Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: And here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: what is going on faithful is absolutely incredible to be with you guys today.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: I had an absolutely blessed training camp this morning.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: It was a very long practice.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: The title of the show today, what I saw at forty-dieter's training camp practice, again, kind of a different format than the past where I used to go live, you know, just outside the field and whatever else.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you know, with the, it's funny.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: I turned on the press conference,
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: practice press conference while I'm driving.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, man, the YouTube app just keeps closing because like, I don't have the video up.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: I just had the phone down.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: The audio is playing through the speakers.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: It just stops, you know, after a couple of minutes, I'm like, dang, it just won't work.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'll get home and watch it.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: I get home and watch it.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't my damn phone.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's the freaking $40 audio visuals team, pausing.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: The mic muting the mic from Brand Boyer, and they just turned it up off and said it's like, it's like, oh, like I was so frustrated.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, man, my phone just not working out
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's the 49ers audio team winning again.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: But I got through the pressers.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was interesting.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely some notes there.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I've got about 12 pages of notes in my little handy dandy, little notebook that I got here.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Then I'm going to go through and get to your questions as well.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: Injuries continue to mount up.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it just doesn't seem.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you even had Fred Warner's scare.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin grabbing the back of his leg,
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: both of them press through, but it's just anything that happens now whenever you have 17, 18 players not practicing already in the second week of campus just like everything just adds to the gravitas of
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: Man, the injuries are crazy crazy crazy crazy so that's what we're going to get to today.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 1,683 of the Ford Aerosource Pad podcast.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: So thankful that you guys are here and spending your time.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you have questions throw those up to the chat have to say thank you to our executive producers, David Gill, 49ers stores, 365 Corey Robbins.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: They make this show happen.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: What is up hashtag CC?
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: The count
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: Who got hurt today the two big injuries were a Fred Warner and Nick Martin neither which seemed to be serious.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice the Niners have a day off tomorrow.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: So the basically today concluded the week of practice.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a true seven day.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's more of a six day two days on jog through one hard day, one day off, start again.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: so it's on a six day loop today was the hard day the long practice and it was a long practice that's another big reason why we're going later than normal and also I had the opportunity to break bread with a couple of friends shout out Daniel and Ryan thank you for all your help today and that was cool anytime you can take that chance just don't pass those times up to build relationships it is a big big deal look at this shade hashtag cc pull muscle Monday
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, it's just, it's what it is, man, um, and yeah, like Nick Martin, who was my primary focus today.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was all, you know, you had your top four wide receivers, not even practicing.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, no mic ovens, we can hear someone's done.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, notes of Sean Stripley, no Christian Kirk, so I'm like, okay.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to pay too much attention to wide receivers corners, even though there's some of that in my notes.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, all right, well, let's watch this number three linebacker this sandbacker.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: what that looks like.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see what Jayden Dugger does.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it turns out they moved him to edge, which if you go back to the draft, live reaction, but they drafted them, I said, I think he needs to be playing edge.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: I would not put them at linebacker.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: They put them at linebacker first.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: You had all these injuries to the defensive end now.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: Jayden Dugger's change positions.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, they're kind of in dire straits.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Let's try it out.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you right now, Jayden Dugger's going
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: This is where he should be and he flashed and it was kind of like one of the Maybe negative takeaways and maybe I never had the purpose today of saying I want to watch defensive ends out there because so many are injured
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Ramello height is not a guy that has jumped off.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: It backed back practice is really, really hasn't.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: But, but, Jayden Tucker did.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is not an indictment by any stretch of the imagination against Ramello height and his first padded practice back.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: Cut all those things, but like I wasn't paid to attention to it, but there was never a point where I was like, ooh, who's 94, all right?
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: That didn't happen.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: It did happen with Jayden Tucker.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just remember writing in my note pad and just being like, two, I haven't even noticed for a middle height one time.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not watching the edge guys.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was watching, you know, Nick Martin, uh, wallo, jade and dugger, ad shoot, even Larry were a junior.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: He got a couple reps in with the ones when Martin went out because jade and dugger was with the edge guys, um, Garrett Wallo just came off the field.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: They had to rotate somebody there out of guys.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Larry were a junior.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: Get in there and made a good play.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: to play where tune you're from try out to getting reps with the ones in the second week of practice.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure how much of a glowing report that is of layer regenerating though we look good.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: As it is just good Lord, you are mismanaging the roster and you are killing your numbers.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're just killing them at every single position didn't want to watch running backs because shoot three of the four top running backs are out Christian we can't free out there getting reps way more reps than I've ever seen them in training camp, but it was the Patrick Taylor show that Kishon Kishon Vaughn used to wear that number.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Just signed off the street.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Herbert, Cleo Herbert, and he's getting reps like crazy, but yeah, the Nick Martin tweet really like whenever I tweeted that out, it bothered me too because I thought he had a damn good practice.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: Probably my favorite moment of the day, and whenever we get to the team, you know, one's V ones.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: they run a boot the offense does and they pull um the tighted Luke Feral opposite zorl block however you want to go cross block all the way across the line to pick up the edge rusher which was Nick Martin coming off the edge.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin sticks his chest his shoulder into the chest Luke Feral just pancake flat in that man like just as absolute and bit like if I would have
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: It would have had, I don't know, a couple hundred thousand views in an hour, just like smut, just took this man's soul, your soul is mine, right, seeing something like just destroyed it, Nick Martin looks the part.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: played really, really well today.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was cool seeing on Blitz off the edge, Brandon Parker showed him down on one, which was kind of frustrating.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was excited.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: They finally called the Blitz number of Nick Martin off the edge and I was like, Oh, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: It just got shut down by the tackle.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Brandon Parker showed him down.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, dang it.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's, this is the Epson flows of the draft.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin looked great today.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think that
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: for that number three linebacker is Nick Martin, Garrett Wallow, Jayden Dougher slash Larry worth.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's like, Tatum Bethto is not even practicing there.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's the backup Mike and kind of backup Mike only.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he is.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: So kind of interesting, the Nick Martin's even taking some will snaps, like he's played the same in the will.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's doing both and you've got Tatum Bethto and he's just playing the Mike.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: So that that's kind of where everything is as far as the lineback rotation, but I watch Nick Martin more than anybody, and I would great him very, very positively, but of course he pulls up, grabbing the back of his hamstring, hopefully it's not too bad.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: A Brock looked better today again.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Brock is not a concern of mine, and he really, really isn't.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of good throws are a couple over throws.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: uh... could have had a touchdown jacaton just just ghosted uh... number twenty seven uh... just ghosted there were probably about five or six just major negative reps by number twenty seven today but none of them cost them because of overthrows underthrows recorded back to just not looking that way now twenty seven did make
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: two positive plays.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um, had a nice man to man coverage against Tanjus broke up the ball in red zone period, which it feels like that is where Jaiya Brown's going to be successful is in the red zone middle of the field.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: He just has so many problems.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: The run game problems, past game problems, one v ones got cooked several times by who was it that I had to look back.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh man, what was it?
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: I had it written down somewhere.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Irwin.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Irwin.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Number 82, just signed to the roster.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Cook, Jaya Brown, so bad.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, everybody was like, oh, and it was like, two, that's our number nine wide receiver.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even exaggerating.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: The number nine wide receiver cooking your starting safety.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's one of ones.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Safety's usually don't fair too well in one of ones.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I get it, but it's like to at least get close.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like you could even got him a flag football and there's going to be bad reps and
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: But then you get blown by back to back practices where he gave up a deep sim route to Farrell and missed to Marcus Robinson on a blown coverage, but the quarterback didn't see it like I'm not worried about Brock party.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: I am majorly concerned with number 27, J.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Brown, which I was beforehand and you could say like, hey, he's making place.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: He did.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: He made two really good places today.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would count five major negative plays, that all could have been probably not touchdowns, three of them could have been touchdowns.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then he gets up there, the press conference, throw an old coaches under the bus.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's the number 27 way.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now he did have a quote where he's like, I'm going to take accountability for myself after he threw other people.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just cannot deal with the emotional immigurity of number 27.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: And when that translates to on the field as well,
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he has a great season.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: There is no backup plan whatsoever.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Ashton Davis doesn't look the part at all.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: There are safeties out there on the streets that I think are better than our safeties.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: I do believe that.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers do not value that position.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Will not do anything to whatever.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And like the worst thing is, Jaiya Brown's your cover guy.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's your field corner, right?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: That is the demarcation that he used field boundary.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: So one goes to the short side of field.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: The other one goes to where there's more grass.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's your cover guy.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's getting ghosted and coverage only situations.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's just thought up.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're not even actually tackling.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: And he still looks horrible.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Horrible.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: Jaya Brown sucks out there.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: He looked like Dorel Luder Jr.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is the Jaya Brown we've seen.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Now you could be like, oh, this is fun.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I love this scheme and all that stuff.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I like our coaches more now.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: Do it still not put together consistent practices.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: And 49er social media could do all they want to to shove him in our face and put them all up over every single picture they take and press car.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: You're not a good player.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Has it been a good player?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, do it.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Brock looked better.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Jones continues to kind of underempress, but like you're not concerned about the 49ers quarterback room.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: There are so many other guys that you are worried about.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the offense just finished installing today.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Today was the last day of installing plays as their core framework.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now they get a polish, right?
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now you get to start building this play on that play and all those different things so because right now it's just throwing individual darts at a dartboard does this one hit does this like you're not scheming against the defense you're not can't cannon you're not flipping you're not audibly and you're not doing adjusting protection you're just going out there just running this play.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Niners don't do that in games and that that's what makes Kyle Shanahan Kyle Shanahan right and the system What makes it so good?
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not there today.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not concerned about Brock at all.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what's up Dr. Jake readings from Germany appreciate you 49ers audio team dot practice did today.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, they're not what's up doc appreciate you man RTP my man.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: What's up dude glad to see John if you tweet Nick Martin gets hurt again and not tweet after that He returned we're gonna have problems
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: I got trouble.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't supposed to tweet that, it's so like there's periods where you can have the phone out and not I should have had my phone out there that time and so I got trouble they called me out, but anyway, it's what it is.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Take that for what you will, but yeah, it's been rough, man.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's been rough and and.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's, it's just bad.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it happening?
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: You have the worst strength in conditioning program in the country.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even close.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Players not taking care of themselves.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's a part of it.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: Hamstring issues.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: You can fix those are preventative.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: Niners have the most in the NFL.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: They have the most last season.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: And they are already the most injured team in the NFL through two weeks.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Shocker.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: They've been the most injured team since they've moved from candlestick.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: you put together whatever it is you want to put through that.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that is up to you with some Maria.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Shannon Glad that you guys are here.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you're the best and footballers back can't wait to listen more content.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: And there are a lot of positives.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: So many positives.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but yeah, too many injuries.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: That that is the problem.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, height didn't practice yet.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody practiced yesterday yesterday was, um, jog through.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, height first day back.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: wasn't lightening it up.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_01]: He did have one play where I was like, all right, that was cool.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was after I wrote like, dude, heights not really jumping off at all.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Then I kind of subconsciously was like, okay, let's watch 94.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, all right, that was pretty good.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: Good explosiveness.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: That count is a pressure.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, but you're not hitting the quarterback.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: So pressures and sacks and would be, it's all hypotheticals.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and I have had so many times as a coach where you go back,
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: to the coaching room and you start watching the post practice tape in the old line to you line coach are arguing nonstop.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: That ain't a sack.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: He was a skate.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, we would learn them and you know, it's ages all this time in the coaching room.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, some of these plays, you're like, okay, probably would have been a sack, probably couldn't have got the ball off whatever else, but that's not what's important long term.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: You embrace the struggle
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: And you just try to improve and work on what you can work on.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Joelle, my man, are we going to have enough bodies to start game one game one?
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the preseason games may be not those are going to be rough because.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you've got to have a lot of dudes out there for the preseason if you're resting, you know, your studs, which you don't want all your studs to play in the preseason game.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: So, so that's kind of a big deal, but.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I mean, and shoot.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 91 guys, you're already down 16.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Some guys are in rest and, you know, just go through warmups, Nick Bosa, you know, that those guys are out there.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you're down 70, now you're down 60.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, are you gonna start getting some of these guys back?
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, you have two punters.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, can you afford?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: And, brand-point, you even talked about this.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, two, having two punters and a punter competition is not a luxury this team can afford.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: You could have another wide receiver, another tight end, another running back, another defensive end.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be probably not going to make the roster, but you need guys out there.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Givens is starting to defensive end for this team right now.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just be honest.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: That is not functional.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, we have two punters.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a misappropriation of funds and resources.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a chance of things.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: You really do, I, I, I, 100% like I don't give a damn which punter you keep.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: I like Jalp, Jack Balmista.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he has the higher ceiling.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: But like, even if you wanted to cut him, that's fine.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I don't, I don't care.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just there's no reason to have two punters when you're the most injured team in training camp.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Make a choice, bro.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: And Brett Boyer said, like, well, we want to see him approach your situations.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: How they kick him, preseason games.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have time for that.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is a punner.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: You can get these guys off the street.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: No offense.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: But like, just go with one.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Get you somebody out there that can practice.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this ain't hard work.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be smart about the numbers here.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Two punners.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Carlos what's up Carlos Mendez miss you brother hope we get a hanging out again today or this season down to Mexico Yeah, I'm not sure you're coming up this season, but I'll be coming down to you John the new beginning.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go Niners.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Who look at this New Zealand rugby team.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: I love it
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: uh... there we go we're getting all kinds of lot of new zealand in awesies with us going downtown sure i can't wait to meet up everybody uh... tell me everything you saw from braiden will stay braiden will set the play of the day today and i'm not exaggerating number nine
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: It was an Odell type catch where he's basically running, you know, kind of a, not a leak route, not necessarily seem route, but like a fade.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_01]: And the ball just gets floated up and he's running and kind of pivots, turns, opens his chest of the ball, one handed behind-home pulls it in while falling down in credible play.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Crowd went crazy during team, like it was awesome.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I know people are like, Braden Willis shrugged his shoulders, whatever else.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: Tighten is a major need for the 49ers.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: And if George Kiddles not going to be out there for the first month of the season, which I don't think he will be me and Raj, we're talking and watching him warm up, the warm-up's got better, but man, you just watch George Kiddle walk and I put a clip out there.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I get walkin' with swagger, and maybe you got a little limp and whatever.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is a different, it's not there yet.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Is he ahead of schedule?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Cool, is he running routes?
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: Is he out there jogging in all that stuff?
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're a month from the season.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: Do not force this guy before he's ready.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: You could ruin his career.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's 32.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Braden Willis has a shot and outside shot at this roster.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: He really, really does.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: Get out by the big Martin III.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: I just said Nick Martin just limped off the field, grabbing the back of his leg.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: Look like a hamstring cramp, whatever.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Worked some stuff off on the sideline and then came back out.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Shane, why is Todd just playing with the twos?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: That was, he got some snacks.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_01]: It was funny because as soon as
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I tweeted that out.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: So they had a team period.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Then they go through fill goal.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Then they go back to team, move the ball period all kinds of different, you know, red zone.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Tondis was rep in all with two cent threes and making plays.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: He, Tondis was the most target ahead the most catches today of any player, which I was shocked.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it would be Debo again.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but Todd just played great.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really did.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I was like, dude, he's not getting any reps with the ones.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: And as soon as I said that, sure enough, next drive, he's out there with the ones still making plays.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, he should not be with the Luke Feral.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, bro.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Just know, he doesn't pass the eye test.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: He don't pass the vibe test.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: He don't pass.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: He don't pass anything.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: He really, he really,
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you got to keep them and I think he might be one of the better tight ends and yeah, you could probably block better than conscious, but like, like, have it like a zero or a guy that just takes so much away from the offense.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like a wet blanket out there, man.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just not fan not fan Tommy.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate the super chat.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my mic's going down.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: No names like John in me running the rock now.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's rough out there with the rotted backs.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're seeing 40 and 35 and like, I was like, oh, pardon None, they're bringing back William Floyd out there 40 at the rotted back position.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: Be it right me and Roger and joke and like what number they're going to give freaking Herper's given 21 like the first person to get to there's no more numbers.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: They gave him a fullback number.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's, it's a whole thing, man.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Legend in the chat, Park Dog, what's up, man?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your super chat, your generosity, your positivity, everything that you bring every day, man.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: So consistently great.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just stop and buy to show some love to a real one, what up, John, rep that back to work.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go, hey, man.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Go make your money, do your thing.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: We appreciate you, and so thankful.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: If you've ever had the opportunity to meet this, man,
- 22:21[SPEAKER_01]: in the flesh.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: She's freaking off the charts, dude.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just not but love and positivity.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: Just want to say thank you.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there we go.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy, don't sell yourself short.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: You got a name.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: This man has a name.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: His name is Robert Paulson.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy and Project Mayhem.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: We have no names, but that's what it is.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's rough out there.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough out there.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: So it will take that for what you will.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: So let's start.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: Now is the time.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go through the handy-dandy notebook.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this, Captain.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: I talked about you today, Captain.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody showed up.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_01]: They had a similar hat to you.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, dude, one of the best has that hat shed out to Captain Niner.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to hang out with you and see how it'll says Herbert was a draft crowd.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: I loved Herbert back in the day.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: He did not look spray.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: He did not look spray.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Tommy got it.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, fight club, baby.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Eric, those, nobody's getting bad.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're not bad.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: We only ban people from this channel if they attack individuals, not named Tommy.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: You can attack Tommy all you want.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's his love language.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: But whenever you go at people, and like understand, this is a family channel.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so if I start the show where I say, like, hey, we're going to let some stuff loose and warn you, but like, I want, I understand that people watch this show with their kids and drive to work with their kids in the car.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I try to be, I want this to be a family appropriate channel now sometimes post game shows and whatever else we go on rants and I make that known well before I do not like blocking people.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care if you disagree with me.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really care if you make fun of me, but you start going after people's personality.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: This ain't the place for that.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: There are channels where that is welcomed.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: But we're not doing that here.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah, first rule.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: we don't talk about a second rule.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: We don't talk about it.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry about that.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get kicked out.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the notebook.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited about this point returners the exact same.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's the same four to six guys and it brand boy or gets up there and talks about.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we, we've got these guys, Jacob Cowen's kind of locked down the job number four.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's he's out there getting work all the freaking time.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that he is the second best punt returner will Pauline.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Brandt boy, you're brought up, Jordan Walker.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walker's done getting near as many reps during indie specs, individual special teams.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's not out there returning puns.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: he's out there as a gunner and other stuff it like he's not a full-time punt returner when they're out there.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: So it's it's it is interesting to me.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of shocked that Brant Boyer mentioned Jordan Walkins alongside Jacob County and alongside Will Pauline because he's not in the rotation that would not be represented as such.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: Junior Bergen he's an afterthought kind of a lot of work is a wide receiver that happens when your top four wide receivers are out And 82 Irwin They were out there those are your punt returners still no debo work at kick return point return But that's what it is You know update in injuries obviously top four wide receivers out Caleb Black has an abductor.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be out Mike Evans out.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: So three of your four running backs are out and your top four wide receivers are out
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's a mess.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, striplings out to he's got some hamstring that goes to the strength of trading staff just terrible.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: I shade we officially hit the our pets heads are followed off point.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: It really is, man.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Harry, I took care of it of yeah, the equivalent of that is.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: put it a running back out there jersey number 40 take that for which one now one for one verse once one v ones I decided not to I wanted to pay as much attention to the backs linebacker safeties and then just because all the wide receivers were out and so they're on two separate fields so I tried to focus as much of my attention.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: on the backs and linebackers, but every now and then I peek over to the other field and see if I could catch a rep or two.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: But so like a lot of this today, I was like the top four wide receivers aren't even out there.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: So let's try to focus on the linebackers.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: All right, right off the bat, best first best.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Fred Warner out there.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: I get CFC.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: He runs a quick out, verse, Fred Warner.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Catches the ball, it was close.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: It was very good coverage.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: But it was a reception.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got a whip route by Kyle Usecheck against Drake Greenlaw again.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Got the reception contested catch.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: Probably could have thrown a flag on Jake Greenlaw.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: He was grab and tugging his jersey and all that stuff.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: 40 beat 45 on a quick out easy, that's probably going to be Nick Martin's biggest issue.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: Dude can't cover.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: not saying he can't cover at all, but it was just like do this do 40 Herbert, which was a receiving back with the bears.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of how he cut his teeth, but it's like do do just walked off the street today and he's looking slow way too much separation, but that's not where Nick Martin's going to shine.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's a run game blitz the quarterback.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a cover guy.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: You're not a cover guy, um, and I'm going to be really honest, like how you check catches it and I go, Jews, no, my else did it and I look around.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's watching the wide receivers and corners.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, you guys, you know, you know, whatever you got to do, uh, 17 deep out versus up and stout, uh, just absolutely perfect coverage.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: And the reception came down out of bounds, but I liked it.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: because it was somewhat of a contested catch, Jordan Walkins caught it, but he was out of bounds.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: There was a official over there.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: He waved in complete, but I was like, okay, Jordan Walkins?
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that was my main critique from the last practice, dude, you know, play strength.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: There is no like any of that stuff.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you've got to show some, any had a contested catch later on in team drills.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so Jordan Walkins, I love seeing that, man, major weakness.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hey.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: get some work.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's just one practice, but still the contestic catches our an issue.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: I have been his entire career, the college career now is in the NFL, obviously.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: You had Debo calling out people, and that Debo is going to Debo.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Him against Upton Stout, he runs an outrow and totally pushed off Upton Stout.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: But made an awesome tote taping catch on the sideline, which was a reception, but quality rep like just stud versus stud in any time.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Debo can get any type of separation against the stud corner.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: A 100% offense pass interference, but would they call that within, you know, so many yards.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, number zero baby agent zero out there just continues to stack great practices.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're not a green awesome pass break up almost interception out in the flats.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see who was against, but he's just staking his claim.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: Um, number six cooked number 28.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jacob Cowain, Dorel Luder Jr. Just not a practice player.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: Cowain looks clean.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: He just keeps putting.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: quality quality, quality reps up consistently.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: One V ones is kind of where he's going to shine because they're space.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's where it is.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's just awesome.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: 27 cooked by Irwin on a slant route from Come on, bro.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: Number four, Pauling.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: Great whip route.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing separation.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: I did not catch who he was going up against.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: 36 holding Marquis Seagull basically tackled the guy.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was pretty funny.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: Those were all of the reps on just 1v1.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: But what today being the heavy day of practice, it was going to be a heavy team day.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: So that wrapped up the, you know, just 1v1s out there in the past show.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the offensive line, the defense line didn't even go at it, because they don't have enough defense of linemen.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: Plus that's on the other side of the field, the vantage point.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't have from where my location is.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: So that wasn't there.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's get to team.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're going to any 49ers road game, you got to come party with us 49ers rushroadtrip.com.

- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: It trusts me.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build the 49ers community, you're traveling by yourself.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: We got you covered 49ers
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this, RTP was a Matthew.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: He says so used to sit right next to the training camp talking at all in your playback makes me feel like a miss to be yeah, man.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: Just haven't got those extra spots.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so I really do apply to the aid to save.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot harder.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: I miss it a lot compared to the way we just had the flow, man.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: But that's all right.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now we get to team ball.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: And All right, here we go.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey outside toss eight plus yards.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: could have been a lot more 27 was the alley player.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: He had a bad angle.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and you kind of thought up.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: And this was always my problem as a defensive coach is like, dude, it's thought up.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear your paths.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: We're not running behind and touching a waste.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: got to get this new situation situated goodness, like that is bad practice.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's bad habits.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: And the worst angle taker in maybe the NFL is jire Brown.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: So many miss tackles that don't register his miss tackles because he runs himself out of any even contact with, but like he's the alley play on this outside toss to see him see and he just loops out of the way and tries to extend his hand to touch him like, oh, I got him, but he didn't even touch him.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just like, God, like, we're teaching bad habits here.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: I understand you don't want them cracking.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Jai Brown's never hit anybody hard.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: But like, it's just, I see it in the coaching me is just like, dude, this is his problem.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, cutting front of him, killed a momentum, forced him to cut back.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it was just a coaching moment.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: I was very, I was hot because I've seen it so many times 27, just taking that stupid chicken angle, anyway, I was very, very upset.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: uh... anyway anyway that's what it is uh... all right next up seven deep crosser perfect from ten twenty plus yards uh... it was a nice pressure from cj west who he showed up a lot of pressures consistently but man it's a Marxist Robinson it doesn't matter
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: To Marcus Robison, it doesn't matter who the quarterback, once, two, three's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, don't care to Marcus Robison's the most consistent player in camp day in day out.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: last year to this year, just wherever number seven is, good things are going to happen.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's just what it is.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, 45 nice B-gap feel.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was the outside.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: It was flow away.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: He side-shuffled near foot shuffle in the hole, which was awesome.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: A player cut back boom right there for him.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing that Nick Martin that you want to see.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: Him having that,
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: run support plus the past rush.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: The run supports what's going to give a more play in time.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: The past rush is what submits his role.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to keep him on the field, right?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so Nick Martin, huge positive 55 blown off the ball by five yards.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's so like this, you know, got to be really, really honest, like I really, really like everybody likes this guy.
- 35:07[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: But the consistency has been his problem and Sebastian Valdez had three or four plays where it was like, oh, he was kind of close to the quarterback there.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of close to the backfield there.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's kind of close to that like that's what he does.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's the whole he has the explosion
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: But man, you know, this one play offense was coming towards my perspective and you see 55 Just get lifted up and push backwards.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, Oh, who the hell is that?
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, looking, but I'm behind the defense.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm looking through the safety's live backers, D line and trying to sort everything and eventually the crowd clears and gets who it was.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: Number 74, baby, get his snaps at right guard.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's Carver Willis, the rook, like in that match is the tape that we've seen.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis is a run blocking official nodo.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: He is.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to move you from point A to point B against your will.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: And Sebastian Valdez, he got that.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it is, it was a nice rep. And so then I'm like, oh, all right, Carver Willis, next place of run play or pass play is push back into the feed of the quarterback.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's the consistency at one side in this.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis, the rookie, amazing run blocker.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: That was going to translate.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: The lack of anchor in the lack of athleticism and traits that also is going to translate, especially getting kicked from left tackle to right guard.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, it's...
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: it's rough.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: And so the fact that Carver Willis, I haven't even seen him take snaps at the left guard spot.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like the people that were saying, Oh, Carver Willis has a shot at the left guard spot.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like dude hasn't even taken reps there.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't even lined up there.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's not even in the competition there, but you like seeing the positive.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: You like seeing the nasty.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: You like seeing that translate consistency.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a long time now.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: A long-term centers where Carver Willis is going to be.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think even if you had an entry at the guard position, even if you had two entries at the guard position, I don't even think he would get plain time.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be Robert Jones, Stepan in and Brett Toath, then Carver Willis.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a long-term developmental play.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's kind of why that that's the way I see it, but it was really cool seeing a blow up Sebastian Valdez.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: It was awesome.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: Next play D bow screen.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe for three yards, what much there, but the the conscientious effort to get the ball to 19.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: I understand it.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're top four wide receivers are out, like I even wrote down who the so for the first set of team.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: They came out there in 21 personnel.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey, Kyle used check in Luke Ferrell, right?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: So you're two backs, 21, one tight in.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: The first numbers running backs, the second numbers tight in.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: So CFC, Kyle used check, there's 20, the one, Luke Ferrell.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: And your wide receivers were depot in Jacob Cowling.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: Now later, when the team, when the one V1s,
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: They were in 21 personnel again in the wide receivers were to Marcus Robinson and Deba Samuel just start so kind of deal with that as you see fit I do think those are the top three wide receivers there were some fun fans beside me that were awesome great family.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they were kind of poking fun at Jordan walkins just lack of doing really anything didn't really get a lot of snaps, but there was one play and I have it in here a little bit later, where they ran a screenplay, a bubble screen to Debo and Jordan walkins had an awesome block against the corner.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't see what corner it was, but Debo kind of got freed up in what it had kind of a 15 yard play and a lot of it was because Jordan walkins just had a stellar
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: to reiterate, it is Jacob Cowling then a large gap to Jordan Walkins.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: I understand why people use them in the same sentence and kind of same tier, that has not translated through training camp, not in reps, not in rotation, not in special teams, not in wide receiver drills, not in one V1 drills, not in team drills, not in any drills.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowan is fully, fully distanced and I would almost argue, Jacob Cowan is probably a safe to make this roster.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: as there's going to be that's not a perennial probal guy.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now injuries will play a factor, but like I'm willing to take whatever bet you have that Jacob Cowen will make this roster.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's making it.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be on the team.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkins, I don't know.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walkins.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: I have not seen enough through rotation, coaches, belief in him, special teams, like, no, just no, not for me.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_01]: Very next play.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Cowen, nice catch.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, sorry.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was a very nice catch from Jacob Cowen.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was horrible pass for Mac Jones way behind them.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: but Coward's still pulled it in for like a gain of eight.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Probably would have been a gain of 15, but just a bad ball from Matt Jones, but Coward's still contorted his body backwards and like twisting, still made the catch fall into the ground.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: Debo run, not much, seven, yeah, here we go.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to Marcus for all of us, I love.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Every time I write seven down on my book, it's something good's happening.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: To Marcus Robinson, it was a play action boot from Brock Perti rolled out, you know, against to his left side, 12 yards, just a crosser drag route from to Marcus Robinson coming from the offensive right crossing behind the backers to the left.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you, you've seen the play a hundred times right you see it in your head, Brock Perti fake in the hand off boot now rolling, then you've got the mirrored route on top of it boom hit it perfectly just looks.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, just perfect.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect football.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's poetry motion.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan walk it's got it into round.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't go anywhere, but that was the play where Nick Martin put Luke Feral on his ass.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God, that was just all like you heard it.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: You saw it.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, whoa, just like sometimes you just got a chew chew.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go, baby.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh gosh, you just
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: but some things just take you back, right?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it doesn't matter if you're watching pop Warner, middle school, high school, college, practice, doesn't matter, NFL, Super Bowl.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_01]: You see somebody get lit up like a freaking Christmas tree?
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, whoo!
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, dude.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: God, that was awesome.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got stars of it.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have three exclamation points.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: Add two stars.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey inside zone huge run trend.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing block.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just created such a huge gap on the left side.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: Shocker run to the left works very, very well.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett, while almost had an interception.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a bad pass.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, this was, I struggled on this one.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't tell the quarterback where's the run, those black jerseys.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I could tell if it was Brock or, you know, 13 or 14.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: I could tell it was in there.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I just being honest, I don't want to attribute that to somebody in a negative way.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: It was one of those two.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: 88 play action boot post from 14.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty cool.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: The crowd loves them, the crowd freaking loves them.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: And rightfully so, low scottos, just making plays.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: Now it was a late pass.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the thing with Curtis work.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: Every single play, Curtis works in.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, dude, get rid of the ball.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, why are you still holding it?
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: Throw the ball, throw the ball, throw the ball.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: But you can't sack the quarterback in these drills.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: I almost all plays like, Adrian Martinez should be the quarterback three for now.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he really, really should.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: are in line with that rotation, is in line with that.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez is ahead of him.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: He just is.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_01]: He just is.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: Next play, Brock Party throw away.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: There was pressure in his face.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and on this one was kind of cool because they motioned out.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: They did a little empty package stuff.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so the 49ers were in a 43.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin had a motion out and covered the slot guy out in man coverage.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: It had good coverage.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just like, all right.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because, you know, he got, he got toasted in 1v1s, and so like it was like, okay, it's not like he can't cover Nick Martin quality coverage.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: And the pressure was great.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see who got to pressure was just such a mess jumble.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: But because the defense had their back to me.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: So you got to look through the offensive line and kind of see what's happening over there.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: But the coverage is I could notice Nick Martin was awesome and that's where Brock party looked first.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so he had to come off his first read pressure was in there.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: They just threw the ball away.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, next place, check down to Kyle use check, maybe four yards, uh, next play, Patrick Taylor Jr. Toss.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: He got so many snaps and 45 moved to Will on that play.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: So that, like, that was kind of interesting because you had the check down to Kyle use check.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's where Fred Warner, I went shirt if they sub to him out, or if he was shaking up.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so they kind of adjusted things and it was kind of like weird, like who's playing what, like trying to figure it out, then Tatum Bethton comes out and you had,
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, taking on Bethton at Mike, you had Nick Martin at Will, then they subbed in Jalen Grant like it was just I was like what's going on there, Fred Warner was shaking up on the side that that's what it was.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey got zero on an outside.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was a quick stop route.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: This was again back to.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_01]: The empty set.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: So they motion Christian McCaffrey out to the side.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: Renardo Green bumps out.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: Right on CMC and he just runs a quick hit route brought pretty hit catches it, you know, throws a perfect pass.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: CMC catches it gain a five, but it was just nice like Christian McCaffrey.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's doing anything to run out of greed.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's playing so damn well.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey it's a hits route like you're going to give that up, but it was just like best on best on best.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was a perfect anticipation throw from Brock arrive perfectly right outside shoulder safe location quick catch nice hands catch route from Christian McAfrey great coverage tackle from Ronald Green and it was just like okay.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: That is three just check check check.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: These three guys are playing very well and like everybody is happy with this play you know what I mean like you'll give that up as a corner.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: but it was just fun to see.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really, really liked it.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: Seven, you know, to Marcus Robertson runs a slant, Matt Jones hit some perfect, easy seven yards, Bryson Eason got a nice pressure.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then I've got stars everywhere.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: Braden Willis, catch to the day, fall in back, oh, Dale Beckham style, one handed, pulling it in, as he falls down.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, Braden Willis, got to give him props.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: Natori, it's didn't order and juice like,
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't see the perfect where it was off to the left.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have the best vantage point.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive right, my left side.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: It was just weird.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: There were guys up, helping each other, and so like I'm trying to like do this number, but I still like, I don't know.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot, I don't want to lie.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: I legitimately don't know, but he got back out there.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, how good is Connor Colby?
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: I keep hearing good things, but can give me a point of reference, like compared to Dom, how close are how much worse is he?
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they're they're they're not similar play style guys.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: I will say this, Connor Colby's biggest issue last year when he started as a rookie week one on the stunt retirection and so whenever we're breaking down guard tape for draft or whatever else like look there's certain things that you have to do to be a guard number one is anchor because you go one verse one verses three tech defensive tackles all the time.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: And these guys, you've got to be able to anchor against the bull russia.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's 300 plus pounds.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like you have to be able to do that.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: Number two, short area read direction, okay?
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: So think about a guard, let's say a left guard.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: Opening up to his left and past pro.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: You don't do a true kick side, like a tackle does, but you open up to the left and then they stunt inside.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: So you're opening up to your left side.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: You have to plant quick.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: shift down an anchor.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's that short-term quick area redirection.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was Conor Kobe's weakness.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: He could zone block.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: He had that down after being an Iowa.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: That was not an issue.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: Inside outside zone got that in spades.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: The problem was,
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: The past pressure in the 101 and the stunts coming his way, he didn't have an answer.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: He recognized it late and was always late getting there and he almost had to have brindle help to his side almost every single time.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: That was a problem.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: That is the area where Connor Colby has grown leaves and bouts.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_01]: that is the thing where it's like, oh, and a lot of this was, man, I don't even know what today is.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's Monday, Saturday.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it was Saturday.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was a Blitz package day.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: That was where you saw like, dude, he knows the answers to the test.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's finally figured it out.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's translating.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: Do I think Connor Colby's this goodest Dominique puny?
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: I do not.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that is.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby starting week one ladies and gentlemen.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's period outside of an injury, which we have to put those disclaimers on everything.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby is the starting right guard.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: There's not a rotation.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: There's not been a rotation at camp.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody has gotten first team reps with the offensive line at left guard besides 75.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: Fear the mole at Connor Colby has arrived.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going anywhere.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's his damn job.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's taking it from him.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: He can lose it.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's taking it from him.
- 49:42[SPEAKER_01]: And rightfully so yeah, the first team offensive lines doing their damn job consistently.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_01]: Second, third team online.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: No, Enrique Cruz.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: I watched him a couple of staff today.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, bro.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not it.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: He get he's not there yet.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to that is a project.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis is a project.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: So either fourth fifth round picks.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're not ready.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby's ready.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby is ready.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty pumped about 75, man.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_01]: Fear the mallet, fear the mallet.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here, Patrick Taylor Jr. Running back flare from Perti just to check down.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: And there was this, you know, five play kind of stretch where it was just like, check down, check down, check down, check down.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, from Mac and Brock Perti, where it was just like the defense,
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: seem to control kind of everything that was happening.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: Now it didn't result in turnovers or sacks and if they're going to be times and games where defensive lines control the game, but if you can get the ball out quick to your hot reads and your check downs and get any type of positive whatsoever, that is huge.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's so like, yeah, it's not exciting and it's kind of like a
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: negatives turn over sacks.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: Those are bad.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: Check downs for three yards.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: Live to play another day.
- 51:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's so what if you got three check downs in row and you got a punt.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know fans don't like it.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: I understand three and out suck, but you're not losing yards.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: You're not turning the ball over.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: If those are the negatives, you're going to win a lot of games.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: You don't score on every possession.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: No team ever does.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: They're weren't interceptions.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're weren't fumbles.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're were not
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're protected the ball pretty damn well.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: Maria, follow up, really glad to hear that about Kobe.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm rooting for him.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: I pumped about Tom and he pruning's awesome.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: Healthy I think he'll be an impact, let's go pruning.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last year played through the PCL, it took a while for him to get to that point where,
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is where he is.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is where he should be.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: He gets to pick up from that point.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: Brock pretty hit a jump pass.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_01]: Why not?
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get some of those Kyle Shanahan head shakes, you know, just he hates it.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: But Brock party does his jump pass with pressure in his face running against this thing to look fair.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'll got about five yards.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey and sides don't run to yards.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that that was when Fred fell down to.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's might have been when they bump their knee.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was weird, but anyway, green log got to stop on that one, Jake Tonchus whip route from Mac Jones really, really nice and then you got, you know, it kind of turned into the Jake Tonchus show where he had three or four catches.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: in a span of about six plays a even got a play from 86 man junior bergen out there nice and breaker versus the blitz 45 blitz off the edge parker he killed it
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: You hit the vacated spot to junior burkin.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: That was Adrian Martinez.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Tontis, nice outrout 10 plus yards.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: You had Adrian Martinez deep post to junior burkin.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect pass.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: Junior burkin dropped it.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: Wouldn't it easy catch?
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: But it was a perfect pass.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: Went off both of his hands.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: That would have been a 50 yard play.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Martinez got a freaking howitzer man.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: That too could throw it.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: And it's very rare.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_01]: whenever you get, you know, somebody that can.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: run faster than everybody and throw farther than everybody.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's Adrian Martinez.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like his arm is superior that everybody else on the 49er's roster.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: And he's such a better athlete.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_01]: You see, I'm just get out and space on those bootlegs and it's like, oh, just keep running for.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_01]: Just keep running.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, then they had the Eddie Pinearo fill goal time.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_01]: He missed one.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_01]: He went four of five.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: He missed one from about 50.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't count the exact yards.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: They moved to
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: but yeah, that's where they were.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, let's pause.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: I've got three more pages.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going anywhere.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going anywhere.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going anywhere.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: John, have you tried writing a strongly worded letter to the front office about the injuries, go full white chicks to whom it may concern?
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, I have not and I'm not going to.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want my opinion and I'm not going to give it to them and they can subscribe.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that they know the injury started whenever you moved from candlestick.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't start in 2017.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that you're doing any favors with your strength and conditioning staff and promoting from within from 2017 on, whenever you've been the most injured team in the NFL.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: You've been the most injured team through this 10 year period that any other team in an NFL history.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: That is not a scientific fact.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_01]: That is just my assumption, a strong assumption that I'd be willing to bet on.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: And you promoted from within, knob row, that ain't it.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: What would you say you do here?
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you guys want to support this show, which man, with the preseason coming up,
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: it is time for coaches tape.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of what we
- 55:17[SPEAKER_01]: hang our hat on.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: We got sorry because I'm former coach and so the idea was, man, why don't we do it?
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: I used to do this on YouTube before I got banned in season to cis letter from the NFL.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: Again, they do not want my opinion.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_01]: But like I used to break down coachy tape on YouTube, and just for everybody, but good to who would have guessed that was a big no-no, anyway.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_01]: They went after my money and whatever else.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_01]: So we had to move it behind to pay wall, and so that is the 49ers rush.com and our Patreon page, patreon.com slash the 49ers rush podcast.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_01]: You want to support us and see what we do.

- 56:11[SPEAKER_01]: We have the last three and a half years cataloged as soon as you sign up, you get every single game on there.

- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: I show you very similar to what I would do in my players after game day.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: We'd sit down and we go through the tape as a team.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and so we do that.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: So go sign up the 49ers rush.com or Patreon channel on the link in the description of this video.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: That is how I pay the bills trust me.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: You will like it.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: We have a seven day free trial.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: Go sign up.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_01]: See if you like it.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: And if you do stick around, if you don't cancel,
- 56:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's see here in my eyes it's you.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Next up, they did kind of a weird penalty period where they kind of started like it's first in 20 and so kind of just working on these long-term plays which you don't want to practice being in that segment, but anyway, it's what it is.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 57:15[SPEAKER_01]: Very first play to Marcus Robinson.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, huge, deep play is a deep boot, is a deep drag from Brock Perti, 20 plus yards easy.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: Just to Marcus Robinson, when you throw the ball to him, good things happen.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: Period.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_01]: Next play, Deepo Bubble Screen, 5 to 10 yards.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is the one Jordan Walkins had a really nice block.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_01]: Very next play after that, Diamond D'Orlanor had an awesome pass break up against the Marcus Robinson.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: Brock Perti, like it was tight coverage, he tried to fit it in there.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you could have looped it a little bit better and layered it over him, you would have had a chance he tried to rifle it in there.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_01]: Dimo closed it down.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: But it'd be a what have been a nice play, but nice pass break up from to Marcus Robinson.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: 53, and this was got a fun.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Doug are getting in with the defensive line.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: Very first day practicing on the edge route look good too.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: That like very nice pressure.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_01]: It is first couple plays out like he's got to stay there.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: You cannot move Kyle.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to keep them there.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: I really really hope that they don't like do pass the test.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where I was just like, too.
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: I like Romelo height and, you know, he was dealing with the cramps and kind of all that stuff, carted off whatever, you got to keep Kyle Dougher there, like you have these two super high twitched up whatever, and I'm just like, hmm, all right, Kyle Dougher, I think he's finally playing where he should be playing, and I'm just being honest.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_01]: 14 way behind the wide receiver was incomplete.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's Curtis work.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not a lot of positives from 14.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: Then they did read so period, which was hilarious.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like all the way on the opposite side of the field.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like I had the worst few ever.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_01]: So like take all this for a grain of salt.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Cow use check.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: Had an outrout and pushed out a bounce just on a little fullback flare route, he got stopped short of the in zone, Brock party throw away, Christian McCaffrey outside zone was very congested and didn't get much 27 pass break up first, conscious and man coverage.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: His best play the day by far, best play the two camps I've been at.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Tongis, very next play touchdown on an arrow route.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: Price thought got in.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_01]: This was three versus three's.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: He got a pass break up.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then 17 touchdown contested catch.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, that's Jordan walkins.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: Then Nick Martin had the limp hated that Sebastian.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: Valdez got a sack.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: Just blew up and wreaked crews.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, Sebastian Valdez playing defensive end.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_01]: and gets a sack like I get some reikaker like come on man uh... anyway anyway
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle used to check out a screen play worked really well.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of space would have got 10 yards.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: Then Larry worth got out there with the ones.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: I just love seeing that.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_01]: He looks the part, man.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_01]: I really like Larry worth you and you're out.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he has a chance to make this roster.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: But just the dire straits, the 49ers are in.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: OSA had an awesome pressure, nice play action for Yard Boot to Jordan Walkins.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: He started heating up a little bit.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_01]: Versediamador, the norr.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: It was very, very good coverage, but like, dude, I'm telling you, Jake Tondis looks the part.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_01]: Debo screen, then pass.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so like it was weird.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a double pass to Debo.
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: So you like you flared it backwards to Debo and he's looking to pass, but they were rotating the wide receivers and the wide receiver didn't know the play.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_01]: There were no wide receivers till the ball to so it just didn't work.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: But it was like, all right, cool.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to install some fun stuff just didn't work.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_01]: CMC inside zone for six plus Patrick Taylor Jr. outside and out route for five plus.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then right here, Jake Tonjus cooked 27 deep, but was overthrown.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_01]: What have been a 50R touchdown?
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Tonjus just had maybe five yards burnt.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: just overthrew him.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_01]: I hated it.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_01]: Then I wrote four is better than 14.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_01]: That was my last note for practice.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_01]: Four is better than 14.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's not close.
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so those are kind of my practice notes.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is what I saw today.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what are your overall assessments of camp after today?
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Tonjus needs to be a factor.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's a net positive consistently, whether it's with the first or second team, it doesn't matter what quarterback he's playing with, it doesn't matter whose gardener like guy does stuff.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's like I want consistency.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so to Marcus Robinson, Jake Tonjus, Patrick Taylor Jr. brings no explosion, but consistently positive.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like I like that.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, I, I don't know.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: Um, overall good practice.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see that I just get a much needed day off.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_01]: I wish they'd have three days off to be honest with you.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, right here.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, two spicy's price.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be playing this year.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, he is not.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be on special teams and depth learn only.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's, he is a long-term play.
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_01]: a long term play.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's where it is right here.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: Joe, well, I hope they play Kittle and Todd just together.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: Don't hold your breath.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: don't hold your breath.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: I wish they would too.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_01]: But this was fun.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you guys enjoyed it.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_01]: Tomorrow is the 49ers day off.
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_01]: We'll not be our day off.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: We'll continue.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_01]: We have two more installments of our countdown series where we count the roster 91 to 1 and also later this week.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be getting some bets up, which I'm super excited.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_01]: Some long-term bets with my bookies.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned for that.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: But that's going to do it for us today.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate everybody.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: You are the best of the best.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_01]: And have to take our producers, Corey Robbins, 40 iron stores, 365 and David Gill.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you guys as always.
- 1:03:20[SPEAKER_01]: And until next time, stay strong, faithful.
