- 0:03Welcome to Rad Cast, the Random Ass Dudes podcast where
- 0:07absolutely nothing's off limits. Hosted by two guys with no
- 0:10script, no agenda, and no clue what's coming next.
- 0:14If it's random, it's fair game TuneIn.
- 0:17Laugh with us, argue with us, or just wonder what the hell did I
- 0:21just listen to. New episodes come out weekly and
- 0:24here chaos is guaranteed. Another just one-on-one.
- 0:32I know this is like, it's so fun but yeah, it's so frustrating.
- 0:37Oh, with all the technology stuff.
- 0:38Yeah, like trying to figure out the phone stuff and all the
- 0:41mics. And I mean, we, we're literally
- 0:44going into this like 0 experience into any of this.
- 0:49Well, and then, you know, spending time with the ranch
- 0:51dogs guys and seeing their setup and stuff like that made me feel
- 0:55very. I know I'm like.
- 0:57Inferior, right? Yeah, I didn't like, you know,
- 1:02because they're they're just doing like a YouTube.
- 1:05Yeah, the channel. Channel and it's like I didn't
- 1:08expect that you. Know oh the production of it
- 1:10yeah oh I know but. Then like talking to David is
- 1:13like, dude, all just all their backgrounds in it, you know?
- 1:18They had to have three separate cameras that are all the exact
- 1:20same camera, all the same production.
- 1:23And I was looking at their Instagram and they were taking
- 1:25pictures and they did it all over that ranch too.
- 1:29Oh, they did so. They had to like pick it up, set
- 1:30it up, you know, other places and stuff like that.
- 1:32Well, I wonder what time they got started, because what we got
- 1:34there at like 7:45 and they were, I mean, they were damn
- 1:37near finished up. He said they got there at like
- 1:405. Yeah, but to get things rolling.
- 1:42Yeah. So hopefully because what we've
- 1:48been having issues with and maybe there's somebody that's
- 1:50going to listen and that could give us some pointers is getting
- 1:53the the pod tracker to the phone.
- 1:57Yeah, right. Well, we're definitely not
- 1:59technology people. No, no, no, we're just, we're
- 2:01just Googling and ChatGPT in and right, you know, trying to
- 2:06figure all that out. So.
- 2:08Rednecks figuring out technology.
- 2:09Yeah, yeah, the best we can. Yeah, with what?
- 2:12With with what little budget we have.
- 2:14Well, that's true too, right? Yep.
- 2:18But I am very grateful for like trucker jobs.
- 2:20Oh yeah, they've helped out a lot.
- 2:22Oh yeah, yeah, Big Kai. Shout out Big Kai.
- 2:26Absolutely. That was that was that was a
- 2:28cool podcast. I feel like the whole lineman 1.
- 2:32Yeah. No, there's been a lot of people
- 2:33that have asked more like more about it.
- 2:38And I think somebody else was in a different trade and they were
- 2:42saying that it kind of, it felt similar to the experience that
- 2:45they have as far as like how there's different levels of the
- 2:50trade. Yeah.
- 2:51You know, you have your, you know, those that are part of the
- 2:54union, those that aren't part of the union, those that are green
- 2:57and start up. Oh dude, when I posted that
- 2:59video of Brandon, Oh yeah, union and non union, that started a
- 3:03whole nother argument, man, right.
- 3:05You know, and like just within that episode after, after the
- 3:09fact, we were talking me and Brandon and there's so much to
- 3:13cover in that trade, you know what I'm saying?
- 3:16It's just we like barely, we barely even scratch the surface
- 3:20of it. But I think that's with like
- 3:22anything, right? Oh yeah, for sure.
- 3:24So but Colton McMurray was fun. That was a really fun podcast.
- 3:29It was fun that one. That one was fun for me.
- 3:31And the fact that like try to help him promote, Yeah, making
- 3:35post, making post, you know, he would like text me.
- 3:37He's like, hey man, can you make a snippet of this video with,
- 3:40you know, with this on there? I'm like, heck yeah, dude, you
- 3:43know? So I'd get the little clip and
- 3:44then throw the little words on there and I'll send it.
- 3:47To the one that you did was it's at like 47,000 views or
- 3:50something like that. Oh, yeah, with him getting on
- 3:52and like with his, with him explaining it or he's been
- 3:55having a rope in his hand his whole life, right?
- 3:57Yeah, yeah. Well, then did you see?
- 3:59Well, yeah, you saw it because you reposted it.
- 4:01The girls in the Razor last night listening to the song.
- 4:03Yeah. So we were ripping through the
- 4:05neighborhood with all the lights on and stuff like that.
- 4:06They were screaming at the top of their lungs.
- 4:08Yeah, that was cool. That was fun.
- 4:10He commented on on it this morning.
- 4:14After we recorded with the ranch dogs, we went to first wash to
- 4:18go eat breakfast and then after after some lady, she saw Sam's
- 4:23shirt and was trying to recommend Sam to our podcast.
- 4:27And I, I mean, that was, I didn't even, I honestly, I, I
- 4:34couldn't even imagine thinking that we've reached this amount
- 4:40of people in this amount of time.
- 4:43And not in, not just in our neighborhood.
- 4:45No, no, this was like way far away, right?
- 4:48And it's like, dude. Yeah, we're in North Phoenix.
- 4:50Yeah, I mean, I felt a little cool.
- 4:51I'm not going to. Oh no.
- 4:52I mean, like I said, I I took Sam and the kids to a
- 4:55Diamondbacks game and I'm walking in and the security
- 4:57guard starts. Oh my God.
- 4:58Oh my God. I was like, what?
- 5:00Like I thought I was in trouble. You know what he's like.
- 5:02I listen to you guys and I was like, what?
- 5:06Right. He's like, yeah, I listened to
- 5:07your podcast. My brother recommended.
- 5:08I was like, no. Yeah, right.
- 5:10I know that. That's cool too, man.
- 5:12Yeah, jeez, man. And like if you look at so I
- 5:17know like probably a lot of people probably wondering right
- 5:20here, I'll just should I just give them our analytics?
- 5:22Yeah, OK. So so far, like on Spotify.
- 5:28So there's a Spotify creators app that we use to upload our
- 5:33all of our podcasts and videos. By the way, Shane, Natalie and
- 5:37Sam handle all of that. Yeah.
- 5:40Yeah, which is fine. I like it.
- 5:42Yeah. So we have 1100 plays total or
- 5:471152. We have 341 consumption hours
- 5:53and we are at 67 total followers, OK.
- 5:56So if more people can follow us on Spotify, that would be great.
- 6:04And YouTube and YouTube, we have streams and downloads.
- 6:15We have 820 streams and downloads so far.
- 6:20Our top 10 episodes are probably all ten of them right now, but
- 6:26the top one right now is is Joey and then.
- 6:29Joey's still in the. Future and then Colton's coming
- 6:32up. Real fast.
- 6:33And then I think our launch one was third.
- 6:35No. No was third.
- 6:36Now the the lineman 1. Oh cool, that one jumped up
- 6:39then. Yeah, and then rad cast and then
- 6:42Marcus's with the Independence Day Thorman wives take over
- 6:46donkey do that's tree and then the keep this rule.
- 6:50Sorry ladies, you're not viral yet.
- 6:52Yeah, not yet. You'll you'll, you'll you'll,
- 6:54you'll have your turn. I I promise dude, I thought the
- 6:59Keep us Rolling was gonna take. Off.
- 7:00I thought so too. I thought, like, that was gonna
- 7:02like, grab people's attention. But I, I also, it's yes and no
- 7:07because it doesn't, it doesn't affect everyone the way that it
- 7:10affects us, right? Like that's more important to
- 7:13you and me and our and our small community than it is to others.
- 7:18Every. Yeah.
- 7:20And I and I just don't know that that necessarily interest
- 7:23everybody. Yeah, the way that it does US.
- 7:25Keep talking. I'm gonna go turn that fan down,
- 7:27OK? So yeah, I just to me, it seems,
- 7:31yeah. I totally agree man.
- 7:45Man that that fan freaking started blowing like crazy.
- 7:50Yeah. As far as as far as that piece
- 7:52of it, I just don't know that it reaches the kind of the size
- 7:58audience that would create a lot of yeah, listeners.
- 8:01Yeah. You know, I mean, I, I hate to
- 8:03say it, but kind of the culture out here is stay off of social
- 8:06media, you know, spend your time.
- 8:08That's true. So, you know, I think your
- 8:10viewer, your viewer opportunities is smaller.
- 8:14Yeah, the audience isn't there. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:17Well, and then like, you know, we're on Spotify and YouTube and
- 8:19how many of those people are are on there?
- 8:22You know what I'm saying, right? Right.
- 8:24But oh, Speaking of the BNSF railroad, So I'm on their e-mail
- 8:31chain, right? And the e-mail that they sent
- 8:36was I just, I just, I just couldn't believe it.
- 8:40Like, hold on here, this is what they said.
- 8:44OK, So they sent this e-mail. Train chain says Logistics Park
- 8:49Phoenix newsletter Tracking for success.
- 8:52Fewer trains for Northwest Maricopa BNSF is building the
- 8:563.2 billion logistics Park Phoenix to help meet Arizona's
- 9:00growing need to move goods. And to do it in a way that
- 9:04brings real benefits to the communities we serve.
- 9:07We've been planning this project for more than 20 years, always
- 9:09with both the economy and our neighbors in mind, and it's just
- 9:15starts talking about how the communities Sun, Sun City West
- 9:22Sun City, Grand Surprise, El Mirage, Youngtown, Peoria and
- 9:25more. This means fewer trains by 20.
- 9:28Didn't they already say it was going to go up by 30%?
- 9:31I don't know, 'cause it, like if I read the stats right, it said
- 9:35that 9.6 trains go through here a day.
- 9:37Yeah, and it's supposed to go up to like 14.8, right?
- 9:41So essentially we're going to we're going to grow by half.
- 9:46Well, they're saying that it's going to stop because if you
- 9:49look at the city that says Sun City West, stop.
- 9:51From going all the way in. Yeah, Sun City West Sun City,
- 9:54Grand Surprise, El Mirage, Youngtown and Peoria.
- 9:56It doesn't say anything about Whitman, right?
- 9:58Gotcha. So we're going to get more,
- 10:00they're going to get less. Yes, trains, Trains.
- 10:02OK, it says. By nearly by 2028, nearly half
- 10:06the trains that would have traveled through these areas
- 10:09will will reach their final destination at the depot.
- 10:12The depot, which translates to shorter waits at rail crossings,
- 10:19better access to local hospitals, lower emissions from
- 10:22what's already the most eco friendly way to move freight
- 10:26over land. And I did.
- 10:27I read that and I was like, dude, you guys are so full of
- 10:30shit. Yeah, right.
- 10:31Because OK, cool, you take the trains away, but now you're
- 10:35adding way more trucks that are going in there.
- 10:39And it's one lane in and one lane out.
- 10:40Yeah, Yeah. So it's going to devastate Lake
- 10:42Pleasant. There's no way.
- 10:44No way. No way that they can put 10,000
- 10:47trucks down that road a day and not just completely block up the
- 10:51entrance and exit to Lake Pleasant.
- 10:52Yeah, there's. No way.
- 10:53And then like the entrances and exits to the three O 3 over
- 10:56there on 70. Four and the which is already
- 10:58going to be a problem because of the TSMC, yeah, they had to
- 11:01build specific exits for this semiconductor plant, you know,
- 11:04like they're all those same trucks are going to go on the
- 11:06same route. Yeah.
- 11:07Yeah, but I mean, yeah, they're going to take away trains, OK,
- 11:10You're going to wait less at train stops, but it's going to
- 11:15add 10 times more traffic because where?
- 11:18Where where the? Road traffic, yeah.
- 11:20Yeah, those, those trucks are going to go, those trucks need
- 11:23to go to Phoenix. So they're going to bypass Sun
- 11:25City West, they're going to bypass Sun City, they're going
- 11:28to bypass El Mirage, they're going to bypass Peoria and
- 11:31surprise, you know what I'm saying?
- 11:33So, so, so you're taking the trains off the tracks, right?
- 11:37But essentially, you're going to run that cargo on the road.
- 11:40Right, right, right. Yeah, well, in like the Amazon
- 11:44depots are all over the place, right.
- 11:46So it's not like every one of those trucks is going to go all
- 11:48the way to I17 because you have them out here in surprise.
- 11:51Yeah, they're down in Buckeye. So those trucks are going to get
- 11:54diverted all over the place. Yeah.
- 11:56Yeah. I, I, I don't, I just don't see
- 11:59how it's going to improve anything.
- 12:00I I think it's going to make traffic just a disaster out
- 12:03here. Way, way worse.
- 12:04I mean, it used to be that the drive to Vegas was bad because
- 12:07you had to go through Wickenburg, right?
- 12:08Yeah. Well, then they put in the
- 12:10roundabout and it's and it's helped as far as traffic goes,
- 12:14but it's basically killed the town of Wickenburg from a, you
- 12:18know, a monetary standpoint because there nobody's stopping
- 12:21in there to get fuel and snacks and stuff before going to.
- 12:24Vegas. Because the roundabouts there,
- 12:25they could bypass all that now. And I don't know, like somebody
- 12:28asked me the other day, they were like, well, it doesn't, you
- 12:31know, aren't there restaurants and different things out there
- 12:34that are going to benefit from having more people out there?
- 12:36And I'm like, not really, but it means that there will be.
- 12:39Yeah, well, I, I, I also think that Wickenburg probably doesn't
- 12:43want all that. The pass through oh, I think
- 12:46he's. Great.
- 12:46You know what I'm saying? Like, like they don't want all
- 12:49the traffic growth. No, I agree.
- 12:50You know, because I think like I've seen on some forums or
- 12:54Facebook groups that you know, they, you know, all the lands,
- 12:58that's all the land that's being bought up out there, you know,
- 13:01they're not liking that so. Oh, I'm sure.
- 13:03Yeah. Well, cuz it pushes in on that
- 13:05dude ranch. It's up there too.
- 13:07I can't, I can't remember. The flying E The flying E, Yeah.
- 13:10Cuz that'll all push into that. Yeah.
- 13:12Then you got the small airport that's up there.
- 13:16There's a lot. I mean, you know, you think
- 13:18about it like it is a seasonal town anyway.
- 13:21Yeah, right. It's it's blooming when the
- 13:23ropers are here, and then it's quiet when it's not when it's in
- 13:26the heat of the summer. So, yeah, I, I don't think that
- 13:28the roundabout was bad by diverting the traffic from
- 13:31downtown Wickenburg. But you got to think like, I
- 13:34guarantee the revenue and stuff like that for the gas stations
- 13:36and all that is significantly less, you know what I mean?
- 13:40So the restaurants probably aren't nearly as busy as they
- 13:43once were. People coming in and out of
- 13:45town. Yeah.
- 13:46So the world we live in, folks, it's changing every day.
- 13:50It is, man. It is which I mean, I'm not
- 13:53opposed to change, right? I mean, like, look at like look
- 13:58at media nowadays. Well, you know, like I don't get
- 14:02my news from news stations. No, you know I don't like.
- 14:06I don't watch the news no because it only reports the
- 14:08negative shit. Well, that and I don't believe
- 14:10it, dude, seriously. I mean, they're all bought and
- 14:15paid for by corporations, you know, they all have their own
- 14:18agendas politically and stuff like that.
- 14:20So that's why I don't and, and like a, a huge part of that was
- 14:25COVID man. Like yes, just seeing the I mean
- 14:30what, how far are we out of COVID already?
- 14:32Well, that shit's coming back around again.
- 14:34No, it's not. No, I I'm saying all like the
- 14:37propaganda. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 14:38Yeah, you know what I'm saying? Like the actual like people are
- 14:40testing positive for that shit again, Yeah.
- 14:43No, we've been through it. I had it what, like 5-6 weeks
- 14:46ago? My boss had it, my dad's got it
- 14:48right now. Yeah, it seems to be if you jump
- 14:50on an airplane, you're getting COVID.
- 14:52Yeah, or you're getting sick. You're getting sick somehow.
- 14:55I mean, I and I fly all the time, so I I, I joke around that
- 14:58I'm immune to it. Yeah, but I think for the first
- 15:00time, because I never got it when it was like running rampant
- 15:03and everybody was getting sick. Yeah, I never got it, but
- 15:06something and I I can only assume I didn't test positive or
- 15:09and I didn't test, but I can tell you I've never been knocked
- 15:12on my ass for three straight days.
- 15:13But 4th of July weekend bro. You know what it is, dude?
- 15:17You want to hear my conspiracy? Let's hear your conspiracy.
- 15:20This is what's going on. OK, so RFKI think he did
- 15:23something where he didn't make the COVID vaccine mandatory or
- 15:27something, right? So the pharmaceuticals are
- 15:31telling the media to start ramping up the COVID, right?
- 15:38There's more COVID right and all that.
- 15:41I mean, it probably goes deep and into what I'm saying and I
- 15:44can't prove anything. So it's all allegedly.
- 15:49But yeah, I think, I think like the pharmaceutical companies
- 15:53like, hey, hey, start ramping up the COVID stuff because this is
- 15:56what happened. So now we need to get it back in
- 15:58the in the shelves, right? Because once the government says
- 16:02we don't need it, then people in their minds like, screw it, I
- 16:06don't need no COVID vaccine no more, you know, So then that'll
- 16:08drop their sales. And then yeah, you know what I
- 16:11mean, dude? Everything's ran with money,
- 16:12dude. Well, like I only got the first
- 16:14vaccine and I only got it because we had to get it to be
- 16:18able to travel for work like and I and I was just so tired of
- 16:22being home. Yeah, you know, I'm, I'm in
- 16:24sales, right? So I'm used to being out and
- 16:26with people and stuff like that. So when that hit, The funny
- 16:29thing is, is Sam and I got very, very good at ping pong during
- 16:32COVID. Oh, bro.
- 16:34Yeah. Like our, our COVID experience.
- 16:36And it's, you know, I hate to talk COVID stuff, but like, our
- 16:39experience wasn't bad per SE. Like our community actually got
- 16:43really close. Our neighbors were great.
- 16:45Like we used to joke around. We're like, hey, driveway beers
- 16:47on Friday, right? And every Friday we're all
- 16:49hanging out outside having driveway beers.
- 16:51But yeah, we so we had a pool table in the house that I don't
- 16:56think we played pool but maybe three times ever in the 2 1/2
- 16:59years we lived there. But I got a ping pong Topper and
- 17:02dude, we had some epic games. Like we'd be one of us would be
- 17:08getting pissed off at work or whatever and we're like ping
- 17:09pong. Yep, let's go play ping pong and
- 17:12TV. It was, it was funny.
- 17:13That's awesome. But yeah, it was, it was a lot
- 17:15of fun. The best thing I liked about
- 17:16COVID was like, you know, 'cause we have to be on the road, yeah,
- 17:19we have to go out. And dude, nobody was on the.
- 17:21Road, yeah, no traffic. Man, it was so great.
- 17:24I mean, I was in Indiana. I never, I never got the
- 17:26vaccine. They didn't force.
- 17:28They were trying to but like our like our union was pretty strong
- 17:33and the fact like no, don't, don't get it.
- 17:35Like you don't have to get it. You know what I'm saying?
- 17:37And. We weren't forced to, but it was
- 17:40one of those things like in order for us to be able to
- 17:42travel, yeah, they were like, you got to get it.
- 17:45And it was more of a like, you know, safety thing for us,
- 17:51which, you know, the company I work for does a great job on
- 17:53making sure that the employees are taking care of.
- 17:55So it was one of those things where I didn't mind doing it for
- 17:58that. But outside of that, I like
- 18:01what's there like 6 or 7 different variants of, you know,
- 18:05the shot. Yeah, I'm.
- 18:07I'm not doing all that shit. Yeah, the one thing that annoyed
- 18:09me was a whole like the whole curve thing, you know, the whole
- 18:15like shut down for for two weeks to.
- 18:18To hit the curve. Or something, but went longer,
- 18:21dude. And man, like I felt bad for
- 18:25Natalie because she had four kids at the house and school,
- 18:28right? And I mean, obviously the
- 18:31school, like they didn't have schools didn't have any way to
- 18:34prepare for this. Yeah.
- 18:36So they just sent her a bunch of homework, you know, and like had
- 18:40her make sure that they were on online, on Zoom calls and stuff.
- 18:44And man, she was trying to do all that and it was just, it was
- 18:49just really hard for her. Well, and I felt bad for, you
- 18:51know, my daughter. Her freshman year was a COVID
- 18:54year. Of high school, yeah.
- 18:55So she was all excited to go to high school, right?
- 18:58And then it's like, Nope, you're staying home for a year, you
- 19:01know? And then my son, who's always
- 19:03been a straight A student. Were they playing sports?
- 19:06No, no, they didn't get to play sports their.
- 19:07Freshman year, yeah. No, I'm sorry.
- 19:10They did. Yeah.
- 19:11They ended up playing, but it, it affected them.
- 19:16They both struggled, you know, and they've both been great
- 19:18students, and they figured it out.
- 19:19But like, my son came to me damn near in tears one day.
- 19:22And he's like, Dad, I can't do this.
- 19:24And I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, my grades are
- 19:25suffering because I just can't stay focused sitting in front of
- 19:28a laptop at home. Yeah.
- 19:29Like, I need the engagement with my teacher and with the
- 19:31classmates some, you know, a kid that's gone from being straight
- 19:35A's his whole life, struggling academically because he's, he's
- 19:38bored. You know, I mean, shout out to
- 19:42those parents and kids that have figured out the homeschooling
- 19:44thing because I just, I don't, I mean, I'd have been awful.
- 19:49Yeah, you. Didn't make me go to class.
- 19:51Well, the way that I've because my brother homeschooled their
- 19:55kids and they it's like there's their education part of it or
- 20:01like their schooling part of it is way shorter.
- 20:03You know what I'm saying? And like, I think that they do
- 20:08it in a way of like. Like, how fast can the kid
- 20:12advance, right? Yeah.
- 20:13It's not like you need to be here at this time, right?
- 20:15You need to be at, you know, be reading at this level On this
- 20:19date by the end of this year. It's like, OK, let's just get
- 20:21them there. I think one of the really cool
- 20:23things that they're doing, though, is that they're teaching
- 20:25them like real world, like traits.
- 20:30Yeah, You know what I mean? So like, you know, their son is
- 20:34out welding and learning to Weld and stuff like that at a very
- 20:36young age, and then their daughter is, you know, actively
- 20:39out with large animals and learning that stuff.
- 20:41So I think that stuff's pretty cool.
- 20:43You know, you, you think about you, you could just sit home in
- 20:47front of a laptop or a book and get educated that way.
- 20:50Or you can be educated on stuff that you're actually going to.
- 20:52Use what's real stuff. Once you're in the real world,
- 20:55right, Like I, I think that's actually, I mean, I'd probably
- 21:00get shot by a teacher, but that's I to me, that's more
- 21:03important than anything you're going to learn in in a in a
- 21:05book. Oh yeah, sorry, Natalie, I know
- 21:08you're all about them books and Sam, but.
- 21:11No, those books are to get away. Yeah.
- 21:13That's true to to disappear into their own world.
- 21:15Yeah, that's funny. Yeah.
- 21:18So yeah, man, I. Don't know what you know What?
- 21:23What about you, Nate? What?
- 21:25What? What inspires you?
- 21:27Like, how are you so freaking busy?
- 21:29Why are you so busy? I, I don't know, like I don't, I
- 21:37don't know how to answer that. I think it started at such a
- 21:40young age. I mean, I've been working since
- 21:42I, I could like at 15, you know, my first job at Peter Piper
- 21:45Pizza was to earn, you know, enough money to buy a car.
- 21:48And yeah, at that point, you know, I had school full time.
- 21:51I was working plus playing football and I just, I, I think
- 21:56it's just the way that I was raised, like my grandfather
- 21:59worked his ass off, my parents worked their ass off and my
- 22:03parents split up at a very young age.
- 22:04I mean, I was a man of the house at 9.
- 22:06Yeah, you know what I mean? So it was one of those things
- 22:08where just it's never been I I don't, I just don't know how to
- 22:12turn it off. And the reality is is, you know,
- 22:16you know, my kids grow up and go off to college and instead of me
- 22:20taking a break and like being like, OK, cool.
- 22:22I got him to the, I got him to college.
- 22:24Like we've got the ranch life now I can settle down.
- 22:26What do I do? I, you know, I take on a
- 22:29partnership with Stephen Justice and the flooring and we're doing
- 22:33the podcast and we're breaking horses and there's, you know,
- 22:36and I'm travelling for work and I don't know, I, I like helping
- 22:45people, I think is the big thing.
- 22:47And, and I just like whatever I can do to help people get to
- 22:51where they want to go. I think is is what drives me to
- 22:54to be so busy. But what about for yourself
- 22:57though? Like, I mean, yeah, that's great
- 23:00that you want to see other people go, but what about you?
- 23:04So. So I spent 20 years in the car
- 23:06business checking, chasing title and chasing money and the funny.
- 23:10And that's why I like now that I'm in the role that I'm in and
- 23:13I do a lot of speaking and I do a lot of leadership coaching and
- 23:15stuff like that. I tell people all the time, like
- 23:17success is measured very differently by every individual.
- 23:20You know what I mean? I used to measure myself against
- 23:22owners and CEOs. What is your?
- 23:25What is your title in your job right now?
- 23:27So I'm a regional sales director.
- 23:28OK. So I manage a significant volume
- 23:33of sales on the West Coast. But I mean, I started as an
- 23:35outside sales Rep after spending 20 years in the car business,
- 23:38you know, and then was very successful doing that and then
- 23:42became a sales manager. And then I was the national
- 23:45sales trainer at our organization and then moved into
- 23:48this role. But you know, I've been blessed,
- 23:53man. They've poured so much into me.
- 23:55And then from a development perspective, I mean, I went to a
- 23:58leadership camp that I didn't know that I needed and it came
- 24:01home and that, I mean, I will tell you that that that single
- 24:04handedly changed my relationship with my wife and my kids and how
- 24:07I, I see things because it was Nate's world forever.
- 24:12Yeah. Like it was all about me.
- 24:14Yeah. And then I came home and, you
- 24:18know, I remember pulling over, remember pulling over to the
- 24:22side of the road. It was just Sam and I, and I
- 24:26stopped the truck, and she's like, what's up?
- 24:28And I said I just need to tell you something.
- 24:30Said I'm sorry. And she's like, what do you mean
- 24:33you're sorry? I said I hear you, but I don't
- 24:36listen to you. And.
- 24:40And, like, saying it out loud brought tears to my eyes.
- 24:43And I was like, and it's not like I don't dismiss you on
- 24:46purpose. Yeah, but I've just been the man
- 24:49of the house for so long and not needed anybody and, and just
- 24:52felt like I, you know, I just had to figure it out myself that
- 24:55I didn't know that I was shutting you out and I was
- 24:57dismissing your opinions. And we both got super emotional,
- 25:03and she thanked me and. And.
- 25:04And really, it's been a true partnership ever since then.
- 25:07You know, same with my kids. Like, Tyler and I went through a
- 25:12period where we just did not see eye to eye.
- 25:14And it wasn't like we fought or anything like that.
- 25:16But he and I are very, very different people.
- 25:18Yeah. What he loves is different than
- 25:21me. Like, when he got into music, I
- 25:23was like, dude, let's go get you a guitar.
- 25:24And the kid sat down and learned how to play the guitar.
- 25:26Yeah. That's cool.
- 25:28Yeah. You know, what I do admire about
- 25:30you is like the last few like months that we've been together,
- 25:34you know, like you've like, like, like you allow yourself to
- 25:39like, open up, right? So like when we invited you to
- 25:44church, you know what I'm saying?
- 25:45And you guys were going to church and everything and, and
- 25:50like you, you allowed your heart to open up to Jesus, you know,
- 25:55and then you got baptized, right?
- 25:57Thank you, by the way, for doing that for me.
- 25:58Yeah. And what's so like what's like,
- 26:05what's like really nice to see is that the Nate before your
- 26:12conviction with Jesus, right. Like I could tell like you had
- 26:16this like stone cold like guard on you.
- 26:21And then after like within like the last few days, dude.
- 26:25And it's like real touching to see this, right?
- 26:30Is that I could tell that you're like you're, you are way softer,
- 26:36Yeah, than what you used to be. You know what I'm saying?
- 26:39Yeah. And, and it's, dude, like, like
- 26:44the power of like Jesus and my God, dude, it's so it's like if
- 26:48you allow them to come into your life and come into your heart
- 26:52and just like change you and like, it's, it's huge, dude, you
- 26:56know what I'm saying? So yeah.
- 26:58And that's something that I admire.
- 26:59I appreciate that. And you and you and Natalie have
- 27:02been a massive part in that. You know what I mean?
- 27:04Like I, I, I give you guys all the credit for, you know, I was
- 27:11anti not, I wasn't Antichrist or anti, you know, any of that,
- 27:16right? I just was anti church and, and,
- 27:18and not for a good reason, but it was because I wasn't willing
- 27:22to invest the time and the effort to understand it.
- 27:24So I was just like, no, I'm not doing it.
- 27:28And I, I put up a wall to it and you guys invited us every
- 27:32weekend, but it was never like, Hey, you need to go, right?
- 27:34It was just like, Hey, listen, the doors always open.
- 27:38Me and my dad started to have our struggles and and I started
- 27:42going in October last year and it really, really helped me.
- 27:45Yeah. You know, I again, I, I could
- 27:49not thank you enough for baptizing me.
- 27:51That was there was a special moment.
- 27:53That's something that will connect you and I for the for
- 27:55the rest of my lives. You know, in I was just able to
- 27:59baptize Sam this weekend and that was, you know, that was a
- 28:02very special moment for her and I, but it's, it's funny that you
- 28:06say that I've softened up because it, it takes a conscious
- 28:09effort for me to do that. And I thought about that last
- 28:11night before we came over to Drake's party.
- 28:14I've been working my ass off all day long and I just knew that I
- 28:17was like, dude, I'm, am I really in that kind of mood to like go
- 28:19entertain a bunch of people, right?
- 28:22And I just, and I, but I was like, you know what, like the
- 28:26normal Nate would go and sit in a corner and be an ass and just
- 28:29like, I'm going to be disconnected.
- 28:32And then last night I was like, no, dude, I'm going to go.
- 28:35And you know, I'm just going to hang out with everybody.
- 28:36And, you know, just. And I and I have to do a better
- 28:40job. And this is something that I'm
- 28:41actively working on. You know, I hate to say it, but
- 28:44my love language is picking on people, you know, And sometimes
- 28:49it's not received well. Yeah.
- 28:51And I, and I really don't mean it maliciously.
- 28:53I really don't. Yeah.
- 28:54I think it like there's just, it's banter to me.
- 28:57I pick on Sam, I pick on you guys.
- 28:59Like that locker room? Yeah, I think that's probably
- 29:02what it is. I've been an athlete my whole
- 29:04life and it's just like the camaraderie stuff.
- 29:06I'm just picking on people. But that's, that's my love
- 29:10language. And a lot of times it's taken
- 29:12out of context or it's, you know, it's taken the wrong way.
- 29:14And I, and I apologize to anybody that I've ever offended
- 29:16or, or has taken it the wrong way, but I also know that my
- 29:20delivery has a tendency to be very hard.
- 29:23Yeah. And I have to learn to soften
- 29:24that. Yeah.
- 29:25But I'm, I'm actively working on it.
- 29:27What's you know? What's good is you're you're
- 29:29aware of that. Dude, I am now you know.
- 29:31What I'm saying, And that takes time, that takes prayer.
- 29:35You know what I mean? Like, I mean, shoot, I go
- 29:38through the same thing, you know, of like trying to be aware
- 29:42of what's going on around you. And I think you what I've
- 29:45appreciate learned to appreciate a lot about you too is, you
- 29:48know, just a couple weeks ago you talked to Sam and I and you
- 29:52said that you struggle with staying the course, right?
- 29:57I think that just just saying that out loud right is this is
- 30:02staying the. Course yeah, like lately I've
- 30:04been having this pull towards God dude and it's been I've like
- 30:11I've never felt the way I felt like it's like this pull is just
- 30:17so strong dude and I and I do get like I always get it
- 30:21emotional when I talk about it, but but.
- 30:25That's OK, but it's great though, right?
- 30:27Like it's, it's so, it's so refreshing, you know, because
- 30:32it's like, I know I have God and Jesus to rely on, you know, and,
- 30:40and I feel like I'm being tested, right?
- 30:42Like, like God and God just like, come on, dude.
- 30:45You know, like this is this is where you need to be.
- 30:48Yeah. You know, And there's like so
- 30:51many times that I know that God's real because of the things
- 30:54that have that like he has put in front of me.
- 30:58Right. So, so a few weeks ago, I was
- 31:01talking to Natalie. I was listening to the Dale
- 31:05Brisby podcast, right? And it was with his pastor.
- 31:09And, you know, they were talking and then that and then that
- 31:11young intern comes on and he starts talking like he, he just
- 31:16got married, you know, And then they were married for a few
- 31:19years. And then at the beginning of
- 31:22this year, his wife died. Oh, jeez.
- 31:25You know, And so he's been struggling with that.
- 31:29And he was just talking to Dale Brisby's pastor about like, you
- 31:33know, like what? Like he doesn't want his
- 31:35identity to be like. The loss of his wife.
- 31:42Yeah, you know, or, you know, like he, he wants his identity
- 31:46to be through Christ, you know what I'm saying?
- 31:48And that hit me, dude, it hit me like a ton of bricks, man.
- 31:51I'm like, holy shit. Like, well, what about me, you
- 31:55know. And so I had this like long
- 31:58conversation with like Natalie about it, you know what I mean?
- 32:01And then so, you know, she said, well, you just need to open up
- 32:04your Bible and just start reading.
- 32:06I was like alright, cool. I start on like Matthew, right?
- 32:09And it was so crazy cuz I forgot and I'm not again.
- 32:16I'm not good at remembering this stuff.
- 32:18We know. Yeah, but I know how it makes me
- 32:21feel and I like, yeah, I know what I'm thinking or.
- 32:24Whatever, it's your process, but I think that's what I was trying
- 32:27to tell you the other day is you process it the way that you
- 32:30process it and you don't owe anybody an explanation for that.
- 32:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. And but like reading Matthew,
- 32:39like he was talking about like walking with Christ, right, like
- 32:44being righteous and, you know, bringing others to Christ and
- 32:48everything. And then that was like Saturday
- 32:51morning and then we went to church Saturday night and then
- 32:53that was the same message, you know, and like God just sitting
- 32:57there. It's.
- 32:58Weird how that works. Yeah.
- 32:59And then like, you know, so I'm like battling that, right?
- 33:02Like, dude, I'm, I'm not perfect, you know, I am, I'm
- 33:08still working on like not being complacent, you know, and I'm
- 33:11still working at being disciplined in my faith and
- 33:15being a husband and a good father, right?
- 33:18And then like a week or a few weeks later, my apprentice ends
- 33:23up having like a blood checkup and he's like, yeah, meet me
- 33:27down at Costco. Or I was like here, we'll just
- 33:30meet at Costco and I'll pick you up and whatever, blah, blah,
- 33:32blah. Fast forward to the end of the
- 33:34day, I see my wife's cousin. His name is Troy, right?
- 33:39And he's out there and he and you know, just at first I wasn't
- 33:43going to say anything to him, right?
- 33:45I wasn't, I was going to be like, Oh, there's Troy and just
- 33:47drive off. I was like, ah, you know, like,
- 33:49you know, me and him hung out a couple times before I was like,
- 33:52I'm going to say something. So I shout out, hey, what's up
- 33:55Troy, how you doing? You know, and like he like looks
- 33:57at me and go, oh, hey, so he's like talking to these two guys
- 34:00that he's that I guess every Tuesday at Costco on the 17 and
- 34:06the 101. Oh yeah.
- 34:08Yeah, they have, like, a Bible study, you know what I mean?
- 34:12At like 1:00 or something. And so, you know, like, I start
- 34:19talking to him, you know, and we're just kind of, you know,
- 34:23bullshitting around, just talking to, you know, he's
- 34:25talking about his family, I'm talking about mine, like what
- 34:28we're doing. And then he's starts telling me
- 34:31about what he's doing with these guys, you know?
- 34:32And I'm like, oh, that's cool. And like his whole message was
- 34:36like to bring like his whole thing is to bring people to
- 34:40Christ, right? Like he wants to be a Fisher of
- 34:42men. You know what I'm saying?
- 34:43And, and so like listening to him talk, he like answered so
- 34:50much questions that I had about like myself, right?
- 34:53Like, like, I do want to be like, I want my identity to be
- 34:59through Christ. You know, I want people to look
- 35:01at me and be like, wow, like he's he's, he's, he's a man of
- 35:05God, like, right. You know, like, what is he
- 35:08doing, you know, to be like that?
- 35:11Or even just this podcast, dude, you know, like, yeah, I want to
- 35:16have a podcast to sit down and hang out and get to know people.
- 35:20But also too is like I, I can't like I do want to spread the
- 35:24word of God. It's important.
- 35:26It is, you know, and, and it's not like I'm going to be here
- 35:29like preaching like, right, you know, like that's I, I don't
- 35:32think I could do that, but. We're not going to sit here and
- 35:33read Scripture, right, But we'll talk like we're talking.
- 35:36Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:36You know, is it how it's I? Mean sometimes.
- 35:38Sometimes I make some. Scripture.
- 35:40Maybe. But I mean, we talked about it
- 35:43with Colton. Yeah, we talked about it with
- 35:44Marcus. Like, there's been a lot of
- 35:46conversation in regards to this. And I think it's cool that you
- 35:48and I talk about like our faith and our experience, you know,
- 35:52because it, it, it really is, you know, you talk about being a
- 35:54Fisher, right? Like that's, that's important.
- 35:57You're already doing that. Yeah.
- 36:00And I appreciate you saying that, but sometimes I don't see
- 36:02it like that, right? Because like because.
- 36:04You're not looking for that. Well, you know, you will always
- 36:07be your biggest critic. Yeah, right.
- 36:08And and I hate to say it like you should, you should always be
- 36:12your biggest critic. And you hope that you never hit
- 36:14the finish line, right? Because then what's what's next,
- 36:17right? But, I mean, there's no chance
- 36:20in hell did I get baptized or Sam gets baptized.
- 36:23Had we not? That's true.
- 36:25Had you and Natalie not brought us to it, Yeah.
- 36:27There's just no way. I would not have engaged it on
- 36:30my own. I wouldn't have.
- 36:32Yeah. And again, you didn't.
- 36:33And this is what I told you that day is like.
- 36:36It's not about you going out and pushing anybody to do anything.
- 36:40Do what you do, Shane. And.
- 36:42And you naturally will. Will that will happen.
- 36:45Yeah. Because it's.
- 36:46It's already happening. Yeah.
- 36:48And give yourself credit for that.
- 36:49Like it. It's a fact.
- 36:52You've already done it with two people that had never stepped.
- 36:56Yeah. You know, I shouldn't say never
- 36:57step foot in a church, but having gone since we were little
- 37:00kids, for sure. Yeah.
- 37:01And it wasn't anything. I mean, my son now, he's not
- 37:04baptized yet, but he posts every day.
- 37:07Oh, yeah, I see. Every day he posts.
- 37:08Scripture. Awesome, I like that.
- 37:09Right. And it's and he's, you know,
- 37:11he's all in on his faith and he's very, it's very big to
- 37:14them. Kayla and Landon, they go every
- 37:16weekend, right? So it's you've touched more
- 37:19people than you give yourself credit for.
- 37:22No pun intended. We'd like to take a moment and

- 39:28But no, it's you know what about you?
- 39:31I mean, we talked about how busy I am.
- 39:32You're not it's not that you're not busy, for Christ's sake.
- 39:35I mean, you're yeah, we're lineman raising 4 kids, right?
- 39:39Yeah. So you got the horse and you've
- 39:42had a lot going on lately. Well, you had your boy had you
- 39:48had to put down. And Oh yeah, I mean, there's
- 39:50dude, that was crazy. Dude, yeah.
- 39:52We had to put down our our first horse.
- 39:55Yeah, you know what I mean? He ended up colicking and
- 39:57turning his stomach and everything that that was hard,
- 40:00you know, like, 'cause I was the only one here doing it, you
- 40:02know? Yeah.
- 40:03So, well, when you called, I was like, 'cause the last time,
- 40:07right, you called when it was Oakley and you're like, dude, I
- 40:09think she's colicking. Get the trailer over here.
- 40:11Let's load her up. By the time I get here, she's
- 40:13like. Good.
- 40:14Nope, I don't want she ends up. Trailer.
- 40:15Right outside, I'm going to shit right outside the trailer and
- 40:18that's the sign. And then when you called, when I
- 40:20heard about Dusty, I was like, are we sure this?
- 40:23Is different though. Yeah.
- 40:24And then they were like, no, like he's not OK.
- 40:28And it was like we had Dusty at our house for what, 2-3 months?
- 40:33So we. Got weeks?
- 40:34What's it 2 or? Three weeks.
- 40:35Yeah, Yeah. It was there a while, but he, we
- 40:38got attached to him too. Yeah.
- 40:39I mean, we started calling him Crusty, Dusty 'cause he'd be all
- 40:42around and get all nasty. But he.
- 40:44But yeah, it was, it was sad. I mean.
- 40:46Yeah, that that was hard, dude. And then like losing our dog.
- 40:49Yeah. And I'm like.
- 40:49That was a lot. But then like 2 but two weeks
- 40:51man, I was like, it's a lot. Golly, dude, I did not think
- 40:56that. Like I it's like crazy when you
- 41:01look at what other people go through, you know, like
- 41:04sometimes, So for example, right, Like I have never been so
- 41:09close to a dog than I have ever been like solely, right.
- 41:13Solely is like my first like dog that I've been emotionally
- 41:17taught, like connected with, right.
- 41:20So like when you and Sam talk about your guys's dogs, right,
- 41:23like IA part of me is just like, well, that's kind of weird.
- 41:28Like I don't, I don't understand it right, But it's until you
- 41:32actually go through it, then you truly understand it right.
- 41:34So like me going through the whole solely thing, like, dude,
- 41:38I get it, dude, yeah, I totally get it, man.
- 41:42You know, And like another thing that really hits me too is like
- 41:45coaching, right? Like growing up playing sports,
- 41:50you know, like, some, like some coaches would cry at the end of
- 41:53the season, right? Because, you know, they're so
- 41:56emotionally invested in these kids and like, into like,
- 42:00growing them into, like, winning, right?
- 42:02Like, you go through a lot. Yeah.
- 42:04And like, as you know, as like a young kid, I'm just like, why
- 42:07you? What?
- 42:08Why are you so invested? Yeah, it's just a game, dude,
- 42:11you know? To your coach.
- 42:12Exactly. So when I coached Hayden's team
- 42:15in soccer, like we ended up, I turned that team around, dude,
- 42:19you know, just just trying to be attentive, you know, and like, I
- 42:24was putting my everything into it, right?
- 42:27Yeah. And then at the end of the
- 42:29season, we ended up going to like, the championship.
- 42:32We we lost, but I got the end right.
- 42:36Like, the game's over and we're like, we're in a huddle, right?
- 42:39And I'm just like thinking like, OK, I was going to say thank you
- 42:42for the season. And I start talking to you and I
- 42:44start choking up. Yeah.
- 42:45And I'm like, oh, my gosh, I get it.
- 42:48Yeah, I get it now, you know? And like, that's like, I don't
- 42:52know, man. Just it's like, it's like cool
- 42:54to kind of realize that stuff. But you don't understand.
- 42:58And and it's deeper than that, Shane, like it's deep in.
- 43:01So I I coached competitively for several years, right?
- 43:05And I think I told you that like we started the clothing brand
- 43:07based on my leadership style, based on Kayla developing this
- 43:11thing. And you never think that the
- 43:14kids are listening. Yeah, right.
- 43:16You just assume that you're the coach.
- 43:18They're not really listening until moments down the road
- 43:22happen. Right.
- 43:23Like the keep moving stuff. Yeah.
- 43:25That was kind of my slogan whenever we would end up
- 43:27practice. I'm like, be better tomorrow
- 43:29than you were today. And remember to always keep
- 43:31moving. It doesn't matter whether you
- 43:32have to go forward, backward, left or right.
- 43:35Just don't stay stationary. Yeah, right.
- 43:37Continue to develop. And like when they when those
- 43:43kids told me that, like, you know, that they didn't will
- 43:45never forget the idea of like, keep moving.
- 43:49I was just like, holy shit, you guys listen.
- 43:52Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 43:54But it's also knowing in being an athlete yourself and growing
- 43:57up playing sports just like I did.
- 43:59The hard part, I'll tell you, is the reality that you can only
- 44:02take the kids so far. Oh, for sure.
- 44:04And then you have to hand them off to somebody that's a much
- 44:06better coach. That was a very hard pill to
- 44:08swallow. Oh, I bet man.
- 44:10It was because you put a lot of like emotion and time.
- 44:13A. Lot.
- 44:14And it's like, you're kids, right?
- 44:15Yes, like who's going to love my kids as much as I do?
- 44:19Who's going to care about their success as much as exactly.
- 44:21Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:23And we were blessed enough to be around some really, really good
- 44:25coaches. So.
- 44:28But and that goes for Tyler, too.
- 44:29I mean, like when he started pole vaulting in track.
- 44:33I Dude, I don't know shit about pole right?
- 44:35I'm like, this is going to be a struggle for me because I can't
- 44:38help. This kid pole vault where you
- 44:39throw the spear. No, that's Javelin, but he's the
- 44:42one where you pole vault and go up and.
- 44:43Over the pole. That's right.
- 44:44That's right. OK, so and then, you know,
- 44:46what's funny is like, I didn't even think about it, but like,
- 44:48his grandfather on his mom's side pole vaulted in college.
- 44:51Yeah, his uncle on that side pole vaulted in college.
- 44:54His aunt pole vaulted through high school.
- 44:56So like all the signs were there.
- 44:59I just, I didn't pick any of it up.
- 45:00I was like, no, he's my son, he's going to play baseball and
- 45:03we're going to go do this thing, you know?
- 45:07But yeah, I mean, and I'm having, to me, it's, it's kind
- 45:11of cool because now I have like a second to, for me, a second
- 45:15set of kids and your kids. And I get and I get to kind of
- 45:18be part of that. Like I trained Zeke for
- 45:20baseball. And, you know, when you're not
- 45:22around and Drake needs to go to Buck and practice, I'm like, you
- 45:25know, I'm I'm the guy, right, Going to Hayden's volleyball.
- 45:29And like when Peyton plays soccer, you know, Peyton came to
- 45:32me the other day and was like, Nate, I want to play softball.
- 45:34Yeah. Can you help me?
- 45:35Yeah. And I was like, sure.
- 45:37Like, let's do it. And then Kayla finds out last
- 45:39night and she's like, oh, no, Dad's not coaching you.
- 45:41I'm going to do it. Right.
- 45:42So that's awesome. But it's cool.
- 45:45And, you know, it's funny. Everybody's like, oh, your
- 45:47nieces and nephews are so cute. I'm like, actually, they're my
- 45:49little cousins. They came from me.
- 45:50They came from. Me so we you know we're very
- 45:55grateful for that I mean the the the running joke is that if you
- 45:58guys ever left the state with Sam and I are following and then
- 46:01if Sam and I ever left the state you guys are following but.
- 46:04Now, yeah, we we got pretty close, man.
- 46:06I like it. We'll have a compound somewhere
- 46:08on 100 acres, so. So I got a buddy and I know we
- 46:15talked about this before we did. We did try to record a podcast
- 46:19before, but we had so many difficulties, man.
- 46:23So Steven Evans, he's a buddy of mine that I, that I went to
- 46:29school with. Yeah.
- 46:32So Steven Evans, he, he went to Peoria, played football.
- 46:36Great, great guy. And I think he, he's, he's also
- 46:43like a man of God too. And he messes me out of nowhere.
- 46:47And it's just like, hey, man, love the podcast.
- 46:50I was like, thank you. I was like, what can we do
- 46:51better, right? And he said like, nothing
- 46:54really. But just his question is what's
- 46:58the purpose? What's the what's the purpose?
- 47:04And then he would like to see like common questions for each
- 47:07guest, right? OK.
- 47:08But like, what do you think the purpose is?
- 47:13It was honestly like when we started this, this, it kind of
- 47:16started as a joke. Yeah, right.
- 47:17Like, you know, you and I are sitting around bullshitting all
- 47:20the time, and we're every Thursday we're at Dylan's, and
- 47:23you and I are just laughing and carrying on.
- 47:24And I think people just kind of naturally kind of gravitate to
- 47:28that. And then you were like, let's do
- 47:31a podcast. And I was like, all right, yeah,
- 47:33Not like I don't have anything else going on, but yeah, let's
- 47:34go ahead and do a podcast. But my thought was this just to
- 47:38create a platform where the average Joe.
- 47:40Right. Yeah.
- 47:41Or the average woman could come on and it doesn't have to.
- 47:44You don't, you don't need to be Instagram famous.
- 47:46You don't need to be, you know, a movie star.
- 47:48You don't need to be an actor. The fact that we had Colton on
- 47:51here wasn't because he's a famous musician yet, right?
- 47:56It was just, it just worked out that he he's recording at the
- 48:00time that we had him on, but really it's just giving people a
- 48:03platform to tell their story. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:06Give the middle Class A voice. Right.
- 48:08Yeah. I mean, I mean, there's so many
- 48:10unique people out there that it's like, dude, I want to hear
- 48:13it, Yeah. You want to hear about people
- 48:15that are like you? Yeah, You know what I mean?
- 48:18I don't. I don't need to hear about
- 48:19somebody that I don't have any interest in becoming.
- 48:21Yeah. Or that I can look up to, you
- 48:24know what I mean? Like I, I want to hear from
- 48:26people that are just like me that have walked in my steps
- 48:30that I can learn something from. Yeah.
- 48:31Maybe they've done it better. Exactly right.
- 48:33Or shit, maybe maybe I've done it better.
- 48:36And somebody that's listening wants to know, like, how do you,
- 48:39how do I get to wherever you're at?
- 48:40Yeah, Right. Yeah.
- 48:41If that's the case, I mean, shit, hit us up.
- 48:43We'd love to. I mean, yeah.
- 48:45I'm all about mentoring people and I and being mentored.
- 48:47To be honest with you, I think I have two mentors right now, so.
- 48:51Yeah, it's, yeah. I just, I don't know, sometimes
- 48:56I like look at people and I just think like man, like where were
- 48:58they in high school? I don't, I don't know.
- 49:00I always like revert to high school, right?
- 49:02Like, like who? Was that was your favorite type?
- 49:04Pretty much, but I mean, I think there's a lot of growth in high
- 49:07school, right? And then right after you really
- 49:10find out who you are and like what you're made of.
- 49:15But yeah, man, I, I, I love, I just, I just, I just love
- 49:21talking to people. I sometimes I, I make Natalie
- 49:24mad because we'll be out, you know, and I'll, you know, start
- 49:27a conversation and I'll keep the conversation going.
- 49:29And she's sitting there like give me like a little tap, like
- 49:32come on, wrap it up, wrap it up. You know, it's like.
- 49:35Well, it's about to get worse, Natalie.
- 49:37I'm just saying if we're starting to get recognized in
- 49:39public because we already recognized in public, but not
- 49:42because of this, it's because of, you know, just the people
- 49:47that we work with or the coaching stuff like that.
- 49:49I mean, I still to this day can be in a grocery store and you
- 49:51hear, hey. Coach.
- 49:53And I turn around and it's a kid that I coach.
- 49:55I don't really hear it as much just because really, the zone is
- 49:57so big now, man, there's so many people here.
- 50:00It drives Sam crazy. We're in Hawaii and I ran into
- 50:05people that I knew. Oh, really?
- 50:07Yeah, just out of the blue. That's funny.
- 50:09But it doesn't matter where we go, it's in it IA lot of it's
- 50:12the industry that I'm in. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 50:14When I was in the car business, I had so many customers and then
- 50:17same with now. Yeah.
- 50:19But it's just like if Natalie struggles with it now, the more
- 50:24people that recognize you, the worse it's gonna get.
- 50:26I know, but I don't think we're gonna get that big yet.
- 50:33No, I'm excited for like this, like the whole Western part of
- 50:37it now, like going into the rodeos and talking to people or
- 50:42just trying to create content, you know?
- 50:44Yeah. You know, like, I'm really
- 50:46excited for that, dude. Yeah.
- 50:48The culture is cool, right? And, and I think this gives us
- 50:51an opportunity to kind of get even more into it.
- 50:54Yeah, yeah. Just simply because now we have
- 50:56others that are opening up telling us why they're part of
- 50:58the community. Yeah.
- 51:00And what it is that they do. You know, Tree was talking about
- 51:02his, Marcus was talking about his.
- 51:04We had Colton, you know, we got Trev coming.
- 51:06And then, you know, Sam's doing gymkhanas now.
- 51:11And there's other interest in, you know, other events and stuff
- 51:14like that. So just a the more ingrained we
- 51:17get into the culture, the better that we can understand.
- 51:19It oh for sure and just try to bring it to the other people,
- 51:22right? I mean dude, I had no idea what
- 51:24Wickenburg was right. I was on a hurricane when was it
- 51:29like 2 years ago. And you know, I, the lineman
- 51:33culture is kind of cool, right? Because like once you meet good
- 51:37lineman, like you're like, you're like buddies forever,
- 51:40dude. Like I got a buddy, his name is
- 51:42Daniel Meacham, right? The only time we spent together
- 51:46was onboarding at one of the companies, right?
- 51:49And we ended up just like talking.
- 51:51We exchanged numbers because we were trying to chase storms, you
- 51:54know? And from there, it's just like,
- 51:57dude, like if there's a hurricane tomorrow and he's
- 52:00driving from Illinois to Florida and I say, hey, can you pick me
- 52:04up? Here he goes.
- 52:05Yes. Yeah.
- 52:06Right on it. You know what I mean?
- 52:07Yeah. And it's it's like that's like
- 52:09that brotherhood that, you know, we were trying to talk about.
- 52:12Yeah. I forgot what I was going with
- 52:16that. Surprise, surprise.
- 52:20Help me. Going to Illinois, he'll pick
- 52:22you up anytime. Yeah, I know.
- 52:24But what was brotherhood? The.
- 52:27You were talking about the like the building relationships in
- 52:31line school and stuff like that. I don't know.
- 52:33I got to end it now. No, I I forgot where we were
- 52:37talking about before that. It was it was going to wrap up
- 52:42into whatever we're talking about, whatever, whoever, what
- 52:45who's ever watching, you'll understand.
- 52:48This is the norm. This is how conversations go.
- 52:51It's like talking to Drake sometimes.
- 52:52Oh yeah, yeah. I don't like sauce.
- 52:56I wonder how Mustard's made. Squirrel.
- 53:00I know he's like the biggest squirrel watcher.
- 53:02Ever. He's so funny.
- 53:03Oh goodness. Listening to him and Kayla talk
- 53:05in the back seat the other night was just hilarious.
- 53:07Yeah, cuz Kayla's like, is there any more to that?
- 53:14No. No, that's it.
- 53:16That's all I wanted to say. Yep.
- 53:18And I hate like. His memory lost because he rides
- 53:20bulls. Oh gosh.
- 53:24At nine years old, he's got memory loss from writing goals.
- 53:26Yeah. I dude, when we say an old soul
- 53:28man, that dude is an old soul Fisher.
- 53:32Yeah, you know. Yeah, yeah, he, he, he
- 53:35definitely should have been raised in the the Old West.
- 53:39Oh yeah, cuz he's he's yeah. Oh, that's where I was going.
- 53:43Oh. Wickenburg.
- 53:44Yeah, so so the whole Wickenburg thing.
- 53:46See. I lose it too, yeah.
- 53:48So, so I met these lineman, right?
- 53:52And they're like, where are you from?
- 53:53You know, we started talking like, I'm from Arizona.
- 53:55He's like, oh, what part? I was like, Whitman, He goes,
- 53:57how far is that from Wickenburg? I'm like like 20 minutes away.
- 54:01He goes, dude, do you have any idea where you live?
- 54:04I was like, yeah, Whitman, Arizona, he goes, no, do you
- 54:08know what Wickenburg is? I was like, no, I don't like.
- 54:11That's like the capital of roping.
- 54:14Team roping. Yeah, of like team roping and
- 54:16I'm like, what? What do you mean?
- 54:19Yeah, You know, he like, showed me all these videos and like,
- 54:22showed me all this stuff about it.
- 54:23I'm like, holy shit, dude. Yeah, I had no idea.
- 54:26Yeah, you know, I had no idea. Yeah, there's more more money
- 54:33and horses and trailers between Whitman, Morristown and
- 54:37Wickenburg from like October to February than anywhere else in
- 54:43the world, probably, Yeah. And that's just here too, right?
- 54:46Because you got like Cave Creek, Queen Creek, you got New River.
- 54:51You know, there's, I mean, when I'm, when I'm out, when I'm out
- 54:54working, you know, like we'll go to like these big properties and
- 54:58you'll see like camper hookups. Yeah.
- 55:00For everybody to come and stay, you know?
- 55:02Yeah, it's crazy, man. Yeah, it's wild.
- 55:05So we're we're basically like a ghost town during the summer.
- 55:08There's not a lot of people here.
- 55:09And then the moment it cools down, it's and they were open
- 55:12all day every day. There's events Monday through
- 55:14Sunday in the evenings. Yeah, it's it's cool to watch.
- 55:19I mean, it's I watching them is a lot of fun.
- 55:22I wish I was that talented. I know, right?
- 55:24So I know. And like, that's like the part
- 55:25of this is like, dude, sometimes I want to go ask these people,
- 55:28like questions. Like, what do you do, you know?
- 55:31How do you afford to be here for four or five months?
- 55:33Exactly like where are you coming from?
- 55:35A lot from my understanding, like we talk, there's a a group
- 55:38of ropers that are right around the corner from us and and that
- 55:41property is only lived in for the four months that they're
- 55:44here. That's it.
- 55:46It's empty. And there's they house probably
- 55:4820 horses when they're here, there's like 5 or 6, you know,
- 55:52sleep in trailers that are there.
- 55:54And they also own the property across the street.
- 55:57And when we talk to them, they're out of Washington and
- 56:00they're all farmers. Damn.
- 56:02So they get it to the point where they sell their crop and
- 56:04then they come out here for four months and then they go back and
- 56:06then they work the fields again. That's cool.
- 56:08So this is like their leisurely time.
- 56:09Yeah, this is. They're probably busting ass all
- 56:11summer long. Yeah, they kill themselves for
- 56:13eight months out of the year so that they can spend their four
- 56:15months here and and they want to get out of the cold, right.
- 56:18But they and they come here and most of them rope in, you know,
- 56:22in Vegas for the NFR. So that's what's wild to me.
- 56:26Like I have AI have a coworker there.
- 56:28Her husband's a pro Roper. And when she found out where we
- 56:31lived, she's like, oh, you are in the Mecca.
- 56:33Yeah. And I was like, what do you mean
- 56:34we're in the Mecca? Like, I'm, I'm.
- 56:36I'm in Whitman. Yeah.
- 56:38And she's like, Oh no, we're, we're literally in your backyard
- 56:40every year for like the last 10 years.
- 56:42Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah.
- 56:44Well, I mean, a lot of these houses out here too, they're
- 56:46like vacant. Oh yeah.
- 56:48And then come roping season, yeah, they're not right, you
- 56:52know? Yeah, so crazy, crazy.
- 56:56Before we start to wrap up, we are going to start selling some
- 57:00merch. Yeah.
- 57:01So we're going to start with the black shirts that you see behind
- 57:03me. Yep.
- 57:04We'll go ahead and post that on social media, Right?
- 57:07We're going to put it out there. Yeah.
- 57:10And then what we will do is if you're interested in them, you
- 57:13can direct message the social media.
- 57:16Yeah, either Instagram or. Instagram or TikTok and then we
- 57:21will send you a Zell or a. Venmo.
- 57:25Venmo link so that you can pay. There'll be 25 bucks apiece.
- 57:28We're going to start with just the black ones, see how many
- 57:30people are interested. The goal is so today is
- 57:35September 1st. The goal would be to put the
- 57:37order in on September 15th. Have the money in by September.
- 57:41We got to have the money and the sizes in before September 5th,
- 57:45so I would say by by September 15th and then I'll do the order
- 57:49the 16th or 17th. So how how does that work?
- 57:52Will they? How does like the shipping work?
- 57:56Will. They if they're if they're
- 57:57local, then we'll just ship it out.
- 57:59OK, so we're gonna sell them for 25 bucks a piece.
- 58:02If they're out of state, we'll figure it out.
- 58:07So I would say let's just stick to 25 bucks a shirt that we
- 58:09don't have to deal with all the craziness having the clothing
- 58:12brand before a lot of the shipping is not crazy expensive
- 58:15and and we'll be fine, but we'll do 25 bucks AT shirt, OK.
- 58:19I also want to bring up there's somebody in in Australia that
- 58:22listened to our podcast. Really.
- 58:24Yes, that one's going to be more expensive to ship up a shirt.
- 58:27That's OK. However, whoever you are, hit us
- 58:30up man. Yeah, that's dope.
- 58:32Because we could maybe bring bring an Australian on here
- 58:35mate. Yeah, we can, because we can.
- 58:37We can bring them in on the. On the on the little Bluetooth
- 58:40and stuff so. Yeah, that'd be awesome.
- 58:42Well, Shane, it's always a pleasure.
- 58:44Always. OK, we keep doing this.
- 58:46Let's do it. And again, we say this all the
- 58:49time. If there's things that you guys
- 58:50want to hear or if there's people that you want us to bring
- 58:53on, yeah, hit us up, let us know, and we'd love to do it.
- 58:56Yep, peace. Bye.
- 59:01You friends, everyone's going to be friends and plus you better
- 59:04ride like you ride.
