- 0:00Applying polarity in personal development involves recognizing traits, both positive and negative, within
- 0:06oneself and understanding how to develop a balanced personality equal to a highly organized person.
- 0:15It could also benefit from cultivating spontaneity at times in relationships. Recognizing the
- 0:22principle of polarity can help to understand the differences between individuals and appreciate diversity or
- 0:28the good day. How' d it go? My name is Moses Guzman
- 1:03host of this podcast. Hidden wisdom and it' s a pleasure to have
- 1:07you here. Last weekend I was in Zacatecas since Friday, so it was
- 1:12impossible for me to record anything. However, today we are going to continue
- 1:18with this series of episodes that speak about the seven hermetic principles and if this
- 1:23is your first time around here, I invite you to listen to the first
- 1:26three that we cover, which are the principle of mentalism, the principle of
- 1:33correspondence, the principle of vibration. And today we will see the fourth principle,
- 1:38which is the principle of polarity. The equivalent tells us that everything is
- 1:42dual, everything has poles, everything has its pair of opposites. The same
- 1:49and the different are the same. The opposites are identical in nature, but
- 1:55different in degree. The extremes are found s All truths truths are nothing but
- 2:00half truths. All paradoxes can be reconciled. This fourth principle explains that seemingly
- 2:07opposite things are actually one and the same to varying degrees. And a simple
- 2:15example is this of cold and heat. The cold is just the absence of
- 2:20heat and both are one thing. Temperature, physical matter and spiritual energy are
- 2:27the same thing. Spiritual energy vibrates at a higher level, so that our
- 2:31senses cannot perceive it. Love and hate are two things to experience the same
- 2:38thing, a relationship or a feeling towards something, and this is the basis
- 2:44of alchemy or the ability to transmute your experiences at will. Let us look
- 2:52at some key points on this principle. The opposites are not opposites, but
- 2:58complementary, and according to this principle the whole universe has its opposite pole.
- 3:05These opposites are not independent from each other, but are interconnected aspects of a
- 3:09unified whole. For example, light and darkness are not separate entities, but
- 3:15poles in a continuum of brightness. The principle implies that between two opposites there
- 3:23are different degrees or gradations. There is a spectrum or scale that connects the
- 3:30extremes, allowing nuances and complexities within each polarity. You' ve thought about
- 3:37how one can have so much love for someone and, over time, sometimes
- 3:40turns into hate. It often happens in affective relationships, you love your partner
- 3:46more not being able to. Then things go wrong and go from love to
- 3:50hate. In the end it is a feeling only that in different degrees,
- 3:58true understanding and mastery come from it recognition and harmonization of these opposites. Balance
- 4:03is not achieved by eliminating one pole in favour of the other, but by
- 4:09understanding its interdependence and integrating both into appropriate measures and taking into account. The
- 4:15mistake of religions is to make us believe that at the end of time,
- 4:19good must eliminate evil. Good and bad are the same thing complement each other,
- 4:27so the idea that evil must disappear does not go along with this principle.
- 4:32If you look at the jin and the yang, the figure is a
- 4:38two- coloured figure, black and white, in perfect balance. And if
- 4:42you look closer, you' ll notice that black isn' t entirely black
- 4:46and white isn' t entirely white. They both have a point of the
- 4:50opposite color. There is harmony between these two colors that symbolize the duality of
- 4:56everything that exists yourself you are both. You have goodness and evil within you
- 5:03and having evil doesn' t necessarily make you bad comes out when you need
- 5:11to defend yourself, when you need to interpret dangerous situations. To eliminate the
- 5:15evil in you would be to eliminate your very essence. What should be done
- 5:20to find that balance between the two polarities. Remember, it' s bad
- 5:27to be too loaded to one end. If you' re too bad,
- 5:30you can hurt people if you' re too good and noble. People take
- 5:33advantage of you This principle teaches us to find that balance between the different polarities.
- 5:43In philosophical and spiritual practices influenced by hermetism, such as alchemy and esotericism.
- 5:49The principle of polarity is applied to understand the nature of reality, consciousness,
- 5:54and spiritual growth. It encourages seekers to transcend dualistic thinking and embrace the
- 6:00unity of the opposites and apply this principle to personal development involves recognizing and integrating
- 6:08conflicting aspects of oneself, for example, integrating the opposing assertiveness and compassion,
- 6:15or rationality and intuition, and this will lead to a more balanced and holistic
- 6:20approach to life. Hermetic principles, including this one of polarity, are considered
- 6:29universal laws governing the cosmos. They are considered fundamental truths applied at all levels
- 6:36of existence, from macrocosm to microcosm. So, instead of trying to play
- 6:44this game of life without understanding the rules, it would be best to know
- 6:47how it works. And in this way, the universe will not admonish you
- 6:53in quotation marks and life will flow better. Applying the principle of polarity pruning
- 7:00requires a certain degree of mental resistance. It means changing the way you look
- 7:04at something potentially completely upside down. Take, for example, the hatred you
- 7:11may feel for someone. There' s some way to turn it into feelings
- 7:16of love. For example, every time a low vibration emotion depresses you,
- 7:20you can recognize it, feel it, and transmute it into a more positive
- 7:26one. Recognize that many characteristic concepts or emotions have opposite poles believe me that
- 7:33it would not be easy, for example, cold, heat, positive,
- 7:39negative, love, hatred, light, darkness, life and death, etcetera.
- 7:44These opposites often exist in a spectrum and are part of a whole.
- 7:49The principle suggests that these opposites are interconnected and often depend on each other for
- 7:56context. For example, you can' t fully appreciate what hot means without
- 8:03understanding cold. You cannot appreciate the silence without having experienced the noise After the
- 8:11cyclone comes calm in practical terms, when you encounter a situation in which a
- 8:16particular quality or emotion is dominant. The principle of polarity suggests finding ways to
- 8:22balance it with its opposite. This could mean incorporating elements of opposite quality to
- 8:30create harmony or moderation. And it' s not as easy as you'
- 8:35d think. Oh yeah, I feel hate ha. If that colleague at
- 8:37work, then I must feel love. Yeah, but it goes further.
- 8:45What makes that colleague that way that generates repudiation in others. Putting you in
- 8:52his shoes could help you understand why he' s in trouble. If he
- 8:56answers that way, when they talk to him, maybe he' s going
- 9:01through a separation with his old partner, and that' s what he has.
- 9:03So, they could be financial problems at home. Then putting yourself in
- 9:09the person' s shoes will help you have empathy and see beyond. Then
- 9:16the work of transmuting some feeling is not easy, but it is not impossible
- 9:20either. That is the task to find a way to transmute those opposing polarities
- 9:26and find that balance. In psychology. Understanding emotional polarity can help in emotional
- 9:33regulation. For example, if you feel too excited and energetic, you can
- 9:39use techniques to calm down, such as meditation, yoga breathing techniques. Applying
- 9:46this principle in conflicts implies understanding that opposing views or needs can be reconciled by
- 9:52finding common or equal points by integrating both perspectives instead of choosing one over the
- 10:00other. Applying polarity in personal development involves recognizing traits, both positive and negative,
- 10:09within oneself and understanding how to develop a balanced personality equal to a highly
- 10:16organized person. It could also benefit from cultivating spontaneity at times in relationships.
- 10:24Recognizing the principle of polarity can help to understand differences between individuals and appreciate diversity.
- 10:33It fosters empathy and tolerance. Recognizing that different viewpoints are natural and can
- 10:37complement each other in business or strategic planning, Understanding the principle of polarity can
- 10:45help manage competing priorities or objectives, seeking synergies rather than seeing them as mutually
- 10:50exclusive. In essence, the principle of polarity invites a deeper understanding of the
- 11:07interconnectedness of the opposites and fosters a balanced approach to various aspects of life,
- 11:13relationships and decision- making. By encompassing both ends of the spectrum you can
- 11:20achieve greater harmony, resilience and effectiveness in your efforts and with this we reach
- 11:28the end of this episode. Tell me if you have managed to identify those
- 11:33positive and negative traits In you it has been easy to change polarity. I
- 11:39want to thank you for spending a few minutes of your day with me.
- 11:43I want you to understand this principle and the others that we have studied and
- 11:50with small steps, go integrating them into your life to achieve significant changes.
