like rap, I like pop, I like give everything a chance
- 9:31and they find something that you like because you never I mean, you never
- 9:35know. And honestly, that is what happened with my song back Home.
- 9:37That is literally what's been happening so exclusive news while we were performing behind the
- 9:43scenes on you know, while I was recording the music video of in New
- 9:48York A couple of days ago. We're in Brooklyn. I'm I'm around the
- 9:50Brooklyn Bridge Dumbo area, and I kid you not, like we have his
- 9:54speaker. I'm just performing live. Everybody's listening. But then people just stop.
- 10:00They just start watching me just perform live, and of course I'm doing
- 10:03the song, but they don't understand, like we're really shooting the video.
- 10:07So as we're shooting the video, our kid you not. I have different
- 10:11ethnicities, so many different people from different countries coming to us between takes,
- 10:18asking my my director, asking my my my manager, asking the stylist,
- 10:22like asking coming to me and saying, hey, can we get a picture?
- 10:26Can we find out? Like who is this guy? This song is
- 10:30called? What is it called? What is you know? Where is this
- 10:31from? And all of these people are from different countries. They're from I
- 10:37mean Russia. I met a lady from from like China, Asia, I
- 10:41mean, you know, America. I mean just all of these different places
- 10:46and they're coming and asking about this song. Yeah, that's good stuff,
- 10:50and I'm like, that's that's we went super international now, baby, So
- 10:54how do you go from me and the kid I mean you said, you
- 10:56know, you did radio here, you were on the beat and and how
- 10:58but how do you know from the skid from Charleston, suddenly you're filming a
- 11:01music video in Brooklyn? How does that happen? Oh Man? Number one?
- 11:07God, for sure, it's just been a blessing. And the next
- 11:11thing would be, I've been at this since I was seventeen, released my
- 11:16first album at seventeen, and I just kept going from there, and I
- 11:20just kept building, kept building, kept building. And you know, a
- 11:22lot of people, you know, we talk about how I guess they would
- 11:26say because of the population in different places, different states, they have more
- 11:31of a population than we do. So I'm like, yeah, and it
- 11:33makes it tough sometime because you got to work a little extra harder, you
- 11:37know what I mean, to really get that recognition or to get in touch
- 11:41with those resources that you know that you may need that some other places don't
- 11:45have. So I would say, you know, going from that to now,
- 11:48it's just been a building stage. Like it's just been building block after
- 11:54building block after building block. And that's and that's what I would say.
- 11:56I've just stayed persistent. I mean, starting you know here in Charleston,
- 12:01you know, getting myself around what he was, getting myself around people that
- 12:05are in my area and my lifestyle of where I was looking to go,
- 12:11and now here it is that I'm in it. Wow, that's amazing,
- 12:13you know what I'm saying. So where do we go from here? Man?
- 12:16Up? Right? Right? Besides up, all I can say is
- 12:20that from the way it's looking, man, we're being told that I'm next.
- 12:26That's just that's just what the multiple of people that have heard this song,
- 12:33they're like, man, when it's getting ready to happen, and so
- 12:37we know it's coming. We just know it's coming. And I mean not
- 12:41only that, but I mean I just feel My first Amazon Music commercial for
- 12:45back Home, Back Home hit over nine hundred thousand views by itself. The
- 12:50Amazon Music commercial has almost hit a million views by itself, and it's my
- 12:56first first Amazon Music commercial ever. And so we have that going on.
- 13:01Then you also have a shoot, we're getting ready to release another another record
- 13:07called stay Strong. So now I'm getting ready to get prepared for that release
- 13:11that's coming. Shout out to the military, Shout out to people that are
- 13:13dealing with diseases and life and things like that. It's gonna be dedicated to
- 13:18them, and that was called stay Strong. And then I just got out
- 13:20of the studio right before I went to New York and recorded another record.
- 13:24I just don't know who we want to name it yet. I just don't
- 13:28know what I want to name that one yet. But I mean, we're
- 13:31we're building the catalog, and it seems like active rock for right now is
- 13:35the It seems like rocking the rocking alternative is the thing for me. But
- 13:39the crazy part is is that the pop genres and and other genres are picking
- 13:43this song up unexpectedly. We didn't even market this song in the Christian rock
- 13:48market pop, we didn't market this song there, and back Home is getting
- 13:52picked up unexpectedly in different genres. That's that's what it's all about, too.
- 13:58And it's about bringing And again I'm not trying to sound like I'll go
- 14:01all we all we are the world here right right, But but this is
- 14:03what music is supposed to do. It's universe supposed to bring people together together.
- 14:09And for people to say, well you shouldn't like that because you look
- 14:11like this, or because you're this color or whatever, you should what difference
- 14:15does it make music since you said it right. Yeah, that is the
- 14:18funny part. Yeah, so it's been. It's been one of those matter
- 14:22of fact, even the guitar guy. So you know, I just told
- 14:26you. I had another interview yesterday, like we had to go in it.
- 14:28We had to be in another state. And here it is. We
- 14:31did this. We did this interview yesterday and the guy that played the guitar
- 14:35for me, his name is John and shout out to John Man. He
- 14:37really looked out. But I kid you not. One of the things that
- 14:39he said was he said, some buddies of his send him in the article
- 14:43from Toms West Virginia and Fairmont. They did a story on me and last
- 14:48week he said, man, I've seen this and he said, so,
- 14:50I got the article, I saw your picture and then they played the song.
- 14:56He said said, wait, these two didn't add up. It's just
- 14:58like I said, yeah, I said, totally understandable of me. And
- 15:01that is like the best thing because I am the element of surprise to you.
- 15:07And when you hear this and then you see me, you're like,
- 15:11where did this come from? And I'm like, that is the most beautiful
- 15:13thing, because a masterpiece comes from the most awkwardest places in life. That's
- 15:18a good way to end it. But I do want to find out where
- 15:22can people learn more about you? Where can they get your music? We're
- 15:24going to listen to your music. And where are you headed next? Well?
- 15:28Follow me at Stephen T Music on instagram s, t E p h
- 15:31e N T Music, Stephen T Music on Instagram, all social media,
- 15:35stephntmusic dot com, on my website, and where we're headed to next?
- 15:39Man? Who knows? All I know is we're just we're busy. So
- 15:43I do know. I got some interviews coming up. We got LA coming
- 15:46up. So I got some we got some we got some stuff coming up,
- 15:50man, And I think the all I can say is I won't even
- 15:54say. I think I'll say I know. But the music video is going
- 15:56to be crazy. I can't wait till everyone gets to really see it.
- 16:00And man, Dave, I hope you check it out. I will and
- 16:03share it, man, Just tell everyone to share back home, Please share
- 16:07back home, tag it, tag me, tag Dave, share this interview,

- 17:02like that. I'm seeing comments of people asking when is he performing here?
- 17:04And I'm like, look, I can't say anything. I don't have no
- 17:07control over nothing. But all I know is I'm ready to come back home
- 17:11and do the dog one thing, all right, man, well, I
- 17:14think you're gonna do the dog gun thing. I really do, Steven Thomas.

- 20:30I come in here every day and I say I'm not going to talk about
- 20:32it, and I get ten texts people wanted to talk about it. I
- 20:37didn't want to go down that road. But you got anything you want to
- 20:40add to that? Before we get to things in West Virginia. You know,
- 20:41if I was a West Virginia Democrat candidate, I'd be really concerned about
- 20:45one Biden's cognitive behavior and how that affects your cancy here in West Virginia,
- 20:51but also his failed policies. I don't know how Biden's go get above thirty
- 20:55percent of the state. I know we're heavy Trump but that's going to have
- 20:59some down ballot applications that you know, if I'm rtning state wide as a
- 21:03Democrat, I'm afraid for my life. Right now, I want to talk
- 21:07to you, Chris about something that just hit earlier this week. I guess
- 21:11you called it the twenty twenty five Pathway to Prosperity Agenda. What I'd like
- 21:15to do, if you don't mind, is I would just like to I
- 21:19guess I say this kind of a wish list or goals. Is that?
- 21:23Is that pretty much? A? Yeah? Yeah. We typically released this
- 21:27right before legslay session with some specific ass of the legislature. This time around,
- 21:32we're starting in July because we see an unprecedented opportunity once we elect Patrick
- 21:37Morrissey as our next governor. One, he's a big policy champion and he's
- 21:41going to take on those tough challenges. But two, Dave, we've never
- 21:45had a day one Republican governor with super majorities in the House and Senate that's
- 21:49willing to take on this and get some big policy wins. So we released
- 21:53our Pathway to Prosperity legslave Agenda this past week. It has some broad issues
- 21:59we want to talk about and get salency with the people of West Virginia.
- 22:03And we're going to be connecting people at the door, which is what we
- 22:07do. It's the thing we do every election cycle. But now we're switching
- 22:11to more policy focus. We talk to people, thousands of people every week
- 22:15about these broad policy issues. But also we're doing some radio buys, we're
- 22:19doing some digital buys to really get radio buys. Yep, yep, it's
- 22:23coming day, don't we Right now, you have my attention, Go ahead,
- 22:26But we're gonna be talking about these issues at a very broad level because
- 22:30we want to set the foundation for what we believe will be some big policy
- 22:34wins coming down the pipeline in twenty twenty five. And beyond, what I
- 22:37want to do is I want to take the bullet points that you put out
- 22:41on this I just want to have you to expand upon everyone, to expand
- 22:45education freedom. Yeah. So, Dave, we have some of the best
- 22:48education laws in the country. We have a great open enrollment law. We
- 22:52passed the Hope Scholarship, which you saw is going to expand in twenty twenty
- 22:56six to all students outside of the public schools system. Really, what our
- 23:00focus needs to be on is public schools. How do we fix public schools?
- 23:04So do we need to remove barriers that prevent teachers from teaching? How
- 23:08do we allow teachers to individualize students and they're learning just like you can get
- 23:14outside of the public school realm? And frankly, we keep spending more and
- 23:18more money on public schools, but a lot of that's going to administrative bloat,
- 23:22and frankly, more of it needs to be going to teachers and helping
- 23:26teachers and supporting them at the school level to help their students really succeed.
- 23:30To fix health care, you and everyone else wanted to fix healthcare, But
- 23:34what specifically would you want does your want to get done? Yeah, healthcare
- 23:38is too expensive, it's too complicated. My fiance is a nurse practitioner.
- 23:42She complains about it every single day and she works in a a health clinic.
- 23:47But our number one priority is we have to get rid of certificate knee
- 23:52laws in this state. For your listeners that don't know what certificate need is,
- 23:56it's a government board that okays. When a okay is when a business
- 24:00wants to come in and expand medical services in your area, bring new medical
- 24:03services to your area. It's a lengthy process, it's expensive, and worse
- 24:07of all, when a possible competitor doesn't like what you're doing, they can
- 24:11come in and try to torpedo the whole thing. So a lot of states
- 24:15have gone rid of certificate need laws, South Carolina being the most recent,
- 24:18weren't outlier at this point. In South Carolina, they're seeing already millions and
- 24:22millions of dollars investment in new medical services. So our number one priority is
- 24:26getting rid of certificate in need in West Virginia, lower taxes and spending.
- 24:32You know, Dave, this is a timely issue. In twenty twenty three,
- 24:34we passed the largest tax cut in state history, a twenty one and
- 24:38a half percent tax cut to your income tax. Best of all, in
- 24:41that law, we put in triggers that will eventually eliminate the state income tax
- 24:47in the state of West Virginia. Now, Governor Justice has announced we're going
- 24:49to see a three to four percent trigger, the first one that ever happened.
- 24:53So obviously that law is working and lawmakers are keeping the budget flat.
- 24:57What he's asking for is in additional five percent, and our caveat with that
- 25:02is, yes, let's continue to decrease taxes, but we have to do
- 25:06the hard thing and couple that with decreased spending. You know, as someone
- 25:10that used to work at the legislature, the easiest thing for lawmakers do is
- 25:12spend your money. The hardest thing for them to do is actually shrink the
- 25:15size of government and cut some spending. I want to as a follow up
- 25:19to that, and you kind of touch down a little bit again. We're
- 25:22talking with Chress and Gallagher from Americans for Prosperity. Does I don't want to
- 25:26put you on a spot here, but does your group support the governor's plan
- 25:29the lower taxes? You know, we want to eliminate the income tax.
- 25:33So however we get there, let's do that. Like I said, the
- 25:34one caveat is we have to couple that with decreasing spending. Let's actually shrink
- 25:40the size of government. Now, that might be hard to get done in
- 25:41a special session. Maybe we have to wait for a governor, the next
- 25:45governor come in and look at the books and really work with the legislature on
- 25:48cutting spending. But we've talked to lawmakers. They feel like we can get
- 25:52these one time obligations done and cut spending. We've talked to the Revenue WHO
- 25:56Secretary Larry Pack. He also believes that it sounds like he's going to present
- 26:00a plan that shows we can do both of these things. So as long
- 26:03as that makes sense and we look at actual cutting spending, yeah, we
- 26:07would support it. And when you refer to the next governor, obviously your
- 26:10group has been one of those that was really out front in supporting Patrick Morrisey
- 26:14early on that in that crowded Republican field, your group was one out there.
- 26:18I'm going to go ahead and presume that you're presuming it's going to be
- 26:19Yeah, Patrick Morrison. I mean, I think you saw the fundraising numbers
- 26:22that just came out. I mean, Patrick Morrissey is one of the hardest
- 26:26workers in the state. He has a true vision for West Virginia. I
- 26:29know he's going to get the job done. He will win in November,
- 26:32it's almost certain. And frankly, with what's going on, like I said,
- 26:34with Biden and Biden nomics at the federal level, it's gonna be really
- 26:37hard for any Democrat to win. So we're looking forward to continue to work
- 26:41with Patrick Morrissey on some big policy wins once he wins In November twenty seven
- 26:45minutes, make that twenty six minutes away from Tama. Dave Allen Chilling five

- 27:02agenda as well. I'm glad you saved this one for last because this is
- 27:03my favorite. Take you on the person I know that would say I get
- 27:07excited about regulatory reform. Well, it's the administrative state. As a former
- 27:11bureaucrat myself, I know what the administrative state looks like in West Virginia.
- 27:15But we have to get the government out a way of people realizing their version
- 27:19of the American dream. That includes licensure reform. Out of Arizona, they
- 27:23they did some licensure reform. They saw five thousand skilled laborers move to their
- 27:27state. We also have to look at boards and commissions and regulations that don't
- 27:30need to exist. Out of Wisconsin, they have something called the Rains Act,
- 27:34which stopped a lot of erroneous regulations from even being considered by unelected bureaucrats.
- 27:41Honestly, it's like the It's probably the biggest thing the next governor could
- 27:44do is take on the administrative state and actually streamline and shrink government. And
- 27:48I think it's going to take a real governor to take on that task.
- 27:52And I will say, as someone who I'll also say former bureaucrat, you're
- 27:56I know what you're talking about. There are a lot of hard working people
- 28:00in state government, do not get me wrong. And I worked with a
- 28:03lot of them. I'm sure you did in your time there, But especially
- 28:06when you get to the folks making a lot of the bigger salaries. We're
- 28:08not talking about you know, the average person in the offices. We're talking
- 28:12there's a lot of bloat there. I'm not gonna lie well, and David,
- 28:15it's hard to even hire people. There's just so many regulations, and
- 28:19I mean you probably know this. It takes six months to buy something and
- 28:22it takes six months to hire a position. A lot of these positions remain
- 28:26vacant. That's not helping the people West Virginia. We have to get in
- 28:30there. And like the worst thing I ever heard when I was at the
- 28:33Department bag was well, we've always done it this way. Well, technology
- 28:37changes, times change, maybe we need to look at the processes and that's
- 28:41really where we need to go on take on the administrative state and understand if
- 28:45does these regulations need to exist, Is this the way we have to do
- 28:48things? How do we eat streamline government to better serve the people in West
- 28:52Virginia. And I think it's very important that you point out when you say
- 28:56there are a lot of these positions in state government that are unfilled. Oddly,
- 29:00they tend to not be the higher salary. Once the directors administrative you
- 29:06know, they say to be okay, it's the average person, you know,
- 29:08manning the phones or manning the computers and all. That's where the openings
- 29:12are. It's not at director level positions, crassling, you know that,
- 29:17it's at the it's at the average salary. That's where the problems. That's
- 29:21where the vacancies are. Man well, and we both worked for at Will
- 29:22agencies and it was a little different. But if you're one of these other
- 29:26agencies that's under the governor's umbrella, you're you're tied to division and personnel regulations
- 29:32and it's sometimes impossible to move things and have some flexibility to get these jobs
- 29:37hired. I've talked to plenty of people that work in these agencies, and
- 29:40it's a nightmare to even get these positions filled. And then what services are
- 29:42being done because it's just a vacant job. You care to take some texts?
- 29:48We have a couple of texts here, sure, always one of them
- 29:49is about baseball, so we'll end with that one. Okay, tex says,
- 29:55are you going to protect this is aimed at me? Are you going
- 29:56to protect this Republican from the tough questions? Have your republic looking guests explain
- 30:00why sex abuse is okay in a presidential candidate, which immigrants are poisoning,
- 30:03why pardoning January sixth criminals and excusing political violence is a Republican party platform?
- 30:10Well, Dave, I wish your Texter would do some some basic research.
- 30:14We Americans prosperity are not behind Donald Trump. We actively supported Nikki Haley during
- 30:19the primary, so you know our concern is now that we've lost that race,
- 30:25we're more focused on US Center races, congressional races, and state races
- 30:29and making sure that we fight back against some of Biden's policies that are really
- 30:33wrecking this country and forcing inflation through the roof. So you're not you're not
- 30:37backing Donald Trump? No, No, not at all. So I know,
- 30:40I know you either have to be on one side or the other,
- 30:41like sometimes there's other and there's other places you can be. But you know,
- 30:47we're more against Biden and his policies. All right, Texas, Dave,
- 30:49The people's number one concern is getting the PSC under control, runaway utility
- 30:55bills we need to vote on board members. Is that something you've ever gotten
- 30:57into. No, And that's you know, the government next governors go have
- 31:00a lot of control over the board members. What we're interested is is energy
- 31:04policy that uses all resources, so everything under the sun. I know,
- 31:08nuclear is a is a personal passion of mine. It's something we should be
- 31:12looking at. And then the state of West Virginia has passed some laws that
- 31:17allow us to even pursue those options. So if nuclear can ever get to
- 31:19that level, we could actually have some giant headlining. Yeah in the paper
- 31:23this morning, Biden Science Capitol Nuclear bill, yep. And that's that's a
- 31:26great thing we should be looking at. We need to be using all energy
- 31:30resources. Fossool, fugls renewables and nuclear to really lower energy costs in the
- 31:33United States, Tech says, and we'll let you go on this one.
- 31:37One solution to public education is the termination of teachers unions and replace it with
- 31:41a student union. Can you imagine if the energy, money and resources went
- 31:45into improving the student instead of a goal of only getting perks for teachers.
- 31:49Well, you know, frankly, we don't have strong teacher unions in the
- 31:52state of West Virginia. But you know, unions in general have been a
- 31:56hindrance at just you know, it's all about the leaders up. We need
- 32:00to provide more resources to the actual teachers and let them have less regulations on
- 32:05how they can better serve their students. So let's funnel more money to teachers
- 32:08and less the unions. Where can people learn more about Americans for Prosperity.
- 32:13Well, the website we have now is West Virginia Pathway dot com. That's
- 32:17where we can you can learn about more of our Pathway to Prosperity and how
- 32:22we really want to affect the state of West Virginia for a better, better
- 32:24future. All Right, the final text here, Who are the Guardians?
- 32:29That's the artist formerly known as the Indians, right, yeah, and frankly
- 32:32I understand why they changed the name. I was hoping they go back to
- 32:37the Spiders, which is one of the was their original name back in the
- 32:39eighteen hundreds, and there was some talk about that in Cleveland. Yeah,
- 32:44and I saw some jersey designs that they were very cool. I think it
- 32:46would have been really great to go back to the original name. So,
- 32:51you know, Guardians is fine, I get Have you ever seen the bridge?
- 32:53Yeah, oh yeah, yeah, it's it's fine. I'm more concerned
- 32:57about them winning, not the name. There you go, There'll always be

- 37:22That's all coming up on tomorrow's show. Now, Hoppy is coming up a
- 37:25talk line at ten oh six from the in COVID Insurance Studios and the Dale
- 37:30Miller Building in Morgantown. A subject that I've talked about on this show,
- 37:34and that has to do with cell phones in schools. The Ohio County Ohio
- 37:38County in West Virginia Board of Education is considering a proposal to ban or at
- 37:44the very least restrict cell phone usage in schools. Carrie hoo de Sect has
- 37:50been following the story closely and she's going to join Hoppy to discuss that.
- 37:52Yesterday, Hoppy had a poll on X the artist formerly known as Twitter,
- 37:58asking just the folks following Hoppy, would you favor a ban on cell phones
- 38:05in school? And I didn't check the numbers this morning, but as of
- 38:07yesterday, overwhelmingly the people that responded said yes, yes they would. So
- 38:15we're going to get into that a little bit right actually, Carry and Hopy
- 38:19are going to get get into that on the show coming up to ten oh
- 38:21six this morning. Also John Decker from Gray Television will join Hoppy on the
- 38:24latest issues with the president and more Democrats of course now coming out saying he
- 38:30should drop out of the race. There's been a few more, I think
- 38:32since yesterday, and John Gray or John Decker, I should say, from
- 38:36Greay Television, we'll get into that. And how about some more negative news
- 38:39involving the governor's finances. Brad mcilhanny will join Happy to talk about that.

- 39:10was pleased to hear the Crescent Gallagher does not support Trump. More conservatives need
- 39:15to speak out about that. We will never support Biden, but Trump is
- 39:19a terrible person, says a texture. You are preaching to the proverbial choir,
- 39:23it says tex Texter. They've said, they've says a texture. Trump
- 39:31and Republicans need to stop hiring illegal labor, and if they do, need
- 39:36to take away business licenses. I've said that. I can't speak specifically about
- 39:40Trump, but I've said that a lot. There is a reason if you
- 39:45want to if you want to slow I mean, people are coming here because
- 39:49they want a better life. For the most part for them. There are
- 39:51exceptions, but they're coming here because they want a better life and they want
- 39:53to work. And so until business and industry in this country stops hiring illegal
- 40:00aliens, they're going to continue to come here. Now that having been said,
- 40:05let me flip the coin. The reason they're hiring illegal aliens is because
- 40:08Americans don't want to work for the most part, That's why they're hiring them.
- 40:13So you can see it's kind of a circle here. You know,
- 40:15they're coming here because of the jobs. The corporations are hiring them. They're
- 40:20hiring them because Americans won't fill the jobs. Bottom line. Did you happen
- 40:25to catch Center Financial chair Eric Tarr on the show yesterday? If not,
- 40:31it's a good time for me to remind you that you can go back and

- 40:53least of notes a lot of people that I talked about talk to rather the
- 41:00show yesterday was the response that Senator Tar gave to the question I posed to
- 41:07him. And I didn't really plan it, and it just sometimes they just
- 41:09kind of come out. I said, are you Senator Tar supporting Governor Jim
- 41:15Justice in his bid for Senate and he point blank said no. He did
- 41:22note he will not be voting for the Democratic alternative Glen Elliott, current mayor
- 41:27of Wheeling, which you know he wasn't going to do that, But Senator
- 41:30Tarr said yesterday he will not be voting for Jim Justice, and the Senator
- 41:37talked about his fears that Governor Justice could could Eric Tarsworts could change parties once
- 41:49he gets to Washington. Now, personally, I don't see that happening,
- 41:53but you never know. Go back and listen to the interview if you have
- 41:59time from yesterday and again it's available to a variety of different places. Speaking
- 42:04of Senator Tar again, after his appearance on the show yesterday, I had
- 42:09several texts about things he had said about the Governor's proposed tax cuts, the
- 42:15budget surplus, etc. Etc. Now, as is the case with nearly
- 42:20all the text of the show, I read them on the air, unless
- 42:22I just simply run out of time or there are some I get that are
- 42:25just ridiculous. I do try to read them all. I do my best.
- 42:30Sometimes I'll read them the next day, but I'll try to get him
- 42:32in there. I read some of the anti Tar texts yesterday and the Senator
- 42:40was listening Inkye Senator as he was driving and leaving the studio, and he
- 42:46asked if he could come back next week to address the comments and concerns of
- 42:53many of you of my listeners about the budget surplus, the Governor's proposed tax
- 42:58cuts, etc. So let me just say this, Senator Tar will be
- 43:01back on the show next Tuesday, and I'm putting him at the top of
- 43:07the show. So circle that on your calendar Tuesday, July sixteenth, nine
- 43:13oh seven, and the Senator is going to be taking your phone calls and
- 43:19texts. And the text are fine, but I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 43:23He and I talked and we would much rather have phone calls. I
- 43:28love my texters, but I'd much rather have phone calls. And he specifically
- 43:31said that himself, and one of the things I have always said about Senator
- 43:37Tar and he and I our few full disclosure. We're great friends, have
- 43:43been for some time, but he and I don't always agree on everything.
- 43:45There are several things we strongly disagree on. But Senator Tar will gladly answer
- 43:52any questions and he's always willing to address concerns when he's on this show.
- 43:58I've had him on one show in the past four as long as an hour,
- 44:01and he said, bring them on. Not every political figure that I
- 44:07have on this show, Republican and Democrats do that. There are a few,
- 44:12but Senator Tar when he comes in here, says, I want to
- 44:15talk to the people. So if you're one of the people yesterday that had
- 44:17some negative things to say about some of the things, that's perfectly fine.
- 44:21Don't get me wrong. If you were one of the people that had some
- 44:24questions some concerns about some of the things that Senator Tara talked about, I
- 44:29urge you to listen in next too. I'll arde you listening every day,
- 44:35but next Tuesday at nine oh seven, because Senator Tar is going to take
- 44:38the air and we want phone calls. He wants to talk to you,
- 44:44so you can text. We'll read the text, but we'd much rather call
- 44:46and ask him questions one on one. Senator Tar back on the show next
- 44:52Tuesday for the first segment. I'll hold him over for a couple of segments
- 44:54and we have to so you have you have been notified. But Dave Allen

- 48:08and start your journey towards better health today. On the subject of inflation,
- 48:15I had a text of that said about that Dave heard the other texture talking
- 48:20about inflation. Out of curiosity, I recently reloaded my online Walmart Kart from
- 48:24November of twenty twenty one. I had to make some adjustments because some items
- 48:30are not available now. But basically, what was one hundred and seventy eight
- 48:34dollars or so in twenty twenty one is now two hundred and thirty four dollars
- 48:38and fifty three cents this year. That is almost a thirty two percent increase
- 48:45in less than three years, says a texture. You know I'm not a
- 48:47math guy, so I will take that texture's math to heart. I will
- 48:52say this when, and I've said this before, the average person when they
- 48:58go to the grocery store, no matter who is in the White House,
- 49:02and you can say inflation has gone down and okay, it has, but
- 49:07people are still paying more for the products, and that's what they are concerned
- 49:12about. And if it's the guy or the lady or whomever in the White
- 49:15House, be it Republican, be it Democrat, whatever, that person's going
- 49:20to get blamed for it. They're going to get blamed for it. That's
- 49:22just kind of kind of the way it happens. And this time it happened
- 49:24to be Biden. And there's a big headline on the television here I'm watching
- 49:29it says Biden campaign losing celebrity support. George Clooney is one of those I
- 49:35think that noted as Steven Allen Adams said that note of political pundit George Clooney.
- 49:39I do want to mention the passing of former Charleston City council member Robert
- 49:44Sheets. He served three terms total between twenty seven twenty twenty two. The
- 49:49mayor issued statement yesterday talking about his contributions to the city into his service.
- 49:52So our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends. For sure.
- 49:58I mentioned this yes yesterday, but I want to make sure everyone knows about
- 50:01it. This afternoon, starting at five, there's going to be a public
- 50:05hearing concerning the KRT system in the Charleston area. Now, as you know,
- 50:09there has been a talk of doing some streamlining, possibly ending some routes
- 50:16with that, and there's a lot of concern So this is your chance to
- 50:20weigh in. The meeting starts at five o'clock this afternoon and is scheduled to
- 50:25go till around seven thirty or so, and that'll be at the main branch
- 50:29of the Canawa County Public Library, one twenty three Capitol Street on the third
- 50:32floor. Of this evening, but Dave Allen Show and five eighty LIVEE presented
- 50:36by General Hardware of Windfield and Milton General number of Windfield for all projects,
- 50:38big and small shop locally. This is General Hardware WV dot com tex says
- 50:45Dave. The text critical of your guests concerning inflation. Please advise that the
- 50:49rate of inflation is a year over year analysis, meaning twenty twenty three at
- 50:53eight percent and year today twenty twenty four at three percent is an eleven percent
- 50:58inflation increase, says a Texter. The Republican National Convention gets underway next week.
- 51:05Brad mcwheney as the story post about on the website with quotes from Senator
- 51:09Silly Moore Capito, who says she is excited about next week and was as
- 51:14was mentioned on the show yesterday, it is being reported by some out that
- 51:16it's a governor Justice is expected to speak in Milwaukee next week, Yes,
- 51:22with baby dog. Former President Trump is expected to announce his running mate at
- 51:25some point and some point either before the convention or sometime during the convention,
- 51:31and most are saying the frontrunners to this point are author and Senator j D
- 51:36Vance of Ohio, Marco Rubio of Florida, and Governor Doug Bergham of North
- 51:39Dakota. And you know, politics are politics are one thing, and things
- 51:45get said in campaigns that are quickly forgotten. Look at the gubernatorial nomination for
- 51:51governor just a couple of months ago. But I care, for the life
- 51:53of me, understand how Marco Rubio or Nikki Haley could even consider being a
- 51:58vice president the former President Trump after the things he said about them. But
- 52:01that's that's just me. So in the meantime, in the West Virginia Democratic
- 52:07Party has issued a statement asking Justice and Morrissey to come out and denounce Project
- 52:14twenty twenty five. And that's something we're going to get into a little bit
- 52:16later on, maybe possibly next week, all right, gotta go. Thank
- 52:20you to Steven Thomas for being here and also Chressen Gallagher, my producer was
