- David: Do not adjust your screen. Do not change that dial. You are in the right place just with a different face. That's all. Listen, Greg ran the numbers. He's analytical. He did all the work. He did all the got all the comments and everything. And he realized, you know what? We don't have enough female listeners. We're down on female listeners. And he thought there's one place to go. I mean, it's a no brainer, baby. Bring in the old sub, all right? Just bring him in. Bring in the righty, they said. Greg: That's David: Now look, life gets in the way. Things happen. Look, we can't be here all the time. So you you may see somebody missing. That's fine. He's gonna be popping back in and out. I may not be here for every show as as well, but things are gonna happen, baby. But we're gonna keep it rolling. We're gonna keep it going. I am one of your hosts of Common Sense Superheroes David. The other half of the Common Sense Superheroes with David and Greg is right up in my left-hand corner. I don't know where he is on y'all screen, but you you know who he is. You know who he is. But he is here Gregory, what does it feel does it feel like you you on common sense superheroes with me over here? Greg: Well, as long as you don't get me in trouble on this episode by immediately starting a conversation and posting clips of nice, attractive young women on social media. No, I think I'm glad to have you on board. ⁓ yeah, we we had to make some changes. Like you said, life happens, things ⁓ things get tossed around and shook up sometimes. And I think this is ⁓ I think this is gonna be a provement and a win for everybody. Well almost everybody. Chad's not winning here. David: Well ⁓ he'll be back. He's I got a feeling there'll be a fourth square or sometimes I can't be here. It's coming, it's happening. Have faith. ⁓ ye a little faith, okay? Why Greg decided to bring me aboard? Because when it comes to betting, I don't know Jack Squat. I don't know what I'm talking about. But we do have on here whiskey and winners. We do have another friend up there, not just Greg. We got one Mr. Brian who knows his stuff. We got a pro expert over there and not gonna lie. Lighting's a little off, which is ironic since he's a Florida State fan. I mean, what is up with what up with what's up with these seminoles and the lighting? We can't get the lighting right. What's up, Brian? Brian: No. Greg: Mm-hmm. Brian: What's going on? Looking forward to it. Looking forward to working with you and ⁓ putting some good winds out there again this week. David: Listen. I don't wanna give away what he does for a living, but when you go to pay your taxes in is you Macon, Bibb County, is that where we at? Brian: Columbus. David: Columbus, ⁓ we in Columbus. Listen, when you go to pay your taxes in Columbus and you like, man, I really hope I'm helping support the local firemen and all that. Just know they buying whiskey with all that tax money. Cause I don't know if you can look behind there. My man, this is called whiskey and winters. I don't know about the winners part, but he's winning in something because he's got quite the collection up there. I see some blends. What'd I see? I see enough ⁓ Taylors, Colonel Taylors are just I mean, there's a lot of lot of boxes up there. Greg: David, I'd like to point out that I'm the one that named the show Whiskey and Winners, and I myself have not had a drop of alcohol in five months. And my partner here, B Nobles, is about the only one providing winners with any sort of consistency. So not sure what my role is now that you're hosting, but I'm gonna try to dig in here and do something useful. David: One of the reasons he brought me on, because Brian was bored. He's like, you know what, I need somebody to drink with me. And I'm here with you, big dog. I got a little blantons too. It's a bottle I've been I've been babysitting forever, because I ain't got that kind of that firefighter Columbus cheddar like you got that can find blantons all over the place. But I got a little something, okay? So I got that going for me. This is whiskey and winners. Greg always says it before, and he'll let you know. If you're if your life, if your wife is gonna leave you, based on whether or not a field goat is made, don't be doing it. Okay? Same goes with the whiskey. All right. I love a good drink and we all love a little good drink. But if it depends on your wife leaving your nut or your kids having food on the table, don't be doing it. All right. Get get yourself right. Let's have a little fun with it. All right. It's only fun if we y it ain't a li a life or death situation. Greg: No doubt. David: Good insight, Greg. Good insight. I was hoping a little more out of you. Brian, what do you say? Brian: Let's go screen, I'm ready. David: Brian, I like Bri Brian's like, I'm just what is this idiot doing over here? He's like, Why did this happen, Greg? He's like, Did we talk about this? You didn't tell me he was gonna be cheesy and corny the whole time. Greg: He's heard our show, he knows. David: He knows what's up. Big weekend of college football. I made the joke about the lights going out down in old Tallahassee. I don't think we talked to Brian since the old SMU came rolling into town. The old Pony Express. I thought Eric Dickinson came back there. Kevin James, Craig James, he was back there too. SMU comes through rolling, but Florida State looked good. What say you, Brian? That's your team. That's your boys. Brian: I I don't think they look good at all. I mean, they ⁓ SMU turned the ball over four times. They tried their best to get Florida State to win that ball game and they could not take advantage of it. I believe that that game you put the two teams on the field, neutral sight with you know, not all those turnovers, I think that Florida State would have got beat by twenty. David: ⁓ geez. So the home field darkness did have a little something to do with it. The old clock going out. buddy. Greg, before we move on to some clock issues, we're gonna kinda go over a little bit of last week and I'll let y'all tell about your your winners or not so winners, ⁓ but we'll we're gonna kind of review what happened a little bit last week. Greg, what do you think about SMU L S U? I know we went over it on our show, but Brian: Yeah. Greg: Well, as as as the name of the show implies, it is whiskey and winners and I hadn't had any whiskey, but that was in fact a winner at least. They did cover the three and a half and they did not look good doing it. I I gotta agree with Brian. When you when you gotta get four turnovers at home to cover a three and a half number, it it's not a good thing. But ⁓ no, I mean look, it it's a rebuilding year. They're they're in the process. I I don't expect Norvell to finish the season for them. It would have been great for them to get an extra home win early in the season and and maybe start some momentum. David: Yay. Mm. Greg: SMU is clearly the better team. If if Kevin Jennings can can not average three and a half turnovers a game, he would have been in the Heisman contention, ⁓ or at least been it been talked about. So ⁓ the game played out about like I thought too. If ⁓ SMU was able to move the ball pretty much at will. And I'm with Brian. If it weren't for the turnovers, it's it's easily a fourteen, possibly twenty, twenty-one point game. David: I like seeing I mean, listen, I get it, it's Florida State. I love seeing Florida State being up there and being good. It's been a minute, but I enjoy seeing Florida State be good. I mean, I don't quite recall it as well as I remember the thirty for thirty, but the SMU, I like seeing them good. I like seeing guys that you know, when I was coming up that were your your talented teams and FSU's one of ⁓ I wanna see them make a little bit of a comeback. Especially since it's A C C I don't care as much, but I think Brian agrees. He wants to see a little comeback. Kinda hoping when Dion Dion was available that he was gonna take that job, but might be a I'm just saying, what why didn't we get Dion? Why did y I say we why didn't they get Dion? You don't think he they thought he didn't have the the experience or what? Brian: Yeah. He didn't have the experience at the time and I'm not sure that ⁓ that that's the right move either. I mean I like you, I like Dion, but I'm not sure that's the that's the route. And then I'm with Greg also. I feel like after ⁓ Miami game and I think I put that on our preseason show after Miami blows Florida State out, I think that's gonna be the end of Norvell. David: Well, that's probably gonna happen 'cause Malakatoni is a stud. But I'm saying Dion, if you a ka if you a high school athlete in the state of Florida and Dion Rose in your house, I mean I'd give it a second glance. I'd take a look. I feel like he can get some Florida folk. Now Georgia's kinda taking over. Brian: The problem it problem is he don't do in home visits. David: He's too good. He's too good. He's just he's like going off name alone. Name alone. Before we get into the picks, I want to try something. I just want to get to know Brian. I want to get to know Greg, even though I know Greg. I think we might have done this on the show, Greg, on Common Sense Superheroes. What you need to check out. We're upstair episode fifty five coming up soon. ⁓ if you could go back, Brian, your team's Florida State. So we're gonna go Florida State. Not the best player, not the one that you think is gonna win the most, but the The player that you would want to go watch for four years at Florida State again from just a flat out fun to watch, entertaining, that you've seen. I can't don't be going back talking about Burt Reynolds and how he would slay through the old coeds. Don't do that. Go back to Florida State. What player would you want to go watch and just for four years have on your squad again? Brian: There's a bunch of ⁓ and ⁓ I see what Greg's pointing, but and he was a good one, but that ain't the where I'm gonna go. I I I would have to go back and watch Peter Warw again. He was Peter Warwick was unbelievable. You put the ball in his hands, he could score from anywhere, punt returns, anything. He was ⁓ he was awesome player, probably the best athlete I've seen outside of Dion. David: That I was hoping that was where he was gonna go. I'll be honest, I didn't really wa pay much attention to Dion in college, even though I you know, I was around then, but I didn't watch him that much because I was, you know, a little bit of a Florida State, but they kinda started rolling right after Dion left when it was old free shoes university. But Peter Wark, son, whoa. S' I mean, electric is a word that you don't use you use too often, but it's not not too much in this case, cause he was electric. He was Vickish. Greg: Should have won the Heisman. David: Should've. Who won the husband that year? Charles Woodson, yep. Well Greg: Charles Woodson. With less, less impressive stats than the very Champ Bailey had on both sides of the ball the next year, and Champ didn't even get sniffed. David: I know that is ridiculous, but it was ⁓ it was a Michigan. ⁓ we'll get into Michigan. ⁓ we'll get into Michigan. Greg, same question to you. In Teams Georgia. Don't go back to Herschel Walker. I know you ain't that damn old to remember Herschel Walker. You're watching it, you're you're you're twelve year old Greg sitting there with your little popcorn watching Georgia Bulldogs. Who's the player you want to watch for four more years? Greg: Well, it it depends. I my my seventeen reference for Florida State was I think Charlie Ward would be the guy that can come in and single handily have the biggest impact and make the biggest difference on this current roster. And that's how we talked about it from the UGA standpoint. Hello, dude. I look just in the last handful of you, you got cats like Gurley and Bowers and Stets. I mean we've had some special dudes. I if I could add one to this year's this year's roster. Man, as hard as it is, I I think we're talented across the board, but it'd hard it'd be hard not to add Roquan Smith, because Roquan, his last year in Athens, that dude was just a human eraser. Like he made it felt like he made every tackle some games. And a lot of those tackles were at or behind the line of scrimmage. He was a heat-seeking missile. I have never seen somebody watching him his last year at Athens. The the way he diagnosed play, he he almost knew where the ball was going or where the play was before the offense did, and then he arrived with bad intentions more often than not. ⁓ I I just th we didn't get to see enough of him and so that's why I'd Roquan Smith, I'd love to have gotten a full four years to see what that that dude could do. David: Much like most Smiths, he was a physical specimen. I mean, I don't know if you know, but the Smiths like that. That's how we built son. I was thinking more alone, not necessarily to add to this roster, but just from an entertaining factor. He doesn't get the love he does, but he was exciting. No Sean Merino. He was fun to watch. He had a hurdle or two. He was doing a little Saquon hop before Saquon made it popular. He was fun to watch. I enjoyed old No Shawn. But like you said, the the list goes on and on. You c who you want to pick, but Greg: Facts. David: He's one of the ones I would probably pick. Now, let's get to Michigan. I mean, there's talks about them wanting to try to overturn it. They it doesn't matter at this point. You can't can't put the toothpaste back in the tooth. You know the saying. Whatever the heck it is. You can't do it. But Brian, I know you watched the game. Did you watch it live? Greg didn't watch it live. Were you watching live? Brian: I didn't watch it live, but I've watched the ⁓ hundreds and hundreds of replays they've showed over and over and over and I still don't see where they found that one second, but Greg: ⁓ David Bri Brian was in fact one of the forty seven people that was trapped in my house during that Saturday. David: I don't I don't get it. I don't know where they get this second from. We went over it the other day and they talk about, well, now they're going to go change the rules where you have one clock. Why the hell do we have a different clock to start with? The clock should sync up. In this today's technology, how can we not have this clock syncing up? Go on and go. Hurry up. This is this live footage. Look at that. Boom. That's how it goes with his bad knee and everything. How did the clock how do we have two different clocks? And ⁓ by the way. Brian: Ha ha. David: And to avoid controversy, how about the clock that I don't know, three million people are seeing? How about we go with that one? 'Cause you just adding to the conspiracy theories that Dave Portnoy's putting money on Big Ten and gonna make something happen. Brian: It was bad for sure. I I like I said, I went black, watched everything, watched the different stuff, and when it showed one second on the T V I was looking at the ball looked like it was still even with the goalpost. David: I don't You gotta knock it down. Don't catch a ball. You gotta knock it down on a hell well and also you still gotta make that catch and you still gotta do that next play, which you know, that kinda goes against the conspiracy theory thought, 'cause what are the chances of that? Well, apparently pretty good. But that was you you can't let that happen. Come on, guys. Greg: That that was as monumental and as obvious of a blown and egregious call as the perfect game for Cabrera against the Tigers a few years back. Where it was just like you could see it, like it was clear as day it was a missed call, and it was a huge moment. I told you on our show, I I just saw the the Hailberry touchdown completed. So my first thought was not even knowing what had led up to it was wow, that's crazy that Michigan needed a Hailberry to win that game. It wasn't until late Saturday night or early Sunday morning that I realized. David: Yeah. Greg: how they even got in the position to be throwing that Hail Mary. Absolutely unc it's just uncalled for. That is it in this day and age, you're right, with modern technology, there's absolutely zero excuse for anything like that. And again, we have to talk about it just because the nature of this show. What if you were holding a Western Michigan moneyline ticket? David: Buddy. You had to fill what's they had to cover, right? What was the s what was the spread? Greg: But if you had a money line, like it would have been like plus two grand, you a hundred dollars would've won two thousand for them to win the game outright. David: ⁓ See, there you go. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. I don't even know what you mean. This Shane, well, Chad, why'd you do this to me? Why'd you make me come do this? No way, they're gonna make me look foolish. All right. This is why they look, Greg's like, hey, you wanna come on the show and you know, I help out or whatever? No, turns out they just want to make themselves look better. That's all they want to do. They want to put on an idiot up here that don't know what the hell he's talking about. That way they look like geniuses. They look like they belong on ESPN. That's what it is. I I you're gimmicked. Greg: Well, I can tell you this, if I was still in char in charge and running this show, we'd have already been talking real football and giving out picks by now. David: This is have a little fun, okay? Can you have a little fun? We're trying to get all the listeners, Greg. Sometimes you gotta have go about it. Greg: I was perfectly well I was ready and prepared to have fun, but you cut out my intro because I was ready to bash Chad mercilessly and you wanted to take charge and keep that from happening. David: That's that's that's why I cut it out. I knew where you were, I knew where you were going. Now, getting to the games, I'm gonna do a little surprise. I'm not gonna we're not gonna go in order. I don't know if y'all got an order, but we're gonna start with if in honor of Ty Eves and in honor of Dolly, we're gonna go with Tennessee at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech coming off a loss to them Colorado Buffaloes and won Deion Sanders, Greg's favorite player of all time. Tennessee is giving up twelve and a half. And fifty-five and a half is the over the total. Is that over under? Is that how you say it? Now Tennessee giving up twelve and a half? Brian: Yeah. David: At Bobby Dodd? I don't know, what say you, Brian? Let's start with you, Brian. Brian: I was impressed last week with ⁓ Faison Brandon from Tennessee. Quarterback looked great. He three touchdowns, ran for two touchdowns, but they were playing Furman. I was not impressed with how Georgia Tech's defense looked against Colorado. Colorado beat them up up front big time, ran the ball all over ⁓ Mendoza did okay, but whatever. ⁓ but one thing with this game, no, he's not Fernando. ⁓ this game looking at David: He's no Fernando. Not yet, anyways. Brian: You know, I'm gonna I was trying to dig into this game to see where I wanted to go with it, and ⁓ you gotta factor in a Brent Key factor. I mean, in a game like this, Brent Key is seven and ⁓ against the spread as an underdog. He's won three of those games outright. So I think he's gonna fix those issues he had against Colorado. And I think he's gonna give this freshman quarterback, even though he looked good from Tennessee, his is his first road start, he's gonna give him all kind of problems. David: ⁓ yeah. Brian: at Bobby Dodd. And I was able to get the line at thirteen and a half. So I couldn't stay away from that. My first official play of the night will be Georgia Tech plus thirteen and a half. David: See, that is the deep analysis that you get on this show. Not from me, but that is what you get from this show by these pseudo pros. We'll we'll call ⁓ pros in this game. That is some deep stuff. I like it. I personally Dolly just passed R. I. P. baby. You know what I'm saying? It's got the little Dolly emblem, the butterflies and all that. But I don't know. I'm still still that's a high number, Greg. What say you? Greg: Yeah, as somebody who ⁓ got burned early this season, I I was on Tech minus the six and a half against Colorado. I just thought first game of the season, I'm I'm a big fan of Brent Key, and that's hard to say as a Georgia fan. ⁓ I I know that the absence of Haynes King is a big deal. I I watched that game and and maybe I saw it a little differently than somebody. I I felt like Tech should have should have won the game and possibly should have even covered I also got to look at you got a true freshman quarterback and he looked good, but that was not the same kind of matchup. You coming into Bobby Dodd Stadium at night on Saturday. I like I got it twelve and a half on my number. If Brian says there's a 13 and a half out there or whatever, if you could get 12 and a half, 13, 13 and a half, I like tech at home to cover that that number. ⁓ that's almost two touchdowns. I am I am just not sold that that true freshman will be able to put up the kind of points he did in the first week. And I look for Brent Key to to make some adjustments. I don't think Tech's as bad as what we saw. ⁓ and again, it pains me to say it, but I I think Brent Key's a heck of a coach and I look for him to get them right. ⁓ I I would definitely not be laying the twelve and a half or thirteen. I I'm taking the points with Tech at home. Brian: I can't give out the book you I can't give the book out that you're going to get it for because obviously they're not sponsoring us, but it's out there. David: Big place. It's a g Brian got thirteen and a half from a guy named Tommy Thumbs. So I hope he hits. I'm just saying. If not, it's gonna be ugly. Gonna be ugly. Now the over under fifty five and a half, that is a decent amount of points, but like you said, Georgia Tech's defense, if Colorado, even with those all those fumbles and whatnot by old Juju, they still were able to put put up a little something. What do you say? ⁓ Brian? Greg: All right, but if there's a thirteen and a half, grab it. Brian: Ha ha ha. I I I stayed away I stayed away from the total. I just went with the ⁓ the line. I mean I can't make a play on that. If I had to lean one way or the other it'd probably be to the under just knowing Georgia Tech's defense and they'd playing against a ⁓ freshman quarterback, but I didn't make a official play on that. David: Did you say already? Greg: Yeah, I I complete agreement. If it it gun to my head, I would lean towards the under just 'cause I I see some mistakes and I don't think Tech's offense is is gonna blow up and and go put forty on anybody. So ⁓ yeah, at a at a number in the mid fifties I would lean to the under. But I think I think Tech plus the thirteen and a half is the more solid play in that game. David: Mm. I like it. I like it. I think I would go I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, but I too would go that way. I think Georgia Tech, there's no way they're gonna lose by fourteen at home on a Saturday night. I don't see it happening. Even with the Dolly Spirit going on in Tennessee. Sorry, Ty. I think you might get the win, Ty, but I don't think you're gonna get the cover. So shout out to Ty who's in town this week. Next up we're gonna go we talked about him earlier. We talked about those Wolverines out of Michigan, baby. A big game. A big game this weekend. I think it's big. I don't I think it's gonna be pretty a blowout to be honest with you. But Oklahoma's taking on Michigan at the big house ten Annabah. Oklahoma is giving up five and a half. And boy, if any any indication this last weekend, it Oklahoma gonna put on something. Let's start with you this time, Greg. What do you say? Greg: I don't have an official play on this. ⁓ my model likes Oklahoma minus five and a half. There's something in me that it's just one of those. It smells absolutely fishy. We saw Oklahoma dominate. We saw how Michigan got not even lucky. Michigan had to cheat to get the W against du Western Michigan. No reason the books hang a five and a half number with Oklahoma here. That alone scares me off of playing it either way. But I'm gonna tell you. Just because it smells that darn bad, if I had to play it, I would lean towards Michigan at home plus the five and a half points. I yeah, I don't know how, but I think that's one of those if if you got ⁓ if if you want to make a play, 'cause it's the big noon game and you're gonna watch it, hold your nose, just don't think about it, take it like a shot, grab Michigan in the points and just hope you get there in the end. David: Hm. I'll tell you one thing they're gonna do because they look like absolute fools rushing the field, having to beat Western Michigan on a damn Hail Mary, and you're gonna rush the field like you just won the championship? Get the hell out of here. They p they're gonna damn sure rush the field this weekend if they were to pull off what I consider to be an upset against Oklahoma. Brian, what say you, other than the fact that they look like fools out there rushing the field? Did would you ⁓ when you saw that, did you think like What the hell are they doing? Why are they rushing the field on again beating western Michigan on a Hail Mary? Brian: Meh but Yeah, that that was the first thing I noticed after that one second when that happened, I said, That's kinda embarrassing that Michigan is rushing the field, but hey David: Yes. Even if it even if it was no controversy and you do win outright on the first Hail Mary attempt, that's still ridiculous. But anyways, you got five and a half, Oklahoma giving up, Brown, what say you? Brian: I'm kinda I'm that line kinda scares me like Greg said, so I kinda started looking into other stuff is what I like to do when I'm gambling and I feel like Michigan, when they do have the ball, they're gonna try to control the clock, try to run the pace. That's Kyle Whitningham. This is fixing to be the best defense that Bryce Overwood's ever seen. Oklahoma's got an elite defense. Last year, Michigan was only able to score thirteen points on ⁓ Oklahoma. So what I took with this play, I s I mean, I expect ⁓ to see a bunch of blitz packages, very complex stuff. Brent Venable's in a big game, just for a little bit of context on that. Last year against Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, and LSU, who all had pretty good defenses, he gave up sixty seven points in those four games. So my play on this game will be the Michigan team total under twenty one. I mean under twenty and a half points. David: Geez. Brian: I don't think Michigan can run enough plays to score twenty one points on a Brent Venables defense. So I'm gonna s stay under twenty and a half team total on Michigan. David: Hmm, interesting. Well listen, if if if last week's Indy Indication, boy, they can't seem to get nothing right. And the coach, I don't know if you saw those interviews, ⁓ he didn't seem so optimistic about old Bryce. He was not singing his praises as much as he should have. He was questioning a little bit, and he should have, 'cause he did not look good. So throwing a little curveball in there. Greg: I I I am by no means making this an official play. Like I said, I don't have a play on this game, but I'm just telling you right now, just to put it out there on video, this is one of those games where if I wake up Sunday morning trying to figure out how in the hell Michigan beat Oklahoma, I don't think I'm gonna be that surprised. Just saying. David: I I go based on feel and total nonsense and my buddy Tyler, Coach Tyler, as you know, Greg. ⁓ he is an Oklahoma boy. He played out in in Oklahoma for and he coached at Clemson with Brian Venerbros, I believe it was. I think he coached with him there a little bit. So he's a b he knows him and he's a big fan of him. So I'm gonna go with Oklahoma, the beautiful state of Oklahoma. And it's not just cause I like Tulsa King, although that does help. But Oklahoma is Giving up five and a half, I think they're gonna cover. Even though I don't even know what cover means. I don't know why I'm on here. This is ridiculous. Let's go down south again, baby. Although we're not outside. They play a down south team. Memphis. I don't know if you like ribs, but I love ribs. I need to go to Memphis and try some ribs. Go check out Graceland. But Memphis is traveling to Boise State. Do they still have that ugly ass field, the blue field? Come on, what are we doing? Brian: Exactly. ⁓ yeah. Greg: They do. David: Is it true that ducks will die down there just flying into it? Why we do that? That is unreal. Albertson Stadium, the blue turf at six o'clock on Saturday night it appears. Boise State is giving up seven a half on Memphis. Greg, what say you? Greg: That has been a thing, yes. I can't get comfortable with a side on this. And and honestly, I don't have an official play on it either way. I I think there will be some points on the board. If I was looking at something, I'd be looking towards the over. ⁓ maybe when the team totals pop, I might look at something that way. I I think Boise wins the game. I I kind of would lean towards Boise covering seven and a half, eight, just a weird number. You you just over a touchdown, so it just doesn't feel like a lot of value. ⁓ but I I think the over-under on this was fifty-four and a half, fifty-five, somewhere around there. ⁓ my models consistently got it coming in closer to around sixty. So if I was going to put a play on this, I'd probably play the over and it's always fun to cheer for points regardless. ⁓ but other than that, I got I got nothing official on this game. It it should be an interesting game. And I think this is one that we might want to pay attention to because these two teams are going to factor into some stuff down the road and be playing some games that will have an impact. ⁓ and there will be some times where we need to remember back to what we see here on Saturday evening because these two teams are going to be factored into some bets we're going to make down the road. David: Hmm. Interesting, interesting. Did you follow all that, Brian? He goes too so in depth, and I know you do too. Let's see what you got. You got the Tigers versus the Broncos. What you got? Brian: I did. I'm I feel like Greg does. I mean, this is arguably gonna be the most critical group of six game of the of the season. I mean, the winner of this game probably got the inside track to get to the playoff as the group of six representatives. So I'm looking forward to watching this game. One thing I can tell our listeners, don't get caught up in the two and ⁓ record against the ⁓ and one record. You know, boys who took gave Oregon all they wanted last week. So and they're pla they're playing at home. David: They did. That was a good game. Brian: I'm like Greg. I I mean I'm gonna enjoy watching this game, but I'm not gonna make an official play in this game. If I had to make a lean on this game, kinda on along the same lines, I would take a team total and that would have been Memphis plus I mean Memphis over twenty three and a half points. David: Mm. Well, I don't know. I mean, Oregon didn't put up a whole ton of points against Memph ⁓ against Boise, so I don't know. We'll see. Didn't they have a quarterback? I know, it is week one. It is hard to tell 'cause it's we got didn't Boise State at one time have a quarterback that baited onto the ⁓ college football game. I feel like he was on co Greg: We week one. They've had several. They all quarterbacks made it onto the college football games for a while. Brian: Yeah, they got ⁓ Kellen Moore. He's a ⁓ I think he's NFL head coach now. David: From Boise State. Wasn't there was it him? Was there one that made it on the bo the college football, the official college football NC NCAA the cover of the NCAA football? I feel like there was some Boise State guy that made the cover. I wanna say a lefty quarterback. Greg: You talking about to be the O be the cover? Brian: It would've Yeah. Now they had a they they had a heck of a running back last year in Ashton Genty, but he's playing on Sunday now. Greg: It would have been Kellen Moore if it was. David: Yeah. I don't know what that's you know what, just 'cause He did. I think I have him on ⁓ I think I have him on my fantasy this year with the ⁓ Raiders, right? For the record, I got Jalen Hurts and Genty. You can mark it down. They're gonna be hurt. No way they make the season. Every time, every damn time I do fantasy. Last year I had Joe Burrow and I had ⁓ Tyreek Heel, hurt, hurt. Everybody I get I had ⁓ what's Scataboo hurt, so just know. Brian: Mm-hmm. Yep. David: Genty, if you got Genty, trade ⁓ If you got Jalen Hurts, trade ⁓ 'Cause it ain't gonna happen. I'm the worst at gambling. Again, why am I here? ⁓ let's go. Let's move to Georgia. Beautiful Sanford Stadium. And one thing I know, if you play a directional team, your chances are pretty good. We play in Western Kentucky. Anytime you play in a team that's a direction, you got a good chance. In Georgia, they gotta score forty and a half in order to cover the spread. Western Kentucky's taking forty and a half, Greg. Over and under. I got on here is fifty five and a half. I think you can bump that up. I would take I'm not good at math, but I'll take that over. Greg, what say you? We'll start with your team out of Georgia. West of Kentucky versus Georgia at twelve forty five. Won't be a hundred and seven, I hope, at game time. Greg: Well, I as as thoroughly impressed and and excited as I was watching them Saturday handle business and and look pretty damn good doing it. ⁓ Brian knows my rule. There ain't no chance in the world I'm laying forty anything against anybody. They could be playing against air and I'm not betting Georgia minus this many points. I I look I think Western Kentucky's a step up in competition. I think with the With the show we put on last week, if anything, I'm looking at this going, that's gotta be a slightly inflated line. Again, I got no official play. I would certainly be willing to take the forty plus forty and a half if ⁓ if anybody wanted me to you know force me a hand. ⁓ I I don't think we look to score sixty again. I I don't think the game script's gonna play that way. I see this being, you know, maybe a a 42 to 10 type game. I I'm not I'm not making an official play, but if if I was going to I would definitely take the forty and a half. David: Over under nineteen screen passes, I'm taking the over. Damn it, Bobo. Every damn time we got screen passes, it's ridiculous. Brian, stop looking at your stats. You ain't gotta get the stats for Western Kentucky. We don't know n need to know who the backup kicker is. Don't be thinking too deep. Western Kentucky taking on Joja. Who you got? Brian: Yeah. Hey, I'm I'm always looking for a edge of where I can try to make some money. So ⁓ it's a wide out game at Georgia. They're doing a wide out. Kirby's four and ⁓ in those games. ⁓ there's there's no way I was touching that forty and a half. So I started looking into the halves. Kirby Smart is arguably the most profitable first half college football coach in history. David: Yeah. We're gonna get to BYU in a minute. That's usually a whiteout too. Brian: If you stay on the first half with him, he likes to suffocate a team in the first half and and just get his starters out of the ballgame. Over the past five years, you know, he's usually a twenty eight nothing, thirty one three, thirty five nothing halftime score. Novada dominated Western Kentucky last week. Novada dominated Western Kentucky last week in the trenches. I have two offici I I got two official plays in this one, so I'll help Greg. I'll make up for that. Him not having one. David: Yeah. Name a Nevada player. I don't know. Brian: I'm gonna take Georgia minus twenty-three and a half for the first half, and I'm also gonna take Western Kentucky under three and a half points team total for the first half. David: Mm. That's something. You said Kirby likes to suffocate teams in the first half and take his starters out. I tell you, I remember a lot of games, especially those Alabama games, where we will get dominated and Kirby has to go in and you're like, please let me listen to this halftime speech, because they come out like some rabid dogs and just show out. And you're like, Where the hell was this the first half? Why couldn't we cuss Adam at the beginning of game? There's been a lot of times that second half. But this time this kind of team, you're right. When it's somebody like this Brian: Yep. These kind of teams. David: They will suffocate and make it happen. So you you're probably right. I don't expect to see Nate Fraser or Gunnar Stockton in the second half. We probably ain't gonna see that happening. We're gonna see some of them boys Greg talked about in the ⁓ common sense superheroes where we broke it down. Well, you could probably see some of those guys, but yeah, that's a big number. I don't care where you are. And I don't think because we're gonna see some of those names, I don't know if we're gonna get forty and a half to cover. But Greg: And and I could guarantee you this, if it comes down to two and a half minutes left and the dogs are up by thirty five, Kirby Smart don't give two shits what that spread is. I promise you. He ain't he ain't one of those coaches. David: Yeah. He's already rich. He don't care. He don't care about your your team. He's not here to make nobody happy. He's not being getting bribed by Tommy Thumbs that's got Brian's numbers that he gets from. We don't have that. So Western Kentucky. Speaking of Kentucky, let's go on up. Go wet go up a little bit to Lexington, Kentucky, where the Alabama crimson tight Chad, come on, bro. Hey, this is honor of you. Chad's an Alabama fan, right? Brian: Mm mm. David: Chad, there's a there's a square right here waiting for you to come in here and tell your tie pick, okay? Come on, Chad. Don't let it don't let it be that way. You you know how bad I'm doing. Come back and save the show. Alabama takes on Kentucky and beautiful Lexington. Brian, did you know that K Kentucky is where the Thousand Pound Sisters live? Because they do, Amy and Tammy. So it's gonna be hard for me not to root for Kentucky because of Thousand Pound Sisters. But Alabama Greg: He is. David: It's giving up ten and a half to travel to Kentucky. Greg, Alabama at Kentucky. Hard to tell what Alabama's got 'cause they played a directional school last week, I think. Ten and a half. Nice number, but not what you expect out of Alabama. What say you? Greg: Let me start by saying that y and you and I addressed ⁓ SEC road trips and stuff on our on our last episode of Common Sense Superheroes. Lexington, Kentucky is not often mentioned, but that is a vastly underrated college town. That is a fun place to go hang out for a football or certainly a basketball game. ⁓ so shout out to Lexington, Kentucky's a good I've I've been on that road. I have seen the dogs play in Lexington four or five times, and it is always a good time. Hospitable people. Yeah. David: Mm-hmm. Sn They there's some There's some old money up there. Some old money up there. Greg: Hospitable people, great tailgates, beautiful part of the country. Just if you hadn't been to Lexington, Kentucky, go. ⁓ but if you're Kentuck if you're a Kentucky fan, don't go this weekend. Give me the tied minus ten and a half. I I look, I I am I am a big Mark Stoops fan. What Mark Stoops has done at the University of Kentucky for a football univer absolutely impressive. He made that football team relevant for a school that hadn't cared about football for the better part of thirty something years. ⁓ but David: Ashley Judd. Ashley Judd. Two words. Greg: Kind of like we talked about with Dabo. I think the stoops ⁓ I think the Mark Stoops run in Kentucky and Lexton's kind of coming to its end. I don't think this is the same Kentucky team that we've had the last few years who've been pretty competitive. Look, I I I like what I saw at Alabama. They got the young guy some some meaningful snaps. They got him some momentum. They got him some confidence. I I expect I expect Bama to roll. I think this is thirty-one seventeen, thirty-four twenty. ⁓ give give me Bama minus the ten and a half or eleven and let's lay the points. David: You better hope they do that. I mean you gotta Kentucky's gotta bring Jared Lorenz back from the grave and at three hundred pounds the heft you gotta bring him back if you wanna have a chance against Alabama. I don't know if you heard Brian, but road tide Willie has gone yes. Greg: The hefty lefty. ⁓ can I can I stop for a second? Jared Lorenzen like became the hefty lefty and for whatever reason that's the one that stuck. I always preferred when they called him the Pillsbury throwboy. That was so much of a better nickname to me. David: That is way that is really good. That is real good. Cause I think hefty lefty now, I of Phil Mickelson when he was a little chunky. That's who took it over. But the Pillsbury throwbore, that is a good one. By the way, could slang it and can move for a big man. When he got his a when he got his ankle snapped in that arena football, that was that was hard to watch. That was tough to watch. But Alabama needs to cover, because I don't know if you heard Brian. Roll Tide Willie has gone sober. My man has stopped drinking. I think he's up to like Brian: Yeah. Yeah. Greg: Yes yes, sir. David: A month or two. Road Tide, Willie and Greg, I've always said same person. Same person. Both sober. Will this be the game where Row Tide has to pull it back on? He's like I don't give a piss about nothing but the tide. Is this where Kentucky makes Willie start back drinking? What say you? Brian: One thing that ⁓ that Greg definitely got right in this game was the Mark Stoops era being over because he's not the coach anymore. It's Will Stein from Oregon. So I SE C road underdog I mean ⁓ home underdogs I usually like to go that way, you know. David: Mm. Greg: Hold you. I can see the future in the past. David: Hold on before you go on. Brian, why do you let us go why do you let the man go on and on about Mark Stoops? If you knew he wasn't there, you made him look foolish. You just let him let him let him lie in it. Brian: Hey, that that was that that was payback from a couple of weeks ago. Greg: I th I think you answered your own question, David. I think that was the point. David: Jeez. That was dirty. You what kind of friends you got here, Greg? Jeez, with friends like this. Jeez. That was hilarious. Greg: You know. Brian: Hey. I hey. I love Kentucky bourbon and I love horse racing, but we ain't talking about neither one of them. We're talking about football right now. So if I had to lean on the side, I'd go with Greg's play. I'm gonna look at it a different way. ⁓ SEC quarterback making their first road start and Keelan Russell, that's usually a tough environment. Examples of that was Archman and first road start wasn't good. Niku Iba wasn't good. Carson Beck's first road start wasn't good. David: Well Brian: So my official play on this would be the under forty nine and a half for the game. ⁓ this is a one of those rare times where you got sharps and you got the books on the same side. The public's hum hammering the over. It's usually a good side to be on, so I'm gonna go with the under forty nine and a half points in this game. David: Mm. Well Greg said there's Greg: I don't I don't hate that. I'm I'm a fan of that Bama defense and I can I can certainly see Kentucky struggling to score for sure. David: Greg said there's no way that a Nick Saban defense is gonna have struggles like that. Nick Saban's gonna go into Kentucky and show them what's up. That's great insight. Great insight. Greg: Yeah, well, Kentucky's gonna really struggle to score if Mark Stoops ain't around no more. Brian: I I love you g I love you, Greg, but I had to get you back from the other week. Greg: That's that's what that just goes to show you what happens when you don't review some of the notes your AI prints out for you. David: That is quite hilarious. Speaking of AI, when I think of AI, I think of hot chicks and way they try to make ⁓ now. But you ain't gotta have AI to make a chick out that looks hot when you're talking about Arizona State. They got the Sun Devils have got it, son. But we're not going to Arizona. We're going to College Station at Texas AM. Boy, they got some money. Boy, they got some cheddar. I hope Greg's going there in a few weeks with his rich nephew, who's probably gonna get paid from there. But we got Arizona State at Texas AM giving up fourteen and a half. And I believe we got Coach Tyler Carlton, his quarterback currently, I believe, is committed to Texas AM. So he might be going to college station. But Brian, Arizona State, Texas AM, what you got? Brian: Thing that worried me in this game was the ⁓ the twelve o'clock Eastern kick time because that's nine a.m. for the Arizona boys. So that's that's that's tough. Arizona's got some Arizona be hot. Yeah. They yeah. Arizona State's got some skill position players. They got some some receivers that can play. They got a ⁓ running back that can play. David: ⁓ Twelve o'clock in Texas. You think it's gonna be hot? Although Arizona's used to it. That'd be good. Brian: I like Kill Kenny Dillingham. I'm a fan of Killing Kenny Dillingham. I hope that he's in the running when our job comes open here in a couple weeks. ⁓ I think a lot of people are gonna be hammering that's yeah, then it then after the Miami game it's gonna happen and Dillonham will be I think Dillingham gets a call. ⁓ betters are gonna hammer the A the Texas A and ⁓ at home for sure. I like Kenny Dillingham in a big game. David: After that Miami game, he's calling it. Brian: So I was able to find this line. So my official play on this game is gonna be Arizona State plus fifteen and a half. David: Big. I mean Texas A and ⁓ Greg: I like it. I I I like it. I ⁓ I I lean that way. I would ⁓ certainly anything north of two touchdowns, north of fourteen, I would lean towards Arizona State in the points. ⁓ my my actual play, I got an official play on the over. ⁓ I I think AM may do most of the heavy lifting points wise. I think AL may get twenty eight thirty. ⁓ but I think ASU's gonna hang in there and put enough points on the board. It's not a real big number at fifty and a half was the last one I saw. ⁓ but I got I got my models got us getting into the mid fifties pretty regularly. So I got an official play on on A and ⁓ and Arizona State on the over fifty and a half. David: Texas AM is known for spending a crap ton of money and being this close to doing something, but never making it happen. And I think that's gonna be the case. I don't think Arizona State's gonna be the team that knocks them off, but they will find a game. I hadn't looked at their schedule, but there'll be a game or two that they are gonna crap the bed, so to speak, and gonna ruin it. ⁓ Texas eight and ten. Eight or ten, that's how many wins they're gonna get. That's about it. But they the Mark Rick the the Texas is what I call ⁓ That's dirty, I should have said that. But so big number. I d that's a lot. It's like you said, the time change, but ⁓ it's not too bad. They'll be fine. They're only it's only a couple hours there, right? Brian: Yeah, that's a couple hours different there. So eleven o'clock start time, so nine o'clock's not too big of a deal. David: Yeah, ⁓ Wouldn't you like to get up on Saturday morning and you know we're watching game day at nine AM? They're watching games. I mean, if there's any thing that makes you want to go to the West Coast, that sounds fun. Greg: I'm gonna tell you one the absolute best parts about going to Vegas is college game day starts at six AM, football starts at nine, and that's plenty of excuses to have a cold drink in your hand by then. If you're into the drinking things. David: I mean that sounds enticing. Brian: I was gonna say the same thing. If Vegas and ⁓ during football season and be able to w start watching ball games at nine AM is that's awesome. David: Other than going to the spear and watching the backstreet boys, I don't know how much interest I got in going to Vegas. I mean they back, Greg. Backstreets back. I'm not joking. No. Listen, I don't travel nowhere, I don't go anywhere, I don't do nothing, but you let InSync perform at the spear. See if I don't find my ass back there. And have ninety eight degrees open. What? Come on, man. I'll be me and my I would go. I would make it happen. Greg: He he's not joking. That's not a joke, y'all. Brian: Right. Greg: Alright, now I miss Chad. Chad looks like a backstreet boy, but he wouldn't listen to him. David: I wouldn't make it happen. Stay out in Arizona. This one another place I'd I'd would want to go is Utah. I hear Utah is beautiful. Provo Utah. You look at their stadium when they it's you know almost turned Mormon just looking at it. But Arizona takes on the Mormons, the BYU Cougars of BYU. Jim McMahon ain't there no more, but we'll see what happens. Arizona is giving up. Or excuse me, getting seven and a half. So BYU has given up seven and a half points. BYU's one of those teams. They're always there. They're always somehow there. And Arizona, are they going to take it to them this weekend, Greg? Greg: ⁓ well first I got a question. B Brian, I see on my notes that ⁓ BYU beat Utah Tech sixty three to seven. Is Utah Tech any good, Brian? Brian: No. Montana hey, my boys from Montana State beat on fifty four to nothing, so David: Utah Tech. He knows. He's got notes, I promise you. Greg: Are they any good? All right. So having said that, you are you're right, David. Utah is a beautiful place. We ⁓ we do our annual ski trip up in Park City and and I'm telling you, Utah is a special part of the country. ⁓ those BYU Mormon fans, it it is a fun crowd. ⁓ for a for a place that has some severe liquor controls, boy, they will get sauced up, let me tell ya. David: Montana State. Croy Beerman. Didn't they go to Montana State? I think so. Ha. Greg: ⁓ but I'm I'm gonna tell you, I give me Arizona plus the seven and a half. I I think this is an inflated number just because of the way they beat Utah Tech, but I don't think Utah Tech could stop the three of us. ⁓ I I anything north of a touchdown, I I like the Wildcats, so I got an official play on Arizona plus seven and a half. David: Mm. I like it. ⁓ what say you, Brian? How you leaning? You looking at you looking at beautiful Utah and you're like, I'm getting caught up in it? Or you thinking Arizona and that hot ass heat? Or what what you leaning? Brian: I think I think Greg's on the right side with that. I mean, you get the veteran quarterback and and Noah Fifi Ta. Arizona's got the better defensive front. Arizona's got the better front. I mean, some things I looked at in this game was the first quarter under ten and a half. I think they're both gonna try to establish a run game. I like that plus seven and a half play. I don't have official play in this game 'cause these you y'all know big twelve games get David: ⁓ Fifi Ta Everybody knows Fifi. Brian: crazy sometimes. I would lean towards that that ⁓ Arizona plus seven and a half if I had to make a play, but I'm not making official play in this one. David: I have a friend Brian who also is named Brian and he is Mormon. I have some Mormon friends. So in honor of them and their special underwear, I'm going the Mormons winning by more than seven and a half. I think they're gonna make it happen. At least ten. They gotta pull out at least ten. So I'm taking BYU. Write it down, folks, and go the other way. If you learned anything, go opposite of what I do. Next up There's I love a rivalry game, even if it's not even anybody I care about whatsoever. It's a little early for rivalry games, but I like it. So we're talking Iowa State and Iowa, in state rivalry. So we got Iowa State going to Iowa. Connec Stadium. Kinneck. Kennick Stadium. Iowa Iowa City. Iowa's hard to say multiple times over and over. They're f Iowa's giving up fourteen and a half. If this was wrestling, I like my chances with Iowa or Iowa State. Them boys will breed some wrestlers. Shout out, Nathan, my friend. But it's not, it's football. So Iowa giving up fourteen and a half. What say you, Brian? Let's start with you. Brian: Why is this game being played at 7 30 and not 12 o'clock like it's always been? So I mean, historically historically y'all know this is a rock fight. I mean, the defenses are gonna play. Matt Campbell's not at Iowa State no more. I'm gonna back the great defense that Kirk Ferrance has at Iowa. My official play on this game is Iowa State team total under seven and a half for the first half. David: Because Correct me if I'm wrong, Iowa State Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeye. The Cyclones. That is quite I think d would you name something after what probably blows away your city every so often is Cyclones? Come on, if Brian: That's right. Aye. David: Cornfields is all I think of when I think of Iowa and I think of tornadoes. Tornadoes and Iowa. And I'm not even sure if they get that. So you're taking Brian: I mean, Miami's the hurricanes and they got a bird for their mascot, so they David: That's a good point. Well let's don't get into the Auburn, the Tigers and the Eagles. It's ridiculous. Greg, what say you? Iowa State, Iowa. What's your take? Greg: There there have been times in my life where I have been ⁓ guilty of overcompensating and overanalyzing and putting way too much thought into stuff and using way too much information and just making shit complicated. If you have watched college football for the last twenty five or thirty years, and if you have ever seen any part of Iowa and Iowa State play, if you put any of your money on anything but the under, I don't know how to help you. David: Ha ha Greg: I d it's I don't know what the exact record is. It's like they're like 22 of the last twenty-four have gone under whatever the number is. And some of these numbers in this case have been in the low thirties. Iowa has a new revamped offense. I know they just won 40 to nothing. I am not impressed. I am not convinced that this is a new thing. It's the Cyhawk game. Give me the under or whatever the best number I can get, and I will take my chances. David: Cheese. Not a bad pick. You know, speaking of hurricanes, did you s I mean, again, Malachi Tony, Brian, he's gonna destroy your boys. You that's he's taking your boys' job. ⁓ Brian: I'm not hey there's no debet no debate on that. Greg'll tell you who I picked for the Heisman Trophy winner at the beginning of the year, so David: ⁓ He's he's a stud. He is a stud. Look, we had some big games last week. LSU Clemson was the one I kept getting excited for. You talked about why is this game played at seven thirty? Why is this game played at seven thirty? Because nobody's gonna watch it. It's outside of the state of Iowa. But that's because across this the state there, or across the country rather, down below south, you got another game taking place at seven thirty. To me, the big game of the weekend, speaking of Malachi Tony. There's another guy who is just as good, and that is one Jeremiah Smith. And the Ohio State Buckeyes are taking on the Texas Longhorns down in Austin, baby. And this one's obviously a close one. ⁓ Ohio State giving up a point and a half in Austin with their new they got new Tesla cyber taxis that don't even need it. They're gonna need it if if Texas pulls this out. They're gonna need them taxis because they're gonna be some drinking, baby. They're gonna let some whiskey flow if them longhorns put it on number one Ohio State. Greg, let's start with you. Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State, studs. Greg: I mean, this is is obviously the the matchup of the weekend. This is the premier game that everybody cares about. I mean, look, the names Arch Manning, Jeremiah Smith, you got Heisman people all over the field here. I look, if on a neutral field I I lean towards Ohio State. I think Ohio State's just a slightly better team, a slightly more complete team. Now, again, caveat being You know who I go for, and we have absolutely owned Texas. So maybe I'm just not intimidated by that particular brand of orange. I think Ohio State's the better team, but I would not touch it at that number in Austin. It's the biggest game, brother. I wish I could get some action on it. There's a chance by 7 30 Saturday night, I'll find a way to get down something on this because I know I'm going to watch it. I can't get a number on either side that I'm comfortable with. I think the number on that game is right on the money. It it'll be a close game. It'll be a touchdown game. I could see either team winning. I could see it going both ways. I could see an absolute defensive juggernaut game where it's 21 to 17 at the end. And I could also see it being 33 to 31 at the end. So I got no official play. And I know that's a cop out ⁓ for the biggest game of the week, but I I ran this every picture I could and I'm just not confident telling somebody where to put their money on this game. David: I'm excited for this game. I'm pumped. I can't wait. I'm gonna have my popcorn ready. It's gonna be on. If you haven't watched the Vince Young documentary on Netflix, it's pretty good. Wow, he gets in his own way a lot. He had a had the talent, but he got his own way. Brian, there's a couple takes I want to get from you. I want you to know what your your pick is on this spread. You can do over under if you like, but there's two particular ones that I want to get your take on. Over under, how many times Matthew McConaughe McConaughey says Hey man, just keep living. Just keep living, baby. I wanna know that. Over under one or two bottles of hair dye for Ryan Day Ryan Day and his ⁓ his beard and ⁓ hair. 'Cause it it's gotta be fake. It's gotta be fake. There's no way that man's got that black of beard. Okay? I'm a little jealous with all the gray hair. So you can answer those takes, but you can go with the the points if you wanna do that instead. Brian: What? Yeah. Matthew Mahunt kinda hay line, I wouldn't know where to set that at. I'd off the top of my head, maybe about four and a half. David: Hey baby, hey baby, just keep living, just keep living. Brian: And then Ryan Day is one hundred percent uses hair dye. So that's a that's a that that's a ⁓ that's a money lined lock there. ⁓ you can get the number one team in the country plus points in this game, so that's very enticing. But I'll give our listeners some stats on that. The last time the number one team in the country was getting points, they lost all five of ⁓ So so David: No, it's this two b that's a two it's a two bottler. It's a two bottler. Yes. Ooh. That's a deep insight we're looking for, Greg. Brian: Histor historically two top five teams playing each other early in the season, they're gonna fill each other out. No co the coaches are not looking to make that first big mistake that's gonna swing the momentum that's gonna make that game go ⁓ either way or the other. Since two thousand seventeen, when you've had games with top five teams in it, four out of five of those games went under for the first half, with an average of fourteen point two points, which is ten points under what this game is. So you give me two good offenses going against each other, but I think they're gonna be filling each other out. Give me the two defensive coordinators in this game and Matt Patricia and Will Muschamp, and you give me twenty four and a half points for a first half, I'm taking that under all day long. So my official play is under twenty four and a half for the first half in this game. David: Jeez. Mm. I'm so pumped for this, Greg. I can't I can't explain to you how excited I am for this game. Rarely do I get excited. I get excited a lot, but this game I'm really pumped. I was pumped about the Clips and LSU, but I'm really pumped about this one because I think this one's gonna be some teams we're gonna have to deal with in the future. We're gonna be seeing these teams quite again a few times, I'm pretty sure. Archman, I ain't sold yet. I ain't one hundred percent sold, but I know he is an athlete. I think he's trying to be a little bit more of a passer. Than he is a runner, and I think you gotta let the man move. You gotta let him go. I if I'm my money's I would have to take, like you said, Greg, I haven't been too impressed with Texas because obviously Georgia's dominated, but it is in Austin, and I wanna I wanna take Texas because I kinda get caught up in it. But Ohio State, as much as I hate Ohio State, I don't know what it is about Ohio State. They're just easy to hate. Easy to hate. Sorry, Jack Nicholas. I don't I hate your team. Okay. I don't like it. So but I do think they're gonna win this game. Greg: Yeah, ⁓ I I would I think they're the better team. I think they're the more complete team. I just want no part of any short number on the road in a place like Austin at night. David: If you put money up, listen to them. If you just thinking with your heart like I do, listen to me. Just saying. I again I don't y'all got all these deep analytics, all this stuff, and I'm like, I mean a he's a pretty nice guy. I like Matthew McConaughey. That's how I do things. So that's it, guys. I I w I appreciate Well you didn't put him on the ⁓ well she you you got to get the you gotta give me the script, Greg. I told you I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Brian: Mm-hmm. Greg: We gotta we got a few more plays we gotta get to. Not on the run down, just the additional plays. Don't make me quit like Chad dude. David: All right, we got a few more to go. Before we leave, Brian, is there any plays you got that you'd like to cover? It could be the most obscure, crazy thing that you want to possibly throw out there. Get it all out your system because right now it's whiskeys and winners. If we don't if you pull out another loser, it's gonna be hooch and hard times, baby. Hoop hooch and heartache. What was your number last week, by the way? Are we gonna go over numbers last week? Greg, do you have the numbers? Who Brian: I get Greg: We already did our recap before this. David: ⁓ nobody listened to that. I wasn't on it. But okay. All right, Brian, go ahead. Brian: Yeah, I got three additional plays this week. ⁓ first game, Montana State at Nevada. I was hoping before that line. I was hop I was hoping when that line came out that the the line was gonna go the other way, but it didn't. But I'm still gonna back ⁓ They they can run the ball and Nevada struggles at running the ball. So give me the FCS team against the FBS team. Give me the Montana State Bobcats at minus three and a half at Nevada. David: Okay. You talk about Nevada. You talked about Nevada being bad. The Bobcats. You kind of screwed your name on that. When I think Montana, I don't think Bobcats. Even though I know there's a lot of Bobcats out there. Come on. How about the Montana State Rip Wheelers? Rip Wheelers or something. The Bef the Bef Duttons or something. I don't know. So you got Montana State over Nevada. You got another player for us? All right. Brian: Yep. ⁓ two more. All right. The next one I won't go as deep into it. I'm gonna take USC first half team total over twenty-six and a half. Lincoln Riley's been known to run the score up on the ⁓ on the G six team, so they're playing L Louisiana in at USC. I feel like he's twenty-eight, thirty, thirty-five points in the first half easy. So I like that twenty-six and a half number. And then the last official play. This game's gonna be played in West Point and the team lost a lot of players. So give me Army minus three and a half over USF. David: Mm-hmm. Greg: I I look at that one. I like that I like that play. It's not official for me, but I I like Army in that one as well. David: How can you not take the army over the Bulls? Ain't they the Bulls, the USF Bulls? Come on, man. You can't take the Golden Knights. And then U USC, he needs to run up the score. He needs somebody to do something exciting so people actually come to the damn game. All right. They gotta do something. Bring some excitement back. Will Farrell ain't on the sidelines no more, is he? Pete Carroll ain't out there just looking all pretty and handsome. No, nobody wants to come out to the games anymore. So that's Bri Greg, what do you got? What is the ⁓ crazy when I before before you say anything, when we started the show, we just like, hey, listen, don't don't go crazy. Don't get too in depth where you bet and your money you ain't got and all that and your family. If you're betting on Montana State and Nevada, that that was part of the problem I was talking about. That was the issue. That's when you know you got pro Brian, I'm saying we got a five step program we gotta look at. But Brian: Yeah. Greg: Y you're you're not wrong. That's why I ⁓ that's why I threw out the friendly disclaimer on the last episode. ⁓ I got a I got a few extra plays as well. I'm and like Brian, I'm not gonna go into a lot of depth on these. These are these are not plays that you want any depth. If you're gonna play ⁓ just throw your fifty or a hundred bucks on what I'm telling you to throw it on and cash it out when you're done. Kennesaw State minus nine and a half at home against Georgia State. Right right in your backyard. The Kennesaw State at home against Georgia State. Yeah. No we're ⁓ give me we're laying the less less than ten David: Who? Who? Who? The owls, the owls. Get it? Who? Greg: Minus nine and a half. Yeah, I'm just trying to get through because it wasn't funny. ⁓ the next play we got is Boston College at home, laying three against Rutgers. ⁓ Rutgers lost to UMass. No nothing else needs to be said. ⁓ and then the last play is I'm gonna I'm gonna take Brian's lead and I'm gonna follow a ⁓ a service academy too. And just to prove that I'm not too loyal, which I have often been accused of, I'm going against my North Dakota State team and I'm giving the Air Force Falcons plus two and a half. David: Mm. Greg: Give me the Falcons. I I actually think they win this game outright. Give me the Falcons money line. Let's forget the two and a half. Give me the money line. And ⁓ as we get into the money line, I guess now that we're down to just ⁓ two official analysts, we can make it maybe have a better chance at hitting our money line parlay this this time without Chad screwing it up. ⁓ we all screwed it up the first two lengths, I think. ⁓ David, you go participate, make it a three team parlay or are we gonna just do two? David: You just tell me what I gotta say. Who who am I who is who is I might who am I between? Greg: It if all right, the moneyline parlay means you just you pick a team to win, no points involved. Now, you don't pick a 30 point favorite because that's not worth anything. So you're kind of looking for a team that's, you know, maybe a six to ten point favorite that you just say, Hey, take the points out of the equation. I'm just telling you they're gonna win. So we'll do a three way moneyline parlay. We are ⁓ we are not not good at these so far. David: Okay. That's no fun. Okay. All right. Well, Brian, I'll let you go first, my man. Brian: All right, give me UNL V over North Texas. David: Mm. And like you said, them directional schools. Who's playing a directional school? That's who I'm going against. Greg: Right. David: ⁓ Greg, who you got? Greg: All right, I'll ⁓ I'll I br matt David, I'll let you go second since you're ⁓ the inexperienced one. I don't want to potentially take your play. David: I ain't even looked who's playin'. All I got is this list, Greg. Give me some throw some stuff out and I'll tell you. Greg: All right, well Brown's on UNLV. I I'm I'm gonna roll with Boise. I think Boise actually probably coverage in that game or just too chicken shit to lay it. ⁓ but I'm gonna I'm gonna go Boise moneyline is my contribution to the moneyline parlay. David: Who's LSU playing? I should go them. Are they playing? Yeah, that's not fun. Let's see. NCAA football. Let's see here. I like BYU. I'm gonna go with them, yes, because I didn't even look up any games this weekend. All I saw was the big games happening. I'm definitely not picking Howard over Indiana. Oregon, Oklahoma State. That's good. No, I'm taking the Mormons. I'm going with the Mormons. BYU, baby. Make it happen. And they were giving up or Greg: And they'll be laying a million. You you like the Mormons take throw BYU in there for years. You like the Mormons? Brian: Yeah. David: Taking seven and a half, but I still think they're gonna win outright. Make it happen. Greg: Brian, is there any chance during all that chaotic nonsense that you were able to make notes and have an actual recap of the plays? David: No, they would give it up. Brian: Yeah, but ⁓ we gonna do your money line underdog first or do that at the end? Greg: We can do it, let's go. I I just told you Air Force is Air Force is gonna win outright. David: You know what, Chad? Chad, I apologize. I know why you left now. You see how difficult this is? It's so hard. They were trying to get on me. Brian: I'm all Greg: It wasn't hard with me in charge. Brian: For my my for my money line underdog, I'm gonna have to go against your ⁓ other play. So one of these ain't one of these ⁓ plays ain't gonna hit, but I'm gonna take Rutgers to beat Boston College. Greg: No chance, not NBC. No chance. David: Mm. Brian: Red bandana game, but I'm gonna take ⁓ David: Matt Ryan's upset. Matt Ryan's upset somewhere. Nope. Greg: Do you have a moneyline dog you want to contribute, David? Or you want me throw that one out there for you too? David: No, don't be throwing stuff for me. you know what? Greg: Take take Kansas. Kansas at home is a good dog against Missouri. Missouri could choke. David: Tech is gonna Tex Tech is gonna be beat Tennessee. Tech is gonna show out on Tennessee. It's gonna happen. Yep. They they they're like, you know what? You can't come in our house. It was a little sloppy game the first half. I think it was some rain or whatnot. Kyle Dion's back. Tech's gonna bounce back. Tech's gonna outright upset Tennessee. Greg: Balving. And and I don't know why I didn't bring this up for the money line. When Michigan beats Oklahoma, don't be surprised. David: Yeah, that's what you're called, yeah. If they do, that'd be unbelievable. That'd be ridiculous. But that's college football for you. Greg: Hi, D, show us your smooth operator hosting skills and get us out of here efficiently and humorously. David: Woo Welp. Welp, one and done. This may be it. Call me Marcus Canby. One and done, baby. I'm a Kentucky basketball player. One and done, it seems like. Greg's gonna boot me out. I've had fun. I may be a sh crap show. I don't know. But Chad, there's a listen, I've did my best to make the make it easy for you to transition back, my friend. Cause I don't know what I'm talking about. But I try my best. I appreciate you fellas letting me come on to Whiskey and Winters and show my lack of talent that I when it comes to betting. I hope I made you look good. I made it easy for you. Didn't set the bar very high. But Brian, I appreciate you letting me come on. Greg, same to you, my friend. And guys, if you got ⁓ and you are able to do it, participate, have a little whiskey tonight. Have a little fun. All right. Have a little get a little drink. Let a little loose. It's a it's Wednesday hump day. We had a short week. Friday's right around the corner. We got football back, baby. Ka ⁓ MLB's picking up. But week two of College football is gonna be big. I'm excited for it and I hope you are too. Greg, anything else before we leave? Greg: See if ⁓ Brian, you wanna give us a quick recap just so everybody can get in here and ⁓ have all the official plays in one place towards the end and then I'll ⁓ I'll wrap us up. Brian: Yep. I got it. All right. I got ⁓ Greg's official plays is Georgia Tech plus thirteen and a half. Alabama minus ten and a half. Arizona State, Texas A and ⁓ under fifty and a half. Arizona plus seven and a half. Yeah, over over fifty and a half, my bad. I and I'm a if I could show you my screen, it says over. I'm just used to taking unders. Arizona plus seven and a half. Iowa State, Iowa under forty one and a half. Greg: Over. Over and you tried to do that to me in the Bama game last weekend. David: Got him. Brian: Kennesaw State minus 9.5. Boston College minus 3. And Air Force on the money line. My picks are Ohio State, Texas, under 24.5 for the first half. Michigan team total under 20.5. Arizona State plus 15.5. Georgia Tech plus 13.5. Alabama, Kentucky under 49.5. Georgia minus 23.5 for the first half. David: Who? Greg: Like it. Brian: Western Kentucky team total under three and a half for the first half. Iowa State team total under seven and a half for the first half. Montana State Bobcats minus three and a half. USC team total over 26.5 for the first half. And Army minus 3.5. Our combined parlay is Boise State, UNLV, and BYU. And our Money Line underdogs are Michigan, Rutgers, and Georgia Tech. Greg: Beautiful. I like it. I ⁓ I hopefully we're off to a good week. You Brian, you you and I have ⁓ we've managed to hang around the 60% mark, which was our goal, mostly thanks to your your extraordinary efforts to this point. Hopefully I'll ⁓ pick up the slack and contribute a little bit more. Shout out David, we appreciate you jumping in here kind of with short notice and and without without a whole lot of time to prepare. ⁓ you did well, my man. You kept it entertaining, you made it fun. We we loved having you. To those of you who are listening, y'all y'all show David some love. Get on there and listen to his other shows. Listen to Front Porch with David. Listen to the Common Sense Superheroes. if if you're ⁓ if you're working with Brian, don't listen to Common Sense Superheroes or Front Porch with David. He has nothing to do with either one of those. ⁓ but we love you guys. We appreciate y'all listening. We're gonna ⁓ we're gonna keep doing this. We're gonna put out some winners this week. And ⁓ as you said, fix yourself a whiskey and enjoy the rest of your evening. I think there's some NFL football coming on. David: Absolutely. Yeah. ⁓ yeah, baby. Make it happen. Brian: Yep. Appreci appreciate you, David. Greg: ⁓ God bless y'all. Y'all have a good night. David: Till next time. Peace. Good job.
