After eight months on the streets of New Orleans, the Louisiana National Guard is packing up and heading home—120 troops will be gone by the end of August. Originally deployed in December with 350 soldiers to beef up security for New Year’s Eve after a deadly 2023 celebration, the mission was extended beyond Mardi Gras at the request of Governor Jeff Landry and authorized by President Trump.
