- 0:00Speaker 1: The Mark Simone Show on 710WOR. Well, hey, if you
- 0:07Speaker 1: just joined us, you missed the first hour. Remember, it's
- 0:09Speaker 1: 9 to noon every day. Three hours, 9 to noon
- 0:12Speaker 1: every day. It's cold out. It's 56 degrees out right now.
- 0:17Speaker 1: It's cold out. Did you see President Trump greeting President
- 0:22Speaker 1: Xi at the airport there? You notice he was wearing
- 0:25Speaker 1: his overcoat? I don't mean a little thin raincoat. I
- 0:28Speaker 1: mean a heavy... cashmere overcoat and the president had gloves
- 0:33Speaker 1: on and that's in washington dc that's a far far
- 0:37Speaker 1: south of here it's cold out uh today it's fall
- 0:42Speaker 1: if you haven't been out yet uh you're gonna need
- 0:44Speaker 1: an overcoat today so we got a lot to talk
- 0:47Speaker 1: about i just heard that on the news starbucks closing
- 0:50Speaker 1: 400 locations it sounds like they're in real trouble oh
- 0:53Speaker 1: my god they're closing 400 locations well It's not that bad, actually.
- 0:58Speaker 1: They have 18,000. It's like less than 1%. It's 18,000 stores. Now,
- 1:06Speaker 1: we're going to open, while they're closing 300, they're opening 600,
- 1:11Speaker 1: although they've changed that number now to 450. 450 will open.
- 1:16Speaker 1: The reason they closed them, they're underperforming stores. And it's
- 1:20Speaker 1: not really a reflection on Starbucks. It's a reflection on
- 1:23Speaker 1: those communities that couldn't support the Starbucks community. It costs
- 1:26Speaker 1: a lot of money to close them down. They're going
- 1:29Speaker 1: to spend about $ 300 million in restructuring charges. But again,
- 1:35Speaker 1: 18,000 Starbucks all over the place. You know, I saw
- 1:37Speaker 1: this story in the news about poor Ed Sheeran. All
- 1:40Speaker 1: the controversy. Ed Sheeran lost 500,000 Instagram followers over Macklemore.
- 1:48Speaker 1: He lost 500,000. Sounds terrible, doesn't it? Well, wait a minute.
- 1:54Speaker 1: His Instagram is 47.6 million. So now it's 47.2 million.
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's not exactly a big loss. That's like a million
- 2:07Speaker 1: to 1%. 47.6 million Instagram followers. All right, I'm trying
- 2:11Speaker 1: to beat him on Instagram with followers. Go follow me
- 2:14Speaker 1: right now at Instagram. MarkSimoneNYC at Instagram. If you're not
- 2:19Speaker 1: following me on Instagram, go to my Instagram and click follow.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Mark Simone, NYC, at Instagram. So they're in panic at CNN.
- 2:32Speaker 1: They are really in panic. The merger has gone through.
- 2:36Speaker 1: David Ellison and Paramount will take over Warner Brothers Discovery,
- 2:41Speaker 1: which owns a lot of stuff. It owns HBO. It's
- 2:45Speaker 1: got CNN. It's got HBO Max. So they'll take control
- 2:49Speaker 1: of CNN. So these left-wing kooks over there convinced themselves
- 2:55Speaker 1: that everybody is a MAGA right-wing Republican. That's not the
- 2:58Speaker 1: case with David Ellison. They did this with Barry Weiss,
- 3:01Speaker 1: who's a Democrat, by the way, and comes from the
- 3:04Speaker 1: New York Times. She's not a Republican, but they were
- 3:07Speaker 1: all in panic. They're waiting for massive layoffs. Now, the
- 3:10Speaker 1: reason they should be in panic is CNN is a
- 3:13Speaker 1: ratings disaster. It's in last place in cable news. It
- 3:18Speaker 1: has a tiny audience. Anybody buying a company looking at
- 3:21Speaker 1: this would have to do something and turn this around
- 3:24Speaker 1: and fix it up. You can't leave it the way
- 3:25Speaker 1: it is. It's a ratings disaster. The guy that runs it,
- 3:29Speaker 1: look at this guy. He says, I'd like to stay.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You're in last place. You're a ratings disaster. Who the
- 3:34Speaker 1: hell would want to keep you? But here's what's really
- 3:37Speaker 1: got him panicked. Ellison is now talking about bringing in
- 3:40Speaker 1: Elon Musk. Now, they made this deal, Paramount to buy
- 3:45Speaker 1: Warner Brothers Discovery, for $ 81 billion. $ 81 billion. 81 billion
- 3:51Speaker 1: is what they paid for this. Now, if you're David Ellison,
- 3:54Speaker 1: how did he get 81 billion? Well, he went to
- 3:57Speaker 1: his father, Larry Ellison, one of the great tech billionaires,
- 4:02Speaker 1: and Larry Ellison put up 40 billion of equity financing.
- 4:05Speaker 1: 40 billion. So they're carrying a lot of debt here.
- 4:12Speaker 1: They owe a lot of money on this. So they're
- 4:15Speaker 1: talking to Elon Musk about bringing him in and selling
- 4:19Speaker 1: him $ 40 billion of the company, or maybe $ 20 billion,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but they want him to become a major investor and
- 4:26Speaker 1: a major partner. Now, as you know, left-wing Democrats, the
- 4:30Speaker 1: only thing they hate more than Donald Trump, or actually,
- 4:33Speaker 1: Donald Trump would be number one, but the next on
- 4:35Speaker 1: the list would be Elon Musk. They hate him. You remember,
- 4:39Speaker 1: Twitter was totally left-wing biased. If you were a Trump person,
- 4:44Speaker 1: even Trump himself, you were banned from Twitter. Literally banned.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Talk about freedom of speech, First Amendment. If you were
- 4:53Speaker 1: a Republican, MAGA, whatever, you were banned, literally banned. Imagine
- 4:58Speaker 1: the President of the United States, they ban you from Twitter.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Imagine the New York Post, you're like the biggest newspaper
- 5:03Speaker 1: in America. You get banned from Twitter? It was that bad.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So Musk bought it and put back neutrality into it. Anybody,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you know, doesn't matter what side you're on, you're free
- 5:15Speaker 1: to use Twitter. So they don't want that at CNN.
- 5:18Speaker 1: That's the thing with Musk. He believes in You know,
- 5:21Speaker 1: right down the middle, fairness, you know, present both sides.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And they don't like that at CNN. So they are
- 5:27Speaker 1: in absolute panic. They don't know what to do. They're
- 5:32Speaker 1: just going crazy at CNN. Now, they're also mad at
- 5:36Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom, who's, you know, wants the support of them.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But they're mad at Gavin Newsom because he backed this
- 5:43Speaker 1: Paramount deal, this takeover. Now, there was a big settlement.
- 5:47Speaker 1: You know, all the attorney generals got together and sued
- 5:50Speaker 1: to block this merger. So Ellison and Paramount had to
- 5:54Speaker 1: make all kinds of concessions. They agreed on all sorts
- 5:58Speaker 1: of things, on how much they would spend to keep
- 6:00Speaker 1: it going. Part of the deal was they had to
- 6:03Speaker 1: agree to spend a massive figure making movies every year,
- 6:08Speaker 1: make sure they were made in America. They guaranteed opening
- 6:11Speaker 1: 30 of those movies in theaters to keep the theaters going.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But in this agreement with these attorneys general, they didn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: put anything in about layoffs. They're free to lay off
- 6:23Speaker 1: anybody they want. They're free to cut the company down
- 6:25Speaker 1: to whatever size they want. So if you thought your
- 6:29Speaker 1: left-wing attorney generals were going to protect you, they did
- 6:32Speaker 1: not in this agreement. So Benjamin Netanyahu today at the UN,
- 6:37Speaker 1: it'll be a fiery speech. He will let everybody have it.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Mamdani and the anti-Semites of the world, he will tell them.
- 6:44Speaker 1: off and expose them. That's a good thing. He will
- 6:47Speaker 1: stand up to the awful anti-Semitic UN. He'll go after Iran.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So it'll be quite a speech. So far, the protesting
- 6:56Speaker 1: is totally under control for Netanyahu. We'll see what happens
- 6:59Speaker 1: when he speaks at the UN. And then he leaves
- 7:03Speaker 1: after that. There's a couple of little gatherings, but then
- 7:06Speaker 1: he'll leave. He'll be out of town by tonight, which
- 7:09Speaker 1: is good because it's just, I mean, we love Netanyahu,
- 7:12Speaker 1: but a security nightmare. Having him here. You know that
- 7:17Speaker 1: Palestinian protester, Rachel Dolezal, whatever her name is. She's this
- 7:21Speaker 1: Palestinian protester who has been quite the activist. Very anti-Israel.
- 7:29Speaker 1: She's a black Palestinian woman. And she's been protesting about
- 7:36Speaker 1: what happened to her in Gaza and protesting Israel. It
- 7:42Speaker 1: turns out the whole thing's a lie. It turns out
- 7:45Speaker 1: her real name is Hannah Gahn. It turns out she's
- 7:48Speaker 1: from the suburbs of Philadelphia. It turns out she's not black.
- 7:53Speaker 1: She's white. And it turns out she's not Palestinian. She's
- 7:56Speaker 1: actually Jewish from the suburbs of Philadelphia. She's from a
- 8:00Speaker 1: very upscale, posh suburb of Philadelphia. But this is a
- 8:05Speaker 1: lot of who this anti-Semitic crowd is. They're wealthy kids
- 8:11Speaker 1: who went to Ivy League schools, got totally brainwashed, got
- 8:15Speaker 1: totally indoctrinated into this anti-Semitic left-wing kooky crap. But yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: she's from a nice suburb of Philadelphia. Her parents later
- 8:28Speaker 1: moved to Falls Church, Virginia, of another posh suburb outside
- 8:33Speaker 1: of D.C. So she just lied about everything. It's all
- 8:36Speaker 1: totally fake. Hey, Bruce Blakeman doing very well in the
- 8:41Speaker 1: real polls, the real ones, the behind-the-scenes real polls. He's
- 8:46Speaker 1: pretty much tied with Hochul. You see all these attack
- 8:49Speaker 1: ads against Blakeman. Hochul is spending a fortune on attack
- 8:54Speaker 1: ads against Hochul. That's good. That's a good sign. That
- 8:57Speaker 1: means she's in panic. So when I tell you that
- 9:00Speaker 1: behind the scenes in the real polls, Blakeman is caught up,
- 9:04Speaker 1: she has the real polls too. And that's why she's
- 9:06Speaker 1: spending a fortune on these attack ads. Now, the problem
- 9:10Speaker 1: is she's a little too old school running TV commercials
- 9:15Speaker 1: on TV at night. Well, that's very few people. The
- 9:20Speaker 1: battle is now won on social media. Blakeman is much
- 9:23Speaker 1: better on social media than she is, much better. But
- 9:27Speaker 1: he's all over her, going after her left and right.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Kathy Hochul is a doormat for Zoran Mondami. He's running
- 9:34Speaker 2: the Democratic Party now.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He's calling the shots. Yeah, so he's tying her to Mamdani.
- 9:39Speaker 2: It's not a nine-point difference.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the fake polls, the public polls, the fake ones,
- 9:44Speaker 1: deliberately rigged. But even they now have him within single digits.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And it's not nine points. They're statistically tied right now.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It's not a nine-point difference. The Siena poll is a
- 9:56Speaker 2: biased poll. It's a Fugazi poll. I've said it over
- 10:00Speaker 2: and over again, and history has shown that. I mean,
- 10:03Speaker 2: two weeks before the election, four years ago, they had
- 10:06Speaker 2: Zeldin 11 points down, so they were five and a
- 10:09Speaker 2: half points off. So this poll is completely bogus.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Yeah, what they do in these public polls, they deliberately
- 10:16Speaker 1: rig them. They put Republicans— At 23% of the sample
- 10:20Speaker 1: instead of 38%, where they should be. They don't use
- 10:23Speaker 1: likely voters. They use whoever the hell they want. They
- 10:26Speaker 1: call it adults. They pick who they want. They don't
- 10:30Speaker 1: use the right demos. It's ridiculous. You know, Blakeman is
- 10:33Speaker 1: very strong. And this is the key to winning the race.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Blakeman is very strong with independence.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I have shown that I can be independent. Kathy Hochul
- 10:42Speaker 2: is a doormat for Zoran Mondami. He's running the Democratic
- 10:45Speaker 2: Party now. He's calling the shots.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Yeah, she lives in fear of Mondami. If he turns
- 10:50Speaker 1: on her, she can't win. She needs his support and
- 10:53Speaker 1: his crazy voters. That's the only way she wins. Here's
- 10:56Speaker 1: one of these crazy, this is a Hochul ad, I think.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Puppets are my life. You tell them what to say,
- 11:01Speaker 1: they say it. No questions. But that's not what you
- 11:04Speaker 1: want in a governor. Bruce Blakeman is 100% MAGA and
- 11:09Speaker 1: stands with Trump on everything. You know, it's funny. She's
- 11:13Speaker 1: spending a fortune on attack ads, attacking him for everything.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But apparently this guy's as clean as a whistle and
- 11:20Speaker 1: he's got a phenomenal track record. Because the only thing
- 11:23Speaker 1: she found to attack him on is he's friends with
- 11:25Speaker 1: Donald Trump. He likes Donald Trump. She can't find anything
- 11:29Speaker 1: to attack him on. Nothing bad happened while he was
- 11:33Speaker 1: county executive. In fact, he did a phenomenal job. There's
- 11:36Speaker 1: nothing bad in his record. Nothing bad with him personally.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's all she can hit him with, that he's friends
- 11:41Speaker 1: with Donald Trump. That's all she's got. That's pretty pathetic.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But help out Bruce Blakeman. You can do it. You
- 11:49Speaker 1: want to donate? You want to volunteer? Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. BlakemanForNewYork.com.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know, it's funny speaking of donations. Blakeman's ex-wife, Nancy,
- 12:00Speaker 1: is married to Paul McCartney. And they have a good relationship.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Paul McCartney and Blakeman have a good relationship. It's kind
- 12:10Speaker 1: of odd. Your ex-wife marries a Beatle. So his ex-wife, Nancy...
- 12:16Speaker 1: just donated 18,000 to Kathy Hochul's campaign. But don't take
- 12:21Speaker 1: it as any reflection on Bruce Blakeman. I think she
- 12:23Speaker 1: had to do that because she's married to Paul McCartney.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And Paul McCartney is a big Democrat. He hates Trump.
- 12:34Speaker 1: He's not a fan of any Republican. So that's just
- 12:39Speaker 1: automatic that if you're married to Paul McCartney, you're going
- 12:42Speaker 1: to be making You're going to be making Democratic donations. Now, McCartney,
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know, and the money might be actually from McCartney. Well,
- 12:51Speaker 1: why didn't he donate it? He can't. He's a British citizen.
- 12:54Speaker 1: He's not a U.S. citizen. So he's barred from donating
- 12:57Speaker 1: to campaigns. But again, he really, really is anti-Trump. So
- 13:04Speaker 1: that explains that pretty fast. Netanyahu speaks today at the U.N.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Alan Dershowitz will be there. He's Netanyahu's attorney. He'll be
- 13:12Speaker 1: there today. And Dershowitz, he might be helping the Trump
- 13:18Speaker 1: legal case against the press. This judge yesterday put in
- 13:23Speaker 1: a restraining order. Trump banned some crazy left-wing networks, Politico
- 13:29Speaker 1: and CNN and MSNOW from the White House. A judge
- 13:33Speaker 1: has ruled against that ban. He's put a stay on
- 13:37Speaker 1: the ban. He's put a stop to that ban for
- 13:40Speaker 1: at least 14 days. What that means is the judge
- 13:43Speaker 1: thinks the press may have a good case. So he's
- 13:46Speaker 1: put the ban on hold for 14 days. And then
- 13:50Speaker 1: they go back into court. But Dershowitz argues that Trump
- 13:53Speaker 1: has every right under the First Amendment to ban outlets
- 13:56Speaker 1: from the White House. And this has nothing to do
- 13:58Speaker 1: with freedom of speech. They're free to speak all they want,
- 14:00Speaker 1: these networks. Nobody's restricting their speech. They're just restricting physically
- 14:05Speaker 1: what rooms they can go into. But it's not like
- 14:08Speaker 1: when Trump was kicked off Twitter and all social media.
- 14:12Speaker 1: That would be a First Amendment issue. They removed him
- 14:15Speaker 1: from the platform so he couldn't speak. Trump is not
- 14:18Speaker 1: shutting down Politico. He's not shutting down CNN or MSNOW.
- 14:23Speaker 1: They're free to do whatever the hell they want. And
- 14:25Speaker 1: since the ban was in effect, they're covering Trump the
- 14:27Speaker 1: same exact amount 24-7. But Dershowitz, brilliant lawyer, he may
- 14:35Speaker 1: be the one going into court arguing this. Hey, Rosie O'Donnell?
- 14:40Speaker 1: You remember she filled in for Jimmy Kimmel? on ABC,
- 14:45Speaker 1: Kimmel taking the whole summer off. She filled in for him. And,
- 14:49Speaker 1: of course, she went after Trump every night. But there
- 14:51Speaker 1: was one skit she said ABC forced her to drop it.
- 14:55Speaker 1: She said she was going to do, she's on a podcast,
- 14:58Speaker 1: she was going to do a takeoff on the song
- 15:01Speaker 1: Danny Boy, but go after Trump. It was going to
- 15:04Speaker 1: be called Donny Boy, and it was some kind of anti-Trump.
- 15:07Speaker 1: She says the network killed it. The network said, we
- 15:09Speaker 1: don't want you to do that. She thinks it was
- 15:11Speaker 1: because there's a lawsuit between Trump and ABC going on.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But the key to this is she's on a podcast
- 15:19Speaker 1: going after ABC, attacking them. So what we really learned
- 15:24Speaker 1: from this is she filled in for a few days
- 15:28Speaker 1: for Kimmel on ABC. She thinks it went great. She
- 15:33Speaker 1: thinks she was a big hit. But obviously, if she's
- 15:36Speaker 1: now attacking them, ABC and her agents, whoever, Apparently, ABC
- 15:42Speaker 1: said to them, yeah, thanks for filling in. We don't
- 15:44Speaker 1: need you anymore. Not interested. If it was really good,
- 15:49Speaker 1: they would have started talking to her about a show,
- 15:51Speaker 1: about doing something. Let's work together. Apparently, they didn't like
- 15:55Speaker 1: what she did. They didn't like her. Apparently, the ratings
- 15:58Speaker 1: stunk because they're not interested in anything else with Rosie O'Donnell.
- 16:02Speaker 1: You can be sure that's the case if she's suddenly
- 16:04Speaker 1: going public attacking ABC. And what the hell is she
- 16:07Speaker 1: doing here? I thought she left the country. You promised
- 16:12Speaker 1: you were leaving the country. All of a sudden, she's
- 16:14Speaker 1: all over the place again. Anyway, the phones are fixed.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Remember yesterday we had no phones? The phones are fixed.
- 16:22Speaker 1: We can take some calls. We'll do that next. 800-321-0710
- 16:24Speaker 1: is the number.
- 16:25Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
