- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Paul is a pain in the ass sometimes,
- 0:15Speaker 1: but now he has a pain in the ass well
- 0:16Speaker 1: as hard as the Patriots had it in Buffalo. I
- 0:18Speaker 1: don't think anybody's got a harder than Paul's doctor right
- 0:20Speaker 1: about now, the oceanographers are there. It's like we have
- 0:23Speaker 1: a boa. We're all going to be there sooner or sooner.
- 0:27Speaker 1: They've all got a year in the program. Now, let's
- 0:29Speaker 1: let's give it a little bit more time before we
- 0:31Speaker 1: rush to start cutting people. People are just way too impatient.
- 0:34Speaker 1: It just rubs me the wrong. Yeah, you know, not
- 0:37Speaker 1: really Grimes kind to try to find a Paul Cadence
- 0:39Speaker 1: to do this with. So, yeah, last week we all
- 0:42Speaker 1: had a pretty good week, some of us more than others,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and it was not a pretty one for the entire proof.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We've got in first place a three way time overall.
- 0:53Speaker 1: By the way, a blendie who actually keeps the right
- 0:55Speaker 1: score confirmed that in the regular season. Of course, Eric
- 0:59Speaker 1: did win a game. Somewhere. Paul is shaking his fists
- 1:08Speaker 1: this is Patriot's Unfiltered fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome
- 1:15Speaker 1: to Patriots Unfiltered. It's Tuesday here at Gillette's Stadium, and
- 1:20Speaker 1: Patriots Nation is is a lot of consternation. I had
- 1:24Speaker 1: us tight. Yeah, no, Blundie head me up by one. Anyway, Yes,
- 1:31Speaker 1: a lot of consternation in Patriot's Nation because what they
- 1:35Speaker 1: witnessed over the weekend and by the way, a great
- 1:38Speaker 1: weekend of football. Awesome made up for the weekend before.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But we don't have that. We want that, Yeah, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and I think I think, um, it made people realize,
- 1:49Speaker 1: like in terms of that level of play from the
- 1:52Speaker 1: quarterback position, we had a long way to go. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 1: well I don't know. I mean, I don't know if
- 1:57Speaker 1: you could ever get there what those guys do with Max.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Now it's not that mac Jones can't win, but those
- 2:01Speaker 1: guys are special. Yeah. I thought it was more in
- 2:03Speaker 1: terms of just to the level of play. Now obviously
- 2:06Speaker 1: a quarterback is I mean, Alan and Mahomes just right
- 2:09Speaker 1: through Haymakers for the last two minutes of that game
- 2:12Speaker 1: were insane. Those are the best two teams in the league,
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think, Yeah, And it's it's shame that they had
- 2:17Speaker 1: to play in the division around, But you're right, friend,
- 2:18Speaker 1: they have four games go down to the very last
- 2:20Speaker 1: play of the game, one after another. Right, Yeah. I
- 2:23Speaker 1: was just surprised how much you can't break the NFL.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's it's unbreakable. It was. It was especially after last week.
- 2:29Speaker 1: There weren't there were a lot of bad games, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: it just it was awesome into but it was a prelude. Prelude. Uh.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And I was surprised that I found myself rooting for Buffalo,
- 2:38Speaker 1: Like I don't really try to think about it too much,
- 2:40Speaker 1: but as I was watching the game, when they were
- 2:41Speaker 1: making them like let's go. I mean, I probably not alone.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I know a lot of Patriots fans don't want to
- 2:46Speaker 1: see Kansas City win again, but but I was. I
- 2:48Speaker 1: was legitimately invested in the I'm trying to win that game,
- 2:50Speaker 1: so I was a little bit to I I was mad.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I was. I was mad at the Bill's defense, Like
- 2:58Speaker 1: you can't play defense for thirteen seconds after what your
- 3:02Speaker 1: quarterbacks just it was embarrassing. I mean, well, that's that's good.
- 3:05Speaker 1: One thought it was over. Like I said it, Tyson,
- 3:07Speaker 1: when I was watching it, you said it too, that
- 3:09Speaker 1: that everybody wasting time is there's thirteen secons And like
- 3:15Speaker 1: I told Mike, I had like three different text chains
- 3:17Speaker 1: going at the time. Like the only thing I did,
- 3:19Speaker 1: which I try very hard to do all of the
- 3:22Speaker 1: time on those weekends, I stayed off Twitter. Um, but
- 3:26Speaker 1: I had like all kinds of interactions going on, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: everybody there was like eleven different people thirteen seconds. Mahomes
- 3:34Speaker 1: you never know, like nobody counted them out. And there's
- 3:37Speaker 1: only to me two guys it's Brady and Mahomes that
- 3:40Speaker 1: people would have acted like that. Yeah, everybody else thirteen
- 3:43Speaker 1: seconds you would say the game is over. And as
- 3:45Speaker 1: good as the quarterback play was, the defense is off
- 3:48Speaker 1: weren't good. I mean that Brady game twenty seven to three,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I mean that was like a meltdown. Well that was
- 3:57Speaker 1: played great. Yeah, their offense keep really good, but it
- 4:00Speaker 1: was a meltdown to allow Brady to get back into it. Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I mean four fumbles in a missfield goal and basically
- 4:07Speaker 1: a half. It was a half and a play. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 1: just unbelievable. And then the green Bay game, I just
- 4:13Speaker 1: think I don't know what was going on with green
- 4:16Speaker 1: Bay's offense, but it just seems like throughout the game,
- 4:19Speaker 1: Rogers was pouty and just didn't want to go to
- 4:22Speaker 1: anyone except you know, Monteana. It's just like there's other
- 4:26Speaker 1: guys you can go to, and I don't you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I'm not buying it was the cold that oh no, no, no,
- 4:33Speaker 1: no way. Yeah. I mean the conditions didn't help. I mean,
- 4:36Speaker 1: obviously it's harder and bad conditions, but I mean he's
- 4:39Speaker 1: played in that, yeah, absolutely, yeah, So I don't know
- 4:42Speaker 1: what was going on there. You know, he's I don't
- 4:44Speaker 1: think he's long for Green Bay, but I don't know Otherwise, like,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you know, getting this back to the Patriots, you know,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think a lot of Patriots fans were like, holy crap,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you know, that's what it was a lot of that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: that's what you have to do to win now. Oh yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 1: And I get it. But I also think, like I
- 5:02Speaker 1: watched it, and I said, all these guys have two
- 5:04Speaker 1: awesome weapons, you know, and it's not like seven different guys,
- 5:08Speaker 1: it's two guys. So I mean, you know, at one hand,
- 5:11Speaker 1: I know it's hard to get those guys. And we
- 5:12Speaker 1: talk about it sixty percent of the time on the
- 5:15Speaker 1: radio show of How To get that kind of player
- 5:17Speaker 1: into the system. But you know, I think that there's
- 5:20Speaker 1: a clarity of that, And then I also think coming
- 5:22Speaker 1: out of it, you're like, do we even try on
- 5:24Speaker 1: defense anymore? Like what's the point? You know, like nobody
- 5:26Speaker 1: can do anything anymore? Obviously that I think when you
- 5:30Speaker 1: have two guys like Alan and Mahomes who were that
- 5:32Speaker 1: on throwing and then willing to run, I don't know
- 5:35Speaker 1: how you stop that and it didn't like the weapons
- 5:39Speaker 1: thing to me is of far less significance as that
- 5:42Speaker 1: just quar What do you like when you do cover them,
- 5:45Speaker 1: they just run for the fret Like the first the
- 5:47Speaker 1: first possession of the game, Well, the Bills went down
- 5:50Speaker 1: the field and score. Then Kids of City gets it
- 5:52Speaker 1: and it's like a third down. He runs up the
- 5:54Speaker 1: Mahomes runs up the thirty five yards. It was like
- 5:57Speaker 1: where is everybody? Like, like to your point, like can
- 6:00Speaker 1: you even play defense anymore? Yeah? So you know, job
- 6:04Speaker 1: number one I think for the Patriots this offseason is
- 6:07Speaker 1: how do we how do we, in Bill's words, keep
- 6:10Speaker 1: up with Josh Allen in a game? But Paul wrote
- 6:14Speaker 1: the story last week, you gotta get fast, you need speed. Yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but I mean, overall, we're not going to We're not gonna,
- 6:21Speaker 1: like all of a sudden, have an offense that's as
- 6:23Speaker 1: high powered as them, you know, whether it's Kansas City
- 6:27Speaker 1: or you know, even Cincinnati or Buffalo. So we've got
- 6:31Speaker 1: to win in a different way. We've got to blend it.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know, We've got to figure out how to make
- 6:34Speaker 1: a couple stops throughout the game and keep up that
- 6:38Speaker 1: way because you know, when all of a sudden, you know,
- 6:41Speaker 1: Matt Jones isn't going to become one of those quarterbacks.
- 6:43Speaker 1: We're not going to get a Tyree Kill all of
- 6:45Speaker 1: a sudden. You know, we're gonna have to figure it
- 6:47Speaker 1: out another way. Well you could, I mean to do
- 6:50Speaker 1: this point, you could get a Tyree Kill all of
- 6:52Speaker 1: a sudden, like if he's available in free agency, like
- 6:55Speaker 1: you get somebody like that, or you draft somebody. Now
- 6:57Speaker 1: you've got your two offensive you know, our houses to
- 7:00Speaker 1: complement the quarterback. I mean that's easier to do that.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I think to rebuild a defense and get at speed
- 7:06Speaker 1: over Tyree Hill is the number one, Like that's speed
- 7:11Speaker 1: at a different level. But you need to get some
- 7:14Speaker 1: guys that are faster. Yeah, So when the game. You know,
- 7:18Speaker 1: so when you're when you're playing in a game like that,
- 7:21Speaker 1: you can throw a crosser to a guy who can
- 7:23Speaker 1: do what Tyree Hill did at the end of the game.
- 7:26Speaker 1: By earlier in the game, he threw a little screen
- 7:29Speaker 1: to Nicole Hardman, who took a meaningless little flip and
- 7:34Speaker 1: you know, went twenty five yards for a touchdown just
- 7:36Speaker 1: by scooting by everybody. The Patriots don't have that ability,
- 7:41Speaker 1: and that would I mean, all quarterbacks would benefit from
- 7:44Speaker 1: that kind of that kind of playmaking. Yeah, And I
- 7:46Speaker 1: think also too, you know, talk about the Bills Bennefit
- 7:49Speaker 1: the running game, you know, I think, I mean, I
- 7:50Speaker 1: still think that you talk about beating the Bills, I
- 7:52Speaker 1: still think you need a running game. If they're gonna
- 7:54Speaker 1: stick with their kind of defensive philosophy, you can't lean
- 7:57Speaker 1: completely on it. And I don't really I'm not trying
- 8:00Speaker 1: to say that they should continue down the road of
- 8:02Speaker 1: we're gonna power, run, we're gonna tap, you know zig
- 8:05Speaker 1: what everybody's acting. I don't buy that. But I think
- 8:07Speaker 1: that if they have just a little bit more speed
- 8:09Speaker 1: and ability to have big plays, they got to think
- 8:11Speaker 1: more about the past. It might open stuff up for
- 8:13Speaker 1: Harrison Stevenson, and I think those are two good running
- 8:15Speaker 1: backs that you can you know, produce with and and
- 8:18Speaker 1: potentially get Buffalo out of their game. But and the
- 8:21Speaker 1: and then the other thing that emerged from the weekend,
- 8:24Speaker 1: you know, because another team other than the Patriots lost
- 8:28Speaker 1: uh in overtime in you know, one possession fashion, So
- 8:32Speaker 1: we got to change the overtime rules now, you know.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I mean, I'm open to suggestions, you know, I just
- 8:40Speaker 1: I don't really understand the Patriots role in this. If
- 8:42Speaker 1: the Patriots had been victim of this, no one would
- 8:44Speaker 1: care about changing the rules. But any other team that's
- 8:46Speaker 1: victim too. So the last time this became a big deal, right,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Kansas City lost? Right? Right? Did they change it? They
- 8:53Speaker 1: wanted to, but they didn't know, but Kansas City petition
- 8:57Speaker 1: the league to change it. Right, But now we're happening again.
- 9:00Speaker 1: What did this have to do with the Patriots? So
- 9:02Speaker 1: it wasn't a Patriots team that lost. So again there's
- 9:04Speaker 1: an uproar. We have to change it. I don't I'm
- 9:06Speaker 1: not saying they will, but they have to change I
- 9:08Speaker 1: think it's just that it was it was a shame
- 9:10Speaker 1: that the Bills lost the way they did, and people
- 9:12Speaker 1: are saying that one would say stretch. And what I'm saying, Eric,
- 9:15Speaker 1: is if it was the Patriots, they wouldn't say it's
- 9:17Speaker 1: a sham. Of course they would, No, they wouldn't. They would.
- 9:20Speaker 1: First of all, the Patriots would never lose a coin toss.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So you're saying, let's call it what it is. If
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Patriots, I mean, if the Chiefs had won the
- 9:27Speaker 1: coin toss against New England and gone, and that would
- 9:31Speaker 1: never no one would care, No one would care, people
- 9:33Speaker 1: would care, they'd be happy. I love these rules. It
- 9:35Speaker 1: didn't get the Patriots a chance every every time, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: overtime ends on the first drive. This happens regardless of
- 9:43Speaker 1: the winners. Yeah, it wouldn't have happened anyway, it does.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And knows what I'm saying. Since they change, since they
- 9:52Speaker 1: change over time, since they that's a good cru of you. Hey, sorry,
- 9:59Speaker 1: Mike um. Since they change the overtime rule, the coin
- 10:03Speaker 1: and for the playoffs is ten and one, which because
- 10:07Speaker 1: in the regular season it's much more even. By the way,
- 10:10Speaker 1: the winning percentage does not calculate. Did you see that text.
- 10:13Speaker 1: They're ignoring the ties, they're counting the ties as lost. Like,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I have a proposal. Do you want to hear it? Yeah,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I mean very complicated proposal. It's it's not too complicated. Um,
- 10:26Speaker 1: So every both teams get a possession. So if the
- 10:30Speaker 1: Patriots go down score touchdown the offensive possession. Yeah, if
- 10:33Speaker 1: you know, obviously turnover defensive score, it ends. But Patriots
- 10:38Speaker 1: go if they score, no matter what touchdown, field goal,
- 10:41Speaker 1: the other team gets a possession. If at the end
- 10:44Speaker 1: of two possessions it's still tied, you play out the
- 10:48Speaker 1: quarter no matter what. So not sudden death. You play
- 10:51Speaker 1: out the quarter, and whoever's winning at the end of
- 10:53Speaker 1: the quarter wins. If the quarter ends and it's still tied,
- 10:57Speaker 1: you go back to the start coin and you play
- 11:00Speaker 1: the quarter. You play it over from as if it's
- 11:03Speaker 1: started over time again. I might have no problem with that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I would just play another quarter and just have it
- 11:08Speaker 1: be a time. Gotta be a thing, just like Bill
- 11:11Speaker 1: Belichickson another thing, you know, I regular football. Another thing
- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm in agreement with Bill on I just don't really
- 11:18Speaker 1: know how why it's so hard to just play a
- 11:21Speaker 1: quarter of football so you're seeing the player, Like if
- 11:23Speaker 1: in the playoffs, you want to keep the regular season
- 11:24Speaker 1: the way, it is fine because you don't want them
- 11:27Speaker 1: to play that much more. What the windows, Yeah, you
- 11:30Speaker 1: don't have to worry about that stuff in the playoffs.
- 11:32Speaker 1: But you're saying, keep playing full quarters in the playoffs
- 11:36Speaker 1: until if it's tied after two possessions, each possession, play
- 11:40Speaker 1: the play out the quarter. I'm okay with Fred's thing there,
- 11:42Speaker 1: but I would just say, we're going to play a quarter, right,
- 11:45Speaker 1: and whoever has the most points after this fifth quarter wins.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But if it's the fifth quarter, then you play, We're
- 11:51Speaker 1: put play another quarter. Yeah, right, but that's a lot
- 11:54Speaker 1: of football. I would take them the extra thirty minutes, Paul,
- 11:58Speaker 1: let's go what I don't under saying, what's the difference. Well,
- 12:03Speaker 1: there have been plenty of double overtime playoffs. I know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I know, but like if it's tied after one quarter,
- 12:09Speaker 1: you're guaranteed to play another quarter. That's a lot. I mean,
- 12:14Speaker 1: just score and how many times would that happen? I
- 12:18Speaker 1: don't know. I just don't like the idea of the
- 12:21Speaker 1: coin toss being such a such an instrumental part. And
- 12:25Speaker 1: listen was the only mistake Josh Allen made. It still
- 12:27Speaker 1: would be because you still would have the advantage. If
- 12:30Speaker 1: you get the ball first, m you still would have
- 12:33Speaker 1: that advantage. But so in overtime he wants the ball.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But if he didn't, yes, because the game ends if
- 12:40Speaker 1: I score. I'm just teasing. God. What if what if
- 12:42Speaker 1: the coin toss someone someone didn't defer this weekend and
- 12:46Speaker 1: got black. I forget someone, I forget What if the
- 12:51Speaker 1: coin toss was replaced by the team that had the
- 12:54Speaker 1: lead for the most amount of time in the game
- 12:56Speaker 1: gets the choice? Uh, other than a coin toss, I've
- 13:01Speaker 1: never considered that. How about rock paper scissors? Yeah? Yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I mean I'm not and I'm not a huge I
- 13:09Speaker 1: don't have a huge, huge problem with a lot of
- 13:11Speaker 1: the alterations that people have had. But at the same time,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I don't think we talked about enough of Buffalo in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the last thirteen seconds. I just don't understand. I don't
- 13:25Speaker 1: understand what they were doing, as your guys say, Red
- 13:27Speaker 1: asked McDermott. Is he um culpable for any of that?
- 13:32Speaker 1: He's the head coach? Oh? Yes, yeah, I think the
- 13:34Speaker 1: bigger the bigger problem was the defense. Yeah, and I
- 13:40Speaker 1: have to I mean, you can make an argument that
- 13:42Speaker 1: they called time out so McDermott had to be on
- 13:45Speaker 1: board with whatever they were doing, right, But I put
- 13:47Speaker 1: it on Leslie Fraser. Those two plays. I thought they
- 13:50Speaker 1: had nobody jamming the receivers, they had no pressure on
- 13:54Speaker 1: the passer, they had all of the coverage sort of
- 13:57Speaker 1: focused outside the numbers. I didn't think anything as if
- 14:00Speaker 1: they had no end timeout anything. I didn't think anything.
- 14:03Speaker 1: They can do whatever they wanted. It. Didn't think anything
- 14:07Speaker 1: they did made any sense. Yeah, in addition to not
- 14:09Speaker 1: kicking the ball off properly, like they should have made me,
- 14:12Speaker 1: that's the least of it. Yeah, I think Kansas City
- 14:14Speaker 1: they should have made. Kansas City returned it to try
- 14:16Speaker 1: to take a play away. I can understand the thinking
- 14:18Speaker 1: behind what they did on the kickoff, because you do
- 14:22Speaker 1: run a risk, however small it is, that the guy's
- 14:24Speaker 1: going to return. I think you could make an argument
- 14:26Speaker 1: that there was a better chance that they're going to
- 14:27Speaker 1: be returning the kick for a touchdown than what happened happened,
- 14:30Speaker 1: or even that they return it like close enough to midfield.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So it's only one play, right, So I can understand that.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But if you're gonna do that, you need to play
- 14:38Speaker 1: some defense that makes sense, like Paul said, they like,
- 14:42Speaker 1: if you're not going to rush mahomes, then drop nine
- 14:46Speaker 1: or ten guys and flood the zones and don't give
- 14:48Speaker 1: Kelsey and Andy right not force them to use that timeout,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and like now they you know, they're incrementally trying to
- 14:57Speaker 1: move up and then time runs out on them, Like
- 14:59Speaker 1: you can't do it they did. I just don't get it,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and that's why I was. I was really mad because
- 15:03Speaker 1: I felt like they wasted the tremendous one of the
- 15:08Speaker 1: most tremendous efforts I've seen a quarterback in what in
- 15:11Speaker 1: what Josh Allen did, especially like the circumstances, like every
- 15:16Speaker 1: time Kansasy scored they had to respond, they responded, and
- 15:19Speaker 1: it was like long drives the score. But the first
- 15:26Speaker 1: drive that they they took, the first drive that they
- 15:28Speaker 1: took the lead on that they ended up scoring on
- 15:31Speaker 1: fourth and thirteen, Like that drive was unbelievably clutched the
- 15:36Speaker 1: place that Josh Allen made on that drive, and then
- 15:39Speaker 1: you know these people like, oh, the defender fell down.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Did you see how he fell down? Because he was
- 15:43Speaker 1: scrambling around and makeing he just gave Davis went down
- 15:47Speaker 1: the field broke to the outside and cut inside and
- 15:50Speaker 1: made the guy. He broke the guy's ankles. If that
- 15:54Speaker 1: play happened on the what what what what are we
- 15:56Speaker 1: doing here? If that play had happened in the NBA,
- 15:59Speaker 1: esan would have suspended all operations and just ran that
- 16:02Speaker 1: play for like twenty four hours straight, because whenever a
- 16:05Speaker 1: guy like breaks down someone off the dribble in the NBA.
- 16:10Speaker 1: That's what he did with the absolute game on the line,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and no one even talks about it. But I thought
- 16:15Speaker 1: you were talking about Josh Allen's big plays and I'm
- 16:18Speaker 1: not even talking about his throws, like to escape the
- 16:20Speaker 1: pressure in the pocket. He made some incredible moves to
- 16:24Speaker 1: get away from pressure on several of those throws, including
- 16:28Speaker 1: the two point conversion and uh and that poor defensive
- 16:31Speaker 1: back that he ran over its line on the field, Like,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I mean, the game itself was unbelievable, and I know
- 16:42Speaker 1: that purists probably looked at it and say, well, Chiefs,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you know there was no defense at all, and you're right,
- 16:46Speaker 1: it wasn't. But you know, anytime you get twenty five
- 16:48Speaker 1: points scored in the last minute, fifty whatever it was,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I can watching like this is I can't believe what
- 16:54Speaker 1: I'm seeing. Yeah, you know, not not not necessarily related
- 16:58Speaker 1: to the last thirteen seconds though, But do you feel
- 17:01Speaker 1: like at any point the NFL is gonna change and
- 17:03Speaker 1: give the defense back a little bit? It just seems
- 17:05Speaker 1: like right now that that we're seeing more and more
- 17:07Speaker 1: defenses that just can't don't anything. Because we think about
- 17:12Speaker 1: how exciting people were about this weekend, why so the
- 17:16Speaker 1: offenses no one talked about them, no one. No one
- 17:18Speaker 1: talked about the Packers, right, But to be fair about it,
- 17:21Speaker 1: I mean Alan and Mahomes are rare to ruins. Yes,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I mean there's not gonna be like a slew of quarterbacks.
- 17:27Speaker 1: They can do what they can do. I mean, forget
- 17:29Speaker 1: about the running, which is amazing, just the angles that
- 17:32Speaker 1: they can watch passes away. We're all we talk about
- 17:37Speaker 1: like the last two passes that Mahomes did you know
- 17:40Speaker 1: the thirteen seconds and how bad the defense was. Watch
- 17:42Speaker 1: where the ball goes to Kelsey on the last play
- 17:46Speaker 1: and watch how he hits him. Yeah, absolutely perfectly in
- 17:49Speaker 1: stride and evidently that was an ad lib Kelsey. Yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 1: to have him be that in tune with his guy
- 17:56Speaker 1: and put it because if he has to like stop
- 17:59Speaker 1: turn that's probably going to give the guy time to
- 18:01Speaker 1: tackle them. The route was an ad libby sent Yeah. Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 1: they like work something out before, not usually what they do. Yeah,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and he just puts it right on him. He didn't
- 18:11Speaker 1: make him slow down at all. It's not the fastest
- 18:13Speaker 1: guy in the world, Kelsey, It's not Tyree Hill. So
- 18:16Speaker 1: we had to give it to him so we could
- 18:18Speaker 1: get up the field. And the other thing that really
- 18:21Speaker 1: struck me. And I know a ton of guys had
- 18:23Speaker 1: these videos yesterday, and I think Glowski had a great
- 18:26Speaker 1: breakdown just you know, you contrast this with what Dallas
- 18:30Speaker 1: did the week before, and everybody knew exactly what to do.
- 18:36Speaker 1: This lineman, the rookie center running down the field on
- 18:40Speaker 1: the Kelsey play going like this like the center is
- 18:43Speaker 1: calling time out. Everybody knew exactly what they had to
- 18:47Speaker 1: do where they had to go. The Rams game the ROMs,
- 18:50Speaker 1: they go forty four yards down the field and were
- 18:53Speaker 1: able to spike the ball with ease, like they were
- 18:55Speaker 1: over the ball to the point where Stafford was waiting
- 18:59Speaker 1: because he knows if someone isn't aligned properly, or if
- 19:02Speaker 1: someone makes a movement, that's a ten second run off.
- 19:05Speaker 1: The game's over, well over time it would have been,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but they had plenty of time, and he waited and
- 19:11Speaker 1: waited and waited, snapped it and spiked it with four
- 19:14Speaker 1: seconds left. Right. That's that's one of the sickest moves
- 19:18Speaker 1: every He just fell down. If I'm telling you, if
- 19:23Speaker 1: this was the NBA, he looked like I would show
- 19:25Speaker 1: bad play in perpetuity. Yeah he doesn't. He looks like
- 19:28Speaker 1: a sniper shot him. Yeah. Yeah. You know who got
- 19:33Speaker 1: a bad too. Was one of the Patriots defensive backs
- 19:35Speaker 1: last week against josh Awens. Remember that, Yeah, And I
- 19:39Speaker 1: remember I said I am absolving him of all responsibility
- 19:43Speaker 1: on that said, I can't, I can't make he comes
- 19:47Speaker 1: up on the practice squad for like a half hour
- 19:50Speaker 1: and as that happens, to rust it for that situation. Um,
- 19:54Speaker 1: then you know our quarterback on lease Brady? Um, you
- 19:58Speaker 1: know on lease Freddy? Did you just thinking that? Yeah?
- 20:02Speaker 1: That was good twenty seven to three, And yes, you
- 20:06Speaker 1: know he was allowed to come back in that game.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It wasn't all Brady that did it, but but there
- 20:11Speaker 1: was a guy who's gonna do it, you know, like
- 20:14Speaker 1: it's it's Brady. And that's another one Michaels was saying
- 20:18Speaker 1: it like in the first half, right, you know, you
- 20:19Speaker 1: think you think Brady's going to have a conversation with
- 20:22Speaker 1: his teammates, say, I remember being done so twenty seven,
- 20:26Speaker 1: twenty seven. I was ready to go on another round
- 20:30Speaker 1: of tease. I'm telling him just unbelievable. But then some
- 20:34Speaker 1: comments after the Um, you know, just just this last week, Um,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I think lended more toward retirement than anything I've ever
- 20:43Speaker 1: heard him say. So I'm gonna read it because he
- 20:46Speaker 1: had it on his podcast last night, the Let's Go Podcast.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah Jim. He was asked some times about it, and
- 20:53Speaker 1: he said, um, and I care a lot about what
- 20:59Speaker 1: they're trying to wish as a team, and I care
- 21:01Speaker 1: a lot about my teammates. And the biggest difference now
- 21:03Speaker 1: is that I'm older, and as you know, and I
- 21:05Speaker 1: have my kids now too. You know, when they care,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I care a lot about them as well. They've been
- 21:10Speaker 1: my biggest supporters. My wife is my biggest supporter. It
- 21:12Speaker 1: paints her to see me get hit out there. And
- 21:14Speaker 1: she deserves what she needs for me as a husband,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and my kids deserve what they need for me as
- 21:19Speaker 1: a dad. And I'm going to spend some time with
- 21:20Speaker 1: them and give them what they need, because they've really
- 21:23Speaker 1: been giving me what I need the last six months.
- 21:27Speaker 1: So I can go out and do what I love
- 21:28Speaker 1: to do. I said this a few years ago. It's
- 21:30Speaker 1: what relationships are all about. It's not always about what
- 21:33Speaker 1: I want, it's what we want as a family. And
- 21:37Speaker 1: I'm going to spend a lot of time with them
- 21:38Speaker 1: and figure out the future, figure out in the future
- 21:41Speaker 1: what's next. So Fat to me is as close to
- 21:44Speaker 1: me has ever been. So ifon Tampa, I'm like, okay, great,
- 21:47Speaker 1: what are you doing because we need to plan for
- 21:49Speaker 1: twenty twenty three or two. You know, what are you doing?
- 21:55Speaker 1: And you got to tell us sooner than later as
- 21:57Speaker 1: we got free agency in the draft and everything. And
- 22:00Speaker 1: I think Rogers had the same sort of honest response
- 22:04Speaker 1: when he was asked about his situation, and he said, look,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna take a little bit of time, but then
- 22:08Speaker 1: when I get back, I'm going to talk to the
- 22:10Speaker 1: people here, meaning Green Bay, and you know, you know,
- 22:13Speaker 1: figure it out and work. And he said, I'm going
- 22:15Speaker 1: to do it before free agency or any of that
- 22:17Speaker 1: stuff starts. So like he's already like said like I'm
- 22:20Speaker 1: gonna make a decision so that it doesn't affect the
- 22:24Speaker 1: fortunes of the team, which hopefully he is a man
- 22:26Speaker 1: of his word when he's going because and he's honestly
- 22:30Speaker 1: again he said, I don't want to be a part
- 22:32Speaker 1: of a rebuild, and that's where they're headed. They're gonna
- 22:34Speaker 1: they gotta turn it over to the new quarterback, and
- 22:36Speaker 1: they gotta find a way to have life after Rogers
- 22:40Speaker 1: and Adams because Adams is going. So you know, when
- 22:42Speaker 1: you think about it, Brady and Wilson and Rogers and
- 22:47Speaker 1: there's there could be more movement of star players this
- 22:50Speaker 1: offseason than we've seen in a while. You know, do
- 22:52Speaker 1: you think about that? Oh God, do you think Brady
- 22:56Speaker 1: plays anywhere else? Is there a chance next year Tampa
- 22:59Speaker 1: Tampa retires the reasons he quits or the reason he
- 23:02Speaker 1: leaves Tampas for what he said, then no, right, I
- 23:05Speaker 1: think I mean, why is it any different if you're
- 23:06Speaker 1: in San Francisco than Tampa. I think there's a chance.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But I'm with friend, Yeah, he's really fraudulent if he
- 23:13Speaker 1: just wants the place. I think Florio kind of speculating
- 23:16Speaker 1: them where, like where would the where we see San Francisco,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I mean, depending on what if. Yeah, I mean San
- 23:23Speaker 1: Francisco's perfect because you got a guy who the rookie,
- 23:26Speaker 1: who could use another year sitting on the bench watching,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know, just like Garoppolo did here. And you know
- 23:32Speaker 1: who better to watch than Tom Brady, you know, so
- 23:35Speaker 1: that would make sense if a lot of teams. Yeah,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I know, that's why. That's why I ask. And you know,
- 23:40Speaker 1: I mean tampa Is still has a lot of good pieces,
- 23:42Speaker 1: but you know, it's just it's you can tell and
- 23:44Speaker 1: starting to come apart a little bit a lot. Well,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I see, that's part of what. I think he's tired
- 23:50Speaker 1: of coaching in playing and I'm not talking about being
- 23:53Speaker 1: the GM. I think he'd do that forever. I think
- 23:55Speaker 1: he loves the ability to pick and choose the players
- 23:57Speaker 1: he wants to play with. I think he loves that power.
- 24:00Speaker 1: But I don't think he wants to say, guys, you
- 24:02Speaker 1: can't jump offside, right, really, guys can't do that, you know,
- 24:06Speaker 1: And I think that's what he has to do. Come on, yeah, yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I think he has to do everything. He doesn't patience
- 24:13Speaker 1: they suffer from, as my brother likes to say, terminal stupidity. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 1: And what happened with Arians hitting somebody? I like, I
- 24:20Speaker 1: saw you got wild card even somebody. Oh I don't
- 24:25Speaker 1: think he deserved anything. Come on, he slapped the guy.
- 24:29Speaker 1: The only the only difference between that and what he
- 24:31Speaker 1: hayes is he's he smacked a guy on his own team. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: that's the only difference. Like, Tan ain't all right for me.
- 24:37Speaker 1: If someone hits me like that, I'll tell you that
- 24:39Speaker 1: somebody who made a mistake slapped him. Oh yeah, he was.
- 24:42Speaker 1: He was. There was like a pile. Yeah, there was
- 24:45Speaker 1: a pilot. I don't remember if it was a fumble,
- 24:47Speaker 1: but there was a guy, you know, and it's a penalty,
- 24:49Speaker 1: like you started taking guy. You know. He didn't he
- 24:52Speaker 1: didn't really do it. He was just kind of an Arians, like,
- 24:55Speaker 1: as my brother says, the red face dummy. He just
- 24:57Speaker 1: comes running out onto the field and wax him in
- 25:00Speaker 1: the side of the hit like not cool, not cool,
- 25:04Speaker 1: like the three stooges out there I am. I mean
- 25:10Speaker 1: he sounds like Arian sounds like a great guy to
- 25:13Speaker 1: I sit down at the bar with and just talk
- 25:16Speaker 1: about crap for like a half hour. But I wouldn't
- 25:19Speaker 1: want him as my car. Yeah, I think he's kind
- 25:21Speaker 1: of he's kind of losing it. When it goes it's hard.
- 25:24Speaker 1: It's hard for him to when it's good, get everybody
- 25:27Speaker 1: back on the straight and narrow. And last year everything
- 25:29Speaker 1: kind of was pulling and a lot of people feel
- 25:31Speaker 1: like that that was a big part of some of
- 25:33Speaker 1: their issues. Now Brady's so good it didn't matter and
- 25:36Speaker 1: he still won thirteen games. But even this last play,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you know, they they went zero cover blitz on the
- 25:43Speaker 1: last play, right, And instead of like sort of saying
- 25:47Speaker 1: that might have been a little more aggressive, he puts
- 25:49Speaker 1: it on the players, but some of them, some of
- 25:51Speaker 1: them didn't get the call right, And basically he's calling
- 25:54Speaker 1: out Lavante David because everybody's sort of going back and
- 25:57Speaker 1: looking to see what they may he may have been
- 25:59Speaker 1: taught talking about like that. That doesn't endear you to
- 26:03Speaker 1: you to your players. It's not the first time he's
- 26:05Speaker 1: done that. He did it to Brady the first game
- 26:07Speaker 1: of Brady's career, right, Yeah, So Brady, obviously, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 1: really you're gonna do that to me, like, but for
- 26:15Speaker 1: others it's like, to me, that's a different It's yet
- 26:17Speaker 1: another example of what happens when the team succeeds. It's hard.
- 26:21Speaker 1: That's been him. It's hard to keep things together. That's
- 26:24Speaker 1: his whole tenure. Like he's um, you know, like Matt
- 26:27Speaker 1: Smith does it great? No sock, I'm b a. No
- 26:30Speaker 1: one's gonna told me what to do, right, I'll call
- 26:33Speaker 1: me pa, you know, like that's what he is. That's
- 26:39Speaker 1: what he is. Yeah, So it's gonna be an interesting
- 26:42Speaker 1: off season as always as always, I mean I and
- 26:45Speaker 1: so if Brady stays, they're a super Bowl contender again.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I mean, let's you know, we can throw all the
- 26:49Speaker 1: dirt you want on Tampa. You know, as long as
- 26:51Speaker 1: Brady's they're quarterback. Much like what's the case here, Yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 1: they'll still be a super Bowl contender. Interesting that Godwin
- 26:57Speaker 1: was kind of his primary guy. I mean, I know
- 26:59Speaker 1: he was still able to do it, but it was
- 27:00Speaker 1: you know, it was a question of with Evans and
- 27:02Speaker 1: even you know Antonio briefly there, but you know, Godwin
- 27:05Speaker 1: seemed like his guy. So I mean maybe if he
- 27:07Speaker 1: maybe if they go out and get Godwin and bring
- 27:09Speaker 1: him back, that might maybe that might grease the wheels
- 27:11Speaker 1: a little bit with Tom haven't haven't at least him there.
- 27:14Speaker 1: But yeah, but I again, if what he said it's true,
- 27:19Speaker 1: if he really means that, that's his out. I could
- 27:21Speaker 1: have kept playing, but you know, family issues, and I
- 27:25Speaker 1: think that if you just think about the TB twelve dousiness,
- 27:29Speaker 1: it's better if he quits before he's done. Obviously. Yeah,
- 27:33Speaker 1: so there never can be an answer to how long
- 27:35Speaker 1: could he play? You could never You could always say
- 27:38Speaker 1: he came off one of the greatest years of his life. Yeah,
- 27:41Speaker 1: of course he could have played at forty five, right
- 27:43Speaker 1: or even more. You know, you don't know. There's no
- 27:46Speaker 1: definitive answer as opposed to he was slipping and then
- 27:49Speaker 1: he quit, and then you know the answer. I don't
- 27:52Speaker 1: hope Bucks fans feel, but I feel like Patriot fans
- 27:54Speaker 1: if he was pulling this here would be very anti Jaizelle,
- 27:57Speaker 1: Like this would be like, oh God should be the
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yoko own Oh yeah, the Patriots. Well, I think a
- 28:02Speaker 1: lot of people think of her that way anyway in
- 28:04Speaker 1: New England. But absolutely, Mike, Yeah, absolutely, But an unbelievable
- 28:08Speaker 1: weekend of no NFL theater at its best. See that
- 28:13Speaker 1: some of the numbers for the for the viewers. Do
- 28:16Speaker 1: you know that like at the the climax of the game,
- 28:20Speaker 1: the end of the two minute warning and the overtime
- 28:23Speaker 1: in Kansas City, they got like a ninety share. Yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 1: percent of the televisions that we're on, we're watching the
- 28:30Speaker 1: Chiefs build. Somebody said those ten percent they got it
- 28:35Speaker 1: wasnt no, it was like it was like two percent.
- 28:37Speaker 1: PBS that was the one that got two percent. And
- 28:39Speaker 1: then it was just like all cable news channels like
- 28:40Speaker 1: Fox News, it's yet wow. But but PBS somehow was
- 28:43Speaker 1: a second with two percent. That's crazy. But yeah, yeah,
- 28:48Speaker 1: And and then we didn't we didn't even talk about that.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Guy just said, oh, I forgot the game was we haven't.
- 28:53Speaker 1: We haven't even talked about you know, Joe Burrow in Cincinnati. Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 1: Joe Burrow. I think all Patriots Nation is pulling for that.
- 29:00Speaker 1: I think he just got sacked the Boles. Actually, I
- 29:02Speaker 1: just I don't think how do you get sacked? I
- 29:04Speaker 1: don't think. Still, I'll never get you guys, I'll never
- 29:07Speaker 1: get it. I can only imagine what was going through
- 29:09Speaker 1: Mike's mind like watching that game, Like how much hate
- 29:12Speaker 1: watching he must have been doing with Kansas Buffalo playing. Yeah, No,
- 29:15Speaker 1: I really, I really am not a fan of Kansas City,
- 29:19Speaker 1: and it's and you know, Cincinnati's got like a twenty
- 29:22Speaker 1: minute window, like they win this game and he'll have
- 29:24Speaker 1: him on the list. They'll be on the list too.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Look at look at the stupid sunglass in the post game,
- 29:29Speaker 1: look at the jacket. No, I just I don't like
- 29:32Speaker 1: how Patrick Mahomes. I don't like his whole qb ensom.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I hate his helmet. I was just like sitting there
- 29:36Speaker 1: like just totallympiring him about I know, no, I know,
- 29:40Speaker 1: I know. But then you know, of course yesterday morning
- 29:42Speaker 1: like his dripe. Look what we did is drip? Yeah
- 29:46Speaker 1: you have never heard of that? No, I have not
- 29:48Speaker 1: your clothes. I was just I wish Megan was you
- 29:50Speaker 1: right now? Can we ask the Olds to leave the studio? Drip?
- 29:57Speaker 1: But you know, you get on social media yesterday morning
- 29:59Speaker 1: and that it's like trending Jackson Mahomes and like no,
- 30:02Speaker 1: oh yeah, don't look and don't look like, don't do it.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I want it. I don't want to like. And I
- 30:08Speaker 1: know I've asked this question before. How do I avoid
- 30:11Speaker 1: the Jackson Mahomes stuff that everybody else see me is
- 30:14Speaker 1: not only inundated with but bothered to know, like I
- 30:18Speaker 1: guess than knows you. They listen to you like I did.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I did see the obnoxious fiances or she's white now right,
- 30:26Speaker 1: I think they married. I did see. I did see
- 30:30Speaker 1: her like spring and all over the crowd, which if
- 30:33Speaker 1: I was in the crowd, I would have had or
- 30:35Speaker 1: arrest it through a beer at her um. But I
- 30:39Speaker 1: don't ever see the Jackson Mahomes stuff, which I mean,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I know he appears to be as annoying as everybody says,
- 30:46Speaker 1: but I never get that stuff in mind. I don't
- 30:49Speaker 1: know you guys do it. No, it's not even tick took.
- 30:51Speaker 1: It was just I just looked at the Twitter trending page,
- 30:53Speaker 1: you know, when he's on there. I don't know if
- 30:54Speaker 1: that's specifically geared to me. I'm not following him, I'm
- 30:56Speaker 1: not looking for but it's like that moment I'm like,
- 30:58Speaker 1: I can look and it will infuriate me, or I
- 31:01Speaker 1: can put it down. Just when you feel good about yourself,
- 31:04Speaker 1: I want to say, I want to I want to
- 31:05Speaker 1: stay ground. Did you see the apology that Jesson wants
- 31:07Speaker 1: how to put out because he was like dancing on
- 31:09Speaker 1: Sean Taylor's like memorial it's like that was like last year,
- 31:13Speaker 1: wasn't like earlier this year or whatever. Yeah, he's just
- 31:17Speaker 1: you know, but anyway, so what do you do? There's
- 31:18Speaker 1: just a lot doing no no this week, oh this week.
- 31:22Speaker 1: I luckily I avoided that. I think he was just
- 31:24Speaker 1: with her when she was well. I don't know why
- 31:27Speaker 1: what his commentary was, but so that that's my whole
- 31:29Speaker 1: Kansas City thing. That's that's it. You know. I get
- 31:33Speaker 1: his girlfriend and his brother I love, I don't. I
- 31:36Speaker 1: get that they're good, and I don't like them because
- 31:39Speaker 1: they're good, I expect how good. I loved watching the
- 31:45Speaker 1: Kansas City Bills game because whoever lost, I was happy
- 31:49Speaker 1: they lost, you know, so it was a definite hate
- 31:51Speaker 1: watch game. That's another one, just like how do you like?
- 31:55Speaker 1: I just don't know how do you go through? So
- 31:56Speaker 1: you must have. Really, I don't care who wins. I
- 31:58Speaker 1: only care that the team somebody. I'll just focus on
- 32:02Speaker 1: who loses. So I was like, last the Bengals win
- 32:07Speaker 1: has to really upset you. Then, um at yeah, I
- 32:10Speaker 1: mean I couldn't believe that, you know, two number one
- 32:13Speaker 1: seeds lost. Yeah, at the same time, yea, at the
- 32:16Speaker 1: same time. That was unbelievable, just like that. I mean
- 32:20Speaker 1: times since two thousan ten, I believe, Yeah, was that
- 32:26Speaker 1: the page? I mean, and I chuck up Atlanta, I
- 32:30Speaker 1: chuck up the Titans. Uh to Tannehill being Tannehill. He
- 32:34Speaker 1: was terrible, Yeah, he was, he was. That was why
- 32:37Speaker 1: they lost. And and a little bit if Derrick Henry
- 32:40Speaker 1: not for that the past that borrowed through to the
- 32:44Speaker 1: back that went right off his hands and got picked,
- 32:46Speaker 1: if not for that, I think Cincinnati would have won
- 32:48Speaker 1: that game going away. Yeah. Yeah, because even with the
- 32:50Speaker 1: nine sacks, I thought they moved the ball well enough
- 32:53Speaker 1: to score points and they were in control when that
- 32:55Speaker 1: play happened. Yeah. I also thought Vrabel had a tough game.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I don't really understand the two point can version. Why
- 33:02Speaker 1: why are you doing at that point? You know, I
- 33:05Speaker 1: love I love me some raybel but I just don't
- 33:07Speaker 1: really feel like it's a huge balls on the table.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Well no, they I mean they had he did that.
- 33:13Speaker 1: That was the analytic thing. I mean, like you get
- 33:15Speaker 1: a yard and it increases your odds of getting it.
- 33:18Speaker 1: But I don't point. Yeah, I just look at it
- 33:21Speaker 1: as is there a discernible difference between being up seven
- 33:25Speaker 1: six and eight six. I don't think there is now.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I know that, you know, you're another touchdown and you're
- 33:30Speaker 1: up nine instead of you know, but I just I
- 33:33Speaker 1: don't really see the risk reward. Again. It's like I'm
- 33:37Speaker 1: gonna have a zero cover blitz to what end they're on?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Like where were they like on their own forty the
- 33:45Speaker 1: rams for the last one, they clearly didn't have a
- 33:48Speaker 1: huge range and field goal kicking they had they come
- 33:50Speaker 1: up short on a forty seven yard or earlier. Yeah, Like,
- 33:53Speaker 1: what's the risk reward? The risk is exactly what happened.
- 33:57Speaker 1: A pitch and catch, by the way, nothing nothing out
- 34:00Speaker 1: of you ordinary a great throw in, a great catch
- 34:02Speaker 1: to a guy who was open and a guy who
- 34:04Speaker 1: had time to throw it. So if you get there,
- 34:08Speaker 1: maybe you sack them. You're going you're going over time anyway. Yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 1: Like what is the what is the reward? YEA, Yeah,
- 34:15Speaker 1: I didn't get it, and I don't get the reward
- 34:16Speaker 1: of the two point conversion. There's another thing that kind
- 34:19Speaker 1: of popped up with analytics that I came across the
- 34:21Speaker 1: last few days that I never really had thought about.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It is the player's perspective on it and so I
- 34:25Speaker 1: think of that. You know, going for two, you can
- 34:28Speaker 1: debate it, but I also think there's something to say.
- 34:30Speaker 1: When you just kick the field goal, you got seven,
- 34:32Speaker 1: you move on. But when you miss it or you know,
- 34:35Speaker 1: you end up with six points in stet of seven,
- 34:36Speaker 1: how does your team react? Like, how does your team feel?
- 34:38Speaker 1: Why are we dicking around with this? Can we just like,
- 34:40Speaker 1: I don't know how much the players are on this analytics.
- 34:43Speaker 1: They don't care what are we doing? Why are we
- 34:47Speaker 1: got six points and set of seven? Like I just
- 34:49Speaker 1: I wonder if there's a segment of players that are,
- 34:51Speaker 1: you know, not on board with the analytics. And you know,
- 34:53Speaker 1: we always just talk about it as the coaches and
- 34:55Speaker 1: the right decision, but I think how your team reacts
- 34:57Speaker 1: to those decisions, especially when they don't work. You know,
- 35:00Speaker 1: maybe a guy like um, you know, like Brandon Staley,
- 35:03Speaker 1: where it's like, it's what I'm doing, guys, this is
- 35:05Speaker 1: what we're doing for better or worse. I'm going forward
- 35:07Speaker 1: every time. And I almost respect that a huge huge
- 35:10Speaker 1: voter conference from the GM, so did he so you know,
- 35:14Speaker 1: at least he's unapologetic about But I think when you're
- 35:16Speaker 1: picking your spots it's like you just want to keep
- 35:19Speaker 1: your team on the same page of you know what
- 35:21Speaker 1: we're trying to accomplish here, and you know what our
- 35:23Speaker 1: philosophy is attacking this game. I just think that the
- 35:26Speaker 1: the I think the bottom line is there needs to
- 35:30Speaker 1: be a little bit more nuanced. I don't care if
- 35:33Speaker 1: you like. For example, later in that game, the Titans
- 35:37Speaker 1: went for a fourth and one. Yeah, I think that
- 35:39Speaker 1: was a great idea. I think it was a fifty
- 35:42Speaker 1: two yard field goal. Yeah, they got stopped. Um, they
- 35:47Speaker 1: had a third and one. Tannehill tried his own read
- 35:50Speaker 1: and they sniffed it out, made it fourth and one.
- 35:51Speaker 1: They ran Henry and they stopped it. Yeah. But I
- 35:54Speaker 1: think that that was a better way to try to
- 35:56Speaker 1: win that game than kicking your fifty two yard field goal. Um.
- 36:00Speaker 1: But at the same time, it doesn't mean that I
- 36:02Speaker 1: always think you should go for fourth and one, And
- 36:05Speaker 1: that's what I think some of these guys do. Like
- 36:07Speaker 1: what and one? It says I'm going to get it
- 36:08Speaker 1: seventy three percent of the time, and it never accounts
- 36:11Speaker 1: for it in context. It never accounts for you know,
- 36:14Speaker 1: for the twenty seven percent of the time that I
- 36:16Speaker 1: miss it. And then what happens, like is the game over.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Like the only way that they could lose that game
- 36:23Speaker 1: in regulation the other day is what Tannehill did throwing
- 36:27Speaker 1: a pick on third down. You know, like that, that's
- 36:31Speaker 1: like the sort of the risk reward thing there. We
- 36:33Speaker 1: talked a lot about, you know, the reb rebuild, the rebuild. Um,
- 36:36Speaker 1: do you think Tennessee is a cautionary tale for Patriots
- 36:40Speaker 1: because they are a team that went out, got a J. Brown,
- 36:43Speaker 1: You added Julio, You've obviously got Derreck Henry, You've got
- 36:46Speaker 1: the weapon pieces, but it comes down to the quarterback,
- 36:50Speaker 1: you know, And I well, I'm saying that they wouldn't
- 36:53Speaker 1: we kill to have a J. Brown? And I think
- 36:55Speaker 1: that's an offense They're completely predicated on Derek Henry. Well,
- 36:59Speaker 1: he breaks his foot, he's olf a half the year
- 37:01Speaker 1: right right, what you see is what you get. He
- 37:03Speaker 1: was nothing the other day he was he wasn't a fact.
- 37:05Speaker 1: But by the same token, I would say that the
- 37:07Speaker 1: Patriots offense is based on their run game. It's not Derek.
- 37:10Speaker 1: But I think people anyone thinks like, hey, let's get
- 37:13Speaker 1: a cut, let's get a J. Brown on this team,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and then you know, we're cooking with gas. So I
- 37:17Speaker 1: think that, you know, it's got to go hand in
- 37:19Speaker 1: hand with with Max development as well. And I don't
- 37:21Speaker 1: ever expect him to be that mobile kind of quarterback,
- 37:24Speaker 1: but you know, I think there's a lot that he
- 37:26Speaker 1: needs to be able to do, even if you get
- 37:28Speaker 1: him these weapons which you know talking about, you know
- 37:30Speaker 1: before we turn it over to the listeners. Um, you know,
- 37:34Speaker 1: in terms of coaching, movement and all that stuff, we
- 37:39Speaker 1: are hearing that Raiders are interested in Josh McDaniels, although
- 37:44Speaker 1: I don't know if they've with Ziegler. Yes, yeah, and
- 37:47Speaker 1: Ziegler right, But I think it would be a combination, combination,
- 37:51Speaker 1: but I don't know if they've actually asked permission. They've
- 37:54Speaker 1: not yet asked permission. I think it comes down to
- 37:56Speaker 1: if they give the job to Ziegler, then I think
- 38:00Speaker 1: that's kind of weird, don't you think, Well, that's what
- 38:03Speaker 1: they on the reason you'd like Josh as if no,
- 38:06Speaker 1: I'm saying like they interviewed the GM position first, right,
- 38:09Speaker 1: That's what I think has happened, and they're going to
- 38:11Speaker 1: allow GM to make the call, right. I don't know
- 38:14Speaker 1: that to be sure. I just saw the same stuff
- 38:17Speaker 1: that you did about I think it was Schefter that
- 38:19Speaker 1: said that that could be a package deal. Yeah. Florio
- 38:22Speaker 1: I think has been on that too, So Ziegler and
- 38:24Speaker 1: Elliott Wolf a kind of in play there. Yeah. But
- 38:28Speaker 1: other than that, well, there's one other piece of news
- 38:30Speaker 1: that Uh Mayo, who had interviewed with Denver, is now
- 38:33Speaker 1: apparently not a finalist. There are three finalists. He's not
- 38:36Speaker 1: one of them, right, but Elliott Wolf is supposedly a
- 38:39Speaker 1: finalist where Chicago Minnesota and Chicago is Yeah, I don't
- 38:44Speaker 1: know which of those two though they were having him
- 38:47Speaker 1: back for another talk, I believe I think Chicago. Wow,
- 38:50Speaker 1: that's quick. Yeah, well, yeah, there's I think there's still
- 38:54Speaker 1: eight eight there are There have been no Highers. They
- 38:57Speaker 1: lost on the coach and Ziegler, right, that's those are
- 39:01Speaker 1: you know, some pretty big blows to the Josh and
- 39:03Speaker 1: if Josh would be a huge loss. Yeah, I mean
- 39:07Speaker 1: that those three guys, especially when people you know, some
- 39:10Speaker 1: of the write ends of Hey, pretty solid draft last year.
- 39:14Speaker 1: What why you know some new pieces wolf Bill Belichick
- 39:18Speaker 1: obviously will still be here, but more collaborative. Do you
- 39:21Speaker 1: think there's any whatever that the crafts would say I
- 39:25Speaker 1: have an idea. Okay, let's go and get two guys
- 39:27Speaker 1: from Nick Sabin school I like him, and then get
- 39:31Speaker 1: two guys from Lincoln Riley School because I like him. Well,
- 39:34Speaker 1: what if we'll be more collaborative about it. Do you
- 39:36Speaker 1: think there's any chance that the crafts, you know, look
- 39:39Speaker 1: over on the available coaches that are out there head
- 39:43Speaker 1: coaches and say, you know, so and so is a
- 39:45Speaker 1: guy that we really want and we don't want to
- 39:48Speaker 1: let him get away. But Bill's not going anywhere. So
- 39:51Speaker 1: let's just say it's Brian Dable. They make an agreement.
- 39:55Speaker 1: You come in as our offensive coordinator with the understanding
- 39:58Speaker 1: that you're going to be the head coach when Bill leaves.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Do you think that's like even possible? I mean, it
- 40:05Speaker 1: could be, but it might not be. You know, it's
- 40:07Speaker 1: a craft decision, it's not I don't I think would
- 40:10Speaker 1: want to strike. And I also why wouldn't Dable stay
- 40:13Speaker 1: where he is? Because if he doesn't know he's going
- 40:16Speaker 1: to be the head coach in Buffalo but yeah, no
- 40:18Speaker 1: one he's gonna be the head coach and the Patriots,
- 40:20Speaker 1: but they would be a head coach right now if
- 40:22Speaker 1: he wants to. I know, but they would say most
- 40:24Speaker 1: like yeah, you know, they would say, you're gant We're
- 40:26Speaker 1: guaranteeing you this spot when Bill leaves. Yeah, but why
- 40:29Speaker 1: would you want that? I don't like I like that.
- 40:32Speaker 1: You could argue that's one of the worst jobs you
- 40:34Speaker 1: could have, ye be replacing Bill Belichick. No, No, it's
- 40:37Speaker 1: it's fair enough. I mean, that's gonna be tough for anybody.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Somebody's got to do, somebody will have to do, you know.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I could see them going to Josh and saying, I
- 40:45Speaker 1: know you, you know you're you're gonna but he's going
- 40:48Speaker 1: to be gone in two years and then the job
- 40:50Speaker 1: will be yours. I could see five years. I don't
- 40:54Speaker 1: think they'll do that. Yeah, I don't think they'll do that,
- 40:56Speaker 1: But I could see Josh maybe saying, I like it here.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I'm already here. I don't know why someone would come
- 41:01Speaker 1: here right for the promise of replacing Belichick down the road. Yeah,
- 41:05Speaker 1: And that's my completely uninformed speculative take that Josh Musanias
- 41:08Speaker 1: will not go to the Raiders just because I we're
- 41:11Speaker 1: of similar age. We have kids of similar age as well.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I would never in a millionaires move my kids and
- 41:16Speaker 1: my family to Vegas right now. They're literally there's nowhere
- 41:19Speaker 1: else I would want to live least than there. Um
- 41:21Speaker 1: why right now? But because of where my kid like that,
- 41:24Speaker 1: like sending my kids to high school in Vegas, like
- 41:27Speaker 1: because they're the age of the kids. They don't you know,
- 41:30Speaker 1: where you're at, don't really have youth hockey there then
- 41:32Speaker 1: hockey they got you stripping though, But no, I just
- 41:41Speaker 1: I visited there. We have family that lived there. Nice
- 41:45Speaker 1: place to visit. Party. I can't imagine living there trying
- 41:49Speaker 1: to raise children there. They have like black widows and
- 41:51Speaker 1: Tarantula's rights. Yeah, desert, it's a desert environment, that's what
- 41:55Speaker 1: that's what he comes tarantula. Josh, Josh, you gonna take that.
- 42:00Speaker 1: My aunt lived out there and she was like, you know,
- 42:02Speaker 1: in the morning, you have to check your shoes because
- 42:04Speaker 1: they like to go in there. And yeah, no, financial
- 42:07Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm good because they're not they're not like, oh,
- 42:09Speaker 1: I mean I like Derek makes my shoes. It's not
- 42:13Speaker 1: for me having the interview. You make a great offer,
- 42:17Speaker 1: Mark Davids, But the tarantula is just I can't overcome
- 42:20Speaker 1: that shoes. Yeah, we'll get your little covers for your shoes.
- 42:24Speaker 1: It is amazing. No, they have to have all this
- 42:27Speaker 1: stuff going on, oh never never never arrest especially this
- 42:31Speaker 1: time you were. It's like crazy games. But also just
- 42:33Speaker 1: all this potential movement. Is it me though, or does
- 42:36Speaker 1: it seem like it's taking all the teams who have
- 42:39Speaker 1: vacancies a long time to make hires this year? Well,
- 42:42Speaker 1: I think it's two things. Well, they might be waiting
- 42:44Speaker 1: for the other teams. One, I think it's the season
- 42:46Speaker 1: got extended, you know, so you are you are like
- 42:49Speaker 1: a week behind. But I also think that teams might
- 42:52Speaker 1: be finally doing the Fred Paul thing like, don't just
- 42:55Speaker 1: rush to find them the first guy WI every winks
- 42:59Speaker 1: right right, you know, do a do an exhaustive search.
- 43:02Speaker 1: And I think that, you know, as an ancillary thing, um,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know, the climate I think is also playing a role.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I think teams are also going to be very vigilant
- 43:12Speaker 1: and m make sure that they get minority hires and
- 43:16Speaker 1: minority interviews. Um, it's a huge spotlight right now around
- 43:20Speaker 1: the league that there's only Mike Tomlin is the only
- 43:22Speaker 1: blackhead coach left right yea, So I think a lot
- 43:26Speaker 1: of teams are going to be hesitant to just run
- 43:27Speaker 1: out and do something quick and then therefore get yourself,
- 43:31Speaker 1: you know, caught up in I'm not complaining about it.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I'm just saying, no, I think it's I think it's smart, Fred,
- 43:36Speaker 1: and I have said this forever, like why do you
- 43:38Speaker 1: have to feel compelled to hire a guy while the
- 43:41Speaker 1: guy that might be the best candidate is still coaching?
- 43:44Speaker 1: And I think I think I've said this before too,
- 43:47Speaker 1: And I wish that there would be a rule kind
- 43:49Speaker 1: of like free agency. You know, there's a start date
- 43:52Speaker 1: to free agency, so you and you even have like
- 43:54Speaker 1: the three days of the you know, legal tampering, fine,
- 43:58Speaker 1: but there's an actual start time to free agency. There
- 44:01Speaker 1: should be a start time to head coach and GM hiring,
- 44:04Speaker 1: and that should be as soon as the Super Bowl ends,
- 44:07Speaker 1: like at that point, Okay, now you can start your
- 44:10Speaker 1: interviews and do it like make it fair for all
- 44:12Speaker 1: thirty two teams. Well, I I hear what you're saying,
- 44:14Speaker 1: but like the teams that for most of the time,
- 44:17Speaker 1: the teams that are looking for coaches are bad teams. Sure,
- 44:20Speaker 1: I'm all forgiving them as much a head start as possible,
- 44:23Speaker 1: you know, I want, you know, like as the commissioner.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I want all my teams to be good, you know,
- 44:29Speaker 1: so if I can elevate bad teams because they identified
- 44:32Speaker 1: a guy that they think is great and they want
- 44:34Speaker 1: to hire them right away, get a head start the season,
- 44:36Speaker 1: let them do it, Let him do it. I hear
- 44:39Speaker 1: that point too. I don't know, I just feel like
- 44:41Speaker 1: it should. It feels like the NFL likes to have like,
- 44:47Speaker 1: um specific seasons, like specific things like February is combined
- 44:52Speaker 1: mind right, Also like like the Draft is in April,
- 44:56Speaker 1: the schedule comes out in May, you got your mini
- 44:58Speaker 1: camps in jar should be super Bowl then coaching coaching
- 45:01Speaker 1: and yeah, exactly, Yeah, I like that point too. Yeah,
- 45:06Speaker 1: I think I think they should sometimes. I think they
- 45:09Speaker 1: should at least put some sort of if you don't
- 45:11Speaker 1: want to wait all the way to the end of
- 45:12Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, I think there should be at least
- 45:13Speaker 1: some grace period where there's no interviewing. Um. But it's
- 45:18Speaker 1: never gonna happen, so, I mean, because I also think
- 45:20Speaker 1: it's unfair, Like you know, day Ball, you mentioned his name.
- 45:22Speaker 1: He's a guy that, like, up until this past weekend,
- 45:25Speaker 1: was still like focused on putting a game plan together
- 45:28Speaker 1: in a job like, how can you focus on having
- 45:29Speaker 1: an interview and thinking like, oh, my life's about to change.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna become a huge millionaire and I'm gonna have
- 45:35Speaker 1: my own team, and oh, but I also have to
- 45:37Speaker 1: help my team win here. And maybe that's that's where
- 45:39Speaker 1: your agent comes in and says to the team and
- 45:42Speaker 1: you can't avoid, but you can't avoid he's interested. Just
- 45:45Speaker 1: hold on, right, which is why I think that the
- 45:47Speaker 1: league should say to all the teams, hold on, wait
- 45:50Speaker 1: till the Super Bowl ends, then do while you're interviewing
- 45:52Speaker 1: and hiring. Yeah, but that doesn't stop that problem because
- 45:57Speaker 1: like Brian Dable, whether you're able to interview him or not,
- 46:00Speaker 1: is still thinking about the possibilities of being He might
- 46:03Speaker 1: be thinking about it, but like if he has an
- 46:04Speaker 1: interview scheduled, that takes that's time being taken away from
- 46:08Speaker 1: the current job that he has. You know, I just
- 46:11Speaker 1: think there's something to be said for I'll be having
- 46:15Speaker 1: it having that period start for everybody, just like free agency,
- 46:19Speaker 1: just like the draft. Yeah, I mean, I'd be curious
- 46:22Speaker 1: after set out if there was more focus on offensive
- 46:26Speaker 1: coaches than defensive coaches. You know, I just a lot
- 46:29Speaker 1: of these offenses. Are these you know guys obviously dable,
- 46:31Speaker 1: he's developed a quarterback and coming off this weekend, it's
- 46:34Speaker 1: all anyone wants to talk about, is you know, having
- 46:36Speaker 1: that quarterback that you know that that can play that
- 46:39Speaker 1: way and you know it's it's not not not to
- 46:42Speaker 1: you know, compare him to Draw Mayo. But just as
- 46:44Speaker 1: you know, a defensive coach example, it's you know, it's
- 46:47Speaker 1: you at least as an owner might look at that
- 46:49Speaker 1: and say, this guy's gonna get us on the track
- 46:51Speaker 1: to winning offensively. Then defense, even if he puts together
- 46:54Speaker 1: the best defense in the whole league, we still have
- 46:56Speaker 1: to face you know, I don't know. I just I
- 47:00Speaker 1: wonder if this is going to carry over in And
- 47:01Speaker 1: ideally they wouldn't worry about either one of those things.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Ideally that you just one guy who you're looking for,
- 47:07Speaker 1: a guy who can command, yes, the presence, can you
- 47:10Speaker 1: be a leader? Can you run my organization? And that's
- 47:13Speaker 1: the thing, Paul, I mean, forget about the XS and os.
- 47:16Speaker 1: We assume that anyone that's risen to that level knows football.
- 47:19Speaker 1: It's what do you do at three in the morning
- 47:21Speaker 1: when the guy gets arrested? What do you you know,
- 47:23Speaker 1: how do you how do you form your organization? How
- 47:26Speaker 1: are you gonna you know, build up your personnel department.
- 47:30Speaker 1: It's all the other, all of those things, all the other.
- 47:32Speaker 1: You know, how do you get up in front of
- 47:34Speaker 1: your team and do you have their ear? Like are
- 47:38Speaker 1: they on board? Are they following you? Yeah? And I
- 47:41Speaker 1: think that too many of these guys are not ready
- 47:44Speaker 1: for that. Now, Like to Mike's point, like you have
- 47:47Speaker 1: some good young offensive you know Sean McVay and you
- 47:50Speaker 1: know Shanahan. I think that good young offensive minds maybe
- 47:53Speaker 1: lafleur in Zach Taylor are like that, But I don't
- 47:58Speaker 1: know how well they do all of those things. Yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Now it certainly looks like McVeigh has an idea. I
- 48:03Speaker 1: mean he's been pretty successful. Yeah. Now, he also has
- 48:06Speaker 1: a lot of talent at his disposal. And it's not sure.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean they've they've sold out, they're they're winning, and
- 48:11Speaker 1: it's worked. I mean it worked. I mean, you can't
- 48:13Speaker 1: argue with how they built their team. They've they've been
- 48:15Speaker 1: a perennial playoff team. They win in the playoffs consistently,
- 48:19Speaker 1: They've been to a Super Bowl, they were a game
- 48:21Speaker 1: away from another one. Now, maybe they'll ultimately fall short
- 48:23Speaker 1: and never win one, but it's not because of the
- 48:25Speaker 1: way they built a team. Yeah, you know what I mean,
- 48:28Speaker 1: they've had success. I wonder how many coaches are like
- 48:31Speaker 1: McVeagh where heavily offensive focused and not really that involved
- 48:36Speaker 1: in the defense, or how much are they involved in
- 48:37Speaker 1: the defense. You know, it's just he's had he's had
- 48:40Speaker 1: in those defensive coaches. Um, he had Wade Phillips, he
- 48:44Speaker 1: had Brennan Staley, and now he's got Raheem Morris. I
- 48:47Speaker 1: think right, Um, and they've all done a really good job.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I think that's smart on his on his part, like,
- 48:52Speaker 1: don't try to be something, don't you know, don't hire
- 48:55Speaker 1: some college buddy to run your defense if you don't
- 48:58Speaker 1: think he's ready. You have to hire a guy who's
- 48:59Speaker 1: been aroun a little bit, and you know that's not
- 49:02Speaker 1: your Yeah, right, you know. Wade Phillips was a head coach,
- 49:04Speaker 1: a veteran guy. Raheem Morris spent some time as a
- 49:08Speaker 1: head coach in Tampa. He's been around, and Staley was
- 49:11Speaker 1: obviously highly thought enough after being his coordinator to get
- 49:15Speaker 1: a head coaching job. It's funny about Raheem Morris. I
- 49:18Speaker 1: was just hearing they were talking about him this weekend
- 49:20Speaker 1: on one of the talking head shows that might have
- 49:23Speaker 1: been Countdown or whatever, and whoever was doing the talking
- 49:28Speaker 1: about him said that they had talked to Raheem Morris,
- 49:30Speaker 1: and he admitted that when he had got the Tampa job,
- 49:33Speaker 1: obviously he took it because you know, it's a great opportunity,
- 49:36Speaker 1: but he was so young and experienced as far as
- 49:38Speaker 1: being in charge of an organization that he looks back
- 49:42Speaker 1: on it and thinks, like, oh man, so many mistakes.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I made, so many things I could have done so
- 49:47Speaker 1: much better. And like, I think that's a cautionary tale
- 49:50Speaker 1: to any of these teams that just think, well, I
- 49:52Speaker 1: want to get the next shot, hot shot young guy,
- 49:54Speaker 1: and like, okay, he may be a hot shot on offense,
- 49:57Speaker 1: but does he know all these other things that we
- 49:59Speaker 1: were just talking to out because those are important, you know,
- 50:02Speaker 1: Like if you're a hot shot twenty nine year old
- 50:05Speaker 1: coach and you know of the raiders and you get
- 50:08Speaker 1: a phone call it like you said at three in
- 50:09Speaker 1: the morning, and they said, um, yeah, your star wide
- 50:11Speaker 1: receiver just committed a real bad thing. What are you
- 50:15Speaker 1: gonna do how do you deal with how do you
- 50:16Speaker 1: deal with that? Right? Yeah? Yeah? And and Hardbaugh probably
- 50:19Speaker 1: the other example of a special teams coach who you
- 50:22Speaker 1: know certainly has had good coordinators. Has you know what
- 50:25Speaker 1: they've done with Lamar Jackson, whether you believe in it
- 50:27Speaker 1: or not. I mean, at least he you know, is
- 50:29Speaker 1: able to oversee it and make a significant shift while
- 50:32Speaker 1: you know, still being the head figure. It's still a
- 50:35Speaker 1: little bit of a throwback, like like Bill is all right,
- 50:38Speaker 1: M eight five five, pats five hundred. It's the a
- 50:40Speaker 1: stick at hut Line web radio at Patriots dot com
- 50:43Speaker 1: is the email address. Let's uh hear what the listeners
- 50:46Speaker 1: have to say? Reno and Tennessee has been holding on?
- 50:49Speaker 1: What's up? Reno? Hey, hey talking to the phone? What's
- 50:54Speaker 1: that girl? Uh, you're a little muffled. What's going on? Okay?
- 51:03Speaker 1: Probably do something talking to Charlie Brown's parents. Can hear
- 51:07Speaker 1: me better? Now? Much better? Yeah? Okay, Hey guys, um,
- 51:11Speaker 1: I have a few comments and then maybe an argument.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Maybe let's see how you guys feel about what my
- 51:17Speaker 1: opinion is. Just for him. The first off by saying
- 51:20Speaker 1: tomorrow's my birthday. I would love a shout out just
- 51:22Speaker 1: so I could show my brother. Okay, shout out to
- 51:24Speaker 1: Reno birthday. All right, Yeah, and a couple of comment Uh. Actually,
- 51:30Speaker 1: I'll start off with the my opinion that may start
- 51:33Speaker 1: an argument. Uh, I know. I I preface this by
- 51:38Speaker 1: Will saying I think Aaron Rodgers is one of the
- 51:40Speaker 1: greatest quarterbacks of all times. I just hate him as
- 51:43Speaker 1: a person, at least who he is to the media. Uh,
- 51:47Speaker 1: he's elite. But can we finally say that he's not
- 51:49Speaker 1: clutched enough in the playoffs? I mean evidence would say that. Yeah.
- 51:53Speaker 1: I think that's Yeah, I think that's a widely held belief. Yeah, yep, Okay,
- 51:58Speaker 1: So like I'm not being dumb or I just thought
- 52:01Speaker 1: maybe it's because I was being spoiled by having Brady
- 52:03Speaker 1: noms all my life. You're right, he I think talent wise,
- 52:07Speaker 1: he's unbelievable. He's off the charts many so why has
- 52:10Speaker 1: anyone first? Yeah, and the stat against San Francisco is
- 52:16Speaker 1: amazing too. Over four against San Franco in the playoffs, right, right,
- 52:20Speaker 1: It's not like San Francisco came in. It's such a
- 52:22Speaker 1: good team. I know, well this one, but he has
- 52:25Speaker 1: Oh the losses have been in San Francisco. San Francisco
- 52:28Speaker 1: was a better team. Yeah, okay, so no argument there
- 52:32Speaker 1: arena okay. And the other comment about the overtime you
- 52:37Speaker 1: guys talked about it in the beginning. Isn't like, I know,
- 52:41Speaker 1: people want to change the roles, but isn't football offense
- 52:45Speaker 1: and defense? Forard Are Isn't the defense supposed to stop
- 52:48Speaker 1: him no matter who gets the kick off? Yeah? How
- 52:50Speaker 1: did Kansas Cities do? I mean? That's I mean, I
- 52:53Speaker 1: get that they're both defense has played lazy, it's really bad.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And but yeah, I mean a man that can stop them,
- 53:02Speaker 1: you know, that's the artist. Yeah, I mean, I don't
- 53:04Speaker 1: think anybody. I don't think even the most Art and
- 53:06Speaker 1: Chiefs fan would say if they had lost the coin
- 53:08Speaker 1: toss that the outcome would have been yeah, the same. Yeah,
- 53:11Speaker 1: So I think I think Paul, I think the coin
- 53:13Speaker 1: toss winner was going to win that game. Yeah. I
- 53:15Speaker 1: think that's the point I think Paul's making is each
- 53:17Speaker 1: both defenses were equally bad, but then the coin floss
- 53:21Speaker 1: toss becomes such a factor. You know, but what's the
- 53:25Speaker 1: pointy continuing on the game, If no matter who gets
- 53:29Speaker 1: the coin becomes a game of attrition. Right, Well, well
- 53:32Speaker 1: if somebody makes a mistake, maybe maybe someone scores with
- 53:35Speaker 1: thirteen seconds left and doesn't allow the other team to
- 53:37Speaker 1: score in that thirteen seconds and they win because there's
- 53:40Speaker 1: a time. That's true. There's a time eliment, right, it's
- 53:43Speaker 1: horrible defense and thirteen seconds that's true. Right? Yeah, all right, Rino,
- 53:47Speaker 1: thanks for the call. Uh, let's go to Brian in Indiana. Hey, Brian,
- 53:51Speaker 1: some shots at Buffalo there? What's up? Brian? Very deuced
- 53:54Speaker 1: like hello? Whatever? Ban? All right, great weekend and football. Uh.
- 54:03Speaker 1: I was with Duce with the hate watching. I hate
- 54:06Speaker 1: watching two games Green Bay saying Fran and then Casey.
- 54:10Speaker 1: I hate Kansas City, but I hate them because they're good. Yeah,
- 54:14Speaker 1: but Duce hated both teams equal. Yeah, that's the difference.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You can take my Patriot Nation card if you want to.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I've been rooting for Buffalo since they came in and
- 54:25Speaker 1: passed us in that last game. At some point you
- 54:28Speaker 1: have to give it up. I mean, what's the harm
- 54:32Speaker 1: we've been you know, it's a legend. Have we been
- 54:36Speaker 1: beating these guys for twenty years? It's the harm and
- 54:39Speaker 1: then winning now, you know? So I've been openly rooting
- 54:43Speaker 1: for Buffalo. And I know Fred ain't gonna like this,
- 54:46Speaker 1: but since Snagi two and I and I can't. I
- 54:50Speaker 1: can't wait to listen to Paul Station today, Paul Show.
- 54:56Speaker 1: I can't wait to hear grab Bagdar twist itself in
- 54:59Speaker 1: the pretzel about how Josh Allen messed this game up.
- 55:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you. I'm gonna give you my prediction, Brian,
- 55:05Speaker 1: because I talked about this was my brother, You're gonna
- 55:07Speaker 1: come up with something. Part. Yeah, there's gonna be two things.
- 55:09Speaker 1: He's gonna say. Number one, he's gonna say he didn't
- 55:13Speaker 1: win the game. He didn't win the game. Yeah, yeah,
- 55:17Speaker 1: I mean, and you know what, you can't argue with that.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I mean, if that, if that, if he want to
- 55:23Speaker 1: make it that simplistic, then no argument. And then he didn't.
- 55:28Speaker 1: The other part is he's gonna he's gonna rail against
- 55:31Speaker 1: how bad Kansas City's defense played and they made it easy.
- 55:34Speaker 1: I mean, well, that's one of them games I watched enough.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I ain't y'all, I'm not a dog. I don't break
- 55:39Speaker 1: down film have y'all have a greater knowledge of that
- 55:44Speaker 1: game than I ever have. Because y'all have been close
- 55:46Speaker 1: to it for so long. That's one of them games.
- 55:49Speaker 1: It looked to me like you could have transferred one
- 55:53Speaker 1: of them defenses and put the eighty five Bears out.
- 55:55Speaker 1: There was nothing gonna change. That's that was just a
- 55:58Speaker 1: track meet and the that's one of them. As y'all say,
- 56:02Speaker 1: the game declared himself and he got to the point
- 56:04Speaker 1: where no defense was going to stop anybody. That's that's
- 56:08Speaker 1: the way. That's certainly the way the game ended in
- 56:11Speaker 1: that last two minutes. I actually thought there was periods
- 56:13Speaker 1: of time in the second and quarter that both defenses
- 56:17Speaker 1: did a I mean, you do realize that fourth and
- 56:19Speaker 1: thirteen play that takes place with one fifty four left.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Let's just say for argument's sake, Josh Allen overthrows him
- 56:27Speaker 1: and it's incomplete or stumbles, because that game ends twenty
- 56:29Speaker 1: six twenty one, right right right right right, like you know,
- 56:33Speaker 1: everything that happened from that playoff made two to thirty six,
- 56:38Speaker 1: right like it would have ended twenty six twenty one,
- 56:40Speaker 1: and you would have been like, I actually, you know
- 56:43Speaker 1: like that. The offenses were good, but the defenses made
- 56:45Speaker 1: some Yes, I mean I thought Kansas City did get pressure.
- 56:48Speaker 1: They did. Oh, they both teams had pressure on the
- 56:51Speaker 1: quarterback the whole game, but they until the last thirteen
- 56:53Speaker 1: seconds Buffalo just to side. And that's where like, like
- 56:56Speaker 1: I know, like you know, the eighty five Bears were
- 57:00Speaker 1: type of defense than you're seeing today, but they could
- 57:03Speaker 1: get pressure on a quarterback. And then now they look
- 57:05Speaker 1: at even the Ravens of two thousand. I mean, with
- 57:09Speaker 1: ray Lewis in this, like, I've never seen a more
- 57:12Speaker 1: sure tackling team than that. They never missed a tackle.
- 57:16Speaker 1: I think they would have had, you know, some success.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Maybe it's funny you bring that up, Paul, about that
- 57:25Speaker 1: fourth and thirteen play, because when it was happening live,
- 57:28Speaker 1: my heart almost went in my throat because he kind
- 57:30Speaker 1: of stumbled in the back of the ends on the
- 57:32Speaker 1: way he was twisting to make the catch, and I thought,
- 57:35Speaker 1: oh my god, is he gonna be Is he gonna
- 57:36Speaker 1: drop this after getting so wide open? Right, and he
- 57:39Speaker 1: kind of kept his feet in bounds, But I was like,
- 57:41Speaker 1: to end it that way would have been just tragic.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I was already thinking, Okay, so there's one fifty four left,
- 57:46Speaker 1: Buffalo still had all three timeouts. I was like, if
- 57:48Speaker 1: this is incomplete. They got to find a way to
- 57:50Speaker 1: get a three and out and then have one final chance.
- 57:53Speaker 1: That's the way I would because the fourth and thirteen,
- 57:55Speaker 1: Yeah right, I wasn't thinking they were going to convert that.
- 57:58Speaker 1: I just I just can't understand. And white defenses have
- 58:00Speaker 1: nothing left in playoff over time games like I just
- 58:03Speaker 1: I like, you know, Brady Atlanta, right down the field.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I'll tell you something. I mean the field because but
- 58:10Speaker 1: those big games, and I've heard like Ted Johnson and
- 58:13Speaker 1: other players say this, teams get so jacked up into
- 58:16Speaker 1: that game and they just they just spend all their
- 58:19Speaker 1: gas early. Then when I think, then you add in
- 58:22Speaker 1: like the conditions, like when it's really cold, your body's
- 58:25Speaker 1: working harder to keep yourself warm, and you're using more
- 58:29Speaker 1: energy than you normally would even if I mean though
- 58:32Speaker 1: those are probably science kind of related facts that that
- 58:35Speaker 1: I wouldn't argue with and certainly wouldn't argue with a
- 58:37Speaker 1: player who's been through it. I just think it's the
- 58:40Speaker 1: offenses are generally better than the defenses, and you're only
- 58:43Speaker 1: gonna hold them down so long. So the longer the
- 58:45Speaker 1: game goes, the advantage goes more and more to the
- 58:47Speaker 1: offense because they're better. And I think that's what happened
- 58:50Speaker 1: in that game, and it happens in a lot of games. Um.
- 58:52Speaker 1: But I also think do get warned, especially when you're
- 58:55Speaker 1: playing against Alan or Mahomes where you're running all over
- 58:58Speaker 1: the play, I think you get worn down. And I
- 58:59Speaker 1: also think that the depth on defense, I think that
- 59:02Speaker 1: there's a bigger gap because again, I think the offense
- 59:05Speaker 1: is better suited to overcome the loss of personnel because
- 59:08Speaker 1: they're better than I know. It didn't really show up
- 59:14Speaker 1: until this game, but Buffalo really missed Tradevious White in
- 59:17Speaker 1: that game. Yeah, you know, because they hadn't. They didn't
- 59:20Speaker 1: play any good quarterbacks down the stretch, you know, was
- 59:23Speaker 1: Zach Wilson, Matt Ryan, mac Jones, mac Jones, mac Jones.
- 59:28Speaker 1: They didn't play any good quarterbacks down the stretch. So
- 59:30Speaker 1: they didn't really get affected by losing their best player
- 59:34Speaker 1: on defense on Sunday. They were affected by it. Yeah,
- 59:37Speaker 1: Kansas City lost Matthew early. That was a huge loss
- 59:42Speaker 1: to Kansas City. And that's something your boy bring up,
- 59:44Speaker 1: probably something like that. But I'm gonna I'm almost I
- 59:50Speaker 1: almost want to listen just to hear him say, did
- 59:52Speaker 1: they win. Williams and Philliam, what's up? William? William fill
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: them up? Will will will yam will I am every
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: time with him. Well, it's you and Hardy, all right,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you and Hardy have a hard time getting the listeners.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: We'll go from Philadelphia to Baltimore. Rashad, what's up? Quick? Little?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: I wanted to say, I definitely enjoyed the games this weekend.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: But you gotta, I mean, you gotta love the Bills
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: like that you got. I don't. I do I love that.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I don't. Yeah, I don't like it. No, I don't.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Why you a Bills fan now? Eric? No, I just
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: like I'm I'm a fan of the game. Okay, I
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: like seeing I have to care. I do have to
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: admit with all the bad like the flat out bad
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: guys on Kansas City, I was kind of rooting for Buffalo. Yeah,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: how can you not? Like? You know, like that's it
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: was a very little impact on my dad. I didn't care,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: you know. I found I found joy in watching clenched
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: jaw McDermott on the sideline and then and then when
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: they thought they had won it with thirteen seconds, there
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: was this long haired guy that like jumped on the place.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: That guy was all over the broadcast was like the
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: hype man. All I could think about with Steve Bell
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: the whole time, and he was every time they showed
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: the Bill sideline, it was him. Yeah, he's like all
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: over and McDermott's like, you know, get off of I'm
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: gonna get I'm gonna make a prediction assistant special Teams.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: One question, I guess it was about coaching. Y'all talk
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: about Josh McDaniels, but if if he were to leave,
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: do you think uh day will go up to Bill
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: O'Brien maybe to come back. Oh, Bill O'Brien could be
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: the head coach of Jacksonville, right, aren't they interested in him?
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: He's got an interview something he's in. He's been making
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: the rounds. Yes, I don't know if he's going to
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: get a job, but yeah, yeah, I mean, and I
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: would be if he doesn't get a job, I would
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: definitely be interested in. I just hung off, like my answer, Well,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: that's that's what Eastcall and I were trying to figure
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: out yesterday, was how long the overlap was of Bill
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: O'Brien coming into Alabama and Mac Jones leading. It was like, yeah,
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: Mac taught him the offense. Yeah, yeah, Mac taught Bill
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: O'Brien the Alabama offense last offseason. I'm thinking Mac had
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: enough on his plate last offseason, like getting ready for
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: the draft. How did it? How did he teach Bill
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: O'Brien the offense? I didn't understand that, somebody wrote One
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: of our colleagues wrote that in one of their weekend columns.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I can't remember who Patty's an agawam. What's up, Patty? Patty? Patty? Oh? Todd,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: North Carolina, Todd, you're right, Hey, guys, you guys hit
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: my question for the day. I was trying to think
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: of what would be a good all right, all right,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: it was Bill with tires this year out of the blue.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: You have the opportunities to get any coach that's available
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: in the NFL, or any coach in the NFL period.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Who would you go after? Now? My answer was, originally
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: I was thinking John Harbaugh because I just like his
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: coaching style and how he does. But I think I
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: might want somebody younger, like maybe DeMott, somebody I mean McVeagh, McVeigh,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: not him. I would take McVeigh. Yeah, I like him. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: you want I think I'd want an offensive minded coach.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: That's what I would want, you know. And the last
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: question is who which coach currently in the league has
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: won more than two Super Bowls? Which coach in the
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: league currently has won as a head coach or just
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: a head coach? Cool? Tomlin's only one? Right? Or did
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: he have two? Does he have tooka had the first one? Okay?
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Is that just Bill as to think of? Just Bill?
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I think that's the answer, Bill, and not just really interesting. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: because I think it's hard to find really good coaches.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: And when you have it, even if you have a
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: really good coach, you need the really good quarterback. Or
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: you had the Patriots in blocking everyone right at that time,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I mean you had Tom Brady, the greatest players ever
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: played the game, when you won six titles? Yeah, I
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: got it, got you? Yeah? Yeah, much like when he
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: left all right, became a great head coach. Briefly, Tony's
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: in Yarmouth. What's up, Tony? I have a solution for
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: the overtime do away with the coin flip? Okay, whoever's
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: the last team that has the ball? And in this
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: weekend's game, with Kansas City winning on the last play
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: of the game, then they kick off if they have
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the ball at the end of over At the end
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: of regulation, one team has the ball, just continue on,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: give them some more time outs, but just continue on.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: That eliminates the coin flip. And then then in overtime
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: you have to you do the same rules. If somebody
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: scores a touchdown, it's over. Well, the thing about that,
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying. The thing about that, I know,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: but it completely changes the way games end because you know,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: now you're you're up against the clock in you know,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: if you know that, hey, I don't have to worry
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: about the clock at the end of the game. It
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: completely changes the game. So I'm not sure that works
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: well if if a lot of these games are ended
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: on the last play of the game, right, Okay, So
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: in this case, Kansas City field goal ties to game,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: they instead of slipping the coin, they would kick off
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: the buffalo. I know, but think about it like this. Okay,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: let's say I'm down by two, or let's say I'm
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: down by five and there's fifty seconds left. Now I
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: have fifty seconds in which to try to score a touchdown.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: In your scenario, I don't oh, no, I'm sorry, it's tied.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: It's tied. So but in your scenario, if it's tied,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: I have fifty seconds in which to win the game.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: But I don't now I have all the time in
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: the world in which to win the game, right right.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: I don't think that's fair to the defense. You do
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: you you do have often. I don't agree with his
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: objection to that rule, no, because I just don't understand
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: why you can't just keep playing football. Why I can't
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: you just play I'm with you, like it's the same
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: at the end of the second quarter, But how long
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: are you're gonna keep playing for? I told you one
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: quarter until somebody But that's that's not fair, that's why?
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Is that not even less fair? Until somebody wins? Well,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: what do you mean by somebody wins? Is it sudden
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I wanted to be timed for a period? Whoever gets
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: more points in a time period fifteen minutes? All? What
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: if he had shortened it? What do we did seven
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: and a half? Because that's one pos you could have
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: one possession seven and a half. That's the thing. Uh,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: just a little news to say. It looks like the
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Vikings and Bears have both found their targets for gm
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: uh yeah, Vikings, Quesse, Adolpho Mensa okay yea, and the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Bears are Ryan Poles when news chief executive director a
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: player personnel, So so that takes Ziegler out of those

- 1:18:38Speaker 1: Lots of emails coming in. Uh let's go to Mike
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: and Charlotte. He says, one thing that jumped out at
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: me this weekend is how open some of these receivers
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: were compared to the Patriots. It just seems like our
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: receivers don't have the ability to get separation consistently. Is
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: it me or do you guys agree? I think it's
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: just the offense as a whole. I mean, don't think
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: you know that certainly there they could use some improved athleticism,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: but I mean these are just awesome quarterbacks with elite
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: weaponry and fitting balls into tight spaces and mean when
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: they have to. Yeah, I don't know. I agree with Mike.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I think it's more about what happens after the catch
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: than anything else, you know. I think there's been plenty
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: of examples where the Patriots have been why. I think
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: their schemes are excellent and they get open a lot,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: but not for the dynamic kind of plays that we
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: saw this and some of these guys are wide open.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: But a lot of that is you're so spread out
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: as a defense, and it's so hard to defend. You
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: make mistakes, you screw up coverage, you know, because you
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: have to think so much, so hard where's that guy?
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Where's march? Follow him? And the next thing you know,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: you're in the Rick and Louisville. If the Moron coach
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: for the Bills had kicked it short after taking the
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: lead with thirteen seconds left, we aren't arguing about changing
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: in overtime. Stop whine, or you might be. You guys
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: had every chance to easily leave arrowhead of victor. You
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: want to whine about something, Whine about the little things
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: that you lacked in the last thirteen seconds. If you
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: played the same defense that you played in the last
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: thirteen seconds, you might have been in the same spot
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: because that wasn't going to take up thirteen seconds on
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: a kickoff. So if you did the same thing that
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: you did, you could be in the same spot. You
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: just allow free releases off the line, right, Joe writes,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: in let's face it, they didn't even come close to
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: running out of time. They had three seconds. I know,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: it wasn't It wasn't like they didn't even need ten.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: It's unbelievable how quickly all that happened. I mean, in fairness,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: he did the same thing to the Patriots in the
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: AFC Championship game in eighteen. I think it was thirty
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: one seconds and they didn't need the thirty one seconds.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: The last fifteen or so of that was trying to
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: win the game, but throws into the end zone. If
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: you recall, Yeah, yeah, Joe says, I always hate watched
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: the Kansas City versus Buffalo game. However, I took great
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: pleasure watching the Bills lose. They played we are the
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: champions last week after beating US, and I guess they
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: thought they had already won their Super Well, I agree, Joe,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: right with you. My question I have is do we
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: think Tom will ever meet or have an offseason work
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: out with Mac? I imagine no, but would be cool
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: if Tom gave Max some pointers in the offense. And
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: I don't think that's happening. How about now, I mean,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: if Mac wants to sign up for TV twelve maybe
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: then then yeah, now you're talking. Yeah, A good point
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: business a little something for Tom, you know. Yeah. I
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: saw a statu over the weekend that the you know,
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the final four quarterbacks, three of them were once the
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: highest paid player in the league, Stafford Garoppolo, and I
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: think Mahomes is currently the highest paid player in the league.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: So for the you can't pay your quarterback crowd. There's that,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: there's Hope kennon New Jersey. There's a lot of talk
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: that the Patriots with Mac Jones simply won't be able
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: to compete with Mahomes, Alan Burrow, Herbert, etc. In the
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: coming years. Certainly this competition is fierce, but the future
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: is so hard to predict. Injuries to scrunt the players,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: coaching changes will have their effect. Let's see what the
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: next two three years. Let's hope bring things changed quickly
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: in the NFL. Lamar Jackson was the MVP just two
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: years ago. Yeah, and Antonio Brown wants to go play
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: with him? Do you hear that? I mean, that's supposed
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: to be a point in your favorite Lamar Jackson was
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: the MVP a couple Lamar Jackson got hurt. Okay, it happens.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: But but trends do change in the NFL. You know,
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: five six years, is that really what you want to
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: bank on? Like the other teams will all collapse so
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: we can get back to where we want to be?
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Is that is that the plan? Hopefully like Kansas City
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: won't be able to handle it, even though this is
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: the fourth year in a row they're hosting the AFC
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Championship Game. Hopefully one of these years they won't be
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: able to handle success. Yeah, that's what we're hoping for now.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: But I don't think it's reasonable to expect that those
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: teams can, you know, stay at this high level. That's
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: you know, that's another thing. I think they've already done it.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: They've Gotta City has already done it. Are they gonna
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: do it for twenty years? Probably not. Andy Reid's not
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: going to coach for twenty years. They're not gonna do
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: it for twenty They've already proven that is wrong. Four
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: years in a row. They're hosting the ANFC Championship Game. Like,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: we can pray that they're gonna fall apart, but it's
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: not gonna happen. Enrique from Monterey, Mexico. So I always
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: analyze why do other fans hate New England so much?
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: It is hard to see it when you're a fan
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: of that hated team, But now I think I know it.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: In my case, I really really dislike Kansas City, and
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: yesterday it hit me, of course, they hated how we
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: pulled out games out of our rear end Divisional game
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: versus Oakland AFC Championship Game versus Baltimore and eleven, Malcolm
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Butler's interception down twenty eighth three, etc. Kansas City yesterday
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: showed me why the same hate fans had for Tom
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: I feel it from Mahomes. Now I get it. They win. Yeah,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: that's what happens. I don't hate Kansas City. I just
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: hate Patrick Mahomes's look and his girlfriend. I don't know,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: they're a really good team. I just I don't know
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: how you can watch that that game and unless you're
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: a total partisan fan not appreciate just that. Like that's
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: the way. I don't think that people hate the Patriots
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: for a game like what Kansas City did. I think
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: it's like when if you hate the Patriots going in,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: you're predisposed to be rooting against the Patriots and Lee
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Evans drops a pass that would have won the game,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: or Marshawn Lynch doesn't run the ball in from the
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: one yard line and said they throw the ball and
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: he gets picked up. Yeah, it's like Brady, like you know,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I mean, forget Atlanta. I could give you seventeen examples there,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: Brady throwing a touchdown pass and you know, to win
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: a game at the end. That's greatness. Like, I don't
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: think people were rooting against Kansas City Sunday and they're
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: rooting against the Patriots, I'm sure, But I don't look
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: at Mahomes and what he did Sunday and say that's
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: why I hate them. No, And I think a lot
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: of people are rooting against teams like Kansas City because
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: they we all the time, right because they want to
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: see something different, and the Bills are something new, something different,
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: And which was kind of why I was rooting for Buffalo.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: I didn't care. I really didn't. I didn't hate watch,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: I promise you God, No, I was light, I was loving,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: but I was kind of rooting for Buffalo just to
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: see a different team. Yeah, And just like right now,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I don't want it to be San Francisco in Kansas
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: City because we just had that two years ago. Same
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: quarterbacks too, h Dexter and Santa Rosa. For God to
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: fix the overtime rule, I think they should start overtime
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: with these rules. A field goal initiates sudden death regardless
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: of possession order similar to what is now, except not
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: just the first possession. A field goal initiates sudden death. Yeah,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. Now, the next rule
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: would make overtime more its sighting and fair. The first
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: touchdowns scored in overtime starts a process where the team
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: has a decision to either go for one or two.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: If they go for two and succeed, the game is over.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: I don't I don't want to read it. Sorry, I
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: don't why. I don't know why it has to be
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: so complicated. Yeah I did. It's intriguing. The Sophie's choice one.
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Have you heard this one? No? If you flip a
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: coin a line behind the door, you flip a coin, right.
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: The winner of the coin flip gets to choose where
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: the ball starts, so they can say the thirty five,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: the one yard line. The other team gets to choose
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: whether they want to start an offense or defense. So
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: it's a sophie like I could say, I want it
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: on the one yard line, Okay, we want to be
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: on defense. Then I want on the thirty five. You know,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: it's a little bit more of a choice there, But
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: that's it's interesting game, the game stuff going on there.
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: I don't playing. I just like to play. I mean,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: I'm I am one of these people. That's strange, you Bill,
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I like football, you would bill, right, like the normal
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: flow of the game and the calls, and I like football,
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: and I would like to see Yeah, let let the game.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: I've never really liked the college over time. I mean,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I can be just like everybody else and excited to
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: watch it, but it's not really football to me. Yeah,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: and not the same play. And like, at some point
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: one of the defenses was probably gonna make a play
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: if in that scenario, right, It's like, I don't think
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: it would be sustainable to expect both of those quarterbacks
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: to keep doing that for an extra half an hour.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: Let's say, right, at some point, somebody's gonna make a
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: play on one side of the other, and the game
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: is gonna end. But let it be a regular football play.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: If you're gonna do the conversion thing, then do it
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: the way they do it. And if they score a touchdown,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: make them go for two, and then the other team
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: matches it, they have to go for two. And if
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: it stays eight, and then we keep going. But it's
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: real football. It's not twenty five yards right, right, I
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: would just take kicking out so it's even more real football.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: Oh wow, Freddy, we got some problems with them over here.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Why are you on your phone? My email? It keeps
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: coming in and out, so I was just checking the
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: phone email. Yeah. I just liked the idea of playing
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: some semblance of what they did for the previous sixty minutes.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: And that's why I just think if you add a quarter,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: I think at least it's it's the closest replication. Yeah,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: there's nothing perfect. I get it. You're playing for a
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: long time. I don't know. Yeah, I mean hockey does
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: it and they go six over times, you know, like
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: soccer did it for you know, the playoffs. No more
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: golden boot or whatever it is, golden goal. You play
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: the you play the half. But hockey, if someone scores,
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: it could be over in ten seconds or it could
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: go three days. Bill and DC. After watching this weekend's game,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: particularly the one involving the quarterback who's going to be
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: in our division for the next decade, I've done a
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: complete one eighty on what the Patriots offseason needs should be.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Forget spending eighteen million on JC Jackson. He's good, but
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: not great, and better cornerbacks were getting torched all weekend.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: It's time to fight fire with fire and take that
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: cap money. And go after at least one premier receiver
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: and give Mac a fighting chance against the wattles and
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: chases and digs of the AFC. Clearly, offense rules in
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: the NFL, and for the Patriots to have a chance
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: of success, they need better weapons than what they have now.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Right now, we're bringing a knife to a gunfight. Yeah,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: those are I mean two of the three guys are
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: you know, in their first or second year, So you know,
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I think you can do it in the draft. I
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: want I want to get guys that are gonna stick
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: with Mac. I don't want to sign a you know,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: a guy to a two year deal and then you
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: know he's in and out. Like I just I think
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: you signed some free agents last year and they give
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: you kind of a baseline of guys who understand the offense,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: who are gonna be able to work with Mac. Now
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: you build from there, build the draft. You draft somebody
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: now in the first round four years, he's with Mac Jones,
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: you know, assuming they get the fifth year offenal quick.
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: But Efron says, why is there no talk of firing
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: the defensive coordinators? Are they worried that Bill Belich might
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: leave if they fire his son, some somebody. Yeah, somebody
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: needs to be held accountable for the forty seven seventeen disaster. Yeah,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: that's not going to happen. Yeah, I just that's I
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: don't know. I mean that's I saw red. What did
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: I read? Just like the whole thing of how much
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: Bills had in the defense and all that, And he
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: came in and he came out and then he went
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: back again. A part of you it was almost hoping that,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: like Mayo gets hired, so we'll just forced their hand
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: to like spin it up a little bit. They're hoping that, yeah,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: to to that way. They don't, you know, it's like
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: their thing of don't do anything till you have to, um,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: but they need to hire somebody, somebody. Just three years
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: in a row, you haven't had a defensive coordinator, somebody
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: you've had aside from last year, you've just the defense
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: has not gotten better. It's it's fallen apart in the
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: biggest moments. And I think Nikovich was making that point
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: last week of that like that, we've been saying, you've
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: got to have somebody who's accountable at that spot and
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: know on defense, so someone you can look to some
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: of the all the players can look to and say, Okay,
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: we're taking the orders from him. You know, it's a personality.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Take it on. You look at like Wink Martindale, You're
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: like Brian Pole looks like he's twenty one, a young kid.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Huh yeah, oh my god. Uh. Robert and Scotstale writes
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: in the problem with games that go down to the
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: wire is they greatly increase the impact of bad officiating
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: flagging a bleeding and irate Brady after they miss. Miller's
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: chin shot was a thirty yard swing. The cuss Tampa
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: at least three points. Meanwhile, Taunting's poster child, Tyreek Hill
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: is allowed a sixty five yard touchdown when the rule
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: was no touchdown. In Kansas City Ball on the Buffalo thirty,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: I don't that would not have been the call. While
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: these might have been a touchdown and a fifteen yard
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: penalty on the kickoff right. While these errors didn't solely
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: decide the games, the purest subjective enforcement of this rule
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: is another black guy for Roger. I hope Tom returns,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: because even with a depleted offense and a one point
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: three winning percentage in the third quarter, the impossible was
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: possible if not for that history Workley awful blitz call.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: No matter what the uniform, He's still Tom effing Brady.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Well that's for sure. Well, at least the defense was
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: no argument about four fumbles. Uh, let's turn back to
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: the phones. The ACEH ticket outline. Mike's in Texas. What's up, Michael? Hi? Guys? Hey,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: I called him once before, a long time listener. I
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: called Hi into a couple of weeks ago. I think
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: I was the one talking about Robert Draft in the
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: twenty years of excellence. This time I'm calling about and
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: I gotta say, Paul, I agree with you completely. It's
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: you take Bill Belichick as the head coach and as
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: the general manager. Right, And so Bill Belichick as a
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: head coach has won six super Bowls. As a general manager,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: he's won six super Bowls. But I know we've had
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: ongoing discussions about the drafts over the last few years
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: and the poor drafting. And it used to be the
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: word was that Bill Belichick was always willing to get
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: rid of a player a year early versus a year late.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: And what we've seen he's bringing bad players that have
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: already been gone and bringing him back, and the team
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: has gotten really old. But I think that part of
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: it comes from build the general manager, and those period
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: where we had you know, uh, poor drafting. Yep. I mean,
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: did you're making an argument for that? Absolutely? Yeah. And
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: we talked about it, like, you know, is impatience something
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: that hurt them? And you know, maybe the pressure to
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: get back into the playoffs with so much that Bill said,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: I can't afford to have all these young guys. I
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: gotta get some guys that have been there before that
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: at least. You know, I liked your theory so much
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: I stole it on Wednesday. Oh yeah, last week. Okay,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I did I agree with Yeah? I just there's there
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: I just there's no balance. You know. He's just you
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: brought exactly the guys back. You brought the exact team back,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: and they did exactly what they did two years ago.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: So no, it's just it's it's the lack of ouch,
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: of that not being Oh you know, if Ouch was
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: a hit and you're working him in with these guys
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: and now you're facing high tower free agency, you're saying, well, hey,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: we got a young second round pick who's played a
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: third year. He should be he's ready to go, you know,
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: And I don't think anybody's making that case for any
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: of those guys on the you know, on the second level,
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: with Jennings and Uch and Winivich, etc. Perkins. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: that's so. I think I pull that this year was
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: really a reload, not a rebuild. But I think we're
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: moving into the rebuild period because I mean, otherwise we're
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: gonna have the same result that we've had this past year. Yeah,
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: I think they start They started it, but I don't
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: think it's even close to being done. And Mike and
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: I were talking about this this morning. I think there
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: was a lot of work still to be done, and
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: the least of which I mean most important is mac Jones.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Like he needs to be really good if it's gonna work.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: But even if he is really good, there's a lot
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: of work to do to get the roster up to
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: where you see these other teams. And I think the
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: rebuild started as soon as Tom left, honestly, I mean, well, yeah,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: the first step was to comin, like to sort of
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: bottom out and reset. Yeah, and then they went out
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: and spent all the money when they reset, But it
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: doesn't going to happen in one season. But well, because
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: they didn't get it right. That's why it's not happening.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I think they missed on too many guys. But okay,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: do you believe like, because a lot of people think
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: in order to rebuild you have to bottom out more
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: than seven and nine, you have to really bottom out.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: But do you believe that you can keep winning and
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: keep competing and rebuild at the same time. Yes, I
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: don't care about the record, but I said they bottomed out.
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I meant cap wise, like they had to get rid
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: of all of that. And I think that Bill said that,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: But I think a lot of they had to get
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: rid of a lot of money. A lot of people
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: equate rebuild with you know, two and fourteen. Well, Bill's
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: too good of a coach for that. Yeah, well that's
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: the thing, you know, so so, but a lot of
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: people think you have to do that or else you're
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: always going to be drafting middle to the bottom of that.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: You could make an argument that, like signing Cam Newton
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: was not a smart move, okay, because you know, you
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: want a couple of games with his ability to run
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: the ball that maybe you would have lost with the
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: same roster. Everything else is the same. Yeah, Now, you
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: could make that argument, but you're not gonna go too
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: and fourteen with Bill Belichick as your coach. I mean,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: there's always going to be a Jets to beat twice
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: in a Houston to beat, in a Jacksonville to beat. Yeah,
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: they're gonna be teams that can't compete with you, and
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: you have the better coach, So you're gonna lose. That's
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. Like you can't go, He's not going
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: too and fourteen. But you know, like you know the
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: other phrase you hear is you know, they gotta tear
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: it down to the studs. That's what they did last year.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: They tore it down to the studds. Well in a way,
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: but not really, No, they did, Yeah, they did offensively offensively.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: I mean Tayshaun Bauer in Terres Hall like this, this
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: was the front seven, Like this is what I'm saying, Like, well,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: there was the front seven because High Tower opted out
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: and you know there was other conditions that So, I mean,
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: what is High Tower were gonna do last year? You
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: guys all want to get rid of him. I'm just
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: saying he would have been playing last year, would have
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: been no. But but there were other guys that were
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: playing because you just had nothing. It was Lawrence guy
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: and nothing right pretty much pretty much. Yeah, I mean
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: that's what you had up front last year. I mean
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: you went out and signed a bunch of guys. I
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: don't know how good they are, but they're like Devon Gotcha,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: I think was not good. But he's an NFL player
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: like Tayshaun Bauer, you know love you mean it works hard,
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: tries hard, not really an NFL player like That's that's
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: the difference between what you had last year and this year.
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: And Bau was just an example. He wasn't a front
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: line player. He came up and he filled in down
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: the stretch whatever. I know, he was just the name
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: that popped into my head. But still he was one
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: of representative of many of those kind of guys that were,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: you know, over extended, like even teacher wise. I mean
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: he came back, but he doing a ton. They worked hard,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: I think trying to find some young guys that maybe
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: and I think terres Hall is a guy that maybe
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: did impress them a little bit. And I don't know what.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: I don't know what his injury is, why he was
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: out and seeing him all year, but I do think
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: they kind of liked his physicality last year, so they
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: stripped it. They stripped it down to the stunt. I
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: just want to get it clear on everyone's opinion, it's
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: still possible to compete for the playoffs and rebuild a team.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: Do you believe that's true? I think yeah, yes, in
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: that league, GEO, because I mean, you know, I mean,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: I'm just really getting sick of the term rebuild because
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: we get a lot of questions as if people think
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: that like there's just this easy. Well we're in the
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: year two of the rebuilding, but year four it's the
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: super Bowl. Yea button over here. All you have to
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: do is push that, right, you're rebuilding in two years,
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: you're retitle. And I hate that thirty time constraints, Like people,
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: we get all these emails in our inbox from for
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: SPFWS and the you know, give me a time frame
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: on the number in that league? Can in that league?
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: There is no time frame r Right, it could be automn,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: it could be immedia, right, And there's been how many
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: teams go from from last to first in that league? Right? Well,
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: just like the Bengal two years ago, right, And how
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: many teams in the of the thirty two would you
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: qualify as rebuilding, Like, like, you could probably make a
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: case that twenty eight of them are in some kind
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: of rebuild. It's just the way the league is. You're
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: always rebuilding. I just I think every season is its
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: own challenge and trying to just build a team for
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: that season. I agree like long term, but it's all
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: about the draft. It's all about the draft. You get
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: Mac Jones, you don't have all this like money to
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: spend this year. You've got to hit in the draft
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: again this year. I think that's where the focus has
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: to be. But there's no guarantee that any of this
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: is going to add up to bang. You're a see
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: maybe more stout like Cincinnati, they go from two and fourteen,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: They get a quarterback, they get a weapon, they put
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: some pieces in place, and they're in the AFC Championship.
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: It can happen like that, but it's it's so floor
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: it happens like some of these other teams, like like
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: look at Cleveland, like they look like, okay, we got
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: our quarterback, we're guys, and all of a sudden circumstances.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: You know, COVID was one issue, but I mean Cleveland
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: had some significant aspirations heading in. But I think I
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: think if there's one lesson we've learned over the last
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: twenty years, not just this weekend, twenty years, if you
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: have a great quarterback, it makes it a hell of
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: a lot ease absolutely everything else a non starter. If
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: you don't have a quarter it's like that is like
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: the bare mimium to get in the party. Do you
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: have a quarter back who can you know, complete some passes,
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: throw some touchdowns, put defenses on their heels a little bit?
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: And I think we saw that at times here and
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: there from Mac in the offense. But they got to
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: be better and I think every Patriots family was reminded
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: of that this weekend watching that game, and everybody's apoplectic.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: But a lot can happen. It's fluid, and you know
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: they've they've got moves to make this year. Uh A
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: sticket helpline eight five five five hundred. Aaron's in Flint, Michigan.
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: What's up, Aaron? Hey? What's going on? Voice again? Um?
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: I want to open up with a funny story. I
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: had a Foo Blue TV app during during UH chapionship.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: I mean the visital games, yep, yep, so so I'm
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: watching the game early in the morning. I told the spouse,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: I'm not getting out of bad. I'm gonna watch them
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: ten am to two pm. So I'm watching the network.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: They're talking about the games that's coming on a dove
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: off wake up in the middle of the h the
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: bill being Kansas City Chief game. What I'm cheering and
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: I'm rooting for. I don't want Flow the win at all,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: so I'm cheering from my home to and now I
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: get into the little the second quarter and realized I'm
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: watching a replay because I was gonna say, you were
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: watching it ten in the morning, you dozed off and
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: you woke up at like eight at night. Yeah, I
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: thought they were playing first, you know. I was okay,
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: you didn't realize that it was you still light out.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: You know. It's funny, he said this. I saw it
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: on the guide that they were replaying that game during
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: they did, and I thought to myself, what kind of
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: a weird choice. It's the exact same game that's happened.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: I wonder if anybody because for a second I was like, wait,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: it's on NFL. I had the same like but they
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: got somebody scrapped. That sounds like the Ferrara story with
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: no hitter, absolutely so so on the Bill Belichick moving
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: forward future. Do you think that and this was after
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: watching Belichick and you know how you guys, you know,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: I listen to you guys long as I've been a
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: Patriot fan. Do you think he's becoming the grumpy old
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: man because he has not changed his game plans and
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: three games now, and that this is just what he's becoming,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: just a you know, just you know, the grumpy old man. Yeah,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: I don't know. I I hear what you're saying. Like
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: they tried the same thing against Josh Allen. It didn't
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: work the first time. But I don't know if Bill thought,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: like he had many other options, Like as bad as
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: it looked, he probably thought it was gonna look worse
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: if I changed it up, because you know, and I think, yeah,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: I think, I think I think it might have been
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: just an admission that were I loved. I love those
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: We're not suited, We're not suited to beat this guy.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: You know. I just think they threw everything they could
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: at him. They had no answers because they had no
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: players that could win. I agree with you, guys, I
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: just I do. I agree with you, Fred, I think
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: you're right, But I just think it's it's wonderful to
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: be in a position win. No matter what I do,
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: he's just gonna say, well, well he did what he
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: thought was best. But but I but now you can
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: blame you know, build the GM for being in that position.
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: But I think I go back to when he said
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: we couldn't keep up. It's not just scoring points. They
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: couldn't keep up defensively, couldn't keep up. Yeah, the whole thing,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: both sides. Yeah, and the whole thing. And even if
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: I would put it on personnel and execution, it still
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: goes back to him even you know, I just I
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: just think people complaining about the game plan, that doesn't
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: matter if you don't win. But like the reason I'm
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: pushing back Aaron is, I do think Bill is adapt
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: He can adapt, whether it's within a game or I
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: do think that, like he likes to innovate and he
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: likes to, you know, try things. I don't think he's
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: stuck in his ways. I don't. I really don't. Well,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: I mean, I agree, but I also think, like after
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: these games against Josh Allen, if there are some interesting
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: moves this year, do you read between the lines and
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: think that that's directly kind of correlating to what they
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: weren't able to do again right right? What he does
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: is this what you know, how how are we going
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: to do this? But I mean, really, I think like
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: having these kind of safety hybrids and you know that
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: that's kind of been his thing over the last five
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: six years. So does it change into something new to
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: deal with this? I don't know. I mean, obviously every
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: defense is struggled on with right now, and I think
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: it's a simple math of eleven on eleven instead of
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: eleven on ten, which is what defenses are used to
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: for most of football. And when you get like thanks
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: for the call, Aaron, when you get like Alan and Mahomes,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: who's so good at running, it's almost like twelve on eleven. Yeah,
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: he becomes a passer and a running back at any time,
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: extending plays. And how many times did those two guys
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: make plays in the game where they converted a third
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: down with their legs or they did something with their
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: legs that just kept their offense early in the game.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Mahomes was unbelievable that they had him like three times.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: It was kind of funny because It was kind of
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: like the way Mac had the two plays early in
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: the game against Buffalo, where Mac, you know, had one
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: that he eluded the rush and threw the ball to
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: Henry and another that he ran for the first down himself.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: You know, obviously not the same kind of athlete, even
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: though I know Max faster maybe sub five S five
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: sub five Max faster than Mahomes, I know, but um,
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: it's it's amazing how you feel like you have the
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: right play. I mean, what do you do on like
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: fourth and three against Buffalo when the big dopey quarterback
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: just takes the ball and says, I'm going to plow
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: over you, right, and you're not going to stop right right?
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: I think, you know, in retrospect for the Bill season,
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: and I don't know for sure if this is what
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: they did, but you know, I keep recalling the day
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: after Christmas when Mike declared the game over in the
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: second quarter and was right by the way, Um, and
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: we just kept looking at each other and said, how
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: can you continue to ask this guy to do this
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: every game? And now in retrospect, when I look at
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: the entirety of their season, I think that they said
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: we don't want you to do that. Don't do that
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: for ten or twelve weeks. We'll do it when we
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: have to, because I he played the last six weeks
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: entirely different than he played the first ten. You know,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: in my opinion anyway, just from watching from afar, I
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: didn't see him running like that, not with that kind
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: of power. Um, But I think it emerged too with
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: him taking the checkdowns and not dumping as stupid aggressive too.
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: I think that was a development. I kind of saw
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: a little bit in his game. I meant, you know,
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: and I mean I think a lot of ways those
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: little swing passes to the running that that became their
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: run game and in our game, in our game two,
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: like where those problems for him usually happen, or when
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: he's under pressure and he's running trying to avoid a
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: you know, well he was never really under pressure against
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: the Patriots. Uh. Some news out of Buffalo. They're gonna
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: be streaming live the raising of the divisional wind banner.
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: So I have a I have a developing thought on Buffalo. Okay, Um,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: what do you think of McDermott. I think he's an okay,
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: but I think I think he's a little bit in
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: his own head right now, Well, you kind of spurred
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: something for me. Yeah, what do you guys think of McDermott.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: I think he's a good coach. I think he's fine,
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: But I think a lot of other than that is
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: going to dable for developing Alan And you know, I
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: think he's got a good solid defense h McDaniel like Dermott,
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: you've dabled a job. Wow, Well that's that would be
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: a good example of the owners saying we can't let
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: this guy out. Yeah, right, And I'm not sure about
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: the guy that I had right right, Like, if I
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: was I wouldn't worry about the guy Levin, if I
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: thought he was great, if I had Belichick, like you
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: know whatever. Yeah, but I'm just wondering if they have
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: some you know, some concerns about, oh you have some
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: Brian Dable head coach, Sean Payton stepping away. Yeah, this afternoon,
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: I thought they might have. So that makesning. That's one
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: of those like when you when you watch NFL Network
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: and they're sort of be laboring a topic and you
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: sort of wonder, do they already know this has happened?
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Kevin James. The Saints are hiring Kevin James to be
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: the head coach playing the part. So now there's another one. Now,
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: the problem there is there is no quarterback in place,
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: so that needs to be um rebuild. If you're going
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: to be the coach there, you have to have some
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: idea that you're gonna get Wilson or Rogers or Brady
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: or you know or somebody. So here's the thing. Why no,
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: so so Crafts say, Okay, Sean, you come in, you
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: be our offensive mcdanzel's leaving, you be our offensive coordinator.
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: When Bill leaves, you're our head coach. Sean Payton, Peyton Payton,
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: You think he stepped aside for being a head of
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: beach because he wants to still be a head coach here?
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: Yeah at New England. Like again at New England. Better team,
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: better ownership, yep, better ownership, quarterback stability yep. Uh No,
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: Sean Payton, next head coach of the New England. Page.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: Sometimes I can't even respect mutual even me. Some times
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: I can't argue Jeffson Texas. What's up, Jeff? Hey, guys,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: thanks for taking my call. Enjoy the show. I just
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: want to make a quick comment and then I got
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: a couple of um things I want to bring up.
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I've really enjoyed the weekend games. Unbelievable and I got
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: my wish. The Rams beat Brady in the buck, so
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: baby Brady can retire and Chiefs beat the Bill So
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: I really like that. But yeah, I mean, I just
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I always want to say I agree with Fred. I mean,
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: I don't think we're as far away as um, you know,
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: making some of the fixes that we need to do,
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: and just be more competitive next year. I mean, I
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: don't know, you know about playoffs or whatever, but just
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: being a better, more competitive team. Um, you know, like
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: in the draft, getting a m you know, a real
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: number one wide out, getting a good cornerback and you know,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: a linebacker. And one thing I I really like, like
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: not far away at the Rams. I mean that Aaron
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: Donald and Von Miller, And I mean that that combinations unbelievable.
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: We could just get one guy, yeah where the other
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: the offense has to account for that guy all the
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: time because he's so disruptive. What a difference that makes,
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: you know, we never we never got pressure on any
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: of the quarterbacks. I mean I don't think any games
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: we got pressure on any quarterbacks. I mean that would
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: be huge. Well, I mean I think at times this
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: year they had pretty good prey. It didn't always result
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: in sacks, but I think they were disruptive at times
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: thrust half of the year. The yeah, the first half
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: of the year. I mean, remember Judo had twelve and
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: a half sacks in a blank him an eye, you know,
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: and then and then he and then he fell off
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: right hopefully, yeah, hopefully he can be game. Whatever happened there,
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: we don't know, but he stopped playing. I do agree
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: with the other caller about Jase Jackson. I mean, um,
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: you know, maybe you know that money could be better
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: spent spread around more. A lot of people feel are
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: agree with you. Now, Yeah, it's amazing what happens if
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: you don't play well in a game, you know, and
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: then I guess you know, and then the other obviously,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: the other things is, you know, Josh McDonald's, does he
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: end up leaving or so the coaching staff. I'm sure
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: there's going to be some turnover there, hopefully, you know,
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: for the better, whatever happens there. And then also just
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: you know, hope to see when we get into spring
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: training and everything. We've seen Mac make progression in year two. Yeah,
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: that's what I have to say, we're not far away.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: But I do think I think five minute explanation. I
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: think if if Josh leaves, that's gonna be highly disruptive. Yes, yeah,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: I believe alutely. Yeah. How old is Peyton Sean Payton?
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, he's not like Belichick's age,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: he's not sexy. Probably late fifty. He's not. He's not
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: He's not. I was gonna say sixty. So does anybody
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: find it curious why he's deciding to step down? Now?
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: You know, he's got a lot going on. He's one
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: of I don't know, he's just always want to know.
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: It's just he's always one of those guys. I feel
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: like that has things going on. Is there some well?
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: I just asked because I wonder if is there some
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: sort of scandal that he's anticipating coming out. I don't know,
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: I don't know, you never know if that's I'm just
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: wondering if he's Kevin James movie. He doesn't want me,
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: he doesn't want to answer for it just feels like
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: there's no chance for him to get a quarterback, and
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: he just figures I'll I'll go now and wait. See
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: Maybe maybe not as the offensive coordinator, eybody, but he
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: waits a couple of years. Bill point, you don't usually
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: just quit. Yeah, you know, because he's been rumored to
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: be leaving for like five years. Oh yeah, yeah, Okay,
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: that's the only thing Now I think. I don't think
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: it's a little odd. I don't think I agree with Eric.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: I don't think it's it at fifty eight. I think
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: he's probably going to coach again. That's the pets. Okay,
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: after Bill leaves, you know, it takes a couple of
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: years off he charges batteries still on the Parcels tree. Yeah,
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: mutual response, Now we like Parcels. I never said he
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: wasn't a good coach. O God, I forget. I never
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: said he wasn't a good coach. Forget he tweeted at
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Paul I wanted to run. He should be in the
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: page Hall of fan That's all I God, who tweeted
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: it today might have been Tommy, But somebody said that
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: Parcels was like the best in game manager of anybody,
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: and I want to of anybody who could sideline management,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: it would be Paul Pole was great. I never had
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: a single problem and single thing he did at the
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: end of the day. I couldn't. I couldn't tell you that. No, no, no,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: it's just something I'd never heard about. Think. I think
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Bill is largely um outstanding in that regard with clock
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: management and stuff. Now, there's always times that I second
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: guess him, most notably the Super Bowl against Seattle when
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler picked off the pass. I think that was
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: gross negligence not calling timeouts. And he acknowledged like it
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: was a weird thing, like he really thought about it,
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: and he was looking over at that other sideline and
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: he saw a little bit of chaos and he said, yeah, anyway,
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: I think that's a great explanation to explain why he
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: didn't call time out when he should have. No, but
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: I know, but you see you have film with him
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: like hands on knees staring across the field when he
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: should have called time out, and he admitted, normally I
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: would have called time I just asked you a question. What, yes, no,
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: he never does anything. I want to know what you feel, No, no, no,
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: what what you would feel if on that play they
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: handed off to Lynch and they scored a touchdown, and
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: now the Patriots lost because they didn't have enough time.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: Would you say it was. And then Bill said after
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: the game, I didn't call time out because I looked
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: over across the field and I thought I sent some
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: confusion right on near sideline. How would you feel about that?
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: Explaining guess I was wrong, he was wrong. Instincts were wrong.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: But I didn't ask you whether or not because I
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: think his instincts were wrong anyway. No, but his instincts
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: were right. Just because they threw the ball doesn't mean
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: there was confusion. But whatever reason, like he it's not
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: like he said no, you know, like he brushed off
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: the question. He admitted because it worked out for him.
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: That's why he didn't brush it off. But he admitted
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: that calling a time out made sense and that situation
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: I never said, which is an easy thing to admit
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: when it works and you know it. He never said
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: he didn't consider it. He did consider it, right, But
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: I'm saying, you know, play the what if game? Yeah? Play?
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: He would have been Really, it would have been a
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: bad move. He wouldn't have said all the things that
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: he said. Is is number one. He wouldn't have said,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: I just looked over and saw them in confusion. No,
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: he wouldn't have said that I'm just asking you, if
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: he did say it, how you would feel like he
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: thought you thought you should call a time out to
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: give yourself some time. And you looked over and you said,
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: I can read his mind from you know, sixty yards away,
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: and I thought there was confusion over there. That's really that.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: That's the explanation that you've given me. You looked across
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: the field and thought there was confusion on the other sideline.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: This makes sense to and he was right. That's the
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: that's the stuff like I have to like take my
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: chips and leave the table because I can't handle that.
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: That's great for the Fitzies, Jerry's and Mics of the
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: world that you can live in this little cult and
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: think that that makes sense because because it worked. I
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: think it was. I think this video evidence to support
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: what he was that he was looking at the other sideline. Yes,
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: this video evidence of that. Yes, there is so. And
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: thank god they did that, thank god, thank god, thank god.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: They threw the ball right and they were all screwed up.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: Thank god they were doing so saw it. They weren't
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: on the wrong page. They did that on purpose. All right,
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: One more one more call. Darrell is in San Antonio.
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: What's up, Darrell? Hey, guys, thank you for taking my call. Uh,
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: first time caller, a long time listener, you know whatever. Anyhow,
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: just that quick question, um, first, real quick thought. I
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: want to hate the Bills, but I just don't. I can't.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: I think they are like a really fun team to watch,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: and I agree, I can't really hate him, you know,
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: I can't hate him. Uh So yeah, to my point, uh,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: do you'll think that we might be victims of our
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: own success with our team many that we have an
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: inability to draft high and the draft because of our success.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: I mean, I'm seeing the same thing where he is,
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: and I'm telling it with this first long time success
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: because of the Big Three, and now we're like in
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: perpetual mediocrity, uh for the past few years because we
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: don't draft high off and we haven't been bad enough
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: that we get a high draft pick. And to that biggest,
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: same thing that will happen to us. You know, we
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: want to still compete. We don't want to we don't
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: want to have a loser, a losing Seaton. But at
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: the same time that puts us in the middle of
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: nowhere being able to draft. You have to you just
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: have to draft. I mean Pittsburgh. The NBA is very
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: hard draft. At the top of you know, you have
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: to have a top three pick. There's plenty of NFL
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: teams that draft uh yeah, you know, really really well
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: without high pick. Yeah, Pittsburgh is a good example. You
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: want to know a team to draft really well without
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: any picks at all. As the Rams, Thanks Darrell. The
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Rims have a like a laundry list of third, fourth,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: fifth round guys that play huge roles for them. Yeah,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: like you can. You can get players like Mike. We
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: keep Mike and I keep talking about this wide receiver thing,
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: and one of these years, damn it, we're gonna do it.
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: We're gonna get one of these second or third round
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: guys who makes an immediate impact are out there, all right,
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: that's gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: Thanks for listening. We'll be back Thursday, and I got
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: a feeling there might be some news not just with us,
