- 0:24Speaker 1: him from an endless amount of TV appearance as a
- 0:28Speaker 1: stand up comedian. He has a special on Peacock called
- 0:33Speaker 1: Number One. He's fantastic. He's one of my favorite comedians
- 0:37Speaker 1: of all time. It was really great to have him
- 0:39Speaker 1: on the show. Check out his special and check out
- 0:43Speaker 1: all his tour dates online at me M E Sean

- 0:49Speaker 1: N dot com. I think you guys are really gonna
- 0:52Speaker 1: love this one. Hey, we gotta go.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We gotta go.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Thanks so time. Hey everybody, it is Saints Week. I
- 1:09Speaker 1: am riding high in a way. Whatever happened last week?
- 1:15Speaker 1: This Josh Dobbs fever that has taken Vikings Nation by storm.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I'm infected? Is this the worst metaphor of all time
- 1:24Speaker 1: to start a show? Perhaps? But I'm jacked joining me
- 1:28Speaker 1: longtime friend die hard Saints fan, the great Sean Patten. Hello,
- 1:34Speaker 1: my friend, Thank you.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Cy, and thank you for having me. And I gotta
- 1:40Speaker 2: say too. I was a little infected with the Josh
- 1:42Speaker 2: Doobs feaver as well.
- 1:43Speaker 1: How I don't understand how last year when Baker Mayfield
- 1:47Speaker 1: had a day of practice and led that one drive
- 1:51Speaker 1: and everybody went nuts. This is like the super version
- 1:54Speaker 1: of this. If you like sports, this is the height
- 1:57Speaker 1: of why you would like sports.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he's basically a real life Willie Beamon.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yes, you know from that You and I are the
- 2:07Speaker 1: only people that remember that movie. There is no one else. Well,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I can't even it was Al Pacino and Jamie Fox.
- 2:15Speaker 1: What was the name of it any given Simon. Here's
- 2:19Speaker 1: why I remember that movie, Sean, because whenever I would
- 2:23Speaker 1: do something minor, my dad would I don't want to
- 2:28Speaker 1: say overreact, but the punishment I was always like, that's
- 2:31Speaker 1: a little much. And then whenever I would make a
- 2:33Speaker 1: major mistake, he would go real soft, which I thought
- 2:38Speaker 1: was incredible parenting. And so I got in trouble for
- 2:42Speaker 1: shoplifting as a seventeen year old kid, and as a punishment,
- 2:47Speaker 1: my dad took me to any given Sunday, which he
- 2:50Speaker 1: could not have known the content that was going to
- 2:52Speaker 1: be in that movie. That's not a great choice if
- 2:54Speaker 1: you're trying to teach a kid, you're trying to have
- 2:56Speaker 1: the act better talk after the movie. But he took
- 3:00Speaker 1: me to that movie and then afterwards he's like, you
- 3:02Speaker 1: know what, you are terrible at shoplifting. You should not shoplift.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And that was the end of it, and it worked.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I'd never shoplifted again.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I like how he took He's like, we're gonna go
- 3:12Speaker 2: see it Oliver Stone movie. What's what's play it? Ah,
- 3:15Speaker 2: it's all it work. Oh, here we go. JFK JFK
- 3:20Speaker 2: Natural board.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I was trying to think about a comparable scenario to
- 3:26Speaker 1: this Dobbs thing for comedians, and this is the closest
- 3:31Speaker 1: thing I could come to try to explain it in
- 3:34Speaker 1: our world is, let's say, because whenever you get to
- 3:37Speaker 1: do Conan or a Letterman or a Late Night said,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you get to bring people with so often. You know,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I had a buddy with you. You bring a buddy
- 3:44Speaker 1: who's been doing stand up usually with you with to
- 3:46Speaker 1: those things. That'd be like if you go with your
- 3:49Speaker 1: buddy to do Conan and then he gets sick and
- 3:53Speaker 1: the booker's like you're up, man, and you're like, oh great,
- 3:57Speaker 1: can I use my material? And he's like, nope, you
- 3:59Speaker 1: can only riff. Yeah, you can only go out here
- 4:02Speaker 1: and riff. And then you go out and you kill it.
- 4:05Speaker 1: That's that's the only comparable scenario. I don't even understand
- 4:08Speaker 1: this Josh Dobbs thing.
- 4:09Speaker 2: He's a younger guy, not that old quarterback. I think
- 4:13Speaker 2: he's only like second or third season.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Right, I'm not sure how many seasons, but I know
- 4:16Speaker 1: he's twenty just turned twenty eight, so he's young. He's
- 4:19Speaker 1: still early prime.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Right, he's still got like, yeah, he's still got a
- 4:23Speaker 2: career ahead of him. But he's got such an old
- 4:25Speaker 2: quarterback name, you know, Oh yeah, Gosh Dobs, Like you
- 4:29Speaker 2: expect to just be this like guy that's like, all right, man,
- 4:33Speaker 2: I got five more passes than me. I'm gonna use
- 4:35Speaker 2: them on this drive. But he's like he's a kid.
- 4:38Speaker 2: He's like he's got a whole career ahead of him,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and I don't know, it's pretty exciting because then because
- 4:43Speaker 2: then you wonder, like if he captured the imagination of
- 4:46Speaker 2: the team and the city, what next? What you know?
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's what's so psycho about The sport is like any
- 4:54Speaker 2: given Sunday, not the movie title.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I always say locker rooms are weird places. We
- 5:00Speaker 1: all make fun of their cliches and the sports isms,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but they believe that stuff. There are a bunch of
- 5:06Speaker 1: guys who are the most elite of the elite walking
- 5:09Speaker 1: around going nobody believed in me, and they believe that.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And so when you get a team that starts losing
- 5:17Speaker 1: in weird ways, I think they start thinking that's who
- 5:21Speaker 1: they are, and so I in the same way, when
- 5:24Speaker 1: crazy good things happen, it can snowball. And then when
- 5:27Speaker 1: you combine that with the fact that I think outside
- 5:29Speaker 1: of maybe three to five quarterbacks in the NFL, a
- 5:33Speaker 1: lot of whether or not these guys succeed depends on
- 5:37Speaker 1: situations like do you have a supportive staff, do you
- 5:40Speaker 1: have a good roster around you. I'm fascinated by the
- 5:44Speaker 1: potential ceiling of this. I'm with you.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, you just said it properly too, Like when you
- 5:50Speaker 2: watch football with like someone who's not who doesn't watch
- 5:53Speaker 2: often enough or isn't that big of a fan, and
- 5:55Speaker 2: they're just completely like this guy. This quarterbacks suck guy.
- 6:00Speaker 2: You gotta be like hold Ones I got first and foremost.
- 6:02Speaker 2: If that guy threw you a pass, all of your
- 6:05Speaker 2: fingers would shatter when you try to catch it. Specifically quarterbacks,
- 6:10Speaker 2: it's like, think about the offensive line needs to be good,
- 6:13Speaker 2: the place call needs to be good, the receivers need
- 6:15Speaker 2: to be where they won't need to be. The defense.
- 6:18Speaker 2: There's so many variables, like I get that Patrick Mahomes's
- 6:22Speaker 2: Jedi level. In fact, I was in Philadelphia last year
- 6:26Speaker 2: for the Super Bowl, not for the game itself, but
- 6:29Speaker 2: the weekend leading up. I was at at Ilium Comedy
- 6:31Speaker 2: Club a Thursday, Friday, Saturday in Philly. Right, So I
- 6:36Speaker 2: don't know if you've ever met a Philadelphia Eagles plan,
- 6:38Speaker 2: but let's just say they're all tough drawing. They're all
- 6:40Speaker 2: well educated, very you know, well spoken, you know, very
- 6:45Speaker 2: kind people, very kind, open minded individuals. And I'm sorry,
- 6:52Speaker 2: did I say that. I was I saying something nice
- 6:55Speaker 2: about those psychoses. So yeah, like at the beginning of
- 6:59Speaker 2: the weekend, it was like it was like a zombie
- 7:01Speaker 2: movie where at first there's only like you know, the
- 7:03Speaker 2: Thursday night, there's maybe only and people in the audience
- 7:07Speaker 2: with their jerseys and the old birds about the Saturday
- 7:11Speaker 2: Night Show. They're all just like gold birds, like the
- 7:15Speaker 2: whole audience. And I tell the I tell the after
- 7:21Speaker 2: the show, this Saturday Night Show. I'm just kind of
- 7:23Speaker 2: hanging out, and I happen to mention that I think
- 7:28Speaker 2: the Chiefs are gonna win. I say that not because
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm a Jedi, not because I'm a psychic, because I
- 7:34Speaker 2: was in a room full of other adults, and I
- 7:37Speaker 2: figured in that room of adults, i'd get a light
- 7:40Speaker 2: you know, ribbing. But seriously, there was a moment where
- 7:43Speaker 2: the bouncer was like, do you want do you need
- 7:45Speaker 2: me to walk you out here? Man? No, no, no,
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'll deal with it. But there was a moment. There
- 7:50Speaker 2: was a moment where I'm like, am I had to
- 7:52Speaker 2: have to fisc fight my way through twenty drunk comedy
- 7:56Speaker 2: audience because I just I think the Chiefs are gonna
- 7:59Speaker 2: take it. But you know, I was right just.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Saying, yeah, can we package that up and can we
- 8:04Speaker 1: play it a pre show at the Philadelphia Helium. Moving forward,
- 8:09Speaker 1: Sean Patten was right, come find him.
- 8:12Speaker 2: What I wanted to do was at the end of
- 8:14Speaker 2: the Saturday night show, which is the last show the weekend.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I wanted to pull my phone out, you know, and
- 8:19Speaker 2: rotate it around like so many comedians do now.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And get that like crowd shot.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah. And I wanted to be like, thank you so much, Philadelphia,
- 8:27Speaker 2: thank you so much. Go change, go, change, go, and
- 8:30Speaker 2: just get an image of them all losing their.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Mind, get their reaction.
- 8:34Speaker 2: But the cop the host was like, please don't do that,
- 8:37Speaker 2: because they'll they'll murder you, and I'll be on their side.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I'm like, yeah, I get it.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I have to. I'm sorry, it's my birthright. I'll have
- 8:45Speaker 1: to be a part of the mob that burns you
- 8:48Speaker 1: at the stake.
- 8:49Speaker 2: If I don't join in, I'm in I'm endangering my family,
- 8:54Speaker 2: you know.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Going back to the idea of these you know you
- 9:00Speaker 1: but they know none of these guys suck. There's a
- 9:03Speaker 1: name that's gonna ring true for both of us that
- 9:06Speaker 1: I have a great story about that I've I've maybe
- 9:08Speaker 1: told on this show before. But Todd Bawman, oh buddy, yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 1: former Vikings quarterback, former Saints quarterback. The definition of a
- 9:18Speaker 1: backup quarterback and potentially of a third string quarterback. Right right, right,
- 9:23Speaker 1: so he's from Minnesota. His brother coached at Pipestone High School.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I had a friend that played at Pipestone. Well, Todd
- 9:33Speaker 1: Bauman was on the Minnesota Vikings, and the kids on
- 9:37Speaker 1: the team would kind of like make fun of Bauman
- 9:42Speaker 1: for being you know, oh, he's the dopey, corny, unathletic
- 9:47Speaker 1: backup quarterback like that sort of stuff. And so they
- 9:51Speaker 1: had like a carbo load before a game and his
- 9:54Speaker 1: brother brought over a VHS tape and just popped it
- 9:58Speaker 1: in and it was a video of Todd Bauman in
- 10:01Speaker 1: high school winning a high school slam dunk contest with
- 10:05Speaker 1: a three sixty from about three fourths of the way
- 10:09Speaker 1: through the free throw lane. And everybody's like, holy shit, dude.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. These guys are all athletes from before
- 10:19Speaker 2: they hit puberty. By the time puberty arrived in their bodies,
- 10:23Speaker 2: it was like, Oh, I got all this to work with.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Cool When you see it for real, when you see
- 10:27Speaker 1: it up close, it's wild. I coached aau basketball and
- 10:31Speaker 1: I worked for Chris Carr, who played with the Wolves
- 10:34Speaker 1: for a while, played with Michael Jordan with the Bulls.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I worked for his organization. I had this kid on
- 10:38Speaker 1: my team who ended up playing at Loyola of Chicago
- 10:43Speaker 1: and then ended up playing overseas. Really good six foot six.
- 10:46Speaker 1: His name was Jordan Hicks. I mean, dude could ball right.
- 10:49Speaker 1: One of the top high school players in the state.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And we were at a shoot around before practice and
- 10:55Speaker 1: Chris was there sitting on the bench and Jordan was
- 10:58Speaker 1: trash talking him as he was shooting threes from about
- 11:01Speaker 1: the NBA three point range, just a little bit behind,
- 11:04Speaker 1: so it's a deep shot. So Chris challenges him to
- 11:08Speaker 1: a you know who can make the most out of
- 11:09Speaker 1: ten for a gatorade? And so, uh, Jordan hits six
- 11:15Speaker 1: out of ten, which that's wild. That's that's a pretty
- 11:18Speaker 1: impressive performance. And then Chris walks out and clanks the
- 11:23Speaker 1: first one, and then he clanks the second one, and
- 11:26Speaker 1: then he clanks the third one, and Jordan's smiling, everybody's
- 11:30Speaker 1: talking trash and then he takes the next one and
- 11:33Speaker 1: hits it, and I saw the look on his face.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I was like, Oh, he's feing with them.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And then he hit seven straight three pointers from two
- 11:44Speaker 1: foot behind the NBA three point line, intentionally having missed
- 11:49Speaker 1: the first three. And you're like, oh, That's a level
- 11:51Speaker 1: of repetition and ability that I couldn't even stand within
- 11:54Speaker 1: a million miles of Hey.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I love that be I wonder do you think sometimes
- 12:01Speaker 2: coaches do that with the team where they're like, guys, listen,
- 12:04Speaker 2: they're they're overconfident. They're they're coming off a two game
- 12:07Speaker 2: winning streak. We know we're better. What if we just
- 12:11Speaker 2: shoulder ship the bed for the first couple of drives,
- 12:15Speaker 2: you know what I mean, let them think they got it,
- 12:19Speaker 2: Let the peak Like sometimes sometimes I think with every
- 12:23Speaker 2: New Orleans Saints fan winning the Super Bowl was of
- 12:27Speaker 2: course one of the greatest moments. You know, it was amazing,
- 12:30Speaker 2: but they never want to second one. With Drew Breezes
- 12:32Speaker 2: of Shuan Page, never one seconde never even went to
- 12:34Speaker 2: the second one. Is the equivalent of the second Super
- 12:37Speaker 2: Bowl was watching the Falcons lose to the Patriots.
- 12:41Speaker 1: If you remember, I've heard so many Saints fans say that,
- 12:44Speaker 1: like it's their moments in franchise history. Number one are win,
- 12:48Speaker 1: the number two the Falcons loss.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Believe you me, I've had this borderline argument with both
- 12:54Speaker 2: of our good friends. But you're one of your podcast mates,
- 12:57Speaker 2: Chad Daniels, right, that's no shant. Fans should ever, ever,
- 13:02Speaker 2: ever be angry about the concept of cheating or being
- 13:06Speaker 2: robbed of something. And I'm like list, and Brad far
- 13:10Speaker 2: deserved it. He deserved it. Also, Also, my argument against
- 13:18Speaker 2: bounty Gate was it was they were just he was saying,
- 13:21Speaker 2: do your job, just too well, that's all he was saying.
- 13:23Speaker 2: But but but Shad, I had because you know, that
- 13:27Speaker 2: was the year that in the NFC Championship a very
- 13:31Speaker 2: blatant call was not made.
- 13:32Speaker 1: That was the past interference.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yere right, that was the past in affairs year. But then,
- 13:36Speaker 2: of course my argument, my my realistic argument, is like, yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 2: but then they did get the ball first in overtime
- 13:42Speaker 2: and still couldn't do it. So I hated that moment,
- 13:44Speaker 2: but I'm also like, yeah, but then they couldn't close
- 13:46Speaker 2: the deal. However, that year, the Super Bowl was in
- 13:50Speaker 2: Atlanta and it was against the Patriots, and if you remember,
- 13:54Speaker 2: it was one of the most boring Super Bowls in
- 13:56Speaker 2: history when the Rams lost. But the Saints would have
- 13:59Speaker 2: played the Patriot in Atlanta and that super if they
- 14:02Speaker 2: would have beaten the Patriots in Atlanta, it might have
- 14:05Speaker 2: been the greatest moment ever for a Saints fan because
- 14:08Speaker 2: Falcons fans would have had to have rooted for the
- 14:10Speaker 2: Saints in that oh yeah, because they had humiliated by
- 14:14Speaker 2: the Patriots what two seasons earlier. It was a moment
- 14:17Speaker 2: that would have been so glorious because I think most
- 14:20Speaker 2: Saints fans, like myself and my buddy who lives around
- 14:23Speaker 2: the corner, best friend growing up, he lives here in
- 14:25Speaker 2: Brooklyn as well, we were rooting for the Falcons at first.
- 14:28Speaker 1: The big Machine. Nobody wants to see the Big Machine
- 14:31Speaker 1: win another title.
- 14:33Speaker 2: At that point, if you were rooting for the Patriots,
- 14:34Speaker 2: it was like rooting for Walmart, you know, and like
- 14:37Speaker 2: or Starbucks. And I know a lot of you know,
- 14:40Speaker 2: Pats fans he had had like, hey, I'd be like,
- 14:43Speaker 2: I learned to annunciate. I we'll talk. But but man,
- 14:46Speaker 2: once it started happening, once you saw that it was
- 14:49Speaker 2: really happening, you're like, okay, I'm kind of a hund
- 14:52Speaker 2: was not on board.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, this is delicious. I think that one of the
- 14:55Speaker 1: tough things about being an NFL fan, like a die hard,
- 14:59Speaker 1: I try not to take any of it too seriously,
- 15:02Speaker 1: you know, you take it just seriously enough to have
- 15:04Speaker 1: it be a wonderful escape. Yeah, but I can't not
- 15:08Speaker 1: have petty, silly grudges for all of eternity watching them
- 15:13Speaker 1: blow that second half lead, even though they didn't win
- 15:15Speaker 1: a super Bowl. When they beat us in ninety eight,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, that's what you get. Oh, that's
- 15:21Speaker 1: what you get. Yeah, so I don't. I don't like
- 15:24Speaker 1: the Falcons either, I will say, dude, and I know
- 15:28Speaker 1: you feel this way, It would be fine with me
- 15:31Speaker 1: if after this week's game, the Vikings and the Saints
- 15:34Speaker 1: didn't play each other for half a decade. I am
- 15:37Speaker 1: so sick of playing the New Orleans Saints. And I
- 15:40Speaker 1: know we've had We had the Minnesota Miracle against you.
- 15:43Speaker 1: We had the Kyle Rudolph catch, which I know is
- 15:45Speaker 1: the one you hate more, but like, I just I
- 15:48Speaker 1: don't want to do it anymore. It was like we
- 15:50Speaker 1: played the Seahawks every year forever I'm done, I'm out.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Let me play the Bucks every year.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean yeah, the NFC Championship game against them.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Liking since there has been pain.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Here's a question for you. Yeah, those like the miracle
- 16:08Speaker 1: and the Rudolph because that team the year that Rudolph
- 16:12Speaker 1: caught that pass, that was a super Bowl team that
- 16:14Speaker 1: was a very very very good football team. You guys
- 16:17Speaker 1: had that year and.
- 16:18Speaker 2: That was Drew Brees's last go at a super Bowl.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, are you ever able to rationalize it? Because we're
- 16:23Speaker 1: a suffering fan base that had never has never won
- 16:25Speaker 1: a title. You had never won a title before the
- 16:28Speaker 1: one that you got off of us and then the
- 16:31Speaker 1: Colts is this? Do you ever go, oh god, it's
- 16:34Speaker 1: the worst. But we did. We did get a super
- 16:36Speaker 1: Bowl because I think everyone in Minnesota would be happily
- 16:40Speaker 1: Kyle Rudolph and Minnesota miracled if they had a super
- 16:45Speaker 1: Bowl to look at.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean yeah, I mean, I guess it is like
- 16:48Speaker 2: winning an Oscar for a fank, Like, you know, you
- 16:51Speaker 2: always has a fan base. You got that one Oscar,
- 16:54Speaker 2: You're like al Pacino. You know, it's like we're the
- 16:58Speaker 2: al Pacinos. I mean, dude, Like, well, that's the thing too.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Like growing up, the things were terrible, terrible, terrible terrible
- 17:08Speaker 2: until I was almost thirty, you know what I mean. Like, yeah,
- 17:12Speaker 2: especially the nineties when I was like a kid kid.
- 17:14Speaker 2: My first like recollection of being a Saints fan was
- 17:18Speaker 2: the Dickie Years, which was got offul.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Can we pause the whole show and discuss how no
- 17:27Speaker 1: one ever talks about? So I wanted to do this
- 17:29Speaker 1: project called Size Favorite Photos.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:33Speaker 1: ESPN was like no, but it was Mystery Science Theater
- 17:37Speaker 1: three thousand, literally YouTube length, making fun of famous sports
- 17:41Speaker 1: pictures like the Barkley eating pizza or the great Randy
- 17:46Speaker 1: Moss Charles Woodson Heisman year with Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning.
- 17:51Speaker 1: If you ever get a chance to go look at
- 17:53Speaker 1: that picture, it's great. But the one that never gets
- 17:57Speaker 1: talked about is that somehow Mike Dicka and Ricky Williams
- 18:04Speaker 1: got in wedding gear oh yeah, and got on the cover.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Who like think about with how controlled everything is by
- 18:12Speaker 1: public relations now going and going, hey guys, all right,
- 18:15Speaker 1: here's what we're gonna do. Yeah, our Hall of Fame
- 18:18Speaker 1: coach and our brand new running back. They're gonna dress
- 18:21Speaker 1: up like a groom and bride and they're gonna be
- 18:23Speaker 1: on the cover of Sports Illustrated. That's bananas, a very bananas.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Be Like, I tell you what that I was young,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I was, you know, teenage when that happened. I can
- 18:34Speaker 2: say that it taught me to never buy in the
- 18:36Speaker 2: hype ever, ever, ever, again in my life. I vividly
- 18:40Speaker 2: remember to the tea being my family has a catering business,
- 18:45Speaker 2: right and as a kid, you know, I started working
- 18:48Speaker 2: for my family's catering business. I was like eleven, you know,
- 18:51Speaker 2: illegally probably, but you know, like you start working. You know,
- 18:55Speaker 2: it's family, so you're you know, when you got weekends off,
- 18:58Speaker 2: sometimes I'd just be home. My dad would call you,
- 19:01Speaker 2: but get dressed, You're coming in. I'm like, okay, you know,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I'm after school had been anyway. I remember I was
- 19:07Speaker 2: cutting shallots for a crawfish at tufe, you know, because
- 19:11Speaker 2: paintering you cook everything in bulk. I'm cutting shallots just
- 19:15Speaker 2: at work on a whatever day. The NFL draft was
- 19:18Speaker 2: whatever day, and I remember, you know, with the whatever
- 19:21Speaker 2: selection nor Orlony States running back Ricky Williams out of
- 19:25Speaker 2: the University of Texas. I remember the entire building erupting
- 19:30Speaker 2: and like for the rest of that day, like stopping
- 19:33Speaker 2: to get gashed people like we got that Ricky Williams,
- 19:36Speaker 2: And like for the week afterwards, everyone the entire shitty,
- 19:43Speaker 2: the entire region, the entire fan base was totally okay
- 19:48Speaker 2: with it was one hundred like this guy knows what
- 19:52Speaker 2: he's doing. Like, so, whenever people throw shaded Dica, and
- 19:57Speaker 2: they should because there was a careless, dumb at decision
- 20:01Speaker 2: made by a guy who just coaching for a paycheck,
- 20:03Speaker 2: we can all admit that. Now later we might. We
- 20:07Speaker 2: drive home and my dad listened to eight seventy am
- 20:10Speaker 2: Stints talk. All of them were on board, and everyone
- 20:13Speaker 2: was like, yep, sure he just gave away the future
- 20:17Speaker 2: of draft the next six years. Doesn't matter. One guy's
- 20:21Speaker 2: gonna fix it all because Dick said he's Dicka. Sure,
- 20:26Speaker 2: he's already been the coach for I think at that
- 20:28Speaker 2: point two terrible seasons. Sure, we've been rotating between Billy
- 20:33Speaker 2: Joe Hobert and Billy Joe Tolliver. Which Billy Joe is
- 20:36Speaker 2: it gonna be? We don't know. Oh we got Terry Collins.
- 20:40Speaker 2: You remember that guy. Yeah, he got cut from a
- 20:43Speaker 2: team because he told his coach he was too hungover
- 20:46Speaker 2: to play a game. I believe it was that something
- 20:48Speaker 2: like that. He got pulled in the game by his requests,
- 20:51Speaker 2: so they cut him. Oh cool, we can't figure out quarterback,
- 20:54Speaker 2: you know. We had, we had Willie ROAs, We had
- 20:56Speaker 2: one amazing.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Hall of fame Willy Rep imagine having two Billy Joe's
- 21:03Speaker 1: at quarterback and drafting a running back.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Oh, I remember, I don't even have to imagine it.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I saw it real time.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It's also like it reminds you of like a TV
- 21:12Speaker 1: franchise where you're like, it's twenty twenty two and all
- 21:16Speaker 1: of a sudden there's a show about, like, you know, robots,
- 21:21Speaker 1: and it's on some channel you didn't even know existed.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You're like, it's like Roku East or something. You're like,
- 21:26Speaker 1: I didn't even know. I didn't know Roku had an East.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I didn't know how to and they're it's and it's
- 21:31Speaker 1: starring Wesley Snipes, and you're like, well, this has gotta
- 21:34Speaker 1: be good. I loved Blade and I loved the Major League.
- 21:38Speaker 1: That's what Didka coming too. The Saints had to feel
- 21:40Speaker 1: like going from one of the greatest teams of all time.
- 21:43Speaker 1: You had to feel like, as a Saints fan, you're like,
- 21:46Speaker 1: we got Ditka. But then everyone on the outside was like,
- 21:50Speaker 1: did you or is this is this Wesley Snipes on
- 21:53Speaker 1: Roku East? What are we watching here?
- 21:55Speaker 2: At the time. At the time, the Saints has been
- 21:57Speaker 2: bad for so long that people forgot that it was
- 22:00Speaker 2: Dick twelve years removed, right from that Super Bowl team,
- 22:04Speaker 2: because I remember being slightly suspicious of the whole thing,
- 22:07Speaker 2: being like, well, but people being like you, what are
- 22:11Speaker 2: you a dumb at what are you? Yeah? Sure you're right,
- 22:14Speaker 2: I mean, you're right. Questions are for the stupid. But
- 22:17Speaker 2: like god, man, and it's really sad. Is Ricky Williams
- 22:21Speaker 2: when he had his moments, they were amazing.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Turned out to be when he was into it, a
- 22:26Speaker 1: hell of a football player.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah. But then I also, you know, I remember
- 22:30Speaker 2: all the interviews with the helmet, and that's the other
- 22:32Speaker 2: thing you forget about is like their kids and they're
- 22:35Speaker 2: taught to handle all this pressure. Sure, but then like
- 22:38Speaker 2: no one, no one ever truly tells them how much
- 22:40Speaker 2: pressure it's really going to be.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I think about that a lot. You know, you've had
- 22:45Speaker 1: a fantastic career thus far. You know, your new special
- 22:48Speaker 1: on Peacock is dude, it's phenomenal. You've been on Late
- 22:52Speaker 1: Night a bunch, You've had the Comedy Central specials, like
- 22:55Speaker 1: you've reached a mountain peak and stand up that is
- 22:58Speaker 1: really really impressive. Okay, but even with that peak, right,
- 23:03Speaker 1: like the amount of comments and YouTube comments and so
- 23:08Speaker 1: like the amount of pressure that comes with and you know,
- 23:12Speaker 1: feelings about yourself that come with that mountaintop. I think
- 23:17Speaker 1: sometimes guys like guess it's it's a lot sometimes Now
- 23:21Speaker 1: take that time's the most the quarterback in every state
- 23:26Speaker 1: is probably more famous than the governor in that state
- 23:30Speaker 1: by a couple miles. I shouldn't say probably, I would.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I would put all my earnings on that. I think.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Sure.
- 23:38Speaker 1: So that's in today's day and age to be a
- 23:41Speaker 1: young kid and have all this new media and all
- 23:45Speaker 1: these it's it's kind of like the world said, what
- 23:48Speaker 1: if we had a lot more places for people to
- 23:51Speaker 1: put their opinions around your performance of whatever you do?
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I mean, like ten years ago, I
- 24:00Speaker 2: got a little Twitter mad at Drew Brees, uh because
- 24:05Speaker 2: he was it wasn't two twelve, so eleven years ago
- 24:09Speaker 2: he was opening up a couple of Jimmy John's in
- 24:13Speaker 2: New Orleans, which you know, I got no problem with,
- 24:16Speaker 2: you know, people opening businesses, but he was doing it
- 24:18Speaker 2: in like historic areas of the city, and he was
- 24:23Speaker 2: doing it and he was doing it next to like
- 24:25Speaker 2: like wedged in between like mom and pop joints that
- 24:28Speaker 2: have been there for decades that in my opinion, it
- 24:31Speaker 2: was like, dude, that's just bad business, Like you're it's
- 24:33Speaker 2: going to be known as it's Drew Brees is Jimmy Johns.
- 24:36Speaker 2: There's no way they're not going to fly that banner.
- 24:39Speaker 2: And it's like, you know, open them up and metry
- 24:41Speaker 2: or buy the airport or in like parts of the city.
- 24:44Speaker 1: That like places where Jimmy Johns don't screw over families
- 24:49Speaker 1: that have spent generations building a restaurant, right right.
- 24:52Speaker 2: And I launched a pirade against him on Twitter, just
- 24:56Speaker 2: like tagging him like hey, man, thought you were about
- 24:58Speaker 2: the city. Hey, And then I started to getting like,
- 25:01Speaker 2: you know, you said earlier a thing that I think
- 25:04Speaker 2: is beautiful about being able to turn it off a
- 25:06Speaker 2: little bit. I remember whether the Sinks lost to the
- 25:11Speaker 2: Alex Smith passed to Vernon Davis in the playoffs in
- 25:15Speaker 2: two thousand, I want to say the same year, twenty
- 25:18Speaker 2: twelve seat or eleven seasons. I got so angry that
- 25:21Speaker 2: I threw my BlackBerry there you go, threw my BlackBerry
- 25:25Speaker 2: at a tree and it shattered, not the tree, but
- 25:28Speaker 2: the BlackBerry shattered. And it was that moment watching my
- 25:33Speaker 2: BlackBerry on the ground it's broken, thinking well, I got
- 25:35Speaker 2: to get another one of those, because that's the future
- 25:37Speaker 2: of phones. No one, nothing's never gonna get better than that.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I'm not gonna get one of these candy ass iPhones
- 25:43Speaker 2: and get another BlackBerry. But also realizing like, yeah, you
- 25:47Speaker 2: got to back off a little bit. It's is not healthy.
- 25:50Speaker 2: But I always say that if your team sucks, and
- 25:53Speaker 2: if you're going through it with your team, remember one thing.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Eighty percent of the players on that team don't actually
- 25:59Speaker 2: live in your city. So just remember that. Okay, it's
- 26:03Speaker 2: all a game, it's all entertainment. It's awesome when they win,
- 26:07Speaker 2: let it go when they lose. It's not on you.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Like speaking of Philadelphia, people you know talking about burning
- 26:13Speaker 2: the city if they lose. I'm like, yeah, but most
- 26:16Speaker 2: of them aren't coming back to that city. Like Jalen
- 26:20Speaker 2: Hurts lives in Chicago. I'm pretty sure.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah, who are you affected? Yeah, it's a It's a
- 26:24Speaker 1: beautiful escape, That's what I always say. It's a beautiful,
- 26:27Speaker 1: wonderful escape that you can both invest your enthusiasm and
- 26:32Speaker 1: your sadness in and then you can move to the
- 26:37Speaker 1: you can move to the next thing while letting that
- 26:40Speaker 1: piece still exist. But I do, I do have to
- 26:45Speaker 1: point out something that you mentioned to me because we're
- 26:50Speaker 1: kind of saying, hey, everybody, take a breath, and you know,
- 26:52Speaker 1: realize how it's again. But your family, your family of diehards,
- 27:01Speaker 1: has a belief about here's the thing. I'm just going
- 27:04Speaker 1: to shut up. I'm just going to let you tell it.
- 27:06Speaker 2: So, So I was my birthdays in November, right, it
- 27:10Speaker 2: was the following season. So it's like I just turned
- 27:13Speaker 2: a year old or as about turn year older. And
- 27:16Speaker 2: my parents, you know still to this day, long time
- 27:19Speaker 2: season ticket holders, and they take me to a game
- 27:23Speaker 2: as a baby, and you know what, you see a
- 27:26Speaker 2: lot and it was against the Falcons and the Saints
- 27:29Speaker 2: were winning, and they do this thing where they leave
- 27:33Speaker 2: at the you know, it's early in the fourth quarter.
- 27:35Speaker 2: It's like, let's get out of here, let's you know,
- 27:37Speaker 2: and then it's like halfway through the fourth quarter they're
- 27:39Speaker 2: leaving the game to beat the traffic there. They're a
- 27:41Speaker 2: young family at that point, you know, they didn't like
- 27:44Speaker 2: my dad couldn't afford to park in the parking lot
- 27:47Speaker 2: at the super Dome. So it was like a you know,
- 27:49Speaker 2: ten minute walk to where the car was. He says,
- 27:52Speaker 2: they get in the car, turn on sports radio. The
- 27:54Speaker 2: very first thing they hear is and lightning has struck
- 27:58Speaker 2: the New Orleans says, from the time they left, when
- 28:02Speaker 2: they got to the car, the Falcons scored like two
- 28:04Speaker 2: touchdowns in the field goal to take the game. That
- 28:07Speaker 2: they were they were down two and a half scores
- 28:09Speaker 2: and won.
- 28:10Speaker 1: So so they were they the Saints were ahead of
- 28:12Speaker 1: the Falcons by two and a half scores. Your parents
- 28:14Speaker 1: are like, let's get home. This was great, you guys.
- 28:17Speaker 1: By the time you're in the car, they're losing.
- 28:19Speaker 2: They lost. By the time they get the car, the
- 28:20Speaker 2: game's done. Like they lost, like, you know, by three points.
- 28:24Speaker 2: And so that that always comes up, always comes up
- 28:29Speaker 2: whenever the Saints are having a bad season. And my
- 28:31Speaker 2: argument is always, no, they lost because they took me
- 28:35Speaker 2: out of the dome. They were winning.
- 28:37Speaker 1: So your family is insisting that you're that action them
- 28:42Speaker 1: leaving a win early with you and tow has cursed
- 28:45Speaker 1: the team.
- 28:46Speaker 2: No, not that they're saying my presence did. My argument
- 28:50Speaker 2: is no, No, if you would have just stayed the end,
- 28:54Speaker 2: they would have won. I was in the building they
- 28:56Speaker 2: were winning.
- 28:57Speaker 1: That's a very New Orleans response, the yeah you cursed him,
- 29:01Speaker 1: well I left. Yeah, that's the curse. I was like,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I don't think you understand curses at all.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And it's hilarious because like all through my teams
- 29:10Speaker 2: and like young years and teams going out every game,
- 29:13Speaker 2: I mean all throughout the Gym Hazlet years, the Saints
- 29:16Speaker 2: were just bad and it would just be like every
- 29:18Speaker 2: well they are bad again. But my little brother, who's
- 29:21Speaker 2: way younger than me, he's only known the Saint says
- 29:24Speaker 2: like awesome. One of his first games was that game
- 29:28Speaker 2: where he dropped.
- 29:30Speaker 1: The ball the Katrina game.
- 29:32Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, he did. He did go to
- 29:34Speaker 2: that game though, but he was at that game. He
- 29:35Speaker 2: went to the game where they beat Philly to move
- 29:38Speaker 2: on to the NFC Championship for the first time. He
- 29:40Speaker 2: went to that NFC Championship against and I mean, just
- 29:44Speaker 2: let me just go ahead and take a dump on
- 29:46Speaker 2: the Chicago Bears fans for a second. Hey, those guys
- 29:49Speaker 2: through snowballs with nine Vault batteries inside of them at
- 29:53Speaker 2: Saints fans for that game, which is just grow up.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I get, you get like shouting staying awful things, talking trash.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I get that, but you're throwing nine vault batteries in
- 30:06Speaker 2: fast football. It's ridictous. That's terrible. But whatever. My brother
- 30:10Speaker 2: and my dad went to the Super Bowl when they won.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh that had so they only he only knows the thing,
- 30:16Speaker 1: says like, man, they're just great.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I just go they just win games.
- 30:19Speaker 1: He's it's almost even though you guys have the same dad,
- 30:22Speaker 1: it's almost like your two sons with different dads, and
- 30:25Speaker 1: yours wasn't around and his was a million. Yeah, like
- 30:28Speaker 1: that's you have. You've had very different upbringings.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's it's it's kind of wild. But like,
- 30:34Speaker 2: but I will say, you know, my dad was always
- 30:38Speaker 2: that very temperate Saints fan, which I kind of learned
- 30:40Speaker 2: from him. He was that like when they're winning, he's
- 30:43Speaker 2: buying drinks, he's high five with people, he's tracking jokes
- 30:46Speaker 2: when they're losing, and he's like, oh, well that Palmer
- 30:49Speaker 2: whatever next season. But all of my uncles and the
- 30:52Speaker 2: rest of my family goes like nuclear. Like my mom
- 30:58Speaker 2: when she loses, when the Saints are losing, some of
- 31:00Speaker 2: the shit that comes out of her mouth. Jee, I
- 31:03Speaker 2: didn't realize you could could buy those two words.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yeah, my dad gets he gets so nervous. He doesn't
- 31:10Speaker 1: he's not loud, he's not mean, he's not like depressed
- 31:13Speaker 1: after He's not an hole when something great happens to
- 31:18Speaker 1: the other fans. He doesn't go out of other teams,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but he just gets like he can't handle the pressure
- 31:24Speaker 1: of the big moments. It gets to him. He's got
- 31:26Speaker 1: to go on a walk. Man. Oh yeah, I thought
- 31:28Speaker 1: he might have to retire as a fan after last
- 31:31Speaker 1: year because there were so many crazy last minute moments. Uh,
- 31:37Speaker 1: let me let me ask you this and then we'll
- 31:39Speaker 1: get you out of here. Because we've talked a lot
- 31:42Speaker 1: about being humans. How do you feel about this game?
- 31:46Speaker 1: How do you feel about this version of the Saints?
- 31:48Speaker 1: The Vikings walk into this game with the Dobbs thing
- 31:52Speaker 1: going on, and there's this swirling vibe that even though
- 31:57Speaker 1: they're not gonna have Justin Jefferson this week and cam
- 32:01Speaker 1: Akers is now not going to be there, if they
- 32:03Speaker 1: can somehow figure out a way to get one this
- 32:07Speaker 1: week and they get to six and four and JJ like,
- 32:11Speaker 1: there's this this swirling idea that they could do something
- 32:15Speaker 1: fun for the rest of the year, but I it's
- 32:19Speaker 1: not like they can't if they lose this week. But
- 32:20Speaker 1: I think this week is a huge, huge piece of that.
- 32:23Speaker 1: So there's a lot of emotion wrapped into the Viking
- 32:27Speaker 1: side this week. With that said, you guys have Derek Carr,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you have a different coaching staff, you like I had
- 32:35Speaker 1: kind of I've had pretty high expectations. I'm one of
- 32:38Speaker 1: the few believers in Derek Carr. But where are you
- 32:41Speaker 1: at with your team walking into this game this week?
- 32:45Speaker 2: Well, my very good friend James Matter, fantastic comedian, opens
- 32:50Speaker 2: for Christis Stefano. He's from Vegas, right, so he sort
- 32:55Speaker 2: of adopted the Raiders, Like everybody in Vegas, they really
- 32:59Speaker 2: you know there, they adopt this FOURT team. And when
- 33:01Speaker 2: and when Derek Carr made the jump, he's like, they're
- 33:04Speaker 2: they're paying out, like having a gold retriever a quarterback.
- 33:07Speaker 2: It's like its beautiful form and when it when it
- 33:10Speaker 2: does something good, you're like, God, that's a magnificent beast.
- 33:12Speaker 2: That's a magnificent beast. But then you know you're like, oh,
- 33:15Speaker 2: that's right, it's a dog. It doesn't know it does
- 33:17Speaker 2: not call it audible. It's such a funny thing.
- 33:23Speaker 1: It's a really funny line.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, yeah, at the end of the day,
- 33:27Speaker 2: it's still it's still Derek Carr. And I want Derek
- 33:31Speaker 2: Carr to seed obviously because not just because he's the
- 33:34Speaker 2: same quarterback, but also, like I mean, that guy had
- 33:36Speaker 2: a ringer of a time in Vegas and in Oakland, Oakland,
- 33:42Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like like you want that
- 33:43Speaker 2: guy to succeed. He's got the he's got the physical skills,
- 33:47Speaker 2: and it's he seems to be, you know, getting better.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I think Peyton's tenure with the Saints was one of
- 33:53Speaker 2: the longest head coaching runs in the history of the sport.
- 33:58Speaker 2: It was a long It was you know, fifteenth sixteen seasons,
- 34:01Speaker 2: but he was suspended for the one still fifteen seasons
- 34:04Speaker 2: and mostly successful, and you sort of got used to
- 34:06Speaker 2: this level of like if they were gonna be if
- 34:09Speaker 2: it was gonna be bad, they were still gonna be
- 34:10Speaker 2: good bad. Does that make sense? Like like you know,
- 34:13Speaker 2: they had they had three they had three seven and
- 34:15Speaker 2: nine seasons before they got really good again. And after
- 34:18Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and even thee of those seven and
- 34:20Speaker 2: nine seasons, you were still like, ah, but says do
- 34:23Speaker 2: you still see that they're a good team. Yeah, it's
- 34:26Speaker 2: hard to say the same so far under the Dennis
- 34:30Speaker 2: Allen tender And I love that dude as a defensive coordinator.
- 34:33Speaker 2: He came in and changed the defense. I mean we
- 34:36Speaker 2: had Buddy Ryan, not Buddy Ryan.
- 34:38Speaker 1: No, you had one of the you had one of
- 34:39Speaker 1: the Ryans. You had not Rex Rob Ryan. You had
- 34:42Speaker 1: Rob Rob Ryan and his incredible hair. Yep, it had
- 34:46Speaker 1: been amazing. If you'd have had Buddy Ryan.
- 34:49Speaker 2: We can drug him back from the dead. Baby Saints,
- 34:53Speaker 2: you know, they're a non tooth. They can bring people back.
- 34:55Speaker 2: But Rob like that guy and that thing too. That
- 34:57Speaker 2: dude embraced the city. Rob Ryan or whenever he came
- 35:01Speaker 2: in that he was everywhere, all these paparazzi, you know,
- 35:04Speaker 2: him just partying with people, buying drinks. The shitty loved
- 35:06Speaker 2: him as a guy. But he was a terrible coordinator.
- 35:09Speaker 2: But Dennis Allen came in and just turned the defense
- 35:12Speaker 2: into a juggernaut. But it's like now you're watching them
- 35:15Speaker 2: play and you're like, do they did they forget that
- 35:17Speaker 2: Alvin kamaras on the team. Did they forget? How do
- 35:20Speaker 2: you know? It's like and and Chris Olov's great. I
- 35:23Speaker 2: love it, but it's also like, what do you you
- 35:25Speaker 2: know bringing back Jimmy Graham why he's thirty seven? Like
- 35:30Speaker 2: I guess from the locker room. Sure, but like aren't
- 35:33Speaker 2: there other things to focus on here? And so like
- 35:36Speaker 2: it seems like the offense right now is just like,
- 35:39Speaker 2: you know, it's back to that era of like, oh man,
- 35:41Speaker 2: they're not it's not the offense you got you to see.
- 35:43Speaker 2: You know, Drew Brees, even at the end when he
- 35:45Speaker 2: couldn't throw the ball longer further twenty five yards, was
- 35:49Speaker 2: still Drew Brees could still like see.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You'll still had the brain.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he could still make wins happen and make touchdowns
- 35:56Speaker 2: happen like somehow like it's almost like he had mind
- 35:59Speaker 2: control over like his reteemers, Like you could just be
- 36:02Speaker 2: like you're gonna be here and the ball's gonna be
- 36:04Speaker 2: there and you'll be fine. I'm not saying cars sucks
- 36:07Speaker 2: anything like that, because I don't think that. I'm just saying, like, man,
- 36:09Speaker 2: I really every game with the Saints feels like you know,
- 36:13Speaker 2: when you got a burp and you're like, oh, he's
- 36:14Speaker 2: doing for your big one. Oh here we go and
- 36:16Speaker 2: you're just like and it just kind of never happens,
- 36:20Speaker 2: and two hours later it's like a week cough, that's
- 36:22Speaker 2: what it kind of. I'm just like, like, come on,
- 36:25Speaker 2: just belt, guys, just rip one.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And I don't feel bad for anyone who's had a
- 36:32Speaker 1: Hall of Fame quarterback for nearly two decades. I do
- 36:35Speaker 1: think it is unique to have one of those and
- 36:38Speaker 1: then not have one. You know, if you spend almost
- 36:41Speaker 1: twenty years with Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Brett Favre,
- 36:46Speaker 1: Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, whoever it may be, it is
- 36:49Speaker 1: weird to all of a sudden go because you do
- 36:51Speaker 1: convince your no matter how great they are and how much,
- 36:56Speaker 1: no matter how much you believe you're able to understand
- 36:59Speaker 1: how great they are and how fortunate you are to
- 37:01Speaker 1: be watching them, your brain still goes like, yeah, but
- 37:04Speaker 1: we'll be okay.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Ah.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It's the world out here with the non Hall of
- 37:09Speaker 1: Fame quarterbacks is an interesting world, and it's it's one
- 37:13Speaker 1: that you have to you have to get used to.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Because that's the other thing too. You know, people like as
- 37:19Speaker 2: far as that's or whatnot, go like, car, isn't that
- 37:23Speaker 2: different from Drew Brees when he came to the things, like,
- 37:27Speaker 2: Drew Brees, wasn't this like Harold, did you know, genius quarterback?
- 37:31Speaker 2: When he came to the things, he was kind of
- 37:33Speaker 2: talked away by San Diego and people were like, ah,
- 37:36Speaker 2: he had that one really good season and he was
- 37:38Speaker 2: great in college, but he hasn't really shown anything in
- 37:41Speaker 2: the pros and now his shoulders blown, so good luck.
- 37:45Speaker 2: And you could look at Car the same way. You're like,
- 37:47Speaker 2: you know, you had seven seasons and some of them
- 37:50Speaker 2: were great, some were bumpy. But then also you had
- 37:53Speaker 2: you know, fifteen offensive coordinators whatever you know, and all that,
- 37:58Speaker 2: you know, all the Antonio Browns off of the John
- 38:00Speaker 2: Rudin ship, and so many head coaches like he'd been
- 38:04Speaker 2: through the the the head coaching personnel version of a
- 38:08Speaker 2: blown shoulder. So you're like, maybe this guy could be
- 38:12Speaker 2: that good, and you've start to then you start to
- 38:15Speaker 2: wonder like could he have been that good under Peyton?
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and then it kills you.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Every single Saints fan knew what was happening when he
- 38:23Speaker 2: stepped down. Everyone we're like, he needs to get away
- 38:26Speaker 2: from the organization. The salary cap is you need to
- 38:29Speaker 2: get away He's stressed out and tired of constantly having
- 38:32Speaker 2: to right the ship, even though Mickey Looms is great
- 38:34Speaker 2: at what he does and everyone knew he was coming back,
- 38:38Speaker 2: just not as a Saint. Oh it hurts, Oh it hurts.
- 38:41Speaker 2: It does It does feel a little good to watch
- 38:43Speaker 2: him struggle with Denver. Not gonna lie to you, but
- 38:46Speaker 2: you gotta stop wondering because you can only move on, you.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Know, just got to exist in the now. I'm gonna
- 38:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna make you do this, and I'm sorry about it.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I make everybody do it. Can I get a prediction?
- 38:57Speaker 1: A score prediction for the game this weekend?
- 38:59Speaker 2: A fan, and I want to see it go, but
- 39:01Speaker 2: I want to win. Twenty eight to twenty seven New
- 39:04Speaker 2: Orleans Saints.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I love it. I think you know, you do have
- 39:07Speaker 1: a very good defense. The Vikings defense has been playing well.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So I think I'm gonna go Saints thirteen. Okay, Vikings
- 39:16Speaker 1: one hundred and thirty eight. Sean, I I love you
- 39:20Speaker 1: a great deal. I really appreciate you doing this, man.
