- 0:00Smillar Ahmad, Rahim, Assalamu Alaikum, and welcome back to
- 0:03another episode on the Arthur Mara Podcast.
- 0:06There's a brand new week. That means we're having a brand
- 0:09new conversation. And where do we begin?
- 0:12Ahmed, how on earth did you end up on this chair, Salaam
- 0:15Alaikum? Salaam because.
- 0:27Last time I spoke before you came, you were in bed laying
- 0:30down. I'm not going to lie.
- 0:33Yeah. Salaam Alaikum, everyone.
- 0:34Miss you guys. Hope you're well.
- 0:35Love you lots. Yeah.
- 0:38I was feeling sleepy, man. But you know, the hustle has to
- 0:41continue. You said that.
- 0:47Someone else said that, but it wasn't me.
- 0:50But no. Yeah.
- 0:51Look guys, we're not doing an episode next week and shot Allah
- 0:56this weekend. We have rising Dawn aftermarket
- 0:58event which we're looking forward to and we're looking
- 1:00forward to seeing lots of you there and shot Allah.
- 1:02But we know next week is going to be hectic.
- 1:04And also we kind of want to unwind if I'm honest, because
- 1:07it's been a crazy few days, few weeks.
- 1:10So we're not going to do an episode next week just because
- 1:12we haven't pre filmed. So I didn't want to film today,
- 1:16but said Ali, call me, he's like bro, Thursdays.
- 1:19We have to release on Thursdays. I was like, why we?
- 1:22Have to be consistent. Yeah, man, to be fair, we've
- 1:25done it. We owe it to them as well.
- 1:27I hope so, yeah. Al Hamdullah, we love, we love
- 1:29you guys a lot. So we we thought what would be
- 1:32nice to be honest because we hadn't like pre planned a topic.
- 1:40This is unplanned. So we thought the last time we
- 1:43did dilemmas like Reddit dilemmas was really nice.
- 1:46We went through a lot of talking points from the Shia Reddit page
- 1:50which shout to them and everyone contributing there.
- 1:52They they do great work. So we thought we'd check them
- 1:55out. Should we do?
- 1:56That's it indeed. Indeed.
- 1:58Should we start? Do you want to start?
- 2:00Let's go, shall I start? Yeah, go on, you start the 1st.
- 2:02One off you can I choose any I random or?
- 2:05Yeah, whichever you like. So there's no particular order.
- 2:08OK. I think we start with this one.
- 2:10Go on. So someone sent in a question to
- 2:14a merger and it's I, I think one that may be shocking to everyone
- 2:19because no one believes that, for example, family members
- 2:22could ever be separated or there is distance between them or they
- 2:26don't talk for many years. So I think this is something
- 2:27important that we go over. The question sent to the office
- 2:30is my mother left me since I was born 23 years ago and refused to
- 2:37see me. Now she has cancer and asks me
- 2:40to visit. I am refusing due to the
- 2:43psychological pain she caused and others are caring for her.
- 2:48It's my refusal, disobedience, what is my religious duty?
- 2:53And the amazing Sheikh, may Allah protect him, responds in
- 2:57this, he says, in the name of Allah the Most Highbes Menaha
- 3:00Rahman Rahim. The principle of connection.
- 3:04As a first point, Islam's general rule connect with those
- 3:08who cut you off. Your duty is to maintain ties
- 3:11and visit to the extent possible without causing yourself
- 3:15critical hardship of psychological harm, especially
- 3:19since others provide care. Yeah, the second point, visiting
- 3:24now may prevent future regret after her passing.
- 3:28Seeing her weak may extinguish your anger and heal you.
- 3:31It is an act of kindness, the Quran says, and to parents and
- 3:36to parents kindness and repel evil.
- 3:38By which is better point #3 the reward of righteousness is
- 3:43proportionate to the hardship. Being dutiful to a mistreatment
- 3:48to a mistreating parent stems from high faith and self
- 3:51struggle. At last Panama Tahala does not
- 3:54waste the reward of the doers of good.
- 3:58What's nice? Well, I'm reading it now.
- 4:01So just to understand correctly, this sister or brother saying
- 4:05says that my mother left me when I was born 23 years ago.
- 4:09She's got cancer now. Now she wants to see me.
- 4:11I don't want to see how. What do I do and respect to?
- 4:13She says for three reasons. You can't.
- 4:16Well, you should go back. Firstly, for connection.
- 4:18Secondly, to not have regret later and to try and find
- 4:20healing. Thirdly, that the reward lies in
- 4:23the hardship. I think that's quite wise if I'm
- 4:26honest. Firstly, obviously in my humble
- 4:28opinion, you know, each circumstance is unique.
- 4:31Everyone knows kind of what their boundaries and limitations
- 4:33are. It sounds like at a time towards
- 4:36the end of the mother's life, from the outside looking in,
- 4:38you'd imagine that maybe the mother's got regret or that
- 4:41she's got no one else to turn to or that she wants to close.
- 4:44You know, she's got something been been weighing on her.
- 4:46She doesn't want to leave this world without maybe closing it,
- 4:49having closure for her, which either might stem from
- 4:53narcissism and egoism for wanting to close that chapter
- 4:57and say, well, I I did my bit. I can die happy.
- 5:00Or there's genuine, which you'd want to believe, genuine
- 5:02sincerity in wanting to reconnect with their child,
- 5:05which you hope in Charlotte is the case.
- 5:07But it's tough, man, you know, at times like this, we refer
- 5:13back to what the Quran and the Ali Beta Ali and Salaam have
- 5:17said, You know, Sahifa Sajad dear #22 the right of the
- 5:21mother, Imam Sajad Ali Salaam says, and it's a long passage.
- 5:26I'll just, I'll read you the first line.
- 5:29The first line, the right of your mother, is that you should
- 5:32know that she carried you when no one else carried you, and she
- 5:35fed you with the fruit of her heart, that which no one feeds
- 5:38anyone. And she protected you with her
- 5:40hearing and her sight and her hands and her legs and her hair
- 5:43and her skin and all her other organs.
- 5:45She was highly delighted to do so.
- 5:48She was happy and eager during the harm and the pains and the
- 5:51heaviness and the grief, until the mighty hand of Allah
- 5:53Subhanallah expelled you out of her and delivered you out onto
- 5:56the earth. It carries on talking about the
- 5:58troubles that the mother goes through.
- 6:00I think that just goes to show that ultimately the mother has
- 6:03acted as a vessel, if nothing else in the life of this, this
- 6:07child, but as a vessel for their existence.
- 6:10You know, for that alone we are always indebted to our mothers,
- 6:13who may Allah protect and bless and reward them all for what
- 6:16they've done for us. You know, because even a mother
- 6:18who troubles you, who punishes you, who's unjust to you, you're
- 6:24still indebted to them. Of course, there's never a way
- 6:26to to repay the the fact that Allah has given you existence
- 6:31through your mother and the pain and the trials that your mother
- 6:33had gone through to carry you. And anyone who's got younger
- 6:37siblings, who's had children themselves, who's married and
- 6:40seen their wives go through childbirth, or for our fathers
- 6:43when they witnessed our mothers, like they will know that the
- 6:46process is not easy. So yeah, it's a tough one.
- 6:49But I also, So last thing I'll say there's wisdom as well from
- 6:52what the Sheikh has said, because he also said on the
- 6:54condition that there's no like, what's the word?
- 6:57I can't remember the word he used, but like, no irreparable
- 6:59psychological harm or something like that.
- 7:03He says, without causing yourself critical hardship or
- 7:08psychological harm. I think that's really wise.
- 7:11I think that's really, really wise because he's, you know,
- 7:15he's showing that there has to be a limit.
- 7:17Like you can't just say it's one rule for everyone.
- 7:20Yeah, I mean, I mean like when I, when I think of it, like when
- 7:23I read this and as you're talking, I'm thinking about
- 7:25firstly, I understand it is probably a very difficult
- 7:29situation to be in because if you feel like your own mother
- 7:32has abandoned you for all of these years, 23 plus years, and
- 7:35only now she's requesting of you to come see her, where were you
- 7:39all this time? So there's a lot of things I
- 7:41think happening in the mind of the sister here, but in all
- 7:44honesty, and our mothers, their status, like it's, it's, it's,
- 7:50it's crazy. I remember just the other day I
- 7:52was talking about how much our mothers do for us, some of the
- 7:57brothers who are here behind the scenes.
- 7:59And I remember I was telling them when we were young.
- 8:01I remember, like in my in my family, if I come to my mother,
- 8:05for example, I had for example, different appetite of what I
- 8:10want to eat. My other sibling had like she'll
- 8:13make sure we we all catered for for its own one level.
- 8:15There's so much that we don't think about that over the years.
- 8:19If it comes to this opportunity, God forbid and the the chef did
- 8:22mention for example if she passes away, there may be a
- 8:24regret. Of course, yeah.
- 8:25I think that is, that is, that is, that is, that is a big thing
- 8:28to think about. And from the aspect of, let's
- 8:31say a clock, she asked the question, what is my religious
- 8:39duty? And I think the fact she asked,
- 8:42should I visit? And what is my religious duty?
- 8:44She does want to see her mother. I think she does want to close
- 8:47any open wound. I think she'd probably just
- 8:50wants to get an understanding of what went wrong.
- 8:51And I think it's an opportunity like you should go.
- 8:54You should visit your mother. And remember, Jenna's beneath
- 8:57the feet of your mother, no matter how much they may have
- 8:59wronged you, right? I know in our religion, when it
- 9:02comes to, for example, even if we have kuffar parents, you
- 9:07still show kindness. You still don't say off to them
- 9:10they are your parents at the end of the day, whether even if you
- 9:13have Muslim parents, there are things that you don't listen to
- 9:17them when it's against religion, but you still have to show
- 9:20kindness. Tough you still.
- 9:21Listen to them, you look out for them, you care for them.
- 9:25And I will say one thing with mothers, it's I don't know if
- 9:28it's suitable to say, but for example, I've I've heard this
- 9:32statement being said before and I think I'll mention it.
- 9:34It's someone once said, for example, a wife can be replaced,
- 9:41a wife can come, a wife can go, a mother can never be replaced.
- 9:46She will always remain your mother.
- 9:49That's true. Her son and your her daughter,
- 9:52no matter what happens. Yeah.
- 9:55So it it just I I don't know. I'm not in that situation.
- 9:58Yeah, this is the thing. God.
- 9:59Forbid any of us fall in that situation.
- 10:01No, of course. Do you know what it is?
- 10:03It's like obviously the, the person's young, they're 23.
- 10:06Like when you're young, you're, you know, you've got the
- 10:08adrenaline, you, you're, you may have a, a hot temper.
- 10:11I mean, I know I was like like that more so when I was younger
- 10:16with my anger, my lack of tolerance.
- 10:18And Charlotte, hopefully I'm getting there, you know, to to
- 10:21not have that as well anymore. But you know, like a lot of the
- 10:26time you hear the difficulties people have with their mothers.
- 10:32I have AI have two friends that come to mind right now.
- 10:35Yeah, one of them is a celebrity.
- 10:39Like, I mean, huge. Like, huge, huge, huge
- 10:42personality. Not just within the shell world,
- 10:45like globally. OK, He's a huge, well known guy.
- 10:49And he opened up to me one day and he told me about his
- 10:51challenges with his mother. He's like, my mother is a
- 10:54narcissist. She inserts herself in
- 10:57everything I do. She commands everything I do.
- 11:00She tries to control everything I do.
- 11:02And he's telling me like, I can't escape it.
- 11:04I don't know what to do bro. Like these situations are not
- 11:08easy to manage. And another person I can think
- 11:11of told me about his difficulty in settling down with a spouse
- 11:18because of his relationship with his mother and his parents in
- 11:21general. But how you know that kind of
- 11:23has been a hurdle for him. And then you think in these
- 11:26cases for some people Allah has kept the mother, like perhaps
- 11:30for this child away, perhaps for a blessing or an unknown reason.
- 11:35It could be a test it. Could be a test and every test
- 11:38is also a blessing. Like the chef says, the hardship
- 11:40is the reward is in the hardship.
- 11:43But ultimately, I think whether your mother or your father or
- 11:46anyone like that is with you or not, you, you have to remain
- 11:51patient. So if you're the presence of
- 11:53your mother is a test for you, remain patient.
- 11:55If the absence of your mother is a test for you, remain patient.
- 11:58Do you know what I mean? So it's something that we all
- 12:01have to remind ourselves and also to remind ourselves not to
- 12:04become parents like that, You know, like for those of us who
- 12:08are young enough to inshallah one day get married and one day
- 12:12have children, you know, we will have to train ourselves from
- 12:15young. I remember when I was 18, I was
- 12:16at a lecture and the respected Sheikh, I remember he said how
- 12:22many of you in this? There's about 1002 thousand
- 12:24people in the hall. It was huge, huge hall.
- 12:27He goes, how many of you in the hall are 18 specifically, not 17
- 12:30or 1918. And I put my hand up and like
- 12:33maybe seven or eight people in the whole hall put their hands
- 12:35up and he goes, you guys, he goes, you guys have to start
- 12:40your parenting journey from today.
- 12:42That's a solid advice. Yeah, I was like, wow.
- 12:45And that hit me then. I was 18 and Hamdullah became a
- 12:48parent a few years later. But yeah, man, like you, we we
- 12:52always have to challenge ourselves how we're going to be
- 12:54good parents. Should we move on?
- 12:55Santia, let's move on. Let's move on.
- 12:57All right, cool. Shall I read one out?
- 12:59Go on. Should have got one.
- 13:01OK, cool. I'm going to read 2 out.
- 13:03I think they're kind of similar. One of them is Salaam Alaikum.
- 13:07Where and how can I gain more knowledge?
- 13:09As someone who's converted to Shiah Assalam, how can I
- 13:11increase my knowledge? I've listened to a lot of
- 13:12lectures. I took a lot of evidence.
- 13:15I've made me see the truth of Hamdullah general.
- 13:19Kind of moving on a second one. Similarly, I'm interested in
- 13:22converting to Islam but I'm also confused about the difference
- 13:24between Sunni and Shia because someone guide me through this.
- 13:28I want to start by saying that I had a message like this recently
- 13:31kind of from a friend who recently became Shia and he said
- 13:35to me that since he's become Shia, his non Shia friends, his
- 13:38Sunni friends and non-muslim friends are asking him why Shia
- 13:43and why the difference between Sunni?
- 13:44What's the difference between Sunni and Shia?
- 13:46So I want to ask you to clarify that and then we can talk about
- 13:49how to increase our knowledge and our Iman and our in once you
- 13:55have found Willaya and the truth.
- 13:57So what are the primary differences, would you say, to
- 14:01answer these questions between the Sunni and the Shia schools
- 14:04of thought? And when it comes to the
- 14:07differences of the Sunni world and the Shia world, there is a
- 14:10lot. Some may argue with only a few,
- 14:12but I think if we just focus on the core foundation things here,
- 14:17which is our solid Deen, for example, when we talk about
- 14:19tahrid, adala, nabuwa, imama, miyad, yama piyama, there's a
- 14:24lot of similarity, but there are differences in how we interpret
- 14:28these, right? So when we come to the tahrid of
- 14:30Allah, the oneness of God, the justice of God, does God has,
- 14:34does God have a form? What is his VAT safat and that
- 14:40and what are all his attributes and things like this?
- 14:43There isn't that much differences, but between both
- 14:46the schools there is a clear distinction between a difference
- 14:51being there existing, right? So that's one.
- 14:53Number two, when we come to the Nabuwa, we all believe in the
- 14:56same prophets, the same number of prophets.
- 14:59Rasulallah sallallahu alaihiwala is the final messenger of Allah.
- 15:04However, for example, when it comes to the iceman of
- 15:06Rasulallah, is he Masoom, Can he make mistakes?
- 15:10Is he infallible? There is differences there.
- 15:13We believe he is when it comes to, for example, the Imama.
- 15:17Now this is something very important to us when it comes to
- 15:19our school, for example, these are what we believe are the
- 15:22successes to us when Allah, Muhammad Salallahu Ali, Hawaii
- 15:25Wasallam appointed and chosen directly by Allah, Azza Wajal as
- 15:30Hodja on this earth, as his hodja, because we read in the
- 15:32Quran, for example, I have installed a hodja on this earth.
- 15:38And when we come to, for example, our literature, our
- 15:41hadith, if there is no Imam and maybe we speak about Imam
- 15:45medicine, if there is no living Imam, this earth won't exist.
- 15:49I'll stand. There's a narration by Imam Asad
- 15:51Ali Salaam where he says if for a moment, for a second Aslan
- 15:55that the Hodja is not on this earth, the earth will swallow
- 15:59all its inhabitants. And to that extent and then we
- 16:01can come for example to the Kiyama resurrection, judgement
- 16:06day, death, Achara, the her afterlife.
- 16:09Some differences but majority is all the same.
- 16:12However, when we come to things like Farooq, Adin, Salah, Som,
- 16:17Hajj, Zakat, again similar but there are differences as well.
- 16:21And there people can argue they're minor but 50 wise.
- 16:25I think it depends where do you want to get your sources from?
- 16:29Directly into the very individuals that Allah Subhanaw
- 16:33Taala chose for us, as guides just for us, As for judge on
- 16:37this earth for us. So it all depends.
- 16:40However, I would say one thing and I don't think there is time
- 16:42for me to go into too much detail.
- 16:44If we just look at a saying by Imam Ali, Ali has Salam Amir al
- 16:47Muhammadin. When someone came to him at the
- 16:49battle of German and answered my question, he says, for example,
- 16:53your side is calling towards alas of Panama to Allah and so
- 16:56was the side of Valhan Zumaer, right?
- 17:00Where do I stand? Who's on who, who, who has the
- 17:03truth at the end of the day? And the the Imams replied to him
- 17:07something so beautiful. He said don't look at the people
- 17:11to find the truth, seek the truth and you will know its
- 17:15people. Yani where that is one example
- 17:19of how eloquent and how godly and spiritually Imam Ali, Ali as
- 17:24Salaam can speak to that level. Yani, I don't know where else
- 17:27you want to go, so I don't want to take the conversation in that
- 17:29direction. But somebody asks, for example,
- 17:32how can I learn more about the school of Alibeit, Shia Islam,
- 17:37What you guys are all about? I think very simple if you live
- 17:43close to a local parsenia, to a mosque, to a Masjid, knock on
- 17:48the door. Yeah.
- 17:49Go speak to a learner chair for respected Molana and ask them
- 17:53the questions I need. I I think if you want to learn
- 17:56about Islam, firstly you have to get your AKA there in check.
- 18:01But once you do that because you're told, hey, it has to come
- 18:03from you. You can't get it from anyone
- 18:04else. You have to believe that Allah
- 18:06has one. Allah is able to say be and it
- 18:09will be like all of this, this comes from you.
- 18:11It's from your own fatwa. You can't get that from anyone
- 18:13else. But if you want to get the right
- 18:15answers to the questions you may have, concerns, doubts,
- 18:20misconceptions, you have to ask the people of London.
- 18:24I would say listen to the aftermath of podcast.
- 18:26Well, you never know mate. No, I agree.
- 18:30Obviously it comes down to epistemology as well.
- 18:32I know somebody did ask you once.
- 18:34Well, where they said where can I learn more about to share your
- 18:39what did you what did you require?
- 18:40I did the same thing. So we kind of talked about the
- 18:43foundations of Sula Dean and the differences.
- 18:46But again, look, it comes down to epistemology.
- 18:48So whether you determine whether something is something which is
- 18:56a grave difference or like a major difference or not comes
- 19:01down to what your personality is, your view, your perspective
- 19:04on the world is, and so on. So if you're more
- 19:06philosophically inclined, you'll believe that understanding God
- 19:13and understanding God's oneness and trueness and so on, it takes
- 19:18precedent over, for example, details which are more
- 19:21technical, like how I wash my arms during war or not, for
- 19:25example, if you're more mystical.
- 19:27Not that it's not important, but that's not the first step is
- 19:29what you're saying. No, I'm not saying anything.
- 19:31I'm saying that people interpret based on their epistemology and
- 19:35their ideology, what sort of personalities they are.
- 19:37All right, So if you're more mythically inclined, you're more
- 19:41Alfani and whatnot, you'll say, look, Islam is about what's in
- 19:44the heart. Islam is about your love and
- 19:47your proximity to to Allah. Who cares who you follow this,
- 19:50that what books you read. This is what people would say,
- 19:53right? You'd have others who are more
- 19:55literary, right? And they would their literalist
- 19:58approach to religion may mean that no, we follow things by the
- 20:02words and the guidance of the Quran and the other debate what
- 20:05they say is that's that doesn't matter if your morality or your
- 20:09personality inclines with it to squeeze with it or not, for
- 20:12example. And then finally, you might have
- 20:14people who are more theologians. And Motukalami in their
- 20:18approach, and they might have a more like standardised approach
- 20:20to religion. The point being is that
- 20:23ultimately on paper, those are the main differences.
- 20:26Then the question comes, how do I learn more?
- 20:30Right? Yeah.
- 20:31So look, there's 2A hadith which I wanted to read really quickly.
- 20:34One is from Bahar Al Anwar, Bailal Majesty Ali, Prophet
- 20:38Muhammad Sallallallahu Alaihiwale says the virtue of
- 20:41knowledge is more beloved with Allah than the virtue of
- 20:45worship. That knowledge can be more
- 20:48beneficial than Ebada, which is a huge statement.
- 20:52Which again comes back to my point on it's epistemology where
- 20:56if someone values the knowledge at the ailment of artifa of
- 21:00something, it can be worth more than ritualized parroting
- 21:04worship. You know what I mean?
- 21:06Obviously Allah knows what was worth more in reality, right?
- 21:09What the Holy Prophet I believe is trying to say is my own
- 21:11interpretation is that if you're genuinely and sincerely seeking
- 21:14knowledge, it may be worth more than repeating your praise like
- 21:18a parrot and reading your your das mindlessly.
- 21:21Do you see what I mean? There's another hadith from Imam
- 21:24Sahjada Sulu Karfi where he says Ali Salaam were people aware
- 21:28with were people aware of what lies in the obtainment of
- 21:31knowledge? They would pursue it even though
- 21:34they had to make voyages and endanger their lives to obtain
- 21:37it. Bro, the Imam Ali Salaam is
- 21:41saying that if you knew what goodness comes from seeking
- 21:44knowledge, even if you had to risk your life, you'd do it.
- 21:48Just what I'm saying like it's, it just goes to show that we in
- 21:52this day and age, with our access, with our knowledge, with
- 21:56our like the the ease that we have, the speed which we have to
- 22:02be able to attain knowledge and we're still slacking.
- 22:06We have no excuse. I want to shout out those who
- 22:09are actually doing that. So the Riva brothers and
- 22:11sisters, you know, there's a hadith, Imam Salah Alayhi
- 22:14Salaam, where he says those who enter the religion through men
- 22:17will leave the religion through men.
- 22:19And those who enter the religion through the Quran and the Sunnah
- 22:23will not leave it. And the mountains will fall to
- 22:25their feet and they will be victorious.
- 22:27I'm paraphrasing from what I remember.
- 22:29We've mentioned this on the podcast before and I feel like
- 22:33that Hadith is so beautiful because that to me speaks
- 22:37volumes about those who find the religion through the Quran and
- 22:40the Sunnah, believe in it through the Quran and the
- 22:42Sunnah. Our Rivet brothers and sisters
- 22:44are an inspiration to us for that, right?
- 22:47You know, there's a brother Gunner Prince, I believe on
- 22:50TikTok. Shout out to him doing
- 22:51incredible work. He streams recitation of the
- 22:55Holy Quran and it's beautiful. Masha Allah, He's been doing
- 22:59great work. And you know, shout out
- 23:00hopefully when he's in the UK, we'll jump on a pod together.
- 23:04And there's so many others who are doing incredible work.
- 23:06And it just goes to show that the search, the journey, the
- 23:10toils and the the troubles that come with learning about Islam
- 23:15and Shia Islam is, is difficult. You are a minority in the Muslim
- 23:20world, but it's never not worth it.
- 23:22And that's very beautiful. You know, when you see like
- 23:24converse and reverse when they come towards Islam, it's like
- 23:28like sometimes when you hear their stories of how they found
- 23:31Islam or how they fell in love with the, with Islam, or it's,
- 23:37it's just like so unique my life.
- 23:40It makes you wonder like Hamdallah, we were lucky to be
- 23:43born in many ways through this religion and on the path of
- 23:47Ahlil Beit and on the Malaya, Bamir and Mumminin and on the
- 23:50love of Raswal Allah, Muhammad Sallallahu Aliwali Wasallam.
- 23:53But these people wasn't born like that.
- 23:55Like what, what, what took them to that stage?
- 23:57And sometimes you feel like they felt they were lost.
- 24:00You know, they say I'm, I'm lost.
- 24:02I don't know what's my purpose in this Dunia.
- 24:05You know, I'm drinking and I'm just going out and I'm clubbing,
- 24:08but I'm empty. My soul is empty.
- 24:11And the soul was searching for something, for fulfillment, for
- 24:14contentment, for Sakuna at the end of the day.
- 24:16And they found that with this love.
- 24:18Bro, humans need this man. Humans need identity, they need
- 24:21communion. They need relationships.
- 24:23They need a sense of belonging. And the beautiful thing about
- 24:26Islam is, even if you're alone, you have a loss of part.
- 24:28Of course, that means you're never alone.
- 24:31Yeah, we need to get to a point where we are so content with
- 24:35being alone that we appreciate it and we, to a degree are eager
- 24:41for it. So, for example, like, and I
- 24:43know this is where I need to get to as a person.
- 24:46I know that I need to get to a stage where my alone time is my
- 24:51sanctuary, and I use my alone time in the most like beneficial
- 24:58and the most productive ways possible.
- 25:00So I know my alone time. For example, let's say
- 25:03theoretically I get one or two hours alone time a day in
- 25:06theory, right? How do I use that alone time?
- 25:08I might have to spend sometime doing for example, admin or
- 25:12housework or this or that, but something to progress and keep
- 25:15my day-to-day life working. But then recreationally, what do
- 25:18I do? Am I reading, am I learning a
- 25:20language? Am I reading about the Quran and
- 25:22the the hadith? Am I exploring new avenues of
- 25:26knowledge? Because you know, there's
- 25:28something very wise. If I'm not mistaken, Sheikh
- 25:31Wahid Khurasani, I read something a few days ago which
- 25:34was really profound. Sheikh Wahid basically said
- 25:36that, and I'm, I'm, again, I'm paraphrasing.
- 25:39I don't want to kind of put words in anyone's mouth.
- 25:42He basically alluded to the point that life is so short and
- 25:47the world of knowledge is so large, you will never, ever,
- 25:52ever be able to encompass everything, of course, ever,
- 25:56right? Forget even everything.
- 25:58Becoming a master at one element of knowledge in itself is like
- 26:03nearly impossible. So all you can do is just try
- 26:05your best. Even for example, for our Shiuk
- 26:08and our Alema, the Allahu award them all.
- 26:11For those who are seeking knowledge, a lot of them you'll
- 26:14realise will specialise in an area of knowledge because
- 26:17they'll know that I can't become a master of everything, right?
- 26:20There's only one master of everything who's alive and who's
- 26:23our Hajjah like you mentioned? And he's the only one who has
- 26:25complete ILMAL haib, as we believe that Shia, the Imams
- 26:29have ILML haib. And that is our Imam currently,
- 26:32Imam Mithiya Jala to Alafa Sharif, who of course, we
- 26:35celebrate his birth in the coming days.
- 26:37But as fallible human beings like you and me, bro, we can't
- 26:40do that, man. We just do our bit.
- 26:42We pick up the book, we read what we can.
- 26:44We study how we can. You know, we learn from others.
- 26:47I read a hadith earlier as well. I can't, I don't know where I
- 26:49read it. I read a hadith earlier today,
- 26:51Subhanallah, which was basically talking about the importance of
- 26:54seeking knowledge from people and sharing knowledge with
- 26:57people, right? So it's, you know, it can't end,
- 27:01it can't end. But let's move on bro.
- 27:02Because, you know, I'm feeling like a nerd now talking about
- 27:05these books. No, it's good, a good reminder.
- 27:07It's making me think of how much important, how much we need to
- 27:09pursue the knowledge as well. And the more we think we know,
- 27:12the more we realize we don't know.
- 27:14And that's the beauty of having, for example, the holy earth and
- 27:16Beit our mums. Yeah, man, you.
- 27:18Know what we we do this thing, yeah.
- 27:22If Shah Al Zahidi behind the screen, Zahidi.
- 27:25If Zahidi. If Muhammad Zahidi was to ask me
- 27:28name me the 2008 Liverpool squad, I'll be able to name it
- 27:33for him. Yeah, but if he was to ask me,
- 27:37name me your top ten favorite hadith from Al Kafi A proud.
- 27:42Struggle. Name me, tell me about the tat
- 27:45wheel of the sauras, of the verse in the Quran or a verse
- 27:48from this saura. I struggle, bro.
- 27:51Do you know what I mean? I think, bro, like I've been
- 27:53born into this. I've been raised into this.
- 27:56It should be ingrained in me. It should be the blood in my
- 27:58veins should be breathing this. But you know, it's not.
- 28:01So we need to get to that point. This is all I believe in.
- 28:06So yeah, man, back on. Next one.
- 28:10Yeah, next one. All right, there's one here.
- 28:12It says Salaam Alaikum. Are there shit are denominations
- 28:15that don't believe in the Mahdi? Shia denominations that don't
- 28:21believe in the Mahdi. There isn't a single Muslim
- 28:24sects that can't believe in the Mahdi.
- 28:27It's part of it's part of parcel of everyone's belief in that
- 28:30there will be an Imam who comes from the lineage of Rasul Allah,
- 28:34Muhammad sallallahu alaihi Wali wasallam, named after Rasul
- 28:37Allah, who will come back at the end of time, right?
- 28:39In fact, not even Islam. There's other religions that
- 28:41believe in the Messiah who will return everything but Hamdallah
- 28:44in our school for us. He's alive, he's breathing, he's
- 28:50we can speak with him, he can listen to us and we can say that
- 28:54comfortably because we can bring evidences that all of this
- 28:58existed in our in our sect, right?
- 29:00But then there comes a question, for example, where is the there
- 29:03comes a question, for example, OK, we have a hadith that say he
- 29:07may come during this time. Where is he now?
- 29:09Is he even born? There are people out there
- 29:11question is he even born yet, right?
- 29:14There is different, I think, elements when it comes to how
- 29:18people see Imam and Mehdi, Ajalata, Allah, Faraja.
- 29:20But in the Shiite school of thoughts and all our differences
- 29:23of schools when it comes to, for example, Zaidi and all of these
- 29:26people, no, we all believe in Imam and Mehdi.
- 29:30Am I right? Yeah, am I right?
- 29:31Absolutely, absolutely it's. But can I just add one thing
- 29:35actually just on the, because the question came to the Shia
- 29:38and I, I, I think, I don't know if they were asking it because
- 29:41they were trying to see if we can prove that Imam is alive,
- 29:43for example. But even if you go back, let's
- 29:46say to the Sunni world, the amount of narrations and
- 29:51reports, the hadith that back Imam and Mehdi majority come
- 29:56from the Sunni world. The Sunni world has more
- 29:58literature and reports about the 12th, the 12th Imam more than
- 30:02the Shia. Yeah.
- 30:03And if you think about it, I'll send you guys back, back, back
- 30:06him up more than we we we can, we can come say, but we can, we
- 30:09can back out from our own sources and handle out.
- 30:10But you have enough out there in your books.
- 30:13I saw thousands of heaviest more than we do about Imam and me.
- 30:16Let me ask you a question Zaid. When Allah says that always
- 30:20going to be a Hajj on earth. Imam and Metti's sister is hakab
- 30:23in Yakub. The benefit you gain from me
- 30:25during the occultation is like the benefits of some behind the
- 30:27clouds. What does that?
- 30:28Mean no separation. Yeah, I know.
- 30:31But what benefit do I gain, for example, today?
- 30:36So I'll tell you what I think. So I think that we believe in
- 30:38our I'm. Generally not understanding your
- 30:40question. No.
- 30:40So for example, in our corpus, we believe that the Imam prays
- 30:44for the Ummah and that the Imams Imam is consistently in a state
- 30:48of, of guiding the and we can't understand how he does that, but
- 30:53his Dar and his existence uplifts and protects the Omar.
- 30:57And the Omar, if you're an optimist generally, and if
- 31:00you're an optimistic like theologian or whatever, you'll
- 31:03believe that the Omar is always like guided towards truth and
- 31:06Huck, because it has to prepare itself for a world where the
- 31:10Imam comes right, rather than like a more pessimistic point of
- 31:13view, which is that almost guided towards falsehood such
- 31:16that then the Imam has no choice but to reappear.
- 31:18Do you get me? Which I don't believe is the
- 31:20case. I'll give you an example.
- 31:21If we would say let's, if we would say, if there is no Hajj
- 31:24right now, what do we do? Yeah.
- 31:27Everyone makes their own rules, everyone interprets their own.
- 31:30The fact that there is a system in place and we say I lost upon
- 31:33a Matala, you know, the one who created everything in utmost
- 31:36perfection and he's not going to leave an Imam for us to guide us
- 31:41to the top for us that we maybe not us ourselves.
- 31:45It's our high-ranking Olama, our previous predecessors of
- 31:49scholars and everyone you tell me they couldn't have a
- 31:52relationship, they couldn't ask questions.
- 31:53Imam and Mehdi, all of these things, they exist.
- 31:56As I said early on, our sins prevent us from reaching him and
- 31:59that's our fault. And the fact that we can't see
- 32:01the Imam, if I go back to my first point, is that it's a test
- 32:04for us, a test us in our belief in Allah's Panama, to Allah
- 32:08believe in the system that he left for us.
- 32:13Because if I say now, for example, there is no Iman, there
- 32:16is no guide, a lot, God forbid, Rasul Allah, you know, left this
- 32:22world and never appointed any imams or any Hodges for us.
- 32:26Look at the world today. Yeah, look at it's a complete
- 32:29mess. It's more.
- 32:29Than that as well bro. It's also the fact that Islam
- 32:31is. Not you wouldn't know where you
- 32:33stand with heart, you wouldn't know where you stand morally,
- 32:35wouldn't know where you stand ethically, wouldn't know where
- 32:37you stand in all aspects of not just your Dean.
- 32:41You know, you know what, I, I, I say, you know, going kind of
- 32:43going back to that thing about the differences between Sunni
- 32:46Islam and Shia Islam, I really don't want to get cancelled, but
- 32:49I'm going to tell you what my honest point of view is.
- 32:52I believe it's worth again, Shia Islam does not live in the past.
- 32:57I believe Sunni Islam lives in the past.
- 33:00Yeah, right. And you can back that.
- 33:02Right, because in the point being is that for them after the
- 33:05Holy Prophet Muhammad, like you said, there's no yeah, that's
- 33:07disfoluble hajah. And you're relying on.
- 33:10You know, Tabin or taba? Tabin, but that's it.
- 33:13Do you get me? Yeah.
- 33:14The first, second and third generations of the companions
- 33:16after the Holy. Process.
- 33:17I think that's limited just to Salafis, by the way.
- 33:19Not even just that bro, the Sahaba and the the Khalafa
- 33:23Rashidun and all of that. Like, OK, fine, the early
- 33:26generations of Islam are guides, but they're not infallible.
- 33:29Khalas. Yeah, Anishinu, what then?
- 33:32For example, I think with the Shia, in my humble opinion, the
- 33:36Quran tells us learn from history, read the stories that
- 33:39cost us right. We know that from the books and
- 33:42from our our our holy books. But we're a religion, a belief
- 33:47system of the present and the future.
- 33:49And that is because of Imam and Mehti.
- 33:51Like for example, we live our lives in the present based on
- 33:57the world we want to create in the future.
- 34:00We believe that the future will hold XY and Z, and because of
- 34:05that, we live our lives in the present, the way we believe we
- 34:08want the future to look. Do you understand?
- 34:10So we're not looking back in the past and limiting it to that.
- 34:12We're believing that something in the future is coming.
- 34:15We're preparing, actively building towards it.
- 34:17We're always talking in our programs about how the world
- 34:20should be, how the world should look, what human beings should
- 34:24be like, what Muslims should be like, rather than solely just
- 34:28saying the humans of the past were like this.
- 34:31We need to go back to them days. That is incredibly important.
- 34:35And if anything, we we spent time talking about the the need
- 34:38for research and knowledge and look learning and so on and so
- 34:41forth. But at the same time, it's a
- 34:42religion of activism preparation.
- 34:45You learn and then you apply. You apply for what purpose you
- 34:48apply for the future. You apply for the preparation of
- 34:51the Imam. We believe as as Muslims that
- 34:54the Allah didn't leave a 1400 year gap, like from 124,000
- 34:59prophets beginning of time from Adam to Muhammad.
- 35:02You had Ahuja on the earth, you had a guide on the earth, you
- 35:04had a Nabi or an or or a Sul on the earth.
- 35:07Yeah. And then just randomly, the last
- 35:090.1% of the world's existence, the last one to Allah was like,
- 35:13yeah, you guys don't need anything, You're good.
- 35:15OK. But knowing all of this, by the
- 35:16way, OK, No, what good is there? And if we know, for example,
- 35:20Ashiyan Hamdallah, we believe in the Imam.
- 35:22Yeah, we believe in his return. We believe that he is the Hajj,
- 35:27we believe in all of this, but what is there to gain if we
- 35:31don't work towards this reappearance?
- 35:33And and I think the conversation can go maybe towards active in
- 35:36the interval. But if if you think about it, I
- 35:40just want to come back to this whole belief system.
- 35:42I kept mentioning believing in Imam Mehdi is believing in the
- 35:45unseen. If we come to, for example, Sora
- 35:49Talas, this one of the most smallest Soras in the Quran,
- 35:55Well, asked in the insan a la ficos a La La Dina.
- 36:00Amen. Humanity, mankind.
- 36:05Yeah, I mean, they all losers at the end of the day, they're
- 36:08going to perish. The doom for failure.
- 36:11Except those who believe and do good.
- 36:16And believing in the Mehdi is one thing, doing good.
- 36:22It's not here. It's something beautiful.
- 36:24And where do we find ourselves between those?
- 36:26There's a really good lecture on this Ella Lavina Amnuwa amnu
- 36:31Soil Heart, What to ask about Hakka What to ask about on that
- 36:34verse by Sheikh Khalil Jafar, which I'd highly recommend
- 36:38people to listen to. I can't remember the name on it
- 36:41online, but that switched my whole narrative.
- 36:44Yeah, because that's not just about believing in a, it's too
- 36:46believing in the entire world of 1 scene.
- 36:49Yeah and it's a 2 prong thing bro.
- 36:51Belief and action. Yeah, well, what is Islam if
- 36:53Islam is not belief in action? Like there are those guys online
- 36:57on Twitter, you know, these Twitter nerds, like they will
- 36:59just throw hadith and brother this and like always, what's the
- 37:03word? There's a word for it.
- 37:04Like they're always trying to like just preaching online Haram
- 37:07police and all those kind of guys.
- 37:09They're just, they're just there.
- 37:11That one Bros. That one Bros bro, it's just
- 37:13like belief, belief, belief, belief bro.
- 37:15Where's your action bro? Where's your clubs?
- 37:17Yeah bro. Like there's you can tell that
- 37:18there's a lack of sincerity with these things in it.
- 37:20It's a 2 pronged. It's a 2 sided thing.
- 37:22Shaharat Al Madan is coming up. We know this, we believe and we
- 37:26act Ramadan, we believe in Ramadan, we believe in the last
- 37:30one to Allah, we believe in the revelation of Quran, but we act
- 37:33in Rob Shahramadhan so that we are cleansing our soul.
- 37:36Do you know what I mean? Preparing our souls, doing the
- 37:39right things, starting, starting the right things, stopping the
- 37:41wrong things like these are important things for us.
- 37:43But I think that's that is what the the mission of the Holy Imam
- 37:47Alay Salaam is. It's belief like you said in the
- 37:50unseen, in the final tech leaf, the promised final, the final
- 37:56promise of Allah spawn to Allah for this Omar and for this
- 37:59mankind. And then it's action towards it,
- 38:02making sure that when we when the the hoard happens, we're on
- 38:05the right team. Do you know what I mean?
- 38:07That's the hard part, Charlotte. We're Good Charlotte.
- 38:09God willing. The rising dawn is.
- 38:12Coming, that's all. As you're saying this, I'm
- 38:14thinking in my head like there is so much that we got to think
- 38:17about and do inshallah and work out towards actively prepare the
- 38:21ground. It is Wednesday night, yeah.
- 38:24It is Wednesday night. I know I dragged you from bed.
- 38:26La La, listen, what's your next before the event on Sunday?
- 38:30What's the next four days looking like for you?
- 38:32Oh, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 3 days.
- 38:35So we've got 2 working days and one weekend.
- 38:38However, the week never ends so off.
- 38:42Sounds like a poem. I think the next few days is
- 38:45going to be very tough for everyone behind the scenes
- 38:46preparing the event and getting things in order, logistically
- 38:49preparing A-Z. Yeah.
- 38:52And from everything. And I just asked at Handler, we
- 38:53have a big group of volunteers. Well, great, amazing work,
- 38:57amazing job. And I just want to say to
- 38:59everyone who's bought a ticket already.
- 39:01Thank you, man. Yeah, like I like genuinely I'm
- 39:04I'm, I'm really genuinely looking.
- 39:06I think we all are looking forward to seeing you there.
- 39:08It's. Moving.
- 39:09Together I've got one roof. Mini and Mormon are celebrating.
- 39:12Flying in for the event. Yeah, there's people who have
- 39:15contacted. Us from the airports.
